The Medicine Wheel
In Native American Spirituality, the medicine wheel represents harmony and connections and is
considered a major symbol of peaceful interactions among all living beings on earth ( Medicine Wheel
, 2013, p. 1). The medicine wheel has been used for many generations of various American native
tribes and are still used today in the Native American spirituality. In an interview with an aboriginal
woman B.C, B.C stated the wheel has been passed down from generation from generation and the
meaning of the wheel has never been altered and it s very symbolic to the first nation s people. The
following is a picture of the medicine wheel;

The wheel suggests that each aspect of the wheel must be equally developed in a healthy way and
balance in each area puts us into balance. If there is part of the wheel not in balance it may greatly
effect health decisions (uOttawa, 2009) First Nations people agree that emphasis needs to be given in
each area of the wheel.
The medicine wheel symbolizes the interconnection of all life, the various cycles of nature, and how
life represents a circular journey. The number four is sacred to the many Aboriginal peoples of North
America and can represent many things: the four seasons, the four parts of a person (physical, mental,
emotional and spiritual); the four kingdoms (animal, mineral, plant and human); the four sacred
medicines (sweet grass, tobacco, cedar and sage). Hence, you may see the medicine wheel presented
in several different ways (uOttawa, 2009, p. 1)
Different tribes examine the medicine wheel differently (Terpning, 2011). They continue to use the
wheel as a first nation symbol. The wheel continues to be sacred to them for various reasons,
including teachings, health and healing, many traditional ceremonies, dances and ritual vision quest
(Sutherland, 2013). It is important to First Nations People to continue to use this Medicine wheel and
it is important to remember that if the focus is on one area of the medicine

Refugee Rates In The United States
In today s society where most of us are sheltered physically and emotionally, have we ever stopped to
think about the unfortunate ones who have been forced to live their lives differently? We are often
carried away with basking in our riches that we forget to take a moment to think for those who aren t
as lucky as us. What else can we call those who have nowhere to go and nothing to do no place to call
home, no job to call an occupation, no purpose to speak of? With more people being forced out of
their homelands to seek greener grass on the other side, refugee rates are on a constant rise.
According to United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees (UNHCR), refugee figures stands at
13 million as of mid 2014. United Nations Relief and Works

Measure The Effectiveness Of Naps
A nap is a short period of sleep, typically taken between the hours of 9am and 9pm as an adjunct to the
usual nocturnal sleep period. Naps are most often taken as a response to drowsiness during waking
hours. A nap is a form of biphasic or polyphasic sleep, where the latter terms also include longer
periods of sleep in addition to one single period. Cultural attitudes toward napping during the work
day vary. In many Western cultures, children and the elderly are expected to nap during the day and
are provided with designated periods and locations to do so. In these same cultures, most working
adults are not expected to sleep during the day and napping on the job is widely considered
unacceptable. Other cultures serve their largest meals at ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Negative effects For those suffering from insomnia or depression, naps may aggravate already
disrupted sleep wake patterns. Power nap A power nap, also known as a Stage 2 nap, is a short
slumber of 20 minutes or less which terminates before the occurrence of deep slow wave sleep,
intended to quickly revitalize the napper. The expression power nap was coined by Cornell University
social psychologist James Maas. The 20 minute nap increases alertness and motor skills. People who
regularly take these short naps, or catnaps as they used to be called, may develop a good idea of the
duration which works best for them, as well as which tools, environment, position, and associated
factors help produce the best results. Power naps are effective even when schedules allow a full night s
sleep. Mitsuo Hayashi and Tadao Hori have demonstrated that a nap improves mental performance,
even after a full night s sleep. Stimulant or caffeine

How Technology Is What Propels Our Innovative Society Forward
Moving with the Changes How did this paper fall into your hand? Speaking on a literal level, a lot of
work happened for this paper to come into a material item that is now something anybody can read.
First, an inventor thought up and created this paper. Which was then typed on a computer which itself
went through years of development, blueprinting, designing, and many other complicated processes.
After hours of revision this paper was printed on a printer that was also developed and designed to do
its job efficiently. Things do not pop out of thin air, they take development which can sometimes
involve a long, tedious process. Just like the development of this essay did not happen overnight nor
come easy, technology does not either. Though chaotic, the development and progress of technology is
what propels our innovative society forward. When new technology is first introduced an array of
opinions from all perspectives come spewing out. Right now this is being experienced with the release
of the new iPhone 7. Apple has been noted in the past for getting rid of specs to gadgets that aren t
necessary to make way for new and improved technology. Laptops have evolved on lacking the CD
disk slot to make way for slimmer, less bulky laptops and more room for better technology inside the
hardware. This time around, Apple is dropping the headphone jack in efforts to move towards a new,
wireless era. As product of this, Apple has also created new, wireless Air Buds which are

Strengths And Weaknesses Of Smartcard Frameworks
Disservices and Risks
A smartcard framework additionally has weaknesses as far as money related and work force assets.
The framework in all likelihood requires a critical capital responsibility and yearly working expenses
may increment. Travel offices not just battle with diverting capital from other vital activities, but on
the other hand are tested by supporting complex backend frameworks with extraordinarily talented
data innovation faculty and by giving the offices and extra faculty for extending client benefits and
related help.
There are likewise chances related with a smartcard passage accumulation framework. The essential
dangers incorporate those related with saving and securing budgetary and client information.
Smartcard frameworks process, gather and store extremely touchy information, for example,
approving and handling credit/charge deals, gathering passage installment exchanges and putting away
client individual data. There are many dangers intrinsic with overseeing charge installment preparing
and related information frameworks including dangers of both inside and outside robbery, the
wrongful and unlawful utilization of this information and the risk and advertising worries of not
sufficiently sheltered guarding the arrival of client data.
While many travel organizations have tended to these issues satisfactorily, the dangers are ever present
in a framework like this and require assets.

Class Voting In Capitalist Democracies
After reading through the journal article Class voting in capitalist democracies since World War II:

the affluent class would usually conjoin with those in the republic party, while those amongst the
lower or middle class would define themselves as democrats. Regardless of this belief, Manza, Hout,

and equal opportunity throughout the minority class. As a result, the left wing party speaks in favor of

Against Periodontal Disease
How to Fight Against Gum Disease
Periodontitis is a condition that is usually caused by plaque build up. It is pretty common in that it
affects most people at some point in their life. Symptoms may include loose teeth, oral sensitivity,
persistent bad breath, and swollen gums. If left untreated, this ailment could advance into a serious
infection that causes the breakdown of connective tissue and bone, which ultimately leads to tooth
loss.
Even more worrying is the possibility of the pathogenic bacteria finding its way into your bloodstream
and infecting other parts of your body. This makes it important to combat periodontal disease as early
as possible.

You can start with rinsing with a homemade saline solution made of half a teaspoon of salt and a glass
of lukewarm water. A popular Ayurvedic practice also worth trying is swishing coconut or sesame oil
for 15 to 20 minutes. You may make a paste of baking soda with water which you apply to your gums
two to three times a week too. Better yet, just rub aloe vera on the affected areas.
Contact the experts
For more advanced forms of periodontal disease, your dentist may suggest one of several types of
surgical procedures to fully eradicate inflammation and abscesses. Your options include grafts where
lost bone is replaced with man made materials or where exposed roots get covered; regeneration
where lost tissue is encouraged to regrow using stimulating proteins and other materials; and flap
surgery where gums are lifted away, tartar is removed, and gums are then sutured back.
Prevention and treatment is most effective when you swiftly take action. Thus, if you ve noticed any
of the symptoms of periodontitis, you should apply the steps suggested above as soon as possible. Do

Analysis Of Documentary Storytelling By Sheila Curran Bernard
The novel Documentary Storytelling by Sheila Curran Bernard delves deep into the behind the scenes
of the development of documentary. She writes powerfully and informatively on the structure of
documentary and how time on screen can be used. In the chapter entitled Planning and Pitching,
Bernard discusses the importance of selecting a cast of experts with a wide range of viewpoints
(Bernard 148). I agree with Bernard that having a diverse range of opinions may add credibility to the
film, but I must argue that having too large an amount will undermine the direction of the film. While
having a wide range of viewpoints may balance the film, those viewpoints may contradict each other
and make the concept of the film difficult to understand. Bernard s

Pros And Cons Of The Two Party System
Left Wing, Right Wing, Broken Wing
Have you ever considered the American government is corrupt, even though they claim to uphold
certain American values? The two party system is just that: corrupt. Right now, the government offers
two parties, and even though it has its benefits, it has a lot more weaknesses. Although the two party
system offers stability and accessibility for citizens, it is broken and needs to be drastically changed
for the government to be actually of the people, by the people, for the people. The two party system
was born after the American revolution, when our representatives for each colony chose sides between
federalists and antifederalists. This later became what we know today as the Democratic party and the

The two party system needs to be changed or completely abolished, because it offers limited ideas and
opinions to run the country. The two parties have their own perspectives on issues such as gun control
or abortion; Craig Goodman of the University of Houston claims he doesn t think it s very democratic.
Why should you exclude someone because they are a small number, and they don t get to express
themselves? (Cargo 1). The two party does not allow the middle ground or smaller parties to really
have a say (Mathias 4). Most voters only know the leading independent and the two party nominees.
Kate Cargo describes the two party system leaves voter with low quality ideas and frankly, low quality
candidates (Cargo 1) while the third party candidate could have a great compromise on a hot issue, it
will never see the light of day. While the two party system does allow people to have easy access to
the opinions of the parties on these issues, it does not make up for the limited options we have. As a
country we need to have as many options as possible even if they are extreme. Accessibility is
important, but it should never limit our options.
Along with giving us limited opinions and ideas, the two party system often offers a repeat of
candidates. Hillary Clinton has ran for the office of president

Women s Influence On The Field Of Psychology
Throughout the early days of psychology, opportunities for women where limited and it was an
extremely difficult time for women to become apparent in the field of psychology. Women struggled
for equality in the field of psychology and this began with our pioneers, Mary Whiton Calkins, who
sat her PhD but was never awarded it, Margaret Washburn, being the first women to be awarded a
PhD and Christine Ladd Franklin.
Since these women made their breakthrough there has been more and more women contributing their
knowledge to many areas in psychology such as, Anna Freud, who became influenced by her father s
theories and created her own theories in psychoanalysis. Karen Horney who contributed a substantial
amount to the personality theory and later became interested in feminine psychology, Melanie Klein
and Mary Ainsworth, just to name a few.
These women faced several societal constraints and long held beliefs about the role of women in their
era. At that time the societal belief was that women where intellectually inferior to men and
responding to this judgement, male psychologists attempted to develop theories about what could
happen to women if they did try to enter higher education.
This paper will outline the contribution to the field of psychology that has been made by a female
psychologist. This paper will focus on the contributions made by Mary D. Salter Ainsworth within her
field of Developmental psychology and her contributions to other theories within the same subject

Income Inequality Research Paper
Economic inequality refers to how economic metrics are distributed among individuals in a group,
among groups in a population, or among countries. Economists generally think of three metrics of
economic disparity: wealth, income, and consumption.
Some studies have emphasized inequality as a growing social problem. Too much inequality can be
destructive, because income inequality and wealth concentration can hinder long term growth. Early
statistical studies comparing inequality to economic growth had been inconclusive, There are various
numerical indices for measuring economic inequality. A widely used one is the Gini coefficient, but
there are also many other methods.

The UNCW theatre department s production of Mad Forest had many great actors and actresses

How Does African Feather Grass Affect Our Environment
Introduction
African Feather grass (Pennisetum Macrourum / Cenchrus Macrourus) is common in the western Bay

fertile and a very invasive pest. It isn t common in the central plateau of the North Island, but it still
can still be spotted. It invades native farmland which changes most habitats and spreads easily. This
report will look at the questions that identifies this pest s information that could help mitigate the
effects of African Feather grass to stop their damage to our environment.

The plant is then eaten by herbivores and omnivores such as hedgehogs, rabbits and sometimes mice,
which in turn, are then eaten by native Moreporks and feral cats and dogs. Then it finishes off with
humans. There are also some extra animals that are on the following diagram.
Question 2: What negative and positive effects do this pest have on our environment?
As a fast seed producer, it ruins native animal s habitats and also invades plant communities;
therefore, the plant species have a negative impact on the environment. Also has the cause of building
up sand and changes the habitats, and eventually grows on rocks. Because of African Feather grass,
there has been a loss dune lakes, wetlands and has a major impact on agriculture. On the plus side, it is
also a fire hazard to rats and mice, which I think is also another way to get rid of rats and mice.
Overall, this pest mostly has a negative impact on the environment.
Question 3: What can I do to get rid of this plant?
Don t attempt to control it when a mature seed is present as this makes the bigger chance of the risk of
the seeds being spread by clothing, animals and so

and the mother decide of conceive another child and regardless of its gender it will be a boy no matter.
After that the child it turns out to be a female, she grows up with the privileges that a man would
normally have. This is the secret that is kept hidden because she is secretly born a female. In the story
The Sand Child by Tahar Ben Jelloun it contains crucial components that influence the faith of Ahmed
life. This is established by the gender inequality in moroccan culture such as self identity, inheritance
law, and patriarchy dictate Ahmed life throughout the novel.
Self identity is very important in the story one of the reasons is because Ahmed was born a female but
raised and treated as male. For example The child you shall bring into the world will be male, it will
be a man, it will be named Ahmed even if it is a girl (jelloun13) this demonstrates how girls are
unappreciated and how they are tread and seem by their culture. They believe that men are better than
women, throughout the story ahmed experiences both sides of each gender and gets treated better

Ancient Chinese Diet
What They Ate
In Ancient China, the people ate healthy. The Chinese ate a lot of vegetables but the variety was small.
The vegetable range consisted of Cucumbers and Soybeans, and apparently, it s been dated that they
ve been eating that since 1000 BC. The Soybean was an important grain for the Chinese. At one point
in Chinese Food History, Wine was more popular than tea, the first wine that was introduced to them
was Yellow Rice Wine, also known as Huangjiu. Huangjiu is a rice wine made from water and cereal
grains like rice, millet, sorghum and wheat. This type of alcohol contained less than 20% of actual
alcohol, and it was aged for as long as 20 years. (Wikipedia, n.d.) Chinese people also ate all kinds of
meats from different animals, however, not all could afford it so they replaced it with tofu as a cheaper
source of protein. Tofu is bean curd, it is rich in nutrients like calcium, iron, high protein and has little
fat. It replaced meat for the poor Chinese since they didn t eat meat regularly, only on special
occasions. They made a law that would give every Chinese person a free cup of tofu every week, I did

The Economics of the French and American Revolution Essay
The American and French Revolutions were profoundly motivated by economics. Prior to the
Revolution, British colonies in America were thriving. Colonists paid fairly few taxes and were
permitted to participate in domestic economic activity, granted they adhere to the Navigation Act, an
act requiring, that all trade within the empire be conducted on ships which were constructed, owned
and largely manned by British citizens. Certain enumerated goods whether exported or imported by
the colonies had to be shipped through England regardless of the final port of destination. (Baack) Its
mother country however, was not analogous. England s debt had nearly doubled due to their victory
over France during the 7 Year War and was frantically ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Citizens were not permitted to vote as individuals. Instead one vote was given to each of the three
estates, the clergy (first), aristocrats (second), and everyone else excluded from the first two, who
were most commonly peasants and the working class (third) (Roberts et al. 646). Unsurprisingly, the
Third Estate was outvoted and citizens within became furious. They, ...insisted that those who worked
[for low wages] and pay taxes were the nation... (Roberts et al. 646) Shortly afterward, the National
Assembly was born and was determined to take France s future into its own (Belloc, 93). The
Revolutions became very different throughout the courses of each. Britain, no doubt was in a better
position to fund the war. Firstly, Britain was an established country with a tax system that had proven
to produce revenue. Secondly, it could afford to generate more debt to fund the war. America however,
was only beginning to set up a government of its own. Although they had a Congress in place, the
Articles of Confederation didn t allow it to tax colonists and without income, it was difficult for
Congress to borrow money or replace what they were spending on the war. Despite this, Congress did
not receive any voluntary payments from the states. In fact, each state began producing their own
currencies to make up for the lack of money; so many different forms of currency were competing
with the true currency, the continental dollar. Britain

Economic Globalization
Introduction
Economic globalization has become the most important feature and a general trend of present world
economic development. Globalization is a phenomenon and also a process of development of mankind
and human society (Hamilton, 2008). It is the essential feature of the modern age. Globalization is the
cross border flows of capital and goods, including capital, labour, technology and natural resources
(Bożyk, Misala Puławski, 2002). Economic globalization is a historical process, and the germination
of it could date back to the 16th century. After the industrial revolution, capitalist commodity
economy, modern industry and transportation have been developing rapidly. The world market was

The negative impact on globalization can be clearly illustrated from the financial sphere. One collapse
in the financial sector would lead to the domino style economic collapse.
Global Stratification
Global stratification can be defined that globe countries and areas are not on an equal footing in the
process of economic, political and cultural globalization (Andersen Taylor, 2006). The economic
globalization has exacerbated the imbalance of world economy and has widened the wealth gap.
Globalization has brought unfair relationships between developing countries and developed countries.
Gao (2000) noted that economic globalization has expanded the gap between South and North. And it
has brought huge shocks to national economy of developing countries. The international economic
organizations like the Word Bank, IMF and WTO are in the hand of developed countries (El Ojeili, C.
Hayden, P., 2006.). All the principles, institutions and sequences for the world economic operation are
made by them. (Sklair, 2002)What s more, the economic, technical and management advantages that
is owned by Western countries cannot be easily and fully surpassed by developing countries.
It is fair to say that the ones who benefit the most in economic globalization are developed countries
whose social productive forces are highly developed ((El Ojeili, C. Hayden, P., 2006.). However, it is
difficult for developing countries that are relatively

Security Requirements and Possible Risks: Benefits Elections System Huffman Trucking, an
established trucking company since 1936, has recently requested the implementation of a new
Benefits Elections System to assist management in tracking and reporting the benefits of both union
and non union employees. A database system will be utilized to store critical data such as employee
information, along with the benefit package of their choosing. Storing such information requires
necessary security measures to be in place to ensure the total protection of the data within. The risks

The ability of an organization to renew passwords frequently is a significant step towards enhanced
data protection (Brown, 2010). To enhance the effectiveness of password renewal, system users should
not have the ability to use previous passwords when renewing the current ones. Implementing
password renewal on the Benefits Elections System will ensure security measures are continually
enforced, especially in the event that if an unauthorized user were to gain access to the system, the
password would only be good for a specific length of time before it will be changed.
Possible Risks Risk is a term that most people, as well as organizations, are familiar with. Risk can be
defined as the probability of any possible threat turning into a disaster, which is why significant
measures are often taken to reduce and/or eliminate such possibilities. By utilizing a SWOT analysis
(Strengths, Weaknesses, Opportunities, and Threats), Huffman Trucking can effectively determine the
vulnerabilities associated with implementing a Benefits Elections System, and develop action plans to
correct the vulnerabilities to prevent the risks from becoming reality. Several risks are often associated
with the implementation of a new system, however, the main risks that must be considered by
Huffman Trucking include: database corruption, human error, and hacking and other malicious
attacks. Database corruption is

Abstract
The technology in nineteenth century is referred to the practical arts used to create physical products
everything from wagon to steam engine. But in twentieth century the word was expanded to include
everything involved in satisfying human material wants. In this we can see the concepts and
significance of the technology, how the technology emerged, what is the internal process of
technology, and classification of technology. For this term project I would like to talk about the file

Out of many technologies I would like to choose File Sharing Technology which is a product of
engineering science to study the natural world. File sharing has been an element of centralized server
and multi client PC frameworks for a long time. With the appearance of the Internet, a document
exchange framework called the File Transfer Protocol (FTP) has turn out to be broadly utilized. FTP
can be utilized to get to (peruse and potentially keep in touch with) records shared among a specific
arrangement of clients with a watchword to get entrance to documents shared from a FTP server site.
Numerous FTP destinations offer open record sharing or possibly the capacity to view or duplicate
documents by downloading them, utilizing an open watchword (which happens to be mysterious ).
Most Web webpage designers use FTP to transfer new or changed Web documents to a Web server,
and for sure the World Wide Web itself can be considered as extensive scale record partaking in which
asked for pages or records are continually being downloaded or replicated down to the Web client.
However, file sharing implies a system in which client keep in touch with and in additional read files
or in which clients are dispensed some measures of space for individual records on a typical server,
offering access to different client as they see fit. The recent sort of record sharing is basic in schools
and colleges. File sharing can be

The Choice of Medea
The Choice of Media Medea and her lack of control The story of Medea is a story of heartache, loss
and death. A reader may portray Medea as a strong woman and then again portrayed as a crazy
murderer. The question that arises often in conversation of this play is the question of Medea s choice
and lack of control. The play of Medea is delivered with obsessions and the love for Jason then
turning to death, revenge and dishonor. The answer is very clear that Medea is a woman in total
control of the actions done, and is willing to kill family and children for vengeance and satisfaction of
a pay back. Medea s root of anger and choices come from the love inside for Jason who causes the
ultimate betrayal. Medea was truly in love with ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The Nurse s words and the Chorus s words were brushed aside as Medea s actions continued. Medea
was given a choice just as any young women or man is given a choice at the time of heartache,
betrayal or humility. The choice for anyone is to choose to show strength in walking away or fold to
the feelings of vengeance and revenge. Medea made a clear minded choice to follow the hurt and the
want of revenge to justify what happened to the life she once knew. Medea made the choice to poison
the new wife and the children. The actions were thought of and acted upon and only a woman strong,
clear minded and out for pure revenge could ever do these things. Medea spoke clearly of each detail
as the dirty dead was set up No let me have my way. They say the Gods themselves are moved by
gifts, and gold does more with men than words. ( Euripides 710) Jason falls for this begging and
convincing act of gifts by Medea. Medea pouting and reeling Jason in with kind words yet deceiving
results is the ultimate mind game. Jason could be considered a fool to fall for the gift of children,
clothes and a blessing from the heart that Medea offers. Jason doesn t believe that Medea could do the
unthinkable. Medea s words soft and convincing thought out and bold. Jason wanting nothing more
than to live a life filled with royalty, love and the women and children blessed after this day. Medea

Hummingbirds Research Paper
Information About Hummingbirds. Yes, it is the annual battle of the hummingbirds here in north
Texas. Late August through September brings swarms of migrating hummingbirds to the feeders, each
hummingbird claiming a feeder of its own for few days before moving on down south. This time of
year, my yard becomes a war zone between hummingbirds as well as against yellow jackets and bees!
Hummingbirds are very territorial and will jealously guard their feeder from all other hummers who
want a sip of the sweet nectar. Although my many feeders are spread quite a bit apart so more
hummingbirds can feed in peace, there appears to be a Ruby throated female that is determined to
defend three feeders. As she squeaks and zips over to a feeder that another hummingbird dared to
approach, other hummingbirds converge on the feeder she just left, sneaking some nectar while she is
away. She will viciously fly straight for the intruder, sometimes even flying right into them, chasing
him away. She ll perch on top of pole from which the feeder hangs, looking around as if to say, See? I
got him and I ll get you if you try anything stupid like trying to get some of my nectar. From dawn to
dusk, she ll bully the other hummers. Clearly, this lil lady is a hummer with an attitude! ... Show more

The Collection Of Artefacts And Material Culture And Design
VSAR 3017 Indigenous Art, Culture and Design Journal Lecture: August 15, 2014 The collection of
artefacts and material culture of Aboriginal people have not always been understood and referred to as
art. In a way, museums and avid institutions in the nineteenth century have been seen as institutions of
control, ordering and organising knowledge about people and put them inside a particular framework
in order for them to be understood. Images and tools and practices have become important resources
for Aboriginal people to learn about family history, archives that hold links between artists and their
connections to family and form. Christian Thompson, a sound artist and photographer, is exemplary of
this. In 2011, the Australian Research Council funded a project to research and return historical
photographs from four major European collections to indigenous communities in Australia. Christian
Thompson, We Bury Our Own, a photographic series inspired by the Australian photograph collection
at the Pitt Rivers Museum, University of Oxford. Thompson states that he meditated on the archives
content, which ultimately permeated his work and provided him with clarity on the subject. Spiritual
repatriation is a term underpinned by Thompson to describe how the exhibition space was refiguring
relationships between the archive visitors, and the ancestors who reside in the images themselves.

Juvenile Offenders And The United Nations Convention On...
1.0 Introduction With the escalating seriousness and devastation being caused by young criminals, the
Queensland Jurisdiction amended the Youth Justice Act 1992, on 11 February 2014, in an attempt to
control and reduce young people offending and achieve improved outcomes for young offenders and
their families. However, the reforms are argumentative with stakeholders believing that the
amendments breach the United Nations Convention on the Rights of the Child. This report will
evaluate Queensland s criminal justice system s ability to effectively balance the rights of juvenile
offenders with the society s need for order, as well as examine different stakeholder perspectives and
make justified recommendations about legal issues and their outcomes. 2.0 Legislation The Youth
Justice Act 1992 (QLD) contains laws for juveniles who commit offences, or are alleged to have
committed offences. Under the law a juvenile is a person who is not old enough, by statutory age of
criminal responsibility, to be held accountable for their criminal acts. In most Australian jurisdictions
the maximum age for treatment as a child for criminal offences is 17 years. However, Queensland is
the only Australian jurisdiction that deals with 17 year olds as adults in the criminal justice system.
The purpose of the Youth Justice Act 1992 (QLD) is to provide fair and balanced law to juvenile
offenders to effectively balance their rights with the society s need for order. The Act also provides

  • 2. The Medicine Wheel In Native American Spirituality, the medicine wheel represents harmony and connections and is considered a major symbol of peaceful interactions among all living beings on earth ( Medicine Wheel , 2013, p. 1). The medicine wheel has been used for many generations of various American native tribes and are still used today in the Native American spirituality. In an interview with an aboriginal woman B.C, B.C stated the wheel has been passed down from generation from generation and the meaning of the wheel has never been altered and it s very symbolic to the first nation s people. The following is a picture of the medicine wheel; The medicine wheel, otherwise known as sacred hope is a symbol of the indigenous North American culture ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The wheel suggests that each aspect of the wheel must be equally developed in a healthy way and balance in each area puts us into balance. If there is part of the wheel not in balance it may greatly effect health decisions (uOttawa, 2009) First Nations people agree that emphasis needs to be given in each area of the wheel. The medicine wheel symbolizes the interconnection of all life, the various cycles of nature, and how life represents a circular journey. The number four is sacred to the many Aboriginal peoples of North America and can represent many things: the four seasons, the four parts of a person (physical, mental, emotional and spiritual); the four kingdoms (animal, mineral, plant and human); the four sacred medicines (sweet grass, tobacco, cedar and sage). Hence, you may see the medicine wheel presented in several different ways (uOttawa, 2009, p. 1) Different tribes examine the medicine wheel differently (Terpning, 2011). They continue to use the wheel as a first nation symbol. The wheel continues to be sacred to them for various reasons, including teachings, health and healing, many traditional ceremonies, dances and ritual vision quest (Sutherland, 2013). It is important to First Nations People to continue to use this Medicine wheel and it is important to remember that if the focus is on one area of the medicine ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Refugee Rates In The United States In today s society where most of us are sheltered physically and emotionally, have we ever stopped to think about the unfortunate ones who have been forced to live their lives differently? We are often carried away with basking in our riches that we forget to take a moment to think for those who aren t as lucky as us. What else can we call those who have nowhere to go and nothing to do no place to call home, no job to call an occupation, no purpose to speak of? With more people being forced out of their homelands to seek greener grass on the other side, refugee rates are on a constant rise. Naps are most often taken as a response to drowsiness during waking hours. A nap is a form of biphasic or polyphasic sleep, where the latter terms also include longer periods of sleep in addition to one single period. Cultural attitudes toward napping during the work day vary. In many Western cultures, children and the elderly are expected to nap during the day and are provided with designated periods and locations to do so. • 5. How Technology Is What Propels Our Innovative Society Forward Moving with the Changes How did this paper fall into your hand? Speaking on a literal level, a lot of work happened for this paper to come into a material item that is now something anybody can read. First, an inventor thought up and created this paper. Which was then typed on a computer which itself went through years of development, blueprinting, designing, and many other complicated processes. After hours of revision this paper was printed on a printer that was also developed and designed to do its job efficiently. Things do not pop out of thin air, they take development which can sometimes involve a long, tedious process. Just like the development of this essay did not happen overnight nor come easy, technology does not either. Though chaotic, the development and progress of technology is what propels our innovative society forward. When new technology is first introduced an array of opinions from all perspectives come spewing out. Right now this is being experienced with the release of the new iPhone 7. Analysis Of Documentary Storytelling By Sheila Curran Bernard The novel Documentary Storytelling by Sheila Curran Bernard delves deep into the behind the scenes of the development of documentary. She writes powerfully and informatively on the structure of documentary and how time on screen can be used. In the chapter entitled Planning and Pitching, Bernard discusses the importance of selecting a cast of experts with a wide range of viewpoints (Bernard 148). I agree with Bernard that having a diverse range of opinions may add credibility to the film, but I must argue that having too large an amount will undermine the direction of the film. Women s Influence On The Field Of Psychology Throughout the early days of psychology, opportunities for women where limited and it was an extremely difficult time for women to become apparent in the field of psychology. Women struggled for equality in the field of psychology and this began with our pioneers, Mary Whiton Calkins, who sat her PhD but was never awarded it, Margaret Washburn, being the first women to be awarded a PhD and Christine Ladd Franklin. • 32. Hummingbirds Research Paper Information About Hummingbirds. Yes, it is the annual battle of the hummingbirds here in north Texas. Late August through September brings swarms of migrating hummingbirds to the feeders, each hummingbird claiming a feeder of its own for few days before moving on down south. This time of year, my yard becomes a war zone between hummingbirds as well as against yellow jackets and bees! Hummingbirds are very territorial and will jealously guard their feeder from all other hummers who want a sip of the sweet nectar. Although my many feeders are spread quite a bit apart so more hummingbirds can feed in peace, there appears to be a Ruby throated female that is determined to defend three feeders. As she squeaks and zips over to a feeder that another hummingbird dared to approach, other hummingbirds converge on the feeder she just left, sneaking some nectar while she is away. She will viciously fly straight for the intruder, sometimes even flying right into them, chasing him away. She ll perch on top of pole from which the feeder hangs, looking around as if to say, See? I got him and I ll get you if you try anything stupid like trying to get some of my nectar. From dawn to dusk, she ll bully the other hummers. Clearly, this lil lady is a hummer with an attitude! ... The Collection Of Artefacts And Material Culture And Design VSAR 3017 Indigenous Art, Culture and Design Journal Lecture: August 15, 2014 The collection of artefacts and material culture of Aboriginal people have not always been understood and referred to as art. In a way, museums and avid institutions in the nineteenth century have been seen as institutions of control, ordering and organising knowledge about people and put them inside a particular framework in order for them to be understood. Images and tools and practices have become important resources for Aboriginal people to learn about family history, archives that hold links between artists and their connections to family and form. Christian Thompson, a sound artist and photographer, is exemplary of this. In 2011, the Australian Research Council funded a project to research and return historical photographs from four major European collections to indigenous communities in Australia. Christian Thompson, We Bury Our Own, a photographic series inspired by the Australian photograph collection at the Pitt Rivers Museum, University of Oxford. Thompson states that he meditated on the archives content, which ultimately permeated his work and provided him with clarity on the subject.
