Survivor s Guilt Research Paper
Soldiers often carry this burden home survivor guilt being perhaps the kind most familiar to us. In
war, standing here rather than there can save your life, but cost a buddy his. It s flukish luck, but
you feel responsible. The guilt begins an endless loop of counterfactuals ‑ thoughts that you
could have or should do otherwise, though in fact you did nothing wrong, (War and The moral
Logic, The New York Times). Many people argue about whether survivor s guilt is necessary.
Some people think that survivors guilt is needed. Others bear that it isn t fair for the people.
Survivors of life and death situations should not undergo survivor s guilt. One cause survivors
shouldn t feel survivor s guilt is because survivor s guilt is illogical.

The Influence of Ancient Chinese Philosophies such as...
Through the whole of history s existence, religions, philosophies and personal belief systems
have been around to shape and mold life into what it is today. Religions all around the world
have their own belief systems, sometimes even more than one. And though one religion or
philosophy may develop in a specific corner of the world, there is always at least two paths they
could travel. A system can either remain personally sacred to the founders, themselves, or it may
become a popular belief to other areas in the world, be they the next town over, or the next
country. Likewise is the fact that though some areas may hold true to one specific religion, other
areas may produce several belief systems that may fancy several different groups of... Show more

Though Confucianism started out in the Chinese Dynasties, it would later come to be spread
through Korea, Japan, and Vietnam as well. And though it spread, the idea remained a solid
belief system to the Chinese people, practiced for many years to come. The leadership was
passed on from Confucius, to scholars down the line, preserved in both the minds and hearts of
its followers, but also texts such as the Analects, Mencius, and The Doctrine of the Mean. These
books held within them the beliefs, moral standards, and teachings of Confucianism itself.
Rather different from the other religions and philosophies of its time, Confucianism s belief
system was based around the idea of social order in everyday life. What Confucius believed to be
true was the simple fact that by nature, everyone is good . And so, the idea went that everyone
could maintain their goodness by learning to live with proper decorum. In order to live as such,
however, Confucius decreed Five Proper Relationships to share with one s fellow comrades. In
no particular order, the Fine Relationships where as such: father to son, older brother to younger
brother, husband to wide, ruler to subject, and friend level with friend. Of course, reversed
genders, like mother to daughter and older sister to younger sister, were also applied. The way
each relationship had been set up, is for the first person in the pair to set good examples for the
second, accept, of course, in the friend level with

All Relationships Between A Mother And A Daughter
Not all relationships between a mother and a daughter are the same, but involves human interaction.
Every mother differs in their teaching and upbringing of their children, especially their daughters.
A mother s love and compassion for her child, wants the best for her child. Sometimes, her love is
rigorous because she does not want her daughter to go through her experiences in life. Written by
Jamaica Kincaid, in Girl the motheris teaching her child to take care and defend herself. Written by
Amy Tan, in Two Kinds the mother is trying to help her daughter discover her talent. A mother
instructs her daughter to obey rules and modes of conduct in order for her to be successful. Mothers
are strict when it comes to instructing their daughters of how to build a proper identity for
themselves. On Sundays try to walk like a lady and not like a slut you are so bent on becoming;
don t sing benna in Sunday school; you mustn t speak to wharf rat boys, not even to give
directions; don t eat fruits on the streets flies will follow you (Kincaid 320). Basically, mothers
want their daughter to care about their appearance and to look clean in society. The mother does
not want her daughter s name to be spreading of how nasty she dresses in public. The girl s
mother wants her to not only look like a lady, but act as one. She wants her child to have respect
for herself and respected for others, by not singing in school. If she does what her mother tells her
to do; therefore

Essay On The Gold Rush
In early 1848, cries of gold findings flooded the West. White settlers flooded the area like a
hurricane in search of riches never seen before to the common man. It was the single greatest
migration of people in a shortest amount of time. The gold rush was a very dark period in
American history and it shouldn t be celebrated; the Native American s were slaughtered in
American thirst for gold Explosions of violence from both natives and settlers were common in this
environment of prejudice and greed. Between 1850 and 1890 eighty percent of the total number of
Native Americans in Californiadied due to murder and massacre, disease, starvation, and forced
migration from their native lands. The destruction of the culture and lives of the people native to
California and the Black Hills of South Dakota. Greed changed the morals and values of the miners
and Americans alike in the Gold Rush. The gold rush brought riches and highlighted racism of
white Americans, while systematically destroying Native Americans in that region.
To many Californians the mention of January 24, 1948, conveys no special meaning, nor is that
date widely commemorated in the state. Yet it had a special significance in the history of
California, for on that day James Marshall, a moody carpenter from Missouri, discovered the first
gold nuggets that resulted in a stampede known as the California Gold Rush. The California Gold
Rush drew in thousands of white settlers, all seeking a better life and a chance

Questions On Cadet Wing Commander
MEMORANDUM FOR RECORD
SUBJECT: How I would return Det. 775 to number 1 as Cadet Wing Commander
1. Being Cadet Wing Commander is something that I really want to do. Before coming to
Detachment 775, since coming to USC I have learned that we were once the number one small
detachment in the nation and as Cadet Wing Commander I will everything I can in order to return it
that status. In order to do this I will try to get everyone involved, I would make sure everyone is
on the same page as far as rules, goals, and information being distributed, and I would change PT
to accommodate more cadets. 2. Currently I am not as involved in the detachment as I would like
to be, but I am a very persistent person and will ensure assignments ... Show more content on

4. Changing PT in the morning to accommodate everyone:
a. There is no doubt that there is a significant skill level during PT. PT should be split at least 3 4
PT sessions a month. Meaning cadets are broken up based on their personal skill level and which
area they need the most help in. This way every cadet is being pushed to the max.
b. We all have a goal to decrease our run time and exercises such as the Indian run will push cadets
to improve their running score. Therefore, by intensifying PT as the semester continues and
completing more intense exercises, cadets will be pushed to their max and scores will improve.
c. Setting high goals will push and motivate cadets to push themselves harder than the previous PT
session. Goals such as:
(1.) If the detachment as a whole does at least 15% higher from the PFD taken in fall to the PFD
taken in spring, then the cadets will get to choose what exercises will be done for one PT session.
(2.) Cadets run time for 1.5 mile run will decrease by 30 seconds from the beginning of the
semester to the end of the semester.
(3.) Cadets will be able to increase their personal push up amount done in one minuet by at least
five push ups by the end of the semester, unless they have maxed the number of pushups required
for the standardized PT test.

Witchcraft In Early Modern Europe
The notion of witchcraft has been around long before the witch trials in Early Modern Europe.
Different cultures have different images and stereotypes on what a witch is and what magical
abilities he or she may possess. Many people however, did not look at these magical men and
women as bad until the Holy Roman Empire began to look negatively on those people who were
different, and opposed the norm set by the elites. Driven by fear, those living under the control of
the Holy Roman Empire would began to blame other people for diabolical actions, or malicious
activities. Women and some men, were tortured and tested in cruel ways in attempt of finding
evidence or gaining a confession that the accused was a witch. Laws about how which were

Before the English Civil War began, the legal system included justices, judges, magistrates, and
lawyers. King James I, according to author Malcolm Gaskill in his works Witchcraft and Evidence
in Early Modern England, had a great influence in the court systems. Before the English Civil
War, the witch trials were broken up in two parts. The first being that a Justice of the Peace
would examine the accused, then the second was an actual trial would occur. In those trials
according to Gaskill, English trials followed common law principles: lay jurors had to be
persuaded by lay witnesses. Many trials during this time period demanded more solid proof before
the accused could be convicted. Gaskill, also writes that the court systems prior to the Hopkins
witch trials, people began to question intangible evidence coming from the accusers and the
witnesses. This shows that before the English Civil War, the courts where yes, being tried for
witchcraft, but the courts were also demanding solid evidence against the accused person. During
the late sixteenth century and early years of the seventeenth century, many trials were being

Formal Apology To All My Childhood Babysitters
In the A Formal Apology to all my Childhood Babysitters by Madison Linnihan, I thought it was
a cute and funny letter to her former childhood babysitters. The kids described in this letter are
very funny and seem to be full of life. There was this one particular part of the letter that I really
enjoyed, it was the part with that one babysitter, who got blue paint on her face before her date
with a track guy. To relate to this event, One time I played with this chalk paint with my
babysitter and accidentally got paint on her face. I clearly remember feeling really bad about
getting paint on her that I almost cried. Another part that I adored was game on the monkey bars.
As I was reading this part I felt so bad for the babysitter, and it probably

We all know him as genius especially in areas of physics. However the truth is, before Einstein
became the genius that we know of, he was entirely the opposite. Einstein was unable to speak
fluently until he was 12 years old. Einstein had a terrible reputation as a student. He skipped
class, and his professors never took him seriously. Moreover, Einstein never performed
spectacular in school. He did so poorly that he nearly decided to drop out. After graduating,
Einstein had to work many odd jobs to sustain himself. Einstein s father died believing he was a
complete failure. Eventually, he found legitimate employment as a patent clerk. Every day, he
would sit down, review patents, and analyze mathematical equations . And Einstein loved it
.Einstein s work transformed the way physicists thought about light, gravity, and space. More
famously, he argued light can bend. Of course, physicists thought he was crazy. But long story
short, with unstoppable perseverance and an iron will Einstein eventually proves the scientific
community wrong. His work revolutionized how scientists perceive space, time, gravity and light.

Victimization In The Millennium Trilogy
The Interrelation of Corruption and Victimization in The Millennium Trilogy
Stieg Larsson s acclaimed crime fiction book series, The Millennium Trilogy, is not only
remarkable for its thrilling plot, but also for Larsson s adroit ability to provide perceptive social,
economical, and political commentary. This essay will concentrate on Larsson s commentary
regarding the corruption of the socio political system and how it relates to victimization. In order to
best illustrate this thesis, I shall analyze these themes in Larsson s second novel in the series, The
Girl Who Played with Fire, and with references to his first novel, The Girl with The Dragon Tattoo.
In the following exploration, one will see Bo Tao Michäels The Ten Commandments... Show

This almost conflicts directly to a majority of Larsson s Millennium Trilogy. In The Girl with the
Dragon Tattoo, there are many signs of corruption from Hans Erik Wennerström s illegal
industries to the Vanger corporation covering up Martin and Gottfried s murders. Larsson
continues this motif as well in The Girl Who Played with Fire. It is the corruption of the
Swedish government and the police that allows Zara to rape and abuse Salander s mother,
allows Zara to stay out of prison for his crimes, and forces Salander to a psychiatric ward. It is
the corruption of the guardianship system for psychiatrics that allows Salander to be raped by
Bjurman and to be held hostage by the law. Furthermore, it is the leaders of society, the prominent
social, economic, and political upper crust of Sweden, that are subject to investigation for sex
slavery by Dag and Mia. It would not be unreasonable to state that corruption exists at every level.
Moreover, this corrupted system is truly the creator behind all of Salander s psychiatric problems. If
the Swedish system was free of corruption, as suggested in The Ten Commandments, then one could
argue that Salander s mental and physical health would drastically

The Causes And Effects Of Stress In High School Students
Every year, over 1.2 million students drop out of high school in the United States alone. Stress is
the most important factor in why students give up on school. Being a recent graduate from high
school, I clearly understand exactly how the many components of high school can be stressful.
There are many causes and effects of stress on young high schoolstudents. The homework load on
students can cause stress, Time management is a factor if stress, and Peer pressure is a big cause
of stress for high school students. The stress on students in high school can greatly affecttheir
academic performance, it will eventually affect their attitude, and it s going to have a great effecton
their mental and physical health. In the next few paragraphs, I will be explaining the causes of
stress on high school students.
Among many students in High school, the homework load is a cause of stress. According to the
National Association of Education, a student should be assigned no more than 10 minutes of
homework per grade level per night. Meaning a 1st grader should only have 10 minutes of
homework while a 12th grader has 120 minutes of homework each night. On average, high school
students are required to take 7 9 classes sometimes daily per week. The amount of homework given
to these students sometimes doubles or even triples the recommended amount of homework.
A student s time management can cause stress. Deadlines are the things that motivate us to get
things done. But so many deadlines

The Swot Analysis And Summaries Of The SWOT Analysis
Section 2: SWOT Analysis
The theory of the SWOT analyses
The SWOT analysis aims to provide a short overview of a business s current strategic situation by
analyzing its internal factors, being strengths and weaknesses, alongside its external factors that
might have an impact on the businesses strategic choices, being the entity s opportunities and
threats (Anja Böhm, 2009: 1). The SWOT analysis is ultimately a tool which is used to analyze a
business s current situation in the market place and aims to identify a strategy for successful
development using the overlap between the internal and external factors. The acronym SWOT
simply stands for strengths, weaknesses, opportunities and threats (Nadine Pahl Anne Richter,
2009: 27).
Strengths ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
One of the major limitations is that it doesn t offer any end solutions to develop a business s
strategic plans, but rather forms part of the process, as depicted in the above Diagram 1. It only
acts as a tool to help a business with their strategic decisions, and cannot produce the final
decision by itself. A full SWOT analysis often ends up producing long extensive lists of the
strengths, weaknesses, opportunities and threats which are not arranged in any particular way that
could reflect priorities. It does not rank the factors by importance. This can be a problem because
some effects of certain threats/weaknesses can be more serious and harmful to the businesses
competitive advantage than others but the SWOT analysis does not make this clear. It doesn t
highlight or single out any of the more important strengths and opportunities and this can
sometimes lead to favorable opportunities being lost among other mediocre ones. One of the
problems that often arises when conducting a SWOT analysis is that the same factor could be
placed in two different categories. This problem of ambiguity can cause disputes and confusion. An
example of this would be locating a retail store on the high upmarket streets of a big city. This is a
strength as it puts the store out there to lots of potential customers, but the weakness to this is that
it would have very high

the examples for the Free speech rights and its protection in case of use and distribution of
Terroristic Messages . Finally, This topic is up to date and is one of the hottest topics on
political, social and even financial stage not only withing the US but worldwide, due to the
Islamic terrorism spread. This topic is crucial to understand the basis of terrorism and related
possible charges, for someone who is not aware of Terroristic Messages charges. It may help to
understand, that terroristic speech is not protected under the First Amendment, and in particular
that to be considered as Terroristic Messages , the message might not only be verbal, but
symbolic, or as a support for terrorists ( financial, moral, distributed in any type of medias). One
can be considered as a terrorist supporter, without even ever meeting terrorists and speaking with

1) Since the injured plaintiff was not wearing a seatbelt, why is Ford being sued for failing to
test the seatbelt sleeve? In the case of Branham v. Ford Motor Co., the Plaintiff brought the case
against Hale, the driver, and Ford because the company failed to test the seat belt sleeve, even
though he did not seriously pursue the claim against Hale (Reed, Pagnattaro, Cahoy, Shedd
Morehead, 2012). The case against Ford was based on two product liability claims: one for not
testing the seat belt and the other a design defect claim related to the vehicles tendency to rollover

Ford s reasoning for dismissal of the negligence claim was that since Branham did not prove the
seat belt sleeve was in a defective condition unreasonably dangerous to its user meant that it should
have been dismissed as well. The court s decision to judge on the handling and stability design
defect claim portion (Reed, Pagnattaro, Cahoy, Shedd Morehead, 2012), this is true. 3) Is the
consumer expectations test or the risk utility test more favorable to manufacturers? Explain. In
Branham v. Ford Motors Co., the risk utility test is more favorable to the manufacturer. The
consumer expectations test is difficult to predict from a manufacturer s perspective because it is
vague (Tracy 2010). Under the risk utility test, a product is unreasonably dangerous and defective if
the danger associated with the use of the product outweighs the utility of the product (Reed,
Pagnattaro, Cahoy, Shedd Morehead, 2012). The consumer expectations test is used to determine
whether the product is negligently manufactured or whether a warning on the product is defective.
The courts noted that the consumer expectations test was best suited for

Irony In The Importance Of Being Earnest
Many dramas are told in a specific way in order to make a point. Being written as a comedy, The
Importance of Being Earnest by Oscar Wilde adheres the idea that drama should never teach but
only entertain. The play ridicules the two protagonists Algernon Moncrieff and John Worthing who
carry a double life. They liein order to have everything they want, and also to be able to conquer the
women they love. John with his desire to marry Gwendolen Fairfax faces the difficulty of
achieving her mother s consent, and most important has to deal with the trouble his lies has caused.
Same situation applies to Algernon who wants to marry Cecily Cardew, and who faces the
difficulty of confronting the truth about who he really is. The play is mostly amusing... Show more

The Importance of Being Earnest as being the title of the play, literally can mean the importance
of being honest and sincere. As john has been telling that he has a younger brother of the name

him. Although what he doesn t expect to discover in the end that his real true name is really
Ernest, meaning that he was telling nothing but the truth all along. He has lied about being
Ernest in order to run away from the seriousness, but most important he has lied about to conquer
Gwendolen. She has always wished to marry a man called Ernest, and when John finds out that
his birth mother is Miss Prism and that his name is actually Ernest, Gwendolen says Ernest! My

Invasion Of The Body Snatchers Essay
Don Seigel s 1956 film Invasion of the Body Snatchers shook many viewers with its brutal
imagery of an invasion, a take over, that was almost impossible to differentiate from the normal
behavior of society at that time. Neighbors would be completely normal one day, go to sleep, and
wake up where everything else is the same, but not the feeling that those close to them had come
to recognize. Wilma, a desperately worried niece of a recently Snatched citizen, can feel the
difference all too well in her familymembers. The film was able to terrorize the hearts of so many
watchers due to its ability to hit so close to the situation many of them were experiencing at that
time. The 1950 s were rife with social and political changes, from changes in rights to changes in
the political ring of the world. Communism, for example, seemed to be invading the minds of
friends and neighbors alike all across the country from the views of American citizens. In fact, it

Sociological Explanations Of Deviance Essay
Macionis and Plummer (2008), state that deviance involves the recognised violation of cultural
norms . Societies are layered by norms which guide virtually all human activities and deviance is
the violation of these norms . Haralambos and Holborn (2008) give a similar definition and state
that deviance consists of those acts which do not follow the norms and expectations of a
particular social group. The violation of norms is, in fact, universal to all definitions of deviance.
Norms provide guidance as to what type of behaviour is considered proper in particular situations
(Haralambos and Holborn, 2008). There are many types of norms for every situation; there are
religious norms, health norms and certainly school norms. Rules are some of the most important
norms for which formal sanctions are taken when these are broken. Sociological explanations of
deviance try to explain the causes of deviance by looking at the society and how it may lead
individual to adopt particular form of behaviour. The theories outlined here relate deviance either to
social class, subcultures within school or to the effect resulting from meaning that students give to
school experience, a theory usually favoured by interpretivist sociologists. 2.1.1 Social class,

Historical Elements Of Magical Realism
Magical realism combines cultural and historical realities with magic to create a normal yet
magical setting in a story.Magical realism can include aspects of the mundane and even
metamorphosis can be seen throughout stories of magical realism. It is important to know the
different aspects magical realism attains. These attributes are expressed throughout the stories,
Bless Me, Ultima, A Very Old Man With Enormous Wings , and The Handsomest Drowned Man
in The World Many magical realism stories contain elements of historical and cultural realities
interwoven with magical details. These cultural and historical elements is what makes the story
feel real. In Bless Me, Ultima cultural and historical realities are present throughout the story, in
chapter seven these realities are present as the book quotes, Finally the war was over. At school
the teachers gathered in the hall and talked excitedly, and some hugged each other. Our Miss

they had gone to war together. This quote is an example of historical reality, as the war in the

Plagiarism And The Consequences Of Plagiarism
In this paper we will cover plagiarism. We will cover a brief history of plagiarism and look at the
different types of plagiarism, as well as compare and contrast the different types. We will also
look at who is most prone to plagiarize and why. We will also discuss the role plagiarism plays in
academia and the consequences to plagiarizing. Webster s online Dictionary defines plagiarismas to
steal and pass off (the ideas or words of another) as one s own: use (another s production) without
crediting the source [... or] to commit literary theft: present as new and original an idea or
product derived from an existing source. Many people believe that plagiarism is a relatively
new concept that came about as technology became more and more accessible, however this is
not the case. It is said that Shakespeare s plays are not his own work. Shakespeare traveled to
different regions and heard folk tales and stories from the people that lived in these areas and
wrote down what the people were saying and wrote it in play form. He tweaked the stories so
that they may be relatable to the English men and women that would attend his plays. Even
though Shakespeare s works are not his own, he is one of, if not the most recognized playwright
in the history of play writers. According to Turnitin.com there are 10 different types of plagiarism.

Family level risk factors are parental rejection and neglect. Inconsistent child rearing practices or
punitive discipline can also play a part. Physical and sexual abuse may cause the onset of
conduct disorder. Lack of supervision, multiple changes in caregivers, and institutional learning
also may lead to the development of conduct disorder. Large family sizes as well as parental
crime records are high risk factors for conduct disorder. Conduct disorder can develop due to
family psychopathology, for example substance related disorders. The community can play a part
in the development of conduct disorder too and includes peer rejection or a delinquent peer group.
Conduct disorder can develop by neighborhood exposure to violence too. Community and family
risk factors affect individuals who have the childhood onset type of conduct

How Is Iago Presented In Othello
What is it about how Iago is characterized in the play Othello and how he acts that makes him
such a vivid villain, even today? We still use the expression an Iago to describe someone evil and
underhanded. Iago is characterized in the play Othello by William Shakespeare as a vivid villain
because he manipulates the other main characters. Iagocontains so much jealousy and hatred against
Othellofor being a general in the army, a position he feels in righteously his that he victimizes
everyone around him. He is mad at Othello for he granted Cassio as his lieutenant instead of him,
this affects his pride, forsooth a great arithmetician one Michael Cassio, a Florentine (Meyer,
2017, pp. 1072). Iago is mad at Othello for choosing Cassio over him; he is already upset that
Othello receives a promotion to general instead of him, to Iago he has battled wars and proves
himself worthy of such a title.
Jealousy fumigates this anger, and Iago turns into a villain in the play he needs to seek revenge
against Othello and Cassio he uses other characters in the play to his advantage to seek his
revenge and feed his jealousy. Iago uses Roderigo, a gulled gentleman that is in love with
Desdemona to help him take down Othello and Cassio. He manipulates Roderigo using his lust
against him and tells him to give Desdemona gifts of jewels to win her over, yet Iago keeps these
treasures for himself to build his purse. Iago manipulates Roderigo to believe that if he will
listen to him and do as he says that he will gain Desdemona s love in the end. The jewels you
have had from me to deliver to Desdemona would half have corrupted a votarist (Meyers, 2017,
pp.1136).
Furthermore, Iago uses Cassio s loyalty and commitment to Othello to his advantage. He wants to
destroy not only Othello and Cassio, but he also wants to end their bond together. Iago convinces
Cassio to go against his better judgment and drink with him, But one cup! I ll drink for you
(Meyers, 2017, pp. 1097). Iago causes Cassio to get drunk and get into a fight with Montano, and
this leads to Othello firing him from his duty and promoting Iago as his lieutenant. Iago uses the
falling bond of Othello and Cassio to his advantage and again manipulates to gain

Samoan Restaurants In Australia
Australian cuisine over the years has evolved as other cultures have brought their cultural foods and
cooking techniques as well as allowed other cultures to create their own restaurants. With all of
these different cultures one has the most original style of cooking, the Samoan, which the way they
cook their foodis using one of the oldest styles of cookingin which is the Earth Oven . The earth
oven has been around for over 500 years and still gets used today, it is broken down into rocks,
grass, broken branches and soil which all is burnt with the food inside until its cooked.
Samoan restaurants are hard to find because of the fire restrictions but some manage to use
modern style cooking with the Samoan ingredients. The only problem for those who live in

The State Children s Health Insurance Program (SCHIP) was initiated in response to the plight
of uninsured children, who were estimated to number 10.1 million (nearly one quarter of all

poverty level. The poverty level is a key player in fixing the US health care system (Singh Shi,
2008, p. 219).
Secondly, the United States has en employer based financing system. In most states, employers are
not mandated to offer health insurance to their employees; therefore, some employers, due to
economic constraints, do not offer it. Economic constraints are also a major problem that must be
dealt with. If we started by introducing a bill that mandates employers to offer health insurance, we
could decrease the number of insured. Although many working class Americans cannot afford to
get an insurance policy, the benefit is that employees get group rates through their employer. The
group rates are generally lower than what the rates would be if the employees were to purchase
health insurance on their own (Singh Shi, 2008, p. 8).

Clinical Psychology And The Qualifications
Clinical Psychology
Introduction
George Bernard Shaw once wrote: There are two tragedies in life. One is to lose your life s desire,
the other is to gain it. ( The Tide That Never Came Back ). My one goal in life is to make others
happy. To make someone feel wanted. To feel mattered. I chose my career when I was very young.
I chose to be a Clinical Psychologist. I was eight years old when I met my counselor. Her name was
Candy. She was the one person I could trust. I would be so honored to be somebody s one person .

Qimonda AG, a German semiconductor manufacturer, had patent cross licenses with many of its
competitors. Such licenses, in industries like electronics, allow parties in effect to have a truce with
respect to patents, so that they may proceed their respective businesses. Qimonda file bankruptcy
and ceased operations, so no longer needed the protection of the cross licenses. Rather, it terminated
the licenses under German bankruptcy law, to replace them with licenses under which it would
receive royalty payments. Qimonda filed a chapter 15 bankruptcy proceeding in the United States,
to do the same with its American licenses. The representative committed to re license Qimonda s
patent portfolio to the Licensees at a reasonable and nondiscriminatory ( RAND ) royalty.
However, the American courts held that US bankruptcy law did not allow licenses. Chapter 15 of
the Bankruptcy Code allows the representative of a foreign bankruptcy proceeding to file an
ancillary proceeding in the United States. It also allows broad recognition of orders entered in the
foreign bankruptcy proceeding. But the recognition is subject to certain safeguards. The US
bankruptcy court may refuse to apply the foreign order if the action would be manifestly contrary to
the public policy of the United States. In addition, the court must ensure that the interests of the
creditors and other interested entities, including the debtor, are sufficiently protected.

The Importance Of Writing Badly By Bruce Ballenger
The Importance of Writing Badly was written by Bruce Ballenger. His intended audience are
students who are victims of strict English teachers as well as the strict English teachers,
themselves. In his essay, Ballenger portrays that students are more focused on being
grammatically correct than the message in their essays. This is because of teachers who grade
strictly on grammar errors and punctuation. Ballenger says, A colleague of mine, an Ivy League
graduate, is among the self appointed grammar police, complaining often about the dumb
mistakes his students make in their papers. I don t remember him ever talking about what his
students are trying to say in those papers. (Page 74). Bruce Ballenger has effectively argued and
persuaded his intended audience with his use of ethos, pathos, and logos. Ballenger has a huge
credibility. He is an English professor at a university. Ballenger must grade his own students
essays, which helps build his reputation; also, he has gone through experiences where teachers
graded his essays only on his errors. Ballenger tells how he had a teacher back in grade school
named Mrs. O Neill; his teacher would not be patient when it came to an incorrect sentence. (Page
73). He understands why his students are stricken with fear when it comes to trying to get their
essays perfect for their teacher. Ballenger said, Many of my students come to me similarly
voiceless, dreading the first writingassignment because they mistakenly believe that how

The Postal System As A Method Of Communication
There are three separate theories available which can be identified that could be used to confirm
that an enforceable agreement has been reached between parties using the postal system as a
method of communication. These are, the information theory, whereby the offeror notifies the
offeree that the letter of acceptance has been received. The receipt theory, which assumes a
contract has been created on the receipt of a letter of acceptance and the dispatch theory, known
also as the postal rule which confirms that a contract has been entered into at the point in time that
the letter of acceptance is posted. Clearly, it is essential that when contracts are created using the
postal system as a means of communication it must possible to determine at what point the
agreement becomes legally enforceable. When using the postal system there is an inevitable risk
that communications could be lost or delayed which, but for the postal rule would create
uncertainty for the party who is providing acceptance of the offer. Therefore, unless the offeror
had prescribed a specific or alternative method of communication it is the dispatch theory that is
applied in English contract law regarding the acceptance of agreements that are made using the
postal system, this confirms certainty in the mind of the offeree. This rule became established in
English contract law as the result of the decision made in Adams v Lindsell (1818) 106 ER 250.
This was subsequently confirmed in The

Goodnight Moon By Margaret Wise Brown
The author of my book is Margaret Wise Brown. She wrote the book Goodnight Moon. This
book was published September 3, 1947 about two years after World War Two ended. After World
War Two many wives were widowed and many children were fatherless. The book Goodnight
Moon was labeled as Contemporary Realistic Fiction, meaning it was believable and set in the
modern world. Margaret Wise Brownconstantly experimented with writing children s literature.
She tried new things that many other authors did not try. For example, she tried making her
books more relatable and more like a child was living in a fantasy. What kept her motivated was
trying to keep her target audience of children hoping and to never give up on that hope, in her
own words she says to write a book simple enough ... to lift the child for a few moments from his
own problems of shoelaces that won t tie and busy parents ... into the timeless world of story.
which is believed to be her motivator. While looking for the deeper meaning or message I realized
this books message was death and the loss or absence of a parent.
The book Goodnight Moon takes both children and adults away from the real world. This helps
the readers understand her style of writing and children s literature. Goodnight Moon had a huge
social impact because of how it connected with its readers. It took kids and adults away from their
problems and took them to a world where everything seemed as if it was perfect. The idea of a
perfect world seems

The Difference Between The Art Of Picasso And Braque
Modernist Assault:
1. We know that experts had trouble being able to tell the difference between the works of Picasso
and Braque. Defend whether or not this made each artist s work any less original.
It does not make their art any less original. Originality is about creativity and innovation. While
their work was similar, it was the only of it s kind at the time. They pioneered the path of cubism
side by side. I would not consider this to be unoriginal, but a tandem effort to make their own art.
Surely, they challenged one another which pushed their art to new heights. I don t think cubism
would be what it is today without both artists, as they were at the forefront of creating new art
during that period.
2. Filippo Tommaso Marinetticlaimed that the motor car was more beautiful than the marble statue

I can understand Marinetti s claim that the motor car was more beautiful than the marble statue of
the winged Nike. However, I don t agree with his claim. The motor car is an ingenious creation
that required great minds to create, but the question is about beauty. Marble statues bent to the will
of man are truly beautiful to me. The statue of Nike is one of my favorites. The way the clothing
flows as you can see the tension on the skin makes it far more beautiful to me than a car. Finally,
there is something about taking one block of marble, and making it into what they envisioned.

The Role of Music in Forming and Transforming Identities
Write an essay of 2,500 words on the following topic: With reference to two contrasting musical
forms and cultural traditions, discuss the role of music in forming and transforming identities.
Introduction This essay will explore the role of music with regards to the formation and
transformation of identities within the emosubculture contrasting it to the dance music tradition.
The subculture of emo music engulfed many young adults of today s generation including myself
and those who were drawn to its spectrum and their affiliation to the music will allow for an in
depth analysis of points made by scholars which will allow me to contrast the emo subculture to
that of dance music. Dance music has become increasingly popular in the current popular music
scene and it offers a distinct contrast to emo music. Therefore, this provides a genuine contrast that
can be anaylsed and by exploring the contrasting features of these two music forms and their
cultural traditions, it will be possible to conclude the role of music in how it forms and transforms
identities today.
Before delving into the meaning of emo I will first explore the definitions of culture and in
particular, youth subculture, to which emo is linked with. A culture as Stuart Hall describes is a
way in which groups of people handle the raw material of their social and material existence and
also notes Marx in saying that culture is the practice of realising group life in meaningful shape

The Role Of Quentin Tarantino In Pulp Fiction
Today in an era of action movies with tons of CGI explosions and simple cheesy dialogue, there
are very few directors who have their own signature style of filmmaking. Quentin Tarantino is one
of the world s most known directors. Each of his films is highly anticipated, as he draws upon the
subjects and themes of previous films to produce a fresh storyline (Quentin Tarantino: The
Cinematic Mastermind of the Mix and Match Genre Theculturetrip.com). His films are in my
opinion, some of the best made in the past 20 years. Many say his movies are so one of a kind that
you can argue that Tarantino has his own sub genre.
One reason why Quentin Tarantino is so respected and considered to be one of a kind is because
he is one of the few most ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
All of his films are related to each other, set in the same universe. Fun fact: Mr. Blonde AKA Vic
Vega, the cold blooded murdering criminal from Reservoir Dogs is the brother of Marcellus
Wallace s business associate Vincent Vega from pulp fiction. Another Tarantino Easter egg is in
Pulp Fiction when Vincent Vega Takes Mia Wallace, played by Uma Thurman, out to dinner she
describes the plot of a pilot she starred in. The character she played was described as the deadliest
woman in the world with a knife; this is also the character summary of the Bride in Kill Bill who
is also played by Thurman. I also shouldn t forget to mention that Lee Donowitz from True
Romance, a film written by Tarantino, is the son of Donnie Donowitz, the Jewish American
soldier known as The Bear Jew and is highly feared by German soldiers. I will also mention that
The Hateful 8 was originally supposed to be a Post Civil War sequel to Django Unchained, but that
never happened. There are no coincidences in Tarantino s movies. Few directors have such an
obsession with hiding homages to other films, plot clues, and Easter eggs into their movies. In an
interview with The Project, Tarantino stated There s the realer than real universe, alright, and all
the characters inhabit that one. But then there s this movie universe. And so From Dusk Till Dawn,
Kill Bill, they all take

I Am A Car Insurance
In November 2008 I was on my way to get car insurance, when in an instant my life had changed. It
was that day that I vowed never to drive without insurance ever again.
At this time my license was suspended due to the fact that I had an accident earlier in the year
and didn t have proof of insurance. That morning I woke up frustrated because I had two weeks of
maternity leave left, then I would be returning back to work, and I still didn t have car insurance. I
just made up in my mind that I didn t care how much It ll cost I have to get this car insured. I
called a couple of places to get a quote, finally I found an insurance company that was reasonably
priced. The agent however wanted me to come in to sign papers. My husband Jonathan was at
work Hello he said Hey babe really quick I found a really good quote for car insurance, but they
want me to come in to sign papers I said Indiah call mom and have her take you there Babe it s
right up the street I ll be there and back in no time. Your mom doesn t have to come all of the
way from Rancho to Riverside to take me up the street, I ll be fine. Jonathan wasn t buying my
sales pitch but he didn t have time to argue. Indiah I have to go back to work, I love you please be
safe . I love to too I ll call you when I get there. I understood that Jonathan didn t want to risk the
possibility of someone hitting me or vice versa. He was concerned since I was just involved in an
accident 11 months prior. But I had to be

Environmental Issues Of Ocean Pollution
Environmental issues such as ocean pollution is caused by the careless acts of humans. Ocean
Pollution is a serious environmental issue that is slowly killing our largest water source and many
innocent sea creatures. Some things we will be looking over is the causes and effects as well as
the way it is severely killing and destroying not only marine life, but their homes.
One of the biggest sources of pollution is called nonpoint source pollution, which occurs as a
result of runoff. (What Is the Biggest Source of Pollution in the Ocean? From NOAA, 2016) These
are from things like septic tanks, sewers, littering, or automobiles. When we think of pollution, we
think of wrappers or plastic pieces that were carelessly thrown into the wild, ... Show more content

A big issue within all of the plastic in the ocean is the BPA inside. BPA is an organic pollutant
and not healthy for our environment. BPA is found in a lot of plastic and kills marine life as it
disintegrates in the waters. (Pyrek, C. (n.d.). Plastic Paradise (1st ed., Vol. 28). Retrieved
November 9, 2017.)
When it comes to ocean pollution, it doesn t only affect our beaches, but it also affects the sea
animals. In Figure 1, you can see an innocent seahorse wrapping their tale around a q tip. The
seahorse in Hofman s photo is just one example of how marine animals interact with plastic
debris. (How a Photographer Snapped This Tragic Photo of a Seahorse Lugging a Q Tip. The
Verge, The Verge, 15 Sept. 2017) This seahorse now does not know that the debris isn t okay or
out of the usual, but just adapted it as their everyday life because the plastic levels in the sea is
increasing massively year by year. Human waste is taking over the sea and this photo proves just
that.
The garbage patch is full of trash that is from runoff or trash left by careless fisherman. In the
documentary Plastic Paradise, Angela Sun discusses how fisherman leave fishing nets in the ocean.
If they get trapped or dirty, typically the fisherman s easy way out is to throw it into the ocean and
forget about it. While floating around in the ocean, the nets eventually get picked up by ocean
currents and

Methodology, Metrics and Measures for Testing and Evaluation of an Integrated Sensor
Architecture 1. Introduction {NEED ISA BACKGROUND/MISSION CONTENT} ISA is one
element within an active area of research in the design and development of tools to improve the
situational awareness of military commanders involved in battlefield operations. Evaluating the
effectiveness of tools proposed for introduction into the battlespace requires the use of realistic
command tasks and an appropriate research methodology that controls for task difficulty. Typical
evaluations, if they occur at all, frequently do not employ proper experimental (or quasi
experimental) methodology and address only qualitative elements of evaluation (e.g. user ratings).

2. Objective The objectives of this report are to: Present possible research methodologies and
designs that may be applied to support ongoing analysis and evaluation of ISA tools and
products. Present concepts and describe factors to be considered in developing a useful set of
task difficulty considerations to support evaluation and testing of ISA tools. Propose an initial set
of behavioral, task based performance measures that are focused on specific areas of performance
that ISA is designed to impact. 3. Research Methodology 3.1 Overview Concerns about research
methodology relate to the constraints of testing ISA tools and products in real world settings. It is
challenging to design and carry out a controlled experiment with rigorous experimental and control
groups. Therefore, evaluation validity is put at risk by factors such as: Are selected tasks

Abstract
The goal of this essay is to focus on theory and implementation of the Balanced Scorecard system.
Because of the structured generic approach of the methodology, the Balanced Scorecard has gained
its popularity as means of evaluating performance and reporting quantitative performance results.
The balanced scorecard is a strategic planning and management system that is used extensively in
business and industry, government, and nonprofit organizations worldwide to align business
activities to the vision and strategy of the organization, improve internal and external
communications, and monitor organization performance against strategic goals (The Balanced
Scorecard Institute, 2014). The Balanced Scorecard is the most prevalent and adopted of the several
strategic performance tools since the early 1990s. In addition, the derivatives of the Balanced
Scorecard such as Performance Prism and Results Based Management have also gained prominence
in the field of strategic performance management and improvement. The Balanced Scorecard
commenced as a performance management tool that incorporated strategic non financial
performance measures to the conventional financial indicators in order to provide managers and
company executives with a somewhat balanced view of the aspect of organizational performance.

Ethical Theories Of Normative Ethics
Over the last couple of weeks in Philosophy 103, we learned five theories concerning normative
ethics: utilitarianism, duty ethics, virtue ethics, care ethics, and natural law ethics. While learning
about those theories, I often thought about how the arguments for some theories included
interesting ideas that I personally agreed with, but the methods of reasoning were somewhat
lacking. Contrastingly, I encountered theories with arguments that were not thought provoking
ideas at first, but I became acclimated to them due to the logical and well thought out
methodologies. In this essay, I will argue for my own normative ethical theory; an act is right if it
is virtuous and conductive towards relationships with other people and wrong if it is... Show more

A person who practices virtue attempts to live a well balanced and stable life. While I recognize
Aristotle s argument, the argument itself presents people as isolated human beings who try to be
virtuous, or at least attempt to, with no consideration of how our interactions with others affect us
and, therefore, affect what is considered right and wrong.
The lack of reflection on how interpersonal relationships affect morality is where Virginia Held s
view completes my normative ethical theory. Her view of care ethics establishes the importance of
relationships with others, as people depend on one another to some capacity. Virginia Held declares
that an act is right if it nurtures a relationship and wrong if it does not. What is significant about
Held s methodology is that it considers the feminine perspective of caring for someone, which many
philosophers did not consider when making their arguments. The importance of interpersonal
relationships in care ethics is something that is certainly applicable to this day and age. With new
technology and globalization, our capacity to interact with others has greatly increased, and to
dismiss our connectedness while making a normative ethical theory in the modern era would be
irrational. Aristotle s virtue ethics and care ethics could then be

Ben looked out of the vehicle s window. He was the alpha tester of the Newton, a machine that

time. Mr. Pach had stated something about maximum velocity and other mathematical terms
that Ben did not understand. The only part that Ben could mentally comprehend was the vehicle
had to reach 42 miles per hour, and had to face wind that blew at least 120 miles per hour, or the
car would explode. However though, with Mr. Pach s quirky nature, the odds of a completely
ordinary trip were next to zero. As the spherical car rolled to the acme of the mountain, Ben
began to imagine creative ways for them to have a gale that blew at 120 MPH. Mr. Pach slowly
drove the sphere over the peak, expectantly, Ben waited for rockets to shoot out and see the world

Beyond Bumper Sticker Ethics Summary
Steve Wilkens presents the ethical dilemma of stealing in chapter 7 It s Your Duty, Kantian Ethics
in his book Beyond Bumper Sticker Ethics. Wilkens concludes that Kant s ethical system is made
up on the grounds of reason, stating that all rational things should be accepted universally. The
rational statement, stealing is wrong and must be outlawed, should be accepted universally.
Additionally, the rational statements, that man should obey the laws of the land, protect the land,
protect his family, protect his property and serve his community, because it is his ethical duty , as
stated by Immanuel Kant, should be universally acceptable. These statements above are indeed
rational and should be universally accepted. With the rationality and universal acceptance, these
statements would be considered ethical laws in Kant s perspective.... Show more content on

threatening to destroy property, steal property, and kill countrymen and/or ones family, uttering

these events to unfold, because of ones duty, not to steal. After all, the gun is the gunman s

President Gerald R. Ford
Introduction
Gerald Rudolph Ford Jr. was the 38th President of the United States. Born in Omaha, Nebraska,
Ford went from being a son of divorcees to the leader of a nation.
Childhood
Gerald Ford was born on July 14th, 1913 in Omaha, Nebraska. His birth name was Leslie Lynch
King Jr., after his father. Ford s mother, Dorothy Ayer Gardner King, left King roughly two weeks
after his birth. Oddly enough, Ford did not know about his biological father until he was 17.
Dorothy then moved with her son to Grand Rapids, Michigan. In 1916, she married a paint
salesman named Gerald Rudolph Ford, who adopted her son. Leslie Lynch King Jr. was then

Ford did not die an unaccomplished man. Even in his early years, the man achieved many things. In
high school, Ford was a member of the honor society and both the All City and All State football
teams. Even before his presidency, the man was involved in politics. This started in 1940, when
he participated in Wendell Willkie s presidential campaign. Later, Ford and fraternity brother
from the University of Michigan, Philip A. Buchen, set up a law partnership in the place he
grew up: Grand Rapids, Michigan. During World War II, Ford joined the Navy, serving in the
South Pacific and holding the rank of lieutenant commander. In 1948, Ford became a member of
Congress, which he was a part of for 25 years. Later on, in 1965, he served the role of House
minority leader. Even after his presidency, Ford was active in politics. He went to hundreds of
colleges and universities to speak about issues such as foreign policy, Congressional relations,
and federal budget policies. In 1979, Ford released a memoir called A Time to Heal: The
Autobiography of Gerald R. Ford. In 1981, the Gerald R. Ford Library and the Gerald R. Ford
Museum were dedicated. Ford went to conferences at both of these places and would discuss
various political subjects such as German reunification, relations with the Soviet Union, and
national security. One year later, Ford established the AEI World Forum. This was a gathering of
prominent world leaders and business executives to discuss issues impacted by political and

History of the Propeller
The aircraft propeller looks like a simple mechanism to the uneducated individual. To the educated,
an aircraft propeller represents the highest sophistication in aerodynamics, mechanical engineering
and structural design. This report will touch on the history of the propeller, from early pioneers
/experiments, advancement during/after the war, all the way up to current applications of the
propeller.
The creation of the propeller can be traced back to Leonardo da Vinci. Da Vinci s helical screw
helicopter is believed to be the ancestor of the air propeller and the helicopter rotor. The first idea
of a propulsive airscrew, however, belongs to J.P. Paucton, a French mathematician. Paucton
envisioned a flying machine that had two ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
This dilemma made designing the propeller one of the Wright brothers most challenging problems.
Despite the lack of previous information to consult, the brothers were able to learn, through
investigation and trial/error, that large propeller diameters would produce high thrust for a given
power input. The brothers also determined that high torque produced by large, slow turning blades
adversely affected the flying qualities (p factor). On their first aircraft, they utilized 8 ВЅ ft
propellers installed behind the wind to minimize airflow disturbance, incorporated counter rotating
propellers to eliminate the problems associated with torque, and gained thrust efficiency by
reducing the blades rotational speed using a chain and sprocket transmission. The Wright brother s
propeller was 66% efficient which was much higher that any other propeller of the time. The
foundations of a disciplined approach to propeller design evolved soon thereafter. With the
advancements and refinements made by early inventors, engineers could use those test results to
design propellers with better performance and structural reliability. These advancements led to the
development of the first generation of well designed propellers. One of the first designs was the
Integrale , developed by Lucien Chauviere, the world s first industry standard propeller
manufacturer. By 1910, the number of propeller producers multiplied, and numerous

Examples Of Vengeance In The Crucible
The Crucible Essay Vengeance is a powerful internal force that can lead to bad actions. Most of
the time, people do not realize what they are doing wrong in an act of vengeance. In Arthur
Miller s The crucible, revenge develops through Abigail Williams accusing Elizabeth Proctor of
witchery due to a desire for her life, Ann Putnam accusing Rebecca Nurse of supernatural murder
because of jealousy, and Giles Corey defending his wife from the accusations of Thomas
Putnam. Eventually, vengeance ends in the death of many innocent people. Abigail, a foolish 17
year old orphan, becomes very desirous of John Proctor s wife s life. Abigail s feelings for John

Ann Putnam has mourned a terrible loss and does not want to believe that the loss was her fault.
I take it upon my soul, but who else may surely tell us what person murdered my babies?[...]
They were murdered, Mr. Parris! (15). To dismiss her guilt she blames it on others. One person
she turns the blame on is Rebecca Nurse. Rebecca Nurse has many children and grandchildren
that are alive and well; Putnam holds an immense grudge over the fact that Rebecca Nurse s
children survived and her s did not. She begins to think that Rebecca may have been the cause of
her children s death and accuses her of witchery of supernatural murder. For this reason, Mrs.
Putnam says the phrase You think it God s work you should never lose a child, nor a grandchild
either, and bury all but one? There are wheels within wheels in this village! And fire within fires!
(26). Ann Putnam gives an accusation stating that Rebecca Nurse is protected by a supernatural
power to avoid the pain that Ann has gone through. In taking her vengeance out on Rebecca Nurse,
Ann Putnam feels the pleasure of assuring herself that it was not her fault. On the other hand,
Rebecca Nurse was charged and had been put in jail eventually leading her to

The Understanding Of Reading Comprehension
Abstract Reading is the process of constructing meaning through the self motivated interaction
among the reader s knowledge and the material proposed by the written language and the context
of the reading situation. The understanding of reading comprehension is to teach reading to
students acquire reading skills to become independent learners. The strategies of teaching will be
used to help students achieve their reading goals. In areas such as mathematics, developing teacher
content knowledge has been a major concern because it is generally accepted that teachers who
know these subjects are better able to teach them. As teachers, we need to research strategies that
can be used to teach students how to read in every content area. Our focus in this literature review
will be on mathematics and how teachers can find different strategies and activities to use to help
students learn to read and also to use prior knowledge as they implement these strategies.
Keywords: Knowledge Content, comprehension, mathematics Introduction Reading is a natural life
skill, and students must be able to read in order to function in society. Even in our everyday
responsibilities such as working, grocery shopping, driving, banking, and reading the newspaper,
we are required to do some sort of reading. One of the ways in which teachers can help students
improve their reading skills is through strategy instruction (Duke Pearson, 2002). Strategy

In war, standing here rather than there can save your life, but cost a buddy his. It s flukish luck, but you feel responsible. The guilt begins an endless loop of counterfactuals ‑ thoughts that you could have or should do otherwise, though in fact you did nothing wrong, (War and The moral Logic, The New York Times). Many people argue about whether survivor s guilt is necessary. • 3. The Influence of Ancient Chinese Philosophies such as... Through the whole of history s existence, religions, philosophies and personal belief systems have been around to shape and mold life into what it is today. Religions all around the world have their own belief systems, sometimes even more than one. And though one religion or philosophy may develop in a specific corner of the world, there is always at least two paths they could travel. A system can either remain personally sacred to the founders, themselves, or it may become a popular belief to other areas in the world, be they the next town over, or the next country. Likewise is the fact that though some areas may hold true to one specific religion, other areas may produce several belief systems that may fancy several different groups of... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Though Confucianism started out in the Chinese Dynasties, it would later come to be spread through Korea, Japan, and Vietnam as well. And though it spread, the idea remained a solid belief system to the Chinese people, practiced for many years to come. The leadership was passed on from Confucius, to scholars down the line, preserved in both the minds and hearts of its followers, but also texts such as the Analects, Mencius, and The Doctrine of the Mean. These books held within them the beliefs, moral standards, and teachings of Confucianism itself. Rather different from the other religions and philosophies of its time, Confucianism s belief system was based around the idea of social order in everyday life. What Confucius believed to be true was the simple fact that by nature, everyone is good . And so, the idea went that everyone could maintain their goodness by learning to live with proper decorum. In order to live as such, however, Confucius decreed Five Proper Relationships to share with one s fellow comrades. In no particular order, the Fine Relationships where as such: father to son, older brother to younger brother, husband to wide, ruler to subject, and friend level with friend. Of course, reversed genders, like mother to daughter and older sister to younger sister, were also applied. The way each relationship had been set up, is for the first person in the pair to set good examples for the second, accept, of course, in the friend level with ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 4. All Relationships Between A Mother And A Daughter Not all relationships between a mother and a daughter are the same, but involves human interaction. Every mother differs in their teaching and upbringing of their children, especially their daughters. A mother s love and compassion for her child, wants the best for her child. Sometimes, her love is rigorous because she does not want her daughter to go through her experiences in life. Written by Jamaica Kincaid, in Girl the motheris teaching her child to take care and defend herself. Written by Amy Tan, in Two Kinds the mother is trying to help her daughter discover her talent. A mother instructs her daughter to obey rules and modes of conduct in order for her to be successful. Mothers are strict when it comes to instructing their daughters of how to build a proper identity for themselves. On Sundays try to walk like a lady and not like a slut you are so bent on becoming; don t sing benna in Sunday school; you mustn t speak to wharf rat boys, not even to give directions; don t eat fruits on the streets flies will follow you (Kincaid 320). Basically, mothers want their daughter to care about their appearance and to look clean in society. The mother does not want her daughter s name to be spreading of how nasty she dresses in public. The girl s mother wants her to not only look like a lady, but act as one. She wants her child to have respect for herself and respected for others, by not singing in school. • 6. Essay On The Gold Rush In early 1848, cries of gold findings flooded the West. White settlers flooded the area like a hurricane in search of riches never seen before to the common man. It was the single greatest migration of people in a shortest amount of time. The gold rush was a very dark period in American history and it shouldn t be celebrated; the Native American s were slaughtered in American thirst for gold Explosions of violence from both natives and settlers were common in this environment of prejudice and greed. Between 1850 and 1890 eighty percent of the total number of Native Americans in Californiadied due to murder and massacre, disease, starvation, and forced migration from their native lands. The destruction of the culture and lives of the people native to California and the Black Hills of South Dakota. Greed changed the morals and values of the miners and Americans alike in the Gold Rush. The gold rush brought riches and highlighted racism of white Americans, while systematically destroying Native Americans in that region. To many Californians the mention of January 24, 1948, conveys no special meaning, nor is that date widely commemorated in the state. Yet it had a special significance in the history of California, for on that day James Marshall, a moody carpenter from Missouri, discovered the first gold nuggets that resulted in a stampede known as the California Gold Rush. Changing PT in the morning to accommodate everyone: a. There is no doubt that there is a significant skill level during PT. PT should be split at least 3 4 PT sessions a month. Meaning cadets are broken up based on their personal skill level and which area they need the most help in. This way every cadet is being pushed to the max. b. We all have a goal to decrease our run time and exercises such as the Indian run will push cadets to improve their running score. Therefore, by intensifying PT as the semester continues and completing more intense exercises, cadets will be pushed to their max and scores will improve. c. Setting high goals will push and motivate cadets to push themselves harder than the previous PT session. Goals such as: (1.) If the detachment as a whole does at least 15% higher from the PFD taken in fall to the PFD taken in spring, then the cadets will get to choose what exercises will be done for one PT session. (2.) Cadets run time for 1.5 mile run will decrease by 30 seconds from the beginning of the semester to the end of the semester. (3.) Cadets will be able to increase their personal push up amount done in one minuet by at least five push ups by the end of the semester, unless they have maxed the number of pushups required for the standardized PT test. 5. Different cultures have different images and stereotypes on what a witch is and what magical abilities he or she may possess. Many people however, did not look at these magical men and women as bad until the Holy Roman Empire began to look negatively on those people who were different, and opposed the norm set by the elites. Driven by fear, those living under the control of the Holy Roman Empire would began to blame other people for diabolical actions, or malicious activities. Women and some men, were tortured and tested in cruel ways in attempt of finding evidence or gaining a confession that the accused was a witch. Laws about how which were persecuted... King James I, according to author Malcolm Gaskill in his works Witchcraft and Evidence in Early Modern England, had a great influence in the court systems. Before the English Civil War, the witch trials were broken up in two parts. The first being that a Justice of the Peace would examine the accused, then the second was an actual trial would occur. In those trials according to Gaskill, English trials followed common law principles: lay jurors had to be persuaded by lay witnesses. Many trials during this time period demanded more solid proof before the accused could be convicted. Gaskill, also writes that the court systems prior to the Hopkins witch trials, people began to question intangible evidence coming from the accusers and the witnesses. This shows that before the English Civil War, the courts where yes, being tried for witchcraft, but the courts were also demanding solid evidence against the accused person. The kids described in this letter are very funny and seem to be full of life. There was this one particular part of the letter that I really enjoyed, it was the part with that one babysitter, who got blue paint on her face before her date with a track guy. To relate to this event, One time I played with this chalk paint with my babysitter and accidentally got paint on her face. However the truth is, before Einstein became the genius that we know of, he was entirely the opposite. Einstein was unable to speak fluently until he was 12 years old. He did so poorly that he nearly decided to drop out. After graduating, Einstein had to work many odd jobs to sustain himself. Einstein s father died believing he was a complete failure. Eventually, he found legitimate employment as a patent clerk. Every day, he would sit down, review patents, and analyze mathematical equations . And Einstein loved it .Einstein s work transformed the way physicists thought about light, gravity, and space. More famously, he argued light can bend. Of course, physicists thought he was crazy. Victimization In The Millennium Trilogy The Interrelation of Corruption and Victimization in The Millennium Trilogy Stieg Larsson s acclaimed crime fiction book series, The Millennium Trilogy, is not only remarkable for its thrilling plot, but also for Larsson s adroit ability to provide perceptive social, economical, and political commentary. This essay will concentrate on Larsson s commentary regarding the corruption of the socio political system and how it relates to victimization. In order to best illustrate this thesis, I shall analyze these themes in Larsson s second novel in the series, The Girl Who Played with Fire, and with references to his first novel, The Girl with The Dragon Tattoo. In the following exploration, one will see Bo Tao MichГ¤els The Ten Commandments... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... This almost conflicts directly to a majority of Larsson s Millennium Trilogy. In The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo, there are many signs of corruption from Hans Erik WennerstrГ¶m s illegal industries to the Vanger corporation covering up Martin and Gottfried s murders. Larsson continues this motif as well in The Girl Who Played with Fire. It is the corruption of the Swedish government and the police that allows Zara to rape and abuse Salander s mother, allows Zara to stay out of prison for his crimes, and forces Salander to a psychiatric ward. It is the corruption of the guardianship system for psychiatrics that allows Salander to be raped by Bjurman and to be held hostage by the law. Furthermore, it is the leaders of society, the prominent social, economic, and political upper crust of Sweden, that are subject to investigation for sex slavery by Dag and Mia. It would not be unreasonable to state that corruption exists at every level. Moreover, this corrupted system is truly the creator behind all of Salander s psychiatric problems. If the Swedish system was free of corruption, as suggested in The Ten Commandments, then one could argue that Salander s mental and physical health would drastically ... • 12. The Causes And Effects Of Stress In High School Students Every year, over 1.2 million students drop out of high school in the United States alone. Stress is the most important factor in why students give up on school. Being a recent graduate from high school, I clearly understand exactly how the many components of high school can be stressful. There are many causes and effects of stress on young high schoolstudents. The homework load on students can cause stress, Time management is a factor if stress, and Peer pressure is a big cause of stress for high school students. The stress on students in high school can greatly affecttheir academic performance, it will eventually affect their attitude, and it s going to have a great effecton their mental and physical health. In the next few paragraphs, I will be explaining the causes of stress on high school students. Among many students in High school, the homework load is a cause of stress. According to the National Association of Education, a student should be assigned no more than 10 minutes of homework per grade level per night. Meaning a 1st grader should only have 10 minutes of homework while a 12th grader has 120 minutes of homework each night. On average, high school students are required to take 7 9 classes sometimes daily per week. The amount of homework given to these students sometimes doubles or even triples the recommended amount of homework. A student s time management can cause stress. Deadlines are the things that motivate us to get things done. But so many deadlines ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 13. The Swot Analysis And Summaries Of The SWOT Analysis Section 2: SWOT Analysis The theory of the SWOT analyses The SWOT analysis aims to provide a short overview of a business s current strategic situation by analyzing its internal factors, being strengths and weaknesses, alongside its external factors that might have an impact on the businesses strategic choices, being the entity s opportunities and threats (Anja BГ¶hm, 2009: 1). The SWOT analysis is ultimately a tool which is used to analyze a business s current situation in the market place and aims to identify a strategy for successful development using the overlap between the internal and external factors. The acronym SWOT simply stands for strengths, weaknesses, opportunities and threats (Nadine Pahl Anne Richter, 2009: 27). Strengths ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... One of the major limitations is that it doesn t offer any end solutions to develop a business s strategic plans, but rather forms part of the process, as depicted in the above Diagram 1. It only acts as a tool to help a business with their strategic decisions, and cannot produce the final decision by itself. A full SWOT analysis often ends up producing long extensive lists of the strengths, weaknesses, opportunities and threats which are not arranged in any particular way that could reflect priorities. It does not rank the factors by importance. This can be a problem because some effects of certain threats/weaknesses can be more serious and harmful to the businesses competitive advantage than others but the SWOT analysis does not make this clear. It doesn t highlight or single out any of the more important strengths and opportunities and this can sometimes lead to favorable opportunities being lost among other mediocre ones. One of the problems that often arises when conducting a SWOT analysis is that the same factor could be placed in two different categories. This problem of ambiguity can cause disputes and confusion. An example of this would be locating a retail store on the high upmarket streets of a big city. This is a strength as it puts the store out there to lots of potential customers, but the weakness to this is that it would have very high ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

I ve used the article in my paper and presentation, as well I ve particularly valued the case of Tarek Mehanna, 2012 while giving the examples for the Free speech rights and its protection in case of use and distribution of Terroristic Messages . • 15. Law Questions Essay 1) Since the injured plaintiff was not wearing a seatbelt, why is Ford being sued for failing to test the seatbelt sleeve? In the case of Branham v. Ford Motor Co., the Plaintiff brought the case against Hale, the driver, and Ford because the company failed to test the seat belt sleeve, even though he did not seriously pursue the claim against Hale (Reed, Pagnattaro, Cahoy, Shedd Morehead, 2012). The case against Ford was based on two product liability claims: one for not testing the seat belt and the other a design defect claim related to the vehicles tendency to rollover (Reed, Pagnattaro, Cahoy, Shedd Morehead, 2012). Ford s reasoning for dismissal of the negligence claim was that since Branham did not prove the seat belt sleeve was in a defective condition unreasonably dangerous to its user meant that it should have been dismissed as well. The court s decision to judge on the handling and stability design defect claim portion (Reed, Pagnattaro, Cahoy, Shedd Morehead, 2012), this is true. 3) Is the consumer expectations test or the risk utility test more favorable to manufacturers? Explain. In Branham v. Ford Motors Co., the risk utility test is more favorable to the manufacturer. The consumer expectations test is difficult to predict from a manufacturer s perspective because it is vague (Tracy 2010). Under the risk utility test, a product is unreasonably dangerous and defective if the danger associated with the use of the product outweighs the utility of the product (Reed, Pagnattaro, Cahoy, Shedd Morehead, 2012). The consumer expectations test is used to determine whether the product is negligently manufactured or whether a warning on the product is defective. Invasion Of The Body Snatchers Essay Don Seigel s 1956 film Invasion of the Body Snatchers shook many viewers with its brutal imagery of an invasion, a take over, that was almost impossible to differentiate from the normal behavior of society at that time. Neighbors would be completely normal one day, go to sleep, and wake up where everything else is the same, but not the feeling that those close to them had come to recognize. Wilma, a desperately worried niece of a recently Snatched citizen, can feel the difference all too well in her familymembers. • 19. Sociological Explanations Of Deviance Essay Macionis and Plummer (2008), state that deviance involves the recognised violation of cultural norms . Societies are layered by norms which guide virtually all human activities and deviance is the violation of these norms . Haralambos and Holborn (2008) give a similar definition and state that deviance consists of those acts which do not follow the norms and expectations of a particular social group. The violation of norms is, in fact, universal to all definitions of deviance. Norms provide guidance as to what type of behaviour is considered proper in particular situations (Haralambos and Holborn, 2008). There are many types of norms for every situation; there are religious norms, health norms and certainly school norms. Rules are some of the most important norms for which formal sanctions are taken when these are broken. Sociological explanations of deviance try to explain the causes of deviance by looking at the society and how it may lead individual to adopt particular form of behaviour. The theories outlined here relate deviance either to social class, subcultures within school or to the effect resulting from meaning that students give to school experience, a theory usually favoured by interpretivist sociologists. 2.1.1 Social class, subcultures and deviancy... We still use the expression an Iago to describe someone evil and underhanded. Iagocontains so much jealousy and hatred against Othellofor being a general in the army, a position he feels in righteously his that he victimizes everyone around him. He is mad at Othello for he granted Cassio as his lieutenant instead of him, this affects his pride, forsooth a great arithmetician one Michael Cassio, a Florentine (Meyer, 2017, pp. 1072). Jealousy fumigates this anger, and Iago turns into a villain in the play he needs to seek revenge against Othello and Cassio he uses other characters in the play to his advantage to seek his revenge and feed his jealousy. Iago uses Roderigo, a gulled gentleman that is in love with Desdemona to help him take down Othello and Cassio. He manipulates Roderigo using his lust against him and tells him to give Desdemona gifts of jewels to win her over, yet Iago keeps these treasures for himself to build his purse. Iago manipulates Roderigo to believe that if he will listen to him and do as he says that he will gain Desdemona s love in the end. The jewels you have had from me to deliver to Desdemona would half have corrupted a votarist (Meyers, 2017, pp.1136). Iago convinces Cassio to go against his better judgment and drink with him, But one cup! I ll drink for you (Meyers, 2017, pp. 1097). His intended audience are students who are victims of strict English teachers as well as the strict English teachers, themselves. In his essay, Ballenger portrays that students are more focused on being grammatically correct than the message in their essays. This is because of teachers who grade strictly on grammar errors and punctuation. Ballenger says, A colleague of mine, an Ivy League graduate, is among the self appointed grammar police, complaining often about the dumb mistakes his students make in their papers. Ballenger must grade his own students essays, which helps build his reputation; also, he has gone through experiences where teachers graded his essays only on his errors. Ballenger tells how he had a teacher back in grade school named Mrs. O Neill; his teacher would not be patient when it came to an incorrect sentence. (Page 73). • 33. The Postal System As A Method Of Communication There are three separate theories available which can be identified that could be used to confirm that an enforceable agreement has been reached between parties using the postal system as a method of communication. These are, the information theory, whereby the offeror notifies the offeree that the letter of acceptance has been received. The receipt theory, which assumes a contract has been created on the receipt of a letter of acceptance and the dispatch theory, known also as the postal rule which confirms that a contract has been entered into at the point in time that the letter of acceptance is posted. Clearly, it is essential that when contracts are created using the postal system as a means of communication it must possible to determine at what point the agreement becomes legally enforceable. When using the postal system there is an inevitable risk that communications could be lost or delayed which, but for the postal rule would create uncertainty for the party who is providing acceptance of the offer. Therefore, unless the offeror had prescribed a specific or alternative method of communication it is the dispatch theory that is applied in English contract law regarding the acceptance of agreements that are made using the postal system, this confirms certainty in the mind of the offeree. Margaret Wise Brownconstantly experimented with writing children s literature. She tried new things that many other authors did not try. Defend whether or not this made each artist s work any less original. It does not make their art any less original. Originality is about creativity and innovation. While their work was similar, it was the only of it s kind at the time. They pioneered the path of cubism side by side. I would not consider this to be unoriginal, but a tandem effort to make their own art. Surely, they challenged one another which pushed their art to new heights. I don t think cubism would be what it is today without both artists, as they were at the forefront of creating new art during that period. 2. The motor car is an ingenious creation that required great minds to create, but the question is about beauty. Marble statues bent to the will of man are truly beautiful to me. Introduction This essay will explore the role of music with regards to the formation and transformation of identities within the emosubculture contrasting it to the dance music tradition. The subculture of emo music engulfed many young adults of today s generation including myself and those who were drawn to its spectrum and their affiliation to the music will allow for an in depth analysis of points made by scholars which will allow me to contrast the emo subculture to that of dance music. Dance music has become increasingly popular in the current popular music scene and it offers a distinct contrast to emo music. Therefore, this provides a genuine contrast that can be anaylsed and by exploring the contrasting features of these two music forms and their cultural traditions, it will be possible to conclude the role of music in how it forms and transforms identities today. Before delving into the meaning of emo I will first explore the definitions of culture and in particular, youth subculture, to which emo is linked with. Contrastingly, I encountered theories with arguments that were not thought provoking ideas at first, but I became acclimated to them due to the logical and well thought out methodologies. The lack of reflection on how interpersonal relationships affect morality is where Virginia Held s view completes my normative ethical theory. Her view of care ethics establishes the importance of relationships with others, as people depend on one another to some capacity. Despite the lack of previous information to consult, the brothers were able to learn, through investigation and trial/error, that large propeller diameters would produce high thrust for a given power input. The brothers also determined that high torque produced by large, slow turning blades adversely affected the flying qualities (p factor). On their first aircraft, they utilized 8 ВЅ ft propellers installed behind the wind to minimize airflow disturbance, incorporated counter rotating propellers to eliminate the problems associated with torque, and gained thrust efficiency by reducing the blades rotational speed using a chain and sprocket transmission. The Wright brother s propeller was 66% efficient which was much higher that any other propeller of the time. The foundations of a disciplined approach to propeller design evolved soon thereafter.
