Design and Methods Using a modified survey by Engelbrecht and Mahembe (2013), the following
hypotheses were addressed:
Hypothesis 1: The facilitation of on the job learning and the transfer of knowledge occurs when
employees perceive leader support.
Hypothesis 2: Organizational learning was conducive to employee growth and development.
Hypothesis 3: Servant leadership environments aid the transfer of knowledge by building a culture of
learning whereby employees perceived the value of learning.
Hypothesis 4: Employee growth and development was positively associated with organizational
performance.
Hypothesis 5: Leading by example or mentoring resulted in employees mimicking positive

These individuals are employees of Chick fil A, Freehold Raceway Mall, Freehold, New Jersey, an
organization whose leadership style is that of servant leaders. The second part of this investigation
focused on training as an antecedent of organizational performance in a servant leadership
environment. Dr. Herb Shaffer (Institute for Servant Leadership), Dr. Bill Jones (Area Director for the
Church of God in Michigan) and Dr. Rebecca New Edson (Area Director for the Church of God in
Western Pennsylvania), professional trainers were also interviewed. These interviews were comprised
of questions focusing on training in a servant leadership environment and the impact on organizational
performance. Discussions and Results section of this research paper outline the findings.
Limitations
A limitation of this research may be the length of time on the job and the relationship of trust
demonstrated by followers based on the trustworthy behaviors of the leader. The measurement of
emotional intelligence, which leads to trust, may be another factor that influenced the trust rating.
Analysis and Discussion Voluntary and anonymous surveys completed by eight out of twelve Chick fil
A employees focused on four areas that have a strong relationship with and evidence of employee
engagement and creating an organizational culture that is conducive to exciting organizational
citizenship behaviors. The results are as follows.

Family Law
Meta: Family law is the area of law that deals directly with issues impacting families. This can include
cases involving matters such as divorce, adoption, and child abuse.
Family law is a broad field of legal practice that encompasses many different issues impacting family
today. Some of the legal cases that will full under the jurisdiction of family law include: divorce, child
support, adoption, custody arrangements, paternity, termination of parental rights, and child abuse and
neglect.

matters such as disputes over child custody arrangements. Much of the rest of the morning is spent
preparing to go to court for different hearings and motions scheduled for later in the day. She many

court. Some of the hearings are short ten minutes or less both others can last an hour or two, or more.
What Kind of Employment Opportunities are there in Family Law?
Employment opportunities in family law are growing, in part because divorce rates have risen
significantly in recent decades. There is also a fairly high turn over rate in family law, as it can be an
emotionally difficult legal field.
If you are interested in family law, you should take multiple family law courses in law school. After
you have received your degree, there should be many opportunities available to intern at service

Tigers Short Story
Come on Tigers, I thought to myself. I was nervous, I did not want to have to deal with the
disappointment of the Tigers losing and I was hoping it would go perfectly with them coming back to
win the game. Then It was the bottom of the ninth bases loaded down by 2, with 2 outs. Everyone was
on their feet as Ian Kinsler walked up to bat. Nerves were high Indians fans wanting him out Tigers
fans wanting him to knock it out of the park. There was a 50% chance this came would end perfectly
and 50% that it wouldn t. On the first pitch he swung and.......... Finally we climbed quickly out of our

Finally we arrived at Comerica and I was astonished how amazing it looked. We played a dice game
they had outside and my mom won a tigers cap. Then we decided to go into their memorabilia shop.
There was not much good memorabilia because it was quite overpriced so we began to walk to our
seats, which were in the upper bowl. When we arrived at our seats I realized there was a lot of
Cleveland Indian fans by us, and that kind of annoyed me. I was looking for my favorite player
Miguel Cabrera but he could not be found. I was confused because I thought he was supposed to be
playing. Finally, they announced the starting lineups and I found out he was NOT playing. I was
incredibly disappointed and quite upset. I exclaimed to my family I can t believe MIGGY isn t
playing!!!!!!!! Parker responded to me WHAT!!!!!!!!????!?!?!?!!?! MIGGY isn t playing!?!?!?!!!!!!?!?
This is ridiculous why are they not using their star player Miguel Cabrera!?! I asked. After that I
turned and disappointedly watched the Tigers warmup. Already what I thought was a perfect night
took a turn for the worse. Quite a bit of time passed and the game finally started. I was hoping we
could get some hits off Kluber, the Indians star pitcher. My hopes crumpled like paper though, with
the Indians scoring 4 runs already. The game got really boring and I gave up on watching it. As it got

Chinese, English and United States China Foreign Policy in Asia
This memo communicates my deepening anxieties about the broadening disparity in trade and
commerce and a shift in the balance of military power between China, England and the United States.
Since our last communique, the POTUS (President of the Unites States) McKinley has died. There s
been a reversal of the Open Door Strategy since President s McKinley s assassination. President
Roosevelt now commander and chief of America and has restructured a grand American vision for the
U.S. to expand its authority far beyond her natural borders. The U.S. goal to spread its Washingtonian
Gilded Age democracy through merchants and missionaries has ended and is now being transformed
and driven by hegemony and empire building. The new POTUS and Secretary of State John Hay
(former Ambassador to England) have implemented a strategy to make the building of the U.S
military its number one national objective. We see this large scale military buildup as a threat to both
England and China.
English trade merchants rightly protest the U.S. devouring unfairly the lion s share of profits from
China s commerce that has resulted in a profound shift in the balance of Pacific trade favorably
towards the United States. England believes there are still greater plans by the U.S. to manipulate
currencies to promote their quest to conquer the entire American and

Hypocritical Tendencies in Chaucer s Canterbury Tales Essay
In the Canterbury Tales, Chaucer introduces a variety of characters with a multitude of personalities.
From the despicable Summoner to the abrasive Miller, these characters are created with their own
personalities and their own human failings. One common fault that characters share is hypocrisy.
From pretending to be wealthy to cheating the poor out of money, hypocritical tendencies are
abundant in the Canterbury Tales. Throughout the story, Chaucer ridicules the human criticizes the
human failing of hypocrisy through the examples of the Pardoner, the Merchant, and the Friar.
One character Chaucer uses to ridicule hypocrisy is the Pardoner. Throughout the description of the
pardoner, it is shown that he is corrupt. He uses lies and ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The Merchant portrays himself to be a financial expert in order to hide his poverty: This estimable
Merchant so had set his wits to work, none knew he was in debt... (104, 289 290). Although the
Merchant gives plenty of opinions on finances, he is a prime example of hypocrisy in that he gives
advice that he cannot follow. The Friar is one of the biggest examples of hypocrisy in the story.
Throughout the Friar s description, he is shown to take advantage of his position and shun his duties to
benefit himself. Instead of conforming to the poor lifestyle of traditional friars, Chaucer s Friar
manipulates people into giving him money and then pockets it for himself. One way he takes
advantage of his position is by charging people for confessions: Sweetly he heard his penitents at
shrift with pleasant absolution, for a gift (103, 225 226). He also makes money by being an excellent
beggar, as shown in the quote: He was the finest beggar of his batch...For though a widow mightn t
have a shoe, so pleasant was his holy how d ye do he got his farthing from her just the same... (103,
259 261). The Friar also rejects his duties by refusing to associate with the needy, as described in the
passage: It was not fitting with the dignity of his position, dealing with a scum of wretched lepers;
nothing good can come of dealings with the

Sentencing For Drug Offenders Should Be Lenient
Sentencing for drug offenders can be somewhat lenient or harsh depending upon what drug was
involved in the arrest and who the violator is; meaning if the violator is an adult or a juvenile. In

Justice cannot and will not tolerate this conduct in America, and that is why they stands firmly behind
the intent of this legislation to increase the punishment meted out to drug offenders. The Department
of Justice supports mandatory minimum sentences in appropriate circumstances, of course. Mandatory
minimum sentencing statues can provide a level of uniformity and predictability that regular
sentencing procedures cannot. Mandatory minimum sentencing discourages certain types of criminal
behavior by broadcasting the potential consequences of committing those offenses. They can also keep
dangerous offenders in prison for long periods of time, thereby increasing the public s safety. They
also provide an important tool for prosecutors by providing defendants with a convincing incentive,

The Devil Behind The Mirror Analysis
In The Devil behind the Mirror, Steven Gregory studies the effects of tourism and globalization in the
Dominican Republic, specifically the towns of Boca Chica and Andres near the capital of Santo
Domingo.
The first chapter analyses how the economy of the Dominican republic switched from a focus on the
sugar industry to a focus on the growing urge for international tourism. One large aspect of the
economy of the Dominican republic was the sugar industry, especially in the city of Andres. Gregory
writes that, the sugar industry was a large source of income for the Dominican Republic. Gregory
states, that as the mid to late 20th century continued, the sugar industry was not supporting the country
s economy at all, so the economy began to switch its focus from the sugar industry in Andres to the
increasing interest in international tourism in Boca Chica. Gregory makes an important point, that part
of the push for the Dominican Republic to switch to an economic focus on tourism was caused by a
push by the World Back to promote tourism as an economic panacea . Gregory quotes Malcolm Crick,
who states, Tourism was represented as an easy option for development because it relied largely on
natural resources already in place e.g. sand, sun, friendly people and therefore required no vast capital
outlays for infrastructure. This shift in the Dominican Republic took off because it seemed like a very
easy way for the country to develop economically and make themselves known on a

Col. George Armstrong Custer revealed the presence of gold in the Black Hills in front of the whole
nation, which made the government regret their agreement of giving the Black Hills and other lands to
the Sioux. The whites from the peace party and many other parties, didn t like it, and said that the

Custer cut his hair short, so that no one can recognize him, and nobody recognized him. After some
point Custer realized that the Indians weren t running away, in fact, they intend to kill him. Although,
Custer knew that he had entered the valley of death, but he kept fighting, but he enjoyed himself till
his last breathe. For Custer s men s were so exhausted after that long journey they were barely in the
position to stand, they had only tiredness, horror, and death. As for Maj. Reno he could have charged
the Indians, which could have resulted in disarray, but he didn t. Hence, Indians chased him to the
Little Big Horn where he hardly survived. The entry of Crazy Horse is still not confirmed, some say
he seized Custer on the high ground, but it was Gall, the Hunkpapa warrior, and his men were
successful in turning Reno back and harassed Custer so badly that the 7Th Cavalry; the soldiers, never

by killing Custer. A Hunkpapa, Bad Soup, also says by pointing towards his Custer s body that how

The Era Of The 1920s
The 1920s was a pivotal era in women s fashion an era that saw Prohibition, Jazz and celebration of
war s end. Gone was the hourglass figure of the 19th Century, swept away by the World War I, and
replaced by the figure of a modern, independent woman. This book covers fashions from 1920 to
1924, an often overlooked period of fashion which was a time of transition between the draped and
layered fashions of the post World War I era and the free and easy gowns of the jazz age flapper.
Before the Roaring Twenties, women were still wearing floor length dresses with corsets, and
crinolines, arms and legs were covered, hair was long. This Gibson girl look was set the standard for
beauty, fashion and manner. And the Victorian attitudes toward dress and etiquette created a strict
moral climate.
Until 1920s things changed quickly, the women was given the right to vote, they began to attend
college. The Equal Rights Amendment was proposed in 1923. The World War I was over and men
wanted their jobs back. Women, though, who had taken up men s jobs while they were at war, had
proved themselves worthy of men s jobs, so many organizations and feminist reformers took up the
task to encourage gender equality.
Many important things happened in the 1920 s like prohibition and jazz music. Something that is also
very significant is that this was the decade where fashion began entering a modern era. After decades
of Victorian style, clothing such as corsets and petticoat, fashion was finally

Early American Transportation
Transportation, a system for moving people or goods from one place to another. Throughout the
history there are many ways of transportation, such as road, boat, airplane that only appeared around
last century, etc. People use these tools to transport goods or themselves from one destination to
another. Even though different vehicles provide different speed and volume for transportation, the
most common and beneficial route is the land route. The dominant way of transportation on land is
always the train. The train not only can travel at a high speed it can also carry many things. The
railroad played a huge role in the human history making it one of human s best invention.

Under the influences from the Europeans, American began developing its own railroad system. With
the vast amount of land available, the Americans were able to build railroads with far larger scale than
those built in Europe. The earliest railways in the United States were just like those earlier railroads in
Europe. They were short, wooden railways built by quarries and mines along which horses pulled
loads to nearby water ways. In the 1827, the mine and quarry operators built the first full size
railways. In 18329, the first locomotive for the railroads was imported from Europe. Although some
Americans such as Horatio Allen had been experiencing with locomotives, their locomotives were
proved to be too heavy for the tracks that had been constructed and was subsequently abolished. (
Railroads. Dictionary of American History) The railroad era in America truly began in the 1830s when
Peter Cooper s locomotive, Tom Thumb, first steamed along 13 miles (21 km) of Baltimore and Ohio
railroad track. (Rail transport, Early railroads in the US, Wikipedia) Tom Thumb traveled at speeds
approaching fifteen miles per hour while pulling a car filled with thirty people. This led the beginning
of train transportation of human not minerals or ore. However, not until the 1850s, though, did
railroads offer long distance service at reasonable rates. Not only the Baltimore and Ohio Railroad was
the first carry passengers but also the first to evolve from a single line to a network in the United
States. Railroads were connected to each other between some cities. However, in order to get from one
city to another, the passengers had to transfer train multiple times. In addition, only at places like
Bowling Green, Kentucky, were the railroads connected to one another. Soon following the

The Pros and Cons of the Criminalization of Pornography
The Pros and Cons of the Criminalization of Pornography Americans were alternatively shocked,
alarmed and delighted when Marilyn Monroe appeared on the cover of the first Playboy magazine in
1953. Since that time, the debate over pornography has become increasingly heated, due in large part
to critics who argue that the medium debases women and teaches young people the wrong lessons
about human sexuality. To gain some fresh insights about these issues, this paper provides a review of
the relevant peer reviewed and scholarly literature to determine whether pornography should be
criminalized in the same fashion and for the same reasons that hate speech is criminalized. A summary
of the research and important findings concerning these issues are provided in the conclusion. Review
and Discussion The issue of pornography has long been the source of controversy for many Western
societies, particularly with respect to its implications for gender roles and sexuality (Lofgren
Martenson Mansson, 2010). For instance, according to Griffith and Adams (2012), Issues regarding
the production and consumption of pornographic materials continue to be an intensely debated social
topic (p. 245). The social context surrounding the debate over whether pornography should be legal or
not includes various principles concerning the importance of gender equality and compulsory sex
educational courses that place a high priority on unrestricted rights to sexuality for both men and

Indian Partition And Its Effect
Making a decision is not always as simple as it may seem. Needs and preferences must be ascertained,
someone will ultimately be compelled to make a choice, and more often than not, others will be forced
to make sacrifices and may become indignant that their preferences were not honored. The decision to
partition India was not a simple decision, but, in fact, the very opposite of that; India was in a state of
such mayhem that it seemed as if it would be impossible to come up with the perfect solution.
Eventually, the British government was forced to partition India and virtually everyone was forced to
make dire sacrifices. As India was divided into the nation of Pakistan and the Republic of India, it is
not an understatement to suggest that millions of lives were overturned. However, when accurately
trying to understand the Indian Partition and its effect, historical accounts often focus solely on
prominent figures and overlook the experience and perspectives of the millions at the ground level.
Not only would studying the viewpoints and experiences of ordinary people bring forth a very
different sense of history, but it is important to wholly understand the Partition as well. By considering
this aspect of history, this evaluation will demonstrate that, by ignoring non elites interpretations and
experiences, historians omitted key elements of the story. [Can you add a roadmap that looks ahead to

The Importance Of Refugee Camps

world is established in Kenya, Africa. Named Kakuma Refugee Camp, this camp is home to some
100,000 South Sudanese and 55,000 Somali refugees, most of whom were driven from their
homelands by civil war. Founded in 1922, the Kakuma Refugee Camp sits in northwestern Kenya and
houses over 180,000 refugees from nearly 20 countries. Furthermore, the camp s conditions are in a
threatening condition. Since the population is so high, food source is meager and especially difficult to

Trump became president on January 20, 2017. He signed an executive order that suspends any and all

describes how the United States will accept people in need. To illustrate how refugee camps are

four that I believe are the most innovative.

Once language begins to develop, though, humans wrote on anything that would stand still long
enough. Clay tablets, bamboo, papyrus and stone were only a few of the early writing surfaces. Things
changed once the Chinese, specifically a man named Cai Lun, invented the prototype for modern

in AD 105, he created a mixture of wood fibers and water and pressed it onto a woven cloth. The

important goal of obstructing terrorism, it achieves this goal at the expense of our individual liberties
given to us by the Constitution. Firstly, the Patriot Act violates the Fourth Amendment to the United
States Constitution by allowing the government to conduct secret searches of citizens property
undermining the amendment s principle of search and seizure only with a warrant. The Fourth
Amendment protects us from searches and seizures without a warrant or probable cause. However,
sections of the Patriot Act can be seen undermining this American prerogative. The American Civil
Liberties Union explains, Section 213 of the Patriot Act justifies the allowance of secret searches.
Secret searches permit the government to search the owner s private property without having to notify
them (ACLU). This section has caused for the mass surveillance of not only possible terrorists but also
innocent American citizens. The government not being required to inform you after your private

Patriarchy dominated in the nineteenth century and women were considered to be the property of their
husbands, without rights, land, or even the option to choose how to live their lives. The editor of The
Heath Anthology of American Literature, Paul Lauter explained that during the early nineteenth
century, white middle classed women had more leisure and education than their mothers or
grandmothers which enabled them to become a large audience; nevertheless, their opportunities for
meaningful work apart from childbearing, their ability to control their own property or even their own
persons had probably narrowed since the Revolution (Lauter 1460). White women became more
educated but remained inferior to men at this point in history. Lauter ... Show more content on

Jacobs bravely tells her story about escaping slavery with her children. She was the first writer to
show the grisly details of slavery and discuss sexual abuse. Jacobs criticizes herself for getting
pregnant to get out of the sexual abusive relationship of her slave owner by saying I felt as if I was
forsaken by God and man; as if all my efforts must be frustrated; and I became reckless in my despair
(Jacobs 2194). Jacobs had to hide for almost seven years in her grandmother s attic in attempt to gain
her and her children s freedom from their former slave owners (Yellin 2185). In 1852, Mrs. Willis, a
family friend, bought Jacobs freedom, for which Jacobs felt I was robbed of my victory because she
considered herself a person, unable to be bought or sold (Yellin 2185). Harriet Ann Jacobs publishes
her story to open people s eyes to what slavery really was.
Harriet Ann Jacobs helped start a movement of anti slavery writing that, through literature, would
eventually help change society s view of slavery. Jacobs Incidents was written for an audience of free
white women and its purpose was to involve these women in political action against the institution of
chattel slavery and the ideology of white racism confirming herself as an anti slavery writer using a
fictional character and different voice to tell truth (Yellin

then he left. Days went by, and Buttercup began to worry. She even told him before he left, I would be

War-Time Propaganda
As an art form, one could consider film to fall under Plato s consideration of art as an imitator of
nature and third removed from the truth (Plato, The Republic Book X, 360 BC). Like the painter who
paints the carpenter s work, the filmmaker can only portray an image that already exists. To call art a
mirror image of nature would imply that art including film shows all things exactly as they are in real
life. This is not true because the filmmaker can also be selective and perhaps deceptive in what parts
of the image that the film mirrors, picking and choosing aspects of the images to portray their own
ideas. Holding a mirror up implies that everything is being shown for what it truly is in its purest form
and it is for this reason that the ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The year is 1910 and the words on the title screen are addressed to the eager, helpful women of our
country who think they are doing their utmost to help (Huntley Film Archives), urging them Don t
give today and forget tomorrow but give and give until it hurts! (Huntley Film Archives). The film
goes on to show a woman sitting eating chocolates amid the terrific clash and bang of battle before
cutting to shots of soldiers in training then describing her actions as thoughtless as she buys new hats
disregarding price and need (Huntley Film Archives). The woman is then shown trying on hats with a
sales clerk nearby. She decides on a hat and gives the sales clerk money for it. The sales clerk is
ecstatic that she can use the money to buy another War Savings Stamp to help the soldiers fighting for
her (Huntley Film Archives). The first woman is horrified at the thought that the sales clerk is a better
patriot than her, and takes her money back to buy a Savings Stamp herself (Huntley Film Archives).
This is an example of propaganda because it spread the idea that no matter what American women
were doing during World War I, they were not doing enough to help the soldiers that were fighting for
their lives; any amount of frivolity was a slap in the face to American soldiers who need her money
more than her. It did not matter if she does not believe in the war or has already given a great deal; if
an American woman was to do something for herself she was doing something wrong. It also created
an air of competitiveness amongst these women, as if one could be a better patriot than the other based
on a single event or

Diabetes Mellitus As A Disability
The amount of patients being diagnosed with Diabetes Mellitus has sky rocketed these past few years.
In 2010 the figures were 25.8 million and 8.3% and has increased in 2012 to 29.1 million Americans,
or 9.3%. (American Diabetes Association, 2014); it is seen nationwide, and has now even begun to
affect our youth. In South Texas Diabetes Mellitus seems to be the number one thriving disease
affecting its general population. Diabetes Mellitus is now one of the most widely known diseases that
has turned into an epidemic and in 2008 the ADAAmendments Act of 2008 acknowledged Diabetes
Mellitus as a disability, and rightly so since it affects many, from children to the elderly, causing
complications (such as amputations, failure of ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Two out of three people with diabetes die from heart disease or stroke (American Diabetes
Association, 2014).Society needs to further educate themselves in order to fully understand this
disease and how it can affect their daily lives, whether by short term complications like blurred vision,
to long term complications like kidney failure, and how they can prevent or delay diabetes and its
complications.
Diabetes Mellitus is a chronic illness that requires the individual to manage, support, and educate
themselves of their illness in order to prevent any further complications. It is disease that is caused by
the impairment of insulin secretion and also caused by insulin resistance and insulin deficiency.
Insulin is the hormone used to control and maintain homeostasis over the amount of glucose in our
blood stream. If not much insulin is secreted it can lead to hyperglycemia, which is an abnormal
increase of glucose in the body. Early symptoms of Diabetes Mellitus are related to hyperglycemia and
include, but not limited to, polyuria (excessive urination), polydipsia (excessive thirst), weight loss,
sometimes with polyphagia (excessive hunger), and blurred vision. This may also lead to pre diabetes,
which is when glucose levels are higher than normal, but not high enough for a diagnosis of diabetes
(Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, 2014).
There are two main types of diabetes, Type 1 and type 2. Type 1 is where the

The reality that countries like North Korea, Iran, and Iraq are working on ballistic missiles. And that
terrorists who fly no national flag are trying to acquire chemical and biological weapons.
George J. Tenet, June 14, 2001
I. Introduction Terrorism is far from new to nations around the world. Attacks that make the headlines
in international news occur almost daily. However, each act of terrorism provides its own goal or
objective, which may or may not have a different aim than a previous attack, which makes the threat
even more difficult to prevent. Terrorism is a concept that is hard to define, but many government
organizations and authors around the world have defined or attempted to provide a definition of
terrorism. In spite of the lack of a single definition, terrorism is commonly referred to as a
phenomenon because it is constantly evolving. This, in turn, makes terrorism even more difficult to
predict and forecast.
Weapons of Mass Destruction (WMD) have been a significant fear since the attacks of 9/11. Al Qaeda
s use of airplanes as a weapon became the cause of mass terror and destruction to the American people
as well as the world. The threat of Chemical, Biological,

Missionary Trip To America Research Paper
By attending the missionary trip to South Africa, I have touched the lives of many just as they have for
me in their own ways. However, they may not even realize that they have changed my life for the
better. Some touches are like a ripple in the water; blending and mixing to create a beautiful harmony.
Others are like a splash. They transform people s lives with grace, mercy, and forgiveness; they bring
people closer. When one thinks of a mission trip, what is the general assumed illustration? A group of
Christians reconstructing non believers into religious disciples? Churches being built so that
worshippers have someplace to go to interact with Christ? For me, a mission trip can be that or
something small, like we seemed to do while recently visiting Southern Africa. Visiting South Africa
provided an extraordinary experience for me. One thing I realized is how Christians can change the
world by working together, rather than as an individual not that they ... Show more content on

What is the purpose of this when we can just read scriptures or listen to preachers from the comfort of
our homes? Be that as it may, Christians go to church in order to come together and to try to help each
other mentally, physically, emotionally, and spiritually. We go to church for fellowship, discipleship,
and for evangelism. Evangelism is all about spreading the gospel to the world, which the church helps
to do firsthand. The gospel has a lot of teachings, but they cannot all be summed up by the church. In
Africa, my eyes were opened to the realization that schools and hospital can also help partake in
making the world a better place. While I was aware of this when in states, I was also partially blinded.
In my hometown, especially when sickness happens, I have so often seen Jesus be dismissed when
illness occurs; and while this may too be the case in some citizens in Africa, the stories that I heard in
regards to ailment where about faith and

Picasso Vs Velazquez
ZOOM
Velazquez and Picasso painted many of the same things. They have similarities as Picasso s are simply
new renditions of the original ones that were made by Velazquez. They also have differences because
Picasso had a very different art style from Velazquez. They had many paintings that were remade by
picasso years after to bring back the art of Velazquez the royal painter. That was just kind of Picasso s
style.Their paintings had a lot of differences. For example Velazquez painted many people helping out
the young princess. Picasso only had a one maid helping her with tasks. Velazquez has a very realistic
rendition while Picasso s is more abstract. Velazquez s looks almost like it was a picture of the event
taking place but Picasso s is very polygonal. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The two of them are of the same event taking place. They are also both supposed to get the same
thought across in their respective styles of doing so. Both paintings are named exactly the same thing.
Although their specialties may be different both artists painted this painting at their best with their
special strategies.I think that Velazquez was just trying to do his job and portray the real scene of
maids helping the princess with some tasks as he was supposed to. I think that Picasso was trying to
portray the same thing that Velazquez was trying to portray and he just wanted to put his own classic
abstract spin on the realistic painting by painting it in the style of his own paintings.. I think that
Velazquez decided that he was going to make this painting because it was his job and he liked to paint
portrayals of certain events happening with the royal family in their life. he just enjoyed his job it
seems and so he painted as many things of them as he possibly do. I think that Picasso made it because
part of what he does is repaint old paintings from past painters. He just liked to take something that
was a realistic painting and put his classic abstract spin on them to make his

The Progression Of Truths Within A Taxonomy
An Essay on the Progression of Truths in a Taxonomy To begin understanding whether or not science
progresses towards greater truths, truth must first be defined. It is the quality or state of conforming to
fact or reality.1 As such a greater truth is one which better conforms to reality. Through scientific
revolutions science progresses towards a taxonomy of greater truths. To accept this one must first
understand that truths exist in science, that there are greater truths which replace falsified truths, and
that science is continually building its way towards those greater truths through revolutions. For the
purpose of this essay a scientific revolution is as Kuhn describes the shift from one accepted paradigm
to a new one where a paradigm is considered a distinct set of concepts and theories. Science seeks to
discover and explain the objective realities of our world and universe through these concepts and
theories. Throughout history theories have been proposed, accepted, and replaced. This is the one
constant of science in the long run; that it is always improving upon itself; our bank of knowledge is
increasing. While there are periods of regression, today the world is definitively more scientifically
advanced then it was a millennia ago. But why is it that we consider todays accepted paradigms to be
true and the paradigms from antiquity false? The more we believe in a paradigms propositions and
depend on them for performing tasks in reality, the truer they become

Examples Of Beauty And Desolation In Frankenstein
Quote #1: I try in vain to be persuaded that the pole is the seat of frost and desolation; it ever presents
itself to my imagination as the region of beauty and delight (Shelley 3). Significance: The quote uses
conflicting diction of frost and desolation and beauty and delight to set the tone of the Arctic. The
diction in the quote also enforces the theme of extreme emotions. These emotions are what brings
Walton there, where he meets with Frankenstein and he is able to retell the story to his sister. Quote
#2: His limbs were nearly frozen, and his body dreadfully emaciated by fatigue and suffering (Shelley
17). Significance: In the Arctic, Frankenstein is suffering like the monster wanted him to, though the
monster does not suffer from the elements as much as humans do. The monster wanted him to feel the
pain and torment that he did in his desolation. Frankenstein s torture forced him to board Walton s
boat that would progress the plot and he would eventually die there due to weakness. Quote #3: ...had
pursued his journey across the sea in a direction that led to no land; and they conjectured that he
speedily be destroyed by the breaking of the ice, or frozen by the eternal frosts (Shelley 222).
Significance: The Arctic is the final place where Frankenstein pursues the dæmon. Much like the
Arctic is the final chase of Frankenstein, the Arctic was the final frontier of the 19th and early 20th
century due to its unforgivable weather and extreme

  • 4. Tigers Short Story Come on Tigers, I thought to myself. I was nervous, I did not want to have to deal with the disappointment of the Tigers losing and I was hoping it would go perfectly with them coming back to win the game. Then It was the bottom of the ninth bases loaded down by 2, with 2 outs. Everyone was on their feet as Ian Kinsler walked up to bat. Nerves were high Indians fans wanting him out Tigers fans wanting him to knock it out of the park. There was a 50% chance this came would end perfectly and 50% that it wouldn t. On the first pitch he swung and.......... Finally we climbed quickly out of our yellow Hummer H2,after I being stiff from the long car ride to Detroit. Finally we arrived at Comerica and I was astonished how amazing it looked. We played a dice game they had outside and my mom won a tigers cap. Then we decided to go into their memorabilia shop. There was not much good memorabilia because it was quite overpriced so we began to walk to our seats, which were in the upper bowl. When we arrived at our seats I realized there was a lot of Cleveland Indian fans by us, and that kind of annoyed me. I was looking for my favorite player Miguel Cabrera but he could not be found. I was confused because I thought he was supposed to be playing. Finally, they announced the starting lineups and I found out he was NOT playing. I was incredibly disappointed and quite upset. I exclaimed to my family I can t believe MIGGY isn t playing!!!!!!!! Parker responded to me WHAT!!!!!!!!????!?!?!?!!?! MIGGY isn t playing!?!?!?!!!!!!?!? This is ridiculous why are they not using their star player Miguel Cabrera!?! I asked. After that I turned and disappointedly watched the Tigers warmup. Already what I thought was a perfect night took a turn for the worse. Quite a bit of time passed and the game finally started. I was hoping we could get some hits off Kluber, the Indians star pitcher. My hopes crumpled like paper though, with the Indians scoring 4 runs already. The game got really boring and I gave up on watching it. As it got darker and darker, and I was getting bored of playing candy crush on my moms phone The ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 5. Chinese And United States Foreign Policy To: Empress Cixi From: UK diplomate Asiana Cooper Date: 30 January 1902 Chinese, English and United States China Foreign Policy in Asia This memo communicates my deepening anxieties about the broadening disparity in trade and commerce and a shift in the balance of military power between China, England and the United States. Since our last communique, the POTUS (President of the Unites States) McKinley has died. There s been a reversal of the Open Door Strategy since President s McKinley s assassination. President Roosevelt now commander and chief of America and has restructured a grand American vision for the U.S. to expand its authority far beyond her natural borders. The U.S. goal to spread its Washingtonian Gilded Age democracy through merchants and missionaries has ended and is now being transformed and driven by hegemony and empire building. The new POTUS and Secretary of State John Hay (former Ambassador to England) have implemented a strategy to make the building of the U.S military its number one national objective. We see this large scale military buildup as a threat to both England and China. English trade merchants rightly protest the U.S. devouring unfairly the lion s share of profits from China s commerce that has resulted in a profound shift in the balance of Pacific trade favorably towards the United States. England believes there are still greater plans by the U.S. to manipulate currencies to promote their quest to conquer the entire American and ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 6. Hypocritical Tendencies in Chaucer s Canterbury Tales Essay In the Canterbury Tales, Chaucer introduces a variety of characters with a multitude of personalities. From the despicable Summoner to the abrasive Miller, these characters are created with their own personalities and their own human failings. One common fault that characters share is hypocrisy. From pretending to be wealthy to cheating the poor out of money, hypocritical tendencies are abundant in the Canterbury Tales. Throughout the story, Chaucer ridicules the human criticizes the human failing of hypocrisy through the examples of the Pardoner, the Merchant, and the Friar. The Merchant portrays himself to be a financial expert in order to hide his poverty: This estimable Merchant so had set his wits to work, none knew he was in debt... (104, 289 290). Although the Merchant gives plenty of opinions on finances, he is a prime example of hypocrisy in that he gives advice that he cannot follow. The Friar is one of the biggest examples of hypocrisy in the story. Throughout the Friar s description, he is shown to take advantage of his position and shun his duties to benefit himself. Instead of conforming to the poor lifestyle of traditional friars, Chaucer s Friar manipulates people into giving him money and then pockets it for himself. One way he takes advantage of his position is by charging people for confessions: Sweetly he heard his penitents at shrift with pleasant absolution, for a gift (103, 225 226). He also makes money by being an excellent beggar, as shown in the quote: He was the finest beggar of his batch...For though a widow mightn t have a shoe, so pleasant was his holy how d ye do he got his farthing from her just the same... (103, 259 261). The Friar also rejects his duties by refusing to associate with the needy, as described in the passage: It was not fitting with the dignity of his position, dealing with a scum of wretched lepers; nothing good can come of dealings with the ... To Avergun, the people that would sink that low as to target their trafficking activity at those with the least ability to resist such offers, those are the people who deserve the most severe punishment. The Department of Justice cannot and will not tolerate this conduct in America, and that is why they stands firmly behind the intent of this legislation to increase the punishment meted out to drug offenders. The Department of Justice supports mandatory minimum sentences in appropriate circumstances, of course. Mandatory minimum sentencing statues can provide a level of uniformity and predictability that regular sentencing procedures cannot. Mandatory minimum sentencing discourages certain types of criminal behavior by broadcasting the potential consequences of committing those offenses. They can also keep dangerous offenders in prison for long periods of time, thereby increasing the public s safety. They also provide an important tool for prosecutors by providing defendants with a convincing incentive, that by cooperating with ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 8. The Devil Behind The Mirror Analysis In The Devil behind the Mirror, Steven Gregory studies the effects of tourism and globalization in the Dominican Republic, specifically the towns of Boca Chica and Andres near the capital of Santo Domingo. The first chapter analyses how the economy of the Dominican republic switched from a focus on the sugar industry to a focus on the growing urge for international tourism. One large aspect of the economy of the Dominican republic was the sugar industry, especially in the city of Andres. Gregory writes that, the sugar industry was a large source of income for the Dominican Republic. Gregory states, that as the mid to late 20th century continued, the sugar industry was not supporting the country s economy at all, so the economy began to switch its focus from the sugar industry in Andres to the increasing interest in international tourism in Boca Chica. Gregory makes an important point, that part of the push for the Dominican Republic to switch to an economic focus on tourism was caused by a push by the World Back to promote tourism as an economic panacea . Gregory quotes Malcolm Crick, who states, Tourism was represented as an easy option for development because it relied largely on natural resources already in place e.g. sand, sun, friendly people and therefore required no vast capital outlays for infrastructure. This shift in the Dominican Republic took off because it seemed like a very easy way for the country to develop economically and make themselves known on a ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

McMurty mentions, the summer of 1875, Lt. Col. George Armstrong Custer revealed the presence of gold in the Black Hills in front of the whole nation, which made the government regret their agreement of giving the Black Hills and other lands to the Sioux. The whites from the peace party and many other parties, didn t like it, and said that the government at least try to honor the agreement, especially, which was announced publicly in 1868. After some point Custer realized that the Indians weren t running away, in fact, they intend to kill him. Although, Custer knew that he had entered the valley of death, but he kept fighting, but he enjoyed himself till his last breathe. For Custer s men s were so exhausted after that long journey they were barely in the position to stand, they had only tiredness, horror, and death. As for Maj. Reno he could have charged the Indians, which could have resulted in disarray, but he didn t. Hence, Indians chased him to the Little Big Horn where he hardly survived. The entry of Crazy Horse is still not confirmed, some say he seized Custer on the high ground, but it was Gall, the Hunkpapa warrior, and his men were successful in turning Reno back and harassed Custer so badly that the 7Th Cavalry; the soldiers, never create any position. Gall lost two of his wife and three of his children, he got out his anger and grief by killing Custer. A Hunkpapa, Bad Soup, also says by pointing towards his Custer s body that how foolish he was assuming him to be the most powerful man. • 10. The Era Of The 1920s The 1920s was a pivotal era in women s fashion an era that saw Prohibition, Jazz and celebration of war s end. Gone was the hourglass figure of the 19th Century, swept away by the World War I, and replaced by the figure of a modern, independent woman. This book covers fashions from 1920 to 1924, an often overlooked period of fashion which was a time of transition between the draped and layered fashions of the post World War I era and the free and easy gowns of the jazz age flapper. Before the Roaring Twenties, women were still wearing floor length dresses with corsets, and crinolines, arms and legs were covered, hair was long. This Gibson girl look was set the standard for beauty, fashion and manner. And the Victorian attitudes toward dress and etiquette created a strict moral climate. Until 1920s things changed quickly, the women was given the right to vote, they began to attend college. The Equal Rights Amendment was proposed in 1923. The World War I was over and men wanted their jobs back. Throughout the history there are many ways of transportation, such as road, boat, airplane that only appeared around last century, etc. People use these tools to transport goods or themselves from one destination to another. Even though different vehicles provide different speed and volume for transportation, the most common and beneficial route is the land route. The dominant way of transportation on land is always the train. The train not only can travel at a high speed it can also carry many things. Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Under the influences from the Europeans, American began developing its own railroad system. With the vast amount of land available, the Americans were able to build railroads with far larger scale than those built in Europe. The earliest railways in the United States were just like those earlier railroads in Europe. They were short, wooden railways built by quarries and mines along which horses pulled loads to nearby water ways. In the 1827, the mine and quarry operators built the first full size railways. In 18329, the first locomotive for the railroads was imported from Europe. Although some Americans such as Horatio Allen had been experiencing with locomotives, their locomotives were proved to be too heavy for the tracks that had been constructed and was subsequently abolished. ( Railroads. Dictionary of American History) The railroad era in America truly began in the 1830s when Peter Cooper s locomotive, Tom Thumb, first steamed along 13 miles (21 km) of Baltimore and Ohio railroad track. (Rail transport, Early railroads in the US, Wikipedia) Tom Thumb traveled at speeds approaching fifteen miles per hour while pulling a car filled with thirty people. This led the beginning of train transportation of human not minerals or ore. However, not until the 1850s, though, did railroads offer long distance service at reasonable rates. Not only the Baltimore and Ohio Railroad was the first carry passengers but also the first to evolve from a single line to a network in the United States. Railroads were connected to each other between some cities. However, in order to get from one city to another, the passengers had to transfer train multiple times. The Pros and Cons of the Criminalization of Pornography The Pros and Cons of the Criminalization of Pornography Americans were alternatively shocked, alarmed and delighted when Marilyn Monroe appeared on the cover of the first Playboy magazine in 1953. Since that time, the debate over pornography has become increasingly heated, due in large part to critics who argue that the medium debases women and teaches young people the wrong lessons about human sexuality. To gain some fresh insights about these issues, this paper provides a review of the relevant peer reviewed and scholarly literature to determine whether pornography should be criminalized in the same fashion and for the same reasons that hate speech is criminalized. A summary of the research and important findings concerning these issues are provided in the conclusion. Review and Discussion The issue of pornography has long been the source of controversy for many Western societies, particularly with respect to its implications for gender roles and sexuality (Lofgren Martenson Mansson, 2010). For instance, according to Griffith and Adams (2012), Issues regarding the production and consumption of pornographic materials continue to be an intensely debated social topic (p. 245). Needs and preferences must be ascertained, someone will ultimately be compelled to make a choice, and more often than not, others will be forced to make sacrifices and may become indignant that their preferences were not honored. The decision to partition India was not a simple decision, but, in fact, the very opposite of that; India was in a state of such mayhem that it seemed as if it would be impossible to come up with the perfect solution. Eventually, the British government was forced to partition India and virtually everyone was forced to make dire sacrifices. As India was divided into the nation of Pakistan and the Republic of India, it is not an understatement to suggest that millions of lives were overturned. However, when accurately trying to understand the Indian Partition and its effect, historical accounts often focus solely on prominent figures and overlook the experience and perspectives of the millions at the ground level. Not only would studying the viewpoints and experiences of ordinary people bring forth a very different sense of history, but it is important to wholly understand the Partition as well. By considering this aspect of history, this evaluation will demonstrate that, by ignoring non elites interpretations and experiences, historians omitted key elements of the story. Government officials quickly scrambled to calm the mass panic which resulted in the speedy passing of the Patriot Act. The Patriot, or what is more formally known as the Providing Appropriate Tools Required to Intercept and Obstruct Terrorism act, was established to provide the government with the implements it needed to stop terrorists operating on American soil. While the Patriot Act does have an important goal of obstructing terrorism, it achieves this goal at the expense of our individual liberties given to us by the Constitution. Firstly, the Patriot Act violates the Fourth Amendment to the United States Constitution by allowing the government to conduct secret searches of citizens property undermining the amendment s principle of search and seizure only with a warrant. The Fourth Amendment protects us from searches and seizures without a warrant or probable cause. However, sections of the Patriot Act can be seen undermining this American prerogative. The American Civil Liberties Union explains, Section 213 of the Patriot Act justifies the allowance of secret searches. Secret searches permit the government to search the owner s private property without having to notify them (ACLU). To call art a mirror image of nature would imply that art including film shows all things exactly as they are in real life. The Progression Of Truths Within A Taxonomy An Essay on the Progression of Truths in a Taxonomy To begin understanding whether or not science progresses towards greater truths, truth must first be defined. It is the quality or state of conforming to fact or reality.1 As such a greater truth is one which better conforms to reality. Through scientific revolutions science progresses towards a taxonomy of greater truths. To accept this one must first understand that truths exist in science, that there are greater truths which replace falsified truths, and that science is continually building its way towards those greater truths through revolutions. For the purpose of this essay a scientific revolution is as Kuhn describes the shift from one accepted paradigm to a new one where a paradigm is considered a distinct set of concepts and theories. This is the one constant of science in the long run; that it is always improving upon itself; our bank of knowledge is increasing. While there are periods of regression, today the world is definitively more scientifically advanced then it was a millennia ago. Examples Of Beauty And Desolation In Frankenstein Quote #1: I try in vain to be persuaded that the pole is the seat of frost and desolation; it ever presents itself to my imagination as the region of beauty and delight (Shelley 3). Significance: The quote uses conflicting diction of frost and desolation and beauty and delight to set the tone of the Arctic. The diction in the quote also enforces the theme of extreme emotions. These emotions are what brings Walton there, where he meets with Frankenstein and he is able to retell the story to his sister. The monster wanted him to feel the pain and torment that he did in his desolation. Frankenstein s torture forced him to board Walton s boat that would progress the plot and he would eventually die there due to weakness. Quote #3: ...had pursued his journey across the sea in a direction that led to no land; and they conjectured that he speedily be destroyed by the breaking of the ice, or frozen by the eternal frosts (Shelley 222).
