- 3. WHAT IS MANAGEMENT Management means – It is a creation of an internal environment where individuals are working in a group can perform effectively and efficiently for the achievement of their organisational goal. BY – KNOOTZ AND O DNELL
- 4. FEATURES OF MANAGEMENT PROCESS Management process is characterised by following features are :- Social process Continious process Universal Interrelated
- 5. Social process – The entire management process is regarded as a social process because success of all Organisational depends upon the co-operation of the Workers. Continious process – Management functions are continious or never ending in nature because if one function is completed then automatically next will be started. Universal – Management functions are universal in nature because these functions are required in every Organisation, without management functions no organisation can survive.
- 6. Interrelated – Management functions are interrelated because the performance of the next function start only when the previous function was finished.
- 8. PLANNING Planning means “ Thinking in advance what is to be done, when is to be done, how is to be done and by whom is to be done.
- 9. PLANNING PROCESS Setting up of objectives Developing premises Listing various alternatives for achieving objectives Evaluation of alternatives Select an alternative Implement the plan Follow up
- 10. ORGANISING Organising means – identifying and grouping different activities in the organisation and bringing together the physical, financial, and human resource to establish most productive relations for the achievement of specific goal of organisation.
- 11. ORGANISING PROCESS Identification and division Of work Grouping the jobs and departmentalisation Assignment of duties Establishing reporting relationship
- 12. STAFFING Staffing means - Finding the right person for the right job having the right qualification, doing the right job at the right time
- 13. STAFFING PROCESS Estimating the man power requirement Recruitment Selection Placement and orientation Trainning and development
- 14. DIRECTING Directing means - Instructing, guiding, ins piring and motivating the employees in the organisation so that efforts results in achievement of organisational goal.
- 16. CONTROLLING Controlling means – Compare of actual performance with the planned performance. If there is any deviation then finding the reasons for such deviation and taking corrective measures so that in future there will be a match between actual and planned performance.
- 17. CONTROLLING PROCESS Establishing standards Measuring of performance Comparing actual performance with standards Analysing the deviation Taking corrective measures
- 18. Relative Amount of Time That Managers Spend on the Four Managerial Functions
