Inclusion Essay
I am extremely in favor of inclusion of students with disabilities. Inclusion can be defined as an option
in which the education of a child is taken into consideration. For example, it involves the students with
disabilities pursuing most or all of their education within an ordinary school setting with their other
classmates that do not have disabilities. Inclusion has many objectives, but the most important
objective of inclusion would definitely have to be in that it is a program that supports children with
special needs having equal educational conditions. Inclusion attempts to accomplish this by giving
those students various resources that will help them succeed in school, such as greater access to the
general education curriculum. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Students with disabilities should feel that they belong in the classroom. They should not feel like if the
school and teachers are doing them a favor by letting them be in the regular classrooms. They should
feel like they belong there. I agree with the two initiatives that were started in 2002 and 2004. They
are The No Child Left Behind Act (NCLB) and the Disabilities Education Improvement Act (IDEA).
Thanks to the start of those two initiatives many students with disabilities have positively benefited.
Those initiatives have enable them to receive the majority of their instruction in a general education
setting. There has been a trend that researchers have noticed that is occurring. In the last ten years,
there has been an increase in educating the students with disabilities in the general education settings.
There has also been a trend in the teachers being prepared to work with all types of students (McCray,
2011). From what I have learned from the teacher preparation program in my university, I feel slightly
prepared to work with students with disabilities. I have learned many things such as different methods
to accommodate those students with disabilities. In the various courses, I have learned many important
techniques to help students with disabilities. For example, I have learned that I need to try various
alternatives such as scaffolding and differentiating

Christian Inaccuracies In The Bible
Introduction
Every day people are introduced to the Bible, whether it be through Christians or non
Christians. Christians will try to convince people that the Bible is true, while non Christians will
say that there are too many inaccuracies in the Bible for it to be true. As Christians, we should
take a look at what the other side has to say, so we are aware of what others believe and so that
we can accurately talk about the other side s claims. Another reason that Christians should
conduct their own research on the accuracy is so they can defend their faith and know why they
believe what they believe. There are many people in our would today that believe certain facts
and information to be true only because friends or family ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
This account was an early example that shows us that even before Jesus came, God the
Father performed miracles. Through research Dr. Gary Habermas, a scholar in New Testament
history and has conducted lots of research for providing sound evidence to support the New
Testament, discovered that many agree and recognize Jesus miracles dealing with healings and
exorcisms, but deny the nature miracles. The fact that Jesus miracles are listed and discussed
in each of the Gospels show proof that Jesus really did perform miracles. Dr. Gary Habermas
stated, medical studies of certain miraculous phenomena today indicate that we are still not
able to account for all such incident in purely naturalistic terms. That statement from Dr.
Habermas shows that one cannot account for the miracles through naturalistic elements, but rather
have to acknowledge that Jesus really did perform miracles. Dr. Gary Habermas is not the
only person that has looked into the miracles of Jesus. Craig Keener, a professor of New
Testament at Ashbury Theological Seminary, has also provided evidence through Jesus miracles
that prove the accuracy of the

Lessons from the Little Rock Nine Essay
Motivators and movers where would the world be without these people? It is these beings that cause
belief to become action and compel the masses to move through their example, sometimes
unknowingly. In 1957, nine young African Americans voluntarily chose to desegregate Little Rock
Central High and break free of the black white mold that society had made. Those young students
became known as the Little Rock Nine hated by those unlike them, terrorized by schoolmates and
even ostracized by their people. The moment these young African Americans enrolled into Central
High, they became warriors for equality facing the battlefield of racism. It was their determination that
facilitated breaking down the walls of segregation. The stand taken ... Show more content on

The citizens of Little Rock were outraged that Negroes would soon be mingling with their children.
The day the court order was passed, Melba Patillo Beals was assaulted and nearly raped by a adult
white male who was so infuriated by the Supreme Court s decision (Beals, 1995). Acts of violence and
hostility became more frequent towards the Nine. Five days later the Little Rock school board stated
that they would integrate Central High, but not until September 1957. Originally 17 students had
planned to integrate Central High, but due to threats of violence eight students backed down, adding
additional anxiety to the remaining Nine. With the help of the National Association for the
Advancement of Colored People, plans for integrating Central High were becoming reality. On
September 4, Little Rock awoke to the Arkansas Democrat headline which read, Armed Troops Turn
Back Nine Negroes at Central High School ( Armed troops turn, 1957). The front page was spotted
with images of the blockade of troops with Crowd Jeers at as Negro Students Attempt to Enter Central
High as the caption. The first attempt at integration had caused an eruption of absolute turmoil in front
of Little Rock Central High. Governor Orval Faubus had commissioned the Arkansas National Guard
and State Police to surround the high school,

Analytical Analysis Of Frost At Midnight By Samuel Coleridge
Analytical essay of Frost at Midnight by Samuel Coleridge
People think that nature brings a sort of calmness, happiness or peace, which is why most people
travel to places with beautiful sceneries, or build houses near beaches, or have a plant in their
surrounding or even just a painting of a tree, flower or mountain. The importance of nature is
subjective as it nature touches people in different ways. The poem Frost at Midnight, Samuel
Coleridge, is a monolingual conversation between the speaker and his sleeping infant. It is written in
blank verse, with little or no rhyme but in iambic pentameter. In this poem, the speaker emphasises the
importance of nature by equating it to God, he also speaks about the ability of nature to create
treasured memories, which he wants to use to plant himself in his child s future, therefore, he his
rallying against modernization because of this.
The speaker stresses the importance of nature by comparing it to God, he says that his child will be far
from God because he will not be able to hear God s voice which apparently is, The lovely shapes and
sounds intelligible / Of that eternal language... (65 66). I believe that this comparison is quite different
as most religions such as Christianity do not equate God with earth but instead suggests that God
created earth (New International Version, Gen. 1.1). This sentence makes me think that God can mean
different things to different people. The thing or person we worship the most or respect the most can
be a god, money can be a god, a popular music artist can be a god, and a tyrannical president can also
be a god. The speaker s definition of a God involved the ability to: from eternity doth teach Himself in
all... Great universal Teacher! (67 69).The speaker s definition of God entails the ability to be able to
teach one s self and be able to mold spirits. Thereby nature is important in this way because it can
mold people s spirits and lives.
Another way in which the speaker stresses the importance of nature is by stating benefits from nature.
He is sitting at home and staring out through the window, looking at the fluttering object and listening
to the owl while the rest of the residents in the house are asleep. He is in his

Leadership Is Different From Management And Their Functions
Leadership is different from management and their functions are totally different based on their
fundamental philosophies, outcomes, and functions (Toor and Ofori, 2008, p.63). The conceptual
distinction of leadership according to Toor and Ofori (2008) is a process that composed of vision,
motivation, and actions of the leader that empower the followers to realize common goals (p.64). They
further stated that the purpose of leadership is to provide direction and bring about change (p.64). For
Zaleznik (2004), leadership uses power to influence the beliefs and actions of other people (Zaleznik,
2004). He further stated that Business has contributed its answer to the leadership question by
evolving new breed called managers (p.74).
According to OED, leadership is One who guides others in action or opinion; one who takes the lead
in any business, enterprise, or movement; one who is followed by disciples or adherents the chief of a
sect of party; also in wider sense, a person eminent position and influence... (as cited in Toor and
Ofori, 2008, p.63). Leader influences others by his or her ability, persuasiveness, and vision (Toor and
Ofori, 2008, p.63).
Daft (2003) claimed that the conceptual foundations of management emerged during the period of
relatively rapid economic development and industrialization of nineteenth and early twentieth century
(as cited in Toor and Ofori, 2008, p.64). He believed that the impact of these developments resulted in

Narrative Essay On High School Basketball
My freshman year of high school basketball was almost coming to an end. Our record was pretty
stellar, and we needed one more win to get the wildcard, which meant we would automatically make it
to state. My team was playing against Malcolm, in a really tight game. We were down by two points
and Coach Henkel put me in to shoot a three pointer, but both of our hopes and dreams were short
lived. I missed the shot, and I lost the game for us. I was devastated, and so was everyone else. As I sat
in the locker room, all I could do was stare at the ground. The only thing running through my mind
was, no one is going to trust me with the ball anymore or worse yet, everyone is going to be mad at
me. These thoughts were slowly tearing me down, day by day. But that was until Coach Henkel talked
to me, and told me not to worry about missing the shot. He told me everyone misses, and that he wasn
t to worried. So, I was given two options, dwell on the past and let that affect my playing, or forget
about it and move on.
I have been given multiple opportunities where not dwelling on the past has come into play. In the
eighth grade I helped someone cheat on a test, and got caught. Yes, it was a bad decision and I have
definitely learned from it. I had to serve a detention and then always thought that Mr. Sass was going
to hate me forever. But I didn t dwell on what happened and learned from my mistakes. I had to learn
to move on because the past was the past. Thinking about the mistake I had

The Pros And Cons Of Bottle Nosed Dolphins
Bottle nosed Dolphins are often regarded as being one of the smartest animal to have existed. Their
existence has been over the past few centuries have been noted and highly complimented for being
close allies of humans. In recent years, over the past few decades, the controversy of keeping dolphins
under human captivity has blown way up and received uncanny amounts of criticism for holding
dolphins in smaller aquariums for human entertainment. The ethicality of bottle nosed dolphin
captivity is frequently questioned, however the quality of life and health of the dolphins is often not
acknowledged to its full potential or received praise for the benefits constant human supervision has
for dolphin life.
Dolphins are social animals, when in the wild they live in pods varying in sizes from 2 40 dolphins.
They develop a social hierarchy with either a head male or female to essentially lead the group. In
comparison, social bonds between dolphins and even their trainers in their tanks have also been found
to have remarkable bonds, and specifically the partnership between the dolphin and its trainer has
been notarized for their mutual respect. However, the human communication is nothing in comparison
to the conversing between an actual pods of dolphins in the wild with one ultimate goal of survival.

the constantly monitored lives of the mammals, and because of the near to zero threat level. Having no
predators in captivity guarantees them safety, however an unnatural life. (Schaefer,

Ancient Empires Geography Essay
There is lots of strategies that have led the ancient empires to their success and staying strong.
.Geography was a huge part of history, this is because many people live upon geography. They rely on
geography to live. To add on, the success and failures all come from geography, which is very
important. Ancient Egypt had many ups and downs through their empire, geography helped them a lot
for planting crops and getting resources. Ancient Greece was affected by the geography near their

Lost And Found Summary And Analysis
New York City is one of those places that changes in a blink of an eye. In Lost and Found, by Colson
Whitehead, Whitehead observes the changes in atmosphere that he often sees in the city and connects
it to the fall of the twin towers that happened just months before publication. In Whitehead s New
York, he often sees a lot of locations being changed or replaced. For example, one of the changes
Whitehead imagines a cafe now becoming a pharmacy. My NYC is an unfortunate result of

Covert Action
A Necessary Evil?
The term Covert Action brings with it a connotation of shadowy figures wrapped in secrecy and
intrigue. It also brings with it a substantial amount of moral questions as to what is right. The use of
covert action has been widely publicized since the early seventies, but trying to find out the truth to
these events has been difficult to say the least. What is even more difficult, is historically recording
these events into categories of successes or failures. These operations are difficult to dissect because
of their secrecy and although events have been recorded, some facts simply aren t apparent. This paper

The start of the coup would begin through a series of events highlighting Mossadegh negatively. The
first part of this would be to paint Mossadegh and his government as anti religious due to the ties
between him and the Tudeh (and the Soviet Union).(7) The second part of this would be to instill a
fear that Mossadegh was leading the country into economic collapse. This would be publicized
through the use illegally issued paper money (printed by the CIA).(8) These two factors would cause
widespread civil unrest with the people of Iran in which the Shah would remove Mossadegh from
office and replace him with Zahedi. The key to the success of the operation was support from the Shah
which in part seemed difficult at times because of his indecisiveness. On the morning of 19 August
1953, the coup began and by 5:25pm Zahedi had ascended into power courtesy of the SIS and CIA.
Iran: Aftermath The Shah would remain in power until 1979. A series of events sparking from that day
in August 1953 would finally boil over and force him to flee the country. The Shah was viewed as a
puppet leader of the western world and forced into exile.(9) There are many factors that relate to the
cause of the Iranian Revolution in 1979 and many of them involve the Shah and his government. Was
the operation viewed as a success? At the time, yes. But looking at the events which unfolded over the

A Report On Tesla Model 3
The big automotive news since the beginning of this month has been all about the Tesla Model 3, the
next vehicle coming from America s electric car manufacturer.
On March 31, Tesla CEO Elon Musk unveiled a prototype of the compact sedan and immediately tens
of thousands of people placed $1,000 refundable deposits on a car that won t arrive until late 2017 at
the earliest.
By late last week, the so called pre orders (advanced orders) totaled 325,000 and included early
adopters from around the world. That s a staggering number of people demonstrating interest in a car
some believe will help make electric vehicles mainstream within the next few years.

Specifically, range anxiety, an important detriment to consumer consideration, will be largely
alleviated thanks to improvements in battery technologies.
In fact, GM promises 200 miles of range for the Bolt or about twice the distance of the Nissan Leaf s
current limits. Similarly, the new Tesla will deliver a projected 215 miles of electric driving. That both
vehicles are priced in the $35,000 to $38,000 range is important too with federal and state incentives
available to qualified buyers, the two models may parallel the cost of buying a similar gasoline
powered model.
Electric Vehicle Proviso
Before we become all giddy about electric vehicle mainstreaming it is important to note one highly
significant caveat the range numbers are realized when an electric vehicle is operated in optimum
weather conditions, such as at 77 degrees Fahrenheit. At the extremes, especially in sub freezing
driving, vehicle range may fall dramatically.
For instance, the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) found that fuel economy for hybrid electric
vehicles ...can drop about 31% to 34%... under extreme conditions. Given that hybrids and electric
vehicles share similar battery componentry, that 200 mile range may fall to 130 miles.
That s still better than the range limits for today s crop of mainstream electric vehicles, nevertheless it
is a constitutive matter that should not be easily dismissed.

King Lear Nature
The concept of nature has become layered with many complexities due to the numerous ways the
word can be interpreted. It could mean anything from the inherent character or basic constitution of a
person or thing to the external world in its entirety to a spontaneous attitude (Merriam Webster).
However, despite its many forms, in its essence, nature as a concept implicates powerlessness for
individuals. It will always be something that is beyond human control, whether it be the forces that
work around people such as weather or animals, or the innate and uncontrollable characteristics within
one s personality. Nature has control over the world, and one can decide to either fight this authority
or succumb to it. This idea is seen very ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
In this play, words function as a mask that characters hide behind, while actions show their true
intentions. Accordingly, after the daughters who have no deep love for their father profess their
affection for him in a mendacious display of emotion, the daughter that loves Lear most, Cordelia,
refuses to compliment him, claiming she cannot heave [her] heart into [her mouth] (1.1.88 89). She
decides to rely on the actions of her past to reveal her affections, however, Lear has yet to accept the
value of honesty, so he rails against his youngest daughter exclaiming Let it be so! Thy truth then be
thy dower ...here I disclaim all my paternal care, propinquity and property of blood, and as a stranger
to my heart and me hold thee from this forever. (1.1.110 115). Both Lear s strong reaction and his
rejection of truth and honesty reflect his own insecurities and inability to divulge his genuine nature.
Having lived his whole life like a performance on stage, he feels threatened by Cordelia s rejection of
a false grandeur which Lear, whether he realizes it or not, sees as a personal attack against his own
fabricated identity. Consequently, lashing out from his jealousy for Cordelia s ability to remain true to
herself, Lear acts against his better judgment by banishing her, and foreshadows the ironic trajectory
of this story.

The Vampire Effect Of Dracula
Not many people would think that they can be compared to Count Dracula. Considered to be one of
the most well known monsters of all time, Count Dracula sucks the blood of his victims, which would
ultimately lead to their death. While this seems like a very unique example, it can be applied to nearly
every person, specifically in the college stetting. This phenomenon that can be linked to this monster
is called the vampire effect. First used in the book ______, this term refers to the what happens in
social groups due to different personality types that were caused by a difference in economic
background. Set in a college dormitory, chapter 4 of the book discusses how there is a difference in the
social lives of students who are quiet versus students who are more outgoing. Students who were shy
were generally ignored and did not seem to partake in many social activities. While Armstrong and
Hamilton suggest that the Vampire Effect arises due to the social students knowingly ignoring and
rejecting the shyer students, that is not the case. The cycle through which the effect takes place starts
with self comparison due to economic status, envy, and self blame, and results in anxiety and self
isolation. Although this is done unintentionally, consciously known factors such debt and class also
play a role in the process.
As Armstrong and Hamilton describe the social isolates , Others treated the quieter roommate as sort
of a sidekick or an invisible appendage (105).

The Role Of Women In Barbie Doll, By Marge Piercy
People are oftentimes cast into roles or duties that some might believe are duties for certain groups of
people. For example, some people feel nursing is a career for women; and when they encounter a male
nurse, they might not be as receptive to him. In other words, they just don t feel comfortable with their
skills. Also, society has placed women in the role of stay at home moms and housekeepers. Men who
take on the duties of stay at home dads are sometimes frowned upon by society and assumptions are
made that the dad is not performing manly duties. However, there is no one mold fit all society.
People, especially women, should not be stereotyped in roles or duties that society deemed women
only . The poems Barbie Doll , Girl , and Daystar reveals the pain, shame, and loneliness that some
women might experience because of society s beliefs.
Marge Piercy s poem Barbie Doll reveals society s perception and expectations of girls as soon as they
are born. She is to grow up and adhere to normal girl behavior. Behavior that does not deviate from
restrictive roles and ideals. Piercy starts the poem off with gender recognition so that the reader can
understand the girlchild role in life as a woman. In other words, she will fit into society s mold; and
the use of the word presented rather than given lets the reader know the importance of the items (2).
After all, they are her training tools. This girlchild was born as usual and presented dolls that did pee
pee and miniature GE stoves and irons and wee lipsticks the color of cherry candy (1 4). Dolls that pee
pee are to train her for motherhood. A stove is to train her for preparing meals; and an iron is for
making sure her family is always polished. The lipstick is to remind her that society expects her to be
beautiful as well. Puberty is not a magical time. Piercy use of the word magic and puberty together
draws attention from society s perceived Barbie Doll to reality (5). Puberty is a time that can create
havoc, as the girlchild found out. The author says that one of the milestones of the girl s life happens
in the magic of puberty (5). Puberty is a time of awkward transitions and not a time of magic, but
expressing it in a

Just like in the song Sexy Bitch when Akon states Im trying to find the words to describe this girl
without being disrespectful many men today are having the same problem. It is not too often that
women hear the words beautiful, gorgeous, or lovely, instead they hear hot, sexy, or somkin . This is
shown again in Akon s song when his whole chorus is Damn You s a sexy bitch, a sexy bitch. Many
music videos have women being portrayed as ravenous women who want sex at all times.
(Dreamworlds 3) They send out the message that women are just there as sexual objects and are
nothing more than females seeking male attention. (Dreamworlds 3) The music video s always show
women hanging off of men, and doing anything they have to in order to get attention. Most music
videos are fairly predictable in the ways they sexualize women, sometimes in violent ways. As in
movies women are generally present in music videos to be looked at. (Shaw and Lee, p507) It is
examples like these that are damaging to a women s sense of self worth. Although some women may
fall into this trap and accept that they are looked at as sexual objects for men, many will not. It is a
disgrace that the media can have such a damaging effect on a women s sense of self worth. Society as
a whole watches these videos and listens to these songs, and if this is the way that society is portraying
women, then this is the way women are going to look at themselves.

Analysis Of The Movie The Disneyfication Of Broadway
Introduction A trip to 42nd street circa 1990 was certainly no destination fit for a family. Walls of
graffiti adorn the peeling awnings of storefronts and theatres promise private dances and live nude
women. Porn shops dotted the city block with colorful invitations to sex hotlines and signs prohibiting
entry to anyone under the age of eighteen (Wollman 445). Decades earlier, during the Prohibition era,
speakeasies and brothels lined the city, creating New York s red light district. Today s Times Square,
however, bares no hint of resemblance to its former image of sleaze and mystery. Neon lights that
once illustrated silhouettes of burlesque dancers have since been fashioned into the welcoming faces

The commencement of renovations, then, relied heavily on the support of the city and state of New
York s investment, and because of the potential profit to be made from tourism, the state obliged
(Wollman 1). This investment greatly contributed to The Walt Disney Company s decision to lease the
New Amsterdam Theatre. Prior to 1994, the theatre spent decades without use and had fallen into
decay. Professor of Performance Studies and academic, Elizabeth Wollman detailed the deal between
Disney and the city in an article analyzing the interaction between theatre and corporations. She
explained:
Disney agreed to spend approximately $6 million to renovate the huge, ninety five year old New
Amsterdam on 42nd Street, Disney would enjoy exclusive use of the New Amsterdam, which it now
occupies under a long term, forty nine year lease and currently uses to house the musical version of
The Lion King. The city and state agreed to lend Disney an additional $28 million in low interest
loans in return for 2 percent of all ticket receipts from shows staged at the theater. (Wollman 447)
With its acquisition of the theatre Disney opened Beauty and the Beast, a stage musical based on the
company s popular musical film, and not long after its opening did investors such as Time Warner and
Madame Tussauds hop on the 42nd street bandwagon (Nelson 74). The reopening of the New
Amsterdam Theatre marked a transformation to the New Times Square which, as

The Death Of Horatio Alger
The 0.1 percent in the U.S. today account for more than eight percent of the national income
(Freeland). Economic inequality is also known as income inequality, and it has always been a
problem. The gap between the rich and the poor is growing wider and wider because wealth grows
faster than the economy according to Thomas Piketty, and people are not able to move up through
economic classes according to Paul Krugman. Economic inequality is a problem that can be overcome
with raise the minimum wage, expand welfare benefits, and provide higher education.
In his TED talk, Piketty forms a simple formula explaining the economic inequality, which is r g. This
means the return on capital is higher than the economic growth. In The Death of Horatio Alger,
Krugman explains the idea of income mobility in America is less reality now than it was in the 20th
century. Also, it was believed to be more reality in the 20th century than it really was (Krugman).
Income mobility means one s ability to go from one social economic class to another higher or lower
class. The American dream seemed to be a reality as more and more people experienced just that type
of income mobility. The two factors which seem most closely related are economics, and the lack of
access to education. We are seeing more and more dead end jobs that have little or no room for
improvement. Then there is the lack of access to education. Higher education is getting more and more
expensive. The difficulty in making

and during the new negative test, the pressure came down on a different pipe and not for the drill pipe

a. Calling a cellular company s customer service number and lodging a complaint.
b. The flow chart above elaborates the process of expressing one s grievance and lodging a complaint
to the cellular company from start to end. The steps involved will be classified into two categories,
value added services and non value added services. A justification will be provided for the
classification.
Value added steps
. Find customer care number online
A consumer is required to go online and find the respective numbers for the cellular company he/she
wants to reach. Usually, the company has a standard IVR(interactive voice response) in place and the
consumers are provided with a toll free number on the website. This is step is inevitable as one needs
to reach the company s customer service line in order to lodge his/her complaint.
. Call the customer service number
A toll free number can be obtained by the consumer via the company s website. The toll free number
would be represented as 1 888 XXX XXXX. The customer makes a call to the number in order to find
a solution to the problem.
. Follow instructions on IVR
In this step is where the problem begins, the IVR s are usually not customer friendly and the menu list
are very vast and it requires a great deal of patience from the customers side but, you need to go
through multiple lists and find a desired option and click the respective extension.

The author provides us with an intriguing account of Japan sealed off and express of Commander
Perry s forceful handling of his undertaking, had far negative effect for Japan and the United States
political, commercial and foreign relationship.
6. Point of view or bias: Although the book is not organized and the timeline is often hard to find, the
subject is interesting and timely. The author is a little bit prejudicial to Americans and that this book
has been written with a moral principle at its root that is to show the negative influence of American
diplomatic and military policy on Japan and its culture. One first example of this is the book s title,
The Breaking Open of Japan that denotes a forceful penetration with the intent to steal. This book
makes it sound as if America is a world bully. The author sets out to show that America arrogantly
decided to force Japan to open its doors to foreigners, trade, and religion, a decision that turned out to

annum. The GDP also increased at a rate above 5 percent per annum between 1974 and 1980, except
for 1978 (see Exhibit 2). However, Brazil had incurred an extremely high level of indebtedness due to
the support of this massive development program. The high interest rates on dollar funds and the
unwillingness of foreign lenders to advance additional loans caused a deep economic recession in
Brazil. Interest rates directly affect the credit market (loans) because higher interest rates make
borrowing more costly. As a result, Brazilian government who aimed to balance the payment had to

Marketing Analysis of Oakley, Inc. Essay
Marketing Analysis of Oakley, Inc.
For my strategic sports marketing project, I decided to report on the sports marketing activities of a
particular corporation. I specifically wanted to report on the marketing operations of a rather diverse
company; one that offers more than one product line for more than one sport. Oakley, Inc. is a
company that offers several different products for a wide range of sports. I will now briefly describe
the company and its operations, as well as its primary sports marketing goals and objectives.

improvements in performance and style over goods available on the market. To that end, the company
strives to develop methods of production that provide greater precision and less cost than its
competition. Establishing itself as a global brand, Oakley has diversified beyond the eyewear market.

Analysis Of The Metamorphosis By Franz Kafka
Often times, a son may be forced or obligated to do something for their family that doesn t benefit
him. The Metamorphosis, by Franz Kafka, explores Gregor s role as a provider in the Samsa family,
and how this role inhibits his progress and freedom. This novella demonstrates how people are
unaware of the situations that confine them, which they have no control over. In Gregor s case, he
remains trapped as a traveling salesman, a job which he dislikes, due to his lack of agency regarding
family responsibilities and potential for social advancement (movement). Only after his
metamorphosis does Gregor realize that his freedom and quality of life have been impeded by his
family obligations and lack of movement. Gregor s obligations to his family result in his inextricable
role as a provider for the Samsas. Because of the large debt accrued by his father, Gregor has been
working for the past five years, and must work an estimated six or seven more years in order to repay
it. During this decade of work, he must give up his own aspirations and individuality in order to
provide for the family. Gregor became a traveling salesman because he felt obligated, or was forced to
reverse the debt, however, he is unaware that his job is a trap from which he will never escape.
Moreover, instead of acknowledging this hidden trap, he feels great pride in the fact that he had been
able to provide such a life for his parents and sister (72). Gregor is too distracted by the fact that he s

Causes Of Csare Lombroso
Nowadays it is common to hear expressions like beware of that man, he has the face of a thief ; These
young people are suspicious, their appearance is deplorable, or because of that scar he has, I would
say he is a criminal. It is also often observed that certain types of people are still rejected, isolated or
labeled by society, due to their physical characteristics, because they have congenital malformations,
or they have been acquired during the course of their existence. It is not good to judge by appearances,
but there are people who at first sight seem dangerous to us. In the nineteenth century, the scientist
Cesare Lombroso developed a theory that defines potential criminals by some of their physical
features.
Cesare Lombroso, a criminologist and Italian physicians, he was one of the forerunners of modern
criminology in that he may be born predisposed to be a criminal for biological causes. His legacy is
still present, although his studies and publications caused and continue to cause considerable
controversy. This Italian, who during his career published twenty five books that combine biological
science with criminology, was one of the most important exponents of criminological positivism. It is
a current that, instead of exposing sanctions for a certain act, is done for a delinquent studying its
characteristics, crime and manner of committing it in order to then seek a legal punishment that
adjusts to each case. Lombroso believed that human evolution and the

Essay on A P by John Updike
A P
John Updike, one of the most forward thinking and socially provocative writers of the 50s and 60s, is
known for his incisive presentation of the quandaries of contemporary personal and social life. (Lawn
529) Updike graduated from Harvard University and wrote for one of the more cutting edge
publications like The New Yorker both are notoriously ahead of their time and harbor controversial
ideas. In his short story A P , Updike reveals a young man named Sammy in a society on the brink of a
social revolution one in which a group of girls and an innocent cashier will unknowingly lead. Updike,
through symbolism and syntax, shows how the girls are leading the revolution, how Sammy is feeling
the wrath of this revolution, and ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The girls, despite their obvious fashion faux pas, carry themselves with a certain confidence and
individuality that is rare in this society. Updike has Sammy refer to the other customers as sheep, pigs,
house slaves, and even as having a fuselage revealing how empty these citizens are. The references to
sheep are clear symbols for the conformity of the late 1950s and early 1960s. The trend (or revolution)
towards non conformity is quickly approaching as the three girls are leaders of this new movement.
Their wealth allows them to most likely live within a large city where the world moves much faster
than in the rural regions and even in the suburbs. Whereas cities are always advancing in all aspects,
the small communities, much like the one Sammy lives in, tend to hold onto tradition and more
conservative values. The normal behavior for beach goers in this small town is, as Updike so blatantly
puts it, the women generally put on a shirt or shorts or something before they get out of the car into
the street. (Lawn 401) The three girls are part of a new generation, one that is changing styles of
fashion and lifestyle faster than ever before.
Sammy at first is an innocent onlooker to this fiasco. Sammy devotes much more descriptive quality
to the girls than to anyone or anything else surrounding him. In describing Queenie s bathing suit he
says, the straps were down.

Gimpel the Fool is a story written by Isaac Bashevis Singer. Saul Bellow translated the story I read
because the story was written in Yiddish. Gimpel The Fool is a story about a simple man named
Gimpel. He is considered by many to be a fool because he is a very gullible man. He is constantly
falling for tricks laid out by almost everyone. Gimpel is persuaded to marry Elka, a woman who will
wind up using him also. Elka treats Gimpel very poorly. She has his child only 17 weeks into the
marriage. Gimpel knows the child is not his, but allows himself to be persuaded into thinking that
some babies are born premature. Gimpel also catches Elka having an affair, but convinces ... Show

You are not a fool. They are the fools. For he who causes his neighbor to feel shame loses paradise
himself (Kennedy 69). He is married to her for 20 years, and when she is dying, she confesses, It was
ugly how I deceived you all these years. I want to go clean to my maker, and so I have to tell you that
the children are not yours (Kennedy 76). This is the wound to Gimpel s heart that leads to the dramatic
climax. The dramatic climax occurs when Gimpel buries the bad bread. This symbolizes closure and
his decision not to be evil for a second. He is done being a fool. He goes into the world (Kennedy 77)
and leaves Frampol, closing his ties with everyone even his family whom he tells, Be well, and forget
that such a one as Gimpel ever existed (Kennedy 77). Because of this event his life is brand new, and
his view of Elka is also brand new. She is no longer turning black. She becomes the complete opposite
of who she was in reality. She is loving and supportive of her husband in his dreams, which he sees
her in all the time.
Character may be defined as a verbal representation of a human being. By using character, the author
is able to portray which people play what role in the story. Singer used character to the fullest when

have a lot of experience with them, and I think temporary assignments are a great way to test different
types of companies and jobs. There are certain ground rules to follow when working for temporary
agencies. I will list them later. One of the first things you want to do before calling a temp agency to
set up an appointment is check out their Web site; most, if not all, agencies have one. If you can
register online and upload a copy of your resume, do it. This will help a lot with larger agencies like

your skill set. Within one or two days, someone from the agency will call you. You will still have to go
in for an interview and skills testing, but incorporating you into their employee network will be easier
for the agency. Many times I have read blogs where people lamented that agencies boasted dozens of

Global Warming Is A Real Problem Essay
Climate change is something everyone in the world should work to make bigger priority. Human
beings do not realize that living the way they want, instead of the way they should, is actually
damaging the planet and its climate. The main thing being changed by the people that inhabit the earth
is the earth s atmosphere. Our earth is comparable to that of a giant greenhouse, in which the earth s
atmosphere is comparable to that of the glass surroundings of an actual greenhouse. Greenhouse Gases
are what trap the suns heat along the surface of the earth to keep us warm at night. Ninety seven
percent of climate scientists agree that humans have changed the earth s atmosphere in dramatic ways
over the past two centuries, resulting in global warming . (What is the Greenhouse Effect?) Global
warming is a real problem, and it has real consequences. The slow increase in the earth s temperature
is called global warming. It is my opinion that this is because of the way people all over the earth go
about their daily living. Global warming and climate change can be eliminated by upgrading building
infrastructures over a period of time. Stopping the use of fossil fuels such as coal, oil and natural gas
will also have a huge impact on reducing global warming and climate change. Deforestation is also
aiding in the destruction of our planet by destroying millions of acres of land a year, and leaving the
earth gasping for more air. Despite the bleak outlook of our children s children future,

Investigate the Osmosis of Potato Cells in Various Salt Solutions
Introduction
I have been asked to investigate the effect of changing the concentration of a solution on the
movement of water into and out of potato cells. I will be able to change the input of my experiment.
The input variable will be the concentration of the solution. The
100% solution is sodium chloride dissolved in water (salt water).
This will be referred to as the 100% solution from now on. But the type of solution is not important as
Osmosis is all about differences in concentrations. The output variable will be the weight of the potato
chips, the movement of the water into and out of the potato.
Osmosis is the diffusion of water through a semi permeable

Planning
Firstly here is a list of equipment I used:
· Boiling tubes
· Weighing scales
· Knife
· Paper towels
· 100% solution
· 0% solution (distilled water)
· measuring beakers
· potato chips
· Cork borer
We planned to start our experiment by doing some preliminary work. We planned to set up our
experiment in the following way. We take one potato and cut from it three even potato chips. (These
potato chips will never be the same weight as we had to cut them ourselves and it is too inaccurate. So
we decided to calculate the percentage gain/loss as this would mean that the measurements are all on
the same scale.) We then would weigh the potato chips on a very sensitive weighing scale. These
weighing scales can weigh things to a hundredth of a gram so our measurements would be very
accurate. We d note down the weights. Then we d got our solutions ready. We were only given a
100% solution and a 0% solution so we had to mix them in the right ratio to get all the solutions we
needed. We decided to do 5 different types of solutions so we would have a wide range of results and
it would be more accurate. We d use 100%, 75%, 50%, 25%, 0% solutions in our experiment. But for
preliminary work we would only need three different strength solutions. These were the absolute max
the absolute zero and the middle, 100%, 50% 0% solutions.

Decline And Rise Of Traditional Medicine
The Decline and Rise of Traditional Medicine
In his book The Inconvenient Indian, Thomas King makes reference to the greatly reduced
populations of the indigenous population caused by the arrival of western diseases. In this essay I
intend to explore the ways in which the trajectory of the first nation s community was forever changed
not just by the effects of land appropriation but also by other side effects of colonisation. I want to
review how the traditional methods of health care, which had serviced the indigenous population for
centuries, were challenged by the onslaught of new diseases and later pushed underground by the
government s assimilation attempts and how they have survived these challenges to meet the needs of
modern day indigenous Canadians.
In an early copy of The Scientific Monthly, Dr. Hrdlicka of the Smithsonian Institute, was quoted as
saying that before its discovery by Columbus, America was one of the most healthful of continents, if
not the most so. This health status could be attributed to the lifestyle of the indigenous people, their
food varying according to the locality where they lived, was meat, fish, vegetables (often eaten raw),
nuts, seeds and fruits. Few areas had all these possibilities but, since Indians ate every part of an
animal and every edible plant in their locality, they came close an optimal diet. Traditional healers or
medicine men as they became known to non indigenous people were an integral part of the indigenous

For pleuritic pain NSAIDs can be given or other analgesics, on some occasions a short course of oral

However effusions that are considered chronic, recurrent and causing symptoms is teated with

Irons In A Golf Club
Golf clubs are sold in sets and individually. For beginning players, the set of clubs provides a good
selection of what is needed to start in a package that is normally priced nicely. Before choosing a set
of golf clubs honestly assess your playing interest in the game. You may want to start out with a lower
priced set until you determine if you like the game enough to play often. All golf manufacturers offer
golf club sets. The typical set of golf clubs consists of one or two woods, a driver, 4 irons a putter and

have a front that is tapered but a back that is square. This doesn t allow for flips or turns where the
rider can skim the water backwards.
While beginner s boards are normally cheaper than those for advanced riders, you might want to
consider a short board with twin tips if you plan on learning to perform tricks. On the other hand, if
you don t have any knowledge of boards at all, stick with a beginner board while you re learning to
stay on top of the water.
What Influences Your Choice of Wakeboard?
Once you ve decided on the tips and length of board, you re not done making decisions. The length isn
t focused on short or long alone. There are degrees of length to consider. You ll need to decide on the
board s rocker, the materials and fins as well as other factors.
Board Length
The length of the board is influenced by the weight of the rider and their riding style. A rider who
weighs under 150 pounds will need to choose a short length under 134

Comparing The Great Burning And Benet s By The Waters Of...
After a successful test of atomic bomb, Oppenheimer quoted the Bhagavad Gita saying Now I have
become Death, the destroyer of worlds. In the story, By the Waters of Babylon by Stephen Vincent
Benet, the main character John learns of the downfall of pervious society that ended due to nuclear
warfare. Nuclear warfare began around the 1940s, which would be right around when this story was
written; which, more likely than note, had an influence on this story. In By the Waters of Babylon the
reader learns about the Place of the Gods . The Place of the Gods is forbidden among the People of
The Hill and the People of the Forest. At the beginning of the story John mentions The Great Burning
: It is there that spirits live, and demons it is there that there are ashes of The Great Burning Later on
in the story the area where The Great Burning took place, John describes it as marks and stains. Oh is
not true what some tales say, that the ground there burns forever, for I have been there. Here and there
the mark and stains of The Great Burning, on the ruins, that is true. ... Show more content on

Near the end of World War II, the Manhattan Project was created to develop the atomic bombs that we
re dropped on Japan, 2 years after the story was published. The bombs were dropped on the cities:
Hiroshima and Nagasaki causing the deaths of roughly 220,000 people. According to History.net; The
first western scientists, serviceman, and journalists to arrive on the scene produced vivid and heart
wrenching reports describing a charred landscape populated by hideously burnt people, coughing up
and urinating blood and waiting to die. This description sounds very similar to the charred landscapes
that the reports, scientists and the serviceman found when arriving on Nagasaki and

The Contribution of the Labelling Theory to Our...
The Contribution of the Labelling Theory to Our Understanding of Crime and Deviancy
We can call a label, or define it as; a mark, name, or even badge.
Something is only deviant, or becomes deviant because someone has been successful in labelling it as,
deviancy is ambiguous, definitions differ from society to society or even culture to culture.
Calling something deviant is a reaction to a type of behaviour.
The labelling theory is very complex, it asks why some people committing crimes are named deviant
but others are not.
Labelling theorists believe when you label offenders as criminals, yobs, this has negative
consequences, deepening and worsening the criminal behaviour.
There are ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
A strength of labelling theory approach to deviance is that it not only concentrates on the social
reaction to deviance committed by individuals, as well as concentrating on the interaction processes
leading to the labelling, these being two important elements of the theory.
The effects on the Individual of labelling are especially important.
Having being labelled, as a deviant, the individual according to Becker, then will accept the label, and
for example turn to the life of crime, possibly with the help of a deviant subculture, feeling they have
no other alternative.
The last part of the labelling theory is, deviant career , this being when the labelled criminal evolves
into a complete, absolute deviant.
Kai T Erikson (1966) also highlights the way social reaction affects the individual, he supports and
reinforces what Becker suggests, he further suggests that deviance in a society is essential, and is
beneficial for creating a boundary between good and evil.
Furthermore there are a number of policy implications to do with the labelling theory, a vast majority
of them are impractical, such as the emphasis on rehabilitation, in helping the offenders be
rehabilitated from the label, although negatively some will not agree to participate in this.
Another implication is that criminal law

  • 2. Inclusion Essay I am extremely in favor of inclusion of students with disabilities. Inclusion can be defined as an option in which the education of a child is taken into consideration. For example, it involves the students with disabilities pursuing most or all of their education within an ordinary school setting with their other classmates that do not have disabilities. Inclusion has many objectives, but the most important objective of inclusion would definitely have to be in that it is a program that supports children with special needs having equal educational conditions. Inclusion attempts to accomplish this by giving those students various resources that will help them succeed in school, such as greater access to the general education curriculum. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Students with disabilities should feel that they belong in the classroom. They should not feel like if the school and teachers are doing them a favor by letting them be in the regular classrooms. They should feel like they belong there. I agree with the two initiatives that were started in 2002 and 2004. They are The No Child Left Behind Act (NCLB) and the Disabilities Education Improvement Act (IDEA). Thanks to the start of those two initiatives many students with disabilities have positively benefited. Those initiatives have enable them to receive the majority of their instruction in a general education setting. There has been a trend that researchers have noticed that is occurring. In the last ten years, there has been an increase in educating the students with disabilities in the general education settings. There has also been a trend in the teachers being prepared to work with all types of students (McCray, 2011). From what I have learned from the teacher preparation program in my university, I feel slightly prepared to work with students with disabilities. I have learned many things such as different methods to accommodate those students with disabilities. In the various courses, I have learned many important techniques to help students with disabilities. For example, I have learned that I need to try various alternatives such as scaffolding and differentiating ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Christians will try to convince people that the Bible is true, while non Christians will say that there are too many inaccuracies in the Bible for it to be true. As Christians, we should take a look at what the other side has to say, so we are aware of what others believe and so that we can accurately talk about the other side s claims. Another reason that Christians should conduct their own research on the accuracy is so they can defend their faith and know why they believe what they believe. There are many people in our would today that believe certain facts and information to be true only because friends or family ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... This account was an early example that shows us that even before Jesus came, God the Father performed miracles. Through research Dr. Gary Habermas, a scholar in New Testament history and has conducted lots of research for providing sound evidence to support the New Testament, discovered that many agree and recognize Jesus miracles dealing with healings and exorcisms, but deny the nature miracles. The fact that Jesus miracles are listed and discussed in each of the Gospels show proof that Jesus really did perform miracles. Dr. Gary Habermas stated, medical studies of certain miraculous phenomena today indicate that we are still not able to account for all such incident in purely naturalistic terms. That statement from Dr. Habermas shows that one cannot account for the miracles through naturalistic elements, but rather have to acknowledge that Jesus really did perform miracles. Dr. Gary Habermas is not the only person that has looked into the miracles of Jesus. It is these beings that cause belief to become action and compel the masses to move through their example, sometimes unknowingly. In 1957, nine young African Americans voluntarily chose to desegregate Little Rock Central High and break free of the black white mold that society had made. Those young students became known as the Little Rock Nine hated by those unlike them, terrorized by schoolmates and even ostracized by their people. The moment these young African Americans enrolled into Central High, they became warriors for equality facing the battlefield of racism. The citizens of Little Rock were outraged that Negroes would soon be mingling with their children. The day the court order was passed, Melba Patillo Beals was assaulted and nearly raped by a adult white male who was so infuriated by the Supreme Court s decision (Beals, 1995). Acts of violence and hostility became more frequent towards the Nine. Five days later the Little Rock school board stated that they would integrate Central High, but not until September 1957. Originally 17 students had planned to integrate Central High, but due to threats of violence eight students backed down, adding additional anxiety to the remaining Nine. With the help of the National Association for the Advancement of Colored People, plans for integrating Central High were becoming reality. On September 4, Little Rock awoke to the Arkansas Democrat headline which read, Armed Troops Turn Back Nine Negroes at Central High School ( Armed troops turn, 1957). • 6. Analytical Analysis Of Frost At Midnight By Samuel Coleridge Analytical essay of Frost at Midnight by Samuel Coleridge People think that nature brings a sort of calmness, happiness or peace, which is why most people travel to places with beautiful sceneries, or build houses near beaches, or have a plant in their surrounding or even just a painting of a tree, flower or mountain. The importance of nature is subjective as it nature touches people in different ways. The poem Frost at Midnight, Samuel Coleridge, is a monolingual conversation between the speaker and his sleeping infant. It is written in blank verse, with little or no rhyme but in iambic pentameter. In this poem, the speaker emphasises the importance of nature by equating it to God, he also speaks about the ability of nature to create treasured memories, which he wants to use to plant himself in his child s future, therefore, he his rallying against modernization because of this. The speaker stresses the importance of nature by comparing it to God, he says that his child will be far from God because he will not be able to hear God s voice which apparently is, The lovely shapes and sounds intelligible / Of that eternal language... (65 66). I believe that this comparison is quite different as most religions such as Christianity do not equate God with earth but instead suggests that God created earth (New International Version, Gen. 1.1). This sentence makes me think that God can mean different things to different people. The thing or person we worship the most or respect the most can be a god, money can be a god, a popular music artist can be a god, and a tyrannical president can also be a god. The speaker s definition of a God involved the ability to: from eternity doth teach Himself in all... Great universal Teacher! (67 69).The speaker s definition of God entails the ability to be able to teach one s self and be able to mold spirits. Thereby nature is important in this way because it can mold people s spirits and lives. Another way in which the speaker stresses the importance of nature is by stating benefits from nature. He is sitting at home and staring out through the window, looking at the fluttering object and listening to the owl while the rest of the residents in the house are asleep. He is in his ... Leadership Is Different From Management And Their Functions Leadership is different from management and their functions are totally different based on their fundamental philosophies, outcomes, and functions (Toor and Ofori, 2008, p.63). • 8. Narrative Essay On High School Basketball My freshman year of high school basketball was almost coming to an end. Our record was pretty stellar, and we needed one more win to get the wildcard, which meant we would automatically make it to state. My team was playing against Malcolm, in a really tight game. We were down by two points and Coach Henkel put me in to shoot a three pointer, but both of our hopes and dreams were short lived. I missed the shot, and I lost the game for us. I was devastated, and so was everyone else. As I sat in the locker room, all I could do was stare at the ground. The only thing running through my mind was, no one is going to trust me with the ball anymore or worse yet, everyone is going to be mad at me. These thoughts were slowly tearing me down, day by day. But that was until Coach Henkel talked to me, and told me not to worry about missing the shot. He told me everyone misses, and that he wasn t to worried. So, I was given two options, dwell on the past and let that affect my playing, or forget about it and move on. I have been given multiple opportunities where not dwelling on the past has come into play. In the eighth grade I helped someone cheat on a test, and got caught. Yes, it was a bad decision and I have definitely learned from it. I had to serve a detention and then always thought that Mr. Sass was going to hate me forever. Their existence has been over the past few centuries have been noted and highly complimented for being close allies of humans. In recent years, over the past few decades, the controversy of keeping dolphins under human captivity has blown way up and received uncanny amounts of criticism for holding dolphins in smaller aquariums for human entertainment. The ethicality of bottle nosed dolphin captivity is frequently questioned, however the quality of life and health of the dolphins is often not acknowledged to its full potential or received praise for the benefits constant human supervision has for dolphin life. Dolphins are social animals, when in the wild they live in pods varying in sizes from 2 40 dolphins. They develop a social hierarchy with either a head male or female to essentially lead the group. In comparison, social bonds between dolphins and even their trainers in their tanks have also been found to have remarkable bonds, and specifically the partnership between the dolphin and its trainer has been notarized for their mutual respect. • 12. Lost And Found Summary And Analysis New York City is one of those places that changes in a blink of an eye. In Lost and Found, by Colson Whitehead, Whitehead observes the changes in atmosphere that he often sees in the city and connects it to the fall of the twin towers that happened just months before publication. In Whitehead s New York, he often sees a lot of locations being changed or replaced. For example, one of the changes Whitehead imagines a cafe now becoming a pharmacy. It also brings with it a substantial amount of moral questions as to what is right. The use of covert action has been widely publicized since the early seventies, but trying to find out the truth to these events has been difficult to say the least. What is even more difficult, is historically recording these events into categories of successes or failures. These operations are difficult to dissect because of their secrecy and although events have been recorded, some facts simply aren t apparent. The start of the coup would begin through a series of events highlighting Mossadegh negatively. The first part of this would be to paint Mossadegh and his government as anti religious due to the ties between him and the Tudeh (and the Soviet Union).(7) The second part of this would be to instill a fear that Mossadegh was leading the country into economic collapse. This would be publicized through the use illegally issued paper money (printed by the CIA).(8) These two factors would cause widespread civil unrest with the people of Iran in which the Shah would remove Mossadegh from office and replace him with Zahedi. The key to the success of the operation was support from the Shah which in part seemed difficult at times because of his indecisiveness. On the morning of 19 August 1953, the coup began and by 5:25pm Zahedi had ascended into power courtesy of the SIS and CIA. Iran: Aftermath The Shah would remain in power until 1979. Specifically, range anxiety, an important detriment to consumer consideration, will be largely alleviated thanks to improvements in battery technologies. In fact, GM promises 200 miles of range for the Bolt or about twice the distance of the Nissan Leaf s current limits. Similarly, the new Tesla will deliver a projected 215 miles of electric driving. That both vehicles are priced in the $35,000 to $38,000 range is important too with federal and state incentives available to qualified buyers, the two models may parallel the cost of buying a similar gasoline powered model. Electric Vehicle Proviso Before we become all giddy about electric vehicle mainstreaming it is important to note one highly significant caveat the range numbers are realized when an electric vehicle is operated in optimum weather conditions, such as at 77 degrees Fahrenheit. At the extremes, especially in sub freezing driving, vehicle range may fall dramatically. For instance, the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) found that fuel economy for hybrid electric vehicles ...can drop about 31% to 34%... under extreme conditions. Given that hybrids and electric vehicles share similar battery componentry, that 200 mile range may fall to 130 miles. It could mean anything from the inherent character or basic constitution of a person or thing to the external world in its entirety to a spontaneous attitude (Merriam Webster). However, despite its many forms, in its essence, nature as a concept implicates powerlessness for individuals. It will always be something that is beyond human control, whether it be the forces that work around people such as weather or animals, or the innate and uncontrollable characteristics within one s personality. Accordingly, after the daughters who have no deep love for their father profess their affection for him in a mendacious display of emotion, the daughter that loves Lear most, Cordelia, refuses to compliment him, claiming she cannot heave [her] heart into [her mouth] (1.1.88 89). She decides to rely on the actions of her past to reveal her affections, however, Lear has yet to accept the value of honesty, so he rails against his youngest daughter exclaiming Let it be so! Thy truth then be thy dower ...here I disclaim all my paternal care, propinquity and property of blood, and as a stranger to my heart and me hold thee from this forever. (1.1.110 115). Both Lear s strong reaction and his rejection of truth and honesty reflect his own insecurities and inability to divulge his genuine nature. Having lived his whole life like a performance on stage, he feels threatened by Cordelia s rejection of a false grandeur which Lear, whether he realizes it or not, sees as a personal attack against his own fabricated identity. Consequently, lashing out from his jealousy for Cordelia s ability to remain true to herself, Lear acts against his better judgment by banishing her, and foreshadows the ironic trajectory of this story. • 17. The Vampire Effect Of Dracula Not many people would think that they can be compared to Count Dracula. Considered to be one of the most well known monsters of all time, Count Dracula sucks the blood of his victims, which would ultimately lead to their death. While this seems like a very unique example, it can be applied to nearly every person, specifically in the college stetting. This phenomenon that can be linked to this monster is called the vampire effect. First used in the book ______, this term refers to the what happens in social groups due to different personality types that were caused by a difference in economic background. Set in a college dormitory, chapter 4 of the book discusses how there is a difference in the social lives of students who are quiet versus students who are more outgoing. Students who were shy were generally ignored and did not seem to partake in many social activities. While Armstrong and Hamilton suggest that the Vampire Effect arises due to the social students knowingly ignoring and rejecting the shyer students, that is not the case. The cycle through which the effect takes place starts with self comparison due to economic status, envy, and self blame, and results in anxiety and self isolation. Although this is done unintentionally, consciously known factors such debt and class also play a role in the process. As Armstrong and Hamilton describe the social isolates , Others treated the quieter roommate as sort of a sidekick or an invisible appendage (105). ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 18. The Role Of Women In Barbie Doll, By Marge Piercy People are oftentimes cast into roles or duties that some might believe are duties for certain groups of people. For example, some people feel nursing is a career for women; and when they encounter a male nurse, they might not be as receptive to him. In other words, they just don t feel comfortable with their skills. Also, society has placed women in the role of stay at home moms and housekeepers. Men who take on the duties of stay at home dads are sometimes frowned upon by society and assumptions are made that the dad is not performing manly duties. However, there is no one mold fit all society. People, especially women, should not be stereotyped in roles or duties that society deemed women only . The poems Barbie Doll , Girl , and Daystar reveals the pain, shame, and loneliness that some women might experience because of society s beliefs. Marge Piercy s poem Barbie Doll reveals society s perception and expectations of girls as soon as they are born. She is to grow up and adhere to normal girl behavior. Behavior that does not deviate from restrictive roles and ideals. Piercy starts the poem off with gender recognition so that the reader can understand the girlchild role in life as a woman. In other words, she will fit into society s mold; and the use of the word presented rather than given lets the reader know the importance of the items (2). After all, they are her training tools. This girlchild was born as usual and presented dolls that did pee pee and miniature GE stoves and irons and wee lipsticks the color of cherry candy (1 4). Dolls that pee pee are to train her for motherhood. A stove is to train her for preparing meals; and an iron is for making sure her family is always polished. The lipstick is to remind her that society expects her to be beautiful as well. Puberty is not a magical time. Piercy use of the word magic and puberty together draws attention from society s perceived Barbie Doll to reality (5). Puberty is a time that can create havoc, as the girlchild found out. The author says that one of the milestones of the girl s life happens in the magic of puberty (5). Puberty is a time of awkward transitions and not a time of magic, but expressing it in a ... Professor of Performance Studies and academic, Elizabeth Wollman detailed the deal between Disney and the city in an article analyzing the interaction between theatre and corporations. She explained: Disney agreed to spend approximately $6 million to renovate the huge, ninety five year old New Amsterdam on 42nd Street, Disney would enjoy exclusive use of the New Amsterdam, which it now occupies under a long term, forty nine year lease and currently uses to house the musical version of The Lion King. The city and state agreed to lend Disney an additional $28 million in low interest loans in return for 2 percent of all ticket receipts from shows staged at the theater. In The Death of Horatio Alger, Krugman explains the idea of income mobility in America is less reality now than it was in the 20th century. Also, it was believed to be more reality in the 20th century than it really was (Krugman). Income mobility means one s ability to go from one social economic class to another higher or lower class. The American dream seemed to be a reality as more and more people experienced just that type of income mobility. The two factors which seem most closely related are economics, and the lack of access to education. We are seeing more and more dead end jobs that have little or no room for improvement. Gimpel is persuaded to marry Elka, a woman who will wind up using him also. Elka treats Gimpel very poorly. She has his child only 17 weeks into the marriage. Gimpel knows the child is not his, but allows himself to be persuaded into thinking that some babies are born premature. Gimpel also catches Elka having an affair, but convinces ... He is married to her for 20 years, and when she is dying, she confesses, It was ugly how I deceived you all these years. I want to go clean to my maker, and so I have to tell you that the children are not yours (Kennedy 76). This is the wound to Gimpel s heart that leads to the dramatic climax. The dramatic climax occurs when Gimpel buries the bad bread. This symbolizes closure and his decision not to be evil for a second. He is done being a fool. He goes into the world (Kennedy 77) and leaves Frampol, closing his ties with everyone even his family whom he tells, Be well, and forget that such a one as Gimpel ever existed (Kennedy 77). Because of this event his life is brand new, and his view of Elka is also brand new. She is no longer turning black. She becomes the complete opposite of who she was in reality. She is loving and supportive of her husband in his dreams, which he sees her in all the time. Character may be defined as a verbal representation of a human being. By using character, the author is able to portray which people play what role in the story. Singer used character to the fullest when creating Gimpel. I have a lot of experience with them, and I think temporary assignments are a great way to test different types of companies and jobs. There are certain ground rules to follow when working for temporary agencies. I will list them later. One of the first things you want to do before calling a temp agency to set up an appointment is check out their Web site; most, if not all, agencies have one. If you can register online and upload a copy of your resume, do it. This will help a lot with larger agencies like Kelly, Robert Half and Adecco. Another advantage is that you can apply for jobs that you think meet your skill set. Within one or two days, someone from the agency will call you. You will still have to go in for an interview and skills testing, but incorporating you into their employee network will be easier for the agency. Many times I have read blogs where people lamented that agencies boasted dozens of jobs in ads, but when they went in to apply, the jobs had all disappeared. This isn t true. The agency does have many jobs. The problem is they may not have any that match your ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 34. Global Warming Is A Real Problem Essay Climate change is something everyone in the world should work to make bigger priority. Human beings do not realize that living the way they want, instead of the way they should, is actually damaging the planet and its climate. The main thing being changed by the people that inhabit the earth is the earth s atmosphere. Our earth is comparable to that of a giant greenhouse, in which the earth s atmosphere is comparable to that of the glass surroundings of an actual greenhouse. Greenhouse Gases are what trap the suns heat along the surface of the earth to keep us warm at night. Ninety seven percent of climate scientists agree that humans have changed the earth s atmosphere in dramatic ways over the past two centuries, resulting in global warming . (What is the Greenhouse Effect?) Global warming is a real problem, and it has real consequences. The slow increase in the earth s temperature is called global warming. It is my opinion that this is because of the way people all over the earth go about their daily living. Global warming and climate change can be eliminated by upgrading building infrastructures over a period of time. Stopping the use of fossil fuels such as coal, oil and natural gas will also have a huge impact on reducing global warming and climate change. Deforestation is also aiding in the destruction of our planet by destroying millions of acres of land a year, and leaving the earth gasping for more air. Despite the bleak outlook of our children s children future, ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Investigate the Osmosis of Potato Cells in Various Salt Solutions Introduction I have been asked to investigate the effect of changing the concentration of a solution on the movement of water into and out of potato cells. I will be able to change the input of my experiment. The input variable will be the concentration of the solution. The 100% solution is sodium chloride dissolved in water (salt water). This will be referred to as the 100% solution from now on. But the type of solution is not important as Osmosis is all about differences in concentrations. The output variable will be the weight of the potato chips, the movement of the water into and out of the potato. Osmosis is the diffusion of water through a semi permeable membrane ... Planning Firstly here is a list of equipment I used: · Boiling tubes · Weighing scales · Knife · Paper towels · 100% solution · 0% solution (distilled water) · measuring beakers · potato chips · Cork borer We planned to start our experiment by doing some preliminary work. We planned to set up our experiment in the following way. We take one potato and cut from it three even potato chips. (These potato chips will never be the same weight as we had to cut them ourselves and it is too inaccurate. So we decided to calculate the percentage gain/loss as this would mean that the measurements are all on the same scale.) We then would weigh the potato chips on a very sensitive weighing scale. These weighing scales can weigh things to a hundredth of a gram so our measurements would be very accurate. We d note down the weights. Then we d got our solutions ready. We were only given a 100% solution and a 0% solution so we had to mix them in the right ratio to get all the solutions we needed. We decided to do 5 different types of solutions so we would have a wide range of results and

  • 37. Decline And Rise Of Traditional Medicine The Decline and Rise of Traditional Medicine In his book The Inconvenient Indian, Thomas King makes reference to the greatly reduced populations of the indigenous population caused by the arrival of western diseases. In this essay I intend to explore the ways in which the trajectory of the first nation s community was forever changed not just by the effects of land appropriation but also by other side effects of colonisation. I want to review how the traditional methods of health care, which had serviced the indigenous population for centuries, were challenged by the onslaught of new diseases and later pushed underground by the government s assimilation attempts and how they have survived these challenges to meet the needs of modern day indigenous Canadians. In an early copy of The Scientific Monthly, Dr. Hrdlicka of the Smithsonian Institute, was quoted as saying that before its discovery by Columbus, America was one of the most healthful of continents, if not the most so. This health status could be attributed to the lifestyle of the indigenous people, their food varying according to the locality where they lived, was meat, fish, vegetables (often eaten raw), nuts, seeds and fruits. Few areas had all these possibilities but, since Indians ate every part of an animal and every edible plant in their locality, they came close an optimal diet. Traditional healers or medicine men as they became known to non indigenous people were an integral part of the indigenous ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

While beginner s boards are normally cheaper than those for advanced riders, you might want to consider a short board with twin tips if you plan on learning to perform tricks. After a successful test of atomic bomb, Oppenheimer quoted the Bhagavad Gita saying Now I have become Death, the destroyer of worlds. In the story, By the Waters of Babylon by Stephen Vincent Benet, the main character John learns of the downfall of pervious society that ended due to nuclear warfare. Nuclear warfare began around the 1940s, which would be right around when this story was written; which, more likely than note, had an influence on this story. The Contribution of the Labelling Theory to Our Understanding of Crime and Deviancy We can call a label, or define it as; a mark, name, or even badge. Something is only deviant, or becomes deviant because someone has been successful in labelling it as, deviancy is ambiguous, definitions differ from society to society or even culture to culture. Calling something deviant is a reaction to a type of behaviour. The labelling theory is very complex, it asks why some people committing crimes are named deviant but others are not. Labelling theorists believe when you label offenders as criminals, yobs, this has negative consequences, deepening and worsening the criminal behaviour. There are ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... A strength of labelling theory approach to deviance is that it not only concentrates on the social reaction to deviance committed by individuals, as well as concentrating on the interaction processes leading to the labelling, these being two important elements of the theory. The effects on the Individual of labelling are especially important. Having being labelled, as a deviant, the individual according to Becker, then will accept the label, and for example turn to the life of crime, possibly with the help of a deviant subculture, feeling they have no other alternative. The last part of the labelling theory is, deviant career , this being when the labelled criminal evolves into a complete, absolute deviant. Kai T Erikson (1966) also highlights the way social reaction affects the individual, he supports and reinforces what Becker suggests, he further suggests that deviance in a society is essential, and is beneficial for creating a boundary between good and evil. Furthermore there are a number of policy implications to do with the labelling theory, a vast majority of them are impractical, such as the emphasis on rehabilitation, in helping the offenders be rehabilitated from the label, although negatively some will not agree to participate in this. Another implication is that criminal law
