2. St Patrick s Day Essay
10 Things You Did Not Know About St. Patrick s Day
St. Patrick s Day is a day where we celebrate the Irish heritage and it is often known as the day when
non Irish people are Irish for a day . For a lot of people it is an excuse to have a good time and dress
up in green clothes, drink green beer and drinks or dress up like a full fledged leprechaun. Most
people do not know the true meaning of the day nor why more exactly it is celebrated. Here are ten
things I bet you didn t know about St. Patrick s Day.
March 17th The death day of Patrick
March 17th is the day when Patrick died. St. Patrick is a saint of the Catholic Church and March 17th
is his holy day; the day he died and went to heaven. He spent his life converting pagans of Ireland ...

Patrick s Day has a strong political history
In the middle of the 19th century the Irish suffered from discrimination much like that of the African
Americans. In some cases the prejudice against the Irish was fiercer even. The Irish immigrated in
great numbers to the US and due to their culture, Catholic faith and the poor conditions in Ireland they
were considered to be potentially disloyal and were thus treated very poorly. As a way to battle this
they began organizing themselves politically and by the end of the 19th century St. Patrick s Day was
a grand holiday for the Irish as well as a day for them to demonstrate their political and social might.
The political purpose of the holiday faded along with the discrimination but to this day the holiday
remains as a day full of festivities for everyone regardless of one s cultural background.
Up until 1970 St Patrick s Day was a sober holiday in Ireland
The colour green and drinking are two to things most associated with St. Patrick s Day however due to
Irish law all the pubs were shut during that day. That meant neither beer nor alcohol of any kind for
the celebrants. The law was changed in 1970 when it was reclassified as a national holiday with all

3. Attributes of Typical Heisman Trophy Winners Essay
HEISMAN DILEMMA
The Heisman Trophy: symbol of unquestionable superiority among fellow NCAA division 1 A athletes
. . . or is it? This unique honor is awarded to the player who the Heisman panel believes is the best
player in 1 A. The award can be given to a player of any position, or so the Heisman committee says.
There has never been a Heisman candidate who hasn t been a quarterback, running back, or multi
purpose skill player (for example: someone who plays wide receiver, defensive back, and is a
situational running back). Does the Heisman Trophy really determine who the best player (and
therefore best NFL prospect) is? I can prove who will win the Heisman this year, but should that
person be the Heisman winner? Kirk ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
6. The winner cannot be an obvious product of his team s system.
7. If you are a quarterback, running back, or multipurpose athlete at a traditional power, have a very
good statistical season, are an upperclassman, and your team wins at least nine games, you have a very
good chance to win. Traditional powers qualify as:
Notre Dame, USC, Texas, Oklahoma, Nebraska, Ohio State,
Michigan, Miami, or Florida State.
8. Statistical Benchmarks for each position in order to just be considered for the Heisman:
Running Back: Must score at least 17 touchdowns and gain
1,700 all purpose yards;
Quarterback: 20 touchdown passes, 3,000 yards, 2 1 touchdown interception ratio, and at least a 135
passer rating; if you are a running quarterback, you need 1000 yards rushing and need to be a decent
passer.
Multi threat athlete: Must make big plays on both sides of the ball, and consistently make big special
team plays, specifically punt and kick returns.
9. There will never be another 2 time Heisman winner.
10. The winner must be likeable. (Herbstreit)
Let s just take a look at the Heisman winners of the past 5 years. Matt
Leinart (2004 Heisman winner), Jason White (2003 winner), Carson
Palmer (2002 winner), Eric Crouch (2001 winner), and Chris Weinke
(2000 winner) met all ten Heismandments. Fifteen out of the last twenty winners have belonged to a
traditional power (the traditional powers are listed above.

4. Speech On Nature Is Precious
God created the world perfectly. We are so bless to have such a precious gift like this. Nature provides
us what we need to survive each day of our living, like our mother. It give us a food to eat, water to
drink, air to breathe, shelter to stay and many more for our life to become better and easier. Our nature
have many beautiful scenery. Our eyes won t get tired mesmerizing on it. No wonder why many artist,
writers, poets, and painters choose it to be their subject. Human are the real user of the nature. We are
dependent on it that s why we will not survive on earth without it. Having this precious gift means
also a big responsibility. A big responsibility for a human to fulfill. That s why it is right and just to

We should not allow our selfishness to take over. We should enjoy our beautiful nature without hurting
it. Let s help each other to take away it from the damages. So that our future generation can also

not too late. Let s help each other to take care of it so that we can enjoy it forever.
Nature is everything which surround us and one of this is the flower. Flower is a part of a plant. It is a
reproductive organ that produces eggs and pollen grains. Many flower have brightly colored petals
and sweet fragrant which make them unique from the other living things. They produce nectar that
attracts insect, animals and human too. While the animals eat on the nectar, some pollen grains stick
on their bodies. When they move to another flower they carry the pollen and help pollinate those
flowers. The pollination by animals are more effectively than pollination by the wind. Why? Because
the animals directly move from flower to flower and not like in wind where the pollen can be carry
anywhere. There is an assurance if it is

I am Nkem. I am fourteen years old. I come from Oyo, one of four states inland near the gulf of
Guinea. Oyo is the most successful of all four kingdoms because of its thriving forests and because we
didn t have the tsetse fly or any other diseases so we were able to breed horses. We had many
farmlands with slave labor and we had many slaves which were traded to the Europeans for guns,
clothes, and metal goods. I lived with my mother, father, and my younger brother. This is the story of
how I got kidnapped, taken away from my family, was brought to Mississippi to have everything

the drinking gourd. The path to freedom was to walk up the bank of the Tombigbee river following the
dead trees. We would come to two mountains where the river stopped and continued on the other side.
We then would walk up the Tennessee river and cross the Ohio river where Peg Leg would take us the
rest of the journey to freedom. We were to leave in the winter when the days were shorter and the
nights longer to travel at night and hide during the day. We started the week, maybe month long
journey the next night sneaking away from everything that had brought us here. There were seven of
us including the women and man who were bought with me. We started along the paths Peg Leg had
directed following the drinking gourd pointing to the North star. Each night we made it a little farther
and each day was spent resting and hiding. Following the river banks and climbing over mountains.
Days turned into weeks and weeks turned into months. Soon enough we came to Peg Leg, the man
who was supposed to take us to freedom. After being taken from my home, thrown on a ship, being

6. prescription drug abuse
Prescription Drug Abuse
Millions of people throughout the world are taking drugs on a daily basis. If you were to ask someone
why they take prescription drugs, most people would be taking them for the right reason. However, it s
estimated that twenty percent of people in the United States alone have used prescription drugs for
non medical reasons.1 Prescription drug abuse is a serious and growing problem that often goes
unnoticed. Abusing these drugs can often lead to addiction and even death. You can develop an
addiction to certain drugs that may include: narcotic painkillers, sedatives, tranquilizers, and
stimulants.1 Prescription drugs are the most common abused category of drugs, right next to
marijuana, cocaine, heroin, and ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
For instance, some people mix alcohol and Valium, both of which can slow breathing. The
combination of the two could stop breathing altogether.4 Cough and cold medications are some of the
most commonly abused over the counter medications. They contain an ingredient called
dextromethorphan. However, to get to the high craved by people who use drugs, large quantities are
needed. At high doses, dextromethorphan causes side effects similar to those of the drugs Ketamine,
or PCP, by affecting similar sites to the brain. Ketamine and PCP are considered dissociative drugs,
which make people feel disconnected from their normal selves. When taken as directed, over the
counter drugs are safe and effective, but high doses can cause problems. It s always important to read
the bottle labels and take over the counter medications only as directed.4
Not all prescription drugs have the potential for abuse and addiction. Many drugs don t even act in the
brain. For example, antibiotics are not addictive. On the rare occasion people who take drugs for
medical conditions may become addicted. This is why it is extremely important to be under a doctor s
care while taking prescription medication.4 Most prescription drugs are taken in a form that gets to the
brain slowly at a dose that treats a problem, but doesn t overwhelm the system. Both of which reduce
the likelihood of an addiction. Long term medical use of prescription drugs can

Analysis of the Character of Shrek and Lord Farquaad from movie Shrek
In this essay I will analyse the characters of Shrek and Lord Farquaad and tell you about how the
filmmakers use different presentational devices to create an unusual fairy tale.
In traditional fairy tales the princess is normally a perfect, kind, beautiful person. In a traditional fairy
tale the princess is trapped in the tallest tower of a castle guarded by a terrifying beast.
A handsome prince always rescues them, for instance in Snow White and the seven dwarfs the prince
who rescues her gives her the kiss of life, which is supposed to make the story romantic. Ogres in

Donkey tries to become friends with Shrek by coming into his house and bouncing on his bed saying

Donkey outside and Donkey keeps popping his head up in the window which annoys Shrek.
There are three blind mice who tease Shrek by talking about the smell of cheese when they are near
Shreks ears this is funny because the mice are blind but still manage to offend the ogre.

Donkey and Shrek visit Duloc, to try to reclaim Shreks swamp from Lord Farquaad. Donkey thinks
that Shrek is too kind and should not have to ask for his swamp to be returned to him. Donkey tells
Shrek to kick out the fairy tale creatures with force from
his swamp if he needs to. Shrek offers to solve the dispute over a pint, which shows Shrek is trying to
settle the dispute without using violence.

8. Baroque Vs Dutch
The Dutch and the French baroque paintings both portray the seventeenth century, but they show
opposite scenes. The French Painting shows that there was more of a hierarchy, at the time France
relied on rich nobles. Their economy was dominated by mercantilism; their social structure was
centered around the Versailles. The Dutch baroque painting shows that the people all see common, not
too rich, it seems as if they did not have a hierarchy. The Netherlands dominated the economy with
free trade and the social order was conservative, the same. During the 17th century when Louis XIV
was king, French Society was ruled by his program of order through hierarchy and his minister
Colbert economic policies of mercantilism. The French painting seems ... Show more content on

The Dutch at the time were becoming very powerful because unlike the French they were offering free
trade. Allowing free trade was leading to the rise of power for the Dutch, they were increasing ports
and more people were preferring to trade with them. During the 17th century the Dutch was going
through The Golden Age and they had to finance the growing trade with the trade routes, as a result of
this the Bank of Amsterdam was created. During the time Calvinism was the state s religion, the
Netherlands were a tolerant state, but mostly the people that gained from the Golden Age were the
Protestants. During this era the middle class was beginning to rise and was the leading class because
of the free market. People were not being taxed for their products and were able to trade with
whomever they wanted. The Dutch republic was based not like a monarchy but more anti monarchism
because they believed that every citizen had a right to vote. The Dutch had an Egalitarian view and
they wanted every person to be equal and to have the same rights. The Dutch s Egalitarian view
affected how they responded to the command of Philip II of Spain when Philip tried to make everyone
Catholic. Instead of listening the Dutch started the Dutch Revolt. The Main reason that they fought

10. The Five Principles Of Civilization
The five principles of civilization allow you to get a better understanding of history. Not only does it
break down the material for you to learn easier, but it allows you to receive the information for where
you can remember the contents better. Principle one is Geography is Destiny, geography is what
allowed civilizations to settle down, which led to the creation of agriculture, trade, war, politics, new
inventions, etc., while it also helped them get to where we are today by striving to create a destiny for
ourselves. Principle two is Agriculture Creates Civilization, civilization would die off if they couldn t
produce food so agriculture allowed civilizations to grow into cities. Depending on the geography of
where the civilization was located, depended on what they could grow. So they had to adapt to their
surroundings to figure out what they could grow. Principle three, Clashes of Culture Drive Innovation,
shows how civilizations would fight each other for different resources (land, food, water) which led
civilians to new ideas being invented like new weapons and strategies so they could defeat their
enemy. War led to civilizations spreading and teaching their ways with other civilizations by them
seeing their ideas so they had to do better (encouraged new ideas). Principle four, Trade Is the
Lifeblood of Civilizations, trade made it possible for different cultures/civilizations to trade their
goods and ideas. This allowed them to see other religions, agriculture,

11. Mendeleev s The Periodic Table Of The Elements
Dmitri Mendeleev, who developed the periodic table of the elements, was one of sciences most
influential leaders. Before Mendeleev, religion and beliefs shaped people s choices rather than science
and facts. Mendeleev s fame and dedication changed that. Throughout his life, Mendeleev was a
leader in science and the legacy he left behind led others to discover new elements and facilitate
chemistry for generations to come. Dmitri Ivanovich Mendeleev was born on February 8th, 1834 in
Tobolsk, Russia. Mendeleev was the seventeenth child out of seventeen born to Ivan Mendeleev and
Maria Kornilyeva. Three of the children died at birth. All fourteen of the children who lived received
Christian names. Mendeleev s father, Ivan Pavlovich Mendeleev, became blind the same year
Mendeleev was born, which left the family in a difficult position. While Mendeleev s family was
affluent and successful, they did not have excess wealth. After his father became blind and unable to
work, Mendeleev s mother took a job governing her brother s glass factory in hope that the money
would assist in raising her children. The outcome was dismal and eventually the glass factory burnt
down. At age seven, a year earlier than was normally allowed, Mendeleev started his education at the
gymnasium his father had taught at. Throughout his primary education, Mendeleev was average in all
classes except chemistry, where he earned much higher marks. He graduated a year early from the
gymnasium at age fifteen.

12. African American Slavery
A valid point Howard Zinn wrote in A People s History of the United States was that African
Americans were ensnared into American slavery for many reasons, those of which include desperate
settlers, the helplessness of Africans outside their home country, the greed of colonists, the control
against rebellion, and the consequences of black and white collaboration. I believe he makes a very
valid point, for all his reasons have historical evidence to back them up. From the years 1609 to 1610,
Virginains suffered through what was called a starving time, where approximatley four hundred and
forty settlers died due to starvation. Colonist realized they needed labor to grow crops to sustain the
colony, and as there were few numbers of white servants, Africans were the perfect solution. This was
the one of the first steps to American slavery. However, how were the Africans so easy to enslave?
African had a culture centered around community and family, so when they were removed from that,
they lost became stranded and helpless. Slavery proceeded because of the greed of slave traders and
plantation owners. Africans were packed in ship to the point of suffocation, and in fact, one of every
three blacks transported overseas died (Zinn 5). Ir did not matter to the traders because they earned
huge profits despite losing ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

rebellion furthermore trapped slaves in

let America know that this was the best thing he could do for the country. The next day Ford was
sworn into office and he also gave a speech. This speech shared a similar purpose to the speech given
by Nixon the day before. The purposes of these two speeches, although were given for different
things, were very similar. Nixon was involved with the Watergate scandal which led to his
impeachment. Nixon s speech to America was given a purpose, and this was to let the people of his
country know that this may not be ideal, but it was best. It states

Any decisions to make changes are, to ensure the company s success, the employment agency s
success, and the satisfaction of the employees and consumers. Such changes are derived from planned
or unplanned change processes. The focus of transformational change in this literature will surround
the employment agency in correlation with the company. Because the agency has proven success in
providing superb technical support to their customers, the company decided to offer other
opportunities to expand their current lines of business. The opportunities exceeded the original plan of

these new lines of business are already in place with the company, but have tend to become

moving from the Industrial Age paradigm (past), into the Knowledge Age paradigm (future).

Cry
Alvin Ailey
Cry is a dance choreographed by a very talented and well recognised choreographer named Alvin
Ailey. This was created in 1971. Ailey has created many incredible works but I must say that Cry was
one of his most outstanding works of art. The dance s intent is to portray the struggle strength of the
African American women who were in the slave trade; how women so enslaved trapped can still
manage to be so free.
Everything in this piece was thought of in specific detail in order to portray the intent as well as
possible. For example, in this work there are three distinct sections and for each new section, there is a
new song that is played. The songs used in this work are Something About John Coltrane by ... Show

This prop is a long piece of white material (that has characteristics of a silk scarf) and is used to
symbolise the boundaries and restraints in the lives of the slaves. Her emotions change throughout this
section, she is hidden at first but then she progressively becomes angrier as she is frustrated confined
while doing things she does not want to do.
The movements used in this section are very long and flowing. There are several arm extensions
contractions that are soon followed by Jamison s torso pushing back up. I see the arm extension as
trying to reach out for freedom and something better outside of that small box of slavery and I see the
contractions as the pressure finally getting to her and then she decides to not give in to that pressure.
In the second section it represents the women fighting for their freedom. The movements are a lot
more circular in this section. It uses more contractions, releasing vibratory movements. In the first two
sections, the dancer shows the struggle being not only physical but emotional also. She does this by
the powerful expressions she uses on her face. She even imitates a couple of screams that play in the
song Been On A Train . This gives the audience a clear understanding of the how she is feeling.
The connection between the second and third section is that it goes from fighting for freedom to
finally having it. In this last section, we can see the

interaction between people present because everyone stands in the same direction lined up next to
each other doing the same tasks. In the mosque there is the raised platform minbar space which seems
more sacred than other spaces because it s raised up and it s the place where the person who leads the
prayer imam stands. I came to this conclusion because of the raised platform he s higher than us which
means he has more advantages. Also by the raised platform the imam is close to god more than us
while praying. The mosque helps to focus attention on sacred actions. The carpet, the minbar, the
adhan and the way prayers kneel and bow all help us focus on how they are doing it. The scared object
used in the praying is the holy book Quran. Some Muslims praying say what they memorized from the
Quran and some hold it and read from it while praying. The raised platform minbar is also considered
a sacred object because it s the place where the imam stands on to lead the prayer. The Quran is more
sacred than other objects. Muslims treat the holy book Quran as something very valuable because it s

18. Factors that Can Affect Voter Turnout Essay
Voting is one of the most important rights an American citizen has. If one meets the requirements of
being an American citizen, and the age of 18 then he or she can vote. While the right to vote is
available to a lot of individuals in the United States it is surprising to know that about 58.2% of
Americans voted in last year s presidential election. So only little over of half of eligible voters voted.
One might ask who makes up that 58 percent of Americans. By researching and analyzing data it
seems that voter turnout can be categorized by state, race and gender. According to the United States

higher eligible voter turnout rates. Looking ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The amount of times a candidate campaigns in a state could have an impact on the voters. Campaigns
built on mobilizing and rallying up certain areas will in turn have an impact on who votes. While
states are a good place to start analyzing who votes they cannot fully show who votes when it comes
to general elections. When it comes to race in America, it is usually assumed that the highest
demographic of voters stem from whites. This statement is very true though. According to the Roper
Center of public opinion archives, White Americans made up 73 percent of the national vote, this was
followed up by Blacks with 13 percent, Hispanics with 10, Asians with 3, and other races coming in
with 2. Whites still make up the majority of American votes. It is important to know that falls in line
with the racial diversity of the country. Though if one incorporates the data from above about the
states with the highest voter turnout rate, and compare the rates with the racial demographics if the
state, one would see that there is a pattern. All those states besides Colorado have really low

In the lawsuit filed by the creditors in order to recover their money, there are a few legal issues. They
major question here is whose assets can the creditors go after Double J Branding, Jana, or Jamal?
More in depth questions that need to be answered for this lawsuit are was the limited partnership valid
and was Jamal considered the limited partner at the time of the transaction? Also did the loan officer
and real estate agent believe in good faith that Jamal was a general partner at the time of the
transaction? Many rules are included and must be followed in order for a limited partnership to be
valid and to work properly. A limited partnership is a type of partnership that has two types of partners
a general partner and a limited partner. The general partner of a limited partnership invests capital and

their capital contributions but they are not personally liable.

24. Epicurean Vs Lucretius Analysis
In contrast, the Epicurean, Lucretius, establishes the idea of order as arising from chaos, manifested
through atoms and their motions in space. As opposed to Plato, Lucretius provides a naturalistic
explanation of universal phenomena by reconciling Parmenidean reasoning with experience where the
world is eternal and has unity, consisting of many atoms and empty space or the great inane . In effect,
Lucretius illustrates the creation of the material universe as a result of the union of elementary
particles that had existed for eternity rather than the divine act of a creator. As such, all objects and
structures are seen to be formed by the combination of atoms and their chaotic motions in space.
Hence, the unity in the uniformity of the atoms

10 Ways You Didn t know You Are Losing Your hair
Losing hair can be an annoying experience for a lot of people, and is a more common thing than you
might think.
Nevertheless, many of us don t take the time to check out why our hair is falling out, and find out if
anything can be done to reverse the effects.
Most of these scenarios bring about a condition called Telogen effluvium, whereby your hair falls out
because of a stressful event. In effect, your body decides to conserve its energy in order to survive,
and turns off the parts that grow your hair, causing it to fall out. Telogen effluvium is usually
reversible. With that in mind, let s look at some of the circumstances that can cause this hair loss.

08.Childbirth
Giving birth is one of the most tense events the human body encounters, and it makes sense that a
woman s body can go into survival mode because of this. Focussed on getting through the experience
alive, a woman s body can turn off energy usually directed at hair growth, causing hair loss a few
months down the road.
With the birth of a baby (and the hormonal changes that accompany birth), a greater number of hairs
than normal enter the resting phase. Since the resting phase is followed by hair fall (and regrowth),
new mothers will encounter more than normal hair loss once the resting phase ends.
After birth hair loss usually starts at around three months after birth. The amount of time between
childbirth and the onset of shedding accord to the length of the resting phase of hair growth (between
1 and 6 months, with an average of three months). The hair loss can seem more excess if your hair
grew much more than normal during pregnancy, or if you have long hair. Most women will return to
their usual hair growth cycle within six months, or between 6 and 12 months after birth.

to explain that the mind is tyrannized over by its own unifying instinct , meaning that people want to

society. Man Thinking is the person who steps out of the box that society has put them in and refuses

of the views of worship is called the Unitarian view. The Unitarian view is the common practice of

concepts include, going to church, singing psalms and hymns to God, interceding for the world, listen
to a sermon, offering money, time and talents to God. After all, these actions of worship are simply
part of traditions, without the substance Jesus Christ s redemption. It is in a sense going through the
motion, without the relevance of the Holy Spirit.
Trinitarian view, on the other hand, is the participation with the Son s communion with the Father.

1. INTRODUCTION
NFC is an extension of RFID (Radio Frequency Identification). RFID combines the interface of a
smart card and a reader into a single device.
NFC is a short range wireless technology that provides secured two way interaction between
electronic devices. Here, the communications are established in a simple way i.e. it does not require
any special set up by the users which is required for many wireless communication technologies. NFC
provides users the contactless communication i.e. access digital content and connect electronic devices
together with in a distance of about 4 to 5 centimeters. As no physical connections are required for
near field communication, the connection becomes more reliable.
NFC allows users to share the content or the data between two electronic devices, pay bills wirelessly
or even use their cell phone as an electronic travelling ticket on existing contactless infrastructure
which is already in use for public transportations.
The significant advantage over NFC is the shorter set up time. For Bluetooth we need to set up manual
configurations, instead of that the connection between NFC devices can be established at once and
quickly. NFC, due to its shorter range provides a higher security than Bluetooth. Thus it makes NFC
suitable for crowded areas where correlating a signal with its transmitting physical device might
otherwise prove impossible.

Introduction Economic models which measure changes in costs and revenues as the volume of activity
increase can be complex. However, for the purpose of managerial decision making it is possible to
simplify these models in a way that makes them easy to use and therefore more readily useful to the
average manager. In this case, cost volume profit analysis is simple, with its assumption of output as
the only revenue and cost driver, and linear revenue and cost relationships. it provides minimum
values in more complex decision making cases. Cost volume profit analysis examines the

revenue and costs are used, and then single product or service would be analyzed. The strength of
CVP lies in the way that it removes many of the complications of the real world in order to provide a
sharp focus on the financial impact of decisions. This makes the CVP both simple to apply and easy to
understand. In the year of 2001, Yunker, J. (2001) have declared that CVP analysis can not only be

accounting and finance literature on CVP analysis under uncertainly and the economic literature on

42. Michael Vick As A Professional Football Player
Most people know of Michael Vick as a professional football player. But in 2007, he created national
attention for something other than his athletic ability. He was accused and convicted of running a
professional dog fighting ring, and he d torture the dogs that proved themselves weak and bad fighters.
It was bad enough he was committing these crimes, but to be representing the country as a highly paid
athletem, led national controversy, and with that, discussions of the ethical issues surrounding the
matter. People (fans) think he got off lucky, givin his predicament of being wealthy and one of the
greatest football players of all time. People believe that Michael Vick should ve received a worse
punishment for his operation, which included the killing of dogs who proved themselves weak. It s
very possible that Michael Vick got off because he s rich, famous, and most likely well liked, despite
his personal history. Most people feel compelled to believe that if he was an ordinary citizen, his short
prison sentence would ve been a lengthier one. Michael Vick lost a lot of fans from his horrendous
acts and people didn t want to see him in a place other than jail for his heinous crimes. In August
2007, Vick pleaded to federal felony charges and served 21 months in prison, followed by two months
in home confinement. Vick filed for Chapter 11 bankruptcy after being hurt financially by the loss of
his NFL salary, product endorsement deals, and financial mismanagement.

A Mother s Struggle

desires for each individual. Every family member, adults and children, should be given the best chance

44. The Relationship Between Race And Educational Expectations...
This bibliography is a collection of articles that illustrate the story of Cape Town, South Africa,
namely, that race considerations in one fashion or another permeate every facet and corner of the
country s life. It appears almost impossible for South Africans of any color ever to get away, or to
remove themselves, from this issue, although obviously the reality of race relations does not bear on
all groups equally or in exactly the same manner. Sadly, these same issues are a problem within the
United States as well. Although there are currently no peer reviewed articles regarding this same topic
within places like Ferguson, Missouri, more research is warranted for a closer look at race relations in
these areas.
Education
This study examined the relationship between race and educational expectations between parents and
their children. Specifically, a longitudinal data set focused on educational expectations among black
(African), colored (mixed) and white (European ancestry) parents and their children in Cape Town,
South Africa. Researchers found that there is a strong relationship between the educational expectation
among parents and children regardless of race, although the black parents and children had higher
expectations than the other races, once socioeconomic factors were controlled for. Also, parents and
children tend to agree more about the expectations and have a stronger correlation to the white and
colored races. They suggest that this is due to the desire for
