The document discusses the design and target audience of a music magazine the author created using InDesign. They took inspiration from magazines like Vogue and Elle to appeal to their target audience of 16-50 year olds who prefer fashion magazines. The magazine was designed to look sophisticated like these publications in order to attract and keep the interest of readers who enjoy viewing images over reading about music genres that may not interest them. Through the process, the author learned valuable skills in using InDesign and conducting audience research to inform the magazine's creation.
ESTE LIBRO ÁLBUM SE CARACTERIZA POR SER UN LIBRO EN EL CUAL LOS NIÑOS PUEDEN CREAR Y DISEÑAR, ADEMAS LO HICE CON MUCHO EMPEÑO PENSANDO EN MI HERMANITO.
1. Evaluation
My music magazine has different forms of conventions of real music magazines, like the double page spread has an interview inspired by Vogue magazine and their language and forms of register. The contents page and front cover also has an inspiration from Vogue, Elle and other classic and sophisticated magazine. One reason why I got my inspiration from Vogue and why I did my music magazine in a similar and inspired look is because, from my questionnaire and research is that most people within my target audience prefer to buy fashion looking magazines. Therefore, I would make the magazine look like a fashion and vogue style but have the contents of a music magazine. This will make sure that the audience is kept interested in reading the magazine.
My music magazine does really strongly represent a more posh sophisticated and well educated audience (The type of people that would buy and read Vogue and Elle magazines.) The reason for this is because there is a formal mode of register in the language and this music magazine is represented to a more educated audience rather than a wide magazine for any one. Because of this the niche audience will be much more challenging to get attention from. However, this would therefore make the music magazine a more challenging project to make, which is what I wanted.
I think that this magazine could be distributed in Vogue magazine, different local supermarkets and shops, For example, Waitrose, M&S, Tesco, WHSmith, John Lewis, and Debenhams. The reason for this is because my niche audience would mostly be shopping in these shops and supermarkets. These are also places where Vogue magazines and Elle magazine are found.
The audience for my music magazine would be teens of probably sixteen and over to about ages of fifty. So it is a broad age audience in a small niche group. Again, this is nearly the same as Vogues magazine.
I address and attracted my audience by the front cover image, by using appropriate terminology of buzz words, anchors and plugs and puffs that interest the audience. The contents page also has a nice and sophisticated look, which will tell them when looking on the contents page that this magazine is very much in style like Vogue, Elle and those more classy magazines. The graphology and photo on the front cover are all very much related looking to a classy and sophisticated look.
I have learned how to use inDesign and how to get a better idea of how magazines may make their research and get their ideas from when making their new issue for their magazine. I liked working on inDesign and I will probably continue to use it as often as possible. I used a lot different ICT technology and conventions, but inDesign was probably the most influential on me.
From the development of the Preliminary Task to the end of the making of my own music magazine in inDesign, I felt that I have really increased my ability and technique with different and various ICT and really thinking about what to write and how to write it in order to make my magazine look and seem really interesting in both, just flicking through but also read. Because as in my results from my questionnaire a lot of my audience answers like to just look at the images. This could have been because they are not interested in the music style. But if I could make the style of the magazine more fashion like then maybe it would be more interested and more fun, as this is what they like and they can relate it to their style. For example a fashion or gossip magazine often has an interview with a celebrity. Therefore I decided to make my double page spread an interview about the celebrity and the star that is on the front cover to talk about her way and story before and into fame.
