Violations Of HIPAA
HIPAA is the federal Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act of 1996. The primary goal
of the law is to make it easier for people to keep health insurance, protect the confidentiality and
security of healthcare information and help the healthcare industry control administrative costs. Under
HIPAA, patients have the right to access and control their health records. In order to safeguard
protected health information (PHI, or patients individually identifiable information), health care
providers must restrict access to the information and have patients permission to disclose it. Federal
and state governments enact HIPPA. HIPPA is a federal law and therefore the rules apply to all states.
The state government handles violations until the federal government needs to step in. Some things to
keep in mind when employed by places of health care are, always keep the patients information
confidential unless privacy release forms are signed. Never talk about a patient with another coworker
or someone outside of work. The only time it is ok to talk to another coworker is if that person is
directly involved in the patients health care plan, such as a nurse coming on duty, or a doctor ... Show

They know their health care will not be public information for anyone to see and if it is there will be
consequences. Violations of HIPPA are punishable by law on state and federal levels, depending on
the violation. An example is, if the individual did not know that he/she violated HIPAA, the
punishment can be a minimum of $100 per violation, with an annual maximum of $25,000 for repeat
violations. Maximum would be $50,000 per violation, with an annual maximum of $1.5 million. A
more severe violation such as a HIPAA violation is due to willful neglect and is not corrected,
minimum of $50,000 per violation, with an annual maximum of $1.5 million and a maximum of
$50,000 per violation, with an annual maximum of $1.5

1 John Gnosticism
7. The author of 1 John was concerned about the conditions within the group, which related to false
teachings of some Christians. Specifically, the physical humanity of Jesus, his Incarnation in the flesh
, and the necessity of showing love for fellow believers (Harris, 2014, p.437). The book of 1 John may
have been a response to protoGnostics, secessionists who were predecessors of the Gnosticism that
challenged other forms of Christianity from the second through the fifth centuries CE (Harris, 2014,
p.437). Specifically, Gnosticism concentrated on a two fold view of the cosmos, which represented the
belief that only the spirit was pure and good and that the physical world, the creation of a subordinate
god, was permanently dishonest.

Graffiti Is Bad
Graffiti: A force for evil
Graffiti refers to pictures or words inscribed on public property. It has been around for thousands of
years found in caves to modern buildings. However, several people argue whether modern graffiti is a
force representing good or evil. Graffiti is a negative method of portraying art due to the fact that it
negatively affects people within a community and the community itself, it consumes a lot of a cities
economy, and it is not necessary for it to be produced on public property.
Teenagers and young adults abuse graffiti which negatively impacts a community and the people
living within it, and here is how. According to the Los Angeles Police Department, young
adults...damage property for reasons of boredom, anger or revenge. Others vandalize to show defiance
toward rules, laws and authority or to draw attention to a cause . (6) In other words, teenagers are
wrongly influenced by graffiti and become rebellious towards the law and high authorities. In
addition, graffiti ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
However, it is not necessary for people to deface public property. There are alternative resources such
as canvases in which people may produce their art. According to Noel Sanchez, Artists tag both public
and private property, which becomes costly for taxpayers and business and property owners (Graffiti
as Vandalism). As seen here, paint is being sprayed on public and private property which negatively
affects the taxpayers. In addition, not even art institutions such as the Museum of Contemporary Art in
Los Angeles or the Museum of the City of New York find graffiti attractive on their property and
prohibit their premises to be vandalized (Graffiti is Always Vandalism). This proves that even art
museums would not consider graffiti attractive if their own property was covered in it, therefore
suggesting that graffiti ruins

Concert Review Papers
A Glimpse of snow and evergreen was a concert I will never forget. In my opinion, this concert was
the most high energy and energetic concert we have had (since my time here). The songs were all
surrounded by the theme of holiday spirit and it gave a warm and friendly tone that I believe the
audience felt too. We had a variety of songs, in cooperated dancing, and were able to have almost a
full house. This will be the concert we remember for the fun times and best choreography. It took a lot
of preparation to put this concert together. Acapella alone had 10 songs we were participating in. And,
many of the songs in this concert were in a different language. I still support the idea that we work
best as a big group as we isolate sections. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Somehow, no matter what we are facing we always seem to pull it together during the concert. I loved
the 2 soloists in 1 2 and how much courage they had to give it their all even though it was their first
time being in choir. Choir 3 4 always amazes me with their rich sound. They sound so sophisticated
and mature. It was also interesting to hear them perform another rendition of a song we had sang last
year. Also, the middle schoolers did wonderful with their carol of the bells. In terms of our set list, I
would say Gborn was our best piece. I heard the most feedback from the audience about how that song
was beautiful, angelic, and just rich overall. I think we could have worked on dynamics at times but it
is definitely a song that should be taken to tour. My personal favorite was Merry Christmas Mozart
because it showed the fun side of us and gave the audience some perspective. Plus, as I looked around
during that song I saw nothing but smiles. The most touching part of the performance was when the
alumni came on stage and sang Carol of the Bells with us. It brought back memories of them being
with us. It also signified how much of a family we are even after we go to

Hiv And How Is It Different From Hiv ( Human...
What exactly is AIDS and how is it different from HIV (Human Immunodeficiency Virus)? AIDS is a
severe form of HIV in which someone s immune system is completely destroyed; HIV is a virus that
affects the immune system. In other words, you can have HIV without AIDS, but if you have AIDS,
then you automatically have HIV. The origin of HIV is disputed between scientists; some have
theorized that it was passed down from apes and somehow transferred between humans. HIV attacks
the bloodstream and eliminates the body s CD4 cells, which essential for countering diseases and
infections. Without these cells, the human body is vulnerable to viruses and diseases. Once inside one
s body, the HIV virus first replicates and spreads itself using the CD4 cells; then the CD4 cells are
destroyed. Once the CD4 have been destroyed, a person s immune system has been greatly weakened
that even a simple cold or fever can nearly kill them. Due to this, the human body cannot counter
diseases and illnesses due to the destruction of the CD4 cells and the weakened state of the immune
system.
HIV and AIDS is spread and contracted by humans in a variety of ways. HIV/AIDS is spread when
bodily fluids, such as saliva, breast milk, and blood, are exchanged from human to human. These body
fluids are exchanged through human contact, blood transfers, or sharing medical equipment. Scientists
have discovered that HIV/AIDS is very common among lesbian and homosexual couples; although, it
can be frequent in

The Four Core Beliefs Of Derek Jeter
When you start your education at Sport and Medical Sciences Academy(SMSA) you are taught and
are expected to follow the four core beliefs that shape our school and its environment. The four core
beliefs are discipline, respect, dedication, and responsibility or how most students know it as D.R.D.R.
However, SMSA students are not the only ones that abide by these rules and beliefs. A well known
athlete that is a great example of this is the New York Yankees shortstop, Derek Jeter. According to
Jeter, his success did not come overnight. His biography displays all the hard work he went through to
become the best and he started just at the age of eight with a goal of becoming a shortstop for the New
York Yankees. Jeter inspires others to set their goals above and beyond, and if you work hard or
believe in yourself that you can achieve anything you want.
Discipline is just one of the four core beliefs and it means behavior in accord with rules of conduct,
(Dictionary.com). Throughout his career Jeter made his own rules of do s and don ts and an example
is, I always tell people that I don t like to boast and I don t like people who brag, but I break my own
rules when it comes to my parents, (Curry 55). Instead of bragging like most players would after a
win, Jeter made his own rule that he could not brag and he followed that rule, unless it comes to his
parents of course. Jeter also followed another rule, he says, I ve always felt that whether you re a
professional athlete or a bus driver, it s better to be humble, (Curry 130). Jeter probably follows most
of the rules he makes for himself every day. It keeps his behavior and the way he acts around others in
check, by now these rules are more of a habit/lifestyle instead of a burden.
Respect is the second core belief and its definition is esteem for or a sense of the worth or excellence
of a person, a personal quality or ability, or something considered as a manifestation of a personal
quality or ability, (Dictionary.com). Derek had so much respect for his coaches, teammates, and
especially his parents because when he felt like quitting they were there to make sure he achieved his
goal and dream. At a young age, Jeter and his sister Sharlee were treated

Why Is The Great Gatsby Great
Have you ever done something to others which make them think that your great after doing something
above average? Gatsby has been called great for showing his love to one person which is more than a
regular person could ever show. He might be great to Daisy or Nick, but is he great in the eyes of Tom,
or Meyer Wolfsheim. Greatness is a universal thing, everyone is great, maybe to their friend, loved
ones, but what about the other people in the world. Greatness is not a real thing but it lies before the
person s opinions.. Nick and Daisy both see the truth of who Gatsby is, so to them Gatsby is known as
The Great Gatsby. That is their opinions, because Tom might not think he s great, especially he might

His love was greater than any other human beings, he was dedicated to Daisy, and always kept his
heart there just for her. Even after Gatsby to war, and when Daisy got married to Tom he still thought
about her, cared for her, he watched over her and waited for her. Gatsby s love is the only thing that
makes him great, because not many are that dedicated to one person even after they get married.
Gatsby s love is like the Great Houdini s magic, it surprises people, it makes them believe even if its
on the impossible. But there s a twist because he s great, but only in love there s nothing else great
about him or what we know of, so does this actually make Gatsby great, or does it make him just a
normal figure in everybody s eyes. Houdini was great, people loved his magic trick, but he was only
great in magic, nothing else.Or is Gatsby just great to some, like Houdini being great to his fans but
not his family since he always scared them with his magic tricks. If being great is not who the person
is but what the person does , maybe being great is not all that hard, and everybody is

To Be Thankful For Many Things
Always be thankful for what you have. I came up with this quote. I am thankful for many things.
These make up part of my everyday life. I am thankful for three main earthly possessions. Those three
are my house, my speaker, and my drumset. It is really cool to own these things. I am thankful for
many things. One of those is my house. I like my house because that s where I live. I wake up there
and that s where I go after school. I also like to decorate the house on holidays. I help out with the
Halloween decorations. I also help with getting the decorations out of the attic. I also like my house
because my friends live near it. I go to their houses a lot because they live down the street. Overall,

Floods In New Orleans
History will affirm that from the beginning of the settlement of New Orleans in 1717, it was then and
continues to be a location destined to periodic flooding caused by the Mississippi river and rising
storms. Throughout time, New Orleans would challenge nature by primarily fortifying the river s
natural levees to periodically engineering levees to combat issues of flooding, only to return to
reinforcing or rebuilding according to damages inflicted as time progressed. Each attempt to fight
nature from overwhelming New Orleans kept setting engineers back. Refusal to abandon the coastal
areas became more costly over time; the intent to preserve the coast became more valuable than the

their behalf, the House of Representatives initiated a Select Bipartisan committee to investigate the

government foresee the possibilities of such a disaster? According to the select committee report it

disaster that was anticipated for years, and for which specific dire warnings had been issued for days.

Controversy Regarding The Human Rights Act 1998 (HRA)
I knew of some controversy regarding the Human Rights Act 1998 (HRA), mostly in relation to judge
s role and the issues with judicial review. I think its poor reputation is interesting, when considering
the nature of the European Convention on Human Rights 1950 (ECHR). The convention had British
influences and drafters. We discussed how this reputation is in part based on the general
misinformation and lack of knowledge. I recognise the HRA s limitations and the issues it raises
regarding parliamentary sovereignty. However, I learnt during our session that before the HRA the UK
relied on whatever was not prohibited was allowed . This resulted in rights being abused and it was
thereby necessary to incorporate them into domestic law to avoid ... Show more content on

No one is saying these rights are unimportant, the real issue lies with the wording and how they are
enforced. The idea of repealing the HRA, has been discussed since it was created. It is not just about
repealing the act, but also to replace it with a British Bill of Rights (BBR). Thereby, on the face of it,
there is no attempt to exclude or limit any of the human rights. The main arguments for this, is based
on the perception that it is a foreign concept, with a foreign court making decisions over the British
people. It seems this is mainly a product of misinformation.
There is, however, a potential issue with the current balancing of rights and public security or even
common sense. Back in 2000 there was a controversial case of afghan residents hijacking a plane.
They eventually had their convictions quashed, as it would have infringed their human rights. This is
an older case, but it still brings up a valid point when questioning the balance of rights and public
security. I understand the need to talk about and possibly rectify this imbalance, as no one should
benefit from crime. However, whether this requires repealing the HRA or just adding directions is

The Archetype Of Metamorphosis In Tim Burton s Big Fish
In Tim Burton s Big Fish , there is a recurring archetype of metamorphosis. It demonstrates transitions
from innocence to experience, from the Iron Age to the Golden Age; and from season to season. Each
shift plays a big part in the overall development of the film, as well as adding to several characters
dimensions. The shift from innocence to experience is demonstrated throughout William s personal
growth surrounding his father s stories. His perspective on them shifts dramatically as he searches for
their truths. In the beginning, he innocently assumes that they are nothing but lies. As his search
continues, and his experience grows, he discovered that there is a basis of truth in every story. This is
significant as it changes his perspective on his father. For years, he had foolishly believed that there
was absolutely no truth, to the point where it caused tension between them. The change in ... Show

In his stories, everything that seemed bad or evil at the time, lead to something good. His path through
the dark woods nearly killed him, yet brought him to Spector, a town of great influence. This
represents winter turning into spring. Similarly, his time at the circus did the same. It seemed as
though he would never learn Sandra s name, only small insignificant facts. However, the small facts
he did learnt eventually helped him win her over in the end. These changes were what allowed Edward
to be so successful in all his endeavours. His life as a whole also went through all the seasons. His
happy childhood represented spring. His adulthood became summer, as all his accomplishments were
realised. Autumn started after his fight with William, and finally winter came with his death. The
change in season through his life gave Edward a full life. These shifts shaped who he was, and
consequently affect those around him. The seasons represented, for Edward, hope. They assured him
that light would eventually

Summary Of The Overcoat By Nikolai Gogol
In a time of large, corrupt, and ineffective bureaucracy, Nikolai Gogol looks provide a humorous
perspective on life in Tsarist Russia. Through both The Nose and The Overcoat, Gogol reveals his true
nature as a comical humorist with the intention of giving readers a laugh but also of mocking human
vanity. From the very beginning of The Overcoat, it becomes clear the story has a comedic nature.
While explaining to the reader the touchiness of departments in Russia, Gogol gives the district police
chief as an example: He plainly demonstrated that all the imperial institutions were going to the dogs,
and that the Czar s sacred name was being taken in vain; and in proof he appended to the complain a
romance, in which the district chief of police is made to appear about once in every ten pages, and
sometimes in a downright drunken condition (Gogol 1). The scenario Gogol describes is one of
absurdity. How could someone get so worked up over a book that has no intent of offending them? No
normal person would ever become so hysterical over a piece of literature that indirectly offends them.
Claiming that the whole political system of Russia is being destroyed and that royalty had been
disgraced because of a simple character in a book that resembles oneself is preposterous. To a rational
mind, the police chief s over emotional reaction is clearly insane, as a normal person does not have the
narcissism to take minute details personally. This laughable situation

Comparing Max Bohm s Painting The Happy Mother And Child
Both the painting featured above have a common theme of Motherhood. They both picture a smiling
mother holding their child to their chest. The painting on the left is called The Happy Mother; it was
created by Max Bohm in 1913, and is currently located at the Smithsonian American Art Museum.
The Painting on the right is Mother and Child, and was made by Werner Drewes at an unknown date
and is also located in the Smithsonian American Art Museum. In terms of line and shape, color,
texture and pattern, and unity and variety, Bohm s paint is much more pleasing to the eye than Drewes

Europe. He studied Académie Julian in Paris and later won a gold medal from the Paris Salon for one
of his paintings in 1898. He later taught at school in London until he returned to the States in 1911. He

What Happens To A Dream Deferred By Langston Hughes
Langston Hughes starts his poem out with one question. What happens to a dream deferred? (1) With
that one question Hughes begins to convey the story of how people in Harlem began to put their
dreams on hold. Hughes uses very specific imagery in this poem to ignite the reader s imagination. By
using this imagery the reader can really start to understand the message he is trying to convey. The
message of how dreams, if put on hold, may dry up or even explode. Just for a moment if the reader
pays attention to the imagery they can really feel, smell, and almost touch the dream deferred that
Hughes speaks of. So what really happens to a dream deferred? Hughes asks Does it dry up/ like a
raisin in the Sun? (1 2) He is comparing the dream to a fresh grape that has been left out in the sun and
dried up. The effect is enormous for the reader. The comparison really makes you sense the dream
drying up and going away forever. Imagine comparing a dream deferred to a festering sore. Hughes
does with Or fester like a sore / And then run? (3 4) We have all had a bad sore, maybe on our knee or
finger, and just imagine putting peroxide on that sore and it bubbles up! Hughes uses the image of a
festering sore to convey the costs of dreams put on hold. . ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

load. (8 9) the image being conveyed is that of hard work and exhaustion. Think about someone have
to carry such a load all by their selves. Just does not seem fair does it? It actually seems very sad to
tell the truth. Hughes concludes his poem with a powerful question. Does it explode?

potential risk involved in confronting this type of conflict, Gruwell used the situation to create an
ongoing dialogue among her students, many of whom were plagued by violence, poverty, and despair
in their own lives and neighborhoods, and were in turn, at odds with one another. Recognizing in this
incident a teachable moment, Gruwell challenged her students in a way that they had never been

Should Apple invest into each customer to increase customer loyalty?
If this means whether Apple should invest at all, then our answer is a clear yes . But it should be clear
from our last answer that brand loyalty is already strong, so we do not believe that Apple needs to

Frank Durrenmatt Allusion
The play The Visit, written by Friedrich Dürrenmatt, is set in the impoverished German town of
Güllen post World War Ⅱ in the 1950 s. The play begins with the wealthy and powerful Claire
Zachanassian returning to her hometown with the plan to donate a million dollars in exchange for the
life of the man who wronged and jilted her in her youth, Alfred Ill. While the impoverished town at
first refuses her offer, they eventually give into their need for money and execute Ill. Throughout the
play, the author uses the characterizations of Claire to construct an allusion to the three fates from
Greek mythology. The Greek fates are influential, immortal women who are in charge of controlling
the lives and deaths of mortals, symbolized by a string. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
There are many characterizations that Durrenmatt uses to construct the allusion including Claire s
physical characteristics along with ones that correlate individually with each of the fates. Dürrenmatt
alludes to these beings through Claire to compare and to contrast the beings. The fates are greatly
powerful beings who are in a position within greek mythology to impose justice upon those who seek
fit. By alluding them to Claire, Dürrenmatt is using their characteristics and capabilities to further
characterize that Claire is as powerful as the fates and is also capable of imposing justice upon other
humans. While the allusion shows that the two beings are alike in that they both have power over
justice, it also highlights how the Claire and the fates both use their power differently. The fates use
their power to control human lives because it is their duty with greek mythology and they do so in a
just, unbiased manner. This is greatly contrasting to Claire who imposes her power over justice upon
anyone who she deems fit based on her own unjust biases. Dürrenmatt uses this theme of unjust power
to support the social commentary within his play about how although people of power and authority
are generally seen as more just, this is not always true. This social commentary is used as a reflection
upon the era of Dürrenmatt s youth, of which was greatly centered around World War Ⅱ. During World
War Ⅱ there were many authoritative figures that were not seen as just in their actions but because of
the position of power they obtained they were able to impose their justice upon others. Dürrenmatt
greatly disagreed with these figures and saw them to be unjust and only harmful because of their
power which is scene through Claire in the play who is able to buy off whatever justice she wants
because she is so powerful.

Pros And Cons Of Prostitution
The prostitution debate in American culture has continued for decades without a response from the
federal government. Some states have drafted initiatives legalizing prostitution to an extent, such as
Nevada, where it is partially decriminalized, and most recently California. Over the course of global
history, many nations have long stood with women in the fight to legalize prostitution. Yet, to
distinguish itself from other nations at the time of its independence, America outlawed prostitution to
preserve Judeo Christian values. Prostitution poses no health risk to the public at large, and
furthermore, prostitution without regulation often comes with crime, abuse, etc. The federal
government should sponsor health care and security measures for sex workers, as it is their right as
free Americans to pursue work without fear of rape or death. In 1875, U.S. Congress passed the Page
act, which outlawed the importation of women for the sex trade. (Weitzer, 75) At first glance, this
seems like an ethical measure with the end goal of protesting an illegal and unethical sex trade.
However, this was not accomplished, as it instead simply contributed to harsher, more dangerous
climates for sex workers being imported illegally to the country. (Weitzer, 76) Despite the frightening
conditions of the sex trade, prostitution in the West became a lofty ideal for women from
underdeveloped countries, who pursued jobs in America despite low pay and low prestige. (Weitzer,
76) Most early

Is The Language Used In The Book 1984 By George Orwell
Imagine living in a world where thinking was against the law and that only used the most simple form

today is taking the track to minimal thought and quick and easy words. In the nation named Britannia
from 1984 the government, corporate, and technological control over the general populous closely
mirror the modern world.
In the book 1984, the vocabulary is quickly decreasing in words, mirroring the use of text talk instead
of saying or typing full words. On page 46 in 1984 Syme states that newspeak, the language used in
Britannia, is the only language that shrinks every year. In the modern times phrases such as LOL,
LMAO, and BRB are becoming more common. Therefore, one could see the similarities are clear,
efficiency is valued far more that having a more formal conversation. In the world of 1984 Newspeak

Is Google Making Us Stupid By Nicholas Carr
In today s society, it has become the social norm to say, google it, when we do not know the answer or
we are just too lazy to look for an answer. Instead we continuously reference a site that claims to have
all the answers. In Nicholas Carr`s passage, Is Google Making Us Stupid? he goes in depth to explain
the effects of relying on technology. Through a well thought out and dominating ethos and logos
argument he finds ways to warn the public of the coming doom of the dependencies on technology,
with a less dominating pathos argument he makes the audience think deeper and fear the changes in
our minds, as well as using slippery slope fallacies to push his opinions.
In an argument proving an ethos claim, the author need to show their credibility in any way possible,
as well as the credibility of others that they reference in their works. In Carr s first paragraph he uses
an allusion from Stanley Kubrick`s 2001: A space Odyssey, that he utilizes to explain that much like
the computer feeling it s dismantlement he can feel it too and I ve had an uncomfortable sense that
someone, or something, has been tinkering with my brain, remapping the neural circuitry,
reprograming the memory (Carr 376). After all the time, he spends online he believes it has altered his
main frame just like how the computer felt in Kubrick s story. By comparing himself to the computer
example, Carr is showing his audience that since he has felt the same way and he has first hand

Compare And Contrast Annie Dillard And Virginia Woolf
Despite any futile resistance, each living creature eventually succumbs to the forces of death.
Ultimately, death is a part of living. Death is inevitable. Likewise, although a diminutive moth may
appear to be insignificant and pathetic, it can symbolize the true connections between the duality of
life and death and human beings. For instance, Annie Dillard and Virginia Woolf illustrate similar,
universal messages about the value of life through the metaphor of a moth. However, the manner in
which they portray their themes and purpose varies, for their personal experiences and writing styles
influence their perspectives of life and death.
Unlike Annie Dillard, Virginia Woolf was an essayist during the turbulence of the early twentieth
century, where she witnessed the atrocities of both world wars and the lack of women in the
intellectual realm. Ultimately, Woolf decided to end her own life by drowning herself. Therefore, her
views of life ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
For instance, Dillard explains a variety of instances with a more straightforward approach, while
Woolf describes an individual event with complex sentences and ideas. However, as the moth in Woolf
s essay begins to face death, her syntax becomes less complex, with shorter sentences and less
connected ideas. Likewise, the vocabulary of Dillard s work is not as advanced, whereas Woolf would
include complex diction to create a more formal tone. Furthermore, the tone of both writers provides
different emotional senses to take away from the piece. For instance, Woolf concludes her essay by
stating that death is stronger than her, whereas Dillard writes of her lively conversations with fellow
writers. While Woolf effectively shares a much darker and emotional attitude, focusing on the power
of death, both voices help impart the author s true meaning and

Pricing The Bond Option Of Vasicek And Cir Models
Pricing the Bond option in Vasicek and CIR models
Name: Huajun Liu
Professor: Marco Pereira
Course: Math 624
Date: 2016/12/18
1. Abstract
This report is aimed to describe how we will use Python to build an application to price risky bond
and the European options of the bond in stochastic hazard rate and interest rate models. We are going
to simulate the path of interest rate using CIR model and simulate the path of hazard rate using
Vasicek model. Then we will get the survival function from simulated hazard rate and get the bond
price from it. Lastly we will price the European options of the risky bond based on the simulated bond
price by using both closed form formula (Jamshidian, F. (1989)) and Monte Carlo simulation.
2. Introduction
Today, an increasing number of risky bond options have been introduced to customers, but only a few
customers can understand how to price a risky bond option. The credit derivative is a new type of
financial derivative which is based on the credit condition of the loan developed in the 1990s, and its
function is to separate the credit risk from other risks of the primary assets and transfer it to the
counterparty. Also, credit derivatives can make credit risk appear in a more fluid and tradable form,
which has a great application in improving the portfolio of returns and presenting a highly structured
risk portfolio. Meanwhile, credit derivatives can be used in the investment market Avoid risks, and
thus mobilize the credit market activity.

The Wonderful Bedroom Essay
The Wonderful Bedroom
Have you ever wondered how something so simple as your bedroom could have so much meaning?
How a place where one usually just sleeps and doesn t return until the next night, could be so special
to someone? It does make one think, once stopped and thought about. To some, it means as much as a
gym does to a basketball player or as much as a tree does to a monkey. But then there are also those
who still think of their bedroom as just a place to sleep and prepare themselves. I guess things have
different meanings for each person, but for many including myself, their bedroom ranks near the top
of the list. A bedroom is meaningful because often it is where one grows up, where lots of time is

And what could possibly be a more relaxing place than your own room? It s amazing how one can
concentrate so well in their room, unlike a college student who may have trouble trying to focus
through all of the distractions.
Not only is the bedroom a perfect place to sleep and study, but what if you just want to get away and
relax? In your room, you get to control things for yourself, such as the temperature. It s not like
outside where you can t do anything about the weather, but rather, you choose how cool or warm you
want it. You get to make your bed as comfortable as you wish. This is your space, it s not fit for
anybody else s needs but your own. Ever try and watch what you want on TV while there are four
other members of your family fighting to grab control of the same thing? Well, I have the perfect
solution. Move the TV in your own room and lock the door. It s wonders how many more
opportunities you have when you have your own room. I ve always had my own room and pretty
much take it for granted. I always have the option of taking a nap in peace and quiet since I have never
had to share. The list of positives is endless when it comes to having your own room
A final and probably the greatest factor of all is the individuality of one s room. This is what declares
the difference from one person s room to the next. It brings out one s character and personality.
Usually, you can tell how a person is by some factors

Chronicle Of A Death
Chronicle of a Death;
Magical Realism as a Device to reflect the times.
Literature is often said to be used as a means of reflecting the times, society and climate the author is
in and experiencing. Values, norms the ethos of a particular culture place or time is often interpreted
through its literature. (Albrecht, 1954)
This is seen throughout many texts that are present; Oedipus, Sophocles and the tragic hero, The
Elephant Vanishes, Murakami and the loss of culture and lastly with Chronicle of a death foretold by
Marquez.

The Traditional Functions Of Police And Armed Forces
2 The traditional functions of the police and armed forces
The main aim of security activities is to preserve the values of society against external and internal
threats, preserve the peace and freedom of the people and to ensure the existence and smooth
development of society (Bebler et al., 1999). Perception of threats is crucial since threats generate the
functions of the two most important actors of the security system the police and the armed forces.
Traditionally, the police are expected to play the central role in policing that has a narrow law
enforcement and crime control or crime repression focus (Greene, 2000). Police are therefore
traditionally responsible for public order and safety maintenance, for law enforcement, for

Armed forces exist to defend the state against real or potential external threats and as a coercive tool
to promote and protect national interests abroad (Edmonds, 2006). The core organizing principle for
regular armed forces in a traditional way is the defence of the national territory (Dandeker, 1994;
Grizold, 1999). Therefore, their traditional function is also deterrence and military attack.
Having in mind Bittner s (1970) definition of the police, which defines the police in terms of their
capacity to use non negotiable coercive force in any situation that appears to require the prompt and
decisive response, the policing is carried out by several other organisations (constabulary forces),
including military (Whetstone, Walsh, Kelling, Parker Banton, Brodeur, 2016).
Enloe (1990) dealt with the differences between the traditional characteristics of the police and the
armed forces. She described the main traditional characteristics of the police as follows:
the police usually do not perform their duties in other countries; they have personnel located
throughout the national territory;
the police operate in relatively small units;
the police are under the authority of civilian officials (local governments or ministries of

Theme Of Flowers In Sons And Lovers
David Herbert Lawrence was born on 11 September, 1885 in Eastwood, Nottinghamshire, England.
His father, named Arthur Lawrence, was a coal miner and his mother, Lydia Lawrence, worked in the
lace making industry. Lawrence was a noted author of novels, short stories, essays, plays and poems,
and is nowadays considered one of the most influential writers of the 20th century (Biography.com
Editors). One of his most acknowledged novels is Sons and Lovers , published in 1913, in which he
depicts the life of a working class family: The Morels. In this book, Lawrence employs symbols in
order to the help the reader understand the innermost feelings of each of the characters, as well as to
describe their main personality traits.
In first place, the use of flowers as a symbol of happiness is crucial for the understanding of Mrs
Gertrude Morel´s feelings. As she was unhappy and disappointed of the life she had, Mrs Morel tried
to find the peace and joy she needed by beholding flowers. This is portrayed in: The front garden was
a small square with a private hedge. There she stood trying to soothe herself with the scent of flowers
and the fading, beautiful evening (Lawrence, D.H. Sons and Lovers. England. Penguin Books, 1976.

Society is required to take action to maintain order against crime, they claim. If society did not
practice justice, then people would be free to do whatever they wished. It would be anarchy and a
disaster. The more debatable argument is that victims families suffer without capital punishment. They
are forced not only to live with the thought of their deceased loved one, but also to constantly confront
the thought that the person who caused their pain is still alive. Olga Polites, a New Jersey teacher, was
strictly opposed to the death penalty until her husband s cousin was murdered. Her anger caused her to
change her views entirely (23 25). She, like others who support capital punishment, believes that
revenge is the panacea for her pain.
While some may argue that execution is the only effective remedy to serious crime, others believe that
less cruel punishments like life imprisonment are just as effective forms of justice if not more effective
. Life imprisonment allows a criminal to improve himself by permitting him the chief human right: the
right to life. While victims families do deserve justice, their loss does not sanction them to decide
another person s fate. Families should appreciate the possibility that a criminal may repent rather than
wish vengeance on him. They have no more right to bring harm to a person than the rest of society;
revenge is not a valid answer to crime (Cohen 161 170). Even worse than executing those who are

The s Descent Into Depression And Madness
1. Many signs throughout the novel specify Esther s descent into depression and madness. Outside
factors such as social pressures cause Esther s descent into madness. Societal pressures to get married
and be pure expedite Esther s descent into madness. The stages of this are specified at first as Esther
saying she feels I just bumped from my hotel to work and to parties and from parties to my hotel and
back to work like a numb trolleybus. This feeling of being inexplicably unhappy and not having any
motivation is the first stage of her descent into madness. This quickly progresses to her feeling more
depressed and not being able to partake in activities she usually enjoyed. She slowly loses the ability
to read and write which is a large step towards insanity. She fully descends into madness when she
begins to have suicidal thoughts and actions, which she eventually tries to act upon. Her descent into
madness was inevitable because she is suffering from a mental condition that would have caused her
to go insane regardless, but her experiences and outside pressures drive her to madness more quickly.
2. The primary meaning of the bell jar in the novel is the unspecified mental illness that plagues
Esther. She feels trapped inside her mind and in turn this causes her to feel hopeless and isolated. She
says that no matter what she does she ...would be sitting under the same glass bell jar, stewing in my

A Farewell To Arms Rhetorical Analysis
I have a simple philosophy: Fill what s empty. Empty what s full. Scratch where it itches.
(Longworth). In the novel, A Farewell to Arms, Ernest Hemingway conveys this simple philosophy to
tell the story of Frederic s internal battle between love and war. Frederic is internally attempting to fill
the empty void in his heart with love, while simultaneously emptying the overflowing bucket of harsh
memories from war. The itch of every man is the love of a woman, and this itch is especially growing
within Frederic, because, as the musical about men alone at war, South Pacific, states, There is nothing
like a dame. Ernest Hemingway enhances the novel by using several rhetorical strategies such as
simple diction, syntax, foreshadowing, and ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Throughout the novel, the rain is consistently brought up when Catherine reveals All right. I m afraid
of the rain because sometimes I see me dead in it, (Hemingway 126). The rain is not only
foreshadowing, yet it is a metaphor to death. For example, when Aymo, Tenente, Piani, Bonello, and
Frederic were on a road that led to a river (Hemingway 209) , when it began to rain again. Which led
to a shooting between Germans (supposedly) and the men. The constant repetition of rain when death
is present shows the metaphor that rain itself brings to the book. When rain comes, death follows. The
novel ends with Frederic leaving the hospital after Catherine has died, it begins to rain. Since rain is
shown at the end, maybe the author is leaving the reader of the thought of Frederic going downhill in
the future. The presence of rain equates to the presence of death. This use of rain as a metaphor for
death shows Hemingway s attitude through the relationship between Frederic and Catherine. Rain is
temporary, it comes when a cloud overflows with moisture and disappears when the sun shines
brightly, as goes the relationship between the two. It comes and goes, explodes and disappears, just
like the rain from the

A Study on California s Smoking Ban
California s Smoking Ban
(APA Citation)
It was in 1964 that the Surgeon General of the United States first published a report on the ill effects
of smoking cigarettes, and within a year the first law requiring health warnings on cigarette packages
was in effect. From that point, the government has slowly, but continually, imposed more and more
restrictions on the use of tobacco products. Throughout the 1960s, 70 s, 80 s, and 90 s, the both
individual jurisdictions within the State of California, as well as the entire state, continued to impose
tougher and tougher restrictions on smoking cigarettes until 1994, when California became the first
state in the union to pass a law which completely prohibited smoking in most enclosed workplaces. (
Secondhand Smoke Exposure ) This law, which took effect in 1998, restricted smoking in all enclosed
places of employment including offices, factories, bars and restaurants. But by the early 21st century,
the current restrictions were not enough for California s lawmakers and a push was started to ban
smoking in all public places. Since the passage of these restrictions in the 1990 s, there has been a
great deal of change in the state with advocates of the smoking ban pointing to the increased health
benefits for the citizens of the state, while opponents focus on the economic damaged in the business
community caused by the restrictions. It is therefore necessary to examine the State of California and
its ban on smoking and how it has

John Downe, a lonesome weaver, writes in this passage a letter he sent to his wife overseas in England

family means to him, thus allowing his wife to realize that Downe has put a lot of thought into his

children wouldn t have to worry about provisions show that he always wants the best for his family. In

big to Quine and it sets up a lot of what he works with. Quine then discuss observation categoricals,
which he says are test in pairs of observation. Next in the chapter is holism, which is the theory that
parts of a whole are in interconnection, such that they can t be understood without reference to the
whole, which is then regarded as greater than the sum of its parts. Quine then ends his firster chapter
with the talk of empirical content and norms and aims. Quine, in the section of norms and aims,
discusses the relationship between naturalized epistemology and traditional epistemology.

International Business Project: The Czech Republic
Introduction
The Czech Republic is a small, landlocked country located in Central Europe, southeast of Germany,
bordered by Austria, Germany, Poland, and Slovakia. Slightly smaller than South Carolina, the Czech
Republic covers 78.866 square kilometers (sq km): 77,276 sq km of land and 1,590 sq km of water.
Following the First World War, the closely related Czechs and Slovaks of the former Austro
Hungarian Empire merged cultures to form Czechoslovakia. During the interwar years, the country s
leaders were frequently preoccupied with meeting the demands of other ethnic minorities within the
republic, most notably the Sudeten Germans ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The Czech Republic became a member of the European Union (EU) on May 1, 2004. Through the
course of the accession process, most barriers to trade in industrial goods with the EU have been
eliminated. The process of accession had a positive impact on reform in the Czech Republic, and
implementation of EU directives and regulations continues. The U.S. Department of Commerce
Country Commercial Guide for the Czech Republic summarizes the economic trends and outlook this
way:
The principal industries are motor vehicles, machine building, iron and steel production,
metalworking, chemicals, electronics, transportation equipment, textiles, glass, brewing, china,
ceramics, and pharmaceuticals. The main agricultural products are sugar beets, fodder roots, potatoes,
wheat, and hops. As a small, open economy in the heart of Europe, economic growth is strongly
influenced by demand for Czech exports and flows of foreign direct investment.
Heavy industry received major economic support during the 1950s, but central planning resulted in
waste and inefficient use of industrial resources. Although the labor force was traditionally skilled and
efficient, inadequate incentives for labor and management contributed to high labor turnover, low
productivity, and poor product quality.
The Czech koruna (crown) became fully convertible for most business purposes in

The History Of Algebra, How It Started, The Most Study...
This paper will show the history of algebra, how it started, and how it grew to be what it is today. It
will show that it started it developments from the basic arithmetic operations that first were used to
solve simple addition, subtraction, multiplication, and division and how it went incorporating more
operations that permitted it to solve problems that involve abstract concepts. It will show that the
recorded history begins mostly with the Egyptian papyrus, and how it went passing from one
civilization. Moreover; it will show how each civilization contributed with something that at the end
helped it to become what it is today, the most study mathematical subject around the world.
1. Introductions
However; the recorded history begins with the Rhind Papyrus from Egypt and clay tablets from
Babylon, which describe the basic mathematical operations that include an unknown variable, then it
passed to India where written records in Sanskrit show that the Indian were already describing
verbally what seems to be the description of unknown variables. Next the recorded history passed to
the Greeks, where Diophantus published the b books that describe the syncopated algebra which are
considered to be the basis of all algebra used and studied by European mathematician.
Moreover; it was in Europe where the recorded history of the algebra really was taken to the next
level. The lead was taken by Fibonacci with is book liber abaci, who added the application of
sequences and crated a

Examples Of Pride In The Iliad
In his telling of The Iliad, Homer introduces us to one of the demigods, Akhilleus. Akhilleus was born
by the goddess, Thetis, daughter to Poseidon and to the human, Peleus. His position is as commander
of the entire Greek army. At the start of this war, between the Akhaians and the Trojians, there was a
falling out between him and the Greek king, Agamemnon. In short, he ended up packing his bags and
leaving the army without a commander. Pride was the cause of this whole quarrel. This pride of his
was the center of many improprieties during the war. A feeling that you respect yourself and deserve
to be respected by other people (definition of pride) This first example may have occurred near the
end of the book, but it is going to be used first. Akhilleus pride was the direct cause for the need to
withhold and torture Hektor s body after he killed him. (The Iliad, 22.410 421, 24.14 27) This event
caused him to act inhumanely, no matter the reason. This action also prevented Hektor s family from
having a proper funeral. Said Akhilleus: Let it be so. Let someone bring the ransom and the dead
away, if the Olympian commands this in his wisdom. (24.63 66) Later he allowed Hektor s body to be
taken away. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Sheen) Another time when Akhilleus pride kicked in was when his prizes from a previous battle we
taken from him, and he decided to just walk away. ...Well, this time I [Akhilleus] make sail for home...

Frankly, he should have just sucked it up and kept going, besides he was technically AWOL. (absent
without leave) However, in his defense, Agamemnon should have just done what the priest requested.
Unfortunately, Akhilleus misses an opportunity to fix his mistake, when Agamemnon sent an offer of

Queer Theory For The Sociology Of Gender And Sexuality
Valocchi s article, NOT YET QUEER ENOUGH The Lessons of Queer Theory for the Sociology of
Gender and Sexuality, discusses the advances queer theory has made towards becoming a Sociological
Theory. Sociologists that study gender and sexuality are trying to cover all aspects when considering
queer theory. Social structures need to be taken into consideration when dealing with sexuallity as
well as gender ientities. To fully understand queer theory we need to understand how all the concepts
regarding ones sexuality, the gender they choose to identify as, and sex in regards to their biology
relate. Sex is the biological classificaition of being male or female while gender is the social
construction of who you are and what you have to do because

Persuasive Essay On Security And Security
Crime is not new to the world; as a matter of fact, the crime rate is gradually increasing and terrorist
attacks are still rampant since the 9/11 bombing incident. In response, the government created ways to
prevent such wickedness to happen with technology such as data encryption, information gathering,
and electronic surveillance. This raises concern from the community on how much and should the law
enforcement agencies have access to such information. Even though security and safety was the main
goal for such response, limits should be considered on to what extent are they able to gather
information on people. The privacy of an individual should be of higher priority than their security in
the eyes of the law. By its very nature, law enforcement is an information rich activity. One example
of this is the battle between the FBI and Apple company in February 2016. The FBI called on Apple to
help them hack an iPhone belonging to Islamic State inspired terrorist Syed Rizwan Farook, who had
opened fire on a local government office building in San Bernardino in December 2015, killing 14
people. This is for the FBI to be able to see and trace the motives and any other plans of the terrorist.
Although Apple had given some data about Farook s iPhone activities, the FBI wanted more from his
iPhone to the extent that they wanted it encrypted. Yet, the Apple refused to comply with the FBI s
demand stating that they will not only expose

Scenario:
A docking survey should be carried out twice within a 5 year period. The intermediate survey must be
completed within 3 years. Preparation for dry dock begins after the ship sails from its previous one. A
dry dock list of new items is created with specification sheets describing individual jobs. These sheets
are compiled into a dry dock file which some time before the due date of the docking is submitted to
several dry docks for pricing.
As the ship was due in for routine maintenance, one of the main jobs during this maintenance for the

The critical path for my project is as shown above. It shows the fastest time (red arrows) it would take
to completely remove and replace the Cathelco Anodes and also gives a better understanding of what
task need to be completed on time to make sure the job is done and completed on time without any
problems.
Indicate the Dummy Task:
The Dummy task for my job is obtaining the Permit to Work and gathering all the tools required to
start the job. These two task can be done at the same time as there are two electricians and only one of
them was needed to sign the PTW as one of them was assisting. The other Dummy task was making
sure everything is isolated and putting up the scaffolding. These two task can be done together at the
same time as they are done by two different groups of people. This second group of Dummy task also
shows that if there was a delay in gathering the tools or filling the permit to work, the following task
would not be affected as it could be started at a later time and would not therefore affect the critical
path. This Dummy task helps make the preparation for the job more better and also reduces the
amount of time it would take to get the job started.

The Intent Behind the Enuma Elish (Creation Epic) Essay
The Intent Behind the Enuma Elish
The Enuma Elish, often known as The Creation Epic, is often considered the primary source of
Mesopotamian cosmology. However, to view the Enuma Elish as a cosmological myth obscures the
true intent of the epicís author. The cosmological elements of the Enuma Elish are secondary to the
authorís effort to explain the supremacy of Marduk, to justify absolute oriental monarchy, and to
defend Babylon as the axis mundi.
The Enuma Elish was composed in Babylonin the early second millennium B.C.E. The decay of
Sumerian civilization allowed the Old Babylonian Empire to become the cultural and political center
of Mesopotamia. Babylon was governed by absolute and despotic kings capable of wielding ... Show

Furthermore, the transfer of power to Babylon is illustrated by the subjugation of all gods to the rule
of Marduk. After erecting a throne for Marduk, the gods proclaim, Thou art (the most) important of
the great gods; Thy destiny is unequaled, thy command is (like that of) AnuÖTo thee we have given
kingship over the totality of the whole universe ( Enuma Elish, 36). This statement reflects the reality
of the times. During the writing of the Enuma Elish the Old Babylonian Empire weilded supreme
power in Mesopotamia.
Moreover, the recognition Mardukís absolute rule is etiological in relation to the power of the
Babylonian kings. According to Assyriologist Benjamin Foster, the Enuma Elish explains the
evolution from early government by elders to absolute monarchy. As the battle between Marduk and
Tiamat illustrates, Foster notes the catalyst for this change is portrayed as outside threat calling for a
war leader. The leader demanded, as his terms for leadership, absolute obedience, even when the
threat of war was removed (Foster, 9).
Once the writer of the Enuma Elish set forth the supremacy of the Babylonian God and the precedent
for earthly monarchy, he/she turned to the task of translating divine superiority to earthly. The process
of translating divine power to earthly power begins on line 50 of Tablet IV of the Enuma Elish.
Grateful for Mardukís leadership, the gods construct the

The American Liberty And Freedom
As time goes on our ways of life begin to change however, the ideas and past events still remain.
Throughout history we have seen how American liberty and freedom is always centered on the
dominant white male image. As time continues on those of minority decent have had work twice as
hard to receive the same level of equality as all whites both male and female. Women and African
Americans have struggled much more because back then white men believed that they couldn t be
trusted and that they were not worthy of holding power. The inequality of American liberties and
freedom has been displayed recently when a white male cop attacked a young African American
student. She wasn t able to express her freedom because she had to adhere to the cop that was
dominant towards her. Women had to work so hard to acquire their freedom and this was displayed
through the Seneca Falls Convention. Elizabeth Cady Stanton wanted her voice to be heard and she
spoke about how women deserved to be as free as men. She stated how government created
disgraceful laws as give man the power to chastise and imprison his wife, to take the wages which she
earns, the property in which she inherits... This clearly shows how back in the past women weren t
equal to men and they really didn t have any liberties or really any freedom. The men were of power
and basically anything they said was what was right. Going back to the case of the young African girl,
her voice wasn t being heard. All throughout the

Errors with Barcode Medication Administration
Erin Graham
West Texas A amp;M
October 02, 2012
Abstract
Medication errors are among the most significant cause of patient injury in all types of medical errors
(Johnson, Carlson, Tucker, amp; Willette, n.d). In the nursing profession, medication administration
errors occur 34% of the time, second only to physician ordering errors (Gooder, 2011). The
introduction of information technology, such as the Bar Code Medication Administration (BCMA),
offers new opportunities for reducing medication administration errors. BCMA was developed by the
Veteran s Affairs Medical Center in 1998 to help improve the documentation of medication
administration, decrease medication errors and provide ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The nurse must verify the physician s medication order, including the dose and time, and then the
pharmacy is responsible for their own checks and balances via the BCMA system in order to complete
the dispensing phase of the medication (Gooder, 2011). The nurse enters the BCMA system with a
login and password and is able then to see a list of the virtual due list for a specific patient. The
computer on wheels is then taken to that patient s room and the five rights of medication
administration begin. As nurses, we are taught to use the five rights of drug administration are (1) right
patient (2) right medication (3) right dose (4) right route and (5) right time. By scanning the barcode
on the patient s hospital identification band, the nurse then asks for the patient to verbally state their
name and date of birth, which can be verified by the nurse on the virtual due list and then choses the
medication that are due for administration at that time. The medication is dispensed and the nurse is
able to scan the barcode on the medication, the scanning triggers the automatic documentation of the
medication given (Kelly, 2012).
According to pharmacist T. Perryman, the errors he sees the most in the pharmacy setting occurs when
hospital made barcodes are being added to the medication rather than the medication having factory
barcodes already present. The process of standardizing all pharmaceutical drug

Evolution Of Sexual And Sexual Selection
This article focuses on the evolution of sexual differences in insects. Intense sexual selection due to
competition for mates is the main driving force behind the evolution of such variations. Males produce
smaller and more numerous gametes than females and often competition between males is greater than
that between females. It is suggested by the authors that the material contribution by each of sexes to
the next generation is what determines the reproductive rate of the population. In an instances where
one sex contributes more to the reproduction and survival of the offspring than the other this sex will
become the limiting factor for sexual selection, and will be subject to greater loss of fitness if an
importer mate choice is made. In terms of contribution to offspring both male and female can provide
care in various ways. The relative investment of each sex will determine the degree to which the one
sex competes for the opposite one. The observed sexual differences proved a clue about the intensity
of sexual selection in particular species. Usually females contribute more to the offspring care and are
the limiting factor for sexual selection, as a result males exhibit more variations in secondary sexual
characteristics in terms of morphology and behavior. In species that male provide more care the roles
are reversed. Though direct care is not common in insects the males might contribute indirectly by
protecting the female after mating as observed in several

  • 2. Violations Of HIPAA HIPAA is the federal Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act of 1996. The primary goal of the law is to make it easier for people to keep health insurance, protect the confidentiality and security of healthcare information and help the healthcare industry control administrative costs. Under HIPAA, patients have the right to access and control their health records. In order to safeguard protected health information (PHI, or patients individually identifiable information), health care providers must restrict access to the information and have patients permission to disclose it. Federal and state governments enact HIPPA. HIPPA is a federal law and therefore the rules apply to all states. The state government handles violations until the federal government needs to step in. Some things to keep in mind when employed by places of health care are, always keep the patients information confidential unless privacy release forms are signed. Never talk about a patient with another coworker or someone outside of work. The only time it is ok to talk to another coworker is if that person is directly involved in the patients health care plan, such as a nurse coming on duty, or a doctor ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... They know their health care will not be public information for anyone to see and if it is there will be consequences. Violations of HIPPA are punishable by law on state and federal levels, depending on the violation. An example is, if the individual did not know that he/she violated HIPAA, the punishment can be a minimum of $100 per violation, with an annual maximum of $25,000 for repeat violations. Maximum would be $50,000 per violation, with an annual maximum of $1.5 million. A more severe violation such as a HIPAA violation is due to willful neglect and is not corrected, minimum of $50,000 per violation, with an annual maximum of $1.5 million and a maximum of $50,000 per violation, with an annual maximum of $1.5 ... • 3. 1 John Gnosticism 7. The author of 1 John was concerned about the conditions within the group, which related to false teachings of some Christians. Specifically, the physical humanity of Jesus, his Incarnation in the flesh , and the necessity of showing love for fellow believers (Harris, 2014, p.437). The book of 1 John may have been a response to protoGnostics, secessionists who were predecessors of the Gnosticism that challenged other forms of Christianity from the second through the fifth centuries CE (Harris, 2014, p.437). Specifically, Gnosticism concentrated on a two fold view of the cosmos, which represented the belief that only the spirit was pure and good and that the physical world, the creation of a subordinate god, was permanently dishonest. ... • 4. Graffiti Is Bad Graffiti: A force for evil Graffiti refers to pictures or words inscribed on public property. It has been around for thousands of years found in caves to modern buildings. However, several people argue whether modern graffiti is a force representing good or evil. Graffiti is a negative method of portraying art due to the fact that it negatively affects people within a community and the community itself, it consumes a lot of a cities economy, and it is not necessary for it to be produced on public property. Teenagers and young adults abuse graffiti which negatively impacts a community and the people living within it, and here is how. According to the Los Angeles Police Department, young adults...damage property for reasons of boredom, anger or revenge. Others vandalize to show defiance toward rules, laws and authority or to draw attention to a cause . (6) In other words, teenagers are wrongly influenced by graffiti and become rebellious towards the law and high authorities. In addition, graffiti ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... However, it is not necessary for people to deface public property. There are alternative resources such as canvases in which people may produce their art. According to Noel Sanchez, Artists tag both public and private property, which becomes costly for taxpayers and business and property owners (Graffiti as Vandalism). As seen here, paint is being sprayed on public and private property which negatively affects the taxpayers. In addition, not even art institutions such as the Museum of Contemporary Art in Los Angeles or the Museum of the City of New York find graffiti attractive on their property and prohibit their premises to be vandalized (Graffiti is Always Vandalism). This proves that even art museums would not consider graffiti attractive if their own property was covered in it, therefore suggesting that graffiti ruins ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 5. Concert Review Papers A Glimpse of snow and evergreen was a concert I will never forget. In my opinion, this concert was the most high energy and energetic concert we have had (since my time here). The songs were all surrounded by the theme of holiday spirit and it gave a warm and friendly tone that I believe the audience felt too. We had a variety of songs, in cooperated dancing, and were able to have almost a full house. This will be the concert we remember for the fun times and best choreography. It took a lot of preparation to put this concert together. Acapella alone had 10 songs we were participating in. And, many of the songs in this concert were in a different language. I still support the idea that we work best as a big group as we isolate sections. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Somehow, no matter what we are facing we always seem to pull it together during the concert. I loved the 2 soloists in 1 2 and how much courage they had to give it their all even though it was their first time being in choir. Choir 3 4 always amazes me with their rich sound. They sound so sophisticated and mature. It was also interesting to hear them perform another rendition of a song we had sang last year. Also, the middle schoolers did wonderful with their carol of the bells. In terms of our set list, I would say Gborn was our best piece. I heard the most feedback from the audience about how that song was beautiful, angelic, and just rich overall. I think we could have worked on dynamics at times but it is definitely a song that should be taken to tour. My personal favorite was Merry Christmas Mozart because it showed the fun side of us and gave the audience some perspective. Plus, as I looked around during that song I saw nothing but smiles. The most touching part of the performance was when the alumni came on stage and sang Carol of the Bells with us. It brought back memories of them being with us. It also signified how much of a family we are even after we go to ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 6. Hiv And How Is It Different From Hiv ( Human... What exactly is AIDS and how is it different from HIV (Human Immunodeficiency Virus)? AIDS is a severe form of HIV in which someone s immune system is completely destroyed; HIV is a virus that affects the immune system. In other words, you can have HIV without AIDS, but if you have AIDS, then you automatically have HIV. The origin of HIV is disputed between scientists; some have theorized that it was passed down from apes and somehow transferred between humans. HIV attacks the bloodstream and eliminates the body s CD4 cells, which essential for countering diseases and infections. Without these cells, the human body is vulnerable to viruses and diseases. Once inside one s body, the HIV virus first replicates and spreads itself using the CD4 cells; then the CD4 cells are destroyed. Once the CD4 have been destroyed, a person s immune system has been greatly weakened that even a simple cold or fever can nearly kill them. Due to this, the human body cannot counter diseases and illnesses due to the destruction of the CD4 cells and the weakened state of the immune system. HIV and AIDS is spread and contracted by humans in a variety of ways. HIV/AIDS is spread when bodily fluids, such as saliva, breast milk, and blood, are exchanged from human to human. These body fluids are exchanged through human contact, blood transfers, or sharing medical equipment. Scientists have discovered that HIV/AIDS is very common among lesbian and homosexual couples; although, it can be frequent in ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 7. The Four Core Beliefs Of Derek Jeter When you start your education at Sport and Medical Sciences Academy(SMSA) you are taught and are expected to follow the four core beliefs that shape our school and its environment. The four core beliefs are discipline, respect, dedication, and responsibility or how most students know it as D.R.D.R. However, SMSA students are not the only ones that abide by these rules and beliefs. A well known athlete that is a great example of this is the New York Yankees shortstop, Derek Jeter. According to Jeter, his success did not come overnight. His biography displays all the hard work he went through to become the best and he started just at the age of eight with a goal of becoming a shortstop for the New York Yankees. Jeter inspires others to set their goals above and beyond, and if you work hard or believe in yourself that you can achieve anything you want. Discipline is just one of the four core beliefs and it means behavior in accord with rules of conduct, (Dictionary.com). Throughout his career Jeter made his own rules of do s and don ts and an example is, I always tell people that I don t like to boast and I don t like people who brag, but I break my own rules when it comes to my parents, (Curry 55). Instead of bragging like most players would after a win, Jeter made his own rule that he could not brag and he followed that rule, unless it comes to his parents of course. Jeter also followed another rule, he says, I ve always felt that whether you re a professional athlete or a bus driver, it s better to be humble, (Curry 130). Jeter probably follows most of the rules he makes for himself every day. It keeps his behavior and the way he acts around others in check, by now these rules are more of a habit/lifestyle instead of a burden. Respect is the second core belief and its definition is esteem for or a sense of the worth or excellence of a person, a personal quality or ability, or something considered as a manifestation of a personal quality or ability, (Dictionary.com). Derek had so much respect for his coaches, teammates, and especially his parents because when he felt like quitting they were there to make sure he achieved his goal and dream. At a young age, Jeter and his sister Sharlee were treated ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 8. Why Is The Great Gatsby Great Have you ever done something to others which make them think that your great after doing something above average? Gatsby has been called great for showing his love to one person which is more than a regular person could ever show. He might be great to Daisy or Nick, but is he great in the eyes of Tom, or Meyer Wolfsheim. Greatness is a universal thing, everyone is great, maybe to their friend, loved ones, but what about the other people in the world. Greatness is not a real thing but it lies before the person s opinions.. Nick and Daisy both see the truth of who Gatsby is, so to them Gatsby is known as The Great Gatsby. Even after Gatsby to war, and when Daisy got married to Tom he still thought about her, cared for her, he watched over her and waited for her. Gatsby s love is the only thing that makes him great, because not many are that dedicated to one person even after they get married. Gatsby s love is like the Great Houdini s magic, it surprises people, it makes them believe even if its on the impossible. But there s a twist because he s great, but only in love there s nothing else great about him or what we know of, so does this actually make Gatsby great, or does it make him just a normal figure in everybody s eyes. Houdini was great, people loved his magic trick, but he was only great in magic, nothing else.Or is Gatsby just great to some, like Houdini being great to his fans but not his family since he always scared them with his magic tricks. • 10. Floods In New Orleans History will affirm that from the beginning of the settlement of New Orleans in 1717, it was then and continues to be a location destined to periodic flooding caused by the Mississippi river and rising storms. Throughout time, New Orleans would challenge nature by primarily fortifying the river s natural levees to periodically engineering levees to combat issues of flooding, only to return to reinforcing or rebuilding according to damages inflicted as time progressed. Each attempt to fight nature from overwhelming New Orleans kept setting engineers back. According to the select committee report it states that, it remains difficult to understand how government could respond so ineffectively to a disaster that was anticipated for years, and for which specific dire warnings had been issued for days. • 11. Controversy Regarding The Human Rights Act 1998 (HRA) I knew of some controversy regarding the Human Rights Act 1998 (HRA), mostly in relation to judge s role and the issues with judicial review. I think its poor reputation is interesting, when considering the nature of the European Convention on Human Rights 1950 (ECHR). The convention had British influences and drafters. We discussed how this reputation is in part based on the general misinformation and lack of knowledge. I recognise the HRA s limitations and the issues it raises regarding parliamentary sovereignty. However, I learnt during our session that before the HRA the UK relied on whatever was not prohibited was allowed . This resulted in rights being abused and it was thereby necessary to incorporate them into domestic law to avoid ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... No one is saying these rights are unimportant, the real issue lies with the wording and how they are enforced. The idea of repealing the HRA, has been discussed since it was created. It is not just about repealing the act, but also to replace it with a British Bill of Rights (BBR). Thereby, on the face of it, there is no attempt to exclude or limit any of the human rights. The main arguments for this, is based on the perception that it is a foreign concept, with a foreign court making decisions over the British people. It seems this is mainly a product of misinformation. There is, however, a potential issue with the current balancing of rights and public security or even common sense. Back in 2000 there was a controversial case of afghan residents hijacking a plane. They eventually had their convictions quashed, as it would have infringed their human rights. This is an older case, but it still brings up a valid point when questioning the balance of rights and public security. I understand the need to talk about and possibly rectify this imbalance, as no one should benefit from crime. However, whether this requires repealing the HRA or just adding directions is ... • 12. The Archetype Of Metamorphosis In Tim Burton s Big Fish In Tim Burton s Big Fish , there is a recurring archetype of metamorphosis. It demonstrates transitions from innocence to experience, from the Iron Age to the Golden Age; and from season to season. Each shift plays a big part in the overall development of the film, as well as adding to several characters dimensions. The shift from innocence to experience is demonstrated throughout William s personal growth surrounding his father s stories. His perspective on them shifts dramatically as he searches for their truths. In the beginning, he innocently assumes that they are nothing but lies. As his search continues, and his experience grows, he discovered that there is a basis of truth in every story. This is significant as it changes his perspective on his father. For years, he had foolishly believed that there was absolutely no truth, to the point where it caused tension between them. The change in ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... In his stories, everything that seemed bad or evil at the time, lead to something good. His path through the dark woods nearly killed him, yet brought him to Spector, a town of great influence. However, the small facts he did learnt eventually helped him win her over in the end. These changes were what allowed Edward to be so successful in all his endeavours. His life as a whole also went through all the seasons. His happy childhood represented spring. His adulthood became summer, as all his accomplishments were realised. Autumn started after his fight with William, and finally winter came with his death. The change in season through his life gave Edward a full life. • 13. Summary Of The Overcoat By Nikolai Gogol In a time of large, corrupt, and ineffective bureaucracy, Nikolai Gogol looks provide a humorous perspective on life in Tsarist Russia. Through both The Nose and The Overcoat, Gogol reveals his true nature as a comical humorist with the intention of giving readers a laugh but also of mocking human vanity. From the very beginning of The Overcoat, it becomes clear the story has a comedic nature. While explaining to the reader the touchiness of departments in Russia, Gogol gives the district police chief as an example: He plainly demonstrated that all the imperial institutions were going to the dogs, and that the Czar s sacred name was being taken in vain; and in proof he appended to the complain a romance, in which the district chief of police is made to appear about once in every ten pages, and sometimes in a downright drunken condition (Gogol 1). The scenario Gogol describes is one of absurdity. How could someone get so worked up over a book that has no intent of offending them? No normal person would ever become so hysterical over a piece of literature that indirectly offends them. Claiming that the whole political system of Russia is being destroyed and that royalty had been disgraced because of a simple character in a book that resembles oneself is preposterous. To a rational mind, the police chief s over emotional reaction is clearly insane, as a normal person does not have the narcissism to take minute details personally. This laughable situation ... • 15. What Happens To A Dream Deferred By Langston Hughes Langston Hughes starts his poem out with one question. What happens to a dream deferred? (1) With that one question Hughes begins to convey the story of how people in Harlem began to put their dreams on hold. Hughes uses very specific imagery in this poem to ignite the reader s imagination. By using this imagery the reader can really start to understand the message he is trying to convey. The message of how dreams, if put on hold, may dry up or even explode. Just for a moment if the reader pays attention to the imagery they can really feel, smell, and almost touch the dream deferred that Hughes speaks of. So what really happens to a dream deferred? Hughes asks Does it dry up/ like a raisin in the Sun? (1 2) He is comparing the dream to a fresh grape that has been left out in the sun and dried up. The effect is enormous for the reader. The comparison really makes you sense the dream drying up and going away forever. Imagine comparing a dream deferred to a festering sore. Hughes does with Or fester like a sore / And then run? (3 4) We have all had a bad sore, maybe on our knee or finger, and just imagine putting peroxide on that sore and it bubbles up! • 19. Frank Durrenmatt Allusion The play The Visit, written by Friedrich Dürrenmatt, is set in the impoverished German town of Güllen post World War Ⅱ in the 1950 s. The play begins with the wealthy and powerful Claire Zachanassian returning to her hometown with the plan to donate a million dollars in exchange for the life of the man who wronged and jilted her in her youth, Alfred Ill. While the impoverished town at first refuses her offer, they eventually give into their need for money and execute Ill. Throughout the play, the author uses the characterizations of Claire to construct an allusion to the three fates from Greek mythology. The Greek fates are influential, immortal women who are in charge of controlling the lives and deaths of mortals, symbolized by a string. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... There are many characterizations that Durrenmatt uses to construct the allusion including Claire s physical characteristics along with ones that correlate individually with each of the fates. Dürrenmatt alludes to these beings through Claire to compare and to contrast the beings. The fates are greatly powerful beings who are in a position within greek mythology to impose justice upon those who seek fit. By alluding them to Claire, Dürrenmatt is using their characteristics and capabilities to further characterize that Claire is as powerful as the fates and is also capable of imposing justice upon other humans. While the allusion shows that the two beings are alike in that they both have power over justice, it also highlights how the Claire and the fates both use their power differently. The fates use their power to control human lives because it is their duty with greek mythology and they do so in a just, unbiased manner. This is greatly contrasting to Claire who imposes her power over justice upon anyone who she deems fit based on her own unjust biases. Dürrenmatt uses this theme of unjust power to support the social commentary within his play about how although people of power and authority are generally seen as more just, this is not always true. This social commentary is used as a reflection upon the era of Dürrenmatt s youth, of which was greatly centered around World War Ⅱ. During World War Ⅱ there were many authoritative figures that were not seen as just in their actions but because of the position of power they obtained they were able to impose their justice upon others. Dürrenmatt greatly disagreed with these figures and saw them to be unjust and only harmful because of their power which is scene through Claire in the play who is able to buy off whatever justice she wants because she is so powerful. ... • 20. Pros And Cons Of Prostitution The prostitution debate in American culture has continued for decades without a response from the federal government. Some states have drafted initiatives legalizing prostitution to an extent, such as Nevada, where it is partially decriminalized, and most recently California. Over the course of global history, many nations have long stood with women in the fight to legalize prostitution. Yet, to distinguish itself from other nations at the time of its independence, America outlawed prostitution to preserve Judeo Christian values. Prostitution poses no health risk to the public at large, and furthermore, prostitution without regulation often comes with crime, abuse, etc. The federal government should sponsor health care and security measures for sex workers, as it is their right as free Americans to pursue work without fear of rape or death. In 1875, U.S. Congress passed the Page act, which outlawed the importation of women for the sex trade. (Weitzer, 75) At first glance, this seems like an ethical measure with the end goal of protesting an illegal and unethical sex trade. However, this was not accomplished, as it instead simply contributed to harsher, more dangerous climates for sex workers being imported illegally to the country. (Weitzer, 76) Despite the frightening conditions of the sex trade, prostitution in the West became a lofty ideal for women from underdeveloped countries, who pursued jobs in America despite low pay and low prestige. Instead we continuously reference a site that claims to have all the answers. In Nicholas Carr`s passage, Is Google Making Us Stupid? he goes in depth to explain the effects of relying on technology. Through a well thought out and dominating ethos and logos argument he finds ways to warn the public of the coming doom of the dependencies on technology, with a less dominating pathos argument he makes the audience think deeper and fear the changes in our minds, as well as using slippery slope fallacies to push his opinions. Death is inevitable. Likewise, although a diminutive moth may appear to be insignificant and pathetic, it can symbolize the true connections between the duality of life and death and human beings. For instance, Annie Dillard and Virginia Woolf illustrate similar, universal messages about the value of life through the metaphor of a moth. However, the manner in which they portray their themes and purpose varies, for their personal experiences and writing styles influence their perspectives of life and death. Abstract This report is aimed to describe how we will use Python to build an application to price risky bond and the European options of the bond in stochastic hazard rate and interest rate models. We are going to simulate the path of interest rate using CIR model and simulate the path of hazard rate using Vasicek model. Then we will get the survival function from simulated hazard rate and get the bond price from it. Lastly we will price the European options of the risky bond based on the simulated bond price by using both closed form formula (Jamshidian, F. (1989)) and Monte Carlo simulation. 2. Perception of threats is crucial since threats generate the functions of the two most important actors of the security system the police and the armed forces. Armed forces exist to defend the state against real or potential external threats and as a coercive tool to promote and protect national interests abroad (Edmonds, 2006). The core organizing principle for regular armed forces in a traditional way is the defence of the national territory (Dandeker, 1994; Grizold, 1999). Therefore, their traditional function is also deterrence and military attack. Having in mind Bittner s (1970) definition of the police, which defines the police in terms of their capacity to use non negotiable coercive force in any situation that appears to require the prompt and decisive response, the policing is carried out by several other organisations (constabulary forces), including military (Whetstone, Walsh, Kelling, Parker Banton, Brodeur, 2016). Enloe (1990) dealt with the differences between the traditional characteristics of the police and the armed forces. In this book, Lawrence employs symbols in order to the help the reader understand the innermost feelings of each of the characters, as well as to describe their main personality traits. In first place, the use of flowers as a symbol of happiness is crucial for the understanding of Mrs Gertrude Morel´s feelings. As she was unhappy and disappointed of the life she had, Mrs Morel tried to find the peace and joy she needed by beholding flowers. This is portrayed in: The front garden was a small square with a private hedge. There she stood trying to soothe herself with the scent of flowers and the fading, beautiful evening (Lawrence, D.H. They are forced not only to live with the thought of their deceased loved one, but also to constantly confront the thought that the person who caused their pain is still alive. Olga Polites, a New Jersey teacher, was strictly opposed to the death penalty until her husband s cousin was murdered. Her anger caused her to change her views entirely (23 25). She, like others who support capital punishment, believes that revenge is the panacea for her pain. Outside factors such as social pressures cause Esther s descent into madness. Societal pressures to get married and be pure expedite Esther s descent into madness. The stages of this are specified at first as Esther saying she feels I just bumped from my hotel to work and to parties and from parties to my hotel and back to work like a numb trolleybus. Throughout the novel, the rain is consistently brought up when Catherine reveals All right. I m afraid of the rain because sometimes I see me dead in it, (Hemingway 126). The rain is not only foreshadowing, yet it is a metaphor to death. For example, when Aymo, Tenente, Piani, Bonello, and Frederic were on a road that led to a river (Hemingway 209) , when it began to rain again. Which led to a shooting between Germans (supposedly) and the men. The constant repetition of rain when death is present shows the metaphor that rain itself brings to the book. When rain comes, death follows. The novel ends with Frederic leaving the hospital after Catherine has died, it begins to rain. Since rain is shown at the end, maybe the author is leaving the reader of the thought of Frederic going downhill in the future. The presence of rain equates to the presence of death. This use of rain as a metaphor for death shows Hemingway s attitude through the relationship between Frederic and Catherine. Rain is temporary, it comes when a cloud overflows with moisture and disappears when the sun shines brightly, as goes the relationship between the two. • 37. A Study on California s Smoking Ban California s Smoking Ban (APA Citation) It was in 1964 that the Surgeon General of the United States first published a report on the ill effects of smoking cigarettes, and within a year the first law requiring health warnings on cigarette packages was in effect. From that point, the government has slowly, but continually, imposed more and more restrictions on the use of tobacco products. Throughout the 1960s, 70 s, 80 s, and 90 s, the both individual jurisdictions within the State of California, as well as the entire state, continued to impose tougher and tougher restrictions on smoking cigarettes until 1994, when California became the first state in the union to pass a law which completely prohibited smoking in most enclosed workplaces. ( Secondhand Smoke Exposure ) This law, which took effect in 1998, restricted smoking in all enclosed places of employment including offices, factories, bars and restaurants. But by the early 21st century, the current restrictions were not enough for California s lawmakers and a push was started to ban smoking in all public places. Since the passage of these restrictions in the 1990 s, there has been a great deal of change in the state with advocates of the smoking ban pointing to the increased health benefits for the citizens of the state, while opponents focus on the economic damaged in the business community caused by the restrictions. It is therefore necessary to examine the State of California and its ban on smoking and how it has ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Quine ranges from different aspect, from evidence to reference, in his quest to gain epistemological truth from science. This is a short summary of the book s contents then the latter half of the paper is critique and review of the book and Quine s points within. In the first chapter Quine, deals with the evidence and all things pertaining to it. He starts the chapter with the point that evidence is based on sensory experience and that this combined with past experiences can predict evidence of new things based on past experience, much like memory. He then talks about what he calls observation sentences, this is the statement of evidence itself. Next, Quine gets into how his definition of observation sentences is different than that of others who have defined it. This is really big to Quine and it sets up a lot of what he works with. Quine then discuss observation categoricals, which he says are test in pairs of observation. Next in the chapter is holism, which is the theory that parts of a whole are in interconnection, such that they can t be understood without reference to the whole, which is then regarded as greater than the sum of its parts. Quine then ends his firster chapter with the talk of empirical content and norms and aims. Quine, in the section of norms and aims, discusses the relationship between naturalized epistemology and traditional epistemology. Quine s ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Akhilleus was born by the goddess, Thetis, daughter to Poseidon and to the human, Peleus. His position is as commander of the entire Greek army. At the start of this war, between the Akhaians and the Trojians, there was a falling out between him and the Greek king, Agamemnon. In short, he ended up packing his bags and leaving the army without a commander. Pride was the cause of this whole quarrel. This pride of his was the center of many improprieties during the war. A feeling that you respect yourself and deserve to be respected by other people (definition of pride) This first example may have occurred near the end of the book, but it is going to be used first. Akhilleus pride was the direct cause for the need to withhold and torture Hektor s body after he killed him. (The Iliad, 22.410 421, 24.14 27) This event caused him to act inhumanely, no matter the reason. This action also prevented Hektor s family from having a proper funeral. Said Akhilleus: Let it be so. This raises concern from the community on how much and should the law enforcement agencies have access to such information. Even though security and safety was the main goal for such response, limits should be considered on to what extent are they able to gather information on people. The cosmological elements of the Enuma Elish are secondary to the authorís effort to explain the supremacy of Marduk, to justify absolute oriental monarchy, and to defend Babylon as the axis mundi. This statement reflects the reality of the times. During the writing of the Enuma Elish the Old Babylonian Empire weilded supreme power in Mesopotamia. Moreover, the recognition Mardukís absolute rule is etiological in relation to the power of the Babylonian kings. According to Assyriologist Benjamin Foster, the Enuma Elish explains the evolution from early government by elders to absolute monarchy. As the battle between Marduk and Tiamat illustrates, Foster notes the catalyst for this change is portrayed as outside threat calling for a war leader. The leader demanded, as his terms for leadership, absolute obedience, even when the threat of war was removed (Foster, 9). Once the writer of the Enuma Elish set forth the supremacy of the Babylonian God and the precedent for earthly monarchy, he/she turned to the task of translating divine superiority to earthly. She stated how government created disgraceful laws as give man the power to chastise and imprison his wife, to take the wages which she earns, the property in which she inherits... • 51. Evolution Of Sexual And Sexual Selection This article focuses on the evolution of sexual differences in insects. Intense sexual selection due to competition for mates is the main driving force behind the evolution of such variations. Males produce smaller and more numerous gametes than females and often competition between males is greater than that between females. It is suggested by the authors that the material contribution by each of sexes to the next generation is what determines the reproductive rate of the population. In an instances where one sex contributes more to the reproduction and survival of the offspring than the other this sex will become the limiting factor for sexual selection, and will be subject to greater loss of fitness if an importer mate choice is made. In terms of contribution to offspring both male and female can provide care in various ways. The relative investment of each sex will determine the degree to which the one sex competes for the opposite one. The observed sexual differences proved a clue about the intensity of sexual selection in particular species. Usually females contribute more to the offspring care and are the limiting factor for sexual selection, as a result males exhibit more variations in secondary sexual characteristics in terms of morphology and behavior. In species that male provide more care the roles are reversed. Though direct care is not common in insects the males might contribute indirectly by protecting the female after mating as observed in several ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
