Sequence Of Felix
In the beginning of the selected sequence from Felix in Hollywood, Felix s master tells Felix that he
will stay home and suddenly a question mark appears over Felix s head which can be translated to a
state of confusion. Felix comes up with an idea and disguises himself as his master s walking stick.
After Felix is discovered, he transforms into a suitcase. As soon as he is picked up, he waves behind
him and transforms back to a suitcase. The sequence ends with Felix as a suitcase transforming back
to his real state, leaving his master surprised with a question mark above his head. The last text bubble
of the sequence beside Felix reads, Hollywood at last! Now for a job in the movies . Felix breaks the

The introduction of colour has increased the level of realism in animation. Dumbo uses colour to
define space, add depth and create a lifelike presentation of both character and space. Klein
emphasises the extent to which colour makes a difference in animation by saying that, color allowed
water to ripple, wind to blow and painterliness to enclose the character (1993: 58). The use of colour
in Dumbo is not as flat as the blank ink in Felix in Hollywood but colours of different tonalities and
this adds to its naturalistic quality. Colour indicates meaning in the selected sequence from Dumbo,
Dumbo has a pink tent and the carpet on which he runs on is a darker shade of pink. Pink is a delicate
colour usually associated with babies and tenderness. Felix in Hollywood misses the narrative power
of colour however being in black and white helps to keep attention on just the story and what can be
seen in the frame. Colour can be distracting if the main intention and strongpoint of an animation is its

Informative Essay About Neil Postman s Amusing Ourselves...
Neil postman was a jack of all trades, he was an American Author, an educator at New York
University, media theorist, and cultural critic. (PressThink 1) In 1985 Neil Postman published a book
called Amusing Ourselves to Death: Public Discourage in the Age of show Business. The book
provides a look at what happens when politics, journalism, education and even religion become
subject to the demands of entertainment. In his book Amusing Ourselves to Death Postman says that
the content of a culture is contained in its communication, and that the content of communication is
affected by the medium of communication. In other words, Postman is saying that a culture is defined
by its connection of people, and the connection of people is afflicted by technology. Sherry Turkle is
another author that has written a book called Alone Together published in January 2011. Sherry Turkle
is an award winning professor at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology where she focuses her
research on human technology interaction. Alone Together is the results of Turkle s nearly fifteen year
exploration of our lives with technology, she describes new unsettling relationships between friends,
family, parents and children, and new instabilities in how we understand privacy and community.
There is a third author named Julia Angwin that has developed a book that connects with Postman s
argument. Julia Angwin is an award winning investigative journalist at a news organization called
ProPublica. (About)

Deadliest Hurricane Research Paper
On the eighth of September, 1900, a nameless hurricane crept up the wall of the Gulf of Mexico and
ambushed the city of Galveston, Texas. Within only a few minutes, a massive storm surge rose up and
gulped the tourist trap town in water. Entire steel structures were folded in on themselves and fish and
ships alike were stranded. Streets, dammed from the rubble of surround ing structures, were
desperately being sorted through to try and find survivors or the bodies of the dead. But there seemed
to be a lack of public interest to what is still regarded as the largest and deadliest Hurricane to ever

Saddam Hussein s Invasion Of Iraq
When Saddam Hussein refused to leave Iraq, the United States and allied forces launched an attack on
the morning of March 20, 2003. The invasion itself only lasted 21 days, concluding with the capture
of the Iraqi capital of Bagdad by American forces. Massive air strikes across the country and against
Iraqi command and control threw the defending army into chaos, preventing the Iraqi military from
making an effective resistance. The main body of the coalition forces pushed hard and fast across Iraq
meeting little to no resistance. Iraqi president at the time, Saddam Hussein and his central leadership

Machiavelli s Prince
Humanism is a term that is applied to beliefs, methods and philosophies that place human beings at
the center all life and the universe. Humanists observe that the goal of human life is happiness on
earth. Besides happiness, humanism is also grounded in naturalistic metaphysics (Lamont 13). It
considers all supernatural things and beliefs to be mythical, hence warranting dismissal. It is also
conceived of the idea that human beings are products of nature rather than supernatural creation. The
earthly experience is more important than any forms of predestination or determinism. According to
humanist, human beings have choice of action and have the capacity to shape their destiny. The
process of self definition also leads to critical inquiry ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
In Prince Machiavelli maps a political ideology that values citizen active participation in public life as
opposed to the idea of waiting for divine repudiation and salvation. The essence of virtue is central to
humanist thought and action. Machiavelli like all other humanists saw virtue in those with power to
rule. A virtuous ruling class had the capacity for more efficient and accountable governance. He goes
on to argue that an elite ruling class was not sufficient enough for political stability. A stable political
system needs power. He observed that a political system that had poor organization led to its subjects
bad behavior which in the end resulted in it getting attacked by outside enemies. Machiavelli s project
was to separate the political from the moral and he thought this did not necessarily benefit the ruler
but the general populace. His civic humanism is found in his assertion that a prince should not resort
to mistreating his subjects. When he is feared enough, the state is strong and every citizen does their
civic duty. In the process no one is hurt and the prince retains his

Similarities Between The Good, The Bad, And The Ugly
Friendship is a kind of virtue, or implies virtue, and it is also most necessary for living. Nobody would
choose to live without friends even if he had all the other good things there are, however, not a few
divergent views about friendship. Some hold that it is a matter of similarity: that our friends are those
who are like ourselves others take the contrary view.
The Good, The Bad, And The Ugly are a movie that shows a complicated friendship in the storyline.
Directed by Sergio Leone, this movie was pioneer of spaghetti s western movie during 1960 s.

Mobile Phones Today
1. Introduction
As at July 2013, there were 7,095,217,980 people in the world. According to the world population
statistics for the year 2013, 8.2% of the world population are elders (male 257,035,416/female
321,753,746). 53% of the world population own a smart phone. Out of the 7 million people in the
world, over 4.3 billion people use mobile phones and this will increase to 5.1 billion by 2017. (Fox,
2013) Technology evolves day by day. Scientist became inquisitive about how to make mobile phone
user experience better. That led to the discovery of the touchscreen mobile device in the 19 s. The first
touchscreen mobile phone was created by IBM Simon in 1993. Touchscreen technology is that which
allows for a better user interaction, just having to touch the screen of a device, the operation is carried
out. It is more convenient and easier to use. Touchscreen mobile devices are useful in every aspect,
from entertainment, education, recreation, socialization to communication. With a touchscreen mobile
device, a user is able to make phone calls, send and receive text messages, get acquainted with latest
news, socialize via the social networking app that can be downloaded on the phone, play memory
simulating games and other games.
Most manufacturer often ask a question which is why older individuals find it difficult to cope or
interact with the latest technology such as the touch screen technology. A quick answer to this, could
be that older individuals do not have a need for

The War On Cyber Wars
Want to launch an attack on someone who opposes your beliefs, demands, and anything else that can
possibly be a point of conflict? All you have to do is Google it . It is possible that all you have to do to
learn how to shut down your enemy s ability to use the internet is an internet search engine search
away and a little practice. An individual can learn how to write a virus or launch a full blown
distributed denial of service attack against the desired target with some light reading and little trial and
error. The case study that is about to be explained to you would like you to think otherwise and appear
to make you feel disconnected from these cyber wars.
In chapter 7 of Cases in international relations: pathways to conflict and cooperation it contains a case
study about the war on cyber wars and briefly explains the different types of attacks that have recently
been taking place, with most of them involving the United States. It begins with the author of the case
study Glenn Hastedt stating a quote from a former head of the CIA, Michael Hayden stating, rarely
has something been so important and so talked about with less clarity and less understanding. (2015).
This quote by Hayden is the simplest wording of a very deep and difficult area of discussion that
multiple countries and their respective peacekeeping organizations are involved in, attempting to reach
agreements on the matter.
Hastedt s case study goes further to explain a broad and surprisingly light

My Experience With Doctor Visits
Twisted Something was wrong. Every fiber within me was screaming this but my mind refused to
accept it. The nausea, lack of energy, and the constant feeling of being tired were becoming
commonplace in my daily life. The thought of going to see a doctor was not something I was looking
forward to and had not been entertained frequently by me in the past. I had always taken pride in
being active and healthy. Unbeknownst to me, doctor visits would become a regular, unpleasant,
occurrence for me in the months to follow. It was a cool crisp fall morning in October 2013. The air
had the distinct aroma of the winter months that were pressing hard to reveal themselves. A light
breeze softly scattered the leaves gently across our front yard. It held the promise of becoming a
beautiful day, but not for me. Thinking back, I remember how I used to love this time of year, but this
year felt very different. My husband Darrell and I had finally found the perfect house to rent after a
year of searching. Even though we hated the process of moving it was something we had looked
forward to for such a long time. Darrell was up early that morning packing, labeling, and busying
himself with various other tasks required for such an event. Normally this was something I would
gladly have jumped right in and helped with. However, I was not as energetic as he was. I had noticed
lately I was lacking in the motivation category and everyday chores seemed to drain me quite easily.
This feeling had

What Is The Theme Of Games At Twilight By Anita Deswi
Games at twilight is a short story written by Anita Desai. The story is about a young boy called Ravi
who plays hide and seek with his brothers and sisters in a very hot summer day. He wants to win the
game so that he can have all the glory of beating his relatives. He hides in a very dark shed and he
waits for the right moment to get out, touch the den and eventually win the game. I believe that the
last part of the story is the most important because the writer presents the innocence of a child and
how he feels when he understands that he is not the centre of attention. Ravi was sure that he won and
was the champion, the one and only winner of the game since he was not found by Raghu. Desai
shows Ravi s excitement and satisfaction about ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Desai conveys Ravi s feelings by the use of irony in the phrase He would not follow them, he would
not be included in this funeral game. He had wanted victory and triumph not a funeral. This technique
provides a twist in the plot of the story because Ravi has won the game, but in reality, he has lost since
he was forgotten. In my opinion, this particular line is very important in the story because it shows the
contrast between what Ravi really wanted and what he got at the end. He wished to be the winner and
have all the victory but instead he is completely forgotten and the children have moved to other
activities and games. The pause used after the two words victory and triumph makes the reader think
of the kid s bad luck since not only he did not win and triumphed, he found himself attending a funeral
game . Looking closely to the metaphoric word funeral we can say that it reflects the death of his
innocence. This occurs when he actually understands that not always everyone will be around you,
even your relatives. This phrase shows an unexpected ending for Ravi and the reader which creates an
anti climax ending. To sum up, the reader feels sorry because the child didn t manage to win after all
those plans and

Stages Of Social Location
1. Social location is the idea that a groups members belong in the group because of their place or
position in society, past and present. All people have a distinct social location that is defined by their
social class, gender, ability, race, age, religion, sexual orientation, and geographic location.
Membership within each group brings forth a certain set of social roles and rules, power, and privilege
(or lack of), which heavily influence a person s identity and how they see the world. 2. A social
problem is an issue within society that a large amount of people are concerned with. The problem
itself has to be socially constructed, meaning it has two essential components. An objective condition
that can be measured or experienced, and a subjective ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The social problem I decided to explain was the growing rate of simple and complex terrorist attacks
in developed countries. In the past few years we ve seen a significant spike in the rise of terrorist
attacks in the United States and it allies and its causing a major social problem. Whether it be a
bombing or just driving a van through a crowd of people, these attacks effect people in multiple ways.
One of the main ways is that it causes people to be afraid to go outside and socialize which causes a
disconnect between the population. Another way is that it cause the citizens to mistrust the
government, because it is supposed to keeping them safe and a terror attack being successfully carried
out means the government failed at its job. There are many ways this could be fixed, but the problem
is that a lot of Americans aren t willing to do them because they involve giving up certain amounts of
freedom. By this I mean allowing the government to look at digital data on people as well as
conversations to attempt to stop attacks before the begin. Another way is to give the police and other
feral law enforcement agencies more power to arrest or detain terrorist suspects. This issue is one that
a lot of people are currently trying to come up with solutions to, and I think it will take a while before
we are able to come to one clear way to deal with this

The Battle of the Bulge Essay
The Battle of the Bulge
The post D Day Allied assault that swept through France was halted by Hitler s unexpected counter
attack through the Ardennes, resulting in a confrontation named the Battle of the Bulge.
The Allied battle front in the autumn of 1944 made an end to the war by Christmas look likely. They
had liberated most of France in a matter of months, and were now marching towards the Ruhr River,
which was the gateway to the heartland of Germany. However, the Allies had moved so far so fast that
their supply lines had not caught up with them. The closest dock was where they had landed on D
Day, and the need for a closer port became more persistent everyday. During the Overlord campaign,
which was the landing in France, ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
He complied, however, and sent the Canadian First Army. The British XII division was then sent in as
reinforcements. The German defenders were comprised mainly of the 15th Army who had escaped
advancing enemy by ferrying over the Schelde. By the end of the battle, Montgomery had lost thirteen
thousand men. Antwerp, the prize of the assault, was still heavily defended by mines, and it took
months to actually open the vitally important port (Goalrick 27).
Farther south, General Hodges First Army Group was preparing to breach the West Wall and take
Aachen, a very important and historical city to the Germans. His attack began on October 2nd, and
was a very difficult battle. Two German Panzer divisions were sent to garrison the city. Hodges broke
through though on October 21st, marking Aachen as the first major German city to fall into Allied
hands (Goalrick 28).
On the German side, Hitler was running out of options. Russia has destroyed twenty five German
divisions, the worst defeat ever inflicted on them. On the western front, the Allies had captured Rome
and were attacking 155 miles north. The D Day invaders had destroyed another two German armies
while they pushed through France. He was being surrounded on all sides and needed to make a drastic
move. He reasoned that since Allies had come so far so fast, they would have to halt eventually to
allow their supplies to catch up with them. During

Military Decision Making Process ( Mdmp )
Military Decision Making Process (MDMP) SGT Alexander, Joseph Non commission Officers
Academy Senior Leader Course ALC 166 16 Phase 1 dL Abstract The historical process of creating
and implementation of the Military Decision Making Process has changed significantly since World
War I. The US Army did not have a published staff doctrine or guidance to assist commanders in the
decision making process. The Regulations for Field Maneuvers (1910), did not provide staff guidance.
In 1914, the field service regulation (FSR) identified the need for decision making processes. The
Staff Officer Field Manual (1932), complied principles, data, and information that was intended to
guide the operations of staff of all units and territorial commands. The Staff Officer Field Manual
(1932), was a detailed manual that explained staff functions and more complete commander estimates
of implementation time. Introduction The Military Decision Making Process (MDMP) is a repeating
plan of procedures used to understand the situation and mission. The MDMP is used to develop a
course of action and produce an operation plan or order. The MDMP integrates the commander, staff,
subordinate, headquarters personnel, and other stakeholders involved in the planning process. We need
the MDMP because it allows the leader to execute orders and planning decisions. The MDMP aids in
the collaboration and planning with the higher headquarters. The higher headquarters

Data Mining in the Pharmaceutical Industry
A Look at Data Mining in the Pharmaceutical Industry
Topics Covered: 1) What is Data Mining and why is it used? 2) How is Data Mining used in the
Pharmaceutical Industry? 3) Recent debate in the legality of Data Mining and the Pharmaceutical
Industry
Pharmaceutical companies are taking advantage of the growing use of technology in the healthcare
arena by using data to enhance their marketing efforts and increase the quality of research and
development. The process of data mining allows companies to extract useful information from large
sets of individual data. This process provides a knowledge that is vital to a pharmaceutical company s

As stated above, data mining is often used to solve business decision problems, it provides ways to
quantitatively measure what business users should already know qualitatively (Linoff, 2004). A
growing number of industries are using data mining to become more competitive in their market by
primarily focusing on the customers; increasing their customer relationships and increasing customer
acquisition.
2) How is Data Mining Used in the Pharmaceutical Industry?
The pharmaceutical industry has copious uses for data mining which include increasing the efficiency
of research and development, contributing to drug safety information and to increasing the
effectiveness of their marketing efforts. Understanding that the benefit of data mining is allowing for
the extraction of useful information from large sets of individual data, it is evident that the
pharmaceutical industry has a need for this process. The abundance of diseases prevalent in the world,
the multitude of drugs available for each disease, and the variety of patients that take the products,
produces massive amounts of information available in the industry. Pharmaceutical companies have

History Of Juvenile Crimes
We believe that the world s most notorious and ruthless killers are locked away in a jail cell, away
from society and possibly never having the chance to see sunlight again. Yet, what we do not know is
that it is very possible that we could be sitting in a room with a future killer. When we hear the words
serial killer or murderer, we most often see pictures of the famous killers or the ones actors portray on
tv, but one of the biggest things we do not see are pictures of children. The biggest twist of all though
is according to the Justice Department, it estimates about 10 percent of all homicides are committed
by juveniles under the age of 18. Many juveniles are being tried as adults and possibly being locked
up because of the crimes that they do, depending on how bad the crime is and the juvenile s criminal
history. Most children do not really know what they did or why they did but that does not excuse the
fact that they took another person s life, regardless of what was actually going on during the time.
Kids who do adult crimes should be put away from society for protection against themselves and
others. If a person did something really bad and they regret it, you can instantly see it on their faces.
Something sparks in their eye that just shows remorse which is good because it shows not only them
feeling bad about what they did, but also giving teaching them a lesson to not do that bad thing ...

That s really good advice, especially when photographing wild animals. If you re shooting

Disadvantages Of High-Stakes Testing
In spite of critics, educational reform in Texas continued to rely on testing in an effort to meet
accountability required at the state level. Calls for accountability seem to usually rise from the
political community. When the political community demands that tests serve high stakes
accountability functions, professional testing standards can be easily compromised. In accountability
contexts, test results decide which students are retained in grade, held back from graduation, and
assigned to tracks or special classifications...high stakes testing produces teaching and testing
practices that lead to inflated test scores and further disadvantage already disadvantaged students,
(Smith and Fey, 2000, p. 334). To call for ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Associations to which test specialists belong agree that the validity standard depends on the test s
context and it s used. A test may be validated for some uses and not others (Smith et al., 2000).
McDonnell (1997) found that the political community believed the benefits of the assessment policy
would outweigh any harm that might be caused by less than reliable or invalid tests. Some may
wonder why teaching to the test is not a good practice and a healthy basic skills emphasis. They may
even suggest that teaching to the test results is basic instruction even in the least advantaged
educational situations. Research indicates that there is little evidence to indicate that high stakes
accountability testing and reform have had much impact on overall school performance beyond
increased scores on the individual test that was the instrument of the state policy (Mehrens, 1998).
Theory validity of TAAS fell short of professional standards in other ways: While Texas scores on the
math part of the National Assessment of Educational Progress (NAEP) have risen dramatically the
results, perhaps, of all that drill and test practice Texas students made only small gains in the NAEP
reading test between 1992 and 1998, no gain what so ever between 1993 and 1996 on nationally
normed achievement tests in reading, and not much gain in other subjects...They have not made much
gain on the SAT, either (Schrag, 2000).Since 1999, Texas has begun to administer the Texas
Assessment of Knowledge and Skills exam and has continued to follow the high stakes consequences
for failing the tests at the 3, 6 and 10th grades. This current test battery has been said to be more
difficult than the earlier basic skills exams. One result of the wide use of exams to measure student
achievement has been the growth of alternative education. The website for the Texas

who is walking through the streets with him. Another theory is that he is talking to himself and
discussing his problems out loud, which was my original understanding. However, now I do not
believe Prufrock would literally talk to himself and urge himself to Let us go . Due to this, my
understanding is that he is talking to the audience and is asking them to continue on with his story and
to listen with what he has to say.
Since conducting research on TS Eliot and The Love Song of J Alfred Prufrock my understanding of
who the narrator is and who he is talking to have changed and I now believe that J Alfred Prufrock is
an appropriation of Eliot by himself. Also, I now believe that Prufrock is not talking to himself but is
talking to the audience and urging them to come along with him as he talks about

The Role Of Jealousy In Othello
The Role of Jealousy in Othello.
The drama Othello , is well known, for the way Shakespeare was able to make the audience focus on
the destructive and corrupting power of jealousy.
The theme jealousy in the drama Othello causes the major problems for the characters in the story.
Jealousy in the story can be seen in two different views, which are:
a) The destructive power of sexual jealousy.
b) The jealousy of power and position.
Sexual jealousy was exhibited as one of the destructive factors of jealousy that leads to tragic
occasions for characters in the play. Othello was made to be sexually jealous by Iago about the way
Desdemona was cheating on him with Cassio. For instance, when Iago told Othello Well, there you

In the first seen, Iago shows of his jealously was right at the beginning of the play, he said Mere
prattle without practice is all his soldier ship. But he sir, had th election (Shakespeare.1.1.26 27). This
helps to show Iago s jealousy towards Cassio as he wanted to be the Lutenant to Othello, for all his
service he has done for Othello.
Also, Iago was jealous of Othello s relationship with Desdemona. For instance when Iago says It
cannot be that Desdemona should long continue her love to the Moor/She must change for youth
(Shakespeare 1.3.378 382). This quote furthers shows how Iago was jealous for Othello and
Desdemona s love. Desdemona is the daughter of a well respected Senate, and she is much known for
her beauty, and it seems like all the men in Venice in one way wanted to her as their wife, and Othello,
who is a moor cannot just marry Desdemona.
Furthermore, Iago was jealous of Othello from the fact that he hated him, even if he was given the
position or not. For instance where Iago said Though I do hate him as I do hell pains, yet, for necessity
of present life, I must show out a flag and sign of love which is indeed but sign (Shakespeare (1.1.171
174). This quote helps to show how Iago will always hate Othello no matter what happens, he will
always seek pleasure going against

Martha Stewart and the Imclone Scandal

Martha Stewart and the ImClone Scandal
On January 20, 2004, jury selection launched the trial of Martha Stewart, Chief Creative Officer and
former Chief Executive Officer and Chairman of the Board of Martha Stewart Living Omnimedia
(MSO). Nine charges filed by the Federal Grand Jury in New York and the SEC relate to Stewart s
personal sale of $228,000 in ImClone Systems, Inc. stock on December 27, 2001, one day before
regulators rejected the biotech company s cancer drug (Erbitux) and sent its stock tumbling.
Communications records show that Stewart placed an 11 minute cellphone call to her assistant at 1:31
P.M. EST on December 27 to check her messages. The call was registered moments after Stewart s

No formal stop loss order was ever recorded: shares of ImClone indeed dipped below the alleged stop
loss price of $60 in the period since Stewart claims having affected that order, and none of Stewart s
ImClone stocks were automatically sold. Bacanovic s hand scribbled notation of stop loss order...
@$60 on Stewart s Merrill Lynch worksheet is written in a different ink than other notations on that

misleading investigators about the content of his phone call with Stewart on December 27: he is
expected to testify that Bacanovic made him lie to corroborate Stewart s alibi, and that he himself
informed Stewart that Waksal was trying to dump his stock that fateful day. Feds also claim that four
days before Stewart met with them, she altered her secretary s phone log, changing the entry for
December 27, 2001 to read Peter Bacanovic re: ImClone, rather than the actual message Peter
Bacanovic thinks ImClone is going to start trading downward. Also, in a letter to congressional
investigators, Stewart s lawyers say she talked with Bacanovic himself from the tarmac on December
27, though Bacanovic was on vacation in Miami that day. Select interpersonal communications and
coincidences also raise questions for the defense. Phone records register a call from Stewart to

Abstinence-Only Education
The United States ranks first among developed nations in rates of both teenage pregnancy and
sexually transmitted diseases (Stanger Hall, Hall, Abstinence Only Education and Teen Pregnancy
Rates ). According to several studies, this is mainly due to the fact that numerous states teach
abstinence only education, which usually does not include material on contraception, STIs, nor
pregnancy. The alternative to abstinence only education is referred to as comprehensive sex education,
where the practice of abstinence is promoted, but students are additionally taught about contraception,
STIs, pregnancy prevention, and interpersonal skills. Despite the beneficial results of this alternative,
abstinence only education is still taught all over the ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Drilling into teens heads that sex is inherently bad will do no justice in the long run. Notwithstanding,
abstinence only programs do nothing but this, for they hold the opinion that making teenagers fear the
consequences of precarious sex will prevent them from engaging in it. Advocates of both abstinence
only and comprehensive programs are worried that premature sex, even when wholly safe, will
psychologically damage teenagers, but there are no scientific data suggesting that consensual sex
between adolescents is harmful , yet abstinence only education by itself continues to mandate the
teaching that sex out of wedlock will do harm (Santelli et al. Abstinence and abstinence only
education 74). Unlike abstinence only education, comprehensive sex education attempts to focus on
developing healthy mentalities for the benefit of their students. Promotion of healthy relationships
between oneself and others will help make teenagers find trust between themselves and their sexual
partners before participating in the act, furthermore causing them to make sure their partner does not
have any STIs and is using contraception. Conversely, abstinence only programs persistence with
enthusiastically promoting abstinence leaves teenagers with little clue about their mental health. Even
those few individuals who remain abstinent until marriage are left

Julian Stallabrass Controversy
Although controversial, the young British artists (YBAs) featured in Charles Saatchi s 1997 exhibition
Sensation, utilised the media savvy nature of their patron to expose a plethora of political, social and
economic concerns. However, conservative critic, Julian Stallabrass, underestimates their form of
ethically significant, transgressive art as little more than an inflated PR exercise (1998, p. 10). Hence,
his unconventional review of Sensation, High Art Lite at the Royal Academy (Stallabrass, 1998),
insufficiently argues that the collective is fundamentally disingenuous due to their portrayal of Britain
s working class culture, and their adoption by high art institutions (pp. 79 84).
In order to validate this claim of insincerity, Stallabrass

Conflict Resolution at the Workplace
Workplace Conflict Resolution If you search the word conflict in the dictionary, you are likely to find
plenty of negative connotations. Many explain conflict as: coming to collision or a disagreement;
clash; contention; controversy; fighting or quarreling, states Random House (1975). As these
definitions are negative in nature, most people tend to withdraw when they enter an arena with
conflict.
Business Environment Conflict
If you can recognize and understand exactly what creates conflict within the realm of business during
its infant stages, there is much more likely to be a quick resolution. However, one must be able to spot
the warning signs. Lundine (1996) explains five primary detection signs of conflict:
· Romance amongst employees, particularly when one is in a position of power over the other. This
can breed favoritism, discrimination and increase the likelihood of harassment allegations.
· Lack of consistency when it comes to performance. For example, diminished work output, slower
pace and sales fluctuations.
· Too much time spent on personal issues such as phone calls, surfing the net, too many breaks or
longer lunch times.
· Drug abuse or drinking before or on the job.
· Visible alterations in character traits. For example, someone who is normally gregarious and
talkative, suddenly seems withdrawn and quiet.
What Perpetrates Conflict?
To be able to detect potential conflict, it helps to be aware of the aforementioned warning signs.

Words Affecting A Child s Second Language
A child s first words, a jumble of sounds that no longer sound like gibberish, which cause grown men
and women to turn into ecstatic five year olds, and show the beginning of a child s path in learning
language. From that point and onwards the child only picks up more words, understanding their
meaning and the context in which they can be used, but eventually that child speaks a different kind of
first word. A first word that causes those same parents to cringe, and flinch in disgust, as these are the
common reactions that society wants one to believe occur in response to the use of vulgar words.
These words that are taboo in society in every culture, and all corners of the world, words that caused

Analysis Of Chronicles By Jean Froissart
In Jean Froissart s Chronicles we are immersed in a version of historical events in France that involve
French peasants in a current revolt against the nobility and knights that control the lands. With this
sample, the audience is unaware of the reasoning of why and what particularly bewildered peasants to
amass thus leading to a huge scaled revolt against the higher gentleman class. To recap the main
details of the story, the combined French peasants numbered in the thousands manage to destroy the
villages of (Beavoism, Corbie, Amiens and Montididier), wherein their path included raping of
woman, burning of towns, and brutally torturing captured knights, (Froissart, Chronicles.1.181). As
time passes with groups of nobility able to escape their terrorized lands, the tide turns when the
combined forces of the allied knights converge on the formidable force of peasants numbered in the
thousands at the town of Meaux. With the expected outcome, the knights readily equipped with
horses, full scale of armor, and fine weaponry defeat and drive away all opposition with no mercy.
Able to demolish the conglomerate of peasants the knights and squires would burn the town of Meaux
massacring all peasants left insight making sure that all Jacques would never again consider revolting
against their lords and masters. In this work where even though the author may have lived during this
period of such events, I believe it seems unlikely that he was either a participant or eyewitness of

Drone Racing Research Papers
Ever wanted to race at speeds of 80 mph, but don t have a driver s license or are under 16? Then drone
racing is for you. Drone racing is an interesting sport with big payouts. It was called the hottest new
sport of 2015 by times magazine. After reading my paper you might think that drone racing is for you.
Did you know? Drone racing has no real inventor even though there is an entire sport that has
$200,000 payouts along with proposed funding to make it televised event ( kind of like nascar ). It is
considered to be invented in 2015 by people with drones and a dream to make the world s greatest

A problem for the drone league is that the only have a couple hundred pilots and that is a problem if
they want to grow. In October from the 22 26 is the WORLD FINAL RACE and it will be held at
Kualoa Ranch ( the same place the Jurassic Park and Godzilla movies were filmed.) The winner gets
$200,000 and Supreme bragging rights, ( I mean seriously that would be awesome.) The best part is,
we still have ( give or take ) 200 days to qualify. A lap of a 100 meter course can be run in ten seconds
or less. Courses usually are 100 meters long and are made of hoops walls and are full of twists and
turns. Courses may be longer than 100 meters but are generally 100. During the flight the hoops might
light up as drones pass through. At Kualoa Ranch the obstacles are outdoors themed as in, trees, big
leaves and more hoops. The problem with the courses in any sport is you can crash and in drone
racing you crash hard, broken propellers, cameras and cracked bodies are some of the hazards. Drone
racing may seem like it isn t for everyone but if you give it a try, you might just like it. Remember you
might not like it but drone racing is an up and coming sport with large payouts. If you want to try

Persuasive Essay On Cloning A Horse
Ever since the first cloned animal, Dolly the sheep, in 1996 the argument has arose that if cloning a
human is appropriate. Not only is there an argument for human cloning but, in the past couple years
there has been many debates on whether it is right or wrong to clone a horse. Cloning refers to the
process of creating genetically similar organisms or the production of organisms that are genetically
identical through the transfer of somatic cells of an existing organism and transferring it to an oocyte
where the nucleus has been extracted. To clone a horse means using the DNA from a donor horse to
produce a genetically identical foal. Thus, the question is asked why would someone need to clone a
horse? When there is a horse that shows exceptional talent, in particularly a gelding, cloning allows
the horses DNA and look to be accessible in the form of a ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Although the stallion may never need to compete but can serve as a stud and then pass on the DNA of
the original horse. However, there has been many debates on whether cloning is morally correct or is
healthy for the new horse, but equally as important to the equine industry is the current debate over the
fact that cloned horses are not allowed to be registered in the American Quarter Horse Association
(AQHA) database. To some horse owners or buyers registration of a horse is highly important,
because it adds value to a horse and it s important for breeding purposes. Also registration is important
for the use of tracking a horse, wether it is to track the age of the horse, to gain knowledge of the horse
s relatives or their performance history. Although this all depends on personal preference. If a horse is
not registered that does not mean the horse is worthless or untalented, this just means that the horse
can not participate in AQHA horse shows, which are very prestigious. However, the the opposing
sides argument is that by allowing the clones in the breeding register will

Religious Hypocrisy In A Good Man Is Hard To Find
Research shows that several Flannery O Connor critics claim that her work A Good Man is Hard to
Find does not parallel her devout Catholic faith, but rather replicate the ideologies of atheism and even
go as far as to showcase religious hypocrisy. As Edwin Curley once quoted O Connor is often labelled
as a Catholic writer, but there is nothing peculiarly Catholic, or even Christian about her dark view of
human nature (Curley 31). This particular statement helps reaffirm the belief that O Connor
demonstrates an atheist viewpoint and simultaneously contradicts her religious piety. However, O
Connor subconsciously believes and demonstrates through her work that the Grandmother and the
Misfit s final fate is to be redeemed by an epiphany of ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
For example, Edwin Curley displays the argument that O Connor s work is not a religious story.
Rather than dissecting the various elements that O Connor utilizes to intertwine human nature with
religion, Curley examines her writing and automatically claims that her work had nothing particularly
Catholic, or even Christian on O Connor s work. Instead of studying how she might have related her
pessimistic view of mankind to her religion, Curley relates her work to Machiavelli s The Prince and
Thomas Hobbes Social Contract, two works symbolize human wickedness and lack of morality.
Additionally, Stanley Renner s Secular Meaning in A Good Man Is Hard to Find display similar
attitudes regarding the story and religious motives. Instead of showcasing O Connor s the religious
motives mentioned above, Renner looks directly at the secular interpretations of the story. For
example, Renner argues that the Grandmother s love for Jesus only stirred the murderer s homicidal
rage (Renner 124), implying that the Misfit merely possessed atheist viewpoints instead of diving into
the greater meaning of the story by how religion played a role in A Good Man Is Hard to Find.
Furthermore, Douglas Leonard expresses that O Connor realizes the flimsiness of her old form of
Christianity: her religion has consisted of nothing more than platitudes which she manipulated to suit
her own purposes and with which she

Escaping the Traps to Find Success
1. It is possible but difficult to escape all the traps.
2. Inequality Factors
3. Government
4. Developing Nations
5. Corruption
6. China´s Private Sector
1. It is possible but difficult to escape all the traps.
Poverty trap/underdevelopment trap is created when the poor don t have ability to gain sufficient
amount of credit to get out of the trap for generations. If inequality is enormous, the poor cannot get
access to loans for their children s education and for them to start a business. It s possible for them to
escape the trap if their children could achieve education somehow or if they are successful with their
businesses. Government should improve the lives of the poor by providing assistance for health,
education, shelter, and employment.
Middle income trap is due to lack of innovation capacity, advance technology and high inequality.
Countries have to invest more in R D, encourage knowledge workers stay in the country to create new
products, and create funds for innovative entrepreneurs instead of just assembling products for
overseas companies (Schuman, 2010)
International helps are necessary to create aids for the poor and boost the attractiveness of the local
economy through government s coordination.
2. Just like poverty trap, inequality only favors high income people and creates poor institutions for
the whole society. The poor don t have access to sufficient amount of assistance to get out of poverty
trap.

10 Things I Hate About You Literary Analysis
To make a present day rendition of a sixteenth century play, one would need to have an impeccable
blend of similitudes and contrasts between the two, joining components of both worlds. The makers of
10 Things I Hate About You made a decent showing with this, utilizing a hefty portion of the
characters and a significant part of the plot from Taming of the Shrew and parts of youngster society
that such a variety of individuals can identify with in today s reality. Taming of the Shrew and 10

contrasts.

these two young ladies requests that Bianca not get included with anybody until Katherine has. The
men pay one of their associates to go about as though he is occupied with Katherine so they can have
a chance with Bianca. At last, Katherine winds up readily being with the man that has been paid off,
and along these lines tamed . There are minor contrasts between the plots, however the primary
thoughts continue as before. Since the plots are fundamentally the same, the topics are comparable
also. One comparative topic in both of the plays is camouflage. Albeit Taming of the Shrew utilizes
this topic all the more, there are masks in 10 Things I Hate About You, for example, when Cameron
says that he is a French guide, or when Patrick goes about just as he truly enjoys Katherine. Both the
plots and the subjects are comparable in the two stories.
Despite the fact that they appear to be completely indistinguishable, Taming of the Shrew and 10

oddity, it s a light hearted murder mystery that takes place from one setting, yet very effectively pulls
the audience into the experience. There is a constant did he or didn t he feeling that keeps the viewer

  • 2. Sequence Of Felix In the beginning of the selected sequence from Felix in Hollywood, Felix s master tells Felix that he will stay home and suddenly a question mark appears over Felix s head which can be translated to a state of confusion. Felix comes up with an idea and disguises himself as his master s walking stick. After Felix is discovered, he transforms into a suitcase. As soon as he is picked up, he waves behind him and transforms back to a suitcase. The sequence ends with Felix as a suitcase transforming back to his real state, leaving his master surprised with a question mark above his head. The last text bubble of the sequence beside Felix reads, Hollywood at last! Now for a job in the movies . Felix breaks the fourth wall of the graphic space, creating ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The introduction of colour has increased the level of realism in animation. Dumbo uses colour to define space, add depth and create a lifelike presentation of both character and space. Klein emphasises the extent to which colour makes a difference in animation by saying that, color allowed water to ripple, wind to blow and painterliness to enclose the character (1993: 58). The use of colour in Dumbo is not as flat as the blank ink in Felix in Hollywood but colours of different tonalities and this adds to its naturalistic quality. Colour indicates meaning in the selected sequence from Dumbo, Dumbo has a pink tent and the carpet on which he runs on is a darker shade of pink. Pink is a delicate colour usually associated with babies and tenderness. Felix in Hollywood misses the narrative power of colour however being in black and white helps to keep attention on just the story and what can be seen in the frame. Colour can be distracting if the main intention and strongpoint of an animation is its ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 3. Informative Essay About Neil Postman s Amusing Ourselves... Neil postman was a jack of all trades, he was an American Author, an educator at New York University, media theorist, and cultural critic. (PressThink 1) In 1985 Neil Postman published a book called Amusing Ourselves to Death: Public Discourage in the Age of show Business. The book provides a look at what happens when politics, journalism, education and even religion become subject to the demands of entertainment. In his book Amusing Ourselves to Death Postman says that the content of a culture is contained in its communication, and that the content of communication is affected by the medium of communication. In other words, Postman is saying that a culture is defined by its connection of people, and the connection of people is afflicted by technology. Sherry Turkle is another author that has written a book called Alone Together published in January 2011. Sherry Turkle is an award winning professor at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology where she focuses her research on human technology interaction. Alone Together is the results of Turkle s nearly fifteen year exploration of our lives with technology, she describes new unsettling relationships between friends, family, parents and children, and new instabilities in how we understand privacy and community. There is a third author named Julia Angwin that has developed a book that connects with Postman s argument. • 6. Machiavelli s Prince Humanism is a term that is applied to beliefs, methods and philosophies that place human beings at the center all life and the universe. Humanists observe that the goal of human life is happiness on earth. Besides happiness, humanism is also grounded in naturalistic metaphysics (Lamont 13). It considers all supernatural things and beliefs to be mythical, hence warranting dismissal. It is also conceived of the idea that human beings are products of nature rather than supernatural creation. The earthly experience is more important than any forms of predestination or determinism. In Prince Machiavelli maps a political ideology that values citizen active participation in public life as opposed to the idea of waiting for divine repudiation and salvation. The essence of virtue is central to humanist thought and action. Machiavelli like all other humanists saw virtue in those with power to rule. A virtuous ruling class had the capacity for more efficient and accountable governance. He goes on to argue that an elite ruling class was not sufficient enough for political stability. A stable political system needs power. He observed that a political system that had poor organization led to its subjects bad behavior which in the end resulted in it getting attacked by outside enemies. Machiavelli s project was to separate the political from the moral and he thought this did not necessarily benefit the ruler but the general populace. His civic humanism is found in his assertion that a prince should not resort to mistreating his subjects. When he is feared enough, the state is strong and every citizen does their civic duty. An individual can learn how to write a virus or launch a full blown distributed denial of service attack against the desired target with some light reading and little trial and error. In chapter 7 of Cases in international relations: pathways to conflict and cooperation it contains a case study about the war on cyber wars and briefly explains the different types of attacks that have recently been taking place, with most of them involving the United States. It begins with the author of the case study Glenn Hastedt stating a quote from a former head of the CIA, Michael Hayden stating, rarely has something been so important and so talked about with less clarity and less understanding. • 10. My Experience With Doctor Visits Twisted Something was wrong. Every fiber within me was screaming this but my mind refused to accept it. The nausea, lack of energy, and the constant feeling of being tired were becoming commonplace in my daily life. The thought of going to see a doctor was not something I was looking forward to and had not been entertained frequently by me in the past. I had always taken pride in being active and healthy. Unbeknownst to me, doctor visits would become a regular, unpleasant, occurrence for me in the months to follow. It was a cool crisp fall morning in October 2013. The air had the distinct aroma of the winter months that were pressing hard to reveal themselves. A light breeze softly scattered the leaves gently across our front yard. It held the promise of becoming a beautiful day, but not for me. Thinking back, I remember how I used to love this time of year, but this year felt very different. My husband Darrell and I had finally found the perfect house to rent after a year of searching. Even though we hated the process of moving it was something we had looked forward to for such a long time. Darrell was up early that morning packing, labeling, and busying himself with various other tasks required for such an event. Normally this was something I would gladly have jumped right in and helped with. However, I was not as energetic as he was. • 11. What Is The Theme Of Games At Twilight By Anita Deswi Games at twilight is a short story written by Anita Desai. The story is about a young boy called Ravi who plays hide and seek with his brothers and sisters in a very hot summer day. He wants to win the game so that he can have all the glory of beating his relatives. He hides in a very dark shed and he waits for the right moment to get out, touch the den and eventually win the game. I believe that the last part of the story is the most important because the writer presents the innocence of a child and how he feels when he understands that he is not the centre of attention. Ravi was sure that he won and was the champion, the one and only winner of the game since he was not found by Raghu. Desai shows Ravi s excitement and satisfaction about ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Desai conveys Ravi s feelings by the use of irony in the phrase He would not follow them, he would not be included in this funeral game. He had wanted victory and triumph not a funeral. This technique provides a twist in the plot of the story because Ravi has won the game, but in reality, he has lost since he was forgotten. In my opinion, this particular line is very important in the story because it shows the contrast between what Ravi really wanted and what he got at the end. He wished to be the winner and have all the victory but instead he is completely forgotten and the children have moved to other activities and games. The pause used after the two words victory and triumph makes the reader think of the kid s bad luck since not only he did not win and triumphed, he found himself attending a funeral game . Looking closely to the metaphoric word funeral we can say that it reflects the death of his innocence. This occurs when he actually understands that not always everyone will be around you, even your relatives. This phrase shows an unexpected ending for Ravi and the reader which creates an anti climax ending. All people have a distinct social location that is defined by their social class, gender, ability, race, age, religion, sexual orientation, and geographic location. Membership within each group brings forth a certain set of social roles and rules, power, and privilege (or lack of), which heavily influence a person s identity and how they see the world. 2. The social problem I decided to explain was the growing rate of simple and complex terrorist attacks in developed countries. In the past few years we ve seen a significant spike in the rise of terrorist attacks in the United States and it allies and its causing a major social problem. Whether it be a bombing or just driving a van through a crowd of people, these attacks effect people in multiple ways. One of the main ways is that it causes people to be afraid to go outside and socialize which causes a disconnect between the population. Another way is that it cause the citizens to mistrust the government, because it is supposed to keeping them safe and a terror attack being successfully carried out means the government failed at its job. There are many ways this could be fixed, but the problem is that a lot of Americans aren t willing to do them because they involve giving up certain amounts of freedom. By this I mean allowing the government to look at digital data on people as well as conversations to attempt to stop attacks before the begin. Another way is to give the police and other feral law enforcement agencies more power to arrest or detain terrorist suspects. This issue is one that a lot of people are currently trying to come up with solutions to, and I think it will take a while before we are able to come to one clear way to deal with this ... The Battle of the Bulge Essay The Battle of the Bulge The post D Day Allied assault that swept through France was halted by Hitler s unexpected counter attack through the Ardennes, resulting in a confrontation named the Battle of the Bulge. They had liberated most of France in a matter of months, and were now marching towards the Ruhr River, which was the gateway to the heartland of Germany. Antwerp, the prize of the assault, was still heavily defended by mines, and it took months to actually open the vitally important port (Goalrick 27). Farther south, General Hodges First Army Group was preparing to breach the West Wall and take Aachen, a very important and historical city to the Germans. His attack began on October 2nd, and was a very difficult battle. Two German Panzer divisions were sent to garrison the city. Hodges broke through though on October 21st, marking Aachen as the first major German city to fall into Allied hands (Goalrick 28). On the German side, Hitler was running out of options. Military Decision Making Process ( Mdmp ) Military Decision Making Process (MDMP) SGT Alexander, Joseph Non commission Officers Academy Senior Leader Course ALC 166 16 Phase 1 dL Abstract The historical process of creating and implementation of the Military Decision Making Process has changed significantly since World War I. The US Army did not have a published staff doctrine or guidance to assist commanders in the decision making process. The Regulations for Field Maneuvers (1910), did not provide staff guidance. In 1914, the field service regulation (FSR) identified the need for decision making processes. The Staff Officer Field Manual (1932), complied principles, data, and information that was intended to guide the operations of staff of all units and territorial commands. The Staff Officer Field Manual (1932), was a detailed manual that explained staff functions and more complete commander estimates of implementation time. Introduction The Military Decision Making Process (MDMP) is a repeating plan of procedures used to understand the situation and mission. The MDMP is used to develop a course of action and produce an operation plan or order. The MDMP integrates the commander, staff, subordinate, headquarters personnel, and other stakeholders involved in the planning process. We need the MDMP because it allows the leader to execute orders and planning decisions. The MDMP aids in the collaboration and planning with the higher headquarters. The higher headquarters ... Yet, what we do not know is that it is very possible that we could be sitting in a room with a future killer. When we hear the words serial killer or murderer, we most often see pictures of the famous killers or the ones actors portray on tv, but one of the biggest things we do not see are pictures of children. The biggest twist of all though is according to the Justice Department, it estimates about 10 percent of all homicides are committed by juveniles under the age of 18. Many juveniles are being tried as adults and possibly being locked up because of the crimes that they do, depending on how bad the crime is and the juvenile s criminal history. Most children do not really know what they did or why they did but that does not excuse the fact that they took another person s life, regardless of what was actually going on during the time. Kids who do adult crimes should be put away from society for protection against themselves and others. As Edwin Curley once quoted O Connor is often labelled as a Catholic writer, but there is nothing peculiarly Catholic, or even Christian about her dark view of human nature (Curley 31). Rather than dissecting the various elements that O Connor utilizes to intertwine human nature with religion, Curley examines her writing and automatically claims that her work had nothing particularly Catholic, or even Christian on O Connor s work. Furthermore, Douglas Leonard expresses that O Connor realizes the flimsiness of her old form of Christianity: her religion has consisted of nothing more than platitudes which she manipulated to suit her own purposes and with which she ...
