Review of Movies, In Time and Time Will Salas
The movie In Time shows a world where people are genetically engineered with a specifically limited
amount of time to live. Digital clocks on their forearm show one chronological year, which begins
ticking down at age 25, while they physically stop aging at the same age. When your time expires, you
die instantly. In this world, time is the universal currency and everything you do requires and is
rewarded with time. There are two primary time zones, based on the wealth, or time owned, of its
population. Dayton, which is poor, and New Greenwich, the wealthiest. Will, a 28 year old factory
worker from poorer Dayton saves Henry, a time wealthy New Greenwich citizen, from an attempted
robbery and murder by a gang called the Minute Men. Once safe, Henry explains to Will the truth
behind wealth: there is enough time for everyone to live a long life, but New Greenwich citizens take
most of the time and store it so they can be immortal. To ensure their position, wealthier districts raise
the cost of living, impoverishing everyone else. Henry states: For a few to be immortal, many must
die. Henry gives sleeping Will most of his time, leaving a cryptic note: Don t waste my time. This
helps Will finally realizes what Henry meant all along, and was able to understand and comprehend
his private language and personal code philosophized as discussed by the philosopher Ludwig
Wittgenstein.
In the movie In Time Will Salas is a low income factory worker who lives

Loretta Lynn The Pill Analysis
Oral birth control in the United States has a long history of controversy. For many years after it was
legalized for married couples it was still considered taboo to talk about. So of course, Loretta Lynn,
appropriately named Queen of Country, wrote and performed a song about it. This spunky, out spoken,
record setting country goddess saw absolutely no qualm when it came to discussing, the pill .
Although this ground breaking song on the birth control forefront might seem revolutionary, it was
nothing new for an artist like Lynn, who characteristically wrote songs about the hushed aspects of
domestic life. Loretta Lynn s song, The Pill , pushed social boundaries in the 1970 s by encouraging
married women, especially in rural areas, to take control of their lives with the use of oral birth
control. Lynn did so by informing rural women of the normalcy of oral birth control. Loretta Lynn was
born Loretta Webb on April 14, 1932, in Butcher Hollow, Kentucky. Lynn grew up in a small poor
Appalachian coal mining community and was the second of eight children. Loretta s career began
when she started singing in church as a child. When she was 16, she married Oliver Lynn. The couple
soon moved to Custer, Washington. During their first four years in Washington Lynn has four children,
Betty Sue, Jack Benny, Ernest Ray and Clara Marie. Lynn was still passionate about music and began
to play at local venues. By 1960, she had released her first single, I m a Honky Tonk Girl. She moved
to Nashville, where she continued to perform and promote her music. Moving to Nashville was
arguably one of Lynn s best decisions. That is where she met one of her best friends and role models,
Patsy Cline, as well as find fame and recognition there. During her career Lynn has garnered an
impressive release of more than 160 songs, 60 albums, a total sale of 45 million records, ten Number 1
albums and sixteen Number 1 singles on the country charts, and was the first women to win the the
CMA s Entertainer of The Year. Loretta Lynn s most popular song, The Pill , was written about a
married woman taking birth control. Today, this a common occurrence for American women.
However, in 1975, there was a lot of controversy still surrounding the

The Coca Cola Company is the world s largest beverage manufacturer, distributor and is the leading

has become the most popular and biggest selling soft drink in universe. The company produces more
than five hundred different brands around the world, which helps to satisfy needs of its highly
diversified target market. The Coca Cola started to operate a franchised distribution system three years

In fact, CCBU buys high fructose corn syrup as its ingredient inside the United States and sucrose

sugar, commonly available in an open market of the country. Thus the power of suppliers is low, as the
company can buy sucrose instead of fructose. However, if sugar becomes too expensive, the Coca
Cola Bottlers Uzbekistan, Ltd. can buy corn syrup instead. Threat of substitution: Median to high
pressure Large numbers of substitutes are available in local market of Uzbekistan like tea, juice, water,
coffee, etc. In fact, Coca Cola competes with a number of local beverage firms, for instance Arktika
Bottlers, Baraka, Jus n Joy, Silver Water and others. While those companies are far from being as
recognizable as Coke, they offer products for substantially lower prices. Thus, switching cost of the
substitute products is very low so consumers can easily shift towards the substitute products, but again
there are a huge number of potential customers of Coca Cola which are not likely to change the
product. And the quality of the cheaper products is lower as well. Examples of substitute beverage

The Judicial Arms Of The Eu
The Court of Justice of the European Union and the General Court are the judicial arms of the EU .
Critically analyse with reference to the function, personnel and procedures of these two EU courts.
Since the UK joined the EU in 1973 under Edward Heath the UK legal system has been inferior to the
EU legal system. The EU s main judicial arms are the Court of the Justice of the European Union
(CJEU) which was established under the European Coal and Steel Community Treaty (1951) and the
General Court (GC) which was established in 1986. The General Court was originally referred to as
the Court of First Instance however has since been renamed under the Lisbon Treaty (2009) as the GC
in which cases can be appealed to the CJEU but only on points of law. The EU is only able to legislate
on areas where it is empowered to by treaties for example on areas such as trade, competition, single
market legislation, agriculture and justice.
The CJEU is the highest court in the EU. It is comprised of one judge from each member state and is
supported by eight Advocate Generals whose role it is to provide an impartial and public opinion on
the case brought before the CJEU. The primary function of the CJEU is to ensure that the
interpretation and application of the EU law established by treaties is observed (Treaty of Rome:
1958). This is a necessity as the homogenous responsibility of the EU needs to be maintained as to
insure community relationships between member states. The GC is a branch

WWI started in 1914 and ended in 1918, it was sparked by the assassination of Archduke Ferdinand
his wife. There was four main causes of WWI and they were militarism, alliances, imperialism, and
nationalism, but today I will just tell you how we got involved with it and what happened during
WWI. When WWI started in 1914 and men went to war the women and most children stayed behind
and the women had take over the men s jobs while still doing there daily routine so the women felt
like they had more of a say in America . Also while the men were off fighting many were killed not

However, successful and effective implementation of these techniques depend on a number of factors
key among them being organizational structure, organizational culture as well as the decision making
strategies within an organization. Organizational structure plays an important role in the
implementation of different types of strategies including cybersecurity. This is because the structure of
an organization establishes a clear understanding of the processes required to achieve a given strategy.
Organizational structure describes an entity s internal pattern of communication, authority and
relationships. It clearly outlines the manner in which power and authority within an organization is
granted and shared as well as the role that different members of an organization should play.
Organization structures often vary from one organization to another. This variation often depends on
the size of the business, the industry within which the company is operating in to mention but a few.
This means that the cybersecurity functions and mandate often vary from one organization to another.
Implementation of cybersecurity is likely to be successful in organizations whose structure is formal
and well defined as opposed to those with an informal structure. Within a formal organizational
structure, the roles and responsibilities of organizational leaders and other members of the
organizations are usually well articulated. A formal

The Way Of The Ways
The Way to The Ways I Modi the ways, the modes, the positions, the postures with such a simple
name, I was surprised to realize that somehow this work had never crossed my path in all these years
of studying the history of art. Even an advanced course focusing on fetishism, in art that is, failed to
reveal to me the frankness of these drawings, while exposing me to similar subjects in arts ranging
from the primitive, as produced by the first peoples of the Earth, to contemporary photography. These
drawings were produced by Giulio Romano, a student of Raphael, in the early 1520s and subsequently
engraved and printed by Marcantonio Raimondi. They form a series of sixteen images depicting a
variety of sexual positions ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Let us trace the way to I Modi. While one could begin this story with a look all the way back to so
called primitive art which often reflected an interest in human sexuality, if only based on concerns
about fertility it may be more appropriate to begin with a culture whose traditions have been clearly
identified as having found their way into the ancient Roman psyche. That is, the culture of ancient
Egypt. An example of this interest in human sexuality, and an expression of it in art, is Min, the
Egyptian god of male fertility. Representing masculine virility, Min was usually portrayed with an
erect penis, which he typically grasped in his left hand. As the ancient Romans were connected to
certain areas of what is now known as Egypt, and as it has been shown that they adopted the worship
of the Egyptian goddess Isis sometime in the first century BC, it may be reasonable to assume that
they were familiar with such gods as Min, and may have even discovered some of these
aforementioned depictions. As one continues to trace the history of sexuality and the erotic image
leading up to the production of Giulio Romano s I Modi, a logical stop along the journey would be
ancient Greece. As time and space limit the scope of this analysis, direct examples from the art and
culture of this region will not be examined. However, the contribution of the Greeks to the art,

The Importance Of Indentured Servants
Early colonists relied heavily on farming to sustain life in the New World, for self sustainability as
well as for trade with Native Americans and England. As farms and plantation grew, so did the need
for manual labor. Originally, the land owners adopted England s tradition of indentured servant.
Indentured servants were people that would pay their debts with time and labor. For example, the
lower class of the population in England, wanting to travel to the new world, would sign an indenture
agreement stating that if a higher class citizen would fund their travels, they would work for the
landowner for an agreed upon amount of time once they arrived. At the end of their servitude, they
would be released and provided the basic means of survival.

Moreover, the social skills obtained from our application enable CBU s Nurse Practitioners to have a
positive impact for God s Kingdom through the connections and interactions they have with patients
and hospital colleagues. They are provided the chance to live out and share the gospel.
In a global context, our capstone project will also have a social impact by providing any university
with real life experience for their students. Students will have the chance to enter their work
environment with more preparation and comfort. They will also be able to receive feedback from their
patients so that they can improve upon their interactions with patients. Ultimately, this will lead to
higher satisfaction for patients and hospitals. Our project can provide the health care system with more
satisfaction among patients and improved analytical skills among Nurse Practitioners. Our capstone
project also has a major economic impact on the local community and in a global context. In the local
community, we are providing free software for CBU s Nurse Practitioner professors and students to
utilize. From prior research for developing our capstone project, we discovered that the hospital

Examples Of Mental Illness In The Tell Tale Heart
Schizophrenia Character Diagnosis
Edgar Allan Poe is a world renowned author, whose works are taught in schools and universities
across the United States and the world. His works of literature encompasses an array of complex and
diverse characters. Poe s writing often explored the mysterious topic of mental illness. One character
that exhibits a mental illness is the narrator in one of his most popular and well known short stories.
The narrator of Edgar Allan Poe s short story The Tell Tale Heart suffers from the mental illness
schizophrenia, which in turn causes him to fixate on murdering the old man and motivates his actions
throughout the whole story.
In the story The Tell Tale Heart the narrator tries to convince the readers that he is not insane by
explaining how well thought out his pre meditated murder plan is. The narrator then explains how he
sneaks into the old man s room to shine a beam of light from a lantern on the eye of the old man. He

Catatonia is associated with mental diseases, usually schizophrenia, and involves the subject to be
abnormally still. The narrator of the story for sure has this symptom. In the story he states It took me
an hour to place my whole head within the opening so far that I could see him as he lay upon his bed
(Poe). A person without the symptom catatonia would have quickly became bored or would have
opened the door quicker and hoped that the old man did not wake from his slumber. Later on in the
story he claims [After awakening the old man] I kept quite still and said nothing. For a whole hour I
did not move a muscle, and in the meantime I did not hear him lie down (Poe). This provides another
example of him being immobile for an extremely long period of time. His catatonia is obviously not in
the advanced stage because he is only immobile for a short period of time. In the advanced stages
people could possibly become still for days, weeks, and even

The Harm In Hate Speech Analysis
Jeremy Waldron argues in favor of hate speech restrictions in his book The Harm in Hate Speech . He
presents the central argument that vulnerable minorities are in need of hate speech regulation to
protect them from harm. Another argument he presents is that such regulation must be a content based
regulation, as opposed to a time, place, and manner restriction that is usually employed to prevent
certain kinds of speech. A final argument he uses is that speech is the harmful action, rather than
speech simply causing harmful actions. I do not find his arguments to be compelling enough reasons
to support restricting free speech with hate speech laws.
Waldron s central argument is that vulnerable minorities need and deserve government ... Show more

He believes that since hate speech legislation is seen as acceptable and necessary in most developed
nations that it is therefore the principles are also applicable to the United States. He openly admits that
he does not accept any assumptions that make up free speech jurisprudence, because they are contrary
to his views on how society needs to address hateful speech. The assumptions he rejects include the
tendency for truth to prevail in the marketplace of ideas, the effectiveness of counter speech, and that
content based restrictions are bad.
However, these ideas cannot be simply dismissed because they are central to the American perspective
on the necessity of hate speech legislation. Waldron fails to address in an effective way why he is able
to dismiss these central ideas. In doing so, he is practically admitting to the reader that his ideas are
based outside of the framework of the reality of American free speech tradition. The strength of his
argument suffers from the fact that his argument is not applicable to the reality of American society s
views on free speech.
Waldron also argues that the harms caused by hate speech are constituted by speech, rather than
merely caused by speech (166). He believes that the element that damages the dignity and assurance
of vulnerable minorities is the speech itself, not actions that they speech promotes or the way that it is

The Social Scientist Phrase, Presentation Of Self, And Self
In this modern day world, people may continuously confuse similarly used words, and often think they
mean the same thing. However, in reality they don t. Nonetheless, the main focus words are identity,
and self. Identity to me is similar to the social scientist phrase presentation of self , and what that
means is how a person wants to present themselves to others. Similar to actors, and singers that are
constructively criticized by their image, so they can better it to wow their fans. In contrast to self,
which is being true to who you are. As seen in When the Emperor was Divine the family struggle with
knowing their self, and identity. The family begins as middle upper class, materialistic people in
California that are nameless with a sense of family unity, and self worth. Eventually transforming to
isolated, exhausted, loss souls having to wear ID numbers on their collar (p. 24). Starting off with the
father, which is a very symbolic character since he is only spoken about in memories, and letters. Even
so far away his family describes him as loving, caring, and warm hearted. The children would say Our
father, the father we remembered, and had dreamed of, almost nightly, all through the years of the war,
was handsome and strong. He moved quickly, surely, with his head held high in the air. He liked to
draw for us. He liked to sing for us. He liked to laugh (p. 132). All to show that to them he was

The Rise Of Self Service Machines
Marx and Technology Karl Marx s theories were written in the 19th century, it is debated whether they
are applicable to the issues of modern society. This essay seeks to explore the key ideas of Marx and
apply them to the chosen contemporary concern of the rise of self service machines. Primarily it will
give an in depth description of his idea of human nature and the key ideas surrounding Marxist theory.
Secondly, it will explain the current issue and argue the rise of technology through the eyes of Marx
by relating to his main concepts. Marx s views on human nature make up the philosophical element of
his ideas. He believed human beings define themselves primarily through their labouring activity.
Labour is therefore what they live for, it defines human beings and also performs functions by
connecting them to their existence. This is achieved in three senses which Marx outlined (Morrison,
2006). Firstly individuals exert control over nature which makes them active in history, rather than
passive. Secondly, labour provides the necessities a human requires to live, without it they would have
no food, shelter or clothing and would not exist. Thirdly Marx believed labour allows an individual to
define themselves. Through labour humans feel in control of their survival and are confirmed in their
own existence (Morrison, p. 120). The essence of the individual is labour, it is central to human
development. Humans still hold the power of creativity but the nature of the capitalist

The Bolsheviks and Marxism
Analyzing the Bolshevik State compared to Marxism can be difficult because Marx, Engels and their
followers gave relatively little thought to what the state would look like after a socialist revolution.
Engels famously wrote, the state is not abolished, it withers away, which highlights the hazy and
unfixed nature of Marx and Engle s writings on the ultimate, classless society they envisioned.
Further, what they did write is subject to the differing interpretations by numerous socialist parties all
claiming to be Marxist. As discussed earlier, Lenin claimed he simply reshaped Marxism to fit the
conditions of Russia. Others argue his interpretation was not true Marxism at all. However, the basic
principles of a socialist state in the eyes of Marx s are outlined in the Communist Manifesto as
follows: 1. Abolition of property in land and application of all rents of land to public purposes.
2. A heavy progressive or graduated income tax.
3. Abolition of all rights of inheritance.
4. Confiscation of the property of all emigrants and rebels.
5. Centralization of credit in the hands of the state, by means of a national bank with State capital and
an exclusive monopoly.
6. Centralization of the means of communication and transport in the hands of the State.
7. Extension of factories and instruments of production owned by the State; the bringing into
cultivation of waste lands, and the improvement of the soil generally in accordance with a common
plan.

making many different kinds of maps. Throughout the book, she creates maps of places like her
bedroom, her dog s treasure map, and her dog s favorite places. The book talks about important things
that need to be added to a map, which I find extremely helpful. This is one reason I think this book is

Age Discrimination In Employment Act (ADEA)
I m responding to question 1 about the displacement of the 52 year old male manager. In this case, the
employer might have violated the Age Discrimination in Employment Act (ADEA), which protects
against age based discrimination on employees aged 40 and above. ADEA applies if the company has
more than 20 employees and the business activities affect interstate commerce. However, to prove that
the employer has indeed violated ADEA, the employee must show that age was the sole reason for his
layoff. This could prove difficult in court though, because under ADEA, the plaintiff bears the burden
of proof. If his supervisor made no open comments about him being too old, it could be very difficult

The Importance Of Music In The High School Band Room
Albert Schweitzer once said, There are two means of refuge from the miseries of life: music and cats.
While cats are really great, music can be a safe haven for many people; I myself feel most at home
when surrounded by music. The best place for me to have this safety, security and acceptance is in the
high school band room. For most, it is just a room filled with instruments and kids who don t want to
go to gym; but the memories and friends made there are what make that room so special. The band
room during class or a performance day is almost always full of noise and activity. People are playing
instruments, whether they are practicing difficult sixteenth note runs or just making noise to warm up.
The drum line is usually practicing their parts as loud as possible, and the volume of the room just
continues to rise. Those who aren t playing are usually having conversations, and sometimes have to
yell so their friend can hear their words. Every bit of sound is amplified by the slanted ceiling, it s
main function to propel sound forwards. The walls are covered in motivational posters, most of them
handmade by former band kids; the instrument lockers and all of the shelves are crowded with every
trophy earned by the band over the years like a massive showcase. There is a thrum of energy in it all,
and it is electrifying, sending a jolt of excitement before a game, or helping to motivate us for the long
practice ahead. Whenever I have a bad day, walking into the band room

Advantages And Disadvantages Of Photovoltaics
Photovoltaics. Photovoltaic panels that conform to curved or otherwise irregular surfaces offer
numerous advantages over the heavy and rigid panels that account for most of today s photovoltaic

Language Planning and Language Development
LANGUAGE PLANNING AND LANGUAGE DEVELOPMENT
Language is a typically human phenomenon. In moving from the natural being of animal existence to
the cultural being of human existence, language plays the decisive role. Language gives a sense of
identity to an individual as well as a social group and, in the process, creates multiple identities. The
maintenance, merger, clash and change in identities based on and reflected in the language change has
prompted linguists, philosophers, psychologists, sociologists, anthropologists and political scientists to
study language in its multifarious dimensions. Since economic and societal planning have to, of
necessity, take into account the context of planning, there is no wonder that worldwide ... Show more

5. Illiteracy is a major problem of the country (Pattanayak 1974). Out of 800 million illiterates in the
world, India is credited to have 400 million . if in eradicating illiteracy the intention is to move from a
culture of silence to a culture of thinking participation and the emphasis is on the creation of an
intelligent task force for economic and industrial development, then, urgent and bold steps need to be
taken in this area. Literacy in a multilingual must be based on the expressed needs of a people3.
Secondly, the language of literacy has to be determined keeping in view the various contexts of
language use and strategies linking the languages of literacy with that of education and administration.
It would thus be quite clear that whether it is in the field of language use in education, language use in
administration or in mass media, there is a constant need to weigh alternatives and plan action. The
examples cited above are as true of any multilingual country as they are of India. Such examples not
only establish the necessity for language planning, but also the need to analyse its process and
product.
Before talking about language planning, one must understand the motivation and mechanisms of
planning. Planning is not merely a catalogue of resources and the organisation and mobilization of

Three Muslim Themes
This week s reading were very eye opening for me because it brought up subjects that I do not think
about often, but there was three themes in particular that stand out in helping me understand Arab
Muslims better. One theme is doing research about the Muslim religion. As Rheam suggested,
researching about the Muslim culture would could give you some background knowledge about a
client s culture and possibly information about where a client is coming from (Rheam Dr. Garzon,
personal communication, n.d.). For instance, some Arab and Muslim communities are tribal in nature
where the small communities function as a family to some extent. Therefore, a counselor approaches a
Muslim Client as needing independence might go against his or her beliefs.

Boleking And Poverty In India
India is home to over 1.2 billion people with 4 percent of the population being orphans.
India is overloaded with orphans and statistics show that the problem is not going to be getting any
better anytime soon. There are many factors that contribute to the reasoning behind the amount of
orphans, like poverty and some kids being forced into sex trafficking and prostitution.
There are over 20 million orphans in in India because the country is very poor, some families simply
can t support a child so they abandoned them, and some children are unfortunately forced into sex
trafficking. There are many reasons that India alone has 20 million orphans in their country but by far
the most dominant factor is poverty. Around 67 percent of India s population lives below the poverty
line (10 Facts about Poverty in India). Parents simply cannot afford to provide for themselves or for
their children. Many children lack basic life necessities like nutrition, shelter, and care from their
parents, not because their parents don t love them, but because most of the time parents cannot afford
anything. (5 terrible causes of the Orphan Crisis). 46 percent of children under the age of 5 are
malnourished. 31 percent of infants are born with low birth weight. All children in India are
underweight by 18 percent or more (Facts on Children in India). Theses truly statistics show how
badly the country is suffering, and even worse how the children are suffering. Although in some rare
cases parents

London Blitz Research Paper
World War 2 lead to the destruction of many cities throughout the world. Some of the cities include
Berlin, Tokyo, and many others. One city that would be hit hard would be London. What would be
known as The Blitz would try to cripple London into submission. The Battle of Britain would take
place during the time of these raids. London would be bombed countless times by the Nazi s hoping
for a surrender. London fearing of invasion by the Nazi s would move a great deal of artwork and,
children out of the city s museums and to other locations for protection. London would preserve and
defeat the Nazi s proving they could never invade Britain. London would rebuild from the ruins.
Architects and planners saw this as an opportunity for remodelling ... Show more content on

Strategic bombing would be a major factor in the destruction of London. More than 500,000 people
would die because of strategic bombing campaigns. Blitzkrieg is also known as The Blitz would be a
major tactic used by the Nazi s. They would use this tactic to invade neighboring countries. By the
time the blitz came upon Britain the Nazi s conquered most of Europe. The Nazi s planned to attack
Britain and invade. They would try to cripple the British defenses. While trying to bombard their
defenses they accidentally attacked a civilian area which caused uproar with the British people. Many
people thought raids like this would not stop so they had a mass migration of children and artwork.
The Nazi s began bombing London in September of 1940 and this would last until May of 1941. The
Battle of Britain was going on around the same time. This battle would not only be important because
it would prove to the Nazi s that they could not invade Britain, but this would mark Hitler s first defeat
in World War 2. This would be a landmark battle because not only was this battle not fought on land,
but for this first time in human history the whole battle was fought in the skies. One of the greatest
military inventions would come out of this battle was radar. Radar was only in the infancy before the
battle, but would become vital in the allies victory in the war. London by the end of the war was in
need of major reconstruction. Many would see this as an opportunity to rebuild and grow the city like
never before. They would introduce satellite towns and high rise buildings. They would build the
Barbican which would hold office blocks, an arts centre, a museum, housing and a school. This would
be one of the biggest reconstruction projects in European

Persuasive Essay On Guns
In 2001, 12,102 murders were caused by gun violence, 17,424 suicides from guns, 366 people died to
accidents involving guns, 316 deaths by guns had unknown reasons, and only 154 were confirmed to
be in self defense. 30,708 deaths from guns in total, and only 154 out of 30,708 deaths were self
defense. Those statistics are alarming. Guns are not being used with the intent to defend yourself.
Guns are being used in today s society for celebration, murders, for sport and gang activity. Guns are
used for war, by the police force and on drill teams. Guns should not be used in such instances where
citizens can harm and even kill others . They should only be utilized to protect their loved ones,
themselves and their valuables, not used as tools of murder, suicide and gang activity.
The Gun Owners Foundation says that guns save more lives than they take and prevent more injuries
than they inflict. This is not true at all, however. The usage of guns for self defense to not self defense
ratio is 1:24. For every time a gun is used in self defense, there are 24 shootings that are not. Also, the
country is deprived of 180 billion dollars per year due to gun violence. A good chunk of this money
comes from taxpayers. You re literally paying for these people s injuries that come from violence
involving firearms.
The Gun Owners Foundation says that criminals do not feel comfortable with civilians that carry
firearms. A law in a city in Florida that required at least one gun in every

Chinua Achebe s Writing A Honest And Nitty Gritty Picture...
Achebe s significant thought process in his craft is the presentation of a honest and nitty gritty picture
of Ibo society and culture. Achebe goes up against the undertaking of uncovering its different
measurements and demonstrating that Nigerian tribal culture likewise like some other culture is rich
and various, it includes a complex joining of religious formal, social and monetary elements. Things
Fall Apart is a brief and thorough record of the life in the town of Umuofia especially of Okonkwo and
his family that have experienced diverse changes inside the progression of time. Prior to the
interruption of the Europeans, the Ibo society was loosened to share the delights and distresses of each
other. In icy seasons they used to lounge around log fire warming up their bodies, moving, giggling
and singing. They had confidence in the prophets of the slopes and the holes. They had the dread of
their tribal divine beings, enchantment and of the powers of the nature. Individuals used to originate
from far and close to counsel Agabala. At gather or while devouring they used to appease the
progenitors or the divine beings, offering them their best employments and worshiping them in their
naturally peaceful and delightful way. They were extremely cordial to any meeting visitor and offered
him/her Kola nuts, which were ceremoniously broken and broke preceding any discussion. A piece of
African one of a kind culture is shown in the accompanying concentrate of the Things Fall Apart:

Japanese Pow Camps
Japanese POW Camps Cruelty is an evil process to use against someone, and especially when that
person has nothing such as the POW s captured by the Japanese during World War ll. The Japanese
military treated their prisoners of war in a disgusting fashion. The Japanese culture was often shown in
the way the prisoners were treated. They treated the prisoners not as humans but as if they were
animals only because they believed that surrender was the most disgraceful acts A person could
commit. First, an example of this cruelty is The Bataan Death March it was a forced march from
Saisai Pt. and Mariveles to Camp O Donnell. Of the 60,000 to 80,000 POW around 22,000 thousand
people died ( World War Two Japanese Prisoner of War Camps ). The 60 mile hike was littered with

because of its cruelty became known as The Death Railway. This was a horrid experience for those of
whom had to suffer in these camps for the duration of their time. First, This cruelty would lead to The
Bataan Death March becoming a major propaganda weapon for the U.S. to use against the Japanese.
Secondly, the conditions of the camps would have been horrific to endure. Finally, the Thailand

would have made things seem desperate for the prisoners. The ruthlessness and loss of life in these the

think again.
In 2014, 32,675 people were killed in motor vehicle crashes on U.S. roadways. An additional 2.3
million people were injured in crashes in 2014. (2014 Crash Data Key Findings (DOT HS 812 219),
(http://www.nhtsa.gov/NCSA). The data in 2015 through the first 9 months shows an increase.
Data collected includes all types of motor vehicle crashes and is not specifically broken down into car
crashes. Obviously, these numbers are frightening, however, most people drive throughout the day
without thinking about it. Like most people, you probably think it ll never happen to you.

Darfur Conflict
I. Introduction Almost five years have passed since Darfur, the western region of Sudan, erupted in
bloody conflict. The crisis in Darfur is not an accidental disaster, or a human catastrophe that
humanitarian intervention can reverse or solve. The conflict is as not simple as presented in the media,
which casts the conflict in terms of Arabs versus black Africans. The reality is far more muddled. It is
a human tragedy, brewing for decades, that finally erupted into a vicious cycle of violence in 2003.[1]
The Darfur conflict is not only a problem for the Sudanese, but is also a regional problem. The
conflict is threatening the stability in other regions of Sudan, and in neighboring countries like Chad,
and the Central African Republic. Looking at its nature, magnitude and internal dynamics that fuel it,
one can see that, unless it is addressed soon, the conflict has the potential to plague the whole region
with a continuous cycle of violence and lawlessness. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
As a result, regional and international actors have carried out several peace initiatives to end the
violence. The peace efforts that constitute the Darfur peace process include the N Djamena peace
negotiations of September 2003 and April 2004,[2] The Addis Ababa peace negotiations of May 2004,
[3] the Abuja peace negotiations of August 2004 May 2006,[4] and the Sirte peace negotiations of
October 2007.[5] These peace initiatives have not made substantial progress towards sustainable
peace. Since the peace efforts began in 2003, every peace effort has been followed by increased
violence, and ultimately, the peace process has failed. Therefore, the key research question that this
paper sets out to answer is: Why did the Darfur Peace Process

How Does L1 Support Literacy In L2
In this paper, I will discuss definitions of literacy, review research related to the transfer of literacy
skills, and suggest practical applications of research findings of ways Linguistics (L1) support literacy
in L2 for individuals learning English as a Second Language (ESL). Further, I will explore
instructional practices implemented as L1 is transferred to L2 knowledge base. As learning practices
for L1 and L2 are outlined, cognates of L2 will be demonstrated in this paper for further
understanding. In addition, L1 proficiency learners stem from individuals first language also known as
their mother language. L1 can be described in four acquisition stages from the following: (1) babbling
(2) one word (3) two word (4) string of words ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Literacy in L1 can support literacy in L2 in a variety of ways. Many researchers and practitioners in
ESL/Bilingual Education or ESL/BE are aware of research evidence which supports such transfer, but
research is not always applied to practice. According to Roberts (1994), literacy in L1 supports L2 by
being able to transfer the teachings to L2 students. Research shows that knowledge of alphabets and
awareness of phonological can an are strong predictors of literacy development in children being
successful (Ford, K.2005).
Lee Schaller s (1997) quantitative study examined the relationships between ELL students who
demonstrated a level of proficiency compared to ELL students basic reading skills. The study (1997)
tested two hypotheses to check reliability and validity; the hypotheses were examined from the
following: (1) a foundation of language proficiency showed learners with below average levels in L2
proficiency showed little relationship between their L1 and L2 reading ability whereas learners with
above average in L2 proficiency demonstrated a positive relationship between their L1 and L2 reading
abilities.(b) The benefit of L2 proficiency was higher than the benefit of L1 reading ability in
predicting L2 reading ability. In addition, Schaller Lee s (1997) study showed a correlation between
the two hypotheses. For example, when L2 learners obtain previous knowledge from L1 experiences,
their reading skills can potentially improve as information is

The Economic And Economic Growth Of China s Economy
2016
Coming out of a lackluster 2015, GDP growth slowed to 1.5%. Confidence of investors and
consumers was unable to make significant gains as a result of the Presidential election and global
uncertainty. The outcome of the 2016 election had a great affect on the US economy and the fiscal and
monetary policies that could be put in place. Uncertainty over taxes, regulations, and trade following
the election have led to a slowdown of growth.
Consumption and government spending both increased from the previous year. The big weaknesses
for Real GDP growth came from business investment and exports decreasing from the previous
period.
Consumption s gains were based on trends continuing from 2015 including consumer confidence
growing ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
This shows that businesses are not confident about the state of the economy and are not investing.
This leads to stagnating wages, job creation, and production, which lowers overall Real GDP.
Exports have been affected by global events. Most importantly, Brexit added to fears that the
European Union is unstable and other countries may follow the UK and leave the union. The EU is a
major trade partner of the US and China, which could disrupt global trade. Brexit has caused major
volatility in global markets as well. This could trigger consumers to stop spending and save more.
Brexit also hiked up the US dollar 6.3% against the British pound. This continues the trend from last
year of low exports and revenues in the manufacturing sector further impeding profits and limiting
their willingness to invest.
2016 monetary policy continued the trend from the previous year by keeping rates low and only
increasing rates once during the year. The Fed raised rates to a range of 0.50 0.75% in December.
Confidence in the economy is up and is anticipated to continue into 2017 with more frequent rate
hikes.
The stock market was greatly affected by the election of President Donald Trump. The S P 500 and
DJIA both fell around 4% immediately following the election, however, the market quickly rebounded
and all major indexes have recorded all time highs. Financial sector stocks

Teens s Early Puberty Stages
Puberty in teenager s early puberty stages can be effected by hormonal changes and imbalances.
Studies in high risk exposal areas of the world potential effects of related amounts of endocrine
disruptors at particular times of their developmental statuses can affect the timing of puberty.
Endocrine disrupters can be prevented during adolescent time frames by the parents purchasing
products of organic processes and keeping away from processed foods, some household chemicals,
pesticides, and plastics (Weiner, Lerner, and Easterbrooks, 2012). Low dose exposures have been
shown affect the hormonal roles in the body and, especially, in the endocrine system for women,
which can expose their uterus to estrogens that can cause breast cancer years later (Vandenberg, 2014).
Parents can read into the listings of the endocrine disruptors and effects with the NIH and CDC
websites. 2) Psychosocial development in teens: Puberty related mutations have evolved from certain
environmental settings, for example, father absence or early timing of puberty or menarche (Weiner,
Lerner, and Easterbrooks, 2012). Stressful family situations bring an onset of menarche with the girls
at an earlier age. At this stage research has seen the rapid changes of characteristics of physical
changes, substantial intellectual and expressive maturation, sexual interests and highly perceptive to
peer relations (Newman and Newman, 2014). Autonomy helps adolescents be achieved with strength

In this world, time is the universal currency and everything you do requires and is rewarded with time. There are two primary time zones, based on the wealth, or time owned, of its population. Dayton, which is poor, and New Greenwich, the wealthiest. Will, a 28 year old factory worker from poorer Dayton saves Henry, a time wealthy New Greenwich citizen, from an attempted robbery and murder by a gang called the Minute Men. Once safe, Henry explains to Will the truth behind wealth: there is enough time for everyone to live a long life, but New Greenwich citizens take most of the time and store it so they can be immortal. To ensure their position, wealthier districts raise the cost of living, impoverishing everyone else. Henry states: For a few to be immortal, many must die. Henry gives sleeping Will most of his time, leaving a cryptic note: Don t waste my time. This helps Will finally realizes what Henry meant all along, and was able to understand and comprehend his private language and personal code philosophized as discussed by the philosopher Ludwig Wittgenstein. • 3. Loretta Lynn The Pill Analysis Oral birth control in the United States has a long history of controversy. For many years after it was legalized for married couples it was still considered taboo to talk about. So of course, Loretta Lynn, appropriately named Queen of Country, wrote and performed a song about it. This spunky, out spoken, record setting country goddess saw absolutely no qualm when it came to discussing, the pill . Although this ground breaking song on the birth control forefront might seem revolutionary, it was nothing new for an artist like Lynn, who characteristically wrote songs about the hushed aspects of domestic life. Loretta Lynn s song, The Pill , pushed social boundaries in the 1970 s by encouraging married women, especially in rural areas, to take control of their lives with the use of oral birth control. Lynn did so by informing rural women of the normalcy of oral birth control. Loretta Lynn was born Loretta Webb on April 14, 1932, in Butcher Hollow, Kentucky. Lynn grew up in a small poor Appalachian coal mining community and was the second of eight children. Loretta s career began when she started singing in church as a child. When she was 16, she married Oliver Lynn. The couple soon moved to Custer, Washington. During their first four years in Washington Lynn has four children, Betty Sue, Jack Benny, Ernest Ray and Clara Marie. Lynn was still passionate about music and began to play at local venues. By 1960, she had released her first single, I m a Honky Tonk Girl. She moved to Nashville, where she continued to perform and promote her music. Moving to Nashville was arguably one of Lynn s best decisions. That is where she met one of her best friends and role models, Patsy Cline, as well as find fame and recognition there. During her career Lynn has garnered an impressive release of more than 160 songs, 60 albums, a total sale of 45 million records, ten Number 1 albums and sixteen Number 1 singles on the country charts, and was the first women to win the the CMA s Entertainer of The Year. Loretta Lynn s most popular song, The Pill , was written about a married woman taking birth control. Today, this a common occurrence for American women. Critically analyse with reference to the function, personnel and procedures of these two EU courts. Since the UK joined the EU in 1973 under Edward Heath the UK legal system has been inferior to the EU legal system. The EU s main judicial arms are the Court of the Justice of the European Union (CJEU) which was established under the European Coal and Steel Community Treaty (1951) and the General Court (GC) which was established in 1986. The General Court was originally referred to as the Court of First Instance however has since been renamed under the Lisbon Treaty (2009) as the GC in which cases can be appealed to the CJEU but only on points of law. The EU is only able to legislate on areas where it is empowered to by treaties for example on areas such as trade, competition, single market legislation, agriculture and justice. The CJEU is the highest court in the EU. It is comprised of one judge from each member state and is supported by eight Advocate Generals whose role it is to provide an impartial and public opinion on the case brought before the CJEU. The primary function of the CJEU is to ensure that the interpretation and application of the EU law established by treaties is observed (Treaty of Rome: 1958). This is because the structure of an organization establishes a clear understanding of the processes required to achieve a given strategy. Organizational structure describes an entity s internal pattern of communication, authority and relationships. It clearly outlines the manner in which power and authority within an organization is granted and shared as well as the role that different members of an organization should play. Even an advanced course focusing on fetishism, in art that is, failed to reveal to me the frankness of these drawings, while exposing me to similar subjects in arts ranging from the primitive, as produced by the first peoples of the Earth, to contemporary photography. While one could begin this story with a look all the way back to so called primitive art which often reflected an interest in human sexuality, if only based on concerns about fertility it may be more appropriate to begin with a culture whose traditions have been clearly identified as having found their way into the ancient Roman psyche. That is, the culture of ancient Egypt. An example of this interest in human sexuality, and an expression of it in art, is Min, the Egyptian god of male fertility. Representing masculine virility, Min was usually portrayed with an erect penis, which he typically grasped in his left hand. As the ancient Romans were connected to certain areas of what is now known as Egypt, and as it has been shown that they adopted the worship of the Egyptian goddess Isis sometime in the first century BC, it may be reasonable to assume that they were familiar with such gods as Min, and may have even discovered some of these aforementioned depictions. As one continues to trace the history of sexuality and the erotic image leading up to the production of Giulio Romano s I Modi, a logical stop along the journey would be ancient Greece. As time and space limit the scope of this analysis, direct examples from the art and culture of this region will not be examined. However, the contribution of the Greeks to the art, ... He presents the central argument that vulnerable minorities are in need of hate speech regulation to protect them from harm. Another argument he presents is that such regulation must be a content based regulation, as opposed to a time, place, and manner restriction that is usually employed to prevent certain kinds of speech. A final argument he uses is that speech is the harmful action, rather than speech simply causing harmful actions. I do not find his arguments to be compelling enough reasons to support restricting free speech with hate speech laws. He believes that since hate speech legislation is seen as acceptable and necessary in most developed nations that it is therefore the principles are also applicable to the United States. He openly admits that he does not accept any assumptions that make up free speech jurisprudence, because they are contrary to his views on how society needs to address hateful speech. The assumptions he rejects include the tendency for truth to prevail in the marketplace of ideas, the effectiveness of counter speech, and that content based restrictions are bad. However, these ideas cannot be simply dismissed because they are central to the American perspective on the necessity of hate speech legislation. Waldron fails to address in an effective way why he is able to dismiss these central ideas. In doing so, he is practically admitting to the reader that his ideas are based outside of the framework of the reality of American free speech tradition. The strength of his argument suffers from the fact that his argument is not applicable to the reality of American society s views on free speech. This essay seeks to explore the key ideas of Marx and apply them to the chosen contemporary concern of the rise of self service machines. Primarily it will give an in depth description of his idea of human nature and the key ideas surrounding Marxist theory. Secondly, it will explain the current issue and argue the rise of technology through the eyes of Marx by relating to his main concepts. Marx s views on human nature make up the philosophical element of his ideas. He believed human beings define themselves primarily through their labouring activity. Labour is therefore what they live for, it defines human beings and also performs functions by connecting them to their existence. This is achieved in three senses which Marx outlined (Morrison, 2006). Firstly individuals exert control over nature which makes them active in history, rather than passive. Secondly, labour provides the necessities a human requires to live, without it they would have no food, shelter or clothing and would not exist. Thirdly Marx believed labour allows an individual to define themselves. Through labour humans feel in control of their survival and are confirmed in their own existence (Morrison, p. 120). The essence of the individual is labour, it is central to human development. Humans still hold the power of creativity but the nature of the capitalist ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

The Bolsheviks and Marxism Analyzing the Bolshevik State compared to Marxism can be difficult because Marx, Engels and their followers gave relatively little thought to what the state would look like after a socialist revolution. Engels famously wrote, the state is not abolished, it withers away, which highlights the hazy and unfixed nature of Marx and Engle s writings on the ultimate, classless society they envisioned. Further, what they did write is subject to the differing interpretations by numerous socialist parties all claiming to be Marxist. As discussed earlier, Lenin claimed he simply reshaped Marxism to fit the conditions of Russia. Others argue his interpretation was not true Marxism at all. However, the basic principles of a socialist state in the eyes of Marx s are outlined in the Communist Manifesto as follows: 1. Abolition of property in land and application of all rents of land to public purposes. 2. A heavy progressive or graduated income tax. 3. Abolition of all rights of inheritance. 4. Confiscation of the property of all emigrants and rebels. 5. Centralization of credit in the hands of the state, by means of a national bank with State capital and an exclusive monopoly. 6. Those statistics are alarming. Guns are not being used with the intent to defend yourself. Guns are being used in today s society for celebration, murders, for sport and gang activity. The usage of guns for self defense to not self defense ratio is 1:24. For every time a gun is used in self defense, there are 24 shootings that are not. Also, the country is deprived of 180 billion dollars per year due to gun violence. A good chunk of this money comes from taxpayers. You re literally paying for these people s injuries that come from violence involving firearms. • 32. Darfur Conflict I. Introduction Almost five years have passed since Darfur, the western region of Sudan, erupted in bloody conflict. The crisis in Darfur is not an accidental disaster, or a human catastrophe that humanitarian intervention can reverse or solve. The conflict is as not simple as presented in the media, which casts the conflict in terms of Arabs versus black Africans. The reality is far more muddled. It is a human tragedy, brewing for decades, that finally erupted into a vicious cycle of violence in 2003.[1] The Darfur conflict is not only a problem for the Sudanese, but is also a regional problem. The conflict is threatening the stability in other regions of Sudan, and in neighboring countries like Chad, and the Central African Republic. Looking at its nature, magnitude and internal dynamics that fuel it, one can see that, unless it is addressed soon, the conflict has the potential to plague the whole region with a continuous cycle of violence and lawlessness. ... How Does L1 Support Literacy In L2 In this paper, I will discuss definitions of literacy, review research related to the transfer of literacy skills, and suggest practical applications of research findings of ways Linguistics (L1) support literacy in L2 for individuals learning English as a Second Language (ESL). Further, I will explore instructional practices implemented as L1 is transferred to L2 knowledge base. As learning practices for L1 and L2 are outlined, cognates of L2 will be demonstrated in this paper for further understanding. In addition, L1 proficiency learners stem from individuals first language also known as their mother language. Literacy in L1 can support literacy in L2 in a variety of ways. Many researchers and practitioners in ESL/Bilingual Education or ESL/BE are aware of research evidence which supports such transfer, but research is not always applied to practice. According to Roberts (1994), literacy in L1 supports L2 by being able to transfer the teachings to L2 students. Research shows that knowledge of alphabets and awareness of phonological can an are strong predictors of literacy development in children being successful (Ford, K.2005). Lee Schaller s (1997) quantitative study examined the relationships between ELL students who demonstrated a level of proficiency compared to ELL students basic reading skills. The study (1997) tested two hypotheses to check reliability and validity; the hypotheses were examined from the following: (1) a foundation of language proficiency showed learners with below average levels in L2 proficiency showed little relationship between their L1 and L2 reading ability whereas learners with above average in L2 proficiency demonstrated a positive relationship between their L1 and L2 reading abilities.(b) The benefit of L2 proficiency was higher than the benefit of L1 reading ability in predicting L2 reading ability. In addition, Schaller Lee s (1997) study showed a correlation between the two hypotheses. For example, when L2 learners obtain previous knowledge from L1 experiences, their reading skills can potentially improve as information is ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Studies in high risk exposal areas of the world potential effects of related amounts of endocrine disruptors at particular times of their developmental statuses can affect the timing of puberty. Endocrine disrupters can be prevented during adolescent time frames by the parents purchasing products of organic processes and keeping away from processed foods, some household chemicals, pesticides, and plastics (Weiner, Lerner, and Easterbrooks, 2012). Low dose exposures have been shown affect the hormonal roles in the body and, especially, in the endocrine system for women, which can expose their uterus to estrogens that can cause breast cancer years later (Vandenberg, 2014). Parents can read into the listings of the endocrine disruptors and effects with the NIH and CDC websites. 2) Psychosocial development in teens: Puberty related mutations have evolved from certain environmental settings, for example, father absence or early timing of puberty or menarche (Weiner, Lerner, and Easterbrooks, 2012).
