Rasputin Was An Infamous Siberian Holy Man
Grigori Yefimovich Rasputin was an infamous Siberian holy man , whose ability to cure the
Tsar and Tsarina s son of haemophilia led to him becoming an important friend and spiritual
advisor to the Romanov royal family (Duffy, 2009). Rasputin was a paradox, by day he was a
supreme mystic at court and at night he obtained a reputation as a notorious drunk and
philanderer (Rae Thompson, 2014). By 1916 Rasputin was viewed by many as a malevolent
puppeteer who infiltrated his way into the royal family, pulling the strings of the Tsar s wife and
manipulating the regime (Rae Thompson, 2014). While his influence and status may have been
overstated Rasputin became an obvious scapegoat for Russian aristocrats, liberals and nationalists,
synonymous with debauchery, lust and power his presence brought considerable shame and
discredit to the tsarist government (Moss, 2003). The dominant viewpoint that Rasputin was the
sole reason behind the decay of the Romanov reign is presented by Mikhail Rodzianko, Chairman
of the Duma, who stated that The appearance in [the royal] court of Grigory Rasputin, and the
influence he exercised there, mark the beginning of the decay of Russian society and the loss of
prestige for the throne and for the person of the Tsar himself . However, although Rasputin s
company played a significant role in the increasing unpopularity of the Imperial couple, he was
purely a symbol of Russian despotism and not a central character in the downfall of the Romanov

Review Of Dracula By Bram Stoker
Blood Lust The amount of crazed vampire stories within this world continuously grows despite the
amount of creativity that can go into the description, and characterization of said vampires being
quite limited. There would only be so many possibilities for scenes, situations, and character designs
if authors went by nothing more than the characteristics of the vampires in Bram Stokers Dracula.
Because of this, authors continue to create more and more ridiculous scenarios as well as more
and more advanced vampires. The comparison of the way vampires look, respond to
environmental stimuli, and act in social situations in books like Dracula or The Chronicles of
Vladimir Tod, as well as book series such as Blood Lad and Twilight, is quite drastic. Every vampire
in movies or novels essentially has the same cold body functions of the dead pale, chilled flesh,
lack of a heartbeat. Dracula had these characteristics, along with being clad in black... who is
clean shaven aside from a long, white moustache. Dracula lived in a Gothic era where he wore a
double breasted vest, white shirt, black slacks, fancy shoes, a pocket watch, and a fake smile on
his face. These kind looks, as well as his charisma, made people trust him more. In the novel, it is
written that ...The count s greeting is so warm that the Englishman s fears vanish. Modern
vampires, unlike Dracula, tend to typically look and act more like teenagers. They are clothed in
hooded sweaters, t shirts, and jeans.

Cross Cultural Communication Important For Businesses
In this report, I will justify, why is cross cultural communication important for businesses in the 21st
century. Cross cultural communication is a very important factor for businesses in these days
because of the rapid economic development hence globalisation.
Therefore, knowledge and understanding of a cultural diversity are a must especially for
businesses operated worldwide to correctly react to body language, symbols, gestures or situations
that can be easily misunderstood due to cultural differences and can lead to the unsuccessful
transactions, contracts or a business as a whole, for example, Americans or British use the gesture
thumb up to express that everything going well, while in Bangladesh it means rude or awful.
Living or doing a business in different country does not only mean knowing their food, music or
clothing, but mainly to understand their beliefs and values, as these are usually hidden deeply
beneath the surface, even though we may find some habits or beliefs in the different country s
culture to be same or very similar to ours.
In my opinion, it is very difficult to talk about cultural differences without making statements or
likelihood, hence generalisations, which can help to describe how people from one culture usually
behave and react in a particular situation. However, even though generalisation can help to learn
and understand different cultures around the world, it can lead to a negative stereotyping,
miscommunication and conflicts.

The United States Congress
Today, the United States Congress has two main purposes in our government; to create the laws
of the land and to represent the American people. But, the main reason for creating a congress in
the beginning was because of a growing outcry against British rule over the colonies. In 1774,
delegates from 12 of the 13 colonies met in Philadelphia for the First Continental Congress. The
announced purpose of the congress was to deliberate and determine on wise and proper measures
. . . for the restoration of union and harmony between Great Britain and America (Volkomer,
Walter E.. 2012). They sent a list of grievances to King George III, calling for repeal of the
Intolerable Acts a series of punitive laws passed by the British Parliament.... Show more content on

There are 100 Senators in the Senate and 435 Representatives in the House. Both chambers of
Congress meet in the Capitol building in Washington D.C. (Volkomer, Walter E.. 2012)
Members of the House of Representatives serve two year terms and are referred to as
congressman or congresswoman. During their two year term, they serve the people of a
specific congressional district or area. Their main duties are to introduce bills and resolutions,
serve on committees, and offer amendments. It s also important to note that the Constitution
states that any bill that raises revenue must originate in the House of Representatives. Members
of the Senate serve six year terms and are usually looked upon more as a representative of their
state rather than individuals. One thing the Senate has is the ability to block legislation coming
through by way of a filibuster. Generally speaking, though, the House and the Senate operate
mostly in the same capacity. The House is known to be a little faster paced and the Senate is
known to be a little slower and more deliberate. As stated earlier, the main role of Congress is to
create laws. The procedure for creating laws in America is fairly simple on the surface, but there
are a lot of layers that some people find confusing to follow. First a Senator or Representative
needs to have an idea for a new law. They then need to produce a rough draft of the idea and
sponsor it. This action turns the

Inquisitions In Octavia Butler s The Parable Of The Talents
Beginning in the 12th century, in the middle of the Medieval era, just centuries after the fall of the
greatest empire of classical history, the Roman Empire, with the invasion of religious frustration
swept across much of Europe. These various inquisitions caused a quake of fear for anyone that
was suspected of betraying the Catholic Churchand the Vatican. Though it was not just religious
heresy and other religious groups, it was also Pagans, Jews, Hindus, Muslims, Atheists,
Freethinkers, Philosophers, Humanists, and many others. Burning them at the stake, and accusing
them of heresy, sending them to trial, and inevitably their death. These various inquisitions of and
the protestant reformationwere known as one of humanities darkest events in history. People lived
in fear of accusation, death, and the ways of this era; the world was living in a shadow of fear,
thousands dying by knife, ax, and fire. Over the course of 500 years, religious conflict was really a
widespread issue and yet tolerated by many. There are many similarities between Octavia Butler s
book, The Parable of the Talents and the various inquisitions of human history, and through the
persecution and conversation, of religious groups, the religious chaos on this time, and how Lauren
s character is similar to other religious icons during these times there is evidence that Butler s novel
could be an inquisition.
One third of the entire population, being accused of heresy by the other two thirds and was lead

Dangers Of Deforestation
Why Deforestation Should Stop and How It Affects the Environment?
Today one of the biggest ecological problems is Deforestation. For instance, every year the
rainforests are slowly disappearing due to deforestation which is the permanent clearing of
earth s forests on a massive scale, often resulting in damage to the quality of the land in order to
make the land available for other uses. This can be done legally and illegally. There are many
reasons why trees are remove from a forest. Some of these reasons are to cover needs or to make a
profit. However, the biggest causes of deforestation are agricultural, logging operations and
growth of urban zones. Often, small farmers will clear a few acres by cutting down trees and
burning them in a process known as slash and burn agriculture. Some are caused by a
combination of human and natural factors like wildfires and subsequent overgrazing, which may
prevent the growth of young trees. Logging operations, which provide the world s wood and
paper products, also cut countless trees each year. Loggers, some of them acting illegally, also
build roads to access more remote forests which leads to further deforestation. Forests still cover
about 30 percent of the world s land area and extend throughout half the size of most countries but,
many are lost each year (Live Science).
Stopping deforestation can significantly address numerous challenges including the protection of
millions of animal and plant species, reducing global warming,

The Help (2011) is a drama set in the 1960s in Mississippi, United States, which successfully
positions audiences using various film techniques to convey the message that prejudice is a
destructive force that corrupts society. Three specific scenes will be analysed and evaluated,
focusing on aspects such as mise en scene, cinematography and post production. Tate Taylor and
Kathryn Stockett provide a detailed insight into the harsh lives of people showing three major
types of prejudice against black people, gender and class. Skeeter wishes to become a professional

In this scene a line of black maids are dressed in a monochrome uniform with solemn faces, this
signifies how insignificant they are in the white society. The black maids wore uniforms showing
their class status, symbolising where they belong in civilization while displaying they are on duty.
Post production used includes the voice over of Aibileen narrating her thoughts and what is
happening. The tone is dull and sad, emitting the perception that this period of time is daunting. The
word daunting contains negative connotations such as horrify and scare. A sharp d sound creates
the impression of words such as dangerous and deathly. A slight yellow tint in lighting emphasises
the dim effect, showing that the scene is darker than it seems, meaning that the maids are upset
about their predicament. However, they are obedient, in order to survive in white society, they
must accept the rules set out. Otherwise, they may face the consequences of losing their job which
helps provide funds for themselves and family, they would also risk not being able to find work
anywhere else. This scene shows the discrimination against black people and how downgraded they
were classed, meaning that their pay was limited. Therefore, with the combination of effective post
production sound and contrasting film techniques the producers effectively achieved their goal in
displaying how disrespected black people were seen in

Carolina Panthers Contract Analysis
The Carolina Panthers are set to offer 2012 ninth overall pick middle linebacker Luke Kuechly a
contract extension this year, according to ESPN. Kuechly is currently entering the final year of
his four year, $12.5 million rookie deal with the Panthers, which would earn him $2.1 million next

Analysis Of The Movie Brent Staples

It has been said, Judging a person does not define who they are...but defines who you are. Being
judged is discrimination toward a person s character. Discrimination is a practice to judge others
based on their person beliefs. There are many areas in which people are judge others such as

Merriam-Webster s Definition Of Confidence
Being confident, is one the most respectable character trait someone can have. Because having
confidence makes people able to fully accept themselves. Merriam Webster s definition of
confidence can mean one of two things depending on how it s used. The first definition of
confidence is a feeling or consciousness of one s powers or of reliance on one s circumstances.
Having confidencein someone is a big deal because it means putting trust in someone to carry
through with something. Putting too much confidence in someone because is that chance of
getting let down. Now the second definition from Merriam Webster s dictionary is a feeling or

Confidence is like a muscle: the more you use it, the stronger it gets . The reference to
confidence being a muscle suggests the more someone works on themselves can improve the
way they think and act. Having confidence can have a really positive impact on people s day to
day life, as well as their ability to achieve the things they want to do. The thing about confidence
is that there is no official measure of; if they feel confident then they probably are. People with no
confidence tend to be down on themselves and don t believe they can do anything right. Having no
confidence can make a person s life miserable. So the first time they gain confidence in themselves,
they become a better and stronger person. And once they have it no one can tell them any different
about themselves because they know what they are able to do. By someone honoring who they are
and what they truly prefer in life, it creates an environment of confidence. They re allowing
themselves to be comfortable and express themselves. In turn, they may attract the right people,
opportunities and more in life. When the right people and opportunities come along, it makes
people feel confident because things are easy. The origin of confidence comes from early 15th

The History of Cheerleading Essay
The history of cheerleading is connected to the development of sports in the United States and
crowd participation at athletic events. In 1869, the first American football college game took place
at Rutgers University against Princeton University in Piscataway, New Jersey. This was where
cheerleading initially began.
By the 1880s, the students at Princeton formed an all male student pep club to lead chants and yells
in order to support their team and create an exciting sports environment. To motivate their team,
people in the stands would yell encouragements such as Tiger, Tiger, Sis, Sis, Sis! and Princeton,

concept of cheer and pep club at ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Thanks to Campbell and his fellow yell leaders , Minnesota won the game 17 6 and cheerleading
was born. Based on their success, cheerleading continued to grow and develop over time. As
participation in cheerleading grew over time, new techniques and skills were added, until
cheerleading became what it is today. Meanwhile, the sport of Basketball invented in 1891, also
grew in popularity and became a major sport where cheerleading also continued to develop and
prosper over the next 100 years.
For the first 25 years cheer was a male only activity. In 1923, the first women cheerleaders were
introduced at the University of Minnesota at their sports games. They were only allowed to join
because they had very limited options when it came to sports.. They wore ankle length skirts and
varsity sweaters. Female cheer squads included skills such as gymnastics, dance, and stunting in
their routines. In the 1930s, cheerleaders used paper poms when cheering. The first vinyl pom
poms were made in 1965. Even though women participated in cheerleading in several parts of the
country, it wasn t until the 1940s when the male students left the country to fight in World War II
that women became the majority of cheerleading s athletes. Women took charge and led the crowd
in cheers and performed their own routines. Today, more than 90% of the world s cheerleaders are
female.

Affluenza- An unhappy relationship with money Essay
Affluenza An unhappy relationship with money
Causes Cures
In this essay I plan to analyze a dangerous disease that is infecting people through the U.S. This
disease is called affluenza it is very contagious and once infected with the disease it is difficult to
unseat. Affluenza us characterized as an unhealthy relationshipwith money, swollen expectations
and trying to keep up with the Joneses. Affluenza creates stress, bankruptcies, and causes problems
in relationships. Although, there are some people who have a different definition for affluenza.
Many people find affluenza to be a rich man s disease and have responded by suggesting that the
world has bigger problems without have to feel sorry for the rich. I would contend that ... Show

But, sadly enough many families get affluenza and it consumes them and the final product is
surely not The Waltons. An example of this is a women named Julie, 24, who filed for
bankruptcy last year when harassing phone calls from creditors and high monthly credit card
payments overwhelmed her. The mother of a 7 week old child, she erased more than $20,000 of
debt, most of which was run up by her affluenza infected former boyfriend who charged clothes
and took cash advances on her account. Even after filing for bankruptcy she has received three
offers for unsecured credit cards, (IIN, 1997). This is an illustration of how the blame does not
solely lye with the consumer. She tried to rid her self of affluenza but credit card companies
were attempted to give her more credit at the same time. This goes against a quote made by David
Sandor, a spokesman for Visa he stated, No bank card issuer wants a consumer to be over his head
or in bankruptcy. But, surely Visa and other companies have access to her credit report which states
her credit history, including current debt, and surely bankruptcy.
Materialism is also a symptom of this disease we call affluenza. What perpetuates materialism and
causes affluenza? This simple answer is marketers by uses an abundance of information that cannot
be avoided they condition consumers to buy. One example that supports this claim is a statistic, it
states by the age of 20, the average American will have

WEAKNESS
Weak performance of property and manufacturing divisions
Despite an increase of 7.7% in fiscal year 2006, the property division s revenues have been
volatile over the recent years. For the period 2003 2006, the division s CAGR was 6%, the
lowest among all the company s business divisions. Despite a 6% increase in revenues, the
manufacturing division s profit before tax declined 44% in fiscal 2006 over the previous year.
Weak performance of these divisions would affect the overall growth of the company.
Weak returns
Genting has recorded weak returns in the last few years. Its return on investments and return on
equity for trailing twelve months (TTM) December 2006 were 10.2% and 13.5%, respectively,
lower than the industry averages of 10.5% and 16.8% for the same period. Weak returns reflect the
inability of the management to deploy assets in profitable avenues, and this could result in
decreasing investor confidence.

Animal Revolution In Animal Farm
The novel Animal Farm by George Orwell is about animals that overthrow the owner and rule
the farm by themselves. The quote Revolutions have never lightened the burden of tyranny, they
have only shifted it to another shoulder refers to the animals disliking the ruling of Jones and
wanting to make a change in their lives and be independent. The animals were happy with this
change that resulted from the Revolution at first. However, it was later found that overthrowing
Jones didn t make the community better than before, and the actions that the animals disliked
when Jones ruled stayed the same. Also, the rules slowly changed in the pigs favor when they
became the leaders. The first reason why the Rebellion of the animals didn t lighten the burden
of Jones ruling is that the ruling of the pigs didn t make the community better and the specific
acts that the animals despised stayed the same when the animals overthrew Jones. For example,
the animals did not like that they had to do laborious work for the humans and that they were
killed without a reasonable cause. When Old Major announces his speech, he states, We are
born, we are given just so much food as will keep the breath in our bodies, and those of us who
are capable of it are forced to work the last atom of our strength; and at the very instant that our
usefulness has come to an end we are slaughtered with hideous cruelty (7). The animals are very

working with other people, and all the personality types that come with them, day in and day out is
a very challenging task. Every client will have a different need and different questions along with
them. A real estateagent must find ways to meet those needs as well as answer any questions.
This requires a real estate agent to take their knowledge as far as possible so they are ready for
absolutely anything that can be thrown their way. An agent must know the community, any

Research on the Communicative Skills of Dogs
We all learn from one another and wolves, like dogs, can learn from us as well. Dogs are more
skillful than great apes at a number of tasks in which they must read human communicative signals
like indicating the location of hidden food. However, the main objective of these studies was to
determine whether the skills that doghave today have arisen from the hundreds of years of
domestication and co evolution with humans, or if these were already in their genes from their wolf
ancestors (Bates 2013).
The modern wolf comes from a long history of canines, which have adapted to survive in many
different environments. They adapt their diet to the food that is available where younger wolves
watch and learn from the other members of the pack, a behavior commonly known as cultural
transmission. The alpha wolves order the others on where to go, when to hunt and where to make a
den. Wolves like dogs act upon orders.
Genetic and archaeological evidence shows that humans domesticated wolves on more than one
occasion. Domesticated wolves provided early humans with a guard animal, a source of food,
fur, and a beast of burden. The process continues to this day, with the intentional artificial
selection and crossbreeding of dogs to create new breeds. The objective of these studies was to
answer the question whether their roots were present before dogs became man s best friend or
not? Friederike Range and ZsГіfia VirГЎnyi of the Messerli Research Institute at the University of

Queen Elizabeth The Best Queen In European History
On September 7th, at Greenwich Palace in England, a young girl called, the illegitimate
daughter of King Henry VIII and Anne Boleyn was born. Her name was Elizabeth and she
would become one of the most significant English monarchs of all time. She lost her mother
when she was 2 and her father passed away when she was 13. She was persecuted for heresy by
her own sister and locked in the Tower. Her legacy lives on to this day and her bravery still strikes
the hearts and minds of Englishmen. Though her refusal to marry left her throne empty, Elizabeth I
was the best queen in European history because of her pragmatic nature, devotion to her people,
and her confidence in her beliefs.
Her pragmatic nature is one of the many reasons that Elizabeth is renowned all over the world.
When Elizabeth chose her council she chose a modern and balanced group of individuals, as she
did not want a council that was overly conservative, old fashioned, or rash (Neale 54). Her chief
advisor Sir William Cecil was equally pragmatic and together they created many clever policies,

of England was at risk and she wasted her time with suitors Elizabeth used her promise of
marriage as a powerful diplomatic tool and a bargaining piece whenever she needed the favor of
another country (Huso). Along with that Elizabeth had absolutely no interest in compromising her
power by adding a king to the mix, and she could not threaten the fragile peace that England had
created by marrying a person from another European

Market Structure of Oligopoly

Output And Profits
Market structure of oligopoly
Oligopoly is a market structure where there are a few firms producing all or most of the market
supply of a particular good or service and whose decisions about the industry s output can affect
competitors. Examples of oligopolistic structures are supermarket, banking industry and
pharmaceutical industry.
The characteristics of the oligopoly are:
В•Small number of large firms dominate the industry
В•High degree of interdependence: the behaviour of firms are affected by what they believe other
rivalry firms might do
В•High barriers to entry that restrict new firms to enter the industry e.g. ... Show more content on

Like monopoly, if the oligopoly is maintained in the long run, it charges a high price, produces less
output and fails to maximise social welfare relative to perfect competition.
Cartel is seen by the government as a means of driving up prices and profits which is against the
public interest. As a result it is illegal to operate the cartel in many countries.
Tacit collusion
Tacit Collusion is collusion that is not organized through a formal, open contract between
colluding parties. Tacit collusion is when firms abide to the price that has been set by a
recognized leader. The leader is usually the largest firm i.e. the firm that controls the industry
known as dominant firm price leadership. On the other hand, the leader may be the firm that is
most reliable to follow, known as barometric firm price leader.
Dominant firm price leadership
This is when smaller firm chooses the same price as the price set by the large firms in the industry.
Source: www.bized.ac.uk/educators/he/pearson/lectures
The leader tends to maximise profits where marginal revenue is equal to marginal the marginal
cost, then produces at QL and sell goods at PL on its demand curve where marginal cost equal
marginal revenue. At this stage other firms in the industry will follow the price. Therefore, the
market produces at Qt, with other firms producing the output not supplied by the leader i.e. Qt Ql.

Diesel Engines Vs. Modern Technology
Diesel engines, long reputed for being loud and dirty, are making waves in the U.S., says Alex
Davies of Business Insider. With the never ending evolution of modern technology, the diesel
engine has come a long way since its invention in the late 19th century. With new advancements in
technology, the diesel engineis no longer loud and dirty as it was in the past. In fact, with modern
advancements, diesel engines have come to possess many advantages over gasoline engines.
Modern diesel engines boast better attributes than their gasoline counterparts, such as greater
reliability, increased fuel efficiency, and superior performance.
When most people think of a diesel engine, they think of a semi truck or a tractor. People think
of something big and dirty when they hear the word diesel . Diesel engines have long been used
in heavy equipment, things like semi trucks, tractors, locomotives, and the like. But how about in
a car? What a crazy idea, right? Well, although this may seem crazy, it actually makes perfectly
good sense. Diesel engines have many advantages over a gasoline engine. Diesel engines are more
reliable than gasoline motors. Why are diesel engines more reliable? Diesel engines are built
heavier than gasoline engines. A diesel engine is a compression engine, so to handle the
compression experienced by the engine during ignition, the engine must be built heavier than a
typical gasoline engine. Diesel engines tend to last longer than gasoline engines as well.

Argumentative Essay On Legalizing Marijuana
Legalizing marijuana has been a controversial topic to discuss because of the many issues that it
brings up. Marijuana is currently legal in 29 states for recreational or medical use, that s 58% of
the states that allow it. Liberals believe that marijuana isn t harmful because no one has ever
overdosed or died from it. On the other side conservatives say that marijuana is dangerous for
someones health and increases the possibility of developing a mental illness. Although federally
legalizing marijuana would increase the use of illegal marijuana, marijuana should be federally
legalized because it will help out the economy, give money back to the community in a variety
of ways, it will cut the Mexican drug cartels profits, save police time and resources, be used for
medical purposes and would help out the major sports in the U.S.. Federally legalizing
marijuana will increase the use of illegal marijuana. In a CBNC report, they compared the
federal legalization of marijuana to the legalization of gambling and said that it will increase
illegal marijuana like it does with gambling. The government will be able to collect taxes from
marijuana, but some people won t want to pay which will result in an increase in illegal activity
to avoid paying taxes for marijuana. It happens already with gambling, where people do illegal
gambling, so what s not to say that it won t happen with marijuana. The economy will benefit from
the federal legalization of marijuana because it will provide

The New Meaning Of Airline Packing
The New Meaning to Airline Packing
Before 9/11 when Americans boarded an airplane, the only worry that crossed their minds could
have been hijackers holding the airplane, the crew, and the passengers for some kind of ransom,
or something going wrong with the airplane itself. After 9/11, we are now seeing a new kind of
hijacker; terrorists who use the airplanes themselves as weapons against the people they hate. They
run the airplanes into buildings to kill as many people they can with one attempt. This paper will

terrorists.

This act required airlines to use stronger materials in the construction of cock pit doors, heavier
locks, and video monitors for pilots to view what is happening in the cabin. Putting in wireless
devices for the flight crew to notify the cockpit of any problems. Just weeks after this act was
passed by Congress the airline Jet Blue had these requirements in every airplane they own. Putting
crew and passengers safety before their profit. This act also gave to the Under Secretary of
Transportation the job recruiting, training, and providing weapons for air marshals for each flight.
As an elite group, highly trained, the air marshals will set with the passengers and have the
advantage of knowing what is going on inside the cabin at all times.
Carol Hallett, head of the Airline Transportation Association said The wisest investment in
improving security is hiring more air marshals because they are highly trained to provide
professional protection. (Renna, 2003)
This protection is costing the airlines approximately $3,000 per air marshal, per flight. Requiring
two air marshals in each plane.
Part of the Aviation and Transportation Security Act gave the Under Secretary of Transportation
the job to recruit, train, and air pilots using similar training programs that were used for air
marshals. The program for the pilots is done on a volunteer basis program only. In

The Torus Shaped Vessel
2.3 Diverter Applications
The diverter is located at the bottom of the torus shaped vessel and is designed to extract heat
from the plasma as well as the exhaust fumes of the reaction occurring which are helium and any
impurities from the first wall of the reactor. The basic concept of a diverter used within a
tokamak design can be understood better by looking at figure x which is a diagram of JET after it
had a divertor fitted. The separatrix is the last field line which contains the plasma. The magnetic
field transports the plasma to the diverters at the bottom as shown where the heat energy strikes the
diverter target plates and conducted to pipes where it is then removed through either a water or
helium cooling system and the exhaust gases are extracted by a vacuum.
The diverter itself is made up of several components shown in figure x. The plasma facing
components are the two vertical targets and dome. A closer look at one of the vertical target in
figure x shows how the cooling system works with a pipe with cooling fluid flowing through it is
fitted through blocks of armour material which make up the targets.
Looking to the future as projects grow in size towards DEMO, which will be a functioning fusion
power plant, the demands on materials especially PFC s are going to increase. For ITER the
plasma facing components for the divertor are to be made of carbon fibre reinforced carbon

Yentl The Yeshiva Boy Essay
An adaptation of Isaac Singer s short story Yentl: The Yeshiva Boy, Yentl discusses the issue if
gender stereotyping imposed as religious and societal constructs as well as same sex relationships.
A transgender hero by contemporary standards, Yentl fights against the confines of her existence as
a Jewish femalein a patriarchal society. Yentl possesses masculine qualities, proven through her
ability to convincingly disguise herself as a man, evident during the prologue when she enters the
play as her male persona Anshel. From the opening scene the audience quickly learns that Yentl
finds her genderto be a curse because of the limitations it imposes upon her. Even her father, a
leading religious figure, seems to acknowledge that Yentl behaves more like a man than a woman

From my reading experience, Singer s presents Yentl s and Hadass marriage as a comedic
relationship although it also demonstrates the theme of the play. Hadass was originally betrothed to
Avigdor but because Avigdor s brother commits suicide, Hadass parents break off the arrangement.
Yentl decides to marry Hadass instead, and a loving relationship forms between Yentl and Hadass.
Only the audience/reader perceives the relationship Yentl has with Hadass and Avigdor to be
homosexual until Yentl reveals her identity. Hadass develops strong feelings for Yentl as Anshel,

Stock Analysis of Wal-Mart Inc.
The Wal Mart company was established on July 2, 1962 in Rogers, Arkansas (History Timeline).
The company was based on the vision of Sam Walton, who believed in giving his customers the
lowest prices, anytime, anywhere. By 1967 the Walton family owned 27 different stores, and in
1969 they officially incorporated, becoming Wal Mart Stores, Inc. Just a year later in 1970 Wal
Mart went National, proving the wide spread appeal of Sam Walton s beliefs (History). This
same year Wal Mart became a publicly traded company, with its first shares priced at 16.50. A
short year later the company was listed in The New York Stock Exchange (History Timeline).
The 80 s were a major success for this company. In 1983 the first Sams Club opened, this was and
still is a store that sells product in bulk to small businesses and individuals. In 1988 the first Wal
Mart Super center opened. The Super center combined a full scale supermarket with general
merchandise to create one stop shopping convenience (History). In 1992 the company suffered a
hard hit when Sam Walton passed away at the age of 74. Although they lost the man at the heart
of the company they were determined to carry on with his vision, and so they did. In 1996 they
opened their first stores in China (History Timeline). By 2002 they reach the top of the Fortune
500 ranking of Americas largest companies. In 2012 Wal Mart celebrated 50 successful years of
business. Today the company employs 2.2 million associates worldwide and serves

The Transportation And Grocery Gaps Of San Diego
Listening to Sierra s answer, this customer s plight embodies the interconnectivity of the
transportation and grocery gaps that San Diego suffers from within areas in need. Though luckier
than most to have his own means of private transportation, this one particular customer was
compelled to drive a great distance to provide healthy juice for himself, a product that he would
otherwise be unexposed to without his car. As Gottlieb and Joshi highlight in their book Food
Justice, the link between the two aforementioned gaps grow wider and wider, feeding off each
other and intensifying the imbalances already existing (48). Therefore, an overabundance of fast
foodfilled the gaps between the market and the domestic areas, looking to attract high volume of in
transit customers on busy roadways, pushing nutrient food options further and further from dense
urban population. As a result, fast foods are purchased to conserve time, gas, and other expenses
encountered to simply achieve a journey to the grocery store. Even those stores that are nearby lack
truly nutritious options, and heavily advocate for non healthy diets to become daily habits over the
wholesome alternative. Under those circumstances, local markets like Stehly Farms are far from
accessible to a great deal of the San Diegan population. In reality, this customer possesses fortunate
fundamentals such as knowledge, transportation, and free time to frequent such a wonderful market
and choose a healthier diet in short, he

The Economic Impact Botswana Has Faced Because Of Their...
A geographer investigates the economic impact Botswana has faced because of their diamond
industry. In this paper I will be discussing how Botswana has economically developed as well as
the struggles the country has faced due to the diamond industry. We will also dive into how
Botswana s geographic location affects the diamondindustry.
Botswana is a small country roughly the size of Texas with a population of 1.7 million
people(insert source). About four fifths of Botswana is desert; more specifically the Kalahari
Desert. This makes Botswana what geographer s call a sub Saharan, land locked country. As a
whole Botswana covers 224,607 square miles, yet contains only 1,444,000 people, making it one
the most thinly populated countries in Africa. The eastern portion is where most people reside,
because the Kalahari Desert covers almost all the rest of the nation. Botswana s climate is a
semiarid one, consisting of very hot summers, and warm winters. Flat and rolling land makes up
the topography of Botswana, with the Kalahari in the southwest. To the right is a well displayed
picture of Botswana s topography.
In a Times Magazine article A Diamond in the Rough by Scott Beaulier in 2010. Beaulier stated,
Many economists believe in the geography hypothesis, which states that countries that are northern
and near water will prosper, while those that are southern and land locked will most likely struggle.
Botswana broke the mold on this. Botswana is both a southern and land

American Samurai Chapter Summaries
Cameron, C. M. (2002). American samurai: myth, and imagination in the conduct of battle in
the First Marine Division, 1941 1951. Cambridge: Cambridge University Press. The samurai
were a warrior class in feudal Japan who served the lords of clans in Japanese feudal society.
They were highly respected elite warriors in both grand military strategy and individual martial
arts. The warrior code that they embodied and the myth of the samurai warrior are still alive in
modern Japan today. In his book American Samurai: Myth and Imagination in the Conduct of
Battle in the First Marine Division 1941 1951, Craig Cameron draws parallels between the United
States Marine Corps and the feudal Japanese samurai. Writing from a post Vietnam view, Cameron

This disassociation allows for the whole sale slaughter of people with moral justification. The
unforeseen byproduct of this disassociation, as Cameron points out, can be seen in the 1950 s
and 1960 s, when many veterans consigned their wives to the kitchen. The intended product of
this disassociation, however, was to kill Japanese soldiers. The Marines would reap the benefits
of this first in the Guadalcanal campaign of 1942. With the U.S. Marines of First Division
engaged in a life or death struggle against their Japanese opponents, the cartoonish portraits of
four eyed, slow Japanese soldiers burned into the American Marine s mind kept them from
thinking about the enemy as men who are carrying pictures of their families eerily similar to the
pictures that were carried by Americans. Using the invasion of Peleliu as a backdrop for his
analysis, Cameron expands upon his analysis of the individual Marine to the collective thought of
the organization. The U.S. Marine self image caused Marine units on Peleliu to charge head first
into the waiting Japanese defense with foolhardy, head on assaults which they stubbornly pressed.
The Marine Corps, even through their hyper masculine indoctrination, had not prepared their
Marines any better than their U.S. Army counterparts on the island. Before Peleliu, the perception
of combat had been that of a clean affair due to the romanticized images of World War I. After, due

quot;A Doll s House quot; Essay
The suppressed position of women was blatantly highlighted in Henrik Isbens play titled A Doll s
House The dehumanization weathered by Nora, the dependence she felt, along with lack of
adequate experience and education all played a part in Isbens story as if it were exact
representations of society just beyond the doll house walls. As the reality of Nora s predicament
was raised to the surface her inability to manage herself is seemingly what leads her down the path
to her own independence. It is through the disillusionment that Nora undeniably felt towards her
husband Torvald and the world that she finally comprehends her unmitigated state of repression.
Nora clearly represents the doll of the house and Torvald s... Show more content on Helpwriting.net

This further reduces her as an individual. Torvald employs a nursemaid to care for their children
and this custom appears to be commonplace among the elite in that time.
Nora was completely dependent on Torvald and he adored that fact. He noted that her
dependence on him made her more alluring; she becomes both wife and child to him. He does
not see her as his equal as women were typically not viewed as equal partners. He sees her only
as his possession, a young, vibrant Nora, magnificent for only him, for him to show off at his will,
and to signify his manhood. It is possible that he was much her elder and it was admired among
men to seek out a young woman for marriage, they were more malleable and up to the task of
bearing their children.
The sense that woman were helpless creatures seemed to echo in the society around them. It
appears that most women were not considered for work or allowed to educate themselves.
Torvald viewed Nora as a frail creature, child like and completely helpless yet influential and
responsible for the morality of the family. Nora s character seemed to represent the way women
were more or less held captive in their homes just as they were in society. This dependent role for
woman was emphasized when Mrs. Linde spoke of her life being empty; that she had no one to
care for and there was no pleasure in working for oneself. Wife and mother were the most important
roles that women played and without

Describe The Amazing Dolphins
The Amazing Dolphins
Have you ever know how smart and amazing dolphins are?The way that dolphins communicate is
through echolocation. Also dolphins are a mammal that are not scared of anything when they are
in a group , because other mammals like sharks will be scared. Dolphins are like humans they live
in different places like saltwater and freshwater. Dolphins also have a different choice of food like
different fish they eat. The best thing about dolphins is that they are fast swimmers then they can
swim away from their predators.
Dolphins communicate by echolocation to find each other and also to know if danger is coming.
Dolphins squawk, whistle, click and squeak sometimes dolphins vocalize. A dolphins matter might
whistle to call him after his/her birth for several days after. They also can talk ... Show more content

The shape of a dolphins body helps them swim faster. they shape of their body is like a tube that
is pointed at both ends. When dolphins swim the water goes over their body because of their
shape. This helps them go faster so that they don t have to push through the water and they can
flow through the water. For example when dolphins work hard they can swim up to twenty five
miles per hour. Dolphins are known for their speed and quickness in the water.
I think that dolphins are very smart they are very easy to train because of their memory they have
a very good memorie. When they memorize something it stays there for there whole life. That s
why dolphins are in aquariums and they have shows for them. Dolphins are very like apes they use
tools to find the answer to a problem.
In conclusion I want to say dolphins are very interesting and beautiful mammals. They use their
echolocation to communicate. They live in different parts of the ocean. They can swim at a very
fast rate. Also they aren t scared of sharks when they are in a group. These beautiful mammals can
teach us so much, and they help us with our world

Feminism In Jane Eyre
As an artifact of the Victorian Era, Charlotte BrontС‘ s, Jane Eyre, is seemingly scandalous. The
novel initiates the conversation as to if women can achieve longstanding success in regards to
their desires through the act of questioning authority despite societal standards. Using Jane as the
female protagonist, BrontС‘ delves into how women are wholly capable of championing
autonomy and fulfilling female passion if they maintain a certain level of self respect, courage,
and humility. Throughout the novel, BrontС‘ puts strong attention to the fiery and courageous
nature of Jane s character. Even at the beginning of the novel when Jane is merely ten years old,
one can gain insight into just how bold she really is: I am not deceitful: if I were, I should say I
loved you; but I declare I do not love you: I dislike you the worst of anybody in the world except
John Reed... (BrontС‘ 36). The fact that Jane had the courage at such a young age to question
authority proves her to be strong and fearless unlike most of the girls during the Victorian Era. A
part of what ignites Jane s female passion to question authority is Helen Burns. Unlike Jane, Helen
believes in turning the other cheek and not obsessing over the bad treatment she receives from
others that are of a higher status: It is far better to endure patiently a smart which nobody feel but
yourself, than to commit a hasty action whose evil consequences will extend to all connected with
you and besides, the Bible bids us

  • 3. Rasputin Was An Infamous Siberian Holy Man Grigori Yefimovich Rasputin was an infamous Siberian holy man , whose ability to cure the Tsar and Tsarina s son of haemophilia led to him becoming an important friend and spiritual advisor to the Romanov royal family (Duffy, 2009). Rasputin was a paradox, by day he was a supreme mystic at court and at night he obtained a reputation as a notorious drunk and philanderer (Rae Thompson, 2014). By 1916 Rasputin was viewed by many as a malevolent puppeteer who infiltrated his way into the royal family, pulling the strings of the Tsar s wife and manipulating the regime (Rae Thompson, 2014). While his influence and status may have been overstated Rasputin became an obvious scapegoat for Russian aristocrats, liberals and nationalists, synonymous with debauchery, lust and power his presence brought considerable shame and discredit to the tsarist government (Moss, 2003). The dominant viewpoint that Rasputin was the sole reason behind the decay of the Romanov reign is presented by Mikhail Rodzianko, Chairman of the Duma, who stated that The appearance in [the royal] court of Grigory Rasputin, and the influence he exercised there, mark the beginning of the decay of Russian society and the loss of prestige for the throne and for the person of the Tsar himself . However, although Rasputin s company played a significant role in the increasing unpopularity of the Imperial couple, he was purely a symbol of Russian despotism and not a central character in the downfall of the Romanov ... • 4. Review Of Dracula By Bram Stoker Blood Lust The amount of crazed vampire stories within this world continuously grows despite the amount of creativity that can go into the description, and characterization of said vampires being quite limited. There would only be so many possibilities for scenes, situations, and character designs if authors went by nothing more than the characteristics of the vampires in Bram Stokers Dracula. Because of this, authors continue to create more and more ridiculous scenarios as well as more and more advanced vampires. The comparison of the way vampires look, respond to environmental stimuli, and act in social situations in books like Dracula or The Chronicles of Vladimir Tod, as well as book series such as Blood Lad and Twilight, is quite drastic. Every vampire in movies or novels essentially has the same cold body functions of the dead pale, chilled flesh, lack of a heartbeat. Dracula had these characteristics, along with being clad in black... who is clean shaven aside from a long, white moustache. Dracula lived in a Gothic era where he wore a double breasted vest, white shirt, black slacks, fancy shoes, a pocket watch, and a fake smile on his face. These kind looks, as well as his charisma, made people trust him more. In the novel, it is written that ...The count s greeting is so warm that the Englishman s fears vanish. • 5. Cross Cultural Communication Important For Businesses In this report, I will justify, why is cross cultural communication important for businesses in the 21st century. Cross cultural communication is a very important factor for businesses in these days because of the rapid economic development hence globalisation. Therefore, knowledge and understanding of a cultural diversity are a must especially for businesses operated worldwide to correctly react to body language, symbols, gestures or situations that can be easily misunderstood due to cultural differences and can lead to the unsuccessful transactions, contracts or a business as a whole, for example, Americans or British use the gesture thumb up to express that everything going well, while in Bangladesh it means rude or awful. Living or doing a business in different country does not only mean knowing their food, music or clothing, but mainly to understand their beliefs and values, as these are usually hidden deeply beneath the surface, even though we may find some habits or beliefs in the different country s culture to be same or very similar to ours. In my opinion, it is very difficult to talk about cultural differences without making statements or likelihood, hence generalisations, which can help to describe how people from one culture usually behave and react in a particular situation. However, even though generalisation can help to learn and understand different cultures around the world, it can lead to a negative stereotyping, miscommunication and conflicts. What ... • 6. The United States Congress Today, the United States Congress has two main purposes in our government; to create the laws of the land and to represent the American people. But, the main reason for creating a congress in the beginning was because of a growing outcry against British rule over the colonies. In 1774, delegates from 12 of the 13 colonies met in Philadelphia for the First Continental Congress. The announced purpose of the congress was to deliberate and determine on wise and proper measures . . . for the restoration of union and harmony between Great Britain and America (Volkomer, Walter E.. 2012). (Volkomer, Walter E.. 2012) Members of the House of Representatives serve two year terms and are referred to as congressman or congresswoman. During their two year term, they serve the people of a specific congressional district or area. Their main duties are to introduce bills and resolutions, serve on committees, and offer amendments. It s also important to note that the Constitution states that any bill that raises revenue must originate in the House of Representatives. Members of the Senate serve six year terms and are usually looked upon more as a representative of their state rather than individuals. One thing the Senate has is the ability to block legislation coming through by way of a filibuster. Generally speaking, though, the House and the Senate operate mostly in the same capacity. The House is known to be a little faster paced and the Senate is known to be a little slower and more deliberate. As stated earlier, the main role of Congress is to create laws. The procedure for creating laws in America is fairly simple on the surface, but there are a lot of layers that some people find confusing to follow. However, it was later found that overthrowing Jones didn t make the community better than before, and the actions that the animals disliked when Jones ruled stayed the same. Also, the rules slowly changed in the pigs favor when they became the leaders. The first reason why the Rebellion of the animals didn t lighten the burden of Jones ruling is that the ruling of the pigs didn t make the community better and the specific acts that the animals despised stayed the same when the animals overthrew Jones. For example, the animals did not like that they had to do laborious work for the humans and that they were killed without a reasonable cause. When Old Major announces his speech, he states, We are born, we are given just so much food as will keep the breath in our bodies, and those of us who are capable of it are forced to work the last atom of our strength; and at the very instant that our usefulness has come to an end we are slaughtered with hideous cruelty (7). • 29. Research on the Communicative Skills of Dogs We all learn from one another and wolves, like dogs, can learn from us as well. Dogs are more skillful than great apes at a number of tasks in which they must read human communicative signals like indicating the location of hidden food. However, the main objective of these studies was to determine whether the skills that doghave today have arisen from the hundreds of years of domestication and co evolution with humans, or if these were already in their genes from their wolf ancestors (Bates 2013). The modern wolf comes from a long history of canines, which have adapted to survive in many different environments. They adapt their diet to the food that is available where younger wolves watch and learn from the other members of the pack, a behavior commonly known as cultural transmission. The alpha wolves order the others on where to go, when to hunt and where to make a den. Wolves like dogs act upon orders. Genetic and archaeological evidence shows that humans domesticated wolves on more than one occasion. Domesticated wolves provided early humans with a guard animal, a source of food, fur, and a beast of burden. The process continues to this day, with the intentional artificial selection and crossbreeding of dogs to create new breeds. Tacit collusion Tacit Collusion is collusion that is not organized through a formal, open contract between colluding parties. With the never ending evolution of modern technology, the diesel engine has come a long way since its invention in the late 19th century. With new advancements in technology, the diesel engineis no longer loud and dirty as it was in the past. In fact, with modern advancements, diesel engines have come to possess many advantages over gasoline engines. Modern diesel engines boast better attributes than their gasoline counterparts, such as greater reliability, increased fuel efficiency, and superior performance. When most people think of a diesel engine, they think of a semi truck or a tractor. People think of something big and dirty when they hear the word diesel . Diesel engines have long been used in heavy equipment, things like semi trucks, tractors, locomotives, and the like. But how about in a car? What a crazy idea, right? Well, although this may seem crazy, it actually makes perfectly good sense. Diesel engines have many advantages over a gasoline engine. Diesel engines are more reliable than gasoline motors. Why are diesel engines more reliable? Diesel engines are built heavier than gasoline engines. A diesel engine is a compression engine, so to handle the compression experienced by the engine during ignition, the engine must be built heavier than a typical gasoline engine. Diesel engines tend to last longer than gasoline engines as well. ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
