2. Age and gender
I can see from my results that the majority of the age group that this will appeal to
is ages between 16-20. This could be a biased result because of the fact that
these questionnaires were handed out in school and so most of the people are
the same age. I found that 15 people that filled out the questionnaire were
female and so this will help me because I know that the majority of the
audience is female I will be able to produce my magazine style to fit the
audience.

the magazine colour scheme to be a dark shade and so I will be following the
results given to appeal to the audience so they will buy the magazine.
7. What is the ideal price for a rock
magazine?
The price that I will be using for my rock magazine will be an average

This will help me to decide how often I should publish my music magazine, for
example there is no point in publishing it weekly if the majority of the audience said
that it should published monthly because then no one would buy the magazine every
week. The majority of the audience did opt for the magazine to be published monthly
and so i will be taking on this feedback when producing my music magazine.

Bands/singers mentioned
Rihanna Swans
Beyoncé The 1975
Drake The Rolling Stones
Rainbow Bullet for Valentines

Nick Cave Selena Gomez
Nirvana Jamie T
Fidlar David Bowie
These results will help me get an idea of what type of music the audience
usually listens to and I will be able to incorporate this into my magazine,
for example some rock bands are listed and so I could include these bands
into the magazine cover lines.
11. What bands/singers have you heard of from the rock genre?
Bands/singers from the rock genre named by the audience
Foo Fighters Iron Maiden
Kings of Leon Nickelback
Linkin Park The Cult
Black Sabbath Swans

This will help me when producing my magazine as I will be able o include some of these
bands in my cover lines and because they are known and familiar to the audience it
encourages them to buy the magazine.
12. How often do you buy a magazine?

Weekly
Monthly
Yearly
Rarely
Although the results show that most people rarely buy a magazine more people
buy a magazine monthly than weekly or yearly and so this coincides with the idea
that more people think that a magazine should be published monthly and this is
why I will be publishing my rock magazine monthly.
13. What do you like about the magazines
that you buy?
A few of the things that have been mentioned about what people like on a
magazine are:
The masthead
Interviews
Reviews
Gig guides
The gossip
Freebies
Where the bands they liked are up to now
Retro stuff
Images
This will help in the production of my magazine as I will be able to include most
of these for example, the masthead will already be included and so will the
images. Therefore appealing to the audience so they will buy the magazine.
14. What do you dislike about the
magazines that you buy?
A few of the things that have been mentioned about what people
dislike on a magazine are:
Adverts
Irrelevant stories
Too much text
High prices
Images
Too many cover lines
This will help in the production of my magazine as I will be able to
avoid some of these therefore appealing to the audience so they
will buy the magazine. For example I will be pricing my magazine
so that it is not too expensive and I will not include irrelevant
stories or adverts, however, some of these are unavoidable for
example I will need to include images in my magazine.
15. Do you prefer more text than
images on a magazine?
0

20
More images More text
Number of people
The majority of the audience prefer more images than text and so when
producing my magazine I will make sure to include this feedback by adding
more images and not as much text that may be irrelevant to the magazine.
16. Do posters in a magazine appeal to
you?
Yes No
17 3
The majority of the audience said that posters do
appeal to them and so when producing my rock
magazine I will be including this feedback, for
example on my front cover I will be adding
buzzwords to advertise that there are posters inside
the magazine.
17. Would you prefer to see an interview with
a whole band or just one member?
Whole Band One Member Either
8 9 3
It was a close split between interviewing a whole band and
one member, however, more people chose only to interview
one member and so in my double page spread I will only be
containing an interview from one member of the band.
18. Conclusions
In conclusion, I will be using the research from my
questionnaire and the research I have conducted on
professional magazines to help me make my decisions on my
rock magazine. I have decided to use red, black and purple as
my colour scheme for my magazine, these will be of a dark
shade. The price of my magazine will be £3.00 as this the
average amount between the research found on my
questionnaire and the research of professional magazines.
My rock magazine will be published monthly as this was the
most voted for option. I will be advertising that there are free
posters in the magazine as this appealed to the majority of
the audience. My interview will be with one member of the
band as this is what the audience has mostly voted for.
