how they appealed to their target audience and how I could do
the same.
RESEARCHED THE TARGET AUDIENCE FOR
‘WE <3 POP’ & ‘TOP OF THE POPS’
4. This helped me to make my magazine as I found out what the
expectations were for a pop magazine and this meant that I
was able to take on board what these expectations were and
was able to input this into my magazine.
I compared the similarities and differences between ‘We <3
Pop’ and ‘Top of the pops’ and from doing this I was able to
see how the different magazines used different techniques to
set out different parts of the magazine. This allowed me to
use a different range of techniques that each magazine used.

5. By looking into my chosen genre and doing research I was
able to make sure that everything that I was putting into my
magazine was suitable.
Also, I was able to find out what the characteristics of the pop
genre were e.g. bright colours. This meant that throughout my
magazine I was to use bright colours.
GENRE RESEARCH.
6. By looking at similar products, I had an idea of the different
layouts, fonts, images and styles that different pop magazines
use. Doing this allowed me to analyse the different products
and see which techniques/styles were most effective and
which techniques/styles were not as effective. This helped me
make my finial decision as to which techniques/styles that I
was going to use.
