Livia
Not only does the technology of Indra freely allow the citizens to play with their fragile emotions,
but also their physical appearance. Kendall and Kylie Jenner further show the suppression of
individual freedom and humanity, by the women in Indra changing how they look through
technological devices. The city of Indra demands all women receive beauty implantations. It is
evident that beauty is critical in Indra once Livia says, Marius is a mere five foot two, a burden for
which most Indrithian women would be utterly devastated. Had they not reached five foot eight by
the age of thirteen, they would have already partaken of every alteration available. They would

She has yet to have the sparkle put back in, which is a very painful procedure (Jenner 31). The
quotation above, explains how critical beauty enhancements are in the society of Indra. It proves
that as the technology in the industry of plastic surgery develops, it becomes more demanding
within the city of Indra. Livia is talking about her godmother, Governess. Livia s godmother is
consumed with beauty and the way she looks. She constantly revisits rejuvenation island, no one
can truly tell who she really is due to all the alterations she has undergone. The passage provided
is significant to the novel because it shows that the society is obsessed with all forms of
technology that become available in Indra. Societal beauty standards are something that is
prominent within the current generation of youth. All around the world people try to change
themselves and conceal who they are, to gain a feeling of superiority. Like in our society , in
Indra, Plastic surgery is constantly being raved about because it is a type of technology to enhance
citizens life style. However, It just takes away all women of Indra s right to be themselves. Beauty

Death In A. E. Houseman s To An Athlete Dying Young
Death is an unavoidable element of the world in which we live. The rich and the poor, the strong
and the weak, the brave and the cowardly all must face the end of existence one day. People in
this world often choose to ignore this looming threat and live their lives as if this terminus does
not exist. One does not fall into this trend category: A. E. Houseman. As said by one observer
There are two themes in Houseman: man s morality...and man s rebellion against his lot. (Conolly
49). Houseman s poem To An Athlete Dying Young is no exception. Here he delves into the
dreaded and complex subject of early death(Ruby ed. 228, 230). In the poem To an Athlete Dying
Young from A Shropshire Lad by A.E. Housman one can see the choices in his style, which are
used to cover both sides of the central theme of death, and the author s use of symbolism as a
device. To An Athlete Dying Young has multiple noticeable features in its style. The poem is
written in the form of a narrative poem, or lyric ballad, in which a story is told. This form of... Show

In this passage Houseman mentions And early though the laurel grows, It withers quicker than
the rose (Houseman 32). For this reason the laurel is symbolic of accomplishment, fame, and
honor. This symbol ties into another meaning of the poem. As the critic Bruce Meyers explained
The difference between the crowning of garlands is the irony at the heart of the poem. The hero
s crown... that the town pays the athlete on his victory, withers away like the floral headgear of a
young girl. As he concludes, The message is that death is the final victor. (Meyers 236). The
laurel is representative of our short lives and they wither quickly like the athlete. With each
season the flowers first bloom, then flourish, and finally dry up; life does not remain for long
(Ruby ed. 233, 235). Here the poem offers another perspective where death is the victor over the

Osamu Tresemme Research Paper
Dwight Howard once stated; Today is a new day. Even if you were wrong yesterday, you can get it
right today. In life, one must take a glimpse of the world and do something that causes change. Even
though it may take time for creativity to reach you, you can still influence the world to make an
adjustment. Osamu Tezukawas a mangaartist who lived from 1928 1989. He was born in
Toyonaka, Japan ( Osamu Tezuka, 2010). Osamu Tezuka was known as The Father of Anime
and the
God of Manga. Although he did not invent manga or Japanese comics, he was able to show his
style with the United States, causing manga and anime to become popular. He created over
150,000 pages of manga and over 500 episodes of anime. Osamu s drawing style contributed to
making anime and manga successful all over the world.
Osamu Tezuka was known as the Father of Manga and The God of Anime. Although he did not
invent manga or Japanese comics, he developed a new style for them. He created the manga,
Astro Boy in 1951, which became an animated television series in the early 1960s. Later it
evolved into a western animated film, digital download, and a puppet show. In Japan, Astro Boy is

founder of Studio Ghibli) and Akira Toriyama have cited Tezuka as an inspiration of some of
their works. Even after Osamu s death in 1989, some places in Japan still commemorate him. In
the city of Takarazuka, they opened a museum in his memory in 1994. Stamps were made in honor

Solution Focused Therapy ( Sft )
Clients come for mental health treatment for a variety of different reasons and there are a variety
of different approaches that can be used to assist those clients. Solution focused therapy (SFT) is
one of those approaches. Examined are the treatment approach of SFT, the theory associated,
evidence to support the treatment, the effectiveness with youth and culturally diverse clients, and
the limitation of the approach. SFT treatment approach can be used with an individual and or
families. The treatment emphasizes the strengths and sources of resiliency that a client or family
has to promote positive change (Hook, 2014). The therapy enables the client to focus on solutions
from the past that could be helpful in creating new realities (Hook, 2014). One of the inventors of
SFT referred to it as a way to carry on a practical conversation with clients (Jong, 2015). The
conversation is used to co construct solutions. The clinician asks questions not knowing the
response (Jong, 2015). Furthermore, the conversations focus on what the client wants to be
different and how to make that occur (Jong, 2015). While using SFT the clinician has several
assumptions that guide the sessions. First, a client is competent to co construct goals (Jong, 2015).
Second, the client is the expert of their own life (Jong, 2015). Third, the problemand solution do not
necessarily have a connection (Jong, 2015). Fourth, the client has to do something different for
change to occur (Jong, 2015). Fifth,

The Awakening Feminism Essay
Coming into the nineteenth century, women were looked at as feminist. Feminism, as we know the
term today, was nonexistent in nineteenth century America (Cruea 187). Feminist describes as
someone embracing the beliefs that all people are entitled to freedom and liberty within reason.
Gender, sexual orientations, skin color, ethnicity, religion, culture or lifestyle should not be
considered as a form of discrimination. Women roles, in the nineteenth century, were to take care
of the cooking, cleaning, caring for the children and making sure the husbands were comfortable
after long days of work. As years pass, women begin to find work, attain a voter rights and even

Noticing Edna s distance in her marriage came early on in the beginning of The Awakening.
During the summers in Grand Isle, Edna spends most of her summers days and nights with Robert
Lebrun and Adele Ratignolle, just sitting out lounging and talking by the shore about everything.
Robert was a young man that vacationed at Grand Isle each summer. He mainly found a different
married woman each summer, on the Island, to entertain. This did not affect the mind set of Edna
s in the beginning where there relationship started off very innocent. Adele Ragitnolle is one of
Edna s married Creole friends. She is very elegance and charming. Adele is a simple wife and
mother that spend her time taking care of her husband and kids. Edna and Adele shares intimate
conversations which reminds her of dreams. She learns a great deal from Adele over the
summer, some things that made her tap more into her independence. Eventually Edna begins to
take part in the exploring her life outside of her marriage. Edna began to take interest in Robert
and less interest in being a wife and mother. She was in the mist of trying to understand and find
her true self as she explored her options to freedom and tries to fulfill life as she sees it. In The
Awakening, Edna was met by a few things that helped grasp understanding of the freedom that she
has been longing for. The start of her awakening came from her first swim in the

Keeping Your Grill s Exhaust System
Running a restaurant can be a challenging task for a variety of reasons, but keeping your grill s
exhaust system clean should not be a task that causes you stress or concern. This type of work is
essential both for to prevent grease fires from starting in your exhaust system as well as providing
a sanitary place for the preparation of food. If you have a thorough understanding of two basic
questions new kitchen managers may have about this process, you should find managing this aspect
of your kitchen to be far easier than you may have originally thought.

Discourse on Method Essay example
Discourse on Method
Heuresis (or invention) comprises, as Richard Lanham notes, the first of the five traditional parts
of rhetorical theory, concerned with the finding and elaboration of arguments (1991: 91). In
Aristotle s Rhetoric the category of heuresis included the kinds of proof available to the
rhetorician, lists of valid and invalid topoi, as well as the various commonplaces the rhetorician
might touch upon loci or stereotypical themes and observations ( time flies ) appropriate to a given
occasion
(Lanham 1991: 166 170). In a more contemporary sense heuretic is defined by the OED as the
branch of logic which treats of the art of discovery or invention. Both senses of this word, along
with its more familiar cognate ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Ulmer s book presents itself, in part, as a heuristic device for enabling such new forms of research
and text production from the inventio provided by Jacques Derrida. In The Other Heading, reflecting
on contemporary Europe,
Derrida repeats a fundamental question posed by Paul Valery in 1939 in the wake of fascism:
What are you going to do?
What are you going to do today? (1992: 18, cited in Ulmer 84). Ulmer sees his work as a
response, in 1992, to this call for invention. Ulmer s text also presents itself as providing a method
for the contemporary paradigm (12) of poststructuralism comparable to the method Descartes
provided for an emergent scientific rationalism. He is quick, however, to qualify this project for
any attempt at a postmodernist method is contradictory (an impossible possibility) (25). In one of
the most suggestive sections of work, the initial chapter contends that all of the manifestos of the
avant garde, belong to the tradition of the discourse on method (8), and provides an analysis of the
common elements comprising such discourses. They are
representable for mnemonic reference by the acronym CATTt (8).
C = Contrast (opposition, inversion, differentiation) A = Analogy (figuration, displacement) T =
Theory (repetition, literalization) T = Target (application, purpose) t = Tale (secondary elaboration,
representability) (8)
Thus Descartes discourse on method

Cooper et al., a quasi experimental design was done to assess the nurse teams abilities to manage

showed that only 64% of nurses knew that their patient s condition was deteriorating. A 57% rating
was given for teamwork. Overall, this study showed that there was a low application of knowledge
shown by the nurses. It is suggested that nurses be taught how to identify when a patient s condition
is deteriorating (Cooper et al., 2012). According to Chan, Zhou, Liaw (2013), ineffective nurse
physician collaboration leads to work dissatisfaction and compromised quality patient care. A
literature search was done to explore the attitudes of physicians and nurses towards their
collaboration, the factors that affect physician nurse collaboration, and also strategies to improve
this. Results showed that physicians viewed the physician nurse collaboration as less important,
although they rated the quality of the collaboration higher than the nurses did. Factors that affected
the collaboration included respect, trust, unequal power, understanding their roles, and also task

Net Neutrality Essay
As protests continue to protect net neutrality, more online companies join in by displaying
warnings on their websites, stating how the FCC, or the Federal Communications Commission,
will change the rules for net neutrality which would affect the way people will use the internet.
Sites such as Reddit, Esty, and Kickstarter included these warning in the form of pop up boxes and
Kickstarter cleared its home page to communicate to users with the message Defend Net Neutrality.
On Tuesday, the large tech companies did not participate in the protest. A senior vice president at

The definition of Net Neutrality is the principle that internet service providers should enable access
to all content and applications regardless of the source, and without favoring or restricting access
to certain products or websites. If this principle were to be repealed, the government will decide
what is put on the internet and you would have to pay to access some websites or apps, or
internet providers might just block access to particular apps. I agree with the fight to defend net
neutrality because the internet is an important source of information. If net neutrality were to be
repealed, we would have limited access to information. This article is important enough to share
in the news because the news websites could be blocked because of the things that they report on.
For example, someone with a higher authority may want a news network blocked by the news they

Analysis Of The Diary Of A Young Girl
The Diary of a Young Girl is a raw account that expresses the true fear and confusion of the
Holocaust. The Franks lived in a little bubble during the span in the diary; they knew and could see
events happening but couldn t imagine what was inside the concentration camps until they
experienced it themselves. Many people felt this way before the war, and luckily the Frankswere
able to delay being sent the camps by a few years. The Franks and the other inhabitants of the
Annex were a miracle. They were one of the few that were able to pull off hiding from the Nazis
for extended time and were still able to share their story. Though their life might have been
heavenly compared to the dreadful deaths in the camps, there were tough challenges they had to
face, their relationships tensions rose dramatically, and watching the outside world disappear
beneath their eyes was painful. Some might say they had it lucky, but Anne didn t always agree.
Despite the fact that they were fortunate in hiding, there were many challenges that they had to
succumb to. Since the Secret Annex was still an office during the war, there were constant
visitors and any crucial move or sound could expose their cover. Black out curtains were also
necessary as any bystander could look through the window and see them when they left a long
time ago. Even flushing the toilet was a big risk the pipelines flowed directly through the
warehouse and would make noise when activated. Staying inside as well as wandering outside
had risks too. The residents of the Secret Annex, just like members of concentration camps,
easily fell to sicknesses. There was no filtration of the air and the cramped spaces made them
more vulnerable to disease. Though Mr. Pfeffer was a dentist, they had no other access to
physicians/doctors. Food was also an issue. Though the Franks, van Pels, and Mr. Pfeffer were
pretty privileged, food was again limited. It would be taunting to know they have utensils and heat
sources but nothing to make. Rations were provided for a while, but they were lacking in value.
One St. Nick s Day, they were lucky enough to receive an extra quarter pound of butter a true
blessing. Nothing was taken for granted, though arguments were

Economic Integration Is Defined As An Economic Adjustment
Economic integration is defined as an economic disposition between different divisions that are
associated together through the synchronisation of fiscal and monetary policies as well as the
reduction or elimination of barriers to entry for trading. The sole aims of economic integration are
to succour both consumers and producers, by minimising costs, and also to maximise trade between
the countries which are involved.
In total, there are 8 stages in the economic integration operation, starting from a highly loose
alliance of countries in a preferential trade area, to a completely economically integrated coalition,
whereby all the economies of the member countries in the union are thoroughly integrated. The first

The EU is also a politico economic union comprising of 28 different countries as of 2013 that are

The United Kingdom has long been a part of European Union, since 1973, and the European Union
membership has always had a strong influence on the United Kingdom s economy in numerous
ways. The effects which are most important emerges through a programme of economic
integration in which EU s four freedoms the freedom of movement of goods, services, capital
and people are reassured, known as the Single Market. The impact of EU s membership to the UK
is not only felt in the economic sector, but can also be felt in the areas of its policies too.
First and foremost, the most fundamental economic benefit that the United Kingdom experiences
would be the positive effect of free movement of goods and services across and between European
countries. The free movement of their goods and services should be able to prompt and increase
its trade, with the barriers of entry being stripped away. Theoretically, all Member States in the
European Union are able to benefit from this because it grants them the opportunity to specialise in
those goods and services that they are proportionately more coherent at producing.
Furthermore, domestic producers

Analysis Of Rugrats And It Has Some Of The Most Memorable...
The 90 s was an era full of amazing television series and animation shows that depicted a wide
range of characters from a decent assortment of diverse backgrounds for the time. One of my
favorite shows was the series Rugrats and it has some of the most memorable and recognizable
characters on the planet. For this case study, I want to discuss Chuckie Finster. Chuckie is best
known for being Tommy Pickles best friend, his crazy red hair, his big purple glasses, and for being
the skittish older friend of the bunch who was always unsure of the world around them. Initially,
this paper will focus on his reluctant and meticulous nature, then a deep analysis of Chuckie and his
underlying problems will better help in attempting to find viable treatments that would potentially
help Chuckie in the long term.
The term abnormal is usually defined as any departure from the typical; therefore abnormal
behavior is any pattern of responding that is rare or unusual. (Poling, et.al, 1990, p.281) Looking
throughout the Rugrats series, I believe that Chuckie does display some abnormal behaviors,
especially for his age. I find that it is imperative to mention that the characters in this show are
primarily toddlers under the age of three, with Chuckie being two and his companions being about
a year and a half years old. With this in mind, one must realize that what is considered normal to
toddlers is not always understood to be normal in the real world and adult society. Identifying

Bilirubin Test Results
Why am I having this test?
The bilirubin test is used to evaluate liver function. Your health care provider may recommend this
test:
If you have hemolytic anemia.
For a newborn who has jaundice.
What is being tested?
This test measures the level of bilirubin in the body. Bilirubin is produced when red blood cells are
broken down. Normally, bilirubin is broken down in the liver and excreted as a component of bile.
However, when red blood cells are broken down more quickly than usual, or when there is a
dysfunction in how bile is excreted, bilirubin levels can become elevated. In newborns with
jaundice, elevated bilirubin levels may put the child at risk for brain damage.
What kind of sample is taken?
This test can be performed using one of the following methods: ... Show more content on

This is usually collected by inserting a needle into a blood vessel.
Urine sample. This is collected using a sterile container that is given to you by the lab.
How do I prepare for this test?
Fasting requirements for this test may vary among different labs. You may be asked not to eat or
drink anything except water after midnight on the night before the test.
How are the results reported?
Your test results will be reported as a range of values. You will compare your results to normal
ranges that were established after testing a large group of healthy people. Reference ranges may
vary among different people, labs, and hospitals. For this test, reference ranges are:
Blood samples
Newborn total bilirubin: 1 12 mg/dL or 17.1 205 micromole/liter (SI units).
Adult, child, or elderly:
Total bilirubin: 0.3 1 mg/dL or 5.1 17 micromole/liter (SI units).
Indirect bilirubin: 0.2 0.8 mg/dL or 3.4 12 micromole/liter (SI units).

Dracula-The Evolution Of The Vampire In Fiction And...
The New Outlook on Vampires
The idea of an undead night stalker that feeds on human blood has been around for centuries and
endures to this day. Numerous countries and cultures across the globe have personal deviations of a
similar folkloric entity. No matter the variation, all vampire tales have a key commonality the lust
for human blood. It was not until the late 19th century that an Irish author compiled a breadth of
knowledge on such folkloric tales and concocted the character that now acts as the template for the
vampire myth. Bram Stoker s Dracula was first published in 1897 and from that point forward the
novelist s title character set the precedent for all fictional vampires. The Evolution of the Vampire

Flight 800 Research Papers
We all get a little scared when we step on to a plane. All we want is to get from destination to the
other without any complications. Four hundred and and sixty nine people probably wanted the
same thing. In 1996 twohundred and thirty people died on a flight that exploded a few minutes
after taking off. In 2014 twohundred and thirtynine are presumed dead on a flight that is still
missing to this day. So the question is what really happened to these flights? In 1996 Trans World
Airlines flight 800 was in route Rome with a stopover in Paris, when it exploded only twelve
minutes after take off. The accident report states that the cause of the explosion was from the center

An air traffic controler shares what he saw on that day in 1996 I thought it was a landing light,
but then it headed straight for the plan, and then the plane blew. (Nita Hiltner). James Sanders,
the author of the The Downing Of TWA flight 800, has spent the last 18 years investigating this
event, he recently announced that the flight was brought down accidentally by two missiles
fired from a Navy Vessel and/or submarine that were in the area to intercept a smaller plane
involved in a plot to bring down the commercial flight . A cover up by the FBI and the NTSB
(National Transportation Safety Board) was extensive, involving intimidation of witnesses and
investigators, tampering with evidence, false testimony before Congress, censoring reports, and
numerous violations of protocols. Some of the government s own official investigators said that
the explosions occurred outside the airplane. They were permitted to testify with that evidence. A
piece of metal from a destroyed or missing plane can tell a big story. Early last year detectives
were brought to the attention of a piece of scrap washed up on the Reunion Island in early July.

Medical Injection
Traditional injection uses a syringe to insert liquid into body. The purpose of medical injection is to
pierce the material into the sufficient depth of skin. This kind of injection needs to use large
number of syringe needles, and according to [62],clients reported that an average of 8.7% of
injections employed shared syringe needles. Data from the Coalition for safe Community
Needle Disposal showed that in the year of 2011, 13.5 million people in the United States
produced 7.8 billion used sharps(needles, syringes, etc.) outside the traditional healthcare, and 1
million to 1.5 million of needles were used for illegal drug injections. Since blood borne
infections, like HIV, HBV, and HCV, can be commonly spread by sharing intravenous syringes,
huge number of substandard and illegal use of needles compares to share rate of 8.7%, the
potential spread of these infections cannot be ignored. Meanwhile, on the other side, the
application of micro needle can to large extent avoid this from its source. Micro needles, which are
recently developed by the Georgia Institute of Technology and the Centers for Disease Control and
Prevention(CDC) [63, 64], are small patches that can be administered by untrained users. Small
needles are placed on the patch of about a square centimeter.... Show more content on

Spectral element method used in computational fluid dynamics is explained in [15] and [46].
For spectral element models of micro needle, the process is divided into two parts, the model of
flow in micro needle and the model of solution flux inside human skin. Incompressible
NavierStokes equations with slip boundary condition are solved inside micro needle. And the
human skin is treated as porous media, so Darcy Brinkman equation is solved to simulate this
process. At the same time, the output data of micro needle are taken as initial conditions of Darcy

The Iranian Hostage Crisis Of Iran
In 1979, the United States of America was presented with a situation unlike any before: they
received word that their embassy in Tehran, Iran, had been overtaken and all members of the
embassy save six were being held hostage by Iranian revolutionaries. The road leading to this
climactic period in American and Iranian history led back to almost thirty years of growing anti
American resentment. The Shah and the Supreme Ayatollah of Iranwere at odds, creating a power
struggle unlike any seen in modern history. The interaction of Western influence and Islamic culture
and social structure reacted in an explosive way, culminating in what is now called the Iranian
Hostage Crisis. The beginning factors in the Iranian Revolutionand subsequent... Show more content

In response, the rest of the world started a boycott of Iranian oil, and the British began planning a
military operation to wrest control from Mossadegh. They worked with President Dwight
Eisenhower and the American CIA to organize a coup of sorts, by funding and inciting pro shah
supporters to take to the streets and demand the removal of Mossadegh, who was an erratic and
unpredictable ruler. The operation was successful and threw Mossadegh out of power, but not
without many unintended consequences (Farber, 56). Within Iran, Islamic fundamentalists
following Ayatollah Ruhollah Khomeini were greatly angered by the American influence and
disruption, and the seeds of revolution were planted. Fast forward twenty five years, and we arrive
at the beginning of the Iranian Revolution. In August of 1978, riots and civil violence were
escalating dramatically within Iran, as supporters of the Iranian Shah and the Supreme Ayatollah
Ruhollah Khomeini clashed in demonstrations that frequently turned lethal. The problem for
American President Jimmy Carter was that both sides represented different evils, as the Shah
employed the use of the SAVAK, the Iranian secret police, as well as torture to maintain control; but
Khomeini represented a vehement hatred for all Western influence in his country, and his
supporters often lit cinemas and other Western symbols on fire (Farber, 92). One incident in

China s Rise and the US Japan s Respond
China s rising has become predominant issue after more than two decade since it opened it
economy for the world capital. China has become center of economic growth in the region since it
started to become economically integrated to globalized world. Concurrently with that
development, China military capability grows to become more powerful. In 2013 SIPRI reported

cent from 2012, and doubled from expense in 2004 (Deutsche PresseВAgentur 2014).

The end of the Cold War that created peaceful space and flourishing Chinese economic growth
influenced the speed of military modernization and shifted its focus on protection of maritime
resources and defending of territorial issue in the south and southeast (Ross 2009: 55; Storey 2008:
115).
Meanwhile in southern part of its territory several maritime dispute disputes began to attract
China s attention. During early decade of 1990s, China had just ratified United Nations
Convention on the Law of the Sea 1982 (UNCLOS 1982) in 1992. The ratification is going to
allow China to claim 200 nautical miles as its exclusive economic zone (EEZ) and could exploit
oil and gas located in South China Sea basin. Beside that, the growing tension because of Taiwan s
independence in 1990 had significantly altered China focus to the South and modernization its
military force. Geopolitical nature of the potential maritime conflict in the south had forced China
to modernize its naval power (Storey 2008: 115).
This could be considered as changing posture of China s military capability from cumbersome
continental power towards more modern and dynamic naval power in responding future political
and military dispute in the southern part of its territory (Ross 2009: 56). China s military

Major League Baseball s change to the sliding rules has already begun to have a negative impact on

aggravation with the rule surfaced from coaches and players.
After getting burned by the rule last week in a game against the Tampa Bay Rays, the Blue Jays
Jose Bautista called it a bad rule. Toronto manager, John Gibbons had even more comments after
Bautista s slide into second was ruled a double play. Gibbons said, Are we trying to turn the game

The MLB s goal is to prevent broken legs, and clarify the sliding rule for umpires. The officials
on the field that day said Tejada had not tagged the bag once the ball was caught. Utley got the
base and ultimately two more runs scored during the seventh inning of a decisive game.
Rule 6.01 (j) now explicitly states that the runner has to make a bona fide slide and should be able
and attempt to remain on the base (except home plate) after the completion of the slide. The player
must be able to make and take the base without colliding with a player from the opposing team.
The trouble that I have is, well, physics. It is kind of crazy to expect a player to slow their speed
down, or move a bit more to the left or the right, and stick the landing, when momentum rules the
moment. This is not gymnastics. Has the MLB heard of Newton s first law of motion? An object at
rest stays at rest and an object in motion stays in motion with the same speed and in the same
direction.

Man was born from the tears of Ra, and as man is created in his image is issued from his flesh, the
earth was created to provide care and support for mankind (Encyclopedia, Re). Art allows
individuals to interpret different cultures to understand traditions and the aspects in that community
that the civilization valued the most. Although, every culture has their own way of representing

Overeaters Anonymous on 6/29/2015. The group participates in the H.O.W. program of Overeaters
Anonymous. H.O.W. stands for the principles of honesty, open mindedness, and willingness. The
meeting took place at St. Andrew s Episcopal Church, located at 2535 East Broadway St. in
Pearland. The format for this meeting was an open meeting. The meeting was an informal, but
structured meeting, observing both the 12 Step recovery approach, and the Overeaters Anonymous

knowledge and understanding. Closed meetings accept and consist of only recovering addicts.
Regardless of the meeting type, these meetings have some general expectations:
Every attendee deserves respect.
Personal experiences are shared voluntarily; if someone wishes to remain silent, they can.
Some meetings may include speakers who can share their own insights.
Only first names are used, and attendance is never disclosed outside of a meeting.
Any money gathered is given by choice; no fees are ever demanded.
Although meetings may be held in public spaces or religious buildings, no affiliation should be
assumed.
Overeaters Anonymous utilizes a peer support system, reassuring each member that they are not
alone, and are not the only ones who have an addiction to food. The goal is to remain abstinent
with overeating. This accomplished by face to face meetings three times per week, sponsorship, in
which the recovering person makes four telephone contacts per day with their sponsor, self analysis

Angel Gabriel Looks At Mariana And Not Mary
What is more interesting is that Angel Gabriel looks at Mariana and not Mary in the painting
which suggests a hope, she wants her love to be consummated, a Gabriel to come to her and inform
her but it intensifies the pathos even further. Mary which in Hebrew means uncertainty, as she was
uncertain whether she would be able to conceive until Gabriel arrived but Mary (uncertainty) + Ann
(graceful) leads us to Mariana who is gracefully expecting even though she is uncertain about her
destiny. The heraldry depicts snowdrop which represents consolation, according to floral
symbolism. However, it is the flower associated with the ritual of St. Agnes Eve, when adolescent
girls hope for visionary glimpses of prospective husbands. These meta representations projects the
mental state of the subject sometimes through contrast and ironyas well. We see an altar, a private
devotional space so we have a sense of her life being taken up between prayer and meditation
which in turn accentuates the theme of longing. The metallic objects add to the visual irony as a
church like atmosphere of marriage is being created in Mariana s room which is never possible.
Mariana still wears a waistband which can symbolise her hopes of conjugal bliss which is clearly
visible against the deep hue of her dress. The presence of the only animal in the painting, that is the
mouse, who seems to be her ironic companion and in terms of materiality it is equated with
Mariana s secluded existence. The

Chronic Periodontal Disease
Periodontal disease is the leading cause of tooth loss in adults. It is thought that nearly 85% of
adults have some stage of periodontal disease. With that being said it means periodontal disease
is more common than heart disease and cancer. The good thing about this disease is that if it is
caught in an early stage it can be reversible, but if it is left untreated it can become very dangerous
leading to tooth loss and possibly surgery.
Periodontal disease refers to a group of problems that arise in the crevice between the gum and the
tooth or the gum sulcus. The disease is normally categorized into two groups, it has several
different phases and progresses. The first group is called gingivitis which is an inflammation of the

There are many categories of periodontal disease. They include chronic periodontitis, aggressive
periodontitis, disease related periodontitis, and acute necrotizing periodontal disease. Just because
you have gingivitis does not mean you will get periodontitis, in fact some experts believe that they
are two very different diseases. Chronic periodontitis is basically the same thing as gingivitis but it
has a few more symptoms including; halitosis, a persistent metallic taste in the mouth, and gingival
recession. Most patients who have this will not even worry or they might not even know. Most of
the time inflammation and bone destruction is painless, patients just assume that they just need to
floss more or brush more often. This can often be solved by better oral care. Patients who suffer
from aggressive periodontitis are normally younger than patients who have the chronic form. People
who have this are generally healthy other than the presence of periodontal disease. These people
will experience rapid loss of periodontal attachment fibers and bone destruction. They also will have
a depressed neutrophil function, the neutrophils can also be defective, resulting in depressed
chemotaxis and phagocytosis. Patients with this

Symbols Used In The Bell Jar

sitting under the same glass bell jar, stewing in my own sour air (Plath 185). In this illustration,
the cloudy and dark bell jar portrays a feeling of drowning. To visualize this pain, I imagined
Esther in a fetal like position on the floor of the jar trying to escape; thus, the arm is revealed in a

jar with darkness, leaving no trace of Esther s mental or physical state. To contrast with this dark
state, I covered the background with a minty light green to represent the stability, freedom, and
comfort that Esther yearns. This escape from death is the rebirth of Esther, and compliments with

Why is an MBA degree sought after? Some insight can be provided by Susan Miller (2011),
author of The Essential MBA, Few Masters degrees require a learner to have such a wide
ranging command of so many, often fairly disparate areas of enquiry (p. 1). Another way to
interpret the quote from Ms. Miller s book is that obtaining an MBA degree is challenging and
requires a different type of perseverance than other master degrees require. The intention of this
introduction is to provide insight into Judson s MBA program before the first business discipline
essay is read in the body of this book. Through the authors essays, the overarching intent of this
book is to broaden the reader s understanding of Judson s MBA program through application and
insight of the disciplines taught throughout the program. Through that understanding and
perception, the authors hope the reader is compelled to consider Judson University as a choice
for an MBA Degree. This book is being written by a cohort of MBA students, a number of whom
have graduate degrees in other disciplines. They can vouch for the fact an MBA program is
different from other masters programs where the student dives deep into a subject area. An MBA

В·Fresh water fishers and mid sized boat owners were the most likely to buy the product. From
exhibit 4, techsonic already is a market leader in freshwater LCD units and 901 would increase
its market share. В·Based on techsonic retail pricing plan of $441 for standard unit and $629 for

Quotes From The Jamestown S Klallam Tribe
How strong are you? One of my favorite quotes is You never know how strong you are until being
strong is the only choice you have is a quote that might connect to some more than others In all,
this quote represents struggle and the resilience someone has to possess to make it through
whatever they re going through. The Jamestown S Klallam tribe(The Strong People) originated in

The mink shares a profusion with the settlers, due to them both being selfish. I made this
connection for the reason that within almost every native tribe, you re considered being malicious
by not share or bragging. The tale is wildly similar to reality based on my insight but researching

Sports Journalism Essay
Sports Journalism
For my career research paper I have chosen to delve into the world of the sportswriter, and take a
closer look at what that occupation may hold for myself. I have chosen to research this form of
journalism because I consider myself to be a sports fanatic, and would very much enjoy
spending the rest of my working days writing about the conditions in the world of sports. During
the last year or so I have taken a period of time everyday to relax and read over sports articles from
baseball and football at some of my favorite websites, such as espn.com or nesn.com, or to sit
down and watch Sports Center on ESPN. I also seem to have an ability to remember statistics and
rosters of players and ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Writers are found in their office in the morning, and they have afternoons off unless there is a game
or interview that they are supposed to cover. Nights are spent covering an event or interview and
then writing the article for it afterwards that night (Heitzman 44). Sports journalism can be a
difficult occupation at times, but it can also be very rewarding. To help cover games better writers
get tickets for excellent seats at all events they are assigned to, they meet with sports stars and
coaches (if they are not a writer in a small town newspaper), and sometimes you travel abroad to
cover events (Heitzman 44).
A sportswriter in a small town newspaper would be one of two employees in the sports section.
The other employee is the editor. The small town newspaper sportswriter collects information
about local teams and games and writes about them. National stories are often taken from
acclaimed papers such as The Associated Press (Heitzman 44). In a larger city s newspaper, the
sports department may have 10 employees. All of these employees have a certain sport that they
excel in writing about, such as football, baseball, hockey, basketball, golf, or high school sports
(Heitzman 44).
Sportswriters oftentimes will work odd hours. Writers for morning newspapers will work in the
afternoon and evening five days a week including Saturday. That

Did The Amount Of Salt Affect The Mass Of Ice Cream
Title: Did the amount of salt used in ice cream formation effect the mass of ice cream produced?
Purpose
To discover whether varied amounts of salt used in ice cream formation effected the mass of the
final product.
Background InformationIn order for water or milk to freeze, the temperature needs to be at or
below 0ВєC. In order to lower the freezing point of solution, different solutes can be added. A
solution is created by dissolving a solute into a solvent, such as dissolving sugar (solute) into water
(solvent). The process of decreasing a freezing point of a liquid by dissolving a solute into a
solution is referred to as freezing point depression. The freezing point is a colligative property,
which means that the freezing point depends on the number of solute particles dissolved in a
solution. For example, CaCl2, which has three particles, would lower the freezing point of a
solution more than NaCl would, which only has two particles (Helmenstine).
Freezing point depression is used in the world around us, such as when salt is placed onto roads
during winter during which the temperature is around or right below 0ВєC to prevent any
precipitation that falls from freezing onto the road. When salt (NaCl) is introduced to ice, hydrogen
bonds in the ice require more energy to join together. This energy is found in the form of heat
energy, decreasing the temperature of the small amount of melted water surrounding the ice
(Litherland) . By placing salt onto roads

Holmes purchased a lot across from the drugstore and built what would be later known as his
Murder Castle (which is where it is believed that he hid the bodies of Dr. E.S. Holton and his
wife). Holmes would open it up as a hotel for the World s Columbian Exposition in 1893, with
part of the structure used as commercial space. The ground floor of the Castle contained Holmes
s own relocated drugstore and various shops, while the upper two floors contained his personal
office and a maze of over one hundred windowless rooms with doorways opening to brick walls,
oddly angled hallways, stairways to nowhere, doors opened only from the outside, and a host of
other strange and labyrinthine constructions. Holmes repeatedly changed builders during the
construction of the Castle, so only he fully understood the design of the house, thus decreasing the
chance of being reported to the police.
Holmes selected mostly female victims from among his employees (many of which were
required as a condition of employment to take out life insurance policies for which Holmes
would pay the premiums but also be the beneficiary), as well as his lovers and hotel guests. He
tortured and killed them in some of the worst possible ways you could imagine. Some were
locked in soundproof bedrooms fitted with gas lines that let him asphyxiate them at any time and
some were locked in a huge soundproof bank vault near his office where they were left to
suffocate. He

Frank Gehry Essay
Frank Gehry
Quote
When everybody else is ready for the ending, I m just ready to begin, Frank Gehry once wrote. It s
been the story of my life (qtd. in Templer, 1999, pp.1) Laying the Foundation
Born on 28 February 1929 in Toronto, Canada, Frank O. Goldberg entered a household with a
strong Polish and Jewish heritage. Twenty years earlier, Thelma Caplanski left Poland with her
parents, a couple with deep religious morals. Once they settled in Toronto, the two decided to
change their last name to Caplan. The owner of a hardware store, her father was also the president
of a synagogue. His wife, Frank s grandmother, was said to have good visual abilities. Thelma

The Goldberg family relocated to Timmins, Ontario during Frank s adolescent years.
Unfortunately, during these times, Frank saw how mean kids can be as he was given the
nickname Fish . People did not accept his religion, Judaism, and the nickname was supposed to put
him down but Frank would later use that as a basis for his some of his creations. During this time,
he explored atheism because of these difficulties (Hines, 1986).
Finding and Designing Love
After Frank s father grew sick, the Goldberg family moved to Los Angeles where some of the
family already resided. Ironically, they lived in an apartment that was close to where the Loyola
Law School would be built in later years, according to Frank s blueprints. At this time, the family
was struggling for money and Frank had to find a job. He worked as a delivery truck man who
installed breakfast nooks. It was through this job that Frank would meet Anita Snyder, a woman
who he married later in 1952. Two years later, with the permission of his family, Frank decided
to change their last name to Gehry. The couple had two daughters and the three followed Gehry
to an army base in Georgia (Hines, 1986) and then to Paris (Hines, 1986; Templer, 1999).
Eventually, got divorced in 1966. Frank s relationship problems are similar to those that Gardner
refers to in his geniuses lives (Hines, 1986). Yet, Frank got remarried ten years later to Berta Isabel

  • 2. Livia Not only does the technology of Indra freely allow the citizens to play with their fragile emotions, but also their physical appearance. Kendall and Kylie Jenner further show the suppression of individual freedom and humanity, by the women in Indra changing how they look through technological devices. The city of Indra demands all women receive beauty implantations. It is evident that beauty is critical in Indra once Livia says, Marius is a mere five foot two, a burden for which most Indrithian women would be utterly devastated. Had they not reached five foot eight by the age of thirteen, they would have already partaken of every alteration available. They would have sought out Rejuvenation Island for stretching treatments, subsisted on... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... She has yet to have the sparkle put back in, which is a very painful procedure (Jenner 31). The quotation above, explains how critical beauty enhancements are in the society of Indra. It proves that as the technology in the industry of plastic surgery develops, it becomes more demanding within the city of Indra. Livia is talking about her godmother, Governess. Livia s godmother is consumed with beauty and the way she looks. She constantly revisits rejuvenation island, no one can truly tell who she really is due to all the alterations she has undergone. The passage provided is significant to the novel because it shows that the society is obsessed with all forms of technology that become available in Indra. • 3. Death In A. E. Houseman s To An Athlete Dying Young Death is an unavoidable element of the world in which we live. The rich and the poor, the strong and the weak, the brave and the cowardly all must face the end of existence one day. People in this world often choose to ignore this looming threat and live their lives as if this terminus does not exist. One does not fall into this trend category: A. E. Houseman. As said by one observer There are two themes in Houseman: man s morality...and man s rebellion against his lot. (Conolly 49). Houseman s poem To An Athlete Dying Young is no exception. Here he delves into the dreaded and complex subject of early death(Ruby ed. 228, 230). In the poem To an Athlete Dying Young from A Shropshire Lad by A.E. Housman one can see the choices in his style, which are used to cover both sides of the central theme of death, and the author s use of symbolism as a device. To An Athlete Dying Young has multiple noticeable features in its style. The poem is written in the form of a narrative poem, or lyric ballad, in which a story is told. This form of... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... In this passage Houseman mentions And early though the laurel grows, It withers quicker than the rose (Houseman 32). For this reason the laurel is symbolic of accomplishment, fame, and honor. This symbol ties into another meaning of the poem. As the critic Bruce Meyers explained The difference between the crowning of garlands is the irony at the heart of the poem. The hero s crown... that the town pays the athlete on his victory, withers away like the floral headgear of a young girl. As he concludes, The message is that death is the final victor. (Meyers 236). The laurel is representative of our short lives and they wither quickly like the athlete. With each season the flowers first bloom, then flourish, and finally dry up; life does not remain for long (Ruby ed. 233, 235). Solution Focused Therapy ( Sft ) Clients come for mental health treatment for a variety of different reasons and there are a variety of different approaches that can be used to assist those clients. Solution focused therapy (SFT) is one of those approaches. Examined are the treatment approach of SFT, the theory associated, evidence to support the treatment, the effectiveness with youth and culturally diverse clients, and the limitation of the approach. SFT treatment approach can be used with an individual and or families. The treatment emphasizes the strengths and sources of resiliency that a client or family has to promote positive change (Hook, 2014). The therapy enables the client to focus on solutions from the past that could be helpful in creating new realities (Hook, 2014). One of the inventors of SFT referred to it as a way to carry on a practical conversation with clients (Jong, 2015). The conversation is used to co construct solutions. The clinician asks questions not knowing the response (Jong, 2015). Furthermore, the conversations focus on what the client wants to be different and how to make that occur (Jong, 2015). While using SFT the clinician has several assumptions that guide the sessions. First, a client is competent to co construct goals (Jong, 2015). Second, the client is the expert of their own life (Jong, 2015). Third, the problemand solution do not necessarily have a connection (Jong, 2015). Discourse on Method Essay example Discourse on Method Heuresis (or invention) comprises, as Richard Lanham notes, the first of the five traditional parts of rhetorical theory, concerned with the finding and elaboration of arguments (1991: 91). In Aristotle s Rhetoric the category of heuresis included the kinds of proof available to the rhetorician, lists of valid and invalid topoi, as well as the various commonplaces the rhetorician might touch upon loci or stereotypical themes and observations ( time flies ) appropriate to a given occasion (Lanham 1991: 166 170). Ulmer s book presents itself, in part, as a heuristic device for enabling such new forms of research and text production from the inventio provided by Jacques Derrida. In The Other Heading, reflecting on contemporary Europe, Derrida repeats a fundamental question posed by Paul Valery in 1939 in the wake of fascism: What are you going to do? What are you going to do today? (1992: 18, cited in Ulmer 84). Ulmer sees his work as a response, in 1992, to this call for invention. Ulmer s text also presents itself as providing a method for the contemporary paradigm (12) of poststructuralism comparable to the method Descartes provided for an emergent scientific rationalism. He is quick, however, to qualify this project for any attempt at a postmodernist method is contradictory (an impossible possibility) (25). In one of the most suggestive sections of work, the initial chapter contends that all of the manifestos of the avant garde, belong to the tradition of the discourse on method (8), and provides an analysis of the common elements comprising such discourses. James Sanders, the author of the The Downing Of TWA flight 800, has spent the last 18 years investigating this event, he recently announced that the flight was brought down accidentally by two missiles fired from a Navy Vessel and/or submarine that were in the area to intercept a smaller plane involved in a plot to bring down the commercial flight . A cover up by the FBI and the NTSB (National Transportation Safety Board) was extensive, involving intimidation of witnesses and investigators, tampering with evidence, false testimony before Congress, censoring reports, and numerous violations of protocols. Some of the government s own official investigators said that the explosions occurred outside the airplane. They were permitted to testify with that evidence. A piece of metal from a destroyed or missing plane can tell a big story. Early last year detectives were brought to the attention of a piece of scrap washed up on the Reunion Island in early July. This kind of injection needs to use large number of syringe needles, and according to [62],clients reported that an average of 8.7% of injections employed shared syringe needles. Data from the Coalition for safe Community Needle Disposal showed that in the year of 2011, 13.5 million people in the United States produced 7.8 billion used sharps(needles, syringes, etc.) outside the traditional healthcare, and 1 million to 1.5 million of needles were used for illegal drug injections. Since blood borne infections, like HIV, HBV, and HCV, can be commonly spread by sharing intravenous syringes, huge number of substandard and illegal use of needles compares to share rate of 8.7%, the potential spread of these infections cannot be ignored. Meanwhile, on the other side, the application of micro needle can to large extent avoid this from its source. Micro needles, which are recently developed by the Georgia Institute of Technology and the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention(CDC) [63, 64], are small patches that can be administered by untrained users. The Iranian Hostage Crisis Of Iran In 1979, the United States of America was presented with a situation unlike any before: they received word that their embassy in Tehran, Iran, had been overtaken and all members of the embassy save six were being held hostage by Iranian revolutionaries. The road leading to this climactic period in American and Iranian history led back to almost thirty years of growing anti American resentment. The Shah and the Supreme Ayatollah of Iranwere at odds, creating a power struggle unlike any seen in modern history. In response, the rest of the world started a boycott of Iranian oil, and the British began planning a military operation to wrest control from Mossadegh. They worked with President Dwight Eisenhower and the American CIA to organize a coup of sorts, by funding and inciting pro shah supporters to take to the streets and demand the removal of Mossadegh, who was an erratic and unpredictable ruler. The operation was successful and threw Mossadegh out of power, but not without many unintended consequences (Farber, 56). Within Iran, Islamic fundamentalists following Ayatollah Ruhollah Khomeini were greatly angered by the American influence and disruption, and the seeds of revolution were planted. Fast forward twenty five years, and we arrive at the beginning of the Iranian Revolution. In August of 1978, riots and civil violence were escalating dramatically within Iran, as supporters of the Iranian Shah and the Supreme Ayatollah Ruhollah Khomeini clashed in demonstrations that frequently turned lethal. The problem for American President Jimmy Carter was that both sides represented different evils, as the Shah employed the use of the SAVAK, the Iranian secret police, as well as torture to maintain control; but Khomeini represented a vehement hatred for all Western influence in his country, and his supporters often lit cinemas and other Western symbols on fire (Farber, 92). Meanwhile in southern part of its territory several maritime dispute disputes began to attract China s attention. During early decade of 1990s, China had just ratified United Nations Convention on the Law of the Sea 1982 (UNCLOS 1982) in 1992. Angel Gabriel Looks At Mariana And Not Mary What is more interesting is that Angel Gabriel looks at Mariana and not Mary in the painting which suggests a hope, she wants her love to be consummated, a Gabriel to come to her and inform her but it intensifies the pathos even further. Mary which in Hebrew means uncertainty, as she was uncertain whether she would be able to conceive until Gabriel arrived but Mary (uncertainty) + Ann (graceful) leads us to Mariana who is gracefully expecting even though she is uncertain about her destiny. The heraldry depicts snowdrop which represents consolation, according to floral symbolism. However, it is the flower associated with the ritual of St. Agnes Eve, when adolescent girls hope for visionary glimpses of prospective husbands. These meta representations projects the mental state of the subject sometimes through contrast and ironyas well. We see an altar, a private devotional space so we have a sense of her life being taken up between prayer and meditation which in turn accentuates the theme of longing. The metallic objects add to the visual irony as a church like atmosphere of marriage is being created in Mariana s room which is never possible. Mariana still wears a waistband which can symbolise her hopes of conjugal bliss which is clearly visible against the deep hue of her dress. Another way to interpret the quote from Ms. Miller s book is that obtaining an MBA degree is challenging and requires a different type of perseverance than other master degrees require. • 41. Did The Amount Of Salt Affect The Mass Of Ice Cream Title: Did the amount of salt used in ice cream formation effect the mass of ice cream produced? Purpose To discover whether varied amounts of salt used in ice cream formation effected the mass of the final product. Background InformationIn order for water or milk to freeze, the temperature needs to be at or below 0ВєC. In order to lower the freezing point of solution, different solutes can be added. A solution is created by dissolving a solute into a solvent, such as dissolving sugar (solute) into water (solvent). The process of decreasing a freezing point of a liquid by dissolving a solute into a solution is referred to as freezing point depression. The freezing point is a colligative property, which means that the freezing point depends on the number of solute particles dissolved in a solution. For example, CaCl2, which has three particles, would lower the freezing point of a solution more than NaCl would, which only has two particles (Helmenstine). Freezing point depression is used in the world around us, such as when salt is placed onto roads during winter during which the temperature is around or right below 0ВєC to prevent any precipitation that falls from freezing onto the road. When salt (NaCl) is introduced to ice, hydrogen bonds in the ice require more energy to join together. This energy is found in the form of heat energy, decreasing the temperature of the small amount of melted water surrounding the ice (Litherland) . By placing salt onto roads ... The Goldberg family relocated to Timmins, Ontario during Frank s adolescent years. Unfortunately, during these times, Frank saw how mean kids can be as he was given the nickname Fish . People did not accept his religion, Judaism, and the nickname was supposed to put him down but Frank would later use that as a basis for his some of his creations. During this time, he explored atheism because of these difficulties (Hines, 1986). Finding and Designing Love After Frank s father grew sick, the Goldberg family moved to Los Angeles where some of the family already resided. Ironically, they lived in an apartment that was close to where the Loyola Law School would be built in later years, according to Frank s blueprints. At this time, the family was struggling for money and Frank had to find a job. He worked as a delivery truck man who installed breakfast nooks. It was through this job that Frank would meet Anita Snyder, a woman who he married later in 1952. Two years later, with the permission of his family, Frank decided to change their last name to Gehry. The couple had two daughters and the three followed Gehry to an army base in Georgia (Hines, 1986) and then to Paris (Hines, 1986; Templer, 1999). Eventually, got divorced in 1966.
