Was Roosevelt A Pragmatist
To understand whether FDR was to a greater extent an Isolationist in the 1930s, one must consider of
his foreign policy in the 1930s and figure out which of his foreign policy was made in a perspective of
an pragmatist, isolationist or gradualist. Finally, one must consider which of the three different views
or perspective was to a greater extent, great extent or somewhat extent suitable to FDR with regards to
his foreign policy.
Roosevelt was predominantly a Pragmatist with regards to his decision made throughout his foreign
policy in 1930s. Despite Roosevelt understand that US involvement in war is crucial, and had won
some support for his views in the quarantine speech; Roosevelt did not offered no real action due to

Roosevelt s Good neighbor policy was a non intervention policy that aims to promote good
relationship with Latin America and solidify Latin American support through avoiding Military
intervention of US to Latin America, but instead using a much more peaceful tone. This is important
as it clearly shows that Roosevelt was not a staunch isolationist as the reason he want to maintain a
good relationship with Latin is due to fear towards the conflict in Europe, so from this it could be seen
that Roosevelt is actually preparing for intervention to war and is seeking for ways to gain more
support and Latin American is one of it. In addition in August 1935, Roosevelt had also signed the
Neutrality Act; a law that was designed to keep the United States out of a possible European war by
banning shipment of war materiel to belligerents at the discretion of the President. This is important as
despite aware of the rise of totalitarism, Roosevelt didn t challenger over the congress over on the
neutrality act and was willing to follow his good neighbor policy for the purpose of avoiding USA
entanglements in the 1930s as Americans had been frightened by the tragic of war as memories of the
First world War were still

Advantages And Disadvantages Of Sharing System
The development situation of sharing system
Sharing system ,which was a brand new concept appeard in 2015 has already become a fashionable
life style. Most people, especially those in first tier cities may have an intensive feeling that sharing
system brings too much conveniece and low cost for their daily life, such as shared
bicycles.Besides, not only shared bicycles, but some other forms has begun to arise. For
example, because of the difficuty for finding a fixed parking lot and the high cost of parking cars,an
application named Searching for Parking Spaces or in Chinese Zhao Che Wei was developed by a
science and technology compony, this APP can help people find a shareable parking space by
inputting one s cellphone number, driving license number and how much time they need.In addition,
an umbrella sharing business has come into being in Shanghai and even shared laundries has appeard
in some cities. It is said by some surveys and ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
It s not just a simple economy form, but a different public service methed for the high degree of
participation and social influence. The precondition of sharing system is the disadvantages of
traditional vehicles. For example, driving is a common way people choose to travel, but as a matter of
fact, traffic jam and road accidents are become two mean reasons that people refuse to use cars. So for
these people, shared bicycles are the best choices. Secondly, the sharing economy depends on Internet
techonology which has a high speed development because all of the sharing products, such like
bicycles and umbrellas are managed uniformly by Internet. What s more, the sharing system reflects
that Chinese people, especially the young generation are more creative. Dai Wei,the originator of the
ofo,was graduated from Peking University in 2014.His team are composed of young people who are
enthusiastic about public welfare and resource sharing life

Horror Film Analysis
Horror Essay
Horror films are movies that aim to elicit a strong physiological reaction in the viewer, such as raised
heartbeat and fear. Three horror films by the names of Psycho, Scream and The Messengers will be
analysed and compared to an episode of the popular children s show Shaun the Sheep. Five elements
will be addressed in this analysis, those being camera techniques, Mise en scene, Editing, Lighting and
Sound.
In all of the previously mentioned films, there are a range of camera techniques being utilized to their
advantage. In the horror film Psycho, they use extreme close ups to help show emotions or to add
drama. Point of View filming is also common in all three of the films, as POV can make the viewer
feel more engaged and being able to see what the victim in the film can see adds an element of fear
that wouldn t be able to be achieved if everything was shot in 3rd person. For example, in Scream, it is
often filmed in the Point of View of the victim who is being stalked and later killed by the antagonist
and shows things such as the girls boyfriend tied to a chair or the killer running through her house.
Another technique that is used in these films is Mise en scene.
Mise en scene is the arrangement of everything that appears on screen, such as the actors, props and
costumes. In the movie Scream, the characters wear outfits to make their roles obvious. The girl s
boyfriend is wearing a highschool jersey which shows who he is quite easily and the killer is

Audie Murphy Audie Murphy was the most decorated American Army soldier of World War II. The
orphaned son of Texas sharecroppers, he enlisted at age 18 and went on to win two dozen military
medals for valor, including the Congressional Medal of Honor. After the war Murphy parlayed his war
time fame into a career as a movie actor, song writer, and business man. He wrote his war memoirs, To
Hell and Back, and played himself in the 1955 movie of the same name. The 20th of June is officially

turned down for being too short. After that, he tried the paratroopers, but they said he didn t have the
right kind of build for the job. So finally, he was forced to settle with the United States Army. After he
was enlisted, he was sent to Camp Wolters, Texas, for basic training. During a session of close order
drill, he passed out! His grumpy company commander tried to have Audie transferred to a cook and
bakers school because he thought Audie was too young and weak, but Murphy persisted on becoming
a combat soldier. Finally, after 13 weeks of basic training, he was sent to Fort Meade, Maryland for
advanced infantry training. Audie Murphy still had a lot of trouble and had to fight the system to get
overseas and into actual combat. But he was very persistent and his persistence finally paid off, and in
early 1943, he was shipped to Casablanca, Morocco in Africa as a replacement in Company B, 1st
Battalion, 15th Infantry Regiment (United States), 3rd Infantry Division. Disappointed, Murphy didn t

The Taagic Story of Dolphin Mistreatment
Ever since I was young, I was always fond of the ocean. The waves that the sea created intriqued me
and the animals that lived underwater were even more unbelievable. I found the dolphin to be
extremely fascinating. Since the first time I saw one while surfing at my local beach, Manly, I was
hooked. What I didnt know was the horiffic story behind those playful creatures I saw at aquariums
every year. Whether it be on a primary school excursion or a family outing with my family to the
aquarium, those happy looking creatures beyond the glass where no more than abused animals living a
nightmare. So where did they come from?
After much research, I found that the countries contributing most to dolphin killing where located in
Asian countries in particular Japan. As you can see in the following chart showing whaling
distribution throughout the globe, Japan is a hotpot for dolphin hunts. Because the dolphins can be
sold to marine parks and butchers across the country for such good money, fisherman in the Region of
Taiji (an area with large influxes of marine mammals), kill them annually. Other regions such as
Guinea and other Pacific Islands have openly admited that Japan had been financially aiding them to
undertake dolphin kills.
Whats most appauling is the way in which the dolphins are killed. The Tiaji Fishing Cooperative in
southeastern Japan have put numerous efforts into methods that kill the dolphin quickest in the hope
that more killings means more profit. The

What Obstacles Did Jackie Robinson Face
In 1947, Jackie Robinson was called up to the major leagues by the Dodgers. On April 15, 1947,
Robinson made his debut in the major league at Ebbets Field. There was a crowd of 26,623 spectators,
and more than 14,000 of those spectators were Black. Robinson had officially broken the color line.
He had become the first African American to play in the Major League Baseball in the modern era.
The last time that the color line was openly broken in Major League Baseball was in 1880. This was a
huge deal. African American fans would start attending Dodger games just to see Jackie play. As
amazing as it was to finally have an African American playing in Major League Baseball, there was a
lot of racial criticism that came along with it. Jackie Robinson ... Show more content on

Jackie had a batting average of.296 and had 22 stolen bases for the season. The Dodgers were in first
place in the National League, but they ended up finishing in third. In the 1948 season, more black
players entered the league. This reduced racial pressure on Robinson. The Dodgers acquired three
other black players that season. In the 1949 season, Jackson improved his batting average from .296 to
.342. He received the Silver Bat Award for his superb batting average. Jackie stole 37 bases, had 122
runs, and was second in the league for doubles and triples. He had improved tremendously in the span
of one year. That season he earned the Most Valuable Player Award for the National League. In
addition to his 1949 MVP Award, Robinson was also voted to be the starting second baseman in the
1949 All Star Game. This was a very big deal, because it was the first All Star game to include black

Jap A Dominant Country Conducting Whaling Practices
I. Introduction:
For many decades, Japan is well known as a dominant country conducting whaling practices for many
purposes such as obtaining whale meat and oil (Facts about Japan, n.d.). Whaling has been one of the
most important industry in Japan since the WW II post war that provides huge amount of protein and
helps fed Japanese citizens (Animal Planet, n.d.). It is believed that the coastal villages were where
hunting whales was first claimed to take place in shore with hand thrown harpoons, but it was not the
main interest of many people (Whalingmuseum, n.d.). It was not until the 17th century that whaling
industry had a dramatic development due to an invention of hunting in groups of boats using net
technique (Facts about Japan, ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
1. Social:
It is evident that whaling practices can lead to a reduction in the population of whales, ecosystem
degradation, and even cause the species to the brink of extinction (International Whaling Commission,
n.d.). The main factors causing the problem are over exploitation, disturbance from whaling vessels,
entanglement in fishing gears, and environmental factors (International Whaling Commission, n.d.).
According to the WDC (n.d.), more than 36,700 whales were killed after the 1986 moratorium in
which Japan accounted for nearly 20,000 whales. The International Whaling Commission (n.d.)
reported that the common whales hunted by Japanese, which are Minke, Fin, Sei, Sperm, Bryde s and
Humpback whales, were severely exploited and depleting in terms of population in the Japanese
whaling grounds before the 1986 moratorium. In addition, the operation of whaling fleets apparently
causing noise pollution affecting the communication process of whales and other marine species as
well (Lian Lu, n.d.). Whales are one of the top level animals in the marine food chain, therefore, a
decline in whale population definitely have an impact on the marine ecosystem. Lian and Lu (n.d.),
have said that whale s dead body is a great source of food for the marine animals in a lower depth of
the ocean. Thus, the more whales killed by whaling practices, the less food for others sea creatures and
organisms (Lian Lu, n.d.). Also, nutrients in

Freedom In Albert Camus s The Myth Of Sisyphus
Freedom
People follow same standard steps from birth till the end. We go to kindergarten then to
school. Later we enter university and live with the desire of to find a good job and to make a
better life. Do we do these things, because we really want it? In fact, this is just expectations of
society that most people think they should follow. Albert Camus, philosopher and writer, claims
that with living almost the same lives with others and with following the society we just repress
ourselves. In his essay The Myth of Sisyphus , he acknowledges that person can be free with
accepting the Absurd. People who follow the expectations of society repress their freedom,
because they are not aware that they are ruled by society. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
However, the absurd man is determined to reject all of these
expectations on him. The only freedom the absurd man can know is the freedom he experiences:
the freedom to think and to act as he chooses. By abandoning the idea that he has some role to
fulfill, the absurd man attains the freedom of taking each moment of life as it strikes him, free of
preconceptions or prejudices.
The Guest of the Albert Camus, follows the story of Daru. He is a schoolteacher who lives
on a remote plateau. We see from the beginning of the story that Daru lives alone but he does not
feel lonely. He is even grateful for his solitude and for living in the cruel desert. One day Daru
watches two men approach his schoolhouse. One of the men was Balducci, a friend of Daru and
he leads an Arab prisoner who has been accused of murdering his cousin. Balducci has been
ordered to bring the Arab to Daru, and then return immediately to his post. Likewise, Daru has
orders to turn in the prisoner to police headquarters. Daru refuses this task, considering it
dishonorable, because he does not know that he is guilty or not. Balducci agrees with the
schoolmaster, but insists that in war men must be prepared to do many different jobs.

Gun Control And Mass Shootings
Gun Control In the course of history gun control and mass shootings has always been an issue, but
much too often, history has been being made. Gun control is an understatement for what actually is
being implemented. The process to get a gun, for example, a rifle, is all too easy. Let me personally
walk you through this gruesome process . First, you walk into the store, second you pick your desired
weapon, third you walk to the cashier to do a background check, finally you buy the gun. The hardest
part about that process was choosing the actual weapon you want. With little gun control comes more
mass shootings, and with more control comes less mass shootings. Obtaining a gun is much too easy,
and needs to become more strict, or even ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Another common saying by those who believe taking away weapons is a bad thing is, taking away
guns will cause more criminal activity. Every armed robbery taken place the victim has 91% of the
time was wielding a single type of weapon, for example a gun.
As I sit here researching the topic on mass shootings and deaths in the U.S. a breaking news article
popped up on my screen. In Texas today, November 5, 2017, 27 people were killed and 30 were
injured. I would normally be in shock how someone can do such a thing to innocent moms, dads, kids,
teens, and infants. But with the world we are living in now there are no surprises to me anymore with
the recurring gun violence. It s as if there is a contest to gain entry to the top mass shootings in U.S.
history because this one in Texas has made it in. Exactly a month ago the Las Vegas shooting was
taken place becoming the deadliest shooting ever recorded in U.S. history and this now being 4th in
that list. Being the greatest country in the world I would think someone would have the common sense
to realize guns are the issue not the people wielding them.
Previously stated above among the 52,000 shooting incidents this year only about 1,700 was reported
for defensive use, leaving the rest assumed to be in acts of violence. The number of deaths recorded
this year for our U.S. soldiers reaches 6,903, while American citizens reach 13,136 with gun violence.
With these facts being put on paper it

in the telemetry process including the managers, nurses, monitor technicians and clinical engineers.
This group selection afforded us an opportunity to share successful approaches, discuss barriers and
create specific strategies acknowledging variation and where in the process steps it could be
eliminated. Multiple barriers in the process were readily identified and the team would meet on a bi
weekly for several months to discuss each process step and decided on countermeasures. An example
of one risk recognized was an interruption in the ECG data recorded between the emergency
department and the data recorded in the telemetry units. This step revealed a possible loss of data and
possible incorrect patient identification of data upon arrival to the unit. The solution was to involve
clinical engineering to create a seamless record for recording the cardiac ECG rhythms from the

How Desalination Plants may help to aid California s Water Crisis

To whom it may concern;
The general problem is that California is in a drought. The state of California is searching high and
low trying to find a sustainable source of water. The specific problem is that California is not able to
produce a large amount of water, be that potable or water that may be able to be used in the extensive
agricultural and industrial sectors that California is known for world wide.

B.) History of the Issue The issue of building desalination plants has been a hot topic of Californians
in the past couple decades because researchers knew that our available surface and groundwater
supplies are becoming scarce. This problem is important because California is home to a large
population of people as well as extensive agricultural and industrial productions that need vast
amounts of water. With the reduction in available ground and fresh water brings other problems that
need to be addressed. Many farmers are having to impose stricter management policies in regards to
how they use the water the pay so much for. Crops sensitive to the amount of water they receive or do
not receive can be destroyed in a short amount of time if neglected of water. With the amount of fresh
water accumulated by both snow melt of California s mountains as well as ground water retrieved
from wells and pumps being depleted faster than we can recharge those sources, farmers face further
impacts. An article by Robert Glennon, Unquenchable: Americas water crisis and what to do about it
says In the summer of 2009, California is facing mandatory water rationing. Many farmers may be
entirely cut off, costing the economy more than $1 billion and putting more

Willy Loman In Willy Of A Salesman
Willy Loman is trapped in his life, often being suffocated by the things around him, but what is really
trapping him in these bricks and windows, bricks and windows is himself. Willy is trapping himself
from achieving success. In his head, success is thought as the same by everyone else in the society, to
be rich, have kids, and a house. The reason why Willy himself can t achieve it, is because of the things
in his life happening around him that makes his mind think differently. For example, his two sons.
Willy had thought highly of them back when they were younger, especially Biff because they were
both hotshots at their high school. Even Biff admits that his dad pressured him to much to do well in
school, which led him to getting nowhere in life saying Biff: I stole myself out of every good job since
high school! Willy: And whose fault is that? Biff: And I never got anywhere because you blew me so
full of hot air I could never stand taking orders from anybody! That s whose fault it is! Willy: I hear
that! Linda: Don t, Biff! (131). This conversation Willy had with Biff had changed his mindset on how
he raised his child, he once thought he was motivating his sons but it ended up making his sons so
pressured to not end up doing anything with their life. When Willy had come home from a business
trip to see his sons broke and jobless not even achieving success themselves, it had ruin Willy s
success as well, wanting his children to exceed in life.

Homosexual Stigma Essay examples
Homophobia is a terrible form of bullying and it is one of the largest issues in secondary schools
today. The perceived opinions and concepts that come out of this type of harassment causes young
adolescents who are part of the LGBTQ community or ones that remains closeted to fall into a stigma
that can be extremely harmful. By falling into this stigma it opens the youth up to whole world of
harassment, ridicule, physical altercations and numerous other acts that can ultimately diminish a
person to nothing; which, in some cases can end unfortunately. One of the major questions you should

their sexuality? And where does this stigma come ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

any kind is said to typically falls just outside of what is believed to be the social norm and they are
usual scrutinized for this reason and permanently labelled. According to Erving Goffman defines
stigma as a severe social disapproval of personal characteristics or beliefs that are perceived to be
against that cultural norms. (cite)As a result, when we come across adolescents who embrace a
homosexual way of living which, does not fall within the norm of society these individuals are
constantly harassed from their supposed transgression. When these stigmas are attached to youth who
are homosexual they find it difficult to adjust to the pressures and some try to find equilibrium by
resorting to drug and alcohol use and in some cases suicide. High school is a time when most gay,
lesbian, and bisexual (GLB) youths experience a great deal of distress related to the stigma attached to
being gay. Many try to avoid stigmatization by concealing the fact that they are GLB. (David M.

Research Issues in Psychology Critical Review of a Research Article Pupils who exhibit gifted

responses and perceptions through interview, of one particular individual (Andrew) who was
identified as being gifted and talented (G/T) and who had emotional and behavioral disabilities (EBD).
What the researchers aimed to accomplish through this analysis was a clearer understanding of

Teaching, according to the Teacher s Training Agency, ...is a job for those who like and respect young

disrespected as a result of being labelled. His position as an educator a number of years later, enable
him to look quite critically upon his educators, almost, one could argue with an expert eye. As well as
the questions which are raised about the size of the sample that was used, it is also necessary to point
out the lack of detail present concerning how the sample was chosen. Andrew s reflective experiences
several years after they occurred surely cannot be as valid as for example, a sample of children
displaying twice exceptional abilities within schools at the time of commencing the research. Perhaps
Morrison and Omdal had valid reasons for choosing Andrew as their lone participant, but this detail is
missing from their study. There is no evidence either to suggest whether Andrew was de briefed about
the nature of this study, which could prove significant with regard to his responses to the interview
questions, especially as he talks with such fervour about his experiences. Since they only had one

experiences in school and in the community. An interview as stated in Cohen et al

Now that you have attracted the man of your dreams, it is time to get him to stay in love with you.
There are plenty of stories of people falling out of love for various reasons. This normally happens
when two people don t agree with something, or when the equilibrium of the relationship is off in
some kind of way. You have to ignite the fire back into your relationship by renewing it sometimes.
Do things never done before and trying new stuff. Be innovative and creative. Take a vacation
somewhere to breathe new life into your soul. Buy a videogame and and play it with him. Watch a
football game or two with him. Read with him. Play sports with him. Just don t be boring or dull. This

Do what s right. Make a list of the things he likes. The key is keeping him turned on. If a man want to
lead, let him lead. If he wants to open the door for you, let him do so. It will make him feel good
knowing that he s making you feel good. There s a popular song by singer Ginuwine called Keep It
Real . He talks about the woman being honest, telling the truth, and saying what s on her mind and
heart. A man can respect a woman who keeps it real . Being real and honest is something a man can
really appreciate and will travel to the ends of the earth to show you that honesty matters.
Go Above and Beyond
Cater to his needs. You don t have to become a slave or anything like that, but rather show the man
that you have his best interest at heart. Men like to be pampered, so if you did this you will definitely
get on his good side. You don t have to be a Ringling Bros. and Barnum Bailey Circus performer, just
accentuate simple things that shows him you care. Understand what he likes and use this to please
him. Go the extra miles. Be flexible and fun in a sense. Show him a little side of your humor. Let him
feel comfortable being around you. It is great if he knows that he can open up to you. Also, be
trusting. Show him that you trust him. Don t judge him, accept him for who he is. Comfort him during
a time of need. Men like that too. If he s feeling bad about something learn how to cheer him up.
Encourage him to talk about it

Existing laws in the states that permit physician assisted suicide require that patients have a terminal
illness (including Alzheimer s, Parkinson s, heart disease, cancer, and many other debilitating
diseases). You must be of sound mind (competent to make decisions), and be expected to die within
six months of submitting your request. (Soo Borson is a professor of psychiatry and behavioral
sciences and psychosocial and community health nursing at the University of Washington.)
C. The specific method in each state varies, but mainly involves a prescription from a licensed
physician approved by the state in which the patient is a resident.
PAS is very different than euthanasia because it is centralized around choice.
In PAS, the patient must self administer the medications; the assisted portion attributes to a physician
providing the medications, but the patient decides whether and when to ingest the lethal medication.
Euthanasia occurs when a third party administers medication or acts directly to end the patient s life.
Euthanasia is illegal in every state, including Washington. (CNN).
Two of the costly effects of limiting this option is lack of respect for autonomy and refusing to grant
death upon those that wish for it.

Analysis Of Mary Shelley s Frankenstein
Frankenstein thinks that everything is alright now, but Elizabeth has a premonition that the monster
will return, and she warns her fiancé that she fears some harm is going to befall him. At the same time,
during the entire village s celebration, the father of the dead girl carries her lifeless body though the
streets for all to see. The shock crowd stops its celebration, stunned and outraged over the death of
Maria, and they demand justice from The Burgomaster (mayor) and local police. By nightfall, the
angry mob has organized into torch carrying search parties to find the murderer. Frankenstein is

Within two years she had published the novel Frankenstein: or, The Modern Prometheus (1818).
Shelley came from well to do family, highly educated, and liberal background. She was married to
poet and philosopher Percy Shelley, and during a bleak summer of 1816, the couple famously spent a
summer with Lord Byron, John William Polidori, and Claire Clairmont near Geneva, Switzerland

for the creation of the modern vampire myth, but it was the 19 year old Mary who produced a novel

Mary Shelley often wrote her books on biographical, historical, romantic, and gothic themes. Another
noteworthy book by Shelley is a science fiction apocalyptic novel The Last Man published in 1826.

Irish Literature And Rebellion Essay
Irish Literature and Rebellion
In the heart of every Irishman hides a poet, burning with nationalistic passion for his beloved Emerald
Isle. It is this same passion, which for centuries, Great Britain has attempted to snuff out of the
Catholics of Ireland with tyrannical policies and the hegemony of the Protestant religion. Catholics
were treated like second class citizens in their native home. Centuries of oppression churned in the
hearts of the Irish and came to a boil in the writings and literature of the sons and daughters of Ireland.
The Literary Renaissance of Ireland produced some of the greatest writers the world has seen. John O

However, he was troubled at the thought that his pen could be the cause of war. Although he was

At the end of his life he was still wondering if his early writing had helped to seed the rising, to send

Abraham Lincoln s Beliefs
Some have said that Abraham Lincoln s beliefs are a mystery. He himself has never proclaimed his
beliefs but a lot can be determined by his actions and words. Through observation, there have been
quite a lot of conclusions to his faith. Some conclusions are: skepticism, deism, Christianity, theism,
fatalism, and even atheism. It s an on going debate for the conclusion to his faith although we won t be
able to ever prove exactly what his beliefs were since he never made a profession, there are many facts
leading to his belief in a personal savior.
Among the conclusions, skepticism is one of many. In his earlier years, he was a known skeptic and he
is often remembered as a skeptic because of his earlier quotes (George). Despite his firm belief in
God, proved by the references to God and the Bible in the Second Inaugural Address, some say that he
was just trying to please the audience even though what he said is not what the people wanted to hear
(Calhoun and Morel). Lincoln may have been a skeptic at a young age, but he showed reliance on God
later in life. James Smith said that he was inclined to believe that Lincoln was a skeptic but unlike
most skeptics, he was a constant reader of the Bible (Lind, 51). He showed no skepticism as the
president, he only showed his reliance on God and his unfailing word.
Another belief was that Lincoln was a deist. Possibly because he never made a profession of faith and
he never officially joined a church but this is not a sound argument.

The Common Reasons Of Lao Illness Essay
The primary belief system across Laos is that all individuals and objects have various souls. This
animism, along with the idea of reincarnation and ancestral worship, has a direct link to their

Either the sins of one have angered their ancestors, or one has lost a soul because of their misdeeds or

modern healthcare practitioners have a tendency to be scarce in Laos. The rural populations traditional

Before ASL was accepted as an official language in these schools, many educators and school

Other schools used more severe reprimands (Oral 1). Because of this history, the modern community

close knit community where everyone seems to know everyone. Some parents, aware of this

Another step that should be made in order for this law to be taken is to increase the amount of
drinking and driving laws. Drunk driving should not be tolerated of any kind. Punishment should be
increased and the current zero tolerance policy should remain if not made harsher. This would make
anti drinking organizations such as M.A.D.D. and S.A.D.D. happy for the drinking and driving aspect.
Defensive driving courses would also be made readily available in high schools throughout the
country. It would be a mandatory course to take. This would be a regulation because in most cases
there will be a small percentage of drunk drivers on the road still. There are more and more teenage
drivers on the road currently and these defensive driving courses would help make responsible drivers
aware of the dangers and prevent them from accidents involving the drunk driving. No matter what the
legal drinking age is there will always be drunk drivers on the road. Teenagers are over represented in
driving accidents involving alcohol. But for the ones that do, we must enforce harsher penalty s to
drivers that are under the influence. Another thing that would be helpful is for the government to
sponsor a program that would support some sort of Designated Drivers program on college campus s
and bars. This would eliminate a lot of the possible drinking and driving situations that would arise
and it would condone responsible drinking policies to everyone, and

Why Is It Important for States to Have the Ability to...
Why is it important for states to have the ability to modify/amend or totally change their state s
constitutions? The Founding Fathers instituted a mechanism in the Constitution that allowed it to be
amended, based upon the shifting needs of the nation. A constitution that could not bend would surely
break, in the Founders view. However, to ensure that the Constitution was not amended frequently,
with the whims of the moment, the amendment process was rendered extremely difficult. The
constitution is the organic law of the state because it organizes the government and establishes the
great principles upon which a state or nation is founded. A constitution, like the foundation of a house,
determines the basic shape, but not the details, of that which stands upon it (Miller 2008). For the
states of the union that make up the larger whole of America, there is a similar need to ensure that
constitutions are responsive to constituent s needs. States, given their small size and desire to provide
local services to citizens, have perhaps even more of a need to bestow individualized attention, as the
needs of residents shift and change. But state constitutions are far more limited in their scope: The
U.S. Constitution represents the states granting limited powers to the federal government, while state
constitutions represent the limit of powers that the people have granted to their state governments....
States may amend their constitutions to suit their needs, but the

Family Unit in Human Sociological Terms
Overview The Family Unit In human sociological terms, the family is described as a group of people
that have affinity traditionally, organized through husband, wife, and children and/or extended
relatives. This unit, called the nuclear family, was a historical organization that served economic and
cultural needs, educated children in societal behaviors, and offered stability. In the modern age,
however, families of all kinds exist. There may be one two, three or more parents involved in the child
s overall plan; those parents may be traditional, grandparents or care givers, same sex couples, or
multiple divorces, etc. We live in a diverse world, not just in the United States, but globally. Preparing
children for a leadership role in this world also requires that we take into account individual micro and
macro differences, celebrate those differences, and view the family as assisting in any way possible
the positive relationship of the community, the schools, and other resources to help those children
actualize (Hareven, 1991; Berman, 2010).
Carl Whitaker and Theory Carl Whitaker was one of the founding generation of family therapists. He
died in 1995, but his ideas, theories, and methods surrounding family therapy were seminal in
changing the focus from the individual to the family unit as a whole in therapy. His ideas were first
presented in a 1978 book, co written with Augustus Napier, called The Family Crucible. In this book,
Whitaker noted that overuse of theory can

African Americans Equality
African Americans Equality
African Americans have flourished and more educated today. However, they had a harsh, impactful,
and meaningful history in the United States that made them become idols like for example, Martin
Luther King. African Americans were taken from Africa as slaves, and have been fighting for equality
and freedom ever since that day. African Americans had come a long way since they were forced to do
labor and unsure whether they would live or die considering they were brought over on slave ships.
The slaves were treated as nothing. They had no self esteem, and were beaten, disparage, and
separated from their family. African Americans still fight every day for different types of recognition
and fairness, even though many things changed over the centuries. The African Americans played
major roles during the Civil Rights Movement. African Americans have struggled hard to end
segregation and prejudice, and fought to be treated in a fair way.
For instance, racial separation, also known as Racial Segregation, was a system to keep white
Americans away from African Americans. It also gives African American a subservient status by
denying equal admittance to public facilities and ensuring that black people lived separately from
white people. According to Plessy v. Ferguson, The object of the [Fourteenth] Amendment was
undoubted to enforce the absolute equality of the two races before the law, but in the nature of things

The man s character is his fate that was Mr. Hundert said played by Kevin Kline in Emperor s Club.
The Emperor s Club is a heart touching story. It tells the story of a teacher who teach in a boy s school

cheating and he kept it until the end of the story. The film presents him as a great educator. The chief
curiosity of the film is how it seems to present one view of a teacher, but cannot prevent itself from
revealing another.
The film will not be naturally interpreted in this way, and will be hailed in the latest of a series of
sentimental portraits of great teacher, which include The prime of Miss Jean Brodie and Mr. Holland s

The assembly line principle as it matured in industrial society however, proved to destroy workers
creativity and stifle the very essence of human life. Growth and change. On an assembly line workers
are degraded to automatons, performing the same tasks over and over and over. Day in day out,
without ever having any knowledge or input into any of the other tasks related to completion of the
project. This monotony in the workplace spills over into the daily life of many factory workers and
affects how they live their life outside of the factory after the whistle blows as much as it does while
they re on the assembly line. This spillover was observed by Hamper of his Grandfather. Straight
home from work, dinner, the evening news and immediately into bed at
7:00 p.m. He arose each weekday at 3:30 a.m., fixed himself some black coffee, turned on the kitchen
radio, smoked a handful of Lucky Strikes and waited to leave for work at a quarter to five. This
regimen never varied one iota in the forty years he worked for GM (Hamper pg.6). It is fairly clear
that the monotony of the assembly line has a way of setting personal routines for it s workers that
eventually work their way out of the factory and into the home. One interesting question that is raised,
is whether people who like their life to be routinized eventually find their way to an assembly line or if

Shakespeare s Comedy of Errors
Shakespeare s Comedy of Errors
Comedy of Errors is one of Shakespeare s first plays. The minor characters, in the play, Egeon and the
Duke, set up the framework of the play. Egeon, at the request of the Duke, describes his adventures
and relates his life story. This provides the history of The Comedy of Errors, and helps keep track of
the confusion, which unfolds during the play.
There are several themes that Shakespeare uses which are only loosely related to the actual comedy.
The conflicts between burden and freedom, rule and compassion, loss and rebirth all form a critical
undertone within the play. There is also the serious effect time. Shakespeare requires that all the action
end at five o clock, the time of Egeon s execution, ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The Duke also stands to increase possible return by sentencing Egeon to death. His pardon of Egeon at
the end of the play is supposed to indicate that he has not only learned to pardon, but has overcome his
selfishness by having him turn down the ransom which Antipholus offers.
The play also centers on chance or coincidence. This actually relates to the title, since Error comes
from the Latin word translating to wander. The play is really about wandering, and characters trying to
find their true identities.
Another theme prominent throughout the play is in the phrase, drop of water. quot; Antipholus first
uses the phrase to describe himself, since he views himself as a drop of water, which is trying to find
another drop in the vast ocean of mankind. In this case he is referring to his search for his lost brother
and father. Later, Adriana uses the same language when referring to her husband, and compares their
division similar to separating water. The phrase stands for a joining of two people, and implies an
intimate bond. The use of twins in The Comedy of Errors is not necessarily essentially entertaining.
A further theme that is constantly appearing in the play is that of repression versus freedom.
Beginning with the first scene, Egeon is bound and sentenced; the theory of binding people is made
obvious. It continues with Adriana, who asks her sister why men have more freedom than their wives.
This finishes in the end scenes where

Endocrine System
What does the Endocrine System do for my body? Among the Endocrine system is seven glands that
secretes a specific hormone throughout the body for its regularity. WIth that being said the

The pituitary gland consists of the anterior portion and the posterior portion. Both of these portions
have different functions and secretions of hormones. In the posterior part of the pituitary, the
hormones secreted are oxytocin and the antidiuretic hormone. Oxytocin is responsible for the
contractions during delivery of a newborn and also produces the breast milk needed for the newborn.

produces the parathyroid hormone and it regulates the calcium levels in the blood and in the bones.
Now, the adrenal glands consist of two separate parts that sit on top of the kidneys, the medulla and
cortex. The medulla portion produces the hormones, epinephrine and norepinephrine. These hormones
are how the body reacts in a stressful situation. The cortex is the secondary part of the adrenal glands
and its function mainly regulates blood pressure and blood sugar levels by breaking down the proteins
to produce glucose.

The Four Layers Of The Respiratory System
The respiratory system is made up of two different parts, the upper respiratory tract which includes the
nose, mouth and the beginning on the trachea. This is the part that is in charge of taking in the air and
letting it back out again, and then the lower respiratory tract which is made up of the trachea and the
lungs.
There are four different layers that make up the trachea, these include the mucosa which is the in most
layer. This consists of ciliated pseudostratified columnar epithelium tissue which contains goblet cells
that secrete a tacky mucus that lines the walls of the inner trachea so that it catches any debris
breathed in via the air before it hits the lungs.
Ciliated pseudostratified columnar epithelial cells are a rectangular

End Of Life Care Essay
How does the rural influence affect rural emergency room nurses transitioning from curative to end of
life care? Since there are limited resources in rural hospitals, it is necessary to explore the rural
influence on rural emergency room (ER) nurses transitioning from curative to end of life care
(Rolland, 2016). It was necessary to capture areas of need to best support rural nurses caring for dying
patients and their families in the rural communities. Rural populations are poorly represented in
research (Rolland, 2016). The perceptions of Rural ER Nurses concerning end of life care obstacles
has been explored. A questionnaire was used to rank obstacles. The lowest ranking obstacles were
nurses not being comfortable with caring for dying patients and or their families. Among the highest
ranking obstacles was knowing the patient or family personally. The rural nursing theory was
incorporated to identify rural influences with rural ER nurses transitioning from curative to end of life
care. The rural nursing theory highlights characteristics and dimensions unique to rural populations
and nursing in rural areas (Rolland, ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The conflicts affect transitioning from curative to end of life care. Gaps in education, staff resources,
and personal and professional support may affect rural nurses transitioning from curative to end of life
care. The researchers used a qualitative design with the grounded theory to explore ER nurses personal
transitioning when the focus of patient care changes from curative to end of life. Semi structured
interviews were used to collect data. Data were collected in accordance with constant comparative
analysis and theoretical sampling. A deductive content analysis was also used. The analysis yielded
twenty nine concepts and produced five categories: preparing caring, immersion, making sense,
changing gears, and reflecting. Concepts include distance, resources, and

School Life in the 1950 s
School Life in the 1950 s School Life in the 1950 s was harder than today because the facilities were
few and inadequate. Teachers were stricter and corporal punishment was still in use. They had fewer
subjects and wealth, discrimination, sexism and racism meant they could only do certain subjects.
After World War 2 there was a baby boom and as a result in the 1950 s schools were quickly filling up
as the children enrolled. The enrolments increased as much as 30% over the baby boomers decade. In
the year 1950 there were 166 437 existing elementary and secondary schools in the USA to educate
over 29 million students. As the amount of students increased, the schools and resources declined. It
was reported by the Office of Education in 1953 ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
They used the cane a lot, usually first resort not last. She said it was normal for girls to get the cane in
front of all the class with skirt, or as it was for her, gymslip raised up. They could get 2, 3, 4 strokes in
front of class, occasionally some got 6 strokes. But if it was thought serious they were sent to the
headmaster. Always bare off headmaster, skirt up knickers down. Six minimum, could be up to 12.
She said it was normal to see someone being caned (http://www.experienceproject.com/stories/Used

punishment and many parents believed the teacher was acting in the child s best interests. Other
methods of punishment were intimidation, strapping, removal from class, loss of privilege, writing
lines and verbal put downs were all regularly used. As stated before, the class numbers were
increasing so teachers had to teach more students, meaning discipline was becoming more stringent as
the teacher tried to keep the class in control. The 1950 s was the time of the cold war and there was a
great tear of nuclear war. In certain areas of America the fallout tests were being brought in where the
students were required to go through a fake atomic bomb attack and they would find refuge under
their desks (little did they know this wouldn t protect them from radiation!). It was more for the
teacher and parent s piece of mind. Teachers of 1950 were sterner and more

Human Memory Essay
To start with is to understand human memory is a diverse set of cognitive capacities by which we
reconstruct past experiences and, retain information usually for present purposes. Memory is one of
the most important ways by which our histories define our current actions and experiences. Most
notably, the human ability to conjure up long gone but specific episodes of our lives is both familiar
and puzzling, and is a key aspect of personal identity. Memory seems to be a source of knowledge. We
remember experiences and events which happened and are not currently happening, so memory differs
from perception, so memory is unlike pure imagination. Yet, in practice, there can be close
interactions between remembering, perceiving, and imagining. ... Show more content on

They can be useful in remembering
Symbols red traffic lights, pointing fingers, road signs, etc. can code quite complex messages quickly
and effectively.
Our brains evolved to code and interpret complex stimuli such as images, colors, structures, sounds,
smells, tastes, touch, positions, emotions and language. We use these to make sophisticated models of
the world we live in. Our memories store all of these very effectively. (Mindtools)
Unfortunately, a lot of the information we have to remember in modern life is presented differently as
words printed on a page. While writing is a rich and sophisticated medium for conveying complex
arguments, our brains do not easily encode written information, making it difficult to remember.

To remember people s names needs
A slightly different approach from all the others explained so far in this section. The techniques used,
though, are quite simple:
Face association: Examine a person s face discreetly when you are introduced. Try to find an unusual
feature, whether ears, hairline, forehead, eyebrows, eyes, nose, mouth, complexion, etc. Create an
association between that characteristic, the face, and the name in your mind. The association may be
to link the person with someone else you know with the same name. Alternatively it may be to
associate a rhyme or image of the name with the person s face or defining feature.
Repetition: When you are introduced, ask for

How Celtic Folkore has Influenced My Family Essay
Every family has a unique background that influences the way they live and interact with other people.
My parents, who emigrated from Ireland to the States with my three brothers in 1989, brought over
their own Celtic folklore and traditions that have helped shaped the way our family operates and lives.
One aspect of folklore that has helped shape my family dynamic is the Celtic cross both its
background and what role it has played in our lives. The Celtic cross has an extensive history in
relation to Ireland, but it has a simplistic meaning in my family. The Legend of Finn MacCoul is
another piece of folklore that has a different but no less important meaning in my family than its
origins in Ireland. Although this story has been around ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
With the help of other immigrants and traditions that have been passed on, this piece of folklore has
become a symbol of both Christianity and womanhood in my family. As is tradition, my mother would
give each of my sisters a Celtic cross when she made her communion. This ritual extends beyond my
immediate family due to our unusually large numbers: while my grandmother is one of eight children,
both my mother and I are one of nine. While these strange familial patterns have never been properly
explained, they have created a great way for the bond of the women in each family to go much further.
Since almost all of my extended family still lives in Ireland, the cross is a consoling connection to my
aunts and grandmother who have upheld the tradition. It is also a powerful example of how folklore
changed and adapted from Ireland to the United States (particularly to my family). Both this and the
giving of the Celtic cross have created a significant tradition that we were able to maintain when we
came to the United States. Although the Celtic cross became fashionable as a cemetery marker in
Victorian Dublin around the 1860s, it is still an important part of my religious and familial life
(Thuente, 56). It has become an unspoken bond between the women in my family a bond that is much
appreciated with six brothers in

Rationale In The Little Trampe
Rationale
Modern Times is a commentary on human survival in the economic, political, industrial and social
lifestyle of the 20th century society and remains as relevant, for the 21st century too. The problems
The Tramp highlights through the use of comedy are unemployment, poverty, drugs, strikes, riots,
inhumanity in the workplace are still clearly evident in the current society. The main aspect that this
movie analysis focuses on is the effect of Charlie Chaplin s environment on his character of The Little
Tramp. Throughout the movie, the Tramp can be seen performing all his jobs very mechanically and
meaninglessly. He remains naïve about his surroundings which can be compared to situation of people
in the 21st century wherein tasks are performed without thinking. Machines seem to replacing men
rather than assisting the men. The plot is very important in accentuating and unfolding the character of
a modern life style.
Analysis
The film s opening title The story of industry, of individual enterprise humanity crusading in the
pursuit of happiness is followed by a symbolic image of a flood of men and women flowing out of the
subway station similar to the rows of sheep. From this we can easily understand how like sheep, these
herds of men and women do as they are told and flow into the city s ... Show more content on

Inequality In The Workplace
Inequality comes in many forms and can be compared to preferential treatment. Preferential treatment
states, It s okay for some to have a privilege or right, but not all . The workplace is one area where
inequality runs rampant, which can cause discontent and animosity in the workplace. Many of the
individuals treated unjustly know that they are being treated this way, however; because they need
their job and the income it supplies, they continue on without raising any alarms. We, as Americans,
need to petition, campaign and encourage equality of equal pay for equal work. Sure we have laws
that guard against discrimination and corporations are even quick to boast that they are equal
opportunity employers and yet it stops there. Once ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

positions are out of the office once or twice a month attending a fellow church member s funeral,
however; when a close friend of your dies, they remind you, you are only allowed off for a family
member s death and you have to come into work immediately. Rather than doing something about it
and putting their jobs at risk, people rather let it go, do nothing, say nothing and continue on as they

Finally, one must consider which of the three different views or perspective was to a greater extent, great extent or somewhat extent suitable to FDR with regards to his foreign policy. Roosevelt was predominantly a Pragmatist with regards to his decision made throughout his foreign policy in 1930s. Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Roosevelt s Good neighbor policy was a non intervention policy that aims to promote good relationship with Latin America and solidify Latin American support through avoiding Military intervention of US to Latin America, but instead using a much more peaceful tone. This is important as it clearly shows that Roosevelt was not a staunch isolationist as the reason he want to maintain a good relationship with Latin is due to fear towards the conflict in Europe, so from this it could be seen that Roosevelt is actually preparing for intervention to war and is seeking for ways to gain more support and Latin American is one of it. In addition in August 1935, Roosevelt had also signed the Neutrality Act; a law that was designed to keep the United States out of a possible European war by banning shipment of war materiel to belligerents at the discretion of the President. This is important as despite aware of the rise of totalitarism, Roosevelt didn t challenger over the congress over on the neutrality act and was willing to follow his good neighbor policy for the purpose of avoiding USA entanglements in the 1930s as Americans had been frightened by the tragic of war as memories of the First world War were still ... • 4. Horror Film Analysis Horror Essay Horror films are movies that aim to elicit a strong physiological reaction in the viewer, such as raised heartbeat and fear. Three horror films by the names of Psycho, Scream and The Messengers will be analysed and compared to an episode of the popular children s show Shaun the Sheep. Five elements will be addressed in this analysis, those being camera techniques, Mise en scene, Editing, Lighting and Sound. In all of the previously mentioned films, there are a range of camera techniques being utilized to their advantage. In the horror film Psycho, they use extreme close ups to help show emotions or to add drama. Point of View filming is also common in all three of the films, as POV can make the viewer feel more engaged and being able to see what the victim in the film can see adds an element of fear that wouldn t be able to be achieved if everything was shot in 3rd person. For example, in Scream, it is often filmed in the Point of View of the victim who is being stalked and later killed by the antagonist and shows things such as the girls boyfriend tied to a chair or the killer running through her house. Another technique that is used in these films is Mise en scene. Mise en scene is the arrangement of everything that appears on screen, such as the actors, props and costumes. In the movie Scream, the characters wear outfits to make their roles obvious. The girl s boyfriend is wearing a highschool jersey which shows who he is quite easily and the killer is ... The orphaned son of Texas sharecroppers, he enlisted at age 18 and went on to win two dozen military medals for valor, including the Congressional Medal of Honor. After the war Murphy parlayed his war time fame into a career as a movie actor, song writer, and business man. After that, he tried the paratroopers, but they said he didn t have the right kind of build for the job. So finally, he was forced to settle with the United States Army. After he was enlisted, he was sent to Camp Wolters, Texas, for basic training. During a session of close order drill, he passed out! His grumpy company commander tried to have Audie transferred to a cook and bakers school because he thought Audie was too young and weak, but Murphy persisted on becoming a combat soldier. Finally, after 13 weeks of basic training, he was sent to Fort Meade, Maryland for advanced infantry training. Audie Murphy still had a lot of trouble and had to fight the system to get overseas and into actual combat. But he was very persistent and his persistence finally paid off, and in early 1943, he was shipped to Casablanca, Morocco in Africa as a replacement in Company B, 1st Battalion, 15th Infantry Regiment (United States), 3rd Infantry Division. • 6. The Taagic Story of Dolphin Mistreatment Ever since I was young, I was always fond of the ocean. The waves that the sea created intriqued me and the animals that lived underwater were even more unbelievable. I found the dolphin to be extremely fascinating. Since the first time I saw one while surfing at my local beach, Manly, I was hooked. What I didnt know was the horiffic story behind those playful creatures I saw at aquariums every year. Whether it be on a primary school excursion or a family outing with my family to the aquarium, those happy looking creatures beyond the glass where no more than abused animals living a nightmare. So where did they come from? After much research, I found that the countries contributing most to dolphin killing where located in Asian countries in particular Japan. As you can see in the following chart showing whaling distribution throughout the globe, Japan is a hotpot for dolphin hunts. Because the dolphins can be sold to marine parks and butchers across the country for such good money, fisherman in the Region of Taiji (an area with large influxes of marine mammals), kill them annually. Other regions such as Guinea and other Pacific Islands have openly admited that Japan had been financially aiding them to undertake dolphin kills. Whats most appauling is the way in which the dolphins are killed. The Tiaji Fishing Cooperative in southeastern Japan have put numerous efforts into methods that kill the dolphin quickest in the hope that more killings means more profit. The ... The last time that the color line was openly broken in Major League Baseball was in 1880. This was a huge deal. African American fans would start attending Dodger games just to see Jackie play. Introduction: For many decades, Japan is well known as a dominant country conducting whaling practices for many purposes such as obtaining whale meat and oil (Facts about Japan, n.d.). Whaling has been one of the most important industry in Japan since the WW II post war that provides huge amount of protein and helps fed Japanese citizens (Animal Planet, n.d.). It is believed that the coastal villages were where hunting whales was first claimed to take place in shore with hand thrown harpoons, but it was not the main interest of many people (Whalingmuseum, n.d.). It was not until the 17th century that whaling industry had a dramatic development due to an invention of hunting in groups of boats using net technique (Facts about Japan, ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... 1. Social: It is evident that whaling practices can lead to a reduction in the population of whales, ecosystem degradation, and even cause the species to the brink of extinction (International Whaling Commission, n.d.). The main factors causing the problem are over exploitation, disturbance from whaling vessels, entanglement in fishing gears, and environmental factors (International Whaling Commission, n.d.). According to the WDC (n.d.), more than 36,700 whales were killed after the 1986 moratorium in which Japan accounted for nearly 20,000 whales. The International Whaling Commission (n.d.) reported that the common whales hunted by Japanese, which are Minke, Fin, Sei, Sperm, Bryde s and Humpback whales, were severely exploited and depleting in terms of population in the Japanese whaling grounds before the 1986 moratorium. In addition, the operation of whaling fleets apparently causing noise pollution affecting the communication process of whales and other marine species as well (Lian Lu, n.d.). Whales are one of the top level animals in the marine food chain, therefore, a decline in whale population definitely have an impact on the marine ecosystem. Lian and Lu (n.d.), have said that whale s dead body is a great source of food for the marine animals in a lower depth of the ocean. Thus, the more whales killed by whaling practices, the less food for others sea creatures and organisms (Lian Lu, n.d.). Also, nutrients in ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Later we enter university and live with the desire of to find a good job and to make a better life. Do we do these things, because we really want it? In fact, this is just expectations of society that most people think they should follow. Albert Camus, philosopher and writer, claims that with living almost the same lives with others and with following the society we just repress ourselves. In his essay The Myth of Sisyphus , he acknowledges that person can be free with accepting the Absurd. However, the absurd man is determined to reject all of these expectations on him. The only freedom the absurd man can know is the freedom he experiences: the freedom to think and to act as he chooses. The Guest of the Albert Camus, follows the story of Daru. He is a schoolteacher who lives on a remote plateau. We see from the beginning of the story that Daru lives alone but he does not feel lonely. He is even grateful for his solitude and for living in the cruel desert. One day Daru watches two men approach his schoolhouse. One of the men was Balducci, a friend of Daru and he leads an Arab prisoner who has been accused of murdering his cousin. • 11. Gun Control And Mass Shootings Gun Control In the course of history gun control and mass shootings has always been an issue, but much too often, history has been being made. Gun control is an understatement for what actually is being implemented. The process to get a gun, for example, a rifle, is all too easy. Let me personally walk you through this gruesome process . First, you walk into the store, second you pick your desired weapon, third you walk to the cashier to do a background check, finally you buy the gun. The hardest part about that process was choosing the actual weapon you want. With little gun control comes more mass shootings, and with more control comes less mass shootings. Another common saying by those who believe taking away weapons is a bad thing is, taking away guns will cause more criminal activity. Every armed robbery taken place the victim has 91% of the time was wielding a single type of weapon, for example a gun. As I sit here researching the topic on mass shootings and deaths in the U.S. a breaking news article popped up on my screen. In Texas today, November 5, 2017, 27 people were killed and 30 were injured. I would normally be in shock how someone can do such a thing to innocent moms, dads, kids, teens, and infants. But with the world we are living in now there are no surprises to me anymore with the recurring gun violence. It s as if there is a contest to gain entry to the top mass shootings in U.S. history because this one in Texas has made it in. Exactly a month ago the Las Vegas shooting was taken place becoming the deadliest shooting ever recorded in U.S. history and this now being 4th in that list. Being the greatest country in the world I would think someone would have the common sense to realize guns are the issue not the people wielding them. Previously stated above among the 52,000 shooting incidents this year only about 1,700 was reported for defensive use, leaving the rest assumed to be in acts of violence. The number of deaths recorded this year for our U.S. soldiers reaches 6,903, while American citizens reach 13,136 with gun violence. With these facts being put on paper it ... Multiple barriers in the process were readily identified and the team would meet on a bi weekly for several months to discuss each process step and decided on countermeasures. An example of one risk recognized was an interruption in the ECG data recorded between the emergency department and the data recorded in the telemetry units. This step revealed a possible loss of data and possible incorrect patient identification of data upon arrival to the unit. The solution was to involve clinical engineering to create a seamless record for recording the cardiac ECG rhythms from the emergency room to the inpatient bed. History of the Issue The issue of building desalination plants has been a hot topic of Californians in the past couple decades because researchers knew that our available surface and groundwater supplies are becoming scarce. This problem is important because California is home to a large population of people as well as extensive agricultural and industrial productions that need vast amounts of water. With the reduction in available ground and fresh water brings other problems that need to be addressed. Many farmers are having to impose stricter management policies in regards to how they use the water the pay so much for. Crops sensitive to the amount of water they receive or do not receive can be destroyed in a short amount of time if neglected of water. With the amount of fresh water accumulated by both snow melt of California s mountains as well as ground water retrieved from wells and pumps being depleted faster than we can recharge those sources, farmers face further impacts. Willy is trapping himself from achieving success. In his head, success is thought as the same by everyone else in the society, to be rich, have kids, and a house. The reason why Willy himself can t achieve it, is because of the things in his life happening around him that makes his mind think differently. For example, his two sons. Willy had thought highly of them back when they were younger, especially Biff because they were both hotshots at their high school. Even Biff admits that his dad pressured him to much to do well in school, which led him to getting nowhere in life saying Biff: I stole myself out of every good job since high school! Willy: And whose fault is that? Biff: And I never got anywhere because you blew me so full of hot air I could never stand taking orders from anybody! That s whose fault it is! Willy: I hear that! Linda: Don t, Biff! (131). This conversation Willy had with Biff had changed his mindset on how he raised his child, he once thought he was motivating his sons but it ended up making his sons so pressured to not end up doing anything with their life. It s an on going debate for the conclusion to his faith although we won t be able to ever prove exactly what his beliefs were since he never made a profession, there are many facts leading to his belief in a personal savior. Despite his firm belief in God, proved by the references to God and the Bible in the Second Inaugural Address, some say that he was just trying to please the audience even though what he said is not what the people wanted to hear (Calhoun and Morel). James Smith said that he was inclined to believe that Lincoln was a skeptic but unlike most skeptics, he was a constant reader of the Bible (Lind, 51). The Founding Fathers instituted a mechanism in the Constitution that allowed it to be amended, based upon the shifting needs of the nation. A constitution that could not bend would surely break, in the Founders view. However, to ensure that the Constitution was not amended frequently, with the whims of the moment, the amendment process was rendered extremely difficult. The constitution is the organic law of the state because it organizes the government and establishes the great principles upon which a state or nation is founded. A constitution, like the foundation of a house, determines the basic shape, but not the details, of that which stands upon it (Miller 2008). For the states of the union that make up the larger whole of America, there is a similar need to ensure that constitutions are responsive to constituent s needs. States, given their small size and desire to provide local services to citizens, have perhaps even more of a need to bestow individualized attention, as the needs of residents shift and change. But state constitutions are far more limited in their scope: The U.S. Constitution represents the states granting limited powers to the federal government, while state constitutions represent the limit of powers that the people have granted to their state governments.... Preparing children for a leadership role in this world also requires that we take into account individual micro and macro differences, celebrate those differences, and view the family as assisting in any way possible the positive relationship of the community, the schools, and other resources to help those children actualize (Hareven, 1991; Berman, 2010). • 38. Shakespeare s Comedy of Errors Shakespeare s Comedy of Errors Comedy of Errors is one of Shakespeare s first plays. The minor characters, in the play, Egeon and the Duke, set up the framework of the play. Egeon, at the request of the Duke, describes his adventures and relates his life story. This provides the history of The Comedy of Errors, and helps keep track of the confusion, which unfolds during the play. There are several themes that Shakespeare uses which are only loosely related to the actual comedy. The conflicts between burden and freedom, rule and compassion, loss and rebirth all form a critical undertone within the play. There is also the serious effect time. Shakespeare requires that all the action end at five o clock, the time of Egeon s execution, ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The Duke also stands to increase possible return by sentencing Egeon to death. His pardon of Egeon at the end of the play is supposed to indicate that he has not only learned to pardon, but has overcome his selfishness by having him turn down the ransom which Antipholus offers. The play also centers on chance or coincidence. This actually relates to the title, since Error comes from the Latin word translating to wander. The play is really about wandering, and characters trying to find their true identities. Another theme prominent throughout the play is in the phrase, drop of water. quot; Antipholus first uses the phrase to describe himself, since he views himself as a drop of water, which is trying to find another drop in the vast ocean of mankind. In this case he is referring to his search for his lost brother and father. Later, Adriana uses the same language when referring to her husband, and compares their division similar to separating water. The phrase stands for a joining of two people, and implies an intimate bond. The use of twins in The Comedy of Errors is not necessarily essentially entertaining. A further theme that is constantly appearing in the play is that of repression versus freedom. Beginning with the first scene, Egeon is bound and sentenced; the theory of binding people is made obvious. It continues with Adriana, who asks her sister why men have more freedom than their wives. This finishes in the end scenes where ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

My parents, who emigrated from Ireland to the States with my three brothers in 1989, brought over their own Celtic folklore and traditions that have helped shaped the way our family operates and lives. One aspect of folklore that has helped shape my family dynamic is the Celtic cross both its background and what role it has played in our lives. With the help of other immigrants and traditions that have been passed on, this piece of folklore has become a symbol of both Christianity and womanhood in my family. As is tradition, my mother would give each of my sisters a Celtic cross when she made her communion. This ritual extends beyond my immediate family due to our unusually large numbers: while my grandmother is one of eight children, both my mother and I are one of nine. While these strange familial patterns have never been properly explained, they have created a great way for the bond of the women in each family to go much further. Since almost all of my extended family still lives in Ireland, the cross is a consoling connection to my aunts and grandmother who have upheld the tradition. It is also a powerful example of how folklore changed and adapted from Ireland to the United States (particularly to my family). Both this and the giving of the Celtic cross have created a significant tradition that we were able to maintain when we came to the United States. Although the Celtic cross became fashionable as a cemetery marker in Victorian Dublin around the 1860s, it is still an important part of my religious and familial life (Thuente, 56).
