Reasons For The Country Of Iraq
This essay is going to cover the country of Iraq. Due to my experience with three deployments to
this country, I have found its history very interesting. I will share knowledge and facts about the
Country, culture and military. This country has an astounded religious and cultural history
documented. I believe Iraqwas once self sufficient because of its Dictator however a great threat to
the world. Sometimes I am very puzzled how we successfully invaded the country and changed
their government from a Bathes dictatorship to a multicultural, multiethnic democratically elected
government. Based on my personnel opinion I believe that Iraq will never be a self sufficient
Country if its government remains democratical until the... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

During the summer, in the low terrain the temperature is usually very hot and dry but in the
mountains where the elevation changes in the north and east parts of country the temperature is
often cooler. Winter will bring cooler weather to southern Iraq along with rain however; northern
Iraq can get extremely cold. (World Travel Guild)
One of Iraq s main topographical features known are the Euphrates River and the Tigris River that
flow from the Turkish and Syrian Arab Republic borders in the north to the Gulf in the south.
Northeast Iraq consists of mountainous terrain while the country in the west is arid desert. The
soil surrounding the two rivers is fertile; but because they lack an effective irrigation system areas
around the rivers have flooded and created areas of marshland. (World Travel Guild)
Iraq religiously recognized as the cradle of civilization. Mesopotamia the center of civilization on
the planet. The land of Iraq is historical recognized, because it is where the first law, the
Hammurabi code, enacted in Babylon thousands of years ago. It is where the seventh wonder of
the world, the Hanging Gardens of Babylon, is located. It is important culturally because Iraq was
the center of the Islamic Empire (Khilafat), and Arab civilization for hundreds of years. Iraq is
where culture and science blossomed. Religiously, there remains the oldest established church in
the world, The Church of the East, founded

The Buckminster Fullerene Is The Third Allotropic Form Of...
In general, the Buckminster Fullerene is the third allotropic form of Carbon, with the other two
being Graphite and Diamond. The more proper term used to describe these compounds in regards
to Carbon compounds would be Graphenes. (22)
The Buckminster Fullerene was first discovered in 1985 by scientists Harold Kroto, Rickard
Smalley and Robert Curl. (1) They were able to discover that when Graphite is vaporized by a
laser, a variety of large Carbon cluster compounds were formed, the C60 compound or Buckminster
Fullerene, being the most abundant. (1) The other Fullerenes found were C28 C32, C44 and C78.
The C60 compound was named after Buckminster Fuller, as he was responsible for the creation of
many geodesic domes, which resemble ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
This involves setting up an arc between two graphite electrodes and using a stream of inert gas,
such as Helium. (1) This causes the Carbon to form vapors, which then condenses into the C60
Fullerene as well as additional types of Fullerenes. Source: S. Chuanchen, G. Haibin, F. Dufei,
Extraction of C60 cluster ion beam, Review of Scientific Instruments, 65, 1405 1407 (1994).
Due to the cage like structure formed during the synthesis of the Fullerene, the compound is able
to trap small molecules of the inert gas within the structure. The general formula used to represent
a gas enclosed within the structure of the Fullerene is nX@C60, where n is the number of
trapped atoms and X represents the trapped gas. (1) The interior diameter of the C60 compound
is 7.09Г…, which is large enough to trap a variety of the noble gases including Helium, Neon,
Argon, Krypton and Xenon. (##) In addition to trapping gases, the Fullerenes are also able to hold
metal ions within the structure. Since the C60 compounds have a high electron affinity, they can
readily accept electrons from alkali metals. The compounds that are formed from the enclosure of
metal ions are known as Endohedral Metallofullerenes. (1) Examples of alkali metals that can be
placed inside the C60 compound include Sodium, Potassium, Rubidium and Caesium. For the alkali
metals, the formula would resemble, M3C60. (1) The process of putting the alkali metals inside the

The Worst Loneliness Is Not Be Comfortable With Yourself,...
Essay #2: Controversy Analysis The worst loneliness is to not be comfortable with yourself, Mark
Twain claims in Huckleberry Finn. Sometimes low self esteem leads to bigger problems with your
surroundings. Unhealthy relationships with your partner, as in case of Fear Itself are common.
This type of relationship often leads to domestic violence, substance abuse, depression, anxiety
and even suicide. Coyle s short story Fear itself shows the relationship between a girl called Kara
and a wax figure of a president. Kara s relationship throughout the story all fail to make the girl
really happy, and despite this fact, she doesn t try to change it. Kara believes her unhappiness is
nothing less than what she deserves. Kara is surrounded by people she doesn t like and becomes
involved in a relationship with an older man. This older man doesn t respect her and doesn t care
about her. Even though people know that unhealthy relationships destroy them, and might think that
it s easy to stop, in fact it s opposite and they keep drowning in their blind love towards their
offender, thinking is the only person who will ever be with them.
ADD A POINT AND A QUOTE
In the short story Fear Itself , readers can see the girl Kara, who s playing the game Categories
with her friends Ruthie and Olive in a museum. Even if the girls are tired of this game and don t
like really each other, they still keep doing it, in order not to stay alone. After some time, all of

Utility Ratios And Moral Decision
Chapter 4: Utility ratios and moral decision Chapter 4 will analyse the effect of changing the
number of people to be saved. It will be examined if reducing the number of people to be saved,
from five down to two, has an effect on moral decision making. The aim of this chapter is to see
the effect of utility ratios on moral dilemma decision making. It will be asked what will a lower
utility mean in terms of sacrifice. It is expected for the purpose of this study that changes in the
number of people to be saved can make a difference in moral decision making. Studies have
examined the issue with different numbers of people to be saved. There were also further
analyses if it made a difference if the people to be saved were older or younger, or a relative or a
friend. Moral values, rules, and virtues provide the framework for morally acceptable decisions,
without necessarily saying how these decisions can be reached. Nevertheless, moral theories do
assume that we are capable of making the right moral decisions. Thus, an empirical analysis of the
methods and resources used for moral decision making becomes important. Theoretical parallels of
economic decision theory and moral utilitarianism suggest that moral decision making can actually
use mechanisms and processes that were originally developed for non moral decision making. For
example, the computation of a reward value is done through the combination of probability and
magnitude and similar computation may also be

Cost And Purpose Of Sales Promotion
1: INTRODUCTION
1.1. Introduction to sales promotion
Meaning and Purpose of Sales Promotion:
Sales promotion consists of all promotional activities other than advertising, personal selling and
publicity that help to increase sales through non repetitive and one time communication. In other
words, it includes marketing activities other than personal selling, advertising, and publicity, that
stimulate consumer purchasing and dealer effectiveness, such as point of purchase displays, shows
and exhibitions, demonstrations and various non recurring selling efforts not in the ordinary
routine. Purpose: The ultimate aim or purpose of sales promotion is that of increasing the volume
of sales and profits but it differs from advertising and personal ... Show more content on

For example, the greater the geographical dispersion of a target market, the greater the
communication expenditure required. Similarly, if an offering is in its early life cycle, there is a
greater need of expenditure. But promotion budget should always justify the tasks to be undertaken.
A basic principle would be the cost and returns of sales promotion tools to be adopted. Hindustan
Lever has its well drawn up sales promotion budget. If any business house does not have its
promotion budget fixed, then promotion programmes will have to be designed to support the
marketing plan.
(vi) Government regulations:
Government has passed various laws and made rules to protect the consumer interest, such as the
prevention of Food Adulteration Act, the Drugs and Magic Remedies (Objectionable
Advertisements) Act, and Drugs and Cosmetics Act etc. Sales promotion policy must take into
consideration the government regulations relating to the particular product, e.g. the commodity
rates must be specified on the package and in case of medicines drug contents and date of
manufacturing, date of expire, and price must be

How To Write An Essay About The Battle Of Bataan
The Battle of Bataan: The Japanese Arrive What brought America into World War II was the
attack on Pearl Harbor on December 7, 1941. Immediately after the attack, The Japanese began its
many attacks on the the Philippines because it was property of the United States. After these air
attacks, the Japanese fourteenth army invaded the Philippine island of Luzon on December 12
1941. A larger attack, on December 22, 1941, followed in the Lingayen Gulf. The lieutenant of the
Japanese 14th army was General Masaharu Homma. The attack consisted of 43,000 Japanese
soldiers. The Japanese army was able to push back the Northern Luzon Force, commanded by Major
General Jonathan Wainwright. General Douglas Macarthur was the commander of the Philippine
army after being appointed by President Theodore Roosevelt because of his successful contributions
in the past. General MacArthur initiated War Plan Orange , which was the retreat of the United
Statesand the Philippine Army troops to the Bataan Peninsula if the japanese could not be held
back. General Macarthur began moving the supplies to the Bataan Peninsula and General George
M. Parker was in charge of preparing the defenses of the peninsula. As the week passed, Wainwright

were not very well trained either. At the beginning of the attack, they tried to move as much
supplies as they could from the Lingayen Gulf to Bataan, but they were low in transportation.
Many veterans, such as Edwin Ramsey, described the situation as disorganized and chaotic.
Edwin Ramsey said, You don t know what to expect yourself whether or not you re going to be
afraid, whether you re going to be able to stand up to it or not. So there s a great deal in the
beginning that is simply chaotic, and as a matter of fact, war is sort of controlled

Total Hip Arthroplasty Essay
During the weeks of February 7 through February 17, I observed a total hip arthroplasty on a 56
year old Caucasian female patient who suffered from a femoral neck fracture and damage to the
acetabulum. The fracture was a result from a car accident where the patient s knees collided with
the dashboard, forcing the femur into the hipand breaking the femur. For this report I will
concentrate on total hip replacement, its components, main surgical technique, and complications.
Sir John Charnleyfirst developed total joint arthroplasty in the 1960s (Skinner 395). In a total hip
replacement the articular surfaces of the acetabulum and femoral head are replaced (Lemone 1241).
A prosthesis is then used to replace the entire head of the femur... Show more content on

The acetabular components have a spherical outer surface with at least one hole to permit the
surgeon to determine if the prosthesis is fully impacted into place (Skinner 399). The inner surface
of the acetabular component then locks the UHMWPE to limit rotation and dissociation (Skinner
399). There are two crucial factors when choosing the implants. First, if the prosthesis is too stiff
then the patient may suffer from proximal osteopenia. Second, the stiffer the prosthesis is the more
likely the patient will experience pain in the thigh. To avoid these two factors the surgeon should
elect to use titanium ally instead of the cobalt chromium alloy.
There are several surgical techniques used for total hip replacement, including the posterolateral
approach, the lateral approach, the anterolateral approach, and others. For this paper I will
concentrate on the posterolateral approach since it is the most common (Skinner 396). The patient
is put into the lateral decubitus position with the affected side superior after anesthesia is
administered and a compression stocking is placed on the unaffected limb. The skin is covered
with an adhesive drape after the incision is outlined (Skinner 396). Then the hip is flexed to 45
degrees so the incision can be made in line with the femur from approximately 10 cm proximal to
the tip of the trochanter to 10 cm distal to the tip of the trochanter (Skinner 396). The incision

The German Schools
Continuing on the thought of education, April 1933 Jewish teachers were soon told to leave the
German schools and universities after the Enabling Act was soon passed. The Jewish population of
students at those universities dropped to the lowest 1 percent to resemble to the amount of Jews in
Germany, and this was all in the same year. For 5 years everything lasted at that standard until 1938
hit. When 1938 hit, every Jewish child was soon banned from attending the German schools
officially, no matter their status of where they were in that school. Judgment and segregation in the
educational system and society as a whole was steady. Germanymade it to where education was
where the Nazis can basically display and endorse their racial policies.
Many teachers began to act as if the political changes to standard were never changed. The ones
who did support the Nazis decision were soon converted to Nazism and began to undergo a new
daily life and routine. For the small percentage of 32 percent who were teachers and were brought
to the Nazi Party to be a member would wear their uniform to school and teach in it. When teachers
finally decided to develop their support system for the Party in the classrooms, the whole vibe had
changed within the students.
The teacher would enter the classroom and welcome the group with a Hitler salute , shouting Heil
Hitler! Students would have to respond in the same manner, often eight times each day at the start
and end of the day, in

Speech On Environmental Pollution
Pollution is a big problem in this day and age. Some pollution comes from burning gas to fuel
our cars or some other forms of pollution comes from volcanoes. Carbon dioxide is the main
pollutant warming the earth. But if we start producing less carbon dioxide then the earth will heat
up even more. I know it s crazy right. Carbon dioxide can be produced by cars, planes, power
plants, and many more activities that involve the burning of gas. Did you know that within the past
150 years we humans have produced the highest level of sulfur dioxide. Yes it s true. When
volcanoes erupt they produce sulfur dioxide which causes pollutionbut in this world today humans
produce the most amount of sulfur dioxide. You might be asking yourself what are other humans
doing to help prevent pollution? Well, some industrialized countries are trying to help prevent
pollution a little bit more. But we can help them with that by driving/flying less or recycling
more. So let s throw our best efforts in to help save our atmosphere. The most polluted city in the
world is Dehli, New York. Delhi, New York is so polluted that there is a little bit of a yellow tint
in the sky. Matthieu Daley spent 5 days taking pictures all around Delhi and in his photographs
you can see a little bit of yellow over the sky. We can see physical results of pollution in his
photographs. No one wants to have yellow skies so let s throw in a helping hand and do more for
the atmosphere.

Fruit Fly Trap
How to Make a Fruit Fly Trap
Oh, those pesky fruit flies! They seemingly appear out of nowhere taking up residence in your
kitchen and home. While they re most attracted to ripened fruits and vegetables, they can also be
found breeding in drains, garbage disposals, empty bottles and cans, trash containers and even mops
and cleaning rags. So, what can you do about these nuisance pests before they contaminate your
food with bacteria trap them and eliminate them!
A day in the life of a fruit fly
You can clean your kitchen until it gleams, but until all potential breeding areas are located and
eliminated, fruit flies will spread no matter how much you ve scrubbed. Generally, they lay their
eggs near the surface of fermenting foods and materials. Once they ve hatched, the tiny larvae
continue to feed near the surface of the fermenting mass. What s worse, the reproductive potential
of fruit flies is huge. So, if conditions are right they will lay about 500 eggs. And the entire
lifecycle from egg to adult happens in about one week. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The problem is, finding the source of attraction can be somewhat challenging. The best approach for
eliminating these pests suggests the University of Kentucky, Entomology, is to build a trap and
attract adult flies, where they can be eliminated for good.

The Purpose Of American History
American history is an imperative part of our nation. It allows the upcoming generations to
understand the successes and hardships the country has endured. How can the past become the
hope for our future? Before answering the complex question, we need to understand what is
history. History is not only a class, or a text book, but experiences, stories, and monuments. It is the
foundation for the present civilization. Each monument, or memorials are to teach, but also remind
younger generations of the fallen citizens, soldiers or public figures and show their sacrifices, and

History of Animal Testing Essay
Animal Testing is when people use animals in experiments, to test their reaction to what is being
tested. The range of animals used in testing is from tens of millions to more than a hundred million
used annually. There has been much debate about this topic, because, animals are the most reliable
sources to use, especially mice, because we share 95% of our genes with them, which makes them
the most common animals to use. Although, many people think animaltesting is crude and
inaccurate science, but the other hand is, would we rather use humans?

why are we using animals? The only reason why we are using animals is because we are too

The Government Of The United States Government
The United States government was created by the founding fathers to allow men to be free, but
to also have a governmental system that protects that freedom as well. The United States
government is problematic. It goes above and beyond the necessity and, because of this, is
dysfunctional at best. The government today has gone beyond protecting the rights of American
citizens. It has become a large entity that is wholly useless. The government of the United States
is too large, therefore, this creates many problems with things like governmental overreach and
extreme inefficiency. A smaller government would be more functional and could return to a
more efficient, and likely constitutional basis of existence. It may be difficult to move to a
smaller government if the United States cannot figure out a good way to do this. The size of the
government has made it to be inefficient for almost everyone to use. Unless one has insider
knowledge, they must stand at the back of a seemingly stagnant line to do simple tasks like
applying for permits. Some of this inefficiency is the result of errors made by the government
which then create more complications to fix. According to the Government Accountability Office (
GAO ), the United States government spends about 45 billion dollars a year on federal programs
that are redundant (Ehley 2014). For a government that is about 18 trillion dollars in debt, that is an
enormous amount of wasted money. The GAO defines the federal programs as

Through observation, the data is collected at the exact moment it happens. Observation is less
biasing on one s behavior rather questioning. There are disadvantages of observation as well. The
observer must be where the event will take place in order to observe. This action at times is hard
to predict. Observation is also slow, experience, and time consuming. When observing for the
purpose of data collection, observation is difficult as it relates to one s intentions attitude,
opinion, or preference. The circumstance under which a case can be made for observation is as
follows: A parent is interested in observing his or her child in school or in class. On the day the
parent is in the class, the child may not demonstrated the said unacceptable behavior in front of the
parent. Therefore, the child not demonstrating the behavior causes the parent to schedule a return

the aspects of human freedom as seen through the writings of Emile Durkheim, Alexis de
Tocqueville, and Max Weber. Each theorist presents his own ideas on what human freedom really
is and how it can exist, but they also share a few ideas as well. Durkheim is best known for his
work Suicide in which he discusses the restraints and regulations put on members of society. For
Durkheim, this is where human freedom exists; liberty exists in restraint.... Show more content on

Men tend to cling to equality more than freedom because the advantages are instantaneously
evident, and they think it will last forever. Oppositely, the advantages of freedom are not as
quickly evident, and after all, Western society is all about the now and how quick one can see
results for their efforts. Political liberty requires great exertion while political equality evidences
itself everywhere and is much easier to come by. Because of this, Tocqueville believes that if
men seek equality and freedom and do not find it, they may seek equality in other things, even
things as preposterous as equality in slavery. Democracy is about freedom and equality alike.
Equality, however, is an insatiable desire of men. For Tocqueville, I think the positive outcomes
of freedom need to more quickly evident in order for people to crave it as they do

Impressionism Vs Impressionism In Art
Throughout the course, we have learned about different types of modern works. The beauty of
learning the history behind them is to better understand how from one form of painting grows
from the other. In this case, impressionist and symbolist works have followed each other in terms
of popularity and yet have extremely different aesthetics. Using the paintings, Dance at Le moulin
de la Galette (Bal du moulin de la Galette) by Pierre Auguste Renoir and The Eye like a Strange
Balloon Mounts toward Infinity (L Е’il, comme un ballon bizarre se dirige vers l infini)
1882 by Odilon Redon I will explain and describe the differences between the two aesthetics and
how they are used in each work of art.
Impressionism emerged in France during the late half of the 19th century and could be
considered one of the first distinctly modern movement in painting. It was often rejected by
many scholars for they believed it lacked a certain high quality or polished look that was seen in
works of art in the past. The idea of Impressionism was for the artist to paint in the moment, to
capture the sensory effect of the scene and in order to create this affect Impressionists moved from
the studio to the streets painting in what is known as, en plein air. In order to create this aesthetic
Impressionist worked with loose brushstrokes and lightened their palattes to achieve pure and
intense colors. Traditional linear perspective was thrown out as well as clarity of form and the idea

The Influence of Organizational Culture on Organizational...
Rizescu, M. (2011). Orgainzational Culture Influences on the Organization s Functionality. Revista
Academie ForTelor Terestre. 1( 61): 75 82. Globalization has brought the world closer in
communication, economics, politics, and especially business. The Internet and technological
improvements have allowed instantaneous communication almost anywhere, and even poor women
in India are using Smartphones to manage their banking portfolios. The idea of globalism continues
to break down cultural barriers. As this continues it will be essential for organizations to not only
understand, but embrace cultural differences and styles (Trebing and Estabrooks, 2005). Clearly,
the changing demands of global stakeholders require new ways of approaching divergent customer
bases. There are differences in style, skill, education and attitude in every organization now
accentuated when we think of the multi national organization. Correctly managed, this diversity can
be a huge bonus to the organization. Organizations are far more effective once they understand and
use diversity within their strategic and tactical planning process. Also, the new paradigm for global
management includes creating and maintaining a diverse work environment in which cultural
diversity is encourage and celebrated, rather than simply acknowledged (We need to identify and
understand how our differences impact our relationships with other employees and customers. We

What Are The Three Levels Of Discourse Analysis
Critical discourse analysis aims to uncover ideology and power in discourse by understanding the
relationship between textural features and larger social practices. It draws on many other
approaches to discourse, including Halliday s systemic functional linguistics. (1) The three levels of
discourse analysis:
1.Micro: Individual being myself referred to as the local level.
2.Meso: Community recognition, expectations and interactions.
3.Macro: national social categories and classifications. (Banu Subramaniam, 2003). The context of

Support Vector Machines On Distributed Computers
PSVM: Parallelizing Support Vector Machines on Distributed Computers
Edward Y. Changв€
—, Kaihua Zhu, Hao Wang, Hongjie Bai, Jian Li, Zhihuan Qiu, Hang Cui
Google Research, Beijing, China
Abstract
Support Vector Machines (SVMs) suffer from a widely recognized scalability problem in both
memory use and computational time. To improve scalability, we have developed a parallel SVM
algorithm (PSVM), which reduces memory use through performing a row based, approximate
matrix factorization, and which loads only essential data to each machine to perform parallel
computation. Let n denote the number of training instances, p the reduced matrix dimension after
factorization (p is significantly smaller than n), and m the number of machines. PSVM reduces the
memory requirement from O(n2) to O(np/m), and improves computation time to O(np2/m).
Empirical study shows PSVM to be effective. PSVM Open Source is available for download at
http://code.google.com/p/psvm/.
1 Introduction
Let us examine the resource bottlenecks of SVMs in a binary classification setting to explain our
proposed solution. Given a set of training data X = {(xi, yi)|xi в€€ Rd}ni=1, where xi is an obser
vation vector, yi в€€ {в€’1,1} is the class label of xi, and n is the size of X, we apply SVMs on X
to train a binary classifier. SVMs aim to search a hyperplane in the Reproducing Kernel Hilbert
Space (RKHS) that maximizes the margin between the two classes of data in X with the smallest
train ing error (Vapnik, 1995). This

Differences Between New England And Southern Colonies
The three colonial regions varied in their societies and in their economies. New England didn t
have good farming land, but had an abundance in fishing. Middle Colonies had a little more luck
in farming with better soil and some slaves. Southern Colonies had the perfect environment for
bunches of crops and had the most slaves. All three regions did farm and own slaves, but from
least amount of slaves to most it went New England, Middle Colonies, and Southern Colonies.
Overall, all the colonies economies and societies flourished, but each regions were similar and
different including religion and staple crops. In New England s society colonists received large
amounts of land. Township grants were mainly seen in New England, and they were awarded to
organize groups of settlers and to divide land among them. The... Show more content on

Social life was more stratified as the wealthy class made themselves more distinct and created a
gap. Only plantation owners children were educated and only people who could afford it went to
college. They were not super religious, unlike the New England Puritans, and 1/15 residents were
actually members of the church. In 1642, Virginia officially became Anglican which was popular
among large land owners. In the 18th century Anglican became the official church of the south.
The Southern Colonies had the best economic advantage out of the three regions because of the
climate; there was warm weather, plentiful rainfall, and a longer growing season. In 17th century,
tobacco production soared and tobacco became the staple crop in Maryland and Virginia. It was
said that Virginia was founded upon smoke. Rice became the staple crop in South Carolina and
North Carolina became well known for their production of tar from their pine trees. As plantation

Description And Reflection Of The Dallas Museum Of Art

ENG 1301

Description and Reflection of Dallas Museum The Dallas Museum is a renowned art museum
established in 1903 and is located in Dallas, Texas (Neumann et al. 19). The Dallas Museum of art
is one of the largest art museums in the United States of America containing more than 24,000
collections of art ranging from the ancient to the modern ones (MacDonald Brettell 112). There are
numerous things inside the museum, such as the pieces of art, museum visitors, and the architecture,
that relate to the understanding of the world outside the museum in terms of the day to day life and
the human society. My goal in this essay is to think outside the box and describe the observations
I made inside the museum and explain how they relate to my everyday life, the wider world, or
the human society. The painting work done by C. Bertram Hartman was the first piece of art I
observed inside the Dallas Museum. This painting, completed in 1930, consists of a campanile
type tower, most likely a representation of a historic skyscraper (Walker 73). The painting applies
a fractured perspective blended on an urban look with muted color palettes accompanied by harsh
shadows (MacDonald Brettell 117). The painting is a reflection of the dynamism and energetic
expansion of the current New York City. The geometrical arrangement of the buildings in the
painting resemble the current scenes witnessed in New York, championing a fast pace and a

Where The Girl On The Sea Are Short Story
WHERE THE WILD THINGS ARE
I perched myself upon a weathered rock. My footprints left tattoos in the sand. The wind was
etherized in the sky. The sun smoldered in silence. Centered in a quiet oasis, the blue beast howled.
It stretched out before me like the land was coated in oil paints: cerulean and cyan, electric and
Egyptian, teal and turquoise.
The moment that I stood before this righteous beast was captured and bottled up in my beloved
father s camera.
This flimsy piece of paper is a portal. It is a portal to a girl who left her worries at the shore, on that
smooth and cold rock. Who left the marks of her bare feet across the velvety sands. Who
embraced the ocean like it was a bed of sapphire, silk sheets. Who let the frigid ... Show more

Under stacks of photographs of my birth, my sister s birth, and my father s birth, an image of a
little girl, perched on a smooth and cold rock, lay. It was out of place among our birth photos and I
pulled it out to put it among the vacation pictures. A hazy smile tugged at my lips.
I remembered her. A wild girl from the sea, with stormy eyes and seaweed hair. I remembered her
untamed rage and her indestructible heart. My insides squirmed at the memory, at the girl whose
bones snapped and whose blood boiled and whose skin tore. They squirmed at the thought of who I
d become, a blue light locked under a bell jar.
My squirming turned to fidgeting and kicking and screaming and roaring and tearing and red
radical rage. I burned with my regret as fuel. I tore up the fragile skin that held me captive.
My mother and father have sat me down and told me that I was born to put on latex gloves and
operate on the sick, or stand before a judge and make defend the innocent, or swear to protect the
citizens of my city with a gold lacquered badge and gun.
As I held that photograph in my polished fingers, I realized that my fate was not where I had
guessed. That I was not to live a tranquil life among the people who raised me.
I realized that I was meant to be before beasts with bare feet and wide eyes. That my place was
not in offices and cubicles, nor was it among the stars. My fate was entwined in the vines of the
jungle, in the fur of tigers, in the claws

Polytheism In Latin America
Spain and Portugal successfully colonized South America during the 15th century and as a result
exploited the land they conquered to their benefit. The Treaty of Tordesillas divided the region
between the two great powers and allowed them to do what they wished with the land they
controlled. Religious missionaries worked to convert the natives to the scripture of the Catholic
Church while simultaneously enslaving them and claiming their resources as their own. The
indigenous people were infuriated with the arrogance of their European conquerors and found
inspiration from the United Statesof America and the French to lead a revolution of their own. The
consequences of these series of uprisings and the basis for their desire to possess independence is
still being witnessed in modern day Mexico, through the Zapatistas. The Aztecs, Mayans, and Incas
were three prominent cultures in South America. Polytheism, human sacrifice, agriculture, and a

Application For A Management Job
In this case I am about to apply for a management job. One of the requirements for the job is that
I have to be proficient in CAD, but at the time of the application I m only taking classes for
CAD. So the question is, do I still apply knowing that I am not fully qualified for the job. To
answer this, we first need to weigh the facts. First I am more than qualified for the job besides the
slight fact that I am not yet proficient in CAD. So, what s the problem? Well it comes down to ethics
. In this situation the primary stakeholder is the company I am applying for, and that forces me
look at the situation and make a decision. I got two options one lie and say I am proficient in cad,
or tell the truth. I know it sounds like the answer is simple enough right? Just tell the truth right?
Well not necessarily. Even though I am not proficient in CAD, I am still much qualified for the
job. So I would still apply for the job, because I m in the class so I would be ready for the job once
I get it. I know the ethical thing to do is turn down the opportunity for the job, but the question is
what would I do. So that why I would choose to apply for the job. Case 2:

The Question Of Human Existence
The question of human existence is a lingering theme in modern philosophy. This controversial
inquiry has led philosophers on tangents about whether or not the mind is separable from the body.
RenГ© Descartes, often referred to as the father of modern philosophy, first questioned this idea.
The 17th century French philosopher stood out for being an intense rationalist. Rationalism is the
belief in knowledge by thinking reasonably, rather than emotionally. In a time when many
philosophers backed up their arguments with religion, Descartes trusted in nothing more than logic.
Due to rapid new discoveries in science, that were proving many old theories to be wrong,
Descartes believed philosophy needed a fresh start. This fresh start would... Show more content on

Descartes decides to try to build his foundation on this notion of ridding himself of bias opinions
and allowing himself to fall into a whirlpool of doubt. He receives this idea by reminiscing on
past beliefs that he once believed were right, but are now proven to be wrong. For example,
children believe in Santa Claus, but later find out that he is not real. Descartes goal was to find
something he could deem as undoubtedly true. To do this, he set up three ways to doubt that
will help discover if we indeed exist. On his quest for certainty around the question as to whether
we exist, Descartes began by observing that our human senses are deeply unreliable. He begins
by stating, Surely whatever I had admitted until now as most true I received either from the
senses or through the senses (60). He then goes on to say, However, I have noticed that the
senses are sometimes deceptive; and it is a mark of prudence never to place our complete trust in
those who have deceived us even once (60). His aim in this argument is to show that our
knowledge through the senses is open to doubt because in the past our senses have fooled us.
Descartes, living in the time of booming modern science, observed that our senses have been wrong
countless of times. For example, many believed that the earth was flat due to our sense of sight.
One could not see past the horizon, therefore the earth must be level with our eyesight. Science then
proved this

The poem Carrickfergus was written by an Irish writer called Louis
MacNeice in The 20th Century. It was written in four line stanzas and now I am going to analyse
this poem and talk about each stanza.
In the first line of the first stanza, we notice that the child Louis
MacNeice is using specific detail in his poem as he says he was born in Belfast between the
mountain and the gantries. MacNeice was brought up among a lot of divisions and when there was
a lot of trouble going on, he mentions divisions in his second stanza when he says, The

In the next stanza MacNeice says that the church is to the blame for all the wrongs going on, I
assume he says this because he doesn t like the church but I believe he genuinely doesn t think the
church is too blame. All throughout this poem, MacNeice mentions the
Normans various times; I think that he is emphasizing his knowledge of
Irish history. MacNeice also tells us that his father was a rector and he was banned forever from
the candles of the Irish poor; again he is showing divisions by saying the Irish are poor. In this
same stanza he talks about the Chichesters who are a rich Irish family.
The war then starts and Louis uses sensory images; sight and sound.
The sight images he uses are the horse with long Dummies hanging from gibbets for bayonet
practice, and the sound images he uses is sentry s challenge echoing all day long. These images
make the poem more realistic. He then goes on and states that a Yorkshire terrier ran to the gate
lodge, marched at ease and sang, Who killed Cock Robin ? The troops then went out to the lodge
and off to the front, the information he is giving us here isn t too significant but it does give us an

is vital that Diane s best interests are always on the foreground; her own priorities and her own
desires will lead our assessment into future interventions. We are able to take apart the above
question in four steps in order ascertain why this is a valid goal to attain for Diane.
First, it is important to assess Diane s overall unmet needs. In understanding one s unmet needs, we
are able to assist Diane in engaging in her own interactions and activities in her daily life
(Beukelman Mirenda, 2013, p. 8). Research has shown that children and young adults with cerebral
palsy are at risk for having a high amount of unmet needs, especially in relation to health care
(Jackson, Krishnaswami, McPheeters, 2011; Nieuwenhuijse et al., 2007). As health care
professionals, we need to be aware of Diane s unmet needs in order to identify her own personal
goals and skills in order to plan an accurate model of intervention.
Second, it is necessary to understand Diane s current mode of communication. Beukelman and
Mirenda (2013) remind that It is important to remember that everyone

The Historical And Contemporary Importance Of Francis Of...
The most popular saint in history, Francis of Assisi s life is shrouded in as much legend as it is
fact. However, the influence of Francis or the monastic order he founded cannot be disputed. Born
into great wealth and influence during the Middle Ages, Francis turned down such comforts
instead taking up a life of poverty and ministry. In less than two decades of ministry, Francis was
able to leave a legacy that continues to influence the Church today. The following will show the
historical and contemporary importance of Francis of Assisiby examining his unique life, his
founding of the FranciscanOrder and his ongoing influence in the life of the Church. Saint Francis
of Assisiwas born Giovanni Bernardone around 1182 in Assisi, Italy to Peter (Pietro)
Bernardone, a wealthy Italian cloth merchant, and his wife Pica. When Francis was born Peter
was away in France on business and his mother baptized him as Giovanni. Upon his return, Peter
gave Giovanni the name Francesco (Francis). Francis received some limited formal education,
but this was supplemented with practical education received while accompanying his father on
his many business journeys. Francis lived the typical life of a wealthy young man and aspired to
be a knight. He was quite the character and always desired to rise about the common place. A
major turning point began in his life when in 1202, he joined a military expedition against Perugia.
The forces from Assisi were defeated during which he was

Aluminum Vs Zinc
Table 1 contains corresponding information to figure 1, as already analyzed, despite having the
highest concentrated acid solution, zinc has the lowest output of gas compared to aluminum and
magnesium. Looking at the trends, aluminum and magnesium have relatively steady increases of
mass and corresponding volume (the amount of gas about doubles as the mass is increased by
about 0.02 grams). Zinc, on the other hand, increases by almost triple when the mass is tripled, but
levels off after and slowly increases in gas production, but is nowhere near magnesium and
aluminum. Magnesium and aluminum are much more reactive than zinc in this reaction; the
reactivity of both metals can be deducted from their chemical properties on the periodic table;

Kays about his diagnosis, prognosis, and treatment alternatives including both nonoperative and
operative treatments. He firmly states a desire to proceed with surgical intervention in the form
of knee arthroscopy with meniscal repair versus excision. It is discussed with the patient that
meniscal repair would have a high likelihood of failure given our unknown time since the
actually injury. It could have been several years, given his vague descriptions and his overall
heath and comorbidities. Therefore, excision of the meniscal fragment was discussed at length
with specific risks, benefits and expected post operative course. The patient states and
understand and a desire to proceed. Given that he would like to proceed as quickly as possible,
he wants to be seen next week for presurgical evaluation with surgery to be completed early next
week rather than waiting two to three weeks until I was available again. This is understandable
and arrangements have been made. The patient will be seen back on Monday morning for
evaluation for surgical care. More recommendations will follow as the patient s clinical course

Q
The greatness of Alexander III, as he was originally, has been disputed in the past. His legend has
survived for thousands of years, and his name is well known, but just how great was he? In
answering this question it is necessary to define the terms deserve and great . For these purposes, to
deserve will mean to be worthy of. Great has many meanings, and will be defined as: important;
grand; distinguished; remarkable in ability or character; competent; or above what is normal, with
implied admiration. Alexander, son of Philip, the king of the Macedonians, was more than most
men. His achievements were admirable, and his success brilliant. His accomplishments were grand,

Alexander had remarkable ability, and so was great in many different ways. On top of doing
great things, Alexander was a great leader, and a political and military genius. His goal to
conquer Persia was one that he would let nothing stand in the way of. As leader of his troops, he
suffered their same wounds, being one of the last great leaders to personally take the risk of
death in battle. Alexander listened to every man he had, and so became very close to his men.
Some argue his ability in motivating and inspiring his men was in fact the greatest ever seen,
half defeating the opposition in nerves before a battle began. He was also remarkable with
military tactics, employing strategies still used today. As the Encarta Encyclopedia put it:
Alexander was one of the greatest generals of all time, noted for his brilliance as a tactician and
troop leader and for the rapidity with which he could traverse great expanses... He succeeded
politically as well, earning respect from many people. Alexander s charisma and adoption of
Persian customs gave him strong loyalty needed in order to control his massive empire. However,
the greatness in his work here is questionable: often he used brutal force, sometimes killing
thousands of civilians, or selling them into slavery. But overall, Alexander must be seen as great
man in terms of a leader and a military commander. There is one major area of Alexander where
heated debates often occur: his character and

The Life and Work of John Calvin and Galileo Galilei Essay
John Calvin was born July 10th, 1509, in Noyon, Picardy. He was raised up in a staunch Roman
Catholic family. Early in his life, Calvin s father was employed by the local bishop as an
administrator at the town s cathedral. With this newly acquired job, John Calvin s father wanted
Calvin to be a priest. Due to the fact that his family had close ties with the bishop and his noble
family, Calvin s classmates in Noyon were aristocratic and culturally influential in his childhood. At
the age of fourteen, Calvin set off for Paris to study at the College de Marche. This helped him
prepare for university study. At the College de Marche, he studied seven subjects: grammar,
rhetoric, logic, arithmetic, geometry, astronomy, and music. Towards the

A year later, Calvin ran away from Paris. Reason being, his friends wrote papers and gave lectures
opposing the Roman Catholic Church, which frightened Calvin. For the next three or so years, John
Calvin lived in several places outside of France. This included him using a dozen or so names;
changing it from place to place he traveled. He traveled alone, studying by himself, preaching,
and beginning work on the Institutes of the Christian Religion, which turned out to be an instant
best seller. By 1536, he had stopped work in the Roman Catholic Church, and made plans to
leave France for good. He planned on leaving France and heading over to Strasbourg. However, due
to the war between Francis I and Charles V, Calvin decided to make a detour to Geneva. Calvin was
a huge success in Geneva. Farel, a reformer, invited him to stay in Geneva. Farel also threatened
Calvin s life with God s anger if he chose not to stay. After deciding to stay in Geneva, thus began
a long relationship with the city. Due to theological conflicts, Calvin was asked to leave the city,
where he began as a lecturer and preacher. In 1538, he left the city of Geneva, and headed off for
Strasbourg. In 1541, Calvin, who was now working as a pastor to French refugees, was requested
to come back to Geneva by the Council of Geneva. So, in 1541, Calvin returned to Geneva. He
remained in Geneva until his death on May 27th, 1564. Those last several years were plentiful with

Critics frequently use the term tar sands, whereas industry and governments lean more towards the
oil sands. This is a result of the nuances associated with the word tar as being something that is
dirty or less valuable than oil and more importantly, the abandonment of the word tar sands comes
from an insistent and well funded strategy to frame oil in a positive light to increase profits for the
big oil companies and provincial governments involved. With the adoption of the oil sands into the
everyday vernacular, the tar sands controversial and threatening characteristics become more and
more hidden. The power to (re)name thus:
embodies the power to reconstruct: to generate a sense of unity of purpose and identity and to
maintain consent for processes that might otherwise be called into question. Oil the symbolic
embodiment of the industrial age, of power and modernity portrays Alberta in a far more positive
light, than tar (42 CHALLENGING LEGITIMACY).
Alberta s oil sands have been fuelling the Canadian economy since their discovery and are easily
one of the largest industrial projects in human history covering an area larger than the state of
Florida (Government of Alberta, 2009). Second to Saudi Arabia, Alberta holds the largest amount
of proven oil resources in the world (Hasse 2012, p.382). This area

Use Of Tone In D. H. Lawrence s The Scarlet Letter
D.H. Lawrence, an English novelist and playwright, criticizes Nathaniel Hawthorne s
characterization of his protagonist, Hester Prynne, in his novel Scarlet Letter. Lawrence uses direct
syntax, a critical tone and relative allusions to convince his readers that Nathaniel Hawthorne was
wrong in idolizing his character, Hester Prynne. Lawrence employs direct, choppy syntax that
quickly pierces Hawthorne s noble image of Hester before the next aspersion is thrown. He uses
this quick paced style of syntax to maintain the interest of the reader while building up a strong
argument to support his thesis. His harsh remarks are thrown together to increase the impact of
his words and mock Hester, The fiery heart. A. Mary of the bleeding heart. Mater Adolerata! A.
Capital A. Adulteress! Glittering with gold thread. Abel! Adultery. Admirable! (Lawrence 24). He
combines the phrases fiery heart and admirable with his own phrases like adulteress and abel .

of her sin. Lawrence mocks the shallow goals of a woman, To seduce a man. To have everybody

of Dimmesdale, calling him a saint and repeatedly referring to him as pure. Lawrence uses his

1. Overview Of The Theology Of The Pentateuch.. Theology
1. Overview of the Theology of the Pentateuch.
Theology is the study of God, and further the Theology of the Pentateuch is defined as what is the
Pentateuch teaching us about God today. The Pentateuch is another name for the Torah, which
consists of the first five books of the Biblical canon. Studying the theological vision contained
within the Pentateuch is crucial to scholars since it is this vision that shapes the principal form of
this work. Further, the foundation for the theology of God is set forth in the rest of the Bible. One
can read numerous intricate, complex stories as concern our Creator, however there is not one
contradiction in respect to his attributes that can be found. It is owing to the fact that this is a solid

These are promises that God secured between himself and his people. For example, Genesis one
uncovers a covenant with Adam and continues further with covenants with Noah, Abraham, Moses,
Israel and a renewal with the new generation of God s chosen people in Deuteronomy. Moreover,
each of these covenants has it s own character and scope; and each prepares for and provides the
found for, the next . Alexander and Baker hold fast in agreement and proceed to say, Yet the faith
and varied responses of the ancestors and Israelites are best grasped in relation to covenant making,
covenant breaking and renewals of covenant . The narrative of the Pentateuch has a progressive
nature, as do the covenants made between people and God.
2. Theology of the Pentateuch in Genesis.
2.1 Character of God, Humanity, and Covenant Relationship in Genesis.
The book of Genesis presents the reader with a relational God. In particular, Genesis focuses on
the relationship between God and man and thus Genesis does not present a static theology of God
s involvement with humanity, but regardless of his mode of engagement, God is present and
active . However, the sin of man arrived into the world and these relationships were fractured.
Again, God exhibits judgment, but also mercy when in Genesis three He sends Adam and Eve out
of the Garden for their transgression, yet provides clothes as an act of grace.
The main Biblical idea behind a covenant means a

I believe Iraqwas once self sufficient because of its Dictator however a great threat to the world. The more proper term used to describe these compounds in regards to Carbon compounds would be Graphenes. (22) The Buckminster Fullerene was first discovered in 1985 by scientists Harold Kroto, Rickard Smalley and Robert Curl. (1) They were able to discover that when Graphite is vaporized by a laser, a variety of large Carbon cluster compounds were formed, the C60 compound or Buckminster Fullerene, being the most abundant. (1) The other Fullerenes found were C28 C32, C44 and C78. The C60 compound was named after Buckminster Fuller, as he was responsible for the creation of many geodesic domes, which resemble ... Dufei, Extraction of C60 cluster ion beam, Review of Scientific Instruments, 65, 1405 1407 (1994). Due to the cage like structure formed during the synthesis of the Fullerene, the compound is able to trap small molecules of the inert gas within the structure. The general formula used to represent a gas enclosed within the structure of the Fullerene is nX@C60, where n is the number of trapped atoms and X represents the trapped gas. (1) The interior diameter of the C60 compound is 7.09Г…, which is large enough to trap a variety of the noble gases including Helium, Neon, Argon, Krypton and Xenon. (##) In addition to trapping gases, the Fullerenes are also able to hold metal ions within the structure. Since the C60 compounds have a high electron affinity, they can readily accept electrons from alkali metals. The compounds that are formed from the enclosure of metal ions are known as Endohedral Metallofullerenes. • 5. Utility Ratios And Moral Decision Chapter 4: Utility ratios and moral decision Chapter 4 will analyse the effect of changing the number of people to be saved. It will be examined if reducing the number of people to be saved, from five down to two, has an effect on moral decision making. The aim of this chapter is to see the effect of utility ratios on moral dilemma decision making. It will be asked what will a lower utility mean in terms of sacrifice. It is expected for the purpose of this study that changes in the number of people to be saved can make a difference in moral decision making. Studies have examined the issue with different numbers of people to be saved. There were also further analyses if it made a difference if the people to be saved were older or younger, or a relative or a friend. Moral values, rules, and virtues provide the framework for morally acceptable decisions, without necessarily saying how these decisions can be reached. Nevertheless, moral theories do assume that we are capable of making the right moral decisions. Thus, an empirical analysis of the methods and resources used for moral decision making becomes important. Theoretical parallels of economic decision theory and moral utilitarianism suggest that moral decision making can actually use mechanisms and processes that were originally developed for non moral decision making. For example, the computation of a reward value is done through the combination of probability and magnitude and similar computation may also be ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Total Hip Arthroplasty Essay During the weeks of February 7 through February 17, I observed a total hip arthroplasty on a 56 year old Caucasian female patient who suffered from a femoral neck fracture and damage to the acetabulum. The fracture was a result from a car accident where the patient s knees collided with the dashboard, forcing the femur into the hipand breaking the femur. For this report I will concentrate on total hip replacement, its components, main surgical technique, and complications. Sir John Charnleyfirst developed total joint arthroplasty in the 1960s (Skinner 395). In a total hip replacement the articular surfaces of the acetabulum and femoral head are replaced (Lemone 1241). The inner surface of the acetabular component then locks the UHMWPE to limit rotation and dissociation (Skinner 399). There are two crucial factors when choosing the implants. First, if the prosthesis is too stiff then the patient may suffer from proximal osteopenia. Second, the stiffer the prosthesis is the more likely the patient will experience pain in the thigh. To avoid these two factors the surgeon should elect to use titanium ally instead of the cobalt chromium alloy. There are several surgical techniques used for total hip replacement, including the posterolateral approach, the lateral approach, the anterolateral approach, and others. For this paper I will concentrate on the posterolateral approach since it is the most common (Skinner 396). The patient is put into the lateral decubitus position with the affected side superior after anesthesia is administered and a compression stocking is placed on the unaffected limb. The skin is covered with an adhesive drape after the incision is outlined (Skinner 396). The Government Of The United States Government The United States government was created by the founding fathers to allow men to be free, but to also have a governmental system that protects that freedom as well. The United States government is problematic. It goes above and beyond the necessity and, because of this, is dysfunctional at best. The government today has gone beyond protecting the rights of American citizens. It has become a large entity that is wholly useless. The government of the United States is too large, therefore, this creates many problems with things like governmental overreach and extreme inefficiency. A smaller government would be more functional and could return to a more efficient, and likely constitutional basis of existence. It may be difficult to move to a smaller government if the United States cannot figure out a good way to do this. The size of the government has made it to be inefficient for almost everyone to use. Unless one has insider knowledge, they must stand at the back of a seemingly stagnant line to do simple tasks like applying for permits. Some of this inefficiency is the result of errors made by the government which then create more complications to fix. According to the Government Accountability Office ( GAO ), the United States government spends about 45 billion dollars a year on federal programs that are redundant (Ehley 2014). For a government that is about 18 trillion dollars in debt, that is an enormous amount of wasted money. The GAO defines the federal programs as ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 22. Impressionism Vs Impressionism In Art Throughout the course, we have learned about different types of modern works. The beauty of learning the history behind them is to better understand how from one form of painting grows from the other. In this case, impressionist and symbolist works have followed each other in terms of popularity and yet have extremely different aesthetics. Using the paintings, Dance at Le moulin de la Galette (Bal du moulin de la Galette) by Pierre Auguste Renoir and The Eye like a Strange Balloon Mounts toward Infinity (L Е’il, comme un ballon bizarre se dirige vers l infini) 1882 by Odilon Redon I will explain and describe the differences between the two aesthetics and how they are used in each work of art. Impressionism emerged in France during the late half of the 19th century and could be considered one of the first distinctly modern movement in painting. It was often rejected by many scholars for they believed it lacked a certain high quality or polished look that was seen in works of art in the past. The idea of Impressionism was for the artist to paint in the moment, to capture the sensory effect of the scene and in order to create this affect Impressionists moved from the studio to the streets painting in what is known as, en plein air. In order to create this aesthetic Impressionist worked with loose brushstrokes and lightened their palattes to achieve pure and intense colors. Traditional linear perspective was thrown out as well as clarity of form and the idea that ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Revista Academie ForTelor Terestre. 1( 61): 75 82. Globalization has brought the world closer in communication, economics, politics, and especially business. The Internet and technological improvements have allowed instantaneous communication almost anywhere, and even poor women in India are using Smartphones to manage their banking portfolios. The idea of globalism continues to break down cultural barriers. As this continues it will be essential for organizations to not only understand, but embrace cultural differences and styles (Trebing and Estabrooks, 2005). Clearly, the changing demands of global stakeholders require new ways of approaching divergent customer bases. There are differences in style, skill, education and attitude in every organization now accentuated when we think of the multi national organization. Correctly managed, this diversity can be a huge bonus to the organization. Organizations are far more effective once they understand and use diversity within their strategic and tactical planning process. Also, the new paradigm for global management includes creating and maintaining a diverse work environment in which cultural diversity is encourage and celebrated, rather than simply acknowledged (We need to identify and understand how our differences impact our relationships with other employees and customers. Changв€ —, Kaihua Zhu, Hao Wang, Hongjie Bai, Jian Li, Zhihuan Qiu, Hang Cui Google Research, Beijing, China Abstract Support Vector Machines (SVMs) suffer from a widely recognized scalability problem in both memory use and computational time. To improve scalability, we have developed a parallel SVM algorithm (PSVM), which reduces memory use through performing a row based, approximate matrix factorization, and which loads only essential data to each machine to perform parallel computation. Let n denote the number of training instances, p the reduced matrix dimension after factorization (p is significantly smaller than n), and m the number of machines. PSVM reduces the memory requirement from O(n2) to O(np/m), and improves computation time to O(np2/m). Empirical study shows PSVM to be effective. PSVM Open Source is available for download at http://code.google.com/p/psvm/. 1 Introduction Let us examine the resource bottlenecks of SVMs in a binary classification setting to explain our proposed solution. Given a set of training data X = {(xi, yi)|xi в€€ Rd}ni=1, where xi is an obser vation vector, yi в€€ {в€’1,1} is the class label of xi, and n is the size of X, we apply SVMs on X to train a binary classifier. SVMs aim to search a hyperplane in the Reproducing Kernel Hilbert Space (RKHS) that maximizes the margin between the two classes of data in X with the smallest train ing error (Vapnik, 1995). The Dallas Museum of art is one of the largest art museums in the United States of America containing more than 24,000 collections of art ranging from the ancient to the modern ones (MacDonald Brettell 112). There are numerous things inside the museum, such as the pieces of art, museum visitors, and the architecture, that relate to the understanding of the world outside the museum in terms of the day to day life and the human society. My goal in this essay is to think outside the box and describe the observations I made inside the museum and explain how they relate to my everyday life, the wider world, or the human society. The painting work done by C. Bertram Hartman was the first piece of art I observed inside the Dallas Museum. This painting, completed in 1930, consists of a campanile type tower, most likely a representation of a historic skyscraper (Walker 73). The painting applies a fractured perspective blended on an urban look with muted color palettes accompanied by harsh shadows (MacDonald Brettell 117). The painting is a reflection of the dynamism and energetic expansion of the current New York City. My insides squirmed at the memory, at the girl whose bones snapped and whose blood boiled and whose skin tore. They squirmed at the thought of who I d become, a blue light locked under a bell jar. The Treaty of Tordesillas divided the region between the two great powers and allowed them to do what they wished with the land they controlled. Religious missionaries worked to convert the natives to the scripture of the Catholic Church while simultaneously enslaving them and claiming their resources as their own. The indigenous people were infuriated with the arrogance of their European conquerors and found inspiration from the United Statesof America and the French to lead a revolution of their own. In this situation the primary stakeholder is the company I am applying for, and that forces me look at the situation and make a decision. This controversial inquiry has led philosophers on tangents about whether or not the mind is separable from the body. RenГ© Descartes, often referred to as the father of modern philosophy, first questioned this idea. The 17th century French philosopher stood out for being an intense rationalist. Rationalism is the belief in knowledge by thinking reasonably, rather than emotionally. In a time when many philosophers backed up their arguments with religion, Descartes trusted in nothing more than logic. Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Descartes decides to try to build his foundation on this notion of ridding himself of bias opinions and allowing himself to fall into a whirlpool of doubt. He receives this idea by reminiscing on past beliefs that he once believed were right, but are now proven to be wrong. For example, children believe in Santa Claus, but later find out that he is not real. Descartes goal was to find something he could deem as undoubtedly true. To do this, he set up three ways to doubt that will help discover if we indeed exist. On his quest for certainty around the question as to whether we exist, Descartes began by observing that our human senses are deeply unreliable. He begins by stating, Surely whatever I had admitted until now as most true I received either from the senses or through the senses (60). He then goes on to say, However, I have noticed that the senses are sometimes deceptive; and it is a mark of prudence never to place our complete trust in those who have deceived us even once (60). His aim in this argument is to show that our knowledge through the senses is open to doubt because in the past our senses have fooled us. Descartes, living in the time of booming modern science, observed that our senses have been wrong countless of times. For example, many believed that the earth was flat due to our sense of sight. One could not see past the horizon, therefore the earth must be level with our eyesight. Science then proved this ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

MacNeice also tells us that his father was a rector and he was banned forever from the candles of the Irish poor; again he is showing divisions by saying the Irish are poor. In this same stanza he talks about the Chichesters who are a rich Irish family. The war then starts and Louis uses sensory images; sight and sound. The sight images he uses are the horse with long Dummies hanging from gibbets for bayonet practice, and the sound images he uses is sentry s challenge echoing all day long. These images make the poem more realistic. He then goes on and states that a Yorkshire terrier ran to the gate lodge, marched at ease and sang, Who killed Cock Robin ? It is vital that Diane s best interests are always on the foreground; her own priorities and her own desires will lead our assessment into future interventions. We are able to take apart the above question in four steps in order ascertain why this is a valid goal to attain for Diane. First, it is important to assess Diane s overall unmet needs. Alexander had remarkable ability, and so was great in many different ways. On top of doing great things, Alexander was a great leader, and a political and military genius. His goal to conquer Persia was one that he would let nothing stand in the way of. As leader of his troops, he suffered their same wounds, being one of the last great leaders to personally take the risk of death in battle. Alexander listened to every man he had, and so became very close to his men. Some argue his ability in motivating and inspiring his men was in fact the greatest ever seen, half defeating the opposition in nerves before a battle began. He was also remarkable with military tactics, employing strategies still used today. As the Encarta Encyclopedia put it: Alexander was one of the greatest generals of all time, noted for his brilliance as a tactician and troop leader and for the rapidity with which he could traverse great expanses... He succeeded politically as well, earning respect from many people. Alexander s charisma and adoption of Persian customs gave him strong loyalty needed in order to control his massive empire. However, the greatness in his work here is questionable: often he used brutal force, sometimes killing thousands of civilians, or selling them into slavery. But overall, Alexander must be seen as great man in terms of a leader and a military commander. There is one major area of Alexander where heated debates often occur: his character and ... • 51. Use Of Tone In D. H. Lawrence s The Scarlet Letter D.H. Lawrence, an English novelist and playwright, criticizes Nathaniel Hawthorne s characterization of his protagonist, Hester Prynne, in his novel Scarlet Letter. Lawrence uses direct syntax, a critical tone and relative allusions to convince his readers that Nathaniel Hawthorne was wrong in idolizing his character, Hester Prynne. Lawrence employs direct, choppy syntax that quickly pierces Hawthorne s noble image of Hester before the next aspersion is thrown.
