2. Definition
 Skin stem cells are multipotent adult stem
cells present in the adult skin, which can self-
renew and differentiate into
different cell lineages of the skin.
 Skin stem cells are active during skin renewal,
which occurs throughout life, and in skin repair
after injury.

3.  Skin is the largest organ of the human body.
 Skin has a surface area of 1.6m2 and comprises 16% of the
total body weight.
 Skin is integument that protect internal organs (Temperature,
UV, moisture, dust and air pollution etc.)
 Human skin divided into 3 layers
 Epidermis
 Dermis
 Subcutaneous tissues &
Affiliated organs inculde hair, sebaceous glands, sweat glands,
capillary etc.
