Walt Disney was a small town boy with a dream, just like any other American. However, what
separates Disney from the rest is his creativity, courage, vision, and result oriented mindset. First,
Disney focused closely on his creativity. Disney was always known for his creative characters and
stories, but how did this help him be a catalyst for change? He continued to create. Disney s
imagination never stopped and this allowed his company to prosper. Disney made made many Alice
shorts, but he eventually grew bored of the combination films with real actors and animated
backgrounds. His next idea was Oswald the Rabbit, which was an all animated shorts series. This
series was how Disney s name became recognized widely amongst animators, ... Show more content

Snow White and the Seven Dwarves was Disney s first big risk in the animation business that he used
to further change the art of animation. He pushed his company and employees to work to their limits.
Adding music and the use of the multiplane camera made it possible for Disney s ideas to come to life.
However, Snow White and the Seven Dwarves was considered Disney s Folly because no one
believed it would be able to hold the attention of audiences. However, even when Disney s company
was expected to fail, he did not give up. He was so worried he would not be able to finish Snow White
and the Seven Dwarves, but instead of throwing away his work and company, Disney continued to
fight for the finishing of this production. Because of his perseverance and courage to take such a huge
leap into animated movie production, Snow White and the Seven Dwarves was a hit. Disney even
received an Oscar as a result of the movie s success. Even with the utmost fear, Disney was able to
push through and take the biggest risk out of all animators at the time. His courage to change the art of
animation proved him to be a leader in the animation business as well in entertainment altogether.
Disney did what no others even attempted and was successful in doing so. Walt Disney s vision and
result oriented mindset showed to be a very powerful aspect of his character. From a young age,

Gender Inequality Within Developing Countries And Provide...
Furthermore, the IOC and bodies belonging to the movement reserves about 20% of its decision
making positions for women and it funds women especially from developing countries and offer
assistance programs for athletes, managers and coaches (IOC Factsheet, 2014). The IOC has
developed both educational and training programs targeted at women in Sports to empower them to
take up leadership positions within the administrative structures in the NOCs and National Sports
Federations (IOCs Factsheet, 2014). Despite all these interventions and modifications, organised
sports still remains the institution that perpetuates gender inequality (McDonagh and Pappano
2008:247) and a platform where inequality prospers (Zoonen 1994:150). Messner (1989) ... Show

In Wacquant s (2004:16) view, one needs to acquire a set of bodily and mental schemata and also to
construct the theory of practice to effectively participate in sports (Bourdieu, 1997). Borrowing from
this approach, I will seek to understand and describe my lived experience through active participation
in sports. In this regard, my research will follow the dictates of Mauss, (1979) that, to attain a
disposition to do sports as in the case of any other technique of the body, the work done by the
individual will be for practical collective reason (that underlines accepted theories of social action). In
societies where athletes excel, the benefit is not for only the athlete but also the community as
Brownell (1995:15) explains in training the body for China . Developing his ideas further, Mauss
(1979) posited that there are instances where a physio psycho sociological congregation of series of
action may be habitual or ancient in the life of the individual and also in the history of the society. The
idea of a habitual physio psycho sociological comportment might help account for why women do not
participate in sports to the same degree as men the larger social habitus does not include a prominent
role for women in sports participation. Nationalisation Foucault (1977, 1978) theorized that

Comparing The Achaemenid Empire And The Imperial Stability...
Throughout human civilization, it has been invariably true that the ideas and innovations belonging to
particular societies have been adopted by both concurrent and later cultures. This has culminated in
remarkably advanced societies, whose success can be attributed to that of their ancient counterparts.
Much of the prosperity of modern civilization can certainly be accredited to the Achaemenid Empire,
a pluralistic empire founded in 550 BCE. At its peak, it stretched from the Indus River Valley to the
eastern Mediterranean coast. Despite its diversity, the empire remained politically and societally
united throughout its existence. The two major Achaemenid emperors responsible for the imperial
stability and prosperity were Cyrus and ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
To retain the power that emperors would have, Cyrus instituted checks and balances in this political
system; though satraps technically governed the provinces, the emperor had the power to institute
legislation that applied to the entire empire (Farazmand). Furthermore, the emperor would have the
ability to appoint, and if necessary, remove satraps from their positions. This ensured the loyalty of
satraps, as emperors could monitor them. This system of checks and balances resulted in a politically
efficient empire, in the context of both legislation and appointing government officials. This efficiency
encouraged Greeks and Romans to use similar techniques to manage their governmental systems,
contributing to the stability of their respective empires. Romans and Greeks were heavily influenced
by Persian administrative policies, establishing a satrapy system of local governorship (New World
Encyclopedia Contributors). With the existence of administrative divisions, Persians were given
province oriented legislation by their satraps. As a result, however, it became harder for the general
public to communicate directly with high ranking Persian officials, resulting in some bureaucratic
flaws.
The Achaemenid Empire s standardization of land and sea routes solidified their bureaucratic system,
inspiring Romans to do the same. The Persian Royal Road was constructed by Darius the Great in the
5th century BCE. It is considered to be the first

Essay on The Main Theological Concerns Within the Book of...
The Main Theological Concerns Within the Book of Deuteronomy The book of Deuteronomy is one
of the most important and extensive books within the Old Testament. Its content is diverse and
explicit, focussing specifically on the introduction of an apparently new and radical theology. One of
its primary aims was not, as many OT books had done previously, to initiate and educate a minority of
the ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
In proposing that the people were now governed by a single God, the Deuteronomists then proceeded
to emphasize the superiority of their God with regard to the Gods that were worshipped by the
surrounding nations[4]. The superiority of YHWH necessarily supposed that the Israelites were
obliged to obey him, thus re affirming the Ten Commandments given to Moses by YHWH on
Mt.Horeb. YHWH s position was portrayed to the Israelites as one of supreme power, but also one of
abounding love and compassion towards his followers. This in turn allowed Deuteronomy to make
reference to the punishments applicable to those who did not believe in the God of the Israelites (7:1
5). Such punishments were seen to be wholly necessary for those who turned against YHWH and
refused to obey him[5].
The refutation of polytheistic beliefs within Deuteronomy naturally led to the rejection of any symbol
or object being erected by the people in the place of YHWH (5:8; 4:1 40). The Deuteronomists
assumed that YHWH would never fully reveal himself to the Israelites and therefore refuted the
formulation of images on the earth that were erected and worshipped as YHWH. Such icons and
images were seen to impugn the sovereignty of God , representative of a re working of the
unknowable image of God into a specific form to suit the needs of

Comparing and Contrasting Rikki tikki tavi the Movie and Book
A small mongoose all alone has to face to king cobras. A giant wave flushes Rikki out from his warm,
cozy den and leaves him on the bank by Teddy s family s garden where he faces two king cobras Nag
and Nagaina. If he does not kill them his new friends will die! This conflict is portrayed in the story
Rikki tikki tavi by Rudyard Kipling which became a motion picture movie. The story and the movie
are similar in plot but there are some notable differences, including where Rikki finds Teddy in the
bath and that Nagaina waits for one of the family members or Rikki to move to strike Teddy s leg.
These differences only take shape in the movie. The characters, setting, and conflicts are similar in
both versions with very small differences. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Rikki, the mongoose is the same in the story and the movie. The story says Rikki tikki s eyes grew red
again, and he danced up to Karait with the peculiar rocking, swaying motion that he had inherited

any angle you please; and in dealing with snakes this is an advantage. (Kipling) His eyes also get
bright red in the movie. Darzee, the tailor bird, is the same in both sources as well. Darzee cries out in
his loudest voice his song pertaining to Nag s death. However, a difference between the movie and the
story is that Rikki tells Darzee to tell the coppersmith, a bird, to tell the garden that Nag and Nagaina
are dead this only happens in the story. In an overall view the characters are very, exact in both the

The Key Themes In Animal Farm By George Orwell
Animal Farm, an allegorical novel by George Orwell, depicts a very clear picture of the events leading
up to the 1917 Russian Revolution and the Stalinist era of the Soviet Union. The techniques Orwell
has used when writing this piece allows his robust view points and prominent reoccurring themes to
become clear. A couple of themes that stood out the most to me was the use of education and
intelligence, as well as corruption of power and leadership to fuel oppression. Orwell uses the imagery
of a farm and the farmyard animals to represent Russia and the dominant figures of the time. Other
techniques such as satire were also used to portray his opinions and key messages.
One of the key themes in Animal Farm was the use of intelligence ... Show more content on

Orwell s novel proves that Stalin wasn t the world s first corrupt leader and Trump won t be the last,
which is why I have confidence that Animal Farm will always relate to how it is difficult for some to
have power without the temptation of abusing it.
Further on in the text, the pigs discover a children s book which they use to teach themselves how to
read and write. However, when they are finished with the book they destroy it preventing any of the
other animals from finding it and becoming equally as smart as the pigs. By using their skills and
leadership positions to their advantage, the pigs don t contribute to the physical, labor intensive jobs,
but take control of the organization and direction of Manor Farm. This theme of using intelligence and
education to manipulate a population is not only prevalent during the time Orwell wrote the novel, but
is also significant in the world we live in today.
At the beginning of the text, the character Old Major states that in order to move forward the animals
must be [in] perfect unity, perfect comradeship in the struggle . When Old Major dies, the animals are
left deprived of a leader causing Napoleon and Snowball to fight. Napoleon wins by manipulating the
other animals and hence becoming the leader . As the novel progresses, Napoleon continues to gain
power and soon appears as a dictator, by oppressing the animals. He used force to brain wash and
manipulate the animals, making them work

Jury Duty Essay
Serving on a jury is a civic duty and an American tradition. However, some people view jury duty as a
chore or as an event that negatively interrupts their lives. Some independent studies have shown that
even jury duty has a devastating effect on married life. Due to this and other extraneous situations,
there are only a few people who actually want to serve on a jury. This may lead to efforts by potential
jurors to, in some way get out of their duty in a jury. What we know of as the current jury duty system
should be changed so citizens are not forced to serve in this capacity and can still be regarded as a
responsible civilian. As per the status quo, a trial jury is a constitutional right, a jury of ones peers or
equals. However, ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
However when it is time to deliberate and come to an important verdict, these same people have a
hard time making impartial and fair decisions because the many prior misconceptions that they
possess. It is impossible for anyone to be completely impartial and fair, especially with inadequate
knowledge of the law. It can take only one partial, and unfair person to change the whole outcome of
the verdict.
Today, jurors sometimes leave courtrooms in tears after convicting people they believed were morally
(if not legally) innocent, or after witnessing the harsh sentences handed down by judges at the
sentencing phase of seemingly minor cases. That is exactly the sort of travesty trial by jury was
intended to prevent. If the law were just and justly applied, jurors would have no reason to regret their
verdicts, or the sentences that are meted out later by judges. (Trial by Jury Website) This would
seemingly encourage the American judicial system to adapt the jury system to meet the needs of our
current American society. It is unpleasant for the jurors to make very hard choices concerning the lives
of other fellow citizens. It is also hard for the persons who are standing trial to know that their fate is
going to rest with people with little or no knowledge of the law.
The jury causes a great waste of time. It has been pointed out that a trial by jury usually requires two
to three times the amount of time

Middle Ages Inventions
How the Middle Ages made our lives easier
The Middle Ages, often called the Dark Ages, was famous for its numerous inventions. They had a
variety of weapons and tools. Their inventions helped them with everyday life and some we still use to
this day. Simple tools were used to make these inventions. Most inventions were made for everyday
life but some were made for war.
The inventions in the middle ages impacted everyday life. The invention of the clock provided closer
structure to daily life. The wheelbarrow allowed faster monenent of heavy loads from place to place, it
is used today for gardening and farmwork, as a couple of examples of how we use the wheelbarrow in
today s world. Farming inventions enabled the people of the Middle Ages to increase their food
production to feed a growing population. One of the other inventions that helped feed a growing
population was the plough. It made tilling of the land for crops easier in the Middle Ages. Nautical

Stylistic Comparison Essay examples
When an artist creates a painting it is not only to make a picture. Its purpose is to create a feeling or
mood. Usually drawing more than an ordinary moment in life, usually stirring some kind of emotion
that the artist is passionate about he hopes the viewer will feel. This is the purpose and beauty of art.
Throughout history, the arts have been a form of rationalization in the mind of an artist. The
progression of knowledge over a period of time can be mapped by many artists masterpieces. This
shift in time can be seen in the romantic style of Eugene Delacroix s, Paganini, and the neo classical

The lighting and placement are very prominent. The light hues of the paint draw your eyes directly to
Paganini s face and delicate hands on the violin. This dark contrast makes the images jump out at you,
creating drama and intrigue. It leaves me wondering what lies in the black luminous area surrounding
the violinist. Delacroix places the main figure directly in the center giving the viewer one principle
element to focus on. This places the audience right at eye level with the accomplished musician. As if
you were there listening to him playing a concerto. You are enthralled by the deep concentration
shown on his face. His intensity is clear but at the same time distant and illusory. This continually
draws your attention to the emotions of this great man. He looks as if he can feel the music running
through his body, touching every inch of his soul. The representation of Paganini flows in a circular
motion. You can feel the flow of his body, from his face to his outstretched leg. Each part of his body
drifts together with a clear pattern of movement. The artist drew the body in the form of a triangle
from his head down to his separated legs. His story is told through this illusion of depth and theatrical
mirage filled with dramatic intention. In this painting, Delacroix uses color, light and shadow to direct
attention to the intense musician. With this new romantic style came a greater

You usually don t get to get too close to Disney and Pixar like that unless you re a celebrity or you re

Mickey Rourke Research Paper
In July 1964, Mickey Rourke, fighting as Phil Rourke, won 3 round decision over Roger Hough in an
armature boxing match in Miami, Florida
Coming from a background of professional heavyweight boxing, it is not surprising that Mickey
Rourke launched off in Hollywood primarily as an action man. He had several successes in his acting
stint before becoming a professional boxer.
After numerous injuries Rourke retired from sports and went back to acting, having earned acclaim for
his role in The Wrestler (2008) and Iron Man 2 (2010). Rourke basically caught the acting bug in the

the acting game playing a supporting role alongside Denzel Washington. His performance established
him to be a legitimate actor once again. In 2005, he landed the lead in the international blockbuster,
Sin City, directed by Robert Rodriguez. His role as a gritty, urban detective catapulted Rourke to the A
list of acting talent, and earned him a new generation of fans. He reprised his role in the 2014 sequel,
Sin City: A Dame to Kill For. In 2008, Rourke met more critical acclaim with his role as Randy The

nominated along with co star, Marisa Tomei for an Academy Award. It has been a long, slow climb
back from his 80 s career dive, but Rourke managed to make a comeback as a prominent actor, having
appearance in several action and thriller films since his return to the silver screen, including Iron Man

When I Was Miss Dow Essay
Imagine a world where one could not hide anything. Imagine a world where every aspect of life was
visible at all times. Imagine a world where every flaw and imperfection could be seen from every
angle. Imagine a world that looked down on individuality. Hard to imagine a world like this?
Unfortunately, this world already exists and everyone already lives in it. The world is transparent and
no matter what, every aspect of life can be seen and assessed. The world that Miss Dow resides in the
story When I Was Miss Dow by Sonya Dorman Hess resembles the transparent world where nothing
can be hidden or kept secret from the rest of society. When one lives transparently they are judged and

These groups define society and leave individuals blind to their personal identity and the

that transformed into a female human, in order to assimilate and learn about the humans and their way
of life. She is created with two brain lobes, allowing her to feel emotions and feelings, just like a
natural human. Miss Dow s obligation as a human was to fit in with society, which she was successful
in achieving. They come first as explorers, and perhaps realize we are a race of one sex only, rather
amorphous beings of proteide; and we, even baby I, are Protean also, being able to take various shapes

was not only to get information, but also to portray the human culture and the significance placed on
fitting in with others and being a part of a defining group. This shows that our society places more
emphasis on fitting in rather than being an individual with a unique personality, reflecting that the
majority of people are insecure with themselves due to the social expectations set upon them from the

Contemporary Sociological Theory Reviewed Essay
1. Our understanding of contemporary capitalist culture and globalization has been greatly influenced
by neo Marxism. There have been many significant events all over the world such as the Great
Depression, The Second World War which have contributed to our understanding of contemporary
capitalist culture. There has been a false consciousness associated with this time and date since
capitalism continues to deliver the goods (Adams Sydie, 2002: 90). The beginning of the end of
capitalist conflict and the beginning of the beginning of socialism came with the U.S. economic and
military dominance after 1945 and also, on the other side of the coin, the Stalinist model of socialist
development failed to live up to it s own Marxist ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
They noted that the class structures of these societies were products of neo imperialism. The
domination is achieved through investment, the control of technological expertise, money through the
World Bank and International Monetary Fund. The term Monopoly Capitalism covers all of those
aspects. Wallerstein proposed an analytic framework. He felt he was conducting world system analysis
and not writing world system theory. He believed there were three factors which were essential when
establishing a world economy. First, he saw an expansion of the geographical size of the world in
question. Second, the development of variegated methods of labor control for different products and
different zones of the world economy, and Third, the creation of relatively strong state machineries in
what would become the core states of this capitalist world economy (121). Wallerstein identifies the
core, periphery and the semi periphery. The core is the economic interest which control productive
activities. The periphery is the opposite of the core. The core controls all of the periphery s resources.
The semi periphery is the mid point between the core and the periphery. It serves as a gray zone with
independent capital yet is dependent on the core for much of it s infrastructure. Wallerstein identifies
three means for moving from periphery to a semi periphery. First he talks about seizing the chance.

Being exposed to so many parts of HIM and actually preforming those functions has helped me to
visualize what I will be expanding on in class when I get back to school. Although my experiences
thus far have been in facilities that were mostly hybrid and not too much of the paper environment, I
did get an idea of the functionality of facilities that are mostly paper based from the feedbacks of the
other students on moodle. This also exposed me to functionalities that would exist in these types of
environments like record assembly. Spending time in each area of HIM has also been an enlightened
me on what it is I want to do. Prior to my on site experience I wanted to shy away from the idea of

Makeup, Beauty, Makeup, Disney, And Dreams
When someone asks me, a teenager, what 3 things I love or interest me I reply with makeup, anything
Disney, and dreams. The reason I love all these things is because they all correspond with one another.
Disney is where all your dreams come true, makeup is a thing that you put on to make yourself look
and feel like a dream. Disney is all about crazy makeup to make people look a certain way for
characters such as, villains, heroes, and damsels in distress, for you to remember them, maybe even in
your dreams. Makeup is a way to define your features and make you feel more beautiful like the girls
in Disney movies.
Makeup only used to be for men and women to enhance their beauty. Now makeup is still used for
that very same reason but it s for themselves, because they aren t trying to impress anyone but
themselves. From 3000 B.C. men wore wigs and makeup to make them more eye catching. All women
would use makeup to make themselves prettier and so did men. The egyptians were the first people to
create cosmetics. They wore it for special occasions like festivals or celebrations. They also would put
themselves at risk because of the things they were putting on there face to make them look more
beautiful. Things like: using burnt matches for eyeliner, they would use berries for their lip stains, they
would try to make their face paler (because it was deemed more beautiful that way) with leeches,
arsenic, mercury and lead (Gardner). They didn t have to do that though because Disney

Flies With Honey Guilty
The critical function of drama , so Robert Brustein tell us, is to arouse the remorse of guilty creatures
(382). In Flies with Honey, the underlining theme is guilt: not only Anna s compunction over
potentially murdering the girl she is in love with, but also her guilt for having these feelings of love in
the first place. This is intended to be portrayed not only through dialogue but having Amy, the alleged
murder victim, appear as a manifestation of the protagonist s guilt. In order to present this
successfully, I had to understand what it means to write of guilt feelings for the stage and how such
structure can affect characters and their authenticity. I also had to explore how this medium can be
realised in musical theatre.
In very broad terms, there exist two types of plot: one that is driven by action, and one that is driven
by characters (Alderson). Because my stageplay is only fifteen or so pages long and takes place in one
location, it allowed itself to be more character based. However, writing for theatre also brings the
audience into what Martin Meisel calls the present progressive , which he defines as a state of time

Manipulations In Memento, By Christopher Leonard And Mollo
Throughout Memento there are a multiplicity of instances in which manipulation occurs. The audience
sees a plethora of people manipulating Leonard such as Teddy, Natalie and Burt. The audience
generally associates these individuals as the main manipulators in Memento, however that Christopher
Nolan and Leonard, respectively, manipulate the audience and themselves far more than anyone else.
Leonard is seen manipulating himself several times throughout Memento. One of the ways he does
this is through his tattoos. He writes certain things on his body to influence what he will remember
such as remember Sammy Jenkins. Leonard also uses photos and writes information on these as well
as the tattoos. The color sequences begin to elude that Leonard might have mixed motives for writing
something down on a photo. Teddy eludes that Leonard is a serial killer and that he killed the real
John. G. over a year ago. After Teddy reveals this to Leonard, Leonard purposely alters the memory
and writes down on his photo to not trust Teddy. The audience begins to realize that Leonard alters the
tattoos and photos for his own personal gain (Vane 2) Teddy later reveals that Leonard had taken out
pages in his own file and that his wife did not die in the attack and instead Leonard killed her with
insulin shots. At this point the audience realizes the tattoo is there so he never has to remember killing

Critically Evaluate How the Situational Model of...
Introduction
Saddam Hussein was the President of Iraq from 1979 to 2003 and during his time in office was
responsible for a tumultuous period in Iraqi history. For the purposes of analysis of his leadership style
with respect to a Situational model, three areas of his career will be looked at separately; his rise to
presidency from Vice President, during the Iran Iraq War and post invasion of Kuwait.
Situational model of leadership
A widely recognised situational model is the model developed by Hersey and Blanchard (1969) and
the revised model by Blanchard et al. (1985) (Northhouse, 2007). The theory in outline states that one

This leadership style needs to be used sparingly since workers can often burn out due to the
demanding pace of the style.
Democratic Leaders: The Democratic Leadership Style gives members of the work group a vote or a
say in nearly every decision the team makes. When used effectively, the democratic leader builds
flexibility and responsibility and can help identify new ways to do things with fresh ideas. Care should
be taken due to the level of personal involvement required by this style and the decision making
process itself can be very time consuming.
Affiliative Leaders: The Affiliative Leadership Style is most effective in situations where morale is
low or teambuilding is needed. This leader is easily recognized by their theme of employee first.
Employees can expect much praise from this style; unfortunately, poor performance may also go
without reprimand.

Authoritative Leaders: If your business seems to be drifting aimlessly, the Authoritative Leadership
Style can be very effective in this type of situation. The authoritative leader is an expert in dealing
with the problems and challenges at hand and can clearly identify goals that will lead to success. This
leader also allows the employees themselves to figure out the best way to achieve those goals.
Coercive Leaders: The Coercive Leadership Style should be used with caution because it is based on

burglary, larceny, motor vehicle theft, arson, and local law enforcement agencies are also required to
provide additional details about a crime when it appears to be motivated by hate. Law enforcement
agencies are required to report only the most serious offense in a crime that involves multiple

The National Incident Based Reporting System was begun as a collaboration between the Department
of Justice Bureau of Crime Statistics and the FBI as an enhancement to the Uniform Crime Reports

arrests on 46 specific crimes in 22 offense categories.
The National Crime Victimization Survey collects data through victim surveys. The collected data
differs from the data collected by the UCR and NIBRS, as it includes both reported and unreported
crimes, counts each offense separately in crimes with multiple offenses, and includes details about the
crime, victim, and the victimizations as a result of the crime. The data collected differs from the data
collected by the UCR in that it does not collect data on homicides, kidnappings, victimless crimes,

Criticism In Salvador Dalli s The Temptation Of Bel Dali
In 1946 Salvador Dali, a spanish surrealist artist painted The Temptation of St Anthony in the matter
of a few short days in the studio that he stayed in next to the Colony Restaurant in New York. Dali
made this piece after he was invited to enter in a contest for the painting to be used in a film called
The Private Affairs of Bel Ami. Unfortunately he did not win, this was the only contest he s ever
entered. The painting is now located in the Royal Museums of Fine Arts of Belgium. Dali used oil on
a 47 x 35 inch canvas to create this piece. It was created in what was commonly known as the classical
period or Dali Renaissance . This painting features St Anthony kneeling in the left corner of a barren
desert under a blue sky. He holds out a cross out with his right hand while leaning back on a rock with
his left hand, a human skull lying near his foot. In front of him a strong, white horse bucks onto its
hind legs, behind the horse is a parade of elephants carrying things representing temptation. The
animals all have very long exaggerated legs, the elephants carry two nude female figures, one is a
statue and one is in an extravagant building, they also carry an obelisk and a vertical tower. Lastly
there appears to be a city of some sort in the approaching clouds to the left, along with a mountain
landscape in the background. Dali uses line prominently throughout this piece, starting with the strong
straight horizon line in the background. He also uses it with the crooked

Exceptional Student Education Narrative
I have been working on my Master s Degree in Exceptional Student Education at Southeastern

quickly the time is passing. I am a wife of a loving husband and a mother of five children ranging in
age from 23 to 12 years. I have been serving the Lord since 1993. I currently work as an educational
therapist for a private center in Baton Rouge, Louisiana.
In August of this year, Baton Rouge and the surrounding areas were partially destroyed by the Great
Flood of 2016. More than 100,000 homes were flooded, and my family, along with thousands of
others, has been displaced. Our home is soon to be repaired (we pray!), which is a blessing
considering that many other homes received water in depths up to the ceiling rafters and cannot be
repaired. Students served by our center have been displaced, with some families relocating to other
states to seek shelter with extended family and friends. Yet, even with all of this devastation, I can see
that the Lord has used to flood waters to wash away much of the dissention that had come to the
forefront in our city. Nearly everyone is pulling together and showing the love of Christ as never

The Flat Tax System
Taxes are something the people of America have had an issue with since the very creation of this
nation, and it is one of the main reasons the Revolutionary War was fought. The issue of taxes has
morphed over time, and in our current time period, people are debating which tax system should be
implemented. Even though this is a broad topic and a national issue, this paper will only cover the
income tax version of these systems, and which income tax system would be most beneficial to the

Also, if the government wanted to raise more revenue through raising income taxes, and there was a
flat income tax system in place, they would have to raise the income taxes for everyone across the
board. Now, let s look back the example from earlier where person one made $50,000 and person two
made $100,000. Remember, they both payed the same percentage of their income in taxes, which was
10%: person one payed $5,000, person two payed $10,000. Some people will say that this way of
taxation is unfair because the $5,000 means more to person one than the $10,000 means to person two.
Regardless of whether the $5,000 means more to person one than the $10,000 means to person two is
true or not, they are being treated fairly because they are both paying the same percentage of their
income. The flat tax has good points like its simplicity and ability to stimulate an economy, but it also
has weaknesses like its inability to be flexible after implementation and the possibility of putting even
more of a tax burden on lower income families. Let s move on to the third and final tax system to be
covered which is no income

Theme Of Ode On The Death Of Goldfishes By Thomas Gray
The ultimate goal many desire is material wealth, chasing fortune in their careers, relationships, or
recreation. Morals and intellect sometimes deteriorate in pursuit of this goal, as the coveted wealthy
status takes precedence over the weight of virtue. Thomas Gray, in his Ode on the Death of a
Favourite Cat Drowned in a Tub of Goldfishes , pokes satiric fun at the use of the ode while
simultaneously constructing a cautionary moral about materialism. Crafting the story of the archetypal
tragic hero, the poet idolizes the muse of his piece only to watch her collapse into the inevitable fate of
her flaws. Gray s tone begins quite reverent and melodramatic, building up the beloved cat, then later
shifts to a satiric and cautionary tone, warning readers against the dangers of pursuing empty wealth.
Gray establishes the idolization common in an ode, taking on a reverent tone to open the piece by
building upon the beauty and character of the cat. Employing imagery, the poet compares the cat and
her surroundings to beauty and riches, establishing her worth and her vanity. He notes the velvet of her
paws and emerald eyes , depicting the luxurious beauty of the cat and indicating that she appears
expensive in all of her splendor. The use of velvet and emerald associate the feline with expensive
items, increasing her worth in the reader s eyes. Coupled with purring of applause , a depiction in
which Selima celebrates her own appearance, these expensive comparisons also

Essay about The Fokker Eindecker During World War One
In today s world, the use of airplanes in wars or in everyday life has become a part of how we live as
human beings. Removing the air forces of the world is like taking a step back in time when wars were
only fought on land or sea. WWI began only eleven short years after the Wright brothers achieved
powered flight in 19031 and yet aircrafts were being used for surveillance and eventually combat
purposes. It is understood that these aircrafts were primitive, but they laid down the foundation for
what we know today as fighter jets. The Fokker Eindecker revolutionized air combat by successfully
employing a synchronized forward firing machine gun mounted on the engine cowling 2. Because this
airplane became the first to successfully use a ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
What was the importance to this plane? The French plane included a machine gun attached to its

that wouldn t allow the propellers to be damaged by the gun.6 What made Fokker s E series
revolutionary was the synchronized machine gun attached to the propellers. The gun attached to the
French plane had metal plates to protect it from the bullets but Fokker realized that they were not one
hundred percent protected. By devising a synchronizing machine gun with the propeller, there would
be no way for the aircraft to be damaged and all the pilot had to do was point the aircraft in the
direction he wanted to attact.4 The warfare of World War one was the deadliest to date due to new

10 Business Snapshot 1.1 Hedge Funds
CHAPTER 1
Hedge funds have become major users of derivatives for hedging, speculation, and arbitrage. A hedge
fund is similar to a mutual fund in that it invests funds on behalf of clients. However, unlike mutual
funds hedge funds are not required to register under U.S. federal securities law. This is because they
accept funds only from ®nancially sophisticated individuals and do not publicly o€er their securities.
Mutual funds are subject to regulations requiring that shares in the funds be fairly priced, that the
shares be redeemable at any time, that investment policies be disclosed, that the use of leverage be

Note that a company might do better if it chooses not to hedge than if it chooses to hedge.
Alternatively, it might do worse. Consider ImportCo. If the exchange rate is 1.7000 on October 14 and
the company has not hedged, the £10 million that it has to pay will cost $17,000,000, which is less
than $18,405,000. On the other hand, if the exchange rate is 1.9000, the £10 million will cost
$19,000,000Ðand the company will wish it had hedged! The position of ExportCo if it does not hedge
is the reverse. If the exchange rate in September proves to be less than 1.8400, the company will wish
it had hedged; if the rate is greater than 1.8400, it will be pleased it has not done so. This example
illustrates a key aspect of hedging. Hedging reduces the risk, but it is not necessarily the case that the
outcome with hedging will be better than the outcome without hedging.

Essay about Terror in Spielberg s Jaws
Terror in Spielberg s Jaws
The film Jaws exemplifies the statement Sublime terror rests in the unseen the ultimate horror . Some
people would say that dismemberment and gore is needed to terrorise an audience, but this only
shocks and disgusts viewers. A horror film should therefore make the audience imagine the terror in
order to maximise the fear factor.
Many horror films nowadays use similar techniques to those used by Spielberg in the film Jaws . They
use techniques such as framing and mise en scene in order to create something called safe space and
unsafe space. Safe space is the space that the camera is looking at. It is where there is no danger and
nothing dreadful would be expected ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The shower scene only lasts about a minute, but is made of about eighty shots. This effect has made
this scene a very famous one because of the way it creates tension and frightens the audience.
In the film Jaws , the vast ocean is the unsafe space with the shark moving around it. The use of safe
and unsafe space helps create and build up tension. At the beginning of the film Jaws , the shark s
attacks are close by to the shore, which shows us that the shallow water cannot stop it from attacking
people. But as the film persists, the shark attacks are out in the middle of the ocean and from the
moment the characters leave the beach to go hunting, they are cut off from the rest of the characters.
This is where the mise en scene technique is most used in the film. The shark cannot be seen as it is a
vast ocean and it could jump out unexpectedly of at any time from any direction at the characters,
which would destroy the safe space.
The film was directed by Steven Spielberg, a well known director in Hollywood and a splendid
director throughout his filming career. The film was produced by David Brown and Richard D.
Zanuck in 1975. The film lasts 93 minutes and is rated as a 12. The idea of creating this film came
from the book Jaws written by Peter Benchley. Like many of Spielberg s films, the film Jaws can be
classified as Action,

How Did Guatemala After Independence
Guatemala After Independence:
After independence, in the late nineteenth century and early twentieth century, Guatemala solely relied
on coffee as a means of exports. Life in Guatemala did not change significantly after independence.
However, the major change came economically after independence Guatemala focused on the
production of coffee. Coffee became their main cash crop, and foreign investment in coffee increased.
Coffee then began to be produce at a large scale, large masses of lands were required to cultivate it. As
a result many of the indigenous people who owned land in the countrysides lost their lands. The
government support if the production of coffee, drove off the indigenous off their lands. The masses of
lands then required for people to work the lands. As a result of being driven off their lands, and not
having means of production of crops to sell and to have to eat, the indigenous were driven to work and
cultivate the lands they once owned. The indigenous became dependent on this type of employment.
The work of indigenous people cultivating land developed a complex system of labor into three types
of classes as ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Democratic reforms were passed with the goals to modernize Guatemala. As the nineteenth century
was coming to an end, the twentieth century saw the benefits of industrialization. Industrialization had
modernized many countries, and as a result there was an expansion world capitalism. Capitalism
brought in a large frequency of monopolization of these modernized and industrialized countries such
as those in Europe and the US. The book The Battle for Guatemala written by Susanne Jonas explains
for Guatemala this meant a new kind of foreign investment , giving control over important productive
sectors of the economy to foreign interests, and producing a new alliance between those interests and
the Guatemalan bourgeoisie (Jonas,

Furthermore, the IOC and bodies belonging to the movement reserves about 20% of its decision making positions for women and it funds women especially from developing countries and offer assistance programs for athletes, managers and coaches (IOC Factsheet, 2014). The IOC has developed both educational and training programs targeted at women in Sports to empower them to take up leadership positions within the administrative structures in the NOCs and National Sports Federations (IOCs Factsheet, 2014). Despite all these interventions and modifications, organised sports still remains the institution that perpetuates gender inequality (McDonagh and Pappano 2008:247) and a platform where inequality prospers (Zoonen 1994:150). In this regard, my research will follow the dictates of Mauss, (1979) that, to attain a disposition to do sports as in the case of any other technique of the body, the work done by the individual will be for practical collective reason (that underlines accepted theories of social action). In societies where athletes excel, the benefit is not for only the athlete but also the community as Brownell (1995:15) explains in training the body for China . Developing his ideas further, Mauss (1979) posited that there are instances where a physio psycho sociological congregation of series of action may be habitual or ancient in the life of the individual and also in the history of the society. The idea of a habitual physio psycho sociological comportment might help account for why women do not participate in sports to the same degree as men the larger social habitus does not include a prominent role for women in sports participation. Throughout human civilization, it has been invariably true that the ideas and innovations belonging to particular societies have been adopted by both concurrent and later cultures. This has culminated in remarkably advanced societies, whose success can be attributed to that of their ancient counterparts. Much of the prosperity of modern civilization can certainly be accredited to the Achaemenid Empire, a pluralistic empire founded in 550 BCE. At its peak, it stretched from the Indus River Valley to the eastern Mediterranean coast. Despite its diversity, the empire remained politically and societally united throughout its existence. To retain the power that emperors would have, Cyrus instituted checks and balances in this political system; though satraps technically governed the provinces, the emperor had the power to institute legislation that applied to the entire empire (Farazmand). Furthermore, the emperor would have the ability to appoint, and if necessary, remove satraps from their positions. This ensured the loyalty of satraps, as emperors could monitor them. This system of checks and balances resulted in a politically efficient empire, in the context of both legislation and appointing government officials. This efficiency encouraged Greeks and Romans to use similar techniques to manage their governmental systems, contributing to the stability of their respective empires. Romans and Greeks were heavily influenced by Persian administrative policies, establishing a satrapy system of local governorship (New World Encyclopedia Contributors). With the existence of administrative divisions, Persians were given province oriented legislation by their satraps. As a result, however, it became harder for the general public to communicate directly with high ranking Persian officials, resulting in some bureaucratic flaws. The Achaemenid Empire s standardization of land and sea routes solidified their bureaucratic system, inspiring Romans to do the same. In proposing that the people were now governed by a single God, the Deuteronomists then proceeded to emphasize the superiority of their God with regard to the Gods that were worshipped by the surrounding nations[4]. The superiority of YHWH necessarily supposed that the Israelites were obliged to obey him, thus re affirming the Ten Commandments given to Moses by YHWH on Mt.Horeb. YHWH s position was portrayed to the Israelites as one of supreme power, but also one of abounding love and compassion towards his followers. This in turn allowed Deuteronomy to make reference to the punishments applicable to those who did not believe in the God of the Israelites (7:1 5). Such punishments were seen to be wholly necessary for those who turned against YHWH and refused to obey him[5]. The refutation of polytheistic beliefs within Deuteronomy naturally led to the rejection of any symbol or object being erected by the people in the place of YHWH (5:8; 4:1 40). The Deuteronomists assumed that YHWH would never fully reveal himself to the Israelites and therefore refuted the formulation of images on the earth that were erected and worshipped as YHWH. Such icons and images were seen to impugn the sovereignty of God , representative of a re working of the unknowable image of God into a specific form to suit the needs of ... The Key Themes In Animal Farm By George Orwell Animal Farm, an allegorical novel by George Orwell, depicts a very clear picture of the events leading up to the 1917 Russian Revolution and the Stalinist era of the Soviet Union. The techniques Orwell has used when writing this piece allows his robust view points and prominent reoccurring themes to become clear. A couple of themes that stood out the most to me was the use of education and intelligence, as well as corruption of power and leadership to fuel oppression. Orwell s novel proves that Stalin wasn t the world s first corrupt leader and Trump won t be the last, which is why I have confidence that Animal Farm will always relate to how it is difficult for some to have power without the temptation of abusing it. However, when they are finished with the book they destroy it preventing any of the other animals from finding it and becoming equally as smart as the pigs. By using their skills and leadership positions to their advantage, the pigs don t contribute to the physical, labor intensive jobs, but take control of the organization and direction of Manor Farm. This theme of using intelligence and education to manipulate a population is not only prevalent during the time Orwell wrote the novel, but is also significant in the world we live in today. At the beginning of the text, the character Old Major states that in order to move forward the animals must be [in] perfect unity, perfect comradeship in the struggle . When Old Major dies, the animals are left deprived of a leader causing Napoleon and Snowball to fight. Napoleon wins by manipulating the other animals and hence becoming the leader . He believed there were three factors which were essential when establishing a world economy. First, he saw an expansion of the geographical size of the world in question. Second, the development of variegated methods of labor control for different products and different zones of the world economy, and Third, the creation of relatively strong state machineries in what would become the core states of this capitalist world economy (121). The core controls all of the periphery s resources. The semi periphery is the mid point between the core and the periphery. It serves as a gray zone with independent capital yet is dependent on the core for much of it s infrastructure. Wallerstein identifies three means for moving from periphery to a semi periphery. The duties of a Birth Registry clerk include collecting information from new mothers at their hospital bedside and inputting the data into IVRS database. The reason I love all these things is because they all correspond with one another. Disney is where all your dreams come true, makeup is a thing that you put on to make yourself look and feel like a dream. Disney is all about crazy makeup to make people look a certain way for characters such as, villains, heroes, and damsels in distress, for you to remember them, maybe even in your dreams. Makeup is a way to define your features and make you feel more beautiful like the girls in Disney movies. Makeup only used to be for men and women to enhance their beauty. Now makeup is still used for that very same reason but it s for themselves, because they aren t trying to impress anyone but themselves. From 3000 B.C. men wore wigs and makeup to make them more eye catching. All women would use makeup to make themselves prettier and so did men. The egyptians were the first people to create cosmetics. They wore it for special occasions like festivals or celebrations. They also would put themselves at risk because of the things they were putting on there face to make them look more beautiful. • 26. Flies With Honey Guilty The critical function of drama , so Robert Brustein tell us, is to arouse the remorse of guilty creatures (382). In Flies with Honey, the underlining theme is guilt: not only Anna s compunction over potentially murdering the girl she is in love with, but also her guilt for having these feelings of love in the first place. This is intended to be portrayed not only through dialogue but having Amy, the alleged murder victim, appear as a manifestation of the protagonist s guilt. In order to present this successfully, I had to understand what it means to write of guilt feelings for the stage and how such structure can affect characters and their authenticity. I also had to explore how this medium can be realised in musical theatre. In very broad terms, there exist two types of plot: one that is driven by action, and one that is driven by characters (Alderson). Because my stageplay is only fifteen or so pages long and takes place in one location, it allowed itself to be more character based. I have been serving the Lord since 1993. I currently work as an educational therapist for a private center in Baton Rouge, Louisiana. In August of this year, Baton Rouge and the surrounding areas were partially destroyed by the Great Flood of 2016. More than 100,000 homes were flooded, and my family, along with thousands of others, has been displaced. Our home is soon to be repaired (we pray!), which is a blessing considering that many other homes received water in depths up to the ceiling rafters and cannot be repaired. Students served by our center have been displaced, with some families relocating to other states to seek shelter with extended family and friends. Yet, even with all of this devastation, I can see that the Lord has used to flood waters to wash away much of the dissention that had come to the forefront in our city. Remember, they both payed the same percentage of their income in taxes, which was 10%: person one payed $5,000, person two payed $10,000. Some people will say that this way of taxation is unfair because the $5,000 means more to person one than the $10,000 means to person two. Morals and intellect sometimes deteriorate in pursuit of this goal, as the coveted wealthy status takes precedence over the weight of virtue. Thomas Gray, in his Ode on the Death of a Favourite Cat Drowned in a Tub of Goldfishes , pokes satiric fun at the use of the ode while simultaneously constructing a cautionary moral about materialism. Crafting the story of the archetypal tragic hero, the poet idolizes the muse of his piece only to watch her collapse into the inevitable fate of her flaws. Gray s tone begins quite reverent and melodramatic, building up the beloved cat, then later shifts to a satiric and cautionary tone, warning readers against the dangers of pursuing empty wealth. Gray establishes the idolization common in an ode, taking on a reverent tone to open the piece by building upon the beauty and character of the cat. Employing imagery, the poet compares the cat and her surroundings to beauty and riches, establishing her worth and her vanity. He notes the velvet of her paws and emerald eyes , depicting the luxurious beauty of the cat and indicating that she appears expensive in all of her splendor. The use of velvet and emerald associate the feline with expensive items, increasing her worth in the reader s eyes.
