The World Is Too Much With Us By William Wordsworth
The Romantic period is a time when artists, poets, and writers turned their views from the
eighteenth century focus on reason and thinking. They now emphasize imagination and beauty in
nature. Reason and thinking are no longer the way to see how the world works, how to gain
experience, imagination is. Literature, writing, and art during this time find a new respect and
love for nature, the common man and childhood, senses, individual, and imagination. People at
the time were also intrigued by darker and exotic things. They felt as if it was finally acceptable
to rebel, think outside the box , and focus on human rights. Although Romantics were
concentrating on these good ideas, all of their work was not always the most pleasant. Often
times it would involve death or darkness. The Romantic period is complex one filled with
contradicting and empowering ideas and works that are remembered very well. The Raft of the
Medusa was painted approximately in 1818 1819 by a prodigious French painter Theodore... Show

It emphasizes that the world today is too materialistic and distracted. This poem argues that
there is too much happening in the world that people often times do not appreciate it and see
what it truly is. Instead of being amazed and recognizing the beauty of nature, people ignore it
and do not care since they see it all of the time. The speaker says that people will go as far as
selling their souls to accumulate other things. The sonnet is an extended metaphor that compares
the speaker to a pagan to explain that the speaker would much rather worship other gods in order
to make himself less upset over the situation. He feels that pagans have a much stronger
appreciation and love for nature. This pagan influence can also be seen when the speaker refers to
Greek gods. According to the speaker, those gods have power over nature but still appreciates

The Capet Mass And The Caput Mass
Homework #6
1.Define the Caput Mass and the cyclic Mass and identify which one is a type of the other.
Before delving into what the Caput Mass is, it s important to know it s origins and what
led to it s creation. One type of mass that was a predecessor to the the Caput Mass was the
cyclic Mass, which is a work featuring the major sections of the liturgy (the Ordinary) as one
musical (not liturgical) unit that includes a cantus firmus, modes, motives, or other
composititional procedures. The differences between the cyclic Mass and the Ordinary are
that the cyclic Mass doesn t contain the final Ite missa est, and the cyclic Mass isn t liturgical
because the components of it (Kyrie, Gloria, Credo, Sanctus, and Agnus Dei) are not united,
despite being unchanging. The cyclic Mass also became the major genre that composers
utilized during the 1400s to build their own works upon and allow their skills in emulation and
composition to shine, because the cyclic Mass was large and very complex in multiple parts.
In fact, due to how popular and monumental the cyclic Mass was amongst composers during
those days, the cyclic Mass is often compared to symphonies during the 18th and 19th centuries.
However, in a musical sense, the cyclic Mass and the 18th 19th century symphonies cannot
really be compared to each other because the movements of the cyclic Mass had to resemble

The Impact of Advertising on Perceived Gender Roles
The role and function of advertising is a debatable one. Most would argue that since it is not
intended to be a governmental aid in ensuring and creating opportunities for equality, we are unable
to expect such efforts to be made within this industry. Advertisers have the job of selling, to
persuade and increase consumption as to satisfy the capitalist s pockets. The play on social injustice
often associated with this particular industry makes it relevant to question it though. Male
dominance in this area is evident, but are we not even to view men and women as equal in terms of
being potential consumers?
As illustrated by Spurlock and this piece of research, it is extremely difficult to not involve
advertisement in vocabulary and certain approaches to societal understanding. The present branding
culture is apparent and it is close to impossible to not have an opinion regarding this matter, which
incidentally causes discussion and debate, which in turn furthers the word of mouth usage of brands.
The impact of advertising on perceived gender roles is quite evident, and with plenty of
consequences, some of which we might not yet have experienced the full effect of. It is important
to remember that with a socialized consumer identity, the choices we make are not individual ones,
but is initiated by the manipulative skills of others . The high extent of advertisement we are put
through on a daily basis makes it very difficult to reflect upon the idea of choices and individual

Analysis Of The Movie Breaking Bad
In the crime drama television series, Breaking Bad we follow see the inner struggle of good and
evil within the main character throughout the entire series to the point where we question which
side of his personality we are witnessing. We see Walter White as a mild mannered and respectful
chemistry teacher who also works at a car wash to help provide for his family just like the typical
family man. Walter has a teenage son who has multiple sclerosis, and a wife who is pregnant with
their second child. After learning that he has been diagnosed with Stage IIIA lung cancer, Walter
decides quickly that he has to secure funds to help pay for his treatments, and also take care of
his family after his death. This decision would spark definite change in his lifestyle, relationships,
personality, and appearance. The result of this change would create the person we know so well,
Heisenberg. Heisenberg is the ruthless, power hungry individual that will do anything possible to
make sure that nothing gets in the way of his money, drug business, and security of himself or his
family. In this paper we will discuss how certain events make Walter White progressively become
darker throughout the series of Breaking Bad to the point where he becomes Heisenberg, as well as
comparing him to different characters of TV shows on television today.
There are many events that helped expedite Walter White s transition from the quiet chemistry
teacher to the vengeful crystal meth kingpin, but

Carers in Oban house care home in Croydon were recorded in around 2012 to be ignoring
bedridden 98 year old Yvonne Grant cries for help for2 ВЅ hours despite her calling for assistance
321 times including 45 requests to be taken to the toilet. When a carer finally acknowledged her
cries, she told Yvonne to use incontinence pads which was something that Yvonne wasn t
comfortable with doing. Staff then tried to make her walk to the toilet but when she was unable
to; they dropped her roughly back on to the bed. Yvonne had been living in the care home since
2010 and during the last years of her life her familybegan to worry about the quality of care that
she was receiving with staff ignoring any concerns that the family had. The family also stated that
there was something incorrect with staffs attitudes and quality of nursing. Yvonne s granddaughter
Vanessa Evans hid a camera in her room on three occasions after concerns about bruising on
Yvonne s hands and making mistakes with medication. When the family revealed that they had
been recording the abuse and neglect they stated that she gave up on life two days after. Yvonne
died in January 2013 due to the lack of care she received. The family passed the video evidence on
to the CQC who then launched an investigation.

Hougen Hd115 Unit 5
So, just over the weekend, we had a chance to get our hands on a brand new magnetic base drill
from one of our local dealers. The model was the HMD115 Ultra Low Profile Right Angle Drill
from Hougen. And as expected, our test experience was beyond our expectations.
Basically, mag drills, such as the HMD115, are essential pieces of equipment that should never be
missing in your work area. What s great about them is that they combine the power of a drill press
and an electromagnetic base, allowing the handyman to handle carbon steel surfaces. In other
words, they are specially designed for heavy steel sections. Now, I don t want you to wait any
longer, so let me finally begin with my review of the Hougen HMD115. Let s see if this is

Carnivalesque Grotesque Analysis
1st Draft Mark Lennon FACS Ross Birrell
Working Title: Present Systems and Prohibitions in relation to Carnivalesque Grotesque. Synopsis:
This essay will investigate wither the principles of Carnival Grotesque during the time of Francois
Rabelais writing still provide a function to berate and liberate us from current societal prohibitions.
It draws upon evaluating the writings of Georges Bataille s Base Materialism and Jean Baudrillard s
critique of consumerist capitalism specifically that of advertising to be utilised as a vessel in
understanding wither notions of the grotesque can still berate and liberate us from current social
phenomenas in a theoretical sense. In aid to this, It will draw upon contemporary sources that may
be similar in features and principles to the Carnivalesque Grotesque such as South Park and William
Wegman and evaluate wither they have successfully carried the principles and functions of it.
Chapter 1 presents an overview of the fundamental notions, characteristics and functions that
Mikthail Bakhtin derives to be the Carnivalesque Grotesque from Francois Rabelais s Gargantua
and Pantagruel . Chapter 2 examines the link between the Carnivalesque Grotesque specifically
Grotesque Realism and Georges Bataille s Base Materialism. Chapter 3 will introduce Jean
Baudrillard s The system of Objects and the functions of advertising being a contemporary
prohibition to that of Medieval hierarchy. Chapter 4 will evaluate contemporary sources

Targeting Teen Girls
Too much Pressure on Teen Girls to have the Perfect Body. The perfect body for a teen in
America would be identified as a flat stomach, tan skin, thigh gaps, small waist, and curvy
figure. Clothes sizes are extra small t shirts, 00 pants/short. But the truth is, not everyone has
this so called perfect body. It does not help that big named band stores are influencing this.
Constantly girls are targeted to have a perfect body. Unfortunately, teen girls are overwhelmed
by the pressure to look a certain way in today s societyIf you were to go out and walk around the
city or even a small town, you would constantly see something or someone advertising weight
loss such as TV ads, weight loss ads, shakes, diet pills, books, and even apps. The models who
advertise done help either, they were paid to make the product look good and say it works. But
then again if it doesn t, we wonder why. Industries are targeting young teens because they know at
this stage in their lives, they are vulnerable, are worried about how they look, and are trying to fit

Water For Elephants, By Sara Gruen
Throughout time, distinguished authors have succeeded in the goal of portraying the human
journey. There has been an innumerable amount of literature published over the years; however
what separates the extraordinary books from the appalling books, is the author s ability to
visually and emotionally move their readers. In order to establish a connection to the audience,
an author must understand human experience. In Water for Elephants by Sara Gruen, two
narratives are used, one of an older Jacob, and one of a younger Jacob. This choice is made by
the author to help the reader fully comprehend the circle of life. Everyone succumbs to age
sooner or later, and while many books conclude with the narrator finding contentment at an early
age, this is not the case in reality. In the real world, most struggle to achieve fulfillment, by
creating an elderly Jacob, in this case it does not necessarily mean that a live has been fulfilled.
The old aged are sometimes just as clueless as the young. Sara Gruen discloses that the old are not
very different from the young; in many cases the old are still playing the game against the
formidable opponent of life.
We are introduced to an eager and naГЇve Jacob in the initial stages of the novel. However, Jacob is
introduced to the cruelties of the world all too suddenly, when the death of his parents is abruptly
thrust upon him. It states, I snap out of my stupor. There are people on that train. It matters not a
whit where it s going because

The African American Vote
One day you ll sit down and wonder how did we get here, when did this happen, and why did this
happen the way it did, and you will not be able to figure it out, because you decided not to vote,
not to let your voice be heard. It is critical that we as African Americans become a well informed
group of individuals, and understand what we should vote for or what we should stand up for.
Specifically being an African Americanit is important to vote because it is not only our right but
our duty, for our predecessors fought for years for this right as did many others. Because we
were not seen as equal, we were not given the same rights as our Caucasian counterpart. We live
in a world where are given the right to vote and we have come a long way so, let our voices be
heard. Our government, this democracywe live in does not dictate what we should and should not
be allowed to believe. When Africans first came here in 1619 and disembarked from a ship in
Jamestown, Virginia, they were enslaved which automatically denied them to right to vote.
However free black men could vote in some of the original states including North Carolina, all of
the New England states (except Connecticut). In New York only blacks who owned $250 worth of
land were able to vote, which of course was improbable at this time. Naturally, however, this did not
apply to whites. Then came the Reconstruction Act of 1867, which allowed blacks to be elected as
delegates. New amendments to the constitution and allowed

This essay is about the Duke Vincentio in Measure for...
The character of the Duke is portrayed by Shakespeare as a very complex, hypocritical and
contradictory character. To many critics, he is conveyed as a Machiavellian Prince, using others
for his own political ends, and to some critics, a God like figure, testing the pathology of power in
Vienna. Despite these two polar opposites the character is nethertheless a character of ambivalence.
Contradiction is one of the main themes of the play, as is appearance versus reality, law versus
grace and justice versus mercy. The Duke never lets go of the puppet strings, pulling events and
manipulating other characters in the play. Vincentio s motives for influencing the events are
controversial; it has been argued that the Duke enjoys watching others... Show more content on

Angelo doesn t want to be married and neither does Lucio. Therefore the Duke uses marriage as a
punishment instead of death. He commands Angelo with the imperative look that you love your
wife and tells the provost to proclaim it? around the city that any woman disvalued by Lucio should
come forward.
In marrying both Lucio and Angelo, he is committing them to a life of misery, far worse than
being executed, and also humiliating and disgracing them. Neither of the marriages are likely to
last long, and justice is only done for Mariana in terms of law, not in terms of love. Mariana is
given what she wants, but the marriage will inevitably fail. Kate Keepdown is also done justice in
terms of law, but may not want to be married, as she will no longer be able to continue being a
prostitute.
Also, this is not really fair for Lucio, no one else had been charged for fornication with a
prostitute, and the only reason Lucio is being judged so severely is because he slandered the Duke.
Lucio called the Duke a very superficial, ignorant, unweighing fellow and also told the Friar that
his [the Duke] use was, to put a ducat in her clack dish... he would be drunk too . This creates
dramatic irony as the Duke is actually the Friar in disguise. A ducat in her clack dish is a
euphemism for being with prostitutes. The Duke s response to this is shown in his monologue in
Act 3.2.

subject to taxes. They do not fall under the jurisdiction of the Securities Exchange Commission.
They have direct access to a 2.25 billion line of credit, and their rates are significantly lower than
their competitors, because of their government backing, (Housing and Urban Developement, 2001).
The reason the company bought these risky loans was because they have a much higher interest
rate. Rather than paying 3.53 or 4% interest on a home loan these people were forced to pay
almost double that, between 6 and 7%. The conflict of interest arose from the fact that Freddie
Mac was the one whom the recipients of these loans had to try to get refinancing from. They did
not want to refinance the high interest mortgages into lower interest ones. This caused them to
have a conflict of interest. They were not interested in helping people to save their homes because
they were making money off the interest. Many people were in need of refinancing, which would
effectively pay off the higher interest rate loan and create a new loan with more affordable prices.
Freddie Mac refused to help these people out of their mortgages, effectively because they

HOW CLAY BRICKS ARE MADE
INTRODUCTION
Clay bricks are used in a wide range of buildings from housing to factories, and in the construction
of tunnels, waterways, bridges etc. Their properties vary according to the purpose for which they
are intended, but clays have provided the basic material of construction for centuries. Brick is the
oldest manufactured building material, and much of its history is lost in antiquity. The oldest
burnt or fired bricks have been found on the sites of the ancient cities of Babylonia, some of which
are estimated to be about 6000 years old. Brick is, after all, virtually indestructible. The industry
developed on traditional lines, using hand making processes for the most part. ... Show more content

Water can be added here or if it is a dry pan the clay is reduced to dust and water added later.
Further crushing takes place through conveyor rollers reducing the clay particles to about 1 2mm.
FORMING THE BRICK SHAPE
Most bricks are formed by one of two basic processes.
Extrusion
The clay body is mixed to a fairly stiff texture and is then loaded into an extruder where a worm
screw pushes it along a barrel into a vacuum chamber which compresses it through a taper and
out through a die. The die is machined to a precise size and shape larger than the finished size of
the brick, calculating how much the clay will shrink during the drying and firing process. The
clay emerges as a continuous brick shaped column. Initially this is smooth but it can be modified
by removing a thin sliver from the top and sides using a taught wire to produce a wiredrag effect
or by placing textured rollers over the column to create a rusticated effect or even by blasting the
column with sand. The clay column is then cut into single bricks and palletised ready for the
dryers or in some factories, are loaded directly onto kiln cars. Extruded bricks are generally
perforated and can be solid but cannot be frogged.
Soft mud moulding.
This covers a number of processes where

Power Out of Control Essay
Athol Fugard s Master Harold . . . and the boys illustrates that power is an issue that has so many
people playing a part. Hally s relatively short visit to his parent s shop reveals so many problems
within society in South Africa and around the world that still exist today. Everything from the
interactions between the characters, to the title of the play, and even their choices of conversation
all show that the thing about powerstruggles is that everyone ends up damaged. Fugard presents
several brief displays of the power struggles that affect each character and in turn exposes to the
reader that many forms of power are integrated into society so invisibly that we rarely see such

Hally feels powerless when has to transport his unconscious drunken father out of the hotel, but he
does not even think about how embarrassing it could even be to Sam to need to have permission to
come into a hotel because he is black.
Willie is interesting in that he looks up, smiling, from the floor for a good portion of the play, as
if he is obliviously happy with his place. In addition, his physical positioning mirrors his less
powerful status when it comes to Hally, and even when it comes to Sam. He plays his role as
someone who acts slave like and naive in his illiteracy. But he does have power in some areas of
his life, when it comes to he and Hilda, and he uses it. He does what he knows when he hits Hilda
when he does not get what he wants from her. Hilda uses the power she has to abandon him. He
does not understand the concept of moving someone versus motivating someone. Because he
simply moves her, he made her do what he wanted for a while. But since he does not motivate her,
she will not stay around.
Sam tries to do a lot of good with Hally but even he is guilty of lording power over others as well.
He teases Willie, how s your pillow with the quickstep? (Fugard 1142) because he has slightly
more power than Willie, it is acceptable for him to tease someone of the same race as he, and has
fun with it while he can, until the next incident comes along and where he has a lower status.

Male Body Demographic Research
Research has shown that men who are exposed to more media images tend to have more body
dissatisfaction than those men that are not exposed or not exposed as much to media images. I
will examine the impact that media images have on college males, and their desire to be more
muscular. Specifically, I will examine the effect of media images that come from movie shoots
and fashion magazines which the man s performance is based on their appearance compared to
images of regular, everyday males. I plan to sample of 100 malestudents (Mage = xx.zz years, age

After the informed consent form is obtained by the researcher, participants will receive three
images of either men who are representative of the general population or three images of men
who are not representative of the general population (e.g., bodybuilders, models, actors). The
participants will then be asked to answer a questionnaire that assesses questions about their
desire to be muscular and body satisfaction in general. The frequency of their desire to look a
certain way will be on a 1 5 scale corresponding whether they agree or disagree about wanting to
be lean and muscular. A response of one will be strongly disagree , a response of two will be

of five will be strongly agree . Participants will be answering the Drive for Muscularity Attitudes
Questionnaire (DMAQ, 2004), which was developed to measure the drive for muscularity, which is
defined as the desire, typically found in males, to achieve a mesomorphic body. The DMAQ has
demonstrated validity and reliability. The authors generated 41 items to assess individuals attitudes

The Death of the Ball Turret Gunner by Randal Jarrell
In the first line of the The Death of the Ball Turret Gunner Jarrell states, When I died they washed
me out of the turret with a hose (5). Jarrell does not elaborate; he makes it very clear that war is
gruesome. However, the literary techniques used in the other four lines of Death of the Ball Turret
Gunner give this theme even deeper meaning and make his point so effective. Jarrell criticizes the
governmentfor its insensitivity toward the fate if its solders. Jarrell does mention how scared the
gunner is, or call out the government for the brutalities and terrors the gunner has witnessed and
experienced; he simply states the events that occurred, allowing the reader to make these
conclusions for himself. Jarrell uses imagery to convey the gruesome horrors of combat, perplexity
to simultaneously establish the gunner s emotional condition, and finally tone to portray the
government s perspective of soldiers that die.
The imagery Jarrell uses not only conveys the terrifying situation the ball turret gunner is in, it also
exhibits the difference between the gunner s previous experiences and his current situation. The
first line indicates the ball turret gunner safe. He mentions his mother s sleep (1), meaning the sleep
during which he is in her womb. This gives the reader the impression that he came from a protected,
warm, and comfortable environment. This environment contradicts with his present situation being,
hunched in its belly till my wet fur froze (2). The

PARAGRAPH ONE (INTRO): hook? question, quote, pick one. Context!!! Then thesis: In both The
Catcher in the Rye and The Absolute True Diary of a Part Time Indian, the authors and the
protagonists utilize language clearly to mold the readers understanding of the theme, of isolation.
PARAGRAPH TWO (AUTHOR): Throughout both stories, both Salinger and Alexie use an array
of literary features to create the theme of loneliness. In chapter 15 of, The AbsoluteTrue Diary of a
Part Time Indian, whilst Junior is discussing his flourishing friendship with Penelope, a Caucasian

The shift in the organization of words separates the fact that he is Indian from the rest of the text,
as well as symbolizes the protagonist s isolated self. It is clear here that Alexie has intentionally
used syntax to conduct an effective way to portray the theme he has created by literally isolating
the sentence. Accordingly, Salinger also uses a vast amount of devices to portray loneliness through
out the entire book. For instance, he places the red hunting hat that Holden buys when he loses the
fencing equipment in particular situations: I still had my red hunting hat on, with the peak around
to the back and all. I really got a bang out of that hat (Salinger chapter 3 somewhere). Holden is
seen wearing the red hunting hat in several circumstances where he would need protection in his
case, to be alone. For instance, when writing the about Allie s baseball mitt, staring

Introduction
Phillipa Soo, an actress who played the leading lady in Hamilton, once stated, ..You put on your
character when you put on your makeup, when referring to theatre makeup, and she was completely
right. Whether the production is a small high school play or a large Broadway musical, theatrical
makeup is used to enhance features and create characters for the story being told. Theatrical
makeup has a long and intriguing history behind it. Depending on the show being performed, the
makeup could simply outline the features that the actor already possesses or the makeup may be
used dramatically, to create an animal or a paranormal entity. However the makeup is used, the
health risks should be taken into consideration to keep the actors safe from harm. Theatrical
makeup is a complex yet interesting topic because in order to use the makeup, one must understand
the history, the different application styles and the health risks involved.
History
Ancient Stage Makeup
Theatrical makeup was not always as nice and glamorous as the makeup of today. The earliest
form of theatre makeup documented was used by a Greek actor named Thespis, who painted a
toxic covering of white lead and mercuric sulphide on his face in order to stand out from the other
actors (Finly, Amy. History of Theatre Makeup). Most Greek plays were performed without any
makeup, but Thespis wanted to stand out from the crowd. A typical Greek play was put on while
the actors used masks to change character or facial expressions. Although contemporary
performances include stage makeup, the ancient masks from the Greek period remain as symbols of
drama.
Similar to the Greeks, the actors from the Qing Dynasty also began by wearing masks to portray
characters, but later turned to makeup and paint. Peking Opera performers studied how the face
looks and the characteristics of the face in order to create the right expressions. They used brightly
colored, swirling designs of black, red, blue and white to express their stories (Cummings, T.
History of Makeup in Theater, 2017). Japanese Kabuki Theatre also utilized bright colors

Essay on The Parthenon- A Culture in Itself
One of the most impressive accomplishments of Ancient Greece is the remarkable structure of the
Parthenon on the Acropolis. The Parthenon is one of the most inspiring works of architecture
known to mankind. The project of the extraordinary Acropolis was taken on by one of the most
influential leaders of history, Pericles. Pericles influenced not only the building of one of the
grandest works but the example of democracy displayed by the Greeks. The architecture was unique

The Parthenon was built to express greatness of their influential society and honor the goddess
Athena. The Golden Age of Athensis some times referred to as the Age of Pericles, one of the
greatest leaders seen throughout our history. The Parthenon would not have been possible
without the efforts and supervision of Pericles, one of the greatest historical leaders. Pericles
dominated Greek politics for over twenty years. He gained his political start with the help of
Ephialtes, together they reorganized the voting process to involve a popular assembly
destroying the power of the Areopagus or the old noble council. This action completely
reformed the democratic system in Athens. This reform was affluential part to the legend of the
power of Athenian democracy. (PBS) Many critiques of Pericles made gabs at this personal life
in which his first wife born him two legitimate sons, he later divorced her. His later foreign lover
was Aspasia she was described by Socrates as the most intelligent and witty woman of her time.
Pericles treated her as an equal, which was unheard of during that age. They lived together but
were never married. It was common for them to host the most intellectual company for parties and
conversation. Pericles was forced to defend Aspasia in a trial has he later gained power, and the
only way his rivals could harm Pericles was by attacking those that were close to him.(PBS)

The Importance Of Social And Personal Identity
Everyone has an identity. A person s characters are the combination of their memories, thoughts,
feelings, and personal experiences. If you are meeting someone new for the first time, what do
you see? Their difficult childhood? Their struggles to get where they are? People can only see
other s outer identity and not their character because the components that are the core of one s
character is covered up by their external identity, the labels. The labels shape a person s social and
personal identity in society and the environment they grew up in, conforming them to the norm and
dispossesses the identities of those who are different.
The human mind seeks order in chaos. It attempts to organize information provided to it. The
human mind doesn t like the unknown, so it will find similarities that the unknown has with
something it knows. When meeting someone new, the brain assigns a label to them, categorizing
that person s characteristics and traits and group them with others with similar characteristics. A
tag is created to differentiate people who differ from the norm. In society, people are labeled
based on their race, culture, gender, etc. If you tagged a person as Irish, using that label, when you
are describing that person to someone else, they would have an idea of what the person you are
describing is like since they would associate the person s traits with similar traits with the same
label. Categorizing the complex nature of human identities is impossible. These

Death is a scary thing because of the unknowns that surround death. Religion often help to
answer all the unknowns because we get an end point in our life just like Heidegger said. The
end point and beginning point of our world and life help us find closure. So, to answer the
question what emotions should we face when we are about to die, and should we be afraid of
death? The emotions that surround death will always change with the circumstance, but fear is
a very normal and acceptable emption to fear, especially without a belief in an afterlife.
However, it is also acceptable to not fear death. I don t think there is actually an acceptable
emotion or answer to the question that I posed. By looking at several of the characters in Game

death. I also noticed that none of the emotions that they felt were incorrect or not justified.
Depending on age, circumstance of death, and belief in religion/afterlife you will have different
feelings towards death, but all of these feelings are valid. There are not correct or incorrect
feelings when it comes to death. While it is natural to be scared of death, it is just as natural to

Health Geography Is A Branch Of Social Science
*Health geography approaches. Health geography is a branch of social science which investigates
the interaction between people and the environment. Health geography views health from an all
inclusive perspective combining society and space, and it intellectualises the role of place,
location, and geography within the realm of health, wellbeing, and disease. To put it simply, health
geography examines why space and place are central for health variation in the population. As a
result, approaches in health geography are varied, often drawing on different ways of
conceptualizing space, place, and health. As Cattrall and Elliott, (2009) state, it would be a mistake
to believe that there is only one correct approach, instead we should remain open minded and
appreciate different philosophical and epistemological approaches and viewpoints in health and
how they contribute to the enhancement of our understanding of a particular health issue. My
answer will be based on Gatrell and Elliott who discuss these approaches extensively.
The Positivist Approach Positivism applies to factual knowledge gained through the senses
including measurement. Oftentimes, positivism research relies on observable, quantifiable,
generalizable data collection later interpreted objectively. In a health context, positivist accounts
seek to uncover causes or aetiological factors; however, the best that can be established is often a
strong association rather than a direct cause. Positivist concerns

Nationalism holds that where a nation exists, it should govern itself. The forces of nationalism

Japanese Knotweed (Fallopia Japonica) Is An Invasive Species
Japanese Knotweed (Fallopia japonica) is an invasive species that was introduced to the United
States as an oriental plant in the 1800s. It is a nice looking plant that has heart shaped leaves,
bamboo like stems and very pretty white flowers. It is native to East Asia in countries such as
China, Japan, and Korea. This native has taken over parts of the US and is over crowding native
species and pushing them out of their native environments.
Biology/ Environmental Knotweed has been called a biological threat; it is a shrub like,
herbaceous perennial that dies back to ground each fall. It can grow to ten feet tall and tends to
form dense thickets of the plant that shade out native vegetation. It can usually be found in riparian

They have a pointed tip and flat base to the leaf. Knotweed also has numerous, small, off white
flowers. They grow in clusters near the end of the plant s arching stems. They bloom in August and

bred. The Japanese knotweed stems are round, hollow, and mottled, with a whitish coating.

knotweed spreads. This species is treated as a colonial species because of the way it spreads and
reproduces through the roots and stems. Studies done by Forman in 2003 gave results that Japanese
Knotweed produces large quantities of seed that typically have high germinability. This seed is
good even if it is planted immediately after collection or subjected to various conditions during the
winter season and germinated the following spring. This is what makes this species so abundant
and durable to most conditions. They also studied knotweed in the wild at several field sites, with

The path towards the experience machine is the path to suicide, because it stimulates false belief.

Hydrated Salt Experiment
Abstract:
The purpose of this experiment was to find the amount and percent of water in a hydrated salt.
Hydrated salt contains water molecules chemically bound to it while anhydrous salt is a substance
that fire can readily remove the water molecules. Using the gravimetric analysis method, the sample
salt was measured, heated, and was measured again after cooled down to room temperature; this
procedure allowed the weight of water lost in the salt to be obtained. After two trials, the water in
the salt was determined to have an average percent water of 35.04%. The null hypothesis, the heat
will not affect the amount of water lost, was rejected ,however, the alternative hypothesis, the heat
will allow for there to be water lost, was not supported.
Purpose of this experiment was to find the amount and percent of water in a hydrated salt. Also, to
successfully determine percent error and standard deviation. Hydrated salts are substances that
occur naturally who usually contain an amount of water molecules chemically bonded to the
compound. A few hydrated salts have weak bonds within the water molecules which allows heat to
remove the water molecules creating an anhydrous salt. Hydrated salts that lose water molecules to
the atmosphere without a heat source are known as efflorescent. Salts that readily absorb water are
called deliquescent. An example of an anhydrous salt would be Magnesium Sulfate or also known
as Epsom Salt. Epsom salt separates under heating and becomes

Alphone Bertillon s System
Alphonse Bertillon was born in Paris on April 24, 1853. He was the son of the distinguished
physician, anthropologist, and physician, Louis Adolphe Bertillon (bookrags.com). Young
Alphonse was seen as hopeless through his fathers eyes. He often suffered from migraine
headaches, and nosebleeds, and was very shy and lacked social skills. However, the young
Bertillon was not a complete loss, he was an intellectual who had a thirst for knowledge and shared
his father s interest in statistics and anthropology (http://jimfisher.edinboro.edu). In the year 1875,
Bertillon was conscripted into the french army. After several years of armed service Bertillon was

He also noticed that the mug shots that were taken by indifferent commercial photographers, were
of very low quality and often the offenders intentionally distorted their faces while being
photographed to disguise their appearance. Bertillon had a general understanding of the
anthropological statistics and anthropometric techniques from the work of his father
(bookrags.com). This was in the most basic sense the study of human statistics and the
measurements and proportions of the human body. Bertillon was soon able to devise a system of
identification of criminals which relied on 11 bodily measurements as well as the color of the
eyes, hair, and skin. He also added standardized photographs of the criminals to his anthropometric
data. (http://www.nleomf.org/) Bertillon believed that if several body measurements were taken
and recorded the likelihood that any two people would have the same dimensions and
measurements would be extremely rare or even nonexistent. Now that Bertillon had conceived a
way to record criminal records effectively, he had to devise a way to store all his gathered data in a
way that an individual s record could be located, within minutes, from thousands of other body
measurement records. Alphonse Bertillon soon developed a unique filing system for the criminal
records. He would first subdivide the eleven body measurements into small, medium and large.

blood pressure, premature birth, postpartum depression, STDs, etc. The teenagers would not be
the only that would be affected, their babies would also be affected because it might be born
premature and there is a high possibility that he or she would have a low birth rate. Most children
that were born by teenagers do worse in school than other children born from adults. Teenage
Pregnancy should be prevented because it does not have any positive affects to the people in the
United States. It could be prevented by enforcing sex education and birth controls because it would
make adolescents more aware about the consequences and the birth pills would stop unsafe sex and

Presentation of In Flanders Fields – script Essay
Presentation of In Flanders Fields script
Our presentation is on In Flanders Fields by Lieutenant Colonel John
McCrae.
There is an irregular rhyme scheme = aabba
aabc
aabbac
Almost all lines are 8 syllables long
The rhythm sounds like that of a nursery rhyme there is an iambic pentameter with a very regular
line length and rhyme scheme. This is in great contrast to the actual words all about death and war.
* Line 1 In Flanders Fields the poppies blow presents a nice natural image of poppies swaying in
the breeze.
* Line 2 Between the crosses row on row,
That mark our place... row on row signifies the enormous number of graves, as it is not a definite,
but an infinite number of crosses.

This is surprising because the
1st stanza was all imagery and symbolism and this is very different.
The statement is short, and abrupt, which makes it sound bitter.
В· It is quite a shock because not many poems are written from this point of view and a lot of
people don t like to think about it at all.
В· This abruptness perhaps symbolises the fact that nothing can be done to change this fact, as it is
just that: a fact.
В· Dead is capitalised, as though the poet is referring to all those who died as one collective
person. People not in the war would probably refer to them like this, anonymously.
* Line 1 Short days ago this brings home the suddenness of death in war.
* Line 2 We lived, felt dawn, saw sunset glow... this helps the reader to identify with the dead. It
contrasts with the previous capitalisation of Dead because it is reminds the reader of how these
soldiers were all real people, who had feelings and watched sunsets.
В· Sunsets are beautiful things very unlike the war. They appear to be an eternal cycle, which is
very different to these peoples lives, and reminds us of our mortality.
* Line 3 Loved and were loved, and now we lie... loved and were loved shows that the dead
soldiers cared about people who cared about them, but it is in the past tense. This makes it sound as
if now they are dead no one cares about them. They are forgotten, which makes the next line

In term of globalisation, it is more likely to be the world wide factory in manufacturing industrial

brought Alibaba on political and economic fronts. Also, it would not be successful without China

upgraded. During the period that Daoguang emperor wielded power, the dynasty was declining, and
the national treasury was not enough. However, the emperor still put money into building the Old
Summer Palace.
Unfortunately, the catastrophe came. In 1856, with the support by the Tsarist Russia and the
United States, British and French jointly launched the second opium war. On October 6, 1860,
troops broke into the Old Summer Palace and looted valuable relics inside. The ransacking

robbers breaking into a museum, devastating, looting and burning, leaving laughing hand in hand

wanted the Qing government sign files to accept the terms and conditions that unfair to Qing

Essay on The First Dental Adhesive Resins
In the 1962, Bowen first developed the BIS GMA monomer which was first chemically cured to
form chains of polymers. The chemically cured composite was a base pasted mixed with a catalyst
which resulted in problems of proportions and colour stability.
In 1970 s, light cured composites were introduced. UV light (365nm) was first used but was found
to have shallow polymerisation hence was later replaced by blue visible light (427 491nm).
Composite resins developed in the 1970 s contain large filler particles which resulted in poor
polishing .
In the 1980 s was when the first microfilled composites were developed. Microfilled composites
composed of 35 50% pre polymerised silica particles with a range of sizes from 0.02 0.04Вµm and

But with low filler content, flowable composite experience more polymerisation shrinkage and
lower mechanical properties. Flowable composites can be used for restorations on anterior teeth
where there are minimal occlusal forces, cavity liners for restoration in posterior teeth.
Condensable Composites are classified by their high filler content and have similar physical and
mechanical properties as silver amalgam which are better than hybrid composites. Condensable
composites has good condensability, easily shaped to match tooth anatomy and shape to get good
contact points. But condensable composites have less aesthetic properties in anterior teeth, poor
handling and it is difficult to adapt to previous increments. Hence condensable composites are
mainly used for posterior restorations.
Nanofilled composites are composed of nanomers (particle size of 5 75nm) and nano clusters
which replaces filler particles. The nano filler particles are composed of zirconia and silica
particles (particle size of 5 20nm). The nano clusters size ranges from 0.6 1.3Вµm. The nano
clusters are treated with silane with helps t bind the nanofllers to the resin. The small size particles
result in better physical properties: less polymerisation shrinkage, less

What Are The Objectives Of The League Of Nations
Introduction
The League of Nations was borne out of collective desire of the nations around the world to
prevent war, promote world peace and stability. According to Ebegbulem (2011), the unprecedented
destruction and death caused by World War I spurred the victorious nations into formalizing a
system of collective security in the form of League of Nations. The primary motive of the League
of Nations was to prevent/deter or address any aggression by a state through collective response
from other states, thereby ensuring collective security. By ensuring collective security, the member
states aimed to discourage an aggressor nation from waging war against the victim nation through
the prospect of the aggressor having to face the collective power of the members who were
signatories to the League of Nations . The League of Nations aimed to achieve peace by linking
national and international security issues to the promotion of economic development of its member
countries (Schwabach Cockfield, n.d.). The other objectives of the ... Show more content on

How Did The Living Conditions Affect Nebraska s Life
In the nineteenth century, the living conditions in Nebraska were tough to say the least.
Reminiscences about the pioneer life often describe conditions such as droughts, blizzards, and
grasshopper infestations. In the first few years, life in Nebraska was centered in the towns and
farms along the west bank of the Missouri River. Nebraskawas linked to everywhere else, but river
steamboats. People tried to recreate the social life that they had at their previous home, but they
were also influenced by the events that went on around them. Trains loaded and unloaded people at
Nebraska City, Brownville, Wyoming, or Omaha where home and farms were established and new
towns were built. On Independence Day, they would use any method to explode gun

Physical Therapy Personal Statement
The streets of my hometown have not been this flooded since the Ohio River rose over the ten
foot flood wall in 1937; only this time not by water, but by prescription pain pills. I grew up in
the foothills of Appalachia, where pain clinics were widespread throughout the Kentucky, Ohio,
and West Virginia tri state area until 2010. Physical therapy is an option that residents of my
hometown are not fully aware of. The opioid crisis that is currently being fought by the APTA is
something that continues to go on in front of my own eyes. Unfortunately, the area continues to be
unaware and underserved. Once I graduate from a doctorate of physical therapy program, I hope
to come back to my town and serve those in need. After reflecting on personal experiences, finding

Philosophies of Meditations by Marcus Aurelius Essay...
Marcus Aurelius
Even today, Meditations by Marcus Aurelius is read by every class from kings to common people.
The book is a universal classic, meaning it can be related to at any time, by anyone. The
philosophies included in his book have spanned the centuries, and Meditations remains to be one of
the most influential books ever written.
Marcus Aurelius was born on April 20, 121 AD into a family of royalty. His uncle and adoptive
father, Antoninus Pius, was the emperor of Rome. Aurelius, too, was trained from birth to be a
great ruler like his father. At age eleven, he dedicated himself to religion, although he considered
philosophy to be the true, inward religion, one which did not require ceremonies necessary in others.

He also tried to humanize criminal laws, and have masters treat there slaves in a humane way. After
Aurelius, Romans would miss such fair treatment.
#9;After nineteen years of ruling Rome, Marcus Aurelius died on March 17, 180 in Vindobona,
which is currently Vienna. He died of a plague while in the middle of yet another war to defend
the territory of Rome. Aurelius was succeeded by his son, Commodus, who was the polar
opposite of his father. Commodus was a corrupt and evil ruler. Apparently, his father was never
aware of this fact, for Commodus fooled him into believing they were of the same mind when it
came to ruling. Commodus was the first of the bad emperors to Aurelius last of the good emperors.
This lack of an able ruler cemented the descent of the Roman empire.
#9;Throughout his life, Aurelius was never able to be happy being an emperor. Even though he
had money and privileges, and was royalty, he never became tranquil, or at peace with himself,
with these material riches. It is evident when a person reads Meditations that Aurelius would
much rather have lived the quite life of a philosopher than the public life of an emperor. He
always wished that, at some point in his life, maybe when the wars were over, he would have some
time to actively pursue philosophy. He never received that opportunity. However, he did, in the
midst of all the wars he fought in, find the time to write down his thoughts into a

The Shoshone tribe mostly lived as hunters and gatherers but regrettably had tense interactions with
the Euro American settlers which resulted in approximately 200 Shoshones being slaughtered in
1863 which was one of the first and greatest massacres west of the Mississippi River

Essay about Poor Law
1.Explain why the New Poor Law Amendment Act (1834) was so controversial.
There were many arguments raised about the poor law amendment act of 1834, this Act was
thought to be the most contentious piece of legislation passed during the era of the Whig s. At the
time, it was a lot about saving money, the upper class did not want to pay towards the poor law, as
they believed they were lazy and unworthy. The taxpayers, and ratepayers believed it to be wrong
they should be paying to help the poor. The workhouse system was one of the most inhumane of all
time, humiliating and demeaning all the poor people that entered it. When families entered the

Some individuals wanted reform for the use of child labour, trying to get less working hours
with an age limit. Seebohm Rowntree, and Charles Booth also called for reform for these poor
people, as they were appalled at the atrocious working conditions of these factories, mills, and
mines. The individuals, and groups, who fought for these reforms, worked endlessly for many
years to achieve a safe environment for these poor people. The owners of these factories and
mills had to realise, they could still make a profit, without jeopardizing the lives of the workers
through their neglect. Politicians also knew they had to have reform in the factories, with Germany
having a much healthier workforce and better working conditions, their production was much
higher than ours. They needed educated, healthy workers to get the same standard of work
Germany was producing. The first effective, piece of factory legislation was the Factory Act of
1833. These applied to all textile mills, except those making silk and lace;

Is The NFL Protest Of Kneeling In The Star Spangled Banner...
Though the NFL protest of kneeling during the Star Spangled Banner appears to be disrespectful
at first glance, if one really takes the time to investigate the issue they will see it is a justifiable
way to express their first amendment right. Kneeling is something people do when they pray to
show great respect toward their heavenly father. However, when one person kneels during the
National Anthem many people go and claim their actions are disrespectful without any
knowledge of why they kneeled. Many believe that the kneeling is to show disrespect toward the
country. Well, it s not. The protest is really just about those denying the most basic freedoms.
According to Julius Peppers, this wasn t about disrespecting the military, disrespecting the flag,
police, first responders, none of that, and those are the reasons people are thinking for why the
players are protesting. When really according to SB Nation NFL, The players are simply
protesting systemic oppression against people of color, police brutality, and the criminal justice
system. The national anthem is just the vehicle for the protest. Meaning people of color just want
equal rights and want to be treated like humans instead of animals. Many may believe that people
of color have all equal rights, yet those people that believe that are white and may not be educated
on what is happening around them. If people educate themselves on to why this protest is
happening they will see that even veterans are agreeing

  • 2. The World Is Too Much With Us By William Wordsworth The Romantic period is a time when artists, poets, and writers turned their views from the eighteenth century focus on reason and thinking. They now emphasize imagination and beauty in nature. Reason and thinking are no longer the way to see how the world works, how to gain experience, imagination is. Literature, writing, and art during this time find a new respect and love for nature, the common man and childhood, senses, individual, and imagination. People at the time were also intrigued by darker and exotic things. They felt as if it was finally acceptable to rebel, think outside the box , and focus on human rights. Although Romantics were concentrating on these good ideas, all of their work was not always the most pleasant. Often times it would involve death or darkness. The Romantic period is complex one filled with contradicting and empowering ideas and works that are remembered very well. The Raft of the Medusa was painted approximately in 1818 1819 by a prodigious French painter Theodore... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... It emphasizes that the world today is too materialistic and distracted. This poem argues that there is too much happening in the world that people often times do not appreciate it and see what it truly is. Instead of being amazed and recognizing the beauty of nature, people ignore it and do not care since they see it all of the time. The speaker says that people will go as far as selling their souls to accumulate other things. The sonnet is an extended metaphor that compares the speaker to a pagan to explain that the speaker would much rather worship other gods in order to make himself less upset over the situation. He feels that pagans have a much stronger appreciation and love for nature. This pagan influence can also be seen when the speaker refers to Greek gods. According to the speaker, those gods have power over nature but still appreciates ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 3. The Capet Mass And The Caput Mass Homework #6 1.Define the Caput Mass and the cyclic Mass and identify which one is a type of the other. Before delving into what the Caput Mass is, it s important to know it s origins and what led to it s creation. One type of mass that was a predecessor to the the Caput Mass was the cyclic Mass, which is a work featuring the major sections of the liturgy (the Ordinary) as one musical (not liturgical) unit that includes a cantus firmus, modes, motives, or other composititional procedures. The differences between the cyclic Mass and the Ordinary are that the cyclic Mass doesn t contain the final Ite missa est, and the cyclic Mass isn t liturgical because the components of it (Kyrie, Gloria, Credo, Sanctus, and Agnus Dei) are not united, despite being unchanging. The cyclic Mass also became the major genre that composers utilized during the 1400s to build their own works upon and allow their skills in emulation and composition to shine, because the cyclic Mass was large and very complex in multiple parts. In fact, due to how popular and monumental the cyclic Mass was amongst composers during those days, the cyclic Mass is often compared to symphonies during the 18th and 19th centuries. However, in a musical sense, the cyclic Mass and the 18th 19th century symphonies cannot really be compared to each other because the movements of the cyclic Mass had to resemble each ... • 4. The Impact of Advertising on Perceived Gender Roles The role and function of advertising is a debatable one. Most would argue that since it is not intended to be a governmental aid in ensuring and creating opportunities for equality, we are unable to expect such efforts to be made within this industry. Advertisers have the job of selling, to persuade and increase consumption as to satisfy the capitalist s pockets. The play on social injustice often associated with this particular industry makes it relevant to question it though. Male dominance in this area is evident, but are we not even to view men and women as equal in terms of being potential consumers? As illustrated by Spurlock and this piece of research, it is extremely difficult to not involve advertisement in vocabulary and certain approaches to societal understanding. The present branding culture is apparent and it is close to impossible to not have an opinion regarding this matter, which incidentally causes discussion and debate, which in turn furthers the word of mouth usage of brands. The impact of advertising on perceived gender roles is quite evident, and with plenty of consequences, some of which we might not yet have experienced the full effect of. It is important to remember that with a socialized consumer identity, the choices we make are not individual ones, but is initiated by the manipulative skills of others . The high extent of advertisement we are put through on a daily basis makes it very difficult to reflect upon the idea of choices and individual ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 5. Analysis Of The Movie Breaking Bad In the crime drama television series, Breaking Bad we follow see the inner struggle of good and evil within the main character throughout the entire series to the point where we question which side of his personality we are witnessing. We see Walter White as a mild mannered and respectful chemistry teacher who also works at a car wash to help provide for his family just like the typical family man. Walter has a teenage son who has multiple sclerosis, and a wife who is pregnant with their second child. After learning that he has been diagnosed with Stage IIIA lung cancer, Walter decides quickly that he has to secure funds to help pay for his treatments, and also take care of his family after his death. This decision would spark definite change in his lifestyle, relationships, personality, and appearance. The result of this change would create the person we know so well, Heisenberg. Heisenberg is the ruthless, power hungry individual that will do anything possible to make sure that nothing gets in the way of his money, drug business, and security of himself or his family. In this paper we will discuss how certain events make Walter White progressively become darker throughout the series of Breaking Bad to the point where he becomes Heisenberg, as well as comparing him to different characters of TV shows on television today. There are many events that helped expedite Walter White s transition from the quiet chemistry teacher to the vengeful crystal meth kingpin, but ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 13. Water For Elephants, By Sara Gruen Throughout time, distinguished authors have succeeded in the goal of portraying the human journey. There has been an innumerable amount of literature published over the years; however what separates the extraordinary books from the appalling books, is the author s ability to visually and emotionally move their readers. In order to establish a connection to the audience, an author must understand human experience. In Water for Elephants by Sara Gruen, two narratives are used, one of an older Jacob, and one of a younger Jacob. This choice is made by the author to help the reader fully comprehend the circle of life. Everyone succumbs to age sooner or later, and while many books conclude with the narrator finding contentment at an early age, this is not the case in reality. In the real world, most struggle to achieve fulfillment, by creating an elderly Jacob, in this case it does not necessarily mean that a live has been fulfilled. The old aged are sometimes just as clueless as the young. Sara Gruen discloses that the old are not very different from the young; in many cases the old are still playing the game against the formidable opponent of life. We are introduced to an eager and naГЇve Jacob in the initial stages of the novel. However, Jacob is introduced to the cruelties of the world all too suddenly, when the death of his parents is abruptly thrust upon him. It states, I snap out of my stupor. • 15. The African American Vote One day you ll sit down and wonder how did we get here, when did this happen, and why did this happen the way it did, and you will not be able to figure it out, because you decided not to vote, not to let your voice be heard. It is critical that we as African Americans become a well informed group of individuals, and understand what we should vote for or what we should stand up for. Specifically being an African Americanit is important to vote because it is not only our right but our duty, for our predecessors fought for years for this right as did many others. Because we were not seen as equal, we were not given the same rights as our Caucasian counterpart. We live in a world where are given the right to vote and we have come a long way so, let our voices be heard. Our government, this democracywe live in does not dictate what we should and should not be allowed to believe. When Africans first came here in 1619 and disembarked from a ship in Jamestown, Virginia, they were enslaved which automatically denied them to right to vote. However free black men could vote in some of the original states including North Carolina, all of the New England states (except Connecticut). In New York only blacks who owned $250 worth of land were able to vote, which of course was improbable at this time. Naturally, however, this did not apply to whites. Then came the Reconstruction Act of 1867, which allowed blacks to be elected as delegates. New amendments to the constitution and allowed ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 16. This essay is about the Duke Vincentio in Measure for... The character of the Duke is portrayed by Shakespeare as a very complex, hypocritical and contradictory character. To many critics, he is conveyed as a Machiavellian Prince, using others for his own political ends, and to some critics, a God like figure, testing the pathology of power in Vienna. Despite these two polar opposites the character is nethertheless a character of ambivalence. Contradiction is one of the main themes of the play, as is appearance versus reality, law versus grace and justice versus mercy. The Duke never lets go of the puppet strings, pulling events and manipulating other characters in the play. Vincentio s motives for influencing the events are controversial; it has been argued that the Duke enjoys watching others... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Angelo doesn t want to be married and neither does Lucio. Therefore the Duke uses marriage as a punishment instead of death. He commands Angelo with the imperative look that you love your wife and tells the provost to proclaim it? around the city that any woman disvalued by Lucio should come forward. In marrying both Lucio and Angelo, he is committing them to a life of misery, far worse than being executed, and also humiliating and disgracing them. Neither of the marriages are likely to last long, and justice is only done for Mariana in terms of law, not in terms of love. Mariana is given what she wants, but the marriage will inevitably fail. Kate Keepdown is also done justice in terms of law, but may not want to be married, as she will no longer be able to continue being a prostitute. Also, this is not really fair for Lucio, no one else had been charged for fornication with a prostitute, and the only reason Lucio is being judged so severely is because he slandered the Duke. Lucio called the Duke a very superficial, ignorant, unweighing fellow and also told the Friar that his [the Duke] use was, to put a ducat in her clack dish... he would be drunk too . This creates dramatic irony as the Duke is actually the Friar in disguise. A ducat in her clack dish is a euphemism for being with prostitutes. The Duke s response to this is shown in his monologue in Act 3.2. No might nor greatness in mortality ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

They have direct access to a 2.25 billion line of credit, and their rates are significantly lower than their competitors, because of their government backing, (Housing and Urban Developement, 2001). The reason the company bought these risky loans was because they have a much higher interest rate. Rather than paying 3.53 or 4% interest on a home loan these people were forced to pay almost double that, between 6 and 7%. The conflict of interest arose from the fact that Freddie Mac was the one whom the recipients of these loans had to try to get refinancing from. They did not want to refinance the high interest mortgages into lower interest ones. This caused them to have a conflict of interest. They were not interested in helping people to save their homes because they were making money off the interest. Many people were in need of refinancing, which would effectively pay off the higher interest rate loan and create a new loan with more affordable prices. TECHNICAL INFORMATION SHEET 16 HOW CLAY BRICKS ARE MADE INTRODUCTION Clay bricks are used in a wide range of buildings from housing to factories, and in the construction of tunnels, waterways, bridges etc. Their properties vary according to the purpose for which they are intended, but clays have provided the basic material of construction for centuries. Brick is the oldest manufactured building material, and much of its history is lost in antiquity. The oldest burnt or fired bricks have been found on the sites of the ancient cities of Babylonia, some of which are estimated to be about 6000 years old. Extrusion The clay body is mixed to a fairly stiff texture and is then loaded into an extruder where a worm screw pushes it along a barrel into a vacuum chamber which compresses it through a taper and out through a die. The die is machined to a precise size and shape larger than the finished size of the brick, calculating how much the clay will shrink during the drying and firing process. The clay emerges as a continuous brick shaped column. Initially this is smooth but it can be modified by removing a thin sliver from the top and sides using a taught wire to produce a wiredrag effect or by placing textured rollers over the column to create a rusticated effect or even by blasting the column with sand. The clay column is then cut into single bricks and palletised ready for the dryers or in some factories, are loaded directly onto kiln cars. However, the literary techniques used in the other four lines of Death of the Ball Turret Gunner give this theme even deeper meaning and make his point so effective. Jarrell criticizes the governmentfor its insensitivity toward the fate if its solders. Jarrell does mention how scared the gunner is, or call out the government for the brutalities and terrors the gunner has witnessed and experienced; he simply states the events that occurred, allowing the reader to make these conclusions for himself. Jarrell uses imagery to convey the gruesome horrors of combat, perplexity to simultaneously establish the gunner s emotional condition, and finally tone to portray the government s perspective of soldiers that die. The imagery Jarrell uses not only conveys the terrifying situation the ball turret gunner is in, it also exhibits the difference between the gunner s previous experiences and his current situation. The first line indicates the ball turret gunner safe. He mentions his mother s sleep (1), meaning the sleep during which he is in her womb. • 27. The Negative History Of Theatrical Makeup Theatrical Makeup Alejandra M. Metcalf Mrs. Cottom Mrs. Daugherty Pioneer Career and Technology Center 18 September, 2017 Introduction Phillipa Soo, an actress who played the leading lady in Hamilton, once stated, ..You put on your character when you put on your makeup, when referring to theatre makeup, and she was completely right. Whether the production is a small high school play or a large Broadway musical, theatrical makeup is used to enhance features and create characters for the story being told. Theatrical makeup has a long and intriguing history behind it. Depending on the show being performed, the makeup could simply outline the features that the actor already possesses or the makeup may be used dramatically, to create an animal or a paranormal entity. However the makeup is used, the health risks should be taken into consideration to keep the actors safe from harm. Theatrical makeup is a complex yet interesting topic because in order to use the makeup, one must understand the history, the different application styles and the health risks involved. History Ancient Stage Makeup Theatrical makeup was not always as nice and glamorous as the makeup of today. The earliest form of theatre makeup documented was used by a Greek actor named Thespis, who painted a toxic covering of white lead and mercuric sulphide on his face in order to stand out from the other actors (Finly, Amy. History of Theatre Makeup). Most Greek plays were performed without any makeup, but Thespis wanted to stand out from the crowd. A typical Greek play was put on while the actors used masks to change character or facial expressions. Although contemporary performances include stage makeup, the ancient masks from the Greek period remain as symbols of drama. Similar to the Greeks, the actors from the Qing Dynasty also began by wearing masks to portray characters, but later turned to makeup and paint. Peking Opera performers studied how the face looks and the characteristics of the face in order to create the right expressions. They used brightly colored, swirling designs of black, red, blue and white to express their stories (Cummings, T. History of Makeup in Theater, 2017). • 31. The Importance Of Social And Personal Identity Everyone has an identity. A person s characters are the combination of their memories, thoughts, feelings, and personal experiences. If you are meeting someone new for the first time, what do you see? Their difficult childhood? Their struggles to get where they are? People can only see other s outer identity and not their character because the components that are the core of one s character is covered up by their external identity, the labels. The labels shape a person s social and personal identity in society and the environment they grew up in, conforming them to the norm and dispossesses the identities of those who are different. The human mind seeks order in chaos. It attempts to organize information provided to it. The human mind doesn t like the unknown, so it will find similarities that the unknown has with something it knows. When meeting someone new, the brain assigns a label to them, categorizing that person s characteristics and traits and group them with others with similar characteristics. A tag is created to differentiate people who differ from the norm. In society, people are labeled based on their race, culture, gender, etc. If you tagged a person as Irish, using that label, when you are describing that person to someone else, they would have an idea of what the person you are describing is like since they would associate the person s traits with similar traits with the same label. • 34. Health Geography Is A Branch Of Social Science *Health geography approaches. Health geography is a branch of social science which investigates the interaction between people and the environment. Health geography views health from an all inclusive perspective combining society and space, and it intellectualises the role of place, location, and geography within the realm of health, wellbeing, and disease. To put it simply, health geography examines why space and place are central for health variation in the population. As a result, approaches in health geography are varied, often drawing on different ways of conceptualizing space, place, and health. As Cattrall and Elliott, (2009) state, it would be a mistake to believe that there is only one correct approach, instead we should remain open minded and appreciate different philosophical and epistemological approaches and viewpoints in health and how they contribute to the enhancement of our understanding of a particular health issue. My answer will be based on Gatrell and Elliott who discuss these approaches extensively. The Positivist Approach Positivism applies to factual knowledge gained through the senses including measurement. Oftentimes, positivism research relies on observable, quantifiable, generalizable data collection later interpreted objectively. The forces of nationalism influenced central Europe from Italy to the land of the Austrian Habsburgs. After 1815, the region knew the positive effects of a different style of governing and was divided into a much more rational set of political units. There was an effort by both states to unite its segmented lands, so that they could have a more international standpoint. By 1870, both Italy and the Austrian Empirehad been re established. Japanese Knotweed (Fallopia Japonica) Is An Invasive Species Japanese Knotweed (Fallopia japonica) is an invasive species that was introduced to the United States as an oriental plant in the 1800s. It is a nice looking plant that has heart shaped leaves, bamboo like stems and very pretty white flowers. It is native to East Asia in countries such as China, Japan, and Korea. This native has taken over parts of the US and is over crowding native species and pushing them out of their native environments. Biology/ Environmental Knotweed has been called a biological threat; it is a shrub like, herbaceous perennial that dies back to ground each fall. Only 9 states in the United States don t have knotweed and that is very interesting because of how knotweed spreads. This species is treated as a colonial species because of the way it spreads and reproduces through the roots and stems. Studies done by Forman in 2003 gave results that Japanese Knotweed produces large quantities of seed that typically have high germinability. This seed is good even if it is planted immediately after collection or subjected to various conditions during the winter season and germinated the following spring. This is what makes this species so abundant and durable to most conditions. They also studied knotweed in the wild at several field sites, with ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 39. Hydrated Salt Experiment Abstract: The purpose of this experiment was to find the amount and percent of water in a hydrated salt. Hydrated salt contains water molecules chemically bound to it while anhydrous salt is a substance that fire can readily remove the water molecules. Using the gravimetric analysis method, the sample salt was measured, heated, and was measured again after cooled down to room temperature; this procedure allowed the weight of water lost in the salt to be obtained. After two trials, the water in the salt was determined to have an average percent water of 35.04%. The null hypothesis, the heat will not affect the amount of water lost, was rejected ,however, the alternative hypothesis, the heat will allow for there to be water lost, was not supported. Purpose of this experiment was to find the amount and percent of water in a hydrated salt. Also, to successfully determine percent error and standard deviation. Hydrated salts are substances that occur naturally who usually contain an amount of water molecules chemically bonded to the compound. A few hydrated salts have weak bonds within the water molecules which allows heat to remove the water molecules creating an anhydrous salt. Hydrated salts that lose water molecules to the atmosphere without a heat source are known as efflorescent. Salts that readily absorb water are called deliquescent.
