Task 7 Audience Research Questionnaire Graphs
What is your gender?
This quantitative data will give me the gender of my target audience for the
audience profile. As there are more females than males, I know that the
audience demographic for my magazine will be mainly females; thereforeI will
make my magazine more appealing to females in particular. As a result, my
rock magazine will subvertthe usual conventions of appealing to mainly males,
as the stereotypical rock magazinewill feature at least one male model on the
frontcover.

What is your age?
The graph shows thatall of the population that filled in my questionnaire were
between the ages of 16 and 18. However, my rock magazinewill be targeted at
students aged between 16 and 19. The data is unrepresentativeof my target
audience as I only asked a certain group of students at a particular time,
whereas if I would have asked at a differenttime in the same location, the
results would show somestudents ages 19, which would be more
representative of the demographic of my target audience. Therefore, I will be
aiming to makemy magazine appealing to students aged 16-19, who arein
college.

What is your ethnicity?
The quantitative data in the pie chartshows the majority of the target
audience are White British. This is stereotypical for a rock music magazine in
the UK to be targeted at White British people, as they are usually this ethnicity
of artists featured on the front cover, thereforeappealing to White British
people in particular as this is morerelatable to them. This data helps me to
decide the ethnicity of the models on the front cover will be White British in
order to makemy magazine appeal to the profile of the target audience.

Do you prefer to see a single person or a group of artists (eg a rock
band) on the front cover of a music magazine?
The data shown in this chart gives me an idea of whatinterests the target
audience, and how to make my magazinecapture their attention by making
the frontcover stand out to them. As shown above, the majority of the target
audience generally prefer to see a group of artists as models on the front
cover, and thereforefor my rock magazine I will feature more than one person
on the front cover. If this is done, I will create a good and intimate relationship
between my magazine and the target audience.

Do you like reading music magazines?
This question shows me that part of the lifestyle of my target audience profile
is reading music magazines, as this is shown to be an interest in every person
asked for my questionnaire. The lifestyle of the target is an important feature
of the profile due to the fact that the profile is what kind of person I am aiming
my magazineat, which will help me decide on factors that will appeal to them
more.

What content are you most interested in reading?
This qualitative data gives me an idea of the preferences of my target
audience, and shows mewhat content I should feature on the frontcover,
contents page and double page spread of my rock magazine. The most
significant answers areinterviews, reviews and posters, therefore, theseare
the mostpopular articles and content among students for rock magazines and
these contents will be featured in my magazine in order to appeal to the target
audience and make them wantto read the articles.

Do you have a part time or full time paying job?
The quantitative data above shows methat the demographic for the target
audience will not have income and thereforedisposableincome to spend on
magazines, and so this shows methat my magazine should be of a low price so
that the target audience can afford to purchaseit. Onemistake I made for my
questionnairewas not asking the population whatprice range they would
prefer to see a magazine at, as this would give me a good idea of a suitable
price to make my magazine. However, the data I have gathered fromthis
question also tells me that the profile of the target audience is of working
class, and so I will make the frontcover appeal to students of this class by
features such as font, images, colour scheme and so on.

How many music magazines do you buy in a month?
The data shows mehow many music magazines the target audience will buy in
a month on average. Clearly, if the majority of the target audience buys 1
magazine a month, as shown on the chart, this will mean that the audience
demographic are more drawn to monthly magazines, which tells me that my
magazine should havemonthly issues in order to appeal to the population.
Although I will only be creating a frontcover, contents page and double page
spread for one issue (the firstissue), my magazine would be a monthly
magazine if it was to be continued.

Which 3 artists/bands would you associate with rock music, who you
would like to see in a magazine?
The qualitative data gathered from the target audience shows mewhat rock
artists the target audience are the mostfamiliar with and interested in and so
in turn shows methe artists I should feature articles about in my magazine, in
order to keep the target audience interested in reading. The main article as the
main cover line and main image on the front cover will be a band that I will
create myself, however for the restof the content shown on the contents
page, I will feature the aboveartists in order to make my magazinewell

What 3 colours would you expect to see in a rock magazine?
This data gives me an idea of what the demographic target audience are drawn
to and expect to see in a typical rock magazine and therefore shows thatthe
target audience of college students aged 16-19 find black red and white to be
most associated with the representation of rock. This tells me that the colour
scheme for my magazineshould be bold and striking, justlike rock music is,
and should definitely include the colours red and black in order to appeal to
my target audience.
