3. The Path of Recovery Is for Everyone
Hardships are terrible but a normal part of everybody s life. No matter what the hardship was or is,
anybody can recover. In the books and movie we have viewed in class, they show issues to the
extreme. When Jeannette escapes the depths of Welch and her parents, her life was smooth sailing
afterwards. When you have a life as traumatizing as hers, It is expected for more struggles to occur
later in life. Not everybody will be as fortunate as her and trot with no regression. Lily ran away from
home with no clue where she was headed, other than a town written on a picture. Liz had drug
addicted parents and no plans on education. She reached a life altering decision and started going to
school again. This lead to her ultimate goal of going to college, and at one of the most profound ones
in the United States. If these three girls can overcome the intense situations they endured, anybody
can. Jeannette was an average girl, brought up in an environment where moving every few weeks was
acceptable. She never had any thing stable in her life, and basically had to raise herself with the help
of her brother and sister. Neither parent was loving or caring in any ways. No matter how big a
struggle, they always had to act as they were living life to the fullest. Jeannette states this by saying
We were always supposed to pretend our life was one long and incredibly fun adventure. (Walls 69.)

Oklahoma City Bombing Rhetorical Analysis The Oklahoma City Bombing would be considered the

those 168 being children. The explosion caused damage to 300 surrounding buildings. Oklahoma City
was going through a tragedy and needed guidance from a leader.

Today our nation joins with you in grief. We mourn with you. We share your hope against hope that
some may still survive. In this statement, he is using a pathos appeal to make his audience feel one
with their nation by their shared emotions of remorse and sadness, Oklahoma is not the only state that
is grieving. America has lost many sons and daughters. By using the words grief and mourn Clinton
shows how tragic and emotional the current event is and shows that he can interpret and understand
exactly what his audience is going through. Clinton reminds them that he will be there for them for
every step of the difficult process.
Another way Clinton uses pathos is when he tries to comfort the people who have lost loved ones by
saying, You have lost too much, but you have not lost everything. Clinton lets the audience know that
they have people that will help them through this hard time and they have the nation behind them: You
have certainly not lost America, for we will stand with you for as many tomorrows as it takes. Clinton
ultimately reaches his goal of comforting his audience by using ethos and pathos strategies throughout
his speech. Clinton s next move was to give advice from someone who had been in a similar situation.
Referring to the letters he received after the bombing, Clinton explains that one letter in particular
stood out. Clinton gives words of wisdom from a widowed

This article addressed a study of a cognitive behavioral course to increase a sense of coherence (SOC)
and decrease perceived stress (PS). Low SOC and high PS are factors that lead to burnout and low job
satisfaction. They can also contribute to low quality of care and productivity. Therefore, it is expected
that if a nurse has high SOC and low PS, the nurse will have higher productivity and will be better at
managing stress. The study consisted of 36 nurses that had five or more years of experience and had
worked both as a bedside nurse and in an administrative role. They were divided into intervention and
control groups and all participants took surveys at the beginning of week one and the end of week 16
that included the Perceived Stress Scale (PSS) and the Profile of Mood States (POMS). The
intervention group participated in a cognitive behavioral (CB) interventions during three hour
seminars weekly for 16 weeks. The seminar topics addressed issues to modify negative thinking and
improve problem solving skills. They also learned relaxation skills that included breathing techniques
and progressive muscle training. Bias was avoided by having similar socio demographic

would benefit from the therapeutic use of prayer. This author would carefully incorporate the Biblical

13. Natural and Artificial Selection
Introduction
Many scientists in the past, such as Aristotle and Plato, believed that there were no changes in
populations; however, other scientists, such as Darwin and Wallace, arose and argued that species
inherit heritable traits from common ancestors and environmental forces drives out certain heritable
traits that makes the species better suited to survive or be more fit for that environment. Therefore,
species do change over a period of time and they were able to support their theory by showing that
evolution does occur. There were four basic mechanisms of evolution in their theory: mutation,
migration, genetic drift, and natural selection. Natural selection is the gradual process by which

We randomly selected 10 plants to be our parent generation for the control group and we chose 10
plants to be the experimental group. For the experimental group, we chose the 10 plants that had the
longest first true leaf petiole lengths because that was what we were trying to manipulate in this
experiment. We then took sticks with wires on them and carefully placed it where our chosen plants
were in order to enhance the survival of our plants because the plants needed support in order to grow.
In this experiment, we are trying to see if petiole length is a heritable and variable trait, so the
experimental group should have longer petiole lengths in the second generation, when we replant, and
the control should have a random variance since we did not select for the longest petiole lengths in our
parent generation. After our parent generation plants have grown and the flowers started to bloom, we
had to cross pollinate our plants in order for them interbreed with one another (Freeman, 2002). As
mentioned before, artificial selected trait may interbreed with one other in order to reinforce that those
desirable traits, in this case petiole length, will show up in the offspring (Artificial Selection). We were
able to interbreed our plants with one another by using a q tip. We took the cotton swab of the end of

17. The Attributes of a Registered Nurse
Question 1: What attributes are important for a registered nurse to have, and why are they important?
According to Mason, Isaacs and Colby (2011, p. 11), provision of care in the field of nursing requires
comprehensive nursing expertise, critical thinking, sound clinical judgement and a holistic overview
of health. Registered nurses need to possess a combination of key attributes when providing care,
because these attributes play a significant role in enhancing positive outcomes, not only for the
patients in their care but also the practitioner and the organisation. Nurses require sound time
management skills and an effective communication approach in order to improve the provision of
healthcare. Nurses often perform a leadership role in hands on patient care, which involves providing
patient care in different contexts to improve health outcomes. They require attributes that can lead to
ongoing research and learning, and the implementation of healthcare policy. Relevant attributes
include problem solving skills, the ability to critically analyse situations, the ability to absorb and
share knowledge, effective interpersonal skills, self confidence, leadership skills, and the ability to
cooperate in a team environment. Nurses require effective interpersonal skills to enable them to

22. Nihilism Essay
Nihilism as a philosophical idea was portrayed in Albert Camus The Fall, which our philosophy class
read earlier in the semester, the main character we will call the judge penitent. Essentially this idea
centered on humanity possessing self interest and in return for this possession morality is dubbed non
existent. A philosopher who rejected this idea was Aristotle, known for being Plato s student, and his
focus was on the universe. These two ideas clashed when it came to the meaning of happiness along
with other views which shall be discussed in this essay, mostly focusing on Aristotle s beliefs and how
they reject the views of the judge penitent. These views will include how to define happiness, what is
the core of human nature, and ethics ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
He also believes self interest is governed by seeking to fulfill certain bodily pleasures, such as power
over others, having this will lead to our happiness (Camus, 1956). Aristotle on the other hand believes
that human nature is focused on reaching an ultimate goal which he calls Eudaimonia meaning
happiness, also called the telos. Reaching this happiness depends solely on the goals of the individual
and is a process that never seems to end. Once reached maintaining happiness is a constant struggle
since Aristotle believes this feeling is temporary, however it strives us to be better than our past selves.
The key to happiness according to Aristotle is the use of reasoning in the right way. Obviously
Aristotle s views on happiness seems to be what modern society would agree with, however what
about the ethics of mankind and our moral virtues. To clearly see the viewpoints of Aristotle and judge
penitent let s examine a situation that happens on occasion in our daily lives. You are walking to a
destination and see two individuals of equal status arguing, but it escalates to a fist fight. What would
be your next move? The judge penitent would argue to just walk away and not bother in the matter,
since it could result in you being injured and you must look out for your own

23. Ambrose Burnside Research Paper
Ambrose Burnside was born on May 23, 1824 in Liberty, Indiana. He was the son of a farmer and a
court clerk. His father helped him get into the United States Military Academy at West Point in 1843.
He was almost expelled many times. He graduated from the academy in 1847, 18th in his class, of
thirtyeight students. During the Mexican American War Burnside was a second lieutenant in the 2nd
Artillery. After the war he founded a company named Bristol Rifle Works, the company made breech
loading rifles. Soon after his business failed and he went back into the military. When came back he
became a major general in the Rhode Island militia. As the Civil War began, Burnside led the Rhode

Union deaths. Ambrose had tried to gather his men for another attack, later known as the Mud March,

get rid of Burnside and replace him with General Joseph Hooker. He was assigned to take command
of the Department of Ohio on March 1863. He had cause many problems when he arrested Clement

24. Impact Of The Dodge Plan
POST WAR JAPAN S ECONOMIC MIRACLE The Dodge Plan of 1948 In the year 1947, Cold War
unrest had started building up in Eastern Asia that prompted the United States of America to revise its
policies towards Japan in order to accelerate its economic recovery. The Dodge Plan conceived by
Joseph Dodge in 1948 was implemented as a solution to bring Japan back to its complete strength and
economic recovery. The Dodge Plan focused on resolving the serious problem of inflation and
establishing a more stable Japan through three policies. First being a balanced budget, followed by
suspension of new loans from the Reconstruction Finance Bank (this source of supply of money was
identified as the root cause of inflation), and lastly, reducing as well as completely eliminating
subsidies. The above mentioned policies were identified to aid in accelerating the Japanese economy.
Dodge s policies caused problems along the way in its implementation but it created a path for
recovery without the help of America. The Japanese were encouraged to economize and accumulate
capital through such a policy. The Korean War Boom The initial spell of the implementation of the
Dodge Plan caused Japan to enter into recession, which resulted in an increase in ... Show more

25. Jean Kilbourne Two Ways A Woman Can Get Hurt Analysis
For many years now, the primary medium for advertisements has been television. A majority of
society has access to a TV, and because of this reality, producers promote their products via this media
outlet. However, are these companies just trying to sell their products? or they also advocate their
personal agendas upon the masses. Throughout history, the various media channels have influenced
society to believe or accept twisted fallacies. For instance, we assume that crime and violence are
running rampant because the News primarily covers violent and criminal activities. However, the
reality is crime and violence has been on a steep decline since the 1990 s. Still, the optimal way these
shows receive good ratings and views is through headlining ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net

the author, Jean Kilbourne, EdD, states that, Sex in advertising is pornographic because it
dehumanizes and objectifies people, especially women, and because it fetisheizes products, imbues
them with an erotic charge... (491). Kilbourne also believes the sexualization of ads promotes violence
against women; she presents the example of an Italian Vogue ad, which displayed a man pointing a
gun at a naked woman wrapped in plastic, and a purse covering her face (497). I believe if Kilbourne
were to view and respond to the Victoria s Secret, she might say the commercial, demoralizes and
objectifies women, focus heavily on sexual intimacy rather than emotional, and promotes a sense
violence against women. Additionally, in the essay, From Multicultural Barbie and the Merchandising
of Difference, the author, Ann DuCille, a former chair and director of the center for African American
Studies at Wesleyan University, discussed that the multicultural Barbie, though created to encourage
diversity and racial awareness of other cultures and ethnicities, it promotes racism by excluding true
cultural and ethnic characteristics from each multicultural Barbie (859). She further explains that doll
advocates an ideal body image of, mythically thin, long legged, luxuriously haired, buxom beauty...
which in turn might result in younger girls trying to mimic the Barbie lifestyle or image rather than,
being at peace with their own self. Not to mention the fact the multicultural Barbies are simply white
dolls with different shades of color, and exclude cultural character traits (861). I believe if DuCille
saw the Victoria s Secret ad, she would feel the ad excludes a good representation of all ethnicities,
because throughout the entire advertisement there was only one African American model, but she was
only shown for a mere two seconds. And DuCille might feel the perfect , tall, petite, and caucasian

27. Analysis Of Lennie In Of Mice And Men
Lennie: Perfectly Performed John Malkovich s first film was Places in the Heart, which was in 1984.
Eight years later he starred in Gary Sinise and Horton Footes adaptation of John Steinbeck s novella
Of Mice and Men. The directing from Sinise and Foote, with performance of John Malkovich as
Lennie made Lennie feel as if he was ripped out of the book and became a real person. This helps the
audience connect to Lennie s character, giving the readers/ viewers more empathy by slipping into the
shoes of Lennie. The Mannerisms, speech impediments, and how the directors use lighting made
Lennie s character genuine. Lennie has distinctive mannerisms, and traits in certain situations. After
the Red Dress scene, when George and Lennie get on the Train and they are getting ready to sleep, it
is very clear that Lennie copies multiple of George s actions. This shows right away that Lennie looks
up to George and thinks of George as a leader. Throughout the movie and especially highlighted when
George and Lennie are walking to the barn, Lennie is constantly pulling his overalls up. This could
imply that he doesn t know how to tighten his pants, or in the most extreme possibility, that George
might dress Lennie. With the inclusion of this idiosyncrasy it makes Lennie s character authentic
because of his normal day problems. Next, an ample amount of the time Lennie likes to hold his left
hand hovering in his chest region, Lennie doesn t let his hand drop. This illustrates Lennie s

i) Substantive Breach: If the reserve was properly created in accordance with the text of the treaty
there may not be a breach in the Crown s obligations. To create a reserve in accordance with the
Indian Act, the Supreme Court of Canada set out the requirements in the Ross River Deana Council
decision. These requirements, as applied by Wewaykum Indian Band v. Canada, include an act by the
Crown to set apart Crown land for use of an Indian band combined with an intention to create a
reserve on the part of persons having authority to bind the Crown and practical steps by the Crown
and the Indian band to realize that intention. The Crown set apart land to create a reserve when the
Indian Agent appointed a surveyor to survey land according to the entitlements in Treaty 7. The
Redfoot Nation realized these intentions when they were vocal regarding their dissatisfaction on the
location of the land, however practical steps were also taken by the Crown when the Superintendent
General of Indian Affairs moved the Redfoot to the surveyed lands for their use as a reserve.
Therefore, it appears that the Crown fulfilled the requirements and, as a result, the reserve identified as
IR 147 was properly created, fulfilling the substantive duties of the fulfillment of Treaty 7 to establish
a reserve in southern Alberta. b) Historical Context It appears that the Crown and the

33. Relationship Between Unemployment And Inflation

inflation and unemployment using ordinary least square technique. The model regress the inflation
rate against unemployment rate, and money supply over the period 1991 2014.
Model specification
Model specification
The study will use the time series data. This study investigates the relationship between
unemployment and inflation in Namibia depending on the formulation provided by Blanchard (2005).
The Phillips curve can be expressed in the following format:
_t π_t^e=β_1 (U_t U_(NR ) )+ e_t (6)
Where_t: The actual inflation rate at time t. π_t^e: The expected inflation rate at time t.
U_t: The actual unemployment rate prevailing at time t.
U_(NR ): The natural rate of unemployment at time t. e_t: The stochastic error term.
Since π_t^e is not directly observable, a simplifying assumption that _t=π_(t 1)^e is applied, which
means that the inflation rate expected that year is the inflation rate that prevailed in the previous year.
The Phillips relationship given in equation (6) is known as the modified Phillips curve or the
expectation augmented Phillips curve.
From equation 6 I obtained the linear equation 7, model to be used in the study.
_t π_t^e=β_1 (U_t U_(NR ) )+ e_t _t =β_(0 )+β_1 U_t + e_t (7)

Rather than government providing millions of dollars for the campaign and putting harsh restricts on
individual donations, I believe that the limits should not be put on the American people but on the
candidates themselves. Spending on the campaign has gotten out of control within the last decade.
Millions of taxpayer dollars are being spend on mobile campaigns, advertisements, and media
exposure. This funding could easily go towards other areas of society, benefiting the very people that
the candidates wish to govern. Rather than directing negative attention, I believe that candidates
should reach out to the public to gain support. Campaigning for presidency should not be about
winning or who raises the most money. Presidency should be about protecting and caring for the
American people. The conduct of campaigns should be monitored in order to limit spending and to
prevent negative advertising towards opposite candidates.
Candidates running for office should depend less on government funding and turn towards the public
for their support. Rather then concerning ourselves with prohibiting the use of soft money we should

35. Analysis Of The 17th And 17th Centuries By Ben Jonson
Plagiarism in the 17th and 18th Centuries
A line that appears on the cover page of Poetaster: A Comical Satyr, written in 1601 by Ben Jonson
(1572 1637), the English dramatist and poet, had appeared earlier in Martial s Book VII, Verse 12, an
epigram consisting of 99 verses. We know that Jonson used ideas taken from Ovid (Publius Ovidius
Naso, 43 BCE CE 17), Horace, and Seneca and that his name appears in investigations of plagiarism
in English literature. According to one source, Jonson invented the pejorative term playwright in 1687
to describe someone who had put together the work of others. Jonson alluded to the works of Horace
and Virgil and to Rome. Jonson wrote that the name Canidia was but a borrowed name and that the
ditty was borrowed. The words were Horace s, he stated, Hang him plagiary. This use of the term
plagiary appeared in 1601. It referred to someone who forcefully possessed another. It had appeared
earlier, in 1555, as plagiaire (French), and, in 1577, as plagium (Latin), translated as a net to entangle
game, but was used in English Civil Law when referring to kidnapping or man stealing. It appeared
also in July 1607, when Thomas Legge, Master of Gonville and Caius College, Cambridge, referred to
the fact that someone had kidnapped his ideas for a play, The Destruction of Jerusalem. The use of
Latin or French was common among the educated and upper classes of that time, many of whom
would have been familiar with one or both languages. Alexander Pope

have changed significantly over the past years. These changes have a major affect on relationships

disengagement and its relation to mainstream school. Disengaged youth are individual s aged between

in relation to interpersonal communication concepts and relative theories. I predict the lack of self
disclosure and deception will cause a problem between Greg and Jack when beginning their
relationship as son in law and father in law, which will also stress other personal relationships.
To begin, Meet the Parents is a film that was written by Jim Herzfeld and John Hamburg, and directed
by Jay Roach. The film is centered around two main characters, Gaylord Greg Focker, played by Ben
Stiller and Jack Byrnes, played by Robert DiNiro. Greg is a Jewish male nurse living in Chicago with
his Christian kindergarten teacher girlfriend Pam, Jack s daughter. Greg decides he wants to propose
to Pam, but his plans are halted when Pam s sister Debbie becomes engaged, and Greg learns that
Debbie s finance had asked Jack s permission before proposing. When Greg meets Pam s parents a
sequence of embarrassing and destructive events occurs. Throughout the film, Greg is seeking
approval and acceptance by Jack and the Byrnes family, but many mishaps ensue, and he
instantaneously becomes the prey to Jack, who in movie reveals that he is ex CIA.

40. The Importance Of Maths
For many students, maths is a language only spoken at school, but maths is a well spoken language in
my home. My mother s love for maths has inevitably infected me with the desire to solve problems
with logical reason. I feel that a solution to one question in maths may open up more questions
ranging in different domains of mathematics. Maths has helped me to discover different ways to
achieve solutions through alternate thinking and this is reminiscent of everyday life, where it is
advantageous to use effective and more efficient routes to overcome problems. I find that maths can
be embedded into many aspects of life, e.g. using the Pythagoras theorem to aid in designing a room.
Also, in biology, to find the variation in the distribution of a species, you can use standard deviation.
Maths encourages me to delve into divergent thinking. It thrills me that there is always more to learn
and the knowledge is never capped. Maths to me has acted as a mechanism for calming my busy
mind. For example, some people enjoy the tranquillity of music, whereas my music is maths.
Achieving the correct answer whenever I complete a maths question brings me great satisfaction,
which further increases my motivation towards further learning. I have always thought that once you
find that numbers are easy to work with, you develop an appetite to learn more about maths through
practice it will stick in your mind forever.
Chemistry works hand in hand with maths, it cannot work without it.
