- The target audience is music fans ages 17-28 and 32-45 who enjoy learning about artists' backgrounds and staying up-to-date on tour dates.
- Similar magazines like Q and Billboard will be references for their modern style and in-depth profiles of artists, but the proposed magazine aims to better cover festival fashion and upcoming tours.

This is a presentation by Dada Robert in a Your Skill Boost masterclass organised by the Excellence Foundation for South Sudan (EFSS) on Saturday, the 25th and Sunday, the 26th of May 2024.
He discussed the concept of quality improvement, emphasizing its applicability to various aspects of life, including personal, project, and program improvements. He defined quality as doing the right thing at the right time in the right way to achieve the best possible results and discussed the concept of the "gap" between what we know and what we do, and how this gap represents the areas we need to improve. He explained the scientific approach to quality improvement, which involves systematic performance analysis, testing and learning, and implementing change ideas. He also highlighted the importance of client focus and a team approach to quality improvement.
2. Genre
Genre
For my magazine I think my genre is going to be indie/
alternative.
This will include both well known but possibly
new artists. The reason I’m using this genre is
because of the fact I personally enjoy reading
about artists that are strong and independent
but, this will also attract an increased audience
as upcoming artists are likely to inspire to these
people. I also think the style of the genre will
attract a larger audience due to being so broad
but at the same time it will enable me to be
more varied when using my images as there isn’t
one specific look. A few artist’s I’m inspired by
are Ed sheeran,Adele,Amy Winehouse and the
band Oasis. Their image, and their music
alongside their backgrounds are factors that
appeal to me and therefore I’m going to include
their styles in my magazine. To continue, these
artist are the reason I’ve chosen this genre as not
only is there a gap in the market for this
magazine on shops shelves but also as it’s a genre
I personally enjoy making it something I think I
can recreate
The most important element in my opinion to making the
magazine of this genre is the design. This ranges from the
font to the images to the colours included. I feel the mis
on scene: makeup plays a big part as I feel this should
either be minimal or over the top to show who the artists
are. With the images I think you should perhaps show their
real backgrounds to indicate a narrative as just by looking
at it, it becomes something many can inspire to. Finally I
think the colours again should be minimal with a colour,
black and white just making the text that is important
prominent on the page. (It also gives the magazine a
professional look)O As the magazine may contain new
upcoming artists it’s essential the magazine get’s its name
across for the audience to remember to generate sales
but also focuses on it’s give a ways. To again attract a
larger audience to generate sales I think the magazine
shoud include gig review just because this fit’s perfectly
into my genre whilst having a large following.
3. Frequency
Frequency
Just like Q magazine I’m going to
publish my magazine monthly.
The reason I’m going to publish my
magazine monthly is because I
believe this will generate an
increase in sales. This is because It
allows the reader more time to
get the money for the magazine as
most companies get paid monthly.
In addition, the fact it’s monthly
means the magazine can be seen
more as a treat so the audience
aren’t seen to be ‘wasting
money’.
The fact I will be publishing my magazine
monthly means it will be of a higher
quality. By this I mean there will be lot’s
of exclusive stories jam packed with
information as we’ve had a lot of time to
find out the information with out the
magazine being rushed.Again, it will
therefore contain a lot more pages which
my audience are likely to prefer as my
audience will have more to read so the
magazine’s likely to last longer. Due to
this my magazine is likely to
automatically gain a better brand image
as it will be of a high quality making it
stand out from competitors. Finally, I
will be able to charge a premium price
for my magazine which will most likely
be £3.99.
4. Target Audience
Target Audience
Until I take all my images I can’t be
certain of my target audience in
terms of gender. Right now my
primary target audience is going to
be 17-28 (both genders even though
my magazine is going to be slightly
more (feminine.) Alongside super
fans of both the artists inside but
also music lovers who love the
magazine itself. My secondary target
audience is going to be 32-45 most
likely parents because they earn
money but also I will include some
older artists they’re likely to appeal
to for example a band like: Oasis who
appeal to a range of generations.
My target will benefit from
reading my magazine in
numerous ways. Firstly, they
can find out stories and keep on
track of their favourite artist
alongside their tour dates. In
addition because I’m bringing
my artist back to their reality
upcoming artists can use these
artists as an inspiration to get
to where they want to be. It
will entertain but also inform
which is likely to appeal to the
older generation. They will
finally benefit from reading my
magazine as they can gain the
chance of potentially meeting
their favourite artist making
their dreams complete.
5. Similar Magazines
Similar Magazines
The similar magazines to the
magazine I’m going to create is
both Q and billboard. This is
because I feel they focus on artists
who’ve made their own way for
example: Beyonce, Ed Sheeran and
Adele. They’re quite modern but
contain extremely high quality
images which is something I’m
focusing on. I like the fact the
magazine have a multi genre but
show the artists as who they are
for example: Ed sheeran being a
London busker.
One aspect I think the magazines lack is there
isn’t enough reference to tours: the dates. Also I
think there’s a gap they could feel by having the
perfect festival look. I think this would be perfect
as especially because Q is aimed at the older
generation it can guide parents to knowing what
is appropriate for their child to wear to a festival.
However they’re still very high quality magazines.
One thing I like about Q is the use of red showing
what’s important but also making it something
that stands out on the shelf. Also the little detail
such as the 100 greatest look but also the
message on the spine. I think I may use this idea
and adapt it to either peoples tweets or along
those lines. I like how Billboard is always unique
with a very strong masthead which you can see in
the images below. Finally this is an advantage as
its visually appealing but modern.
9. Publicity
Publicity
Publicity is essential to generating
any form of sales for my magazine
and due to my target audience
social media is perfect for this.
This is because I will link give
always such as meet and greet
tickets and having a tweet
published on my social media
sites. The benefit of this is it’s
cost affective with a large
audience a lot of the time music
lovers and it’s a way of a large
amount of people to see one post
and then re post it and give their
opinions.
Continuing on from give a ways I’m
going to promote this through out
my magazine along with my
magazines masthead. This is so my
brand automatically becomes
remembered. I’m going to
incorporate a website with my
magazine which perhaps goes into
more depth to my articles as well
as having a place they can sine up
to subscriptions for my magazine
for entertainment but to hopefully
increase sales.
10. Unique Selling Point
Unique Selling
Point
I know that unique selling points are essential to making a magazine stand out
on a page. Therefore I’m going to include little extra features to my
magazine. My main unique selling point is the fact I’m going to include a tweet
on the spine of the magazine or inside the magazine. To add this I’m going to
do my reviews from fans themselves. This is because it will likely attract a
wider audience as fans want the chance to be notice. At the same time this is
increasing the publicity of the magazine due to the fact my target audience
use social media on day to day basis which was proven in my survey results.
(Twitter being the second most popular)
