Cubism and Multiplicity of Narration in the Waste Land
Cubism and Multiplicity of Narration in The Waste Land
Abstract
The aim of this essay is to consider the multiplicity of narration in The Waste Land and its
relationship in enrichment of content and meaning in the poem. There is an attempt to convey the
Cubist traits and find concrete examples in the poem. This study will try to specify evidences for
conformity of cubism and multiplicity of narration in the poem. While Eliot juxtaposed so many
perspectives in seemingly set of disjointed images, there is painful task of unifying .., jarring and
incompatible perspectives in The Waste Land. Like a cubist painting, there is a kind of variety of
narration in unity through the poem. The usage of different languages and narrations in the poem ...

Part of this sense of the totality of the modern self adding up to a fractured variety emerges, not
just from the shifting sense of the images and the multiplicity of narration , but also from the
variety in the verse style. It s as if in the modern age, there cannot be a single authoritative way of
expressing how one feels. There is not enough confidence in the forms of language itself. Just as the
traditional community has become the unreal city, a vision of a modern inferno. So The Waste
Land is abundant with multiplicity of narration in different language and set of seemingly
disordered images.
The images in The Waste Land are supported by two distinct ways of narration. The lyric voice
opening the poem uses metaphoric, often symbolic images and speaks in repetitive, stylized syntax.
It has suggested on the one hand order and propriety, and on the other hand stasis. This voice speaks
with authority and finality as it recurs in scenes throughout the poem where the vision of
barrenness and revulsion from life is intensely clear and controlled. This voice contrasts with many
voices speaking in metonymically rendered narrative scenes full of movement and change. These
other voices resist categorization. These voices rang from vivid characters such as Marie, the
hyacinth girl, Stetson s friend, Madame Sosostris, the nervous woman, the pub woman, Tiresias,
and the Thames daughters,

Abstract
The primary objective of the paper is to focus on the major transport systems of the two major
economic hubs of the 21st century being, Mumbai _(India) and New York city_ (United states of
America. It shall also talk about the need for an evolution for a dense transport system and its effect
on the two cities. This paper would mainly focus on the historic development dealing with the need
for evolution, process of design and technology and construction methods involved in the making of
such dense transport fabric. Facts, references and illustrations shall support the research.
New York Citys subway system is among the busiest urban transit systems in the world. Domestic
transportation is a key factor for economic growth. Transportation issues and infrastructural delays
affect a nation s progress and India needs much faster and efficient transportation systems. Amitabh
Kant, CEO, Delhi Mumbai Industrial Corridor (DMIC). [1]
This helps in concluding that the rail network is a better, convenient and a more efficient mode of
transportation.
By the discussions cited in the article and the statistics provided, irrespective of the different needs
for evolution, these wide spread rapid transport systems play a vital role in the connecting the
major down town areas and contribute the cities one of the major source of incomes balancing the
major load on the road traffic.

Reformation Dbq
B2 September 25, 2011 Reformation DBQ During the Protestant Reformation in Germany around
the 16th century chaos ensued. This was lead by Martin Luther, who brought the churches lie out in
the open for all to see. He told the people of the corruption within the Vatican, and how they shouldn

church. This all went on while the Renaissance was still affecting the European nations. The Roman
church fell into a great deal of corruption, under Pope Leo X who began spending more money than

Survival Analysis For Patients With Gastric Bypass Surgery
Other than mortality, survival analysis can be used for those patients having gastric bypass
surgery. Many advertisements are geared toward the obese patients in my area, much weight

23.9 percent among thse who didn t have surgery and 13.8 % who had surgery ( Arterburn, et al.,

and added extra pounds. Dr Arteburnan, an internist at the Group Health Research Institute in
Seattle who studies obesity, stated that that they still do not know at 10 and 20 years what
portion of patients kept their weight off (Arterburn et al., 2014). A survival analysis to study
from time of surgery to and the length of time weight loss was maintained after reaching
established weight loss goal should be done. Survival analysis can be used to study the
probability of many timed outcomes (Institute for Work Health, 2012). It can help make decisions

The Gender of Sports Essay
The Gender of Sports
What are the social and cultural costs and benefits of an individual (male or female) entering a non
traditional sport for their gender/sex (e.g. women enter body building, power lifting, boxing; men
enter synchronized swimming or field hockey)?
In today s society, particularly in the United States, an individual entering a non traditional sport for
his/her gender takes on many tasks besides playing the sport, the individual also takes on the
criticism (good or bad) of people who play the sport and those who watch it too. There are many
social and cultural costs as well as benefits, but to what extent mostly depends on the sport and the
sex of the player.
The biggest thing that creates a social and ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
So even before the league started, someone felt that he/she had to prove that not all aggressive
female athletes are gay. It s funny, but in a sad way, that women have to prove their sexual identity,
but the men s are never questioned.
The social and cultural costs of this intermingling of sexes starts with the genders that are tied to
each sport, which then puts the individual s sexuality at question. If a woman enters a male sport
she will be considered a lesbian and if a male entered a woman sport then he would be tagged
with a gay identity. The player now has two jobs, succeed at the game and prove their sexuality,
just like what the commercials were doing for the WNBA, proving the maternity of the players.
Also, if an individual is of a different race or social class, then people tend to attack that side of
the person. For example, some might say that the only reason why a person is good is because
of their color or the only reason why someone has the opportunity is because he/she came from a
wealthy background. Many people in today s society will find anything about someone to attack
them and prove that what that individual is doing is wrong and bad for society and/or for the
sport and apply labels to them. These labels lead to harassment and when it is not dealt with
appropriately it can contribute to many social crises . It may interfere with and affect an individual
s physical and emotional health, which will lead

The Dilemmas Of Public Education And Public School...
The greatly discussed dilemma of having a child be taught in a public school setting versus a
homeschool setting has been evaluated by parents since the idea was first introduced in the 1970 s.
Public schooling had been the standard method of teaching since it is a requirement for states to
provide public, free educationfor children in grades K 12. However, the backlash against the system
began when two educational theorists and supporters of schoolreform, John Holt and Raymond
Moore, started to question both the techniques and the products of public schools. Some parents
went on to support the ideas of them and began to teach their children in the environment of their
own homes for several different reasons. Some included moral or religious reasons, a desire for
high educational achievement, dissatisfaction with public schools instructional program, or
concerns about drugs and peer pressure in a public school environment. Child development
specialists believe that homeschooled children are isolated from the outside world, therefore
making them socially handicapped. If being exposed to this type of education on an elementary
school level, the child can suffer from the lack of fundamental development of effective social
skills needed for a lifetime ahead of them.
It is believed that by restricting children from the real world and its many problems through home
schooling, they may never get the chance to learn both life lessons and social interaction skills on
their own

The Man That Was Used Up By Edgar Allan Poe
The concept of a man machine mixture was widespread in science fiction before World War II.
As early as 1843, Edgar Allan Poe described a man with extensive prostheses in the short story The
Man That Was Used Up . In 1911, Jean de la Hire introduced the Nyctalope, a science fiction hero
who was perhaps the first literary cyborg, in Le MystГЁre des XV (later translated as The
Nyctalope on Mars).[7][8][9] Edmond Hamilton presented space explorers with a mixture of
organic and machine parts in his novel The Comet Doom in 1928. He later featured the talking,
living brain of an old scientist, Simon Wright, floating around in a transparent case, in all the
adventures of his famous hero, Captain Future. He uses the term explicitly in the 1962 short
story, After a Judgment Day, to describe the mechanical analogs called Charlies, explaining that
[c]yborgs, they had been called from the first one in the 1960s...cybernetic organisms. In the short
story No Woman Born in 1944, C. L. Moore wrote of Deirdre, a dancer, whose body was burned
completely and whose brain was placed in a faceless but beautiful and supple mechanical body.
The term was coined by Manfred E. Clynes and Nathan S. Kline in 1960 to refer to their conception
of an enhanced human being who could survive in extraterrestrial environments:
For the exogenously extended organizational complex functioning as an integrated homeostatic
system unconsciously, we propose the term Cyborg . Manfred E. Clynes and

The Representations of Femininity in Pride and Prejudice
Jane Austen, one of the most well known 19th century novelists recognized today continues to
captivate people with stories of love and romance through the transformation of her novels into
film and television. All of her novels are about women dealing with romance, courtship, and
marriage during a repressing period. Most of her characters and stories revolve around the lives of
the upper class. It centers on the values, rituals, and manners of high society in England during the
Regency Era. Her most popular novel, Pride and Prejudicepublished in 1813 maintains the interest
of its audiences as it did almost two centuries earlier as evidenced by its frequent incarnations. In
1995, the British Broadcasting Corporation produced a six... Show more content on Helpwriting.net

This adaptation offers an accurate representation of the story and characters which overall offers a
beautiful visual rich in semiotics for exploration. In Roberta Grandi s article, The Passion
Translated: Literary and Cinematic Rhetoric in Pride and Prejudice, she observes that in an age
when naked bodies are overexposed and sex is common topic of discussion, costume films
rediscover a taste for visual repression. Through the concealment of the bodies and translation of
their sensuality into objects, both voyeuristic and fetishist sensations are enhanced (50) which I
believe is the reason behind the lasting appeal of period dramas. This will keep audiences,
especially the younger viewers today, engaged in the characters conversations, actions and tiny
gestures in an attempt to decipher what the characters truly feel and think as in Grandi s words, if
passion is nowhere expressed it means that passion is concealed everywhere (50). Even if the times
had changed and values have become more progressive compared to that of Jane Austen time,
viewers nevertheless enjoy the passion in her

Gun Laws And Practices Regulate Gun Control
Guns have always been a major problem in the United States of America. The Second
Amendment to the Constitution gives us the right to bear arms, which makes everyone feel
they need to have a gun, and that can lead to dangerous situations for people in the US. It is very
easy to get yourself a gun. It costs less than an iPhone to get. The problem I am trying to get at is
that there are inevitably going to be gun use violations, and people can use the Second
Amendment to get guns way too easily. My essay will deal with how we can create laws and
practices to regulate guns, how we can stop guns from getting into the wrong hands, and also how
we can prevent mass shootings.
This is all one big picture. There is a slippery slope, where one problem leads to another. I feel
that most people don t understand what the Second Amendment means to other people. Many
people think, I have to carry a gun on me at all times or, Since I have the right to, I am going to
buy assault rifles and machine guns for the hell of it. See the Second Amendment. But nowhere in
the Second Amendment does it state that you have a right to bear arms to protect your home, or if
you feel you are in danger.
It is so easy to obtain almost any gun. I mean, someone could easily buy a machine gun or assault
rifle. A simple background check and it is yours. And unfortunately, these mass shootings do occur
as a result. These shooters can be homegrown terrorists, or tied to terrorist organizations overseas.

Describe And Comparing The Chemical Functions Of DNA And DNA
DNA: Structure and Replication
1. Describe and compare the chemical compositions of DNA and RNA.
DNA and RNA are nucleic acids; they are characterized by being long chains that are called
polymers, from other units called nucleotides. With the DNA and RNA, it is expected to have a
variety of polynucleotide chains. The nucleotides are intertwined by means of covalent bonds
between sugar of a nucleotide and the phosphate of the next. This results in an ordered backbone
pattern. As well as the DNA as the RNA have purine nitrogenous bases adenine and guanine and
the pyrimidine cytosine.
2. Describe the key features of the overall shape of a DNA molecule.
The main activities of the DNA are thymine, cytosine, adenine, guanine, and uracil. Thymine is
like an individual ring structure, it is an organic compound that descends from the pyrimidine
family which is one of the main constituents of deoxyribonucleic acid, thymine is replaced by the
uracil nucleus base. A cytosine is a fundamental unit of nucleic acids; it is the main nucleotide of
leukemia and cancer. Adenine is a purine base found in DNA and RNA. Adenine is a
fundamental compound of adenine nucleotides, adenosine form which is a nucleoside when the
ribosome is filled. Guanine consists of a pyrimidine imidazole fused ring system with double
bonds. The uracil found in RNA is paired with adenine and can also be replaced by thymine in
DNA. In the body, the uracil helps to carry out the synthesis of many enzymes that are

packed with death and the destruction of others. Themes of love, revenge, power are one of the
many motivating factors. Throughout this play, the word womb have a significance aspect,

abdomen or abdominal cavity of a person or animal; the belly/ also the anterior wall of the

St. Francis Of Assisi Essay
St. Francis of Assisi was born in Umbria in the year 1182. He was a child every father hoped for,
he was filled with life, a determined and courageous individual. He was gifted with rather good

merchant in Assisi. But this son, his favourite, was the one who broke Peter Bernardone s heart.
The boy turned on his father, and in a vicious event that eventually resulted into a public scene. St.

Application Of Cellulases On Juice Recovery
Application of Cellulases on Juice Recovery
Introduction
Cellulose is the most abundant compound produced from stalks, leaves, and stems (Shankar,
2011). The use of enzymes in the food industry provides safer and higher quality products.
Cellulases are enzymes which break down the sugar cellulose. Cellulase enzymes are produced by
fungi, animals, plants, and bacteria. (Zhang 2013) The cellulase enzyme has been used for
various industry applications such as the textile industry, paper industry, and juice industry.
Cellulases link beta, 1,4 linkages in the cellulose chains (Zhang 2013). There are three types of
cellulase enzymes: endoglucanases, exoglucanases, and beta glucosidases. Exoglucanases act on
the reducing or non reducing ends of cellulose (Zhang, 2013). Endoglucanases cut the
nonreducing ends of cellulose or the beta 1,4 bonds. Endoglucanases are also produced by
bacteria, fungi, plants, and animals (Zhang,2013). Lastly, beta glucosidases are produced by
archaea, bacteria, fungi, plants, and animals and are known for degrading cellobiose (Zhang,
2013). All three forms of cellulases are produced from animals, bacteria, and plants. The purpose of
this paper will be to discuss mainly the cellulase enzyme and its effect on the juice industry in
addition to other applications of cellulase, and how cellulase behaves in combination with other
enzymes such as pectinase and xylanase.

Transnational Corporations And Human Rights Violations Essay
Introduction
This essay s thesis is that there is currently a lack legal apparatuses that can be used to hold
transnational corporations liable for human rights violations; specifically violation of labour rights.
This paper seeks to discuss various legal instruments that are applicable to transnational
corporations and human rights violations. It will also provide theoretical framework for
understanding the nature of human rights and legal framework of labour laws. This essay will
address the following questions: What is the legal status of transnational corporations? How can
current legal apparatuses be used to hold transnational corporations accountable for human rights
violations? This essay will also consider the case of human right violations by Nike Corporation in
order to show that external pressures can produce development and accountability.
2. Transnational Corporations
Current legal mechanisms of accountability fail to account for the fluid nature and power of
influence that transnational corporations possess. Transnational Corporations are not static in
nature and have tremendous economic and political influence over government policies. These
factors result in a lack of due diligence for transnational corporations to uphold human rights. TNCs
are economic and legal entities. In theory, TNCs are subject to the law of a country, to the
jurisdiction of its courts, but often this is abandoned by the government of countries. TNCs have
tremendous influence

CARAMEL AND CRYSTALLIZATION
When a wet caramel is made, first we make a sugar syrup which is sugar dissolved in water. The
water evaporates as heating process continue to make caramel, the syrup becomes super
saturated, which means that it holds more sugar molecules than the normal capacity of water.
Due to this, the sugar tries to re crystallize. If this happens, final product ends up with a pan full
of clear rock candy. In order to avoid this, we have to make sure pan is spotlessly clean. Sugar
molecules have jagged edges and can easily stick to each other or to the impurities from the pan. A
tool is required to stir caramel, which may contain impurities leading to crystallization, some
people also say that stirring in itself (after the sugar has dissolved) can cause the sugar syrup to
crystallize, as stirring encourages the sugar molecules to clump together. So instead, swirling the
pan is another option

be avoided by removing it from the heat, adding a few tablespoons of water, returning it to the

recrystallization from occurring in the first place, so there are a few ways to prevent

Different Forms of Power Presented in My Last Duchess, A Woman to Her Lover and La Belle

Amongst the three love poems examined in this essay, the theme of male or female power in
relationships pervades throughout. The views of the speakers are expressed and defined through
literary and poetic techniques. This gives the reader an insight into the speaker s problems and
dissatisfaction with a relationship, due to an imbalance of power. However there are dissimilarities
between the poems for example where in La Belle Dame Sans Merci the female displays
supernatural power and dominance over a knight, the Duke in My Last Duchess desires
psychological power over his Duchess.

Also the Duke believes himself to be above the level of common people saying he would never
stoop down to their level. From this we can presume the Duke is afraid of losing his power, and
would rather hold his head up high and suffer for it rather than stoop . The use of this word
indicates that the Duke is in a state of mind where he sees himself as superior compared to others.
However as we read on we learn that the Duke had limited control over his wife. He states that She
had a heart…to soon made glad , showing that he felt she was amused easily and distracted
away from him perhaps by other men. This is amplified further when he says She liked whate er
she looked on , showing he believes she undermined his control over her and paid attention to other
men . We can infer from this that the Duke was disturbed about his deficit of restrain over his wife
and is deeply angered at how she thanked men other than himself.
The Duke is outraged at the lack of affection he receives from his Duchess, and provides the
reader with reasons as to why he deserves more. The Duke says She ranked my gift of a nine
hundred years old name with anybody s gift . Here the Duke explains that his supremacy, which he
received from his family name, has stretched over several centuries and his Duchess should
therefore appreciate him for it. His contenders have a lot less to offer but still

Adoption boundaries have steadily extended since the World War II, Korean War and Vietnam War,
where many children became orphans. As a response to them winners, especially Americans, started
to adopt children from the war torn countries (Wilkinson 1995, 174). Thus, it was a start point for
international adoption. Intercountry (international or transnational) adoption is defined as adoption,
where child is removed to the adoptees country. In recent times motives to adopt internationally are
explained as charity of wealthier and more developed nations, a wish to help countries, which are
fighting with economic problems, and also insufficient numbers of babies within the country. The

raising ethical dilemma of international adoption. The importance of this topic is significant, since
children should be considered as the most precious parts of every nation. Country s well being
includes not only economic stability and military force, but children s happiness as well. Especially
the future and happiness of abandoned children depends on international adoption. Accordingly,
taking into account rate of intercountry adoption and its current problems the topic is relevant

procedure of international adoption includes adoption fees, which are often in average ten thousand

Prejudice In The Sign Of Four
Prejudice towards other cultures by Europeans during the 19th and 20th century was common. The
Sign of Four is a novel written by Arthur Conan Doyle in the late 19th century, and features
Sherlock Holmes. In the novel, Dr. Watson and Sherlock Holmes undertake the mystery of the
precious Agra treasure after being approached by a young and beautiful woman named Miss
Morstan. She contacted the two in hope of discovering the reason for her father s disappearance.
This leads to Holmes, Watson, and Miss Morstan working closely with Dr. Thaddeus Sholto. The
novel takes place during the time of the Indian rebellion. Arthur Conan Doylepoorly depicts non

An Ethical Dilemma Of Tube Feeding
An Ethical Dilemma of Tube Feeding There are times that self determination has opposition with
the values and beliefs of health care providers. The five step ethical decision making model is in
place for patients that are unable to make their own health care decisions due to incompetency;
paternalism is not the method used anymore. In relation to health care, paternalism manifests
itself in the making of decisions on behalf of patients without their full consent or knowledge.

Famous Thinkers Essay
When looking at history and try to discover famous thinkers in our society, many men and women
stand out. Famous thinkers are people who used critical thinking and perseverance to overcome
adversity to succeed. The two that stand out in my mind are Bill Gates and Dr. Martin Luther King
Jr. Lets discuss their contributions to society as a whole, the problems or issues that they resolved,
and how they were able to come up with their solutions.
Contributions to Society
Self made multi billionaire, entrepreneur and philanthropist Bill Gates was born in Seattle,
Washington in 1955. We recognize the name Bill Gates; it is hard not to be famous when you are

Despite his efforts to promote equality for all American s, Dr. King lost his life to an assassin in
Tennessee in 1968. (Martin Luther King Jr., 2011). Dr. King makes insightful and uncannily
prescient pronouncements about the nature of capitalism and communism, a quarter of a century
before the demise of the Soviet Union. Dr Martin, L. K.,Jr. (1992, Jan 20).
Personal Environments
Bill Gates first took an interest in computer programming when he was 13 years old, while
attending school. The school used funds from sales and donations and was able to purchase the
students an ASR 33 Teletype terminal and computer time on a General Electric computer terminal.
Bill, instantly intrigued, was able to get excused from his regular classes to work with the
computer. Bill, then, gained his interest in computer programming. He was able to develop a
program where the students could play the computer in a game of tic tac toe. This was the
beginning of Bill Gates career (Bill Gates, 2011).
Bill Gates mother, Mary had devoted most of her time working with charities and civil affairs
organizations, the most popular name being United Way. She would bring Bill with her on many
volunteer missions. Bill Gates would grow up to follow her example, only he would have the
money to donate and even create his own organizations and foundations (Bill Gates, 2011).

Benefits Of Gene Therapy For Parkinson s Disease
Gene therapy for Parkinson s disease (PD) is an alternative to current pharmacologic and surgical
treatments; the former are limited by motor and non motor complication, and both by lack of
neuroprotection. Gene therapy offers a means to dominate two very different but equally
significant, long term obstacles for treating human diseases. The first, involving genereplacement,
attempts to correct a specific genetic defect linked to a major component of the disease by
expressing unmutated gene. In reality, the number of patient whose neurodegenerative disease is
linked to a single genetic mutation is quite small, so the impact of this application of gene therapy
to neurology is limited. Another goal of gene therapy is to transfer therapeutic proteins to a targeted
area of the central nervous system (CNS), not... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The age old problem with the use of proteins to treat neurodegenerative diseases is that they are
large, partially polar and often labile entities that, when injected, can aggregate, misfolded and
tolerated other changes that render them biologically ineffective or worse. Moreover more
problematic for CNS indications, they do not readily cross the blood brain barrier and, when
injected directly into the brain, do not spread significantly from the point of injection, thus reducing
their exposure to the targeted tissue, which greatly decreases their therapeutic effect, finally, when
protein delivery is mistargeted, significant side effects can occur (17 20). Gene therapy (gene
transfer) refers to the use of a modified viral vector to introduce genetic information to site specific
host cells to induce targeted, long term,

Sleep Preventilation Syndrome
Sleep is defined as a complex and reversible condition where the body undergoes a period of
unresponsiveness to external stimuli. Its main feature is the behavioral quiescence and the reduced
unresponsiveness to stimulus on the exterior surfaces. Sleep is triggered and controlled by the
central nervous system that uses networks of various neurotransmitters that are localized at a
particular region in the brain. The neurotransmitters networks are redundant and any interference
with a specific localized networks tampers with the sleep condition (Holtbernd, 2014). In spite the
fact that sufficient proof on the functions of sleep is still unclear, it is unquestionable that sleep is a
vital component in the development and normal functioning of... Show more content on

But encouragingly, there are some ways we can deal with the situation either to prevent it or
reduce its severity. The most crucial treatment approach is sleep hygiene. It is exercised by using
the bed for sleep only and not reading or watching television, exercising daily, and avoiding
caffeine. Another way to deal with the conditions is by losing weight. This helps more in treating
obesity hypoventilation syndrome and insomnia (Postuma, et al. 2015). Pharmacological therapy
also is an important aspect of treatment. Some drugscan be bought in chemists and administered
under the doctor s prescriptions. Observing proper diets and activities are equally crucial in the
treatment of the disorders. It is best when patients avoid sleep interfering substances like alcohol,
caffeine, and nicotine. Large meals and spicy foods should not be taken three hours prior sleep

also interested in adding support to the existing theory that the prefrontal areas of the brainmeditate
prospective memory. (Ward et al., 2005) The authors were, for the purposes of this study, assuming

Advantages Of Four Point System For Fabric Inspection
Why Four Point System preferable for Fabric Inspection?

related quality troubles before it moved to production.
* Fabric mill: Have to inspect 100% of finished goods; defects must be recorded for each roll.
Usually four methods may be followed for fabric inspection process.
1) Graniteville 78 system.

Essay Chronicle Of A Death Foretold And Machismo
When Honor Overshadows Morality
It is ingrained into society that men have to be strong. They must uphold the standard of their
family, and must be strong, bold, courageous, and have great honor. These expectations greatly
impact how men behave, causing them to act in a way that would be deemed unethical if
machismo was not a factor in society. In the novella Chronicle of a Death Foretold, author Gabriel
Garcia Marquez uses various characters to critique the idea of machismo by exposing how it
inhibits one s ability to reason, forcing one to value respect and honor more than morality.
There is a double standard for men and women in the society when it comes to premarital sex. The
man is congratulated and unaffected by his decision to have sex before marriage, while women are
scorned and exiled for the same action. A family s honor is only tainted if it is the daughter having
sex, but not the brother. Shaming unmarried women who were not virgins is unfortunately common
in the town of the Vicarios, and machismo ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

prevents women from reaching their full potential, as it causes men to believe that they are superior

for their own good, and alters how society views their motives. In Chronicle in a Death Foretold,
machismo is a prevalent theme found throughout the novella that impacts how they characters
behave and interact with each other. Garcia Marquez s insightful details into the minds of the
characters further allows the audience to realize that not only is machismo an intense force that
drives one to value respect more than integrity, but a power that causes people to behave in terrible
ways. They will do anything in there power to remain honorable, even if it goes against everything
that they believe

between Olivia and Cesario. The song suggests that Orisino s wait will be over when he could

Farewell, dear heart, since I must needs be gone sung in the party by both Sir Toby Belch and

for Olivia and a happiness spoiler whereas he is just a steward. Because nobody likes Malvolio he

The Importance of the Sea in The Awakening Essay
The Importance of the Sea in The Awakening
Throughout her novel, The Awakening, Kate Chopin uses symbolism and imagery to portray the
main character s emergence into a state of spiritual awareness. The image that appears the most
throughout the novel is that of the sea. Chopin uses the sea to symbolize freedom, freedom from
others and freedom to be one s self (Martin 58). The protagonist, Edna Pontellier, wants that
freedom, and with images of the sea, Chopin shows Edna s awakening desire to be free and her
ultimate achievement of that freedom.
Edna s awakening begins with her vacation to the beach. There, she meets Robert Lebrun and

It will not be until months later that the voice of the sea will pull her back to it with its promises of
freedom.
The voice of the sea pulls her back with reminiscence of her childhood. Edna recalls an incident
of running through a meadow that seemed as big as the ocean (Chopin 60) This connection of
the seemingly endless field and the wide expanse of the ocean leads to a realization for Edna.
Her life is no longer as plain and simple as it had been for many years. Suddenly, she feels like a
little girl running through an unending field, unthinking and unguided (Chopin 61). She does not
know what she wants from life anymore. She has a husband and children, but the thought of them
lacks the feelings of pleasure and love that she should have for them. Instead, they are holding her
back, preventing her from running across that wide expanse of grass which symbolizes freedom.
She realizes this when she returns home, despondent over what seems to be a loss of her new
found freedom and despondent over the realization that Robert will never gie up society s
traditions to be with her, a married woman.
Edna s feelings of despondency fade as the sea s spell reaches out for her again. The narrator points
out that [the] voice of the sea is seductive, never ceasing, whispering, clamoring, murmuring,

The movie Captain America: Civil War is taken from Marvel Comics. Marvel Comics was
founded in 1939, officially named in 1961 for Marvel, former name Timely Comics, Atlas Comics.
Boasts a Spiderman, iron man, captain America, Thor, green giant, black widow. They appeared in
the movie. The main idea of the film is that Iron Man thinks that super heroes are too powerful
for the people to panic, so they have to be controlled by the government. In opposite, Captain
America believes that politics and justice are not equal. He disagreed with Iron Man. Captain
America: Civil War is cleverly constructed, distinctively stylized, and deserves to be called a

However, in the movie, besides fighting fragments, there are some scenes, which fit into three

Analysis Of The Play Macbeth

Macbeth
There are many conflicts found in the play Macbeth by Shakespeare both external and internal.
There is man vs. society, man vs. self, man vs. man, and even man vs. supernatural. In my opinion, I
believe that the central conflict in Macbeth s plot is man vs. self, an internal conflict. This internal
conflict begins when Macbeth overhears the three witch sisters, also known as the Weird Sisters,
making a prediction that one day he will be become King and rule. From this point on in the
play, he (Macbeth) is conflicted about murdering Duncan, King of Scotland, in order to gain
power. Macbeth starts of the play as a good, honest warrior and the well trusted captain of King
Duncan. Macbeth begins to experience the conflict of man vs self because of his wise to become
king (as well as his trust in the witches prediction) which directly goes against his loyalty to King
Duncan. Even though he goes through internal conflicts with himself over committing this crime
many times his ambition wins, and he becomes a killer. His conscience seems to overcome
everything else by the end, and this is also true for other characters in the play. This ambition
combined with guilt creates a man vs self conflict all throughout the play. Ambition has severe
consequences as seen when Macbeth is slain and branded a tyrant. Shakespeare does not give his
character the chance to enjoy what he has done as a way possibly to imply that it is more

the pain caused by depression. Similarly, Styron uses music as a tool to provoke his writing s
creative side, and in concurrence with alcohol, as an alternative way to evade his attention from
his suffering. Referring to music he states almost in a passing fashion, I now see, as a means to
calm the anxiety and incipient dread that I had hidden away for so long somewhere in the
dungeons of my spirit (pg. 5). Styron barely introduces the idea of the sedative effect that music has

What Are The Four Types Of Purchase Orders In Child Care...
Many child care centers design policies and procedures to assist with the requesting to buy
goods or services and purchasing of goods and services. The policies and procedures are
designed to maximize the efficiency and convenience of the purchasing process, consistent with
good business practices and in full compliance with all applicable federal regulations. Below I
have defined and listed four procedures that may be in place at centers for requisitioning and
purchasing equipment and supplies. Two of the procedures are related to requisitioning and the
other two procedures are for purchase orders. A requisition is a formal request to buy a good or
service. There are 2 types of Purchase Requisitions: 1.Special It these are for goods and services

Auto sourced Purchase Order these are purchase orders that do not require purchasing approval
prior to being sourced and dispatched to suppliers. Four ways to cut costs at your childcare
center: Staffing: Hiring the right people can make or break your business, and poor hiring
decisions will prove to be costly. Once good employees hired, make an extra effort to keep
employees happy so that you minimize the turnover rate for your business as much as possible.
Entertainment: Filling each day with fun activities while keeping your classrooms full of toys and
educational supplies comes at a cost. Actively hunting for toys on websites like Craigslist and local
Facebook Sell groups will help you to find unbeatable prices on all kinds of great toys. The same
method can be applied when looking for furniture, cupboards, etc. Buy smart and cut out any
unnecessary spending. Stay Organized: Being unorganized can cost your business money in many
different ways. Misplacing documents, losing files, and missing payments can increase your
expenses significantly. Late payments will result in interest charges and late fees. Lost files and
documents can result in lost time and the potential replacement

Trace The Pathway Of A Bill Essay
Jeanelle Carmona PSC 201 Essay #8 Trace the pathway of a bill through both houses of
congress. The process in which a bill becomes a law can be a lengthy one, it must go through
many steps in order to become the law of the land. It is believed that this process should be a
matter that every American citizen should be informed of in order to fully understand and
appreciate the inner workings of congress with regard to The House of Representatives and the
Senate. The steps in which a bill becomes a law is an example of the democratic way of life here
in The United States. The fact that a proposal cannot become a law without consideration and
approval by both houses of congress is an outstanding virtue of our bicameral legislative system.
(Sullivan 1 2) Anyone can write a bill not just a member of congress. Any citizen, group or
organization can draw up a bill. The right to petition is guaranteed by the first amendment. These
bills are usually written in the form of a letter. It is estimated that more then 15,000 bills are
introduced to The House of Representatives and the Senate each year. Each one is then assigned
to a committee after it is given a number. 22 of these committees belong to The House of
Representatives and 15 to the Senate. The majority of all laws originate in The House of
Representatives. These bills fall into two categories, private and public. A public bill is any bill
that affects the public or the nation. An example of a public bill

Theme Of Symbolism In The Cask Of Amontillado
The Cask of Amontillado , a story of revenge and murder. Montresor tells his tale of revenge
smugly, as he invites the reader to applaud his cunning. By luring a friend into the catacombs of
the Montresors, he sought to take back his family s honor. To do so, he plotted a most gruesome
murder. By telling the story from Montresor s point of view, Poe forces the reader to look into the
inner workings of a murderer s mind through his clever use of symbolism. Everything within Poe s
stories takes on symbolic meaning. Every detail seems to stand for something else or to be
presenting a vital clue. Those that we encounter in The Cask of Amontilladoare no doubt gruesome.
However, these messages that we are compelled to decipher, create the perfect atmosphere. It s
carnival season, what s usually considered a rapturous event, becomes the perfect place for murder.
Starring Montresor and Fortunato, the reaper escorting the fool; we learn of the cask, a coat of arms
and motto, as well as, one s motives. All of these factors come into symbolic play. The setting, the
title, the coat of arms, the motto, the characters names, as well as their costumes, altogether play
parts in helping make the unfortunate murder of Fortunato all the more horrid and ironic.
To begin, the setting plays a symbolic role; representing a jovial time with an ironic twist. One
could get caught up and lost within a carnival, even murdered. It was not uncommon for someone
to go missing after such events. No

Eric Foner Give Me Liberty
According to Eric Foner in his book Give Me Liberty! , there were major arguments against the
Constitution put forth by the anti federalists. The anti federalists were opponents of ratification
who insisted that the Constitution shifted the balance between liberty and power too far in the
direction of the latter. Basically their main belief was that a too powerful central government is a
threat to liberty and will continue to influence American political culture. Anti federalists were state
politicians and included Samuel Adams, John Hancock, and Patrick Henry. They drew their support
from small farmers in more isolated rural areas such as the Hudson Valley of New York, western
Massachusetts, and the southern backcountry. They repeatedly

Disaster Recovery Plan Executive Summary
For an organization to properly and effectively handle a disaster several keys steps must occur,
the first is creating and documenting proper policies and procedures to implement once the
disaster recovery plan is implemented. The second is creating an executive summary of the DR
plan that will outline the overall plan. The last key step is identifying teams and individuals that
will be part of and responsible for the disaster recoveryplan and process.
The DR team member will be on call and will be issued a company device. In addition, the DR team
members are expected to have contact information of all team members and other identified
personnel. The DR team members will have access to all organizations system information to
include, infrastructure design documents, network design documents, UPS information, utility
information and data communication locations. The DR team will also have access the data ... Show

responsibilities of all personnel; along with contact information of all team members. In
addition, the disaster recovery plan will also have the services that will need to be restored and
the order of urgency of each service. The procedures for each identified disaster will also be
documented in the DR plan; each listing the duties and responsibilities of the parties involved
(Whitman). The last part of the DR plan will provide the follow up assessment; the final section
will provide details about what is to be accomplished after disaster strikes, specifically what
documentation is required for recovery efforts, including mandatory insurance reports, required

Assimilation Interview
I was concerned about how this interview was going to go. I think that a clear majority of
people are open to talking about more sensitive topics, but there are some people who are less
comfortable about being open. Luckily, Beth was an open book and we had a great discussion. I
think that when we were interviewing one another, we both just asked and answered questions
without judgement. There was not one moment where I felt that either one of us were
uncomfortable, it felt more like a casual discussion geared at learning more about one another,
there was no judgement. As the conversation went on, I could feel that we both had a feeling of
being closer and more open with one another, which was very cool! It is sad to me that people...

On both sides of my family education was very important and college was a necessity. When I was
born, my family was already in the upper middle class, and has continued to push forward. Another
reason why my family could economically accel is because we are very conservative with our
money. While my family resides in the upper middle class, we live closer to the middle of middle
class, which I think is quite healthy. We never take vacations, all our vehicles are used, we fix
things instead of purchasing new things. Along with my family being conservative with their
money, I would say that we are overall conservative. However, many of my thoughts and ideas
differ from my direct family. I find it important to be fact driver, rational, and logical. Therefore, I
do not practice any religion, I would closest identity to being a Panthiest, or Agnostic. While I do
not practice a religion, I think spirituality and exploring what you think and value is of the utmost

  • 2. Cubism and Multiplicity of Narration in the Waste Land Cubism and Multiplicity of Narration in The Waste Land Abstract The aim of this essay is to consider the multiplicity of narration in The Waste Land and its relationship in enrichment of content and meaning in the poem. There is an attempt to convey the Cubist traits and find concrete examples in the poem. This study will try to specify evidences for conformity of cubism and multiplicity of narration in the poem. While Eliot juxtaposed so many perspectives in seemingly set of disjointed images, there is painful task of unifying .., jarring and incompatible perspectives in The Waste Land. Like a cubist painting, there is a kind of variety of narration in unity through the poem. The usage of different languages and narrations in the poem ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Part of this sense of the totality of the modern self adding up to a fractured variety emerges, not just from the shifting sense of the images and the multiplicity of narration , but also from the variety in the verse style. It s as if in the modern age, there cannot be a single authoritative way of expressing how one feels. There is not enough confidence in the forms of language itself. Just as the traditional community has become the unreal city, a vision of a modern inferno. So The Waste Land is abundant with multiplicity of narration in different language and set of seemingly disordered images. The images in The Waste Land are supported by two distinct ways of narration. The lyric voice opening the poem uses metaphoric, often symbolic images and speaks in repetitive, stylized syntax. It has suggested on the one hand order and propriety, and on the other hand stasis. This voice speaks with authority and finality as it recurs in scenes throughout the poem where the vision of barrenness and revulsion from life is intensely clear and controlled. This voice contrasts with many voices speaking in metonymically rendered narrative scenes full of movement and change. These other voices resist categorization. These voices rang from vivid characters such as Marie, the hyacinth girl, Stetson s friend, Madame Sosostris, the nervous woman, the pub woman, Tiresias, and the Thames daughters, ... The Gender of Sports Essay The Gender of Sports What are the social and cultural costs and benefits of an individual (male or female) entering a non traditional sport for their gender/sex (e.g. women enter body building, power lifting, boxing; men enter synchronized swimming or field hockey)? In today s society, particularly in the United States, an individual entering a non traditional sport for his/her gender takes on many tasks besides playing the sport, the individual also takes on the criticism (good or bad) of people who play the sport and those who watch it too. There are many social and cultural costs as well as benefits, but to what extent mostly depends on the sport and the sex of the player. The biggest thing that creates a social and ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... So even before the league started, someone felt that he/she had to prove that not all aggressive female athletes are gay. It s funny, but in a sad way, that women have to prove their sexual identity, but the men s are never questioned. The social and cultural costs of this intermingling of sexes starts with the genders that are tied to each sport, which then puts the individual s sexuality at question. If a woman enters a male sport she will be considered a lesbian and if a male entered a woman sport then he would be tagged with a gay identity. The player now has two jobs, succeed at the game and prove their sexuality, just like what the commercials were doing for the WNBA, proving the maternity of the players. Also, if an individual is of a different race or social class, then people tend to attack that side of the person. For example, some might say that the only reason why a person is good is because of their color or the only reason why someone has the opportunity is because he/she came from a wealthy background. Many people in today s society will find anything about someone to attack them and prove that what that individual is doing is wrong and bad for society and/or for the sport and apply labels to them. These labels lead to harassment and when it is not dealt with appropriately it can contribute to many social crises . It may interfere with and affect an individual s physical and emotional health, which will lead ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 7. The Dilemmas Of Public Education And Public School... The greatly discussed dilemma of having a child be taught in a public school setting versus a homeschool setting has been evaluated by parents since the idea was first introduced in the 1970 s. Public schooling had been the standard method of teaching since it is a requirement for states to provide public, free educationfor children in grades K 12. However, the backlash against the system began when two educational theorists and supporters of schoolreform, John Holt and Raymond Moore, started to question both the techniques and the products of public schools. Some parents went on to support the ideas of them and began to teach their children in the environment of their own homes for several different reasons. Some included moral or religious reasons, a desire for high educational achievement, dissatisfaction with public schools instructional program, or concerns about drugs and peer pressure in a public school environment. Child development specialists believe that homeschooled children are isolated from the outside world, therefore making them socially handicapped. If being exposed to this type of education on an elementary school level, the child can suffer from the lack of fundamental development of effective social skills needed for a lifetime ahead of them. It is believed that by restricting children from the real world and its many problems through home schooling, they may never get the chance to learn both life lessons and social interaction skills on their own ... • 8. The Man That Was Used Up By Edgar Allan Poe The concept of a man machine mixture was widespread in science fiction before World War II. As early as 1843, Edgar Allan Poe described a man with extensive prostheses in the short story The Man That Was Used Up . In 1911, Jean de la Hire introduced the Nyctalope, a science fiction hero who was perhaps the first literary cyborg, in Le MystГЁre des XV (later translated as The Nyctalope on Mars).[7][8][9] Edmond Hamilton presented space explorers with a mixture of organic and machine parts in his novel The Comet Doom in 1928. He later featured the talking, living brain of an old scientist, Simon Wright, floating around in a transparent case, in all the adventures of his famous hero, Captain Future. He uses the term explicitly in the 1962 short story, After a Judgment Day, to describe the mechanical analogs called Charlies, explaining that [c]yborgs, they had been called from the first one in the 1960s...cybernetic organisms. In the short story No Woman Born in 1944, C. L. Moore wrote of Deirdre, a dancer, whose body was burned completely and whose brain was placed in a faceless but beautiful and supple mechanical body. The term was coined by Manfred E. Clynes and Nathan S. Kline in 1960 to refer to their conception of an enhanced human being who could survive in extraterrestrial environments: For the exogenously extended organizational complex functioning as an integrated homeostatic system unconsciously, we propose the term Cyborg . The Representations of Femininity in Pride and Prejudice Jane Austen, one of the most well known 19th century novelists recognized today continues to captivate people with stories of love and romance through the transformation of her novels into film and television. All of her novels are about women dealing with romance, courtship, and marriage during a repressing period. Most of her characters and stories revolve around the lives of the upper class. It centers on the values, rituals, and manners of high society in England during the Regency Era. In Roberta Grandi s article, The Passion Translated: Literary and Cinematic Rhetoric in Pride and Prejudice, she observes that in an age when naked bodies are overexposed and sex is common topic of discussion, costume films rediscover a taste for visual repression. Through the concealment of the bodies and translation of their sensuality into objects, both voyeuristic and fetishist sensations are enhanced (50) which I believe is the reason behind the lasting appeal of period dramas. This will keep audiences, especially the younger viewers today, engaged in the characters conversations, actions and tiny gestures in an attempt to decipher what the characters truly feel and think as in Grandi s words, if passion is nowhere expressed it means that passion is concealed everywhere (50). • 10. Gun Laws And Practices Regulate Gun Control Guns have always been a major problem in the United States of America. The Second Amendment to the Constitution gives us the right to bear arms, which makes everyone feel they need to have a gun, and that can lead to dangerous situations for people in the US. It is very easy to get yourself a gun. It costs less than an iPhone to get. The problem I am trying to get at is that there are inevitably going to be gun use violations, and people can use the Second Amendment to get guns way too easily. My essay will deal with how we can create laws and practices to regulate guns, how we can stop guns from getting into the wrong hands, and also how we can prevent mass shootings. This is all one big picture. There is a slippery slope, where one problem leads to another. I feel that most people don t understand what the Second Amendment means to other people. Many people think, I have to carry a gun on me at all times or, Since I have the right to, I am going to buy assault rifles and machine guns for the hell of it. See the Second Amendment. But nowhere in the Second Amendment does it state that you have a right to bear arms to protect your home, or if you feel you are in danger. It is so easy to obtain almost any gun. I mean, someone could easily buy a machine gun or assault rifle. A simple background check and it is yours. And unfortunately, these mass shootings do occur as a result. These shooters can be homegrown terrorists, or tied to terrorist organizations overseas. ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 11. Describe And Comparing The Chemical Functions Of DNA And DNA DNA: Structure and Replication 1. Describe and compare the chemical compositions of DNA and RNA. DNA and RNA are nucleic acids; they are characterized by being long chains that are called polymers, from other units called nucleotides. With the DNA and RNA, it is expected to have a variety of polynucleotide chains. The nucleotides are intertwined by means of covalent bonds between sugar of a nucleotide and the phosphate of the next. This results in an ordered backbone pattern. As well as the DNA as the RNA have purine nitrogenous bases adenine and guanine and the pyrimidine cytosine. 2. Describe the key features of the overall shape of a DNA molecule. The main activities of the DNA are thymine, cytosine, adenine, guanine, and uracil. Thymine is like an individual ring structure, it is an organic compound that descends from the pyrimidine family which is one of the main constituents of deoxyribonucleic acid, thymine is replaced by the uracil nucleus base. A cytosine is a fundamental unit of nucleic acids; it is the main nucleotide of leukemia and cancer. Adenine is a purine base found in DNA and RNA. Adenine is a fundamental compound of adenine nucleotides, adenosine form which is a nucleoside when the ribosome is filled. Guanine consists of a pyrimidine imidazole fused ring system with double bonds. The uracil found in RNA is paired with adenine and can also be replaced by thymine in DNA. • 16. Application Of Cellulases On Juice Recovery Application of Cellulases on Juice Recovery Introduction Cellulose is the most abundant compound produced from stalks, leaves, and stems (Shankar, 2011). The use of enzymes in the food industry provides safer and higher quality products. Cellulases are enzymes which break down the sugar cellulose. Cellulase enzymes are produced by fungi, animals, plants, and bacteria. (Zhang 2013) The cellulase enzyme has been used for various industry applications such as the textile industry, paper industry, and juice industry. Cellulases link beta, 1,4 linkages in the cellulose chains (Zhang 2013). There are three types of cellulase enzymes: endoglucanases, exoglucanases, and beta glucosidases. Exoglucanases act on the reducing or non reducing ends of cellulose (Zhang, 2013). Endoglucanases cut the nonreducing ends of cellulose or the beta 1,4 bonds. Endoglucanases are also produced by bacteria, fungi, plants, and animals (Zhang,2013). Lastly, beta glucosidases are produced by archaea, bacteria, fungi, plants, and animals and are known for degrading cellobiose (Zhang, 2013). All three forms of cellulases are produced from animals, bacteria, and plants. The purpose of this paper will be to discuss mainly the cellulase enzyme and its effect on the juice industry in addition to other applications of cellulase, and how cellulase behaves in combination with other enzymes such as pectinase and xylanase. 1.Beverage Industry Fruit contains a cell wall which consists of 10% proteins and 90% ... Start string the mixture Once final required colour is attained stop cooking and Pour in moulds CARAMEL AND CRYSTALLIZATION When a wet caramel is made, first we make a sugar syrup which is sugar dissolved in water. The water evaporates as heating process continue to make caramel, the syrup becomes super saturated, which means that it holds more sugar molecules than the normal capacity of water. Due to this, the sugar tries to re crystallize. If this happens, final product ends up with a pan full of clear rock candy. In order to avoid this, we have to make sure pan is spotlessly clean. Sugar molecules have jagged edges and can easily stick to each other or to the impurities from the pan. A tool is required to stir caramel, which may contain impurities leading to crystallization, some people also say that stirring in itself (after the sugar has dissolved) can cause the sugar syrup to crystallize, as stirring encourages the sugar molecules to clump together. As a response to them winners, especially Americans, started to adopt children from the war torn countries (Wilkinson 1995, 174). Thus, it was a start point for international adoption. Intercountry (international or transnational) adoption is defined as adoption, where child is removed to the adoptees country. Gene therapy offers a means to dominate two very different but equally significant, long term obstacles for treating human diseases. The first, involving genereplacement, attempts to correct a specific genetic defect linked to a major component of the disease by expressing unmutated gene. In reality, the number of patient whose neurodegenerative disease is linked to a single genetic mutation is quite small, so the impact of this application of gene therapy to neurology is limited. There is man vs. society, man vs. self, man vs. man, and even man vs. supernatural. In my opinion, I believe that the central conflict in Macbeth s plot is man vs. self, an internal conflict. This internal conflict begins when Macbeth overhears the three witch sisters, also known as the Weird Sisters, making a prediction that one day he will be become King and rule. From this point on in the play, he (Macbeth) is conflicted about murdering Duncan, King of Scotland, in order to gain power. Macbeth starts of the play as a good, honest warrior and the well trusted captain of King Duncan. Macbeth begins to experience the conflict of man vs self because of his wise to become king (as well as his trust in the witches prediction) which directly goes against his loyalty to King Duncan. Even though he goes through internal conflicts with himself over committing this crime many times his ambition wins, and he becomes a killer. His conscience seems to overcome everything else by the end, and this is also true for other characters in the play. This ambition combined with guilt creates a man vs self conflict all throughout the play. Ambition has severe consequences as seen when Macbeth is slain and branded a tyrant. As shown in both Judith Guest s novel Ordinary People and William Styron s essay Darkness Visible, music is a recurring symbol that functions as a helping aid throughout the stages of recovery. Both Conrad, the protagonist of Ordinary People, and Styron are tormented with severe depression and trying to overcome suicidal urges; Guest shares Conrad s journey of recovery, while Styron reflects on his own experience of suffering. These stories slightly differ in genre, since one is fiction and the other is non fiction, but both authors use music as a way to dilute the conditions of depression and simultaneously advance their... Rainy Day Man, an old James Taylor tune... He hums it through to relax himself (pg. 21). Music symbolizes his antidepressant; it is the method he uses to cope with discomfort. Conrad uses music to escape the pain caused by depression. Similarly, Styron uses music as a tool to provoke his writing s creative side, and in concurrence with alcohol, as an alternative way to evade his attention from his suffering. Referring to music he states almost in a passing fashion, I now see, as a means to calm the anxiety and incipient dread that I had hidden away for so long somewhere in the dungeons of my spirit (pg. 5). The process in which a bill becomes a law can be a lengthy one, it must go through many steps in order to become the law of the land. It is believed that this process should be a matter that every American citizen should be informed of in order to fully understand and appreciate the inner workings of congress with regard to The House of Representatives and the Senate. The steps in which a bill becomes a law is an example of the democratic way of life here in The United States. • 47. Assimilation Interview I was concerned about how this interview was going to go. I think that a clear majority of people are open to talking about more sensitive topics, but there are some people who are less comfortable about being open. Luckily, Beth was an open book and we had a great discussion. I think that when we were interviewing one another, we both just asked and answered questions without judgement. There was not one moment where I felt that either one of us were uncomfortable, it felt more like a casual discussion geared at learning more about one another, there was no judgement. As the conversation went on, I could feel that we both had a feeling of being closer and more open with one another, which was very cool! It is sad to me that people...
