Evaluation of my coursework so far



In my coursework so far, I have analysed music magazines, researched my
genre/publishing group and completed an audience research task along with a
focus group.

For Task 1, I had to analyse the front cover, contents page and double page
spread of a magazine. Tasks 2 and 3 were very similar to this and again meant I
had to analyse the conventions of a magazine. This was a really helpful task as
it helped me learn the original conventions of a music magazine. It also helped
me learn the key points that would interest certain target audiences and the
conventions that makes a magazine look appealing and eye-catching.

For Tasks 4, 5 and 6, I had to research a magazine publisher, look at various
magazines and research into my genre. This helped me to look further into the
conventions of a magazine while looking at the steps publishers make. This
task also helped me understand the story behind my genre of rock/indie.

For tasks 7 and 8, I had to complete a questionnaire for my target audience
and look at focus groups and the stereotypical target audience. This helped me
understand the kinds of material my audience want in the music magazine. It
will allow me to make my magazine be more interesting for the audience.
