How Does Mrs. Havisham Treat Estella
Great Expectations Essay Parents are so often the soul foundation of a child s character. For some,
that isn t a good thing. Mrs.Havisham mistreated Estella and it shaped and changed her into into a
rude character . She always put her hopes and ambitions into Estella, even when it wasn t the best
option and only beneficial to herself. Mrs.Havisham created something heartless and cut throat in a
way. After all the bad had happened, she came to her senses and regretted the things she had done.
Mrs.Havisham s treatment towards Estella could have changed the whole story. Mrs.Havisham
always pushed her wants and ideals into Estella. She had manipulated and trained Estella to treat
men the way she thought they should be treated. Her lost love

The Importance Of African American Studies
My fellow students let me begin by wishing you all a very good morning. Today, I have with me
two prizes, and with my two prizes I have two questions. Answer them correctly and they will be
yours to have. My first question is who can name America s first president? .......Alright good, I
have another one for you can you name the first person to get shot in the Boston Massacre? ........ I
see that you don t seem to know the answer to my question.....Ladies and gentleman I present to
you the problem with our society today. The first person to get shot in the Boston Massacre was a
black male, who went by the name of Crispus Attucks. Everyone in this room would know this
information, if African AmericanStudies was a class required to take... Show more content on

Women s rights, Hispanic rights, Islamic rights, unemployment and so many more are issues in the
world today that would be introduce in the course so students will not only be learning about
African American but the diversity, and the unity of our society, which is what the African
American culture is really all about.
Why African Americans why not Hispanic studies? But that s just the thing guys we have to start
from somewhere. If we fight for this it will also inspire others to do the same, it would bring
attention to the unfair system that we have been trained to live in and become a stepping stool to
make change happen. We just have to continue to work together to achieve greatness.
We can not understand the American history without learning about the African Americans
experience, and when I say the African American experience I do not mean just focusing on
slavery. You see too many time in American history the horror of slavery, racismand segregation
has been focused topic and has been displayed to many as the only history African Americans have
in America. You see so many of us put to the expense of not recognizing the creativity, faith,
courage, and the leadership that has been molded into African Americans then and still

The Cat And Mouse Gangs
THE CAT AND MOUSE GAME By: John Charles Roth So there was this cat in Chicago back in
1872 and this mouse and the mouse was a jerk and they kept battling. So naturally, the cat found a
wife and the mouse found a husband and more animals came and they formed the cat and mouse
gangs. And the gangs were both democracies. The catand mouse who formed the gangs got
elected. They weren t really gangs they were more of battling societies so they both replaced the
gang with society. So they kept fighting. The everlasting war was a seesaw battle. The cats were
winning. The mice were winning. So we re gonna focus on a very important year for both societies.

they Arrested her. SHE WAS A CAT SOCIETY CITIZEN AFTER ALL! And that s when things

helicopters circling. There must have been really stupid people in Chicago that day or maybe
there was a coffee shortage.Because nobody noticed the commotion. Probably the second thing. It
was chaos! Helicopters were roaring small helicopters of course they were cat sized, there were
soldiers parachuting out of helicopters and the President who was fast but unathletic (like MoГ)
was running and panting and the ambassadors were trying to catch up with the president and
then there was a faint sound and everyone stopped. The assassin had disappeared. The Colonel
broke the silence. All right move it men! MOVE IT! Get back in the helicopters everybody and

A Multi Agent Cross Platform Modelingand-
NetLogo: Where We Are, Where We re Going
Paulo Blikstein, Dor Abrahamson, and Uri Wilensky
ABSTRACT
NetLogo [3], a multi agent cross platform modelingand simulation environment, has been enhanced
with new capabilities. We explain selected simulations from our Models Library and describe recent
enhancements (e.g., 3D) and demonstrate extensions
(e.g., music). We focus on H u b N e t [5], a technological infrastructure for facilitating participatory
simulations [6], run these activities with participants, and discuss learning experiences afforded by
these activities.
INTRODUCTION
NetLogo [3] is a multi agent programming and modeling environment for simulating complex
phenomena. It is designed for both research and education and is used across a wide range of
disciplines (e.g., Figure 1, across) and education levels. NetLogo
NetLogo s low threshold, high ceiling design philosophy is inherited from Logo [1]. NetLogo is
simple enough that students and teachers can easily design and run simulations, and advanced
enough to serve as a powerful tool for researchers in many disciplines. Novices will find an easy to
learn, intuitive, and well documented programming language (see Figure 2, across) with an elegant
graphical interface. Researchers can take advantage of NetLogo s advanced features, such as
BehaviorSpace that runs automated experiments, 3D visualization, user extensibility, a System

Young Godman Brown Principle Of Faith
Principle of Faith Young Godman Brown is a prime example of the dark romantism and
illustrates in a very straightforward way a principle of faith. Nathaniel Hawthorne was an
American novelist of the beginning of the 19th century. At one point in life, he discovered the
true about his father he thought to be deeply religious man of pure heart. John Hathorne was not
only a judge involved in witch trial he also never repented for his actions. His novel Young
Godman Brown is clearly a deeply personal reaction to this revelation. Godman is an ordinary
man, same as every other American, leading a rightful life that would get him to heaven. He is
married to a woman aptly named Faith that represents not only purity of his whole world but
also his way to heaven, his belief in the goodness in everyone and the faith itself. It s almost
night and Godman sets to a mysterious journey, leaving his wife alone for an unknown, important
but evil errand. The distance between Young Godman and faith, both literally and figuratively,
grows with every line. It starts with his wife s nightmare: as if a dream had warned her what
work is to be done tonight and her fears, continue with a parting kiss and a longing, worried gaze.
So while Godman remains clueless, it is becoming more and more clear, where the book is heading
and will eventually end. From the moment of... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

nothing to be done about it. He, as many of his peers, found himself depraved and loses his
virtue and belief. This sentiment, a storm of emotions, is expressed in the scene where the forest
is going mad and seems to lash out on Goodman with forest as the representation of the world.
Faith was his whole life and it failed him when he most needed it. This novel is a reaction, a
confession. An outlet but maybe a message to all those that doubt as

Reading Maketh A Full Man Conference A Ready Man Analysis
Reading maketh a full man, conference a ready man and writing an exact man by Francis Bacon
has had different meaning to different people. The accumulation of reading, conference and
writing are all needed to create the perfect man. I believe the knowledge that one has acquired can
empowered person to do their best. One can only become a full man if he is able to read, but the
aspect that differentiates no longer being a child to being a full person is having the ability to learn.
Not just hearing instructions or following directions, but actually being able to understand and
absorb the information that is being given to them. Scudder and Shaler wanted to learn everything
they could about the fish by just looking at it. These students knew... Show more content on

The ready man wants to express his opinion not because he is forced to but he is delighted when
he is able to speak about his topic. On the Douglass reading we were told about the slave who
was trying to set himself free by having a conversation with his master. The slave is a man with
conference because he is able to listen to his opponent while still being able to speak his truth.
Before the slave was able to make himself free he had to learn and become well informed about
what was wrong with the things his master was doing to him. When the conversation was over
and the slave had expressed everything he felt it resulted in the voluntarily emancipation of the
slave by the master (Douglass). When the slave and the master speak, all the slave had to do
was speak his truth, but he had to do it effectively so that the master is convinced by the slave s
beliefs. The exact man is a strong writer who is able to put on paper, and in proper writing, his
own thoughts and opinions, and what he is most passionate about. Feynman is one of the few
man from the reading that sums up the writing and exact person who fulfilled, all knowing, and
is often seen as the ideal man. He was so passionate about his work it could be seen by almost
everyone; in fact, the head of the science department noticed that Feynman [appeared] to . . . really

Who Is Blanche s Delusions In A Streetcar Named Desire
Blanche Dubois, A Portrayal of Her Delusional Reality Most people can think of a dream of what
they want to do in their lives. It is common for people to dream of their perfect life. For some it s
being the next big star on a television show or the person that cures cancer. These dreams are what
motivate people, and throughout A Streetcar Named Desire, Blanche Duboisportrayed herself as a
very pure woman whom, like many, failed to achieve her dreams. Because of this, she was
haunted by her failures. From Blanche s devastating past, her heart broke, and she needed an
escape. She attempted to fill the emptiness in her heart with delusions in her head. To begin,
Blanche had a broken heart for a few reasons that are depicted in A Streetcar Named... Show more

One main way to understand Blanche s delusion would be the themes throughout the play
demonstrated through the names of certain key aspects of their world. The first introduced
example of this would be the streetcar named Desire. Desire was the reason Blanche moved to
Stella s home and ironically, the way she arrived. Desire was consistently alluded to throughout
the play. Blanche s past was full of desire, but her time at the Kowalski s was presented with
desire as well. From Mitch to Stanley, to Blanche living the extravagant lifestyle that she
retained, Blanche desired a life that she did not have access to. After she ruined her reputation
with sexual encounters and the epic fornications of her family to lose Belle Reve, Blanche had
no where to turn. Belle Reve was another large theme throughout the play. Belle Reve or
beautiful dream was where Blanche and Stella were raised. Stella was able to move on and
marry Stanley. Blanche, after her husband s death, wasn t able to cope and depended on her
family at Belle Reve. The beautiful dream became Blanche s escape. George Hovis presented a
counter argument to what Blanche needed an escape from. He argued that Blanche was aware
of how she was being seen by men, therefore put on a charade of still being in her sexual prime.
Hovis stated, [Blanche Dubois like Amanda Wingfield and Lucretia Collins were] aware that she
[was] beyond what culture consider[ed] to be her prime and therefore engage[d] in an elaborate
scheme of denial, which involve[d] a repetition of some critical moment from the past that
mark[ed] a missed opportunity (Hovis, 175). Hovis s claim that Blanche s elaborate scheme was
based on denial of no longer being in her prime rests upon the questionable assumption that
Blanche was beyond her prime based solely on age. Blanche was beyond her prime, however, a
better explanation for her ruse would be that

It Feels Miserable Without You…Almost Like Having You Here
Satire. A trend of the ancient times, following America like a lost a puppy. But where did it come
from? Why did it get started? To answer these questions take a look at satirical historians. They
believe the starting point of satire most likely goes back to many ancient ethnic groups who used it
in rituals. The people believed that their words were just as powerful as their swords, making satirea
thing to be feared. In fact, satire was so extremely feared among the ethnic groups and the people
that if someone was found using it, they would be put to death by fire (Roman). Among those who
have strong influences, Jonathan Swiftwrote a wonderful explanation of satire in his preface to The
Battle of the Books. He describes satire as a type... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Swift s use of a parody that the Irish should eat their babies is imitating the intelligence level of
some people who think their ideas are so marvelous, when it is really a terrible suggestion
(Swift). Another parody is found in A Modest Proposal as Swift explains his final statement. He
claims . . . [I] have nothing to gain economically from this proposal . . . This is a parody because
it imitates the usual objections of people who claim to be unselfish in their proposals (Swift). A
reversal is a major technique used in the film Tangled. As Princess Rapunzel uses her unnaturally
long hair to bring up her pretend mother from the tower, it is incredible how far the beautiful
golden hair can reach. However, the fact that Rapunzel has to take care of her mother is simply
not natural. Although every mom wants to feel beautiful and accepted by society, her main
concern should be making sure her daughter feels beautiful and accepted. Many people have the
capabilities to stun the rest of the world, but it is just not a natural thing for a teenage daughter to
be taking care of her mother and making her feel young and wanted. This, above all, is truly daffy
and out of proportion.
The picture to the left is a very strong form of satire. There are a few types of satire it could fall
under, but it is typically that of a parody. While most people have

Foucault, Consumerism, and Identity
Foucault, Consumerism, and Identity
Michel Foucault presents those revolutionary sorts of analyses that are rich not only for their
content but for their implications and novel methodological approach. Just beyond the surface of
his works lies such philosophical wealth that one can be overwhelmed by considerations of which
vein to mine first, and what to make of the elements therefrom extracted. I ve broken earth in

Since the average person could not take themselves as an object, they had to rely on that Other
who does have himself as object (the sovereign) to tell them who they are, and what their
relationship is to him, since he is capable of knowing both at once, and thus of comparing. The
Classical age saw an increased interest by the ruling classes, and the emerging intellectual
class,2[2] in the affairs of the productive classes. The realisation of the significance of
microphysical power is parallelled by the establishment of the subject as the final authority on
belief (Luther), the foundation of knowledge (Descartes), and the establisher of rights (Locke).
These ideas gave power to masses who had hitherto seen themselves as having none (hardly having
seen themselves at all), and fuelled the Age of Revolutions. The Classical discovery of the
individual led, by the Romantic period, to its exaltation. The belief in individual power and rights
created a demand not only for access to the privileges previously enjoyed only by the elite (such as
say in the direction of society), but also for comparable narrative distinctiveness.
As the romantics idealised the life of peasants, and socialists proclaimed the rights of workers,
common folk began to see their images in culture. Individual enshrinement remained the

Historical Events that Impacted Contact Improvisation...
Historical Events that Impacted Contact Improvisation
Dance has evolved greatly throughout the centuries. It began with ballet and has led up to contact
improvisation. This form of dance begun in the early 1970 s and was started by a man named
Steve Paxton and a group of postmodern dancers from New York City. Contactimprovisation is a
partnering form of dance and known as the art of moving spontaneously with a group or another
person. This form of dance does not require the exact set of traditional skills of other dance form, it
doesn t have a technique that could be studied, and it is practiced in order to accomplish the highest
potential. Contact improvisation came at a great time period, which of course was the 70 s. The ...

Although the WatergateScandal was an important event during this time period I don t think it
greatly affected contact improvisation.
Another important historical event that occurred during this time period was the end of the Cold
War. In 1975, under President Gerald Ford the US joined the USSR and thirty three other
countries to sign the Helsinki Accords that each member of nations vowed to respect human rights
and boundaries. I think the whole end of the Cold War greatly affected this dance. I think by using
contact improvisation it sort of represented people s feelings better by being able to interact with
each other. So by using contact improvisation I think the dancers were able to get their point across
to the audience better. Therefore, the end of the Cold War was probably very important for contact
improvisation and expressing yourself.
Finally, the Vietnam War was another important historical event going on in the 1970s. When
Nixon was president he sent American troop strength in Vietnam. He also set up a program of
Vietnamization, which was decreasing the number of U.S. troops, offering only advice and
assistance. The U.S. troops eventually returned from Vietnam but the U.S. did not stop with its
involvement in Vietnam. Nixon then extended the war into Laos and Cambodia, there is secretly

Server Controlled Multicast Chat System
SERVER CONTROLLED MULTICAST CHAT SYSTEM
INTRODUCTION
An assumption that is intrinsic to a basic communication involves two parties, the server and the
client. Here, our design is based on a chat application which involves one to many communication
(i.e., with one server and multiple clients, in which the server acts as the central system
administrator and has got control over all other clients who wish to join the network.
BRIEF OVERVIEW OF THE DESIGN: The Multicasting in java can be achieved by using the
sockets and thread concepts in the Java networking programming. We consider two sockets, one in
the server side that waits for the client messages on a particular port and the other in the client side
to receive messages from each ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Once the user logs into the system with his/her credentials provided the server is started intitially
and is waiting for the clients, it starts storing all the actions performed in a log called the Event log
for the corresponding user session. It requires the user to run the Client login program every time
of a new user wants to connect. The message sent by user hits the server first and the user makes
it display on all the screen of all other users who are online. This is the main focus of our design
and is implemented using the threading. Also, if a user logs off, all other users of the group will
be notified of it and the logged off users loses access over the application. He has to login again to
achieve a connection with the system once again.
SPECIAL ASSUMPTIONS: 1) A user who wishes to login can successfully login with any name,
provided the password is 12345 . The system is designed in such a way for simplicity as this is not
the main focus of our design.
2) Any multiple number of the users can login with the same username, because the system treats
them as different individuals as each and every client is referenced by a unique id.
3) Once a user wishes to log off, he sends a Goodbye message and the server disconnects him from
the application and notifies to all other users currently connected.
TESTING:
1) Our system works fine at both the circumstances, when the server

Rebel Without A Cause Pop Culture
Midterm paper: Pop Culture: Sex, Drugs, Rock Roll. Rebel Without a Cause led way to the first
on screen teenage bad boy. James Dean plays a disgruntled teenager (Jim) is unsatisfied with life
and the patriarchy of following the rules. He hates that his dad lets his mom run the household
and caters to her versus the traditional father makes all the rules stance. Rebel Without a Cause
allows for a deep consideration of what the stereotypical 1950s teenager felt. The movie looks at
teenage relationships with the older generation and exclaims the disdain both parties share for
one another during the tremulous coming of age time. Jim s parents are not sure how to raise
him the best way, and he loses respect for them judging on how they interact with him and each
other. The other main teenage characters within the film are Judy portrayed by Natalie Wood,
and John Plato Crawford portrayed by Sal Mineo. Natalie Wood s character is probably
reminiscent of what many young female teenagers went through at the time. She deals with
gender issues and must find her way as a developing young woman when her parents seem
clueless to her concerns and struggles. Her father does not know how to guide her through this
next stage of life and instead turns her away which causes her to feel bad about herself. Her
Mother has no real clue on how to help either of them as well. Plato is also a striking character
within the story that is utterly confused and has no real guidance in life. All three

The Components Of Social Work
The main element that drew me to the profession of social work was the diverse opportunities
available. Social work is a very flexible field that consists of many different components such as
family and child welfare, poverty and inequality, and substance abuse/ addiction. The main
component of social work that interests me is working with people who have disabilities, mental
and/or physical. According to our textbook about 11.3% of social workers with bachelor s work
in this field (Cox, Tice, Long, 2016, pg. 17). I discovered that I was interested in this component of
social work after a traumatic experience that left me with a disability.
Component of Social Work A disability is usually defined as a decline in function that can either
be temporary or permanent. There are two main groupings of disabilities; categorial and functional.
Categorial disabilities include mental illnesses and sensory damage which often leads to
developmental delays. In comparison, functional disabilities cause limitations during physical
activity. Individuals can also suffer from more than one disability which is known as a co
occurring disability (Cox et al., 2016, pg. 159). Social workers often view disabilities in three
types; developmental disabilities, physical disabilities, and mental disabilities. A developmental
disability is a long term disability that is typically diagnosed before age 22. These disabilities
include Autism, Cerebral Palsy, and Down Syndrome(Cox et al., 2016, pg.

Insan Insanity Or Insanity
Insanity or Sanity I m going to focus on that the woman in the yellow wallpaper was forced to do
nothing for my argumentative. In which made her go insane maybe. I thought that this was a great
story that I could somewhat relate to, more than most that we have read for the class. Not that I m
a trapped women that is assumed to be crazy. No it s just I can symphonize with being isolated.
As is most of my life it would seem. I can relate to a lesser extent in that most nights I had a four
hour time period a day of being alone. With those four hours I had to come up with things to do,
sure there was homework but that wasn t fours worth. So most of my time I would fill up with
movies and videos games to fill my imagination. I think people do the same during their lives of
trying to fill it up with time wasters.
But if I was left with nothing but sleep I don t know how I would react, or eventually change
when left to my own devices. I probably would not change much due to being alone for short
periods of time getting used to it. Probably most people can contest to this that there is alone time
and there is too much alone time. But a so called treatment to force this I think is kind of crazy in
itself.
Most our lives as human being we are forced to play the roles we are given. As we are born we are
forced into the social class, gender, race and other standing without our control. Sure that is fine but
something s I would hope would change as is her hope that eventually something

Chaos In Masks
When selecting the optimal theme for my mask, the one that really stood out to me was chaos.
Distinctly, the choice to select chaos was partly biased due to the fact that I could brainstorm
various various scenarios where chaos nearly overwhelmed, but over time I discerned that everyone
encounters a situation in where the chaos interfering with their life simply leaves them confused.
From the beginning of my life to this day itself, I have experienced obstacles such as depression

observing the different theme options, I also sensed that fearwould be a great representative to use

The color choices I decided to use for my mask include red, purple, and black. The upper left and
right half are filled in with red and purple and the chin is filled in with black to exhibit how the
hidden meanings behind red and purple really contribute to the feelings that black
conveys.Purple has been shown to convey a sense of confusion. Red has been shown to convey
a sense of anger. Anger and confusion both can lead to a scenario of extreme chaos. Chaos can
lead to a lot of mystery and fear. Mystery and fairly are evidently sensed through the color of
black.I also used different symbols to additionally represent the theme of chaos. These symbols
include a shell/conch, question marks, exclamation points, and the symbol of chaos itself. The
conch is actually shown in LOTF to prevent chaos, so I predicted it would be quite imaginative to
use it as a symbol. I also use question marks and exclamation points as when people feel confused
or angry, they decided to utilize punctuation such as question marks and exclamation points to
convey their confusion and anger. Lastly I used the symbol of chaos as this is the symbol that was
conceived by Michael Moorcock himself. Artistic techniques that I used to improve the quality of

The Negative Impact Of Body Shaming In The Brand Of...
While Forever 21 hires countless models to represent their brand, Chrissy Teigen, one of the
most sought after supermodels, was fired for being too fat. Body shaming is one of the main
issues that young people face in today s society, and this can send out negative effects on how
young people perceive their own bodies. We must learn to accept each other because everyone s
different in their own ways, and not everyone has a perfect body. As the years progressed, the store
became more accepting to our society. Forever 21is a fashion brand that promotes the latest trends
that target young adults and teens through the stores, social media, and their models. Today, the
company provides a diverse atmosphere that invites middle class young adults and teens in any
gender, size, and ethnicity that mainly targets fit, light skinned young women who are into the
latest fashion trends.
The arrangement and spacings of the furniture give Forever 21 a modern look to draw in their
target customers. For example, their pieces of furniture. Customers who walk in the store will
observe white furniture such as tables and shelves throughout the store, which makes the store look
spacious for the items to look neat and presentable. Although the store has many pieces of furniture,
the store does not provide benches or chairs throughout the store for the customers to sit on.
Shopping in this store can be exhausting due to the numerous amount of products that are being
sold in the store.

Theory Of Morality As A System Of Hypothetical Imperatives...
Circular Reasoning in Foot s Moral System
In Morality as a System of Hypothetical Imperatives , Philippa Foot argues against Immanuel Kant,
that morality exists in hypothetical imperatives rather than categorical imperatives. For Kant,
categorical imperatives alone serve as moral commands, and it would be impossible for a moral
system to be based on hypothetical imperatives because such imperatives serve as means to ends
and result from maxims that cannot be universalized into perfect duties. Despite this, Foot holds
that acting on many hypothetical imperatives can be morally praiseworthy and can even serve as
the basis of moral judgments. Although I agree with Foot that hypothetical imperatives can have
moral worth, in this paper, I will argue that a morality based on the purposes that hypothetical
imperatives are directed toward appears to be circular. To do this, I will explain Foot s theory of
how morality is known and binds. Then, I will argue that this theory is insufficient to explain the
moral purpose that hypothetical imperatives must be directed toward, thus begging the question of
what is the moral basis of the purpose directed toward in the hypothetical imperative.
To base morality on a system of hypothetical imperatives, Foot begins by explaining Kant s
distinction between hypothetical and categorical imperatives. According to Kant, a hypothetical
imperative can be contrasted with a categorical imperative in that it commands an action that is
good to some

Lovelace more than willingly joined Lord Goring and worked his way up the ranks to become
captain at the Bishop Wars. This was just the beginning to a long journey through his political
trouble. In 1641 he led a group of men to destroy a petition that was greatly valued since nearly
15,000 people signed it. He took a great part in trying to suppress Scotts by presenting a Royalist
petition to Parliament (this support of the Royalists eventually financially drained him) and was
then imprisoned in Westminster Gatehouse for six weeks where he completed To Althea, From

O meally suggests that Ellison also incorporates the Blues within his character developments for a
very different purpose, other than those of mood and rhythmic sequences. He suggests that
Ellison intentionally focuses on the music of Armstrong so as to introduce a concept of
materialistic fascination within the narrator. Just as the catchy tunes of the Blues, the narrator
too is fascinated by the concepts of equality and justice and is haunted by racial imbalances
however, he is simply intrigued by such ideologies but never really tries to divulge his entire
aspirations into the cause. He waits for a magical idea, which for him will be the ticket to
success and consequently allow him to become visible. He is in many aspects selfish to his own
dilemma of invisibility and strives only to be recognized much as the various artists from the
Blues era. The narrator s obsession with recognition can be recognized early on in the prologue
where he strings 1369 light bulbs in the underground hole just to feel visible. Such a comparable
lunacy can be observed in the Blues where many musicians often transcend into another state of
consciousness where the singular focus of their cognizance is the beat similar to the narrator s
unrealistic obsession with

The Walt Disney Company vs. Studio Ghibli
What does a whistling mouse and a catlike bunny creature have in common? They are both the
logos of two leading animation companies: the Walt Disney Company and Studio Ghibli. While
Disney and Studio Ghibli vary in their style, production, and overall themes, they both produce
award winning and adventurous movies for Western and Non Western audiences alike.
In 1928, the whistling Mickey Mouse in the short cartoon Steamboat Willie led to the beginnings of
success in Walt Disney s company and set the ball rolling for the studio to become the widest
known in the world (Holliss and Sibley 5). Before that, the company was strained financially and ...

themes and genres of animation to the table. Hayao Miyazaki was preoccupied with fantastical
worlds hidden inside of our own world, flying machines or flying in general, and environmentalism.
Isao Takahata focused more on realistic settings such as school life during adolescence and

Hbcus In Higher Education
Truly black schools and colleges, or HBCUs, are schools that were established on the conviction
that everybody merits access to a school instruction. All the more particularly, the Higher
Education Act of 1965 characterizes a HBCU as any historically black school or college that was
built up preceding 1964, whose primary mission was, and is, the instruction of African Americans.
The first HBCU, Cheney University in Pennsylvania was established in 1837. Today, there are 105
Historically Black Colleges and Universities (CollegeXpress). HBCUs graduate much more than
their offer of African Americanexperts. While the 105 HBCUs speak to only 3% of the country s

one of a kind part in the historical backdrop of American postsecondary instruction. In spite of the
gigantic impediments that these foundations confronted, there are 104 HBCUs starting 2002

qualities they convey to advanced education. That is why any HBCU still and will always be

Immigrant Families And The Parent Child Relationship Essay
Introduction
The task of parenting is difficult for anyone. This task is even more difficult when examining
immigrant families and the parent child relationship. The population of first and second generation
immigrant children in the United States grew by 51 percent between 1995 and 2014 (Child Trends,
2014, p. 3). According to the Migration Policy Institute, about 88 percent of immigrant children are
born in the U.S (U.S. Census Bureau, 2014). While some immigrant children and their families are
able to adjust to the United States smoothly, there is still a huge percentage of immigrant children
who face a number of risks to healthy development. Immigrant children are more likely than non
immigrant children to live in families with a low socio economic status, to have parents with low
educational attainment and to have poor health (Child Trends, 2014). In addition to the risk factors
that impact immigrant families, there are also dilemmas in the parent child relationship. A major
issue confronted by immigrant children and their parents is the acculturation gap that emerges over
time. Immigrant children are able to adjust relatively quickly to the new culture as a result of school
and other activities. While immigrant children can quickly acquire to the values and behaviors of
the host culture, studies have shown that immigrant adults retain their original culture, slowing
their acculturation process (Liebkind, 1996). When the child s adaptation exceeds that of their

Malcolm Knowles Andragogy
Executive Summary:
This paper is a research on Malcolm Knowles topic andragogy . Knowles describes andragogy as
the art and science of adult learning. Andragogy focuses on special needs od adults learners, he
classifies these need into six different categories: (1) need to know, (2) self concept, (3) prior
experience, (4) readiness to learn, (5) learning orientation, and (6) motivation to learn.
Adults have special needs as learners and these needs should be taken into consideration when
planning training for adults. When adults participate in a positive learning experience that follows
the six assumptions of andragogy presented in this paper, they are more likely to retain what they
have learned and apply it in their work environment.
Qantas
Introduction:
As a HR graduate, through research and examination it was found that Knowles Andragogy is the
best way for adults to learn. Every group contains a configuration of idiosyncratic personalities,
differing past experiences, current orientations, levels of readiness for learning, and individual
learning styles. Thus trainers should be wary of prescribing any standardized approach to
facilitating learning (Brookfield 1986). Understanding the six assumptions in andragogy prepares
facilitators to create successful training. Qantas What is Andragogy?
Malcolm Shepherd Knowles (1913 1997) was an American educator well known for the use of the
term Andragogy as synonymous to the adult education.

Common Themes In Seger s Creating The Myth
Until reading Seger s, Creating the Myth I did not realize how movies are connected in a special
way. Most movies have the common background, and similar heroic endings, through the story is
usually different from one another. The movie I will be analyzing is The Lion King. It is not the
traditional superhero movie, but it has the same common principles. There were many universal
themes embedded in this movie to help us connect more with the movie. Seger mentions in
paragraph 13, many times...the hero doesn t want to leave, and this is true. Simba, in The Lion
King, did not want to leave but he felt his father, Mufasa, death was because of him. Simba lost
himself and literally almost died from running away until he got help from some unusual creatures.
This is another point Seger mentions in paragraph 14, the hero usually receives help, and the help
often comes from unusual sources. Without the help from Pumba and Timon, Simba realistically
would have died whether from starvation or depression. These creatures taught him, Hakuna
Matata, which taught Simba not to worry about things he could not fix. Thus, they helped him, in a
way, get away from his past life and pain.... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

Peaceful Resistance Thesis
Peaceful resistance is a very controversial issue in this day in age. Many Americans, if asked,
probably have many varying views and opinions on what peaceful resistance is. For some it could
be marching down the streets with signs, while for others its shouting their rights without causing
any violence. Now to me, peaceful resistance is when one or multiples stand for what they deem
right or wrong without causing any harm to others. To me this serves as a positive because not
only does it allow for people to be heard, but also for others to listen. When a peaceful protesttakes
place often enough it is shown through the internet, social media, television, news, etc. At some
point everyone will hear about it and based on what they see they... Show more content on

Resistance can cause tension and division between people, but peaceful resistance is a pathway for
those to express themselves without violence. In all honesty I think the positives trump the
negatives because in the end they are fighting for what they want and what they should rightfully
have. Isn t that what America has been built off of? The fight for what we want and what we know
is right, while proving that is so. And for those who question What has happened to us? Why is it
necessary, at this moment, in this forum to repeat what should be axiomatic and accepted? (Civil
Disobedience: A Threat o Our Society) clearly have never faced injustice from those around them
or the government. It s necessary because these people have been treated unfairly and should not
let what their ancestors fought for to go to waste. People need to get out of their own heads and
realize that injustice still exists, inequality still exists, the government has too much say in what
happens in our lives and that is something not many see everyday. For example, my town is very
safe and isolated. I ve grown up never having seen violence, social prejudice, or anything unfair,
which for a child is great for protection, but growing up it made me and many around me ignorant
to the world and what really went down around our small bubble. I would watch the news and hear

Should 16 Year Olds Be Allowed To Vote In The Uk Research...
The legal voting age in the UK is 18 years old. However 16 year olds can get a full time job, pay
taxes and can also leave school. So should they be allowed to vote as well?
In the Brexit vote, 74% of all people under 24 voted to remain in the EU and people over 50
voted to leave the EU. This was a record turnout for this age group and shows this age group wants
to have a say in the future of this country. This is because they are the new generation and the ones
who are to live the future and they want the best environment for them to live in. However, with
many 18 24 years old in further education, it is hard for them to vote as they do not live in their

Well at the age of 16 you are able to get a full time job, pay taxes and also drink beer, this shows
that 16 years olds are not immature but growing or have grown into mature young adults. And in
school, as part of PSHCE, we are taught citizenship and the importance of voting and why we
should vote. 16 year olds are more aware of things happening around the world due to social
media. This shows that 16 years olds are well aware of things happening around them.
By allowing 16 years old to vote, it could make them more interested in politics. Before voting,
they will want to investigate about each party and the policies they have. Which in turn could
will make them more interested in politics. There is an urgent need for younger people to get
involved in politics and by lowering the voting age this could create a new wave of politicians. By
allowing 16 years old to vote, schools will have to teach politics in school and go into greater depth

Freewill In A Clockwork Orange And The Matrix
In the novel A Clockwork Orange by Burgess and the film The Matrix directed by the Wachowski
Brothers, various techniques are employed to examine freewill. Juxtaposition and the storyline are
used to explore whether freewill is possible. To exhibit that freewill is important, the creators of
both texts utilise similes and irony. To demonstrate the consequences of freewill, dialogue, similes
and onomatopoeia are utilised by the creators.
The Wachowski Brothers and Burgess both consider whether freewill is possible through the use of
similes and irony. In A Clockwork Orange, Alex feels others around him are trying to take away
his freedom and control him. Therefore, he commits violent and immoral acts as to him, it is the

controlled to misbehave as something has influenced his opinion too and consequently, he loses
his freewill also. Similarly, Neo is given a choice between taking the red pill and finding out the
reality of The Matrix or taking the blue pill and returning to The Matrix oblivious to the truth.
Even if Neo chose the blue pill, he essentially has still made the choice to not have the truth and
therefore leads to freewill. Likewise, Alex is given the choice between serving his jail sentence of

FUNCTIONS OF THE SKELETAL SYSTEM
Supports soft tissue and is the framework of the entire body (scaffolding)
It provides the attachment points for muscle and ligaments
Protects delicate vital organs such as the brain, heart, lungs, and spinal cord.
They are the levers for the movement created by muscles that are attached to them

segregation complained of, deprived of the equal protection of the laws guaranteed by the
Fourteenth Amendment (Schwartz, 198). The Supreme Court struck down the quot;separate but
equal quot; doctrine of Plessy for public education, ruled in favor of the plaintiffs, and required the
desegregation of schools across America (Cray, 1 2) .
Besides his work in the courtroom, Warren headed the commission that investigated the
assassination of President John F. Kennedy. He retired in 1969 and died on July 9, 1974,

What Did The Muslim Brotherhood Moderate From The 1980 S...
In early 2011 the world watched as Egypt s youth revolted against their abusive president,
Muhammed Hosni El Sayed Mubarak. This revolution sparked much political and social debate
around the world, about what was next for the Egyptians. With the ousting of Mubarak, the Muslim
Brotherhood saw it s chance to run for political power and therefore began their campaign. Before
looking at the Muslim Brotherhoods role in the 2011 Revolution and the elections that would
follow, their moderation as an Islamist organization must be examined. In order to do so, this
paper will examine to what extent did the Muslim Brotherhood Moderate from the 1980 s 2000 s?
In Jillian Schwedler s article, Faith in Moderation: Islamist Parties in Jordan and Yemen, she
explains moderation as, when a movement moves from a closed and rigid worldview to one that is
more open and tolerant of alternative perspectives and encounters ideological change (Schwedler
3). Although throughout her analysis she discusses the inclusion moderation hypothesis, I will not
be integrating this into my paper. I will argue that the Muslim Brotherhood in Egyptmoderated
between the 1980 s 2000 s because of their evolution of ideologies on minority religious groups,
women and the diversification of issues. I will be doing this by discussing their moderation on
minority religious groups, women, and the diversification of issues within the state. The religious
group I will be focusing on is the Copts, or Coptic Christians.

The company must factor in that each of their customers has lifetime value, a greater value than a
small gain made on first sales. With competition in their sector, more penetration pricing would be
appropriate. The penetrating pricing strategy would only make sense to retain customers; the
pricing strategy must realize lifetime value, (University of Phoenix, 2011).
Acer should avoid high price tactics, or selling off their market share. By doing this, they would
retain only a small percentage of the market. Acer currently does not have the capacity to capture
a niche market based on the uniqueness of their products (University of Phoenix, 2011). Their
customers are not willing to pay a much higher price for this new product. In general, most
businesses tend to skew a penetration price too high in an attempt to make more money. Based on
Acer s market, it would make sense to consider cost plus pricing; they would charge their prices
explicitly with reference to average costs plus a percentage profit mark up. Predatory pricing and
limit pricing would not be appropriate (McConnell Brue, 2004).
Acer has a degree of control over its prices and a considerable amount of non price competitions
exists, which ultimately leads to price discrimination (University of Phoenix, 2011). As such, Acer
should focus on attaining and retaining loyal customers. Their non pricing strategy should be
focused on the development of products that are unique

Essay On Automated Appointment Reminders
Enhanced automated appointment reminders are an economically reasonable strategy in reducing
no show rates, which can impact the clinic s financial sustainability and our ability to deliver
optimal health care in a timely fashion. In order to accomplish the quality improvement project, a
project team will be assembled, which will involve key stakeholders such as the healthcenter s
regional practice administrator, the clinic manager, the front desk personnel, a provider liaison, a
clinic nurse, in addition to IT s systems manager. Our regional practice administrator will serve in
championing the mission and raising responsiveness at the senior level (Communications
Acceptance Management). The project will be overseen by the project manager to make certain the
development is successfully resourced to all team members appropriately. A collaborative spirit

To ensure time management is successfully accomplished, a timeline will be distributed to confirm
assigned tasks are being met. Furthermore, a cause and effect Ishikawa diagram will be drawn to
examine the root causes of no shows (Issue Change Management). In order to further develop and
complete this project, additional data from vendors will be collected and evaluated to determine the
needs for the proposed project. The data generated will include information on the loss of revenue
reported and expenditure. A cost benefit analysis will be determined in addition to a return on
investment analysis, which will show the prospective benefit of the proposed changes (Cost
Management). Legal guidance will be necessary to ascertain and mitigate potential risk associated
with implementing enhanced automated appointment reminders in a healthcare setting (Risk

Native American Death Rituals
In this paper, we will discuss the different death rituals performed in different cultures. We view
death rituals from Native Americans, Africans, those of the Chinese decent, and endocannibalism
from the Fore tribe of Papua New Guinea. Death is universal to all people in every culture.
Responses to how one deals with deathand dying differ greatly. Death rituals are usually based on
beliefs. This can come from religion, history, language, and art. Native American traditions as well
as rituals may differ from tribe to tribe. This is because each tribe may have different religious and
spiritual beliefs. Although this might be the case there are many common characteristics in Native
American death rituals. One belief that is common among... Show more content on Helpwriting.net

Today the Chinese population still follows these traditions with a few small exceptions of
modern times. All elders are given respect in the Chinese society, those living or deceased. There
is a question that still remains in this culture on how to prepare a funeral of unmarried adults and
children. No respect is given to a person who died as a bachelor or bachelorette, or if they did not
have children. They are not considered an elder and do not have children that prepare the funeral
for them. Children are also shown no respect because they do not have anyone to prepare their
death ritual. They are left at their funeral home and the family members preform these burials in
silence. The children in Chinese families prepare funerals for elders. It is considered proper for
the children of the deceased to go into debt in order to pay respect for the older people at the
funeral. The body of the dead must be washed with care, dusted with talcum powder, and dressed
in the nicest clothes from the personal wardrobe before being placed in the casket for burial. All of
the other clothing that belongs to the deceased elder must be burned. The deceased is never
dressed in red because it is believed that it will turn the corpse into a ghost. The body is placed
on a yellow cloth with the face covered, and then the body is covered with a blue cloth. All
statues of deities are covered with red paper and all mirrors are removed from site in the home
when preparing the home for the death ritual. The mirror is removed so that no one sees the
coffin in the mirror. If someone sees the coffin in the mirror, it is believed that you will have a
death within your own family soon. A white cloth is hung in the doorway and a gong is placed
outside the door of the home of the deceased. If the person who is deceased is a male, it is placed
on the left side; if female, it is placed

Recruitment Process For The Assistant Manager At Panera Essay
The purpose of this letter is to inform you about the specific steps we have taken in the
recruiting process for our assistant manager at our new Panera location in North Liberty, Iowa
and what compensation strategy we plan to put in place. In order to recruit the best possible
assistant manager at Panera, we plan on executing multiple recruiting methods including local
advertisements, referrals from current employees of Panera, and posting the open position to
general job listing sites and the corporate website. Recruiting can be described as the process of
developing a pool of qualified candidates (Williams, p. 223). We are looking for someone to fill
the assistant manager position that is highly qualified and shows an exemplary set of skills. We
are going to be looking externally for an assistant manager who can bring in new ideas and
perspectives that can make our company thrive since many establishments that rely exclusively
on network hiring tend to be small, less formalized, and in the private sector (Marsden, 1994).
We are going to be targeting employees that we think will fit the job description well which
includes being able to complete the tasks, duties, and responsibilities expected of them and that
they will fit in along with current staff members. Along with advertising in the local newspaper
we will be looking at possible referrals, posting the job on general job listing sites as well as the
corporate website for Panera. General job listing sites are

Dylan Klebold Assassination
The morning of April 20th, 1999 was one that will never be forgotten. The day started off as what
was supposed to be a normal day in Jefferson County, Colorado, for the students attending
Columbine High School. Students were piling into the school, chatting with their friends, waiting
for their classes to start. Nobody expected what would happen next. At approximately 11:19 AM,
Eric Harris and Dylan Klebold, students of Columbine High School, began to open fire at students,
teachers, and finally took the lives of themselves around 12:00 PM. The shooters of Columbine,
Eric Harris, and Dylan Klebold s, mental states led them to plan out, and to kill 13 people, and
themselves, on the morning of April 20th, 1999. Eric Harris was born on April... Show more content

They came to school in separate cars and waited for the bombs to go off, which would lead to
students running outside where they would then begin to open fire. When the bombs did not
successfully go off, they began to shoot outside the school, and then entered the school. The
shooting lasted approximately 45 minutes. When the planned events were not successful, the two
boys injured more than twenty students, and killed 13 of them. Right before the attack had ended
in the cafeteria, Eric Harris turned the gun on himself and shot him in the head. When Dylan saw
what he had done, he then killed himself. Dylan Klebold did not suffer from any mental illnesses
that we know of. Dylan Klebold s inability to make romantic relationships, lack of friends, and
hatred he had mentally built up inside of him for his classmates, led him to attack that morning with
no warning signs. He was in a mental state that influenced his attack, with the help of his friend Eric

We explain selected simulations from our Models Library and describe recent enhancements (e.g., 3D) and demonstrate extensions (e.g., music). We focus on H u b N e t [5], a technological infrastructure for facilitating participatory simulations [6], run these activities with participants, and discuss learning experiences afforded by these activities. INTRODUCTION NetLogo [3] is a multi agent programming and modeling environment for simulating complex phenomena. It is designed for both research and education and is used across a wide range of disciplines (e.g., Figure 1, across) and education levels. NetLogo NetLogo s low threshold, high ceiling design philosophy is inherited from Logo [1]. NetLogo is simple enough that students and teachers can easily design and run simulations, and advanced enough to serve as a powerful tool for researchers in many disciplines. Novices will find an easy to learn, intuitive, and well documented programming language (see Figure 2, across) with an elegant graphical interface. Researchers can take advantage of NetLogo s advanced features, such as BehaviorSpace that runs automated experiments, 3D visualization, user extensibility, a System Dynamics Modeler that enables mixing agent based and aggregate representations, and ... • 6. Young Godman Brown Principle Of Faith Principle of Faith Young Godman Brown is a prime example of the dark romantism and illustrates in a very straightforward way a principle of faith. Nathaniel Hawthorne was an American novelist of the beginning of the 19th century. At one point in life, he discovered the true about his father he thought to be deeply religious man of pure heart. John Hathorne was not only a judge involved in witch trial he also never repented for his actions. His novel Young Godman Brown is clearly a deeply personal reaction to this revelation. Godman is an ordinary man, same as every other American, leading a rightful life that would get him to heaven. He is married to a woman aptly named Faith that represents not only purity of his whole world but also his way to heaven, his belief in the goodness in everyone and the faith itself. It s almost night and Godman sets to a mysterious journey, leaving his wife alone for an unknown, important but evil errand. The distance between Young Godman and faith, both literally and figuratively, grows with every line. It starts with his wife s nightmare: as if a dream had warned her what work is to be done tonight and her fears, continue with a parting kiss and a longing, worried gaze. So while Godman remains clueless, it is becoming more and more clear, where the book is heading and will eventually end. From the moment of... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... It is common for people to dream of their perfect life. For some it s being the next big star on a television show or the person that cures cancer. These dreams are what motivate people, and throughout A Streetcar Named Desire, Blanche Duboisportrayed herself as a very pure woman whom, like many, failed to achieve her dreams. Because of this, she was haunted by her failures. From Blanche s devastating past, her heart broke, and she needed an escape. She attempted to fill the emptiness in her heart with delusions in her head. To begin, Blanche had a broken heart for a few reasons that are depicted in A Streetcar Named... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... One main way to understand Blanche s delusion would be the themes throughout the play demonstrated through the names of certain key aspects of their world. The first introduced example of this would be the streetcar named Desire. Desire was the reason Blanche moved to Stella s home and ironically, the way she arrived. Desire was consistently alluded to throughout the play. Blanche s past was full of desire, but her time at the Kowalski s was presented with desire as well. From Mitch to Stanley, to Blanche living the extravagant lifestyle that she retained, Blanche desired a life that she did not have access to. After she ruined her reputation with sexual encounters and the epic fornications of her family to lose Belle Reve, Blanche had no where to turn. Belle Reve was another large theme throughout the play. Belle Reve or beautiful dream was where Blanche and Stella were raised. Stella was able to move on and marry Stanley. Blanche, after her husband s death, wasn t able to cope and depended on her family at Belle Reve. The beautiful dream became Blanche s escape. George Hovis presented a counter argument to what Blanche needed an escape from. He argued that Blanche was aware of how she was being seen by men, therefore put on a charade of still being in her sexual prime. Hovis stated, [Blanche Dubois like Amanda Wingfield and Lucretia Collins were] aware that she [was] beyond what culture consider[ed] to be her prime and therefore engage[d] in an elaborate scheme of denial, which involve[d] a repetition of some critical moment from the past that mark[ed] a missed opportunity (Hovis, 175). To answer these questions take a look at satirical historians. They believe the starting point of satire most likely goes back to many ancient ethnic groups who used it in rituals. The people believed that their words were just as powerful as their swords, making satirea thing to be feared. In fact, satire was so extremely feared among the ethnic groups and the people that if someone was found using it, they would be put to death by fire (Roman). I think the whole end of the Cold War greatly affected this dance. I think by using contact improvisation it sort of represented people s feelings better by being able to interact with each other. So by using contact improvisation I think the dancers were able to get their point across to the audience better. Rebel Without a Cause allows for a deep consideration of what the stereotypical 1950s teenager felt. Circular Reasoning in Foot s Moral System In Morality as a System of Hypothetical Imperatives , Philippa Foot argues against Immanuel Kant, that morality exists in hypothetical imperatives rather than categorical imperatives. For Kant, categorical imperatives alone serve as moral commands, and it would be impossible for a moral system to be based on hypothetical imperatives because such imperatives serve as means to ends and result from maxims that cannot be universalized into perfect duties. Despite this, Foot holds that acting on many hypothetical imperatives can be morally praiseworthy and can even serve as the basis of moral judgments. Although I agree with Foot that hypothetical imperatives can have moral worth, in this paper, I will argue that a morality based on the purposes that hypothetical imperatives are directed toward appears to be circular. To do this, I will explain Foot s theory of how morality is known and binds. Then, I will argue that this theory is insufficient to explain the moral purpose that hypothetical imperatives must be directed toward, thus begging the question of what is the moral basis of the purpose directed toward in the hypothetical imperative. To base morality on a system of hypothetical imperatives, Foot begins by explaining Kant s distinction between hypothetical and categorical imperatives. All the more particularly, the Higher Education Act of 1965 characterizes a HBCU as any historically black school or college that was built up preceding 1964, whose primary mission was, and is, the instruction of African Americans. The first HBCU, Cheney University in Pennsylvania was established in 1837. Today, there are 105 Historically Black Colleges and Universities (CollegeXpress). • 25. Immigrant Families And The Parent Child Relationship Essay Introduction The task of parenting is difficult for anyone. This task is even more difficult when examining immigrant families and the parent child relationship. The population of first and second generation immigrant children in the United States grew by 51 percent between 1995 and 2014 (Child Trends, 2014, p. 3). According to the Migration Policy Institute, about 88 percent of immigrant children are born in the U.S (U.S. Census Bureau, 2014). While some immigrant children and their families are able to adjust to the United States smoothly, there is still a huge percentage of immigrant children who face a number of risks to healthy development. Immigrant children are more likely than non immigrant children to live in families with a low socio economic status, to have parents with low educational attainment and to have poor health (Child Trends, 2014). In addition to the risk factors that impact immigrant families, there are also dilemmas in the parent child relationship. A major issue confronted by immigrant children and their parents is the acculturation gap that emerges over time. Immigrant children are able to adjust relatively quickly to the new culture as a result of school and other activities. While immigrant children can quickly acquire to the values and behaviors of the host culture, studies have shown that immigrant adults retain their original culture, slowing their acculturation process (Liebkind, 1996). • 26. Malcolm Knowles Andragogy Executive Summary: This paper is a research on Malcolm Knowles topic andragogy . Knowles describes andragogy as the art and science of adult learning. Andragogy focuses on special needs od adults learners, he classifies these need into six different categories: (1) need to know, (2) self concept, (3) prior experience, (4) readiness to learn, (5) learning orientation, and (6) motivation to learn. Adults have special needs as learners and these needs should be taken into consideration when planning training for adults. When adults participate in a positive learning experience that follows the six assumptions of andragogy presented in this paper, they are more likely to retain what they have learned and apply it in their work environment. Qantas Introduction: As a HR graduate, through research and examination it was found that Knowles Andragogy is the best way for adults to learn. Every group contains a configuration of idiosyncratic personalities, differing past experiences, current orientations, levels of readiness for learning, and individual learning styles. Thus trainers should be wary of prescribing any standardized approach to facilitating learning (Brookfield 1986). Understanding the six assumptions in andragogy prepares facilitators to create successful training. Qantas What is Andragogy? Malcolm Shepherd Knowles (1913 1997) was an American educator well known for the use of the term Andragogy as synonymous to the adult education. ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Most movies have the common background, and similar heroic endings, through the story is usually different from one another. The movie I will be analyzing is The Lion King. It is not the traditional superhero movie, but it has the same common principles. There were many universal themes embedded in this movie to help us connect more with the movie. Seger mentions in paragraph 13, many times...the hero doesn t want to leave, and this is true. Simba, in The Lion King, did not want to leave but he felt his father, Mufasa, death was because of him. Simba lost himself and literally almost died from running away until he got help from some unusual creatures. This is another point Seger mentions in paragraph 14, the hero usually receives help, and the help often comes from unusual sources. Without the help from Pumba and Timon, Simba realistically would have died whether from starvation or depression. These creatures taught him, Hakuna Matata, which taught Simba not to worry about things he could not fix. Thus, they helped him, in a way, get away from his past life and pain.... Many Americans, if asked, probably have many varying views and opinions on what peaceful resistance is. Now to me, peaceful resistance is when one or multiples stand for what they deem right or wrong without causing any harm to others. To me this serves as a positive because not only does it allow for people to be heard, but also for others to listen. • 45. Native American Death Rituals In this paper, we will discuss the different death rituals performed in different cultures. We view death rituals from Native Americans, Africans, those of the Chinese decent, and endocannibalism from the Fore tribe of Papua New Guinea. Death is universal to all people in every culture. Responses to how one deals with deathand dying differ greatly. Death rituals are usually based on beliefs. This can come from religion, history, language, and art. Native American traditions as well as rituals may differ from tribe to tribe. This is because each tribe may have different religious and spiritual beliefs. Although this might be the case there are many common characteristics in Native American death rituals. One belief that is common among... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Today the Chinese population still follows these traditions with a few small exceptions of modern times. All elders are given respect in the Chinese society, those living or deceased. There is a question that still remains in this culture on how to prepare a funeral of unmarried adults and children. No respect is given to a person who died as a bachelor or bachelorette, or if they did not have children. They are not considered an elder and do not have children that prepare the funeral for them. Children are also shown no respect because they do not have anyone to prepare their death ritual. They are left at their funeral home and the family members preform these burials in silence. The children in Chinese families prepare funerals for elders. It is considered proper for the children of the deceased to go into debt in order to pay respect for the older people at the funeral. The body of the dead must be washed with care, dusted with talcum powder, and dressed in the nicest clothes from the personal wardrobe before being placed in the casket for burial. All of the other clothing that belongs to the deceased elder must be burned. The deceased is never dressed in red because it is believed that it will turn the corpse into a ghost. The body is placed on a yellow cloth with the face covered, and then the body is covered with a blue cloth. All statues of deities are covered with red paper and all mirrors are removed from site in the home when preparing the home for the death ritual. The mirror is removed so that no one sees the coffin in the mirror. If someone sees the coffin in the mirror, it is believed that you will have a death within your own family soon. A white cloth is hung in the doorway and a gong is placed outside the door of the home of the deceased. If the person who is deceased is a male, it is placed on the left side; if female, it is placed ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 46. Recruitment Process For The Assistant Manager At Panera Essay The purpose of this letter is to inform you about the specific steps we have taken in the recruiting process for our assistant manager at our new Panera location in North Liberty, Iowa and what compensation strategy we plan to put in place. In order to recruit the best possible assistant manager at Panera, we plan on executing multiple recruiting methods including local advertisements, referrals from current employees of Panera, and posting the open position to general job listing sites and the corporate website. Recruiting can be described as the process of developing a pool of qualified candidates (Williams, p. 223). We are looking for someone to fill the assistant manager position that is highly qualified and shows an exemplary set of skills. We are going to be looking externally for an assistant manager who can bring in new ideas and perspectives that can make our company thrive since many establishments that rely exclusively on network hiring tend to be small, less formalized, and in the private sector (Marsden, 1994). We are going to be targeting employees that we think will fit the job description well which includes being able to complete the tasks, duties, and responsibilities expected of them and that they will fit in along with current staff members. Along with advertising in the local newspaper we will be looking at possible referrals, posting the job on general job listing sites as well as the corporate website for Panera. General job listing sites are ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 47. Dylan Klebold Assassination The morning of April 20th, 1999 was one that will never be forgotten. The day started off as what was supposed to be a normal day in Jefferson County, Colorado, for the students attending Columbine High School. Students were piling into the school, chatting with their friends, waiting for their classes to start. Nobody expected what would happen next. At approximately 11:19 AM, Eric Harris and Dylan Klebold, students of Columbine High School, began to open fire at students, teachers, and finally took the lives of themselves around 12:00 PM. The shooters of Columbine, Eric Harris, and Dylan Klebold s, mental states led them to plan out, and to kill 13 people, and themselves, on the morning of April 20th, 1999. Eric Harris was born on April... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... They came to school in separate cars and waited for the bombs to go off, which would lead to students running outside where they would then begin to open fire. When the bombs did not successfully go off, they began to shoot outside the school, and then entered the school. The shooting lasted approximately 45 minutes. When the planned events were not successful, the two boys injured more than twenty students, and killed 13 of them. Right before the attack had ended in the cafeteria, Eric Harris turned the gun on himself and shot him in the head. When Dylan saw what he had done, he then killed himself. Dylan Klebold did not suffer from any mental illnesses that we know of. Dylan Klebold s inability to make romantic relationships, lack of friends, and hatred he had mentally built up inside of him for his classmates, led him to attack that morning with no warning signs. He was in a mental state that influenced his attack, with the help of his friend Eric ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
