This document discusses different methods of boring including auger, auger and shell, wash, percussion, and rotary boring. 6. AUGER BORING
Mostly used in Sandy soil, soft soil, clayey soil.
It can operated Manually (6m) as well as Mechanically (15m).
Mostly is Driven Vertically .

This AUGER Is different from other auger :
Cylindrical in shape having diameter of 75 to 200mm,hollow tube with
cutting edge at bottom.
Operated Manually (25m) as well as Mechanically(50m).

Mostly it is used in Soft Stiff Cohesive & Sandy Soils.
The operation caring out :
By using Casing Pipe ,through which a hollow drilled rod with a sharp chisel
Or Chopping bit is inserted at lower end .
The main role play in this is WATER.

Mostly used in Rocky area & soil having Boulders.
This is only method in which material state is converted other that is from
PULVERISED TO SLURRY.

Mostly used in Hard & coursed as well as in Rocky area.
This only method of boring in which UNDISTRIBUTED Sample is taken
out.
Operation carried out :
Hollow steel tube is used for SUCKING out the MATERIAL.
Cutting bits makes annual cut in strata & leaves a cylindrical core of
the material in the hollow tube.
