The document discusses how brand identity and ancillary texts were effectively used across multiple marketing products for the film "The Office Job". Specifically, it notes that the font, color scheme, phrases, and imagery like blueprints were consistently used in the teaser trailer, poster, and mock magazine cover to clearly link the products and reinforce the brand. Characters from the film also appeared across the products to help connect them and leverage their uniqueness.
1. How effective is the combination
of your main product and
ancillary texts?
2. BRAND IDENTITY
The brand identity is a key part in any film marketing campaign.
• It creates recognisable common themes throughout all the media
productions.
• Things such as fonts colours and characters establish brand identity
and these things are often kept the same in carious products for the
same film.
• When the audience sees a poster or magazine cover the certain
aspects of it's campaign will be similar and automatically be picked up
by the audience
3. An example we looked at throughout the planning of our teaser trailer was the film 'Tower
Heist'
This films campaign uses the same font and colour scheme throughout. And uses the same
phrases and ancillary text in the trailer and also the poster for the film. We took this idea
and used it within some of our products.
Example use of Ancillary text in 'Tower Heist'
4. All three of our products' ancillary texts are all linked in one way or another for example:
The poster and magazine cover and title on the teaser trailer all have the words THE OFFICE JOB written in
a capital letter sans serif font.
The colour theme that these products share is blue and white, so all of the ancillary text are in these
colours.
5. Blue Prints
Each of the products have used the same image of blueprints in its
background and appears multiple times within the trailer.
• The blue print was a prop used in the filming of The teaser trailer and
upon creating a template magazine cover design I had the idea to add
blueprints into the magazine cover.
• The blue colour is often used to convey heist/ thriller films, this fits in
with our genre and was used effectively creating synergy between our
products.
6. Characters
The three characters
appear in the poster and
teaser trailer. Tin the
poster the characters are
wearing one of the main
costumes that they were
in in the film trailer.
These characters were
also our unique selling
point in the film as they
are very different and
have various differences
compared to the typical
heist characters
