Identifying And Identify Two Unknown Bacteria From A Mixed...
For many years the identification of microorganisms has been important in the world of medicine. It is
essential or correct disease diagnosis in patients and for proper treatment. Knowing the correct identity
and characteristics of microorganism is crucial when disease outbreaks occur in populations, also
knowing how humans can benefit from microorganisms is important; many can be used in making
certain foods or antibiotics. The purpose of this study project was to carefully isolate and identify two
unknown bacteria from a mixed culture. The ability to properly evaluate biochemical test results is
also necessary for the identification to be successful. The goal was to apply all of the methods and
techniques that have been learned in the microbiology laboratory course for the proper identification
of unknown bacteria. A certain amount of bacteria that were used throughout the course were possible
bacteria that could be found in a mixed culture. The bacteria that were identified in the mixed culture
were Staphylococcus Aureus and Kocuria Rhizophila. Staphylococcus aureus is the leading cause of
skin and soft tissue infections, it can cause serious infections such as bloodstream infection,
pneumonia or bone infections. Though it can cause infections it is part of the normal human flora it is
mostly found on the skin or in nasal cavities. It is a facultative anaerobic gram positive cocci, it is
usually in pairs or clusters. The bacterium is also catalase positive, oxidase

Studio Naughty Dog (Uncharted)
Staying low, a young girl creeps through a burning dining hall, flames block her only exit. She hears a
gentle, soft spoken voice call out into the room, Ellie... Her name from his lips sends terror through
her body. The voice, at one point, Ellie thought she could trust in a moment of desperation, but now, as
he stalks her, hunting her for his next meal, she is only desperate to get away from him. Fighting the
rising panic, Ellie must become the hunter, but she isn t the one who must hide, stalk, and strike. That
all depends on you, the person playing the game. It was one of the most terrifying experiences of my
life, despite my life being in no risk at all. I had grown so attached to the character Ellie and the world
she was in that I felt that her life was at stake, ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The first game of theirs that I was exposed to was Uncharted: The Lost Legacy, the 5th game in the
Uncharted series. The realistic approach instantly hooked me. Not only were the character models
realistic, but they acted like real people too. Like movies, there is a director, but games can have two
specific directors: a technical director, whose focus is gameplay, and the creative director, who focuses
on the story. Unlike movies, multiple directors need to work together to blend the story and gameplay
to keep players engaged. One of Naughty Dog s most popular games, and possibly my favorite game,
The Last of Us is a perfect blend of story and gameplay. The Last of Us fits into the survival horror
genre in a zombie apocalypse scenario, limiting the player s resources to fight and defend themselves
which works effectively within the story. It develops every character thoroughly, even minor ones, as
well as their relationships with one another. Gameplay and story work together to explain why the
world they live in is so brutal, and why characters work so hard to

The Mexican American War Essay
The United States of America has been through many wars, wars concerning many things such as land
oil, pride and respect. However, when the United States went to war with Mexico, it was planned over
greed. The Mexican American war was a war provoked by the United States, in efforts to expand the
coasts of the country. Mexico was a small under privileged country who had previously to the war had
already lost part of their country (Texas). Needless to say this war was cut throat and violent, it was
however one of the smartest business decisions America has ever made.
The prelude to the war began in the 1830s when Mexico decided to open up their home to America.

Manifest Destiny is a term for the American expansion that the united States not only could, but was
destined to, stretch from coast to coast. Protestants left England and came to America in the 17th
century, and to their understanding arriving to America safely was a sign that god had chosen them to
spread their knowledge, to be a city upon a hill . Which is a phrase from the bible means to be looked
upon and to set an example for the world to see. You are the light of the world. A city that is set on a
hill cannot be hidden Matthew 5:14. This religious example inspired protestants that it was not just
their job but there religious responsibility to expand and show others the right way. The phrase
contributed to manifest destiny was first employed by John L. O Sullivan in an article on the
annexation of Texas published in the July August 1845 it is our manifest destiny to overspread the
continent allotted by providence for the free development of our yearly multiplying millions .
According to John L. O Sullivan going to war with Mexico was god s plan, while others believe that
manifest destiny was an excuse to take land from Mexico. The only reason to attack Mexico was
expansion. According to Whitman (1846) yes: Mexico must be thoroughly chastised! ... Let our arms
now be carried with a spirit which shall teach the world that, while we are not forward for a quarrel,

Gram Negative Streptobacillus Lab Report
Pseduo Aeruginosa
This bacteria is a gram negative, staphylobacillus (rod shaped) organism and arranged in a
clustered/colonial formation It is in my picture you can see that the bacteria all over is stained pink
meaning that the bacteria is gram negative because of the counterstain. It also has the shape of a rod
meaning that it is in fact bacillus. It was easy for me to find this bacteria and put it under oil
immersion to get a clearer picture. While checking google it is clear to me that my results come out
the way it should have. Meaning I successfully stained this slide without having any setbacks.

It is a little harder to tell the shape on this one because I didn t get a clearer picture under oil
immersion. But it is easy to see that this is stained pink, therefore it is gram negative. When looking
closer I think I can see some rod shaped ones mixed into the cocci shaped ones. I can see that the
cocci are arranged in a linked formation. While searching on the internet I can see that it is usually
gram negative streptobacilli. It could be the fact that I didn t get a clear enough picture or my culture I
sampled was too thick.
Unknowns
While looking at my two unknowns under the microspore and comparing them it was clear to me that
these two are not pure cultures. To my understanding a pure culture is comes from one single parent
cell. As you can see from my results one of my unknown s is Gram positive and one is Gram negative,
leading me to draw the conclusion that the unknowns are not pure cultures. I am surprised that these
were not pure cultures because these were taken from the same source using Aseptic

The Restoration Of Wetland And Wetlands
According to Elizabeth Willott, wetland and mosquitoes have generally gone hand in hand. One
reason that many wetlands have been drained is to get rid of mosquitoes. In the process, valuable
ecosystems were destroyed. Now many people want to restore wetlands. It may be possible to restore
some wetlands while controlling mosquitoes, but it would require planning and frequented
intervention on the part of humans. Should people have to be concerned with what is going too
happened to the mosquitoes and wetland, or they have to be thinking about how to protect the
ecosystems? On a higher understanding should we give priority to people s lives or priority to the
ecosystem and wetland? I will try to show that the restoration of wetland, it ... Show more content on

It is clear that for developing countries wetland are very important ecologically, because the serves as
habitat for a variety of animals. The truth is that the elimination of the insect shows the arguments for
and against. Negative factors are obvious. Infected people die each year of malaria, dengue, yellow
fever, encephalitis, West Nile virus and other diseases of which is carried by the mosquito. Not
counting the permanent fumbling for people. In many places they make strangling swarms covering
areas such as caribou in Alaska. But on the other hand, they live all over the planet, fulfilling the
function of feeding species of different ecosystems. Some scientists argue that kill them would turn to
other predators without plants without pollinators. In relation to the Arctic, where they form a compact
biomass floating on the tundra, eradication could cause the number of migratory birds whose power
supply are reduced mosquitoes. There are also many fish, spiders, frogs, salamanders, lizards, who

Musculoskeletal Disorders In Dentist
This article in the Journal of American Dental Association is a four month randomized controlled trial
conducted by the authors to understand the relationship and impact of the curette handle diameter and
weight during scaling, root planing, or dental prophylaxis procedures among dental hygienists and
dentist by measuring wrist, hand, elbow, forearm and shoulder pain. The article is useful because it
addresses our PICO question of why the concept of ergonomics in instrument design (e.g. lightweight
instruments) is an important factor in reducing the risk of developing musculoskeletal disorders. 16.

Compare And Contrast In Cold Blood Movie And Book
In Cold Blood tells the nonfictional story of the Clutter family murder in Holcomb, Kansas in 1959.
The novel also follows the lives of the murderers Dick Hickock and Perry Smith afterwards. Truman
Capote, the author, closely follows the investigation after the murder, interviewing everyone from the
main detective on the case to the townsfolk. Many of skeptical of In Cold Blood s authenticity; many
believed some parts of the book were fabricated. There were details many believed Capote would have
never known. In comparison to the film Capote, there are many inconsistencies within Capote s story
and the novel he wrote. In the novel, Capote writes the story as if he was never there. He reports
strictly on lives of Dick and Perry after the ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The movie, which was thoroughly researched so it could be as accurate as possible, is inaccurate with
the book. For example, in the novel, Capote states that Perry Smith revealed the details of the murder
to Alvin Dewey and Duntz in a car on a highway in Arizona (pg. 232). In the film, however, Perry tells
Capote the details of the murder directly in Perry s cell. This inconsistency was most notable,
especially since Capote never once mentioned actually meeting Perry. However, in the movie, Capote
befriends Smith and visits him regularly. Another notable difference is the coverage of the murderers.
In the book, you learn a lot about the lives of the killers before the murder, starting in their childhood,
especially for Perry (pg. 131). However, in the movie, Capote asks very few questions about their
lives prior to the murders. Another obvious detail is the presence of Harper Lee; there was no mention
of her in the novel but according to the movie, she was prevalent from the very second that Capote
went to Holcomb. Though many of these details could be counter argued for being omitted due to
relevance, it s interesting to observe the differences in two stories about the same plot. More questions
come to rise because in the movie, Capote pays for

Superstition In The Adventures Of Huckleberry Finn
Throughout the novel The Adventures of Huckleberry Finn, written by Mark Twain, the characters
face many tough situations. During these situations, the characters have to turn to their inner selves in
order to make decisions. Many of these decisions were influenced by superstition, which uses the
basis of delusional belief. This story takes place in Mississippi during a time period before the Civil
War. Subsequently, an emphasis is made by Twain on how prevalent superstition was during the time
period and in the location the story is based in. Superstition played a key role in The Adventures of
Huckleberry Finn, mainly in the characters Jim and Huck. There are many occasions in which both
Jim and Huck bring up superstitions. In some parts

PHARMACOLOGICAL TREATMENT OF HEART FAILURE AND ARRHYTHMIAS After the
occurrence of a heart attack, patients are typically put on pharmacological agents to help improve the
heart s now compromised condition and prevent the occurrence of another infarction. The two main
categories of drugs used for this purpose are ACE inhibitors and ß blockers. As previously stated, ACE
is an enzyme that converts angiotensin I into angiotensin II. This can be problematic in the failing
heart because of the effects of angiotensin II, specifically vasoconstriction and enhanced sympathetic
activity (Jackson, et al., 2000). By inhibiting this enzyme, the constricted blood vessels are relaxed
and blood pressure is lowered. This allows the heart to return to pumping ... Show more content on

The class I anti arrhythmogenic drugs, which include subclasses Ia (disopyramide), Ib
(lignocaine/lidocaine), and Ic (flecainide/encainide) were tested in ischemic pig models to determine
efficacy (Aupetit, Loufoua Moundanga, Facuon, and Timour, 1997). This was quantified by measuring
changes in the electrical fibrillation threshold (EFT) after the addition of the individual drugs during
increasing periods of ischemia. The results showed an increase in incidence of spontaneous ventricular
fibrillation after each drug treatment when in the ischemic environment. Another result was a decrease
in the duration of monophasic action potentials (MAP) after the drug treatment. Because this time
became shorter, the critical level for triggering fibrillation was reached sooner (Aupetit, et al., 1997).
Lastly, the impaired intraventricular conduction, a direct result of the ischemia, was worsened by the
depressant effects of the anti arrhythmic drugs. Though these drugs do have anti arrhythmic
properties, adding them to the environment of heart failure results in decreased efficacy (Aupetit, et
al.,

Wilfred Owen asks where are the ...passing bells for these who die as cattle? The author of Anthem for
Doomed Youth leads his reader through his personal struggle and frustration of war. Owen has an
abrasive approach when describing the death all around him and clearly expresses his anger with the
hasty orisons for the dead. He speaks directly of battlefront in the first octet and then includes the
home front in the second half of his sonnet. Owen s purpose is not a commemoration of fallen
soldiers. Rather, he divulges the disgust and disappointment of war. Like McCrae, Wilfred Owen
paints a picture of the multitude of deaths. Back at the home front, ...each slow dusk a drawing down
of blinds. We can construe that the author is not simply talking about preparing for bed in the evening,
but rather lowering the blinds in a room where yet another dead soldier lies, as an indication to the
community and out of respect for the soldier. There is a lack of passing bells for these who die as
cattle....no prayers nor bells; Nor any voice of mourning save the choirs. Owen writes as though he
feels that there is indifference among the death of his fellow soldiers.
The poem, In Flanders Fields, is impregnated with imagery. This poem was literally born of fire and
blood during the hottest phase of the second battle of Ypres. John McCrae had just lost his very close

Cosmological Argument Research Paper
To what extent does The Cosmological Argument prove the existence of God?
There are many different arguments which attempt to help us understand more about the universe. One
of these arguments is the Cosmological Argument which is essentially an argument which consists of
8 main arguments; things exist because of a cause, these things do not have to exist but they do, the
chain of causes goes back to the beginning of time, time began when the universe was created, there
must have been a first cause which is responsible for everything else including the universe, the first
cause must have a necessary existence, only God has necessary existence, therefore God is the first
cause of the universe s existence. The argument basically puts across ... Show more content on

Scottish philosopher David Hume stated that we have no experience of universes being made. This
shows that one of the biggest flaws with the Cosmological Argument is that we are not Gods and have
never created anything as large or as complex as an entire universe. Hume also maintained that just
because we know that everything has a cause does not mean that we can assume that the universe in
its entirety is a result of something else. This continues his idea of humans being incapable of
understanding issues of such a large scale and that we are wasting our time trying to do so therefore
we should just assume that the universe simply exists because it exists. This theory is very well
thought out, as there is no tangible evidence that there is a single entity which created the universe. A
wise man proportions his belief to the evidence David Hume. The quote shows that Hume would be
not at all convinced with the Cosmological Argument unless solid evidence of a creator were to be
placed before him. This believe it when I see it attitude towards the the Cosmological Argument pokes

The Call Of Cthulhu, By Nathaniel Hawthorne
In Nathaniel Hawthorne s short story, The Birth mark, and H.P. Lovecraft s horror story, The Call of
Cthulhu, there are both similarities in themes and style, however, their characterization and narration
is entirely different. This lends itself to creating two different short stories, both can be classified as
horror or suspenseful. Hawthorne s story, published earlier, shares a similar theme of humanity and
union with The Call of Cthulhu. The documentary style of H.P. Lovecraft s short story contrasts with
the less personal feel of The Birth mark. Finally, the characterization of both the birth mark and
Cthulhu create the stories and give them purpose and meaning, while acting as heavy symbols for the
purpose of extending and building a fuller, more intense plot. Both The Birth Mark and The Call of
Cthulhu discuss how humanity is fickle and humans are not the ultimate authority in the world. In
Hawthorne s story, we are able to see how the attempt to control humanity is worthless as we are all
doomed and mortal creatures. As Aylmer attempts to remove said humanity, he ultimately loses life as
they are intertwined. Similarly, Lovecraft explores a world where humans are not the only thing in the
world, nor the most powerful. Humans are shown as weak, especially in comparison to the creature
Cthulhu. This is remarkably similar to the power that the birth mark exhibits over Aylmer as he allows
it to encroach on his sanity. The birth mark and Cthulhu both

Language Discrimination In Language
Language Discrimination Language discrimination is treating an individual unfairly due to the
features of their speech for instance, accent, vocabulary size and syntax. The growing Latino
population has been a cause or rising concern among most of the white Americans. This rapid growth
is viewed by the whites as a potential cause of the extinction of English and the way of life in
America. As a result, the whites have strived to discourage the use of Latinos heritage language which
has been discriminative (Barret 180). Despite the fact that language discrimination is being fought
against, it still exists in America. The linguistic profiling is as dangerous as racial profiling since it
denies one the opportunity to have equal chances of getting a degree, employment, a place of
residence and even healthcare because people use false general assumptions concerning a language in
order to justify the judgements concerning race, origin, religion, ethnicity and regional affiliation than
with communication and language. The two leading English dialects in Latino America that is, Puerto
Rican and Chicano English are viewed as substandard. Besides, they assumed to have been highly
influenced by African American English. This paper aims to discuss language discrimination with
emphasis on the Latino community, and how it affects the members of the Latino community both in
workplaces and institutions. In the USA, strong bonds exist which tend to connect language and

The Evolution Of The Corporation
The Evolution of the Corporation
The Evolution of the Corporation
In a capitalist society where the growth and power of corporations are ever evolving it is critical to
determine the effects and consequences this evolution brings upon the business world. The
Stockholder Theory maintains that managers should act merely as agents to the stockholder and only
serve their interests the maximization of profits (45). Milton Friedman s argument being, they are the
owners of the business, and hence they should be entitled to all profits (45). Although this simple
profit motive concept may achieve the desired result, and address all of the interests of the
stakeholders it lacks compassion that is so prevalent, and in my opinion superior, ... Show more

If law is the public s agency for translating morality into explicit social guidelines and practices it
clearly illustrates the lack of morality imposed upon society as a result of the Stockholders Theory.
According to John Stuart Mill most persons, and perhaps all, have a basic moral sensitivity to the
needs of their fellow human beings (17). This was so prominently displayed when Southeast Asia was
devastated by the recent Tsunami disaster that touched the hearts of both the public and corporate
society. Hundreds of millions of dollars were donated by the corporate sector to provide those
misfortunate people with aid. No doubt some of those corporations were displaying true social
responsibility while others were merely acting the part in order to simulate this appearance. This, in
my opinion, is the underlying difference in the two theories I am presently critiquing. Clearly Freeman
s Stakeholder theory is superior in this regard. With such massive profits accumulated by large
corporations those that decide to bear social responsibility can significantly improve society as a
whole.
Immanual Kant proposes that persons should be treated as ends and never purely as means to the ends
of others (22). Kantian ethics nicely distinguishes the difference between Friedman s

Gaucher s disease (GD) is the most common lysosome storage disease in the world. There are three
types of Gaucher s. All types except type 1 are neuropathic form. Type 2 specifically is the most lethal

This causes glucosylceramide to accumulate in the body. Scientist have been trying to figure out a way
to combat this. Eliglustat is that answer. Glycosphingolipid synthesis and degradation relies on
glucosylceramide for its base cerebroside to make more complex glycosphingolipid. The
glycosphingolipid pathway starts with ceramide and UDP glucose making glucosylceramide via
glucosylceramide synthase which will then be used to make Ceramide via β glucocerebrosidase and
eventually Ganglioside GM2 and GM1. Now on a histology level glucosylceramide accumulate in
lysosomal compartment of macrophages which gives rise to foam cells or Gaucher cells. Eliglustat

glycospholipids (J. A. Shayman, 2010). Patients taking Eliglustat can experience fatigue, head ache,
back pain, nausea, diarrhea, pain in extremities and upper abdominal pain. These conditions were said
to be the most common for people taking the drug. Other symptoms that were reported were dizziness,
gastroesophageal reflux disease, palpitations, rash, cough, dyspepsia, constipation and asthenia. Most

Few documentary sources exist from the Caribbean islands and the Latin American mainland written
by Africans or their descendants that describe their life under enslavement. In Brazil, two mulatto
abolitionists wrote sketchy descriptions of their personal experiences, and one autobiography of a
black man was published before emancipation. In contrast, several thousand slave narratives and eight
full length autobiographies were published in the United States before the outbreak of the Civil War

Black women and men from various African nations resided on the sugar plantations, including
Musungo Congos, Mandingos, Gangas, Lucumis and Carabalis. Montejo comments on the games
played by Africans, sugar refining in small mills, taverns that sold supplies to the slaves, and religious
practices. He rejects the myth that Africans committed suicide by hanging or drowning themselves,
but argues instead that they flew back to their homeland with a religious object (known as a prenda)
tied to their waist. Slaves loved music, particularly the use of the drum. Montejo laments that the
white man s music had no drum at all. Tasteless (Barnet 1994, p. 33). Montejo depicts the Africans
with whom he lived as people of great physical beauty, compassion, and sensuality. He also presents
clear evidence of the brutal treatment inflicted on these African slaves by masters and overseers.
Planters often locked their slaves in stocks for two or three months for minor offenses, and whipping
was common. The barracoon [slave quarters] was bare dirt, empty, and lonely (Barnet 1994, p. 24).
Slaves rose at 4:30 a.m. and then worked from 6:00 a.m. until sunset cutting sugar cane and working
in the mill.

should also consider that students coming from homes where two or more languages are used will face
difficulty in applying while in the school environment. The fact that so few Americans command any

American economy will benefit from bilingual education because historically multilingual personnel

Mongol Empire Dbq Essay
The Mongols are a group of men and some women who took over China, and united the largest
empire in the world history. They did this in many ways, some positive and some negative, using
smart tactics to make their way to ruling the empire. Nevertheless, the Mongols had a more positive
impact than negative by influencing transportation and communication, economic diversity, and
politics in the world around them for many years. According to Document 6, the Mongols improved
transportation and communication. Improvement of transportation and communication, both play a
massive role in economic development for the empire. They allowed people to trade new materials

played a bigger part in improving transportation and communication was the Silk Road. It spanned the

The environment of the Mississippi Delta played a huge role of the lives of Hamer and Eastland.
Hammer life was not as great as Eastland going up in the Delta. The Mississippi Delta climate was
warm and humid great spot for soil and growing cotton. For Harmer life was hard such as living,
shelter and safety. Growing up as a sharecropper poor and work in cotton fields was not so nice her

Teaching A Foreigner Language And An Training Of Teaching...
The aim of this essay is to reflect the experience of teaching a foreigner language and an analyzation

Task Based Learning (TBL). Second part of the essay is a self reflection on my peer teaching lesson
and how I could apply in practice the Presentation, Production, Practice (PPP) teaching strategy and
how to improve my teaching skills.
Firstly, the positive parts of the TBL lesson, the Teacher (T) was leading the lesson by concentrating
on the local needs of the Learners(L) (Tarone and Yule, 1990). To investigate the L s knowledge, she

According to Scrivener all these are pending on the language level of the Ls because the activities
should be more effective to use the language (Scrivener, 2010:58.). Ellis suggesting the lesson could
improve with more concentration of leading process than by using fewer tasks. Furthermore, near to
the end of the class the T could not balance the interaction between herself and the Ls and it led to a
diverted situation which expanded the Teacher Talking Time (Stewick, 1980).
Following strategies, I learned during the observation that the best way is to shorten the controlled
practice to use more talking tasks. During the preparation of the lesson, T need to keep the attention of
the Ls, and give clear instructions, use tools such as pictures and the writing on board because they
would lose motivations to do the task easily. Also, during the activity, the T s role is to monitor how
the L could work together in groups and individually. The most practical way of the seating is the
horseshoe arrangement (Gower, Phillips, and Walters, 2014).
In order to identify our strengths and weaknesses of our teaching skills, each member of the class
participated in a 10 minutes peer teaching lesson. My chosen language was Hungarian and the aim of
the lesson was to learn the different pronunciation some letters which English does not include.
The main difficulties I had to face with were the planning the lesson and my anxiety. For me the

Taking a Look at Active Learning
Learning is defined as a relatively permanent change in behaviour as a result of acquisition of skills,
knowledge or behaviour through the act of teaching, experiences or study. The large majority of our
behaviours are learnt through experiences, either intentionally, or unintentionally. The most prominent
examples of learning are conditioning and cognitive learning. Learning can also be passive or active,
with classical conditioning being an example of passive learning, whilst cognitive learning, for
example observational learning, being an example of active learning. Active learning is when an
individual uses cognitive processes to learn a behaviour, whereas during passive learning, an
individual is acted upon, henceforth learning a new behaviour. The presentation of the Frequency of
Aggressive Responses by Children in Control Groups and Those Exposed to Aggressive and Non
aggressive Models shows a prominent difference in how children react to certain models, or lack of
thereof. The research shows that children shown aggressive model treatment showed approximately
95% of aggressive responses, whereas the non aggressive model group only showed 40% of
aggressive responses. This shows that children who are presented with cartoon models are more likely
to repeat such behaviour, although they are not taking part in the behaviour, or receiving a reward for
repeating the behaviour. This study shows how the use of media can be used as a tool for helping
individuals learn without

The Palestinian Conflict Of The Middle East
Israeli Palestinian Conflict The creation of two sovereign states is the only possibility of a peaceful
end to the conflict over historical Palestine in the Middle East. To achieve this, a third party must offer
enough incentive to both the Arabic and Jewish states and create a sovereign Palestinian state. This is
not a very probable outcome, as the conflict is rooted in the peoples traditions and beliefs making it
much harder to compromise. I predict this conflict will end in the overwhelming takeover of the
Palestinian and Holy Land area by the militarily superior Israelites and the trampling of the Arab
people. Conflict over Palestine and the less well defined, Holy Land, is deeply rooted in Middle
Eastern society. Conflicting claims over the land have rocked Palestine and the surrounding states for
many years. The two key actors in the Israeli Palestinian conflict include the Jews and the Arabs.
Outside actors who also have influence and interests over the area include Europe, America, and
Egypt. Jewish interest in the Palestinian territory is based either religiously or with the interest of
creating a Jewish state. According to religious writings and tradition, the Holy Land was promised to
the Jewish people. Groups who identify religiously do not necessarily support the creation of a Jewish
state. Jews who do hold interest in the creation of a Jewish state are identified as Zionists. While today
s Zionists continue to call for an end of the diaspora of the Jewish

Charles Town, WV Abstract
This paper explores the different aspects of security as it pertains to database systems. It will provide
an overview of security concerns such as access control, user authentication, reliability and data
integrity, as well as how IT professionals might mitigate the risk associated with each. By examining
the methodology by which attacks on database systems occur, we are able to take a comprehensive
approach to prevent or limit the extent of such attacks and the impact they may have on a DBMS
environment. Finally, we will review industry best practices of the implementation of security
countermeasures.
Introduction Over the past ten to fifteen years, there has been tremendous growth in the utilization of
database systems. One reason for this is because of the growth E Commerce has experienced.
Businesses must have a reliable method of storing a customer s information safely and efficiently. We
often hear of a data breach which results in customers credit card information being stolen. There are
inherent risks associated with storing financial information in an online capacity, such as hackers and
ill intentioned employees. Given the diverse nature of the interconnectivity of these systems, there is a

The Use Of Shoplifting And Its Effects On Society
Many people suffer from some kind of mental illness. Often when people are caught shoplifting they
blame it on kleptomania or some other kind of psychological disorder. Most people cannot fathom the
idea of someone accidently placing some merchandise in their pockets and walking out of the store
without paying. This is why it is hard to tell if someone is lying when they say they have an illness.
Not a lot of people call it a crime. Shoplifting has been linked to impulse control, substance abuse,
bipolar disorder, personality disorders and many others. Most individuals with an illness steal as a way
to cope with unwanted thoughts or feelings. People with an impulse disorder are unable to resist the
urge to steal objects that they may not even need. Even though kleptomania is one of the illnesses that
cause people to shoplift, a vast majority of shoplifters are clinically depressed. Only very few of the
many convicted shoplifters are referred to the psychiatrist , (Anonymous, 1955, pp. 1422). There are
many 12 step programs available for people that have shoplifting problems. No studies have been
done to evaluate their success.
Peer pressure
Everyone knows what it feels like to want to fit in to a group and participate in some kind of
dangerous activity in order to look cool. Peer pressure can contribute to some of the shoplifting that
happens today, especially in the younger crowd. Most people do not realize how serious shoplifting
really is. There s no distinctive type

Plato s Allegory Of The Cave Analysis
The Matrix is a film that delves into many philosophical ideas, one of which is Plato s Allegory of the
Cave. In the allegory, prisoners are chained to the cave wall. They cannot move and are only allowed
to see the wall in front of them. Behind them is a burning fire, and puppeteers control the puppets that
cast shadows on the wall of the cave. The prisoners can only perceive what they see on the cave wall,
and their conception of reality is based on this incomplete view, which is an imperfect copy of the real
world.
However one of the prisoners breaks free from the chains and escapes from the cave. His eyes, used to
darkness, are blinded by the sun to the point that he wants to return to the cave. Slowly, his eyes adjust
and after much suffering and self realisation the man can finally perceive reality as it actually is. The

Morpheus replies, Because you ve never used them before. Just like Plato s prisoner, Neo is at first in
denial, but eventually realises that the shadows he sees are not the truth, just shadows cast on the wall
by the puppets. His eyes get adjusted to the Sun s brilliant light and he sees reality.
Another interesting link between Plato s Allegory and The Matrix is that both the prisoner and Neo
grow more intelligent and develop new skills. They are in full control of their own abilities. The
prisoner in the Cave learns infinite wisdom once he breaks free from the cave. In The Matrix , Neo is
able to stop bullets, defy gravity, and possesses superhuman abilities once he accepts the truth and

Missionary Trip To America Research Paper
By attending the missionary trip to South Africa, I have touched the lives of many just as they have for
me in their own ways. However, they may not even realize that they have changed my life for the
better. Some touches are like a ripple in the water; blending and mixing to create a beautiful harmony.
Others are like a splash. They transform people s lives with grace, mercy, and forgiveness; they bring
people closer. When one thinks of a mission trip, what is the general assumed illustration? A group of
Christians reconstructing non believers into religious disciples? Churches being built so that
worshippers have someplace to go to interact with Christ? For me, a mission trip can be that or
something small, like we seemed to do while recently visiting Southern Africa. Visiting South Africa

How to Fight Against Gum Disease
Periodontitis is a condition that is usually caused by plaque build up. It is pretty common in that it
affects most people at some point in their life. Symptoms may include loose teeth, oral sensitivity,
persistent bad breath, and swollen gums. If left untreated, this ailment could advance into a serious
infection that causes the breakdown of connective tissue and bone, which ultimately leads to tooth

Even more worrying is the possibility of the pathogenic bacteria finding its way into your bloodstream
and infecting other parts of your body. This makes it important to combat periodontal disease as early

two to three times a week too. Better yet, just rub aloe vera on the affected areas.

For more advanced forms of periodontal disease, your dentist may suggest one of several types of
surgical procedures to fully eradicate inflammation and abscesses. Your options include grafts where
lost bone is replaced with man made materials or where exposed roots get covered; regeneration

Religious Studies Courses On Christianity
Religious studies courses focusing on Christianity can benefit from reading Dashiell Hammett s The
Maltese Falcon. Why? Because religious studies can incorporate other studies as well. For example,
sociology can be used during religious studies courses to study why people believe in a specific deity
or how religion can affect the behavior of individuals. Psychology can be incorporated as well because
religion can have both negative and positive psychological effects. An example is how religion can be
used to persuade people to do both good and bad things depending on how it is taught and interpreted.
Focusing on the aspect of the deadly sins in The Maltese Falcon this novel can be used a tool to
diagnose and assign each character an aspect of sin to represent. This would give students a book other
than the bible to use as a reference to the behaviors that are associated with the seven deadly sins.

Research Studies Associate Smallholders With Negative...
Studies associate smallholders with negative attitudes towards index based insurance within prisms of
limited prodding the existing manifold risks. This article analyses perception of smallholders towards
weather index insurance amid common risks and coping strategies. The study was carried out in Embu
County, Eastern Kenya using a sample of 401 smallholders obtained following a multistage sampling
technique. The study established that the most important risks to the smallholder farmers were
drought, input costs and crop pests and diseases respectively while the least ranked risks in the same
order of importance were excess rains, floods and frost. Similarly, the results reveal that the
smallholder farmers ranked engagement in off farm work, use of household savings and crop
diversification as the most important strategies of coping with drought. Borrowing from banks, food
aid and stopping children from attending school were also ranked as the least important strategies. In
addition, the findings do not strongly suggest a negative attitude towards weather index insurance
among smallholders thus controverting hitherto studies that do not overly explain why? Furthermore
the study rather postulates that other risks facing smallholders and their risk responses disposition may

1. Signing of petition for the creation of a new immigration reform. We would write a petition for
congress to aprove a comprehensive immigration reform. On this petition we will include all
documentation of our research, so the public and congrees can look at the numbers and the proof that
an immigration reform woul benefith Americans and immigrants.
2. Research and collect documentation about the real cost of deporting parents of American kids.
Deporting parents is counterproductive. The sicological trauma of kids been serarate of their parents
create the necesity of terapy and visits to doctors office that the government ends paying. In the
economic aspect the deportation of parents of american kids is also counterproductive

The Role Of Norma Rae And Peggy Bull And Norma Rae
Leaders have always been an essential part to any team. People learn from different leaders that
develop and change their leadership skills and style. There are leaders in our schools, church, and
workplaces. When we think of leadership, we tend to think of the workplace most. Norma Rae and
Peggy Sinclair are both leaders who face different types of adversity. They each receive help from
other leaders that shape their leadership skills in different ways. Peggy and Norma each must adapt
their skills to meet the needs of their teams, and each do it in a way that is positively effective.
Norma Rae is a movie based on a real person. Norma Rae works at a plant with long hours, short pay,
and harsh, unsafe working conditions under poor ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
She was persistent, and persistence is a great way to achieve results in the manner needed or wanted.
Because of these qualities combined, she was a motivator. To see the change necessary, others must
see the need for the change and believe in the vision, and Norma motivated them to see that vision of a
better work environment. When the managers promoted Norma Rae to a supervisor position, she
noticed an immediate difference in the relationships she had with the workers. The workers viewed
her as if she was one of the managers who told everyone what and when to do something. Her rapport
with the workers dwindled quickly including her mother and father who worked at the plant too.
Norma quickly realized that the role the management team had in the plant was not what she wanted
to be a part of. She stepped out of the position because she saw they weren t leaders; the management
team were dictators. She wanted to be a part of the team of plant workers. There was a since of team
within the plant workers. Fortunately for Norma Rae, Reuben was able to draw out and utilize her true
leadership skills.
Reuben was a motivated leader. When plans do not immediately go the way one envisions, it is easy to
give up. Reuben was not one to give up. People in the town were against the idea of a union, and they
made that clear to Reuben. Reuben did not give up. He was determined to get someone to believe in
the need for a union. It is important that leaders can face adversity and keep

What A Truly Good Person Muhammad
after birth leaving Khadija and Muhammad with four daughters (Stewart, 36). Muhammad and
Khadija took in Jafar and Ali sons of Abu Talib (Stewart, 36). In order to understand what a truly good
person Muhammad was the reader must know the true depth of his humanity and benevolence as
evidenced by the following text. Zayd Ibn was a slave who was given as a gift to Muhammad
(Stewart, 37). After Zayd Ibn came to Muhammad s home the boy s biological father located him and
asked Muhammad to let the boy return to his home (Stewart, 37). Zayd Ibn rejected his father s wish
and asked to stay with Muhammad s family because he loved it there (Stewart, 37). Muhammad was
so pleased by Zayd Ibn s admiration for his family that he freed the boy from slavery and formally
adopted him (Stewart, 37). Muhammad had also freed his slave Baraka and even arranged a marriage
for her (Stewart, 37). After the death of Baraka s husband she returned to Muhammad (Stewart, 37).
Muhammad and his large family welcomed Baraka into their family (Stewart, 37). Earlier the
preceding text discussed the mistreatment of slaves by the rich in Mecca. Muhammad s kindness is
evident in the fact that his freed slaves wanted to remain in his household.
Muhammad often sought out solitude in the hills of Mecca. During the month of Ramadan
Muhammad would sometimes spend all of the days and nights in the peaceful solitude of the hills
(Stewart, 39). It was on Mount Hira in Mecca that Muhammad experienced a

The Crystal Palace And The Maison De Verre
The Crystal Palace, located in London, England, was constructed in 1851 by Joseph Paxton. Having
been the world s first structure to be built entirely out of glass, it has inspired and influenced many
glass frame construction throughout the years. It held many exhibitions during its lifetime and hosted
thousands of people from around the world. Unfortunately, the great Crystal Palace had a major design
flaw that inevitable caused its great destruction: flammable wood flooring and glass frame work. The
Palace caught fire and a sunny day in November 1936 and was never rebuilt. One of the many
buildings that were influenced by the Crystal Palace was the Masison de Verre in Paris, France. The
Maison de Verre was building in 1932 for a rich doctor who used the home as both a living space and
his office. The designer had to design the space in such a way that accommodated the doctor s needs.
For the purpose of this paper, I will be comparing the structure of both the Crystal Palace and the
Maison de Verre. Joseph Paxton was born in August 1803 in London England and died June of 1865.
Paxton s educational background was in architectural gardening. He was a Member of Parliament and
was contracted to design a lot of green houses for the government. For Joseph, the Crystal Palace was
his greatest master piece. He wanted the exhibit space to be grand, modern and something that has
never been made in the Victorian Era. His approach was to design the building with new and

Aristocrat Organizational Structure
The capacity of an organization to survive in the present, intricate and competitive business
environment is strongly grounded on the nimbleness and flexibility of the established organizational
structure (Shafieem Razminia Zeymaran, 2016). Furthermore, the effectiveness of the organizational
structure is a significant aspect of obtaining a competitive advantage in the industry. Unfortunately, at
Aristocrat, the establish structure is ineffective and creates a cumbersome environment and therefore
acts in a preventive manner rather than as a source of competitive advantage. The ineffectiveness of
the organization structure at Aristocrat appear to be a result of at least two significant inadequacies.
The first concern relates to the undefined reporting lines between geographical locations. The Class III
business segment has multiple locations throughout North, Central and South America that
collectively are known as the American Class III Operations. Unfortunately, each of the functional
areas at these isolated locations report to different managers and management levels at the North
American headquarters. Moreover, some the employees report directly to Australia rather than North
America. The informal and unstructured reporting lines at these locations results in ineffective ...

Rather than operating in joint efforts, each of the segments competes for the same scarce resources
that are dictated by the Executive Management in Sydney, Australia. Furthermore, each of these
segments operates under significantly different policies and procedures as a result of the absent of
Corporate Guidance. The lack of comprehensive direction and standards fuel the intercompany
competitiveness that discourages flexibility and generates an environment where detailed business
cases must be created to enact change or to execute

Bokanovsky s Process By Aldous Huxley
One of the most interesting fictional thought created in the novel, is the process of cloning people. In
the perspective of Aldous Huxley, he believes that the world would be better off without the process of
growth. Therefore, he created a technique (Bokanovsky s Process) that would fasten the advancement
of growth and bring sophisticated people into its society. As a reader, I noticed how Huxley
symbolized social stability as the Bokanovsky s Process. The author utilizes symbolism when the
Bokanovsky s Process is described as an abstraction that insure everyone s (in the caste) equality. The
purpose of this procedure was to enforce the government, in order to control the population and the
functions of the people in their society. I believe this quote, was brought into this novel in order to
reveal the ugly truth behind society. The government believes that they can create a perfect world by
controlling the citizens both mentally and physically. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
In my opinion, I believe that the director s envision is the concept of how everything revolves around
its supremacy for happiness and virtue. In order to find happiness the government used the technique
of brain washing (also called condition) to keep this society from chaos. However, in my vibes, I feel
that the director is trying to hide and bury the truth of their society to conceal the past history. In
addition, we can point out the significant theme from this quote. The theme that is presented in this
quote is the theory that when someone does not know its place (or goal) it becomes useless; therefore
their approach towards the future (or destination) cannot be as

Essay on 7 Habits Of Highly Effective People
Stephen R. Covey s self help book is an influential communication for personal change. He advises
building from the inside out and offers a plan for moving from dependence to independence and then
to interdependence. The inside out approach starts first with one self, which includes paradigms,
characters, and motivations. To improve relationships with others, we have to first improve ourselves
by putting character ahead of personality. Covey prefaces the book by explaining paradigms and
principles. Paradigms are maps that guide us and affect the way we interact with people. He states, We
see the world not as it is, but as we are or as we are conditioned to see it (page 28). Paradigms have a
greater impact over effectiveness than any ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Covey states that effectiveness is based on a principle he called the P/PC balance. This P/PC balance
principle lies in the balance of production of desired results to the production capabilities. The PC
principle is to always treat your employees exactly as you want them to treat your best customers
(page 58). Covey states that the P/PC balance is the essence of effectiveness: It s the definition and
paradigm of effectiveness upon which the seven habits in this book are based (page 58). Covey calls
those things that we have no control over the circle of concern. Those that we can control fall into the
circle of influence. He describes three areas that problems fall into. They are direct control, indirect
control and no control. Direct control problems involve our own behavior. There are addressed in the
three habits. Covey explains that private victories precede public victories. Private victories are
solving problems by working on our own habits. Indirect control problems are solved by changing our
methods. Public victories are discussed in Habits 4, 5 6 and involve learning new methods of
influence. No control problems are those that we can do nothing about but accept them so that we do
not empower these problems to control us (page 86). It is how we change our habits, methods and

In Schindler s List, Goeth is a Nazi, who is in charge of a concentration camp. He was born to hate the
Jews and has no mercy towards them. He shoots them off his balcony, at random, showing that he has
no disregard for their lives. When he comes to take charge of the concentration camp he lines up all
the women to pick one as his cleaning lady. He picks Helen by chance and she begins her job. Helen
tells Schindler that the first night she was working, Goethe beat her. He beat her even harder when she
asked him why she was being beaten. Throughout the war, and movie Goethe starts to develop feeling
towards Helen. Helen thinks that someday he will shoot her. Schindler can see Goethe mixed feeling
towards Helen and know that he will not because

You see, typically I don t dream about 9 foot tall men assorted armor and swords and glowing gold
eyes marching around a mountain chanting my name. They were horrible, tall and muscular but
somehow looking crippled as an old man, and man I don t think I should have been able to smell
anything in a dream but dang was I wrong. They smelled like someone had forced a couple of dogs to
roll in their own waste then take a bath in the sewer, if I was gonna pass out it would be from the
stench, not from fear. I woke with a start and gasped for air that didn t smell like well... you get the
point. I looked out my window, it was overcast and felt pretty chilly, which was weird for January in
California. My mom walked into the room and smiled at me Look who s alive, my creation

  • 2. Identifying And Identify Two Unknown Bacteria From A Mixed... For many years the identification of microorganisms has been important in the world of medicine. It is essential or correct disease diagnosis in patients and for proper treatment. Knowing the correct identity and characteristics of microorganism is crucial when disease outbreaks occur in populations, also knowing how humans can benefit from microorganisms is important; many can be used in making certain foods or antibiotics. The purpose of this study project was to carefully isolate and identify two unknown bacteria from a mixed culture. The ability to properly evaluate biochemical test results is also necessary for the identification to be successful. The goal was to apply all of the methods and techniques that have been learned in the microbiology laboratory course for the proper identification of unknown bacteria. A certain amount of bacteria that were used throughout the course were possible bacteria that could be found in a mixed culture. The bacteria that were identified in the mixed culture were Staphylococcus Aureus and Kocuria Rhizophila. Staphylococcus aureus is the leading cause of skin and soft tissue infections, it can cause serious infections such as bloodstream infection, pneumonia or bone infections. Though it can cause infections it is part of the normal human flora it is mostly found on the skin or in nasal cavities. It is a facultative anaerobic gram positive cocci, it is usually in pairs or clusters. The bacterium is also catalase positive, oxidase ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Like movies, there is a director, but games can have two specific directors: a technical director, whose focus is gameplay, and the creative director, who focuses on the story. Unlike movies, multiple directors need to work together to blend the story and gameplay to keep players engaged. One of Naughty Dog s most popular games, and possibly my favorite game, The Last of Us is a perfect blend of story and gameplay. The Last of Us fits into the survival horror genre in a zombie apocalypse scenario, limiting the player s resources to fight and defend themselves which works effectively within the story. It develops every character thoroughly, even minor ones, as well as their relationships with one another. • 4. The Mexican American War Essay The United States of America has been through many wars, wars concerning many things such as land oil, pride and respect. However, when the United States went to war with Mexico, it was planned over greed. The Mexican American war was a war provoked by the United States, in efforts to expand the coasts of the country. Mexico was a small under privileged country who had previously to the war had already lost part of their country (Texas). Needless to say this war was cut throat and violent, it was however one of the smartest business decisions America has ever made. The prelude to the war began in the 1830s when Mexico decided to open up their home to America. Due to the fact that Mexico was under populated, and had too much land they ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Manifest Destiny is a term for the American expansion that the united States not only could, but was destined to, stretch from coast to coast. Protestants left England and came to America in the 17th century, and to their understanding arriving to America safely was a sign that god had chosen them to spread their knowledge, to be a city upon a hill . Which is a phrase from the bible means to be looked upon and to set an example for the world to see. You are the light of the world. A city that is set on a hill cannot be hidden Matthew 5:14. This religious example inspired protestants that it was not just their job but there religious responsibility to expand and show others the right way. One reason that many wetlands have been drained is to get rid of mosquitoes. In the process, valuable ecosystems were destroyed. Now many people want to restore wetlands. Should people have to be concerned with what is going too happened to the mosquitoes and wetland, or they have to be thinking about how to protect the ecosystems? The movie, which was thoroughly researched so it could be as accurate as possible, is inaccurate with the book. In the film, however, Perry tells Capote the details of the murder directly in Perry s cell. This inconsistency was most notable, especially since Capote never once mentioned actually meeting Perry. However, in the movie, Capote befriends Smith and visits him regularly. Another notable difference is the coverage of the murderers. In the book, you learn a lot about the lives of the killers before the murder, starting in their childhood, especially for Perry (pg. 131). However, in the movie, Capote asks very few questions about their lives prior to the murders. Another obvious detail is the presence of Harper Lee; there was no mention of her in the novel but according to the movie, she was prevalent from the very second that Capote went to Holcomb. The two main categories of drugs used for this purpose are ACE inhibitors and ß blockers. As previously stated, ACE is an enzyme that converts angiotensin I into angiotensin II. This can be problematic in the failing heart because of the effects of angiotensin II, specifically vasoconstriction and enhanced sympathetic activity (Jackson, et al., 2000). This was quantified by measuring changes in the electrical fibrillation threshold (EFT) after the addition of the individual drugs during increasing periods of ischemia. The results showed an increase in incidence of spontaneous ventricular fibrillation after each drug treatment when in the ischemic environment. Another result was a decrease in the duration of monophasic action potentials (MAP) after the drug treatment. Because this time became shorter, the critical level for triggering fibrillation was reached sooner (Aupetit, et al., 1997). He speaks directly of battlefront in the first octet and then includes the home front in the second half of his sonnet. Owen s purpose is not a commemoration of fallen soldiers. This continues his idea of humans being incapable of understanding issues of such a large scale and that we are wasting our time trying to do so therefore we should just assume that the universe simply exists because it exists. This theory is very well thought out, as there is no tangible evidence that there is a single entity which created the universe. A wise man proportions his belief to the evidence David Hume. This lends itself to creating two different short stories, both can be classified as horror or suspenseful. Hawthorne s story, published earlier, shares a similar theme of humanity and union with The Call of Cthulhu. The documentary style of H.P. In Hawthorne s story, we are able to see how the attempt to control humanity is worthless as we are all doomed and mortal creatures. As Aylmer attempts to remove said humanity, he ultimately loses life as they are intertwined. Similarly, Lovecraft explores a world where humans are not the only thing in the world, nor the most powerful. Humans are shown as weak, especially in comparison to the creature Cthulhu. Montejo depicts the Africans with whom he lived as people of great physical beauty, compassion, and sensuality. He also presents clear evidence of the brutal treatment inflicted on these African slaves by masters and overseers. Planters often locked their slaves in stocks for two or three months for minor offenses, and whipping was common. The barracoon [slave quarters] was bare dirt, empty, and lonely (Barnet 1994, p. 24). Slaves rose at 4:30 a.m. and then worked from 6:00 a.m. until sunset cutting sugar cane and working in the mill. In a chapter entitled Life in the Woods, Montejo talked about his decision to escape. The first part of the essay is an evaluation of the weaknesses and strengths of a Task Based Learning (TBL). Second part of the essay is a self reflection on my peer teaching lesson and how I could apply in practice the Presentation, Production, Practice (PPP) teaching strategy and how to improve my teaching skills. Firstly, the positive parts of the TBL lesson, the Teacher (T) was leading the lesson by concentrating on the local needs of the Learners(L) (Tarone and Yule, 1990). Furthermore, near to the end of the class the T could not balance the interaction between herself and the Ls and it led to a diverted situation which expanded the Teacher Talking Time (Stewick, 1980). Following strategies, I learned during the observation that the best way is to shorten the controlled practice to use more talking tasks. During the preparation of the lesson, T need to keep the attention of the Ls, and give clear instructions, use tools such as pictures and the writing on board because they would lose motivations to do the task easily. Also, during the activity, the T s role is to monitor how the L could work together in groups and individually. • 30. Taking a Look at Active Learning Learning is defined as a relatively permanent change in behaviour as a result of acquisition of skills, knowledge or behaviour through the act of teaching, experiences or study. The large majority of our behaviours are learnt through experiences, either intentionally, or unintentionally. The most prominent examples of learning are conditioning and cognitive learning. Learning can also be passive or active, with classical conditioning being an example of passive learning, whilst cognitive learning, for example observational learning, being an example of active learning. Active learning is when an individual uses cognitive processes to learn a behaviour, whereas during passive learning, an individual is acted upon, henceforth learning a new behaviour. The presentation of the Frequency of Aggressive Responses by Children in Control Groups and Those Exposed to Aggressive and Non aggressive Models shows a prominent difference in how children react to certain models, or lack of thereof. The research shows that children shown aggressive model treatment showed approximately 95% of aggressive responses, whereas the non aggressive model group only showed 40% of aggressive responses. This shows that children who are presented with cartoon models are more likely to repeat such behaviour, although they are not taking part in the behaviour, or receiving a reward for repeating the behaviour. The Palestinian Conflict Of The Middle East Israeli Palestinian Conflict The creation of two sovereign states is the only possibility of a peaceful end to the conflict over historical Palestine in the Middle East. To achieve this, a third party must offer enough incentive to both the Arabic and Jewish states and create a sovereign Palestinian state. This is not a very probable outcome, as the conflict is rooted in the peoples traditions and beliefs making it much harder to compromise. I predict this conflict will end in the overwhelming takeover of the Palestinian and Holy Land area by the militarily superior Israelites and the trampling of the Arab people. Conflict over Palestine and the less well defined, Holy Land, is deeply rooted in Middle Eastern society. Conflicting claims over the land have rocked Palestine and the surrounding states for many years. The two key actors in the Israeli Palestinian conflict include the Jews and the Arabs. Outside actors who also have influence and interests over the area include Europe, America, and Egypt. Jewish interest in the Palestinian territory is based either religiously or with the interest of creating a Jewish state. According to religious writings and tradition, the Holy Land was promised to the Jewish people. Groups who identify religiously do not necessarily support the creation of a Jewish state. It will provide an overview of security concerns such as access control, user authentication, reliability and data integrity, as well as how IT professionals might mitigate the risk associated with each. By examining the methodology by which attacks on database systems occur, we are able to take a comprehensive approach to prevent or limit the extent of such attacks and the impact they may have on a DBMS environment. Finally, we will review industry best practices of the implementation of security countermeasures. Introduction Over the past ten to fifteen years, there has been tremendous growth in the utilization of database systems. One reason for this is because of the growth E Commerce has experienced. Businesses must have a reliable method of storing a customer s information safely and efficiently. We often hear of a data breach which results in customers credit card information being stolen. There are inherent risks associated with storing financial information in an online capacity, such as hackers and ill intentioned employees. • 34. The Use Of Shoplifting And Its Effects On Society Many people suffer from some kind of mental illness. Often when people are caught shoplifting they blame it on kleptomania or some other kind of psychological disorder. Most people cannot fathom the idea of someone accidently placing some merchandise in their pockets and walking out of the store without paying. This is why it is hard to tell if someone is lying when they say they have an illness. Not a lot of people call it a crime. Shoplifting has been linked to impulse control, substance abuse, bipolar disorder, personality disorders and many others. Most individuals with an illness steal as a way to cope with unwanted thoughts or feelings. People with an impulse disorder are unable to resist the urge to steal objects that they may not even need. Even though kleptomania is one of the illnesses that cause people to shoplift, a vast majority of shoplifters are clinically depressed. Only very few of the many convicted shoplifters are referred to the psychiatrist , (Anonymous, 1955, pp. 1422). There are many 12 step programs available for people that have shoplifting problems. No studies have been done to evaluate their success. Peer pressure Everyone knows what it feels like to want to fit in to a group and participate in some kind of dangerous activity in order to look cool. In the allegory, prisoners are chained to the cave wall. They cannot move and are only allowed to see the wall in front of them. Behind them is a burning fire, and puppeteers control the puppets that cast shadows on the wall of the cave. The prisoners can only perceive what they see on the cave wall, and their conception of reality is based on this incomplete view, which is an imperfect copy of the real world. However one of the prisoners breaks free from the chains and escapes from the cave. His eyes, used to darkness, are blinded by the sun to the point that he wants to return to the cave. • 38. Religious Studies Courses On Christianity Religious studies courses focusing on Christianity can benefit from reading Dashiell Hammett s The Maltese Falcon. Why? Because religious studies can incorporate other studies as well. For example, sociology can be used during religious studies courses to study why people believe in a specific deity or how religion can affect the behavior of individuals. Psychology can be incorporated as well because religion can have both negative and positive psychological effects. An example is how religion can be used to persuade people to do both good and bad things depending on how it is taught and interpreted. Focusing on the aspect of the deadly sins in The Maltese Falcon this novel can be used a tool to diagnose and assign each character an aspect of sin to represent. This would give students a book other than the bible to use as a reference to the behaviors that are associated with the seven deadly sins. Zayd Ibn was a slave who was given as a gift to Muhammad (Stewart, 37). After Zayd Ibn came to Muhammad s home the boy s biological father located him and asked Muhammad to let the boy return to his home (Stewart, 37).
