Right To Free Speech Persuasive Speech
The right to free speech is one of the most precious rights an individual has as a citizen of the
United States of America. This right gives people the opportunity to speak their mind and give
their opinions of what they think should happen. These rights have been questioned and exercised
throughout history, and have produced extremely positive things in a lot of cases. In modern
times, people are always protesting something and in the colonial times it was the same. People
wanted their voice to be heard and as long as it is done in a peaceful manner it is legal now, but it
resulted in punishment for the colonists. People have never questioned whether or not these rights
should exist, the questions involve whether there should be limits or not. No matter what side the
authorities take, there are only two main points to deal with cyberstalking: free speech is an
essential right, but it should not be meant to include hate speech.
A system that tolerates hate speech is probably superior to the alternatives, but defenders of an
absolute right can t pretend no one gets hurt. Epps (2014) suggested that free speech does do
harm and it has to be defended: hate speech may be for individual members of minorities or other
targeted groups, its toleration is to their great collective benefit. What Epps means is that hate
speech can cause people harming themselves or most of them decide to end their lives. For
example, this goes back to the boy name Roy that committed suicide after his girlfriend kept
sending him multiple text messages, The judge said he did not take into account in his verdict
Roy s previous suicide attempts (Truesdell, Pennington, Hanlon, 2017). What the writer seem to
suggest might have been perceived as of how many times the boy tried to kill himself but failed
until the last time he did it. Finally, Hate speech is often misunderstood because it can be classified
as either careless or intentionally hurtful. Many people interpret careless statements as acts of
aggression, but with good reason. It would be false to say that the freedom of speech has never been
manipulated to inflict damage upon others. Questions have been risen of what hate speech is and
if it should be allowed to be viewed by

My Friend As A Friend
As a child growing up you meet many people that you like. Everyone tends to make your day
from the kind stranger whom gave you a dollar at the grocery store to your neighbor that lets you
pet their dog. As I ve gotten older I ve grown to love people more than like. Moreover, I have made
many long term friendsand continue to do so. I ve always been a social person so making good
quality friends has never been a problem. As my mom would say, I have never met a stranger.
Now that I am a freshman in college and making more friends than ever. Although I ve only been
here for three weeks, I have a large circle of friends that I like very much. Since then, the circle has
gotten smaller. Now, there is one person that I do like the most, Vanessa Rodgers.
In fact, Vanessa is one of my twelve close friends that I have made since I first got to Grambling
State University. Since being her friend I have learned that she is also from my hometown,
Houston, Texas. Vanessa is the opposite of me on the surface but we do share very many
similarities. Besides our place of origin, we re also very sarcastic and hilarious. Our friends and
strangers alike say that we re good people to be around. Always making someone laugh or if you
ever need a friend to talk to, Vanessa is the person I call on. She has a very high pitch squeaky
voice that makes everything she say sound so much better. Everyone gets tickled every time she
opens her mouth to speak. Vanessa always has to get the last word and

The American Red Cross (ARC)
The American Red Cross (ARC) has long faced multiple ethical dilemmas associated with various
aspects of its operations. The Food and Drug Administration (FDA) has been closely scrutinizing
the organization related to its blood donation services (Ferrell, Fraedrich, Ferrell, 2015). In
Canada, over 1,000 people; mostly hemophiliacs dependent on life saving blood clotting products,
have been infected by HIV tainted transfusions and more than 500 Canadian hemophiliacs have
subsequently died of AIDS as a result of contaminated blood from the Red Cross (Grace, 1995).
These accusations were related to mismanagement of screenings and blood collections as well as
failing to discard potentially unsafe donations. Many speculate that these issues arose... Show more

After the debacle with the blood, they development and implementation of standardized and more
uniform history questionnaires to help to ensure that they are maintaining the same standards
across all collection sites (Zou, Eder, Musavi, Notari IV, Fang, Dodd (2007). The changes that were
made to the Code of Business Ethics and Conduct in January of 2007 now requires that all
employees read and sign the two page document stating and acknowledging understanding of the
company s expectations. They also implemented a 24 hour anonymous call line where anyone
can call to voice concerns about the organization. They also published an Ethics Rules and
Policies statement that outlines the details about how business will be conducted regarding
business funds, property, allocation of time, addressing conflicts of interest, recordkeeping and
the handling of media inquiries (Ferrell, Fraedrich, Farrell, 2015). While those are all effective
tools to manage what has happened in the past, the ARC will also need to ensure that they are
not allowing anything to damage their reputation going forward. To do this, they will need to be
diligent in their hiring practices; ensuring that they are following the same policy and procedures
for each employee and that expectations are laid out regarding ethical behavior from the very
beginning of employment. They will need to, at least yearly, revisit ethical responsibility topics
with all employees to keep those skills fresh and on the forefront of everyone s mind. It will be
imperative for the company to continue to build itself back up from its previous failures and to
ensure that they have learned from their

Descriptive Essay On A Day At The Restaurant
As I become more occupied cleaning glasses, I have less time to talk to customers and
coworkers. I continue to listen to and chime in on the conversations people share at the bar. There
is the constant background noise of the dishwasher going, people talking in other dining rooms,
and background music. The dishwasher lets out a muffled humming noise that only I really can
hear while it s functioning. Even when it seems to obnoxiously rage with sound, no one at the bar
ever notices. The television above my head constantly screens some sort of sporting event. There s
no sound coming from this, so people can hear the Motown music played throughout the
restaurant. On the back of my pants I have a buzzer attached that lets me know when people at the
bar s food or to go orders are up. When the kitchensignals my buzzer, I quickly head into the
server station and pick up a black, non skid server tray. I go down to the kitchen, which exudes
smells of numerous different types of cuisines, and pick up the food ready to be served. I set a
large chicken Florentine pizza on a pizza stand for a couple, a pizza composed of chicken breast,
tomato, red onion, and spinach on mozzarella. As I hand the two customers fresh cracked black
pepper to sprinkle, I hear a glass crash against the wooden floor in the 200s dining room, the largest
section in the middle of the upstairs. A champagne flute slid off one of the busboy s tray and
broken into what seems like a billion different pieces across the

Why Be An Educated Person Essay
Why be an educated person?
The term education can mean many things. An education is the collective knowledge a person
has, but what does an education mean? Although an education can be paid for, no one can
physically give you an education, so it is not a gift. There are societal situations where an
education is a necessity, but not many globally. Education is a tool to be utilized differently in
every part of the world. Knowledge is power, but some knowledge is more powerful depending on
your region. If you are part a primitive tribe in New Guinea, a person that is considered to be
educated may be illiterate. Whereas in America, an illiterate person would have trouble functioning
at all in society. Education is a tool that is to be ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
This situation exemplifies the problems that one can face when an education is desired but outside
scarcities disallow.
There are some circumstances where special educational aspects are a necessity in a certain
region, but education is not global. In most developed countries a lawyer would be considered an
educated person, but if a lawyer was sent to a more primitive society he would be lost. A farmer
educated in cultivation in Nebraska could nourish himself indefinitely, but take away his farm and
he has nothing but the knowledge of farming. There are certain things that a person must know in
order to have the power to survive in a chosen society. These things change with regards to the
society at hand. In more developed places it is pertinent that you know how to read. Without this
skill a person will remained severely uninformed, disconnected, and uneducated. The ability to read
is the stepping stone to self education. A literate person with motivation and knowledge of
construction can become successful with very little institutionalized education. This skill, as it
applies to American social culture, is the most important attribute of an education. Without the
ability to read, a person would have to either settle for an extremely unskilled job, grow their own
food, or resort to thievery. In a accomplished society such as

Resistance in a Wire Coursework
Resistance in a Wire Coursework In this investigation we are trying to look for resistance in a
piece of wire, and how the length of a wire can increase or decrease the resistance. The things that
affect the resistance in a wire are: the length of the wire a certain amount of wire cross sectional
area of the wire (thickness) temperature material What things can affect the resistance in a wire?
The temperature can affect the resistance in a wire, because the more thermal energy a component
has the more the atoms within it will vibrate and get in the path of the free electrons, so the higher
the temperature, more resistance is being produced. Material can affect the resistance due to the
number of free ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The thickness of the wire decreases. Once you have figured out the thickness of the wire (length
x width), you will be able to calculate the ohms law. Prediction My prediction for this experiment
is, once the length of the wire increases, so will the resistance. What my results show me My
results show me that once the readings on the ammeter and the voltage increase, so will the
resistance, because of this we decided to increase the length of wire used by 10cm each time a
reading was recorded. Method 1.Set up the series circuit. 2.Connect the crocodile clip to 30cm
along the wire. 3.Switch on the power supply. 4.Record readings from the ammeter and voltmeter.
5.Switch off the power supply. 6.Repeat the stages of 2 6 three times at length 30cm intervals up to
1 metre. What I did and why I kept my experiment a fair test in the following ways: I did not change
any parts of the circuit (wires, ammeter, voltmeter or battery pack) in between the measurements
this would have prevented small discrepancies between circuit components from affecting the
results. When taking the measurements from the voltmeter and ammeter, I waited for the reading
to settle completely. If it didn t settle, then I would have made an estimate of the middle value being
shown. Waiting for the reading to settle prevented accidentally taking a reading while the value is
fluctuating randomly when the power is first turned

Difference Between Modern And Mendeleev Periodic Table
Over so many years the periodic table has changed in many years. In the modern periodic table
the elements are arranged in order of increasing atomic numbers. In mendeleev s periodic table
they were in arranged in order of increasing atomic weight. The difference in the modern and
mendeleev periodic table n 1869, just five years after John Newlands put forward his law of
octaves, a Russian chemist called Dmitri Mendeleev published a periodic table. Mendeleev also
arranged the elements known at the time in order of relative atomic mass, but he did some other
things that made his table much more successful. In the modern periodic there are families and
periods.there are seven horizontal rows of elements called periods. The vertical columns of
elements are called groups, or families. The Matrix. Mendeleev s periodic table presented a new
paradigm, with all of the elements positioned within a logical matrix..
Mendeleev had written the properties of elements on pieces of card and tradition has it that after
organising the cards while playing patience he suddenly realised that by arranging the element
cards in order of increasing ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Sometimes this method of arranging elements meant there were gaps in his horizontal rows or
periods . But instead of seeing this as a problem, Mendeleev thought it simply meant that the
elements which belonged in the gaps had not yet been discovered. He was also able to work out
the atomic mass of the missing elements, and so predict their properties. And when they were
discovered, Mendeleev turned out to be right. For example, he predicted the properties of an
undiscovered element that should fit below aluminium in his table. When this element, called
gallium, was discovered in 1875, its properties were found to be close to Mendeleev s predictions.
Two other predicted elements were later discovered, lending further credit to Mendeleev s

Huckleberry Finn Flaws
Huckleberry Finn: The Great America Novel When I was in 5th grade I first read Huckleberry
Finn. Not the full version, mind you. It was of course censored to slaves and left out some very
meticulous details but it still had that feel of racism, the stereotypes, and all the things that had
been labeled controversial, now and then. But regardless of these flaws I kept reading, as it was the
first novelthat I had read that really hooked me in and left me with a real sense of American pride.
So when I was given the arguing side for Huck Finn, I was excited and even after the debate I
know that Huckleberry Finn is the Great American Novel. When we started the debate I
immediately interested by the points that both sides were presenting. Both... Show more content on

While the argument is that the plot is weak and has a unsatisfactory ending, I know for a fact it
is one of the only endings to a novel that I will ever remember. The ending really brought
together some previously left out details that Twain built up well in my opinion, and the final
goodbye to the territory really left me as a reader feeling American pride. This American pride is
also something that I will forever remember as it is not only a main focus, but is the biggest part
of the argument for being the great American novel. It s sense of adventure and freedom left me
and I m sure people with the feeling that anything was possible through freedom and adventure,
the very things symbolized my America. So, really it s a no brainer for me. It would be an
absolute travesty to remove Huckleberry Finn from our curriculum as it offers so much and
portrays the real life that existed for African Americans during the 1840s. It has adventure, daring,
morals, complex emotions, and most of all an overtone of American pride that can always be
useful to younger generations that are still learning the term. Sure, there are other books that could
tell the story of how wrong slavery is and the evils of racism but I believe that what Huckleberry
Finn brings to the table is to much to

New York Public Library Essay
INTRODUCTION
The New York Public Library is one of the most revered institutions of a city with many competing
interests. To stand out of the crowd is a tough and serious task. Embodied in the Beaux Art building
on the corner of Fifth Avenue and Forty Second Street in Manhattan, the flagship building is
synonymous with everything that makes New York City, a world class metropolis, known the world

Fortitude guard the Stephan A Schwarzman building, as it now known are equally emblematic and
as famous as the institution, which they guard itself. These lions have witnessed many a parades,

Short Story Of Montresor
As I walked off the bus I noticed a black station wagon parked in my drive way.
Who could this be? I wondered.
As I open the door a gentleman in a black suit caught my attention.
You must be Mr. Montresor, what a lovely man indeed.
a a a and you are. The nerves in my body were shocked, what is he doing, where are my parents,
how does he know my name.
Oh, pardon my rudeness, I am the Dawn White, the richest guy in town, also your parents lawyer.
I can just tell by the way he introduced himself this man wasn t good news. Why is he sitting all
alone in my house?
I didn t mean to fright you, young man
The name is Montresor. I corrected.
Montresor, I come here today with good news, your grandparents had sadly passed which I send
my condolences. But because of their passing they left you with their liberty, you can now enjoy
their multimillion dollar home and royalty.
It was as if Dawn White s words were a blur. Am I dreaming? Is this all a prank? No, it couldn t
be. Why would he just come out of nowhere to grant us the biggest wish.
Hello, Montresor? Are you okay?
Yeah, sorry sir. I stuttered.
Your parents are in the process of moving, it is time for me to go now. Enjoy your new life.
As White slams the door shut, I couldn t help but replay the words moving in my head. How
would Fortunato take this news? How would I take that kind of news? There is only one way to
find out.
As I walk to his door my heart pounded harder and harder with every step.

Should Teens Be Allowed To Vote
Should teens be allowed to vote ? There are different responses to this. The article Takoma Park
16 year old savors his history making moment at the polls by Annys Shin published on Nov. 3,
2013 shows different sides about teens being allowed to vote. The article indicates that some
individuals believe that teens should be allowed to vote while other don t believe that they should.
After reading the article and seeing the pros and cons of students votingone can infer that it won t
be a good idea for students to vote. Many people agree that teen should be allowed to vote, but
why. Teens are still young kids who still are not matured enough to help shape the world. They are
not at the ageto vote. Being able to vote for them will seem like a joke. They won t take it
seriously. If teens are allowed to vote many won t even take time and think about what is the
best decision for them. Think about it this way as a teen when a teacher would tell you to make
up your mind if you wanna see the movie the Lion King or Home Alone. A teen will talk it out
with their friends and their vote will be influenced by others. They will raise their hand to the one
the friend chooses. Well same as voting their vote won t really be accurate of what they think.
They won t know who to vote for and will just vote on what a friend is voting for. Teens are still
too young to vote.
Teens are not matured enough. Yes there are student who at the age of 16 and 17 are like adults,

The Complex Adaptive System Of A Healthcare Organization
The key to the success of a healthcare organization is defined by the many qualities and attributes
its leaders possess when overseeing patient care. Such care, whether executed at the micro, meso,
or macro level, can be beneficial to an organization, or results in the failure when change is
inappropriately addressed. A strong leader is one who can manage change, and direct care
throughout all the numerous levels of an organization by utilizing values that are a reflection of the
bureaucratic thoughts and principles, or the complex adaptive system. The complex adaptive
system is a comprehensive system that is complicated in nature and often can cause chaos and the
failure of an organization when change is not properly managed. During my professional career, I
have observed many styles of managementskills and found this to work both against an
organization and as well as, prove beneficial when handling change. The overall success of any
organization is dependent upon the quality attributes of its leaders. I believe the complex adaptive
method is a control method that forces the good employees away. A prime example of this style of
management was observed with the launching of computerizing charting.
Computers, as you are familiar with can be challenging, and as well as, they can create havoc
which can be devastating for some. Seasonal nurses are not so reluctant to give in to any changes,
and trying to comprehend something new can result in a toxic environment for them

Essay about Civil War Weapons and Atrillery
The Weapons of the American Civil War
The Civil War, also called The War Between the States, was one of the bloodiest wars in
American history. What made the Civil War such a massacre? The Civil War was such a
bloodbath because the technological advances were so far superior to the tactics of the infantry,
that the weapons virtually obliterated the soldiers. Soldiers would form lines known as a
battalions. In these battalions, soldiers would basically march to their deaths. In addition to
weapons doing so much damage, fortification on the battlefield was far more advanced than had
ever been before. The Cheveau de frise was the main focus of armored fortification in the Civil
War. This fortification consisted of 10 to 12 foot... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Colonel Mosby once remarked . . .the only real use for a sword was to hold a piece of meat over
a fire for frying. 6 The Union army, unlike the Confederates, had multiple companies that
provided simple, yet devastating weapons. One of these weapons was the .52 caliber breech
loading Billinghurst Requa battery; it was produced only 50 times. This weapon consisted of 25
rifled barrels side by side that, when primed, were set off by a lanyard to inflict massive damage
over a small range of territory.7 The Union forces also produced many long range artillery
weapons. Unlike the Confederates, who used Howitzers; the Union Army used mortars. The
short squat mortar, as it was called, was originally used by the Ottoman s in 1453. The mortars
operated by the Union were primarily used to hurl shells over walls or into large concentrations
of enemy soldiers. In addition to lobbing bombs over walls, the mortars were also extremely
effective in dismantling naval forces. The mortars could be shot from miles inland, therefore
Confederate naval forces never saw the bombs coming. The mortar weighed 17,120 pounds and
could fire a 220 pound bomb 4,325 yards. There were smaller versions of these mortars (the 300 lb
Coehorn mortar with a 5.8 inch bore that hurled an 18 pound shell), but they saw very little activity

The Reasons for Our Troubles(1862)
Douglass lists numerous causes of the war as presented by his contemporaries. What are they?
President Abraham Lincoln was the foremost topic of importance when regarding the causes for the
crisis and war that took place in the United States presented by Douglass contemporaries. They
claimed that before Lincoln s presidency there was tranquility among the states: Before Lincoln
there was a peace; after Lincoln there was rebellion (Shi, Mayer, 2013, p. 433). Ironically, the
first task on Lincoln s agenda for his presidency was focusing on maintaining peace within the
states: he was devoted to peace (Tindall, Shi, 2013, p.494). Lincoln opted to make a statement
during his inauguration promising that he would remain out of the affairs of the southern slave
states and their slave business: Lincoln repeats his pledge not to interfere with the institution of
slavery in the states where it exists (Tindall, Shi, 2013, p.495). However, Lincoln did not tolerate
the secession of the southern states saying it was unlawful and that he would continue the same
policies of taxes, tariffs, etc. that had been set in place before his presidency. Lincoln was under
the impression that his actions would lead the states towards a time of peace. However, Douglass
contemporaries believed, Lincoln s presidency was a turn towards crisis and rebellion. The main

With the Peer to Peer Network it is decentralized and can connect up to ten computers at once,
each computer is plugged into a hub or a switch. Each worker who is an administrator, each has
a local account, each computer has a name to it, and each user can control access from their
computer to another user s computer, each user can access or share files in other for that to
happen the user need to know the name of computer they wish to connect to and access to
printing or scanning may be cumbersome as usernames and passwords being remembered is
vital in order to gain access. It needs absolutely no training and it is not costly, however as
mentioned earlier remembering the usernames and passwords are vital. I would recommend that
you choose Peer to peer because it is costless and easy to use, besides having to remember all the
computer names and passwords. The second Network is the Client/Server Network, the Client
/Server Network is a centralized network, reasons for, all computers will be connected to a server
which is in the centre there will be one central administrator, you could assign a staff or you
could be the own administrator, only the administrator decides what to share and not share, this
means files will be a lot safer and some files will remain secure. It also connects up to ten
computers or more. This network is quite expensive and you will need to be trained to use it. This
network would

Marketing Strategies For The Hospitality Industry
The hospitality industry is an industry that heavily relies on the experience economy. It is essential
for hotels and restaurants to gain a competitive advantage through differentiation to create and
provide unique experiences for customers. After all, customers not only pay for products, they also
pay for the services provided, embracing the experience economy. There are seven marketing
strategies to achieve this goal, two of which are Physical Evidence and Process . This paper will be
discussing these two strategies and how the hospitality industry uses them to create memorable
experiences.
The first of the two strategies is Physical Evidence . Customers tend to rely on physical cues to
assist in evaluation of a product before buying it. These physical cues are provided by the physical
evidence of the product. In the hotels and restaurants, the physical environment plays a huge role in
physical evidence. The physical environment includes factors such as ambiance and spatial layout.
(Professional Academy) These factors are crucial in evoking emotions in customers. When
ambiance and spacial layout are done right or tailored to suit the theme of the restaurant or hotel,
customers would feel positively about their whole experience.
Ambiance is a critical part of any restaurant or hotel when it comes to selling the whole
experience. Ambiance can be diverse. For example, from a relaxing, soothing environment in a spa
to loud music, a dark room with bright lights in a

Legally Blonde Was Released, Telling The Story Of Elle Woods
Fourteen years ago, the romantic comedy Legally Blonde was released, telling the story of Elle
Woods, a ditzy sorority girl who follows her ex boyfriend, Warner, to Harvard Law School in
hopes of proving to him that she is not just another dumb blonde and winning him back. Elle
studies hard, forgets about Warner, and ends up graduating as valedictorian with job offers from
multiple prestigious law firms. While making audiences laugh, the movie also inspired those who
were undervalued and doubted by others to go to college, with the message that if they studied and
worked hard enough, anything is possible. However, regardless of work ethic and intelligence, this
aspiration is impossible for most. Even if one is accepted into their dream university, there is still
the underlying issue of how they will pay for their education. For many, college is an important
step in achieving success, but paying for a high quality college education is impossible. Even
for those who find a way to pay, their chances of success are sabotaged by the price of their
degree, despite the importance of a college education. Although in the twenty first century there
is significant emphasis on the necessity of a college degree, qualified students are prevented
from reaching their full potential because of the rising cost of a college education. College prices
are rapidly rising; public four year college tuitions are rising at an average of 5.6% every year,
while public two year college tuitions are

Three Categories That Signify Public Service Motives
This week reading highlights the 3 categories that signify Public service motives, in which Dr.
Wise described as the process that causes individuals to perform acts that contribute to the public
good as a way of satisfying their personal need (Stillman, 319). These types are: Affective motive,
Rational motives and norm based motives. Affective motives is embedded in the individuals
emotion, it allows the individual to connect with the public organization based on the need to
protect the organization, the environment and self identify with the program. Rational motives are
the need to fulfill one personal since of identification, in better word the need to fit in and hold an

Should Hospitals Test Pregnant Women for Drug Use Without...
Should hospitals test pregnant women for drug use without their consent?
Hospitals, during their normal course of treatment should test pregnant women for drugs of any
type, whether legal or not. Of course, the patient should be informed of such testing, but consent
should not be required. Findings of illegal drugs should be used to educate and treat the mother for
an addiction rather than informing law enforcement of such an activity.
Hospitals are in the business of treating people s ailments and promoting health. Reporting of illegal
drug use should be left to law enforcement. An exception to the rule is if the illegal activity is
personally witnessed by hospital staff. In cases of pregnancy, the hospital s duty and obligation is ...

This is why hospitals must use drug abuse information gained by testing to educate and treat the
addiction. The good that such education and treatment not only benefits mother and child but
ripples throughout the entire community and economy.
Hospitals also have a duty and obligation to protect the mother s right to privacy. Releasing medical
and treatment information without their consent is a violation of HIPAA, Health Insurance
Portability and Accountability Act, and of the Privacy Rule that protects mother s personal health
information from being disclosed, again without consent. Hospitals are to be in compliance of the
law but not to enforce it. That should be left to law enforcement to handle. Disclosure to law
enforcement without consent may also be a violation of the mother s 4th Amendment right, the
right against unreasonable search and seizure. Again, the mother has the right to privacy; to be
secure in their persons, houses, papers, and effects, against unreasonable searches and seizures ... ,
in this case, their medical information and treatment.
Speaking of law enforcement, law enforcement may prosecute the mother of a crime that has not
been directly witnessed. Use of illegal drugs is not being condoned, but law enforcement must have
first hand knowledge of it to act. Prosecution may serve as a disservice as well. Imprisonment and
punishment only

The purpose of this essay is to discuss the clinical differences in the diagnosis of both Major
Depressive Disorder (Unipolar depression) and Bipolar Depression can be made on the basis of
characteristics of a Major Depressive Episode (MDE). That is, can an MDE in patients with
Major Depressive Disorder be differentiated from a MDE in patients with Bipolar Disorder?
Firstly, the extremes in mood, Major Depressive Episode and mania/hypomania will be defined
and it will be explained how they contribute to a diagnosis of MDD or Bipolar Disorder based on
the diagnostic criteria of the Diagnostic and Statistical Manual of Mental Disorders. Secondly, the
importance of differentiating the two disorders based on MDE characteristics will be explained.
Thirdly, the literature on the clinical characteristics of MDE in Bipolar and Unipolar Depression
will be reviewed. Lastly, this essay will touch on what this means for clinicians in their decisions in
diagnosing patients with Major Depressive Disorderor Bipolar disorder. The main features of
Major Depressive Episodes (MDE) include a depressed mood for most days and loss of interest
and pleasure in enjoyable activities (also known as ahedonia). For the diagnoses of a MDE to be
made, these symptoms must be experienced for at least two weeks and symptoms must cause
significant impact on day to day functioning (APA, 2013). Additional symptoms include lack of
concentration (e.g unable to focus on everyday tasks, work), lack of

Human Condition
One of the reasons the movement is so difficult to define is because many of these thinkers have
differing views on what the human condition is, which is at the center of the study of
existentialism. Something that is found to be common between many existentialist, though, is their
consistent and utter rejection to any and all systems, theories and organizational constructs that
attempt to answer the question of the human condition, and give value to our existence in a
comprehensive approach whether they are based in religion, science or philosophy.
One of the most historically outstanding systems which claims to explain some core existential
questions about the human condition is religion. Religion was something that filled the void of the
existential question for as long as humanity has existed, and alleviate the concern of creating
meaning and purpose. Existentialist thinkers have adopted the belief that following organized ...

Oftentimes, constructs such as religion offer a partial experience, often such systems will see the
meaning and purpose to life as somehow emanating from an alternative, objective realm, such as
heaven. However; in doing so they lose sight of the perspective of what life is like for an
individual living on this earth and experiencing all the fears, anxieties, hopes and disappointments
that are a part of the human condition. For example, many of the mass organized religions often
provide answers to many of the vexing questions of life from the perspective of an all knowing and
all powerful God, whose word is thought to be communicated to us through prophets. However,
existentialists stress that what we most need is not a divine perspective of the human condition, but
a human perspective, for as Nietzsche put it we are ultimately, much to his chagrin, human, all too

Cause And Effect On Climate Change
Fourteen billion pounds of garbage is dumped into our oceans every year and most of it is
plastic. Americans alone make up 5 % of the world s population and yet we produce 30% of the
worlds waste and use 25% of the world s resources. When even exposed to the ground ozone for
only 6 7 hours healthy people s lung function has decrease. With the increasing pollution the more
it affects the climate which in returns effect our health and our everyday lives. Climate change has
many reasons why it has increased and effected many people s lives and how they live in this world.
Climate change is affect by many different factors in the world, 4 main contributors to climate
change are gases which are water vapor, carbon dioxide, methane, and nitrous oxide. What all of
these types of gases have in common is that they all affect the greenhouse effect. The greenhouse
effect is warming that results when the atmosphere traps heat radiating from earth to space. Water
vapor is the most abundant greenhouse gas and also the most critical component because as the
earth gets warmer by carbon dioxide more water vapor entries the atmosphere. Andrew Dessler
and colleagues from Texas A M University in College Station confirmed heat amplifying effect of
water vapor is potent enough to double the climate warming caused by increased levels of carbon
dioxide in the atmosphere. (Hansen 2). As carbon dioxide heats up the atmosphere more water
vapor is released cause climate change to double. Carbon

Vatican s Involvement In Pope Pius XII
Yes, to an extent, I do believe that the Vatican could have done more especially in terms of Pope
Pius XII s direct involvement . From reading the scholarly work by Conway (1989) and Zuccotti
(2005), it is seen that there has been a lot of criticism as to the Pope s effort to save Jewish people
who were being murdered by the Nazi s prior to and during the holocaust. By looking at Zuccotti s
work, it can be understood that whilst the Church and the Vatican s members did provide shelter to
the Jewsthat were being attacked, it is seen that there was no instruction from the Pope himself at
that time to help the Jews and thus these members were in essence behaving in a way that they
believed would be approved by the Pope, as part of the

Why Great Men Do Not Become President Essay
Why Great Men Do Not Become President
Over the course of history America has been electing the most popular not necessarily the best
qualified men as president. The office has become a strategic component vital to each political
party. Parties sacrifice a great leader for the man that will win the most votes. History is a record of
how we have always had had this practice. The office is full of corruption because money and
influence run the presidency. The political leaders lie to the people that he is intended to serve.
There are many overwhelming reasons that the best man is not always chosen for the job. They all
inevitably stem down to the simple fact that a political party in order for its survival must have their

Location, religion, and political goals for the people are the most common deciding factors. Some
of the other techniques were more obvious in an example of serving in the Union Army greatly
increased your chances at becoming president. Simply being a Union soldier should not be a
major factor in determining a great leader but in the court of public opinion it is kind of
prerequisite in the elections after the Civil War.
The term giving for this was Waving the bloody shirt. Grant was elected after Civil War because
of his role as the leading general of Union forces.
Towards the end of an election, presidential candidates become more of a brand name then a person.
In the most recent election, Bush and Gore both put on equally entertaining shows. While watching
a HBO documentary I was able to get a glimpse that majority of Americans never get to see. It was
the truth behind the man that is the president. The independent documentary shows Bush running
down the street choreographed with news crews to run at the right pace, then turns the corner and
gets into a waiting Lincoln navigator. This is to help his image. People do not want to elect an out
of shape president. Physical ability is something on the minds of all
Americans. Seeing the candidate take a jog down the street helps them secure the image of fitness
with the candidate making it more likely people with the same views will vote for him.

Nevertheless, Alice s character is undoubtedly about finding her own voice and independence in
a man s world and how she evolves in the film. The initial characterization of Alice before her

the film, we are introduced to Alice Hyatt, who is a 35 year old as the titles suggests us, living in
Socorro, New Mexico. In the background, we hear the song All the Way from Memphis by the
band Mott the Hoople. Next, the camera zooms in on an individual house and the inside of a room

All Human Beings Possess A Basic Understanding Of Love
All human beings possess a basic understanding of love and are able to express love through
verbalizations, emotions, gestures, or other acts of kindness; however, the condition of the human
heart is tainted by sin and so is love in terms of humanity. Thus, human beings are unable to
understand and comprehend love s truest form which is found in the embodiment God s being. God
s love is communicated to mankind through the covenants, the wonders of creation, the personhood
of JesusChrist, and the power of the Holy Spiritwho subsequently seals God s offer of salvation
through the atoning death of Jesus Christ. Furthermore, those whom God allows Himself to be
known can also know God s love through God s providential care and sustainment... Show more

Hence, with all the confusion and mystery that surrounds the Trinity, it becomes difficult to
understand how each member of the Trinity shares in the attribute of God s love.
Without the Trinity, human beings cannot appreciate the attribute of God s love. Thus, God
reveals His attribute of love through Jesus Christ (John 3:16) while Jesus displays the attribute
of God s love through the crucifixion (John 15:13), and the Holy Spirit makes the attribute
known through the regeneration (Titus 3:5) of the believer (Dockery, 1992). Furthermore, love
itself is in triunity; hence, there must be the lover, the love, and the loved (Conner, 1980, p. 53).
In the Godhead, the attribute of God s love finds a perfect expression (Matthew 3:16; John
14:31) in the triunity of the Father who is the lover, the Son who is the loved, and the Holy
Spirit who is love (Conner, 1980, p. 53). Thus, the Father who so loved (John 3:16) gave the Son
his love (Colossians 1:13) and the love of the Spirit (Romans 15:30; Galatians 5:22) which is
expressed to mankind not only in creation but in redemption where the invisible is made visible
(Conner, 1980).
Adding to the complexity of God s love is the fact that the attribute of God s love is not easily seen
in the Holy Spirit as the Holy Spirit never truly reveals Himself to human consciousness; hence, the

Overpaid Athletes Over Paid Essay
Are Athletes over paid? YES, athletes are overpaid! People often wonder what justifies an
athlete making more money than the President of the United States. Babe Ruth replied to this
question by saying Well, I had a better year. For a while, athletes demanded and received salaries
so out of proportion with an average salary. What makes modern times different is that
professional sport players are pulling in an insane amount of money, compared to athletes that
played the same sport in previous generations. Fifty years ago, only the outfielders who hit 40
homeruns would make a huge salary. Now, however, the normal infielder who comes in as a
replacement three times a week makes ten times more than an average working man. In 1979
Nolan Ryan broke ground, he became the first athlete to receive a $1 million a year contract. I
think that the contracts of professional athletes have gone unchecked for too long, and now athletes
are one of the wealthiest people in our nation. Athletes are paid too much for simply playing
games. Sports are really just for entertainment and we pay a colossal amount of money to watch

Analysis On Value Map Or Value Network Analysis
Section 1: Analysis on a value map or value network analysis
Value Map or value network analysis (VNA) is used for companies to gain full insights into how
business is operating in term of relationship with its external environment or actors. It is important
to understand how to convert intangible or tangible and knowledge assets and business
relationships with external actors into other forms of negotiable value. Moreover, based on current
situation of own value network analysis, an organization can analyze, evaluate and improve the

products can be found, in order to get rated, commented by the rest of the community. Based on
the current position of LB s value network analysis, (i) further analysis on external actors or roles
will be made and focus on the key roles that can benefit and add more value to the business
operation, (ii) how to make good relationship with external actors in order to successfully increase
other actors value and vice versa and finally, based on the existing business position, (iii) identify
and use different success strategies in order to gain more business opportunities and for value

The Death Of The Boy
Once, a very long time ago, a boy lived happily with his mother. The boy was chubby and small;
he had very dark hair and extremely large glasses; he seemed to be a flibbertigibbet, an oddball
child with a very introverted outlook on life along with knowledge beyond his years. He and his
mother were but simple Dysart folk that brought no harm to anyone, but harm unfortunately came
their way in the form of the mother becoming very ill with a stroke. This caused a great deal of
difficulty for the boy as his persistently inebriated older brother, Stephen, whom he hoped he would

The boy nodded and then walked briskly, yet silently, towards the Religious section of the

desk in front of the receptionist; the dust covering the book flew up and surrounded the boy and
the receptionist in a fog whilst the sound reverberated around the whole library causing a

down at the floor.

Power System Essay
The Distributed is electrical power generation in small scale (usually 1MW to 50MW) near the
load centre using either conventional techniques such as Diesel generators and micro turbines or
using non conventional techniques such as Photo Voltaic, wind turbines and small hydro power.
This modern concept of power system is very advantageous as it reduces the load on the grid,
consumers get a reliable power of better quality, and consumers can supply surplus power to the
grid and earn a considerable profit. Thus, adopting this modern concept of power system is not
only beneficial for consumers but also to the utilities. Figure 1.2 Modern Concept of Power System

The Merriam Webster Online Dictionary defines professionalism as the conduct, aims, or qualities
that characterize or mark a profession or a professional person. Yet the White Paper on Pharmacy

To help keep prestige in the pharmacy profession, family physicians should no longer prescribe
medications and should only write the ailment on the prescription. This would allow pharmacists,
who are the drug experts, to prescribe the drugs. This only makes sense to let doctors figure out
what is wrong and the pharmacist to make the correct decision on the prescription. Half the time
the pharmacist has to call the doctor anyways because they prescribed the wrong medicine or the
wrong dosage. The other allegation of pharmacists tricking patients into declining their
counseling is hilarious in my opinion. This scenario is like any other prejudice view, a couple
of bad pharmacists make the entire profession look bad. Although I have never worked in a
pharmacy, I would rather believe that a pharmacist would not do that to a patient. I have more
faith in the profession. If, however, this is a common practice, there is not really much anyone
can do about it. The only thing you can do is be the best pharmacist you can be, and if you do the
right thing people will follow you and do the right thing. Being a professional does not
automatically gain a person prestige. Prestige is earned by the amount of time and effort it took
to get to where you are at. The knowledge needed to keep drugs from interacting and making sure
people are safe should be how prestige of pharmacists is scored, not by how

The Problems With Common Core State Standards (CCSS) Essay
Although most senators, representatives and school officials support common core state standards
(CCSS), they have not received or researched the history of how CCSS introduced itself.
Furthermore, they do not understand that local control is being taken away, which results in the
eventual destruction of excellent, local schools, students, and future generations. Two private trade
organizations located in Washington, D.C, wrote the CCSS at the request of Achieve, a company
created by Bill and Melinda Gates. Thus, CCSS did not arise from the state level but of an

This amendment pushed Ohio into the wrong direction especially in regards to protecting a student
s privacy.
Although Ohio s governor, Ted Strickland, signed and agreed to adopt a set of national standards
in June 2009 to obtain 400 million dollars in Race To The Top (RTTT) money, he had not read or
reviewed these standards as the completed CCSS were not published until July 2009. The Standards
simply passed through the Ohio Congress without knowing the dangers. According to the article
Myths versus Facts written by an anti CCSS group called Truth in American Education, most states
implemented Common Core to be eligible to compete [in] the federal Race to Top Funding. At the
request of Achieve Inc., the National Governor s Association (NGA) and the Chief Counsel of State
School Officers (CCSSO) wrote national standards called CCSS. David Coleman, the new president
of the State College Boards, admits that he had to sell these national standards to the governors.
Although Coleman does not have any background in education, he received instruction to rewrite
the SAT and ACT to align these national tests to the Common Core State Standards. The question
remains as to whether CCSS began as a state led initiative or were established unconstitutionally?
Did the 200 million dollars that Ohio received upon signing and the promise of an additional 200
million dollar at the full implementation of Common Core influence the

Karol s brothers died. Soon after, Karol was confirmed at Wadowita High School, at age

Explain The Panama Canal Modernization
Introduction:
In this assignment I will first explain the Panama Canal modernization and then I will discuss
about the industry experts/forecasters prediction about its impact on east and west coast of U.S.
followed by the detailed analysis to evaluate the accuracy of the prediction. Furthermore, based on
the analysis, I will present my opinion for rejecting or agreeing with the forecaster s prediction of
the panama canal s positive impact on intermodal traffic market share of east coast ports and west
coast ports, western railroad of U.S.
Overview:
The Panama Canal expansion is one of the biggest developments in maritime trade in last few
decades. When the canal first opened in 1914, it reduced 8,500 miles and several weeks of transit ...

ports to gulf or east coast U.S. ports as a result of Panama Canal expansion.
Most businesses in the area numbered as 5, currently rely on West Coast ports to receive goods
namely Los Angeles Long Beach, Oakland, Seattle, and Vancouver. After the Panama Canal
expansion, shipping through the East Coast will be especially attractive to businesses that are more
price sensitive and less time sensitive.
Therefore, for companies in the 5th region, it will become cheaper to handle goods through East
Coast ports, although doing so will add a few weeks to the total transit time but a justification for
this potential switch will highly depend on a company s time preferences, price sensitivity, and
costs of working capital.
Thus, there is a prediction from forecasters that, that West Coast ports and western railroads would
see a significant drop in intermodal traffic market share. Eastern and Southern ports and railroads,
on the other hand, would see a corresponding increase.
Analysis to find out accuracy of the prediction:
So, after 18 months, is the prediction

The Color Purple Analysis
Thinking Ahead of Her Times
Treating women properly with dignity and respect has commonly been an issue because it has
been a constant struggle for them to gain it throughout history. This controversy goes way back to
the early twentieth century and in The Color Purple by Alice Walker, we clearly see how women
are not given the respect or dignity they deserve. Although people seem to not recognize it as a
problem, this issue must be addressed. In The Color Purple one definitely sees how Celie
represents a repressed woman and how she learns to fight back over time to overcome her struggles
in life.
In The Color Purple, Celie a young black girl who lived in Georgia was very bright and wrote
countless letters to God. These letters contained horrid experiences Celie went through. She was
constantly subjected to abuse and told she was ugly. So these letters became an outlet for her to
cope with her situation. The letters also show how Celie has pulled through numerous struggles
she endured starting from the age of 14 and ending up into her mid forties. Although Celie has her
doubt that God even takes her concerns into consideration, these letters serve as a type of therapy
to help her ease her suffering. Having gone through countless unbelievable troubles, Celie feels she
can express her private thoughts and feelings freely. Celie knows that Nettie, her dear sister is not
receiving the letters as Mr. _____ hides them from Nettie so that she cannot receive them.

16th Century Wicca Witchcraft
The topic of religion is very controversial and at times, is seen as something negative. The
practice of witchcraft can be considered unholy and pure evil to some, but to others, it is a religion

Christian traditions that practices modern witchcraft. Witchcraft is often referred to the human
usage of supernatural powers for the malevolent purpose of practicing black magic( History and
Background of Wicca). The acceptance of those who were involved in sorcery was difficult for the
people of Great Britain. The negative reactions and thoughts affected the members of Wicca in
numerous ways. The practices of witchcraft in Great Britain lead to the influences and modern day
practices of the witches in the religion of Wicca.
In the 16th century, witchcraft became popular because people believed it had a better explanation
of unexpected unfortunate events, rather than the working of God s will ( Witchcraft ). It is

The Wicked Witch and Snow White Essay
The Wicked Witch and Snow White
Edith Wharton presents two memorable characters in her novel, Ethan Frome. The reader is
presented with Mattie Silver who is young, and good natured, and Zeena Frome, who is a bitter
hypochondriac seven years her husband s senior. Upon a first inspection, Zeena Frome and Mattie
Silver of Edith Wharton s Ethan Frome seem to be extreme opposites in every respect, but upon
closer scrutiny, one finds though they are indeed different in character, though they eventually
share great similarities. Zeena and Mattie s differences in appearance and character, but similarity
of fate, all contribute to the theme of the novel which is that one cannot escape the social class one
is born in.

Within the first five chapters, Edith Wharton establishes the stark physical differences between
young, gay Mattie Silver and unattractive, gloomy Zeena Frome.
Mattie and Zeena differ in character as much as they differ in appearance. A great hobby of
Zenna s was to find faults with others, though her fault finding was of the silent kind, but not the
less penetrating for that. Zeena also had an obstinate silence that frightened Mattie as well as
her husband. Ethan s wife was also a great cause of irritation for him: When she spoke, it was
only to complain, and to complain of things not in his power to remedy. Of late... her silence had
begun to trouble him... and wondered if Zeena was turning queer. At other times her silence
seemed deliberately assumed to conceal far reaching intentions, mysterious conclusions drawn
from suspicions and resentments impossible to guess. Zeen was a woman turned bitter by too
much strife and too little reward. The location of the farm isolated her from her neighbors, so she
rarely could socialize with others. Having nothing better to do, Zeena gives her own health
fanatical attention. She is occupied constantly with new pills, stomach powders and books on
diseases of the liver. Mattie Silver, however, was still young and full of hope and joy. Her small lot
of suffering had just enough to give her a sense of appreciation

The Respectable and Noble Actions of Gimpel Illustrated in...
Gimpel the Fool , by Isaac Bashevis Singer, tells the tale of a Jewish baker living in the
traditional Jewish village of Frampol. Raised an orphan, Gimpel never had anyone to stop him
when others were leading him into being fooled. As he grew up, his gullibility earned him the title
the Fool , and the entire village of Frampol referred to him as such. But was he truly the fool
everyone made him up to be? In his youth, Gimpel was picked on and made fun of for being
easily fooled. Gimpel, however, was rarely unaware of his peers intent. Gimpel simply preferred to
avoid confrontation and simply let them take advantage of [him] (96). This purposeful show of
pacifism does not make Gimpel a fool, but quite the opposite. And even though if... Show more

immensely important event. Then he would truly have been a fool. Then, after he visits the

Some may think Gimpel foolish for kissing the wall, however, there is no harm in kissing it
anyway, and it is more logical to just kiss it than risk offending the rabbis and others. Then the
villagers proposed to Gimpel that he marry Elka, a woman known to be a prostitute as well as
having borne a bastard child, whom the villagers said was her younger brother. Gimpel was
outraged and said that he would never marry that whore (97). Then they accuse him of giving

What Is Light Skin Complexion
In fact, light skin complexion was added to slave s population due to white slaves owners
having unconsented sexual relations with African women (Russell, Wilson, Hall, 1993). At any
day or time female slaves was subjected to sexual relations with their masters or white slaves
owners. This act of sexual relations created generations of descendants of lighter shades of skin.
Light skin complexion was referred to as Mulattos in which they were half African and half white

In practice however, admission to be a blue vein society depended not on family background but

In today s society dark skin men and women conceptualize that light skin is more acceptable.

King Pyrrhus Epicus Battle
You have won the battle, but what has been lost? A Pyrrhic victory is when something in won, but

fighting too formidable a foe. King Pyrrhus army was very large. It consisted of between 25,000
30,000 trained individuals. This army included footmen, archers, slingers, horsemen, and elephants.

The Sapir Whorf Hypothesis And Arguments For And Against It
For all humans, language is the most common means of communication with others and it enables
us to share our experiences and stories and to tell about our needs and feelings. For example,
Yamamoto states that sociolinguistics see, it is primarily through the use of language that people
communicate with each other (1979: 146). We all speak one or more languages and as the main
way of communication it is an important and vital part of our lives. There is many languages in the
world and they differ from one another in many ways. But does the languagewe speak reflect to the
way we see and experience the world around us? This paper will explore the question through the
Sapir Whorf hypothesis and arguments for and against it.
The Sapir Whorf hypothesis mentioned above is based on the ideas of Edward Sapir and Benjamin
Whorf who studied aboriginal languages among Native American tribes, mostly the Hopi. They
believed that the language one speaks is directly related to the way they understand the reality
and see the world. For example, Whorf once wrote we dissect nature along lines laid down by our
native languages (Whorf cited in Salzmann 1993: 153) which led to Zdenek Salzmann s
conclusion of Whorf s ideas: Difference among languages must therefore be reflected in the
differences in the worldviews of their speakers (1993: 156). This hypothesis has been challenged
many times by several anthropologists and linguists and there are arguments and evidence for and
against it.

The Pros And Cons Of The Crusades
The Crusades were a series of wars inspired by conflicting religious ideologies, specifically
between Christians and Muslims. A series being, that between the years 1096 and 1291, nine major
military expeditions occurred. Christian Muslim interactions between the 1000 1500 centuries were
mostly negative then positive. The justification for war included securing and gaining control of the
holy lands or territories sacred to both groups (Damascus, The River Jordan, Jerusalem, and
numerous others) and to diffuse or universalize their religious ideologies to those living in the
eastern hemisphere. Jerusalem was considered the holiest of all sites, because it was significantly
important to both religions, in different ways. To Christians, Jerusalem represents; the place of
birth, ministry, crucifixion, and resurrection of Jesus of Nazareth, the Savior or Messiah to
Christianity. However, to Muslims, Jerusalem houses the Al Aqsa Mosque (the third holiest site in
Islam), in which they believe Muhammad was transported to during the Night Journey (a physical
and spiritual journey) from the Sacred Mosque in Mecca. Islamic hero or leader of the Crusades,
Saladin, is credited with re conquesting Jerusalem from the Christians, uniting Muslim fractions
and states, while enabling and promoting Islamic faith and practices to exist in Jerusalem. Saladin
was born in 1138, to a military family, in Tikrit (modern day Iraq). He gained his dominance among

The main two ways are environmental and genetic. Environmental defects are ones that are caused
by the infant s environment either in utero or after the birth. These could range from drug induced

birth defects can be presented. The most common and accepted ones are structural and functional
/developmental birth defects. Structural abnormalities are defects that occur in the structure or
body parts of the infant (5). These could include cleft lip, heart defects, spina bifida, or anyone
that challenges the normal growth of the infant internally or externally. Functional/developmental
defects are associated with any abnormality that alters how a body part or body system works (5).
These most commonly lead to intellectual and developmental disorders. The most common
developmental defects are nervous system or brain problem, sensory problems, degenerative

  • 2. Right To Free Speech Persuasive Speech The right to free speech is one of the most precious rights an individual has as a citizen of the United States of America. This right gives people the opportunity to speak their mind and give their opinions of what they think should happen. These rights have been questioned and exercised throughout history, and have produced extremely positive things in a lot of cases. In modern times, people are always protesting something and in the colonial times it was the same. People wanted their voice to be heard and as long as it is done in a peaceful manner it is legal now, but it resulted in punishment for the colonists. People have never questioned whether or not these rights should exist, the questions involve whether there should be limits or not. No matter what side the authorities take, there are only two main points to deal with cyberstalking: free speech is an essential right, but it should not be meant to include hate speech. A system that tolerates hate speech is probably superior to the alternatives, but defenders of an absolute right can t pretend no one gets hurt. Epps (2014) suggested that free speech does do harm and it has to be defended: hate speech may be for individual members of minorities or other targeted groups, its toleration is to their great collective benefit. What Epps means is that hate speech can cause people harming themselves or most of them decide to end their lives. For example, this goes back to the boy name Roy that committed suicide after his girlfriend kept sending him multiple text messages, The judge said he did not take into account in his verdict Roy s previous suicide attempts (Truesdell, Pennington, Hanlon, 2017). What the writer seem to suggest might have been perceived as of how many times the boy tried to kill himself but failed until the last time he did it. Finally, Hate speech is often misunderstood because it can be classified as either careless or intentionally hurtful. Many people interpret careless statements as acts of aggression, but with good reason. It would be false to say that the freedom of speech has never been manipulated to inflict damage upon others. Questions have been risen of what hate speech is and if it should be allowed to be viewed by ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 3. My Friend As A Friend As a child growing up you meet many people that you like. Everyone tends to make your day from the kind stranger whom gave you a dollar at the grocery store to your neighbor that lets you pet their dog. As I ve gotten older I ve grown to love people more than like. Moreover, I have made many long term friendsand continue to do so. I ve always been a social person so making good quality friends has never been a problem. As my mom would say, I have never met a stranger. Now that I am a freshman in college and making more friends than ever. Although I ve only been here for three weeks, I have a large circle of friends that I like very much. Since then, the circle has gotten smaller. Now, there is one person that I do like the most, Vanessa Rodgers. In fact, Vanessa is one of my twelve close friends that I have made since I first got to Grambling State University. Since being her friend I have learned that she is also from my hometown, Houston, Texas. Vanessa is the opposite of me on the surface but we do share very many similarities. Besides our place of origin, we re also very sarcastic and hilarious. Our friends and strangers alike say that we re good people to be around. Always making someone laugh or if you ever need a friend to talk to, Vanessa is the person I call on. She has a very high pitch squeaky voice that makes everything she say sound so much better. Everyone gets tickled every time she opens her mouth to speak. Vanessa always has to get the last word and ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 4. The American Red Cross (ARC) The American Red Cross (ARC) has long faced multiple ethical dilemmas associated with various aspects of its operations. The Food and Drug Administration (FDA) has been closely scrutinizing the organization related to its blood donation services (Ferrell, Fraedrich, Ferrell, 2015). In Canada, over 1,000 people; mostly hemophiliacs dependent on life saving blood clotting products, have been infected by HIV tainted transfusions and more than 500 Canadian hemophiliacs have subsequently died of AIDS as a result of contaminated blood from the Red Cross (Grace, 1995). These accusations were related to mismanagement of screenings and blood collections as well as failing to discard potentially unsafe donations. Many speculate that these issues arose... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... After the debacle with the blood, they development and implementation of standardized and more uniform history questionnaires to help to ensure that they are maintaining the same standards across all collection sites (Zou, Eder, Musavi, Notari IV, Fang, Dodd (2007). The changes that were made to the Code of Business Ethics and Conduct in January of 2007 now requires that all employees read and sign the two page document stating and acknowledging understanding of the company s expectations. They also implemented a 24 hour anonymous call line where anyone can call to voice concerns about the organization. They also published an Ethics Rules and Policies statement that outlines the details about how business will be conducted regarding business funds, property, allocation of time, addressing conflicts of interest, recordkeeping and the handling of media inquiries (Ferrell, Fraedrich, Farrell, 2015). While those are all effective tools to manage what has happened in the past, the ARC will also need to ensure that they are not allowing anything to damage their reputation going forward. To do this, they will need to be diligent in their hiring practices; ensuring that they are following the same policy and procedures for each employee and that expectations are laid out regarding ethical behavior from the very beginning of employment. They will need to, at least yearly, revisit ethical responsibility topics with all employees to keep those skills fresh and on the forefront of everyone s mind. It will be imperative for the company to continue to build itself back up from its previous failures and to ensure that they have learned from their ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 5. Descriptive Essay On A Day At The Restaurant As I become more occupied cleaning glasses, I have less time to talk to customers and coworkers. I continue to listen to and chime in on the conversations people share at the bar. There is the constant background noise of the dishwasher going, people talking in other dining rooms, and background music. The dishwasher lets out a muffled humming noise that only I really can hear while it s functioning. Even when it seems to obnoxiously rage with sound, no one at the bar ever notices. The television above my head constantly screens some sort of sporting event. There s no sound coming from this, so people can hear the Motown music played throughout the restaurant. On the back of my pants I have a buzzer attached that lets me know when people at the bar s food or to go orders are up. When the kitchensignals my buzzer, I quickly head into the server station and pick up a black, non skid server tray. I go down to the kitchen, which exudes smells of numerous different types of cuisines, and pick up the food ready to be served. I set a large chicken Florentine pizza on a pizza stand for a couple, a pizza composed of chicken breast, tomato, red onion, and spinach on mozzarella. As I hand the two customers fresh cracked black pepper to sprinkle, I hear a glass crash against the wooden floor in the 200s dining room, the largest section in the middle of the upstairs. A champagne flute slid off one of the busboy s tray and broken into what seems like a billion different pieces across the ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 6. Why Be An Educated Person Essay Why be an educated person? The term education can mean many things. An education is the collective knowledge a person has, but what does an education mean? Although an education can be paid for, no one can physically give you an education, so it is not a gift. There are societal situations where an education is a necessity, but not many globally. Education is a tool to be utilized differently in every part of the world. Knowledge is power, but some knowledge is more powerful depending on your region. If you are part a primitive tribe in New Guinea, a person that is considered to be educated may be illiterate. Whereas in America, an illiterate person would have trouble functioning at all in society. Education is a tool that is to be ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... This situation exemplifies the problems that one can face when an education is desired but outside scarcities disallow. There are some circumstances where special educational aspects are a necessity in a certain region, but education is not global. In most developed countries a lawyer would be considered an educated person, but if a lawyer was sent to a more primitive society he would be lost. A farmer educated in cultivation in Nebraska could nourish himself indefinitely, but take away his farm and he has nothing but the knowledge of farming. There are certain things that a person must know in order to have the power to survive in a chosen society. These things change with regards to the society at hand. In more developed places it is pertinent that you know how to read. Without this skill a person will remained severely uninformed, disconnected, and uneducated. The ability to read is the stepping stone to self education. A literate person with motivation and knowledge of construction can become successful with very little institutionalized education. This skill, as it applies to American social culture, is the most important attribute of an education. Without the ability to read, a person would have to either settle for an extremely unskilled job, grow their own food, or resort to thievery. In a accomplished society such as ... • 7. Resistance in a Wire Coursework Resistance in a Wire Coursework In this investigation we are trying to look for resistance in a piece of wire, and how the length of a wire can increase or decrease the resistance. The things that affect the resistance in a wire are: the length of the wire a certain amount of wire cross sectional area of the wire (thickness) temperature material What things can affect the resistance in a wire? The temperature can affect the resistance in a wire, because the more thermal energy a component has the more the atoms within it will vibrate and get in the path of the free electrons, so the higher the temperature, more resistance is being produced. Material can affect the resistance due to the number of free ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The thickness of the wire decreases. Once you have figured out the thickness of the wire (length x width), you will be able to calculate the ohms law. Prediction My prediction for this experiment is, once the length of the wire increases, so will the resistance. What my results show me My results show me that once the readings on the ammeter and the voltage increase, so will the resistance, because of this we decided to increase the length of wire used by 10cm each time a reading was recorded. Method 1.Set up the series circuit. 2.Connect the crocodile clip to 30cm along the wire. 3.Switch on the power supply. 4.Record readings from the ammeter and voltmeter. 5.Switch off the power supply. 6.Repeat the stages of 2 6 three times at length 30cm intervals up to 1 metre. What I did and why I kept my experiment a fair test in the following ways: I did not change any parts of the circuit (wires, ammeter, voltmeter or battery pack) in between the measurements this would have prevented small discrepancies between circuit components from affecting the results. When taking the measurements from the voltmeter and ammeter, I waited for the reading to settle completely. If it didn t settle, then I would have made an estimate of the middle value being shown. Waiting for the reading to settle prevented accidentally taking a reading while the value is fluctuating randomly when the power is first turned ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 8. Difference Between Modern And Mendeleev Periodic Table Over so many years the periodic table has changed in many years. In the modern periodic table the elements are arranged in order of increasing atomic numbers. In mendeleev s periodic table they were in arranged in order of increasing atomic weight. The difference in the modern and mendeleev periodic table n 1869, just five years after John Newlands put forward his law of octaves, a Russian chemist called Dmitri Mendeleev published a periodic table. Mendeleev also arranged the elements known at the time in order of relative atomic mass, but he did some other things that made his table much more successful. In the modern periodic there are families and periods.there are seven horizontal rows of elements called periods. The vertical columns of elements are called groups, or families. The Matrix. Mendeleev s periodic table presented a new paradigm, with all of the elements positioned within a logical matrix.. Mendeleev had written the properties of elements on pieces of card and tradition has it that after organising the cards while playing patience he suddenly realised that by arranging the element cards in order of increasing ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Sometimes this method of arranging elements meant there were gaps in his horizontal rows or periods . But instead of seeing this as a problem, Mendeleev thought it simply meant that the elements which belonged in the gaps had not yet been discovered. He was also able to work out the atomic mass of the missing elements, and so predict their properties. And when they were discovered, Mendeleev turned out to be right. For example, he predicted the properties of an undiscovered element that should fit below aluminium in his table. When this element, called gallium, was discovered in 1875, its properties were found to be close to Mendeleev s predictions. Two other predicted elements were later discovered, lending further credit to Mendeleev s ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Ford Motor Company is rolling out a new driver assist system that can reduce the severity of or even eliminate some frontal collisions involving vehicles and pedestrians. Pre Collision Assist with Pedestrian Detection uses radar and camera technology to scan the roadway ahead and, if a collision risk with a vehicle or pedestrian is detected, provides a warning to the driver. It was of course censored to slaves and left out some very meticulous details but it still had that feel of racism, the stereotypes, and all the things that had been labeled controversial, now and then. But regardless of these flaws I kept reading, as it was the first novelthat I had read that really hooked me in and left me with a real sense of American pride. This American pride is also something that I will forever remember as it is not only a main focus, but is the biggest part of the argument for being the great American novel. It s sense of adventure and freedom left me and I m sure people with the feeling that anything was possible through freedom and adventure, the very things symbolized my America. So, really it s a no brainer for me. It would be an absolute travesty to remove Huckleberry Finn from our curriculum as it offers so much and portrays the real life that existed for African Americans during the 1840s. It has adventure, daring, morals, complex emotions, and most of all an overtone of American pride that can always be useful to younger generations that are still learning the term. Sure, there are other books that could tell the story of how wrong slavery is and the evils of racism but I believe that what Huckleberry Finn brings to the table is to much to ... The article indicates that some individuals believe that teens should be allowed to vote while other don t believe that they should. After reading the article and seeing the pros and cons of students votingone can infer that it won t be a good idea for students to vote. Many people agree that teen should be allowed to vote, but why. Teens are still young kids who still are not matured enough to help shape the world. They are not at the ageto vote. Being able to vote for them will seem like a joke. They won t take it seriously. If teens are allowed to vote many won t even take time and think about what is the best decision for them. Think about it this way as a teen when a teacher would tell you to make up your mind if you wanna see the movie the Lion King or Home Alone. A teen will talk it out with their friends and their vote will be influenced by others. They will raise their hand to the one the friend chooses. Well same as voting their vote won t really be accurate of what they think. They won t know who to vote for and will just vote on what a friend is voting for. Teens are still too young to vote. The Complex Adaptive System Of A Healthcare Organization The key to the success of a healthcare organization is defined by the many qualities and attributes its leaders possess when overseeing patient care. Such care, whether executed at the micro, meso, or macro level, can be beneficial to an organization, or results in the failure when change is inappropriately addressed. A strong leader is one who can manage change, and direct care throughout all the numerous levels of an organization by utilizing values that are a reflection of the bureaucratic thoughts and principles, or the complex adaptive system. The complex adaptive system is a comprehensive system that is complicated in nature and often can cause chaos and the failure of an organization when change is not properly managed. During my professional career, I have observed many styles of managementskills and found this to work both against an organization and as well as, prove beneficial when handling change. The overall success of any organization is dependent upon the quality attributes of its leaders. I believe the complex adaptive method is a control method that forces the good employees away. A prime example of this style of management was observed with the launching of computerizing charting. What made the Civil War such a massacre? The Civil War was such a bloodbath because the technological advances were so far superior to the tactics of the infantry, that the weapons virtually obliterated the soldiers. Soldiers would form lines known as a battalions. In these battalions, soldiers would basically march to their deaths. In addition to weapons doing so much damage, fortification on the battlefield was far more advanced than had ever been before. This weapon consisted of 25 rifled barrels side by side that, when primed, were set off by a lanyard to inflict massive damage over a small range of territory.7 The Union forces also produced many long range artillery weapons. Unlike the Confederates, who used Howitzers; the Union Army used mortars. The short squat mortar, as it was called, was originally used by the Ottoman s in 1453. The mortars operated by the Union were primarily used to hurl shells over walls or into large concentrations of enemy soldiers. In addition to lobbing bombs over walls, the mortars were also extremely effective in dismantling naval forces. The mortars could be shot from miles inland, therefore Confederate naval forces never saw the bombs coming. The mortar weighed 17,120 pounds and could fire a 220 pound bomb 4,325 yards. President Abraham Lincoln was the foremost topic of importance when regarding the causes for the crisis and war that took place in the United States presented by Douglass contemporaries. They claimed that before Lincoln s presidency there was tranquility among the states: Before Lincoln there was a peace; after Lincoln there was rebellion (Shi, Mayer, 2013, p. 433). Ironically, the first task on Lincoln s agenda for his presidency was focusing on maintaining peace within the states: he was devoted to peace (Tindall, Shi, 2013, p.494). Lincoln opted to make a statement during his inauguration promising that he would remain out of the affairs of the southern slave states and their slave business: Lincoln repeats his pledge not to interfere with the institution of slavery in the states where it exists (Tindall, Shi, 2013, p.495). However, Lincoln did not tolerate the secession of the southern states saying it was unlawful and that he would continue the same policies of taxes, tariffs, etc. that had been set in place before his presidency. Elle studies hard, forgets about Warner, and ends up graduating as valedictorian with job offers from multiple prestigious law firms. While making audiences laugh, the movie also inspired those who were undervalued and doubted by others to go to college, with the message that if they studied and worked hard enough, anything is possible. However, regardless of work ethic and intelligence, this aspiration is impossible for most. Even if one is accepted into their dream university, there is still the underlying issue of how they will pay for their education. For many, college is an important step in achieving success, but paying for a high quality college education is impossible. Even for those who find a way to pay, their chances of success are sabotaged by the price of their degree, despite the importance of a college education. Thus, God reveals His attribute of love through Jesus Christ (John 3:16) while Jesus displays the attribute of God s love through the crucifixion (John 15:13), and the Holy Spirit makes the attribute known through the regeneration (Titus 3:5) of the believer (Dockery, 1992). Furthermore, love itself is in triunity; hence, there must be the lover, the love, and the loved (Conner, 1980, p. 53). In the Godhead, the attribute of God s love finds a perfect expression (Matthew 3:16; John 14:31) in the triunity of the Father who is the lover, the Son who is the loved, and the Holy Spirit who is love (Conner, 1980, p. 53). Thus, the Father who so loved (John 3:16) gave the Son his love (Colossians 1:13) and the love of the Spirit (Romans 15:30; Galatians 5:22) which is expressed to mankind not only in creation but in redemption where the invisible is made visible (Conner, 1980). Adding to the complexity of God s love is the fact that the attribute of God s love is not easily seen in the Holy Spirit as the Holy Spirit never truly reveals Himself to human consciousness; hence, the ... Babe Ruth replied to this question by saying Well, I had a better year. For a while, athletes demanded and received salaries so out of proportion with an average salary. What makes modern times different is that professional sport players are pulling in an insane amount of money, compared to athletes that played the same sport in previous generations. Fifty years ago, only the outfielders who hit 40 homeruns would make a huge salary. Now, however, the normal infielder who comes in as a replacement three times a week makes ten times more than an average working man. In 1979 Nolan Ryan broke ground, he became the first athlete to receive a $1 million a year contract. I think that the contracts of professional athletes have gone unchecked for too long, and now athletes are one of the wealthiest people in our nation. He and his mother were but simple Dysart folk that brought no harm to anyone, but harm unfortunately came their way in the form of the mother becoming very ill with a stroke. • 52. The Sapir Whorf Hypothesis And Arguments For And Against It For all humans, language is the most common means of communication with others and it enables us to share our experiences and stories and to tell about our needs and feelings. For example, Yamamoto states that sociolinguistics see, it is primarily through the use of language that people communicate with each other (1979: 146). We all speak one or more languages and as the main way of communication it is an important and vital part of our lives. There is many languages in the world and they differ from one another in many ways. But does the languagewe speak reflect to the way we see and experience the world around us? This paper will explore the question through the Sapir Whorf hypothesis and arguments for and against it. The Sapir Whorf hypothesis mentioned above is based on the ideas of Edward Sapir and Benjamin Whorf who studied aboriginal languages among Native American tribes, mostly the Hopi. They believed that the language one speaks is directly related to the way they understand the reality and see the world. For example, Whorf once wrote we dissect nature along lines laid down by our native languages (Whorf cited in Salzmann 1993: 153) which led to Zdenek Salzmann s conclusion of Whorf s ideas: Difference among languages must therefore be reflected in the differences in the worldviews of their speakers (1993: 156). This hypothesis has been challenged many times by several anthropologists and linguists and there are arguments and evidence for and against it. ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

The justification for war included securing and gaining control of the holy lands or territories sacred to both groups (Damascus, The River Jordan, Jerusalem, and numerous others) and to diffuse or universalize their religious ideologies to those living in the eastern hemisphere. Jerusalem was considered the holiest of all sites, because it was significantly important to both religions, in different ways. To Christians, Jerusalem represents; the place of birth, ministry, crucifixion, and resurrection of Jesus of Nazareth, the Savior or Messiah to Christianity. However, to Muslims, Jerusalem houses the Al Aqsa Mosque (the third holiest site in Islam), in which they believe Muhammad was transported to during the Night Journey (a physical and spiritual journey) from the Sacred Mosque in Mecca. Islamic hero or leader of the Crusades, Saladin, is credited with re conquesting Jerusalem from the Christians, uniting Muslim fractions and states, while enabling and promoting Islamic faith and practices to exist in Jerusalem.
