SIMULATION In Textile Products
WHAT IS SIMULATION?
 The imitation of the operation of a real-world
process or system over time…
 Most widely used tool (along LP) for decision making
 Usually on a computer with appropriate software
 An analysis (descriptive) tool – can answer what if
questions
 A synthesis (prescriptive) tool – if complemented by
other tools
 Applied to complex systems that are impossible to
solve mathematically
 This course focuses on one form of simulation
modelling – discrete-event simulation modelling.
What is Simulation
A Simulation of a system is the
operation of a model, which is a
representation of that system.
The model is amenable to manipulation
which would be impossible, too
expensive, or too impractical to
perform on the system which it
portrays.
The operation of the model can be
studied, and , from this, properties
concerning the behavior of the actual
system can be inferred
SYSTEM
 A set of interacting components or entities
operating together to achieve a common
goal or objective.
 Examples:
 A manufacturing system with its machine
centers, inventories, conveyor belts, production
schedule, items produced.
 A telecommunication system with its messages,
communication network servers.
 A theme park with rides, workers, …
REAL WORLD SYSTEMS OF INTEREST ARE HIGHLY COMPLEX!!!
ADVANTAGES OF SIMULATION
• When mathematical analysis methods are not
available, simulation may be the only investigation
tool
• When mathematical analysis methods are available,
but are so complex that simulation may provide a
simpler solution
• Allows comparisons of alternative designs or
alternative operating policies
• Allows time compression or expansion
Designing
 Marvelous Designer Workflow
to get the idea how clothing look like when creating
clothes in Marvelous Designer, the more
accurate to real world patterns and designs you
achieve, more successful your modeling will be.
Therefore I did quite a bit of research on game called
battle field 4, Iraq military uniform and how
each piece of clothing is constructed.
A Virtual Garment Design and
Simulation System
 Garment design consists of defining the cloth model and
the garment construction process, in turn of the
construction of garment patterns and the definition of
the seaming
points between each panel.
To simulate the garment, the system must be
integrated
numerically. The positions of the particles making up
the
cloth are calculated over time considering the forces
acting
on the cloth.

Yarn-Level Simulation of Woven
Cloth
 The large-scale mechanical behavior of woven cloth is
determined by the mechanical properties of the yarns,
the weave pattern, and frictional contact between yarns.
 Using standard simulation methods for elastic rod
models and yarn-yarn contact handling, the simulation
of woven garments at realistic yarn densities is deemed
intractable. This paper introduces an efficient solution
for simulating
woven cloth at the yarn level.
 Woven cloth is formed by interlacing yarns,
typically two sets of orthogonal yarns called warp
and weft. Interlaced yarns undergo friction forces
at yarn-yarn contacts, and this friction holds
together the woven fabric.
 Large-scale mechanics of woven cloth are dictated
by the fine-scale
behavior of yarns, their mechanical properties,
arrangement, and
contact interactions.
Simulation in Knitting

Sewing with the Garment
Design System
sewing Simulation with Try
On
 The process chain for virtual try-
on and final visualization consists
of several steps. First, the
automatic prepositioning,
providing a good initial
simulation state for the cloth-
patterns with according seam
information. Second, the
physical
simulation calculating the drape
of the garment, where measured
material data are integrated.
 there is the sewing information
that describes how the cloth
patterns must be sewn together.
Of course this information is also
required, if we want to dress a
virtual human with virtual
garments. In a virtual try-on
context, one approach is to build
the virtual cloth patterns
with the geometry information
from the CAD systems, to sew
them together virtually with the
appropriate sewing information
and to simulate
the real try-on process
Working with 3Ds Max.
 To Create a good quality scene or image
using 3Ds max there’s some requirement
that must exist in the scene in order to
produce a good product.
 The object.
 Materials.
 Lights.
 Cameras.
 Animations.
Objects.
 The objects that can be represented in the
scene can be predefined primitives and models
or user designed models.
Home Designing with
NedGraphics
 One of the biggest markets in the world
is the one of home textiles. Textiles are
used in many different areas of your
daily life. Towels, curtains, furnishing
fabrics and even the fabric covering the
seats of your car, are designed and
produced with the help of NedGraphics
software. Nedgraphics is more
knowledgeable than any other supplier
and offers it’s customers the best
solutions for success.

Simulation tools use in Textile product

  • 2. WHAT IS SIMULATION?  The imitation of the operation of a real-world process or system over time…  Most widely used tool (along LP) for decision making  Usually on a computer with appropriate software  An analysis (descriptive) tool – can answer what if questions  A synthesis (prescriptive) tool – if complemented by other tools  Applied to complex systems that are impossible to solve mathematically  This course focuses on one form of simulation modelling – discrete-event simulation modelling.
  • 3. What is Simulation A Simulation of a system is the operation of a model, which is a representation of that system. The model is amenable to manipulation which would be impossible, too expensive, or too impractical to perform on the system which it portrays. The operation of the model can be studied, and , from this, properties concerning the behavior of the actual system can be inferred
  • 4. SYSTEM  A set of interacting components or entities operating together to achieve a common goal or objective.  Examples:  A manufacturing system with its machine centers, inventories, conveyor belts, production schedule, items produced.  A telecommunication system with its messages, communication network servers.  A theme park with rides, workers, … REAL WORLD SYSTEMS OF INTEREST ARE HIGHLY COMPLEX!!!
  • 5. ADVANTAGES OF SIMULATION • When mathematical analysis methods are not available, simulation may be the only investigation tool • When mathematical analysis methods are available, but are so complex that simulation may provide a simpler solution • Allows comparisons of alternative designs or alternative operating policies • Allows time compression or expansion
  • 6. Designing  Marvelous Designer Workflow to get the idea how clothing look like when creating clothes in Marvelous Designer, the more accurate to real world patterns and designs you achieve, more successful your modeling will be. Therefore I did quite a bit of research on game called battle field 4, Iraq military uniform and how each piece of clothing is constructed.

  • 10. A Virtual Garment Design and Simulation System  Garment design consists of defining the cloth model and the garment construction process, in turn of the construction of garment patterns and the definition of the seaming points between each panel. To simulate the garment, the system must be integrated numerically. The positions of the particles making up the cloth are calculated over time considering the forces acting on the cloth.

  • 19. Yarn-Level Simulation of Woven Cloth  The large-scale mechanical behavior of woven cloth is determined by the mechanical properties of the yarns, the weave pattern, and frictional contact between yarns.  Using standard simulation methods for elastic rod models and yarn-yarn contact handling, the simulation of woven garments at realistic yarn densities is deemed intractable. This paper introduces an efficient solution for simulating woven cloth at the yarn level.
  • 20.  Woven cloth is formed by interlacing yarns, typically two sets of orthogonal yarns called warp and weft. Interlaced yarns undergo friction forces at yarn-yarn contacts, and this friction holds together the woven fabric.  Large-scale mechanics of woven cloth are dictated by the fine-scale behavior of yarns, their mechanical properties, arrangement, and contact interactions.

  • 26. Sewing with the Garment Design System
  • 27. sewing Simulation with Try On  The process chain for virtual try- on and final visualization consists of several steps. First, the automatic prepositioning, providing a good initial simulation state for the cloth- patterns with according seam information. Second, the physical simulation calculating the drape of the garment, where measured material data are integrated.
  • 28.  there is the sewing information that describes how the cloth patterns must be sewn together. Of course this information is also required, if we want to dress a virtual human with virtual garments. In a virtual try-on context, one approach is to build the virtual cloth patterns with the geometry information from the CAD systems, to sew them together virtually with the appropriate sewing information and to simulate the real try-on process

  • 31. Working with 3Ds Max.  To Create a good quality scene or image using 3Ds max there’s some requirement that must exist in the scene in order to produce a good product.  The object.  Materials.  Lights.  Cameras.  Animations.
  • 32. Objects.  The objects that can be represented in the scene can be predefined primitives and models or user designed models.
