Essay about the aztecs
The Aztecs
Introduction
The tribe in which I will be researching is the Aztecs tribe. I plan to find out the answers to the
questions below.
1. Where they lived?
2. Their religions?
3. What they ate?
4. Some of their beliefs?
5. What life was like?
The Aztecs
The Indian tribe I am studying is the Aztecs. I plan on answering questions such as what life was like,
what they ate, how they dressed, what their religions were, and many other questions which I intended
on finding out. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
A major part of an average Aztec man or woman entertaining area would be the game Tlachlli. This
game would be played, and the results would affect how the future could be. They would play in a
semi big stadium where a rubber ball would be hit with the Aztec players, as they would try to get it
through a hole up on a wall. Goals were extremely rare, but if you did score, you would extremely
famous throughout the empire. (Steele, 20 amp;21.) Priests said that the gods would play Tlachilli, the
sky would be their court, and the sun would be their ball. The results of a game would tell the priest
what would happen in the future. (Steele, 21 amp;25.)
I found many interesting facts during this study, and the most interesting fact, which I found was one
of the Aztecs ancient beliefs. The Aztecs said that where they would find an eagle on a cactus with a
snake in its mouth, which is where they would build their city. (Stuart, 69.) They found a snake on a
cactus with a eagle in its mouth and built their city on it. The city was named Tenochit. This
tremendous city was their home, and in the center they had Pyramids where they would make their
sacrifices for their gods. This city is now what makes the heart of the huge capital of Mexico, Mexico
City. And the emblem in which the Aztecs had pictured of an eagle on a cactus with a snake in its
mouth can now be found on the flag of Mexico.

A Research Study On School Psychology
I have always pictured myself working with children, for as long as I can remember. Thus, for the
proposed career group project (part 1), my group presented information on the child life specialist
profession. However, after much thought, I have decided to change my emphasis from child life to
child development and pursue a career as a school psychologist, once I graduate. School psychology is
a wide ranging practice and health service provider concerned with offering an assortment of
psychological diagnosis, assessments, and interventions, et cetera to all learners (i.e. children, youth
and families) (American Psychological Association (APA), (2015). The educational requirements, as
described by the National Association of School Psychologists (NASP), consists of the completion of
a 60 graduate semester specialist level program in school psychology plus a 1200 hour internship, for
a majority of states (2015). Therefore, upon receiving my bachelor s degree in child and family
development, I plan to attend a graduate program that meets the NASP standards for approval, and as
stated by the Bureau of Labor Statistics (2015), clinical, counseling, and school psychologists earn an
annual median of $74,030.
What Are the Personal Philosophy, Values, and Beliefs? I feel as if school psychology is a great fit for
me. It will allow me to provide counseling and support for those students facing emotional distress
and/or difficulties that may affect their academic performance.

Information Management And The Retail Industry
Information Management and the Retail Industry The retail industry is ever changing and evolving.
The more successful companies within the industry understand the need to use technology to their
advantage. Information management is the process by which different types of data is collected,
categorized, and stored (Turban, Volonino, Wood, Sipior, 2013, p. 32). A review of the collected data
is done to ascertain the value of the contents and reports are generated based on that data (Turban,
Volonino, Wood, Sipior). The Importance of Information Management in Retail The retail industry
uses information management systems to make decisions on the brands they introduce to their stores
as well as the best fashion designers they should collaborate with (Parekh, 2014). The data collected is
invaluable in that it enabled the industry to make quick decisions based on what their customers want
to purchase, and it gives those that use the technology, ideas as to upcoming trends. This is gives them
the advantage over their competitors (Parekh). Prior to the use of information management, the
industry made educated guesses at what their customers wanted. The more an item sold, the more they
attempted to keep the item in stock. With information management, retailers are using real time, fact
based to maintain pace with their competitors and meet the demands of their customers (Parekh).
Information management is one of the heaviest users by the retail industry. Retailers

The Negative Effects Of Zero Earthquavity On Humans
Zero gravity can be something fun to experience, but it can also have some bad effects on humans.
Zero gravity or weightlessness happens when the effects of gravity are not experienced. Humans have
been experiencing zero gravity since the year 1961 when Russian cosmonaut Yuri Gagarin became the
first human to travel to space. Zero gravity has became something humans experience for fun. For
example there is a company called Zero G and they they allow people to pay money to go up in a
plane and experience zero gravity. Even though some people find Zero gravity as a experience of a
lifetime, it can also have some bad effects on humans. The International Space Station is in constant
freefall above Earth. It s forward motion is just about equal to the speed it falls to earth. This allows
the astronauts inside to experience zero gravity. One function of The International Space Station is to
test the long term effects that zero gravity has on the human body. It was a huge focus for the first one
year long mission where astronauts were in zero gravity for one year straight. (space.com) NASA uses
astronauts to determine the effects of zero gravity on humans. They send them to the International
Space Station for long period at a time. Just recently Scott Kelly and Mikhail Kornienko were the first
humans to spend one consecutive year in space. NASA used them to test the effects of zero gravity on
humans. They used that information to help determine how humans would react to zero

Fantasy vs. Reality
Fantasy vs. Reality
Silently, my senses begin to abandon their rationale...who is to say then what is real? The world that
we live in, the reality, which we are a part of, is small and thus limited. That is why, in his infinite
capacity for potential improvement, man created fantasy. Fantasy is BIG! To a certain extent it is more
imaginative, more exciting, and more fun. Fantasy is like a lake where man throws all his ideas and
dreams, and then he dives on in from the springboard of imagination. So, jump in to the lake. Why
not? Just make sure that when you jump in to the lake you know how to get back from where you
came from. Because, no matter how big a fantasy is, to the point that it somehow changes our
perception of what is ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
This is fantasy mixing itself with reality, that in the process, it is now becoming hard to determine
whether that particular fantasy is still just a fantasy apart from reality or it is already mistaken to be
reality itself. Soft trick of sun and shadow conjures the fruits and foliates into tall towers and halls,
risen from the windy old streets. This would mean the sun playing tricks by producing shadows.
Shadows are kind of a pointer to something, pointing to what is real and yet in itself is not real, just
like the imagination. Just as the sun produces the shadow, the mind produces the imagination, wherein
both the shadow and the imagination point to something that is real but again, in themselves alone are
not real. And so, the sun playing tricks would mean conjuring or summoning the fruits and foliates,
which refer to little bits of reality and transforming them into tall towers and halls, which in turn are
pinpointing to grand and fantastical images. In other words, simple pieces of reality are then altered
into majestic landscapes thus creating a fantasy. And to enhance the image more, the tall towers and
halls are risen from the windy old streets. What do we usually find in windy old streets? We find
dilapidated and out of date houses and structures and yet the image of tall towers and halls are found
on those very streets. The very presence of tall towers and halls

Case Study Of Calamondin
CHAPTER 1
INTRODUCTION
1.1 Background of study
Calamondin (Citrus Microcarpa) is widely grown in tropical and subtropical area including Taiwan,
Philiphines, Indonesia and Malaysia and also a member of genus citrus. Calamondin (Citrus
Microcarpa) juice has the mandarin like aroma in combination with a zesty taste of lime, and with hint
of acidic astringent. In Malaysia, it has been commonly used as seasoning in food, as a flavouring
agent in foods and drinks and also used as a food additive.
However, as reported by Ruiz Flotats (2014), citrus processing for juice extraction produce waste
nearly half of the fruit processed which transformed into citrus peel including peels, seeds and
membrane residue. The citrus waste typically has low pH ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
It is reported that about 50 60 % of processed citrus fruit is transformed into waste, which is composed
of peels, seeds and membrane residues (Fong, 2012).
The world production of essential oils and perfumes are increasing very fast (Powar et al., 2013). In
addition, there is limited research on optimum condition in extraction of essential oils using steam
distillation (Nurhani et al., 2013) and none of them extracting essential oil from Calamondin.
1.3 Objective
1.3.1 To determine optimum condition for extraction of essential oil using Steam Distillation from
calamondin (Citrus microcarpa) peels by Response Surface Methodology (RSM).
1.3.2 To determine the physicochemical properties of essential oil extracted from calamondin (Citrus
microcarpa) peels.
1.4 Significant of Study
This research is designated to find a possible way to solve the environmental problem by minimize the
production of biomaterials from citrus fruits waste. Environmental problem by the production of
biomaterials from citrus waste can be overcome by producing the molecule of interest which is
essential

Persuasive Essay About French Food
I m craving for French food. Want to go get some?
That s one phrase I ve never had to answer simply because no one brings that up. We don t go to
French restaurants on a student budget because almost anything with the word French attached to it is
a tad bit overpriced. When I think of enjoying French food, I think of men having to wear pressed
suits and women donning their glamorous dresses and high heels, then they need to have powdered
noses and carefully coiffed hair before being served food in very large plates but with tiny portions. It
s a cuisine of the elite but for something so highly regarded it s ironic that French food isn t too much
known compared to what people know of Italian food.
To be honest I was a bit overwhelmed when we started learning about French food thinking that it
would really be difficult to grasp, and the terms were so hard to pronounce, it was that one time that I
realized a little too late that hors d oeuvres weren t even pronounced as horse devours. In short
everything was ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The question is to what extent to we really know Italian cuisine? Is it the ever so present red sauce,
oregano, thyme, olive oil and heaping amounts of cheese with every serving?
This definitely doesn t even do justice to what Italian food really is like, in other parts of Italy they
don t even use the tomato sauce for their pasta dishes, just good al dente pasta with a bit of garlic and
drizzled with olive oil but it doesn t end there. They have fabulous seafood dishes, meat and not to
mention the wine. The food varies from place to place and it is not always what we re used to. Not
everything in the menu is just about Naples, where the famous pizza originated. There s so much more
to Italian cuisine that makes it what it is and it s definitely not just pizza and

NCAA March Madness Regression Report
In this project, many different statistics were used to try and predict the winners of the NCAA March
Madness tournament. To do this, statistics were tested from the previous year to see if they moderately
correlated to winning games. When a stat is moderately correlated, that means it relates to winning.
Using a scatter plot, a graph that gives a visual of whether or not a stat is correlated, correlation
coefficients were found for each stat. The correlation coefficient is a decimal that shows if a set of
numbers is moderately correlated. After finding stats that were the closest to being moderately
correlated, a metric was put together that used the best stats to determine which teams will win games.
The stat that was the closest to being moderately correlated was the turnover ratio of the teams.
Another stat that was almost moderately correlated was RPI, or Rating Percentage Index. This stat
uses a team s win percentage, their opponents win percentage, and their opponents opponents win
percentage to rank teams. Also, missed field goal percentage was a stat that was used. ... Show more

There is a catch, however. If any stat was strongly correlated, basketball games would already be
decided before the game starts. The team with the highest strongly correlated stat would win every
game, and there would be no point to the tournament. Strong correlations are an impossibility anyway,
because the game of basketball has so many variables. Injuries, crowds, nervousness, and plain luck
could make any team win a game, and these variables are unchartable. If one team has the best field
goal percentage and the best RPI, but they get nervous, they could lose. Metrics can t count for
nervousness. These variables prevent one team from winning every game every time and, at the same
time, make watching March Madness a fun

on ways to annoy his mom. For example, Julian wondered what his mom would think or do if he

Criminal Investigation And The Crime Scene
I am sure I am not the only one that thinks of the hit television show CSI when I hear of criminal
investigations. What people probably don t know is that the people who work as investigators are not
particularly pretty people with pencil skirts, expensive suits, and a full hair and makeup team; they are
law enforcers that specialize in the science aspect of solving crimes.
In 2009, Hekim stated that: Investigative police work is mostly about the recovery, analysis and
interpretation of information about criminal offenses. The investigative process of a crime consists of
taking victim and witness statements, examining the crime scene, collecting physical evidence,

1). Americans obtained their first investigators in 1789 and they were known as revenue agents (O
Connor, 2006, para. 3). Americans in the late 1700s were recruited from civilian life and it wasn t until
the 1950s that a college education was preferred in the investigations department (O Connor, 2006,
para. 3). The first major private detective agency of the nineteenth century was formed by Allan
Pinkerton in 1819 1884 (Swanson et al., 2002, para 1). In my opinion, the biggest milestone for
investigative work was the discovery of DNA. It has made the task of apprehending criminals
exponentially easier and is virtually error free.
How to become a Criminal Investigator There are different ways to become a criminal investigator:
you can go to school and major in criminology or criminal science and get hired as a criminal
investigator perhaps in a small town where prior experience is not required or you can take the most
common avenue and become a police officer first. After becoming a sworn police officer, you can
receive on the job training and attend specialized classes to become an investigator. Speaking with a
current Myrtle Beach Police Crime Scene Investigator, David Bailey, I learned that if you want to go
into investigations you don t necessarily need a certain under graduate major; you just need to get your
foot in the door by becoming a police officer and then be willing to

Costco Corporation Was Founded By A Pair Of Entrepreneurs,...
Costco Corporation was founded by a pair of entrepreneurs, James Sinegal and Jeffrey Brotman.
Costco is a large wholesales retailer where low price is only a fraction of why they are so successful.
Their profit margins, ethical standards, and happy employees all contribute to why Costco is a
successful business with over 488 locations serving around 48 million cardholders in eight countries.
Costco has an annual sale of over $50 billion due to the strategies they implemented to keep their
workforce of 125,000 motivated. It is known across the world that Costco treat their employees well
and in return the employees are highly motivated to work for Costco and make it a success. Costco is
the top warehouse club and the fourth largest retailer in the United Sates. Costco started from a single
store in Seattle in 1983 to become one of the largest multinational warehouses chain. The story of
Costco begins with the exemplary leadership from the co founders, James Sinegal and Jeffrey
Brotman. The cofounders launched Costco with the idea of having a high volume of inventory which
they could sell for low cost. In order to provide their items at low cost and also pay their employees
well to keep them motivated, Sinegal and Brotman concocted a brilliant idea. The idea was to use the
warehouse as itself, meaning that concrete floors, fluorescent lights, and pallets of merchandise are all
essential to keep price low and customer happy. Although it does not look visually appealing, the

Detecting Facial Cues and Body Language
Expressions are very valuable, as they can prompt us regarding opportunities and threats in individuals
and scenarios that we encounter. Happiness indicates an approachable person while anger signifies
someone to stay away from. These two decisions are the most basic and simplest behavioral decisions.
But sometimes, this decision does go wrong, since humans are after all humans. And along with the
mistake, some circumstances are riskier than others. Such as going up to a vicious person might be an
inherently costly mistake than avoiding a person who is actually safe to approach ( Haselton Buss,
2000).
A highly adapted system of perception might be more attuned to locating cues that would signify
danger, such as the facial intensity in locating hints of anger, in individuals who seem to possess the
capability in dealing out more harm as distinguished by their built, carrying armaments and other
details. Some might not even present any immediate risk, but overlooking an identifying cue that
could indicate the stranger being harmful is a costly mistake due to bodily harm being a possibility
than when seeing such cues where there are none.
Approach, on the other hand, is a tricky matter. And as such, people afford opportunities that are
positive. Failing in getting into contact with a person who presents a favorable opportunity, whether it
is related to providing social support or willing to share resources, may be costly as well but not
overly damaging. And as such, a tuned

Analysis Of The Quartering Act
As I am sure you are aware, my fellow Parliamentary members and myself passed the Quartering Act
earlier this year as the fourth and final act in the Coercive Acts or Intolerable Acts as they have
become to be known as. Surely you and the other colonists are upset by the strict regulations that we
have placed on your livelihood but you must know that they were necessary. Last December, the
Bostonian colonists participated in a grievous offense against their home nations when they dumped
342 chests of tea into the Boston Harbor. We have not ignored your recent rebellious attempts, but
have even tolerated them. We caused no fuss when we received strongly worded letters depicting your
displeasures, or when you issued trade boycotts, ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
If we cannot protect our trading galleys from harm while trading in Boston, why would we allow
trades to occur with that risk hanging over our head? Rebellion is upon us, and the way we best see fit
to keep everything under control is through regulation. This is the reason behind the Massachusetts
Government Act, not because we want revenge. The respectful and understanding members of
parliament allowed for self governing in the past, and it gained us those who have been elected to have
a tendency to obstruct, and, in great measure, defeat the execution of laws; to weaken and, in great
measure, defeat the execution of laws ( Massachusetts Government Act Original Text. ). The same
logic applies to the Administration of Justice Act, as they go hand in hand. If we cannot have faith that
self appointed leaders will be doing their due diligence by the laws of the crown, what would make us
believe that the due process would be conducted in a fair manner? We expect there to be turmoil due
to the new laws we have enacted. This is why we are in need of the Quartering Act of 1774. Soldiers
are now more necessary than ever in order to keep the peace, and they need places to live in the
colonies. The abandoned buildings, farms, or uninhabited buildings are of no use to you ( Intolerable
or Coercive Acts. ), why should you criticize our desire to house our soldiers instead of leaving

Moving To Atlanta
I grew up and spent most of my life living up north in Waldorf, Maryland, as my mother and step
father are employed by the U.S Military. They were stationed on Andrews Air Force Base for eight
years, but in 2006 they were both moved to Robins Air Force Base, in Warner Robins, Georgia.
During this time I moved to Atlanta to live with my dad for a year, before moving to Warner Robins to
live with my mom again. Upon arriving in the small city of Warner Robins, I noticed a big difference
in the population, social life, and education.
The city of Atlanta is full of people, and is growing by the numbers everyday. A lot of people move
here for schooling, a new career, cheaper living, and for the high city lifestyle. Whereas for Warner
Robins, ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The only problem I had with schooling was with the curriculum, as it was harder than any other school
I had previously attended, and staffed a lot of teachers who didn t care too much about the students
education. I felt that I wouldn t be properly prepared for college, and would instead be forced into
adjusting at a community college upon graduating. Warner Robins school system in contrast was
exceptional, as there were teacher s that cared about each students progression, and there were about
25 30 students in each class. The teacher s stuck to the curriculum for each class, and they believed by
the end of each students high school experience, they would be ready for college courses. I feel that
every student needs a school system like this, but I know that not all small cities are going to be like
this, and not all large cities are going to bad school system like Atlanta.
Living in a large city was a good experience for me and taught me a lot. You can meet a lot of
interesting people, and see a lot of amusing sites for fun, social outings. Every kid or person that

only bad experience coming from being enrolled in the DeKalb County School System. In the end, I

The Dysfunctional American Dream in Death of a Salesman by Arthur Miller
In the American society, it is thought that if you work hard, no matter what circumstances, you can
become rich and powerful. You can overcome deep poverty to become the richest man alive. This
superhuman absurdity is what is referred to as the American Dream. Day after day, Americans struggle
to achieve fame and prosperity, only to find failure and heartbreak. The American Dream in today s
society is dead and is proven several times through plays, poetry, and essays.
The perfect example of the dysfunctional American Dream is that of Willy Loman in Death of a

He goes to such extremes that he fools himself into a deep state of depression (Clurman, 133). The
Dream that Willy strives so badly to achieve is one filled with flaw upon flaw. First of all, he s
dreaming of all the wrong things. Biff says He had all the wrong dreams. All, all wrong, he never
knew who he was (Miller, 177). Willy is a man of confusion and distress (Clurman, 134). He should
be longing for things such as love and companionship rather than money (Garrison). Willy led a
meaningless life where his wife was a part of the problem rather than the solution. Her supposed
undying loyalty and love only fueled the fire rather than solve the problem (Garrison). In her
admiration of his dreams, it is lethal. (Garrison). In the essence of support, Linda is Willy s number
one fan, but to no prevail, she only feeds his lies. Another problem of Willy s dream is that he gives
himself too much credit. He continually goes on in the play about how he is well know in all of New
England as a great salesman (Miller, 121). But in actuality, he is a mediocre, aging has been. He puts
on a mask for the most detrimental person: himself. It is the lying to himself that kills Willy s soul. His
constant striving of a goal that a man of his nature just could never achieve is extremely harmful to his
sanity. Biff says, Pop! I m a dime a dozen, and so are you! Willy replies, I am not a dime a dozen!

Examples Of Archetype In The Odyssey
The character archetype, the creature of nightmare, is showcased numerous times between both
novels, The Odyssey and Twenty Thousand Leagues Under the Sea, respectively. Polyphemus, the
cyclops and giant son of Poseidon, which is featured in the ninth chapter of Homer s, The Odyessey,
and the giant squid, featured in the eighteenth chapter of Twenty Thousand Leagues Under the Sea,
are just two examples of the character archetype, the creature of nightmare.
In The Odyssey, Odysseus, who is the main protagonist of the novel, and his shipmates meet
Polyphemus after docking on the island of the cyclopes. Odysseus s curiosity wandered him and his

devastated South Florida turning its full forces on Miami Dade county. The aftermath of this hurricane
was completely unbelievable and devastating, being that it was the most high priced storm ever

everything was rebuilt, citizens of South Florida, would never forget Hurricane Andrew.

Brown V. Board Of Education Case Analysis
Brown v. Board of Education was a landscape changing court case that altered the public school
system forever. The ruling that separate educational facilities are inherently unequal, therefore, a
violation of the equal protection clause of the Fourteenth Amendment of the Constitution, ended racial
segregation in public schools (archives.gov). May 2014 was the 60th anniversary of this court
decision, and it is an important time to reflect on the effects that this ruling has had on our country.
According to research, black student achievement has greatly improved since the desegregation of
schools (Strauss, 2014). With the help of proper school supplies and conducive learning environments,
students of all races have been able to achieve higher academic goals. The results of this court case
extend beyond black students; Brown v. Board of Education opened the door for educational equality
for a great deal of other students. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Board of Education created the foundation for other court cases to desegregate schools on grounds
other than race. The Brown decision inspired advocates for children identified with disabilities to
pursue desegregation and other equality strategies (Minow, 2004). Thanks to Brown, students with
disabilities are able to attend schools with children their own age. While this case is over 60 years old,
America can still see and feel the influence of its verdict. Today, we have a diverse student population
within our public schools. However, more can still be achieved for equality in our society. The
struggle with racism and segregation are still very present in America; we see proof of their existence
in the news almost every day. The shootings in Charleston, SC and Ferguson, MO are evidence that
heinous crimes, which extend beyond education, are still committed in America based on race.
However, the removal of the Confederate flag and movements to end racially motivated crimes are

The Six Sigma And Tools
2.3. Six sigma and tools
The Six Sigma improvement method is problem focused and its main objectives are decreasing scrap,
earning income and creating value (Saghaei et al, 2012). Motorola developed this concept in 1986.
There were three meanings of six sigma provided by Brue (2006). It is the level of quality that a
process assures, it is a problem solving methodology and lastly it is a management philosophy.
Alternatively it is also said to be a project driven approach to process and product quality
improvement (Ray and Das, 2010). This approach ensures the process to be 99.9996% defect free. The
performance level of a project can be obtained by subtracting the average of readings of errors in a

Analysis Of Terence Hanbury White s The Once And Future King
Arthurian legend, with its round table, wizard, unfaithful queen, gallant knight, vengeful son, and well
intentioned king, has long been retold. While most authors employed the legend as a tapestry to depict
religious themes, The Once and Future King uniquely utilizes the tale to provide a political critique of
the author s modern day society. Terence Hanbury White embraced Malory s version by creating four
sequential books eventually published together under the title The Once and Future King. Shifting
away from the heavily Christian oriented tale, White uses the story of King Arthur as platform to
express his opinions on his own world during the mid 1900 s. Focusing on the increasingly divided,
violent attitudes of his generation, White imposes an alternative vision of the utility of war. As he
converges on and diverges from pacifistic sentiment, White s first book, The Sword and the Stone and
fourth book, The Candle in the Wind illustrate political critique of both old and new society. The
golden lines of The Sword in the Stone and The Candle in the Wind earn their status from the way
they encapsulate the predominant pacifistic theme through symbolism. When young Arthur lives
among geese, he notices sentries keeping watch, and confused of their purpose, he asks a goose by the
name of Lyo Lyok if they are preparing for war amongst their flock. The disgusted goose responds,
But what creature could be so low as to go about in bands, to murder others of its own blood?

Cache And Various Mapping Technique
Abstract This paper begins with the discussion about cache and various mapping technique. Then we
shift our focus on compressed caching which is the technique that tries to decrease paging request
from secondary storage. We know that there is a big performance gap in accessing the primary
memory (RAM) and secondary storage (Disk). The Compressed caching technique intercepts the
pages to be swapped out, compresses them and stores them in pool allocated in RAM. Hence it tries to
fill the performance gap by adding new level to virtual memory hierarchy. This paper analyze the
performance of virtual memory compression. Further to avoid various categories of cache misses we
discuss different types of cache technique to achieve higher performance. Lastly we discuss few open
and challenging issues faced in various cache optimization techniques.

Basically, cache is the smallest and fastest memory component in the hierarchy. It is aimed to bridge
the gap between the fastest processor to the slowest memory components at a reasonable cost. It
maintains the locality of information and support the reduction of average access time. The address
mapping converts physical address to the cache address. But when it comes to virtual memory
systems, swapping turns out to be the greatest factor for reduce in performance. Disk latency is around

The Bedside Shift Of Patient Participation
Abstract
Recognizing that patient participation is vital to their personal medical care, healthcare organizations
are conducting nursing staff shift reports at the bedside in the patient s presence. Bedside reports aim
to avoid communication failures by exchanging real time information at shift change. Bedside
reporting is a new alternative to the customary change of shift report that traditionally takes place in a
unit hallway or at the nurse s station. This provides an opportunity for questions before valuable
information is lost or overlooked. In this literature review of bedside shift reporting, three studies were
compared in order to show that a patient s perspective is valued as they can see and hear from the
team of professionals who are providing their care. Bedside shift report also improves the nurses
understanding of the patient s condition as the nurse is able to visualize the patient and share relevant
information.
Bedside Shift Report Literature Review
The bedside shift report occurs between the outgoing and oncoming nurse next to the patient s bedside
at shift change. It is intended to engage patients in the conversation and exchange of information. This
gives both nurses and the patient the opportunity to ask questions and verify important information
about the patient s history and care plan.
In a research article by Lamond (2000), the assistive role of the nursing shift report in information
processing and plan of care discussion was examined. This study

Fundamental to democracy in the United States is the continued protection of our civil liberties and
civil rights. Civil liberties concern basic rights and freedoms that are implicitly or explicitly stated
either in the Bill of Rights, Constitution or legislature. Civil rights refer to legal protections that guard
against unequal treatment based on race, gender, disability and it is under these protections everyone
should receive equal treatment under the law. Unfortunately, there are times when preservation of our
rights and liberties is threatened for a number of reasons sometimes even due to to national security or
patriotism. When it comes to wearing our rights the majority of examples that I could find involved
wearing an item of clothing with words on it, which is enacting our freedom of speech which is a civil
liberty covered under the first amendment. Usually when enacting this specific civil liberty we are
doing it with words that relate to some specific type of inequality or injustice based on the
infringement of our civil rights. Examples include race, gender or disability.

Art And Emotional Realism In The Hellenistic Era
The Hellenistic Era was a time of drastic evolution and change amongst the Classical Greek Era.
Alexander the Great made many conquests throughout Persia, Egypt, and the Mediterranean, which
created a fusion of multi ethnic cultures, resulting in the Hellenistic Era. This era turned the corner on
the Classical Era s concept of religion, art, and science. The influences of Egyptian, Persian, and
Mediterranean cultures in the Hellenistic era exposed the Greeks to unfamiliar ideas, resulting in a rise
private worship, individualized art, and concrete scientific facts. First, between the eras art
transformed from perfectionism in the Classical Era to a more emotional realism in the Hellenistic
Era. In the beginning, most statues were carved of stone. However, bronze and marble was later
introduced into the world of sculpting which grew in popularity amongst artists. Next, a prime
example of the influence of perfectionism during the Classical Era were sculptures mainly composed
of Gods and Goddesses. Hellenistic sculptures, on the other hand, focused on ways to show fluidity
that complemented how the body moved. Although each era exhibited different artistic styles, both
eras shared a common focus on human anatomy. In ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

Swot Analysis Of Fedex
The Federal Express (FedEx) was born as an idea for a college paper by Fredrick Smith in 1971. In
the paper, he suggested using air transportation to deliver urgent packages overnight since airports
tend to be not congested during that time of day, would make the transportation much faster and
economical. After acquiring a share in Arkansas Aviation Sales, Fred started his package delivery
business, which turned profitable by 1975 and saw a rapid growth to own 43% of the market by the
early 1990s. [1] United Parcel Service (UPS) started as a collaboration between the American

FedEx follows the The Purple Promise in which the company focusses on customer satisfaction and

know is based on learning from different people, or on our own. Rule books are not just zapped into

Chemistry of LSD and Route of Access Essay
Chemistry of LSD and Route of Access
Classification
Pharmacologically, the commonly abused hallucinogenic substances may be divided into two major
groups. The indolealkylamines, including d lysergic acid diethylamide (LSD), psilocybin, and
dimethyltryptamine (DMT) bear a structural resemblance to the neurotransmitter 5 hydroxytryptamine
(serotonin). The phenylethylamines, including mescaline and the phenylisopropylamines such as 2, 5

The plasma half life of LSD is 2 to 3 hrs. It is metabolized into nonhallucinogenic substances,
primarily by conjugation of the liver (Gelenberg, Bassuk, Schoonover 1991). Within the brain, the
highest levels of LSD are in the visual system, especially within a part called the lateral geniculate
nucleus, or LGN. LSD decreases the response of the LGN, which acts a visual relay center. The LGN
receives nerve impulses from the retina and sends them to the occipital cortex of the brain, an area
also known as the visual cortex. LSD acts to decrease the responsiveness of the LGN to signals from
the retina. How this effects the production of visual hallucinations is unclear
LSD is also concentrated highly in parts of the limbic system.
The limbic system is dedicated to regulating emotion, aggression, docility, and memory.
Also, LSD concentrates in areas of the reticular formation. The reticular formation mediates the level
of arousal and alertness in the brain. It begins in the medulla, and runs up through the brain stem into
the forebrain. The textbook authors call it the volume dial of consciousness (Strang, 2004).
Because of its extreme potency, only minuscule amounts can be detected in urine. Thus, conventional
urine screening tests are inadequate to detect LSD. When the use of LSD is suspected, urine is

School Subculture In School
A culture is created when a group comes together for a common reason. This reason can be anything
from beliefs, family roots, interest, and location to values, knowledge, or any other mutual ground.
Culture tends to be passed from generation to generation as children learn the expectations of family
and friends (Strouse, 2001). People can be a part of multiple cultures as they have different
connections to people throughout their life. Each school has a culture of its own, like a miniature
society. This is part of the school climate (Ballantine Hammack, 2012, p. 216). Within this
environment are many different subcultures that make up the various groups of people. In schools,
these groups are the students, teachers, parents, administration, staff, and community members.
The school environment constitutes a subculture within a large society. School becomes an
environment that offers students the opportunity to socially express their views toward the world and
socially connect with those who relate with their ideals. The students have a direct influence from
their social structure that mirrors their sociological experiences within their community. Ballantine
and Hammack state, The school culture reflects the immediate community in which the school is
located and its students characteristics (2012, p. 216). It s up to the schools to promote and reinforce
the moral, academic and ethical skills that society wants to impart on future generations.

James Baldwin s Remember This House By James Baldwin
James baldwin was an American novelist, essayist, playwright, poet, and social critic. His essays were
mostly of racial, sexual, and class distinctions in Western societies, mostly in mid 20th century
America. Some of Baldwin s essays are book length, for instance The Fire Next Time (1963), No
Name in the Street (1972), and The Devil Finds Work (1976). An unfinished manuscript, Remember
This House, was expanded upon and adapted for cinema as the Academy Award nominated
documentary film I Am Not Your Negro. Writer and playwright James Baldwin was born August 2,
1924, in Harlem, New York. One of the 20th century s greatest writers, Baldwin broke new literary
ground with the exploration of racial and social issues in his many works. He was especially well
known for his essays on the black experience in America.
Baldwin was born to a young single mother, Emma Jones, at Harlem Hospital. She reportedly never
told him the name of his biological father. Jones married a Baptist minister named David Baldwin
when James was about three years old. Despite their strained relationship, he followed in his
stepfather s footsteps who he always referred to as his father during his early teen years. He served as
a youth minister in a Harlem Pentecostal church from the ages of 14 to 16.
Baldwin developed a passion for reading at an early age, and demonstrated a gift for writing during
his school years. He attended DeWitt Clinton High School in the Bronx, where he worked on the

Ideology In Hamlet
Eshan Kemp Mrs. Yuen AP Literature Period 1
On Polonius and Class Ideology
The development of Polonius through his interactions with others serves as an aspect of Shakespeare s
Hamlet particularly suited for a Marxist analysis. While his pompous and long winded ramblings have
served as comic fodder for generations of readers, a Marxist reading reveals the insidious nature
behind the text s contempt for royal sycophancy. Polonius, who is of a lower class status than the royal
family, and who presumably lives during a feudal era which featured asymmetric distributions of
wealth and power privileging the royalty and their allies, most probably regales figures of the royal
family with circuitous servility to secure his survival as a member of a subordinate class. However, the
text portrays Polonius s incessantly pompous sycophantic tendencies as reflections of his, and in
extension the noble class s, inner character. Implicit in this portrayal is a classist ideology which
ascribes inherent characteristics to lower classes, using these traits to justify the differential treatment
of the classes.
Hamlet uses Polonius s initial interactions within a domestic setting and the royal court to establish
Polonius s character. When Polonius notarizes Reynaldo to spy on Laertes, Polonius lauds his method
with such rhetorical flourishes as wisdom and of reach and with windlasses and assays of bias, to
ensure that his grand scheme is not lost on Reynaldo (2.1.61 62). The text chooses to show Polonius
strutting such ornate rhetoric to commend himself, even when there is no one to impress beyond his
own servant, to illustrate how Polonius is by his very nature pompous. When Polonius subsequently
hears Ophelia relay her encounter with a deranged Hamlet, Polonius s first instinct is to go see the
king, rather than to comfort Ophelia beyond simply saying he s sorry (2.1.114). Polonius s primal
instinct to serve his lord reveals a servile disposition baked into his very being. These intrinsic
tendencies are hyperbolized through Polonius s interaction with the royal family. Upon entering the
court, Polonius immediately professes to hold my duty ... both to my God

Personal Reflection Of The Body
The ninth field exercise asked us to focus on the concept of bodies and how we present them to
society. I visited a Walmart and went to the personal care/hygiene section. While mapping the store, I
noticed that although the placement of most of the products made sense, the layout of the store was a

The personal care section seemed to into two categories: necessary health items and cosmetic items.
The first section I looked at was the health items. For the most part, they were all located near each
other. I noticed they had eye drops and contact solution next to each other, which are meant to correct

thought was an odd place to put them. These are used to help with foot and arch support. In the
opposite aisle there were baby shampoos and soaps, to aid in cleaning babies. The next aisle had
toothpaste and toothbrushes. A distinguishing characteristic of the toothpastes, were the adjectives that
accompanied them, such as whitening , protective , sensitive , and complete . Toothbrushes and
toothpastes are used to brush your teeth, in order to prevent cavities in your mouth. The deodorant

The Right To Freedom Of Freedom
The freedom of assembly and demonstration is pivotal to a democratic society due to the fact that
peaceful protest allows citizens to participate in democracy by being active in governmental affairs
through voicing their grievances and opinions in a peaceful manner. The right to freedom of assembly
guarantees the possibility of peaceful protest without government interference and allows those
protesting safety and security and also allows those protesting to make use of their right to freedom of
expression. The act of peaceful protest allows citizens to make their voices heard when they usually
would not be, for citizens to raise and draw attention to issues that concern them and to circumvent
traditional legal processes whilst putting pressure on the government so as to not allow them to
infringe upon their rights. This right allows those who are vulnerable and powerless to express their
concerns in the only way available to them in a way that was disallowed during the Apartheid era and
is therefore pivotal in the exercise of all other rights afforded to the citizens of South Africa in the
Constitution. The right to freedom of assembly only applies when this assembly is peaceful, without
weapons, destruction of property and violence and therefore internally regulates itself by limiting its
own scope. The act states that no participants of a gathering may have any dangerous weapon in their
possession; a dangerous weapon is defined as any object that is not a firearm but

The Category of Factor X
Malcolm X, an African American Muslim minster and human rights activist, once said We declare our
right on this earth to be a human being, to be respected as a human being, to be given the rights of a
human being in this society, on this earth, in this day, which we intend to bring into existence by any
means necessary. According to Malcolm X, everyone on the earth has a right to be called a human
being and fit into the category of a human being; no matter if they are young, old, disabled or
incompetent. Yet if we were to look back on our past and cannot seem to count how many times these
so called human beings have treated others who share the same characteristics of human beings as
lesser creatures. It becomes as if in order to have ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
On the other hand Factor X is saying that if we were to get rid of these secondary factorials, we would
be equal, however would it worth being equal by eliminating what makes us special. As we begin to
understand that Factor X is not perfect, we find that there will always be one group of people that
factor X seems to not include, which leads to the thinking are they not human beings that have their
own human rights. More importantly we then have to figure what is considered basic human rights
and how do we considered who gets them or at least who deserves their rights more in certain
situations. Figure 1. A simplify list of human rights created and accepted as an international issue after
the Second World War And for that simple reason are we going to say people who are disabled,
terminally ill or an unborn fetus does not have the right to be included in to factor X or the potential to
have human rights. The question then becomes how are we going to amend Factor X to include this
group of people without excluding another group by accidentally using their political/social rights or
characteristics in society to say that they are not competent enough to posses Factor X. Skin color,
looks , social class and wealth, gender, cultural background, and even one s natural talents are all
accidents of birth relegated to the class of nonessential characteristics (Fukuyama 186). If these so call
secondary characteristics were to be taken away, then

Robots Bias
The news is bias, don t believe in what the news says, they just tell you half of the true and they also
twist the real information. It is true that news just tell what is convenient for the community and they
also take some events as a fake new, there are different types of bias that we can explore, but no one
really says all the real new, but by reading and investigating, we can make a simple guess about what
really is happening. One of the biases that are very heard tell a lot about the development of
technology and share some information about how robots had been invented to be worrying because
they will replace humans. For example in the Article from the news The Republic , named The Year
the Robots Came for Our Jobs , inform that because the development of technology, in the future

R. Civ. P. 12(b)(6), a motion to dismiss is proper when the plaintiff fails to state a claim upon which

David, Michelangelo and Donatello.
During the renaissance Michelangelo had created many magnificent pieces of art, one of which is the
most well known pieces among the world; the sculpture of David. The Michelangelo sculpture of
David wasn t the only one created during its time, for Donatello had created one some years before
hand. Among the two sculptures, Michelangelo s has a more profound, fascinating, and exceptional
quality to it that contributed greatly to the Renaissance. The High Renaissance was a period denoting
the apogee of the visual arts in the Italian Renaissance during of which two artists were commissioned
to sculpt a very historical figure by the name of David who threw his heroism slaed a Goliath.

Michelangelo sculpted a David before the battle with Goliath, because this statue was a way to portray
a new light for the people of Florence. In this statue David is holding a fruit this represent a sense of
integrity and intellect a calmer way to look at things.
The similarities between the two David s are that both are nude, both portray strengths and each one
hold the contrapposto stance. The one of the differences between the two Davids is in the eyes
Michelangelo s David has very detailed eyes there looking forward as if to see with an open heart
what might be coming next the eyes seem almost embracing and intimidating. Michelangelo seems to
represents David in his prime In my opinion the best work of art came from Michelangelo because of
the amount of detail that was put into it.
They did show humanism in their work. Humanism was not a religion but more of a life philosophy.
They focused more on their accomplishments and skills rather than their position in society. They
were all men of accomplishment. Humanism is also used to refer to the style they used in their art.
Before them, most art appeared flat and two dimensional. With the influence of humanism, these
artists focused more on detail and bringing out the illusion of space, form, and dimension. They were
among the first to use perspective.
So to sum up, they showed humanism in their careers and their artwork.

The Lewis And His Influence On The Church Today
C.S. Lewis is one of the most profound and well known theologians of the twentieth century. His
writings and ideas have played an incredible influence on the Church today. Lewis served as a
professor at Oxford university as well as an army officer during the First World War (BBC).
Throughout his life, Lewis understood the importance of friendship through significant relationships
within his own life. His mother died when he was ten, which caused him to grow closer to his older
brother Warren. In college, Lewis connected particularly to a friend named Arthur Greeves over their
mutual love for Nordic mythology. As far as the relationships that Lewis held, he is best known for his
relations with the literary discussion group known as The ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Lewis describes friendship as being the forgotten love, because it is so different from the other loves.
This is because Philia is the least natural love meaning humans do not have a biological or instinctual
need for it. Most people lead perfectly fine lives without it. It is also considered forgotten because so
few experience it fully in our modern world. Friendships can often be uncomfortable because of the
level of vulnerability and self disclosure involved in them. They require as Lewis puts it, naked
personalities (Lewis 71). It may initially be disliked or untrusted by some who view friendship as a
threat. This is because friendship can lead to strengthened opinions and new ideas. Another reason as
to why few experience it is because some confuse it with homosexuality. Lewis addresses this point by
saying those that confuse friendship for homosexuality have never had a friend (61). Friendship and
the actions within it do not suggest homosexuality. It is the same actions with very different
implications that would suggest homosexuality. There are a lot of reasons as to why people do not
engage in philia love, but Lewis understands that true philia is incredibly beautiful. There are many
different types of friendship, Lewis argues, such as companionship and friendship among romantic
lovers. A true friend is found when individuals discover that they have in common some insight or
interest or taste which others do not share... [which

William Barrett Travis and the Impact of His Letter...
William Barret Travis a hero of the Texas revolution impacted the American people with his
meaningful letter requesting aid. Travis wrote a very inspirational letter addressed not only to the
people of Texas but also to all the Americans in the world. Which impacted the way American s view
patriotism and cherish their liberty and their beliefs. Travis was born in 1809, and died in battle
defending the fort known as the Alamo against overwhelming Mexican forces in 1836. He was the
oldest out of his 11 brothers and sisters. His parents were Mark Stallworth and Jemima Stallworth.
Travis officially became a lieutenant colonel in January 1836. On that same year the governor Henry

Travis drew out his sword and drew a line. For those who wanted to stay and defend the Alamo as
strong serving men had to cross the line. All 200 men crossed the line but one. The 200 men that chose
to stay at the Alamo was mainly because of the letter that Travis sent out for support and therefore, the
soldiers stayed and fought for liberty. A native of France that was a veteran of the Napoleonic wars
known as Louis Mosses Rose, the soldier did not see a reason for him to stay and die for something
Rose did not believe in. This soldier did not care for the letter that Travis sent out nor the liberty of
Texas; however, the letter did impact the soldiers. It motivated the soldiers to fight with passion. The
soldiers grew hope and patriotism, regardless that all 200 men were free to leave but yet staid at Travis
s side to fight for liberty. Even though Travis did not succeed due to the overwhelming number of
Santa Ana s army which Travis and the troops paid with their lives Travis s letter did however struck a
core in many of the volunteers and the US army, which Sam Houston led to victory over Santa Anna
in April 21 1836, in the Battle of San Jacinto. Travis s letter had a vast impact that shaped the destiny
of America and the world with the defeat of Santa Anna since the Republic of Texas

  • 2. Essay about the aztecs The Aztecs Introduction The tribe in which I will be researching is the Aztecs tribe. I plan to find out the answers to the questions below. 1. Where they lived? 2. Their religions? 3. What they ate? 4. Some of their beliefs? 5. What life was like? The Aztecs The Indian tribe I am studying is the Aztecs. I plan on answering questions such as what life was like, what they ate, how they dressed, what their religions were, and many other questions which I intended on finding out. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... A major part of an average Aztec man or woman entertaining area would be the game Tlachlli. This game would be played, and the results would affect how the future could be. They would play in a semi big stadium where a rubber ball would be hit with the Aztec players, as they would try to get it through a hole up on a wall. Goals were extremely rare, but if you did score, you would extremely famous throughout the empire. (Steele, 20 amp;21.) Priests said that the gods would play Tlachilli, the sky would be their court, and the sun would be their ball. The results of a game would tell the priest what would happen in the future. (Steele, 21 amp;25.) I found many interesting facts during this study, and the most interesting fact, which I found was one of the Aztecs ancient beliefs. The Aztecs said that where they would find an eagle on a cactus with a snake in its mouth, which is where they would build their city. (Stuart, 69.) They found a snake on a cactus with a eagle in its mouth and built their city on it. The city was named Tenochit. This tremendous city was their home, and in the center they had Pyramids where they would make their sacrifices for their gods. This city is now what makes the heart of the huge capital of Mexico, Mexico City. And the emblem in which the Aztecs had pictured of an eagle on a cactus with a snake in its mouth can now be found on the flag of Mexico. ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 3. A Research Study On School Psychology I have always pictured myself working with children, for as long as I can remember. Thus, for the proposed career group project (part 1), my group presented information on the child life specialist profession. However, after much thought, I have decided to change my emphasis from child life to child development and pursue a career as a school psychologist, once I graduate. School psychology is a wide ranging practice and health service provider concerned with offering an assortment of psychological diagnosis, assessments, and interventions, et cetera to all learners (i.e. children, youth and families) (American Psychological Association (APA), (2015). The educational requirements, as described by the National Association of School Psychologists (NASP), consists of the completion of a 60 graduate semester specialist level program in school psychology plus a 1200 hour internship, for a majority of states (2015). Therefore, upon receiving my bachelor s degree in child and family development, I plan to attend a graduate program that meets the NASP standards for approval, and as stated by the Bureau of Labor Statistics (2015), clinical, counseling, and school psychologists earn an annual median of $74,030. What Are the Personal Philosophy, Values, and Beliefs? I feel as if school psychology is a great fit for me. It will allow me to provide counseling and support for those students facing emotional distress and/or difficulties that may affect their academic performance. ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 4. Information Management And The Retail Industry Information Management and the Retail Industry The retail industry is ever changing and evolving. The more successful companies within the industry understand the need to use technology to their advantage. Information management is the process by which different types of data is collected, categorized, and stored (Turban, Volonino, Wood, Sipior, 2013, p. 32). A review of the collected data is done to ascertain the value of the contents and reports are generated based on that data (Turban, Volonino, Wood, Sipior). The Importance of Information Management in Retail The retail industry uses information management systems to make decisions on the brands they introduce to their stores as well as the best fashion designers they should collaborate with (Parekh, 2014). The data collected is invaluable in that it enabled the industry to make quick decisions based on what their customers want to purchase, and it gives those that use the technology, ideas as to upcoming trends. This is gives them the advantage over their competitors (Parekh). Prior to the use of information management, the industry made educated guesses at what their customers wanted. The more an item sold, the more they attempted to keep the item in stock. With information management, retailers are using real time, fact based to maintain pace with their competitors and meet the demands of their customers (Parekh). Information management is one of the heaviest users by the retail industry. Retailers ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 5. The Negative Effects Of Zero Earthquavity On Humans Zero gravity can be something fun to experience, but it can also have some bad effects on humans. Zero gravity or weightlessness happens when the effects of gravity are not experienced. Humans have been experiencing zero gravity since the year 1961 when Russian cosmonaut Yuri Gagarin became the first human to travel to space. Zero gravity has became something humans experience for fun. For example there is a company called Zero G and they they allow people to pay money to go up in a plane and experience zero gravity. Even though some people find Zero gravity as a experience of a lifetime, it can also have some bad effects on humans. The International Space Station is in constant freefall above Earth. It s forward motion is just about equal to the speed it falls to earth. This allows the astronauts inside to experience zero gravity. One function of The International Space Station is to test the long term effects that zero gravity has on the human body. It was a huge focus for the first one year long mission where astronauts were in zero gravity for one year straight. (space.com) NASA uses astronauts to determine the effects of zero gravity on humans. They send them to the International Space Station for long period at a time. Just recently Scott Kelly and Mikhail Kornienko were the first humans to spend one consecutive year in space. NASA used them to test the effects of zero gravity on humans. They used that information to help determine how humans would react to zero ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 6. Fantasy vs. Reality Fantasy vs. Reality Silently, my senses begin to abandon their rationale...who is to say then what is real? The world that we live in, the reality, which we are a part of, is small and thus limited. That is why, in his infinite capacity for potential improvement, man created fantasy. Fantasy is BIG! To a certain extent it is more imaginative, more exciting, and more fun. Fantasy is like a lake where man throws all his ideas and dreams, and then he dives on in from the springboard of imagination. So, jump in to the lake. Why not? Just make sure that when you jump in to the lake you know how to get back from where you came from. Because, no matter how big a fantasy is, to the point that it somehow changes our perception of what is ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... This is fantasy mixing itself with reality, that in the process, it is now becoming hard to determine whether that particular fantasy is still just a fantasy apart from reality or it is already mistaken to be reality itself. Soft trick of sun and shadow conjures the fruits and foliates into tall towers and halls, risen from the windy old streets. This would mean the sun playing tricks by producing shadows. Shadows are kind of a pointer to something, pointing to what is real and yet in itself is not real, just like the imagination. Just as the sun produces the shadow, the mind produces the imagination, wherein both the shadow and the imagination point to something that is real but again, in themselves alone are not real. And so, the sun playing tricks would mean conjuring or summoning the fruits and foliates, which refer to little bits of reality and transforming them into tall towers and halls, which in turn are pinpointing to grand and fantastical images. In other words, simple pieces of reality are then altered into majestic landscapes thus creating a fantasy. And to enhance the image more, the tall towers and halls are risen from the windy old streets. What do we usually find in windy old streets? We find dilapidated and out of date houses and structures and yet the image of tall towers and halls are found on those very streets. The very presence of tall towers and halls ... Case Study Of Calamondin CHAPTER 1 INTRODUCTION 1.1 Background of study Calamondin (Citrus Microcarpa) is widely grown in tropical and subtropical area including Taiwan, Philiphines, Indonesia and Malaysia and also a member of genus citrus. Calamondin (Citrus Microcarpa) juice has the mandarin like aroma in combination with a zesty taste of lime, and with hint of acidic astringent. In Malaysia, it has been commonly used as seasoning in food, as a flavouring agent in foods and drinks and also used as a food additive. • 9. Persuasive Essay About French Food I m craving for French food. Want to go get some? That s one phrase I ve never had to answer simply because no one brings that up. We don t go to French restaurants on a student budget because almost anything with the word French attached to it is a tad bit overpriced. When I think of enjoying French food, I think of men having to wear pressed suits and women donning their glamorous dresses and high heels, then they need to have powdered noses and carefully coiffed hair before being served food in very large plates but with tiny portions. It s a cuisine of the elite but for something so highly regarded it s ironic that French food isn t too much known compared to what people know of Italian food. To be honest I was a bit overwhelmed when we started learning about French food thinking that it would really be difficult to grasp, and the terms were so hard to pronounce, it was that one time that I realized a little too late that hors d oeuvres weren t even pronounced as horse devours. • 10. NCAA March Madness Regression Report In this project, many different statistics were used to try and predict the winners of the NCAA March Madness tournament. To do this, statistics were tested from the previous year to see if they moderately correlated to winning games. When a stat is moderately correlated, that means it relates to winning. Using a scatter plot, a graph that gives a visual of whether or not a stat is correlated, correlation coefficients were found for each stat. The correlation coefficient is a decimal that shows if a set of numbers is moderately correlated. After finding stats that were the closest to being moderately correlated, a metric was put together that used the best stats to determine which teams will win games. The stat that was the closest to being moderately correlated was the turnover ratio of the teams. Another stat that was almost moderately correlated was RPI, or Rating Percentage Index. This stat uses a team s win percentage, their opponents win percentage, and their opponents opponents win percentage to rank teams. Also, missed field goal percentage was a stat that was used. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... There is a catch, however. If any stat was strongly correlated, basketball games would already be decided before the game starts. The team with the highest strongly correlated stat would win every game, and there would be no point to the tournament. Strong correlations are an impossibility anyway, because the game of basketball has so many variables. Injuries, crowds, nervousness, and plain luck could make any team win a game, and these variables are unchartable. If one team has the best field goal percentage and the best RPI, but they get nervous, they could lose. Metrics can t count for nervousness. • 12. Criminal Investigation And The Crime Scene I am sure I am not the only one that thinks of the hit television show CSI when I hear of criminal investigations. What people probably don t know is that the people who work as investigators are not particularly pretty people with pencil skirts, expensive suits, and a full hair and makeup team; they are law enforcers that specialize in the science aspect of solving crimes. In 2009, Hekim stated that: Investigative police work is mostly about the recovery, analysis and interpretation of information about criminal offenses. Americans in the late 1700s were recruited from civilian life and it wasn t until the 1950s that a college education was preferred in the investigations department (O Connor, 2006, para. 3). The first major private detective agency of the nineteenth century was formed by Allan Pinkerton in 1819 1884 (Swanson et al., 2002, para 1). In my opinion, the biggest milestone for investigative work was the discovery of DNA. It has made the task of apprehending criminals exponentially easier and is virtually error free. How to become a Criminal Investigator There are different ways to become a criminal investigator: you can go to school and major in criminology or criminal science and get hired as a criminal investigator perhaps in a small town where prior experience is not required or you can take the most common avenue and become a police officer first. After becoming a sworn police officer, you can receive on the job training and attend specialized classes to become an investigator. Costco is a large wholesales retailer where low price is only a fraction of why they are so successful. Their profit margins, ethical standards, and happy employees all contribute to why Costco is a successful business with over 488 locations serving around 48 million cardholders in eight countries. Costco has an annual sale of over $50 billion due to the strategies they implemented to keep their workforce of 125,000 motivated. It is known across the world that Costco treat their employees well and in return the employees are highly motivated to work for Costco and make it a success. Costco is the top warehouse club and the fourth largest retailer in the United Sates. Costco started from a single store in Seattle in 1983 to become one of the largest multinational warehouses chain. The story of Costco begins with the exemplary leadership from the co founders, James Sinegal and Jeffrey Brotman. The cofounders launched Costco with the idea of having a high volume of inventory which they could sell for low cost. In order to provide their items at low cost and also pay their employees well to keep them motivated, Sinegal and Brotman concocted a brilliant idea. The idea was to use the warehouse as itself, meaning that concrete floors, fluorescent lights, and pallets of merchandise are all essential to keep price low and customer happy. Expanding understanding about young adults disengagement and decision making process is vital since a major shift in the youth vote will be sufficient to change an election outcome, especially when their support for the Greens are growing. • 15. Detecting Facial Cues and Body Language Expressions are very valuable, as they can prompt us regarding opportunities and threats in individuals and scenarios that we encounter. Happiness indicates an approachable person while anger signifies someone to stay away from. These two decisions are the most basic and simplest behavioral decisions. But sometimes, this decision does go wrong, since humans are after all humans. And along with the mistake, some circumstances are riskier than others. Such as going up to a vicious person might be an inherently costly mistake than avoiding a person who is actually safe to approach ( Haselton Buss, 2000). A highly adapted system of perception might be more attuned to locating cues that would signify danger, such as the facial intensity in locating hints of anger, in individuals who seem to possess the capability in dealing out more harm as distinguished by their built, carrying armaments and other details. Some might not even present any immediate risk, but overlooking an identifying cue that could indicate the stranger being harmful is a costly mistake due to bodily harm being a possibility than when seeing such cues where there are none. Approach, on the other hand, is a tricky matter. And as such, people afford opportunities that are positive. Last December, the Bostonian colonists participated in a grievous offense against their home nations when they dumped 342 chests of tea into the Boston Harbor. If we cannot protect our trading galleys from harm while trading in Boston, why would we allow trades to occur with that risk hanging over our head? Rebellion is upon us, and the way we best see fit to keep everything under control is through regulation. This is the reason behind the Massachusetts Government Act, not because we want revenge. The respectful and understanding members of parliament allowed for self governing in the past, and it gained us those who have been elected to have a tendency to obstruct, and, in great measure, defeat the execution of laws; to weaken and, in great measure, defeat the execution of laws ( Massachusetts Government Act Original Text. ). The same logic applies to the Administration of Justice Act, as they go hand in hand. If we cannot have faith that self appointed leaders will be doing their due diligence by the laws of the crown, what would make us believe that the due process would be conducted in a fair manner? We expect there to be turmoil due to the new laws we have enacted. This is why we are in need of the Quartering Act of 1774. Soldiers are now more necessary than ever in order to keep the peace, and they need places to live in the colonies. • 23. Analysis Of Terence Hanbury White s The Once And Future King Arthurian legend, with its round table, wizard, unfaithful queen, gallant knight, vengeful son, and well intentioned king, has long been retold. While most authors employed the legend as a tapestry to depict religious themes, The Once and Future King uniquely utilizes the tale to provide a political critique of the author s modern day society. Terence Hanbury White embraced Malory s version by creating four sequential books eventually published together under the title The Once and Future King. Shifting away from the heavily Christian oriented tale, White uses the story of King Arthur as platform to express his opinions on his own world during the mid 1900 s. Focusing on the increasingly divided, violent attitudes of his generation, White imposes an alternative vision of the utility of war. As he converges on and diverges from pacifistic sentiment, White s first book, The Sword and the Stone and fourth book, The Candle in the Wind illustrate political critique of both old and new society. The golden lines of The Sword in the Stone and The Candle in the Wind earn their status from the way they encapsulate the predominant pacifistic theme through symbolism. When young Arthur lives among geese, he notices sentries keeping watch, and confused of their purpose, he asks a goose by the name of Lyo Lyok if they are preparing for war amongst their flock. The disgusted goose responds, But what creature could be so low as to go about in bands, to murder others of its own blood? ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Then we shift our focus on compressed caching which is the technique that tries to decrease paging request from secondary storage. We know that there is a big performance gap in accessing the primary memory (RAM) and secondary storage (Disk). The Compressed caching technique intercepts the pages to be swapped out, compresses them and stores them in pool allocated in RAM. Hence it tries to fill the performance gap by adding new level to virtual memory hierarchy. This paper analyze the performance of virtual memory compression. Further to avoid various categories of cache misses we discuss different types of cache technique to achieve higher performance. Lastly we discuss few open and challenging issues faced in various cache optimization techniques. Keywords Cache mapping technique, Cache optimization, Virtual Memory, Zswap, Zbud , LZO, Frontwrap I. INTRODUCTION Basically, cache is the smallest and fastest memory component in the hierarchy. It is aimed to bridge the gap between the fastest processor to the slowest memory components at a reasonable cost. It maintains the locality of information and support the reduction of average access time. The address mapping converts physical address to the cache address. The Bedside Shift Of Patient Participation Abstract Recognizing that patient participation is vital to their personal medical care, healthcare organizations are conducting nursing staff shift reports at the bedside in the patient s presence. Bedside reports aim to avoid communication failures by exchanging real time information at shift change. Bedside reporting is a new alternative to the customary change of shift report that traditionally takes place in a unit hallway or at the nurse s station. This provides an opportunity for questions before valuable information is lost or overlooked. In this literature review of bedside shift reporting, three studies were compared in order to show that a patient s perspective is valued as they can see and hear from the team of professionals who are providing their care. Bedside shift report also improves the nurses understanding of the patient s condition as the nurse is able to visualize the patient and share relevant information. Bedside Shift Report Literature Review The bedside shift report occurs between the outgoing and oncoming nurse next to the patient s bedside at shift change. It is intended to engage patients in the conversation and exchange of information. This gives both nurses and the patient the opportunity to ask questions and verify important information about the patient s history and care plan. • 35. Chemistry of LSD and Route of Access Essay Chemistry of LSD and Route of Access Classification Pharmacologically, the commonly abused hallucinogenic substances may be divided into two major groups. The indolealkylamines, including d lysergic acid diethylamide (LSD), psilocybin, and dimethyltryptamine (DMT) bear a structural resemblance to the neurotransmitter 5 hydroxytryptamine (serotonin). The phenylethylamines, including mescaline and the phenylisopropylamines such as 2, 5 dimethoxy 4 methylamphetamine (DOM, STP ), are structurally related to dopamine, norepinephrine, and the amphetamines (Gelenberg, Bassuk, Schoonover 1991). The plasma half life of LSD is 2 to 3 hrs. It is metabolized into nonhallucinogenic substances, primarily by conjugation of the liver (Gelenberg, Bassuk, Schoonover 1991). Within the brain, the highest levels of LSD are in the visual system, especially within a part called the lateral geniculate nucleus, or LGN. LSD decreases the response of the LGN, which acts a visual relay center. The LGN receives nerve impulses from the retina and sends them to the occipital cortex of the brain, an area also known as the visual cortex. LSD acts to decrease the responsiveness of the LGN to signals from the retina. How this effects the production of visual hallucinations is unclear LSD is also concentrated highly in parts of the limbic system. The limbic system is dedicated to regulating emotion, aggression, docility, and memory. Also, LSD concentrates in areas of the reticular formation. The reticular formation mediates the level of arousal and alertness in the brain. It begins in the medulla, and runs up through the brain stem into the forebrain. The textbook authors call it the volume dial of consciousness (Strang, 2004). Because of its extreme potency, only minuscule amounts can be detected in urine. Thus, conventional urine screening tests are inadequate to detect LSD. When the use of LSD is suspected, urine is ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 36. School Subculture In School A culture is created when a group comes together for a common reason. This reason can be anything from beliefs, family roots, interest, and location to values, knowledge, or any other mutual ground. Culture tends to be passed from generation to generation as children learn the expectations of family and friends (Strouse, 2001). People can be a part of multiple cultures as they have different connections to people throughout their life. Each school has a culture of its own, like a miniature society. This is part of the school climate (Ballantine Hammack, 2012, p. 216). Within this environment are many different subcultures that make up the various groups of people. In schools, these groups are the students, teachers, parents, administration, staff, and community members. The school environment constitutes a subculture within a large society. School becomes an environment that offers students the opportunity to socially express their views toward the world and socially connect with those who relate with their ideals. The students have a direct influence from their social structure that mirrors their sociological experiences within their community. Ballantine and Hammack state, The school culture reflects the immediate community in which the school is located and its students characteristics (2012, p. 216). • 37. James Baldwin s Remember This House By James Baldwin James baldwin was an American novelist, essayist, playwright, poet, and social critic. His essays were mostly of racial, sexual, and class distinctions in Western societies, mostly in mid 20th century America. Some of Baldwin s essays are book length, for instance The Fire Next Time (1963), No Name in the Street (1972), and The Devil Finds Work (1976). An unfinished manuscript, Remember This House, was expanded upon and adapted for cinema as the Academy Award nominated documentary film I Am Not Your Negro. Writer and playwright James Baldwin was born August 2, 1924, in Harlem, New York. One of the 20th century s greatest writers, Baldwin broke new literary ground with the exploration of racial and social issues in his many works. He was especially well known for his essays on the black experience in America. Baldwin was born to a young single mother, Emma Jones, at Harlem Hospital. She reportedly never told him the name of his biological father. Jones married a Baptist minister named David Baldwin when James was about three years old. Despite their strained relationship, he followed in his stepfather s footsteps who he always referred to as his father during his early teen years. He served as a youth minister in a Harlem Pentecostal church from the ages of 14 to 16. Baldwin developed a passion for reading at an early age, and demonstrated a gift for writing during his school years. • 38. Ideology In Hamlet Eshan Kemp Mrs. Yuen AP Literature Period 1 On Polonius and Class Ideology The development of Polonius through his interactions with others serves as an aspect of Shakespeare s Hamlet particularly suited for a Marxist analysis. While his pompous and long winded ramblings have served as comic fodder for generations of readers, a Marxist reading reveals the insidious nature behind the text s contempt for royal sycophancy. Polonius, who is of a lower class status than the royal family, and who presumably lives during a feudal era which featured asymmetric distributions of wealth and power privileging the royalty and their allies, most probably regales figures of the royal family with circuitous servility to secure his survival as a member of a subordinate class. However, the text portrays Polonius s incessantly pompous sycophantic tendencies as reflections of his, and in extension the noble class s, inner character. Implicit in this portrayal is a classist ideology which ascribes inherent characteristics to lower classes, using these traits to justify the differential treatment of the classes. Hamlet uses Polonius s initial interactions within a domestic setting and the royal court to establish Polonius s character. When Polonius notarizes Reynaldo to spy on Laertes, Polonius lauds his method with such rhetorical flourishes as wisdom and of reach and with windlasses and assays of bias, to ensure that his grand scheme is not lost on Reynaldo (2.1.61 62). The text chooses to show Polonius strutting such ornate rhetoric to commend himself, even when there is no one to impress beyond his own servant, to illustrate how Polonius is by his very nature pompous. When Polonius subsequently hears Ophelia relay her encounter with a deranged Hamlet, Polonius s first instinct is to go see the king, rather than to comfort Ophelia beyond simply saying he s sorry (2.1.114). Polonius s primal instinct to serve his lord reveals a servile disposition baked into his very being. These intrinsic tendencies are hyperbolized through Polonius s interaction with the royal family. Upon entering the court, Polonius immediately professes to hold my duty ... both to my God ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 39. Personal Reflection Of The Body The ninth field exercise asked us to focus on the concept of bodies and how we present them to society. I visited a Walmart and went to the personal care/hygiene section. While mapping the store, I noticed that although the placement of most of the products made sense, the layout of the store was a little strange. The first rows of makeup were at a strange angle, but the next couple of rows were parallel to the rest of the rows in the store. I could not tell why they were angled that way, as it seemed like it was just wasting space. The personal care section seemed to into two categories: necessary health items and cosmetic items. The first section I looked at was the health items. For the most part, they were all located near each other. I noticed they had eye drops and contact solution next to each other, which are meant to correct vision and dryness issues in the eyes. They also had foot gel inserts at the end of the aisle, which I thought was an odd place to put them. These are used to help with foot and arch support. In the opposite aisle there were baby shampoos and soaps, to aid in cleaning babies. The next aisle had toothpaste and toothbrushes. A distinguishing characteristic of the toothpastes, were the adjectives that accompanied them, such as whitening , protective , sensitive , and complete . • 40. The Right To Freedom Of Freedom The freedom of assembly and demonstration is pivotal to a democratic society due to the fact that peaceful protest allows citizens to participate in democracy by being active in governmental affairs through voicing their grievances and opinions in a peaceful manner. The right to freedom of assembly guarantees the possibility of peaceful protest without government interference and allows those protesting safety and security and also allows those protesting to make use of their right to freedom of expression. The act of peaceful protest allows citizens to make their voices heard when they usually would not be, for citizens to raise and draw attention to issues that concern them and to circumvent traditional legal processes whilst putting pressure on the government so as to not allow them to infringe upon their rights. This right allows those who are vulnerable and powerless to express their concerns in the only way available to them in a way that was disallowed during the Apartheid era and is therefore pivotal in the exercise of all other rights afforded to the citizens of South Africa in the Constitution. The right to freedom of assembly only applies when this assembly is peaceful, without weapons, destruction of property and violence and therefore internally regulates itself by limiting its own scope. The act states that no participants of a gathering may have any dangerous weapon in their possession; a dangerous weapon is defined as any object that is not a firearm but ... As we begin to understand that Factor X is not perfect, we find that there will always be one group of people that factor X seems to not include, which leads to the thinking are they not human beings that have their own human rights. More importantly we then have to figure what is considered basic human rights and how do we considered who gets them or at least who deserves their rights more in certain situations. Figure 1. A simplify list of human rights created and accepted as an international issue after the Second World War And for that simple reason are we going to say people who are disabled, terminally ill or an unborn fetus does not have the right to be included in to factor X or the potential to have human rights. They did show humanism in their work. Humanism was not a religion but more of a life philosophy. They focused more on their accomplishments and skills rather than their position in society. They were all men of accomplishment. Humanism is also used to refer to the style they used in their art. Before them, most art appeared flat and two dimensional. With the influence of humanism, these artists focused more on detail and bringing out the illusion of space, form, and dimension. They were among the first to use perspective. Throughout his life, Lewis understood the importance of friendship through significant relationships within his own life. His mother died when he was ten, which caused him to grow closer to his older brother Warren. Lewis describes friendship as being the forgotten love, because it is so different from the other loves. This is because Philia is the least natural love meaning humans do not have a biological or instinctual need for it. Most people lead perfectly fine lives without it. It is also considered forgotten because so few experience it fully in our modern world. Friendships can often be uncomfortable because of the level of vulnerability and self disclosure involved in them. They require as Lewis puts it, naked personalities (Lewis 71). It may initially be disliked or untrusted by some who view friendship as a threat. This is because friendship can lead to strengthened opinions and new ideas. Another reason as to why few experience it is because some confuse it with homosexuality. Lewis addresses this point by saying those that confuse friendship for homosexuality have never had a friend (61). Friendship and the actions within it do not suggest homosexuality. It is the same actions with very different implications that would suggest homosexuality. There are a lot of reasons as to why people do not engage in philia love, but Lewis understands that true philia is incredibly beautiful.
