The Oppression Of Motherhood
When will you have a child? is a question often heard by women nearing a certain age, or upon
achieving certain milestones in her life (such as marriage or after her 30th birthday). While it may be
true that women are indeed the only ones with the ability to bear children, having a child is portrayed
as a woman s right of passage. Individuals frequently overstep boundaries of privacy and inquire
insensitively about a woman s personal plan for children, and the male glorifying society is to be
blamed for this prying and expectation. Due to the fact that motherhood in general is largely linked to
women s subordination to men, voluntary alternate decisions are subject to public criticism for
violating the dominant norm. However, what if a woman truly has no desire to become a mother? Is it
really something that every woman should aspire to? Why are women who opt not to procreate
stigmatized in the first place? Is motherhood really as rewarding as portrayed to be? It is vital to note
that is essay is not intended to degrade or discredit motherhood, as it is truly an extremely imperative,
praiseworthy role, but, to closely examine ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The media plays a significant role in the idealization of the patriarchal motherhood. Though the media
portrayals of family ideals change from era to era, historically, characters such as Carol Brady (mother
and step mother) from The Brady Bunch, Clair Huxtable (African American, working mother) from
The Cosby Show, or Lorelai Gilmore (single, working mother) from Gilmore Girls primarily depict a
selfless mother s ability to do it all with little complaint, out of pure love for her

Persuasive Essay On Tattoos And Tattoos
There are many ways people influence one another to begin a trend, like social media; it s where
everyone finds out what is in style, to be like everyone else. Most people feel the need to follow others
because of what they see in someone else s life such as tattoos and piercing. Just because someone has
something that catches people s attention it most likely doesn t mean it will have the same result on
you. Regarding tattoos and piercing, people need to be aware of infections, the holes they leave behind
and the money invested in a change. The body design is always seen different by everyone because it
is a different piece of art on oneself. It is an attraction of what other people have on or in their body to
create a new reborn self of ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Likewise, piercing are a piece of jewelry on the body that makes the skin more appealing, which is
also another popular trend in social media. I tend to have a fascination with how piercing would make
me more attractive. Furthermore, from my own experience ever since I was a baby I had ear piercing.
At age sixteen I then realized I wanted more piercing on my bodies such as my cartilage, nose, and
naval. Lesley would always tell me, Damn another one? don t you think piercing cause infections and
holes?, and I replied with, Yeah, it all depends on how you take care of your body like putting Vaseline
or Aquaphor to smooth and resist infections. Lesley replied You re crazy! you like pain huh? but I give
you props damn warrior. As crazy as it sounds I see piercing as my friend Lesley sees tattoos different
but cute. The pain is quick like a sharp stinging sensation of a bee; however, piercing are a lot cheaper
but yet more pain tolerating than that of a tattoo. The appearance of how someone looks can boost
their self confidence and inspire others to get what they want due to their appearance. As for myself, I
got multiple compliments in my belly button piercing which made me happy to know I created my
new self that will do anything to satisfy my soul.
Additionally, an appearance can give a vibrant vibe off

The History of Rock and Roll Essay
Rock and roll has developed a long way throughout the years from a dance craze in the 1950 s to a
political and cultural landscape that is recognized worldwide. Rock and roll has come to define the
roots of teenage rebellion, people who don t follow the norms, and have disrespect for authority. The
style of rock and roll itself is a melting pot of music, a combination of sounds that include jazz,
country, blues, ragtime, gospel, swing, classical, and ethnic music. It can be a simple variation of three
chords to a complex chromatic scale combination. It can convey emotions such as love, hate, fear,
lust, sadness, joy, disillusion, or a strong sense of reality. Many things can be said about rock but the
fact is that it is the most widely ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The Grateful Dead fused country, blues, jazz, and bluegrass on electric instruments and held acid tests
where LSD was given to thousands of people and a concert was held all day. Janis Joplin was also a
major part of the psychedelic era. Blues also heavily influenced Janis, who greatly admired the female
blues singer Odetta (Kallen 65). Janis is most remembered for her heavily emotional voice in songs
such as Piece of My Heart and Ball and Chain where she sang with her face contorted, sometimes
stamping her feet, clutching the microphone with one hand, and a whiskey bottle with the other. Of all
the artists of the psychedelic era, Jimi Hendrix was the most influential. Jimi took inspiration from the
soulful guitar of blues players and developed his own style from it. Jimi was left handed and played
his Stratocaster guitar upside down while creating unearthly sounds that humbled other guitarists of
the time. Hendrix was unknown until playing at the Monterey Pop Festival in 1967 where he played
an amazing array of songs and then lit his guitar on fire at the end of the show (DeCurtis 133).
Although Jimi seemed like a very wild and unpredictable person on stage he was actually a focused
musician, that part of Jimi s personality is explained in this quote by Ernie Isley: The best musicians
are very observant. They hold their arms wide, willing to embrace suggestions; they study their craft,
and Jimi certainly did all that. (Lanham 102) But as

Essay On Costs Too Much Money
In this day and age, almost everything costs money. If you want to go out and do something
entertaining, it can be expensive. Tell City is a pretty boring town, and there is not really much to do
here. However, you can have fun for cheap if you know where to go. We have a movie theater,
restaurants, hiking trails, and plenty of grocery stores around town that you can go to to find snacks
and meals to prepare. Many people that live here complain that they never have anything to do. People
also complain that anything we can do costs too much money. Taking a girl out on a date is almost
impossible without spending a lot of money. What people do not know is that you can have a good
weekend with less than $20 here in Tell City, if you know ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Prices for movies are great; regular showtimes for children three to twelve is six dollars, adults
thirteen and over is eight dollars, and senior citizens sixty and over is six dollars. The matinee movies,
which are movies that start before six p.m., are six dollars. There is also a special for fireman,
policeman, and military who have their ID s, their movie tickets are six dollars. Concessions are
always expensive at movie theaters, but ours is cheaper than most. There are four different movies
playing at any given time. Cinema 66 is also doing a Christmas special, with Elf playing on December
21st and The Polar Express playing on December 28th. The best part about this Christmas deal is that
both movies are free for anyone to come and watch! This is a perfect date for cheap, and one thing that
I would recommend doing. If you really want a cheap but fun night, having a movie night would be a
very good idea. We have Redbox that you can rent movies from for $1.50 a day. The Redbox has a
great variety of movies, and it iz usually stocked pretty well with favorable movies. The Redbox s
here in Tell City are placed pretty conveniently for movie nights, the four that we have are placed
around grocery stores. There are two at Walmart, one at Dollar General, and one at Family Dollar. A
more convenient source for movies is Netflix, it is $7.99 a month and it has great movies and
television shows. Movie nights and Netflix binge watching is

Fourth Amendment Rights Essay
Fourth Amendment Paper Assignment Today, I am presented with a case that puts in question the
violation of individual s Fourth Amendment rights. This case also puts in question the rights of the
authority placed in our streets, neighborhoods and towns to perform actions directed towards certain
citizens in an effort to serve and protect the overall population. There must be a careful analysis in
order to interpret the records of the incident that occurred to conclude who holds the most justified
position in this case under the applicable laws. The Court of Appeals of the State of New York must
also take into careful consideration the circumstances discussed and the ruling given by the District
Court assigned to this case, which I ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Defendant Miller evidently avoided walking by the officers. There are precise rules that involve the
stopping of an individual by the authority. The Fourth Amendment states that the right of the people to
be secure in their persons, houses, papers, and effects, against unreasonable searches and seizures,
shall not be violated... . Specific distinctions within the Amendment are made in the prior case of
Terry v. Ohio (392 U.S. 1 [1968]). These distinctions discuss the rules and regulations adherent to
stops of individuals by the authority. According to Justice Warren, delivering the opinion of the court
in this case, the police should be allowed to stop a person and detaining him briefly for questioning
upon suspicion that the individual may be connected with criminal activity . This statement basically
explains that unusual conduct of an individual observed by the authorities can give reasonable
suspicion that criminal activity may be afoot. This reasonable suspicion is grounds for a stop and brief
questioning by the authorities. So, accordingly following these sets of rules, I must analyze how the
law applies to reach a decision in favor, or in opposition to the stop of an individual. Defendant Miller
clearly showed unusual conduct while walking in the street. He walked in one direction, looked
toward the direction of the cops, and more profoundly made eye contact with one

Pros And Cons Of Small Town America
Let s talk about small town America. It is a wild place. It can be the greatest place on planet earth, or
the worse place you have ever been. Rural towns do have their ups and downs. For instance, in a
house out in the country, you can take a leak off of your back porch, and no one will care. However,
the location of many small country towns makes them a target for trouble. And out away from
civilization, there may be no one to help you in your time of need. So what are the pros and cons of
rural life?
Let s talk about the good things first. A popular good thing that comes to mind is privacy. Privacy is a
window to freedom. You can piss off of your front porch and no one cares, you can listen to your
music as loud as you want to, and you can roam free in your underwear and, likely, no one will see
you. Privacy is good, but what else is nice about small town America? One word: Friends. In small
rural towns, you begin to build close relationship with your neighbors, and sometimes, they may even
become family. Don t take them for granted either, because out in the country, they will be your first
and last life line. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

How Eugene Debs Changed America
While there is a lower class, I am in it, and while there is a criminal element I am of it, and while there
is a soul in prison, I am not free, proclaimed Eugene Debs upon being convicted of violating the
Sedition Act (Metz). As he asserted, Debs was the cornerstone of minorities in America. Eugene Debs
was the icon of the exploited workers, oppressed socialists, and drafted soldiers. He sought to make
America the Utopia. Eugene V. Debs significantly altered America by pioneering the labor activism
through unions, inspiring other activists with successful strikes, halting growing labor activism with
the violent Pullman Strike, changing the American politics with the socialist parties, improving public

The extremely violent nature of the Pullman Strike led by ARU caused the public to protest strikes,
especially against the newcomers who were working in the railway industries (Winston). After the
successful Great Northern Railway strike, the ARU participate in the Pullman Strike, demanding the
rollback of the recently reduced wages (Winston). During the Pullman Strike, the mobs burned and
looted railroad cars (Winston). The strikers were mostly composed of foreign workers since railway
industries provided harsh working conditions, so only new immigrants accepted the jobs (Winston).
Furthermore, the Pullman Palace Car Company hired primarily black strikebreakers, attempting to
initiate racism of the strikers (Winston). Most notably, local presses associated the strikers as
anarchists and communists who came from foreign countries, while highlighting the racist behaviors
of the strikers (Winston). Consequently, American citizens started to associate labor movements as the
actions of foreign communists and anarchists to overthrow their country (Winston). Also, the
association which came from the Pullman strike indirectly contributed to the cause of the Red Scare
(Winston). The public believed that the violent actions were attempts of Communists to overthrow
America to establish a communist state (Winston). Since Eugene Debs led the American Railway

Essay On Manifest Destiny
Manifest Destiny has many topics to choose from, the Annexation and war with Mexico being one of
them. Annexation is the action of invading, most times it was about invading land. There were more
Americans living in Texas then there were Mexicans. Eventually Texas became an independent
republic in 1836, this simply added to the events leading up to the war with Mexico. The purpose of
this essay is to understand the Annexation of Texas, how the war with Mexico began, what happened
in the Mexican war, who contributed to the Annexation of Texas, and how all this ties in with Manifest
Destiny.
The Annexation of Texas was the process of transitioning Texas into being a part of the United States.

The Mexican war had many battles, while America won all battles fought, Mexico was adamant in
putting up a fight against America, as they were not willing to give up Texas to America. The Mexican
war lasted longer than Polk had hoped for, it lasted well over a year. While war continued Polk feared
that Taylor could not achieve tactical skills to defeat Mexico. Polk also feared that Taylor would gain
political power if he was successful with his tactic against Mexico, and he did gain that political
power that Polk feared he would have. While Polk was fearful he also went ahead and made orders to
move offensive tactics against New Mexico and California. Kearny saw that America needed help, so
he helped to bring American forces together under his command, eventually they had complete control
over California. Mexico was still adamant not to be defeated by America. Polk and General Winfield
Scott decided that the war had gone on long enough. Scott advanced on the Mexicans, and while he
did so he was able to keep a low body count of his own soldiers, while he had never lost a battle
before finally seizing the Mexican capital. After seizing the Mexican capital, a New Mexican
government took control and was now willing to negotiate peace with America. Polk still was wanting
to annex more of Mexico, but wanted the war to be over so, he sent Nicholas Trist to decide on a
settlement.

Factors Influencing The Performance Of Bank s...
Confirmatory factor analysis:
Confirmatory factor analysis is a type of structural equation modeling that deals specifically with
measurement models, that is, the relationship between observed measures or indicators and latent
variables or factors (Brown, 2015). In this paper, the method of factor analysis is used to calculate the
performance of bank s comprehensive management. Factor analysis method is used to reduce the
dimension of the method, named as a multivariate statistical analysis method. It is integrated into a
small number of factors, in order to reproduce the original variables and the relationship between the
factors, and then each component to a certain weight in order to calculate the comprehensive score.

Port Huron Statement Thesis Statement
In the political manifesto, The Port Huron Statement, it was written by college students, who created
there ideals for a Democratic Society and expressed their views in the America they lived in. The
Huron Statement mainly addresses the main and lessor problems that America was facing during this
time. When the Port Huron Statement was written, people were getting over the Cold War, still fearing
it after how it left many Americans. As well the racism happening in the South. The Students for a
Democratic Society sought to see after the values of people after noticing that they weren t given the
chance if they wanted to participate in the decision making of their American Government.
Furthermore, this called for a demand of action after wealthy men wouldn t help individuals who were
in poverty, instead giving their money to Gun business corporations to support the military. The
wealthy were afraid that those oppose of their values for America would not benefit them in the
coming years. This led the Student for a Democratic Society to write the Port Huron Statement about

Reflection On The Guide Dogs Of Texas Organization
A noun. Leadership. According to the Oxford English dictionary it is The action of leading a group of
people or an organization. But to me leadership is much more than a blanketed definition. It evokes
more than that. I feel as though I have been through countless leadership experiences. But none more
memorable than being the leader of my own Eagle project. The project had a focus on puppies and
puppy training. The project was for the Guide Dogs of Texas Organization. My project involved two
phases. Cabinets for laundry room storage and puppy training agility equipment. The first phase was
straightforward and done without much hassle. The Guide Dogs of Texas had a need for laundry
storage to help with their newly formed workload coming from their upcoming litter of puppies. The
cabinets would serve to greatly reduce the efforts required from having to provide the puppies with
new sheets at least three times a day. The second phase was a little more complex. My project coach
and I came up with the idea of constructing agility equipment to help train the puppies into becoming
guide dogs. The equipment that ended up being chosen were a teeter totter, a set of weave poles, and a
ladder. The agility equipment for the puppies would be made out of PVC piping and would be

Pros And Cons Of Privatizing The United States
Privatizing the United States air traffic control operations may move closer to becoming a reality in
2017 something most airline companies and other industry leaders have been pushing for a long time.
Proponents of shifting away from government control introduced a bill last year that the incoming
president has expressed a willingness to carefully consider. Rep. Bill Shuster (R), who helped draft the
legislation, sees the long overdue shift to satellite based air traffic management as the solution to
lower costs for operators, while making air traffic safer and more efficient for all stakeholders.

Supporters for privatizing air traffic control claim that it is time to address long delays and
inefficiencies in an aging airspace network that doesn t fully utilize modern aviation technology. UK
based NATS projects delays will exponentially increase from the current 90,000 minutes a year to
approximately 4 million in the next 15 years unless the United Kingdom government invests in
modernization by replacing outdated airspace technology by switching to satellite based control. In the
United States the federal government has a history of moving at a snail s pace when it comes to
updating national infrastructure. For example, New York City just completed a subway upgrade that
was originally approved in 1929. A revamping of the system similar to the innovative changes that
transformed call center voice recording equipment from simple recording devices to systems that
capture conversations and enable digital archiving and instant sharing via cloud based technology, will
help modernize our airspace management strategies. The time to act is now if we want to avoid

Analysis Of The Poem The Gospel Of Wealth
Dagan Martinez Dr. Amanda Bruce AMH2020 26 September 2014 Comparison, Analysis, and
Criticism of Economic Ideals in the Gilded Age In his essay, The Gospel of Wealth, Andrew Carnegie
argues that the imbalance of economic wealth is essential to the advancement of society. In days past,
there was little difference between the quality of life between a ruler and his subject. Alluding to a
time when Carnegie visited the chief of an indigenous American tribe, he observed that the Chief of
the Indians , who lived in a state of antiquity, tent was no different from even the poorest among the
tribe. Returning back to this stage of civilization would be detrimental to both the ruler and subject. Is
it better for all of us to live in poverty than for a few of us to have riches? Shouldn t those who prove
themselves masters in art and literature and those of higher intelligence have more than those with no
talent? This is the way society is progressing. Whether or not one actually believes that doesn t matter,
as changing the destiny of civilization is beyond one s power. (Carnegie, 28 29) It is better to improve
society through the construction public foundations such as museums and libraries rather than alms
giving. Through alms giving, one encourages laziness and vagrancy rather than integrity, and thus
damages society. Through public structures, one provides support for those who actually wish to

Ethical Issues Involving The Media
There is an ongoing debate over how important and necessary ethical behavior is in the business
domain. It is arguable due to the advantages and disadvantages that come into to play with every
decision. Some stand on the side of the dispute that ethical behavior may slow down one s rate of
success, but it ensures that success is accomplished morally and justly. On the other hand, some
blatantly argue that ethical behavior is not necessary when one is on the thin line between success and
failure. In other words, this side believes unethical behavior is not a problem when one is in desperate
need of higher achievement. Businesses often display unethical behavior towards their customers
through their advertising in the media, towards their employees through mistreatment, and towards
their investors through bribery. In each topic, the importance of ethical behavior is evident. Ethical
Issues Involving the Media Media advertisements can contain untrue and misleading information
regarding a product. An advertisement for the popular drink known as Vitamin Water has proved to be
unethical and deceptive towards customers. Attempts are being made by the National Consumers

coming in and out of the country. From the outside, Mumbai seems to enjoy being internationally
integrated with the rest of world, otherwise known as globalization. However, this is not the case as
seen in Katherine Boo s novel Behind the Beautiful Forevers: Life, Death, and Hope in a Mumbai
Undercity. This novel is set in a slum right next to the Mumbai International Airport called Annawadi.
It focuses mainly on the life and story of the main character, Abdul. Abdul Husain and his family
make a living by selling scrap metal tossed out by the upper class of Mumbai. When looking at Abdul
s story, one can see the corruption that made it near impossible for globalization to have a positive
effect on Annawadi. Abdul s relationship with his neighbor, one legged Fatima, also shows how
neighborhood relationships were a barrier to Annawadi s ability to be a part of Mumbai s
globalization. Before examining the reasons for Annawadi s lack of effects from globalization, one
must look at some of the reasons as to why Annawadi faces the shocking amount of poverty that it
does. In the novel, Boo writes, What you don t want is always going to be with you. What you want is
never going to be with you. Where you don t want to go, you have to go. And the moment you think
you re going to live

The Wines Of Spain ( California )
The Wines of Spain
During my young and foolish years, I was a confirmed wine snob; at least as it applied to the red
wines I drank. If they didn?t come from Bordeaux, France, I didn?t consider them worthy. Typically,
my purchases would feature wines from M?doc, Margaux, Pauillac, Saint Emilion, Pomerol and
Graves. This all changed in my late forties, I was gifted with several bottles of red wine from various
countries including Australia, Chile and the United States (California). Begrudgingly, I accepted the
fact that good red wine needn?t come from France.
This oenophilia did not preclude my consumption of ?inferior? wines; it merely dispatched them to a
list of wines I would never consider buying for myself. I assumed that if I couldn?t ... Show more

Nevertheless, despite my experience in Colorado, I did start expanding my horizons with red wines
until my forties.
I had learned of the pleasures of the red wines from Piedmont, Italy. The incredible richness of
Australian Shiraz proved it as an acceptable alternative to its Rhone Valley cousin. However, it took
another experience with Rioja in my early fifties to start my exploration of Spanish wines.
Overview
To do justice to the subject of Spanish wines requires more than a single post, coverage befitting the
third largest producer of wine, behind France and Italy, simply cannot be done within the limits of a
single short article and summarization does a disservice to the exceptional wine making reputation of
Spain?s dedicated vintners.
Any worthwhile discussion of Spain?s wine making needs to include, at a minimum, an overview of
the wine making regulations, under which vintners operate, the labeling requirements and what that
means that means to consumers. After ?lo these concepts are covered, a discussion of the wine
growing areas, the grape varietals and the resulting wines produces a sharper picture of Spain?s wines.
A Brief Historical Perspective
Spain has been growing grapes and making wine for centuries, with traditions as reputable as from
any of the other European wine countries. However, the events of the past few decades, from the
1980s until now have resulted in something of a revolution in

Patriarchy Or A Silent Feminist, By William Faulkner
Patriarchy or a silent feminist, in the 1931 short story by William Faulkner patriarchy was the way of

President Abraham Lincoln stepped onto the stairs of the capitol building to give his second inaugural

president, worn down and tired from the long lasting battle, was still determined to mend the divided

The Assassination of Franz Ferdinand Essay
While there is never just a single event that has led to the start of a world war, or any other serious
war, there is often one thing that triggers long lived tensions and thus war ensues. Such was the case in
WWI with the assassination of Archduke Franz Ferdinand. There were many tensions that existed
prior to his assassination, but it was his assassination which triggered the war, his assassination that
served as an excuse, and perhaps the last straw, so to speak, which led to the First World War. The
following paper examines the assassination of Franz Ferdinand and its relationship to the start of
WWI. nbsp; nbsp; nbsp; nbsp; nbsp;Under the rule at the time of the assassination, the old Austrio

The European leaders and individuals were perhaps becoming very untrusting of one another, and the
tensions were rising as no one would rely on the agreements made by anyone. nbsp; nbsp; nbsp; nbsp;
nbsp; nbsp; nbsp; nbsp; nbsp; nbsp;As a result of all this tension and distrust, in combination with the
assassination of Ferdinand, many nations came together or attacked certain nations that were a threat.
For example, the assassination led Austria to declare war on Serbia and Germany declared war on
Russia, and then France and then Belgium (Cox). Great Britain then declared war on Germany and
Japan on Germany (Cox). Clearly there were many tensions that were just waiting for the right
moment, the breaking of the camel s back, to push nations to truly act. And, since other nations were
acting, each nation took that as a sign to go ahead with plans they had perhaps had for several years.

Nietzsche Dionysis Essay
What method does Nietzsche use to become the Dionysian Overman? What perspective on life does
the Overman adopt? How does it enable amor fati and express optimum Yes saying to our present
natural life in the world? How does this overcome slave morality or religion ? Nietzsche uses
acceptance of fate, its obstacles, adversity and also its divinity to become the Dionysian Overman. He
believes by affirming life in both its cruelty and beauty that we can achieve joy in the present without
the need for beliefs in an afterlife or future existences. Nietzsche states the Overman holds a love for
natural life, with no grudges or sense of resentment whilst others hold spitefulness despite their

This is because, The child is innocen[t]...a new beginning... the spirit now wills its own will, the spirit
sundered from the world now wins its own world... (Hollingdale trans., Penguin, pg 55.) Now with a
mindset free from societal pressure and preconceived ideals one may become overman and go forth
with a joyful perspective on life. The Overman adopts the perspective that beauty, cruelty, happiness
and sadness despite their definitional differences are to be appreciated all the same. He explains that it
is the obstacles in life that spurn the greatest happiness, it is explained in this Chinese Proverb: The
flower that blooms in adversity is the rarest and most beautiful of all. Nietzsche believes that as there
is no adversity in Heaven there can be no such beautiful flowers blooming there (PHIL1087 #4) and
hence no chance for courage, generosity and personal growth. There is hence no chance to adopt a
Dionysian perspective and be at one with all of what is natural, to thence be able to find true
Dionysian virtue. This virtue lies in the acceptance of all that is pleasurable and painful. It then brings
happiness as Nietzsche argues that vice sprouts from disaffection...resentment, spite, from the...lack of
inner power and its joy . As the Overman can hold no sense of resentment, or grudge and through
metamorphosis has a strong sense of

Allaphor To God And The Bible In Mary Shelley s Frankenstein
In Mary Shelley s Frankenstein, there are several references to God and the bible, specifically the
book of Genesis. Shelley uses allusion to point to the idea of the parallels between Victor and the
Monster and the story of Adam and Eve. These allusions are not only comparisons of Victor to God
and the Monster to Adam but also Victor to Adam.
Driven by his mother s own death, Victor looked to science for a way to combat death and illness for
his own personal benefit and glory. By giving his creation life, he manages to attain the knowledge
and status similar to that of God. The creation of this monster, like Prometheus stealing of fire, leads
to Victor s punishment. His life becomes one of loneliness and isolation, brought upon him by the
creation of his creature and his attempt to be God. His carelessness and inability to fully understand
the complications with his experiment contributed to his downfall and ultimately leads to a diversion
in this comparison.
Bodies
Victor and the creation of his monster to God and the creation of Adam, I feel as though another
implication could be made. Victor Frankenstein could be seen as Adam. In Genesis God says to Adam,
But of the tree of the knowledge of good and evil, thou shalt not eat of it: for in the day that thou
eatest thereof thou shalt surely die (Genesis 2). The creation of the monster sets off a series of events
ultimately ending in the death of Victor s family, leaving him to die alone in isolation. The

2 Personal Goals
Introduction I will be exploring and distinguishing two personal goals and two professional goals in
relation to developing a strong and resilient mind. We will find methods that would help achieve these
goals. We will be creating scenarios that for each personal goal established and what method used to
achieve that goal.
First personal goal is to pay more attention and ask questions if I do not hear correctly. I may seem bit
off in my own world to say the least but it is nothing of the sort. I do listen; however, I do not always
hear them due to my bad hearing from military service. I do not like annoying people by asking them

I must be on my game in relation to the details of the project. There is one additional artist who fails to

Instead of being easily overwhelmed and anxious, I step back and reassess the situation. I breath,
smile, and simply correct the issue before the passing deadline comes. By doing this, I come across
grounded, professional, and dealt the situation in a positive manner.
Second professional goal would be more mindful and understanding to the client when trying the
understand there needs. Being a retired graphic shop team leader, I had to deal directly with clients
and try to understand their needs. At times this was no easy task, for a client may not always know
what he/she may want. This can be truly confusing and even annoying.
Methods would be to practice mindfulness, be positive, and gradually offer ideas to him/her to help
the process be easier for both parties (Mercola, 2013). It seems to be easier for the client to deal with a
more laid back, positive, and more mindful representative, for he/she may not know much of anything
with my trade. This would be more welcoming for the client room for ideas which both parties can

Yellow Journalism was a form of newspaper that told outrageous stories to catch the readers eye.
Newspaper publishers William Randolph Hearst and Joseph Pulitzer II used the form of journalism as
a marketing campaign to get customers, in order to buy their newspapers. They include stories,
drawings, and cartoons. Instead, the journal gave birth to modern day investigative Journalism. It was
during the 1890s, this newspaper would cause a war between the United States and Spain. What
would plunge America into the Spanish America was that William Randolph Hearst wrote a story of
America in a war with Cuba, which he said would not just sell millions of papers, but make him the
head honcho of the newspaper business. Although the journal is influence to future news stories, some
modern critics have considered Yellow Journalism as disclosure of privacy. According to Vanaik,
Yellow journalism must be opposed, but it is astonishing that methods that restrict the democratic
rights of freedom of the press and journalists, specifically the right of journalists to protect their
sources, should be advocated to tackle problems which should and can be dealt with by methods when
are not restrictive of basic liberties. Provided, Hearst made reports to depict the Cubans as savages,
who made their women slaves, host public executions, and that a rebellion for independence caused
war to break out in Cuba. However, Hearst s depiction of Cuba would not be the main cause of

The Cruelty Of Sacrifice In Great Britain
When Britain declared war against Germany on the 4th of August 1914, New Zealand (colony of the
British Empire) vowed to fight in the war supporting Great Britain and for the preservation of the
British Empire. Shortly after the declaration of war fourteen thousand New Zealand men had
volunteered, although at that time there was little pressure placed on eligible men to volunteer.
Perception of the equality of sacrifice began to manifest in calls for badges and other decals to identify
those who were seen as shirking their duty and not doing their part for the war effort.
As the attitude towards volunteering changed from an inclination to an obligation, a debate emerged
over the distribution of sacrifice each person was willing to make. New ... Show more content on

Feminism has fought no wars. It has killed no opponents. It has set up no concentration camps, starved

Advantages And Disadvantages Of The Academic Ranking
The Academic ranking is one of the priorities in the society including the students, University, Higher

More importantly, it is still useful because using this can be our basis in applying college admission

Since URAP is an academic performance based ranking, publication constitutes the basis of the

The Civil War still has major impacts on America today. For example, an immediate response to the

their ancestors and their past of slavery before the war and segregation after the war. Marathon,
Greece is located about 22 miles from Athens, Greece. This is the site of the famous Battle of
Marathon which took place in 490 B.C. between the Athenians, led by Platea, and the Persians, led by
Datis and Artaphernes. The Persian War was sparked by the Greek involvement and support in the
Ionian revolt, Ionia was a small Greek polis. The Athenians sent forces to aid the Ionians in their

How Red Effects Human Emotion and Behavior Essay
There is an influence constantly working on our minds, one that we may not have even noticed. It
follows us everywhere, and we can t escape it no matter how hard we try. It doesn t make a sound or
move, it just silently hides in plain sight effecting the way we think. Colors are one of the most
effective yet least thought about influences on our minds. How come seemingly every super hero has a
red suit? Or why are the super villains always wearing black? Why are hospitals never painted red,
and most businesses have white, yellow, and red for their logo colors? The most emotionally intense
color is arguably red. Even though we don t always notice it, red effects our moods, how we perceive

If one competitor is weak and another is strong, wearing red won t change that. But the closer the
levels of the two players, the more the color will have an influence on the other opponent (Ahmed

more mistakes, and even feel guilt or hatred while in the game. Pink, a lighter shade of red, has a
slightly different effect. Though still a shade of red, it has a dramatic difference in how it can make us
feel. Pink sneaks in feeling of love, serenity, and can drain energy. Which is why often times teams
paint their opponents locker rooms pink, in hopes to make them a little more relaxed and drained
before games. Clothing A study at University of Rochester was done on how the color red can effect

The Industrial Revolution
The Industrial Revolution that occurred in the late Nineteenth Century brought many new jobs that
were drastically different to the jobs that previous Americans held. While agricultural jobs still existed
and were vitally important to the sustainability of the American economy, the new factory jobs that
opened up created many new work opportunities for Americans and immigrants who came from
Europe. However, the problem with all these new industrial jobs was that they had very poor working
conditions and the work hours were long and unfair. This along with the low wages made these jobs
undesirable. Despite this, immigrant workers continued to work under these conditions because they
had nowhere else to obtain work and quitting would make it almost impossible for them to find a job
somewhere else with better working conditions and wages. The result of the low wages meant that
many immigrants living on the East Coast of the United States lived below the poverty line. There was
a fundamental problem with the working and living conditions the immigrants were experiencing.
Two political organizations of this era sought to fix this problem with two contrasting methods. The
Progressive Reformers were a political organization that sought out to set permanent fixes to these
conditions and make it possible for the immigrants to be self sustaining. On the other hand, the
political machines, more specifically Tammany Hall of Manhattan, sought to make changes by

The Human Rights Act
What are we to make then of the promise of the Human Rights Act that it would provide for better
protection of civil liberties? KD Ewing The Futility of the Human Rights Act (2004) Public Law
Background to the Human Rights Act (HRA)
The Human Rights Act 1998 (HRA) was granted royal assent on the 9th November 1998, however, it
was not fully implemented until the 2nd of October 2000. Previous to the implementation of the HRA
, anyone who wanted to challenge the decision of the UK Government for non compliance with the
European Convention of Human Rights had to take their case to the European Court of Human Rights
(ECtHR), which is situated in Strasbourg, France. An individual could only go to ECtHR once they
had established that ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
An example of this prior to the HRA , can be seen in the telephone tapping case of Malone v UK taken
to the ECtHR, which led to the enactment of the Interception of Communications Act with provision
now contained in the Regulation of Investigatory Powers Act . The labour government bill stated, the
time has come to enable people to enforce their Convention rights against the state in the British
courts ... In other words to bring the rights home.
The Labour Party emphasised that their aim was for the incorporation of the HRA to be boarder and
deeper than just saving time and money . Within the second reading of the Bill the Lord Chancellor
said that the incorporation of the Convention rights through the proposed HRA will:
Deliver a modern reconciliation, of the inevitable tension between the democratic right of the majority
to exercise political power and the democratic need of individuals and minorities to have their human
rights secured.
When drafting the HRA it was decided that some articles of the ECHR would not be included, such as
Article 1 (Respecting Rights) and Article 13 (Right to an Effective Remedy). Parliament believed that
it was not essential to include these articles within the HRA , as the ECHR are protected by the
domestic courts by the enactment of the HRA,

How Did Alice Become A Vampire
Alice let her ice blue eyes sweep over the crowded room before her gaze fell upon the Master
Vampires. She needed air. Needed a way to escape this stuffy crowded ballroom before she went
insane. Dropping her gaze back onto the group she stood with, Alice took a small step back before
turning on the heel of her shoe, then vanishing into the crowd. Placing her empty wine glass down on
a passing tray, Alice stopped one last time, before pushing the glass door open that led onto the
balcony. A rush of cold air blasted her pale angelic face, and a small fanged smile appeared as she
slipped through the crack, and into the night. Sitting on the edge of the stone balcony, she let her ice
blue eyes sweep over the foggy castle gardens. Fog around the castle was common, and it took her a
long time to get used to it. Though she was a vampire, fog for some unknown reason made her slightly
uneasy. Even before she became immortal, fog normally scared her, and she rarely liked to be in it.
Since becoming a vampire, Alice still had great distaste for the fog, but as long as she wasn t in it then
she was able to just deal with it. Perhaps she has read one to many ghost stories back in the day or
maybe it was because she was just a sensitive soul. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
She was a pretty little thing which was part of the reason why Thomas was so soft on her. He viewed
her as a fragile thing that could break at any second. Fragile looking she was, but she was also a
cunning little thing. Alice spent most if not all her time within the walls of the library reading just
about anything she could get her pale slender fingers on. Her favorite spot in the whole castle, was a
window seat in the library that over looked the rose garden. She would sit there for hours, just reading,
and enjoying the moonlight that made her look like an actual living

Analysis Of Pest Analysis Airline Industry
2. ANALYSIS OF THE EXTERNAL AND INDUSTRY ENVIRONMENT.
PEST is «an acronym for political, economic, social, and technological external factors that commonly
affect business activities and performance» (Aguilar, 1967). PESTE is a variation of PEST analysis
and it includes environmental factors in the macro environment.
2.1. Political Factors.
Political arena has a huge influence upon the regulation of businesses. It includes government
regulations and legal issues under which business should operate.
The United Kingdom s political stability was tested by the London terrorist bombings several times
during the last decade. Of course it led to a slight drop of the airline industry (Keynote, 2013), because
of strengthening airport and flight security the profitability of major airlines reduced.
Other political factor which influence on airline sector is «EU Clamps Down on Airline Fares».

Increasing strength of the pound against major global currencies is an advantage for the airline
industry of the UK. The inflationary and fluctuation tendencies of the dollar have worked to the
advantage of the UK airline industry (Keynote, 2013). Nevertheless, the domestic economic growth s
slowdown has affected the airline industry of UK since it has decreased the power of the people to use
air as their preferred type of traveling. The recent global economic meltdown hit the airline industry
very hard. Most of the major players of Great Britain airline industry suffered from massive wastes
during the global economic meltdown (Business Week, 2008). For some of them was had to lay off
their workers during the recession. As we have already told in our work the increased cost of fuel
affected this industry. This has impacted on the profitability of the airline industry and the situation
has been worsened by the situation in the Arab world (Done,

Summary And Interaction Of Celebration Of Discipline By...
Daniel Farias
Professor Wilson, Joy Thompson
Spirit Empowered Living
9 September 16, 2015 Summary and Interaction of Celebration of Discipline by Richard J. Foster
In the beginning of Celebration of Discipline, Richard J. Foster undergoes a thorough explanation of
our ages most desperate need; deep people. He proclaims how our superficiality and lack of common
sense regarding spiritual life has crippled us and left us living in the surface rather than depts. He
mentions how we have gotten accustomed to relying on our own willpower ultimately not containing
the correct attitude or reasons for practicing the classical disciplines. Therefore, we lack the pieces of
our inward and outward life as believers of Christ. Foster ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
This brings the second inward discipline, prayer. Prayer is mentioned as one of the most central
disciples due to its intimacy of conversation between us and god himself. Foster describes prayer as
our ability to ask for change in circumstances, to pray is to change (P.33). He explains how Jesus often
withdrew from the crowds to pray to his father. like so, we should withdraw from time to time. Our
disciplines can coincide just as fasting does with prayer; thus being the third discipline prescribed.
Fasting is the abstaining from food for scriptural purpose. (p.48) and is said to be seen as a desperate
measure for emergency. Foster goes deeper into how and why a Christian should fast, but mostly
focuses on its meaning of self control and its centrality being god. Foster s final inward discipline is
the practice of study. Study is the focus to our total transformation from our old selves. It is a specific
experience aimed to form Christian habits. With that, Foster breaks down study into four steps;
repetition, reflection, understanding, and experience which ingrain those habits. In the second part of
the book, Celebration of Discipline, Foster outlines the four outward disciplines. These being;
simplicity, solitude, submission, and service. Simplicity as foster states is an inward reality that results
in an outward life style. (p. 80) which is meant to live out. He says we should be

Sandra Cisneros
Sandra Cisneros, an author who is deeply inspired by her Mexican American heritage. This inspiration
is clearly shown throughout every one of her writing pieces such as Salvador Late or Early and Eleven
. Both short stories focus on adolescents with a mature mindset and adult precision, and each story
does a marvelous job portraying Cisneros constant writing style. Salvador Late or Early is focusing on
a young boy, Salvador, with heavy burdens to carry on his shoulders, which is unfortunate because he
is such a young boy with an old soul. The responsibilities he has are unimaginable due to the fact they
don t pertain to his age. The short story Eleven is about an eleven year old girl named Rachel, a
forthright character who explains ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Salvador Late or Early includes figurative language all throughout the short story. For example,
Salvador with eyes the color of caterpillar, (Paragraph 1, Line 1) is a metaphor suggesting
metamorphosis and even though he is a caterpillar stuck inside its cocoon, he will soon become a
beautiful, graceful butterfly. This metaphor gives rise to the artistic voice and thematic meaning
because the message this short story is trying to send is that no matter how worthless one may feel and
if they think that they ll never have enough power to hatch out of their cocoon, in the end, they will
always become the beautiful, graceful butterfly they were all along. Another example of figurative
language in Salvador Late or Early is a metaphor in paragraph 2: Arturito has dropped the cigar box of
crayons, has let go the hundred little fingers of red, green, yellow, blue, and nub of black sticks that
tumble and spill over and beyond the asphalt puddles... This symbolizes a rainbow after a storm, and
the deeper meaning behind this symbolism is that although Salvador is caught in the middle of a brutal
storm, the sun will soon come out and he will find a rainbow. One example of figurative language in
Eleven is when Rachel uses similes such as Because the way you grow old is kind of like an onion or
like the rings inside a tree trunk or like my little

The Polonium Project
Imagine building something in history that changed people s thoughts on war and weapons, that s
exactly what the atomic bomb did. The atomic bomb was made all over the United States with
thousands of fascinating technicians. The bomb changed many people s outlooks on the creation of
something as huge and powerful as this. The idea of creating such a powerful weapon came about
when Franklin D. Roosevelt received a letter from Albert Einstein and his Hungarian colleague, Leo
Szilard. This letter was to convince President Roosevelt that they needed to create an atomic bomb.
The axis powers had the atomic technology to make bombs and other weapons with it. To keep this
project secret and away from the axis powers, the Americans named it The ... Show more content on

Hundreds of thousands of civilians were vaporized and saturated with radiation. Survivors faced
radiation sickness, starvation, and crippling mutilations. The deaths of Japanese soldiers and civilians
reached around three million. There was also extreme damage after the bombs were dropped. The
islands were subjected to a naval blockade that made food and fuel increasingly scarce. Many of the
deaths were from the initial blast or burns, but (as mentioned) many people died from radiation
sickness. They suffered nausea, vomiting, diarrhea, fever and weakness. People also had internal
bleeding and bled from their mouths, throats and other places in their bodies. Children growing up in
the late 1940s 60s feared atomic bombs at young ages. The bomb seemed to be like the new
Bogeyman. Schools began to prepare for a bomb if there ever were one to come again, this plan was
called the duck and cover. While people believe that the atomic bomb was a horrendous idea, others
believe it was a very effective and efficient idea. These people who believe it was a good idea believe
that the atomic bomb ended the

Relationship Between Board Size And Firm Performance
.4 Discussion of Results
The results found in this study suggest that some of the relationships found during the literature
review can be confirmed. For example, the literature states that smaller boards of directors reduce the
coordination problems that lead to improved firm performance relative to larger boards of directors
(Kini et al, 1995; Yermack, 1996; Eisenberg et al, 1998). This study found significant empirical
evidence with the sample of FTSE 100 companies that this is the case which supports these findings.
It should be noted, that Haleblian and Finkelstein (1993) suggested sensibly that boards of directors
that are too small can also be hampered in their ability to monitor management particularly in complex
firms such as those ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
This study instead found, in some cases when Tobin s q was used as the measure of firm performance,
that there could be a significant negative relationship between the proportion of external directors and
firm performance. No such relationship was found when ROA used as the measure of firm
performance. These results indicate that the significant relationship found might be spurious.
Also, the review of the literature found evidence that there should be a positive relationship between
shareholder concentration in the hands of significant minority shareholders but no such relationship
was found in the sample of FTSE 100 companies used in this study. Even after this study attempted to
correct for some data problems by removing those companies within the dataset where the
shareholding was concentrated in the hands of significant majority shareholders and their related
parties, there was no statistically significant relationship between shareholder concentration and firm
performance.
There are several possible explanations for the lack of strong relationships in this study. The first
concerns the choice of variables to be used as proxies for measuring firm performance. This study
chose to use the return on assets and Tobin s q and found that the results differed significantly
depending on the choice

that the birth narratives in both Matthew and Luke helps their readers to know who Jesus is and where

Luke s genealogy of Jesus and his birth focuses on Mary Jesus s mother. Luke tells the story from her
perspective. Luke could have found Mary and spoke to her himself, because, at that time he was in
Palestine with Paul. It was Luke who recorded the annunciation to Mary, her visit to Elizabeth, the
birth and childhood of John, the birth of Jesus, the coming of the shepherds and the announcement of
the angels, and the circumcision of Jesus and other comments regarding the childhood of Jesus.

Physical Therapy Goals
As a physical therapist, I will embody APTA s vision by providing quality, client centered therapy
geared toward improving each patient s life by enhancing his or her movement capabilities. Limited or
painful movement can create a multitude of issues for a person, and my goal is to allay each of these
when treating patients. To provide the best care possible, I will be perceptive of clients needs as well
as individual traits and always have the patient s best interest in mind.
Restoring and improving movement are among the key goals of physical therapy. However, movement
is not only beneficial to keeping one s body healthy but also essential to maintaining physical, mental,
and spiritual health. During my physical therapy observation and my own personal experience with a
debilitating stingray wound, I realized that humans become unhappy and even depressed due to
limited mobility. I would link their depression to their curtailed human experience. According to the
Anxiety and Depression Association of America (ADAA), exercise is...considered vital for
maintaining mental fitness, and it can reduce stress. As a physical therapist, my goal will be not only

To optimize movement for a diverse and changing society, it is vital that I approach each examination,
diagnosis and intervention ready to address a wide range of character traits. For instance, based on my
knowledge of the human body and best practices of physical therapy, I may conclude that aquatic
therapy is necessary for an elderly patient s optimal recovery from a knee surgery. However, if that
patient has a phobia of water, trying to force him or her into the water will remove any initial trust
between the patient and myself. While I would still highly recommend water therapy, other
alternatives will need to be considered. Eventually, personal care for that patient may even build their
trust up enough to allow them to overcome their

  • 2. The Oppression Of Motherhood When will you have a child? is a question often heard by women nearing a certain age, or upon achieving certain milestones in her life (such as marriage or after her 30th birthday). While it may be true that women are indeed the only ones with the ability to bear children, having a child is portrayed as a woman s right of passage. Individuals frequently overstep boundaries of privacy and inquire insensitively about a woman s personal plan for children, and the male glorifying society is to be blamed for this prying and expectation. Due to the fact that motherhood in general is largely linked to women s subordination to men, voluntary alternate decisions are subject to public criticism for violating the dominant norm. However, what if a woman truly has no desire to become a mother? Is it really something that every woman should aspire to? Why are women who opt not to procreate stigmatized in the first place? Is motherhood really as rewarding as portrayed to be? It is vital to note that is essay is not intended to degrade or discredit motherhood, as it is truly an extremely imperative, praiseworthy role, but, to closely examine ... Though the media portrayals of family ideals change from era to era, historically, characters such as Carol Brady (mother and step mother) from The Brady Bunch, Clair Huxtable (African American, working mother) from The Cosby Show, or Lorelai Gilmore (single, working mother) from Gilmore Girls primarily depict a selfless mother s ability to do it all with little complaint, out of pure love for her ... • 3. Persuasive Essay On Tattoos And Tattoos There are many ways people influence one another to begin a trend, like social media; it s where everyone finds out what is in style, to be like everyone else. Most people feel the need to follow others because of what they see in someone else s life such as tattoos and piercing. Just because someone has something that catches people s attention it most likely doesn t mean it will have the same result on you. Regarding tattoos and piercing, people need to be aware of infections, the holes they leave behind and the money invested in a change. The body design is always seen different by everyone because it is a different piece of art on oneself. It is an attraction of what other people have on or in their body to create a new reborn self of ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Likewise, piercing are a piece of jewelry on the body that makes the skin more appealing, which is also another popular trend in social media. I tend to have a fascination with how piercing would make me more attractive. Furthermore, from my own experience ever since I was a baby I had ear piercing. At age sixteen I then realized I wanted more piercing on my bodies such as my cartilage, nose, and naval. Lesley would always tell me, Damn another one? don t you think piercing cause infections and holes?, and I replied with, Yeah, it all depends on how you take care of your body like putting Vaseline or Aquaphor to smooth and resist infections. Lesley replied You re crazy! you like pain huh? but I give you props damn warrior. As crazy as it sounds I see piercing as my friend Lesley sees tattoos different but cute. The pain is quick like a sharp stinging sensation of a bee; however, piercing are a lot cheaper but yet more pain tolerating than that of a tattoo. The appearance of how someone looks can boost their self confidence and inspire others to get what they want due to their appearance. As for myself, I got multiple compliments in my belly button piercing which made me happy to know I created my new self that will do anything to satisfy my soul. • 4. The History of Rock and Roll Essay Rock and roll has developed a long way throughout the years from a dance craze in the 1950 s to a political and cultural landscape that is recognized worldwide. Rock and roll has come to define the roots of teenage rebellion, people who don t follow the norms, and have disrespect for authority. The style of rock and roll itself is a melting pot of music, a combination of sounds that include jazz, country, blues, ragtime, gospel, swing, classical, and ethnic music. It can be a simple variation of three chords to a complex chromatic scale combination. It can convey emotions such as love, hate, fear, lust, sadness, joy, disillusion, or a strong sense of reality. The Grateful Dead fused country, blues, jazz, and bluegrass on electric instruments and held acid tests where LSD was given to thousands of people and a concert was held all day. Janis Joplin was also a major part of the psychedelic era. Blues also heavily influenced Janis, who greatly admired the female blues singer Odetta (Kallen 65). Janis is most remembered for her heavily emotional voice in songs such as Piece of My Heart and Ball and Chain where she sang with her face contorted, sometimes stamping her feet, clutching the microphone with one hand, and a whiskey bottle with the other. Of all the artists of the psychedelic era, Jimi Hendrix was the most influential. Jimi took inspiration from the soulful guitar of blues players and developed his own style from it. Jimi was left handed and played his Stratocaster guitar upside down while creating unearthly sounds that humbled other guitarists of the time. Hendrix was unknown until playing at the Monterey Pop Festival in 1967 where he played an amazing array of songs and then lit his guitar on fire at the end of the show (DeCurtis 133). Although Jimi seemed like a very wild and unpredictable person on stage he was actually a focused musician, that part of Jimi s personality is explained in this quote by Ernie Isley: The best musicians are very observant. They hold their arms wide, willing to embrace suggestions; they study their craft, and Jimi certainly did all that. (Lanham 102) But as ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Tell City is a pretty boring town, and there is not really much to do here. However, you can have fun for cheap if you know where to go. We have a movie theater, restaurants, hiking trails, and plenty of grocery stores around town that you can go to to find snacks and meals to prepare. Many people that live here complain that they never have anything to do. People also complain that anything we can do costs too much money. This case also puts in question the rights of the authority placed in our streets, neighborhoods and towns to perform actions directed towards certain citizens in an effort to serve and protect the overall population. There must be a careful analysis in order to interpret the records of the incident that occurred to conclude who holds the most justified position in this case under the applicable laws. The Court of Appeals of the State of New York must also take into careful consideration the circumstances discussed and the ruling given by the District Court assigned to this case, which I ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Defendant Miller evidently avoided walking by the officers. There are precise rules that involve the stopping of an individual by the authority. The Fourth Amendment states that the right of the people to be secure in their persons, houses, papers, and effects, against unreasonable searches and seizures, shall not be violated... . Specific distinctions within the Amendment are made in the prior case of Terry v. Ohio (392 U.S. 1 [1968]). These distinctions discuss the rules and regulations adherent to stops of individuals by the authority. According to Justice Warren, delivering the opinion of the court in this case, the police should be allowed to stop a person and detaining him briefly for questioning upon suspicion that the individual may be connected with criminal activity . This statement basically explains that unusual conduct of an individual observed by the authorities can give reasonable suspicion that criminal activity may be afoot. This reasonable suspicion is grounds for a stop and brief questioning by the authorities. So, accordingly following these sets of rules, I must analyze how the law applies to reach a decision in favor, or in opposition to the stop of an individual. Defendant Miller clearly showed unusual conduct while walking in the street. He walked in one direction, looked toward the direction of the cops, and more profoundly made eye contact with one ... Rural towns do have their ups and downs. For instance, in a house out in the country, you can take a leak off of your back porch, and no one will care. However, the location of many small country towns makes them a target for trouble. And out away from civilization, there may be no one to help you in your time of need. So what are the pros and cons of rural life? Let s talk about the good things first. A popular good thing that comes to mind is privacy. Privacy is a window to freedom. You can piss off of your front porch and no one cares, you can listen to your music as loud as you want to, and you can roam free in your underwear and, likely, no one will see you. Privacy is good, but what else is nice about small town America? One word: Friends. Annexation is the action of invading, most times it was about invading land. There were more Americans living in Texas then there were Mexicans. Eventually Texas became an independent republic in 1836, this simply added to the events leading up to the war with Mexico. The purpose of this essay is to understand the Annexation of Texas, how the war with Mexico began, what happened in the Mexican war, who contributed to the Annexation of Texas, and how all this ties in with Manifest Destiny. The Mexican war had many battles, while America won all battles fought, Mexico was adamant in putting up a fight against America, as they were not willing to give up Texas to America. The Mexican war lasted longer than Polk had hoped for, it lasted well over a year. While war continued Polk feared that Taylor could not achieve tactical skills to defeat Mexico. Polk also feared that Taylor would gain political power if he was successful with his tactic against Mexico, and he did gain that political power that Polk feared he would have. While Polk was fearful he also went ahead and made orders to move offensive tactics against New Mexico and California. Kearny saw that America needed help, so he helped to bring American forces together under his command, eventually they had complete control over California. Mexico was still adamant not to be defeated by America. Polk and General Winfield Scott decided that the war had gone on long enough. Scott advanced on the Mexicans, and while he did so he was able to keep a low body count of his own soldiers, while he had never lost a battle before finally seizing the Mexican capital. After seizing the Mexican capital, a New Mexican government took control and was now willing to negotiate peace with America. Polk still was wanting to annex more of Mexico, but wanted the war to be over so, he sent Nicholas Trist to decide on a settlement. ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

But to me leadership is much more than a blanketed definition. It evokes more than that. I feel as though I have been through countless leadership experiences. But none more memorable than being the leader of my own Eagle project. The project had a focus on puppies and puppy training. The project was for the Guide Dogs of Texas Organization. My project involved two phases. Cabinets for laundry room storage and puppy training agility equipment. The first phase was straightforward and done without much hassle. The Guide Dogs of Texas had a need for laundry storage to help with their newly formed workload coming from their upcoming litter of puppies. The cabinets would serve to greatly reduce the efforts required from having to provide the puppies with new sheets at least three times a day. The second phase was a little more complex. My project coach and I came up with the idea of constructing agility equipment to help train the puppies into becoming guide dogs. In days past, there was little difference between the quality of life between a ruler and his subject. Alluding to a time when Carnegie visited the chief of an indigenous American tribe, he observed that the Chief of the Indians , who lived in a state of antiquity, tent was no different from even the poorest among the tribe. Returning back to this stage of civilization would be detrimental to both the ruler and subject. Is it better for all of us to live in poverty than for a few of us to have riches? Shouldn t those who prove themselves masters in art and literature and those of higher intelligence have more than those with no talent? This is the way society is progressing. Whether or not one actually believes that doesn t matter, as changing the destiny of civilization is beyond one s power. (Carnegie, 28 29) It is better to improve society through the construction public foundations such as museums and libraries rather than alms giving. Through alms giving, one encourages laziness and vagrancy rather than integrity, and thus damages society. Through public structures, one provides support for those who actually wish to succeed can rise in society. Those who are most deserving of alms rarely need ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

It is arguable due to the advantages and disadvantages that come into to play with every decision. Some stand on the side of the dispute that ethical behavior may slow down one s rate of success, but it ensures that success is accomplished morally and justly. On the other hand, some blatantly argue that ethical behavior is not necessary when one is on the thin line between success and failure. In other words, this side believes unethical behavior is not a problem when one is in desperate need of higher achievement. Businesses often display unethical behavior towards their customers through their advertising in the media, towards their employees through mistreatment, and towards their investors through bribery. In each topic, the importance of ethical behavior is evident. Ethical Issues Involving the Media Media advertisements can contain untrue and misleading information regarding a product. An advertisement for the popular drink known as Vitamin Water has proved to be unethical and deceptive towards customers. An ever growing, top of the line airport has been built for those coming in and out of the country. From the outside, Mumbai seems to enjoy being internationally integrated with the rest of world, otherwise known as globalization. However, this is not the case as seen in Katherine Boo s novel Behind the Beautiful Forevers: Life, Death, and Hope in a Mumbai Undercity. This novel is set in a slum right next to the Mumbai International Airport called Annawadi. It focuses mainly on the life and story of the main character, Abdul. Abdul Husain and his family make a living by selling scrap metal tossed out by the upper class of Mumbai. When looking at Abdul s story, one can see the corruption that made it near impossible for globalization to have a positive effect on Annawadi. Abdul s relationship with his neighbor, one legged Fatima, also shows how neighborhood relationships were a barrier to Annawadi s ability to be a part of Mumbai s globalization. Before examining the reasons for Annawadi s lack of effects from globalization, one must look at some of the reasons as to why Annawadi faces the shocking amount of poverty that it does. In the novel, Boo writes, What you don t want is always going to be with you. What you want is never going to be with you. Where you don t want to go, you have to go. If they didn?t come from Bordeaux, France, I didn?t consider them worthy. Typically, my purchases would feature wines from M?doc, Margaux, Pauillac, Saint Emilion, Pomerol and Graves. This all changed in my late forties, I was gifted with several bottles of red wine from various countries including Australia, Chile and the United States (California). Begrudgingly, I accepted the fact that good red wine needn?t come from France. This oenophilia did not preclude my consumption of ?inferior? wines; it merely dispatched them to a list of wines I would never consider buying for myself. I assumed that if I couldn?t ... I had learned of the pleasures of the red wines from Piedmont, Italy. The incredible richness of Australian Shiraz proved it as an acceptable alternative to its Rhone Valley cousin. However, it took another experience with Rioja in my early fifties to start my exploration of Spanish wines. Overview To do justice to the subject of Spanish wines requires more than a single post, coverage befitting the third largest producer of wine, behind France and Italy, simply cannot be done within the limits of a single short article and summarization does a disservice to the exceptional wine making reputation of Spain?s dedicated vintners. Any worthwhile discussion of Spain?s wine making needs to include, at a minimum, an overview of the wine making regulations, under which vintners operate, the labeling requirements and what that means that means to consumers. After ?lo these concepts are covered, a discussion of the wine growing areas, the grape varietals and the resulting wines produces a sharper picture of Spain?s wines. He believes by affirming life in both its cruelty and beauty that we can achieve joy in the present without the need for beliefs in an afterlife or future existences. • 27. Allaphor To God And The Bible In Mary Shelley s Frankenstein In Mary Shelley s Frankenstein, there are several references to God and the bible, specifically the book of Genesis. Shelley uses allusion to point to the idea of the parallels between Victor and the Monster and the story of Adam and Eve. These allusions are not only comparisons of Victor to God and the Monster to Adam but also Victor to Adam. Driven by his mother s own death, Victor looked to science for a way to combat death and illness for his own personal benefit and glory. By giving his creation life, he manages to attain the knowledge and status similar to that of God. The creation of this monster, like Prometheus stealing of fire, leads to Victor s punishment. His life becomes one of loneliness and isolation, brought upon him by the creation of his creature and his attempt to be God. His carelessness and inability to fully understand the complications with his experiment contributed to his downfall and ultimately leads to a diversion in this comparison. Bodies Victor and the creation of his monster to God and the creation of Adam, I feel as though another implication could be made. Victor Frankenstein could be seen as Adam. In Genesis God says to Adam, But of the tree of the knowledge of good and evil, thou shalt not eat of it: for in the day that thou eatest thereof thou shalt surely die (Genesis 2). The creation of the monster sets off a series of events ultimately ending in the death of Victor s family, leaving him to die alone in isolation. The ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

It follows us everywhere, and we can t escape it no matter how hard we try. It doesn t make a sound or move, it just silently hides in plain sight effecting the way we think. Colors are one of the most effective yet least thought about influences on our minds. How come seemingly every super hero has a red suit? Or why are the super villains always wearing black? Why are hospitals never painted red, and most businesses have white, yellow, and red for their logo colors? The most emotionally intense color is arguably red. Even though we don t always notice it, red effects our moods, how we perceive others, our health, and even how we talk. It also ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... If one competitor is weak and another is strong, wearing red won t change that. But the closer the levels of the two players, the more the color will have an influence on the other opponent (Ahmed Abdul Sherif). Having red as a team color can make the other team feel anxious, cause them to make more mistakes, and even feel guilt or hatred while in the game. Pink, a lighter shade of red, has a slightly different effect. Though still a shade of red, it has a dramatic difference in how it can make us feel. Pink sneaks in feeling of love, serenity, and can drain energy. Which is why often times teams paint their opponents locker rooms pink, in hopes to make them a little more relaxed and drained before games. Clothing A study at University of Rochester was done on how the color red can effect how men think of women. In the first test, they held up one of two pictures. Both were pictures of the same woman, but she was wearing red in one, and blue in the other. In the second test, they held up one of two pictures as well. The two pictures were exactly alike, but one had a red border around the picture, and the other had black. On average 85% of the men said the woman with either the red border or the red shirt was more attractive. They also said they would be willing to do more for and spend more on the woman in red (someone). This wasn t the case when asked which woman looked more intellectual. • 36. The Industrial Revolution The Industrial Revolution that occurred in the late Nineteenth Century brought many new jobs that were drastically different to the jobs that previous Americans held. While agricultural jobs still existed and were vitally important to the sustainability of the American economy, the new factory jobs that opened up created many new work opportunities for Americans and immigrants who came from Europe. However, the problem with all these new industrial jobs was that they had very poor working conditions and the work hours were long and unfair. This along with the low wages made these jobs undesirable. Despite this, immigrant workers continued to work under these conditions because they had nowhere else to obtain work and quitting would make it almost impossible for them to find a job somewhere else with better working conditions and wages. The result of the low wages meant that many immigrants living on the East Coast of the United States lived below the poverty line. There was a fundamental problem with the working and living conditions the immigrants were experiencing. Two political organizations of this era sought to fix this problem with two contrasting methods. The Progressive Reformers were a political organization that sought out to set permanent fixes to these conditions and make it possible for the immigrants to be self sustaining. On the other hand, the political machines, more specifically Tammany Hall of Manhattan, sought to make changes by directly helping the ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

When drafting the HRA it was decided that some articles of the ECHR would not be included, such as Article 1 (Respecting Rights) and Article 13 (Right to an Effective Remedy). • 40. How Did Alice Become A Vampire Alice let her ice blue eyes sweep over the crowded room before her gaze fell upon the Master Vampires. She needed air. Needed a way to escape this stuffy crowded ballroom before she went insane. Dropping her gaze back onto the group she stood with, Alice took a small step back before turning on the heel of her shoe, then vanishing into the crowd. Placing her empty wine glass down on a passing tray, Alice stopped one last time, before pushing the glass door open that led onto the balcony. A rush of cold air blasted her pale angelic face, and a small fanged smile appeared as she slipped through the crack, and into the night. Sitting on the edge of the stone balcony, she let her ice blue eyes sweep over the foggy castle gardens. Fog around the castle was common, and it took her a long time to get used to it. Though she was a vampire, fog for some unknown reason made her slightly uneasy. Even before she became immortal, fog normally scared her, and she rarely liked to be in it. Since becoming a vampire, Alice still had great distaste for the fog, but as long as she wasn t in it then she was able to just deal with it. Prayer is mentioned as one of the most central disciples due to its intimacy of conversation between us and god himself. Foster describes prayer as our ability to ask for change in circumstances, to pray is to change (P.33). He explains how Jesus often withdrew from the crowds to pray to his father. like so, we should withdraw from time to time. Our disciplines can coincide just as fasting does with prayer; thus being the third discipline prescribed. Fasting is the abstaining from food for scriptural purpose. (p.48) and is said to be seen as a desperate measure for emergency. Foster goes deeper into how and why a Christian should fast, but mostly focuses on its meaning of self control and its centrality being god. Foster s final inward discipline is the practice of study. Study is the focus to our total transformation from our old selves. It is a specific experience aimed to form Christian habits. With that, Foster breaks down study into four steps; repetition, reflection, understanding, and experience which ingrain those habits. In the second part of the book, Celebration of Discipline, Foster outlines the four outward disciplines. These being; simplicity, solitude, submission, and service. Simplicity as foster states is an inward reality that results in an outward life style. (p. 80) which is meant to live out. He says we should be ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Salvador Late or Early includes figurative language all throughout the short story. For example, Salvador with eyes the color of caterpillar, (Paragraph 1, Line 1) is a metaphor suggesting metamorphosis and even though he is a caterpillar stuck inside its cocoon, he will soon become a beautiful, graceful butterfly. This metaphor gives rise to the artistic voice and thematic meaning because the message this short story is trying to send is that no matter how worthless one may feel and if they think that they ll never have enough power to hatch out of their cocoon, in the end, they will always become the beautiful, graceful butterfly they were all along. Another example of figurative language in Salvador Late or Early is a metaphor in paragraph 2: Arturito has dropped the cigar box of crayons, has let go the hundred little fingers of red, green, yellow, blue, and nub of black sticks that tumble and spill over and beyond the asphalt puddles... This symbolizes a rainbow after a storm, and the deeper meaning behind this symbolism is that although Salvador is caught in the middle of a brutal storm, the sun will soon come out and he will find a rainbow. • 45. Relationship Between Board Size And Firm Performance .4 Discussion of Results The results found in this study suggest that some of the relationships found during the literature review can be confirmed. For example, the literature states that smaller boards of directors reduce the coordination problems that lead to improved firm performance relative to larger boards of directors (Kini et al, 1995; Yermack, 1996; Eisenberg et al, 1998). This study found significant empirical evidence with the sample of FTSE 100 companies that this is the case which supports these findings. This study instead found, in some cases when Tobin s q was used as the measure of firm performance, that there could be a significant negative relationship between the proportion of external directors and firm performance. No such relationship was found when ROA used as the measure of firm performance. These results indicate that the significant relationship found might be spurious. Also, the review of the literature found evidence that there should be a positive relationship between shareholder concentration in the hands of significant minority shareholders but no such relationship was found in the sample of FTSE 100 companies used in this study. Even after this study attempted to correct for some data problems by removing those companies within the dataset where the shareholding was concentrated in the hands of significant majority shareholders and their related parties, there was no statistically significant relationship between shareholder concentration and firm performance. There are several possible explanations for the lack of strong relationships in this study. The first concerns the choice of variables to be used as proxies for measuring firm performance.
