Melbourne Magistrate s Court Case
For the purpose of this report, a visit to the Melbourne Magistrate s Court was made on 22nd March,
2016. On this day, the second day of a four day committal hearing was heard regarding the matter of
Omer Cicekdag, presided over by Magistrate Ann Collins.
The matter of Omer Cicekdag was that of criminal nature, as it is alleged the defendant committed
murder. In July of 2015, Ali Duyar (the victim) was found in the middle of the Bloomsfield Road,
Keysborough, at approximately 5.30pm having suffered significant gunshot wounds. Duyar was taken
to the Alfred Hospital in a critical condition but died overnight. In statements given by witnesses at the
hearing, Omer Cicekdag (the defendant) had shown his firearms to members of the family. Following
the incident, one of the two firearms he had in his possession was given to his sister by him in a bag.
The weapon was subsequently handed into the police.
As mentioned earlier, case at the outlined period of time was two days into a four day committal
hearing. Committal ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Throughout the defence s cross examination of the first witness, it became very clear that the lawyer
was acting to undermine the veracity and reasonableness of her statement, done so by repeated
insinuations that her memory was at fault. This approach was seen again while cross examining the
second witness, where the defence relentlessly chipped away in a dogged fashion at the character of
the witness through mention of his prior criminal convictions. The defence also seemed to be trading
on the fact that the witness was intimidated by being in court, and also his apparent limited mental
facilities. The role of the adversarial advocate was also reflected by the prosecution solicitor, who in re
examination of the first witness sought to focus on points made by the witness that established a
distasteful character of the

The Different Values of Hindus and Americans Illustrated...
This Blessed House is a story that focuses on two distinct characters that have a different perception
about each other and their religious values. Sanjeev and Twinkle is a Hindu couple in an arranged
marriage; these characters represent two different ways of looking at life and appreciating it. In
focusing on the characterization of both characters Sanjeev and Twinkle the audience gets an
understanding on the different values that Hindus and Americans share and also how religions can
affect how people perceive things in life. Religious artifacts Twinkle is quite an interesting and open

Sanjeev is a closed minded person and total opposite of Twinkle altogether. Sanjeev has a more
serious attitude and is not open about most things especially the religious artifacts. We should call the

other people think about him Twinkle I can t have people I work with see this statue in my lawn

things that Twinkle does. For example she sometimes spat a little when she spoke, or left her
undergarments after removing them at night at the foot of their bed rather than depositing them in the
laundry hamper (Lahiri 142). It seems that Sanjeev becomes jealous of the way people are reacting to
her and not him; she had everyone s attention, your wife s wow (Lahiri 153).
Sanjeev has never once been in love and while thinking about Twinkle he did not know if he loved her
(Lahiri 147). His mother hints to him, you need a wife to look after and love (Lahiri 148); she was the
total package, pretty, from a high caste system, and also about to get a masters degree, but the main
ingredient, love, was missing. Sanjeev graduated from MIT and at 33 already has over a dozen people

Electronic Medical Records
Computer Based Medical Records Abstract In the medical field there have been a lot of technological
advances and making health records electronic is one of them. The days of having a paper health
record are almost obsolete. An electronic health record keeps a patient s medical information and
history on a computer which is accessible to more people in less time. I will explain how the
continuity, communication, coordination and accountability of the electronic health record can help
the medical office. I will explain what can be included in the electronic health record. As an advocate
of the electronic health record I will also explain some disadvantages to the electronic system.
Computer Based Medical Records Electronic ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
All the patients files should be backed up at least on a weekly basis to ensure that none of the
information is lost. (HIPAA, 2011) Another way for accountability of the electronic health record is to
have each person in the office has a key card or password to access the system. This will allow for the
physician to check back and see if anyone is releasing information or making changes that are not
authorized. This also allows for physicians to find out who made changes to a patients record if
information is inaccurate. (HIPAA, 2011) Electronic Health Records will include the same
information as the paper record. This includes basic patient information such as demographics,
medical history, medications, allergies, laboratory results, radiology images, and billing information.
(2006) Each individual doctor can specialize their system and what they want it to include. They can
add different components to the electronic health record that are important to them and needed in their
practice. (2006) Even though I am an advocate for the electronic health record there are drawbacks to
the system. Each individual physician will have to determine if the drawbacks are worth the
advantages of the system. One of the drawbacks to the system is privacy. Privacy will always be a big
factor. Some patients may not like the idea of having their medical information easily accessible by
almost anybody. (The HWN Team, 2009) Electronic health records

The Native Americans And The Europeans
When the Europeans conquered the Native Americans; both groups had little understanding of each
other, especially their cultures. The Native Americans had a rich through history that allowed them to
be almost as developed as the Europeans. However, the Europeans overlooked this because the Native
Americans had not established the same man made medical and agricultural developments as the
Europeans. Conversely, the Native Americans thought that the Europeans were too concerned with
dead objects, and took their land for granted. There are many controversial debates over who was
worse: the Native Americans or the Europeans, yet, it s evident that warfare, ritual torture, and cruelty
were apparent in both societies. The Europeans had not known what the Native Americans had
achieved, and the struggles they d overcome. The history of the Native Americans began in Siberia.
Many scholars hypothesize that the first Americans came from Siberia and traveled into Alaska. The
colder climate of the Ice Age made an ice bridge across what is now the Bering Strait. Unfortunately,
the bridge started to melt without warning, causing the people in Alaska to become trapped. A group
of Native Americans known as today s Navajo and Apache came to the rescue when their construction
of boats advanced and allowed them to be durable enough to travel across the strait. These Athabascan
speaking people traveled from Canada and later reached the American southwest. The Paleo Indians
were next to create

Comparing Pride In Othello And Oedipus The King
Tragedies that befall a true hero in a play sometimes are caused by that person s pride. Oedipus and
Othello show readers the true character of being a tragic hero and show how pride can lead to
devastating consequences. Pride s effect on individuals can be subtle from the start, and more often
than not will manifest itself fully when that person realizes, from their actions, the consequences of
being prideful. Sophocles and Shakespeare both write about prideful men in their plays Oedipus Rex
and The Tragedy of Othello. The prideful actions each man takes, which they believe to be noble,
causes their lives and the lives of the people around them to be ruined by tragedy. From these tragic
tales, we can compare the way each man rose to power, ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Othello also goes through change; from a man who constantly is aware of how reputation dictates a
man position in society to a man full of shame from losing said reputation because of the terrible
actions he takes in a fit of rage. Othello s change was mainly due to him listening to the lies Iago told
about Desdemona and Cassio. Othello had no idea that, his so called friend and compatriot, was a
villainous person capable of lying to him. He believed Iago so much that he lost all self control and
committed a horrible act. Unlike Oedipus, Othello could have chosen his own fate. He was not bound
by any gods will and could have inquired more about the so called truths Iago was telling him about
his wife, but by listening to Iago, and like Oedipus, he also loses those things most important to him.
First, he loses his love Desdemona by suffocating her. Even though he was her killer, they both shared
a love that she wanted to save; and from her deathbed, she forgave him by lying about who was her
killer. When asked by Emilia, O, who hath done this deed (1535), Desdemona replies, Nobody I
myself (1535). The second loss to Othello, like Oedipus, was his reputation and position in society.
Since the truth about Desdemona s death was known, Othello was stripped

Similarities Between Picasso And Matisse
Some think rivalry is two people that holds onto totally different believes and don t fit together well.
But Matisse and Picasso proved to the society that rivalry isn t always negative, it also brings onboard
competition, inspiration, motivation, friendship and more. Ever after Gertrude Stein arranged a meet
between the two, Picasso and Matisse became rivals for the rest of their life. Both were influential
artist that have dominated the art of the twentieth century. Even though, they were rivals, Picasso and
Matisse envied each other s artwork. Some describe their relationship as a game of chess, the back and

According to the Steins, Matisse and Picasso are two gifted men whose temperaments and strengths
were more different. It was only natural that the two artists would see themselves as rivals. When the
two men meet, Matisse s career was beginning to take off. On March 19th, 1906, his second one man
show opened at a Private Gallery where he exhibited fifty five paintings, along with a number of
sculptures, watercolors, drawings, and lithographs. The paintings ranged in date from 1897 to the
current year, so the exhibition served as a retrospective that gave a clear idea of his art development.
For the 1906 Salon exhibition, Matisse only showed a single painting, Le Bonheur de vivre (Fig. 5),
which was the largest and most daring canvas he had ever done. Matisse s creation of The women
with the hat (Fig. 3) had unexpectedly shocked people, but with le Bonheur de vivre. Matisse appear
to have purposely set out this painting to create a shocking effect. That Matisse wanted his painting to
be a kind of manifesto. Leo Stein bought the painting and declared it to be the most important painting
done in our time. And was hung up high in Gertrude and Leo s studio. Leo s high opinion of Le
Bonheur de vivre must have vexed Picasso. Picasso was working on Gertrude s portrait (Fig. 2) at the
time he and Matisse first met. The sensation Matisse s painting created, made it difficult for Picasso to

Strategic Planning And Strategic Management Essay
Before a business can strategically plan for the future, it must understand the overall strategic
management process. According to Abraham (2012), Strategic management is nothing less than
steering and managing a company to be successful over time not just for the next quarter or year, but
for the long term. (sec. 1.1). Many questions will be answered during this process. What direction
should the company go in, what industry will it compete in, and what products or services will be
featured? (Abraham, 2012, sec. 1.1). Strategic planning and strategic implementation are the two
primary parts of strategic management. This paper will focus on strategic planning. The purpose of
this paper is to describe a detailed strategic plan for The Club at Hidden Creek that will allow it to

The Silk Road And The Silk Road
As the people of ancient times begin to trade from long distances within their respective countries
many country leaders begin to wonder whether it was possible to create a road that connected the
Mediterranean countries to the Chinese countries by way of Mesopotamia and Central Asian.
Basically with all these countries trading with and long distances these trading routes begin to link
from the Mediterranean to Central Asia and part of East Asia best becoming known as the Silk Road
which in those times was used by many countries starting with the Parthians a ruling Dynasty from
Iran.
Furthermore while the Silk Road progress many countries begin to trade fruits medicines metals
artwork products and many other things with each other. By 200 BCE many Persian products were in
China and many Asian products were in Persia so naturally many countries were able to acquire things
that they had never seen before from another country so people were able to have those rare that were
so rare before the invention of the Silk Road. Also the invention brought better communication
between those countries in which they didn t really have before the Silk Road because of the long
distances and difficulties between the countries that wanted to communicate with each other.
Mainly the Silk Road could not have really function without the nomads in central Asia because the
nomads were able to provide animals Animal handlers and protection what made the pastoral nomads

Raymond Chandler Research Paper
He looked about as inconspicuous as a tarantula on a slice of angel food cake. These were the kinds of
phrases that Raymond Chandler, a great American author of the early twentieth century, used to
captivate and enthral a wide audience. He used this skill to navigate and lead the newly emerging
mystery genre during the Modernist Movement. Chandler was born on July 23, 1888 in Chicago, but
was educated in England, France, and Germany. Chandler published 27 poems and wrote for English
newspapers before he returned to the United States in 1912. He lived an intensely interesting life, and

Chandler was educated in the classics in a London prep school, and continued his higher education in
civil service and international law in France and Germany. He began his writing career as a nonfiction
journalist in England for newspapers such as The Daily Express and The Western Gazette , but then
moved back to the United States to live in Los Angeles with his mother in 1912. In 1917, Chandler
enlisted as a Private in the Canadian Army, and was sent to the French front lines of World War I.
Chandler returned home wounded and concussed, while the rest of his squad was killed in combat.
Chandler had to live with being the only survivor of his group, giving him a darker outlook on life.
Despite having the tools to become an author upon returning home, Raymond Chandler instead
became the Vice President of a Southern California oil syndicate, as oil in California at this time was,
beginning to gush (Pierce) in a time period often referred to as The Roaring Twenties. Raymond
Chandler met his wife Cissy Pascal and married her in 1924 right after his mother passed away due to
illness. She had not approved of them as a couple. While business was booming and Chandler was
incredibly successful during the twenties, this was also the decade of Prohibition. Chandler became a
heavy alcoholic soon after the national ban on alcohol was lifted and found himself being fired from
his job. His life changed then, and he found himself among a group of lonely and struggling
Americans following the Great Depression era. He used this time as an opportunity to observe that
crime was a big industry in the city in both successful and poor times. With his writing, Raymond
Chandler managed to tap into the vast reservoir of mass discontent (Raskin, 2013). Chandler decided
not to focus his skills on developing intricate plot lines, so instead he focused more on depicting

Mexican Americans Essay
Starting in the late nineteenth century until the end of World War II, the immigration policy in the
United States experienced dramatic changes that altered the pace of immigration. High rates of
immigration sparked adverse emotions and encouraged restrictive legislation and numerous bills in
Congress advocated the suspension of immigration and the deportation of non Americans (Wisconsin
Historical Society). Mexican American history was shaped by several bills in Congress and efforts to
deport all non Americans from the United States. The United States was home to several Spanish
origin groups, prior to the Declaration of Independence. The term Mexican American was a label used

Mexican Americans and American Indians have been traditionally more disadvantaged than other
Americans in regards to income, and education (Mitz). According to the 2007 U.S. Census Bureau
report, 21.5 percent of Mexican Americans and 25 percent of American Indians live at or below the
poverty level (Health). However, both groups have been able to maintain a large majority of their
traditions when compared to other Americans. Their traditions and culture can be seen through
religious beliefs, value systems, cuisine, and economic structures (Healey). Despite over a century of
powerful attempts to Americanize both Mexican Americans and American Indians, both groups have
successfully been able to preserve their heritage and traditions. Mexican Americans also shared
problems of poverty and discrimination with African Americans. According to Healy, Mexican
Americans, like African Americans, have been viewed as cheap, unskilled agricultural labor that has
been methodically excluded from mainstream America. Unlike most immigrants from Europe, who
lived in urban areas, Mexican Americans and African Americans were prone to live and work in rural
parts of the United States. Because both groups lived in less urban areas they had limited resources for
education, skill development and economic opportunities. At the same time, however, Mexican

Time Essay
Time
Time is defined as a measured or measurable period, a continuum that lacks spatial dimensions. This
broad definition lacks the simple explanation that humans are searching for. There are many scientists,
philosophers, and thinkers who have tried to put time into understanding terms. The aspects of time
that we can understand are only based on what we can perceive, observe, and calculate.
Every day we look at our watches or clocks. We plan our day around different times of the day. Time
tells us when to eat, when to sleep, and how long to do things for. If time were based on these simple
terms, then this mysterious enigma would not be in debate. There are the issues of space and time;
what is the relationship ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
When space and the universe began, the existence of time also began. This theory is well known as the
Big
Bang Theory. About fifteen billion years ago, the universe was comprised of very hot compressed gas,
as a fireball.
This is contrary to the idea of the universe beginning as a lump of matter somewhere in the void of
space. Matter was created as a result of the Big Bang. Space and time was also created. So, with these
ideas, time had a beginning.
Looking at it a different way, in the early universe, the normal concept of time is uncertain. Our
accepted perceptions, and calculations of time can t be explained all the way back to the Big Bang.
There is no way to define time in that era. This is another way that time has a beginning; as far back as
we can calculate. Space time began at the same time. According to Hawking, you can t look at the
universe using general relativity without finding a big bang or something similar to that at the very
beginning. So what does time mean to people now? Time is different as you go through time zones.
Everyone has their own perception of time. Nobody is ever on the same schedule, doing things exactly
like another person. Even to go as far as other galaxies and planets, time cannot be existing on the
same terms. In short, time is not absolute.
In the space time continuum, space bends whenever there is a mass. It s kind of like a bowling ball

Saving Private Ryan History
The American uniforms in Saving Private Ryan are also exceedingly accurate to the World War Two
time period. Scene 11 (Dog Tags) has the best depiction of American uniforms. This scene starts with
the main characters sitting at a crate, digging through dog tags to find Ryan s name. They then take
notice of the Airborne Division passing by and stop digging through the tags. Because of this, they
start asking the passing Division if they know Ryan. One of the passing men does know Ryan and he
tells them where he should be. This ends the scene. In this scene you can clearly see both regular
Marine uniforms and Airborne uniforms. In the book Army Uniforms of World War 2 by Andrew
Mollo, he says this about the Airborne uniforms, Paratroopers wore a special combat dress consisting
of steel helmet with forked chin strap and rubber chin cup, combat jacket with fly front and large
diagonal patch breast and side pockets, and trousers with a large patch pocket on the outside thigh.
They also received high lace up brown leather ankle boots with rubber soles with later became
standard army issue. The movie really nailed these uniforms. They had every thing that should be

The Misuse Of Technology In The Veldt By Ray Bradbury
We rely on technology nowadays to do simple tasks for us like dry our hair, research answers on the
web, and watch television for entertainment and for the news. Technology is being over used for very
simple things, what if we relied on them too much as a whole for us to forget doing simple task?
Would it be helpful to us that we rely on technology to do everything for us? In the story The Veldt ,
the author Ray Bradbury communicates that the misuse of technology can lead to unforeseen
disadvantages, he demonstrates the theme through his uses of imagery and symbolism.
The author Ray Bradbury uses imagery of the setting, which is the house, to develop the misuse of
technology. The story begins with the Hadley s being delusional about their children, thinking there is
something mentally wrong with them because of what the children has portrayed in the nursery. The
nursery in the story is described as an African Veldt, ...presently an African veldt appeared, in three
dimensions, on all sides, in color reproduced to the final pebble and bit of straw. This quote implies
how the nursery can be realistic due to the children thoughts. By doing this, Bradbury made the
parents scream at the end of the story as the lions started to edge slowly forward towards them. That
sun. He could feel it on his neck, still, like a hot paw. And the lions. And the smell of blood. This
sentence suggests how the African Veldt looks like a menacing place to be because of the lions that are

includes REDD, plus conservation of forest carbon stocks, sustainable management of forest, and
enhancement of forest carbon stock.
REDD+ with carbon enhancement objective may increase conversion of bio diverse natural ecosystem
to monoculture with quick species growth. In addition, increase in afforestation and reforestation will
be common by replacing high biodiversity non forest ecosystem (Swan and McNelly, 2011).
Conservation of forest in REDD+ area can lead to displacement (leakage) of deforestation and
degradation to other non REDD+ site. For example, in Indonesia, targeting carbon dense peat land
forest will increase pressure to ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The restriction to the local people for the use of forest products and timber logging can increase the
demand for these products and market value. The control of the deforestation and degradation in
REDD+ site increases the agricultural land crisis and demand for the land. Studies indicate that cross
border leakage is a major problem in many areas. In Vietnam between 1987 and 2006, about 39% of
the forest cover was recovered, which was balanced by the forest loss in the neighboring countries
including Lao PDR, Cambodia, and Indonesia (Barlow, et. al., 2012). The conservation or restoration
project in the REDD+ areas without considering the immediate or underlying causes of forest loss can
be more prone to leakage (Miles and Dickson, 2010) causing deforestation elsewhere to meet the
demand for agricultural products and forest needs (Barlow, et. al., 2012).
In the current management system in Nepal, community forestry (CF) is one of the effective
mechanisms to reduce deforestation and increase greenery in the country, but there is uncertainty to
what extent CF supports biodiversity conservation (Acharya, 2003). Community forestry has
contributed to improving and diversifying livelihoods by mobilizing locally available natural forest.
As per the Forest Act (1993), community forest user groups (CFUGs) retain 100% of revenues
generated and 25% are used in forest development

Disregarding the semi tables that display the process of calculations, the first column of my table
depicts the average amount of DDT ingestion for each and every species. Since I knew the formula to
get the said data, I was able to process this column with comparably more ease than the other ones.
The second column depicts the amount of energy for one species under each category. For example,
only one phytoplankton contains 200 kcal within its body. Likewise, that column of my table depicts
the amount of energy that each individual of the species have within their bodies. The next column,
column C, shows the total amount of energy for each and every categories through kcal. For instance,
there are 100 phytoplanktons in the lake. Each phytoplankton contains 200 kcal of energy within their
bodies. Therefore, if you multiply 200 with 100, you get the total amount of energy which is 20000.
The last column basically illustrates the name of the trophic level the species belong in this lab. You
can see that the phytoplanktons, which are a type of

Essay On Salem Witchcraft
Dating back to the bible and the development of structured religion anything pertaining to the devil
and witchcraft was condemned. Witchcraft is known as the practice of magic and the utilization of
spells and spirits. It was believed in the early times of societies that if you performed witchcraft you
worked with the devil and were considered evil. England had ruled in 1641 that witchcraft was a
crime, around this time in England and its surrounding countries in Europe there was an abundance of
witch hunts and trials taking place. Witch hunting had become a phenomenon. In 1626, European
Puritans migrated to the United States and established Salem. These same Puritans had the same ideals
as when they were in Europe and were still very religious. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Salem Town needed the village for food because of the farmland whereas Salem Village needed the
town for trade, crop prices and tax purposes. One thing to remember is at this time religion and
government went hand and hand. The people of Salem believed in combining religion and government
where all aspects relied on the puritans beliefs. With Salem Village s new church they were able to self
govern themselves. When the village first formed its church they had difficulties getting started and
the first three ministers were not ordained making it difficult to rule the church. It was not until 12
years after the church first formed that they were able to have an ordained minister, Samuel Parris.
Samuel Parris caused issues though due to his strict, overbearing, ministering ways. The people were
not fond of the way he acted nor did they agree with his contract and his pay. Samuel Parris was
arguing at the time that he should have the right when he is done serving Salem Village as a minister

Speech Codes Theory Essay
I. Speech codes theory Speech codes theory is an account of communication as a deeply cultured
human activity. The theory, and the empirical research on which it is built, demonstrate that the kinds
of local knowledge people deploy to talk about to characterize, interpret, and rationalize their
communicative conduct is indeed local, particular knowledge, and that such knowledge can be
discovered and described through systematic inquiry. This article describes the key theoretical
commitments of speech codes theory, identifies its six propositions, illustrates research within the
tradition, and assesses its purposes. Speech codes theory was first published in prototypical form with
an introduction to the concept of speech codes and a presentation of four empirically grounded
principles about speech codes (Philipsen, 1992). Then it was presented as a formal theoretical
statement with five empirically grounded propositions, four of which were carried over intact from the
earlier version (Philipsen, 1997). Speech codes theory was created for two purposes. One purpose was
to distill some of what might be learned from a large body of fieldwork research on culturally
distinctive ways of speaking. When the first version of speech codes theory was written, there had
been established a large body of fieldwork about cultural ways of speaking that had been conducted
and published under the auspices of the ethnography of speaking (Hymes, 1968). Some 250 of these
studies were cited in

The California Wetlands Essay
The California Wetlands
Smelly, insect infested, and disease ridden are many words that people have used to describe the
attributes of wetlands in our country. Until recently it was thought that wetlands served very little use
as a part of our ecosystem. However, as the developers began to drain and destroy these wetlands in
order to build housing developments and commercial buildings environmental scientists emerged from
the woodwork. These environmental scientists found the value and absolute necessity for wetlands
and brought it to the attention of politicians. The politicians are the only ones who could slow the
destruction of wetlands with their policies.
Before the politicians could begin to construct policies to protect the ... Show more content on

A major function of wetlands is that they naturally clean the table waters. With the use of
microorganisms it is possible to naturally clean the water supply much better than many water
purification plants. A benefit of purifying water with the use of wetlands is that not only does it save
the taxpayers money but it also saves the environment from the pollution that a water purification
plant would produce. Another function of wetlands is its storage ability. In the event of a large storm
or heavy rain wetlands can store the floodwaters so that they do not over run the near by area. To
reduce the effects of flooding wetlands are able to store stormwater and gradually returning it to
surface flow, reducing the effects of erosion by stabilizing soils, and dampening the effects of wave
action . M. Dennison et.al. 1993. Wetlands also provide a feeding ground and habitat to many fish,
waterfowl and other wildlife. Many endangered birds nest and breed on the shores of wetlands and
these habitats are crucial for their survival. The destruction of wetlands has become a major problem,
especially in California.
In the United States the destruction of wetlands had been enormous, however in the state of California
it has been estimated that nearly ninety three percent of the wetlands have been destroyed. With profit
producing coastal real estate the hungry pockets of California developers

What Is True Friendship Definition Essay
What is my definition of true friendship? True friendship is based on how much love and trust there is
for one another. You may have a lot of friends in this life, but only a few of them are your real friends.
There are people you can t imagine your life without, and you and you are grateful for every day you
spend with them. Not only do you make them a better person, but they also make you the best person
you can be.
The trust you feel in a friendship is uncomparable to anything in the world. Knowing that you have
someone who you can say/tell anything to bring so much relief: even though, your friend may judge
you sometimes for what you do they ll still stick by your side. Sometimes you can be going through

Tombs In Vergina
In 1977 when renowned excavator Manolis Andronikos founded the Vergina tombs the main debate
was, and still is to this day, about whom could the remains in Tomb II be identified as. Three tombs
were discovered at Vergina and the evidence found in these quickly allowed researches to conclude
that those buried at Vergina were from a family of royalty. The evidence from the grave offerings
suggested that they were buried in the later half of the 4th Century and the age that researches
identified the remains as left only two options as to who could be buried in Tomb II; Philip II King of
Macedon or Philip III of Arrhidaeus. There is a copious amount of evidence towards both sides of this
debate and no one is yet to have a definitive argument. However, when looking at the evidence I am
going to argue that Philip II is the most likely candidate for the burials in Tomb II in Vergina. From the
abundance of grave goods uncovered at Vergina it did not take long for Andronikos ... Show more

Andronicus has implied that because the frieze had a bearded man and a younger man with distinct
eyes, and that these were characteristics known to Philip II and Alexander IV that this was therefore a
painting of them and therefore Philip IIs tomb (Reference). It can be argued that just because a
painting has a man with a beard does not necessarily indicate it is Philip II and it can also be said that
the tomb did belong to Philip III and this painting was there as they were part of his family. When
Archaeologists discover ancient sites there are many factors that have to be considered when
identifying its surroundings and objects. Despite an abundance of materials indicating that Tomb II
belonged to Philip II and not Philip III of Arrhidaeus, it still cannot be concluded that this is the

Mars Hypothesis
PROBLEM What would be the best, easiest, and cheapest way to get enough water to healthily sustain
a Mars colony of one hundred people for one year? A second question is, Is there a way to reduce the
amount of water used by each human on a daily basis?
HYPOTHESIS
My hypothesis is that the easiest, cheapest, and most sustainable source of water on Mars will be
filtration of urine. Scientists have already proved that this will work in space on the International
Space Station. A second hypothesis is that the amount of water needed by humans on mars can be cut
in half by making some simple changes.
PROCEDURE
To begin my experiment I will research information of several ways that you could potentially get
water on Mars. I will look at filtration systems, binding of hydrogen and oxygen molecules and
melting of ice that is said to be located on ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Also for any filter to be useable it has to be able to withstand the trip to mars and the landing on mars.
Another method worth exploring is the binding of hydrogen and oxygen molecules. If this works it
could potentially be more sustainable and cheaper that the alternative. For this to work it will need to
be proven on earth before going to mars. It also will need to be made a more simple process.
Additionally it will need to be safe to do within a building. The oxygen and hydrogen would also need
to be able to be sent in a pressurized form. Finally for this to work they would need a safe and efficient
way to transport it to mars. Another way to get water from mars would be the melting of ice said to be
located on the poles of mars. To make this work they would need to know for certain that there is ice
on mars. They would also need to know how to melt the ice without starting a fire. Also they would
need a way to separate the water from the dirt it is said to be mixed with. Additionally they would
need to find a way to collect the amount of dirt it would take give the entire population

Verapamil Study
More than 100 years ago, Mackenzie noted the therapeutic effect of digitalis by slowing the heart rate
in atrial fibrillation patients (1). Digoxin was the cornerstone for atrial fibrillation until verapamil was
discovered in1967; which shown to be effective in slowing the ventricular rate in atrial fibrillation by
Bender and colleagues (2). Klein and colleagues wrote a letter to the editor, in 1980, to report his
experience with verapamil digoxin interaction to result in increased serum digoxin concentrations
(SCD) by 58% (3). The first randomized study was published in The Lancet by Belz and colleagues in
1981. (12). Verapamil co administration with digoxin resulted in average of 77% increase in digoxin,
which later the range was between (5)(12). In 1981, Pedersen showed 34% reduction in total digoxin
clearance and 23% reduction in digoxin volume of distribution induced by verapamil (6). Hedman et
al. proved that digoxin biliary is the main inhibitory mechanism for verapamil (25). Pedersen and

inter individual variation in the influence of verapamil on SDC in chronic hemodialysis patients. (24).
Two case reports of asystole, one third degree AV block and two deaths for verapamil digoxin
interaction. (15 18). Gordon, et al. published a case series in, 1986, suggested lower digoxin doses for
elderly and avoiding their concomitant use with verapamil. Finally, a case report in 2003 for Japanese
male was found dead in his room. The cause of death was documented as cardiac failure due to
medications overdose. Kinoshita, et al. suggested that drug toxicity was potentiated by verapamil
digoxin and metoprolol interactions.

Similarities And Differences Between Baseball And Baseball
Baseball and softball are two demanding sports that require dedication, hard work, and athletic ability.
Softball was created to allow women to play a sport similar to baseball, without having to play with
men, which decreases the number of injuries of female players. The equipment involved has
similarities in design, but some differences were made to fit each sport for their specific needs. The
rules for each sport are also very similar with some modifications that were constructed to make both
sports unique. The way the two games are played is similar as well, but differences in strategy and
how the sports are played also make them different. Many of the differences have been put into place
to ensure injuries are reduced and allow for the games to be fairly played. The equipment utilized is
not only to protect the players, but also make playing the positions easier. Softball and baseball
players wear different styles of jerseys with numbers, baseball/softball pants, a belt, and cleats. The
uniforms make identifying fellow teammates and the opponent easier. Both sports also use a glove to
protect the athletes from injury to their hands, face, or any other part of their body. The glove also
makes fielding and catching a ball much easier. The balls used in each sport have different
characteristics. The softball is yellow in color, has a larger diameter, and has a core that does not allow
the ball to travel as far as a baseball. A baseball, however, is white in color. The baseball also has a
smaller diameter and has a core that allows the ball to go farther than a softball. The differences in
equipment are strategically placed to help distinguish between baseball and softball. Similarities
between the sports are important to keep them equal for both men and women.
The rules are identical in many cases, but changes have been made to fit each sport specifically and to
make the games fair. The amount of strikes and balls allowed for a person are the same for both
baseball and softball. This rule enforces fairness between sexes for both sports. Another rule that helps
keep equality is the infield fly rule. The infield fly rule is used to keep the defending team from
purposefully dropping a fly ball to give them

Rosenberg (1979) viewed the self as made up of 2 elements, identity which represents cognitive
variables and self esteem which represents the affective variables.
Self esteem is operationally defined as:
Individual s feelings about his or her worth as a person, derived from the evaluation of various salient
dimensions of the self, namely psychological, social and physical or any other (Rifai, 1999).
Types of Self esteem
Korman (1986) suggests three types of self esteem. They are:
Chronic Self esteem
This type is defined as a relatively persistent personality trait or dispositional state that occurs
consistently across various situations. This self esteem is a result of past experiences and focuses on
one s competencies. An individual s confidence in his/her competencies directs the individual into
situations which require the use of those competencies.
Task Specific Self esteem
Task specific self esteem is one s self perception of his/her competence concerning a particular task or
job. This type of self esteem is the result of feedback, which comes directly from the observation of he
results of one s efforts.
Socially Influenced Self esteem
This type of self esteem is a function of the expectations of others. It results from communication or
feedback from reference group members or society as a whole, concerning the value of identity and
the individual s ability to meet the expectations of the reference groups and/or the society as a whole.

Hydrocephalus Essay
Hydrocephalus
Definition
A condition affiliated with excessive fluid in the brain.
Causes, incidence, and risk factors
The fluid in the brain (cerebrospinal fluid or CSF) is formed in the brain. CSF usually circulates
through parts of the brain, its covering, and the spinal canal, and is then absorbed into the circulatory
system.
When the circulation or absorption of this fluid is blocked, or excessive fluid is produced, the volume
of fluid in the brain becomes higher than normal. The accumulation of fluid puts pressure on the brain
forcing it against the skull and damaging or destroying the tissues.
Symptoms vary depending on the cause of the obstruction to CSF circulation, the age at which the
problem develops, and the extent ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Hydrocephalus most often occurs in children, but may also occur in adults and the elderly.
Prevention
Protect the head of an infant/child from injury by handling the child carefully. Prompt treatment of
infections (such as meningitis) and other disorders associated with hydrocephalus may reduce the risk
of developing the disorder.
Symptoms
EARLY SYMPTOMS, IN INFANTS
* enlargement of the head (see increased head circumference)
* bulging fontanelles (soft spots of the head) with or without enlargement of the head size
* sutures separated
SYMPTOMS OF CONTINUED HYDROCEPHALUS
* irritability, poor temper control
* muscle spasticity (spasm
LATE SYMPTOMS
* decreased mental function
* delayed development
* decreased movement
* slow or restricted movement
* difficulty feeding
* lethargy, excessive sleepiness
* urinary incontinence (loss of control over bladder)
* brief, shrill, high pitched cry
* slow growth (child 0 5 years)
IN OLDER INFANTS AND CHILDREN
Symptoms vary depending on the amount of damage caused by pressure in the brain. Symptoms may
be similar to symptoms of progression of hydrocephalus in children, or may include the following or
other symptoms:
* headache
* vomiting
* vision changes
* crossed eyes
* uncontrolled eye movements
* loss of coordination
* poor gait (walking pattern)
* mental aberrations (such as confusion or psychosis)

Labor Unions and Relevance
Labor Unions and Relevance In the United States, labor unions are seeing an increased amount of
controversy surrounding their helpfulness to the U.S. economy. Recently, comparisons between the
successes of a company such as Toyota versus Ford have brought the issue of unions to the forefront.
Many cite the cost Ford has due to the fact that the employees are unionized and receive more benefits
at a higher cost to the company. On the other hand, many people see great benefit for Americans who
are protected under a union contract; however, it is possible to create a work environment that is
successful, safe, fair, and beneficial to employees without being a union shop. In 1953, approximately
half of the workers in the United States were ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The following meeting essentially turned into a gripe festival in which the employee complained
about the management, fellow employees, the workload, and the lack of recognition for a job well
done. Fortunately, this issue went no further. Unfortunately for this organization, most filed
complaints are more closely related to people being upset about being rightly disciplined than the
company truly committing acts contrary to the negotiated contract. The actual relevance that unions
have in today s society is shrinking, not only in numbers or employee attitudes, but politically as well.
In the Journal of Labor Research, Hurd and Pinnock (2004) dissect the reasons for the shrinking affect
unions have in politics. They say that after George W. Bush became president, his administration
worked to the disband National Partnership Council, which was set in place to promote positive
relationships with federal unions. The result of the actions from the Bush administration is a labor
movement that is less unified and therefore likely to be less effective on the political front (Hurd and
Pinnock, 2004). In order for corporations to remain competitive in the business market, they will need
to attract the talent. The talent will go to the companies that give them the best

A View From The Bridge Analysis
In the play A View From The Bridge The protagonist Eddie, an Italian immigrant, seems to have
complex relationship with who seems to be his wife s orphaned niece Catherine throughout the whole
play.
At the beginning of Act 1, Catherine and Eddie appeared to have an authoritative father and a
compliant daughter like relationship. Come over here. This command clearly highlights how
demanding and authoritative Eddie is with Catherine. The imperative verb Come illustrates how Eddie
sees himself as the man of the house, therefore he should be in control over everything, and everything
living under his roof should obey and respect him. The adverb here demonstrates that Eddie expects
Catherine to do as she s told, clearly indicating his control and how authoritative he is over Catherine.
What do you want me to do ? This question signifies how Catherine will change anything just to keep
Eddie satisfied even if she disagrees with it. The second personal pronoun you reflects how important
Eddies opinion is to Catherine. How she will yield to every demand coming out of his mouth as back
in the 1950s the man was the on who controls the household and makes all the decisions, which is one
of the reasons why Catherine is so complaint towards him in their relationship.
Arthur Miller also represented the relationship as an overprotective, jealous relationship at the start. I
m responsible for you. This proclamation clearly displays Eddie s protectiveness over Catherine.

Antibiotic Resistance Essay
Antibiotic Resistance
Antibiotics are medicines used to treat infections caused by bacteria. Antibiotic resistance means the
medicine no longer works against the bacteria. Resistance can develop if you use antibiotics the wrong
way.
When antibiotics are given in response to illnesses caused by viruses, like colds or the flu, many
normal bacteria in the body are killed. Some bacteria that are not killed may develop resistance to the
antibiotic. These bacteria may grow and cause infections that are resistant to some other antibiotics. If
this happens, the bacteria can continue to grow and cause infection.
CAUSES
Antibiotic resistance happens when bacteria come into contact with an antibiotic over and over again.
Over time, the bacteria ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

  • 2. Melbourne Magistrate s Court Case For the purpose of this report, a visit to the Melbourne Magistrate s Court was made on 22nd March, 2016. On this day, the second day of a four day committal hearing was heard regarding the matter of Omer Cicekdag, presided over by Magistrate Ann Collins. The matter of Omer Cicekdag was that of criminal nature, as it is alleged the defendant committed murder. In July of 2015, Ali Duyar (the victim) was found in the middle of the Bloomsfield Road, Keysborough, at approximately 5.30pm having suffered significant gunshot wounds. Duyar was taken to the Alfred Hospital in a critical condition but died overnight. In statements given by witnesses at the hearing, Omer Cicekdag (the defendant) had shown his firearms to members of the family. Following the incident, one of the two firearms he had in his possession was given to his sister by him in a bag. The weapon was subsequently handed into the police. As mentioned earlier, case at the outlined period of time was two days into a four day committal hearing. Committal ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Throughout the defence s cross examination of the first witness, it became very clear that the lawyer was acting to undermine the veracity and reasonableness of her statement, done so by repeated insinuations that her memory was at fault. This approach was seen again while cross examining the second witness, where the defence relentlessly chipped away in a dogged fashion at the character of the witness through mention of his prior criminal convictions. The defence also seemed to be trading on the fact that the witness was intimidated by being in court, and also his apparent limited mental facilities. The role of the adversarial advocate was also reflected by the prosecution solicitor, who in re examination of the first witness sought to focus on points made by the witness that established a distasteful character of the ... Sanjeev is a closed minded person and total opposite of Twinkle altogether. Sanjeev has a more serious attitude and is not open about most things especially the religious artifacts. We should call the Realtor. Tell him there s all this nonsense left behind (Lahiri 138). He is also self conscious about what other people think about him Twinkle I can t have people I work with see this statue in my lawn (Lahiri 147). Instead of opposites attracting in this situation, Sanjeev seems to be annoyed by the things that Twinkle does. For example she sometimes spat a little when she spoke, or left her undergarments after removing them at night at the foot of their bed rather than depositing them in the laundry hamper (Lahiri 142). It seems that Sanjeev becomes jealous of the way people are reacting to her and not him; she had everyone s attention, your wife s wow (Lahiri 153). Sanjeev has never once been in love and while thinking about Twinkle he did not know if he loved her (Lahiri 147). His mother hints to him, you need a wife to look after and love (Lahiri 148); she was the total package, pretty, from a high caste system, and also about to get a masters degree, but the main ingredient, love, was missing. • 6. Electronic Medical Records Computer Based Medical Records Abstract In the medical field there have been a lot of technological advances and making health records electronic is one of them. The days of having a paper health record are almost obsolete. An electronic health record keeps a patient s medical information and history on a computer which is accessible to more people in less time. I will explain how the continuity, communication, coordination and accountability of the electronic health record can help the medical office. I will explain what can be included in the electronic health record. As an advocate of the electronic health record I will also explain some disadvantages to the electronic system. Computer Based Medical Records Electronic ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... All the patients files should be backed up at least on a weekly basis to ensure that none of the information is lost. (HIPAA, 2011) Another way for accountability of the electronic health record is to have each person in the office has a key card or password to access the system. This will allow for the physician to check back and see if anyone is releasing information or making changes that are not authorized. This also allows for physicians to find out who made changes to a patients record if information is inaccurate. (HIPAA, 2011) Electronic Health Records will include the same information as the paper record. This includes basic patient information such as demographics, medical history, medications, allergies, laboratory results, radiology images, and billing information. (2006) Each individual doctor can specialize their system and what they want it to include. They can add different components to the electronic health record that are important to them and needed in their practice. (2006) Even though I am an advocate for the electronic health record there are drawbacks to the system. Each individual physician will have to determine if the drawbacks are worth the advantages of the system. One of the drawbacks to the system is privacy. Privacy will always be a big factor. Some patients may not like the idea of having their medical information easily accessible by almost anybody. (The HWN Team, 2009) Electronic health records ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 7. The Native Americans And The Europeans When the Europeans conquered the Native Americans; both groups had little understanding of each other, especially their cultures. The Native Americans had a rich through history that allowed them to be almost as developed as the Europeans. However, the Europeans overlooked this because the Native Americans had not established the same man made medical and agricultural developments as the Europeans. Conversely, the Native Americans thought that the Europeans were too concerned with dead objects, and took their land for granted. There are many controversial debates over who was worse: the Native Americans or the Europeans, yet, it s evident that warfare, ritual torture, and cruelty were apparent in both societies. The Europeans had not known what the Native Americans had achieved, and the struggles they d overcome. The history of the Native Americans began in Siberia. Many scholars hypothesize that the first Americans came from Siberia and traveled into Alaska. The colder climate of the Ice Age made an ice bridge across what is now the Bering Strait. Unfortunately, the bridge started to melt without warning, causing the people in Alaska to become trapped. A group of Native Americans known as today s Navajo and Apache came to the rescue when their construction of boats advanced and allowed them to be durable enough to travel across the strait. • 8. Comparing Pride In Othello And Oedipus The King Tragedies that befall a true hero in a play sometimes are caused by that person s pride. Oedipus and Othello show readers the true character of being a tragic hero and show how pride can lead to devastating consequences. Pride s effect on individuals can be subtle from the start, and more often than not will manifest itself fully when that person realizes, from their actions, the consequences of being prideful. Sophocles and Shakespeare both write about prideful men in their plays Oedipus Rex and The Tragedy of Othello. The prideful actions each man takes, which they believe to be noble, causes their lives and the lives of the people around them to be ruined by tragedy. From these tragic tales, we can compare the way each man rose to power, ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Othello also goes through change; from a man who constantly is aware of how reputation dictates a man position in society to a man full of shame from losing said reputation because of the terrible actions he takes in a fit of rage. Othello s change was mainly due to him listening to the lies Iago told about Desdemona and Cassio. Othello had no idea that, his so called friend and compatriot, was a villainous person capable of lying to him. He believed Iago so much that he lost all self control and committed a horrible act. Unlike Oedipus, Othello could have chosen his own fate. He was not bound by any gods will and could have inquired more about the so called truths Iago was telling him about his wife, but by listening to Iago, and like Oedipus, he also loses those things most important to him. First, he loses his love Desdemona by suffocating her. Even though he was her killer, they both shared a love that she wanted to save; and from her deathbed, she forgave him by lying about who was her killer. When asked by Emilia, O, who hath done this deed (1535), Desdemona replies, Nobody I myself (1535). The second loss to Othello, like Oedipus, was his reputation and position in society. It was only natural that the two artists would see themselves as rivals. When the two men meet, Matisse s career was beginning to take off. On March 19th, 1906, his second one man show opened at a Private Gallery where he exhibited fifty five paintings, along with a number of sculptures, watercolors, drawings, and lithographs. The paintings ranged in date from 1897 to the current year, so the exhibition served as a retrospective that gave a clear idea of his art development. For the 1906 Salon exhibition, Matisse only showed a single painting, Le Bonheur de vivre (Fig. 5), which was the largest and most daring canvas he had ever done. Matisse s creation of The women with the hat (Fig. 3) had unexpectedly shocked people, but with le Bonheur de vivre. While business was booming and Chandler was incredibly successful during the twenties, this was also the decade of Prohibition. Chandler became a heavy alcoholic soon after the national ban on alcohol was lifted and found himself being fired from his job. His life changed then, and he found himself among a group of lonely and struggling Americans following the Great Depression era. He used this time as an opportunity to observe that crime was a big industry in the city in both successful and poor times. • 14. Time Essay Time Time is defined as a measured or measurable period, a continuum that lacks spatial dimensions. This broad definition lacks the simple explanation that humans are searching for. There are many scientists, philosophers, and thinkers who have tried to put time into understanding terms. The aspects of time that we can understand are only based on what we can perceive, observe, and calculate. Every day we look at our watches or clocks. We plan our day around different times of the day. Time tells us when to eat, when to sleep, and how long to do things for. If time were based on these simple terms, then this mysterious enigma would not be in debate. There are the issues of space and time; what is the relationship ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... When space and the universe began, the existence of time also began. This theory is well known as the Big Bang Theory. About fifteen billion years ago, the universe was comprised of very hot compressed gas, as a fireball. This is contrary to the idea of the universe beginning as a lump of matter somewhere in the void of space. Matter was created as a result of the Big Bang. Space and time was also created. So, with these ideas, time had a beginning. Looking at it a different way, in the early universe, the normal concept of time is uncertain. Our accepted perceptions, and calculations of time can t be explained all the way back to the Big Bang. There is no way to define time in that era. This is another way that time has a beginning; as far back as we can calculate. Space time began at the same time. According to Hawking, you can t look at the universe using general relativity without finding a big bang or something similar to that at the very beginning. So what does time mean to people now? Time is different as you go through time zones. Everyone has their own perception of time. Nobody is ever on the same schedule, doing things exactly like another person. Even to go as far as other galaxies and planets, time cannot be existing on the same terms. In short, time is not absolute. In the space time continuum, space bends whenever there is a mass. The Misuse Of Technology In The Veldt By Ray Bradbury We rely on technology nowadays to do simple tasks for us like dry our hair, research answers on the web, and watch television for entertainment and for the news. Technology is being over used for very simple things, what if we relied on them too much as a whole for us to forget doing simple task? Would it be helpful to us that we rely on technology to do everything for us? In the story The Veldt , the author Ray Bradbury communicates that the misuse of technology can lead to unforeseen disadvantages, he demonstrates the theme through his uses of imagery and symbolism. The author Ray Bradbury uses imagery of the setting, which is the house, to develop the misuse of technology. The nursery in the story is described as an African Veldt, ...presently an African veldt appeared, in three dimensions, on all sides, in color reproduced to the final pebble and bit of straw. By doing this, Bradbury made the parents scream at the end of the story as the lions started to edge slowly forward towards them. That sun. He could feel it on his neck, still, like a hot paw. In addition, increase in afforestation and reforestation will be common by replacing high biodiversity non forest ecosystem (Swan and McNelly, 2011). The restriction to the local people for the use of forest products and timber logging can increase the demand for these products and market value. The control of the deforestation and degradation in REDD+ site increases the agricultural land crisis and demand for the land. In Vietnam between 1987 and 2006, about 39% of the forest cover was recovered, which was balanced by the forest loss in the neighboring countries including Lao PDR, Cambodia, and Indonesia (Barlow, et. al., 2012). The conservation or restoration project in the REDD+ areas without considering the immediate or underlying causes of forest loss can be more prone to leakage (Miles and Dickson, 2010) causing deforestation elsewhere to meet the demand for agricultural products and forest needs (Barlow, et. al., 2012). In the current management system in Nepal, community forestry (CF) is one of the effective mechanisms to reduce deforestation and increase greenery in the country, but there is uncertainty to what extent CF supports biodiversity conservation (Acharya, 2003). The theory, and the empirical research on which it is built, demonstrate that the kinds of local knowledge people deploy to talk about to characterize, interpret, and rationalize their communicative conduct is indeed local, particular knowledge, and that such knowledge can be discovered and described through systematic inquiry. This article describes the key theoretical commitments of speech codes theory, identifies its six propositions, illustrates research within the tradition, and assesses its purposes. Speech codes theory was first published in prototypical form with an introduction to the concept of speech codes and a presentation of four empirically grounded principles about speech codes (Philipsen, 1992). Then it was presented as a formal theoretical statement with five empirically grounded propositions, four of which were carried over intact from the earlier version (Philipsen, 1997). Speech codes theory was created for two purposes. One purpose was to distill some of what might be learned from a large body of fieldwork research on culturally distinctive ways of speaking. When the first version of speech codes theory was written, there had been established a large body of fieldwork about cultural ways of speaking that had been conducted and published under the auspices of the ethnography of speaking (Hymes, 1968). • 28. Similarities And Differences Between Baseball And Baseball Baseball and softball are two demanding sports that require dedication, hard work, and athletic ability. Softball was created to allow women to play a sport similar to baseball, without having to play with men, which decreases the number of injuries of female players. The equipment involved has similarities in design, but some differences were made to fit each sport for their specific needs. The rules for each sport are also very similar with some modifications that were constructed to make both sports unique. The way the two games are played is similar as well, but differences in strategy and how the sports are played also make them different. Many of the differences have been put into place to ensure injuries are reduced and allow for the games to be fairly played. The equipment utilized is not only to protect the players, but also make playing the positions easier. Softball and baseball players wear different styles of jerseys with numbers, baseball/softball pants, a belt, and cleats. The uniforms make identifying fellow teammates and the opponent easier. Both sports also use a glove to protect the athletes from injury to their hands, face, or any other part of their body. The glove also makes fielding and catching a ball much easier. The balls used in each sport have different characteristics. The softball is yellow in color, has a larger diameter, and has a core that does not allow the ball to travel as far as a baseball. A baseball, however, is white in color. The baseball also has a smaller diameter and has a core that allows the ball to go farther than a softball. The differences in equipment are strategically placed to help distinguish between baseball and softball. Similarities between the sports are important to keep them equal for both men and women. The rules are identical in many cases, but changes have been made to fit each sport specifically and to make the games fair. The amount of strikes and balls allowed for a person are the same for both baseball and softball. This rule enforces fairness between sexes for both sports. Another rule that helps keep equality is the infield fly rule. The infield fly rule is used to keep the defending team from purposefully dropping a fly ball to give them ... Rosenberg (1979) viewed the self as made up of 2 elements, identity which represents cognitive variables and self esteem which represents the affective variables. Self esteem is operationally defined as: Individual s feelings about his or her worth as a person, derived from the evaluation of various salient dimensions of the self, namely psychological, social and physical or any other (Rifai, 1999). Types of Self esteem Korman (1986) suggests three types of self esteem. They are: Chronic Self esteem This type is defined as a relatively persistent personality trait or dispositional state that occurs consistently across various situations. This self esteem is a result of past experiences and focuses on one s competencies. An individual s confidence in his/her competencies directs the individual into situations which require the use of those competencies. Task Specific Self esteem Task specific self esteem is one s self perception of his/her competence concerning a particular task or job. This type of self esteem is the result of feedback, which comes directly from the observation of he results of one s efforts. Socially Influenced Self esteem This type of self esteem is a function of the expectations of others. It results from communication or feedback from reference group members or society as a whole, concerning the value of identity and the individual s ability to meet the expectations of the reference groups and/or the society as a whole. • 30. Hydrocephalus Essay Hydrocephalus Definition A condition affiliated with excessive fluid in the brain. Causes, incidence, and risk factors The fluid in the brain (cerebrospinal fluid or CSF) is formed in the brain. CSF usually circulates through parts of the brain, its covering, and the spinal canal, and is then absorbed into the circulatory system. When the circulation or absorption of this fluid is blocked, or excessive fluid is produced, the volume of fluid in the brain becomes higher than normal. The accumulation of fluid puts pressure on the brain forcing it against the skull and damaging or destroying the tissues. Symptoms vary depending on the cause of the obstruction to CSF circulation, the age at which the problem develops, and the extent ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... • 33. Labor Unions and Relevance Labor Unions and Relevance In the United States, labor unions are seeing an increased amount of controversy surrounding their helpfulness to the U.S. economy. Recently, comparisons between the successes of a company such as Toyota versus Ford have brought the issue of unions to the forefront. Many cite the cost Ford has due to the fact that the employees are unionized and receive more benefits at a higher cost to the company. On the other hand, many people see great benefit for Americans who are protected under a union contract; however, it is possible to create a work environment that is successful, safe, fair, and beneficial to employees without being a union shop. In 1953, approximately half of the workers in the United States were ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The following meeting essentially turned into a gripe festival in which the employee complained about the management, fellow employees, the workload, and the lack of recognition for a job well done. Fortunately, this issue went no further. Unfortunately for this organization, most filed complaints are more closely related to people being upset about being rightly disciplined than the company truly committing acts contrary to the negotiated contract. The actual relevance that unions have in today s society is shrinking, not only in numbers or employee attitudes, but politically as well. In the Journal of Labor Research, Hurd and Pinnock (2004) dissect the reasons for the shrinking affect unions have in politics. They say that after George W. Bush became president, his administration worked to the disband National Partnership Council, which was set in place to promote positive relationships with federal unions. The result of the actions from the Bush administration is a labor movement that is less unified and therefore likely to be less effective on the political front (Hurd and Pinnock, 2004). • 34. A View From The Bridge Analysis In the play A View From The Bridge The protagonist Eddie, an Italian immigrant, seems to have complex relationship with who seems to be his wife s orphaned niece Catherine throughout the whole play. At the beginning of Act 1, Catherine and Eddie appeared to have an authoritative father and a compliant daughter like relationship. Come over here. This command clearly highlights how demanding and authoritative Eddie is with Catherine. The imperative verb Come illustrates how Eddie sees himself as the man of the house, therefore he should be in control over everything, and everything living under his roof should obey and respect him. The adverb here demonstrates that Eddie expects Catherine to do as she s told, clearly indicating his control and how authoritative he is over Catherine. What do you want me to do ? This question signifies how Catherine will change anything just to keep Eddie satisfied even if she disagrees with it. The second personal pronoun you reflects how important Eddies opinion is to Catherine. How she will yield to every demand coming out of his mouth as back in the 1950s the man was the on who controls the household and makes all the decisions, which is one of the reasons why Catherine is so complaint towards him in their relationship. Arthur Miller also represented the relationship as an overprotective, jealous relationship at the start. I m responsible for you. This proclamation clearly displays Eddie s protectiveness over Catherine. ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
