A Statistical Physics Model ( Or Soal )
A Statistical Physics Model ( or SOAL Stochastically Oriented Asymmetric Localization) for Axon
Outgrowth Patterning Normally, at the leading edge, the molecular mechanism produces axon
outgrowth activity and moves plasma membrane extension of HSN cell body in the ventral direction
(Adler et al., 2006). However, in mutants, the different directions of axon outgrowth from the HSN
cell body scored to create a probability distribution for axon outgrowth activity directions, diffusion
and displacement (Tang and Wadsworth, 2014). Therefore, the axon outgrowth pattering is altering.
Previous study reported that the extracellular guidance cues, including UNC 6/Netrin and its receptor
have role in determining the axon outgrowth ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Using the probability distribution, we compared the probabilities in wild type and mutants. For
example, UNC 6/Netrin extracellular guidance cues can decreases or increase the probability of UNC
40 activity at each side of the neuron. Thus, this probability is directed as a stochastic process. In more
evidence, the probability of axon outgrowth activity in ventral direction is decreased, whereas the
probability of axon outgrowth in other directions is increased in mutants (Xu et al., 2009; Kulkarni et
al, 2013; Yang et al., 2014; Tang and Wadsworth, 2014). Therefore, the guidance cues control the
direction of movement fluctuates over time. We report that this probabilities can cause different
regions of the neurons plasma membrane to move in different directions. Thus the axon outgrowth
extension morphology is abnormal and cause new axon outgrowth patterning. Genetic evidence
indicates that UNC 40/DCC, a central regulator of polarization in multicellular animals (Ziel and
Sherwood, 2010), mediates several signals that regulates the polarization and orientation in response
to UNC 6/Netrin. UNC 40::GFP clusters randomly along the cell surface in response to polarization
signal whereas the orientation signal causes the UNC 40::GFP cluster toward specific direction (Xu et
al., 2009; Kulkarni et al., 2013; Tang and Wadsworth, 2014). Consisting with a random walk, we
hypothesize that random walk used to

Gender Roles And Social Norms
The media is currently largely responsible in creating and reminding people of the existence of gender
roles and social norms, which consequently influences children. Aside from media, parents are the
most responsible in the upbringing of their child. That being said, parents can choose to control what
they teach their child and steer them away from the societal norms of certain gender roles, but they
don t have control over the media s content. Sometimes, parents can t help if they give their daughter a
Barbie doll and their son a Batman action figure, because they don t realize it and they themselves
were raised to understand that girls are supposed to like this and do that and boys are supposed to like
that and do this. It s all a chain ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
When it comes to advertisements promoting certain toys and products to children, companies are not
afraid to advertise gender targeted products, because they know children are vulnerable. A 2017 study
report titled Gendered Advertising to Children: An Analysis of Differences in Male and Female
Targeted Television Commercials written by Meredith Ford mentioned that, When children realize that
the toys they see advertised are only meant for one gender, they latch on to that group of children and
do not socialize with the other gender. This sets a detrimental precedent for child development and
socialization skills. When children are exposed to media at a young age, their brains first start to
develop and they learn to adapt to their environment. As soon as the child is fully developed, however,
there is no way of causing them to forget what they learned or were surrounded with whether it was
something good or bad. Additionally, and interestingly, children are capable without even realizing
that they are pushing themselves away from the other gender because they were vulnerable to learn
from the media that their gender is only supposed to like what they are advertising and not the other
genders products. Sure they may come to the realization that some of the

jumped together holding hands as if they were meant to be together at that particular moment, and
Desperation Force a Horrific Decision by Dennis Cauchon and Martha Moore is a newspaper article
that describes the event of 9/11 in a more professional way giving more details about the event
focusing on the jumpers in general and what made them make the decision of jumping from the
buildings. These literary works talk about the same event, they share elements as setting, the use of
witness account, and tone but the authors tell the event in different ways. Even though their works
have the same setting, they have differences like how the authors tell their witnesses testimonies or ...

In Desperation Forced a Horrific Decision the authors focused the setting on a broader view of the
situation, not focusing on specific victims but giving details such as when the attack started or when
the first victim jumped. They give specific numbers and facts to gain credibility because as a
newspaper they have to have some sort of credibility to get to the audience. The authors set the
scenario on a more analytic so the audience can imagine how the event occurs with a more objective
point of view, as the authors claim in their work: the jumping started shortly after the first jet hit at

Jackson Pollock Essay
The dominant figure that steered the course of the Abstract Expressionist movement was the infamous
painter Jackson Pollock. He was born Paul Jackson Pollock in Cody, Wyoming on January 28, 1912.
He was the fifth and youngest son and grew up in Arizona and California after his family left him
when he was a little over one year old. Pollock s artistic journey began at the Manual Arts School in
Los Angeles, California where he joined two of his brothers. From there, he went on to New York to
attend the Art Students League after being convinced by one of his brothers whom also attended the
school. Before moving into his own innovative style, Pollock would have to learn the formal rules of
art, as every accomplished artist does. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
In 1939, Jackson Pollock entered psychotherapy for his alcoholism. For him, the doctors saw that
producing artwork could serve as a means of therapy for his problem with alcohol. His alcoholism
would later come back to haunt him and his works in later years and become the cause of his ultimate
demise. Pollock began doing all of his works in a completely abstract manner in the mid 1940s. But,
after 1947 is when Pollock s most recognizable abstract works would be produced. This is when he
began placing large canvases on the floor and creating his famous abstract works. On these large
canvases, he started to use his drip technique, which was first shown to him by Siqueiro. These drip
paintings were first shown in 1948. They are said to reflect both ecstasy and anxiety. After they were
introduced to the world, a critic actually characterized Pollock as Jack the Dripper . These works
captivated and scared his future wife, Lee Krasner, a painter herself. His personal technique in gesture
and action painting was applied as directly as possible. Pollock said that through this active process,
he could literally be in the painting . This describes the term coined action painting . He also said,
When I am in my painting, I m not aware of what I m doing. It is only after a sort of ‘get acquainted

Piaget s Cognitive Theory Of Child Development
Throughout time, various theoretical perspectives have been analyzed and applied to the study of child
development, each focusing on different stages of learning and growth. Teachers, educators and those
caring for young children resort to these theories in order to develop informed and developmentally
appropriate practices. In this paper, I will focus on Piaget s Cognitive Theory of development and how
this theory plays a role in the field of early childhood education. Jean Piaget was the first major
cognitive theorist, emerging in the field of psychology during the second half of the twentieth century.
He was born in August 9, 1896, in Neuchâtel, Switzerland (Smith). His academic training was in
biology, but he also had an interest in epistemology, the ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
According to Robert J, MacKenzie, children learn concretely, meaning that although children
understand language and are able to communicate with words, actions actually define the rules
teachers try to practice. For example, when a preschooler is asked to put toys away slowly rather than
throwing them, it may be necessary for a teacher or educator to work with the child hand over hand to
show how to do it (29). Clearly, what children experience with their senses, such as what the see, feel,
hear and touch, determines how they think the world around them really is. In all in this paper I briefly
explained Piaget s Cognitive Theory of development. I explored the four different stages of
development that describe how individuals way of thinking changes over time. This theory, along with
many others not discussed in this paper, play an important role in the field of child development. All
of the different theoretical perspectives include different aspects of human development necessary to
provide appropriate developmental practices in educating young children and

Symptoms And Treatment Of Shock
Shock is a life threatening condition with a variety of underlying causes. Shock is caused when the
cells have a lack of adequate blood supply and are deprived of oxygen and nutrients. In cases of
shock, blood is shunted from peripheral areas of the body to the vital organs. Hemorrhage and
decreased blood volume are associated with some, but not all, types of shock.

Feedback:
As sepsis progresses, tissues become less perfused and acidotic, compensation begins to fail, and the
patient begins to show organ dysfunction. The cardiovascular system also begins to fail, the blood
pressure does not respond to fluid resuscitation and vasoactive agents, and signs of end organ damage
are evident (e.g., renal failure, pulmonary failure, hepatic failure). As sepsis progresses to septic
shock, the blood pressure drops, and the skin becomes cool, pale, and mottled. Temperature may be
normal or below normal. Heart and respiratory rates remain rapid. Urine production ceases, and
multiple organ dysfunction progressing to death occurs. Adventitious lung sounds occur throughout
the lung fields, not just in the upper fields of the lungs.

Historical And Contemporary Situation Of Torres Strait...
I aim to focus on the historical and contemporary situation of Torres Strait Islander and how the
Edward Koiki Mabo (Eddie Mabo) decision has affected them.
History Background
Edward Koiki Mabo (Eddie Mabo) is the Australian Man born in 1936 from Torres Strait Islander
campaigning for Indigenous land rights. His decision for land rights was the legal decision. In 1981,
Mabo gave first speech at the land rights conference at the James Cook University explaining the
traditional land ownership and inheritance system that his community followed on Mer Island. The
lawyer in the conference noted the significance of Mabo s speech and gave a suggestion there should
be a test case to claim land rights through the court system. The case was heard for ten years,
progressing from the Queensland Supreme Court to the high court of Australia. The choice of high
court judgment in the Mabo case came about a clearing the myth of tera nullins and setting up a
legitimate structure for native title by indigenous Australian. People recognize that Indigenous
Australian have a prior claim to land taken by the British Crown since 1770. They were only land such
as vacant crown land, national parks and possibly some leased land, where the lease is subjected to the
Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people. It is important because it was the turning point for the
recognition of Aboriginal and People right which acknowledge their unique connection with land. The
judgments of the High Court inserted

Wouter Kellerman Characteristics
1. INTRODUCTION
Wouter Kellerman, a South African flautist, has made an impact in the music world, specifically that
of world music . Developing his own unique cross over style, Kellerman has gained both national and
international fame as indicated by winning a number of prestigious awards and performing at several
prominent national and international events, in addition to concert tours. Furthermore, Kellerman has
released a number of recorded albums, which have been distributed around the world and have
received critical acclaim. However, one of the most notable characteristics of Kellerman is his status
as a cross over engineer musician something which significantly influenced the course of his life and
career.
2. LIFE
2.1 Childhood
Wouter Kellerman grew up in Johannesburg, South Africa. Growing up, only classical music was
played in the house, as his parents enjoyed it, thus exposing him to Western art music and enabling
him to develop a love for this genre of music. His love for African music also developed during this
time. When his mother went to work, Kellerman was looked after by a woman who constantly played
African music, thus exposing him to these musical influences from an early age. Additionally,
Kellerman would continually listen to the radio, exposing him ... Show more content on

Kellerman s change between careers is not a unique occurrence yet remains one of otherness as the
majority of musicians are only, and have ever been, musicians. Indeed, Kellerman s cross over status
could be related to alterity as found in class (Beard Gloag 2010: 8 9), as, in today s society, engineers
are often viewed as having a higher status than that of musicians, specifically those who perform art

Humans Have The Highest Iq
Humans have the highest IQ; but animals have vastly more commonsense. How so? Let s consider
various settings, starting with one we all share time and space.
TIME SPACE
Wake Up: Animals will wake up when their biological clocks tell them it s time to wake up. Humans
wake up when the alarm clock rings!
Going to Sleep: Animals go to sleep when their biological clocks tell them to go to sleep (including
catnaps). Humans go to sleep after their favourite TV program finishes, like the late, late show!
Humans push the boundaries and often refuse to rest even when their bodies tell them it s desirable.
An afternoon catnap ultimately increases productivity, but how many workplaces encourage napping
(even briefly) on the job?

sometimes for economic (investment) reasons; often for sheer power for the sake of power. Humans
are rarely satisfied with what they control they always want more and More and MORE. [See also:
Domination]
MATTER ENERGY
Possessions: Animals have no urge to acquire things, other than that required for survival (like
building a nest or storing away food for the winter). Humans well, what s the expression, keeping up
with the Jones family or shop till you drop !
FILL WHAT S EMPTY
Eating #1: Wild animals, who don t know when and where their next meal might come from, will
make hay while the sun shines. Humans, even when they know where and when their next meal comes
from, will still over indulge, especially on certain festive or special occasions. [See also: Obesity]
Eating #2: An animal, assuming food is available, will eat when it is hungry a natural state of affairs.
A human will eat according to a schedule, at fixed times, when the dining room is open, when the
office clock and the boss says go to lunch now , regardless of need an artificial (phoney) state of
affairs.

Technology is the crucial factor for education sector to maintain all the data and information more
effectively and efficiently. Increasing dependence on the technology is adjusting student teacher
cooperation with the progression of time (Candace, 2004). Nowadays, people use computers and
internet for learning different programs. Internet helps students to find their own answers without the
help of the teachers. Information technology like internet is increasing the opportunities to learn new
things more easily and quickly. There are various online libraries that help the students and teachers
with reading materials. Students can also post their work online for the teachers to read and grade. For
instances: Westcliff university is using GAP (online system) where the student can see the question

Role Of Stephen King s Stories
The Role of Stephen King s Stories in Modern American Literature Stephen King is one of the most
prolific writers of this century. He has written a number of short stories and novels many of which
have been turned into movies. One of the reasons that King s works are popular with readers is due to
the fact that his stories give the reader something outside of the formulaic formula that many books
are inclined to follow or endings that are predictable and derivative. King also made his foray into
horror in the 1970 s when the genre was kind of lackluster. King offered the reader something
different in that he did not shy away from the gore, gratuitous violence or cheap shocks. One of the
reasons that King s works have so much power when it comes to the imagination is because he
himself is a horror aficionado, who writes according to his worldview. Readers can also see the
influence that Classic literature has had on the works of King. Just as the works of the Ancient Greeks
and later Shakespeare focused on certain themes, such as man versus nature, good versus evil or love
versus hate, so do the works of King. However, in his works King tends to twist the traditional plot of
Shakespeare and the Classic by having his characters go from hero to villain or showing the loss of
man s honor or humanity in the wake of horror. One of the things seen often times in his writing is the
alienation of both the individual and of society. Publication of Mile 81 Mile 81 was

Indirect Causes Of Biodiversity Conservation
The government using large scale efforts to conserve biodiversity or ecosystem services most
effectively complement bottom up conservation efforts led by local communities because they give
more research answers to them. Government ran records of biodiversity conservation attempts help
bottom up attempts not only because they provide more information, they provide ideas on how to fix
the problem, and they usually help. Biodiversity loss is caused by local, global, and regional factors,
so this problem should be brought to all of their attention. Responses designed to address biodiversity
loss will not be sufficient unless relevant direct and indirect drivers of change are brought to attention.
Some causes of biodiversity loss are localized, such as overexploitation. Others are global, such as
climate change, while a lot operate at a different variety of scales, such as the local impacts of invasive
species through global trade. Most of the responses named here were designed to address the direct
causes of biodiversity loss. However, these causes are better seen as symptoms of the indirect causes,
such as unsustainable patterns of consumption, demographic change, and globalization.
Biodiversity analysis is used for assessing the Earth s living state. Biodiversity preservation is
currently a priority of the states development. The states role in this area is figured out by by assessing
the biosphere s functions and ecosystem services provided by ecosystems.

Biography of Andy Whorl
Andy Whorl Andy Whorl was a popular American print artist in the 1960. He helped create the style
of art known as Pop Art. Pop Art showed what was popular in American culture; products, celebrities,
etc. Andy Whorl s career started out as a commercial artist. Some of his fellow artists admired him and
his work, while other did not consider him a true artist. He displayed some of his work in museums
and became famous. A friend of Andy told him to make art based on everyday things, so Andy made
his famous picture of the multiple Campbell s soup cans. Whorl used mass production to make some
of his artwork like the Ten Lizes featuring Elizabeth Taylor. His mass production method involved silk
screening. Before he could make the silk screen products, he had to have the images enlarged several
times. The method of silk screening and mass production allowed Andy Whorl to have a team create
his work instead of himself slaving away on his work. His team worked out of his studio in New York
City. His studio, which he called The Factory , had three locations throughout New York City. Andy
Whorl used consumerism in his art. He made prints of pictures of famous people like Marilyn Monroe
and Elizabeth Taylor. Some of his artwork has sublime tones of death. For instance his obsession with
Elizabeth Taylor started when her husband died. He also started his artwork of Marilyn Monroe after
her death. His inspiration for his Jackie Kennedy series was the assassination of her husband,

The acidic ground water was necessary due to the fact that pure water could not dissolve the limestone
and marble. The acidic ground water absorbed some carbon dioxide from the air and the decaying
vegetation located in the soil and formulated carbonic acid. The carbonic acid was able to dissolve out
cavities (3) in the bedrock and when the level of the water dropped, the passageways were ready for
the next step of the development of caves. There is water that seeps into the cave at a slower rate. The
acid is weak but it is able to dissolve the bedrock above the cave and is able to redeposit the minerals,
which in this case is calcite, on the floors, ceilings, and walls of the Lehman Caves in the form of cave

Moon Landing Hoax
Moon Landing
Was the Moon landing real or a hoax? The moon landing was a major scientific breakthrough and a
great day for America. The problem is, it might ve been faked. There are many pieces of evidence
showing that it could have been faked but there is also evidence showing that the moon landing could
have also been real. I believe that the moon landing was not a hoax. The flag was blowing in the wind
but how was it supposed to stop if there is no friction on the moon? The astronauts shadows don t
match the lunar light source because there was a matte box on the camera . That there were absolutely
no stars in the sky because the pictures were taken during the day.

The Major Effects Of Concussions In The NFL

Concussions in the NFL
Has the NFL done enough to help prevent concussions? That is the question that many people are
asking, including people who are currently in the NFL. The NFL has been in a bit of controversy over
the past couple of years due to players and doctors coming forward and talking about concussions
caused by playing football which can lead to longer and more extreme damage to the brain. The NFL
has been in a well known lawsuit from former players. The players are suing because of receiving
concussions while playing football and not being given proper treatment. The NFL has had to make
new rules and introduce a stricter policy when dealing with concussions. Advances in technology have
made it possible for people to be able to research and understand what caused the concussion and how
to prevent it. The NFL is now trying to come up with new ways to prevent concussions from
happening. Concussions can be limited in the NFL.
One of the problems of the NFL not dealing as well with concussions is the fact that not many people
used to know of the major effects that a concussion can have on the human brain. A concussion is a
type of traumatic brain injury caused by a blow to the head (NFL Concussions). Common symptoms
of concussions are: imbalance, headache, confusion, memory loss, loss of consciousness, vision
change, hearing change, mood change, fatigue, malaise (NFL Concussions). After suffering repeated

Social Attitudes In The Great Gatsby
I felt a haunting loneliness sometimes, and felt it in others young clerks in the dusk, wasting the most
poignant moments of night and life (Fitzgerald, p.xx). This is the feeling one might feel in their lives
no matter how much money they have. F. Scott Fitzgerald wrote The Great Gatsby to portray the
different social attitudes within the upper class. F. Scott Fitzgerald was born Francis Scott Key
Fitzgerald on September 24, 1896 in St. Paul, Minnesota. He was 29 years old when The Great Gatsby
was published on April 10, 1925. In The Great Gatsby, Fitzgerald sheds light on the different
personalities between the aged rich families and the modern rich families. An example of the
sophistication of Gatsby are the elaborate parties he throws for the people he invites, while on the
other hand, Tom and Daisy have a simple dinner with only a few people over. The emptiness one
might feel at any time in their life cannot be fulfilled with money but only with other friends
surrounding one. Gatsby is characterized as a very elaborate man sophisticated in his ways. He is
always seen throwing extravagant parties with only the best of the best belongings in his home. One
week ends his Rolls Royce became an omnibus, bearing parties to and from the city between nine in
the morning and long past midnight, while his station wagon scampered like a brisk yellow bug to
meet all trains. ( Melville, p.39). Nick explains the bizarre lifestyle that Gatsby had with all his parties.
Although, throughout Gatsby s life, the reader is able to see the emptiness he feels without Daisy. I,m
just going to wait here and see if he tries to bother her about that unpleasantness this afternoon. She s
locked herself into her room, and if he tries any brutality she s going to turn the light out and on again.
(Melville, p.144). Here, the reader recognizes the love Gatsby has for daisy. He is willing to wait all
night in order to be sure of her protection. Gatsby has called off all of his parties and fired all of his
servants just to spend time with daisy. In doing this, Gatsby shows great qualities that one should look
for in another person: love, loyalty, trust, and a kind heart. Unfortunately, these attributes led to

Genetically Foods Should Be Approved For Human Consumption
Genetically engineered foods are defined as foods that have had genes from other animals or plants
(hereby referred to as foreign genes) added onto their genetic codes. The genetic engineering
technique can be employed on animals, plants, or on such microorganisms as bacteria (NIH). The
question of whether foods derived from such organisms should be approved for human consumption is
what has raised widespread controversy among many circles. There are those who view GM foods as
the ultimate solution to major challenges of the 21st century while others see them as a threat to
human health and the environment. Notably, the global society is facing major challenges key among
them being food insecurity and environmental issues such as global warming and climate change.
Genetically engineered foods present a potential solution to these challenges. This paper will argue
that with adequate research and regulation, genetically engineered foods should be approved owing to
the benefits they present in terms of increased food production and quality, as well as eliminating the
need to compromise the environment in the pursuit of more cultivation land and higher crop yield. In
my view, we certainly need genetically engineered foods to fight food insecurity that characterizes the
global society. A look at related statistics denotes a population that is facing serious food security
challenges. According to the Food and Agriculture Organization (FAO), an estimated 795 million

Case Study Of Toms Friends
The problems that Toms Friends will can met are numerous. Indeed, the first problem of Toms Friends
is the time of shoes reception for the disadvantaged children is too long (between 4 or 6 months from
the initial date of purchase). I would recommend to the company to answer at this problem by having
a better management in its logistics but also its transport to reduce the delivery deadlines. A good flow
management and an anticipation of sales would allow Toms Friends to be efficient and operational.
The company, if it has the financial possibility, can also open a factory in every disadvantages country
where it offers its shoes. It can be create new job for many people of those countries but also improve

allow it to help more children and to give them more quickly their shoe. But it is respectable to want

Many criticisms are emitted against Toms Friends and it can affect their sales and image in the

Georges Seurat s A Sunday Morning On The Island Of La...
Three weeks ago I visited the Art Institute of Chicago. It was established in 1879 and has since
expanded its collection to approximately three hundred thousand works. Attracting over one and a half
million visitors annually, it is one of the largest art museums in the United States. The reason I chose
this site is that I read that it displayed Georges Seurat s A Sunday Afternoon on the Island of La
Grande Jatte, and I wanted to see it in person because it is so iconic. While at the Art Institute of
Chicago, I spent most of my time in The Elizabeth Hammond Stickney Gallery . There were three
pieces in this gallery: Saint Michael and the Devil, The Birth of Saint John the Baptist, and Saint
George Killing the Dragon. Each piece was made in the Renaissance period in Europe in the fifteenth
to sixteenth centuries. I believe the main reason these pieces are grouped together is that they all
contain a depiction of a saint. Another reason for this arrangement is that all these paintings all
represent the survival of holy figures and the death of the evil ones. This is shown in each piece by
either a saint killing an evil creature or the birth of a holy saint. The piece I will analyze from the
previously mentioned gallery is Saint George Killing the Dragon by Bernat Martorell which was made
in 1434/35. This piece is a painting made on a support of panel with a media of tempera and stucco.
The main subject of the painting is a man wearing armor on a white horse. The man on the

Dave gives The Theory of Comparative Advantage a different name and calls it The Roundabout Way

John Adams And Abraham Lincoln
Despite the disparity in the popularity ratings between the two presidents, John Adams and Abraham
Lincoln are both indispensable figures in American history. In times of crisis, both of these men made
big, consequential decisions to keep the country from falling apart. However, while Lincoln is
commemorated for abolishing slavery and leading the Union in the Civil War, John Adams is
remembered for the mistakes of his presidency the Alien and Sedition Acts he issued that took away
certain constitutional rights endowed to the American people. Both presidents thought they were doing
what was necessary at the time to keep the United States from falling apart, but the contrasting
approaches they used left opposite impressions. This can be contributed to the fact that almost all
aspects of their lives, personal and professional, were opposite. So, while both presidents essentially
did the same thing in saving America from falling apart, their reputations are so different now because
of the way their lives and situations influenced the decisions they made.
HBO s John Adams begins in 1770, as the colonies are on their way to revolting against the British
Crown. The series begins with Adams life right before the revolution and follows the rest of his life
for the first fifty or so years of American history. Before having anything to do with politics, John was
a lawyer, a fairly successful one. He and his wife Abigail have an amazing relationship. Abigail makes
up for all of John s

The Importance Of I Love America In America
I love America, I love Americans one of my best friends is American and I have been over there on 7
or 8 occasions. I love the American way of life, their attitudes, their hospitable nature, and I love their
petrol prices £1.20 a gallon last time I was there!!! On top of their lifestyle, they have some
spectacular scenery and some awesome theme parks not to mention maple syrup and peanut butter and
jello!! Plain and simple I want to be American, and one day I would love to live there.
My first experience of flying was in 1983 when my parents took me to Malta. It was sunny, warm, a
little disconcerting but VERY exciting. I found although I did not know where I was,I was capable of
easily orienting myself and therefore became very comfortable very quickly. Malta, I found a little
boring, but it gave me a need to travel. A longing that 15 years later I would have the financial security
to fulfil (although a few years ago I had to put my travelling shoes away and my suitcase in the loft a
whole new article:)).
The first place I flew to in America was Texas. This was in August 1999. The reason for going
was...erm...complicated a whole other article again! I landed at around 2pm after 7 or 8 hours, but I
love flying, so it really wasn t a problem. My first adventure in America, but I d already decided it

Analysis Of. Shapiro s The Cross And Images On A...
Lamed Shapiro s The Cross tells the story, in vivid and disturbing detail, of a Russian Jewish man who
is attacked in a pogrom, alongside his estranged mother, and is branded on the forehead with a cross
by his attacker. Blume Lempel s Images on a Blank Canvas tells another story, in equally vivid and
disturbing detail, of a woman mourning the death of her friend, a prostitute who committed suicide. In
these two stories, there is one striking similarity: The survivor is portrayed by the non survivor. In The
Cross, the Russian Jew is depicted by his mother as the brutally murdered non survivor of a pogrom.
In Images on a Blank Canvas, Blume Lempel, the survivor, is depicted by her fallen friend Zosye.
Through the depictions of survivors by non survivors, Shapiro and Lempel are able to unpack the
trauma stemming from a pogrom and a suicide and its effects on the survivors. The Cross begins with
Shapiro s description of the man who would become, simultaneously, the survivor and non survivor.
Shapiro, after noticing the man s physical features, sizes up his forehead: Then I saw his wide
forehead. It was marked with a sharply cut brown cross, a shallow wound two knife cuts, crossing
each other. This simple declaration at the beginning of the story foreshadows the fate of the man with
the cross, and allows Shapiro to lead us into the riveting body of the story, a flashback into his
unnerving past. The man s own confession ...I ve been an outsider for years now

Love For England And Lucy By William Wordsworth
Before the Lyrical Ballad was published, William Wordsworth spent time in Germany away from
England. During this time, he composed a set of poems that would eventually be known as the Lucy
Poems . This set of poems would make their way into the first edition of the Lyrical Ballad. All of
them, except for one. Out of the five poems he writes, I travell d among unknown Men wouldn t
appear in the Lyrical Ballad alongside the other four Lucy Poems (Locke, 44). This particular poem,
compared to the rest, is the most iconic poem for showing Wordsworth s love for England and Lucy . I
travell d among unknown Men is a four stanza poem with four lines in each stanza. The format is in an
ABAB style and consists of the first and third line of ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The fact that Wordsworth puts In Lands beyond the Sea in his poem signifies that during the creation
of this poem he was, at one point, away from his home. In this case that place was Germany.
Wordsworth also does this in order to connect to the audience on a deeper level of thought. For those
who have been through a similar situation as Wordsworth, they would feel the presence of walking
among unknown Men more noticeably than others. This stanza ties in with the following stanza, Nor,
England! did I know till then what love I bore to thee (lines 3 4), to make the primary message of his
poem clear: Wordsworth, during his time in Germany, is realizing how much he loves England.
Because he has stayed away from England for a long period of time he begins to realize how much he
loves it. Wordsworth loves it so much so that he states that, once he returns to England, he will never
leave England again (line 6). The reasoning, however, is not because he despises Germany or loves the
country of England in its entirety. Rather, it is because of the unknown figure of Lucy who is also a
separate focus in this poem. Wordsworth makes the connection between Lucy and England by
expressing how his feelings of joy and desire of England came from her presence. She is introduced
into the poem at line 11 and 12 in which she turned her wheel beside and English Fire and is
confirmed to be Lucy at lines 15 and 16 in which she saw a green field

  • 2. A Statistical Physics Model ( Or Soal ) A Statistical Physics Model ( or SOAL Stochastically Oriented Asymmetric Localization) for Axon Outgrowth Patterning Normally, at the leading edge, the molecular mechanism produces axon outgrowth activity and moves plasma membrane extension of HSN cell body in the ventral direction (Adler et al., 2006). However, in mutants, the different directions of axon outgrowth from the HSN cell body scored to create a probability distribution for axon outgrowth activity directions, diffusion and displacement (Tang and Wadsworth, 2014). Therefore, the axon outgrowth pattering is altering. Previous study reported that the extracellular guidance cues, including UNC 6/Netrin and its receptor have role in determining the axon outgrowth ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Using the probability distribution, we compared the probabilities in wild type and mutants. For example, UNC 6/Netrin extracellular guidance cues can decreases or increase the probability of UNC 40 activity at each side of the neuron. Thus, this probability is directed as a stochastic process. In more evidence, the probability of axon outgrowth activity in ventral direction is decreased, whereas the probability of axon outgrowth in other directions is increased in mutants (Xu et al., 2009; Kulkarni et al, 2013; Yang et al., 2014; Tang and Wadsworth, 2014). Therefore, the guidance cues control the direction of movement fluctuates over time. We report that this probabilities can cause different regions of the neurons plasma membrane to move in different directions. Thus the axon outgrowth extension morphology is abnormal and cause new axon outgrowth patterning. Genetic evidence indicates that UNC 40/DCC, a central regulator of polarization in multicellular animals (Ziel and Sherwood, 2010), mediates several signals that regulates the polarization and orientation in response to UNC 6/Netrin. UNC 40::GFP clusters randomly along the cell surface in response to polarization signal whereas the orientation signal causes the UNC 40::GFP cluster toward specific direction (Xu et al., 2009; Kulkarni et al., 2013; Tang and Wadsworth, 2014). Consisting with a random walk, we hypothesize that random walk used to ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 4. Gender Roles And Social Norms The media is currently largely responsible in creating and reminding people of the existence of gender roles and social norms, which consequently influences children. Aside from media, parents are the most responsible in the upbringing of their child. That being said, parents can choose to control what they teach their child and steer them away from the societal norms of certain gender roles, but they don t have control over the media s content. Sometimes, parents can t help if they give their daughter a Barbie doll and their son a Batman action figure, because they don t realize it and they themselves were raised to understand that girls are supposed to like this and do that and boys are supposed to like that and do this. It s all a chain ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... When it comes to advertisements promoting certain toys and products to children, companies are not afraid to advertise gender targeted products, because they know children are vulnerable. A 2017 study report titled Gendered Advertising to Children: An Analysis of Differences in Male and Female Targeted Television Commercials written by Meredith Ford mentioned that, When children realize that the toys they see advertised are only meant for one gender, they latch on to that group of children and do not socialize with the other gender. This sets a detrimental precedent for child development and socialization skills. When children are exposed to media at a young age, their brains first start to develop and they learn to adapt to their environment. As soon as the child is fully developed, however, there is no way of causing them to forget what they learned or were surrounded with whether it was something good or bad. Additionally, and interestingly, children are capable without even realizing that they are pushing themselves away from the other gender because they were vulnerable to learn from the media that their gender is only supposed to like what they are advertising and not the other genders products. An Analysis Of Leap By Brian Doyle An Artistic Way to See Tragedies Leap by Brian Doyle is a poem that describes the event of 9/11 focusing on a specific couple who jumped together holding hands as if they were meant to be together at that particular moment, and Desperation Force a Horrific Decision by Dennis Cauchon and Martha Moore is a newspaper article that describes the event of 9/11 in a more professional way giving more details about the event focusing on the jumpers in general and what made them make the decision of jumping from the buildings. In Desperation Forced a Horrific Decision the authors focused the setting on a broader view of the situation, not focusing on specific victims but giving details such as when the attack started or when the first victim jumped. They give specific numbers and facts to gain credibility because as a newspaper they have to have some sort of credibility to get to the audience. The authors set the scenario on a more analytic so the audience can imagine how the event occurs with a more objective point of view, as the authors claim in their work: the jumping started shortly after the first jet hit at 8:46 a.m. people jumped continuously during 102 minutes. They give specific and accurate details. • 6. Jackson Pollock Essay The dominant figure that steered the course of the Abstract Expressionist movement was the infamous painter Jackson Pollock. He was born Paul Jackson Pollock in Cody, Wyoming on January 28, 1912. He was the fifth and youngest son and grew up in Arizona and California after his family left him when he was a little over one year old. Pollock s artistic journey began at the Manual Arts School in Los Angeles, California where he joined two of his brothers. From there, he went on to New York to attend the Art Students League after being convinced by one of his brothers whom also attended the school. Before moving into his own innovative style, Pollock would have to learn the formal rules of art, as every accomplished artist does. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... In 1939, Jackson Pollock entered psychotherapy for his alcoholism. For him, the doctors saw that producing artwork could serve as a means of therapy for his problem with alcohol. His alcoholism would later come back to haunt him and his works in later years and become the cause of his ultimate demise. Pollock began doing all of his works in a completely abstract manner in the mid 1940s. But, after 1947 is when Pollock s most recognizable abstract works would be produced. This is when he began placing large canvases on the floor and creating his famous abstract works. On these large canvases, he started to use his drip technique, which was first shown to him by Siqueiro. These drip paintings were first shown in 1948. They are said to reflect both ecstasy and anxiety. After they were introduced to the world, a critic actually characterized Pollock as Jack the Dripper . These works captivated and scared his future wife, Lee Krasner, a painter herself. His personal technique in gesture and action painting was applied as directly as possible. Pollock said that through this active process, he could literally be in the painting . This describes the term coined action painting . He also said, When I am in my painting, I m not aware of what I m doing. It is only after a sort of ‘get acquainted period that I see what I have been about. I have no fears about making ... • 7. Piaget s Cognitive Theory Of Child Development Throughout time, various theoretical perspectives have been analyzed and applied to the study of child development, each focusing on different stages of learning and growth. Teachers, educators and those caring for young children resort to these theories in order to develop informed and developmentally appropriate practices. In this paper, I will focus on Piaget s Cognitive Theory of development and how this theory plays a role in the field of early childhood education. Jean Piaget was the first major cognitive theorist, emerging in the field of psychology during the second half of the twentieth century. He was born in August 9, 1896, in Neuchâtel, Switzerland (Smith). His academic training was in biology, but he also had an interest in epistemology, the ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... According to Robert J, MacKenzie, children learn concretely, meaning that although children understand language and are able to communicate with words, actions actually define the rules teachers try to practice. For example, when a preschooler is asked to put toys away slowly rather than throwing them, it may be necessary for a teacher or educator to work with the child hand over hand to show how to do it (29). Clearly, what children experience with their senses, such as what the see, feel, hear and touch, determines how they think the world around them really is. In all in this paper I briefly explained Piaget s Cognitive Theory of development. I explored the four different stages of development that describe how individuals way of thinking changes over time. This theory, along with many others not discussed in this paper, play an important role in the field of child development. All of the different theoretical perspectives include different aspects of human development necessary to provide appropriate developmental practices in educating young children and ... • 8. Symptoms And Treatment Of Shock Shock is a life threatening condition with a variety of underlying causes. Shock is caused when the cells have a lack of adequate blood supply and are deprived of oxygen and nutrients. In cases of shock, blood is shunted from peripheral areas of the body to the vital organs. Hemorrhage and decreased blood volume are associated with some, but not all, types of shock. Adventitious lung sounds occur in the upper airway D) Heart and respiratory rates are elevated Ans: D Feedback: As sepsis progresses, tissues become less perfused and acidotic, compensation begins to fail, and the patient begins to show organ dysfunction. The cardiovascular system also begins to fail, the blood pressure does not respond to fluid resuscitation and vasoactive agents, and signs of end organ damage are evident (e.g., renal failure, pulmonary failure, hepatic failure). As sepsis progresses to septic shock, the blood pressure drops, and the skin becomes cool, pale, and mottled. Temperature may be normal or below normal. Heart and respiratory rates remain rapid. Urine production ceases, and multiple organ dysfunction progressing to death occurs. Adventitious lung sounds occur throughout the lung fields, not just in the upper fields of the lungs. 36. I aim to focus on the historical and contemporary situation of Torres Strait Islander and how the Edward Koiki Mabo (Eddie Mabo) decision has affected them. History Background Edward Koiki Mabo (Eddie Mabo) is the Australian Man born in 1936 from Torres Strait Islander campaigning for Indigenous land rights. His decision for land rights was the legal decision. In 1981, Mabo gave first speech at the land rights conference at the James Cook University explaining the traditional land ownership and inheritance system that his community followed on Mer Island. The lawyer in the conference noted the significance of Mabo s speech and gave a suggestion there should be a test case to claim land rights through the court system. The case was heard for ten years, progressing from the Queensland Supreme Court to the high court of Australia. The choice of high court judgment in the Mabo case came about a clearing the myth of tera nullins and setting up a legitimate structure for native title by indigenous Australian. People recognize that Indigenous Australian have a prior claim to land taken by the British Crown since 1770. They were only land such as vacant crown land, national parks and possibly some leased land, where the lease is subjected to the Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people. It is important because it was the turning point for the recognition of Aboriginal and People right which acknowledge their unique connection with land. The judgments of the High Court inserted ... • 18. Role Of Stephen King s Stories The Role of Stephen King s Stories in Modern American Literature Stephen King is one of the most prolific writers of this century. He has written a number of short stories and novels many of which have been turned into movies. One of the reasons that King s works are popular with readers is due to the fact that his stories give the reader something outside of the formulaic formula that many books are inclined to follow or endings that are predictable and derivative. King also made his foray into horror in the 1970 s when the genre was kind of lackluster. King offered the reader something different in that he did not shy away from the gore, gratuitous violence or cheap shocks. One of the reasons that King s works have so much power when it comes to the imagination is because he himself is a horror aficionado, who writes according to his worldview. Readers can also see the influence that Classic literature has had on the works of King. Just as the works of the Ancient Greeks and later Shakespeare focused on certain themes, such as man versus nature, good versus evil or love versus hate, so do the works of King. However, in his works King tends to twist the traditional plot of Shakespeare and the Classic by having his characters go from hero to villain or showing the loss of man s honor or humanity in the wake of horror. One of the things seen often times in his writing is the alienation of both the individual and of society. Publication of Mile 81 Mile 81 was ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Indirect Causes Of Biodiversity Conservation The government using large scale efforts to conserve biodiversity or ecosystem services most effectively complement bottom up conservation efforts led by local communities because they give more research answers to them. Government ran records of biodiversity conservation attempts help bottom up attempts not only because they provide more information, they provide ideas on how to fix the problem, and they usually help. Biodiversity loss is caused by local, global, and regional factors, so this problem should be brought to all of their attention. Responses designed to address biodiversity loss will not be sufficient unless relevant direct and indirect drivers of change are brought to attention. Some causes of biodiversity loss are localized, such as overexploitation. Others are global, such as climate change, while a lot operate at a different variety of scales, such as the local impacts of invasive species through global trade. Most of the responses named here were designed to address the direct causes of biodiversity loss. However, these causes are better seen as symptoms of the indirect causes, such as unsustainable patterns of consumption, demographic change, and globalization. Social Attitudes In The Great Gatsby I felt a haunting loneliness sometimes, and felt it in others young clerks in the dusk, wasting the most poignant moments of night and life (Fitzgerald, p.xx). This is the feeling one might feel in their lives no matter how much money they have. F. Scott Fitzgerald wrote The Great Gatsby to portray the different social attitudes within the upper class. F. Scott Fitzgerald was born Francis Scott Key Fitzgerald on September 24, 1896 in St. Paul, Minnesota. He was 29 years old when The Great Gatsby was published on April 10, 1925. In The Great Gatsby, Fitzgerald sheds light on the different personalities between the aged rich families and the modern rich families. An example of the sophistication of Gatsby are the elaborate parties he throws for the people he invites, while on the other hand, Tom and Daisy have a simple dinner with only a few people over. The emptiness one might feel at any time in their life cannot be fulfilled with money but only with other friends surrounding one. Gatsby is characterized as a very elaborate man sophisticated in his ways. He is always seen throwing extravagant parties with only the best of the best belongings in his home. One week ends his Rolls Royce became an omnibus, bearing parties to and from the city between nine in the morning and long past midnight, while his station wagon scampered like a brisk yellow bug to meet all trains. ( Melville, p.39). Nick explains the bizarre lifestyle that Gatsby had with all his parties. Although, throughout Gatsby s life, the reader is able to see the emptiness he feels without Daisy. I,m just going to wait here and see if he tries to bother her about that unpleasantness this afternoon. She s locked herself into her room, and if he tries any brutality she s going to turn the light out and on again. (Melville, p.144). Here, the reader recognizes the love Gatsby has for daisy. He is willing to wait all night in order to be sure of her protection. Gatsby has called off all of his parties and fired all of his servants just to spend time with daisy. In doing this, Gatsby shows great qualities that one should look for in another person: love, loyalty, trust, and a kind heart. Unfortunately, these attributes led to Gatsby s death, ... Genetically Foods Should Be Approved For Human Consumption Genetically engineered foods are defined as foods that have had genes from other animals or plants (hereby referred to as foreign genes) added onto their genetic codes. The genetic engineering technique can be employed on animals, plants, or on such microorganisms as bacteria (NIH). The question of whether foods derived from such organisms should be approved for human consumption is what has raised widespread controversy among many circles. There are those who view GM foods as the ultimate solution to major challenges of the 21st century while others see them as a threat to human health and the environment. Notably, the global society is facing major challenges key among them being food insecurity and environmental issues such as global warming and climate change. Genetically engineered foods present a potential solution to these challenges. This paper will argue that with adequate research and regulation, genetically engineered foods should be approved owing to the benefits they present in terms of increased food production and quality, as well as eliminating the need to compromise the environment in the pursuit of more cultivation land and higher crop yield. In my view, we certainly need genetically engineered foods to fight food insecurity that characterizes the global society. It was established in 1879 and has since expanded its collection to approximately three hundred thousand works. Attracting over one and a half million visitors annually, it is one of the largest art museums in the United States. The reason I chose this site is that I read that it displayed Georges Seurat s A Sunday Afternoon on the Island of La Grande Jatte, and I wanted to see it in person because it is so iconic. While at the Art Institute of Chicago, I spent most of my time in The Elizabeth Hammond Stickney Gallery . There were three pieces in this gallery: Saint Michael and the Devil, The Birth of Saint John the Baptist, and Saint George Killing the Dragon. Each piece was made in the Renaissance period in Europe in the fifteenth to sixteenth centuries. I believe the main reason these pieces are grouped together is that they all contain a depiction of a saint. Another reason for this arrangement is that all these paintings all represent the survival of holy figures and the death of the evil ones. This is shown in each piece by either a saint killing an evil creature or the birth of a holy saint. The piece I will analyze from the previously mentioned gallery is Saint George Killing the Dragon by Bernat Martorell which was made in 1434/35. This piece is a painting made on a support of panel with a media of tempera and stucco. The main subject of the painting is a man wearing armor on a white horse. The man on the ... • 34. John Adams And Abraham Lincoln Despite the disparity in the popularity ratings between the two presidents, John Adams and Abraham Lincoln are both indispensable figures in American history. In times of crisis, both of these men made big, consequential decisions to keep the country from falling apart. However, while Lincoln is commemorated for abolishing slavery and leading the Union in the Civil War, John Adams is remembered for the mistakes of his presidency the Alien and Sedition Acts he issued that took away certain constitutional rights endowed to the American people. Both presidents thought they were doing what was necessary at the time to keep the United States from falling apart, but the contrasting approaches they used left opposite impressions. This can be contributed to the fact that almost all aspects of their lives, personal and professional, were opposite. So, while both presidents essentially did the same thing in saving America from falling apart, their reputations are so different now because of the way their lives and situations influenced the decisions they made. HBO s John Adams begins in 1770, as the colonies are on their way to revolting against the British Crown. The series begins with Adams life right before the revolution and follows the rest of his life for the first fifty or so years of American history. Before having anything to do with politics, John was a lawyer, a fairly successful one. He and his wife Abigail have an amazing relationship. Abigail makes up for all of John s ... • 35. The Importance Of I Love America In America I love America, I love Americans one of my best friends is American and I have been over there on 7 or 8 occasions. I love the American way of life, their attitudes, their hospitable nature, and I love their petrol prices £1.20 a gallon last time I was there!!! On top of their lifestyle, they have some spectacular scenery and some awesome theme parks not to mention maple syrup and peanut butter and jello!! Plain and simple I want to be American, and one day I would love to live there. My first experience of flying was in 1983 when my parents took me to Malta. It was sunny, warm, a little disconcerting but VERY exciting. I found although I did not know where I was,I was capable of easily orienting myself and therefore became very comfortable very quickly. Malta, I found a little boring, but it gave me a need to travel. A longing that 15 years later I would have the financial security to fulfil (although a few years ago I had to put my travelling shoes away and my suitcase in the loft a whole new article:)). The first place I flew to in America was Texas. This was in August 1999. The reason for going was...erm...complicated a whole other article again! I landed at around 2pm after 7 or 8 hours, but I love flying, so it really wasn t a problem. My first adventure in America, but I d already decided it wouldn t be my last. I flew into Dallas, but needed to be in Paris a 2 hour taxi ride away. By the time I had cleared customs nowhere near as scary or intimidating ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 36. Analysis Of. Shapiro s The Cross And Images On A... Lamed Shapiro s The Cross tells the story, in vivid and disturbing detail, of a Russian Jewish man who is attacked in a pogrom, alongside his estranged mother, and is branded on the forehead with a cross by his attacker. Blume Lempel s Images on a Blank Canvas tells another story, in equally vivid and disturbing detail, of a woman mourning the death of her friend, a prostitute who committed suicide. In these two stories, there is one striking similarity: The survivor is portrayed by the non survivor. In The Cross, the Russian Jew is depicted by his mother as the brutally murdered non survivor of a pogrom. In Images on a Blank Canvas, Blume Lempel, the survivor, is depicted by her fallen friend Zosye. Through the depictions of survivors by non survivors, Shapiro and Lempel are able to unpack the trauma stemming from a pogrom and a suicide and its effects on the survivors. The Cross begins with Shapiro s description of the man who would become, simultaneously, the survivor and non survivor. Shapiro, after noticing the man s physical features, sizes up his forehead: Then I saw his wide forehead. It was marked with a sharply cut brown cross, a shallow wound two knife cuts, crossing each other. This simple declaration at the beginning of the story foreshadows the fate of the man with the cross, and allows Shapiro to lead us into the riveting body of the story, a flashback into his unnerving past. The man s own confession ...I ve been an outsider for years now ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 37. Love For England And Lucy By William Wordsworth Before the Lyrical Ballad was published, William Wordsworth spent time in Germany away from England. During this time, he composed a set of poems that would eventually be known as the Lucy Poems . This set of poems would make their way into the first edition of the Lyrical Ballad. All of them, except for one. Out of the five poems he writes, I travell d among unknown Men wouldn t appear in the Lyrical Ballad alongside the other four Lucy Poems (Locke, 44). This particular poem, compared to the rest, is the most iconic poem for showing Wordsworth s love for England and Lucy . I travell d among unknown Men is a four stanza poem with four lines in each stanza. The format is in an ABAB style and consists of the first and third line of ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The fact that Wordsworth puts In Lands beyond the Sea in his poem signifies that during the creation of this poem he was, at one point, away from his home. In this case that place was Germany. Wordsworth also does this in order to connect to the audience on a deeper level of thought. For those who have been through a similar situation as Wordsworth, they would feel the presence of walking among unknown Men more noticeably than others. This stanza ties in with the following stanza, Nor, England! did I know till then what love I bore to thee (lines 3 4), to make the primary message of his poem clear: Wordsworth, during his time in Germany, is realizing how much he loves England. Because he has stayed away from England for a long period of time he begins to realize how much he loves it. Wordsworth loves it so much so that he states that, once he returns to England, he will never leave England again (line 6). The reasoning, however, is not because he despises Germany or loves the country of England in its entirety. Rather, it is because of the unknown figure of Lucy who is also a separate focus in this poem. Wordsworth makes the connection between Lucy and England by expressing how his feelings of joy and desire of England came from her presence. She is introduced into the poem at line 11 and 12 in which she turned her wheel beside and English Fire and is confirmed to be Lucy at lines 15 and 16 in which she saw a green field ...
