The Story of Maurice White and Earth Wind and Fire
The reason I decided to prepared my paper on Maurice White, the founder of Earth Wind and Fire is
because of the fond memories that I have listening to my parents music. Music from the parents era is
very different from the music of today. Music from that era was more love oriented, rhythmic and rich
in science of music and musical arrangements. Artists my parents are fond of consists of music from
such groups as the Four Tops, the Dells, the Dramatics, Harold Melvin and the Blue Notes, the Chi
Lites and Stylistics. They also list Junior Walker and the All stars, Al Jaureau, and Ronnie Laws,
among others, as jazz groups. However, Earth Wind and Fire s sound is unique and quite different
from all other groups of that era.

In 1973, the band recorded Head to the Sky. With the album came more personnel changes with
Ronnie Laws and Roland Bautista s departure and Johnnie Graham and Andrew Woolfolk s arrival.
Two hits emerged from this album Evil and Keep Your Head to the Sky.
I wanted our music to convey messages of universal love and harmony without force feeding listeners
spiritual content.
I have decided to
None of this was planned. The universe played a part in the whole thing, obviously. We just took our
cues from the universe and kept moving on.
The album was a success and the band began touring. In 1973, the band recorded Head to the Sky.
With the album came more personnel changes with Ronnie Laws and Roland Bautista s departure and
Johnnie Graham and Andrew Woolfolk s arrival. Two hits emerged from this album Evil and Keep

Open Our Eyes became EWF s first platinum album. The message in the music was clearly a
reflection of Maurice White s vision for the group. Maurice states, From the very start, I had a
commitment to be different in terms of music and what was projected on stage. Coming out of a
period of social confusion in the seventies, I wanted Earth, Wind Fire to reflect the growing search for
greater self understanding, greater freedom from restrictions we placed on ourselves in terms of
individual potential.

In self reflection, I realized that I felt compelled to fill in the gaps in between shared statements. In
part, this is likely due to the fact that I find silence to be awkward and I fear that allowing for

review of the recording, I am more aware of becoming willing to consider moments of silence to

The Cost Of Health Insurance
In 2012, the United States of America (USA) spent more than 2.8 trillion United States dollars (US$)
i.e. more than 17% of its gross domestic product (GDP) and more than the entire GDP of the United
Kingdom and Great Britain and Northern Ireland on its health care system (Rice et al., 2014, page #).
This outrageous number in the quote shows to what extent the United States government is really
going to in order to provide coverage for its citizens. The cost of health is rising day by day, and the
current rate of health insurance is unable to really help those in need of it, such as the poor or less
fortunate. Therefore, in order to take preventive measures for people to treat their well being, health
insurance agencies should provide ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
With a simple yet effective insurance plan that covers basic support for these poor families, they can
work their way up to paying off the plan in a set number of years as becoming a client of a health
insurance agency. The United States government is basically throwing money away on trying to figure
out how to help everyone but not really implementing much. If affordable coverage could be provided
to all, including those with families, through a plan where citizens work and then receive insurance
based on their ethic and employment, this could possible help with not only health care problems but
unemployment as well.
Problems of Health and Cost to Cover the Problems Lots of health issues can be focused on here, but
there are some evident ones that show up in impoverished homes. These mainly include asthma,
obesity, diabetes, high/low blood pressure, an innumerable amount of cardiac conditions, and many
mental illnesses as well. The numbers of diseases are increasing day by day and now more than ever
before showing up with HIV, AIDS, and parasitic problems too. In reality, and in the eyes of the poor
their problems are denied and so is their proper care, because of the lack of money and care they are
provided. The poor must compensate by overlooking agencies because of all the restrictions that they
fit under. As stated in Health Services Research (2014), The exclusion of a substantial proportion

Neoconservatism In The United Sate
Together with understanding the beliefs of neoconservatism and the importance, the attractiveness
presents itself. With the disorder that can come from liberalism, conservatism proves to be a more
secure, orderly option. A mother with children would no longer have to worry about the barrage of
obscenity. In order for people to live in healthy society, while cultivating happiness, consideration is
key. By human nature, stepping on the toes of others is a popular outcome. With order being provided
by neoconservatism, the possibility of widespread would be a higher probability.
Neoconservatism doesn t make its name by radical force, but a more middle of the road option.
Neoconservatism is only interested in providing what is best for society. In the bounds of the United
Sates, the objective is not to eliminate individual freedom, but to limit it. These limitations are healthy
medium for those concerned with individual freedom and order. Equally important is that it provides a
middle ground for those who are sided with individual and classical conservatism. There is a
substantial distrust of the government while maintaining a care for the fabric of society. In like
manner, the common good can be lost when individual freedom is left to run rampant, and
neoconservatism works to maintain it. Each person living in society should be pleased on reasonable
scale. That s not to say that everyone should get what they want, but there should be a shared
satisfaction. One of the most important goals in neoconservatism is to look after other people.
Neoconservatism is especially attractive for those who feel modern liberalism is steering the country
into a hole. Those who feel forgotten and not cared about are likely to find a home in a
neoconservative driven society.
Predicted Outcome A world dominated by neoconservatism would be drastically different than what
can be seen today. Today, the United States prides itself on the progression of its democratic system
and inclusion of all citizens. Outcomes of such emphasis on progression and inclusion include
programs put into place to support citizens. Some of these programs include welfare and social
security. Topics along the lines of protest, and other policy are also

The Ticonderoga Class Guided Missile Cruiser
The Ticonderoga class guided missile cruiser is a large and powerful surface combatant in the United
States Navy. The cruiser has the ability to engage short range air, undersea and surface targets, as well
as a long range strike capability. With around 300 crew and 30 officers (Navy 4), this billion dollar
warship (Navy 4) can serve in many roles when it comes to the mission of the United States Navy. The
Ticonderoga class cruisers primary mission is to provide anti air and long range combat capabilities.
The advanced Aegis combat system, coupled with the Tomahawk missile, gives the cruiser a much
longer range than most other ships in the Navy. The cruiser was initially slated as a DDG (Polmar 4);
however, with the addition of the AEGIS, the USS Ticonderoga (CG 47) was designated a CG on
January 1, 1980 (FAS 5). Not long after, the keel was laid on January 27, 1980 (FAS 5) and the project
went into full effect. The USS Ticonderoga served all over the world fighting in places such as the
Persian Gulf, the Mediterranean, Operation Desert Shield and many others. The USS Ticonderoga was
the first ship to be deployed with the AEGIS weapons system, the most sophisticated air defense
system in the world. The first 5 Ticonderoga class cruisers were built with Mark 26 twin arm
launchers that did not have the ability to launch Tomahawk missiles. In response to this outdated
system and older version of the AEGIS weapons system, all 5 of the original cruisers have since

Introduction
The Smartphone market is emerging and growing. This is a well known fact. However, this report
primarily focuses upon what goes on behind the scenes in producing a Smartphone that is at par with
the customers needs. The Smartphone market moved from producing sets with an alphanumeric
keyboard to a qwerty keyboard, to a touch screen, to intelligent voice commands, to biometric
securities, etc. Nevertheless, the diversity in needs of the consumer, increasing demand levels, the
Smartphone industry hasn t ceased to grow.
The conventional product strategies which used to focus upon costs, differentiation, and customer and
technology orientations doesn t seem to fulfill the ever growing need of better technology. The
Smartphone market is more focused on innovation and product development rather than the

The Amazing Development Of Communication Tools Essay
It is such a magic. I cannot believe I am talking with you between Japan and the US. My grandmother
said to me when we talked on Skype. Her saying made me realize the marvelous development of
communication tools. As she said, the current technology which is supporting our communication is
developing in unbelievable speed. Besides, such development is supporting a development of the other
fields. We can have a business meeting via video call such a Skype. We can learn new languages by
chatting with native speakers. Communication and technologies for communication are foundations
for everything. However, are we optimizing such wonderful equipment or services? We are not
properly using such tools because we sometimes are not being able to correctly behave in our
diversified communications. In the primitive era, our ancestors only can communicate in a face using
words from their mouth. After then, they have got the letters, phone, the internet, and so on in order to
communicate with others who were in far away. In my grandmother s generation, they sent a letter to a
person. Sometimes, letters were not delivered. Comparing that, nowadays, we can talk in a video call.
We can feel the others real feeling, tone, face expression, body languages, and everything. Those
developments of communication tools are apparently transcending traditional common sense that we
were familiar with. This must be like a magic. However, recent communications differ than before. I

The wild Palms If Forget Thee, Jerusalem by...
If a story is in you, it has to come out (William Faulkner, The wild Palms [if I forget thee, Jerusalem]).
An American writer in American and southern literature, Faulkner was a spellbinding author known
for experimental style with perfect attention to usage and rhythm. Faulkner s works were highly
influenced by own personal interest, history and personal outlook on faith. Being intensely rooted in
the old America, the America in which was molded by the First World War.

The interest that dealt with violence is portrayed through the novels Sanctuary and Requiem For A
Nun. Both related by its violence, in Requiem For A Nun a complete act of violence takes form other
than in the Sanctuary it is meant for a provoking shocking response, both violence is stressed not
through sensation but because it has opposite modes of response. In both novels acts of murder is
portrayed through events of adventure, crime and punishment, linked with social and moral legal
aspects. Faulkner expressed the love of mysterious murder through a short story, A Rose For Emily.
The grim protagonist struggles to keep tradition in the change from the old to the new South. The
dusty life of Emily s holds murder, odd acts, and suicide, which realizes a mysterious curiosity to the
reader. As a traditional moralist Faulkner s one principle is engraved together in all thirteen book, the
significance that belongs to great myths.
That principle is the southern social ethical tradition which Faulkner possesses effortlessly. Being a
traditional man with modern south soaked in, it is not strange that the worlds created through the
novels are specifically a series or related myths build around the conflict of either traditionalism and
the modern world. To illustrate further The unvanquished is a novel which two sides of conflicts are

How Did John Lennon Impact Society
Music has a unique way of impacting our lives. It often makes us wonder what inspired the artist to
say what he or she said and why they chose to put it together that way. Certain artists are capable of
leaving a lasting legacy that people pass on from generation to generation. It is easier for one to
become influenced by an artist s work if they are exposed to it at a younger age. More often than not,
people will gravitate towards a certain artist because they can find a way to connect with the writer.
The ability to decipher, process and think deeply about an artists lyrics in order to find the meaning
behind them is key to unlocking the impactfulness of the song. Although not considered a traditional
Beatles song, John Lennon is well known for his song Imagine and the impact it had on society. LIFE
OF LENNON Lennon was born in Liverpool, England on October 9, 1940 to parents Fred and Julia.
After his mother died when he was 17 years old, John started a band named The Quarrymen. With a
few additions to the group, they eventually were known as The Beatles. Although graced with
numerous Number One hits, they ended up splitting in 1970 (Laurie Ulster). This was the start of John
Lennon s solo career. He and his wife, Yoko Ono, were most productive in 1917 ... Show more content

of a world without war and hate for generations of people. By using simplicity, he managed to create a

Hitler s The Hiding Place
During World War II, the world was in panic. The people lived in terror for their family, friends, and
themselves. No one was ever truly safe. Not the soldiers, not the citizens, not anyone. Leaders around
the globe tried to calm their frightened countries, but as Casper ten Boom in Corrie ten Boom s The
Hiding Place tells us: It is wrong to give people hope when there is no hope. It is wrong to base faith
off of wishes. There will be war. And was he ever right.
On September 1, 1939, Adolf Hitler and his army of Nazis attacked Poland, marking the first day of
six years of war, fear, and suffering. Hitler had long since came to power in Germany. After World
War I, Germany was stripped of many things; money, cultural worth, dignity and power. The Germans
needed a place to look to for help; they needed a promising future, and Adolf Hitler promised them
just that. Blaming the Jewish religion, Hitler began to rise from the masses of Germans. He convinced
Germany that the Jews were untermenschen , of what roughly translates to in English as subhuman or
less of a human. So eager for hope of a better way of life, the rest of Germany trusted and gave him
the power he needed to carry out multiple acts of destruction.
In 1933, the newly elected Chancellor of Germany, Adolf Hitler opened the first of numerous
concentration camps, the Nazi Party boycotted Jewish shops and businesses, burned books that have
been deemed disreputable , and also, Germany quits the League of

Innocence In Poem
Once you start asking questions innocence is lost Mary Astor What is innocence? How is it lost?
There are many cases in which innocence can be lost , some of which are portrayed in the two poems.
Innocence is when you are pure, clean and vain. This is due to the fact that you haven t experienced
any corruptions which would give you spiritual wisdom that is useful in decision making in future
situations. These poems , Out Out and Disabled, both portray the loss of innocence Today I will be
comparing and contrasting the loss of innocence between these poems , in addition to this I will also

how serene and happy the setting was. This quote however directly contrasts line 4 in stanza one

The Age Of Exploration By Christopher Columbus
The fifteenth to seventeenth century is known as the Age of Exploration . Europe began to colonize
the countries they had discovered . A major part of the world that they colonized was Latin America.
Spain was the first to colonize, and the United States started to take interest in Latin America towards
the 19th century. Europe and The United States both took interest in Latin America, but for different
reasons.
Spain was the first European nation to colonize Latin America, beginning with Christopher Columbus
voyage in 1492. Columbus conquered Hispaniola, an island in the Caribbean Sea. A few decades later,
Spain sent Hernando Cortez to conquer the Aztec Empire in 1519. In 1535, the Spanish moved deeper
into South America and conquered the Incan Empire with the help of Francisco Pizarro.
When Europeans explored the world during the Age of Exploration , they colonized areas for a
number of reasons. One reason was to spread Christianity. The Spaniards believed it was their God
given duty to convert people to Christianity. A second reason was to acquire wealth through trade and
exploitation of other countries peoples and natural resources. Colonizing and acquiring the land in
Latin America also led to an increase in geopolitical power over other European countries.
The United States took interest in Latin America for economic and political reasons. The banana
appears to be a distinct reason as to why the United States went over to Latin America according to

Batman s Costumes Are Important In The Representation Of...
Though I am inclined to agree that the practicality of costumes is not necessarily there in regards to
most superheroes, I believe these features are iconic in the representation of superheroes. The change
of costume is vital in giving the wearer the psychological advantage of feeling like a different person
in their costume than in their civilian clothes (Brownie and Graydon 13). However, these costumes in
a realistic setting suddenly become impractical, constricting movement or even vision for costumes
such as Batman s. Especially in regards to actual combat, I doubt any superhero s costume would be
protective, but rather the costume itself becomes a performance. In this case, I believe that
superheroes need their costumes in order to truly

It can be seen that enzymes are basically proteins with large molecules.. An enzyme is made up of
long natural chains of amino acids linked together by peptide bonds, so it chemically contains carbon,
hydrogen, oxygen, nitrogen, and some sulfur. The proteins are tertiary in which they fold up to give
the enzyme its active site. The initial level of the enzyme involves the sequence of amino acids. Every
amino acid has an amino group, a carboxyl group, a hydrogen group, and an R group that can be
different with each amino cell all connecting to the alpha carbon. Based on what the R group is, it can

Mountain Mountains On The Planet
Mountain climbing in Alaska When I hear a person talk about the great state of Alaska, I wonder what
he or she would say about it. Is it the endless mountain ranges covered with snow, or could it be the
frigid temperatures? The state of Alaska has mountains as far as the eye can see. If you have ever
climbed to the top of a mountain, you know how exciting it can be once you have reached the top.
Especially, when it is your first experience climbing the face of any mountain and you do not know
what to expect. As a child, my memory recalls the first time I was pretending to scale towering
mountain sides to impress my friends and family. When we are children, the world appears a lot larger,
and the mountain tops in my back yard in southern California seemed colossal to me. Playing in the
foothills, I would try to imagine myself scaling one of the greatest mountains on the planet. Nearly
twenty five years have come to pass, and I still seek mountain ranges to explore. I have always
enjoyed the outdoors, rather than being indoors all the time. Mountain climbing is rewarding and
exhausting simultaneously. I like to find new places out in the wilderness. One of my favorite
moments is when I find a waterfall; something about the sounds of flowing water soothes my soul. At
the beginning of 2010, I received a call from the engineering firm I worked for; they informed me of a
unique project for the oil and gas industry located near Fairbanks, Alaska. I gladly accepted the

Disadvantages Of Situational Syllabus
1. INTRODUCTION
A syllabus can be defined as the specification of aims and the selection and grading of content to be
used as a basis for planning foreign language (Newby, 2000, p.590). Therefore, an annual syllabus is
considered to be the document which compiles all the information necessary to carry out the important
task of teaching. There are different kinds of syllabus and in this aspect it would be a mistake not to
mention the pioneering work of Wilkins (1976). This author distinguishes between situational
syllabuses and notional syllabuses. The first one appears in a reaction against grammatical syllabuses
which did not take learners situational needs into account (Wilkins, 1976, p.16). As Wilkins (1976,
p.16) points out, we need the language so that we can use it in the situations that we encounter .
Therefore, situational syllabuses compile a series of learning units with a wide diversity of situations
in which learners learn to use the language. On the contrary, notional syllabuses take the desired
communicative capacity as the starting point (Wilkins, 1976, p.18). According to this scholar, the
advantage of the notional syllabus is that it does not only take into account grammatical and
situational factors but also the communicative ones (Wilkins, 1976, p.19). In this light, Melrose (1991,
p.5) affirms that in a notional syllabus
it is assumed that speakers will need to express three ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

Public Education System For Education
It is every child s right to have access to a public education system that will provide quality education
for success in life. Yet far today far too many children, especially those from poor and minority
families, are limited to at risk by school systems with a lower quality of education while students in a
low poverty community receive a higher quality of education. It is frustrating that even when socio
economic statuses are rapidly merging and changing that an educational achievement gap still exists
between low income minority students in inner city schools and their white higher income
counterparts who live in the suburbs. Educators, policymakers, and researchers all attest to the fact
that a large number of schools, particularly in ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
There is a very strong correlation between race and poverty. There have been many studies that have
explored the relationship between poverty and quality implementation. A principal that participated in
a study summed up the effects of poverty eloquently stated, The students don t have school supplies.
Some don t have clothing appropriate for the weather. Some don t have a place in their home that s
well lit. Very few have their very own books. When it rains, if their sneakers get wet, they don t have
another pair of shoes to wear to school the next day. Poverty is the pits, I mean, it s terrible (Cooper,
1998).
In past studies the responses from teachers, principals, and district personnel in interviews, however,
produced unanticipated findings regarding the relationship of poverty and quality implementation. The
data suggest that regardless of the additional social and cultural barriers that high poverty schools
encounter in implementing school wide reform, school poverty level does not appear to obstruct the
application method. Although high levels of poverty do create exclusive challenges to the effective
replication and scaling up of programs in areas such as parental involvement, student mobility,
attendance rates, quality of instruction, and basic implementing the program (Cooper, 1998).
In high poverty schools, the challenges that many students face are not always

Analysis Of Let It Snow By David Sedaris
In the short essay Let it Snow , David Sedaris recounts his 5th grade adventures during a week of five
consecutive snow days in North Carolina. The author shows how alcoholism affected his family and
explain that managed to explain that a life of a family can also be positive. Many interesting points
were brought up concerning raising children. Sedaris s article fulfills the destinies intended for us,
which will give our lives full meaning and how we children will end up with all sorts of problems.
Our presents had disrupted the secret life she led while we were at school, and when she could no
longer take it she threw us out (Quoted in Sedaris, 11). His mother s extreme frustration of him and his
sisters, the Sedaris clearly appeal to the reader s pathos. The author managed to relate to adults who
have been irritated with their children before, but he can also relate to anyone who has ever been a
child extremely excited by the idea of a snow day. Moreover, Sedaris work was a powerful example of
the anger, frustration, and the raw emotion is felt by most parents when school is canceled. Firstly,
David Sedaris essay, Let It Snow reflects Sedaris past. It took place on a single day in his childhood in
North Carolina where Sedaris and his siblings were home because the school was closed for few days
because of bad weather. Their mother s drinking problem affected the relationship that Sedaris mother
had with him and his sisters, which were the story is solely reflected on. In the story, the mother is
very strict sounding and harsh. Yelling Get the hell out of my house (Quoted in Sedaris 89) to the
children is supporting proof. She seemed to be an alcoholic who could not control her stress and
emotions. The mother is the main character in the story even though the story revolves around the
children and their father. However, the humor in the story was well settled that it turns a sad story into
a ridiculous one. Without the humor, the story would not have been effective because of the abuse that
was going on the story. For instance, the children being locked out in the cold weather is a form of
abuse. The children believed that their selfish mother wanted the house to themselves. They

How Does Upton Sinclair Use Ethos In The Jungle
In the the Jungle the author Upton Sinclair uses ethos, pathos and imagery to expose the meat packing

While it may not be necessary for a position as an aide in a daycare, it could get you a better salary in
that same position. While an aide may get minimum wage at the daycare, a certified nursing assistant
salary starts at about $9.00 per hour. The advantage of being a nursing assistant when doing child care
is the many skills you have been taught during your training. CPR is an important skill and is part of
the training. Certification can prove your ability for learning, your aptitude for stability and the talent
you have for making decisions. Nannies are in demand. More homes consist of two working parents.

Depersonalization In Frrantz Fanon s Black Skin, White Man
Frantz Fanon was one of the leading theorists of postcolonialism. His career as a psychiatrist gave him
a unique perspective and allowed him to focus on the identity formation of the colonized subject and
racial injustice. Fanon s insight and view of colonization helped to further explain course material. In
Fanon s famous work Black Skin, White Mask, it became obvious how prevalent and severe racism
was at that time (Julien). According to Fanon, it led to depersonalization which was so strong that
colored people ultimately had to wear a white mask in order to survive. I believe that it s very sad that
colored people weren t allowed to fully embrace who they were are and weren t able to live peacefully
with the whites. Nobody should have to pretend to be someone whom they aren t. In Frantz Fanon s
book titled The Wretched of the Earth, Frantz Fanon asserts that decolonization will always entail
violent armed struggles between the colonized and the colonists. He makes several main points to
substantiate such a bold and sweeping claim. Fanon states, At whatever level we study decolonization,
it is quite simply the substitution of one species of mankind by another. The substitution is absolute,
total, and seamless (Fanon 1). When colonization first begins in a certain region, fights soon break out
between the natives and the colonists in hopes to preserve their land and freedom. When the natives
lose, they then have to follow the colonist s rules and regulations

The Politics Of The United States
In the United States, elections can be the deciding factor in ones political career. In recent times,
congressional elections have not only become increasingly important, but also more expensive. The
expense is often considered a result of modern times, however it results in many people being unable
to run for a political position. This begs the question of who might be running for a political position if
the price wasn t so high, would it be a more common person who relates more to the people. Often
incumbents, those currently in office, are able to edge out competitors because of money. The price of
elections can also affect issues that are covered by politicians. While its not too hard to fill the
requirements for becoming a senator or representative, most people are unable to run for election due
to the financial burden. In current times this leads to politicians caring less about issues and more on
their image, money, and reelection. This is because money is related to power so the more money one
has, the more powerful one is, and this also relates to reelection and image. During the 2012
congressional election senators, on average, raised $10,476,451 and representative, on average, raised
$1,689,580 (Costa). These numbers are the reason why congress is referred to as the millionaires club,
over half of the Senate and nearly half of the House are considered millionaires (Condon). This
amount is not something and average citizen would be able to come up with, so

Essay On Power In Heart Of Darkness
The Fear of Being Powerless The bitterest contradiction and the deadliest conflicts of the world are
carried on in every individual breast capable of feeling and passion (Raskin 116). It is possible that
those with the best intentions can create some of the deadliest atrocities as passion can take control
over one s emotions. This emotional instability can be seen in Heart of Darkness as Joseph Conrad
illustrates how one s passion of saving others slowly turns into madness that causes hundreds of
fatalities. We wonder, what could cause a man, such as Kurtz, in Heart of Darkness, to enter another
country with the best intentions, to become so violent and be the reason behind thousands of brutal
and torturous killings without ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
As a result of this, Kurtz s biggest fear was being powerless to the natives, leading him to act in
inhumane ways as he did not want to become the inferior. This fear can be seen at the end when Kurtz
exclaims to exterminate all brutes since the natives were unable to change to what he wanted, instead
he was the one who became inferior. (Conrad 2009). The idea of the natives not viewing him powerful
enough to follow his orders enraged him so much he wanted them all dead even while he was dying.
This anger is expressed through why Conrad complex language and syntax for example, exterminate
rather just kill as it illustrates the hatred and frustration he has towards the natives since he has now
been a victim of his biggest fear. Conrad explains how we naturally fear being powerless considering
society has taught us that being powerless and vulnerable will not keep us alive. Additionally, no
matter what, we must stay true to ourselves and values. This is exactly what Kurtz did, he wanted to
maintain his unchecked power until he died, but rather this being his individual decision, and it was a
decision instilled in him that relates back to Conrad s proposition that our family creates a sense power
within us while we are young. We are all given a rank of superiority through

Analysis Of The Happy Garden Of Life
In his short story 2 B R 0 2 B, Kurt Vonnegut encapsulates a perfect society that defies the odds. One
in which old age is conquered, disease is unheard of, and death is a mountain that only volunteers
choose to climb. Though a perfect world seems favorable, the nature defying aspects of this society
come with a cost. The foundation of the this civilization is built on the ideal of population control; in
order for one life to enter the world, another life must be taken out through government regulated gas
chambers. Shortly after introducing the supposedly flawless nation, Vonnegut creates the centerpiece
of its ideals and foundation: a neat, painted mural titled The Happy Garden of Life . In 2 B R 0 2 B,
The Happy Garden of Life is used to symbolize a seemingly utopian nation, but as the vines of the
story disentangle, it becomes evident that the compositional elements of the painting reveal the
corruption lying within the society s foundation. By examining the details of the painted men and
women, alongside the recurring motifs of white, purple, and fruit, one can conclude Vonnegut uses the
mural to demonstrate the dystopia s desensitization to death. The first striking aspect about The Happy
Garden of Life is a mutual trait portrayed among the majority of the painted men and women. Though
not in the initial description, the figures are repeatedly referred to in the text as being blank, faceless
bodies. With the mural symbolizing the world as a whole, this element

Thomas Hobbes And State Of Nature
Thomas Hobbes an English philosopher best known for his works on the political philosophy and his

some fundamentals of European liberal thought , which was concerned with the rights of an

According to Harrington (2005) From the appearance of his great work of political philosophy

government, a philosopher whose politics are fitted only to promote tyranny . He has rarely been
considered as a thinker concerned with the preservation of liberty, but rather as one who is willing to
countenance the sacrifice of liberty in the cause of security .

William Butler Yeats The Second Coming
In William Butler Yeats The Second Coming, the poet makes phrases such as; the best lack of
conviction of stony sleep (19) and the falcon cannot hear the falconer (2). The phrases are useful in
suggesting various thematic concerns of the poem as well asserting separation of ideas and events that
occur during the time when Yeats is writing his work. Different interpretations of the stanzas may
bring a connection of the antagonism of people and events that Yeats foresees. For instance, the falcon
separates from the falconer, the lion having the head of a human being (sphinx) and things falling
apart indicate contradicting forces that work to build history at the time. The analysis of the poem is
on the basis of contradicting forces that separate modernity from the ancient world. Yeats introduces
the poem by referring to a falcon that flies away from the falconer who happens to release it.
Shockingly, the falcon cannot hear its master but it continues wheeling at far distance from the
falconer. The separation between the falcon and the falconer presents a metaphorical incidence that is
worth to interpret. For instance, it is possible that the disassociation represent the young ones, acting
as falcons, and separate themselves from the old order of the society. Notably, the modern children
may be adopting new societal principles different from the ones that their parents and grandparents
prescribe during the Yeats time. Such societal engagements may touch on music, new

Pilate s life as a whole may be a mystery to many, but as seen today there are historical writings that
help us understand who Pilate was. Also seen today was the rocky relationship between the Jews and
Pilate. This gives un an interesting insight into the crucifixion. We know Pilate tried to please the
Jews, and we know that the religious leaders were not fond of him. Next week we will take a look at

compare to Passover? Next week we will look into that, and I will show that Pilate s role is an
important one.

Disadvantages Of Commission Based Compensation
Scenario 1: Commission Based Compensation A commission based approach to employee
compensation has its pros and cons from the standpoint of the firm. Let us look at the advantages.
Reduces fixed costs: As mentioned in the Wall Street Letter (2003), one of the main advantages of a
commission based salary is that it helps to reduce fixed costs. Fixed costs cover the basic salaries of
the sales personnel while the variable costs cover the commission. With a commission based salary
structure, sales personnel will get a lower basic salary while more incentive is incorporated into their
commission structure. Thus this will reduce a firm s fixed costs significantly. Healthier cash flow:
Commission based compensation gives the firm a financial advantage such that it only pays the sales
personnel upon sales conversions (Kokemuller). That is, the firm ... Show more content on

This is mainly due to the diversification of the various markets, customers and channels. Hence it is a
challenge for a firm to implement its domestic processes across the global locations. In the decision of
whether to use expatriates, the firm has to consider the following: Financial costs: This is a key factor
and the firm has to be prepared for higher costs when expatriates are used. The relocation costs, the
expatriate package which includes the family members etc. Expertise required for the assignment: The
firm has to assess whether the expertise and skills required for the assignment can be filled up by a
local employee instead of expatriate. Cross cultural linguistic knowledge: This is always the top
challenge for the firm on expatriate assignment. There is the fear that the expatriate may not be able to
blend into a different culture as well as the need to speak the native language (Insiun, 2012). Scenario

Setting Analysis and Symbolism of Wuthering Heights by Emily Bronte
In Wuthering Heights, Emily Bronte uses the setting of the English Moors, a setting she is familiar
with, to place two manors, Wuthering Heights and Thrushcross Grange. The first symbolizes man s
dark side while the latter symbolizes an artificial utopia. This 19th century setting allows the reader to
see the destructive nature of love when one loves the wrong person. The manor Wuthering Heights is
described as dark and demonic. In the English moors, winter lasted three times as long as summer and
the Heights and the land adjacent to it can be compared to winter, while Thrushcross Grange can be
described as the summer. Bronte describes the Heights as a ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net

Her every need is taken care of. Later, when she is confronted by Heathcliff, she is reminded of
Wuthering Heights and begins to miss the place she once was so eager to leave. Catherine begins to
see the Grange as superficial and confining, and at first she is only annoyed by this, but eventually the
suffocating enclosure causes Catherine to lash out at her husband and all the Grange represents.
Catherine, aware of her incestuous attraction to Heathcliff, believes the Grange is destroying her, and
because of her disgust of the Grange and her sense of guilt, it does. In the process, Edgar too must
suffer Catherine s pain because of his love for her. While Wuthering Heights was a symbol of darkness
and winter, Thrushcross Grange could only be described as its opposite. Thrushcross Grange can be
seen as a happy place that is light and summery. Its inhabitants are blissful and naive. They did not
worry or have to fend for themselves because there is always money and servants to wait on them. The
inhabitants of the house are ignorant of the cruelties and injustices of the outside world. When
Isabella, Edgar s sister, marries Heathcliff and is taken to the Heights, she too learns these realities and
is destroyed by them. She is imprisoned in the Heights by her husband. Isabella writes Nelly and
describes her depression; You ll not be surprised Ellen, at my feeling

  • 2. The Story of Maurice White and Earth Wind and Fire The reason I decided to prepared my paper on Maurice White, the founder of Earth Wind and Fire is because of the fond memories that I have listening to my parents music. Music from the parents era is very different from the music of today. Music from that era was more love oriented, rhythmic and rich in science of music and musical arrangements. Artists my parents are fond of consists of music from such groups as the Four Tops, the Dells, the Dramatics, Harold Melvin and the Blue Notes, the Chi Lites and Stylistics. They also list Junior Walker and the All stars, Al Jaureau, and Ronnie Laws, among others, as jazz groups. However, Earth Wind and Fire s sound is unique and quite different from all other groups of that era. In the ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... In 1973, the band recorded Head to the Sky. Two hits emerged from this album Evil and Keep Your Head to the Sky. I wanted our music to convey messages of universal love and harmony without force feeding listeners spiritual content. I have decided to None of this was planned. The universe played a part in the whole thing, obviously. We just took our cues from the universe and kept moving on. The album was a success and the band began touring. In 1973, the band recorded Head to the Sky. With the album came more personnel changes with Ronnie Laws and Roland Bautista s departure and Johnnie Graham and Andrew Woolfolk s arrival. Two hits emerged from this album Evil and Keep Your Head to the Sky. Open Our Eyes became EWF s first platinum album. The message in the music was clearly a reflection of Maurice White s vision for the group. Maurice states, From the very start, I had a commitment to be different in terms of music and what was projected on stage. Coming out of a period of social confusion in the seventies, I wanted Earth, Wind Fire to reflect the growing search for greater self understanding, greater freedom from restrictions we placed on ourselves in terms of individual potential. The Cost Of Health Insurance In 2012, the United States of America (USA) spent more than 2.8 trillion United States dollars (US$) i.e. more than 17% of its gross domestic product (GDP) and more than the entire GDP of the United Kingdom and Great Britain and Northern Ireland on its health care system (Rice et al., 2014, page #). This outrageous number in the quote shows to what extent the United States government is really going to in order to provide coverage for its citizens. The cost of health is rising day by day, and the current rate of health insurance is unable to really help those in need of it, such as the poor or less fortunate. With a simple yet effective insurance plan that covers basic support for these poor families, they can work their way up to paying off the plan in a set number of years as becoming a client of a health insurance agency. The United States government is basically throwing money away on trying to figure out how to help everyone but not really implementing much. If affordable coverage could be provided to all, including those with families, through a plan where citizens work and then receive insurance based on their ethic and employment, this could possible help with not only health care problems but unemployment as well. Problems of Health and Cost to Cover the Problems Lots of health issues can be focused on here, but there are some evident ones that show up in impoverished homes. These mainly include asthma, obesity, diabetes, high/low blood pressure, an innumerable amount of cardiac conditions, and many mental illnesses as well. The numbers of diseases are increasing day by day and now more than ever before showing up with HIV, AIDS, and parasitic problems too. In reality, and in the eyes of the poor their problems are denied and so is their proper care, because of the lack of money and care they are provided. • 5. Neoconservatism In The United Sate Together with understanding the beliefs of neoconservatism and the importance, the attractiveness presents itself. With the disorder that can come from liberalism, conservatism proves to be a more secure, orderly option. A mother with children would no longer have to worry about the barrage of obscenity. In order for people to live in healthy society, while cultivating happiness, consideration is key. By human nature, stepping on the toes of others is a popular outcome. With order being provided by neoconservatism, the possibility of widespread would be a higher probability. Neoconservatism doesn t make its name by radical force, but a more middle of the road option. Neoconservatism is only interested in providing what is best for society. In the bounds of the United Sates, the objective is not to eliminate individual freedom, but to limit it. These limitations are healthy medium for those concerned with individual freedom and order. Equally important is that it provides a middle ground for those who are sided with individual and classical conservatism. There is a substantial distrust of the government while maintaining a care for the fabric of society. In like manner, the common good can be lost when individual freedom is left to run rampant, and neoconservatism works to maintain it. Each person living in society should be pleased on reasonable scale. That s not to say that everyone should get what they want, but there should be a shared satisfaction. One of the most important goals in neoconservatism is to look after other people. Neoconservatism is especially attractive for those who feel modern liberalism is steering the country into a hole. Those who feel forgotten and not cared about are likely to find a home in a neoconservative driven society. Predicted Outcome A world dominated by neoconservatism would be drastically different than what can be seen today. Today, the United States prides itself on the progression of its democratic system and inclusion of all citizens. Outcomes of such emphasis on progression and inclusion include programs put into place to support citizens. Some of these programs include welfare and social security. The cruiser has the ability to engage short range air, undersea and surface targets, as well as a long range strike capability. With around 300 crew and 30 officers (Navy 4), this billion dollar warship (Navy 4) can serve in many roles when it comes to the mission of the United States Navy. The Ticonderoga class cruisers primary mission is to provide anti air and long range combat capabilities. The advanced Aegis combat system, coupled with the Tomahawk missile, gives the cruiser a much longer range than most other ships in the Navy. The cruiser was initially slated as a DDG (Polmar 4); however, with the addition of the AEGIS, the USS Ticonderoga (CG 47) was designated a CG on January 1, 1980 (FAS 5). Not long after, the keel was laid on January 27, 1980 (FAS 5) and the project went into full effect. The USS Ticonderoga served all over the world fighting in places such as the Persian Gulf, the Mediterranean, Operation Desert Shield and many others. The USS Ticonderoga was the first ship to be deployed with the AEGIS weapons system, the most sophisticated air defense system in the world. Her saying made me realize the marvelous development of communication tools. As she said, the current technology which is supporting our communication is developing in unbelievable speed. Besides, such development is supporting a development of the other fields. We can have a business meeting via video call such a Skype. We can learn new languages by chatting with native speakers. Communication and technologies for communication are foundations for everything. However, are we optimizing such wonderful equipment or services? We are not properly using such tools because we sometimes are not being able to correctly behave in our diversified communications. In the primitive era, our ancestors only can communicate in a face using words from their mouth. After then, they have got the letters, phone, the internet, and so on in order to communicate with others who were in far away. In my grandmother s generation, they sent a letter to a person. Sometimes, letters were not delivered. Comparing that, nowadays, we can talk in a video call. We can feel the others real feeling, tone, face expression, body languages, and everything. Those developments of communication tools are apparently transcending traditional common sense that we were familiar with. This must be like a magic. However, recent communications differ than before. I ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

It often makes us wonder what inspired the artist to say what he or she said and why they chose to put it together that way. Certain artists are capable of leaving a lasting legacy that people pass on from generation to generation. It is easier for one to become influenced by an artist s work if they are exposed to it at a younger age. More often than not, people will gravitate towards a certain artist because they can find a way to connect with the writer. The ability to decipher, process and think deeply about an artists lyrics in order to find the meaning behind them is key to unlocking the impactfulness of the song. Not the soldiers, not the citizens, not anyone. Leaders around the globe tried to calm their frightened countries, but as Casper ten Boom in Corrie ten Boom s The Hiding Place tells us: It is wrong to give people hope when there is no hope. It is wrong to base faith off of wishes. There will be war. And was he ever right. On September 1, 1939, Adolf Hitler and his army of Nazis attacked Poland, marking the first day of six years of war, fear, and suffering. Hitler had long since came to power in Germany. After World War I, Germany was stripped of many things; money, cultural worth, dignity and power. The Germans needed a place to look to for help; they needed a promising future, and Adolf Hitler promised them just that. Blaming the Jewish religion, Hitler began to rise from the masses of Germans. He convinced Germany that the Jews were untermenschen , of what roughly translates to in English as subhuman or less of a human. So eager for hope of a better way of life, the rest of Germany trusted and gave him the power he needed to carry out multiple acts of destruction. • 23. Disadvantages Of Situational Syllabus 1. INTRODUCTION A syllabus can be defined as the specification of aims and the selection and grading of content to be used as a basis for planning foreign language (Newby, 2000, p.590). Therefore, an annual syllabus is considered to be the document which compiles all the information necessary to carry out the important task of teaching. There are different kinds of syllabus and in this aspect it would be a mistake not to mention the pioneering work of Wilkins (1976). This author distinguishes between situational syllabuses and notional syllabuses. The first one appears in a reaction against grammatical syllabuses which did not take learners situational needs into account (Wilkins, 1976, p.16). As Wilkins (1976, p.16) points out, we need the language so that we can use it in the situations that we encounter . Therefore, situational syllabuses compile a series of learning units with a wide diversity of situations in which learners learn to use the language. On the contrary, notional syllabuses take the desired communicative capacity as the starting point (Wilkins, 1976, p.18). According to this scholar, the advantage of the notional syllabus is that it does not only take into account grammatical and situational factors but also the communicative ones (Wilkins, 1976, p.19). In this light, Melrose (1991, p.5) affirms that in a notional syllabus it is assumed that speakers will need to express three ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... His career as a psychiatrist gave him a unique perspective and allowed him to focus on the identity formation of the colonized subject and racial injustice. Fanon s insight and view of colonization helped to further explain course material. In Fanon s famous work Black Skin, White Mask, it became obvious how prevalent and severe racism was at that time (Julien). According to Fanon, it led to depersonalization which was so strong that colored people ultimately had to wear a white mask in order to survive. I believe that it s very sad that colored people weren t allowed to fully embrace who they were are and weren t able to live peacefully with the whites. He makes several main points to substantiate such a bold and sweeping claim. Fanon states, At whatever level we study decolonization, it is quite simply the substitution of one species of mankind by another. The substitution is absolute, total, and seamless (Fanon 1). In recent times, congressional elections have not only become increasingly important, but also more expensive. The expense is often considered a result of modern times, however it results in many people being unable to run for a political position. This begs the question of who might be running for a political position if the price wasn t so high, would it be a more common person who relates more to the people. Often incumbents, those currently in office, are able to edge out competitors because of money. The price of elections can also affect issues that are covered by politicians. While its not too hard to fill the requirements for becoming a senator or representative, most people are unable to run for election due to the financial burden. In current times this leads to politicians caring less about issues and more on their image, money, and reelection. Pearl Harbor Monologue The next day, the 5th of November, at twelve, the delay would (morally speaking) expire; after that time, Commander Farragut, faithful to his promise, was to turn the course to the southeast and abandon forever the northern regions of the Pacific. The frigate was then in 31 15 north latitude and 136 42 east longitude. The coast of Japan still remained less than two hundred miles to leeward. Night was approaching. They had just struck eight bells; large clouds veiled the face of the moon, then in its first quarter. The sea undulated peaceably under the stern of the vessel. At that moment I was leaning forward on the starboard netting. Conseil, standing near me, was looking straight before him. The crew, perched in the ratlines, examined the ... • 36. Essay On Power In Heart Of Darkness The Fear of Being Powerless The bitterest contradiction and the deadliest conflicts of the world are carried on in every individual breast capable of feeling and passion (Raskin 116). It is possible that those with the best intentions can create some of the deadliest atrocities as passion can take control over one s emotions. This emotional instability can be seen in Heart of Darkness as Joseph Conrad illustrates how one s passion of saving others slowly turns into madness that causes hundreds of fatalities. We wonder, what could cause a man, such as Kurtz, in Heart of Darkness, to enter another country with the best intentions, to become so violent and be the reason behind thousands of brutal and torturous killings without ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... As a result of this, Kurtz s biggest fear was being powerless to the natives, leading him to act in inhumane ways as he did not want to become the inferior. This fear can be seen at the end when Kurtz exclaims to exterminate all brutes since the natives were unable to change to what he wanted, instead he was the one who became inferior. (Conrad 2009). The idea of the natives not viewing him powerful enough to follow his orders enraged him so much he wanted them all dead even while he was dying. This anger is expressed through why Conrad complex language and syntax for example, exterminate rather just kill as it illustrates the hatred and frustration he has towards the natives since he has now been a victim of his biggest fear. Conrad explains how we naturally fear being powerless considering society has taught us that being powerless and vulnerable will not keep us alive. Additionally, no matter what, we must stay true to ourselves and values. This is exactly what Kurtz did, he wanted to maintain his unchecked power until he died, but rather this being his individual decision, and it was a decision instilled in him that relates back to Conrad s proposition that our family creates a sense power within us while we are young. • 37. Analysis Of The Happy Garden Of Life In his short story 2 B R 0 2 B, Kurt Vonnegut encapsulates a perfect society that defies the odds. One in which old age is conquered, disease is unheard of, and death is a mountain that only volunteers choose to climb. Though a perfect world seems favorable, the nature defying aspects of this society come with a cost. The foundation of the this civilization is built on the ideal of population control; in order for one life to enter the world, another life must be taken out through government regulated gas chambers. Shortly after introducing the supposedly flawless nation, Vonnegut creates the centerpiece of its ideals and foundation: a neat, painted mural titled The Happy Garden of Life . In 2 B R 0 2 B, The Happy Garden of Life is used to symbolize a seemingly utopian nation, but as the vines of the story disentangle, it becomes evident that the compositional elements of the painting reveal the corruption lying within the society s foundation. By examining the details of the painted men and women, alongside the recurring motifs of white, purple, and fruit, one can conclude Vonnegut uses the mural to demonstrate the dystopia s desensitization to death. The first striking aspect about The Happy Garden of Life is a mutual trait portrayed among the majority of the painted men and women. Though not in the initial description, the figures are repeatedly referred to in the text as being blank, faceless bodies. With the mural symbolizing the world as a whole, this element ... • 41. William Butler Yeats The Second Coming In William Butler Yeats The Second Coming, the poet makes phrases such as; the best lack of conviction of stony sleep (19) and the falcon cannot hear the falconer (2). The phrases are useful in suggesting various thematic concerns of the poem as well asserting separation of ideas and events that occur during the time when Yeats is writing his work. Different interpretations of the stanzas may bring a connection of the antagonism of people and events that Yeats foresees. For instance, the falcon separates from the falconer, the lion having the head of a human being (sphinx) and things falling apart indicate contradicting forces that work to build history at the time. The analysis of the poem is on the basis of contradicting forces that separate modernity from the ancient world. Yeats introduces the poem by referring to a falcon that flies away from the falconer who happens to release it. Shockingly, the falcon cannot hear its master but it continues wheeling at far distance from the falconer. The separation between the falcon and the falconer presents a metaphorical incidence that is worth to interpret. For instance, it is possible that the disassociation represent the young ones, acting as falcons, and separate themselves from the old order of the society. Notably, the modern children may be adopting new societal principles different from the ones that their parents and grandparents prescribe during the Yeats time. Such societal engagements may touch on music, new ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 46. Disadvantages Of Commission Based Compensation Scenario 1: Commission Based Compensation A commission based approach to employee compensation has its pros and cons from the standpoint of the firm. Let us look at the advantages. Reduces fixed costs: As mentioned in the Wall Street Letter (2003), one of the main advantages of a commission based salary is that it helps to reduce fixed costs. Fixed costs cover the basic salaries of the sales personnel while the variable costs cover the commission. With a commission based salary structure, sales personnel will get a lower basic salary while more incentive is incorporated into their commission structure. Thus this will reduce a firm s fixed costs significantly. Healthier cash flow: Commission based compensation gives the firm a financial advantage such that it only pays the sales personnel upon sales conversions (Kokemuller). That is, the firm ... Setting Analysis and Symbolism of Wuthering Heights by Emily Bronte In Wuthering Heights, Emily Bronte uses the setting of the English Moors, a setting she is familiar with, to place two manors, Wuthering Heights and Thrushcross Grange. The first symbolizes man s dark side while the latter symbolizes an artificial utopia. This 19th century setting allows the reader to see the destructive nature of love when one loves the wrong person. The manor Wuthering Heights is described as dark and demonic.
