Conventions
✓They all had subcategories of sections that will appeal to the reader. (website)
✓They have a search bar that is easier for them to get to the exact information they want to read
✓They have advertisements that link to the ideologies of their magazines
✓They have other forms of mediums to gain a larger audience I.e a radio show
✓They have a pop up which invites you to subscribe or either have it in the hyperlink
✓The contents page has cut out imakes it look invitinga and fun with social media attached (print)
✓A Masthead either black or white and bold- the name of the magazine establishing their brand identity
✓Natural lighting to make the main image look relatable and or High key lightiing to make the main image look unatainableor powerful
✓The main image (celebrity) is usually looking directly at you, engagingwithj the reader- trying to sell the product
✓The colour palette is usually bland in order to let the main image shine but always have the colour pink incorporated
✓The coverlines usually on healtth, fashion and beauty- The anchorage text with a a quote from magazine, and is underneath the main image
✓They usually have a housetyle, direct mode of address
What will I adopt and what will I
challenge/subvert
❖I plan on subverting the ideologies that having a female embody the stereotypical attributes as the main image gains more readership.
❖I will adopt the trait that using high key lighting will attract more readers but slightly less airbrush to create a more intimate relationship with the reader
in order to blur the lines of celebrity culture (issues 16-25 have with wanting to look "perfect" dismissed)
❖I will have coverlines talking about health, fashiona and entertainment
❖Instead of having a celebrity as the main image but someone of similar status emulated through the anchorage text(their story)
❖I will have pop ups on the website to interact with the reader
❖I will have a slogan as a way of reinforcing brand identity
❖I will have a section in the hyperlinks about having a podcast as another form interaction with demographics
❖I want to challenge what people view as "newsworthy" I.e being a mum
❖Attracting both a male and female audeicne rather than just a female skew

  • 2. Key Codes and Conventions ✓They all had subcategories of sections that will appeal to the reader. What will I adopt and what will I challenge/subvert ❖I plan on subverting the ideologies that having a female embody the stereotypical attributes as the main image gains more readership. ❖I will adopt the trait that using high key lighting will attract more readers but slightly less airbrush to create a more intimate relationship with the reader in order to blur the lines of celebrity culture (issues 16-25 have with wanting to look "perfect" dismissed) ❖I will have coverlines talking about health, fashiona and entertainment ❖Instead of having a celebrity as the main image but someone of similar status emulated through the anchorage text(their story) ❖I will have pop ups on the website to interact with the reader ❖I will have a slogan as a way of reinforcing brand identity ❖I will have a section in the hyperlinks about having a podcast as another form interaction with demographics ❖I want to challenge what people view as "newsworthy" I.e being a mum ❖Attracting both a male and female audeicne rather than just a female skew
