Summary Of The Poem Leis Spears
Now that the holidays are approaching, a certain long lived adage makes its yearly debut: the feeling
of giving is better than the feeling of receiving. Of course, it is generally said in the context of gift
exchange. However, who is to say it cannot be a life lesson? Far too often, people are so very involved
in themselves that they lose sight of what truly matters, such as family or even community. They
believe their own problems to be far too great to waste time on helping others, which is exactly the
common schema Edgar Lee Masters refuted in his poem Lois Spears as a part of his collection of
poems, Spoon River Anthology. Lois Spears is a woman who, despite having to live without sight, is
incredibly happy with how she lived her life. She dedicated herself to serving others and joyfully did
so; her story did not convey an ounce of spite or bitterness. Masters ultimately wrote the poem Lois
Spears in order to display how looking away from one s own hindrances or troubles and dedicating
oneself to improving the lives of others can bring true happiness. Right at from the start, Masters
begins Lois story with an epitaph like statement regarding who she is in relation to others: ...
[d]aughter of Willard Fluke, / [w]ife of Cyrus Spears, / [m]other of Myrtle and Virgil Spears... Rather
than beginning to describe herself, Masters purposefully has Lois speak about others before herself in
order to show how Lois puts the needs of others before her own. She

The At The Seton Hall Community
This project was chosen simply because the members of our group saw a need that we
thought most students would also see as useful to the Seton Hall community. All 5 members of
our group are commuter students who wish their was a better commuter lounge that was truly
targeted to fulfill the needs of all commuter students and give us a reason to stay on campus after
our classes ended or in between classes during each school day. We originally discussed a variety of
ways that would benefit commuter students. Some of these ideas included, better commuter cafe, more
commuter based events held in one specific room, and a commuter printing area that is just for
commuter students to print. These ideas were generated by all team ... Show more content on

V. Implementation Plan
In order to upgrade the commuter lounge at Seton Hall, it is important to develop an implementation
plan. Having an implementation plan will help us better understand the steps we have to take in order
to get the ball rolling. The implementation plan will also help us keep track of where our progress is
and what steps we have completed. The implementation plan we created will have four different
components: how we will go about implementing our idea, the steps we need to follow to implement
our idea, who would need to be involved, and the communication of our plan to others.
The way we will go about implementing our idea is rather simple. In order to upgrade the commuter
lounge, it is important to gather information about the needs of the commuter student community here
at Seton Hall. Conducting a school wide survey of all the commuter students with questions that will
target what these students look for in a university being, what the university is lacking, what they
would like to see be improved at Seton Hall, among other various questions will give us an idea of
what to include in the new commuter lounge. This survey will help us establish if there is a need for
an upgraded commuter lounge, as we believe there definitely is. Once the need is figured out, we

The Life of David Brainerd
David Brainerd was born in on April 20, 1718 to Hezekiah Brainerd, Esq, and Dorothy Hobart. He had
four brothers and four sisters. Most of his brothers ended up in the ministry, although those that did
not were respectable upright people. David s father died when he was nine and his mother died five
years later when David was fourteen, so at a very young David was fatherless and motherless.1 David
was always a type of person inclined to be melancholy. He was always a religious person. He made
sure that he did everything right, because he was afraid of death. He performed all the duties of
religion without a true conversion.2 Then, in 1738, David went to live with a man named Rev. Mr.
Fiske. It was here that David kept a regular ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
He would continually say in his diary that he felt the Lord. Then the next day he said that he did not
feel the presence of the Lord. Overall he would say that he longed to grow closer and closer to the
Lord. By November of 1742, Brainerd had become commissioned to be a missionary to the Indians.11
During that time of being a missionary, David, who had an estate left to him by his father, sold his
estate and used that money to fund a young man s college bill. That young man continued to have his
school bill paid for until his benefactor died. He was able to go through college until his junior year of
college.12 Soon David was told by his missionary directors that they would like him to go the the
Indians that lived near the Delaware and Susquehanna Rivers. On December 15, 1742 he said good
bye to his friends lest they never meet on this earth again, which was a possibility due to the danger
and weather of where he was going. On February 2, 1743, David Brainerd preached his farewell
sermon in the home of an elderly man, who had not been able to get out his house for some time, then
David parted with his friends to go be a missionary to Indians.13 Before David actually headed to his
Indians, David talked about his spiritual life in his diary. He talked about enjoying spiritual peace and
comfort, and sorrow of sin. He also was in agony over sin. Then on April 1, he arrived at his Indians,

Essay About Tulane University
The essential question is Why are you interested in attending Tulane University? , but in all honesty it
should be Why not Tulane? . No I have never had the chance to visit Louisiana, none the less Tulane,
but I have always yearned to visit the unique state. What better way to explore the state than by
attending a college located there? Like the state where Tulane University is located, it seems to be a
very diverse yet fun place to live out my college life. My interest in the college range from the
academic reputation of the school, the location and social environment, and the overall attractiveness
of the college. A couple months back I met with a Tulane Admissions representative who first sparked
my interest in the college. She opened my eyes, and made me ponder the reality that I could actually
see myself as part of the school. Compared to the other schools that were also being represented
(NYU, University of Miami, Georgia Tech, and the George Washington University), Tulane grab my
interests the most. Before attending the information session about the colleges, I can honestly say I
had never heard of Tulane. However, the representative did such an amazing job informing us about

results from both surveys mainly put me in the category being able to help people and or help
rehabilitate them. Most of my basic skills are around a level 4 which shows that I´m relatively well
balanced.I believe these do accurately show my skills and proper career choices. My top two career
clusters were health science and education and training.I do agree with the fact that I would do well in
health science as it is one of my major goals to get some sort of doctorate degree. However I don´t
very much agree with the education and training cluster.I don´t do well with education to others. It´s
just not something I excel in.But I would like to have a career in medicine.According to the basic

Canada s Healthcare System Of Canada Essay
Canada s Healthcare Several countries are unique in their own individual ways. One reason that makes
Canada so unique is their healthcare system. Many have no knowledge of how the healthcare system
works, especially in the United States. Each state has its own healthcare system and works by their
own rules and laws. One thing which separates Canada with these other states is the cost, the structure
and the ratios they have. When people think about healthcare, you get a little bit of both sides. You get
the group of people who cannot afford healthcare, and the other group who not only have the income
to pay for their healthcare but those who have their private doctors. Many people do not see this as an
issue, however they do not even care at the fact that they do not even have any type of healthcare.
From generation to generation, there have been several changes in the health industry. This industry is
a trillion dollar a year industry which still needs more work. In my report I will explain and educate as
to why I believe Canada s healthcare system is not only such a great organized system but also how
they manage to keep their infant mortality rate so low as well as the average life expectancy increase. I
will also discuss how the population and health status have an impact in Canada. Following these
topics I will discuss, the laws and regulations which Canada has to enforce these types of services as
well as private and public health insurances that Canada

Terrorism And The World s Leading Issues
Terrorism is an unofficial and unauthorized use of extreme violence, force and intimidation in the
pursuit of political and religious gain. Throughout the 20th century, terrorism is among the world s
leading issues. The reason for its existence can be found from the roots of imperialism and its
injustice. Today its momentum and actions have many violent, devastating and deadly effects
throughout the world. The terrorists that drive this fear are perverse Islamic fundamentalists. Muslim
fundamentalists believe that the Qur an should be interpreted literally and context, namely the time
period and the social climate, cannot determine the texts interpretation and application. Extremists in
this group advocate extreme violence in order to fulfil certain elements of the Qur an. These extremist
groups are numerous, however some are more notable than others. Al Qaeda, the terrorist group that
had its formation in Sudan, before relocating to Afghanistan used the Qur an to justify the 9/11 attack
on the Twin Towers. Similarly, the Taliban, the terrorist group who have control over Afghanistan
have imposed harsh and crude versions of Sharia Law and twisted the Qur an to suit their endeavours.
Furthermore Isis, a Sunni group that aims to create an Islamic state in Iraq and Syria, have also
extracted Quranic verses to suit their ideals and justify their premature taking of life. Overall, the
misinterpretation of the Qur an and the Hadith has led to the justification of terrorism,

History Still Matters Summary
The article History Still Matters by Bill Moyers expresses some important concerns in our societies
over the loss of interest in history. Throughout the article Moyers explains the loss of interest but also
shows the reader the subject is crucial for societies to progress. He uses deeper meanings to further
understand the importance of history as well as expressing the reasons he thinks cultures have lost
interest past events. The author also mentions that although people find no relations to history in today

Whiting was questioned about the disappearance of Payne, which had taken place about 8 km (5
miles) from Whiting s place of residence. Whiting was routinely questioned as he had been placed on
the Sex Offenders Register. The officers left Whiting, but were suspicious of his lack of concern for
Payne, something that some of the worst offenders had shown when questioned in connection with
Payne s disappearance.[citation needed] When Whiting re appeared soon after he attempted to drive
away in his van, he was stopped by the police and arrested.[citation needed] Whiting spent two days in
custody, but a lack of police evidence led to Whiting s release on bail. Although police had found a

This included fibres from items in Whiting s van, in Sarah s hair at the grave site and DNA tests
proving that a hair found on the red sweatshirt was Sarah s.
A total of more than 500 items were submitted for forensic analysis. Over 20 forensic experts were
employed during the inquiry in the fields of entomology, pathology, geology, archaeology,
environmental profiling and oil/lubricant analysis. The whole investigation involved a thousand
personnel and cost more than £2 million.
The forensic evidence in Operation Maple rested on a combination of DNA and fibres work. When
Sarah s body was found 17 days after she disappeared, she had no wounds from an assault and her
body was badly decomposed making identification difficult. A full DNA profile was obtained from
muscle and matched to a full profile obtained from a milk tooth saved by Sarah s mother.

Shortly after Sarah had disappeared, her brother Lee noticed a white transit type van passing along the
lane. Roy Whiting bought a white Fiat Ducato van a week before Sarah disappeared. When police
seized it they removed all the contents which included a red sweatshirt, a pair of socks, a checked
shirt, a clown patterned curtain and a petrol receipt showing that Whiting had been only a few miles
from where Sarah s body was found.
They also found that plywood panelling installed by the previous owner in the back had been removed

Analysis Of Polycystic Ovary Syndrome ( Pcos )
About 5 10% of the female population is affected by Polycystic Ovary Syndrome (PCOS). The cause
is unknown, but it is considered to be the most common endocrine disorder in women. Genetics and
insulin resistance are believed to play a significant role. One of the first symptoms is an irregular
period. Others include an imbalance in the female sex hormones, weight gain, and male patterned hair
growth and balding. Aside from hormonal treatments, there are some natural ways to treat PCOS and
eliminate many of the symptoms. A proper diet and weight loss routine is essential. After my own
horrific experience with PCOS, I decided to take my health into my own hands. At the beginning of
the month, I weighed 320 lbs. My goal is to get down to 180 lbs. by April 13th, 2014. Today is Day 13

The Satellite Television Provider, Directv
In the world today, commercials are one of the basic essentials for a product s success. The satellite
television provider, DirecTV uses commercials as means to succeed. DirecTV commercials are known
to target a male audience. In this particular commercial they specifically targets manly men. The
commercial starts off introducing Peyton Manning and Really High Voice Manning. Peyton Manning
owns DirecTV, has a deep voice, and wears a dark sharp suit. Whereas Really High Voice Manning
does not own DirecTV, has a high voice, and wears wrinkled khakis with a white and yellow striped
polo. The commercial further shows each of their lifestyles with and without DirecTV. Peyton
Manning is seen watching the football games through his mobile phone. He watches in a locker room
before a game and on his team bus. On the contrary Really High Voice Manning is part of a singing
barbershop quartet and watches the football games from the gym locker. The commercial ends with
Peyton Manning saying not to be like Really High Voice Manning and to get DirecTV. Overall,
DirecTV approaches an appeal to ethos by using Peyton Manning s sense of credibility, manliness,

Change Progress and Prosperity
Change Progress and Prosperity The Harvest took place in a small, secluded, and self reliant
agricultural community in England, before the industrial revolution. The novel was based on change,
growth, progress and prosperity. The village, as the narrator Walter Thirsk stated was, far from
everywhere (Crace, 3) and isolated from the world. The village was also fragmented and missing any
development of identity. The commons were the people living in the unnamed village. The commons
way of life changed from harvesting and plowing to extracting wool for clothing. Jim Crace examined
the themes of change and fragmentation by the loss of identity and way of life through the use of
symbols, characters, and imagery. In the Harvest, symbolism was evident throughout the novel.
Symbols are commonly used to add richness and depth to the story. The author used symbols to
develop the main themes of change and fragmentation. During the course of the novel, the most
significant symbols included: fire, crops, ghost, unfinished cross, quills, sheep, wool, and the rock. In
the novel, fire was the most impactful symbol. The novel started with two fires and ended in one.
What starts with fire will end with fire (Crace, 198). The element of fire represents a variety of
meanings such as: passion, hope, anger, devastation, and betrayal. In the beginning of the film, fire
represented betrayal and devastation. Two twists of smoke at a time of year too warm for cottage fires

Modern And Capable Armed Forces
Maintaining modern and capable armed forces is not an easy task. One of the most important tasks for
a country, state and society is to defend itself against attackers and other threats. Military force, as
Clausewitz made explicit, is not an end in itself and it only has meaning in relation to the future
desired political landscape. When internal political institutions function normally, the wielders of
sovereign power are the natural arbiters of last resort among competing interests and values in the
policy, including the subordination of the military to the highest political authorities.
Armed Forces of a country should be designed to fulfil all tasks given to them from political
authorities. Each country develops its armed forces based on specific conditions and requirements
drawn from national security policy and as stated in national security and national defense strategies.
National security strategy is aimed to enhance the safety of the nation s economic, social and political
institutions against different threats. Strategies also deal with complex and diverse security challenges,
like proliferation of weapons of mass destruction, climate change and migrations. To accomplish and
safeguard their own security, states are trying to depend on national resources and also through the
various international organizations and alliances.
Defense policy covers the military domain and involves quantitative issues of the size, recruitment and
supply of the military forces,

An 11th Century Masterpiece Of The Middle Ages
An 11Th Century Masterpiece
What defines a masterpiece? A masterpiece can be defined as an enduring piece of work that has been
widely accepted, as both exceptional and groundbreaking, in a way that greatly influences society.
Masterpieces come in many varieties and forms such as art pieces, music, and architecture. One of the
greatest masterpieces of the Middle Ages, and one that is still standing today, is the Ely Cathedral. Ely
Cathedral s construction began in 1082 and took about three hundred years to be completed (Clark,
William W.). During this time, cathedrals arose out of towns and cities, which were the natural centers
of Christianity. The Middle Ages was a period of great volatility: a time of invasions, conquering of
lands, battles ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The ruling class of the day, consisting of kings, queens and their courts, was deeply intertwined with
the Catholic Church. Etheldreda, queen of East Angles who later became a nun, founded a monastery
in 673 on the grounds that would later become Ely Cathedral. Upon her death and elevation to
sainthood she was enshrined where Ely Cathedral would later rise from the place of the former
monastery at the decree of the Bishop of Bangor. The bishops of the Middle Ages held high social
status and had great influence because of the high roles they held in the state. They were thus able to
spend much of the church s wealth in and around the region of Ely on the creation and construction of
Ely Cathedral (Burton, Edwin). This spending greatly led to the birth of Ely Cathedral as a social
priority. This priority took the form of a broadening of the social structure that included new trades
such as stone cutting, masonry and other forms of skilled labor that led to artistic endeavors such as
sculpting and painting all directly impacted by cathedral building ( Cathedral Building in the Middle
Ages ). Held in very high spiritual and social regard, the cathedrals throughout Europe, including Ely,
commanded a kind of reverence that lasted for hundreds of years much as the Catholic Church had
before the church gradually began to lose hold of its dominance as the Renaissance began to flourish.
Once the Renaissance took hold many cathedrals, including Ely, were diminished in influence and
even damaged or destroyed. Ely, however, withstood time ( The Cathedrals of

underestimation of the old by the young. The narrator, Aspern s publisher, sets himself to the task of
retrieving several mysterious papers from a former lover of his idol, and goes in with the easy
confidence of a young man who never dreams that anyone, much less an elderly lady, could be not
one, but in fact several, steps ahead of him at all times in his hunt for literary gold. The relationship
between Miss Bordereau and the narrator is that of the cat and the mouse, with the narrator believing
he is the cat, and Miss Bordereau knowing that she has the upper hand by the simple fact of
possession. The narrator ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
I think that if Miss Bordereau had thought it would get rid of him, she would have told him directly
that, yes, she had the papers, and no, she had no intention of giving them up. However, because their
relationship actually began with Miss Tina s terse reply to the narrator s associate, telling him that
under no circumstances were the two Bordereau s interested in any nonsense as frivolous as a dead
author s romantic entanglements. This response comes back to haunt the narrator as he buries himself
deeper and deeper in intrigue to keep his true identity a secret from Miss Bordereau. When they
converse, the narrator is on his toes and very aware of the effect of every word, while Miss Bordereau
throws out tidbits to entice him into an indiscreet comment or demand for the papers. For example,
she deliberately declines to give him a receipt for his rent payment, prompting the narrator to conclude
She had given me a part of her house, but she wouldn t add to that so much as a morsel of paper with
her name on it (James, 27). While she is ostensibly neglecting only a nicety of business, in truth it
seems she is teasing him, saying that if she will not even give him her signature on a receipt, there is
nothing on earth that might compel her to part with the Aspern papers.
Perhaps the most interesting aspect of the competitive relationship between Aspern s publisher and
Miss Bordereau is the inclusion of a

What Are The Advantages And Disadvantages Of Driverless Cars
1. Consumer Behavior Models
Consumer behavior eventually leads to the decision or choice between alternatives. In most cases it is
a decision whether to purchase, consume or use a service. The process of this decision making is
rather complex and it is influenced by, other than the price factor, the psychology of the consumers,
their socio cultural environment the past experiences. The consumer decision making can be modelled
as a system operating with an Input or stimuli, the actual decision making Process which then results
in a reaction or Output (Schiffman. L.G, Kanuk. L)
Inputs
Typical external influences for instance, marketing attempts, price or socio cultural factors like family,
social class, culture etc., form the inputs to the decision making process. ... Show more content on

Several manufactures like Tesla, Mercedes etc., have already demonstrated their autonomous driving
technology and many other companies aim to roll out vehicles with driverless capabilities by 2020.
While it s still pretty early to forecast how autonomous vehicles will impact the lives of humans, there
are some clear advantages and disadvantages of driver less cars.
According to the NHTSA (2013), driverless cars are defined as:
Those in which operation of the vehicle occurs without direct driver input to control the steering,
acceleration, and braking and are designed so that the driver is not expected to constantly monitor the
roadway while operating in self driving mode .
One direct inference from the definition is a significant freeing of time and efforts for the driver which
could be potentially used for other value added activities. Indirect inference would be also a better
utilization of the civil infrastructure as a result of the advanced technology. While an obvious
disadvantage would be the cost of ownership, legal issues insurance in case of accidents. 6.1 Potential

What Was The Difference Between The Industrial Revolution...
Industrial revolution is a better and innovative method or process of producing industrial and
manufacturing goods in the period between 1770 and 1840. It is an incredible period of transition and
transformation that bring about abundant in production of goods in both industrial and manufacturing
sector of the economy. It is the new age of machines and chemicals that help to transform the way
goods are produce, thereby increasing productivity and production line. It is a period of increasing
efficiency in the way machines are use to produce goods and more importantly increase in the volume
of goods being produce in the production line. It is a period of increasing use of steam power and
machinery tools which makes it easy and efficient to produce goods at such a staggering rate in those
days. For example the textile industries are able to change the mode of production and volume of
production through the introduction of the cotton gin. According to historians, the introduction of the

The Continuing Immigration Debate Summary
Mark Rosenblum, US IMMIGRATION POLICY SINCE 9/11 Mark Rosenblum s U.S Immigration
Policy Since 9/11 does not provide an argument but rather he describes challenges, and identifies
questions central to the future of the U.S immigration debate. Overall, it seems that prior to 9/11 it
seemed migration negotiations were stalled every time. Whether this was done purposely or is merely
a coincidence is my concern.
Rosenblum states that migration negotiations going well until 2001, post 9/11 period, when migration

refreshing to hear that immigrants do not let policy influence their destination of settlement. I would

surprising that economic and social factors more prominently shape immigrants settlements and

Comparison Between United States Government And Switzerland
Comparison Between United States Government Switzerland
Research Question: Is Switzerland s direct democratic government more efficient than the united
states representative government?
A government is a specialized activity of individuals and institutions that make and enforce the public
decision that then becomes binding. The United States government governs themselves in a significant
way that is different in comparison to the Swiss government. In the United States, our government can
be described as a Representative, Federal Republic, and a Constitutional government. These types of
governments mean that the people elect office members, the government is operated through a
document that creates a government with limited powers, and the federal government s powers are
separated between the states powers. The Swiss government is also described as a Federal Republic
but as a direct democracy as well. A direct democracy is a form of government where the people
decide on the countries issues. Switzerland s direct democracy and federal republic government is
more efficient than the United States federal republic, constitutional, and representative government
because of the way it handles presidents, branches of government and the economy.

republic state who is responsible for leading the country. In the United States, a president is elected

Case Study Of CITES
CITES (Convention on International Trade in Endangered Species) is an international environmental
agreements or treaty between 171 nations in 1975 that is aimed at ensuring that global wildlife trade is
managed responsibly and sustainably. This was done because trade in wildlife was estimated to be
worth billions of dollars every year. The purpose of CITES was also to ensure that international trade
does not threaten the survival of different species. This convention establishes international
cooperation of certain species from over exploitation through international trade, this is to say the
main concern of CITES is conservation of species (Fiadjoe, Y. 2014).

Over the summer, I was able to observe an ELL students through the children s Sunday school at my

Three Major Classes of Fingerprints Essay
The three basic pattern classifications of fingerprints established by Sir Edward Richard Henry in
1896 are the arch, the loop, and the whorl. In an arch pattern, ridges flow from one side of the finger
directly to the opposite side without any deltas. This type of print accounts for about 5% of all
fingerprints. There are two types of arch patterns, the plain arch and tented arch. In a loop pattern, the
ridges flow from one side of the finger, than they curve, than pass an imaginary line drawn from the
delta to the core, and flow out the same side of the finger. They contain one delta on the opposite side
of the opening. This type of print accounts for about 70% of all fingerprints. There are two types of
loops. The two types are ulnar ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
A double loop whorl is the type of pattern that consists of two separate sets of loop formations,
shoulders, and deltas. An accidental whorl is the type of pattern that is composed of two types of
patterns with two or more deltas. A central pocket loop is the type of pattern that consists of one or
more recurving ridges or an obstacle at a right angle to the line of flow with two deltas. Also, when an
imaginary line is drawn, no recurving ridge near the inner pattern area is cut or touched. Sub classes
are important because they help distinguish specific prints from others quickly, therefore illuminating
some possible suspects right away.
There are three types of fingerprints that could be left at a crime scene. The three types are latent,
patent, and plastic. Latent fingerprints are made from the oil and sweat on the surface of a person s
skin. This type of print is invisible by the naked eye and requires processing for visibility purposes.
The process can be done using chemicals or powder. Patent fingerprints are made from blood, ink,
dirt, or grease and they are visible by the naked eye. Plastic fingerprints are made when a person
presses on wax, paint, or soap and they are visible by the naked eye. The three types of fingerprints
help investigators discover who was at the crime scene which can possibly lead to the arrest of
suspects.
When collecting inked prints, there is a certain process that needs to be followed. First, a person s

In order to compare the different aggregate plans, there should be some performance measures in

The first tool to compensate demand fluctuation is building inventory as given in the case text.
Quantitative trade off of this tool is basically the opportunity cost of holding inventory which is given
as $8 per unit per month. In addition, keeping products for long time intervals in inventory could lead
them to hold outdated products which can be though both quantitative and qualitative trade off.
Considering that these aspects should have been included in the inventory holding cost; no additional
modification related to these trade offs are considered.

A Short History of the Jews
Jews from Eastern Europe immigrated to the USA almost after the founding of the Nation, but they
arrived in droves only between the period of the two World wars when czarist persecution became
overwhelming and Jews sought the land paved with gold (and they really believed it to be such calling
America the Goldeneh medinah (Golden Nation) ) with a fervor and frenzy. This number increased
after world war II and today many of the Jews who live in America originate from Eastern Europe.
Most fascinatingly they clashed with their western counterparts who had lived in America long before
them, saw themselves as more suited to the American civilized way of life and derided the Eastern
European Jews as being both greenhorns and primitive. The early Jews who first came to America
were largely British. These were succeeded by German Jews. It was German Jews who produced the
large corporations such as Macy s,and German Jews who became th diplomats, politicians,a nd
financiers. They had the American manners and sought to become more American than the
Americanized. The movies the Jazz Singer s son epitomizes one of these kinds of Jews as does

Don t Ban Photos Of Skinny Models
In the article Don t Ban Photos of Skinny Models , by Vanessa Friedman; who is the chief fashion
critic for the New York Times. In Friedman s article she is talking about how she doesn t want to ban
certain photos or ads of skinny models because she thinks it is wrong to say or think a skinny or thin
women s body is unhealthy by upright looking at her appearance. The purpose is that how she doesn t
want to ban certain photos or ads of skinny models because she thinks it s unnecessary to just create a
nonsense situation and also because people are just judging a skinny or slim body that may be healthy
or unhealthy. In this case the audience, most likely women disagree with Friedman because they think
they should ban photos or ads because they are unrealistic to them. Since the intended audience is
mainly women or teenagers, they have much more knowledge about why they should ban certain
photos and ads. For example, in the article where it said And then there s the 2016 Pirelli calender,
photography by Annie Leibovitz, which broke with tradition by showcasing a dozen women of
different ages and body types, most of them clothed (Friedman). That emphasized that women should
be more comfortable with themselves because everyone is beautiful in any body type, also you can
already know that Annie disagrees with Friedman because she did a showcase. The context of this
article shows how a lot of women disagree with Friedman s statement about not banning ads of skinny

Essay on The Situational Leadership Model
The Situational Leadership Model
Situational leadership is interplay between the amounts of direction that a leader allows in: 1) the
amount of directive (task) behavior and 2) the amount of relationship behavior (supportive behavior).
What this means is that when an individual first begins a new task they require a lot of direction and
managerial guidance. As they learn more about the task, the amount of direction decreases until they
can make many of the decisions with the manager providing little input. The situational leadership
model developed and refined by Paul Hersey and Ken Blanchard divides the model into four ... Show

THE FOUR LEADERSHIP STYLES
[IMAGE]
We begin in the lower right quadrant, S1 directing leadership style. This phase is where the new
employee or older employee learning a new task begins. The directing will require that the leader
define the roles of the follower. The leader initiates problem solving and decision making and directs
communication towards the follower. The leader will tell the follower what to do, how to do it, where
to do it, and when to do it. Close supervision is also involved at this point. The X axis beginning point
is to the extreme right (high directive) indicating that leader will be providing directions. The
rectangular object showing development levels is also to the extreme right but here it signifies that the
amount of learned knowledge (amount of development to perform task) is low. The beginner may
become enthusiastic about wanting to learn. They will probably be highly committed but competence
will be low. The Y axis is on the bottom end showing us that supportive behavior is at a low point.
The second quadrant is located in the upper right, S2 coaching leadership style. This phase is where
the leader listens to the follower, provides support and encourages the follower s efforts, and facilitates
involvement with problem solving and decision making. Communication flows between leader and
follower. The X axis beginning point is to the

There Are Many Types Of Ways Teachers Can Assess Students
There are many types of ways teachers can assess students knowledge. A formative assessment is one
of these types. A formative assessment takes place either during the lesson or before, as a pretest.
Formative assessments are used to see where students learning is at along the way. A benefit of
formative testing is that teachers can see what they should improve on in their lessons to help students
learn the content. A drawback is that formative assessments could be seen as busy work if they are not
created with students learning in mind. Another type of assessment is a summative assessment. These
assessments take place at the end of a lesson and cover a range of standards learned throughout a unit.

The students are then given a score. Sometimes, it is difficult to understand the score without a
knowledge of the vocabulary that comes with standardized testing. Important topics to understand
with standardized testing include, normal distribution, percentile rank, and grade equivalent scores. A
normal distribution is a bell curve. This is where many scores fall in the middle and fewer fall towards
the tails. Percentile rank is a score showing how well you did compared to others. For example, if you
are in the 80th percentile, this means that 80% of people s scores were equal to or below yours. The
last concept mentioned is grade equivalent scores. These scores show the average of how people of a
certain test scored. It then takes your score and compares it to that average. If you scored above the
average, your grade level score will be higher than the grade level you are in. This is a topic to be
careful with. Just because your score is higher than grade level does not mean that you should be
taking that grade level s curriculum. This is because Different forms of test are used for different grade

Paradise Lost And Antigone Comparison
To educate a man in mind and not in morals is to educate a menace to society. (Roosevelt). Since the
beginning of time societies have existed, thriving among mankind. Societies dictate norms and
regulations for the people living within them by establishing a status quo. Since the status quo exists, a
large majority of people alter their actions and words they do and say to fit the societal norm, the
status quo in order to seem normal . As common as a status quo is to societies, so is the reality of a
rebel: someone who goes against the status quo, such as Antigone. Societies also have people who
overly conform, in turn suffering negative consequences, such as Eve. If a comparison of both works
(Antigone and Paradise Lost) are taken, it will remain obvious that Antigone materializes as a
stronger, more self independent character who is against the societal norms, whereas Eve lacks enough
inner strength and willpower to avoid conforming to the origin of the negativity of social norms. In
general, society is not an evil device to have a part in, rather, it is completely normal. If an individual
lives in a community, neighborhood, city, town, village, etc., they belong in a society. Societies
provide chaos management ; they keep people supposedly in line and provide rules. Rules are not
wicked, but sometimes certain rules may go against the morals of a person, making the rules a
negative aspect of society. This transforms the relationship of an individual existing in

Advantages And Disadvantages Of Tariffs
CHALLENGES
BARRIERS RELATING TO CUSTOMS
Many companies, particularly those in the retail sector, have suggested that tariffs present the greatest
barrier to cross border e commerce. This problem does not exist within the EU, which is a free trade
area; however, when exporting to countries outside of the EU tariffs are, indeed, a major problem. One
business suggested that outside of the EU, tariffs are always the most problematic . Tariffs raise the
price of the products sold by e traders and consequently reduce their competitiveness. Tariffs are,
however, not more of a problem for e commerce than they are for traditional trade. Therefore, in this

One clear example of this is the requirement to use paper invoices and handwritten contracts. This
increases the administrative burden for companies and makes the use of various online based services

Therefore, GCT is used to teacher s benefit, also helping students to gain confidence and a sense of
belonging which in turn will relate back to behaviour. Weakness for GCT is when some individuals
are not motivated to seek out group belonging. While other s may deny, hide and misunderstand their
motives to misbehave. For example, younger students may have trouble in recognising their motives
and older students may not want to do it at all (Lyons, et. al., 2006). GCT may be very difficult to use
if there are a very challenging student and lack of acceptance from other school community members

Negativity Is The Enemy Of Creativity
Negativity is the enemy of creativity David Lynch. Over the past few months of being on my
Instagram account and looking at the comments and pictures of tof people on Instagram, I noticed that
people in this generation are more critical of other people than generations in years past. Two people
in particular, who have been on the receiving end, are Alexis Sanchez and Mesut Ozil two professional
soccer players who play in London for Arsenal FC. Lately their team has not been playing very well or
getting good results in their games; it s evident in the pictures and captions, or lack of captions, that
they post on Instagram. You can tell that people who follow them are very upset by the negative and
dismissive comments on their posts. This exemplifies that in today s society, people have become
more judgemental of the pictures and comments others post on Instagram. One example of this is seen
profoundly on one of the pictures that Alexis Sanchez posted after a loss to Liverpool FC, 4 0. The
picture depicts Alexis squatting on the pitch after being scored on for the fourth time. I noticed that in
the picture below, we see Alexis in frustration with the way that he and his teammates have played
throughout the game (@alexis_officia1). Looking back through his account I made a connection that
directly relates to an incident that happened last year with the club. During that time it was about how
Alexis was reacting/playing on the field during games. He would mope around like he didn t care or
didn t want to be there. Also, during that time the comments were the same as they are now. It is also
evident that he is frustrated with the situation at hand because there was no caption to go along with
the picture. On all his other posts he includes some sort of caption, but in this case he was clearly too
distraught and upset to write one. It was definitely clear that the fans did not like the way he went
about about the loss. The evidence in the comments suggest that they want Alexis to stop acting like a
baby or get out of Arsenal because they don t want a player who won t throw a temper tantrum when
they lost a game (Anonymous 2 and Anonymous 4). I believe that these people have the right to be

Hamlet and His Delay in Seeking Revenge Against Claudius...
Zikima Sawyer

Professor Hayes

Hamlet s Delay
In William Shakespeare, Hamlet, the ghost speaks to Hamlet, claiming to be his father s spirit. Hamlet
is shocked at the revelation that his father has been murdered, and the ghost tells him that as he slept
in his garden, a villain poured poison into his ear, the villain who now wears his crown, Claudius. The
ghost urges Hamlet to seek revenge, telling him that Claudius has corrupted Denmark and Gertrude,
taken her from the love of her first marriage and seduced her in the lust of their incestuous union. The
ghost also urges Hamlet not to act against his mother in any way. Through out the play, Hamlet has
many opportunities to avenge his father s death ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Claudius explains that he has written to the leader of Norway who is currently impotent and bed rid,
(Line 28) to suppress his nephew Fortinbras from pushing this issue. Claudius has done this by
dispatching Cornelius and Voltimand to Norway, the two men exiting after pledging their loyalty (Line
40).
On the other hand, in his first soliloquy, Hamlet expresses unhappiness and wishes he could commit
suicide since the uses of this world have become weary, stale, flat, and unprofitable to him but Hamlet
quickly reprimands himself for such thoughts, they are like weeds in a garden and a sin (Lines 132
136). Hamlet is in fact depressed about the death of his father and marriage of his mother. Despite
Denmark is in a state of high alert and Claudius is preparing for possible war with Fortinbras, Hamlet
s depression supersede being fit to be King of Denmark. Hamlet confesses that his father was so
loving to my mother that he might not betweem the winds of heaven visit her face too roughly (Line
140) and yet within a month (Line153), his very own mother remarried Claudius. Hamlet continues
angrily as to generalizes that all woman like his mother are weak when he says, Frailty, thy name is
woman (Line 146)! Hamlet is second in line to be the King of Denmark but rather than working on a
resolution to save Denmark he is inadvertently depressed and obsessed

Example Of A Performance Management Program
This memo is being provided to St. Jessica s Urban Medical Center to outline actions that must be
taken before the performance management program can be effectively implemented. It is my
understanding that programs that have previously implemented failed and it is expected for this
program to follow the same fate. Therefore, to prevent the failure of this program I have provided a
number of activities that must precede the implementation of the new program. Implementation is the
heart of the performance management program (Angiuis.2013). As organizations spend millions of
dollars on performance management systems, it is important to understand how to properly implement
the system. Understanding that proper communication, training and ... Show more content on

By answering the aforementioned questions, employees will know how training, promotions,
succession, and rewards will work when the performance management program is implemented.
However, addressing training, promotions, succession and reward by effectively communicating the
information to employees, will not guarantee that the staff will accept the performance management
program. This is due to cognitive biases that impact what information employees take in and how said
information is interpreted. There are three types of biases that impact the effectiveness of a
communication plan. Selective exposure a tendency to expose our minds only to ideas with which we
already agree, selective perception the tendency to perceive a piece of information as meaning in a
certain way (even if its meaning is completely different), and selective retention the tendency to
remember only those pieces of information that the employee already agrees with, and not remember
the rest are the three biases that impact the effectiveness of a communication plan. These biases
should be addressed before the implementation of the program, as they affect how well the program
will be implemented. Research on cognitive biases reveals that biases can function as useful
heuristics, an aid to learning, discovery, or problem solving by experimental and/or trial and error
methods, when people must sort through large amounts of information, when the

Research Paper On Sulfur
I choose Sulfur because of it s bright yellow color which really catches your attention. I also found it
very interesting how much damage sulfur really is to the human. Plus is a very hard element to locate
due to the fact that it can mainly be found by hot springs or volcanoes. Sulfur, also spelled sulphur, is
a chemical element with the symbol S and atomic number of 16. It is an abundant non metal and at
room temperature is a bright yellow crystalline solid. Chemically, sulfur combines with all elements
except for gold, platinum, iridium, nitrogen, tellurium, iodine, and the noble gases. Sulfur forms over
30 solid allotropes, more than any other element. Allotropes are different forms in which an element
can exist. I picked this element because ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
As a result of this Sulfur is the 10th most abundant element in the universe. Sulfur, typically in the
form of sulfide, is present in many types of meteorites. The distinctive color of Jupiter s volcanic
moon Io are caused by various forms of molten, solid, and gaseous sulfur. On Earth, elemental sulfur
can be found near hot springs and volcanic areas in many parts of the world. Sulfur is commonly
mined in Indonesia, Chile, and Japan. Historically Sicily, Italy was a large source of sulfur in the
Industrial Revolution. Sulfur can be found in salt deposits along the Gulf of Mexico and evaporites in
eastern Europe and western Asia. Native sulfur may be produced by geological processes alone. Fossil
based sulfur deposits were until recently the basis of commercial production in the United States,
Russia, Turkmenistan, and Ukraine. Currently commercial production is carried out in the Osiek mine

  • 2. Summary Of The Poem Leis Spears Now that the holidays are approaching, a certain long lived adage makes its yearly debut: the feeling of giving is better than the feeling of receiving. Of course, it is generally said in the context of gift exchange. However, who is to say it cannot be a life lesson? Far too often, people are so very involved in themselves that they lose sight of what truly matters, such as family or even community. They believe their own problems to be far too great to waste time on helping others, which is exactly the common schema Edgar Lee Masters refuted in his poem Lois Spears as a part of his collection of poems, Spoon River Anthology. Lois Spears is a woman who, despite having to live without sight, is incredibly happy with how she lived her life. She dedicated herself to serving others and joyfully did so; her story did not convey an ounce of spite or bitterness. Masters ultimately wrote the poem Lois Spears in order to display how looking away from one s own hindrances or troubles and dedicating oneself to improving the lives of others can bring true happiness. Right at from the start, Masters begins Lois story with an epitaph like statement regarding who she is in relation to others: ... [d]aughter of Willard Fluke, / [w]ife of Cyrus Spears, / [m]other of Myrtle and Virgil Spears... Rather than beginning to describe herself, Masters purposefully has Lois speak about others before herself in order to show how Lois puts the needs of others before her own. She ... Implementation Plan In order to upgrade the commuter lounge at Seton Hall, it is important to develop an implementation plan. Having an implementation plan will help us better understand the steps we have to take in order to get the ball rolling. The implementation plan will also help us keep track of where our progress is and what steps we have completed. The implementation plan we created will have four different components: how we will go about implementing our idea, the steps we need to follow to implement our idea, who would need to be involved, and the communication of our plan to others. The way we will go about implementing our idea is rather simple. In order to upgrade the commuter lounge, it is important to gather information about the needs of the commuter student community here at Seton Hall. Conducting a school wide survey of all the commuter students with questions that will target what these students look for in a university being, what the university is lacking, what they would like to see be improved at Seton Hall, among other various questions will give us an idea of what to include in the new commuter lounge. This survey will help us establish if there is a need for an upgraded commuter lounge, as we believe there definitely is. Once the need is figured out, we ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Many have no knowledge of how the healthcare system works, especially in the United States. Each state has its own healthcare system and works by their own rules and laws. One thing which separates Canada with these other states is the cost, the structure and the ratios they have. When people think about healthcare, you get a little bit of both sides. You get the group of people who cannot afford healthcare, and the other group who not only have the income to pay for their healthcare but those who have their private doctors. Many people do not see this as an issue, however they do not even care at the fact that they do not even have any type of healthcare. From generation to generation, there have been several changes in the health industry. This industry is a trillion dollar a year industry which still needs more work. • 19. Change Progress and Prosperity Change Progress and Prosperity The Harvest took place in a small, secluded, and self reliant agricultural community in England, before the industrial revolution. The novel was based on change, growth, progress and prosperity. The village, as the narrator Walter Thirsk stated was, far from everywhere (Crace, 3) and isolated from the world. The village was also fragmented and missing any development of identity. The commons were the people living in the unnamed village. The commons way of life changed from harvesting and plowing to extracting wool for clothing. Jim Crace examined the themes of change and fragmentation by the loss of identity and way of life through the use of symbols, characters, and imagery. In the Harvest, symbolism was evident throughout the novel. Symbols are commonly used to add richness and depth to the story. The author used symbols to develop the main themes of change and fragmentation. During the course of the novel, the most significant symbols included: fire, crops, ghost, unfinished cross, quills, sheep, wool, and the rock. In the novel, fire was the most impactful symbol. The novel started with two fires and ended in one. What starts with fire will end with fire (Crace, 198). One of the most important tasks for a country, state and society is to defend itself against attackers and other threats. Military force, as Clausewitz made explicit, is not an end in itself and it only has meaning in relation to the future desired political landscape. When internal political institutions function normally, the wielders of sovereign power are the natural arbiters of last resort among competing interests and values in the policy, including the subordination of the military to the highest political authorities. Armed Forces of a country should be designed to fulfil all tasks given to them from political authorities. Each country develops its armed forces based on specific conditions and requirements drawn from national security policy and as stated in national security and national defense strategies. National security strategy is aimed to enhance the safety of the nation s economic, social and political institutions against different threats. Strategies also deal with complex and diverse security challenges, like proliferation of weapons of mass destruction, climate change and migrations. Masterpieces come in many varieties and forms such as art pieces, music, and architecture. One of the greatest masterpieces of the Middle Ages, and one that is still standing today, is the Ely Cathedral. Ely Cathedral s construction began in 1082 and took about three hundred years to be completed (Clark, William W.). The ruling class of the day, consisting of kings, queens and their courts, was deeply intertwined with the Catholic Church. Etheldreda, queen of East Angles who later became a nun, founded a monastery in 673 on the grounds that would later become Ely Cathedral. Upon her death and elevation to sainthood she was enshrined where Ely Cathedral would later rise from the place of the former monastery at the decree of the Bishop of Bangor. The bishops of the Middle Ages held high social status and had great influence because of the high roles they held in the state. They were thus able to spend much of the church s wealth in and around the region of Ely on the creation and construction of Ely Cathedral (Burton, Edwin). This spending greatly led to the birth of Ely Cathedral as a social priority. This priority took the form of a broadening of the social structure that included new trades such as stone cutting, masonry and other forms of skilled labor that led to artistic endeavors such as sculpting and painting all directly impacted by cathedral building ( Cathedral Building in the Middle Ages ). Held in very high spiritual and social regard, the cathedrals throughout Europe, including Ely, commanded a kind of reverence that lasted for hundreds of years much as the Catholic Church had before the church gradually began to lose hold of its dominance as the Renaissance began to flourish. Once the Renaissance took hold many cathedrals, including Ely, were diminished in influence and even damaged or destroyed. Ely, however, withstood time ( The Cathedrals of ... This response comes back to haunt the narrator as he buries himself deeper and deeper in intrigue to keep his true identity a secret from Miss Bordereau. When they converse, the narrator is on his toes and very aware of the effect of every word, while Miss Bordereau throws out tidbits to entice him into an indiscreet comment or demand for the papers. For example, she deliberately declines to give him a receipt for his rent payment, prompting the narrator to conclude She had given me a part of her house, but she wouldn t add to that so much as a morsel of paper with her name on it (James, 27). A government is a specialized activity of individuals and institutions that make and enforce the public decision that then becomes binding. The United States government governs themselves in a significant way that is different in comparison to the Swiss government. In the United States, our government can be described as a Representative, Federal Republic, and a Constitutional government. The Swiss government is also described as a Federal Republic but as a direct democracy as well. A direct democracy is a form of government where the people decide on the countries issues. In an arch pattern, ridges flow from one side of the finger directly to the opposite side without any deltas. This type of print accounts for about 5% of all fingerprints. There are two types of arch patterns, the plain arch and tented arch. In a loop pattern, the ridges flow from one side of the finger, than they curve, than pass an imaginary line drawn from the delta to the core, and flow out the same side of the finger. There are three types of fingerprints that could be left at a crime scene. The three types are latent, patent, and plastic. Latent fingerprints are made from the oil and sweat on the surface of a person s skin. This type of print is invisible by the naked eye and requires processing for visibility purposes. Since the beginning of time societies have existed, thriving among mankind. Societies dictate norms and regulations for the people living within them by establishing a status quo. Since the status quo exists, a large majority of people alter their actions and words they do and say to fit the societal norm, the status quo in order to seem normal . As common as a status quo is to societies, so is the reality of a rebel: someone who goes against the status quo, such as Antigone. Societies also have people who overly conform, in turn suffering negative consequences, such as Eve. If a comparison of both works (Antigone and Paradise Lost) are taken, it will remain obvious that Antigone materializes as a stronger, more self independent character who is against the societal norms, whereas Eve lacks enough inner strength and willpower to avoid conforming to the origin of the negativity of social norms. In general, society is not an evil device to have a part in, rather, it is completely normal. If an individual lives in a community, neighborhood, city, town, village, etc., they belong in a society. Over the past few months of being on my Instagram account and looking at the comments and pictures of tof people on Instagram, I noticed that people in this generation are more critical of other people than generations in years past. Two people in particular, who have been on the receiving end, are Alexis Sanchez and Mesut Ozil two professional soccer players who play in London for Arsenal FC. Lately their team has not been playing very well or getting good results in their games; it s evident in the pictures and captions, or lack of captions, that they post on Instagram. You can tell that people who follow them are very upset by the negative and dismissive comments on their posts. This exemplifies that in today s society, people have become more judgemental of the pictures and comments others post on Instagram. One example of this is seen profoundly on one of the pictures that Alexis Sanchez posted after a loss to Liverpool FC, 4 0. The picture depicts Alexis squatting on the pitch after being scored on for the fourth time. I noticed that in the picture below, we see Alexis in frustration with the way that he and his teammates have played throughout the game (@alexis_officia1). Looking back through his account I made a connection that directly relates to an incident that happened last year with the club. During that time it was about how Alexis was reacting/playing on the field during games. He would mope around like he didn t care or didn t want to be there. Also, during that time the comments were the same as they are now. It is also evident that he is frustrated with the situation at hand because there was no caption to go along with the picture. On all his other posts he includes some sort of caption, but in this case he was clearly too distraught and upset to write one. It was definitely clear that the fans did not like the way he went about about the loss. The evidence in the comments suggest that they want Alexis to stop acting like a baby or get out of Arsenal because they don t want a player who won t throw a temper tantrum when they lost a game (Anonymous 2 and Anonymous 4). Selective exposure a tendency to expose our minds only to ideas with which we already agree, selective perception the tendency to perceive a piece of information as meaning in a certain way (even if its meaning is completely different), and selective retention the tendency to remember only those pieces of information that the employee already agrees with, and not remember the rest are the three biases that impact the effectiveness of a communication plan. These biases should be addressed before the implementation of the program, as they affect how well the program will be implemented. Research on cognitive biases reveals that biases can function as useful heuristics, an aid to learning, discovery, or problem solving by experimental and/or trial and error methods, when people must sort through large amounts of information, when the ... • 44. Research Paper On Sulfur I choose Sulfur because of it s bright yellow color which really catches your attention. I also found it very interesting how much damage sulfur really is to the human. Plus is a very hard element to locate due to the fact that it can mainly be found by hot springs or volcanoes. Sulfur, also spelled sulphur, is a chemical element with the symbol S and atomic number of 16. It is an abundant non metal and at room temperature is a bright yellow crystalline solid. Chemically, sulfur combines with all elements except for gold, platinum, iridium, nitrogen, tellurium, iodine, and the noble gases. Sulfur forms over 30 solid allotropes, more than any other element. Allotropes are different forms in which an element can exist. I picked this element because ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... As a result of this Sulfur is the 10th most abundant element in the universe. Sulfur, typically in the form of sulfide, is present in many types of meteorites. The distinctive color of Jupiter s volcanic moon Io are caused by various forms of molten, solid, and gaseous sulfur. On Earth, elemental sulfur can be found near hot springs and volcanic areas in many parts of the world. Sulfur is commonly mined in Indonesia, Chile, and Japan. Historically Sicily, Italy was a large source of sulfur in the Industrial Revolution. Sulfur can be found in salt deposits along the Gulf of Mexico and evaporites in eastern Europe and western Asia. Native sulfur may be produced by geological processes alone. Fossil based sulfur deposits were until recently the basis of commercial production in the United States, Russia, Turkmenistan, and Ukraine. Currently commercial production is carried out in the Osiek mine in ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
