The Friar s A Friar
Margaret Morrow

British Literature

The Friar
A friar is a simple man whose job was to beg from the poor and give to the Roman Catholic Church.
The friar takes as much as one would need to live a humble life and offers the rest for the better of the
church and poor. In the Roman Catholic Church a friar is considered a monk, and therefore expected
to be fair and reserved. However, Chaucer describes the friar, or Hubert, in a sarcastic tone exposing
his corrupt ways to only profiting himself from the poor.
The Friar is a happy and cheerful person, with a pleasant personal demeanor. Although his position in
the clergy limits him to receive his needs by begging within the area he resides, he lives a very lavish
and unrestrained life without cause or reason he does what he wants without regard to anyone else
(208 209). Of the four religious orders he has the smoothest manners and linguistic abilities. Because
of his cheerful disposition and personality he is very well liked in his area and enjoyed performing
weddings and spending time with the ladies; the community was fond of him and especially with the
more affluent and well to do landowners and woman (212 216). He considered himself very good in
the duty of confessional even better than those in the church that that is their sole purpose and duty.
He was fully licensed and took the sins of his community with gentle and kind regard; he freed them
from their sin with compassion and removed all fear

Structure And Operation Of An Enterprise Architecture
Section 1: Summary
Enterprise Architecture represents a conceptual blueprint that defines the structure and operation of an
organization. The intent of an enterprise architecture is to decide how an organization can most
effectively achieve its current and future goals. Enterprise architecture looks at the current state of the
organization, it helps develop and evaluate current designs and create a sketch for the future.
As business analysts, enterprise architecture represents an input to understand the organizational units
that exist, their interaction with other organizational units, customers and suppliers, their
responsibilities within the organization and the roles and relationships within each organizational unit
[01]. It helps conduct stakeholder analysis, as it helps understand stakeholder influence and attitudes.
In this research paper, we will analyze look at the context of enterprise architecture, the history of
enterprise architecture, and we will look at two popular enterprise architectures, the Zachman
framework and TOGAF.
Section 2: Context and History
Context:
Enterprise Architecture was created and aimed to solve two major problems prevalent in
organizations.
System Complexity Organizations were becoming larger and larger and IT costs were spiraling out of
control
Poor business alignment Organizations were finding it more and more difficult to keep IT systems
aligned with business needs
Organizations are faced with issues of exponentially increasing

The Evils Of The FED And The Federal Reserve
Ever since the Bretton Woods agreement in 1944, the U.S dollar became the world s currency. Bretton
Woods agreement was basically an agreement on which every country currency would be back up by
the dollar, due to the fact that after WWII United States was the only one with the biggest gold reserve
in the world. Although it was proposed as a good idea it had its flaws for one even though it help the
U.S and other countries there was simply not enough gold to continue backing up the dollar value.
Which lead to President Richard Nixon to abolish the gold standard economy. His abolish of a gold
standard economy lead to a new proposal on which the dollar would be back by. The new proposal
that was issue was to create the FED or the ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Which goes back on how the dollar is back up. Another deal that countries see is that they can also
exchange the Yuan which they have, to the federal banks of China into gold since their money is
control in a gold standard economy. Although the Yuan is seen as the new alternative there is one more
currency lurking and becoming to be seen as a new way to exchange money, and that s Bitcoin.
Bitcoin is an indented source where individuals create accounts to buy accents in order to have credit.
That credit is later use for other individuals to purchase goods anywhere in the world without paying
fees to any government bank in order to exchange their currency. But is still works about the same
way that the Federal Reserve works since it s money that it s not back up by any materialize product
as gold and silver and instead just faith that the investors will continue to support it. But the Federal
Reserve and Bitcoin still are different since Bitcoin is not support by any government nor has any
centralize bank running it. This causes mayor impact to the U.S, since companies and countries might
no longer have to go and exchange their currency in dollars and may do it straight forward from one
currency to another. In time, the dollar would lose value and the U.S economy may change drastically.
So, should United States tried to go back in a gold standard economy? Yes and no, although there are
new forms of currency going around the world. The

Big Dipper Research Paper
The Big Dipper itself isn t a constellation but classified as an asterism. An asterism is a prominent
pattern or group of stars. The big dipper is a part of constellation Ursa Major. Ursa major is the third
largest constellation of all eighty eight. Ursa Major, the big dipper, has greatest number of stars
compared to other constellations.
The big dipper asterism is also known as the plough. The big dipper asterism forms less than half of
the entire constellation Ursa Major. The big dipper a part of the Ursa Major constellation was
discovered in 1869 by astronomer Richard A. Proctor. He realized that all of the big dippers stars
except Eta, have proper motions heading toward the constellation Sagittarius.
The big dipper within Ursa Major represents The great bear. It is recognized as a distinct grouping in
many cultures. The big dipper is a part of greek mythology. Ursa Major is actually named after a greek
woman. The greek mythology relates to Ursa Major, Zeus,Callisto, and Arcus. ... Show more content

Megrez (Delta UMa),Alioth (Epsilon UMa), Mizar (Zeta UMa), and Alkaid (Eta UMa). Starting at
Alpha 7,928 degrees fahrenheit up to Eta 29,821 degrees fahrenheit. Eta is one of the hottest stars that
can be seen visible to the naked eye. Delta is the dimmest of the seven stars. It is the third brightest
star in Ursa Major with Epsilon being the first. Epsilon is also the 31st brightest star in the sky.
Gamma is a white sequence dwarf and Alpha is an orange giant. Alpha has the most distance with it

Alex Trochut Analysis
Rudyard Kipling once said Words are, of course, the most powerful drug used by mankind and boy I
m hooked. Throughout my entire life I have always been fascinated with typography even before I
knew what a font even truly was. For the past few years I have been following the works of
typographic designer Alex Trochut and his amazing work. His work can be seen on anything from
famous magazines such as TIME and Vanity Fair to globally recognized names such as Katy Perry and
Wiz Khalifa.
Barcelona based Trochut is renowned for his extremely intricate and detailed typographic design work
(inkbotdesign.com). For TIME magazine they commissioned him to create a cover that depicts the
best of 2013 he creates this with a flowing pattern using six equally spaced lines which he has curved
and gives the implied sense of form and space. The final design is so creative and in doing so is very
eye catching and memorable. It is this type of flowing and intricate designs, which have allowed
Trochut to make his mark on the design world. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
For each of his designs he must create the type from nothing. One of my favorite pieces of work he
has done is titled Lorem Ipsum in this series he created lettering based on tubular strokes and made the
connection to old fashion ballpoint pens like those many of us used in school long ago. Many large
companies and celebrity clients have come to love Trochut s body of work also. Client Capitol
Records commissioned him to create album artwork for the release of Katy Perry s single ROAR in
2013. He went more geometric with this design and created an instantly recognizable typeface, which

Evolution of Hip-Hop
Evolution of Hip Hop From where it started to where it is now, Cuban hip hop has transformed
greatly. Without the United States, hip hop in Cuba certainly would not be where it is today. The
United States is the hub of hip hop and helped to jumpstart hip hop in Cuba. While this is true, hip hop
in the United States completely differs from that of Cuba for the better. Even though hip hop in Cuba
did not start from much, the amount of development and influence this music has towards Cuba is
immeasurable. Around 1970, 44 years ago, hip hop emerged in the West Bronx of New York. The
culture of hip hop incorporates many aspects besides just the music itself, such as DJing, graffiti,
breakdancing, and urban fashion. Hip hop mainly started from DJ s separating the break in rock, funk
and other types of songs, as well as the MC playing a major role in the development of hip hop. In
between the songs that the DJ was playing, the MC would speak in between the songs, make jokes and
many other actions in order to get the crowd riled up. This eventually led up to the practice of hip hop
to become more conventional, resulting in the forming of hip hop. Kool DJ Herc did all of this in
1970, who is believed to be the one who started the emergence of hip hop. At first, DJ Herc would
deliver rhymes over reggae track; however, this did not engage people s attention enough. Because the
people were not engaged, DJ Herc had to find another way to satisfy the audience, which came from

Religion Has Been A Major Force In The History Of The United
Religion has been a major force in the history of the United States and in settling the colonies of
America in many ways. Religion was definitely one of the major reasons for the founding of the
colonies. The early colonists wanted the freedom to worship God as they had seen as proper, and they
were promised this freedom of worship. Most of these colonies were deeply rooted in their religious
beliefs. Religion was a powerful influence on the social and political life of the colonial times in the
New World. Typically, in the colonies, the church was a large building in the middle of a town and
was used for town meetings and community gatherings in addition to worship. During this time, a
church was the first building to go up, and the ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The Quakers and Puritans moved from their homes in Europe and England because of the unfairness
in their religious beliefs. They sought to reform the Anglican religious practice, which was to purify
the church and later became known as the Puritans (Wood). They demanded for the removal of all
Roman Catholic rituals and wanted to simplify religion to its basics (Shi, 42). The Puritans landed in
American where new colonies were created. The Puritans did not accept those that believed differently
than they did. They left England because they refused to worship in Anglican churches. The Puritans
refused the Quakers and any others citizenship who believed in a different form of worship. The
Quakers had also refused to support the Church of England and were under the leadership of William
Penn. The Quakers stamped their values on the government of Pennsylvania. Other Puritans that were
not as radical in their religious views later formed settlements along the Massachusetts Bay (Wood).
The Pilgrims main reason in coming to America was that they were searching for the freedom to
worship. The Pilgrims, defined as a person who journeys to a place for religious reasons, were also
known as Separatists. The Separatists were with the Pilgrims who traveled across the Atlantic and
settled the first permanent English settlement, Plymouth Colony in New England. The Separatists
required that each congregation rule itself and not be controlled by a bureaucracy

American Astronauts Mission To Space
Humans are delicate biological mechanisms capable of fantastic feats unlike those of any other beings
we coexist with on Earth. We alone have achieved leaving our lovely home planet and venturing into
space. I authored an accurate science fiction story about a crew of American astronauts who, in a
future year, are sent on a mission to a planet in a neighboring solar system. The crew deals with space
weather disrupting their flight, the physical challenges of moving through a variety of gravity fields,
rocket mechanics, and the challenges and differences of a new planetary environment and atmosphere.
The most emotionally difficult moment for the crew though in their long journey is when a crew
member passes away while in transit between destinations ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Galactic cosmic rays are protons with the ability to penetrate other molecules and heavy nuclei (3),
while solar particle events are protons or ions with low to medium energy (3). Galactic cosmic rays
have had all of their electrons stripped, originate outside of the Milky Way from events such as
supernovas (6), and travel at close to the speed of light (7). Galactic cosmic rays, specifically the
nuclei of heavier elements, have the capability to strike almost any object, human or metal spacecraft
included, and break apart the atoms (7). The broken atoms then release subatomic particles, which act
as radiation (7). Solar particle events are caused from solar storms, and are protons or ions with the
ability to penetrate space suits, and occasionally even the physical spacecrafts (12).
Just on the International Space Station, the National Aeronautics and Space Administration, or NASA,
reported astronauts received around ten times more radiation than the average human in the same
measured time span (1). Although this statistic proves the risk to their personal health that astronauts
have taken for the sake of science, a mission to another planet would require the astronauts leave the
safety of Earth s magnetic field (1), where the International Space Station resides. These astronauts
would have even less of a buffer to protect them

Iconic Male Dominated American Culture
Long before the development of iconic male dominated American culture, the ideals of a patriarchal
society have been implemented within the foundations of multiple civilizations, serving to dictate the
actions of its individuals under the black and white confines of social constructions like gender roles,
gender binary, sex roles, and many other aspects of everyday life that are still present at this very
moment. One of the most crucial elements of contemporary American society that these limiting
patriarchal values have latched onto is the comprehensive sexual education of it s youth. Undoubtedly,
those who need it most are almost always doomed to receive the short end of the stick with the
introduction of Abstinence Only education a method that has been consistently proven to embed
misogynistic and gender discriminatory ideals within its shame based and fear centered curriculum, in
addition to being profoundly ineffective in preventing the negative aspects that go along with unsafe
sexual activity; much less effective than it s counterpart, Comprehensive Sexual Education. This
unbiased, fact based, and health focused method of sex ed serves to inform students about a number of
topics in an age appropriate context, allowing them to make choices they are comfortable and familiar
with when it comes to a time they feel they are ready to make them, regardless of what sex, gender, or
orientation they happen to identify with. Even prior to the decade when the Abstinence only

Psychopathy and Antisocial Personality Disorder Essay
Introduction The purpose of this study is to compare and contrast the constructs of psychopathy and
antisocial personality disorder. The aim is to highlight whether the terms psychopathy and antisocial
personality disorder reflect the same construct or whether they differ. Furthermore, recommendations
for treatment of criminal behavior will be explored. For the purposes of this evaluation some
definitions need to be highlighted: Criminal offence is an act that breaks a law, which relates how to
behave in society. The harm caused by the act is seen to be against society as a whole, not just a
specific person. Sometimes it refers to the specific law that was broken (Herring, 2009). Crime is the
breach of rules or law for which some authority ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Furthermore, psychopathy was considered during the twentieth century, the most widely used term to
describe antisocial behavior (Reed, 1996). In the 1980s, the committee who devised the Diagnostic
and Statistical Manual for the American Psychiatric Association recommended the term antisocial
personality syndrome to be changed to antisocial personality disorder (Ellis Walsh, 2000). Antisocial
Personality Disorder Hare McPherson (1984), were successful in pushing the idea that there is a
significant correspondence between violent and persistent delinquent and criminal histories and
antisocial personality disorder diagnosis. Acute persistent child conduct disorder behavior symptoms,
also known as conduct disorder, have been directly linked to serious criminality and antisocial
personality disorder (Ellis Walsh, 2000). Although criminality and antisocial personality disorder
ought not be equated, they should be seen as closely linked behavioral phenomena (Ellis Walsh,
2000). Vitella (1996) believes that individuals with childhood conduct disorder have a higher than
normal probability of being both criminal and diagnosed antisocial personality disorder in adolescence
and adulthood, and persons with serious criminal records have a higher probability of being diagnosed
psychopathic than those with little or no criminal history. Nevertheless, Ellis Walsh (2000) in caution
pointed out that these

The Dead Poets Society s Central Theme
In your opinion, which character is transformed the most through his experiences in the film? Explain
and support your argument with specific proof. Todd Anderson transformed the most throughout the
film. He started out as a character that was afraid to be in front of the class and then was the first
person to stand up for Mr. Keating. Todd refused to read a poem in front of the class and by the end of
the movie he was the first person to stand on the desk and say my captain, oh captain towards Mr.
Keating. Theme: As the film progresses, it becomes readily apparent that each primary character faces
a challenge. These conflicts help suggest a theme, or central message, that the author and director are
trying to impart to the audience. What do you consider to be Dead Poets Society s central theme? The
Dead Poets Society s major theme is Carpe Diem or seize the day. This was the message that Mr.
Keating sent to all of his students through his lessons. He wanted them to stand out, find out who they
are, and seize every moment. The characters faced a conflict because they were struggling with what
seizing the day meant to them. Would Neil still have committed suicide if Mr. Keating had never come
into his life? Consider multiple perspectives here as you draft your group response. This question has
been keeping me up at night! I keep wondering what would have happened to Neil if Mr. Keating was
never in his life. Honestly, I have come to the conclusion that no Neil would

Textual Analysis Of Wings Of Desire, By Wim Wenders
Wings of Desire Wings of Desire is a German film by director Wim Wenders released in 1987. The
scene I want to focus on for the textual analysis is the scene in which the angel Cassiel attempts to
comfort a suicidal man, but his attempts at comfort fail when the man jumps off of a building, causing
Cassiel to descend into a spiral of grief and anger. The scene starts with a sound bridge between a shot
of birds in flight and a shot of a man sitting on the edge of a building. The sound of the birds mixes
with non diegetic music and the sound of the man s thoughts. The viewers can hear his thoughts,
which is symbolized by his non diegetic stream of consciousness monologue. The actor s mouth does
not move, but the viewers still hear his monologue, ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Then there are a few interlude shots of Peter Falk, before the montage, which is a maelstrom of
quickly paced short shots. The short, confusing shots serve to disorient the viewer and put them in the
same headspace as Cassiel, who is grieving, as well as to create symbolic meaning. In between the
handheld shots that progress through the city, there are shots of people that are vulnerable or hurt.
There is a shot of a woman lying on a staircase, a shot of a man on a bench, possibly an index pointing
at him being homeless, a fighting couple, a child crying for his mother, and footage that seems to be
from during the war, intercutting with shots of a bird s wings. Bird s wings are symbolically
associated with angels, and these shots intercut with shots of war and destruction, linking the two
together, the angel is the powerless witness of the war. The viewer understands the shots in the
montage to be from the angel s point of view; he is the one who sees all that pain and carries the
burden of comfort. Jump cuts are used as well throughout the montage, for example in the shot of the
women in the staircase, further increasing the sense of frantic confusion, and an example of poetic
rather than practical language, as the information is not delivered in a straightforward

Aninut Religion
As in Hindu customs, the location and direction of the body are specified in sacred and important
texts. It is preferable to bury the corpse away from high traffic places like the synagogue to avoid
health problems, as a corpse can defile an area as it is a powerful source of impurity (Kraemer, 2000,
p.77). Altough this is the case now, Kraemer notes in ancient times people who had contributed to the
synagogue such as high priests and rabbis were laid to rest in the synagogue, if a person makes his life
his home in the synagogue, he will have the merit of locating his eternal home there as well . This
change in preference of burial site is evident in the midrash as the earliest versions of the midrash

Jews mourn in three stages called aninut, shiv ah, and sheloshim. The aninut stage is from death to
burial, meat wine and sexual activity are to be abstained from. The Shiv ah period is the seven days
after the funeral, mirrors are to be covered to remind oneself to not concern themselves with normal
life and focus on what is important. The sheloshim period lasts for 30 days, or one year if the deceased
is a parent. Life returns back to normal with only celebrations where music is played being restricted
(Gywnne, 2009).
Hinduism s samsaric view of life and Judaism s contrasting belief in one life on Earth before
resurrection of the body with the coming of the Messiah, leads to many differences in their funeral and
mourning customs and practices. For example the dissimilarity in the way in which the corpse is to be
treated and the funeral ceremony itself due to opposing ideas of mortality. However despite the vast
difference between traditions, there are still parallels to be noted such as directions for the location and
direction of the ceremony and the restrictive nature of the mourning

vitamin D consumption, supplementation with probiotics, adequate intake of selenium and zinc,

new cases has fallen to about 50,000 in 2005 according to Morbidity and Mortality Weekly report of
March 16 (449). Allen points out that the women who did receive the vaccine had no major side

them (449). If a young girl, a parent doesn t want their daughter to get the vaccine or even has second

How To Read Genesis 1 Essay
Genesis 1:1 reads, In the beginning God created the heavens and the earth (Genesis 1:1). If I never had
access to any books and could only learn or know about the universe through what I observe with my

thing that I would be able to learn from reading Genesis 1:1 is about God. If I never heard or knew of
God prior to reading Genesis 1:1, others along with myself would probably wonder whom God is.
From the reading, I would know that God is the creator of the heavens and the earth. Others reading
this might also wonder what creating the heavens and the earth really means, and if he created
everything else on earth. Another big question

Product Costing System
Product costing systems in modern manufacturing organisations
Product costing refers to the process of assigning shared direct and indirect costs to individual
products, customers, branches or other cost items. (USAID, 2007) Product costing is also referred to
as assigning costs to inventory and production based on the expenses that go into producing or buying
inventory. It is an important process for manufacturers that helps improves management information
on products and helps managers and the board members to take key decisions about product design,
delivery mechanisms, and especially pricing. (Lacoma, 2013)
There are several benefits of having a product costing done. These include Accuracy, Project Tracking,

Computer integrated manufacturing (CIM): Is a manufacturing philosophy in which the functions for
the organization, from product definition to the disposition of the final product, are designed and
integrated to achieve clearly enunciated organizational goals, most efficiently and effectively. The
coordination of the functions is achieved using computer, communication, and information

production productivity by 40 to 70 percent, decreases design costs by 15 to 30 percent, reduces
overall lead time by 20 to 60 percent, and cut work in process inventory by 30 to 60 percent as well as
enhances engineering productivity and quality. These statistics tells us that how important CIM is
nowadays for most of the manufacturing industries. (Koch) The importance of CIM in financing can

The Moon Watching Blind Man Summary

The Moon viewing Blind Man, Easter and Western Thought
Are humans animalistic savages or have we evolved long enough to have shed our animalistic nature?
Has society created separation between individuals so great that we have resorted to our animalistic
nature of fending for ourselves or has it always been there? Questions that make us rethink our stance
on who we really are. In philosophy, the animalist doctrine states that humans are animals in their
essential identity and are persons only through their contingent properties. This idea affects man and
makes us question our own existence and progress in our daily lives. This duality of man, animal and
human aspect such as compassion and thought. can be further extended to Nietzsche idea of the
Apollonian and Dionysian sides of man and the influence this idea had on the development of modern
philosophy pertaining to existentialism. This dichotomy of the multiple sides of man would appear in
the philosophical movement of Edo Neo Confucianism, one of the main philosophy of the later
Azuchi Momoyama period through the Edo period, as well as showing a connection in both eastern
and western philosophy. This idea of the dualism of man is shown in the Kyogen The Moon viewing
Blind Man where the playwright displays this idea of man s internal struggle between the Apollonian
side in contrast to one s Dionysian side and how one can digress to a primitive state when the eyes of

Analysis Of The Emperor Of Ice Cream
6. While Dylan Thomas Do not go gentle into that goodnight and Wallace Stevens The Emperor of Ice
Cream both deal with overcoming or facing a death, the poems take contrasting views on how to see
death. Death is subjective and the effects of it change depending on who has passed and who is
experiencing the loss. Death can be portrayed in a positive and negative tone and in a reverent one as
well.
Thomas portrays death in the reverent tone. He is urging the dying to down in flames, to burn as bright
as possible before he or she can no longer burn at all. This is shown through the title, Do not go gentle
into that goodnight , and through the phrases burn and rave and the repeated rave, rave . Thomas is
urging the dying to leave something to be remembered by. He wants them to leave one last mark on
this world.
Stevens contrasts Tomas view on death. Stevens death is frivolous and has no impact on the world. A
common woman has died, and nobody seems to care and that s exactly how Stevens wants use to feel
about it. He seemingly portrays her as a monster to get the point of her not mattering to resonate. The
line horny feet protrude give the deceased undesirable qualities that causes the reader to see her as less

Significant Events that Shaped America between 1940 and 1980
From 1940 to 1980 there were many significant events that shaped America. Events in history are not
defined by how they actually happened but how they were interpreted. Be it by the people of that land
or other lands looking in. In what ways do people receive the important news? News comes through
media outlets such as radio, newspaper and television. Americans especially tend to take things at face
value. This information must be true, I read it in a newspaper. In 1941 Japan attacked Pearl Harbor

Tumut Community Labyrinth
Marketing Description of the Tumut Community Labyrinth for Peace The Tumut community labyrinth
is a place of reflection, education and meditation set along the banks of Tumut river. Local materials,
Accessibility, Armistice Day history and astronomy are all part of the key brief for the Tumut
Community Labyrinth for Peace. The Labyrinth follows the traditional shape octagonal as it is based
on the design in the cathedral in Reims, France, with a single entrance and winding path that leads to a
central place of contemplation. The main path is made of locally quarried Wee Jasper stone edged with
pavers made with gravel, referencing the geology of the local area, and the nearby river. Along the

Hadoop is a free, Java based programming framework that supports the processing of large data sets in
a Parallel and distributed computing environment. It makes Use of the commodity hardware Hadoop
is Highly Scalable and Fault Tolerant. Hadoop runs in cluster and eliminates the use of a Super
computer. Hadoop is the widely used big data processing engine with a simple master slave setup. Big
Data in most companies are processed by Hadoop by submitting the jobs to Master. The Master
distributes the job to its cluster and process map and reduce tasks sequencially. But nowdays the
growing data need and the and competition between Service Providers leads to the increased

The first strategy is to split the cluster resources equally among all the running jobs and this strategy
in Hadoop is called Hadoop Fair Scheduler. The second strategy is to serve one job at a time, thus
avoiding the resource splitting. An example of this strategy is First In First Out (FIFO), in which the
job that arrived first is served first. The problem with this strategy is that, being blind to job size, the
scheduling choices lead inevitably to poor performance. Both strategies have drawbacks that prevent
them from being used directly in production without

Augustine s Ontological Proof For The Existence Of God
Augustine was a Christian theologian and philosopher born during the late ancient period, born only a
handful of centuries after the advent of the common era. Through this era, the separation between
religion and philosophy became increasingly evident, though many theologians and philosophers did
not limit themselves to one field or the other. In fact, many used philosophical ideas to back up
theological concepts and thoughts. One good example of this would be in Augustine s Ideo
Ontological proof for the existence of god. However, as with most things of a philosophical nature,
there is no simple right or wrong, A or B reading of the Ideo Ontological proof. Despite any possible
contention that may occur over the interpretations of the Ideo Ontological proof, there is no doubt that
the proof contributed greatly towards the development of western philosophy, as started by Plato
centuries prior.
The primary concept behind the Ideo Ontological proof is that god is a thinker of some sort; for such
an influential concept, the definition is actually very cut and dry. The steps to come to such a
conclusion, however, are somewhat more complicated. The first step in this proof is to accept that
humans are, first and foremost, thinkers; something that later philosophers would pick up on as well.
The second is where the problems start; as predicated by the fact that we are thinkers, we are able to
think of eternal ideas. I have troubles with this, as I do not presently believe that

What Causes Pig Influenza
Every day brings a new challenge, a new lesson, and prayerfully, a new blessing. Good things come
but unfortunately, so do the bad. I remember just a few years ago hearing of people near and far being
infected with the swine flu, which is the transmitting of pig influenza into humans. It is also known as
swine influenza, pig influenza, or hog flu. This was devastating to hear. Being of a younger
generation, this was my first time hearing of something as drastic and severe as this. I began
wondering what caused this and why now? This disease destroyed the lives of many. Some begin
exiting their homes wearing masks, stocking on disinfectants, and covering up to prevent this
deadening disease. Hearing that this was not the first time that this ... Show more content on

Its significance began with the initial onslaught in 1347 to 1354. Frequent recurrences made it hard to
regain the balance of the middle ages, and the social pillars of the church, family life, and the
economy were changed forever. Monasteries and clergy suffered the greatest loss. The Europeans
began to blame God because they had no explanation for the outrage. Priests and bishops could not
give answers for what was happening so they abandoned their Christian duties and fled. This caused
the monasteries to be run by less educated people, who eventually resigned. As the church weakened,
so did the hope of the European people. Animosity between the Christians and Jews arose, art and
music became dark and depressed, and people became obsessed with cultural death. The rich and
poor, the young and old, man, woman, boy and girl were all impacted. No one was safe. No one could

Technology Advantages And Disadvantages
Now of days we are beginning to experience natural disasters, from the category five hurricane in
Texas to major earth quakes in New Mexico. The way that things are looking now I believe we will
experience these situations more and more throughout the years. Most people have electronic devices
but do not know the basics on how to protect their devices from power surges, power outages and
other electrical variations. In the following paragraphs I will give you tips and information on how to
protect your computers and devices from power outages. This information will be helpful for people
who are on budgets but still want something that will actually work and others who are not on budget
and want top quality ways to protect their devices from power outages and other electronic devices.
One of the ways that you could protect your computer and other devices is to purchase a surge
protector. A surge protector s is an electrical device designed to protect a computer against the harmful
effects of power surges and spikes and sudden outages, they can contain up to 120 volts or more and
they are also inexpensive. They run around to be about twenty to forty dollars depending on which
brand you buy. The most recommended brand that will last long but is really good for its price is
Belkin or tripplite. A surge protector works by transferring the excess voltage via the devices
grounding wire. It stops it from reaching the electronic device and damaging it. When there is a

The Sphere Of Women In The Anebellum Era
In the antebellum era of America, which is the time before America s civil war, there was a call for
justice and liberty. The American Revolution had ended a few years ago, the new Constitution was in
place, and arguments about slavery began. Abolitionists were demanding that slaves be freed while
most of the American population could not decide what to do or said no. This sparked another
argument and fight, women s rights. Religious reasons were being tossed back and forth between the
fight of elevating a woman s status or keeping her where she is. Women of this time wanted to elevate
their status, or change their sphere, from being domestic, pretty, obedient women to being equal as
man. Historians though have different thoughts about the sphere of women. By evaluating secondary
sources and primary sources during and about this time, I can conclude that women did want to
change their sphere and that depending who the woman was determined what sphere she may be in.
Catherine Clinton is a historian who wrote The Ties that Bind which is about the sphere women were
in in the antebellum era. She proposed that the nineteenth century ushered in a social as well as an
economic revolution for American women. Catherine focuses on the middle class women of this time
and how their spheres impacted them. She believes that due to these spheres women wanted to rise up
and elevate her status to being equal to men. Women of this time had no way of changing laws or
standards due to the

Part 1 As another security examiner at Aim Higher College I was given the undertaking to decide the
main three dangers that the College faces. Consistently innovation is actualized in numerous
associations. This innovation may settle past vulnerabilities or even make new one. Programmers may
misuse this known powerlessness to access basic information or cause hurt in the system. This new
technology may fix previous vulnerabilities or even create new one. Hackers may exploit this known
vulnerability to gain access to critical data or cause harm in the network. The CVE give a rundown of
known vulnerabilities for as often as possible utilized programming. In the rundown, we can see
which new vulnerabilities have been found each year, and they make new dangers for Aim Higher
College. The main danger that ought to mull over is the likelihood of a powerlessness being misused
by an aggressor. Contingent upon which frameworks they are utilizing they may need to upgrade them
or fix them to decrease the likelihood of being ruptured, and in addition shutting the required ports. If
an assailant can misuse a helplessness they may get to basic information of their workers,

Two phenomena hindsight bias and judgmental overconfidence illustrate why we can t rely solely on

The Issue Of Blue Bird Securities Group Plc Of Supplying...
Rebecca cannot fulfil the obligations of her contract she established with Blue Bird Securities Group
PLC of supplying ten birds, as after supplying five birds to them in November 2013, an international
convention from January 2014 including the UK has deemed it illegal to import endangered wild birds
into the UK for commercial purpose, making the delivery of the final five birds including the rare
Madagascan native White winged Ibis bird to Blue Bird PLC in May 2014, as contractually obliged
to, impossible. Blue Bird PLC have claimed for a breach in contract as non delivery of the birds in

After making this agreement, and before the first day of the first concert, the Hall was destroyed by a
fire; meaning the concerts couldn t be performed as intended. Both parties evidently had no thought
about the possibility of such a disaster, and had no form of reference to it in their agreement.
Blackburn J. in reviewing this case and the doctrine of frustration court said, There seems no doubt
that where there is a positive contract to do a thing, not in itself unlawful, the contractor must perform
it or pay damages for not doing it, although in consequence of unforeseen accidents, the performance
of his contract has become unexpectedly burthensome or even impossible. However, in the case of
Taylor v Caldwell, the contract was neither positive nor absolute but was subject to an implied
condition making this rule not applicable as the parties must have known the risk at the start of the
contract to make it absolute; therefore the verdict was that neither party was at fault and the doctrine
of frustration applied. Frustration occurs also when the person engaged under a contract of personal
service becomes unavailable. This example of frustration can be seen in the case of Condor v The
Barron Knights on December 8th 1962. An agreement was made by a 16 year old drummer to perform
in a band seven nights a week, sometimes twice a day. However, the drummer developed a mental
illness and was told by doctors that he couldn t

  • 2. The Friar s A Friar Margaret Morrow Abel British Literature 27 October 2015 The Friar A friar is a simple man whose job was to beg from the poor and give to the Roman Catholic Church. The friar takes as much as one would need to live a humble life and offers the rest for the better of the church and poor. In the Roman Catholic Church a friar is considered a monk, and therefore expected to be fair and reserved. However, Chaucer describes the friar, or Hubert, in a sarcastic tone exposing his corrupt ways to only profiting himself from the poor. The Friar is a happy and cheerful person, with a pleasant personal demeanor. Although his position in the clergy limits him to receive his needs by begging within the area he resides, he lives a very lavish and unrestrained life without cause or reason he does what he wants without regard to anyone else (208 209). Of the four religious orders he has the smoothest manners and linguistic abilities. Because of his cheerful disposition and personality he is very well liked in his area and enjoyed performing weddings and spending time with the ladies; the community was fond of him and especially with the more affluent and well to do landowners and woman (212 216). He considered himself very good in the duty of confessional even better than those in the church that that is their sole purpose and duty. He was fully licensed and took the sins of his community with gentle and kind regard; he freed them from their sin with compassion and removed all fear ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Bretton Woods agreement was basically an agreement on which every country currency would be back up by the dollar, due to the fact that after WWII United States was the only one with the biggest gold reserve in the world. Although it was proposed as a good idea it had its flaws for one even though it help the U.S and other countries there was simply not enough gold to continue backing up the dollar value. Which lead to President Richard Nixon to abolish the gold standard economy. His abolish of a gold standard economy lead to a new proposal on which the dollar would be back by. Another deal that countries see is that they can also exchange the Yuan which they have, to the federal banks of China into gold since their money is control in a gold standard economy. Although the Yuan is seen as the new alternative there is one more currency lurking and becoming to be seen as a new way to exchange money, and that s Bitcoin. Bitcoin is an indented source where individuals create accounts to buy accents in order to have credit. That credit is later use for other individuals to purchase goods anywhere in the world without paying fees to any government bank in order to exchange their currency. But is still works about the same way that the Federal Reserve works since it s money that it s not back up by any materialize product as gold and silver and instead just faith that the investors will continue to support it. But the Federal Reserve and Bitcoin still are different since Bitcoin is not support by any government nor has any centralize bank running it. This causes mayor impact to the U.S, since companies and countries might no longer have to go and exchange their currency in dollars and may do it straight forward from one currency to another. In time, the dollar would lose value and the U.S economy may change drastically. So, should United States tried to go back in a gold standard economy? • 6. Alex Trochut Analysis Rudyard Kipling once said Words are, of course, the most powerful drug used by mankind and boy I m hooked. Throughout my entire life I have always been fascinated with typography even before I knew what a font even truly was. For the past few years I have been following the works of typographic designer Alex Trochut and his amazing work. His work can be seen on anything from famous magazines such as TIME and Vanity Fair to globally recognized names such as Katy Perry and Wiz Khalifa. Barcelona based Trochut is renowned for his extremely intricate and detailed typographic design work (inkbotdesign.com). For TIME magazine they commissioned him to create a cover that depicts the best of 2013 he creates this with a flowing pattern using six equally spaced lines which he has curved and gives the implied sense of form and space. The final design is so creative and in doing so is very eye catching and memorable. Many large companies and celebrity clients have come to love Trochut s body of work also. • 7. Evolution of Hip-Hop Evolution of Hip Hop From where it started to where it is now, Cuban hip hop has transformed greatly. Without the United States, hip hop in Cuba certainly would not be where it is today. The United States is the hub of hip hop and helped to jumpstart hip hop in Cuba. While this is true, hip hop in the United States completely differs from that of Cuba for the better. Even though hip hop in Cuba did not start from much, the amount of development and influence this music has towards Cuba is immeasurable. Around 1970, 44 years ago, hip hop emerged in the West Bronx of New York. The culture of hip hop incorporates many aspects besides just the music itself, such as DJing, graffiti, breakdancing, and urban fashion. Hip hop mainly started from DJ s separating the break in rock, funk and other types of songs, as well as the MC playing a major role in the development of hip hop. In between the songs that the DJ was playing, the MC would speak in between the songs, make jokes and many other actions in order to get the crowd riled up. This eventually led up to the practice of hip hop to become more conventional, resulting in the forming of hip hop. Kool DJ Herc did all of this in 1970, who is believed to be the one who started the emergence of hip hop. At first, DJ Herc would deliver rhymes over reggae track; however, this did not engage people s attention enough. Because the people were not engaged, DJ Herc had to find another way to satisfy the audience, which came from him ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Religion was definitely one of the major reasons for the founding of the colonies. The early colonists wanted the freedom to worship God as they had seen as proper, and they were promised this freedom of worship. Most of these colonies were deeply rooted in their religious beliefs. Religion was a powerful influence on the social and political life of the colonial times in the New World. Typically, in the colonies, the church was a large building in the middle of a town and was used for town meetings and community gatherings in addition to worship. The Quakers and Puritans moved from their homes in Europe and England because of the unfairness in their religious beliefs. They sought to reform the Anglican religious practice, which was to purify the church and later became known as the Puritans (Wood). They demanded for the removal of all Roman Catholic rituals and wanted to simplify religion to its basics (Shi, 42). The Puritans landed in American where new colonies were created. The Puritans did not accept those that believed differently than they did. They left England because they refused to worship in Anglican churches. The Puritans refused the Quakers and any others citizenship who believed in a different form of worship. The Quakers had also refused to support the Church of England and were under the leadership of William Penn. The Quakers stamped their values on the government of Pennsylvania. Other Puritans that were not as radical in their religious views later formed settlements along the Massachusetts Bay (Wood). The Pilgrims main reason in coming to America was that they were searching for the freedom to worship. The Pilgrims, defined as a person who journeys to a place for religious reasons, were also known as Separatists. We alone have achieved leaving our lovely home planet and venturing into space. I authored an accurate science fiction story about a crew of American astronauts who, in a future year, are sent on a mission to a planet in a neighboring solar system. The crew deals with space weather disrupting their flight, the physical challenges of moving through a variety of gravity fields, rocket mechanics, and the challenges and differences of a new planetary environment and atmosphere. Galactic cosmic rays are protons with the ability to penetrate other molecules and heavy nuclei (3), while solar particle events are protons or ions with low to medium energy (3). Galactic cosmic rays have had all of their electrons stripped, originate outside of the Milky Way from events such as supernovas (6), and travel at close to the speed of light (7). Galactic cosmic rays, specifically the nuclei of heavier elements, have the capability to strike almost any object, human or metal spacecraft included, and break apart the atoms (7). The broken atoms then release subatomic particles, which act as radiation (7). Solar particle events are caused from solar storms, and are protons or ions with the ability to penetrate space suits, and occasionally even the physical spacecrafts (12). Just on the International Space Station, the National Aeronautics and Space Administration, or NASA, reported astronauts received around ten times more radiation than the average human in the same measured time span (1). Although this statistic proves the risk to their personal health that astronauts have taken for the sake of science, a mission to another planet would require the astronauts leave the safety of Earth s magnetic field (1), where the International Space Station resides. • 10. Iconic Male Dominated American Culture Long before the development of iconic male dominated American culture, the ideals of a patriarchal society have been implemented within the foundations of multiple civilizations, serving to dictate the actions of its individuals under the black and white confines of social constructions like gender roles, gender binary, sex roles, and many other aspects of everyday life that are still present at this very moment. One of the most crucial elements of contemporary American society that these limiting patriarchal values have latched onto is the comprehensive sexual education of it s youth. Undoubtedly, those who need it most are almost always doomed to receive the short end of the stick with the introduction of Abstinence Only education a method that has been consistently proven to embed misogynistic and gender discriminatory ideals within its shame based and fear centered curriculum, in addition to being profoundly ineffective in preventing the negative aspects that go along with unsafe sexual activity; much less effective than it s counterpart, Comprehensive Sexual Education. This unbiased, fact based, and health focused method of sex ed serves to inform students about a number of topics in an age appropriate context, allowing them to make choices they are comfortable and familiar with when it comes to a time they feel they are ready to make them, regardless of what sex, gender, or orientation they happen to identify with. • 11. Psychopathy and Antisocial Personality Disorder Essay Introduction The purpose of this study is to compare and contrast the constructs of psychopathy and antisocial personality disorder. The aim is to highlight whether the terms psychopathy and antisocial personality disorder reflect the same construct or whether they differ. Furthermore, recommendations for treatment of criminal behavior will be explored. For the purposes of this evaluation some definitions need to be highlighted: Criminal offence is an act that breaks a law, which relates how to behave in society. The harm caused by the act is seen to be against society as a whole, not just a specific person. Sometimes it refers to the specific law that was broken (Herring, 2009). Crime is the breach of rules or law for which some authority ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Furthermore, psychopathy was considered during the twentieth century, the most widely used term to describe antisocial behavior (Reed, 1996). In the 1980s, the committee who devised the Diagnostic and Statistical Manual for the American Psychiatric Association recommended the term antisocial personality syndrome to be changed to antisocial personality disorder (Ellis Walsh, 2000). Antisocial Personality Disorder Hare McPherson (1984), were successful in pushing the idea that there is a significant correspondence between violent and persistent delinquent and criminal histories and antisocial personality disorder diagnosis. Acute persistent child conduct disorder behavior symptoms, also known as conduct disorder, have been directly linked to serious criminality and antisocial personality disorder (Ellis Walsh, 2000). Although criminality and antisocial personality disorder ought not be equated, they should be seen as closely linked behavioral phenomena (Ellis Walsh, 2000). Vitella (1996) believes that individuals with childhood conduct disorder have a higher than normal probability of being both criminal and diagnosed antisocial personality disorder in adolescence and adulthood, and persons with serious criminal records have a higher probability of being diagnosed psychopathic than those with little or no criminal history. • 12. The Dead Poets Society s Central Theme In your opinion, which character is transformed the most through his experiences in the film? Explain and support your argument with specific proof. Todd Anderson transformed the most throughout the film. He started out as a character that was afraid to be in front of the class and then was the first person to stand up for Mr. Keating. Todd refused to read a poem in front of the class and by the end of the movie he was the first person to stand on the desk and say my captain, oh captain towards Mr. Keating. Theme: As the film progresses, it becomes readily apparent that each primary character faces a challenge. These conflicts help suggest a theme, or central message, that the author and director are trying to impart to the audience. What do you consider to be Dead Poets Society s central theme? The Dead Poets Society s major theme is Carpe Diem or seize the day. This was the message that Mr. Keating sent to all of his students through his lessons. He wanted them to stand out, find out who they are, and seize every moment. The characters faced a conflict because they were struggling with what seizing the day meant to them. Would Neil still have committed suicide if Mr. Keating had never come into his life? Consider multiple perspectives here as you draft your group response. • 13. Textual Analysis Of Wings Of Desire, By Wim Wenders Wings of Desire Wings of Desire is a German film by director Wim Wenders released in 1987. The scene I want to focus on for the textual analysis is the scene in which the angel Cassiel attempts to comfort a suicidal man, but his attempts at comfort fail when the man jumps off of a building, causing Cassiel to descend into a spiral of grief and anger. The scene starts with a sound bridge between a shot of birds in flight and a shot of a man sitting on the edge of a building. The sound of the birds mixes with non diegetic music and the sound of the man s thoughts. The viewers can hear his thoughts, which is symbolized by his non diegetic stream of consciousness monologue. Then there are a few interlude shots of Peter Falk, before the montage, which is a maelstrom of quickly paced short shots. The short, confusing shots serve to disorient the viewer and put them in the same headspace as Cassiel, who is grieving, as well as to create symbolic meaning. In between the handheld shots that progress through the city, there are shots of people that are vulnerable or hurt. There is a shot of a woman lying on a staircase, a shot of a man on a bench, possibly an index pointing at him being homeless, a fighting couple, a child crying for his mother, and footage that seems to be from during the war, intercutting with shots of a bird s wings. Bird s wings are symbolically associated with angels, and these shots intercut with shots of war and destruction, linking the two together, the angel is the powerless witness of the war. The viewer understands the shots in the montage to be from the angel s point of view; he is the one who sees all that pain and carries the burden of comfort. Jump cuts are used as well throughout the montage, for example in the shot of the women in the staircase, further increasing the sense of frantic confusion, and an example of poetic rather than practical language, as the information is not delivered in a straightforward ... It is preferable to bury the corpse away from high traffic places like the synagogue to avoid health problems, as a corpse can defile an area as it is a powerful source of impurity (Kraemer, 2000, p.77). Altough this is the case now, Kraemer notes in ancient times people who had contributed to the synagogue such as high priests and rabbis were laid to rest in the synagogue, if a person makes his life his home in the synagogue, he will have the merit of locating his eternal home there as well . The sheloshim period lasts for 30 days, or one year if the deceased is a parent. Life returns back to normal with only celebrations where music is played being restricted (Gywnne, 2009). Hinduism s samsaric view of life and Judaism s contrasting belief in one life on Earth before resurrection of the body with the coming of the Messiah, leads to many differences in their funeral and mourning customs and practices. For example the dissimilarity in the way in which the corpse is to be treated and the funeral ceremony itself due to opposing ideas of mortality. If I never had access to any books and could only learn or know about the universe through what I observe with my own eyes, there would be a few things that I would be able to learn from reading Genesis 1:1. The first thing that I would be able to learn from reading Genesis 1:1 is about God. If I never heard or knew of God prior to reading Genesis 1:1, others along with myself would probably wonder whom God is. The Moon Watching Blind Man Summary Joseph Yamaguchi Ancient Comedies 11/18/17 The Moon viewing Blind Man, Easter and Western Thought Are humans animalistic savages or have we evolved long enough to have shed our animalistic nature? Has society created separation between individuals so great that we have resorted to our animalistic nature of fending for ourselves or has it always been there? Questions that make us rethink our stance on who we really are. In philosophy, the animalist doctrine states that humans are animals in their essential identity and are persons only through their contingent properties. This idea affects man and makes us question our own existence and progress in our daily lives. This duality of man, animal and human aspect such as compassion and thought. can be further extended to Nietzsche idea of the Apollonian and Dionysian sides of man and the influence this idea had on the development of modern philosophy pertaining to existentialism. This dichotomy of the multiple sides of man would appear in the philosophical movement of Edo Neo Confucianism, one of the main philosophy of the later Azuchi Momoyama period through the Edo period, as well as showing a connection in both eastern and western philosophy. While Dylan Thomas Do not go gentle into that goodnight and Wallace Stevens The Emperor of Ice Cream both deal with overcoming or facing a death, the poems take contrasting views on how to see death. Death is subjective and the effects of it change depending on who has passed and who is experiencing the loss. Death can be portrayed in a positive and negative tone and in a reverent one as well. Thomas portrays death in the reverent tone. He is urging the dying to down in flames, to burn as bright as possible before he or she can no longer burn at all. This is shown through the title, Do not go gentle into that goodnight , and through the phrases burn and rave and the repeated rave, rave . Thomas is urging the dying to leave something to be remembered by. He wants them to leave one last mark on this world. Stevens contrasts Tomas view on death. Stevens death is frivolous and has no impact on the world. A common woman has died, and nobody seems to care and that s exactly how Stevens wants use to feel about it. • 25. Augustine s Ontological Proof For The Existence Of God Augustine was a Christian theologian and philosopher born during the late ancient period, born only a handful of centuries after the advent of the common era. Through this era, the separation between religion and philosophy became increasingly evident, though many theologians and philosophers did not limit themselves to one field or the other. In fact, many used philosophical ideas to back up theological concepts and thoughts. One good example of this would be in Augustine s Ideo Ontological proof for the existence of god. However, as with most things of a philosophical nature, there is no simple right or wrong, A or B reading of the Ideo Ontological proof. Despite any possible contention that may occur over the interpretations of the Ideo Ontological proof, there is no doubt that the proof contributed greatly towards the development of western philosophy, as started by Plato centuries prior. The primary concept behind the Ideo Ontological proof is that god is a thinker of some sort; for such an influential concept, the definition is actually very cut and dry. The steps to come to such a conclusion, however, are somewhat more complicated. The first step in this proof is to accept that humans are, first and foremost, thinkers; something that later philosophers would pick up on as well. The second is where the problems start; as predicated by the fact that we are thinkers, we are able to think of eternal ideas. I have troubles with this, as I do not presently believe that ... The American Revolution had ended a few years ago, the new Constitution was in place, and arguments about slavery began. Abolitionists were demanding that slaves be freed while most of the American population could not decide what to do or said no. This sparked another argument and fight, women s rights. Religious reasons were being tossed back and forth between the fight of elevating a woman s status or keeping her where she is. Women of this time wanted to elevate their status, or change their sphere, from being domestic, pretty, obedient women to being equal as man. Blackburn J. in reviewing this case and the doctrine of frustration court said, There seems no doubt that where there is a positive contract to do a thing, not in itself unlawful, the contractor must perform it or pay damages for not doing it, although in consequence of unforeseen accidents, the performance of his contract has become unexpectedly burthensome or even impossible. However, in the case of Taylor v Caldwell, the contract was neither positive nor absolute but was subject to an implied condition making this rule not applicable as the parties must have known the risk at the start of the contract to make it absolute; therefore the verdict was that neither party was at fault and the doctrine of frustration applied.
