Saint Saëns Siege
Other performances at this time also have Saint Saëns performing in benefit of the Red Cross and later
in 1870 to wounded soldiers. His duties as a soldier were as much delineated in protecting Paris, the
subsequent active patriotism as they were in utilizing music as a means to inspire, and mend the
psychological wounds of warfare; the more subtle, but still active patriotic muscle.
Even with his descriptive indications of war and musical activities during the Siege, Saint Saëns does
not offer a more intricate blueprint regarding his Marche. For example, some pervasive questions arise
in regards to the repurposing of materials in his Cantate, such as: when exactly did the Cantate
material get transformed into the recognizable Marche? Additionally, ... Show more content on

A string of unsuccessful battles, backed by a lack of supplies, and untrained soldiers ultimately nudged
Jules Favre to agree to an armistice on January 27th 1871. Thus, concluding, the period of the Siege.
However, what is pivotal about the Siege is it demonstrated what the French thought was essential.
Amidst a deficit in supplies, and a losing war, music played an integral part in the livelihood of its
people. In the same respects, Saint Saëns s occupation as a soldier, musician, and composer acclimates
to this narrative of music as an integral piece, worshiping music even amongst instability. For France
and Saint Saëns, losing the war was the first of many painful experiences. In the final days before
Favre signed the armistice, a painful addition was added to the Marche Héroïque lineage; Saint Saëns
s friend, painter, and tenor, Henri Regnault (1843 1871) died. Regnault was fatally shot in the Battle of
Buzenval. According to Saint Saëns, he received his idea for his Requiem on the night Regnault had
fallen. As much, an invalidated story surrounds the composers refusal of nutrients or company for the
span of three days following the news of his friend. Regnault s death without a doubt sparked a great
sadness in the composer and in turn, added a painful dedicated of his Marche Héroïque to his memory.
The expenditures of the war for Saint Saëns certainly eroded any sense of normalcy for him or the rest
of France. Even with the eventual outcomes of the war that included the annexation of Alsace
Lorraine, and the death of his friend Henri Regnault, Saint Saëns conversely utilized the distress and
sadness of these events and elicited a creative fervor that produced an array of works, writings, and the
completion of an orchestral rendition of Marche

The Pros And Cons Of Socialitarianism
Different nation and states utilize unique economic philosophies to manage how limited resources are
allocated within their societies. The two most common of these are capitalism and socialism. Even
among these two prevailing schools of economic thought, which systems is emphasized can vary from
country to country. The United States has always favored strong forms of capitalism since its
inception, while China, the Eastern Bloc nations, and the former USSR have experimented with
extreme forms of socialism in their recent history. Western Europe, while favoring capitalism, has
implemented many socialistic policies to achieve a middle ground between the two. Within said
nations, citizens often directly align their preference of economic thought to a blind patriotism to his
or her native land s policies, without a cogent understanding of how such policies work or don t work.
Such dogmatism can be mitigated by under taking a careful examination of both systems pros and
cons.
The central paradigm in capitalistic economies is that government has a minimal role deciding what,
how, and when to produce goods. They trust in Adam s Smith s invisible hand to allow people s self
interest and the ensuing laws of supply and demand to determine the cost of goods and services.
Moreover, vacuums in the potential market are entrusted to entrepreneurs to spot and fill, without
governmental interference.
By allowing individuals to pursue their self interests, capitalism provides strong

The Electoral College System Is Not Effective
If I had the opportunity to change the Constitution of the United States of America, I would change the
Electoral College system. Like many other Americans, I feel that the Electoral College system is not
effective. It caries a notion of the state versus the people, electors oversee a large part of the country
and is change the answer to this issue? I believe that times have changed and we need to reform the
electoral system all while not changing the constitution.
The Constitution of the United States of America created a system called the Electoral College where
it outlines the rules in which we elect the President of the United States of America. As stated in
Article 2, Section 1 of the U. S. Constitution created the Electoral College. Each state receives as
many electoral votes as it has senators and representatives. Therefore, each state, including the District
of Columbia, will have at least three electors. This is the vision of the Constitution. Now the problem
arises when all the Electoral votes from one state are given to the popular winner for that state. This
causes a with people s right to chose their leader as votes of the people that voted for the losing
candidate are tossed in the trash. All this while giving the state the ultimate power to elect the
president.
The people of the loosing party on the state votes are not worth anything they are just given to the
winner basically with the current electoral system. The system needs to be redesigned to

Comparing The Economic And Cultural Benefits Of...
Introduction
Background and Significance:
The goal of this action research project is to contrast and compare the economic and cultural benefits
of multigenerational households in the Midwest of USA since the economic downturn. This research
will focus on multigenerational households of families attending the Southern Illinois University
Edwardsville (SIUE) Belleville Head Start Center . The families at this particular Head Start are
diverse, young parents with low income and other factors that fit the criteria for this project. The
center s population would have the perfect variables and characteristics for my project. The project
would include information on the economic and cultural aspects of different racial/ethnic groups, elder
care, single parents, immigrants, black and Hispanics who live in multigenerational homes. The
multigenerational families have become a growing topic of interest. Multifamily households are
defined by the U.S. Census as family households consisting of three or more generations (U. S.
Census Bureau, 2012).
The purpose of this project is to investigate how beneficial it is to families to live in a
multigenerational family household. For over twenty years, I have worked with these families and it
has been a vital balance to create stability for the family and directly impacted the child. I will use the
findings of this action research project to better assist my families to reach a level of self sufficiency.

Dakota Access Pipeline Protest Movement
Dakota Access Pipeline Protest Movement Introduction Civil societies are voluntary social institutions
and organizations that are separate from the government and the market where a community of
citizens are able to come together and pursue their shared common interest. They are beneficial to the
community as well as the broader society as civil societies ultimately promote progressive policies,
nurture positive social norms that encourage stability, and advocates accountability and checks against
state authority (Edwards 2010). Moreover, civil societies represent a third sphere of association where
citizens are able to address the deficiencies that the state and market fail to handle and then have the

social role, deals with nurturing positive social norms that can foster stability. In addition to teaching
people skills of good citizenship that will allow for maintaining social ties in an impersonal modern
world (Edwards 2010). Overall, all of this three roles are reflected in the Dakota Access Pipeline
protest movement as the community demonstrates the three main concepts throughout their civil
society. Firstly, the social movement demonstrates the economic role by trying to secure the livelihood
of the Sioux tribe by protesting for the protection of their primary water source essentially protesting
for the right (and necessity) to water without worries of damage from oil spills because of the pipeline.
Thus, the protest movement reflects the economic role of civil society as its main concern is with the
health and welfare of the 10,000 Native Americans that live on the reservation and whose primary

Introduction to Soccer Essay
Soccer is a popular sport played all over the world. Even though it has only been popular in the United
States for the past 30 years, soccer has been a long time favorite most everywhere else. The sport dates
back to the Egyptians, who played games involving the kicking of a ball. Now, the sport has grown to
a global pastime, including men s and women s teams, and the World Cup (which is played every four
years). Soccer originated with kicking games played by people in ancient civilizations. The modern
version came about in the early nineteenth century, in England. It started as a game involving kicking
and handing, but later this branched off into two separate sports: rugby and football (which is what the
English call soccer). Around ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
In addition to the field itself, all that is needed for a game is two goals (eight feet high and eight yards
apart) and a ball. Each player wears hard plastic or padded shingaurd, covered by long socks, for
protection during play. Cleats are also worn for traction on the field. A goalie may also wear a special
padded shirt, and gloves to protect his or her hands. A standard field, as regulated by the Federation
Internationale de Football Association (or FIFA), has a length between 100 and 130 yards, and a width
of between 50 and 100 yards. The rules of play for soccer have deliberately been kept simple. The
referee makes most of the decisions, and attempts to encourage fair play. The game starts off with a
kick off, and the teams are allowed to pass, dribble, juggle, head, kick, and shoot the ball to place it
down the field, and (hopefully, or eventually) into their opponent s goal. If the ball is kicked off the
field over the length of the field, the other team is given a throw in, where the ball is thrown over the
player s head, and back onto the field. If the ball is kicked over the goal, or across the width of the
field, either a corner kick results (by the offensive team, where the ball is placed on the corner of the
field and kicked into play) or the defensive team is awarded a goal kick, where the ball is placed on
the corner of the goal box, and kicked back into play. If a goal is scored, the ball is taken back to the

Durrenmatt Hero
Swiss author and dramatist, Friedrich Durrenmatt, in his play The Visit, depicts the character Alfred Ill
through the literary technique pathos as the work projects his unfortunate downfall. By portraying
Alfred Ill dynamically, Durrenmatt s purpose is to accentuate his tragic fate and highlight the qualities
he possesses similar to a tragic hero in Greek Literature. Durrenmatt creates a sympathetic feeling
towards Alfred Ill in order to alter the reader s feelings towards him even though he is fully
responsible for his own downfall.
In Act 1, the main characters of the play become known. One mentioned in the introduction, Mr.

Alfred Ill s downfall finally plummets to the ending result and the reader s emotions are exercised
heavily. The town has finally come to the decision to murder Alfred Ill once and for all. Even family,
town officials, and Ill s closest friends turned against him. The reader feels sympathetic towards Ill
even though he is fully responsible for what he did in the past ones feels as if he does not deserve such
punishment. After days of perpetual paranoia Mr. Alfred Ill is accepting of his fate. This is a very
gloomy part in the play because the reader is still emotionally sympathetic towards Alfred Ill knowing
of his past mistake. The mayor asks Ill: Will you respect our decision concerning the acceptance of
rejection of the Claire Zachanassian Endowment? Alfred Ill responds with I respect it. Although quite
sugar coated, this means that Alfred Ill is to be put to death so the city of Gullen can accept Claire
Zachanassian s money. This quote shows the fact that Ill has accepted his unfortunate fate caused
entirely due to his own actions. The fact that Alfred Ill didn t put up a fight and merely stood in
acceptance causes the reader to feel pity. This is a solemn part for Ill and the reader. This party in the
play as a whole represents Ill at his time of death and lowest point. The reader can make the
comparison of Alfred Ill s character from the beginning of the play till the end and feel pity. As

When William married 17 year old Orrville native Margaret on October 15, 1917, he was like his dad
a railway section man in Falding. Indeed, 3 out of the 5 boys Milo and Eliza had would at some time

resided in Gordon Bay on Lake Joseph. There they fell so ill of the Spanish Flu that sister Ethel had to
temporarily take up residence with them in Mid June of 1919 to see them through. As William gained
experience he moved down the line to Washago as a RR foreman. The son now lived in the first place

Section Of 1 Corinthians 12-13 In The Harpercollins Study...
The first section of the note on 1 Corinthians 12:12 13 in the HarperCollins Study Bible leads the
reader to contemplate the issue of unity in the body of Christ, the lack of which is arguably the origin
of most, if not all of the issues facing the Corinthian church. The Christians in Corinth were
challenged with several internal problems, many of which could have been solved by the members
seeking unity in their diversity. Paul introduces the idea that the church should function as the body of
Christ, valuing the abilities and roles that God chose for each member. The first part of the note states,
Like certain other ancient writers, Paul regards the human body as illustrating the point that unity and
diversity are not incompatible, applying ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The Corinthians had a way of self praise and boasting over their superior actions. They would speak in
tongues and prophecy in public not to benefit others who are in attendance but, in Paul s view, simply
to elevate themselves in the eyes of others (Bart Ehrman, A Brief Introduction to the New Testament,
p. 228). In 1 Corinthians 12, Paul lists the variety of gifts that various members of the church possess,
saying that the Spirit has assigned each gift to each individual. Paul wants the Corinthians to
understand that God has given the individuals in the community distinctive roles and gifts that, when
used appropriately, better the church as a whole. To emphasize the importance of unity in the church,
Paul writes, For just as the body is one and has many members, and all the members of the body,
though many, are one body, so it is with Christ (1 Cor 12:12). Paul shows how each member of the
church has imperative value, just as each part of the body is essential for it to work properly. The
Corinthians problem of boasting would fade away as soon as they acknowledge that there is value in
the diversity of the members of the church. God placed each person in the role that He intends for
them to fill and everyone must recognize His placement. Greater than all other gifts is the gift of love.
Love is crucial because it builds up the community and strengthens every believer, regardless of their
differences. Paul stresses that the most excellent gift is love, writing If I speak in the tongues of
mortals and of angels, but have not love, I am a noisy gong or a clanging cymbal. And if I have
prophetic powers, and understand all mysteries and all knowledge, and if I have all faith, so as to
remove mountains, but have not love, I am nothing (1 Cor

Alpine Lodge Research Paper
On the side of the road along route 33 in Alpena, WV sits the Alpine Lodge. The Alpine Lodge opened
up in 1939 as a hunting and fishing lodge and came to be because of a man named Adam Thomas
Dahmer. Adam and his wife Julia owned a business in Glady and a store and post office in Bemis.
Adam had his heart set on building a business in Alpena so he purchased the Park Collett Farm
sometime in the 1920 s; this was to become the home of the Alpine Lodge.
Adam Dahmer died in 1942 from a massive heart attack while walking in the snow to the Alpine
Lodge. His wife Julia continued to operate the Lodge well into her eighties and did all of the baking
for the lodge until her last days. At ninety, Julia had help from her daughter Lorraine Burke in the
daily business of the Lodge. Julia Dahmer died at the age of 104 years old. Her daughter Lorraine
continues to supervise the Lodge at the age of ninety three years old. She gave the ownership of the
Lodge to her son Mark Lynn Burke years earlier but Lorraine continues to work there as her mother

Reading For The Emotional Level
1.) Introduction Such readers respond first of all, and sometimes only, to their reading on an emotional
level; the work affects them, producing joy or revulsion, laughter or tears, anxiety or elation (Page
xxvii). I use to not analyze works because I would think that this factor would alleviate the experience
of reading books. I still think that analyzing books as a piece of work instead of reading for the
emotional level somewhat takes the joy out of the experience. However, it only brings a different type
of joy to reading. If not on the emotional level, readers can enjoy tying the similarities of one story to
another. Piecing the different parts of characters and plots that resemble another story gives more
insight to both ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Although, I never summed that process up as in this chapter. Readers gain experience and knowledge
throughout their life, then they put this knowledge to use when they encounter a story. Looking for
matching themes and archetypes helps give a story depth. However, not everyone has the same
experiences, that s what making a connection to a book is so unique. This example is from a small
story that can equate to one of the Knight in Shining Amour tales. When I read a poem or story, I can
mostly relate it other stories such as the example shown. This process helps to show a greater
resonance and meaning to the story and gives the story another tale to be compared and contrasted
against. Although I did notice some similarities in literature, I never made it a habit of looking for
them. This chapter has explained the process and helped me to notice how those similarities help
literature. 175

The Writers Of The Television
Since the creation of the television, thousands of sitcoms have been created. Most spend a few years
on the air and are quickly forgotten after they have ended. Very few TV shows paved the way for what
television is today and, after spending ten years on the air, Friends is one of those few. Friends was so
groundbreaking because of its unique writing, its cast chemistry, and its ability to resonate with the
people in its era. Friends consists of six friends, Joey, Chandler, Ross, Rachel, Monica, and Phoebe,
living in New York and discovering themselves. The writers of the show were able to do something
extremely rare in television; they created an ensemble cast of six main characters. No one person
played a larger role then the others ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The writing of the series played a large role in making it so iconic but making it even more iconic was,
perhaps, it s ensemble. The chemistry, or lack there of, between cast members has been the downfall
of many television series, but that was never a problem for Friends. Not only was each actor perfect
for his or her character, but each actor was also perfect for each other. The show worked best when all
six characters were on the screen. If, for example, Joey had a date, it was rarely shown on screen.
Instead, what was shown was the six friends discussing the date after the fact. Many supporting
characters, such as love interests, were written off because it seemed as if they somehow go in the
way. Monica and Chandler both had many love interests and yet, they ended up marrying each other.
All ten seasons consisted of the same cast, and no one ever got tired of seeing the same six faces on
their TV screen. During season one each cast member was making a different salary but by the end of
the season they were negotiating their pay to be equal, which was unprecedented at the time. The
chemistry was so great that it spilled over into their real lives. All six cast members remain close
friends to this day. Jennifer Aniston is the godmother to Courtney Cox s daughter and while each has
gone on to star in other television series, they will still frequently appear on each other s show.

Milk Film Analysis
Milk, directed by Gus Van Sant, had a strong impact on he as a viewer. This documentary/drama film
goes through Harvey Milks process in becoming San Francisco s first openly gay Supervisor. The film
gives a great reenactment of the troubles and hardships him and his followers faced before, during,
and after his election. Not only does this film focus in Milk s process to Supervisor, but it also pays
much attention to gay rights and their fight during this time as well. Milk worked hard to win his title,
but sadly his victory was short lived. A year after winning his title he was murdered by ex Supervisor,
Dan White. This film was very interesting to watch and it showed me how powerful Harvey Milk s
actions were. In the beginning of the film when you first met Milk, you saw that he was just any other
guy that you d see on the streets. With the way he portrayed himself, I thought he would never win
any type of election. He had a nappy, long ponytail, and dressed himself like a hippie. When he lost

their sexuality, Milk brought the community together. He showed everyone in his community that
being different was okay. In my opinion, Harvey Milk being gay, had nothing to do with his
assassination. Dan White was angry that he was no longer welcome on the Board, so he took matters
into his own hands. If Milk happened to be straight, I feel that White still would ve shot him dead. If
Milks murder was because he was gay, the mayor may not have been

Summary Of The Pink Panther
Jeff Koons s Pink Panther is a piece of art that portrays an entertained, bare breasted lady, attired in a
green dress. Her head tilts backward in a posture appearing as if she is talking to people around her.
She is modeled after the former Hollywood star, Jayne Mansfield. Additionally, the Pink Panther, a
famous cartoon character, calmly rests on the left shoulder of Mansfield while wearing a hapless
expression. Both figures were mass market and pop culture knickknacks when the sculpture was
created. The work itself marked a crucial period of transformation in Koons s work and style. His
creations became brighter, bigger, and more startlingly cheerful. Koons surprised the public by his
brief realism and his resoluteness to depict the contemporary social and cultural situation. His work
could be understood as complex perspective on the present time. The image of the couple is
gratifyingly sophomoric. It depicts the lust for an object, which is accompanied by ingenuous
sentimentality. In general, the sculpture pinpoints everything Koons regards erroneous in the modern
American popular culture. Furthermore, the artwork portrays the way how people conduct themselves
in their daily activities and presents their common values and attitude to life. For instance, the
sculpture can be related to the problem of women s rights. Although the lady is utterly sexualized and
objectified, it is done in a vulgar way of a kitsch, which makes a viewer to think about the status of
woman in the modern society. In addition, utilizing recognizable celebrities as a selling point could be
considered a type of self irony and reflection on the contemporary status of art. Finally, the Pink
Panther blurs the difference between an art object and a piece of everyday culture and entertainment.
In this regards, it stands out from other works of postmodernism.

whether or not global warming and climate change exist. According to the CATO article, Climate
Change vs. Climate Models (Michaels and Knappenberger, 2013), The models estimate of the increase
in temperature resulting from a doubling of carbon dioxide concentration may simply be too high. As
questioned in the article, is there such thing as climate change? Next, if climate change does exist, are
carbon emissions a relevant cause of such a phenomena? With all of these questions at hand, how do
we deal or cope with the current environmental state through economic means? Does climate change
exist? According to the U.S. Global Research Program (USGRP), climate change does exist. Not in
the sense of immediate and drastic changes in the climate, but a gradual fluctuation in temperatures
that have been gathered since the early 1900 s. The empirical data that has been gathered shows a
steady increase in the mean maximum temperature recorded in the Canadian Climate Change Model
which is the basis on the 2000 U.S. National Assessment of Climate Change. The original model
generated had a sine like pattern with a .342°C difference between the highest crest and lowest trough.
This was then proven an unworthy model when the actual empirical data was recorded with a .169°C
difference. There was

Australian Coastal Beaches Analysis
Coastal engineering is an increasing field of importance due to the growing population in coastal areas
and the trend of moving to coastal communities. Currently over 90% of Australians live within the
narrow and dynamic coastal fringe (Mariani Turner 2013). Approximately one half of the Australian
coastline consists of sandy beaches and it is projected that they will be the worst impacted by the
predicted global warming (Cooke et al. 2013). Increasingly, sandy beaches are being squeezed
between rising sea levels and extreme weather events on the seaward side and coastal infrastructure on
the landward side (Cooke et al. 2013). Erosion, accretion and retreat are all naturally occurring
environmental processes, however coastal development has

Modern Day Sir Thomas More (Script Essay)
Wilshire Boulevard
Two friends are driving in a late model Toyota Corolla across Los Angeles on Wilshire Boulevard.
ROBERT: Where are we going?
DAVE: I don t know. I thought we would just drive along Wilshire.
ROBERT: Why?
DAVE: I don t know. I thought it would be fun. Have you ever driven along Wilshire before? Except
to go from point A to point B?
ROBERT: No.
The two friends drive along in silence. ROBERT gazes at the sidewalk, interested in the activities that
he passes by.
ROBERT: You know what?
DAVE: What?
ROBERT: This city is really sad. There is no one around. No one walks on the streets.
DAVE: Bums. Bums walk along the streets.

ROBERT: I m glad I don t live here.
DAVE: Why?
ROBERT: It is just so poor (a beat) and nasty.
DAVE: I don t think I follow.
ROBERT: Well, look, there is so much graffiti, and it looks like the street hasn t been cleaned in over a
year. So many potholes. I bet there is a lot of crime.
DAVE: You don t know that.
ROBERT: Well, I can assume. This is a poor neighborhood.
DAVE: Don t you think that that is a bit of a rash decision? Just because someone is poor doesn t
mean that they commit crime. A lot of the problems that we have here in society are because of the
social dichotomy in the United States. Look, we just drove through Beverly Hills, past the Pretty
Woman hotel, and have now entered a poorer neighborhood within 15 minutes. The rich and the poor
live right next to one another. Unfortunately, with the way that society has pushed down the poor in
this country, these people that are driving by will most likely never be able to move up the social
totem pole. The quality of education that these people have is lower than the general society, they do
not have access to quality health care for themselves or their children, and look, I don t happen to see
much food stores or quality restaurants. Instead, I see a lot of fast food chains look, there are three at
that intersection
DAVE points and ROBERT looks.

Zander Research Paper
The plane made a sharp left and ignited in mid air like a fireball, like a firework in the sky, a loud
scream emitted from the plane, and it went straight down into the Lake Havasu desert.
My experience at flight school is finally done, and today I get to fly around beautiful Lake Havasu AZ
alone. Zander, my friend is still training, so today he is going to fly with an instructor in an E 18 A
Growler, I will be tailing behind in my personal 737 900 Boeing Dreamliner, which I was given for
my design contributions to the plane, and spacecraft that I worked on. As our planes are prepped to go,
the Head Instructor, Dave, went over our flight plans. The crew gave us the thumbs up to fly, with the
minor exception that my transponder was not ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Images flashed through my head of when I saw my dad get crushed in the World Trade Center, and all
I could do was stare at the wreckage hoping he would come back. But, I know Zander is not dead, he
had to have made it out alive. The ejection seat fired shooting straight down to the ground because of
the plane s position in the air. But, the plane had precautions for an emergency landing, so I knew
Zander had to be alive. I looked around for the best landing conditions because my plane could come
down at any moment. I flew about 8 Miles to the Lake Havasu National Wildlife Refuge, here there
was a flat looking area where the sandbar once existed when the lake was here. I prepped the plane for
an emergency landing and started my decent, I eased the back wheels down first, emitting a loud ear
piercing squeak, as the plane started to sink down into the sand, causing the back wheels to drift.
When the plane started to slow, I let the front wheel down onto the sand, slowly reaching my hand up
to the emergency exit above, located on the ceiling in the cockpit. I opened the hatch, and alarms
blared from the control panel in the front of the aircraft. I pulled the red handle to open the door, and it
flew open with maximum pressure, (A

How Can Help Change Our Perspective On Life
Gifts come in all ways, shapes and forms. Sometimes you don t even recognize that something or
someone has been giving you a gift, you only know that it makes you feel happy. Happiness in itself is
a gift that many different objects, people or places can give to someone. There are many different
things that give me happiness within one day, that is for certain. But there are irreplaceable continuous
gifts that live with us every single day, our animals. Whether you have a dog, cat, horse, fish, ferret
(the list goes on) everyone has felt some sort of happiness or thankfulness for their animals. Not only
do animals give back to us every day, but we also give back to the animals which can help change our
perspective on life and become a little bit more selfless. This new creature solely relies on you to feed
it, nurture it, shelter it, and love it for the rest of its life. That alone can change someone to be more
selfless and responsible because they have to make sure that their animal comes first in all that they do
so that it is as happy as possible. Knowing that you have to take care of this animal can make you
more compassionate too, it could open up a soft spot you may not have had before, especially if it was
your first animal. This is your gift to the animal, giving it the best life you possibly can. Animals can
help people become more responsible because they have something else they have to stay clean for,
clean up after, and take care of. We become more

1. a) What is the rationale of founders of (product) Red?
Their main reason for creating Product Red was to raise awareness and money for the Global Fund by
teaming up with the world s most iconic brands to products that would be sold. A percentage of each
product sold would be donated to the Global Fund to help women and children affected by pandemics
such HIV/AIDS and malaria. A basket of consumer goods were launched to this effect which included

The author also raises the point that despite numerous charitable efforts towards Africa in the last five
decades, Africa has gone from poor to poorer. This gives the impression that social responsibility, as it
were, is not being done ethically. The author is also of the thought that a free market capitalism on its
own has done far much better in alleviating poverty in the developing world/countries if it is left to act
on its own without marketing forces and humanitarian groups working in counter parallelism.
The author is also of the thought that the two initiatives (that is, Product Red and Red Gap) are
deviating from their main mission of company profitability maximization which compromises
shareholder value, as these companies are now against the idea of capitalism which they view as
immoral and they hence believe a profit making end should be expiated by an occasional show of real
goodness (donating to charity).
Campaigns as Product Red according to the author, accommodate the belief that globalization is an
evil business practice, of which the author thinks to the contrary.
The author also highlights that it s not private companies prerogative to pursue charitable causes at the
expense of shareholder value maximization, as this is

Security of Pipelines in Eurasia Essay
Introduction The geopolitics in Eurasia along with the implications of energy security as well as the
risks and opportunities it creates for the U.S. is understood when the layers of conflict and
negotiations are analyzed through the various topics that affect international policies. Through the
concepts based on energy, politics, security pipelines in Eurasia, international transit integration, and
the energy world order, can the conceptual argument be made that natural resources are temporary
allocations and not solutions to energy or security. The research and material covered through The
Politics of Energy Security as a course, exposes and substantiates why the geopolitics in Eurasia are

The U.S. has established military bases that are positioned closed to areas with resources, such as oil
fields. Additionally, the occupation of Afghanistan is another strategy in energy security, where the
U.S. felt threatened and has established military bases. It is ideally situated in the Middle East, and it
is bordering many neighboring populations that serve the interests of the American global quests for
energy security within the context of geopolitical, economic, and environmental challenges that it has
been debating since the 1970 s oil crisis (Pascual, Elkind, 2010, p.1). Areas of interest next to Iraq are
Saudi Arabia, Syria, and Iran. Additionally, Afghanistan borders Iran and Pakistan. These areas of
conflict and political conversation make the move of the U.S. an opportunity to expand their energy
security. These governments cannot find the strength to keep order in their regions; thus, the U.S.
gains from their chaos or it may have negative implications as these regions may grow tired of the
U.S. intervening in their once sovereign lands. The approach to uncovering the evidence of geopolitics
in Eurasia in regards to energy and security includes the effects of western influence on
communication through negations. These actions take place as a result of energy trends, international
politics, and how they are interconnected through energy uses that affect the structure of international
systems, which are some of the theoretical and empirical

Attrition In Nurse Education Essay
The transfer of Schools of Nursing into the HE sector has been relatively recent in comparison to other
healthcare programmes. This has presented the profession with a dilemma of how to attract the
candidate who meets the increased academic requirements of university study as well as possessing
the other qualities that are expected in the individual who seeks to accelerate their career development
in one of the healthcare professions. In order to meet high recruitment target numbers, while adhering
to socially inclusive policies, wider entrance criterion have been utilised in many HEIs, allowing
individuals with fewer formal qualifications to enter advanced study providing they can evidence of;

Internationally, attrition rates appear to be on the increase. The UK figures of around 15% may
compare favourably with countries such as Italy (65%) and the USA (37%) (International Audit office,
2007), yet, in the UK, concern remains regarding the number of students who fail to reach graduation.
The personal consequences of attrition for the individual and the professional and financial
consequences for the institution cannot be overstated. Each institution will have its own figures which,
in some cases, will be significantly higher than the average. The expressed level of concern in the UK
may also be related to the apparent lack of consensus over definitive figures. The Nursing Standard
commissioned a survey in 2006 on student nurse attrition which estimates that the UK average
attrition rate is closer to 25% which translates to a cost of £57m for the UK taxpayer (Buchan and
Seccombe, 2006). Whilst there is no direct cost to the UK taxpayers involved in the recruitment of
international nursing students as they are self funding, the attrition rates are close to the UK average
for this marginal group of students

Annotated Bibliography On Linear Data Structure
An introduction to linked list: a Review
Abstract
This paper describes about linear data structure i.e. linked list. Linked list is dynamic in nature means
there is no need to know size of data in advance. It is linear collection of data elements which may or
may not be stored at consecutive memory location. In linked list pointers are used for providing the
linear order and each node is divided into parts for storing data and link part. This paper provides only
overview that how linked list was created and what are its advantages over another data structure. It
also defines how data is stored in linked list. What type of linked list can be? What basic operations
can be performed on singly linked list? .And also tried to define applications of data structure.
Introduction
Linked list was developed by Cliff Shaw, Allen Newell and Herbert A. Simon at RAND Corporation
in year of 1955 1956. It was firstly used in information processing language for artificial intelligence.
There are many disadvantages of array as compare to linked list. First is array is a static data structure
and size have to define before use for example: int marks [10] here size of array have fixed of 10
elements. Second array stores only similar type of elements in integer value according to upper
example it will store only integer value and third one is in array insertion and deletion operation are
very difficult for performing that operations huge amount of data have to move upward and downward

Seven Literacy Capabilities
I believe that literacy is one of the most important of the seven capabilities. Every single person in the
entire world uses literacy every single day, you could say it is more of a way of life than a capability.
In today s day and age, most things have become digitalized, and children are becoming more
confident in their writing abilities as well as their communication skills online. Literacy takes reading,
writing, and communication skills, and jumbles those all up together, giving people who extend their
literacy capability the option to apply more techniques, and interactions onto these skills. In the words
of 3plearning, The changes that the English language has undergone over the course of history is
staggering. The past decade alone

Analysis Of Hank Morgan s A Connecticut Yankee
A Connecticut Yankee in King Arthur s Court tells the story of a Connecticut Yankee, Hank Morgan,
being sent back in time to King Arthur s Court, in 528. During the story, Hank learns much about
himself and others. From his experiences, the novel as a whole tries to convey the idea that Hank has
much to learn from the medieval time period and its people, even though it might not be transparent to
him. During the story, Hank believes he is superior to those in King Arthur s Court. He feels that his
Yankee can do attitude, capitalist beliefs, technological advances and democratic ideals put him a step
above everyone in the medieval time. From his stubbornness to improve a society that does not really
need improvement, Hank blinds himself from learning human values that would only be beneficial for
himself and the Americans of his time. These positive aspects of life include hospitality, trust, unity,
and loyalty. As a result of Hank s efforts to change these people, he eventually destroys their society,
further proving the point that his way of life is not the only way to live; as well as showing it is far
from the best way to live. To begin with, Hank s human nature and values are essentially based off of
his circumstances. His time period is full of new opportunities and possibilities. These opportunities
include new jobs, better technology, and new ways of thinking. These give the people a sense of
optimism and a desire to want more. From this desire, people want to go

The United States And The Euro Area
The United States and the euro area are the top two largest economies in the world. This paper is a
brief comparison of the central banking systems of the two economies. The paper starts by introducing
historical background for the two central banking systems to be established. It then continues to
analysis similarities and differences between two central bank system s organizational structures.
Moreover, the paper will also compare monetary policy frameworks of the two systems in terms of
monetary policy making organization, objective, transparency, accountability, and strategies.
History
The Federal Reserve System In 1791, U.S. Congress established the First Bank of the United States,
headquartered in Philadelphia in response to the rapidly inflated paper money continentals . However,
Congress refused to renew the bank s charter in 1811 because many Americans then were
uncomfortable with the idea of a large and powerful bank. By 1816, the idea of a central bank was
once again aroused; by a narrow margin, Congress agreed to charter the Second Bank of the United
States. But the Second Bank s charter expired in 1836 without a renewal neither. During the Free Bank
Era (1836 1865), risks of financial crisis accumulated. In 1893, a banking panic triggered the worst
depression the United States had ever seen, and in 1907, a bout of speculation on Wall Street ended in
failure, triggering a particularly severe banking panic. On December 23, 1913, President Woodrow
Wilson

  • 2. Saint Saëns Siege Other performances at this time also have Saint Saëns performing in benefit of the Red Cross and later in 1870 to wounded soldiers. His duties as a soldier were as much delineated in protecting Paris, the subsequent active patriotism as they were in utilizing music as a means to inspire, and mend the psychological wounds of warfare; the more subtle, but still active patriotic muscle. Even with his descriptive indications of war and musical activities during the Siege, Saint Saëns does not offer a more intricate blueprint regarding his Marche. For example, some pervasive questions arise in regards to the repurposing of materials in his Cantate, such as: when exactly did the Cantate material get transformed into the recognizable Marche? Additionally, ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... A string of unsuccessful battles, backed by a lack of supplies, and untrained soldiers ultimately nudged Jules Favre to agree to an armistice on January 27th 1871. Thus, concluding, the period of the Siege. However, what is pivotal about the Siege is it demonstrated what the French thought was essential. Amidst a deficit in supplies, and a losing war, music played an integral part in the livelihood of its people. In the same respects, Saint Saëns s occupation as a soldier, musician, and composer acclimates to this narrative of music as an integral piece, worshiping music even amongst instability. For France and Saint Saëns, losing the war was the first of many painful experiences. In the final days before Favre signed the armistice, a painful addition was added to the Marche Héroïque lineage; Saint Saëns s friend, painter, and tenor, Henri Regnault (1843 1871) died. Regnault was fatally shot in the Battle of Buzenval. According to Saint Saëns, he received his idea for his Requiem on the night Regnault had fallen. As much, an invalidated story surrounds the composers refusal of nutrients or company for the span of three days following the news of his friend. Regnault s death without a doubt sparked a great sadness in the composer and in turn, added a painful dedicated of his Marche Héroïque to his memory. The expenditures of the war for Saint Saëns certainly eroded any sense of normalcy for him or the rest of France. Even with the eventual outcomes of the war that included the annexation of Alsace Lorraine, and the death of his friend Henri Regnault, Saint Saëns conversely utilized the distress and sadness of these events and elicited a creative fervor that produced an array of works, writings, and the completion of an orchestral rendition of Marche ... • 3. The Pros And Cons Of Socialitarianism Different nation and states utilize unique economic philosophies to manage how limited resources are allocated within their societies. The two most common of these are capitalism and socialism. Even among these two prevailing schools of economic thought, which systems is emphasized can vary from country to country. The United States has always favored strong forms of capitalism since its inception, while China, the Eastern Bloc nations, and the former USSR have experimented with extreme forms of socialism in their recent history. Western Europe, while favoring capitalism, has implemented many socialistic policies to achieve a middle ground between the two. Within said nations, citizens often directly align their preference of economic thought to a blind patriotism to his or her native land s policies, without a cogent understanding of how such policies work or don t work. Such dogmatism can be mitigated by under taking a careful examination of both systems pros and cons. The central paradigm in capitalistic economies is that government has a minimal role deciding what, how, and when to produce goods. They trust in Adam s Smith s invisible hand to allow people s self interest and the ensuing laws of supply and demand to determine the cost of goods and services. Moreover, vacuums in the potential market are entrusted to entrepreneurs to spot and fill, without governmental interference. By allowing individuals to pursue their self interests, capitalism provides strong ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 4. The Electoral College System Is Not Effective If I had the opportunity to change the Constitution of the United States of America, I would change the Electoral College system. Like many other Americans, I feel that the Electoral College system is not effective. It caries a notion of the state versus the people, electors oversee a large part of the country and is change the answer to this issue? I believe that times have changed and we need to reform the electoral system all while not changing the constitution. The Constitution of the United States of America created a system called the Electoral College where it outlines the rules in which we elect the President of the United States of America. As stated in Article 2, Section 1 of the U. S. Constitution created the Electoral College. Each state receives as many electoral votes as it has senators and representatives. Therefore, each state, including the District of Columbia, will have at least three electors. This is the vision of the Constitution. Now the problem arises when all the Electoral votes from one state are given to the popular winner for that state. This causes a with people s right to chose their leader as votes of the people that voted for the losing candidate are tossed in the trash. All this while giving the state the ultimate power to elect the president. The people of the loosing party on the state votes are not worth anything they are just given to the winner basically with the current electoral system. The system needs to be redesigned to ... Introduction Background and Significance: The goal of this action research project is to contrast and compare the economic and cultural benefits of multigenerational households in the Midwest of USA since the economic downturn. This research will focus on multigenerational households of families attending the Southern Illinois University Edwardsville (SIUE) Belleville Head Start Center . The families at this particular Head Start are diverse, young parents with low income and other factors that fit the criteria for this project. For over twenty years, I have worked with these families and it has been a vital balance to create stability for the family and directly impacted the child. I will use the findings of this action research project to better assist my families to reach a level of self sufficiency. Statement of the Problem: In ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 6. Dakota Access Pipeline Protest Movement Dakota Access Pipeline Protest Movement Introduction Civil societies are voluntary social institutions and organizations that are separate from the government and the market where a community of citizens are able to come together and pursue their shared common interest. They are beneficial to the community as well as the broader society as civil societies ultimately promote progressive policies, nurture positive social norms that encourage stability, and advocates accountability and checks against state authority (Edwards 2010). Moreover, civil societies represent a third sphere of association where citizens are able to address the deficiencies that the state and market fail to handle and then have the opportunity to develop their own ... Second the political role, deals with the promotion of accountability and transparency within the government and provides checks against the state authority (Edwards 2010). Third the social role, deals with nurturing positive social norms that can foster stability. In addition to teaching people skills of good citizenship that will allow for maintaining social ties in an impersonal modern world (Edwards 2010). Overall, all of this three roles are reflected in the Dakota Access Pipeline protest movement as the community demonstrates the three main concepts throughout their civil society. Firstly, the social movement demonstrates the economic role by trying to secure the livelihood of the Sioux tribe by protesting for the protection of their primary water source essentially protesting for the right (and necessity) to water without worries of damage from oil spills because of the pipeline. Thus, the protest movement reflects the economic role of civil society as its main concern is with the health and welfare of the 10,000 Native Americans that live on the reservation and whose primary source of water is in danger of ... • 7. Introduction to Soccer Essay Soccer is a popular sport played all over the world. Even though it has only been popular in the United States for the past 30 years, soccer has been a long time favorite most everywhere else. The sport dates back to the Egyptians, who played games involving the kicking of a ball. Now, the sport has grown to a global pastime, including men s and women s teams, and the World Cup (which is played every four years). Soccer originated with kicking games played by people in ancient civilizations. The modern version came about in the early nineteenth century, in England. It started as a game involving kicking and handing, but later this branched off into two separate sports: rugby and football (which is what the English call soccer). Around ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... In addition to the field itself, all that is needed for a game is two goals (eight feet high and eight yards apart) and a ball. Each player wears hard plastic or padded shingaurd, covered by long socks, for protection during play. Cleats are also worn for traction on the field. A goalie may also wear a special padded shirt, and gloves to protect his or her hands. A standard field, as regulated by the Federation Internationale de Football Association (or FIFA), has a length between 100 and 130 yards, and a width of between 50 and 100 yards. The rules of play for soccer have deliberately been kept simple. The referee makes most of the decisions, and attempts to encourage fair play. The game starts off with a kick off, and the teams are allowed to pass, dribble, juggle, head, kick, and shoot the ball to place it down the field, and (hopefully, or eventually) into their opponent s goal. If the ball is kicked off the field over the length of the field, the other team is given a throw in, where the ball is thrown over the player s head, and back onto the field. If the ball is kicked over the goal, or across the width of the field, either a corner kick results (by the offensive team, where the ball is placed on the corner of the field and kicked into play) or the defensive team is awarded a goal kick, where the ball is placed on the corner of the goal box, and kicked back into play. After days of perpetual paranoia Mr. Alfred Ill is accepting of his fate. The mayor asks Ill: Will you respect our decision concerning the acceptance of rejection of the Claire Zachanassian Endowment? Alfred Ill responds with I respect it. Although quite sugar coated, this means that Alfred Ill is to be put to death so the city of Gullen can accept Claire Zachanassian s money. This quote shows the fact that Ill has accepted his unfortunate fate caused entirely due to his own actions. The fact that Alfred Ill didn t put up a fight and merely stood in acceptance causes the reader to feel pity. This is a solemn part for Ill and the reader. This party in the play as a whole represents Ill at his time of death and lowest point. • 11. Section Of 1 Corinthians 12-13 In The Harpercollins Study... The first section of the note on 1 Corinthians 12:12 13 in the HarperCollins Study Bible leads the reader to contemplate the issue of unity in the body of Christ, the lack of which is arguably the origin of most, if not all of the issues facing the Corinthian church. The Christians in Corinth were challenged with several internal problems, many of which could have been solved by the members seeking unity in their diversity. Paul introduces the idea that the church should function as the body of Christ, valuing the abilities and roles that God chose for each member. The first part of the note states, Like certain other ancient writers, Paul regards the human body as illustrating the point that unity and diversity are not incompatible, applying ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The Corinthians had a way of self praise and boasting over their superior actions. They would speak in tongues and prophecy in public not to benefit others who are in attendance but, in Paul s view, simply to elevate themselves in the eyes of others (Bart Ehrman, A Brief Introduction to the New Testament, p. 228). In 1 Corinthians 12, Paul lists the variety of gifts that various members of the church possess, saying that the Spirit has assigned each gift to each individual. Paul wants the Corinthians to understand that God has given the individuals in the community distinctive roles and gifts that, when used appropriately, better the church as a whole. To emphasize the importance of unity in the church, Paul writes, For just as the body is one and has many members, and all the members of the body, though many, are one body, so it is with Christ (1 Cor 12:12). Paul shows how each member of the church has imperative value, just as each part of the body is essential for it to work properly. The Corinthians problem of boasting would fade away as soon as they acknowledge that there is value in the diversity of the members of the church. God placed each person in the role that He intends for them to fill and everyone must recognize His placement. Greater than all other gifts is the gift of love. Love is crucial because it builds up the community and strengthens every believer, regardless of their differences. Paul stresses that the most excellent gift is love, writing If I speak in the tongues of mortals and of angels, but have not love, I am a noisy gong or a clanging cymbal. And if I have prophetic powers, and understand all mysteries and all knowledge, and if I have all faith, so as to remove mountains, but have not love, I am nothing (1 Cor ... The Alpine Lodge opened up in 1939 as a hunting and fishing lodge and came to be because of a man named Adam Thomas Dahmer. Adam and his wife Julia owned a business in Glady and a store and post office in Bemis. Adam had his heart set on building a business in Alpena so he purchased the Park Collett Farm sometime in the 1920 s; this was to become the home of the Alpine Lodge. Introduction Such readers respond first of all, and sometimes only, to their reading on an emotional level; the work affects them, producing joy or revulsion, laughter or tears, anxiety or elation (Page xxvii). I use to not analyze works because I would think that this factor would alleviate the experience of reading books. I still think that analyzing books as a piece of work instead of reading for the emotional level somewhat takes the joy out of the experience. Very few TV shows paved the way for what television is today and, after spending ten years on the air, Friends is one of those few. Friends was so groundbreaking because of its unique writing, its cast chemistry, and its ability to resonate with the people in its era. Friends consists of six friends, Joey, Chandler, Ross, Rachel, Monica, and Phoebe, living in New York and discovering themselves. The chemistry, or lack there of, between cast members has been the downfall of many television series, but that was never a problem for Friends. Not only was each actor perfect for his or her character, but each actor was also perfect for each other. The show worked best when all six characters were on the screen. If, for example, Joey had a date, it was rarely shown on screen. Instead, what was shown was the six friends discussing the date after the fact. Many supporting characters, such as love interests, were written off because it seemed as if they somehow go in the way. Monica and Chandler both had many love interests and yet, they ended up marrying each other. All ten seasons consisted of the same cast, and no one ever got tired of seeing the same six faces on their TV screen. • 17. Summary Of The Pink Panther Jeff Koons s Pink Panther is a piece of art that portrays an entertained, bare breasted lady, attired in a green dress. Her head tilts backward in a posture appearing as if she is talking to people around her. She is modeled after the former Hollywood star, Jayne Mansfield. Additionally, the Pink Panther, a famous cartoon character, calmly rests on the left shoulder of Mansfield while wearing a hapless expression. Both figures were mass market and pop culture knickknacks when the sculpture was created. The work itself marked a crucial period of transformation in Koons s work and style. His creations became brighter, bigger, and more startlingly cheerful. Koons surprised the public by his brief realism and his resoluteness to depict the contemporary social and cultural situation. His work could be understood as complex perspective on the present time. The image of the couple is gratifyingly sophomoric. It depicts the lust for an object, which is accompanied by ingenuous sentimentality. In general, the sculpture pinpoints everything Koons regards erroneous in the modern American popular culture. Furthermore, the artwork portrays the way how people conduct themselves in their daily activities and presents their common values and attitude to life. For instance, the sculpture can be related to the problem of women s rights. Although the lady is utterly sexualized and objectified, it is done in a vulgar way of a kitsch, which makes a viewer to think about the status of woman in the modern society. In addition, utilizing recognizable celebrities as a selling point could be considered a type of self irony and reflection on the contemporary status of art. Finally, the Pink Panther blurs the difference between an art object and a piece of everyday culture and entertainment. In this regards, it stands out from other works of postmodernism. Pink Panther by Jeff Koons Introduction Artistic work often forms a serious way of communication, and many artists use it to pass a message to the society. To even discuss what should be done economists have to either state whether or not global warming and climate change exist. According to the CATO article, Climate Change vs. Climate Models (Michaels and Knappenberger, 2013), The models estimate of the increase in temperature resulting from a doubling of carbon dioxide concentration may simply be too high. As questioned in the article, is there such thing as climate change? Next, if climate change does exist, are carbon emissions a relevant cause of such a phenomena? With all of these questions at hand, how do we deal or cope with the current environmental state through economic means? Does climate change exist? According to the U.S. Global Research Program (USGRP), climate change does exist. Not in the sense of immediate and drastic changes in the climate, but a gradual fluctuation in temperatures that have been gathered since the early 1900 s. The empirical data that has been gathered shows a steady increase in the mean maximum temperature recorded in the Canadian Climate Change Model which is the basis on the 2000 U.S. National Assessment of Climate Change. Linked list is dynamic in nature means there is no need to know size of data in advance. It is linear collection of data elements which may or may not be stored at consecutive memory location. In linked list pointers are used for providing the linear order and each node is divided into parts for storing data and link part. This paper provides only overview that how linked list was created and what are its advantages over another data structure. It also defines how data is stored in linked list. What type of linked list can be? What basic operations can be performed on singly linked list? .And also tried to define applications of data structure. Introduction Linked list was developed by Cliff Shaw, Allen Newell and Herbert A. Simon at RAND Corporation in year of 1955 1956.
