Marilyn Manson Research Paper
For my paper I thought I would look into someone who was daring and has always kept people
guessing. He has become highly known for his outrageous outfits and on stage frolics, both have
earned him a legion of fans and just as many protesters. Marilyn Manson, born Brian Hugh Warner on
January 5, 1969, in Canton, Ohio, has been one of the most controversial American goth rock
performer that has been protested and boycotted because of his perceived dark views. Yet genius in his
own right. A well known singer and performer. Marilyn Manson combined the names of Marilyn
Monroe and Charles Manson for his stage name. In its own right deserves some questioning. Warner
had a tough childhood, grew up in private schools and was molested several times

How Did The Great Debate Pros And Cons
The Great Debates The political debates amongst Nixon and Kennedy assume a gigantic part in TV
history, and the historical backdrop of America. It formed the way that we run our political races
today. The politics debate being aired on television enabled individuals to see the character and
activities of both candidates. During these televised debates, various viewers saw Kennedy s self
assurance and how well put together he was. But then on the other hand, Nixon had a harder time and
gave off a frightful vibe to the viewers who were watching the debated. Individuals who watched it on
TV felt Kennedy won the debate, while the individuals who tuned in to the radio felt Nixon won. This
point is important, essential, and identified with television

lawyer and I have always been interested in her line of work. I plan to work and or intern at her office
or at another law office my senior year of high school and in college. Being a lawyer is appealing to
me because I like to help people and defend them. This career will cover what you will need to go
through to become a lawyer, the types of law you can practice, and the duties of a lawyer. As a lawyer
it is your job to prepare and file legal documents, represent your client in court, and provide legal

St Patrick s Day Essay
10 Things You Did Not Know About St. Patrick s Day
St. Patrick s Day is a day where we celebrate the Irish heritage and it is often known as the day when
non Irish people are Irish for a day . For a lot of people it is an excuse to have a good time and dress
up in green clothes, drink green beer and drinks or dress up like a full fledged leprechaun. Most
people do not know the true meaning of the day nor why more exactly it is celebrated. Here are ten
things I bet you didn t know about St. Patrick s Day.
March 17th The death day of Patrick
March 17th is the day when Patrick died. St. Patrick is a saint of the Catholic Church and March 17th
is his holy day; the day he died and went to heaven. He spent his life converting pagans of Ireland ...

Patrick s Day has a strong political history
In the middle of the 19th century the Irish suffered from discrimination much like that of the African
Americans. In some cases the prejudice against the Irish was fiercer even. The Irish immigrated in
great numbers to the US and due to their culture, Catholic faith and the poor conditions in Ireland they
were considered to be potentially disloyal and were thus treated very poorly. As a way to battle this
they began organizing themselves politically and by the end of the 19th century St. Patrick s Day was
a grand holiday for the Irish as well as a day for them to demonstrate their political and social might.
The political purpose of the holiday faded along with the discrimination but to this day the holiday
remains as a day full of festivities for everyone regardless of one s cultural background.
Up until 1970 St Patrick s Day was a sober holiday in Ireland
The colour green and drinking are two to things most associated with St. Patrick s Day however due to
Irish law all the pubs were shut during that day. That meant neither beer nor alcohol of any kind for
the celebrants. The law was changed in 1970 when it was reclassified as a national holiday with all

The Ancient Egyptian History And Culture
The history of Ancient Egypt is one of the most highly admired and studied cultures of all the past
world civilizations. The fascination of the sphinx and the questioning of the pyramids have typically
led archeologists to devote their time and efforts into unraveling the mysteries and figuring out the
ways of the Egyptian culture. However, some may argue that the alluring aspect of the Ancient
Egyptian history and culture is mummification. Some people bury their dead in the ground so that
their soul can carry on to heaven while their body turns to dust. Others chose to burn the body and
reduce it to ashes that are either kept in memorial or are dispersed. The Egyptians, on the other hand,
believed in a different way of life after death and the burial of the body. They desired to preserve the
remains as a basic element for survival after death, as well as the journey into the afterlife. With such
exotic funerary process, the Egyptians created a view as being a morbid, death obsessed society.
Mummification played a major role in Ancient Egyptian s religious belief of life after death, but the
process of this unique burial and display of the corpse differed depending on the time period the ritual
was performed. EVOLUTION To the Egyptians, the preservation of the body was a fundamental asset
to the continuation of life after death. The process of mummification evolved over many decades,
becoming more of a dominate ritual in their ancient culture. The beginning of

The Grandmother In A Good Man Is Hard To Find
O Connor s succeeds to bring out his arguments in this short story to sum up the feeling that in today s
world, societal morals and values have drastically crumbled making the world an inhabitable place.
INTRODUCTION
The author presents his main theme of fate by bringing the reader to a family s holiday which is
unfortunately brought to a sudden end by a murder (O Connor 36). The grandmother argues that the
family should go to Tennessee instead of Florida. Her insistence makes the family to deviate from the
right path in an attempt to look for a fake treasure. The rebelliousness the family exhibits is a sign of
moral decadence. The grandmother s decision makes the family appear like it admires the Misfit. At
the beginning of the story, the ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
He uses personalities like Misfit to support it. This propping up is evidenced by the use the
grandchildren and Jesus. In the story, the old woman says that she could go with her children
anywhere and could give answer to her consciousness if possible. Finally, this lady comes into a
situation where she tries to give answers to her conscience by frustratingly assuming that Misfit is not
a bad person. Misfit on the other hand insists that indeed he is a bad person (O Connor 36). Misfit
compares himself to Jesus where he says that Jesus suffered for other people s sins just the same way
he got punished for mistakes he never did. The theme that a good man is hard to find undoubtedly
refers to Jesus. This is because Misfit tries to compare himself to Jesus but he finally commits a
murder. The old woman s shaky faith in Jesus is over. By Jesus not delivering her shows that indeed a
good man is hard to

Mount Rainier Research Paper
Mount Rainier is one of the most dangerous volcanic eruptions since it is still active and threatens the
surrounding area. Mount Rainier is a stratovolcano at Cascade Volcanic Arc.
By exploring the plate tectonic setting of the volcano from the website of Mozier and Graham, we can
aware that it is a subduction of the North America Plate and Juan de Fuca Plate (Mozier., Graham). In
addition, the stratovolcano has characteristics of high viscosity, volatile and large volume. So Mount
Rainier will have a relative explosive eruption. According to the research which made by USGS, we
can clearly know that there are two eruption types which are lava producing and explosive debris
producing are alternatively taking place (National Park Service). Due to the feature of activeness, it
will make Mount Rainier dangerous. Moreover, the last recent eruption of Mount Rainier happened in

A Parliamentary Spirit Of Discovery Persuasive Speech
A Renewed Spirit of Discovery was the title of President Bush s speech for his vision of new Space
Exploration. Since the debate was given on January 14, 2004, it has produced viable concerns from
those who support and oppose the initiative. Arguments for and against it have appeared in all types of
media, and more importantly in the minds of Americans. This Literature Review will discuss many of
these beliefs in order to achieve a well rounded, objective analysis of the issue. But before any
opinions are put forth, it is always important to talk about the relative facts.
Why put forth a new vision?
Over past 30 years, it is hard to say that we have explored space. It is more appropriate to say we have
conquered manned flight in Earth s lower orbit. Truly, the Apollo Missions to the moon, which ended
in the mid 70 s, was also the end to Manned Space. We have continued to build satellites and space
stations to orbit the earth, and robots and satellites to explore Mars and Deep Space. By proposing to
put humans on the Moon and Mars, the President has not changed our manned space exploration
policy; he has created one.
President George W. Bush proposed a new age in Space Exploration on January 14, 2004. The Space
Shuttle Columbia disaster was only part of his reasoning for announcing a new direction for NASA. A
reason not as well known is the current lack of any direction for NASA. Other than sending probes
and robots to Deep Space and Mars, NASA has continued to

In the hit song She Said, She Said, there s a line that goes, I gotta get you in my life . Some fans may

Descriptive Essay About Tattoos
Coco
This wonderful idea all started when I was around 15. This was maybe one of my less great ideas, but
I really liked the thought of me having a tattoo.Yea that s right, I said that I wanted a tattoo! At the
time I kept begging and asking my mom to allow me to get a tattoo, I asked her if I could get this
tattoo when I turned 16. After a week of me asking her, she finally said yes, but the only condition was
that I had to pay for it. LIttle did I know that she only said this to keep me quiet.
As soon as my 16th birthday came around I felt joy inside because I was finally getting something that
i ve been wanting for a long time , but once again, my mom showed her true colors and said no. She
told me to wait until summer , fortunately this time she was for real. So as soon as summer arrived, I
was already looking for a place to get a tattoo called Johnny s Tattoos; The Place Of Regret. Not this
place, but tattoos in general are famous for having an effect on how people with them are viewed and
even how they are judged.People have viewed other people with lots of tattoos as someone who is not
fit for the workplace or simply just insane.I made an appointment a week after I got my first paycheck.
After waiting for what felt like 1000s of years my appointment date was here. Therefore I went to the

the word everyone wants to understand the meaning of, so there is a hunt to find the meaning of the

The camera shoots the shot through the paper weight as the nurse comes in.
These direction techniques create a lot of tension because up to the point where the word Rosebud
comes out of Kane s mouth there is a lot of tension and suspense because we are wondering who is
behind the castle, and the camera doesn t give anything away. And to create further tension and a man
says Rosebud and we have no clues. In the second sequence we find out more about Kane himself,
exactly how important he was. In the second sequence we find out Kane is globally well known as
newspapers all over the world wrote his death as front page news. We also find that he was in politics,
the media and into forestry and doubled ownership. Kan s image is his biggest selling point. In this
sequence we find out that Rosebud was Kane s last words, and that someone s last word could say a
lot about the person.
Rosebud sets up the narrative motivation in that the audience and Mr Thompson want to know what
the meaning behind Rosebud is, what was on Kane s mind at his last breath. There is a brief mention
of sled to give the audience another subtle clue. Rosebud sets up the structure in that Thompson, the
man in charge of Kane s life story is now on the search of the meaning of Rosebud. I think Thompson

Oswald Chest Cobblepot In Gotham
Gotham, a crime show, has a cast of interesting archetypes who contribute to the show in their own
ways. One such character is Oswald Chesterfield Cobblepot, who is the former umbrella man of Fish
Mooney, a crime lady of Gotham (the city). He is also a wingman of Salviatore Maroni, who is a mob
boss in Gotham. Lastly, he is a spy for Carmine Falcone, who is the head of the Gotham City mobs
and the underworld boss. Oswald Cobblepot, nicknamed The Penguin, because of his penguin style

the king of Gotham. Essentially, this is the transition from being a trickster to the villain who would

his savior or to betray the one who gave him new life and struggles to answer this question. Oswald
Cobblepot is a trickster and because of his ability to deceive people to meet his ends, his biggest

Analysis Of Papyrus Original Writing
OH! HUMAN! I M VERY SORRY! Papyrus yelped and rushed over to you, a wash cloth in his
gloved hand.
The kitchen walls were covered in red (You guessed it was sauce) and a boiling pot of water sat on the
stove, with several boxes of empty boxes of pasta sitting dangerously close to the flame.
He started to rub the sauce off your face, getting incredibly close. You felt your cheeks flushed at the
proximity.
HU (Y/N)? ARE YOU ALRIGHT? YOUR FACE IS INCREDIABLY RED, ARE YOU SICK?
Papyrus slipped a glove off and placed the back of his hand on your forehead.
I I m okay, I p promise! You managed to get out. Papyrus stepped away from you and opened his
mouth to speak but from behind him you saw smoke.
Papyrus! Fire! You yelped and pushed past the skeleton, you and began running over to the stove and
cabinet which were in flames. A box had caught fire and ignited the rest of them which in turn caught
the cabinets on fire.
Instinctively you grabbed the pot of boiling water and flung it onto the fire, sending scalding water
and pasta all over the kitchen and onto you. You felt an intense pain shoot through your hands as the
water splashed onto you, yelping, you jumped back only to slip on the water.
You closed your eyes and braced yourself for impact with the ground but it never came.

Carry Concealed Weapons
There have been at least two school shootings a month in 2015. Of the 52 shootings, 21 have been at
colleges and universities, 15 at high schools, three at middle schools, 10 at elementary schools, two at
preschools, and one on a school bus (52 School Shootings 1). With all these school shootings, why
wouldn t you want to carry a gun? Guns can protect people. If a shooter confronts a person and they
see that person is armed they might think twice about what they are doing. Shouldn t you feel some
sort of protection and self defense if you have a gun? Even though some say teachers and students
should not carry concealed weapons, they should be allowed to carry concealed weapons on college
campuses because of self defense, protection, and it ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Fernandez claims that, Supporters say it will make college campuses safer by not preventing licensed
gun owners from defending themselves and possibly saving lives should a mass shooting occur, such
as the one that unfolded at Virginia Tech University in 2007 (Fernandez 1). If someone wants to
protect themselves why would you want to stop them? If they are trained and responsible and could
possibly save lives would you want to be the person to stop them and say no? For example, say a
student sees a problem going on in the parking lot of the campus. And the student knows they can stop
it because they have a weapon in their car. The student can then grab the gun and try to stop the
problem before it gets out of hand. Your car is an extension of your home. This provides safety for
college campuses because they know that the students and teachers carrying those weapons are
responsible and trained and can possibly save lives if a shooting were to occur there.
Out of all of the school shootings that happen a year, there are at least two a month. School shootings
can happen anywhere at any time, like preschools, high schools, elementarys. This is why teachers and
students should carry concealed weapons. Teachers and students should be able to carry weapons
because it is a way for self defense, protection, and safety. As can be seen, teachers and students
should be allowed to carry on college

Melissa Khang
Bellevue University Abstract
With the challenges that we, as the human race, have faced, we have also endured and conquered
some of the easiest and most of the hardest issues that had risen in the past. With more opportunities
opening up, there will also come more challenges. In Martin Luther King s speech I Have a Dream, he
was able to express the way he feels toward having the dream that one day everyone shall be united as
one. By using repetition in the power of words, dedication and hard work, and other variables thrown
in the mix of the speech, King was able to empower the people to make a stand and fight for the
opportunity of equality and freedom. Keywords: Martin Luther King, I Have a Dream, speeches,

of the Best Speeches I Have a Dream
With the many difficult challenges that the human race has so far faced, the lack of civil rights and
inequalities has divided our nation into conflicts of racial segregation. Not only did these conflicts
bring forth fear, aggression, ignorance, and violence into our nation, it has also been the cause for
many deaths and injuries of our past ancestors. With Martin Luther King, he had a dream that this
madness would all end one day in order for

Historical And Cultural Background Of The Guyanese...
According to the Guyanese Statistic Bureau British Guiana (Guyana) consists of a rich historical and
cultural background. It is a country which today is over 83,000 square miles in size with its capital
located on the Demerara River. British Guiana is located in northern South America, with
approximately 90% of its square miles undeveloped and the vast majority of its inhabitants living
along a ten mile strip of the coast, this coastal area mainly inhabited by and containing the highest
population of Creole speakers (Holbrook 2001) .
According to Holbrook, The social situation in British Guiana is complex due to several factors, these
being the colonial history of the country, the importation of African Slaves, the political history, and
even government policies . British Guiana s population made up of indigenous American Indians,
descendents of European colonizers, African Slaves, East Indians, Chinese and Indonesian indentured
servants. All of which have all resulted in several languages being spoken within in this country;
however the two which are most widely used are English and Guyanese Creole English which is a
Creole language spoken by over 700,000 people. According to research done within the last five years,
this country is characterized as having a multiracial population with those of Indian decent
representing 43% of the population, African decent over 30 %, Amerindians decent over 9% , and
people of mixed heritage rounding up at over 16% . However,

Van Gogh Depression And Depression
Van Gogh and Depression I am so angry with myself because I cannot do what I should like to do, and
at such a moment one feels as if one were lying bound hand and foot at the bottom of a deep dark
well, utterly hopeless, said Vincent Van Gogh in a letter to his brother (Popova). This is how some
people who suffer from depression feel on a day to day basis, but not every case is the same. Because
people who have depression are all affected in different ways, it is often misunderstood. Depression is
not as simple as one may think. It is more than just feeling sad sometimes or having a bad day.
Depression, the most common form of mental illness, is actually a brain disorder caused by an
imbalance of chemicals in the brain (Hyde and Forsyth 6). There are many causes of depression
including stressful life events like the loss of a loved one or physical or mental abuse (Mooney 16 17,
19). Depression can also be hereditary, meaning it is passed down genetically through families (Hyde
and Forsyth 21). Numerous types of depression exist, but the three most common ones are major
depression, manic depression, and dysthymia (Mooney 9 11). Symptoms of depression vary greatly. If
someone starts isolating themselves, losing interest in hobbies, having trouble concentrating, skipping
classes, and/or using drugs and alcohol, they may be suffering from depression (Mooney 24 25). Other
mental symptoms are frequently feeling sad, empty, hopeless, or worthless; being more restless and

Emerson Mastery
Ralph Waldo Emerson makes a reasonable point when he says that if we can t expand past what we
know, we cannot advance ourselves. While this is true, it is quite broad and should specify what sort
of mastery and growth. What would mastery consist of? Can we truly master anything? What if we
have no need to grow, if we are content having the one mastery? Does one need a mastery to want to
learn more? His statement may be true under certain conditions or if revised to include such outliers,
but as it is, the specifications are too loose. Mastery can present itself in many forms, it isn t concrete.
There isn t just the big milestone where you take a photo and receive a certificate for achievement,

That dog didn t try to reach outside its current level to let the humans know it needed to go out, it was
a reflex response, though it has learned that the bark gets it outside. It has grown without pushing
itself to achieve more. Completely learning something has to happen in stages so that it can be fully
absorbed, so having one mastery before moving to something else is important but some occur at the
same time for better understanding of each as they relate to another. Its like a Chemistry class, you
learn how to completely do one basic formula and what it means before you can move to the next. In a
Chemistry class, you may also learn separate parts at the same time because they tie together later on.
It may seem all over the place but once you get to the end of that class, you have many small
masteries and you have mastered the class as a whole. Emerson also assumes that everyone wants to
expand upon themselves and to experience more, but this is untrue. Often, it is unnecessary to go
beyond what a job or course requires, so people won t push themselves because they don t feel a need
to do so. An old man who has been working in an auto body shop all his life won t see a need to go

Meno Essay
There is not a great deal of context that is crucial to understanding the essential themes of the Meno,
largely because the dialogue sits nearly at the beginning of western philosophy. Socrates and Plato are
working not so much in the context of previous philosophies as in the context of the lack of them.
Further, this is very probably one of Plato s earliest surviving dialogues, set in about 402 BCE (by
extension, we might presume that it represents Socrates at a relatively early stage in his own thought).
Nonetheless, in order to understand the aims and achievements of the dialogue, it helps to keep in
mind some details about this lack of previous philosophies.
Since neither virtue nor any other concept has yet been defined in the way ... Show more content on

If Meno is something of a dummy for aristocratic Sophist sympathizers, Anytus is even more clearly a
stand in for the somber, unconsidered values of the Athenian political elite. An actual historical
politician of the time, he s grumpy, largely closed to new ideas, and insistent on inherited, class based
customs as the vehicle for virtue he suggests that any quot;gentleman quot; on the streets of Athens is
a fine example of virtue. Anytus, an Athenian conservative, despises the Sophists. Like other
prominent Athenians at the time, he is probably suspicious of the Sophists cleverness with words and
their tendency to lead young followers away from success in worldly matters. Socrates encounters this
idea that philosophy is a corrupting influence in many of his dialogues, and that perception will
eventually lead to his trial and execution for quot;corrupting the youth. quot; Thus, Plato is all the
more determined to highlight Socrates profound differences from the Sophists.
We should note briefly the basic form of the Platonic dialogues: Plato, Socrates student, has written a
kind of play, re enacting the way in which Socrates practiced his philosophy (he did not write it down,
but simply argued on the streets). In reading the summary contained on this site, it may not always be
clear that Socrates is constantly asking questions of Meno, and only rarely offering

Pedagogic Design And Second Language Acquisition
The Effectiveness of the Pedagogic Design and the Implementation of Computer Assisted Language
Learning in relation to Second Language Acquisition
Second Language Acquisition or SLA is a term used to describe learning a second language. There are
a number of ways in which one can learn a second language, and in this essay I am going to discuss
the links and relationship between second language acquisition and computer assisted language
learning, with particular focus on the pedagogical aspects. The most obvious approach to learning a
second language is undoubtedly through the Pedagogic Design, or learning from a teacher in a
structured classroom environment. Computer Assisted Language Learning is another commonly used
resource for language learning, and this is regularly referred to as CALL. The ... Show more content

It originates from the general learning theory of Constructionism. It is a very learner centred method
in Second Language Acquisition. Basically, the student s previous knowledge is expanded on and
mentally constructed into new knowledge. The creative construction theory is often referred to as the
Naturalistic Approach to second language acquisition. This theory complements that of Noam
Chomsky, an American linguist and language theorist who believes that children are born with an
inherited ability to learn any human language. He claims that many constructions in language, which
children use so precisely, must be already imprinted on the child s mind. Chomsky believes that every
child s brain has a language acquisition device , which is the reason that children acquire their first
language so effortlessly. Second language acquisition in relation to the creative construction theory is
an entirely internal process and unlike other SLA theories, it is not necessary that the learner speaks or

Erik Erikson s Developmental Theory Essay

Erikson is a famous German born American psychologist, who developed his own psychoanalytical
developmental theory. This developmental theory was aimed to identify the steps a developing human
should to pass from infancy to adulthood. Erikson identified eight steps of the psychological
development. The ideas of Erikson were heavily influenced by an Austrian psychologist Sigmund
Freud, who also analyzed the human psychological development and identified psychosexual stages of
development. However, Erikson did not emphasize the predominant role of sexual development in
psychological development. He argued that the role of culture and society on a human was the most
significant factor which through the evolution separated human psychological development from the
development of animals. Erikson writes that there are conflicts which take place within ego and they
are usually caused by external factors (society, culture, etc.) Thus, according to Erikson, a human
successfully completes the stage when he resolves the main conflict within his ego. (McLeod) Erikson
develops his ideas basing on the idea that biological and social nature coexist in each person and each
psychological crisis at the end of each life stage reveals a conflict between social and biological forces
of a human. Reconciliation of these two identities leads to the harmonious psychological development.

INTRODUCTION: In order to understand the concept of copyright infringement first we need to
know about intellectual property and laws that are under intellectual property. Intellectual property is
the property that is the invention or a creative work by one s own idea or knowledge. There is law that
protects this intellectual property by giving some restrictions to the persons who use it; these laws are
called copyright laws. When a person who is using the creative work of another person and when that
person crosses any limit and opposes copyright law, then it is called copyright infringement. Some

Analysis Of The Vertical Video Revolution By Dan Kois
The video, The Vertical Video Revolution, narrated by Dan Kois presents a series of supports and
objections to Kois hypothesis that the wide frame video creates a better medium for cinematic art than
vertical video. After some comedic editing and a brief description of the growing use of vertical video,
Kois poses the question: What is the art in vertical video? Kois gives a few examples of vertical video
s current usage and raises concern about this vertical video viewing generation. His main concern is
that if this generation is accustomed to vertical videos on their smartphones and tablets, then
Hollywood will try to cash in on viewer preferences and create vertical films. From the two minute
point to circa minute six, Kois presents his argument, which has three central points: 1)the spectacle of
theater can only be fully captured horizontally, 2) the space on a horizontal screen allows a visible
connection between two characters which the vertical screen cannot capture, and 3)the horizontal
screen has room for multiple individuals to be presented simultaneously, while when done so
vertically, the screen seems overcrowded. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The last segment of the video is a rebuttal against his argument. The rebuttal mainly points to the
changing nature of the cinematic medium and that Kois, himself, might be like the individuals who
said that the use of sound or color would not be effective in films, clutching on to past modes of
expression while a better, more expressive form exists. For example, The Grand Budapest Hotel
beautifully uses a vertical aspect ratio to create an implied meaning, so an artistically rich vertical
filming technique is

Three Major Factors Of The European Colonies In The New World
Beginning in the 17th century, European settlers began migrating and colonializing the New World
discovered by Christopher Columbus, centuries earlier. The process of colonialization was brutal, it
sparked native resistance, and overtime, created tension with Europe. There were several differences
between the colonies that were established. However, the motivation to colonialize the New World
remained the same for most colonies. Three major factors contributed to the beginning colonies in the
17th century; God, gold, and glory. Many issues were rising in Europe, including religious intolerance.
Citizens were not free to worship whatever they pleased, they had to abide by the rules and laws of the
Church. Political instability, and economic developments were also contributing factors to emigration.
The promise of new gold and new trade also sparked interest amongst rulers. Recordings from earlier
periods revealed new jewels that the Indigenous People owned. The small amount of writing from this
period also suggests that rulers thought of new trade possibilities. Of course, the biggest factor was
glory. Spain, Portugal, France, Britain, and other countries were constantly trying to compete for
dominance. The thought of new territory to conquer and claim in the New World sparked major
emigration. Global dominance and power was a goal that Europeans had in mind, and the New World
was the promise land. English colonies could be categorized in three groups; royal colonies,

Location Of Statcom For Power Flow Control
Location of STATCOM for Power Flow Control Dr..Neelakantappa, Narasapur, Hyderabad.,India
Dr.AmjanShaik Narasapur, Hyderabad.,India ABSTRACT: Power flow control in a long transmission
line plays a vital role in electrical power system. This paper uses the shunt connected STATCOM for
the control of voltage and power flow. The proposed device is used in different locations such as
sending end, middle and receiving end of the transmission line. The PWM control is used to generate
the firing pulses of the controller circuit. Simulation modeling of the system is carried out using
MATLAB/SIMULINK. Based on a voltage source converter, the STATCOM regulates system voltage
by absorbing or generating reactive power. This paper deals with a cascaded multilevel converter
model, which is a 48 pulse (three levels) GTO converter. The simulation studies are carried for
sending end, middle and receiving end of the transmission line. The objective is to define the reactive
power generated and voltage control at different locations (at sending end, middle, receiving end) of
transmission line using STATCOM. KEYWORDS: FACTS device, STATCOM, SVC, PWM,

Boys And Girls Club Reflection Paper
The Boys and Girls Club had a different atmosphere, compared to the Child Study Center. When I

Spread Of Disinformation Essay
The spread of Disinformation and urban can be the cause of distress and anxiety within a society.
Falsified stories can result in the change of the collective behaviours of a community having a
negative impact upon it (Bartholomew and Victor 2004). Most of these instances pass without much
documentation and like folklore they seem only to be passed through oral communication (Bell 2009).
The impact of false information on a society can be more damaging than the simple belief in
something that has never existed, or come to pass. Generally, when this type of information first
surfaces in the media it is considered factual. In the instance of a well developed hoax, it can take time
for authorities and the media to gather the correct information. ... Show more content on

However entertainment broadcast via radio lead to one of the most famous spreads of disinformation
experienced. This broadcast went on to cause distress to many members of society. The first broadcast

listeners, instead it caused widespread fear when it s intended audience thought the story was a the
factual telling of an alien invasion. Many people called their local police departments to confirm what
they had heard, panic moved rapidly throughout America (Bartholomew and Radford 2011, 19). The
fear experienced by the people of America spread with great speed, however it is interesting to note
that the event did not cause the mass hysteria that most perceived had occurred, and it was later
decided that the event did not cause mass hysteria, simple a shared sense of fear (Bartholomew and

The Theme Of Marriage In James Joyce s The Boarding House
The Boarding House is a short story by James Joyce published in his 1914 collection Dubliners. In the
short story The Boarding House the theme marriage is explored as it offers promise and profit on one
hand, but entrapment and loss on the other. What began as a simple affair becomes a tactical game of
obligation, manipulation, and reparation. Mrs. Mooney s and Mr. Doran s propositions and hesitations
suggest that this marriage is focus more on morals, fear, manipulation, social norms, public
perception, along with formal sanctions than about mere feelings. Mrs. Mooney, a butcher s daughter,
married one of her father s foreman. Her husband descended into alcoholism, ruining the family
business and becoming increasingly violent until Mrs. Mooney procured a separation. She took the
last of their money and set herself up in a boarding house to make a living. Her son, Jack, and
daughter, Polly, live with her in the house, which is filled with clerks from the city, as well as
occasional tourists and musicians. Mrs. Mooney runs a strict and tight business and is known by the

Favorite Learning Experience
During my early years of life, I absolutely loved learning new things. I would wonder around the
house and garage and look for items that were interesting. I was a very tactile child, in which I needed
to touch and feel objects and items in order to learn about them. My parents and grandparents taught
me to count at a young age using money and household items. For example, every morning, I went to
McDonalds with my grandfather, and I purchased a cappuccino to take home for my grandmother. The
overall cost of the coffee would be 95 cents, and I would receive a nickel in change. When we left
McDonalds, my grandfather would give me the nickel as long as I saved the nickels and counted them
in the pickup truck. At a young age, I had already learned the alphabet and numbers. My absolute
favorite learning activity and form of play as a young child included spending time with my
grandfather on the new land, in which I helped build the house. I followed him around, played on the
dirt pile, and was interested in the tools he would use to build cars and furniture.
From birth to three years old, I was intrigued by toys that played music. For example, I used rattles to
make noise, and I played music with a toy xylophone. My parents and grandparents also assisted in
reading books with sounds and different textures for sensory input. My family also bought me a
musical activity gym where I could flat on my back on a mat with a variety of toys that played music
above me.

Patrick s Day has a strong political history In the middle of the 19th century the Irish suffered from discrimination much like that of the African Americans. In some cases the prejudice against the Irish was fiercer even. The Irish immigrated in great numbers to the US and due to their culture, Catholic faith and the poor conditions in Ireland they were considered to be potentially disloyal and were thus treated very poorly. As a way to battle this they began organizing themselves politically and by the end of the 19th century St. Patrick s Day was a grand holiday for the Irish as well as a day for them to demonstrate their political and social might. The political purpose of the holiday faded along with the discrimination but to this day the holiday remains as a day full of festivities for everyone regardless of one s cultural background. Up until 1970 St Patrick s Day was a sober holiday in Ireland The colour green and drinking are two to things most associated with St. Patrick s Day however due to Irish law all the pubs were shut during that day. • 9. The Ancient Egyptian History And Culture The history of Ancient Egypt is one of the most highly admired and studied cultures of all the past world civilizations. The fascination of the sphinx and the questioning of the pyramids have typically led archeologists to devote their time and efforts into unraveling the mysteries and figuring out the ways of the Egyptian culture. However, some may argue that the alluring aspect of the Ancient Egyptian history and culture is mummification. Some people bury their dead in the ground so that their soul can carry on to heaven while their body turns to dust. Others chose to burn the body and reduce it to ashes that are either kept in memorial or are dispersed. The Egyptians, on the other hand, believed in a different way of life after death and the burial of the body. They desired to preserve the remains as a basic element for survival after death, as well as the journey into the afterlife. With such exotic funerary process, the Egyptians created a view as being a morbid, death obsessed society. Mummification played a major role in Ancient Egyptian s religious belief of life after death, but the process of this unique burial and display of the corpse differed depending on the time period the ritual was performed. EVOLUTION To the Egyptians, the preservation of the body was a fundamental asset to the continuation of life after death. The process of mummification evolved over many decades, becoming more of a dominate ritual in their ancient culture. The beginning of ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

The grandmother argues that the family should go to Tennessee instead of Florida. Her insistence makes the family to deviate from the right path in an attempt to look for a fake treasure. • 13. A Parliamentary Spirit Of Discovery Persuasive Speech A Renewed Spirit of Discovery was the title of President Bush s speech for his vision of new Space Exploration. Since the debate was given on January 14, 2004, it has produced viable concerns from those who support and oppose the initiative. Arguments for and against it have appeared in all types of media, and more importantly in the minds of Americans. This Literature Review will discuss many of these beliefs in order to achieve a well rounded, objective analysis of the issue. But before any opinions are put forth, it is always important to talk about the relative facts. Why put forth a new vision? Over past 30 years, it is hard to say that we have explored space. It is more appropriate to say we have conquered manned flight in Earth s lower orbit. Truly, the Apollo Missions to the moon, which ended in the mid 70 s, was also the end to Manned Space. We have continued to build satellites and space stations to orbit the earth, and robots and satellites to explore Mars and Deep Space. By proposing to put humans on the Moon and Mars, the President has not changed our manned space exploration policy; he has created one. President George W. Bush proposed a new age in Space Exploration on January 14, 2004. The Space Shuttle Columbia disaster was only part of his reasoning for announcing a new direction for NASA. A reason not as well known is the current lack of any direction for NASA. Other than sending probes and robots to Deep Space and Mars, NASA has continued to ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Van Gogh Depression And Depression Van Gogh and Depression I am so angry with myself because I cannot do what I should like to do, and at such a moment one feels as if one were lying bound hand and foot at the bottom of a deep dark well, utterly hopeless, said Vincent Van Gogh in a letter to his brother (Popova). This is how some people who suffer from depression feel on a day to day basis, but not every case is the same. Because people who have depression are all affected in different ways, it is often misunderstood. Depression is not as simple as one may think. It is more than just feeling sad sometimes or having a bad day. Depression, the most common form of mental illness, is actually a brain disorder caused by an imbalance of chemicals in the brain (Hyde and Forsyth 6). There are many causes of depression including stressful life events like the loss of a loved one or physical or mental abuse (Mooney 16 17, 19). Depression can also be hereditary, meaning it is passed down genetically through families (Hyde and Forsyth 21). Numerous types of depression exist, but the three most common ones are major depression, manic depression, and dysthymia (Mooney 9 11). Symptoms of depression vary greatly. If someone starts isolating themselves, losing interest in hobbies, having trouble concentrating, skipping classes, and/or using drugs and alcohol, they may be suffering from depression (Mooney 24 25). What if we have no need to grow, if we are content having the one mastery? Does one need a mastery to want to learn more? His statement may be true under certain conditions or if revised to include such outliers, but as it is, the specifications are too loose. Mastery can present itself in many forms, it isn t concrete. There isn t just the big milestone where you take a photo and receive a certificate for achievement, there can be a child learning to ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... That dog didn t try to reach outside its current level to let the humans know it needed to go out, it was a reflex response, though it has learned that the bark gets it outside. It has grown without pushing itself to achieve more. Completely learning something has to happen in stages so that it can be fully absorbed, so having one mastery before moving to something else is important but some occur at the same time for better understanding of each as they relate to another. Its like a Chemistry class, you learn how to completely do one basic formula and what it means before you can move to the next. In a Chemistry class, you may also learn separate parts at the same time because they tie together later on. It may seem all over the place but once you get to the end of that class, you have many small masteries and you have mastered the class as a whole. Emerson also assumes that everyone wants to expand upon themselves and to experience more, but this is untrue. Often, it is unnecessary to go beyond what a job or course requires, so people won t push themselves because they don t feel a need to do so. • 30. Meno Essay There is not a great deal of context that is crucial to understanding the essential themes of the Meno, largely because the dialogue sits nearly at the beginning of western philosophy. Socrates and Plato are working not so much in the context of previous philosophies as in the context of the lack of them. Further, this is very probably one of Plato s earliest surviving dialogues, set in about 402 BCE (by extension, we might presume that it represents Socrates at a relatively early stage in his own thought). Nonetheless, in order to understand the aims and achievements of the dialogue, it helps to keep in mind some details about this lack of previous philosophies. Since neither virtue nor any other concept has yet been defined in the way ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... If Meno is something of a dummy for aristocratic Sophist sympathizers, Anytus is even more clearly a stand in for the somber, unconsidered values of the Athenian political elite. An actual historical politician of the time, he s grumpy, largely closed to new ideas, and insistent on inherited, class based customs as the vehicle for virtue he suggests that any quot;gentleman quot; on the streets of Athens is a fine example of virtue. Anytus, an Athenian conservative, despises the Sophists. Like other prominent Athenians at the time, he is probably suspicious of the Sophists cleverness with words and their tendency to lead young followers away from success in worldly matters. Socrates encounters this idea that philosophy is a corrupting influence in many of his dialogues, and that perception will eventually lead to his trial and execution for quot;corrupting the youth. quot; Thus, Plato is all the more determined to highlight Socrates profound differences from the Sophists. We should note briefly the basic form of the Platonic dialogues: Plato, Socrates student, has written a kind of play, re enacting the way in which Socrates practiced his philosophy (he did not write it down, but simply argued on the streets). In reading the summary contained on this site, it may not always be clear that Socrates is constantly asking questions of Meno, and only rarely offering ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

There are a number of ways in which one can learn a second language, and in this essay I am going to discuss the links and relationship between second language acquisition and computer assisted language learning, with particular focus on the pedagogical aspects. The most obvious approach to learning a second language is undoubtedly through the Pedagogic Design, or learning from a teacher in a structured classroom environment. This theory complements that of Noam Chomsky, an American linguist and language theorist who believes that children are born with an inherited ability to learn any human language. He claims that many constructions in language, which children use so precisely, must be already imprinted on the child s mind. Chomsky believes that every child s brain has a language acquisition device , which is the reason that children acquire their first language so effortlessly. Erik Erikson s Developmental Theory Essay Firstname Lastname Instructor s Name Course Number Date Erik Erikson Developmental Theory Erik Erikson is a famous German born American psychologist, who developed his own psychoanalytical developmental theory. This developmental theory was aimed to identify the steps a developing human should to pass from infancy to adulthood. Erikson identified eight steps of the psychological development. The ideas of Erikson were heavily influenced by an Austrian psychologist Sigmund Freud, who also analyzed the human psychological development and identified psychosexual stages of development. However, Erikson did not emphasize the predominant role of sexual development in psychological development. He argued that the role of culture and society on a human was the most significant factor which through the evolution separated human psychological development from the development of animals. Erikson writes that there are conflicts which take place within ego and they are usually caused by external factors (society, culture, etc.) Thus, according to Erikson, a human successfully completes the stage when he resolves the main conflict within his ego. (McLeod) Erikson develops his ideas basing on the idea that biological and social nature coexist in each person and each psychological crisis at the end of each life stage reveals a conflict between social and biological forces of a human. Reconciliation of these two identities leads to the harmonious psychological development. On the other ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

After some comedic editing and a brief description of the growing use of vertical video, Kois poses the question: What is the art in vertical video? Kois gives a few examples of vertical video s current usage and raises concern about this vertical video viewing generation. His main concern is that if this generation is accustomed to vertical videos on their smartphones and tablets, then Hollywood will try to cash in on viewer preferences and create vertical films. From the two minute point to circa minute six, Kois presents his argument, which has three central points: 1)the spectacle of theater can only be fully captured horizontally, 2) the space on a horizontal screen allows a visible connection between two characters which the vertical screen cannot capture, and 3)the horizontal screen has room for multiple individuals to be presented simultaneously, while when done so vertically, the screen seems overcrowded. ... Three Major Factors Of The European Colonies In The New World Beginning in the 17th century, European settlers began migrating and colonializing the New World discovered by Christopher Columbus, centuries earlier. The process of colonialization was brutal, it sparked native resistance, and overtime, created tension with Europe. There were several differences between the colonies that were established. However, the motivation to colonialize the New World remained the same for most colonies. Three major factors contributed to the beginning colonies in the 17th century; God, gold, and glory. Many issues were rising in Europe, including religious intolerance. Citizens were not free to worship whatever they pleased, they had to abide by the rules and laws of the Church. Political instability, and economic developments were also contributing factors to emigration. The promise of new gold and new trade also sparked interest amongst rulers. Recordings from earlier periods revealed new jewels that the Indigenous People owned. The small amount of writing from this period also suggests that rulers thought of new trade possibilities. Of course, the biggest factor was glory. Spain, Portugal, France, Britain, and other countries were constantly trying to compete for dominance. The thought of new territory to conquer and claim in the New World sparked major emigration. Global dominance and power was a goal that Europeans had in mind, and the New World was the promise land. This paper uses the shunt connected STATCOM for the control of voltage and power flow. The proposed device is used in different locations such as sending end, middle and receiving end of the transmission line. The PWM control is used to generate the firing pulses of the controller circuit. Simulation modeling of the system is carried out using MATLAB/SIMULINK. Based on a voltage source converter, the STATCOM regulates system voltage by absorbing or generating reactive power. This paper deals with a cascaded multilevel converter model, which is a 48 pulse (three levels) GTO converter. The simulation studies are carried for sending end, middle and receiving end of the transmission line. The objective is to define the reactive power generated and voltage control at different locations (at sending end, middle, receiving end) of transmission line using STATCOM. I was a very tactile child, in which I needed to touch and feel objects and items in order to learn about them. My parents and grandparents taught me to count at a young age using money and household items. For example, every morning, I went to McDonalds with my grandfather, and I purchased a cappuccino to take home for my grandmother. The overall cost of the coffee would be 95 cents, and I would receive a nickel in change. When we left McDonalds, my grandfather would give me the nickel as long as I saved the nickels and counted them in the pickup truck. At a young age, I had already learned the alphabet and numbers. My absolute favorite learning activity and form of play as a young child included spending time with my grandfather on the new land, in which I helped build the house. I followed him around, played on the dirt pile, and was interested in the tools he would use to build cars and furniture. From birth to three years old, I was intrigued by toys that played music. For example, I used rattles to make noise, and I played music with a toy xylophone. My parents and grandparents also assisted in reading books with sounds and different textures for sensory input.
