How Philanthropy Is Morally Acceptable For Organizations...
Philanthropy is the desire of people, on their own accord, to promote a charity either by giving their
time, money, or talent. Philanthropy fills a big gap that the government either can t or won t provide.
However, does this necessity come with responsibilities? Is it mandatory for us to be active in
philanthropy and if it is, what type of charities is morally acceptable for donors to give money? Or to
Sandel s points in What Money Can t Buy, will bringing money into the situation have more negative
effects than positive?
One of the social purposes of philanthropy is to allow individuals to express their values. If people
value education, then they can give free tutoring to their local schools. If they are worried about the
literacy rate of their city, then they can raise money to provide the proper resources to raise the literacy
rate. If people value education, health, or arts they are able to give and invest their money to that area.
Philanthropy is also seen in many ways as a social good. Hence, it is logical that private sectors use
philanthropy to act in public ways. It shows their values and it shows that they are made of people that
care about the community. For example, when the oil spill happened in the Gulf of Mexico
dishwashing soaps would donate money if people bought their products and would show commercials
of their teams cleaning up animals from the oil spill. It was the dishwasher s brand way of saying that
they wanted to help the animals harmed by

Blood Bank History
Technology is a broad concept that helps humanity. Technological change has been the driving force
in the growth of our world today. People often forget that technology such as blood banks, radios, and
radars weren t easy to use as they are now. Within this paper I am going to discuss how blood banks
came about and evolved in the medical industry, how radios entertained and help send messages to the
public, and how radars were introduced to the war.
A blood transfusion is a safe, common procedure in which blood is given to you through an
intravenous (IV) line in one of your blood vessels. ( What Is a Blood Transfusion? NHLBI, NIH. U.S

At the start of the decade 12 million American households owned a radio, and by 1939 this total had
exploded to more than 28 million. Radios provided a great source of entertainment, but radios also
provided a way for communication like never before. Franklin Roosevelt s fireside chats helped the
population feel closer to their president than ever. By the end of the decade radio had exacted quite an
influence on the American media. Advertisers capitalised on radio s popularity and the idea of the
sponsor was born. Radio also helped establish the national broadcasting networks such as NBC and
CBS, still present to this day. After the 1930s the popularity of radio began to decline at the hands of
newer, more visual technologies. But the influence of the golden age of radio on the American way of
life will never be forgotten. ( Feature Radio In The 1930s. PBS. PBS, n.d. Web. 02 Oct.

Nacirema Summary And Analysis
When I first enrolled in this class, I never thought I would get anything out of it besides the
knowledge, which I found to be completely interesting. But now I can honestly say that this is
probably one of the most useful classes I could have possibly taken in college. We live in times where
people are very exclusive and frightened of what they do not know. It is in times like this when those
who possess knowledge must do everything in their power to be as inclusive and accepting as
possible. This class also showed me that we cannot categorize things as normal or not. Instead, we
should look through the beholder eyes and try to empathize in full measure.
To start, one article that really changed my perspective was the Nacirema one. When I first read it, I
thought those people the author was referring to acted strangely. Even though the author got his point
across in an exaggerated way, it really made me realize how unaware people can look when judging
others for not doing normal things, when in reality, the things those people consider normal , may be
strange for others.
Furthermore, in class activities further expanded my knowledge and allowed our group to
communicate our ideas freely. One particular example was from ... Show more content on

Both of them explained how essential the work of anthropologists is. I do not think many people are
willing to go to isolated places and learn a completely new culture, but anthropologists do so in many
ways. For example, those who use the etic perspective are able to emerge in a culture and become part
of it. On the other hand, those who use the emic perspective, choose to be an observer and would
rather do research from an outsiders standpoint. After learning about anthropologists and what they
do, I realized that they are examples to follow because they constantly remind us that humans are
capable of being open minded if we really want to, some people just choose not

The Importance Of Queer Identity In The LGBT Community
I am extremely lucky to have had the opportunity to come to terms with much of my identity before
heading to college. However, some of my residents might not have had that opportunity and I d love to
create programs to allow for that questioning and affirmation to occur. With regard to my own identity,
I know seeing queer representation in the media was a step towards finding out my own queer identity.
For a program, I could work with another member of the LGBT community or even another
marginalized group, such as a person of color, to watch content featuring individuals who
unapologetically embrace their identity. Afterwards, the RA s could facilitate a conversation about the
content and the identities featured (with snacks of course). Many people might not be comfortable
with talking about their identity point blank and therefore the content allows for an introduction to the
conversation. Overall, I want to create an environment where discovering the different aspects of your
identity is encouraged and accepted by all.
From previous experience, I ve learned that the best way to create connections with residents is to
integrate yourself into their college experience. Whether it is saying hi in the elevators, in the halls, or
in common organizations, these types of interactions will foster closer and more open relationships
with residents. For most college students, moving away to college is the first time they will be
separated from their parents. Given that you are now

Conclusion Of The Declaration Of Independence
The Declaration of Independence was created in 1776 by Thomas Jefferson and the Continental
Congress. This document is a founding document of the United States because it created the
foundation for the United States government, established independence for the nation, granted equal
rights for all citizens, and gave the nation the ability to sell and trade independently. As a founding
father of the United States, Thomas jefferson was highly qualified to write the Declaration of
Independence. Thomas Jefferson was elected by the thirteen colonies to draft the document because of
his intelligence, experience fighting in the Revolutionary War, status as the founder of the University
of Virginia, and role as the third President of the United States. Jefferson also studied at the College of
William and Mary in the practice of law. Although most believe Jefferson was the only person
involved in writing the Declaration, he actually had a team to help him, called the Continental
Congress. This team consisted of Benjamin Franklin from Pennsylvania, John Adams from
Massachusetts, Roger Sherman of Connecticut, and Robert Livingston of New York. Jefferson stated
unanimously pressed on myself alone to undertake the draught [sic]. I consented; I drew it; but before
I reported it to the committee I communicated it separately to Dr. Franklin and Mr. Adams requesting
their corrections. . . I then wrote a fair copy, reported it to the committee, and from them, unaltered to
the Congress.

Causes Of Thunderstorms
THUNDERSTORMS Mother Natures unhealthiest weather condition!
How Thunderstorms affects the human body
A thunderstorm is only considered a thunderstorm when lightning is present.
These storms can play an important role in physical pain and mental suffering.
Lightning is made from cold air and warm air inside a cloud that meets. The warm air has water
droplets that goes to the top of the cloud and the cold air has ice crystals goes to the bottom of the
cloud. When a storm forms the droplets and crystals hit each other and it separates the air and the two
parts hitting each other makes a static electrical charge in the cloud and forms a lightning bolt.
Thunder; one following the other. Thunder is air pressure that expands and contracts quickly in a
cloud by lightning. When the air gets heated it makes the sound of thunder.
10 UNHEALTHIEST FACTS ABOUT THUNDERSTORMS YOU DONT WANT TO

Anything you touch you will get shocked!
Lightning is considered static electricity in a thunderstorm. When the heat and cold meet it causes a
static electricity spark, as it is a positive and negative charge meeting each other.

Ebola is introduced into the human population through close contact with blood, organs and other

Ovid s Metamorphoses-Analytical Essay
In the story of Ovid s Metamorphoses Arachne, much more is taking place than just a weaving contest.
There are examples of human ingenuity and arrogance. During the weaving contest it s a high tension
fight between Arachne and Minerva, who are both weaving the gods in two different lights, while you
have Minerva who is a god herself weaving all of their excellence and purity. Arachne is arrogantly
weaving the gods in their true colors dark, deceptive, and malicious. It s high strung and intense, it
ropes you in makes it impossible to stop reading. Human ingenuity and arrogance reappear and shape
the story and Arachne, in Arachne s case she will later be turned into a spider and for the story s sake
as soon as Arachne wins the weaving contest it has a new tone to it. Minerva, a high and mighty
goddess begins to hear rumors coming from the nearby village, saying there is a young and boastful
girl named Arachne. Arachne had been spreading rumors around claiming that she is the best weaver
in existence. Arachne said she, Could beat anyone, specifically naming Minerva (2), and challenged
her to a weaving contest. Minerva, now infuriated, rushed to the village disguised as an old woman in
an attempt to talk Arachne out of her boastful comments. As arrogant and confident as Arachne was,
she didn t listen to the old woman s suggestions. Filled ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

hold pride and power over anything else. There were also examples of ingenuity such as Minerva

New Public Management
What is the New Public Management? And how has it expressed itself in the workings of public
bureaucracies in the Caribbean?
Introduction
During the last twenty years, various public administrations of countries in Europe, North America,
Latin America and the Caribbean, were characterised by a practical reform movement defined by
Hood (1991) as the New Public Management (NPM). This is documented by other scholars such as
Gernod Gruening (1998)[1], and Paul Sutton (2003). Throughout the literature, it is evident that the
process of reform have been subject to different terminologies: Managerialism Pollitt (1990); Market
Based Administration Lan and Rosenbloom (1992); Entrepreneurial Government Osborne and
Gaebler (1992). ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Implementers of The Movement
The NPM movement began to develop in the late 1970 s and early 1980 s. The first movers were the
United kingdom, which was reformed by Prime Minister Margaret Thatcher and communal
governments in the US under Ronald Reagan which suffered heavily from recessive developments and
tax revolts of their citizens. Later the national governments of other Commonwealth countries, mainly
New Zealand and Australia joined, after news the reform successes in these countries, and
administrative reforms got on the agendas of almost all OECD countries.[7]
Philosophy of the New Public Management
Some of the major philosophical underpinnings of the NPM were outlined by Teehankee (2003) and
are very pervasive throughout the literature: Management culture that emphasizes the centrality of the
customer Transparency with regard to resource allocation and results Organization that promotes
decentralized control through a wide

Comparing The Body And Nervous System
The body has two major communication systems, one being the endocrine system and the other being
the nervous system. Both of these systems are used to regulate biopsychological functions. The
nervous system is broken up into two different parts, the central nervous system and the peripheral
nervous system. Although the nervous system as a whole has one main communication system which
is the brain. However the nervous system made up of a system of neurons. A neuron is a specialized
cell that transmits information.
The central nervous system consists of the brain and spinal cord. The brain is involved with thinking,
learning, memory, body movement, emotion, and even the immune system activity, however there is

American History GREEF Interview
Everyone has, at one point in time, been taught how to do something. Whether it is how to tie one s
shoes or how to do long division, teachers have been around to help people learn forever. Teachers are
an integral part of today s society, and they will continue to be an outstanding asset in the lives of all
the students across our country for centuries to come. Because of teaching s impact on today s world
and children, I chose to interview my former North Allegheny GOAL teacher, Mr. Dan Williams for
my Honors American History GREEF project. I have always been surrounded by teachers, and I have

Williams and I walked to an empty classroom in which the interview was held and I began to ask him
the questions I had written up earlier that week. I started off with a number of questions mainly about
how he knew he wanted to be a teacher. So, naturally, he explained that he went to Duquesne
University intending to become a lawyer. In his junior year of college, however, after taking three
years worth of pre law classes, he decided he wanted to switch his major to education. When I asked
him what made him decide to change his path, he said he worked at the zoo one summer in their
education department, and he liked it so much more than any experience he had in law. I found it
extremely interesting to see how one small experience, such as a summer job at the zoo, impacted his
entire life and career path so dramatically. After this realization, we began talking about what
education he actually needed to become a

Knights Of The Past And Stories Of Arthur
Arthur knights to Medieval knights Knights of the past and those from stories of Arthur are always
intriguing. However have you ever wondered what s knights of the past were really like? Maybe past
knights weren t all about honor and loyalty. Maybe even some of them were villains in some kind of
mixed up way. Well this can all be solved in researching Knights of the past and stories of Arthur. In
the end you will learn that knights of the past and those of the Arthurian age were very similar.
Knights have always interested me, but have you ever wondered if the stories were true? For example,

Knights wore many chains to protect themselves as well as metal plates. Back in the old times knights
really were seen as the police of today. Except the chivalry code of loyalty sometimes made it hard for
the knights. Since the knight must pledge to the Lord of his loyalty, he would have to whatever the
Lord commands him to do. Sometimes a lord would go mad as a march hare with power and
command his knight to do his bidding, however it is not the knights fault, for if he disobeyed the lord
he could be killed or jailed for his disregards to an order. Many knights who could of been seen as a
Knightly figure were not due to their lords inconsiderate behaviors. One of the best known knights in
medieval times would have to be William Marshal. William Marshal, 1st Earl of Pembroke is often
referred to as the extravagant medieval knight who rose to prominence for his bravery in tournaments
and warfare. He earlier entered the service of King Henry II, who made him a guardian to his eldest
son in 1170. But during the revolt of Henry s sons, he remained loyal to the father and helped him put
down the rebellion. When Richard the Lionheart became King of England, he kept Marshal at his side
which turned out to be a very good idea. During his absence, Marshal prevented the King s brother
John from seizing

Increase Employee Productivity With Technology
Increase Employee Productivity with Technology Staying ahead of the competition and increasing
profits are the fundamental objectives for every organization. However, many firms today continue to
invest extensively in business development activities and less on employee productivity. This mindset
ignores the firm s chief asset and its core foundation, its workforce. The fact is employee productivity
can make or break a firm, and a firm staffed with underperforming employees will inevitably fail
regardless of the amount invested into business development. Many firms that do recognize the
importance of employee productivity often invest in improving the corporate culture, but overlook
investing in the right tools that result in increased productivity. Sure, they have the latest coffee maker,
but what they don t have are the technology based tools employees use daily to perform the functions
of their jobs. The goal of this whitepaper is to challenge employers to evaluate the way they currently
use technology and identify if they are aiding or impeding employee productivity. Based on our
experience and research, many firms seem satisfied with using their antiquated systems or the fear of
change and learning a new system is simply too overwhelming. they are simply uncomfortable with
upgrading and learning a new system. The problem with this is that technology is rapidly evolving and
what works today is not necessarily going to work tomorrow. Let s face it, decreased employee

The Current State Consists Of Fragmented Processes
The current state consists of fragmented processes, which is the source of all productivity issues and
inefficiency in the construction industry. The future state should be project focused rather than process
focused . To achieve this desired future state it is essential that these processes are transformed to a
more integrated approach. There should be better collaboration between the different stakeholders in
the industry such as architects, builders, owners and regulatory agencies that issues permits. In the
current, traditional system of project delivery, the relationship between these involved parties are
adversarial. This can lead to the project being marred with schedule delays, budget overruns, poor
quality, and disputes and litigations between the parties involved, as they play the blame game
refusing to take liability or responsibility for the different processes. The desired future state can be
reached through incorporating the more collaborative delivery methods that are gaining popularity,
like Design Build and Integrated Project Delivery. These systems are based on information and risk
sharing. IPD especially has a potential to incorporate Lean Construction practices and Target Value
Design in the process. The alliance of the owner, builder, design professional and other specialty
consultants for the project, can communicate effectively with each other on a common platform of
knowledge sharing. Problems that may arise during construction or design

Douglas MacArthur was a figure with leadership qualities. As a young adolescent, MacArthur
graduated top tier of his class from U.S. Military Academy at West Point. After being stationed at
many battles during World War I, it did not take long for Douglas MacArthur to become a general. In
the year of 1930, Douglas MacArthur was named chief of staff of the army by President Herbert
Hoover. During World War II, Douglas MacArthur became well known for his act of freeing the
people of the Philippines from the Japanese totalitarian ruling. For this famous battle, he was given
command for all army forces in the pacific, and was also promoted to rank of general. During the
Korean War, MacArthur policies and recommendations to bomb China were quickly refused by
President Truman because Truman did not want to start another World War. This lead to MacArthur
being dismissed as the commander of army. Returning to the United States, Douglas MacArthur was
welcomed as a man who encouraged other soldiers to do what is best for the native soil. Furthermore,
Douglas MacArthur achievements has led him to receive a Sylvanus Thayer Award, where he wrote an

Wheel Of Life Research Paper
The Wheel of life has six main sections which represent the six realms it was designed by the Buddha
in order to simplify his teachings to ordinary people. The six realms are understood as the forms of
existence into which people are born according to their Karma. The realms can also be interpreted as
real life situations and it also contains images that represent the three poisons (ignorance, attachment
and aversion). Karma, the six realms of samsara, impermanence, nirvana and the Buddha these are
contained within the wheel of life. This shows that Buddhism is a dynamic, living, religious tradition
because Buddha used this to simplify his teachings to the ordinary people. The wheel of life condenses
much of Buddhist teachings and principal beliefs so that it can be understood easily.
Impermanence is represented by the creature holding the Wheel of life he is known as Yama he is

The War On Terror And Terrorism
After the terrorist attacks of September 11, 2001, the Bush administration declared a worldwide war
on terror, consisting of open and covert military operations and security legislations in an effort to
block the financing of terrorism. The U.S. called for states across world to join their fight against
terrorism (Globalpolicy.org, 2015). This essay will be arguing if the U.S. was justified in their
advances or if they have used the attacks against them in order to launch a war against those it
suspected, using the attacks as a justification for torture and mistreatment of people across the world.
In a post 9 11 society, the question of security has become the first priority of governments and
terrified Westerners, in particular, Americans as they struggle to reconcile with the possibility of
conflicting ideals and lifestyles. The War on Terror has never truly been about the war against
militants, but has rather been, similar to the Cold War in much more gruesome and misguided a way in
which the Western countries, hereafter symbolized by the United States predominantly have found a
new way to flex political muscle while oppressing other people across the globe through torture and
destruction. The War on Terror is a poorly justified attack on human rights, a poor excuse for
retaliation and progress, and is ultimately another way for the political culture of the West to permeate
into other countries with their own lifestyles, international policies and simply be the one

Essay On Grendel In Beowulf
Grendel, the offspring of Cain the outcast, is a demon. He is a scaly creature that lives in a swampy

where he lay on the bed (Heaney 51). One night when he is prowling around, he hears the King and
his kinsmen singing out to the Lord. He hears the songs of how great God is, and is outraged. As the

Nuclear Weapons Of Mass Destruction
Karla Ximena Leyte
Though Paper #3
Weapons of mass destruction and their ability to challenge security and create large scale obliteration
have become the most significant threat in international politics, causing vast concern of the
consequences that may arise if they were to emerge in the hands of dangerous non state actors.
Chemical, nuclear, and biological weapons not only possess the ability to end the life of many but also
pose negative effects on the environment and global economy. While their ability to wipe out a mass
of civilians causes terror throughout the world, the major concern in regards to WMD is the possibility
of their landing in the hands of treacherous terrorist groups. This fear expanded in 2001 after the
terrorist use of anthrax in the United Sate s postal services (Reed). Although all nuclear, chemical, and
biological weapons acquire the ability to terrorize a civilization, nuclear weapons pose the deadliest
threat. Chemical weapons seize the ability to wipe out thousands of lives with effective gas attacks
while biological threats influence the spread of deadly diseases. What makes these two forms of
WMD less severe than nuclear weapons is that protective clothing and gear can be worn to avert lethal
gas and it is difficult for a pandemic disease to become large scale in today s era (Macfarlane). The
United States should focus its concern on nuclear weapons and the fatal threat they pose not only on
human life but also on infrastructure. Arming an

volcanic rocks are silicic ignimbrites that are 9.5 16 Ma (Christiansen et al., 1977). These volcanic
rocks are overlain by moderately to highly deformed siltstone, fanglomerates, tuff, and limestone that
have been correlated to the Furnace Creek Formation of Death Valley (Hunt and Mabey, 1966; Naffe,
1973) which has been dated at 5.3 to 6.4 Ma (Fleck, 1970; Hay et al., 1986).
Pliocene to Pleistocene sediments composes the basin fill in the Amargosa desert, with most of the
rocks comprising Mg rich clay deposits of Pliocene age. The exposed parts of the Pliocene basin rocks
are dominated by clays and carbonate rocks on the eastern part of the basin with comparatively few
outcrops on the western part of the basin. Thickness of the Pliocene sequence may be 300 m thick in
the Ash Meadows area (Naffe, 1963) and near the Amargosa project, and is estimated to be 2 to 4 Ma

Discrimination In Health And Social Care Essay
The discrimination is based on ageism. Ageism means when someone discriminates a person
according to their age. The patient feels that because she is old, the carers will think controlling her
and not provide her with the care she needs is satisfying and the right thing to do. As well as this, the
carers believe that old people are irrelevant and do not have feelings since old patients are near the end
of their lives. The patient (old lady) also states how the care worker would shout at her which could
make her feel small/inferior/scared compared to the carers and how whatever she says, it s irrelevant
towards the carers therefore this leads her feeling isolated and alone. It lowers her confidence making
her feel worthless and unwanted just ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
This is because the carer isn t aware of what the old lady needs or wants. Whenever she asks for
something, the carer s would refuse, such as when the old patient chose from the food menu to eat
vegetarian food as she dislikes fish or meaty products, (vegetarian) the carer didn t give her any other
option apart from eating meat which the old lady doesn t prefer as her right to choice was taken away.
This shows how she is being forced to do or eat things she doesn t like. The carer told her to listen to
her and stop complaining about it. This could even have an effect on her religion or beliefs. Since
maybe she s not allowed to eat something that s meaty. Furthermore this could affect the patient
personally as she loses her rights to do what she wants. Therefore she won t argue back to prove her
points and rights. Her short term will be affected as she will feel scared and threatened from the care
workers as she may think that they would control what she does or hurt her if she was to complain or
tell anyone. So this reinforces how her rights are very low and limited. This will affect her intellectual
development because since her rights aren t being heard, she will give up trying and would consider
herself unintelligent and

My Best Abilities The Beginning Of Coltrane s Alabama ...
You can see in the image above where I aligned to my best abilities the beginning of Coltrane s
Alabama with King s speech. Hearing a recording of the two overlapping is much more obvious but
you can still see how some of the words can fit into the rhythms Coltrane played. I personally believe
Coltrane did this on purpose. Of course, we have no way of know but there are some points in the
speech and music where it lines up so well that it s unmistakable. There are also parts that do not mix
well together, some of which you can see above but maybe Coltrane did that on purpose as well, to
add his own take on King s speech. Maybe even say some more things that King didn t say that
Coltrane wanted him to say. Coltrane s use of his playing abilities makes this piece speak volumes.
The beginning of this piece is essentially a lament. You can feel the sorrow and grief of the friends and
family involved in this tragedy pour out of Coltrane s sound. Coltrane never considered himself to be
a political activist. He was a musician first, but he was also a deeply religious person. Maybe it was
his beliefs that drew him towards the civil rights movement. Coltrane played eight benefit concerts to
support Martin Luther King Jr. in 1964 and recorded multiple tracks to help inspired the struggle. Art
like this though cannot depend on content alone. Someone can listen to this piece and enjoy its beauty
just as much as someone who knows the meaning behind it. This is another protest

Fairy Tail Monologue
Zeref you you can t make me fight this battle. I stumble across the room; I don t want to be anywhere
near him. He walks closer.
I can, and I will. In order for me to be sure you won t betray me, I need to see you kill your family . I
want to see Fairy Tail burn to the ground . His voice is so forceful, I don t think I ve ever seen him like
this; it s truly horrifying.
I refuse to help you. I m not your slave willing to do your dirty work. Fairy Tail won t burn, because
they d never lose to someone like you. Even if I did burn them down the would rise out of the ashes.
That s what they do, I guess someone like you wouldn t be able to understand something like this. You

senses and relax, I m going to walk out of that door to my freedom.
A grim smile spreads spreads across his face. You don t get it, do you? Zeref starts to laugh so crudely,
so darkly, that it sends chills down my back. I don t need to hurt you to get what I want. I merely need
to hurt someone you care about. Perhaps some one weak, defenceless, clueless to the dangers in the
world. He s laughing again, it s despicable. Does he really find this funny? He s threatening one of the
most innocent beings in existence and he actually finds pleasure in this. So tell me how is your son

wrestler men perpetuating violence against a professional woman wrestler in a sexual way, and the

overtones that exist. These connotations are squashed with images of men forcing themselves upon
women and by diminishing wrestling roles in the WWE world that show any distinction of

dismissing any impression of homosexuality. Divas: Sex and Male fantasy. Before the 1990 s women
were not characterized much in the WWE but to escort a man to the wrestling ring, usually as a
girlfriend or wife. As Katz says, the conventions of pornography have made their way more and more
into the main stream (Jhally, 2003). Women wrestlers are like porn stars are accustomed as Katz says
provide a spectacle for men (Jhally, 2003), all the while emphasizing their heterosexuality. Women do
minor parts in the WWE and are often seen as Katz says bit players in a male narrative, as sexual
playthings (Jhally, 2003). Men mistreating and embarrassing women is presented as entertainment;
when this happens it is nearly always presented in the context that the woman deserves it or her
actions have led to the punishment. As Kat says, when you make this sort of abuse fun and
entertaining it has the effect of normalizing, justifying, and rationalizing men s violence against
women. (Jhally, 2003). There

Streetcar Named Desire Stereotypes
A Streetcar Named Desire takes place in the 1950 s, an era where American s were recovering from
great losses. Blanche comes to visits Stella after she loses Belle Reve and her teaching job, however
she doesn t inform Stella on when she plans on leaving. In Stella s two bedroom apartment Blanche
feels very uncomfortable because she comes from a high class society in the south, and doesn t seem
to understand why her sister Stella chose the life she has. Immediately she dislikes Stella s husband
Stanley due to his lack of manners and unlike others, he can see right through her. Blanche s
unexpected arrival in Stella s apartment unravels a chaotic chain of events where everyone s true

According to Koprince Stanley can be described as hyper masculine, using aggressive behavior as
verification of manliness, believing in male superiority, seeing women as sexual objects to be
dominated and being extremely jealous and possessive (50). His aggressive demeanor is a way of
expressing his dominance over everyone in his life. He views his marriage as an ownership instead of
a partnership. His relationship with Stella is more for his pleasure then hers. With Blanche, he can see
right through her, and knows everything that she does is an act. He takes pleasure out of making her
life miserable and making her feel inferior. Unlike Blanche, Stanley is happy the way he is. He doesn t
understand how horrible he is but is happy with the way everything in life goes for him. Stanley s
violence is not only directed against women. In scene three, after he hits Stella, Stanley s friends try to
pull him away, and he being to fight them and nearly throw them off. This shows Stanley s
aggressiveness and violence is directed towards anyway that comes in his way. Although Stanley has a
strong personality, audiences identified with him the most because of his capability to abuse power

Manorialism In The Great Chain Of Being
The time of the middle ages began around 500 A.D. Feudalism is the background of the time of the
middle ages. Manorialism shows all of the different lands and jobs that take place on the manor.
Although there were lots of different roles surrounding feudalism and manorialism, the most
important one was the role of the blacksmith. In the medieval ages, everything would have been very
unsuccessful if it weren t for blacksmiths work. Feudalism is also known as the feudal system, it was
the economic and political system of this time, feudalism provided order in the society (Corrick 12

The chain is based off of matter and spirit. The Great Chain of Being stated that everything in the
universe has its specific place on a ranked chain. The rankings on the chain were based off of how
much spirit and matter it has (Melani). The less spirit and the more matter an object has, the lower it is
on the chain (Melani). The Great Chain of Being comes from God. Everything has their own place and
function in the universe according to the chain s concept. To leave their place was known as betrayal
to God (Melani). Overall, the Great Chain of Being states that God put everything in a specific
position, if the object moves, they re disappointing God. Objects had to act accordingly based off of
their positions, they had to have their ideal behavior (Melani). Everyone or everything in this position
on the chain must act as they should in that position. The Great Chain of being and feudalism connect
by saying that every person is in that specific position because of God, if you disobey your lord, you

Prophetic Vision in Edmund Spenser s The Faerie Queene Essay
Prophetic Vision in Edmund Spenser s The Faerie Queene
In the First Book of The Faerie Queene, Edmund Spenser reveals his prophetic and apocalyptic vision
for the fledgling British Empire, personified in his hero Redcrosse. As the secular instrument of
Gloriana, the Faerie Queene, Redcrosse takes on the sacred task of Una (representing religious truth)
to free her parents, Adam and Eve, from their bonds of sin. Before he can achieve his task, the
Redcrosse knight (representing holiness) must mature as a Christian knight as he and Una encounter
inhabitants of Faerie Land and interact with them. With his allegory, Spenser unveils the secular and
sacred obligations of Queen Elizabeth and her courtiers as they lead Protestant England and ... Show

After Redcrosse strangles religious Error at Una s urging and kills the monster with his sword,
Spenser separates Redcrosse and Una by way of Archimago s wicked machinations. Una cycles
through a sequence of traveling companions: a lion, Archimago as false Redcrosse (the Roman
Catholic Church), Sans Loy (a Muslim), satyrs, Satyrane, and Prince Arthur. Spenser implies that
participants of each religion, no matter how primitive, believe its truths are divine. In her latest
incarnation of supreme religious truth, Una needs Gloriana s knight to defeat the dragon of sin, to
obtain Christ s redemption for Adam and Eve and their descendants. While England amasses vast
wealth conquering and colonizing the primitive races, the real battle is not against flesh and blood, but
as Paul stated in his letter to the Ephesians, against principalities (Saracens), powers (Lucifera), rulers
of darkness (Error and Despair) and spiritual wickedness in high places (mythological or primitive
gods demons).
When Redcrosse finally attains sufficient holiness to fight the old serpent (the dragon Satan) of
Revelations, Contemplation takes him to look on the New Jerusalem. Like Jesus, Redcrosse is an
historical human being (Saint George). Unlike the imaginary characters of the poem, Redcrosse is
entitled to everlasting life provided his name is written in the book of life, as stated in

Do Boys and Girls See Optical Illusions Differently?
The goal of this paper is to focus on how gender affects what people see in optical illusions. The
differences of male and female brains affect how boys and girls act and perceive the world. If there s a
difference in the vision of boys and girls then there will probably be a difference in how they see an
optical illusion. Studies show that there are multiple differences in the male and female brain. There
are different types of optical illusions, but this paper is mainly about ambiguous illusions because that
is what will be used in the experiment. Ambiguous illusions are pictures with multiple images in them.

The left side IPL is bigger then the right side of the male brain, but for women the right side is larger.
Past studies have shown that the left IPL is larger in Albert Einstein s brain and the brain of other
physicists and mathematicians. The left IPL is responsible for perception of time and speed, and the
ability to rotate three dimensional objects, while the right side is responsible for memory involved in
understanding and manipulating spatial relationships, and the perception of our affects and feelings.
There are also two areas in the frontal temporal lobes related to language that is larger in women.
Women process language on both sides of the frontal brain, while men process it only on the left side.
This might suggest why men are better at things like calculations and estimating time, and women are
better with emotions and communicating. There are many other differences in the male and female
brains. There are more differences in men and women then boys and girls. Cultural learning creates an
even larger difference! Other studies have shown that more feminine women have a larger straight
gyrus (SG) then less feminine women, though the difference hasn t been shown to change how they
act or think. Multiple studies have shown that males have an advantage with the left eye that affect
perception of photographed faces, scattered dots, and line orientations. But there are no differences

In Logistics and Transportation of Natural Gas in Russia
INTRODUCTION The most vital industry of our time is the energy industry. It provides energy to all
other industries and improves the quality of people s lives. Energy helps us produce and preserve all
basic necessities like food, fuel for transportation, power to keep machinery working and
communication technology accessible. Energy is found in a number of different forms as chemical
energy, electrical energy, thermal energy, solar energy, mechanical energy, and nuclear energy. The
future of the energy industries holds many responsibilities toward creating new technologies to
explore and transport energy to its final consumer respecting natural resources and minimizing
harmful environmental impact. The concerns on environmental impacts of the energy production
systems have made many countries take an extremely large amount of time developing policies that
regulate the energy industry. Those policies aim to control

What Does It Mean To Be Sorry
Growing up in a traditional Chinese family, I used to say I am sorry a lot. Sometimes I meant to
apologize, but most likely I wanted to avoid conflicts, even if I did nothing wrong. I never thought
about refusing to say the three words, until going to Wisconsin as an exchange student for a month.
How can you still have a Chinese book in your backpack since you are in America, and why don t you
feel sorry for stealing educational resources from our local kids? I cannot believe either that I am not
quoting a Donald Trump s tweet now; the question is in fact what the uncle of my host family in
Wisconsin threw at me. I was offended, but I could not make a rational and convincing argument,
since my English was not fluent enough. I felt helpless. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
One time I was on a bus to Beverly Hill, and I was talking to a friend on phone in Chinese. Two
teenage girls at the back of the bus were imitating my pronunciation and laughing so hard, and I heard
them addressing me as chink. I was trying to wrap my head around, because I did not understand why
I was laughed at when I was just casually talking to a friend. I was mad at the girls, but then I started
to think it was because they did not interact with people from other countries much. If they grew up
hearing different languages, and making friends with people who have different habits, they would not
find me weird. Therefore, I decided to code switch to Mandarin in public places as much as I need to
show that it is not intruding to carve out a space for my culture, and it is not on my end to shut up, but
on the locals end to be respectful. I stay in common rooms and quads, to switch to Mandarin to talk to
Chinese friends on phone or in person. I pick up phone calls from my chinese parents and talk to them
in Mandarin while my boyfriend who speaks English and Hebrew is sitting next to me. I greet my
Chinese classmates in Mandarin before classes start. I switch from English to Mandarin not because I

General Solicitations And Sell Securities
General Solicitations in Rule 506 D Securities To offer and sell securities in the United States, an
issuer must comply with the registration requirements of the amended Securities Act of 1933, or must
offer and sell the securities pursuant to an exemption from the registration requirements. Rule 506 of
Regulation D is commonly used as a private offering exemption. In 2013 the SEC lifted the ban on
general solicitation or general advertising in specific private offerings of securities. Considered the
final rule , it represents a compromise in many respects. Businesses who wish to raise funds will have
greater opportunities for fulfilling their goal with the lifting of the ban. However, compliance
requirements must also be satisfied in the process. The final rule doesn t apply to all private securities
offerings. Businesses are required to meet numerous requirements such as selling only to accredited
investors, taking logical steps to verify each potential investor is accredited, and follow the other terms
and conditions of a Rule 506 securities offering. For example, issuers should realize that nothing in
the amendments to Rule 506 affect the obligation of the issuer utilizing the safe harbor to make full
and complete disclosure regarding the offering. All items considered material regarding the offering
are still required to be disclosed in writing prior to the sale of securities under the safe harbor,
regardless of whether general solicitation or general advertising is

Examining Low Young Voter Turnout
One of our most, and many would argue, the most valuable rights as citizens of a democracy is our
right to vote. It gives us a voice in the direction our elected representatives steer our country.
Unfortunately, historically young voters are underrepresented due to their low voting turnout. This
came as a shock to me being a young voter myself. Growing up in California I was excited about
getting the chance to vote, to have a voice as it were. However, this is clearly not the case for all
potential young voters.
The Problem Young voter turnout has historically been disproportionately lower than all other voting
groups. In California alone, as indicated in the California Civic Engagement Project, conducted by UC
Davis during the 2012 ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
With those that attended college being twice as more likely to vote (Center for Information and
Research on Civic Learning Engagement).
Political Polarization There s a great deal of debate on whether the issue of increased political
polarization of our elected representatives has had a positive or negative effect on voter turnout, there
s however little debate on whether the political process has become more polarized. While this is an
issue for voter turnout of all ages, I m in a unique position to speak on it as a young voter. As I
mentioned earlier growing up I was excited at the chance to help shape public policy with my vote.
However, as the years went on the increasingly polarized atmosphere of my representatives has had a
draining effect on me. I don t tune in to the TV broadcasts or read the newspaper with the same gusto
anymore. The constant name calling and gridlock has had a profoundly negative effect on my
enthusiasm to partake civic activity. Being a young voter I have dwelt on this quite a bit, and come to
the conclusion that this has discouraged me from taking part in the political process. Apparently that s
a common symptom of increased political polarization on the electorate, as noted by several political
scientists. For example, in a paper published in American Journal of Political Science Dr. John
Rogowski notes that My main finding is that, rather than stimulate political

  • 2. How Philanthropy Is Morally Acceptable For Organizations... Philanthropy is the desire of people, on their own accord, to promote a charity either by giving their time, money, or talent. Philanthropy fills a big gap that the government either can t or won t provide. However, does this necessity come with responsibilities? Is it mandatory for us to be active in philanthropy and if it is, what type of charities is morally acceptable for donors to give money? Or to Sandel s points in What Money Can t Buy, will bringing money into the situation have more negative effects than positive? One of the social purposes of philanthropy is to allow individuals to express their values. If people value education, then they can give free tutoring to their local schools. If they are worried about the literacy rate of their city, then they can raise money to provide the proper resources to raise the literacy rate. If people value education, health, or arts they are able to give and invest their money to that area. Philanthropy is also seen in many ways as a social good. Hence, it is logical that private sectors use philanthropy to act in public ways. It shows their values and it shows that they are made of people that care about the community. For example, when the oil spill happened in the Gulf of Mexico dishwashing soaps would donate money if people bought their products and would show commercials of their teams cleaning up animals from the oil spill. It was the dishwasher s brand way of saying that they wanted to help the animals harmed by ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 3. Blood Bank History Technology is a broad concept that helps humanity. Technological change has been the driving force in the growth of our world today. People often forget that technology such as blood banks, radios, and radars weren t easy to use as they are now. Within this paper I am going to discuss how blood banks came about and evolved in the medical industry, how radios entertained and help send messages to the public, and how radars were introduced to the war. A blood transfusion is a safe, common procedure in which blood is given to you through an intravenous (IV) line in one of your blood vessels. ( What Is a Blood Transfusion? NHLBI, NIH. At the start of the decade 12 million American households owned a radio, and by 1939 this total had exploded to more than 28 million. Radios provided a great source of entertainment, but radios also provided a way for communication like never before. Franklin Roosevelt s fireside chats helped the population feel closer to their president than ever. By the end of the decade radio had exacted quite an influence on the American media. Advertisers capitalised on radio s popularity and the idea of the sponsor was born. Radio also helped establish the national broadcasting networks such as NBC and CBS, still present to this day. After the 1930s the popularity of radio began to decline at the hands of newer, more visual technologies. But the influence of the golden age of radio on the American way of life will never be forgotten. ( Feature Radio In The 1930s. PBS. PBS, n.d. Web. 02 Oct. ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 4. Nacirema Summary And Analysis When I first enrolled in this class, I never thought I would get anything out of it besides the knowledge, which I found to be completely interesting. But now I can honestly say that this is probably one of the most useful classes I could have possibly taken in college. We live in times where people are very exclusive and frightened of what they do not know. It is in times like this when those who possess knowledge must do everything in their power to be as inclusive and accepting as possible. This class also showed me that we cannot categorize things as normal or not. Instead, we should look through the beholder eyes and try to empathize in full measure. To start, one article that really changed my perspective was the Nacirema one. When I first read it, I thought those people the author was referring to acted strangely. Even though the author got his point across in an exaggerated way, it really made me realize how unaware people can look when judging others for not doing normal things, when in reality, the things those people consider normal , may be strange for others. Furthermore, in class activities further expanded my knowledge and allowed our group to communicate our ideas freely. One particular example was from ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Both of them explained how essential the work of anthropologists is. I do not think many people are willing to go to isolated places and learn a completely new culture, but anthropologists do so in many ways. For example, those who use the etic perspective are able to emerge in a culture and become part of it. On the other hand, those who use the emic perspective, choose to be an observer and would rather do research from an outsiders standpoint. After learning about anthropologists and what they do, I realized that they are examples to follow because they constantly remind us that humans are capable of being open minded if we really want to, some people just choose not ... • 5. The Importance Of Queer Identity In The LGBT Community I am extremely lucky to have had the opportunity to come to terms with much of my identity before heading to college. However, some of my residents might not have had that opportunity and I d love to create programs to allow for that questioning and affirmation to occur. With regard to my own identity, I know seeing queer representation in the media was a step towards finding out my own queer identity. For a program, I could work with another member of the LGBT community or even another marginalized group, such as a person of color, to watch content featuring individuals who unapologetically embrace their identity. Afterwards, the RA s could facilitate a conversation about the content and the identities featured (with snacks of course). Many people might not be comfortable with talking about their identity point blank and therefore the content allows for an introduction to the conversation. Overall, I want to create an environment where discovering the different aspects of your identity is encouraged and accepted by all. From previous experience, I ve learned that the best way to create connections with residents is to integrate yourself into their college experience. Whether it is saying hi in the elevators, in the halls, or in common organizations, these types of interactions will foster closer and more open relationships with residents. For most college students, moving away to college is the first time they will be separated from their parents. Given that you are now ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 6. Conclusion Of The Declaration Of Independence The Declaration of Independence was created in 1776 by Thomas Jefferson and the Continental Congress. This document is a founding document of the United States because it created the foundation for the United States government, established independence for the nation, granted equal rights for all citizens, and gave the nation the ability to sell and trade independently. As a founding father of the United States, Thomas jefferson was highly qualified to write the Declaration of Independence. Thomas Jefferson was elected by the thirteen colonies to draft the document because of his intelligence, experience fighting in the Revolutionary War, status as the founder of the University of Virginia, and role as the third President of the United States. Jefferson also studied at the College of William and Mary in the practice of law. Although most believe Jefferson was the only person involved in writing the Declaration, he actually had a team to help him, called the Continental Congress. This team consisted of Benjamin Franklin from Pennsylvania, John Adams from Massachusetts, Roger Sherman of Connecticut, and Robert Livingston of New York. Jefferson stated unanimously pressed on myself alone to undertake the draught [sic]. I consented; I drew it; but before I reported it to the committee I communicated it separately to Dr. Franklin and Mr. Adams requesting their corrections. . . I then wrote a fair copy, reported it to the committee, and from them, unaltered to the Congress. ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

During the weaving contest it s a high tension fight between Arachne and Minerva, who are both weaving the gods in two different lights, while you have Minerva who is a god herself weaving all of their excellence and purity. Arachne is arrogantly weaving the gods in their true colors dark, deceptive, and malicious. It s high strung and intense, it ropes you in makes it impossible to stop reading. Arachne had been spreading rumors around claiming that she is the best weaver in existence. Arachne said she, Could beat anyone, specifically naming Minerva (2), and challenged her to a weaving contest. Introduction During the last twenty years, various public administrations of countries in Europe, North America, Latin America and the Caribbean, were characterised by a practical reform movement defined by Hood (1991) as the New Public Management (NPM). This is documented by other scholars such as Gernod Gruening (1998)[1], and Paul Sutton (2003). Whether it is how to tie one s shoes or how to do long division, teachers have been around to help people learn forever. Teachers are an integral part of today s society, and they will continue to be an outstanding asset in the lives of all the students across our country for centuries to come. Because of teaching s impact on today s world and children, I chose to interview my former North Allegheny GOAL teacher, Mr. Dan Williams for my Honors American History GREEF project. I started off with a number of questions mainly about how he knew he wanted to be a teacher. So, naturally, he explained that he went to Duquesne University intending to become a lawyer. In his junior year of college, however, after taking three years worth of pre law classes, he decided he wanted to switch his major to education. When I asked him what made him decide to change his path, he said he worked at the zoo one summer in their education department, and he liked it so much more than any experience he had in law. I found it extremely interesting to see how one small experience, such as a summer job at the zoo, impacted his entire life and career path so dramatically. However have you ever wondered what s knights of the past were really like? Maybe past knights weren t all about honor and loyalty. Maybe even some of them were villains in some kind of mixed up way. Sometimes a lord would go mad as a march hare with power and command his knight to do his bidding, however it is not the knights fault, for if he disobeyed the lord he could be killed or jailed for his disregards to an order. Many knights who could of been seen as a Knightly figure were not due to their lords inconsiderate behaviors. One of the best known knights in medieval times would have to be William Marshal. William Marshal, 1st Earl of Pembroke is often referred to as the extravagant medieval knight who rose to prominence for his bravery in tournaments and warfare. He earlier entered the service of King Henry II, who made him a guardian to his eldest son in 1170. But during the revolt of Henry s sons, he remained loyal to the father and helped him put down the rebellion. When Richard the Lionheart became King of England, he kept Marshal at his side which turned out to be a very good idea. During his absence, Marshal prevented the King s brother John from seizing ... Increase Employee Productivity With Technology Increase Employee Productivity with Technology Staying ahead of the competition and increasing profits are the fundamental objectives for every organization. However, many firms today continue to invest extensively in business development activities and less on employee productivity. This mindset ignores the firm s chief asset and its core foundation, its workforce. The fact is employee productivity can make or break a firm, and a firm staffed with underperforming employees will inevitably fail regardless of the amount invested into business development. Many firms that do recognize the importance of employee productivity often invest in improving the corporate culture, but overlook investing in the right tools that result in increased productivity. Sure, they have the latest coffee maker, but what they don t have are the technology based tools employees use daily to perform the functions of their jobs. The goal of this whitepaper is to challenge employers to evaluate the way they currently use technology and identify if they are aiding or impeding employee productivity. Based on our experience and research, many firms seem satisfied with using their antiquated systems or the fear of change and learning a new system is simply too overwhelming. they are simply uncomfortable with upgrading and learning a new system. The Current State Consists Of Fragmented Processes The current state consists of fragmented processes, which is the source of all productivity issues and inefficiency in the construction industry. The future state should be project focused rather than process focused . To achieve this desired future state it is essential that these processes are transformed to a more integrated approach. There should be better collaboration between the different stakeholders in the industry such as architects, builders, owners and regulatory agencies that issues permits. In the current, traditional system of project delivery, the relationship between these involved parties are adversarial. This can lead to the project being marred with schedule delays, budget overruns, poor quality, and disputes and litigations between the parties involved, as they play the blame game refusing to take liability or responsibility for the different processes. The desired future state can be reached through incorporating the more collaborative delivery methods that are gaining popularity, like Design Build and Integrated Project Delivery. Nuclear Weapons Of Mass Destruction Karla Ximena Leyte Though Paper #3 Weapons of mass destruction and their ability to challenge security and create large scale obliteration have become the most significant threat in international politics, causing vast concern of the consequences that may arise if they were to emerge in the hands of dangerous non state actors. Chemical, nuclear, and biological weapons not only possess the ability to end the life of many but also pose negative effects on the environment and global economy. While their ability to wipe out a mass of civilians causes terror throughout the world, the major concern in regards to WMD is the possibility of their landing in the hands of treacherous terrorist groups. This fear expanded in 2001 after the terrorist use of anthrax in the United Sate s postal services (Reed). Although all nuclear, chemical, and biological weapons acquire the ability to terrorize a civilization, nuclear weapons pose the deadliest threat. Chemical weapons seize the ability to wipe out thousands of lives with effective gas attacks while biological threats influence the spread of deadly diseases. What makes these two forms of WMD less severe than nuclear weapons is that protective clothing and gear can be worn to avert lethal gas and it is difficult for a pandemic disease to become large scale in today s era (Macfarlane). Hearing a recording of the two overlapping is much more obvious but you can still see how some of the words can fit into the rhythms Coltrane played. There are also parts that do not mix well together, some of which you can see above but maybe Coltrane did that on purpose as well, to add his own take on King s speech.
