Benefits Of Telecommuting At The Industrial Revolution Essay
Prior to the industrial revolution, working from home was a practice that had been around for years
before the phenomenon of telecommuting was created. Telecommuting, a term coined by Jack Nilles
(Venkatraman, 1994), describes someone who works from home or a telecommuting site through the
use of the Internet and other forms of technology. Mirroring the past, many people telework today
because it is required by their occupation or simply because it is convenient. Whatever the reason may
be, the effects of telework as a prominent practice permit it to be considered a norm in our society.
With telecommuting becoming a fast growing ubiquitous phenomenon, it should be considered the
norm for suitable occupations (e.g. sales representative, customer service representative, and software
developer) because of the benefits it affords the employee/individual, the employer/organization, and
society.
Benefits of Telecommuting towards the Employee/Individual
Telecommuting should be the new normal because of the benefits such as autonomy, increased
productivity, and savings in time and expenses it affords the employee/individual. A major aspect of
telecommuting is that it provides individuals with autonomy or independence over their craft. The
absence of a person of authority directly monitoring an employee gives the employee the sense of
control. With this sense of autonomy placed on an individual, they are expected to discipline
themselves and dictate their work schedule at home in the

Mbuti Pygmies Research Paper
Very simply, depth perception, is the ability to see things in three dimensions and to perceive how near
or far away people and objects are. One way humans perceive depth is by having eyes that are spaced
a little bit apart, this is contrary to certain animals that tend to be prey, and have evolved so that their
eyes are on either side of their head to enable them to spot predators. Predator animals, on the other
hand, usually have eyes positioned closely together, like humans, to enable them to spot, chase, and
swoop down upon prey. The basis for depth perception is founded around the brains usage of both
monocular and binocular cues. Monocular cues are used when looking at objects with one eye closed,

Turnbull and Kenge stumbled across an interesting observation. Kenge was unable to grasp the
concept of depth perception beyond approximately one hundred feet. While standing in an opening at
the edge of the forest, Kenge did not understand what the mountains in the distant foreground were.
Not only did Kenge experience a lack of adaptation to a primary sensory complex, his culture did not
provide for adequate language skills to describe the thought processes going through his mind when
standing up close to the mountains. Later while visiting the mountains Dr. Turnbull and Kenge
observed a herd of bison in the far off distance, Kenge was unaware the type of insects he was
observing. Dr. Turnbull explained that they were actually bison and not only were they bison but they
were much larger than the ones Kenge had been exposed to throughout his life. This was pure
nonsense in Kenge s eyes, he would later have issues understanding the same concept with a boat.
Only after repeated expose to such instances did Kenge start to process the cues of depth perception
and question his limited senses that had developed throughout his early

Imperialism In The Belgian Congo
Although in some imperialism improved the lives of the native people in the Belgian Congo by
providing modern infrastructure such as schools and hospitals, to a great extent imperialism made life
worse because of its effect on nationalism and traditions as well as, the physical and emotional strain
it inflicted in the Belgian Congo.
However, imperialism helped the native Congolians by providing modern forms of infrastructure.
Before the discovery of the African Congo, life in Africa was subpar. Lifespans were much shorter,
literacy and research were foreign concepts, and transportation was a mere fantasy. Infrastructure
provided the native Congolians with schools, hospitals, and railroads, giving them improved lifestyles.
The schools provided ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

them the tools to maintain the modern lifestyles that they had developed during Belgian rule. The
Congolians were also provided with hospitals. These hospitals lengthened the lives spans of the
natives. People were less likely to suffer from medical issues and be able to recover from illnesses.
The hospitals utilized modern medicine, such things as medicines and vaccines were all created in the
scientific laboratories that were also built in Africa. These laboratories were able to also teach the
Congolians how to make discoveries that would improve their lives without the aid of the Belgians.
Some of these advances included transportation. Improved forms of transportation were also a gifts

Globalization and the Northern Territory Intervention
Globalization, a contested concept among leading theorists in its definition, chronology, and
measurement of effects, is almost certainly of a multidimensional nature if such theorists perspectives
are all taken equally into consideration. The broad phenomenon of globalization can therefore be
scrutinised more closely by separation and analysis of individual dimensions, such as its political,
economic, cultural and ecological dimensions. This approach, while allowing for a more focused
examination of the causes and effects of globalization within a single dimension, serves to highlight
the interconnectedness of each dimension. The following essay will expose the complex
interconnection between the political, economic and cultural ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net

The political dimension of globalization is evident in the harnessing of neoliberal ideology to enforce
and justify sanctions upon Indigenous communities within the Northern Territory (Craig Porter, 2006;
Scrimgeour, 2007). Several of the more contested components of the Northern Territory Intervention
were born of think tank publications, which set this neoliberal agenda (Scrimgeour, 2007).
Neoliberalism is fostered by a global network of think tanks, which are underwritten by corporate
sponsors and bring elitist ideals into the mainstream and popular opinion (Scrimgeour, 2007).
Australia s major think tanks are the Institute for Public Affairs (IPA) and the Centre for Independent
Studies (CIS), both of which receive major funding from mining companies (Scrimgeour, 2007).
Such think tanks, promoting neoliberal ideals of deregulation, liberalization, and privatisation of the
market and public assets, as well as supporting the dismantling of the welfare state, have considerable
influence on the ideology of the Government in forming policy (Scrimgeour, 2007). From 2000 to
2004, the IPA published 33 articles on Indigenous matters, most of which promoted the idea that
previous Indigenous policies of land rights and

Will light beyond red give off more heat than visible light?
Hypothesis
Yes, as the wavelength of the light increases, the light will be hotter. Red has the longest wavelength
on the visible light spectrum, so invisible light just beyond red would have a longer wavelength.
Observations
The temperature of the area just beyond the red light was consistently the highest (if sometimes tied
with the temperature in the yellow or blue light) of the four temperatures. The temperature in the
yellow light was the second highest, then blue, then the one in the shade.
The thermometer just beyond red and the thermometer in the yellow light both recorded the highest
temperature, which was 42 degrees Celsius. The thermometer in the shade recorded the lowest
temperature in the entire experiment, which was 19 degrees Celsius. ... Show more content on

The thermometer in the infrared light took consistently higher temperatures than the thermometers in
the blue light, the yellow light, and the shade. One can also conclude that light gives off heat in the
first place, as the thermometer in the shade took the lowest temperatures. Finally, on the spectrum
from blue visible light to infrared light, it appears that the longer the wavelength, the hotter the light.
Sunlight still has heat energy beyond the visible light spectrum, as seen in this experiment. The
infrared radiation just beyond red gives off more heat than light on the visible light spectrum based on
the data from this experiment.
Procedural Analysis
While conducting the experiment, it was difficult to line up the prism with the sunlight so that the ends
of the thermometers could rest only in one color of

A Rhetorical Analysis Of Budweiser s Friends Are Waiting
Budweiser® Beer Friends Are Waiting Budweiser Beer s famous TV advertisement, Friends Are
Waiting, was one of the most popular ads to air during Super Bowl 2014. The advertisement has
helped encourage people to drink responsibly by taking into consideration friends and family members
that could be affected should they choose to drive drunk. Budweiser has pulled on the heartstrings of
many through the bond of love and friendship between a man and his dog. The company uses strong
emotions to lure in its viewers but, it ultimately lacks in effective credibility and facts. Sober driving
commercials have been around for years. Many of these feature an adult, typically in their 20s or 30s,

The advertisement opens with a young man walking through his front door carrying a puppy and
saying, Welcome home buddy. From there, we watch the two grow up together. They spend their days
playing fetch, vacationing, barbecuing and even sleeping together. The two are inseparable until one
night when the owner goes out with some friends to have a good time. The camera is focused on the
case of beer one of the owner s friends is holding, implying that the group will be drinking. What
happens next is what affects the audience most, giving the commercial its strong pathos. The dog is
seen staring out the window, waiting patiently for his best friend to return to him. The waiting
continues all night long and Budweiser takes this opportunity to pause from the commercial and
display the words, For some, the waiting never ended. But we can change that. When the words exit
the screen the owner returns to his home, hugs his dog, and says, Hey! I m sorry. I decided I shouldn t
drive home last night. I stayed at Dave s. The darkness returns to the screen with the words Make a
plan to make it home. Your friends are counting on you. Budweiser uses these screens to emphasize
just how important it is to make it home, adding to its use of caring

The Purpose Of A Motion Brief
1. The purpose of a motion brief is two fold. A motion brief needs to be both educating and
persuasive. Simply put, as an attorney, you are an advocate for your client. In short, you want to set
out the applicable law and the facts of the case for the judge to take a particular action in your case in
your motion brief to be effective in your motion.
2. Generally speaking, there are many legal sources to check before drafting and filing a motion brief.
Accordingly, when drafting a motion brief the first step would be to generate a list of search terms. In
addition, you can start by first start reading secondary sources, to obtain background information on a
topic of law which is pertinent to your brief. Afterwards, you would look at controlling statutes, or
constitutional provisions to find controlling cases. Once you find legal authority to support your brief,
you would want to shepardize to verify that the legal authority has not been repealed, reversed or
otherwise changed. Next, shepardize using Case maker, Lexis Nexis, or even Westlaw. Finally, once
your research is complete, you can begin writing your brief. Furthermore, equally important when
drafting your motion brief is checking the rules of the Court that you are filing in.
3. In both a motion brief and a formal memo you would include an issue statement (legal question) to
identify the applicable law in question. Unlike a motion brief to the Court, where you would need to
be both educative and persuasive;

How Do Antitrust Policies Help Or Hurt Society
To what extent to antitrust policies help or hurt society? Please explain and specify what clauses (at
least 2 or 3 clauses) within the Sherman and Clayton Antitrust acts have protected/hurt consumers and
business from the ills of monopolies. Antitrust policies are mot harmful to society than they are
helpful. The Antitrust laws that were apparently focused on the restriction of monopolies for the
safeguarding public welfare and just prices have instead been used by the government in ways that are
more harmful to consumers than beneficial. More often than not, these laws obstruct innovation and
impede competition and free trade. The main purpose of the laws is to ensure that large corporations
do not take advantage of consumers, but in the process of maintaining this order, the government may
be restricting companies that have the potential of being beneficial for society with fair prices in the
long run. The Antitrust Acts can be seen as more of an effort to maintain and keep the doors open of
businesses that otherwise would not be able to withstand the competition of more efficient businesses.
Therefore, they can be seen more of a restriction on the development of ... Show more content on

Regulation can be seen as an interference with innovation and creativity. Rather than ensuring that a
firm does not disobey the Acts, regulation may be responsible for the inefficiency of a firm. For
example, the only individuals capable of determining the most effective and efficient methods of
managing an industry are those who are active participants in it, not individuals who are not in the
loop of managing a successful international business such as the lawmakers and politicians who
enforce these acts. The only possible and sound way to determine the best move for a firm is through
the wisdom gained with experience and intimate knowledge on the subject. Only then would

An example of my naiveté lies in the domain of biblical teachers. My ideas were rebuked in James
3:1. The Jubilee Bible translates it: My brethren, make not unto yourselves many teachers, knowing
that we shall receive the greater condemnation.
It took me a long time to piece the meaning together because I had not considered anything beyond
the surface. Many had taught me through classes and commentaries that this was merely a statement
of warning for teachers, and I accepted it because it did not conflict with anything I already knew to
be fact. This was my interpretation of it: Be careful about becoming a teacher because you will be
called to a higher judgment. A warning for teachers to be prepared and to take their work seriously, the

was misguided. Whether I understand the reasons behind the fact that I was misguided is not the issue.
I have theories that will continue to develop. The important thing here is to admit that I know I was
misguided because the Bible stood directly opposed to what I thought. According to James 1, my only
alternative is to admit that my ideas and wisdom are nothing compared to God s and fall in line with
what He teaches instead of becoming defensive, angry, or talking myself out of

Women s Struggle For Equal Rights
In pre Revolutionary France and America, Women had no political rights and were forced to rely on
men. The women were destined to live a life of a house wife, she was only seen competent enough in
society to raise and educate kids and take care of her household. In both countries, the revolution
increased the population s attention to political matters and made liberty and equality very important
to the people. Unfortunately, Women did not claim any rights during this time, but the women of the
French Revolution and the activities they were implicated in heavily influenced the movement and
struggle for equal rights. Their March on Versailles, their political clubs and pamphlets, and the
prominent women political figures were vital assets that influenced the struggle and movement for
equal rights during the 19th and 20th century in France. During that period, due to the abolition of the
censorship and the liberty to publish, some writers argued for the women s struggle for liberation and
suffrage like Judith Sargent Murray with her Essay On the Equality of the Sexes , which protested the
idea that men had greater intellectual capacities then women, As well as other French writers such as
Olympe de Gouges who wrote several plays, short stories and novels in which she expressed that
women and men are different, but this shouldn t stop them from equality under the law. Additionally,
De Gouges was the author of the Declaration of the Rights of Woman and the Female Citizen in

Before reading the text, I was thinking of working in private practice, but I am now unsure if I would
be willing to take risks associated with the private practice area. The responsibility of being solely
liable for all financial matters, accounting, administrative work, and inconsistent revenue streams is

In the world where managed care organizations are pushing for counseling sessions to be short,
employee assistance programs seem like the right fit for short term services, with three to eight
sessions being the norm. As an EAP counselor, it is essential for me to be assured of my ability to
protect my clients confidentiality. I am aware of lines being blurred when counseling, for instance, a
boss and his/her employee. I should be able to assure both parties that the information shared during
our sessions will be held to the privacy standards required of counselor and client relationships.
Committing to professional behaviors such as maintaining a strictly professional relationship, being an
attentive listener, respecting cultural differences, and advocating for my clients. I would also be
trained in working with adults, as well as children and couples since EAP services sometimes include
the family members. An asset I would like to have is some wellness and prevention training because a
focus in EAP counseling is geared towards wellness. To become an EAP counselor, I would need to
participate in continuing education training, including substance abuse and addictions counseling;
knowledge about the business world is also a necessary asset. The Employee Assistance Program
Association (EAPA) offers training classes through its local chapters (Gladding Newsome, 2018).

Doughnut Book Report
The book When you give a Dog a Doughnut was really just about a dog that wanted everything and

book, which made it an easy assignment for people like us.
The first step of the whole process was finding a recipe that would be able to be done in class on our
early release schedule. Kaitlin and I were not having the best of luck finding a recipe because most of

Essay The Debate over Same Sex Marriage
The Debate over Same Sex Marriage
Legislation is deeply entrenched in language and the continual process of interpretation. Laws are
created as a response to cultural and societal needs, wants and norms and are restructured and
interpreted as these desires and standards change over time. The importance of the words chosen and
the syntax used in order to translate society s standards into legislation are amplified over time
because they are continuously deconstructed, examined, and analyzed. As these laws are applied to
and challenged by society, policymakers must examine them and then change them through discourse
and dialogue. As current sentiments towards marriage are changing and shifting, policymakers must

In his 1996 speech against the Defense of Marriage Act, John Kerry chose to speak not only of the
legal implications of the law but took the opportunity to step back from the politics of Washington DC
and consider the human, embodied, and gendered effect of this law on our Nation. John Kerry, in 1996
and 2004, does not support a homosexual couple s right to marry yet he has spoken out against
proposed legislation which is based on the denial of a right to someone who is a homosexual. In his
speech, he criticizes the use of the word defense in the title of the act saying that if it was truly
concerned with defending marriage it would, provide for counseling, guarantee day care, and expand
protection of abused children among many other things (232). This, he argues, would be defending
marriage against that which threatens it. In order to defend, one must first be put on the defensive by
offensive and threatening actions and behaviors. Marriage is threatened by alcoholism, domestic
violence, etc. but not by the fact that two people of the same gender love each other.

The Causes Of Gas Exchange

GAS EXCHANGE

Gas exchange
Gas Exchange
Leslie A. Rouse
El Centro College
Gas Exchange
Gas exchange is defined as the process by which oxygen is transported to cells and carbon dioxide is
transported from cells (Giddens, 2013, p.161). Gas exchange in the human body occurs in the lungs
and as the primary function of the respiratory system, it exchanges two gases, oxygen and carbon
dioxide. The process of gas exchange happens as we breathe through ventilation, transport and
perfusion. As you inhale oxygen, the oxygen travels deep into the lungs until it reaches the alveoli.
Here in the alveoli oxygen and carbon dioxide diffuse across the alveolar capillary membrane. Oxygen
is able to enter into the blood while carbon dioxide is leaving the blood as waste to be exhaled from
the lungs and out of the body. This oxygenated blood is then transported throughout the body. All cells
depend on a consistent supply of oxygen and removal of waste in order to survive. A reduction or lack
of oxygen and/or buildup of waste leads to demise. For this reason, gas exchange is critical. Gas
exchange is compromised when there is impairment of ventilation, altered transport of oxygen, or
inadequate perfusion. Impaired ventilation may occur in conditions such as inadequate muscle or
nerve function to move air into the lungs, such as cervical spinal cord injury; narrowed airways from
bronchoconstriction like in asthma, or from obstruction like in chronic bronchitis; poor gas diffusion

A Patchwork Planet Character Analysis
We assume that our family members care about each other and wants nothing but the best for us,
because they are the closes people in our lives. In some cases, this is not always true. Simply because
they share the same blood, does not mean they are necessarily in your camp. In the novel, A
Patchwork Planet, through Barnaby s relationship with his family, with the members of Rent A Back
and with Martine and Pop Pop, Anne Tyler suggest that people who have your best interest at heart
manifest their care through action.
Ever since Barnaby was born, his family makes it clear that they are ashamed of him. Primarily,
Margot always looks down upon him. Even since his day of birth, because he was born late*. Also, the
fact that his parents send him away to Renascence where he is isolated from his family for twelve
months a year, indicates that Barnaby s parents do not have his wellbeing at heart (86). The result of
Barnaby s isolation affects his mindset, in other words, he is always indecisive because he allows his
family s judgments of him affect his own opinion. Moreover, during Barnaby s 30th birthday
celebration at his parents house, Margot criticizes his career: Of course he would rather work

Banning Books In Schools Essay
Thesis: Classic works of literature should not be amended or banned because the novels pertain to
pivotal moments in history and help shape literary works today.
Often, groups of people with similar interests will congregate with the intent of banning a book or

violates the First Amendment of the United States Constitution. In New York in 1949, classic works

Strongly opposing censorship, Jenkins claims, According to this perspective, children can only
respond to books by imitating what they read. If, for example, a book tells a story about a child getting
lost in a store and getting an ice cream cone when they are finally found, young readers will respond
by heading for a store so that they can get lost and have ice cream cones too. Children really have
much more complicated minds than that they aren t just passive vessels. Books are really just one

the impact that works of literature have on them to prove that the youth is more mature and sensible
than certain institutions believe them to be. By removing questionable material from books, these
institutions in which books are banned are removing all trust and confidence in readers. Hiding classic
literature from children, again, sets boundaries on their knowledge and does not allow them to
appreciate timeless works. Jenkins also says, The act of banning a book is taking a public stance to

How Did Tsar Nicholas II Create A Backwards Economy Of Russia
Introduction:
Unlike other countries having a democratic government, Russia was ruled by a monarchy, therefore
Nicholas II inherited the role of Tsar after his father passed away from kidney inflammation in 1894.
There were many reasons behind why Russia was considered as having a backwards economy and the
Russo Japanese War was a major setback for Russia. Bloody Sunday took place and shortly afterwards
Nicholas II was compelled to introduce the October Manifesto ... . Nicholas II
Tsar Nicholas II was a problem for the social, political and economic well being of the early Twentieth
Century Russia.
Russia s backwards economy:
Nicholas II was raised watching his father rule autocratically. He was not prepared by no means to
rule, and most likely took this as the best approach to ruling a country since it is how his father did.
Tsar Nicholas II refused to stray from what he knew, and more importantly what his father practised as
an autocrat whilst ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
With no workers, Russia was put under pressure as this meant no transport, schools, shops and
factories were in working order. They banded together for many destructive acts such as rioting,
stealing, street performances and destroying Tsarist authoritative symbols. This was a political issue
for Russia as workers were fighting for their rights.
October Manifesto:
Nicholas II introduced the October Manifesto on the 30th of October, 1905. Once the October
Manifesto was introduced to the people, they believed he was making a step in the right direction.
This piece of paper, written by Sergey Witte, promised political reforms after ten months of strikes, a
lot of political debate and attacks of violence. Little did the people of Russia realise that this was the
Tsar Nicholas II s plan to please, however he had no intentions of acting on this or changing his ways.

The Linguistic Situation of Bulgaria
Introduction:
In the field of linguistics language change may be credited to a variety to social, cultural and
geographical factors. However, language also has a temporal variation, which can be either long term
or short term. The study of language over time/history requires the analysis of a broad range of texts
and linguistic aspects. In order to study the history of a language, it is useful to focus on a particular
region.
The linguistic situation of Bulgaria is an immensely fascinating subject when studied in parallel with
the historical events, since languages tend to develop alongside history.
The aim of this paper is to explore the linguistic history for Bulgaria through the study of past
language changes and impact of sociolinguistics, ethnic and religious divide in order to understand the
current linguistic situation. This paper examines text from many sources, including a person with first
hand experience. By being mindful of the context and purpose for which these texts were written, we
are better able to analyze the use to the languages of Bulgarian through time. For the purpose of this
paper I will analyze pages from text that describe the political/natural history and pages that describe
the moral history in order avoid erroneous conclusions involving rhetoric and style or more seriously a
misinterpretation due to political/religious bias.
At the beginning of the 19th century, a landmark theory was proposed by a Sir William Jones

The Success Of The Moon Landing
The 1969 Apollo 11 mission, which was the first landing on the moon. This mission can be seen as a
success and/or a failure. Although not all agree it was a success due to the lives lost, it was an
accomplishment for mankind, because of the success of the actual moon landing. Due to the high
attraction of the moon landing, there were many articles on the 1969 Apollo 11 mission. Many of
these texts were very efficient in its appeals and in achieving its purpose.
In the first article, Man Takes the First Steps on the Moon, the speaker is the Times of London and
some mentioned are; Neil Armstrong, President Nixon, President Saragat of Italy, and other leaders.
The 1969 Apollo 11 mission was a success and keeping everyone on their toes. The primary audience
for this text was those who are interested in the moon landing. Its appeals to pathos were effective due
to the emotional and excitement of the moon landing. For example, ... our deep wish for a safe return
at the end of what has been a most historic scientific achievement in the history of man. This explains
how much of a breakthrough the moon landing was causing emotions of what else mankind can do.
Following this would be the appeal to ethos, That s one small step for man but one giant leap for
mankind. Having these appeals together make the impact of the accomplishment of mankind even
more of an excitement.
Following this great accomplished, a tragedy could have come. During a time of tragedy, we search

Taking a Look at the TPS Mechanism
TPS MECHANISM
Social infrastructure is mostly done at neighborhood level. Earlier it was done through land
reservation through land acquisition, but in that process increases the financial burden on ULBs. There
was also difficulties in procurement of land. So now a days ULBs are practicing the development by
keeping the flow on market hands. However there are some cases for development of city level
infrastructure through TPS mechanism. They are here taken as case studies.
After 1980 peripheral areas of Ahmedabad have been expanding rapidly. There was a huge
differentiation between population within the city limit area and the outer peripheral area because the
saturation of population within the city area and the subsequent large scale housing development in
the fringe areas. Haphazard development took place because of absence of proper infrastructure and
road network. The development in outer areas is expected to accelerate further as Ahmedabad has
become a mega city. And due to this reason, the Ahmedabad Urban Development Authority has
proposed additional 64 sq. km of urbanizable land over the next ten years in the revised development
plan (2011). The expected population is expected to reach 46 lakhs and 60 lakhs in the former
Ahmedabad Municipal Corporation (AMC) and AUDA as per the proposed plan with in a period of 10
years. Therefore it was important to ensure planned growth with good road network and infrastructure
facilities in the developing areas of the city. (TOI)

Examples Of Perseverance In The Miracle Worker
I [Annie Sullivan] know the education of this child [Helen Keller] will be the distinguishing event of
my life, if I have the brains and perseverance to accomplish it . Annie Sullivan was at first looked
down upon by her student, Helen Keller s family. They would tell Sullivan that there was no hope in
teaching Keller a blind and deaf child to properly behave and communicate. Although Sullivan faced
many obstacles while attempting to teach Keller the meaning of language, she was able to triumph
over Keller s handicaps. The non fiction drama titled The Miracle Worker written by William Gibson

others. The drama expressed that for one to succeed in ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

whatever she long for to distract Helen from disturbing them. When Helen is taking food from her

order to teach her how to properly eat. Before Annie is able to teach Helen how to sit down and have a

Annie must force utensils into Helen s hands and have her eat from her own plate, rather than one of

Program Evaluation The Educational Leadership and Policy Studies program at the University of

from conducting an action research project in a group versus completing a project alone. During our
program we learned about allowing for different formats during assessment or classroom activities.
Therefore, I believe that some students may have preferred working with a group on such a significant
project. The fact that students would be allowed to work with people from different backgrounds and
with different personality types to complete a project would equate with real world experience. The
opportunity to work with people is why the practicum is such a valuable experience. However, one
cannot carefully evaluate the practicum for this program without a brief discussion about mentors. The
mentor I chose for this program was approachable and generous with her time and knowledge. I felt
comfortable enough to ask questions or admit mistakes in order to learn. At the onset of the practicum
my mentor was just my boss. At the end of the practicum I esteemed her as a colleague and friend. I

Hunter V Moss Criticisms Essay
Certainty of subject matter and the critcisms of hunter v moss
When creating an express trust knight and knight articulated that there must be certainty of subject
matter, certainty of intention and certainty of objects.
Certainty of subject matter is where there must be an identification of the trust property and certainty
as to whom is which part of the trust property to be held. In relation to uncertainty of beneficial
interests, the trust will fail where the method of distribution is stipulated by the sethlow but cannot
take effect (Boyce v Boyce). However the trust will not fail where the method of distribution is not

Oliver J articulated the orthodox approach or rule in re London wine where property must be
segregated form a lager mass of similar property for there to be a valid trust he said To create a trust it
must be possible to ascertain with certainty not only what the interest of the beneficiary is to be but to
what property it is to attach. The mere declaration that a given number of animals out of the flock
would be held on trust would not create a trust .
This approach was followed in re Goldcorp which affirmed that property must be separately
identifiable before it can be held on a valid trust.
The contention arose with Hunter v Moss which did not follow the orthodox approach where Hunter
was entitled 50 out of moss s 1000 shares. Under the Goldcorp rule there would be no trust because
the property was not separated however Dillon J said there was a valid trust. The rationale for this
controversial decision was that it would have made no difference which 50 shares would have been
given because they were all identical. So here there was no need to segregate the property if it was
intangible.
The problem with this case is that Dillon is giving the trustee of the will who only has legal title
subject to the terms of the trust an executor status, i.e. putting him in the shoes of the sethlow. This is a
problem because the executor acquires legal

Why Should Kids Get Summer Break
Should Your Child Get A Summer Break? Do you think kids should have summer break? Summer
break gives families more time to make memories, it releases stress off of the students and teachers, it
also gives more time for events to be made. Summer break can help out on a lot. No kids would want
to stay in a hot classroom all year round when they could be outside enjoying the summer days.
The first reason why kids should have summer break is because summers are made for making
memories. According to Gary Huggins, kids need to enjoy time and vacation with their families.
Vacation is freedom for everyone, including the students and teachers. Furthermore, Huggins believes
that you can tie in what you ve learned over the year with memories you re making in the summer

An Individual s Reflexes Increase With Age
An individual s reflexes decrease with age which affects their ability to drive. The ability to make

quickly to a dangerous driving situation. It is the time an individual takes to slam on the brake or
avoid an obstruction that makes reflexes so important while driving, Geriatrics poor reflexes create
delayed reactions which ultimately increase the risk for accidents. Reflexes are needed to prevent

Analysis Of Maus By Art Spiegelman
Does any human actually want to take responsibilities for the mistakes they made? Doesn t every
human want to feel bad for themselves when they make what the consider a mistake? Many people
were traumatized by a horrific event that they were forced into, while their friends and family were all
being killed and forced to work against their will for the Nazi s. While many people were affected, not
all of them were able to fully explain how hurt they were as it was something that was not easy to talk
about for them. In a graphic novel called Maus, the author Art Spiegelman is trying to connect to his
father and understand the hardships he went through during a hard time called the Holocaust. The
author starts to talk about the Holocaust with his father and starts to learn how hard it was for his
father, Vladek and his now deceased mother, Anja. His father and mother fought to not go into the
camps until the last second, doing anything possible to stay away from them whether it meant lying or
hiding with the rest of their family. When discussing this with his father he wanted to be able to tell
his father s story for him, as he was never able to do it himself. Not only does Spiegelman just tell his
story with words, he tells it with pictures through a graphic novel, using unique techniques with the
illustrations in order to explain how broken human relationships were at this time period. Art
Spiegelman represents humans as being accustomed to animalistic behaviors as he

The Opera Rigoletto At The Metropolitan Opera
The opera Rigoletto at the Metropolitan Opera was conducted by Pablo Heras Casado. The three
principal singers were Piotr Beczala as the Duke, Zeljko Lucic as Rigoletto and Olga Peretyatko as
Gilda. This being my first opera, I was surprised by how large and grandiose the house was, which is
in sharp contrast to my typical experience when I see musicals. The production decided to place a
modern twist on the setting of the opera, rather than the original setting of 16th century Italy, the story
is placed in Las Vegas in the 20th century. The set is constructed to reflect that in the first act with a
casino scene complete with neon lights, card tables and roulette. In my opinion, this all seemed to
distract the viewer from the story and the change in setting didn t enhance the production itself. Rather
it made me think about how out of place this all was instead of focusing on the opera itself. The first
act was fairly difficult for me to suspend disbelief and get into the plot of the opera. This had much to
do with me being initially turned off by the casino as the setting for this opera. Although in later acts I
was able to move past the modern set that was only because this set became less pronounced in the
second and third acts.

cancer in the UK (Cancer Research UK, 2015). According to studies done by Cancer Research UK
42% cases of cancer in the UK are preventable.
Along with radiotherapy treatment, chemotherapy is of the most common treatment for cancer in that
it has been proven as one of the most effective. Chemotherapy kills the cancer cells by damaging them
so that they can t reproduce and spread, it uses anti cancer medicines also called cytotoxic medicines
(Macmillan Cancer Support, 2015). Although chemotherapy is an effective treatment for cancer, it
doesn t cure the patient of cancer entirely. Cancer researchers are investigating into ways in which
they can cure cancer but haven t found a cure as of yet. Chemotherapy is used only in cases if the

Inman’s Spiritual Journey In Cold Mountain by Charles Frazier
Cold Mountain is a popular book and movie written by Charles Frazier. Cold Mountain is a book
about two lovers, Inman and Ada, during the Civil War, who depart on separate journeys in hopes of
reuniting with one another. The novel is viewed as the physical journey of Inman from the Civil War
to Cold Mountain and the inner journey of Ada, but people neglect the sheer importance that Inman s
spiritual journey has on the book. Inman s physical journey is really non connected episodes that are
linked together by the thread that is Inman s spiritual sense. Inman regains his spiritual sense,
gradually, through the entire novel ending where he achieves redemption and self completeness with
his death. Inman s journey is that of a spiritual ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
In describing his own spiritual condition, he uses words like torn apart burned out empty, blasted
lonesome estranged and even dead : Inman guessed Swimmer s spells were right in saying a man s
spirit could be torn apart and cease and yet his body keep on living...He himself a case point...his
spirit, it seemed, had been burned out of him but he was yet walking. Feeling empty, however, as the
core of a big black gum tree...It seemed a poor swap to find that the only way one might keep from
fearing death was to act numb and set apart as if dead already (22). In fact, Inman doubts that he will
ever heal up and feel whole again (25). These excerpts show that Inman sees himself as spiritually
incomplete. It s also evident that Inman has a spiritual reawakening from the sheer change he makes
from the beginning of the book compared to the end. At the beginning of the book, Inman saw his
spirit as blasted away so that he had become lonesome and estranged from all around him as a sad old
heron standing pointless watch in the mudflats of a pond lacking frogs (22). Inman clearly states his
ravaged spiritual state and shows that he doesn t believe in easy answers to the problems of life like
the Christians around him who do not show a connection between their beliefs and their actions. This
type of Christian is demonstrated through Veasey, a preacher who impregnates his black lover and
tries to kill her to cover it up. At

A Brief Note On Air Traffic Control ( Atc ) Essay
4.3 VARIOUS MODULES OF DLCA 6500 : 4.3.1 Air Traffic Controller(ATC) Air traffic control
(ATC) is a service provided by ground based controllers who direct aircraft on the ground and in the
air. The primary purpose of ATC systems is to handle the aircraft downlinks and ground station
uplinks. The pilot sends some downlink messages by using MKP (Multi Functional Keypad),
CCP(Cursor Control panel) in AM. The pilot will confirm the message by pressing SEND in AFD and
it will come to ATC after pressing SEND function in AFD.RIU will then send the message to one of
the existing radios (HF, SATCOM or VHF, with the selection of the radio based on special logic
contained within the RIU). For a message to be sent over the VHF network, the radio would transmit
the VHF signals containing the downlink message. This message is then received by a VHF Remote
Ground Station .ATC may use a radar system called Secondary Surveillance Radar to downlink flight
parameters allowing radar processing: systems and therefore controllers to see various data on a flight,
including airframe unique id (24 bits encoded), indicated airspeed and flight director selected level,
amongst others.Any aircraft is required to have clearance from Ground Control. This is normally done
via VHF/UHF radio. Figure 4(b): Air Traffic Controller (ATN CM page) Figure 4(c): Air Traffic
Controller 4.3.2 Radio Interface Unit (RIU): It is Radio Interface Unit.

  • 3. Benefits Of Telecommuting At The Industrial Revolution Essay Prior to the industrial revolution, working from home was a practice that had been around for years before the phenomenon of telecommuting was created. Telecommuting, a term coined by Jack Nilles (Venkatraman, 1994), describes someone who works from home or a telecommuting site through the use of the Internet and other forms of technology. Mirroring the past, many people telework today because it is required by their occupation or simply because it is convenient. Whatever the reason may be, the effects of telework as a prominent practice permit it to be considered a norm in our society. With telecommuting becoming a fast growing ubiquitous phenomenon, it should be considered the norm for suitable occupations (e.g. sales representative, customer service representative, and software developer) because of the benefits it affords the employee/individual, the employer/organization, and society. Benefits of Telecommuting towards the Employee/Individual Telecommuting should be the new normal because of the benefits such as autonomy, increased productivity, and savings in time and expenses it affords the employee/individual. A major aspect of telecommuting is that it provides individuals with autonomy or independence over their craft. The absence of a person of authority directly monitoring an employee gives the employee the sense of control. With this sense of autonomy placed on an individual, they are expected to discipline themselves and dictate their work schedule at home in the ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 5. Mbuti Pygmies Research Paper Very simply, depth perception, is the ability to see things in three dimensions and to perceive how near or far away people and objects are. One way humans perceive depth is by having eyes that are spaced a little bit apart, this is contrary to certain animals that tend to be prey, and have evolved so that their eyes are on either side of their head to enable them to spot predators. Predator animals, on the other hand, usually have eyes positioned closely together, like humans, to enable them to spot, chase, and swoop down upon prey. The basis for depth perception is founded around the brains usage of both monocular and binocular cues. Globalization and the Northern Territory Intervention Globalization, a contested concept among leading theorists in its definition, chronology, and measurement of effects, is almost certainly of a multidimensional nature if such theorists perspectives are all taken equally into consideration. The broad phenomenon of globalization can therefore be scrutinised more closely by separation and analysis of individual dimensions, such as its political, economic, cultural and ecological dimensions. Neoliberalism is fostered by a global network of think tanks, which are underwritten by corporate sponsors and bring elitist ideals into the mainstream and popular opinion (Scrimgeour, 2007). Herschel Experiment Lab Report Corinne Foley Ms. Azuree RMS Chemistry Period 2 2 October 2017 Analysis of Herschel Experiment Testable Question Will light beyond red give off more heat than visible light? Hypothesis Yes, as the wavelength of the light increases, the light will be hotter. Red has the longest wavelength on the visible light spectrum, so invisible light just beyond red would have a longer wavelength. Observations The temperature of the area just beyond the red light was consistently the highest (if sometimes tied with the temperature in the yellow or blue light) of the four temperatures. The temperature in the yellow light was the second highest, then blue, then the one in the shade. • 10. The Purpose Of A Motion Brief 1. The purpose of a motion brief is two fold. A motion brief needs to be both educating and persuasive. Simply put, as an attorney, you are an advocate for your client. In short, you want to set out the applicable law and the facts of the case for the judge to take a particular action in your case in your motion brief to be effective in your motion. 2. Generally speaking, there are many legal sources to check before drafting and filing a motion brief. Accordingly, when drafting a motion brief the first step would be to generate a list of search terms. In addition, you can start by first start reading secondary sources, to obtain background information on a topic of law which is pertinent to your brief. Afterwards, you would look at controlling statutes, or constitutional provisions to find controlling cases. Once you find legal authority to support your brief, you would want to shepardize to verify that the legal authority has not been repealed, reversed or otherwise changed. Next, shepardize using Case maker, Lexis Nexis, or even Westlaw. Finally, once your research is complete, you can begin writing your brief. Furthermore, equally important when drafting your motion brief is checking the rules of the Court that you are filing in. 3. The Antitrust laws that were apparently focused on the restriction of monopolies for the safeguarding public welfare and just prices have instead been used by the government in ways that are more harmful to consumers than beneficial. More often than not, these laws obstruct innovation and impede competition and free trade. The main purpose of the laws is to ensure that large corporations do not take advantage of consumers, but in the process of maintaining this order, the government may be restricting companies that have the potential of being beneficial for society with fair prices in the long run. • 18. The Causes Of Gas Exchange 1 GAS EXCHANGE 4 Gas exchange Gas Exchange Leslie A. Rouse El Centro College Gas Exchange Gas exchange is defined as the process by which oxygen is transported to cells and carbon dioxide is transported from cells (Giddens, 2013, p.161). Gas exchange in the human body occurs in the lungs and as the primary function of the respiratory system, it exchanges two gases, oxygen and carbon dioxide. The process of gas exchange happens as we breathe through ventilation, transport and perfusion. As you inhale oxygen, the oxygen travels deep into the lungs until it reaches the alveoli. Here in the alveoli oxygen and carbon dioxide diffuse across the alveolar capillary membrane. Oxygen is able to enter into the blood while carbon dioxide is leaving the blood as waste to be exhaled from the lungs and out of the body. This oxygenated blood is then transported throughout the body. All cells depend on a consistent supply of oxygen and removal of waste in order to survive. A reduction or lack of oxygen and/or buildup of waste leads to demise. For this reason, gas exchange is critical. Gas exchange is compromised when there is impairment of ventilation, altered transport of oxygen, or inadequate perfusion. Impaired ventilation may occur in conditions such as inadequate muscle or nerve function to move air into the lungs, such as cervical spinal cord injury; narrowed airways from bronchoconstriction like in asthma, or from obstruction like in chronic bronchitis; poor gas diffusion in ... The linguistic situation of Bulgaria is an immensely fascinating subject when studied in parallel with the historical events, since languages tend to develop alongside history. The aim of this paper is to explore the linguistic history for Bulgaria through the study of past language changes and impact of sociolinguistics, ethnic and religious divide in order to understand the current linguistic situation. This paper examines text from many sources, including a person with first hand experience. By being mindful of the context and purpose for which these texts were written, we are better able to analyze the use to the languages of Bulgarian through time. For the purpose of this paper I will analyze pages from text that describe the political/natural history and pages that describe the moral history in order avoid erroneous conclusions involving rhetoric and style or more seriously a misinterpretation due to political/religious bias. So now a days ULBs are practicing the development by keeping the flow on market hands. However there are some cases for development of city level infrastructure through TPS mechanism. They are here taken as case studies. After 1980 peripheral areas of Ahmedabad have been expanding rapidly. There was a huge differentiation between population within the city limit area and the outer peripheral area because the saturation of population within the city area and the subsequent large scale housing development in the fringe areas. Haphazard development took place because of absence of proper infrastructure and road network. The development in outer areas is expected to accelerate further as Ahmedabad has become a mega city. And due to this reason, the Ahmedabad Urban Development Authority has proposed additional 64 sq. km of urbanizable land over the next ten years in the revised development plan (2011). The expected population is expected to reach 46 lakhs and 60 lakhs in the former Ahmedabad Municipal Corporation (AMC) and AUDA as per the proposed plan with in a period of 10 years. The mere declaration that a given number of animals out of the flock would be held on trust would not create a trust . The primary purpose of ATC systems is to handle the aircraft downlinks and ground station uplinks. The pilot sends some downlink messages by using MKP (Multi Functional Keypad), CCP(Cursor Control panel) in AM. The pilot will confirm the message by pressing SEND in AFD and it will come to ATC after pressing SEND function in AFD.RIU will then send the message to one of the existing radios (HF, SATCOM or VHF, with the selection of the radio based on special logic contained within the RIU). For a message to be sent over the VHF network, the radio would transmit the VHF signals containing the downlink message. This message is then received by a VHF Remote Ground Station .ATC may use a radar system called Secondary Surveillance Radar to downlink flight parameters allowing radar processing: systems and therefore controllers to see various data on a flight, including airframe unique id (24 bits encoded), indicated airspeed and flight director selected level, amongst others.Any aircraft is required to have clearance from Ground Control. This is normally done via VHF/UHF radio. Figure 4(b): Air Traffic Controller (ATN CM page) Figure 4(c): Air Traffic Controller 4.3.2 Radio Interface Unit (RIU): It is Radio Interface Unit. ...
