Evaluation Question 2
How effective is the combination of
your main product and ancillary
texts?
Teaser trailer
When creating our teaser trailer we based a lot of it on the relevant teaser that we had chosen which is ‘The Counsellor’ We
done a range of different shots that we noticed within that trailer and tried to make the timings similar.
We started of the teaser trailer with our production company which is ‘Eclipse Entertainment’ which runs for abourt3 seconds.
We decided to start the trailer with this as when looking at the trailer for ‘The Counsellor’ this is what they had done.

Titles:

Having a production company helps as part of the branding which is why we
decided to create one that looks professional as well as effective.

Credits:
As part of our branding we produced credits at the end of the teaser, this is
too show more about the production part of the film. This was an effective
idea as when watching other teasers most of them have these credits at the
end. The ancillary text was very effective as we used the same type of font
and created it in the same way. We also used dull colours but made the text
stand out.

The title force was made by the font ‘We are Deprived’
This font stands out and also has a dark crime sort of
effect as it is bold and colourless. We got this branding
idea from the title ‘The Counsellor’ which is also done in
bold text, and looks rather similar to our title. We wanted
to achieve the same effect as the counsellor as the film is
a similar genre. Also the colours are plain but bold which
is what we wanted.
Font
As part of branding we created a magazine cover related to the campaign. For the cover I decided to use the
same font ‘We are Deprived’ To write the name of our film on it.
I used the same font for the magazine, poster and teaser to show that we are using branding effectively. I
noticed this when looking at The counsellor’s campaign as they used all the same font in each product. There
are many campaigns that do this as it makes it more effective as people start realising the branding of a
product.
The film campaign ‘Skyfall’ also used the same font for their magazine, poster and teaser which is why we
decided to do it as this makes it look more effective and known. This looks very effective due to it being a plain
simple title and simple text but still has an appeal on the audience. The text of our campaign is quite similar to
the ‘Skyfall’ one especially as they are both a white colour, and both have plain backgrounds behind which
makes the text stand out more which is effective and helps identify the genre.
Branding is very important , and has made the Skyfall campaign very known and successful, which is what our
aim was.
