Acceptance of Death in Yeats’s ‘An Irish Airman Foresees...
W. B. Yeats s poem An Irish Airman Foresees his Death and Shakespeare s poem Come Away, Come
Away, Death both deal with the theme of impending death, although by varying causes. While the
poems employ similar figurative and sonic elements of language, their tone and style vary. Yeats s
poem is primarily a war poem that serves as an elegy for the Irish pilot Major Robert Gregory who
died in WWI. As opposed to this Shakespeare s poem is a lamenting love song sung by the character
of Feste in Twelfth Night. Despite being different in setting, they both express an acceptance of death.
While both poems convey an awareness of death approaching, the causes of death are different.

This regular rhythm, reminiscent of the rhythm of a funeral march, creates a somber atmosphere that
amplifies the tone of the poems, the coming to peace with death. The regularity of the rhythm is
further intensified by the use of poetic devices such as alliteration, caesura and repetition. In Yeats s
poem the regularity of rhythm is augmented by the same length of lines with a tetrameter that follows
throughout the poem, providing not only and audible uniformity, but also a visual one. This uniformity
is reminiscent of the uniformity one associates with the army. Yeats uses alliteration of c and t in the
line My country is Kiltartan Cross (5). While adding to the consistency to the poem s rhythmic beat,
this also emphasizes the content, i.e. the airman didn t fight for any country or cause, but rather for his
village of Kiltartan Cross. In contrast to Yeats s poem, Shakespeare s Come Away, Come Away, Death
is neither visually nor audibly uniform. The poem s line lengths vary and alternate with long and short
lines. This affects the poem both visually and audibly, reflecting it s song like quality. The fact that the
poem is closer to a song is linked to its theme. A lament on death due to love would more
appropriately be expressed through song. This strong emotion is expressed through the use of
hyperbole such as a thousand thousand sighs to save (13), this repetition of thousand , conveys that

Gevonese Crime Family Counterculture Essay
A counterculture is a subculture that rejects the major values of the larger society and replaces them
with a new set of cultural patterns (Thomas). The Gevonese crime family is one of the countercultures
in America. The reason why the Gevonese family is a counterculture is because of their acts of crime
and their code of Omertá a rule that forbids speaking or providing knowledge about specific activities,
even the activities of a criminal group (Farlex). Their actions and code of Omertá is unacceptable to
Americans because most of Americans believe in an honest living and are taught that cooperating with
law enforcement is the right thing to do. The Gevonese crime family is one of the strongest organized
crime families in the country and is one of the Five Families of New York. In the 1930 s, the family
was established after Charles Lucky Luciano but was reestablished after Vito Gevonese took control in
1957. The family is unique in the fact that they have had just five members testify against them as
witnesses for the state in their history. Their regard for Omertá has protected them from prosecution
and helped to maintain their influence in New York and nearby areas. In years past, however, they
could not escape mockery as they were controlled by Vincent The Chin Gigante, who walked

Compare and Contrast the Marketing Strategies of Li Ning...
Compare and contrast the marketing strategies of Li Ning domestically and internationally
With the development of Chinese economy, sports industry has become one of the new industries in
china, which has large market size and high growth rate (Qinqin, n.d.). In Chinese sports area, Li Ning
brand, built by famous gymnast Li Ning (Enright, 2012), is the market leader and owns about 8000
hypostatic shops domestically (Zhang,2011). Similar to some international famous brands like Nike
and Adidas, Li Ning intends to enhance influence by exploring international market (Sauer, 2012). For
this reason, the essay will compare and contrast the marketing strategies of Li Ning domestically and
internationally. A close look at the sources ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
With a view to the situation, on the one hand, Li Ning decided to slow the pace of new openings and
close some inefficient stores to curtail expense and store energy (Ranasinghe, 2012); on the other
hand, Li Ning would enter the second tier cities to achieve next phase of growth (Anon, 2012).
To sum up, in internal aspect, Li Ning chooses both entity sales and e commerce sales at home and
abroad. Different focuses are determined due to large name reputation difference. To achieve more
popularity, Li Ning focuses on Olympic Games and sports super stars with different slogans.
Furthermore, in external aspect, facing the customers different consumption views on Chinese brands
domestically and internationally, Li Ning transforms its attention to younger people and set new
different target groups both domestic and foreign. Li Ning has been facing increased competition with
global names and local rivals, and what is why Li Ning determines to slow the pace of new openings
and enter the second tier cities. In future, Li Ning could make greater breakthrough by implementing
brand strategy, constructing international brand image, developing technology innovation and
improving enterprises core competitiveness (Zhang, 2012).

Political Climate In Public Administration
In 1932, in response to the economic depression, President Franklin D. Roosevelt, promised the
people a new deal. The new deal was intended to provide much needed relief, recovery, and reform to
the American people, by seeking to stabilize the economy and provide jobs to those who were
suffering. It forced a change in the structure of American government and pushed it to play a bigger
role in the financing of social programs. This new reform changed how government functioned at the
state and federal levels and introduced new ideas of centralization, management, planning, efficiency
measurement, and new forms of social programs. It was during this time, that management in the U.S.,
was recognized as its own discipline and introduced the political approach to public administration.
Political Climate of the 1930s 1950s, an Overview of Public Administration Theories of Chester
Bernard, Luther Gulick, and Robert K. Morton
Introduction
The purpose of this essay is to explore and compare the theoretical perspectives of theorists Charles E.
Lindblom, Chester Bernard and Luther Gulick, and their impact on the creation and approach to the
science of administration. In the early years, influences from authors Woodrow Wilson, Frank
Goodnow, L D White, and F.W. Willoughby, and their philosophies of public administration helped to
reaffirm the need to separate the political functions and administrative functions of the government.
However, following WWII, the opposition to

John Cage Research Paper
John Cage is a controversial composer. Some may say he revolutionized music composition and
changed music history of the 20th century, yet others do not even acknowledge his compositional
contributions as music. I believe John Cage was a brilliant artist, and his works push the boundaries of
both sound and music to create a genre of his own by using the elements of silence and chance.
Through his compositional development, one can track his changing music philosophy as it grew from
a limited notion of silence, to the enjoyment of the element of chance, to a redefined meaning of
silence that reaches beyond the grasp of most innovators still today. In a recording of Cage s piece
Seven2 one can hear a landscape created through sporadic sound. ... Show more content on

The Juilliard Journal referred to John Cage s compositional experimentation as transforming a familiar
instrument into something enticingly alien. Cage began experimenting with instruments early in his
musical career by first altering pianos with metal plates and screws before playing them. In the 1960 s
Cage began a new movement appropriately titled found Sound. ( John Cage: About the Composer ).
He used unconventional instruments such as handheld radios, water, and sea shells. He was pushing
the boundaries of music by claiming that sound is a form of music. The randomness of it added an
element of chance to these experiments, some recordings could never be duplicated. What makes the
music of John Cage easily recognizable is it s unpredictability. The two well known pieces employing
chance operations are Imaginary Landscape No 4″ and Water Music. While I personally find these
pieces hard to listen to, Cage s philosophy regarding the role of chance within music is an important
development in the world of music history, for it led to him furthering the definition of music. Music
doesn t have to be written and replicated specifically for it to be considered a fully composed and
developed work. Imaginary Landscape No 4, consisting of twelve radios played at once sounds
different every time based on the broadcasts playing, yet it is still a fully developed musical

Argumentative Essay On Catch 22
Imagine seeing more and more comrades dying while flying combat missions, being caught up in the
middle of a corrupt business takeover, not being able to get discharged from combat due to
paradoxical logic, and constantly having to evade a comrade s rage induced whore who s out to
murder. These are common scenes found in the controversial book of Catch 22 . Catch 22 is a mid war
dramatic novel written by Joseph Heller. Published in 1961, the story is set in the middle of World War
II and revolves around Captain John Yossarian and his fellow soldiers, commanders, and a priest. The
story revolves heavily around Yossarian s constant attempts to get out of the war. As a man that has

For example, Dickstein s article points out a multitude of ways in which the American people refused
participation in the war (the Vietnamese War) and linked it to Yossarian s actions throughout the book,
By the late sixties, seeing through everything became the most convincing way of looking at the
world. This morality of refusal motivated protesters, draft resisters, and deserters alike. (Dickstein)
Dickstein s article also goes on to talk about the impact of Catch 22 on American s psyche; with the
wide spread popularity of the book people saw the darkness of the war. Death and madness were part
of the mental climate as the fifties turned into the sixties...With such outrageous twists, Heller s book
hit home in a new way. (Dickstein) Also, Dickstein even goes to the extent of comparing Ronald
Reagan s message, when he was trying to ease the tension from the Vietnam War, of self seeking was
the American way as being the personification of Yossarian. Thusly, it is through these comparisons
and attitudes that Catch 22 became the basis for American s animosity towards war which
consequently affected America s society as a

Analysis Of David And Goliath s The Giants Game
Thesis
David and Goliath is a book that talks about what happens when everyday people confront giants.
Sometimes what we think is an advantage becomes a disadvantage. We realize that weakness becomes
a strength as we learn to compensate for it. Trying to play the Giants game is rarely successful. To win
against the Giants you have to try different strategies. Underdogs fight differently that giants do. When
you face you giants these are some possible things that may happen when we face our giants.
Introduction
You have to adopt a different strategy to win. In life we often miss read the odds, assuming they are

Sometimes doing what you think is best is the right thing to do.
When we think dyslexia, we immediately cast the victim as the underdog in most situations. The
reason why we do so is because we think in order to be successful in this competitive world, you have
to be able to do everything better than your competitor does. When in reality you do not have to.
David Boies, a world renowned lawyer, had dyslexia. But he realized his weakness and made it his
strength. Beginning at a young age, Boies realized he had a hard time reading, but instead of giving
up, he tried harder. Boies would listen carefully and contently as someone spoke and his memory
became a formidable instrument. This was Boies greatest strength: his ability to listen and keep
everything he heard in his memory. Boies and many other dyslexics were not always successful at
doing so. For example, Gary Cohn had discovered that he failed more than he succeeded. Gary
realized that accepting the chance of failure made his life a whole lot easier, and sometimes more
exciting. At a young age, he made a fateful decision to jump in a cab with a stock broker, who
happened to be very high up in the ranks, and within an hour he was able to manipulate this man into
believing that he was a successful options trader. The man bit the bait hook line and sinker, landing

organization on campus. You find us working jobs on campus, and no matter where you find one,
Greeks play a pretty active role here on campus.
Now a days when people see Greek letters on a house or an individual wearing them on their chest, I
feel a lot of people with the exception of the few people who truly know what it is to be Greek, see us
as the way we are portrayed in movies and TV shows. Party crazed animals with no respect to

Essay on World War I
World War I
World War I involved more countries and caused greater destruction than any other war, except World
War II. An assassin s bullet set off the war, and a system of military agreements plunged the main
European powers into the fight. Each side expected a quick victory; but the war lasted four years and
took the lives of nearly ten million military troops. Military drafts raised larger armies than ever
before, and extreme patriotism gave men a cause they were willing to die for. Progaganda whipped up
support for the war by making the enemy seem villainous.

Enlightened Absolutism In The 18th Century
In late eighteenth century Germany, the concept of enlightened absolutism was predominately absent.
Although it may have appeared that monarchs of the time were using personal power to improve the
lives of their subjects, monarchs were doing quite the opposite.
Robert S. Taylor, a professor of political science at the University of California Davis, believes such
rulers only used enlightened ways to get what they desired. Using German philosopher of the
enlightenment era Immanuel Kant as a supporter, Taylor declares: While [Kant s] support for
enlightened absolutism was sincere, he believed that such rule was enlightened only insofar as it was
ultimately self extinguishing, a process made possible by the myopic self interest of the monarch ...

Immanuel Kant Analysis
During the 18th and 19th centuries, the Age of Enlightenment dominated European life. This
movement emphasized the use of human reason to revolutionize the political, religious, and
philosophical ways of European life. Furthermore, various philosophers and writers during this era led
this movement, including Immanuel Kant. For Kant, enlightenment is defined as man s release from
his self incurred tutelage. He blamed society for forcing ideas onto people, as well as the individual
for remaining captive to the thoughts of others. The point of enlightenment, in Kant s opinion, was for
individuals to emerge from the darkness and break the chains of bondage that society had put on its
citizens. The following is a further explanation of what enlightenment ... Show more content on

was one of the most influential philosophes during this era and his novel suggested that enlightenment
was attainable; however, much like Kant, Voltaire believes by and large the ordinary citizen will not

because it shifted the way individuals engaged in politics, religion, and society. Furthermore, during
this age, numerous philosophers emerged, including Kant and Voltaire. Kant encouraged people to

Reflection Of Reading
Before I understood the meaning of words or letters, I loved to read. There is a picture of me in my
childhood photo album, where I am sitting in a wagon surrounded by books. I am wearing red plaid
overalls and a bright green shirt, my hair is in pigtails and I am fixated on the book which rests on my
lap. Although I do not remember this moment, I can tell you exactly what I was doing: I was
examining the pictures of the book and making my own story. I was pointing to each individual word
on the page and saying what I thought it was based on the story I created. This was my favorite way to
pass time at this age, staring at pictures and pretending that I could read as if I were an adult. From a
young age, I was fascinated by adults I thought they were in a secret club that I wanted to be a part of.
I would press my head to doors and sneak around to see what was happening behind my back. I saw
reading as my pass into adulthood, that once I could read I would age 18 years and finally be a grown
up. Therefore, from the age of 3 I dedicated myself to reading, I had no understanding of letters,
sounds, or words yet I still had my face in a book. One day, I was with my friend when I excitedly
demonstrated my reading skills. I read the book as I practiced examining the pictures and then running
my finger over the words, imagining what they might say. I tried to remember the way my mom read
me the book before I went to bed each night. The excitement I felt was surreal, I felt smart

An Introduction Of Navajo Constellations
An Introduction to Navajo Constellations Throughout our existence, mankind has looked up to the
stars with a fantastical wonderment that excites a feeling of the unknown. In order to understand the
heavens above us, ancient cultures created grand mythologies utilizing valiant heroes, gods, and life
practices and then imbedded these stories into the stars in the form of constellations. One of these
cultures is the Navajo Native American tribe that resided in the southwest region of the United States.
By viewing these constellations and the myths behind them, we can learn about what they Navajo held
scared and how they viewed the world around them. An important aspect of Navajo culture is the time
period in which traditional stories can be told. Stories of the sky which include the moon, sun, and
stars can only be told during the winter months which is regarded as the time from the first first,
usually in October, until the first thunderstorm, usually in late February. It is currently winter as this is
being written so the following information falls in accordance with Navajo tradition. We ask that this
only be read and shared during the appropriate time period to respect the traditions of a most noble
people. The Navajo are the largest federally recognized Native American Indian tribe in the United

Introduction To Gun Control Essay
English Research Paper Gun Control Introductory If you take guns away from legal gun owners, then
the only people who would have guns would be the bad guys. Bruce Willis. Americans of the age of
twenty one should be able to own guns, with a mandatory background and mental check before
purchase. Before any firearm sale at antique shops, background checks should be performed. Parents
should keep unloaded weapons locked away in a safe place, and should talk to their children about
gun safety, and why it is important. Before shooting on the range, kids should be safely taught how to
dry fire (if possible), and learn how to safely handle guns. Unsafe gun handling should never be

broken away from Rome, England was on its own and to some degree in a vulnerable situation
especially when England was threatened by a Catholic crusade from The Empire and France. Henry
was alarmed by this threat and used monastic wealth to build up England s defences. Henry spent a

invading Scotland, if he really did want to gain glory and prestige, it would be gained from invading a
great power for example France, therefore, showing once again that Henry s main concern when
invading Scotland was national security.
When Henry invaded France in 1544, his main concern was national security as France had been a
traditional enemy and invading France would be seen as a glory war, but this came second in his
foreign policy, as France had threatened England with crusades in 1540 s, therefore, he had to protect
his security, by striking first. Even though Henry personally captured Bologne when he invaded
France, was mainly prestige, but was also in order to prove a point to his enemy that no power can
threaten England s security.

Paris, but also because having the greatest power in Europe On you side at the time, mean t that

Child Labour Dbq
Child workers in factories Children were viewed as a dispensable source of labour during the
Industrial Revolution. Evidence of this is that they were given potentially dangerous jobs, worked to
the point of exhaustion and harshly punished for their actions. Children were viewed as dispensable
because they were given potentially dangerous jobs. The jobs that children were made to do in
factories and mines were often in tight enclosed spaces or close to dangerous heavy machinery.
Evidence of this can be found in sources one, two and seven. Source one explains the job that
scavengers were given which is cleaning the machines while they were still working. This is very
dangerous as if they are not glued to the ground, hair can easily be ripped out their hair. Source two is
a quote from a doctor in Manchester during that time. He stated that they were terrible accidents.
Sometimes the children s hands and arms were caught in the machinery;in many instances the
muscles, and the skin is stripped down to the bone, and in ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
These jobs often had long hours with tiny breaks and no nourishing food. Evidence of this can be
found in sources four and five. Source four is a quote from Richard Ostler which states very often the
children are woken at 4am. They work for 16 hours, with little breaks, until they go home at night to
their parents . Source five explains the food they ate. Oatcake was thick and coarse and was the
children s breakfast and supper. Their dinner was potato pie wit boiled bacon inside. This tasted awful,
but they were hungry enough to eat anything. Non nutritious food and sleep deprivation helped cause
exhaustion. This affected their work pace and proves that they were used as a dispensable source. It
also showed that the people running the factories wanted the machines to just keep going and didn t
care about how the workers, especially children, were

A Leader And An Ethical Leader Essay
Paul Bear Bryant Paul Bear Bryant once ended a quote with the price of victory is high, but so are the
rewards. (King King, 2006, p. 53). That still rings true today as leaders look back on their journeys,
and the substantial price that it took in reaching their vision. I claim Paul Bear Bryant was indeed a
visionary leader and an ethical leader as he continuously rallied countless men around a common goal
of excellence and effectively guided them to achieve that very goal not only on the football field but in
life. He was able to do so by having a strong understanding of diversity and the impact it had in the
building of his coaches and players, as well as what it took to advance those individuals toward the
vision by way of transformational leadership and effective use of Inspirational Motivation. Bryant
often led by example, and some of these examples were displayed in the way he chose to stay true to
principles and avoid ethical traps in his disciplining of star quarterback, Joe Namath. He further
displayed his ethical style in leading his team through racial integration in the early 1970 s by having
the open mindedness and intellectual courage it took to make that unpopular decision. In the next few
pages, I will display how Bryant was a visionary and ethical leader, and then reflect on the visionary
and ethical leadership experiences within my own career: how I used diversity and inspirational
motivation in reaching our F 35 goal at Hill AFB, and my

The Mentality Of Baseball In Fences By August Wilson
August Wilson uses baseball ideology to construct the mindset of his protagonist, Troy Maxson, in
Fences ; however, Wilson also uses Troy to embody black America in the 50s. The metaphorical and
literal significance of baseball is the driving force Troy s subjectivity and ideology. Whether it be
comparing death to baseball pitch, warning his son to not strikeout, or complaining about being stuck
on first base, Troy uses baseball to explain life to those around him. Ironically, it is baseball that
actually leads to Troy s psychic castration. Although Troy was older when he was released from prison
and playing in the Negro leagues, racism held younger players from competing with white Americans
and there is no doubt that Troy saw this as what held him back as well. Unable to play in the major
leagues bitters Troy s attitude towards life and affects his relationship with his son, Cory, and wife,
Rose. While on a micro level, the rules and mechanics of baseball have a negative impact on Troy s
mentality, on a macro level Troy s loyalty to the game can be seen as an empowering force for black
America in the 50s. The idea of not striking out, and the fetish of the home run is meant to represent
the black community s resistance against society s racism during this time. Although the ideology of
baseball consumes Troy to the point of his own personal strikeouts, the ideology itself, and who Troy
represents, is suppose to represent black America s fight against a racist

Examples Of Superstitions
A superstition is a set of thoughts that are incongruent with reality, which lead to a series of doings,
behaviours and beliefs that an object or action that is not related to a group of events influences its
outcomes (Akova, 2011; Damisch, Stoberock, Mussweiler, 2010). There are superstitious people all
around the world, with different religions, beliefs, cultures and traditions (Akova, 2011).
Superstitions can serve to give either good or bad luck, some examples can be: crossing fingers, four
leaf clovers, knocking on wood, breaking a mirror, seeing a black cat, opening an umbrella inside the
house, or even a set of steps self made before an event (Akova, 2011).
Skinner proved that superstitious behaviours do not only occur in humans by doing an experiment
with a group of hungry pigeons. For a few minutes each day, he gave the ... Show more content on

This paranormal belief may be the result of those with an external locus of control attempting to deal
with the uncontrollability of their lives. On the contrary, individuals who present an internal locus of
control do not necessarily hold superstitions, probably because they do not have the need of coping
with the uncontrollability of their lives (Stanke Taylor, 2004).
Religiosity and superstition
In many studies, it has been found that religiosity correlates with the occurrence of superstitious
behaviours and paranormal beliefs. Apparently, a higher degree of religiosity correlates with a higher
frequency of reporting beliefs in paranormal experiences or the supernatural (Stanke Taylor, 2004).
However, religion considers superstitions as extravagant and irrational, but religion itself could be
practiced in a superstitious way, not actually believing in god but praying once in a while and
attending church just in case (Delacroix Guillard, 2008).

Naked Lunch Play Summary
How does the play Naked Lunch by Michael Hollinger reflect or challenge my values? After reading
the play, I would have to say that this play challenges my values in more than one way. Lucy states to
Vernon that since they broke up, she has become a vegetarian. I don t eat meat anymore (Meyers,
2017, pp.989). however, after Vernon ensues that she eats the meat she gives into him and takes the
bite. Finally, Lucy opens her mouth and takes the bite of it (Meyer, 2017, pp.991). This weakness
challenges my values if I believe in something or against something I would not break my values to
appease someone. Also, Lucy is weak and afraid of Vernon, but she came to him for dinner after they
were broke up. Vernon also knows that Lucy is weak

The Power Of The Pack Is Unleashed
In my office I have a picture on the wall of wolfs grouping together into a pack with one clear leader
standing tall in the mist of them. There is a motivational statement on the bottom, of which the final
wording reads by the strength of the leader the power of the pack is unleashed . This concept of the
power of the leader is universal in every business, to include nonprofits. But how is a Chief Executive
Officer (CEO) or Executive Director (ED) to lead in financial matters when they do not possess a
strong financial background? Within the following paragraphs we will look briefly at ways to ensure
the CEO or ED are strong financial leaders and steps to utilize in executing this financial leadership.
Ensuring Strong Financial Leadership
There are some that will say that true leaders surround themselves with great people. Although that
may be true, when it comes to the financial health of the organization, simply having a trusted Chief
Financial Officer (CFO), financial team, or financial consultant is not enough. A senior executive
without an understanding of finance cannot make use of such information or make financial decisions
to lead the organization well (Crawford, 2010). So what is an organization to do? The easiest, most
effective method is simply to recruit a leader that already has a background in finances. As reported in
Forbes magazine, about 30 percent of Fortune 500 CEOs spent the first few years of their careers
developing a strong foundation in

Sir Winston Churchill s We Shall Fight On The Beaches

able to channel into audience patriotic spirit and desire to preserve, by depicting the deeds of the brave

Drones overall will be more impactful than I think people will recognize, in positive ways to help

Compare And Contrast Ancient Egypt Vs America
Ancient civilizations and empires have captured the eye and attention of historians for hundreds of
years. From the lost civilization of Alexandria to the ever present myth of Atlantis (fact or fiction?),
history that has grown has caught the eye of many. Particularly, Ancient Egypt seems as rich in history
and secrets as Greece or Rome. Egypt and modern day America don t hold as many similarities as one
might think, but they seem entangled together regardless of differences. Ancient Egypt and modern
day America hold many similarities. In terms of roots in society, both Egypt and America started out
as simple agrarian societies. America was rooted in agricultural success in its early life before it
advanced towards a more industrialized one in the 1760s to the 1820 40s. Both Egypt and America
also, alongside the agrarian heritage, were multiracial and multicultural in essence. Due to Egypt

Globalization And Convergence Of Us.gaap Ifrs Standard As...
There is a clear roadmap to social globalization and convergence of US.GAAP IFRS Standard as
prescribed by the Security and Exchange Commission (SEC) for users that set up financial statements
in accordance with IFRS as issued by IASB. This followed would lead to a worldwide adoption of
IFRS over the next few years. In his work, Barry (2009, p.26 27) states, The advantage of a single set
of financial reporting standards are manifest, particularly as internationalization of business activities
became the norm. In particular, having uniform, high quality standards has been extolled as fostering
international business relationships, with the goal being the facilitation of cross border capital flows
and lowering the cost of capital _ the expected results of the anticipated reduction of perceived
accounting risk . It has been argued that uniform financial reporting standards will result in lowered
cost of capital, where investors will be willing to accept lower returns interest from their investment in
corporate securities. This will be achieved when the riskiness of their investment is reduced to the
acceptable level. To improve an investors confidence, the SEC provides domestic registration of
foreign entities and reconciliation to U.S. GAAP from respective national GAAP. This means that
IFRS has gained a much broader acceptance even in the European Union especially when the EU

The Pros And Cons Of World Population Control
Have you ever wondered what the answer to world problems is? World population control is one
option, but it is not a good one. Some say that it would help improve life, and would help bring
balance to the world. However, I believe that population control would not truly help anyone. World
population control is not the answer to world problems, for it would take away human life, the right to
have kids, and in the long run would not help any living thing.
The idea of population control started out many years ago. The person who first started Planned
Parenthood wanted to control the population of African Americans because she wanted less of them
around (National Public Radio). She tried to persuade more African Americans to come to Planned
Parenthood than people of other races. In addition, there was forced population control during the
Holocaust, a time in World War II, when Nazi Germany tried to exterminate all Jews and others the
Germans did not like (National Public Radio). This was because Adolf Hitler discriminated against
anyone not white or German. In the late 20th century, the Chinese decided to make a rule to where

The Upper Room Discourse ( John 13-17 )
The Upper Room Discourse (John 13 17) marked the end of Jesus three year ministry and served to be
Jesus farewell address to the beloved apostles. During Jesus final moments with the apostles, Jesus
would proceed to institute a new blood covenant (Luke 22:20; Mark 14:24) and provide final
instructions and encouragement to the apostles before facing the sorrow, rejection, betrayal, and death
for which Jesus had come into this world (Houdmann, n.d.). Thus, the final moments between Jesus
and the apostles revealed countless theological truths that were demonstrated through word, deed,
admonishment, and prophecy (Douglas Tenney, 2010).
Before revealing those truths, Jesus would have to settle a dispute (Luke 22:24) amongst the apostles

Jesus departure also created anxiety and questions amongst the apostles (Pentecost, 1981). Thus, in the
narrative of John 13:36 14:31, Jesus lovingly admonishes the apostles with the command of Let not
your heart be troubled (Wiersbe, 2007). As a consequence of this command, Jesus promised the
apostles a place in heaven along with Christ s return (John 14:3), assurance that Christ was the way to
the Father (John 14:6), and a permanent, indwelling presence of the Holy Spirit (John 14:16; Acts
13:52) who would be the apostle s teacher (Luke 12:12) in Jesus absence (Gromacki, 1978). Most
profound is the fact that with Jesus ascension into heaven, the apostles would benefit in Jesus absence
(John 14:9) with greater spiritual power (Pentecost, 1981). Additionally, Jesus also revealed the divine
essence of the Godhead (John 14:9) while further defining the true essence of Christianity, Ye in me, I
in you (Gromacki, 1978).
As Jesus continued instructing the apostles in John 15:1 16:4, attention was turned to the apostle s
present condition and how the great commission could be fulfilled (Pentecost, 1981). In the metaphor
of the vine and branches (John 15:5), Christ

to SAVE YOUR LIFE at the most keep you from arrest or fines at the least, embarrassment. I have
been asked by the Chairperson of F FOOK K to speak to you today because there just may be no one
more qualified to address the topic of Foreign Faux Pas than moi . FAUX PAS is French. Spelled as if
it should be pronounced FOX PASS, but it IS NOT! The X and the S are, SILENT. And that, friends,
should be the first faux pas you step around. According to Vocabulary.com Dictionary, Faux pas
literally means false step; social blunder. Do not take a false step into a big pile of . . . embarrassing or
offensive unlawful, social crap. Why me, you ask? Unfortunately, I have seen the inside of more
foreign police stations, consulates and embassies than most heads of state; probably more than most
talking heads, radioheads, OR Deadheads, and CERTAINLY more than any heads of class. My first
faux arrest was at the tender age of 6 while my father was US Ambassador to Singapore; I simply
forgot to flush the toilet in a public restroom. Who knew?!? My parents were lucky to only pay a small
fine under the table, to get me released from mall security that time. When I

Labour Turnover
PROBLEM AND ITS BACKGROUND
INTRODUCTION
The way trade and commerce is conducted nowadays has evolved. Everything involving the
operations of the organisation demands a more expeditious means of addressing issues and changes in
the external environment. Though this apparently would drive weak companies into the verge of
exiting the market, the good ones find a way for this intense demand for constant improvement to their
advantage. There are some who find a way to make these incessant demands for change trigger the
developmental needs of the company. This is especially true in the case of the hospitality industry. In
this industry, the focus is more on the service rendered to the public; hence there is a distinct
possibility for it to be ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
· What is the relationship of labour turnover and the implementation of human resource management
practices of Shangri La?
Plan for the Study

turnover in Shangri la Hotels. To be more specific, the analysis of the practice of human resource
management initiatives of the respondent company shall be made to determine whether or not it has a

The dissertation shall be divided into several chapters. This will ensure that the discussions are clear
and consistent with the distinct areas covered by each chapter. For the purposes of this dissertation, the
discussions shall be divided into five Chapters. This first chapter basically forms part of the

why and how this general problem needs to be addressed shall be indicated in this chapter. Hence, the
first chapter shall build

Chris Krakauer s Non Fiction Book Into The Wild
Imagine this: a young adult vanishes without a trace to venture off into the wild and discover himself.
With the bearings of a modern day bildungsroman, such a story may not seem uncommon; after all,
young adult novels and films have both glorified and censured the youthful adventure tale,
perpetuating an image of adolescents (particularly young males) as courageous yet foolhardy
individuals who adamantly desire self discovery. Such depictions may not be far from reality, as
demonstrated by the story of Chris McCandless in Jon Krakauer s non fiction book Into the Wild.
Krakauer presents a relatively objective account of 24 year old McCandless s brief sojourn in the
Alaskan wilderness and the events leading to his death, offering opinions from individuals who
criticized the young man s arrogance and foolhardiness as well as those who extolled McCandless as a
noble, brave hero. To establish an extreme and unyielding stance on Chris McCandless viewing him as
either a righteous idealist or an inexperienced dunderhead would disregard McCandless s nuanced
personality and his sensitive familial circumstances. When one takes into account McCandless s
estrangement from his family and his worship of author Jack London s The Call of the Wild, it
becomes clear that while McCandless was an ignorant and overconfident hypocrite who was unable to
survive in the wild, he genuinely adhered to his beliefs and was not wholly responsible for his own
death. McCandless s unusual family

Effects Of Legalizing Marijuana In Canada
Marijuana
Killing Drug
Since long time, there has been controversies over the legalization of marijuana. The government is
unclear about its effects on society and on individual. As of today, marijuana is illegal in Canada. The
government is just now looking at its effects. Marijuana should be legalized in Canada because
marijuana is essentially medically beneficial, can also lower the crime rate in Canada and give benefit
to the economy by diminishing the Black Market and providing the government with tax money.
There are at least two active chemicals in marijuana that researchers think have medicinal applications
tetrahydrocannabinol which impacts the brain and cannabinol is a pain relieving drug. The marijuana
can help in getting many

  • 2. Acceptance of Death in Yeats’s ‘An Irish Airman Foresees... W. B. Yeats s poem An Irish Airman Foresees his Death and Shakespeare s poem Come Away, Come Away, Death both deal with the theme of impending death, although by varying causes. While the poems employ similar figurative and sonic elements of language, their tone and style vary. Yeats s poem is primarily a war poem that serves as an elegy for the Irish pilot Major Robert Gregory who died in WWI. As opposed to this Shakespeare s poem is a lamenting love song sung by the character of Feste in Twelfth Night. Despite being different in setting, they both express an acceptance of death. While both poems convey an awareness of death approaching, the causes of death are different. Shakespeare s poem being a lament about unrequited love, ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... This regular rhythm, reminiscent of the rhythm of a funeral march, creates a somber atmosphere that amplifies the tone of the poems, the coming to peace with death. The regularity of the rhythm is further intensified by the use of poetic devices such as alliteration, caesura and repetition. In Yeats s poem the regularity of rhythm is augmented by the same length of lines with a tetrameter that follows throughout the poem, providing not only and audible uniformity, but also a visual one. This uniformity is reminiscent of the uniformity one associates with the army. Yeats uses alliteration of c and t in the line My country is Kiltartan Cross (5). While adding to the consistency to the poem s rhythmic beat, this also emphasizes the content, i.e. the airman didn t fight for any country or cause, but rather for his village of Kiltartan Cross. In contrast to Yeats s poem, Shakespeare s Come Away, Come Away, Death is neither visually nor audibly uniform. The poem s line lengths vary and alternate with long and short lines. This affects the poem both visually and audibly, reflecting it s song like quality. The fact that the poem is closer to a song is linked to its theme. A lament on death due to love would more appropriately be expressed through song. This strong emotion is expressed through the use of hyperbole such as a thousand thousand sighs to save (13), this repetition of thousand , conveys that that the ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 3. Gevonese Crime Family Counterculture Essay A counterculture is a subculture that rejects the major values of the larger society and replaces them with a new set of cultural patterns (Thomas). The Gevonese crime family is one of the countercultures in America. The reason why the Gevonese family is a counterculture is because of their acts of crime and their code of Omertá a rule that forbids speaking or providing knowledge about specific activities, even the activities of a criminal group (Farlex). Their actions and code of Omertá is unacceptable to Americans because most of Americans believe in an honest living and are taught that cooperating with law enforcement is the right thing to do. The Gevonese crime family is one of the strongest organized crime families in the country and is one of the Five Families of New York. In the 1930 s, the family was established after Charles Lucky Luciano but was reestablished after Vito Gevonese took control in 1957. The family is unique in the fact that they have had just five members testify against them as witnesses for the state in their history. Their regard for Omertá has protected them from prosecution and helped to maintain their influence in New York and nearby areas. The new deal was intended to provide much needed relief, recovery, and reform to the American people, by seeking to stabilize the economy and provide jobs to those who were suffering. It forced a change in the structure of American government and pushed it to play a bigger role in the financing of social programs. This new reform changed how government functioned at the state and federal levels and introduced new ideas of centralization, management, planning, efficiency measurement, and new forms of social programs. It was during this time, that management in the U.S., was recognized as its own discipline and introduced the political approach to public administration. Some may say he revolutionized music composition and changed music history of the 20th century, yet others do not even acknowledge his compositional contributions as music. I believe John Cage was a brilliant artist, and his works push the boundaries of both sound and music to create a genre of his own by using the elements of silence and chance. Through his compositional development, one can track his changing music philosophy as it grew from a limited notion of silence, to the enjoyment of the element of chance, to a redefined meaning of silence that reaches beyond the grasp of most innovators still today. In a recording of Cage s piece Seven2 one can hear a landscape created through sporadic sound. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The Juilliard Journal referred to John Cage s compositional experimentation as transforming a familiar instrument into something enticingly alien. Cage began experimenting with instruments early in his musical career by first altering pianos with metal plates and screws before playing them. In the 1960 s Cage began a new movement appropriately titled found Sound. ( John Cage: About the Composer ). He used unconventional instruments such as handheld radios, water, and sea shells. He was pushing the boundaries of music by claiming that sound is a form of music. The randomness of it added an element of chance to these experiments, some recordings could never be duplicated. What makes the music of John Cage easily recognizable is it s unpredictability. The two well known pieces employing chance operations are Imaginary Landscape No 4″ and Water Music. While I personally find these pieces hard to listen to, Cage s philosophy regarding the role of chance within music is an important development in the world of music history, for it led to him furthering the definition of music. There is a picture of me in my childhood photo album, where I am sitting in a wagon surrounded by books. I am wearing red plaid overalls and a bright green shirt, my hair is in pigtails and I am fixated on the book which rests on my lap. Although I do not remember this moment, I can tell you exactly what I was doing: I was examining the pictures of the book and making my own story. I was pointing to each individual word on the page and saying what I thought it was based on the story I created. This was my favorite way to pass time at this age, staring at pictures and pretending that I could read as if I were an adult. Whether it be comparing death to baseball pitch, warning his son to not strikeout, or complaining about being stuck on first base, Troy uses baseball to explain life to those around him. Ironically, it is baseball that actually leads to Troy s psychic castration. Although Troy was older when he was released from prison and playing in the Negro leagues, racism held younger players from competing with white Americans and there is no doubt that Troy saw this as what held him back as well. The idea of not striking out, and the fetish of the home run is meant to represent the black community s resistance against society s racism during this time. There are superstitious people all around the world, with different religions, beliefs, cultures and traditions (Akova, 2011). Superstitions can serve to give either good or bad luck, some examples can be: crossing fingers, four leaf clovers, knocking on wood, breaking a mirror, seeing a black cat, opening an umbrella inside the house, or even a set of steps self made before an event (Akova, 2011). Religiosity and superstition In many studies, it has been found that religiosity correlates with the occurrence of superstitious behaviours and paranormal beliefs. Apparently, a higher degree of religiosity correlates with a higher frequency of reporting beliefs in paranormal experiences or the supernatural (Stanke Taylor, 2004). There is a motivational statement on the bottom, of which the final wording reads by the strength of the leader the power of the pack is unleashed . This concept of the power of the leader is universal in every business, to include nonprofits. But how is a Chief Executive Officer (CEO) or Executive Director (ED) to lead in financial matters when they do not possess a strong financial background? Within the following paragraphs we will look briefly at ways to ensure the CEO or ED are strong financial leaders and steps to utilize in executing this financial leadership. Ensuring Strong Financial Leadership There are some that will say that true leaders surround themselves with great people. Although that may be true, when it comes to the financial health of the organization, simply having a trusted Chief Financial Officer (CFO), financial team, or financial consultant is not enough. A senior executive without an understanding of finance cannot make use of such information or make financial decisions to lead the organization well (Crawford, 2010). So what is an organization to do? The easiest, most effective method is simply to recruit a leader that already has a background in finances. This followed would lead to a worldwide adoption of IFRS over the next few years. In his work, Barry (2009, p.26 27) states, The advantage of a single set of financial reporting standards are manifest, particularly as internationalization of business activities became the norm. In particular, having uniform, high quality standards has been extolled as fostering international business relationships, with the goal being the facilitation of cross border capital flows and lowering the cost of capital _ the expected results of the anticipated reduction of perceived accounting risk . It has been argued that uniform financial reporting standards will result in lowered cost of capital, where investors will be willing to accept lower returns interest from their investment in corporate securities. This will be achieved when the riskiness of their investment is reduced to the acceptable level. To improve an investors confidence, the SEC provides domestic registration of foreign entities and reconciliation to U.S. GAAP from respective national GAAP. Some say that it would help improve life, and would help bring balance to the world. However, I believe that population control would not truly help anyone. World population control is not the answer to world problems, for it would take away human life, the right to have kids, and in the long run would not help any living thing. The idea of population control started out many years ago. The person who first started Planned Parenthood wanted to control the population of African Americans because she wanted less of them around (National Public Radio). She tried to persuade more African Americans to come to Planned Parenthood than people of other races. In addition, there was forced population control during the Holocaust, a time in World War II, when Nazi Germany tried to exterminate all Jews and others the Germans did not like (National Public Radio). During Jesus final moments with the apostles, Jesus would proceed to institute a new blood covenant (Luke 22:20; Mark 14:24) and provide final instructions and encouragement to the apostles before facing the sorrow, rejection, betrayal, and death for which Jesus had come into this world (Houdmann, n.d.). Thus, the final moments between Jesus and the apostles revealed countless theological truths that were demonstrated through word, deed, admonishment, and prophecy (Douglas Tenney, 2010). Jesus departure also created anxiety and questions amongst the apostles (Pentecost, 1981). Thus, in the narrative of John 13:36 14:31, Jesus lovingly admonishes the apostles with the command of Let not your heart be troubled (Wiersbe, 2007). As a consequence of this command, Jesus promised the apostles a place in heaven along with Christ s return (John 14:3), assurance that Christ was the way to the Father (John 14:6), and a permanent, indwelling presence of the Holy Spirit (John 14:16; Acts 13:52) who would be the apostle s teacher (Luke 12:12) in Jesus absence (Gromacki, 1978). Most profound is the fact that with Jesus ascension into heaven, the apostles would benefit in Jesus absence (John 14:9) with greater spiritual power (Pentecost, 1981). Additionally, Jesus also revealed the divine essence of the Godhead (John 14:9) while further defining the true essence of Christianity, Ye in me, I in you (Gromacki, 1978). As Jesus continued instructing the apostles in John 15:1 16:4, attention was turned to the apostle s present condition and how the great commission could be fulfilled (Pentecost, 1981). With the bearings of a modern day bildungsroman, such a story may not seem uncommon; after all, young adult novels and films have both glorified and censured the youthful adventure tale, perpetuating an image of adolescents (particularly young males) as courageous yet foolhardy individuals who adamantly desire self discovery. Such depictions may not be far from reality, as demonstrated by the story of Chris McCandless in Jon Krakauer s non fiction book Into the Wild. Krakauer presents a relatively objective account of 24 year old McCandless s brief sojourn in the Alaskan wilderness and the events leading to his death, offering opinions from individuals who criticized the young man s arrogance and foolhardiness as well as those who extolled McCandless as a noble, brave hero. To establish an extreme and unyielding stance on Chris McCandless viewing him as either a righteous idealist or an inexperienced dunderhead would disregard McCandless s nuanced personality and his sensitive familial circumstances. When one takes into account McCandless s estrangement from his family and his worship of author Jack London s The Call of the Wild, it becomes clear that while McCandless was an ignorant and overconfident hypocrite who was unable to survive in the wild, he genuinely adhered to his beliefs and was not wholly responsible for his own death.
