This document summarizes a seminar presentation on reusing textile sludge in concrete. The textile industry produces large amounts of sludge as a byproduct of wastewater treatment. Currently, most sludge is disposed of in landfills. The objectives of the project are to reuse the sludge in concrete to reduce environmental pollution and use resources more efficiently. Testing shows the sludge can be used to replace up to 32% of sand in concrete with little reduction in compressive strength. Using sludge in concrete provides advantages like reducing land and groundwater pollution compared to disposal. Further work could explore using sludge ash in concrete after burning the organic matter.
