Misogyny Reoccurs In Candide
Voltaire, the pen name of François Marie Arouet, was very creative in his way of outing the pure
ridiculousness of the ideas and morals of 18th century Europeans. In the mid 1700 s, Voltaire penned
the adventures of Candide s quest to find his love, and how his innocence is corrupted along the way.
Candide possesses many main ideas, including misogyny, the exploitation of women, the unholy acts
that holy men perform, and the fatal flaws of optimism, which leads me to believe that 18th century
Europe was doomed to a fate of death, terror, and violence.
The theme of misogyny reoccurs throughout the entire story of Candide and scenes of violence and
the rape of women imply that these were common occurrences at this time. As Candide deserts ...

The old woman that nurses Candide back to health after he is whipped by the Inquisition slowly
becomes a friend of Candide s and tells him that she is the daughter of Pope Urban the Tenth and the
Princess of Palestrina. (19) Popes must solemnly promise to be celibate and Pope Urban breaks his
promise by having a child. The fact that the highest figure of authority in the Catholic faith sinned by
corrupts his vow of chastity conveys the message that nobody can be completely pure and honest. At
the inn where Candide, Cunegonde, and the old woman stay while escaping punishment for killing the
Grand Inquisitor and a Jew, all of Cunegonde s riches are stolen by the reverend Franciscan friar (17)
who stayed at the inn with them. Franciscan friars make a vow to live life with nothing and this man
ironically breaks this promise by stealing the gold and jewels from Cunegonde. This man who
promised to live in poverty sins when he falls into the trap of thinking money equals happiness and
becomes a thief. Voltaire proves that no matter who you are, sinning is inevitable; religion is shown to
be full of hypocrisy as many religious authorities in Candide go against what they claim to believe

High School Goals
Goals are important to peoples everyday lives. Goals for high school, personal life, goals for your job,
and goals for the future are important to our everyday lives towards the future. I m Hailey Anderson, I

you get to what you want to do in the future. My personal goal for high school is to get a 3.0 GPA, or
higher and graduate high school. A GPA is good for individual student or a person that graduated high
school to know. This will help businesses know what type of person they will be in that line of work.
A GPA also determines if a person is ready to graduated high school and if a person is ready to go to
college. The reason why I m so focused on my education for high school is because that way I can
achieve a goal or goals that gets me closer to what I want to do in my life. Goals in high school are so

School Lunches Essay
Recently, parents began to swap out sugary cereals for ones that claimed to contain less sugar and
filled their pantries with snacks that had less artificial additives (Kellogg Company). What parents
may not know is that some of these substitute foods, like Welch s reduced sugar fruit snacks, and fat

processed, loaded with even more sugars, fats, and chemicals like diacetyl than the original product.

The Execution Of An Inmate Essay
On April 29, 2014, Oklahoma prison officials administered an untested mixture of 3 drugs to Clayton
Lockett, a convicted murderer and rapist (Greenberg 1). The execution went immediately and
terrifyingly wrong. Following administration of the first drug, Lockett, obviously conscious, started to
writhe and groan, and then went into convulsions (1). This is one example of the many botched
executions that have occurred in recent history. With the possibility of an execution going as badly as

Kiki the Kiwi ran through the bush on his speedy little legs. He was in a hurry to get to Puka the
Pukeko s house. OUCH! he cried, tripping over an empty soda can and ending up with his tail feathers
pointing skyward. He looked around him seeing a pile of empty cans dumped on the track. They had
dangerously sharp edges that could hurt unsuspecting animals. What disgusting litter critter would do

The War between Scotland and England in the Reign of...
Why did War break out between Scotland and England in the Reign of Edward I?
On the 14th of May 1264, the forces of Simon de Montfort, Gloucester and the Londoners were set
arrayed against the loyalist forces of King Henry III, Richard of Cornwall and Prince Edward (later to
become King Edward I). The loyalists suffered a massive defeat at this Battle of Lewes and among
those captured, aside from Richard of Cornwall and perhaps the King (Prestwich indicates the unsure
nature of the King s capture 46), were the northern barons (Scottish lords) of Balliol, Bruce and
Comyn. (Jenks 132) Prince Edward also became a hostage as part of an exchange after the battle.

One of these four advisors was John Balliol, father of the future King of Scotland. (Prestwich 26) It is
quite clear that, [families] notable in Scottish history were also notable in England... The Bruces...
were a Yorkshire family, and the Robert Bruce who was Balliol s rival for the Scottish crown in 1292
had served Henry III for twenty years and ended... as chief justice of the English court of king s bench.
(Miller 4) Given that such relationships so closely tied the English and the Scottish leaderships war
was far from anyone s agenda. However, during this time it was not uncommon even for close
relationships to digress towards war. Family lines were built with strategic marriages to link families
together, but they could just as easily lead to arguments and even war, specifically resulting from such
strategic partnerships (or lack there of).
Alexander II King of Scotland had been married to Joan, younger sister to Henry III, but later married
Mary of Coucy (daughter of a great French house) after Joan s death. This new marriage offended
Henry III, not least of all because he was trying to recover French land (Poitou) and gain respect in
continental Europe. (Powicke 586 7) To prevent war a new treaty was made giving the King of Scots
more power, but at the same time asking him not to enter into any alliances hostile to England. This
treaty was cemented by the marriage of Alexander (son of Mary and King Alexander II, who died

management claimed there was going to be a change in the way things were done. Hamper would

This set the General Motor factory back into a downward spiral. There was an announcement, given

Hamper, it was either stay in Flint where there were no jobs, or relocate to Pontiac, Michigan and

Hamper collected unemployment and quickly found that he was getting more money by collecting

How Did Great Britain Grow During The Industrial Revolution
The Industrial Revolution was the movement in which machines changed people s everyday way of
life and the methods to manufacture goods. Before this time everyone had to spend long hours of hand
labor to even do the simplest tasks. The time period for the Industrial Revolution was around 1760
1850. There were many major improvements to the way people lived during this time such as:
agriculture, textiles, transportation, economics, and socialization. The Industrial Revolution was
sparked by Great Britain because they were the most well equipped in many ways. The British Empire
was one of the largest in the world during the Industrial Revolution. Their empire expanded across
almost the whole world; because of this they had access to almost all of the natural resources on the

The advancement of the textile industry was very important in the development of Britain s
industrialization. With the use of new machines and the assembly line it was easier to create large
amounts of anything in less time and for less money. James Watt helped create the steam engine. The
steam engine was a great source of power because it came from burning coal. Coal was highly
abundant and easily accessible for the British. This helped with the cotton industry. John Kay was also
very important player in cotton innovations. He created the flying shuttle. Before this invention it took
four people to keep up with one cotton loom, and it took ten people to prepare yarn for one weaver.
This invention made it so that not as many people had to help with weaving. This essentially doubled
a weaver s production of cloth. Cotton imports increased from 2.5 million pounds at the start of the

Hydrates Lab
The properties of hydrates lab centralized on discovering the characteristics of hydrates, such as the
percentage of water contained, determining if dehydration is reversible or not, as well as the
mathematical relationship of mass lost during dehydration. Hydrates contain water molecules in their
crystalline structure these molecules possess the capability of being removed by heat. By applying
water to the dehydrated substance, it can then be determined if the reaction is irreversible or not. This
could be applied to the real world in terms of dehydrated food. According to CK 12, by removing
water from food, commonly referred to as MREs (Meals Ready to Eat), an individual is capable of

The substance evolved some in the form of color, turning from blue to white, however it s overall
consistency remained the same, despite the difference in mass. Conversely, some substances such as
Epsom salt, do not undergo such a drastic alteration during the transformation to an anhydrous state.
Due to the transformation of the hydrated copper sulfate to its original color upon adding water, it can
be concluded that some hydrates do possess the capability of being rehydrated after dehydration and
vice versa. Yet other substances, like sugar, do not possess this capability due to the fact its overall
structure was changed upon applying heat. Applying heat to sugar involves the removal of water and
an overall breakdown of the substance. Once broken down, the sugar does not possess the capability
of reverting back to its original granule state, so it is an irreversible

Although the development of DRA is often painless,4 DRA is associated with other complications.
DRA causes disruption in the abdominal wall, which may affect core stability, posture, trunk motions
and low back pain.1,5 Because of the painless nature of a DRA,4 women s health PTs found most of
their patients with DRA were referred with other diagnoses, the most being low back pain followed by

One study found that women with DRA have higher chance of increased pelvic and abdominal pain
compared to women without DRA.6 Another study looking at urogynecological patients found
prevalence of DRA in 52% of those patients.7 Although this has not been determined to be a causal
relationship, an association has been demonstrated between the presence of DRA and increased
number of pelvic floor dysfunctions (including myofascial pelvic pain, incontinence and prolapse)
compared to patients without DRA.7 In addition to having pain, subjects with IRD over 3.5 cm were
less successful at performing pelvic tilt and trunk curls than subjects without DRA.8 DRA presence

Lord Brahm The Father Of Hindu Gods And God
Brahma, the father of Hindu gods and men, is depicted as the creator of the universe. He is the first
member of the Hindu Trinity and ruler of all. Brahma is acknowledged as the creator as he
periodically creates everything in the universe, periodically due to the Hindu cyclical belief of
everything being created for a certain period of time and destroyed only to be renewed in a new form
once again. Of the three greatest Hindu deities, Lord Brahma dominates the first position, that of the
creator. As creator of all things, Brahma must have people of his own flesh; the most significant one,
Goddess Saraswathy, consort and daughter of Brahma. Besides Saraswathy, there are four sages that
roam the universe as Brahma s first mind born creations and sons; Sanaka, Sanatana, Sananadana and
Sanatkumara. The four Kumaras were the only sons born out of Brahma s mind rather than his body
and were the only ones who refused his order to procreate, therefore devoted themselves to Vishnu
and celibacy. Brahma then went on to creating ten sons (Prajapatis) from his mind, who are
acknowledged as the fathers of the human race.
Lord Brahma s birth story is unique in its setting. He is said to have been born from Vishnu s navel
through the lotus flower. After the great flood, Vishnu summoned his creative powers and formed
earth in the shape of a lotus escalating from his navel. It is believed that Brahma developed from this
lotus, therefore having the lotus symbolize his birth. Brahma then

Immigration Is A Major Issue
Immigration is a major issue in the 2016 presidential election. Millions of undocumented immigrants
live in the U.S. and border agents spend so much time apprehending illegal immigrants that agencies
cannot focus on criminal and terrorist threats. The growing awareness that our immigration system is
dysfunctional has affected the candidate s position on the issue. The candidates I have chosen to
highlight are Democrat Hillary Clinton, Republican Donald Trump and Libertarian Gary Johnson.
Hillary Clinton, Democratic candidate stated: We have to finally and once and for all fix our
immigration system this is a family issue. It s an economic issue too, but it is at heart a family issue. If
we claim we are for family, then we have to pull together and resolve the outstanding issues around
our broken immigration system. The American people support comprehensive immigration reform not
just because it s the right thing to do and it is but because it will strengthen families, strengthen our
economy, and strengthen our country. That s why we can t wait any longer, we can t wait any longer
for a path to full and equal citizenship. (https://www.hillaryclinton.com)
Clinton promises she will work to ensure a fair and just immigration system. She is fighting for an
America where every family has a sense of belonging. She believes it is important to keep families

Love Not Legalism By Madeleine L Engle
Love Not Legalism
Madeleine L Engle was a fierce thought provoking writer. She challenged me as both a believer and a
writer. Her scatterbrained writing style was relatable to me and so were the things she talked about.
She would have been a wonderful wise woman to grab a meal with. She did not shy away from
controversial topics; but instead, she introduced them. In Walking on Water L Engle sought to share
the freedom available to us if we allow Jesus Christ to break us free from our chains.
One of the topics that L Engle humbly addressed was the topic of legalism. I greatly appreciated this
because I find that many world renowned leaders shy away from talking about it, when in reality it
may be one of the enemy s most disguised tools. When people see God as an unapproachable killjoy, it
becomes natural to grow distant from Him, and I know that before becoming a Christian this was the
biggest stumbling block for me and I know some of the most kindhearted people cannot grasp the fact
that God loves them and that He sent His one and only son to save them. L Engle also tackled the
major misconception that God does not know how to laugh. He created humor and is pretty humorous
himself. George MacDonald said, It is the Heart that is not yet sure of its God that is afraid to laugh in
His presence (131). I am learning that more and more every day. The common trait that my most
joyful friends share is confidence in God s love for them. A relationship with God has so

Looking at the research methodology, O Callaghan (2009) clearly and concisely describes the research
methods used. For this study, explanatory sequential mixed methods design was used to collect and
analysis research data (O Callaghan, 2009). In the quantitative phase of the study, the researcher used
purposive sampling to recruit adults diagnosed with ADHD using specific inclusion and exclusion
criteria (O Callaghan, 2009, p.31). The first phase of the study consisted of a sample of 67 adults
diagnosed with ADHD (i.e., 22 men and 45 women between the ages 19 to 64 ) (O Callaghan, 2009,

to control aggression. In this paper, Here we review these new developments and their impact on the
study of aggression in the mouse brain. In addition, we discuss their potential applications to the
human brain.
Introduction Violence is one of humanity s oldest problems, but the neural pathways that underlie
violence are not well understood. Aggression stems from evolutionary roots, ranging from simplistic
behaviors such as defending offspring to potentially more complicated human mental disorders. The
study of aggression should improve not only our understanding of the properly functioning mind, but
also characterize poorly understood mental disorders.1
Laboratory experiments have been run on mice to identify cells that mediate aggression, but these
areas were difficult to find due to their small size.1 After discovering these areas, researchers are
beginning to study the underlying genetic pathway of aggression. Increasingly genetic approaches

Civil Rights in the USA 1945 1975
1) How did the civil rights movement change between 1945 and 1975? [6]
Black Americans had a very tough time, there were lots of things they couldn t do just because of the
colour of their skin. In the southern states of America racism was just an everyday experience for
black people. The civil rights movement in the United States was a political, legal, and social struggle
that was organized by black Americans with some help from white America. The civil rights struggle
was aimed at gaining full citizenship and racial equality for all Americans, particularly the most
discriminated group, African Americans, and was a challenge to segregation.

Martyrs In Peter Brown s The Cult Of The Saints
The veneration of the saints has been a long standing tradition in the Catholic faith, one that is highly
exalted. Saints, in the Catholic faith, are meant to be ideal role models for the practicing Catholic, so
that every Catholic may be closer to God through the saints. Saints lived an extraordinary life as a
human and lead an example for all Catholics to follow. While the canonization for sainthood is a long
process, before the canonization process, martyrs were the saints that people looked up to. Martyrs
had been physically harmed and killed for their faith. This idea of self mortification is very real in
many of Catholic saint s lives. Self mortification can take on many forms including, but not limited to,
fasting and self harm.

Analysis Of The Article Heart Of Darkness Essay
determiner: Words such as a/an, the, some, and my are determiners, which are utilized to determine
what nouns mean. A/an and the can be considered to be the most significant determiners. A/an and the
also are known as articles. A more comprehensive list of determiners would include any, each, every,
no, his, this/that, these/those, his, her, its, your, our, and their. A concept basic to articles is
countability, and they pose difficult challenges for L2 learners regarding, for example, which nouns
are countable or uncountable in English since countability, while very important, can be difficult to
quantify. An example regarding the use of the article would be the novel Heart of Darkness. Not
having an article at the beginning of this title appears to be more a matter of style than grammar, and
also is a characteristic of headlines, titles, and names. So while conventionally a countable noun (such
as heart) needs a determiner (the, a, this, or my), not applying this rule could be confusing to an L2
learner expecting an article.

Theme Of Love In The Canterbury Tales
The idea of love in marriage is a reoccurring theme within British literature, and Chaucer s The
Canterbury Tales is no exception. The Canterbury Tales consists of a multitude of short stories which
offers a peek into what the social culture of England in the Middle Ages may have been like. Two
stories, in particular, are The Millers Tale and The Knights Tale, which are two contrasting stories that
juxtaposes each other s stance on love in marriage. From the very moment Palamon and Arcite lay
eyes on Emily in The Knights Tale, they are struck with a love so intense that they feel sick to their
stomachs. Although this may seem like a typical cliche, this behavior is also fairly typical within the
courtly love genre. Palamon and Arcite view Emily as a goddess, even going as far as to potentially
break the knight s oath. Soon after, Duke Theseus enters the scene and questions Palamon and Arcite s
intense love. Theseus believes that love has the powerful ability to bend people s heart at will. This is
evident between Palamon and Arcite as they are willing to break the oath which they are sworn into to
fulfill their desires. Ironically, Theseus himself had committed silly acts for the name of love and
believes that the wretch I am, now weeping, wailing thus, ( The Knights Tale 931). The Knights Tale
has a seemingly conflicting stance on love in that it paints an ennobling portrayal of courtly love in a
degrading way. For example, it is evident that Arcite and Palamon

Jean Paul Lawrence Kohlberg s Theory Of Moral Development

of good and evil are a result of the moral atmosphere they breathe Jean Paul Lawrence Kohlberg (the
pioneer of the second major perspective on moral development) proposed that moral reasoning is
developed when people pass through three levels which comprise of two stages each as they grow
older. He investigated the nature of moral thought by interacting with children, presenting them with a
story in which moral dilemmas were faced by the characters in the story. This is what led to the birth

Kohlberg on Moral Development A professor at Harvard University developed a theory of moral
development which incorporated the thinking of a Swiss psychologist named Jean Piaget and an
American philosopher named John Dewey (Barger, 2000). The professor went by the name Lawrence

these ideas further (Piaget, 1932). He incorporated the method of telling a story that presents a
dilemma that Piaget came up with, which would give people options for them to choose what they
would feel is right choice (Kohlberg, 1958). Kohlberg (1984) presented the dilemmas as moral
dilemmas, and the way an individual reasoned the dilemma would determine the stage (with regards to
moral development) in which he would classify them. Kohlberg used the reasons that the individuals

Analysis Of Stairway To Heaven
No matter how many times somebody is asked to give an explanation to what the song Stairway to
Heaven really perseveres, different answers will be given every time. The song Stairway to Heaven
was written by Led Zeppelin in 1971. Throughout all these years, still everybody has their own
interpretation to the song, and they will respond differently based upon what the true meaning of the
song really is. The reason being is, the song represents many different values throughout it, and it is
the others choice to determine the outlook on it.
In 1980, Led Zeppelin could have had the biggest tour in the history of rock and roll. Although, this
never happened because one of the members, Rob Plant, refused to be a part of it. He rejected to

Stairway to Heaven. To begin with, when asked about Rob Plant s interpretation of the song, he

that the lyrics took some rough shots. In the beginning of it, he claims that it is meant towards a
woman who strives for money, only to find out the unpleasant way that is going to be keeping her
from reaching her stairway to heaven. Rob Plant had no other reason for stating what his meaning was
towards writing the song, but he did note that he saw it as a woman getting everything she wanted

that no laws may be made to violate the people s freedom of speech the first amendment itself

people with similar interests and by denying them the use of independent expenditures it is denying
them of their freedom of speech. The concurring opinion in Citizens United v. FEC however argued
that, The Framers didn t like corporations, the dissent concludes, and therefore it follows (as night the
day) that corporations had no rights of free speech, (Document K). The idea that corporations should
have no rights simply because the Framers felt it should be so on the grounds of an old grudge is
preposterous. As previously stated, corporations, like unions, are composed of the people, and the
people have undeniable rights allotted to them by the Constitution.

The Resolution of Conflicts
To live anyhow is better than not at all (Chekhov 1) , the short story, The Bet commenced with the
conflict when the person had no choice but to choose between the death penalty or life in prison. The
Bet was originally written by Anton Chekhov, a profound Russian short story writer who concentrated
a lot on human values and the reflection of the extravagantly selfish Russian nobility. And through
The Bet he was able to express all those ideas in two sides, the banker and the lawyer with the conflict
along the story line. The author introduced the story with a momentary flashback that the banker
recalled at night what happened in the past instead of going directly to the party from fifteen years
ago. Well, this flashback style for ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
With the banker s conspiracy, after finishing the elimination, he would blame all of the dirty works to
the watchman. In the context He groped his way into a little passage and lighted a match. There was
not a soul there (Chekhov, 4) even that the banker, a human being with soul was there. The author
used this saying as an innuendo, alluding that the banker had sold his soul to the devil for the money.
According to the Bible (1 Timothy 6:10), The love of money is the root of all kinds of evil . After the
banker examined that the watchman and the lawyer were deeply asleep, he made up his mind to sneak
in the imprisoned room. The banker saw the lawyer was sleeping in the desk with the note in front of
his bowed head. Before killing the lawyer, the banker decided to read the notes. And surprisingly, on
the contrary with the banker s thought he is asleep and most likely dreaming of the millions...
(Chekhov, 4), the lawyer stated in the notes that he would renounce the money, break the contract by
escaping before the stipulated time because he had achieved something more important than two
million dollars and he was satisfied with that. The banker kissed the strange man on the head, got back
to his room but could not stop crying for hours and hours until receiving the news from the watchman
that the lawyer had fled through the windows. He arrived at the basement later, took the

Paper About Forgiveness
RE Assignment Anthony.Pulling
PART 1
The concept of forgiveness is a very important forgiveness, without it the world would be a very very
different place.Forgiveness is the action or process of being forgiven, or to be forgiven. Forgiveness
has been displayed in the article because Kaine Barnett carelessly drove his car into the emergency
stopping lane on the Hume Highway killing Sarah Frazer and Geoffry Clarke the tow truck helping
her.
The father of Sarah Frazer feels very sorry for Kaine he said in court we don t want Kaine to be in
prison for the next 18 months to 3 years. Kaine could have been my son. Any of this could of
happened to any of our families. We don t hate him. We feel so sorry that he has to go through this.

The catholic sacrament of forgiveness is very important because no one is perfect ever since Adam
and Eve were tempted by the devil to eat the apple from the garden of Eden no human being was
perfect (Except for Mary). Imagine today s society without forgiveness and how many sins would be
left unforgiven.
Jesus Christ himself displayed a mind blowing level of forgiveness when he was being nailed to the
cross. ...33When they came to the place called The Skull, there they crucified Him and the criminals,
one on the right and the other on the left. 34But Jesus was saying, Father, forgive them; for they do not
know what they are doing. And they cast lots, dividing up His garments among themselves. 35And the
people stood by, looking on. And even the rulers were sneering at Him, saying, He saved others; let
Him save Himself if this is the Christ of God, His Chosen One. ... Luke 23:24 (BibleHub.com)
In the article it is clearly stated that Kaine has remorse for his actions One factor is Kaine s remorse. It
is harder to hate someone when they already hate themselves. Since causing the two deaths, Kaine has
suffered post traumatic stress disorder with its associated depression, anxiety, flashbacks,
sleeplessness and suicidal thoughts. (The Age

Reflection Paper On Reading Skills
From working with Joe for the past few weeks, I noticed there were a few different reading skills that
he could use some practice with. One of the first things I noticed while working with Joe was his
fluency while reading. During the running records I had done with Joe, I was able to listen to his
reading pace, and noticed that he only took pauses when he needed to take a breath. I also noticed that
he used no expression while reading; not even when there was quotation marks present. Another
reading skill that Joe lacked was good use of a decoding strategy. When Joe was presented with a
word he didn t know, he would use picture cues, but when that didn t work, or when illustrations were
minimal, Joe would simply skip over the word. When I asked Joe what he liked to do when he came
across a word he didn t know he said, I don t know . I got a similar answer when I asked him if he
knew what his teacher, and friends did when they came across a word they didn t know. This
observation showed me that Joe could really benefit from having a decoding strategy presented to him
in a minilesson. On the first day of co teaching; my partner and I focused on teaching a decoding
strategy, so we could practice that strategy if needed while doing a fluency exercise the next time we
met. Taberski mentions how working with words, and decoding strategy will help students move from
hesitancy to fluency (pg 87). Both Alexa and I thought that our learning partners could benefit from

The Importance Of Teaching A Past Lesson
One of the greatest aspects of teaching is having the opportunity to engage with students. Engaging in
the practice requires that teachers are constantly reflecting and wondering how they can better
enhance their performance. This is often done through reflecting on past lessons as well as actively
seeking appropriate leadership roles and opportunities. Effective teachers are master reflectors who
always understand how their actions contribute to the success of their students, their families and their
communities. Effective teachers are also sure that they are using their reflections and new knowledge
to inform their practice. In addition to reflecting on their own practice, new teachers are always
reading to collaborate with superiors or colleagues in order to gain new and innovative information.
My first piece of evidence I have included for Standard 9 is an analysis of a past lesson. In the
analysis, I carefully reflect on the effects my choices and actions in the classroom have impacted my
students. Despite how passionately teachers may feel about engaging with students, it is important that
we are constantly wondering how we can improve our performance in the classroom. Little that
happens in the classroom happens for no reason. Constant reflection allows for teachers and students
alike to understand how classroom interactions can become more meaningful. In addition to my lesson
analysis, I have also included a lesson plan and its subsequent reflection. The lesson

Good Thesis Statement
To start out of making a good research paper is, to know a good thesis statement to write down on
paper and to evaluate an issue or an idea and presents the breakdown and evaluation to your audience
(owl.english.purdue.edu). Make sure you find the main point of your subject for your paper and try to
summarize your thesis and the evidence you are using to support that point. You should always make
sure you have your paper in the right format before you even begin on writing. Then you explain
something to your audience so that it flows well with the rest of your paper (owl.english.purdue.edu).
You write an argumentative paper that makes a claim about a topic and justifies your claim with
specific evidence. Your claim can be an opinion, a policy ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Furthermore, always when you are writing a paper is to put as much in your own words as possible
and try not to paraphrase that much and cite as much as possible. In addition, make sure that the citing
matches your references. You then have to proofread your draft paper and to see that it is in proper
format with a good introduction and conclusion then you can start writing your final paper. However,
proofreading is important to go back and revise your paper (owl.english.purdue.edu). I think the
easiest part of conducting a research paper is about what topic that interests me to write. The things I
struggle with most are how to start out writing and putting it all together on paper. Choosing a good
topic and keep from having writer s block when you start writing. Also check to my grammar,
wordiness or making sure it makes sense. However, when it has been brought to my attention that I am
making mistakes and need help I contact a tutor. Because writing research papers are harder for me to
understand and to put it all together to make any sense. The most important thing for me is looking
forward in the remainder of my schooling is to make sure I write in my forums and my assignments
and check my spelling, grammar, citing, and make sure, when I am doing research to pick a scholarly
peer review site or a reliable website. Moreover, to make

As mentioned in Appendix B PEST, the customer s income plays a huge role in selecting a product
therefore if they decide to bypass fair trade products because of the premium price they can hold allot
of buyer power, thus making buyer power in the industry high.
Threat of Substitutes: There are various substitutes for fair trade coffee in the industry such as regular
coffee, tea etc but not only coffees but in the general beverages market e.g. Coca Cola, Water etc. As a
result of this there is a very high threat of substitutes.
Supplier Power: Supplier power is relatively low as the industry is fair trade coffee. From previous
knowledge, coffee suppliers were being exploited and continued to produce. It is simply because of
the willingness to partake in fair trade that they have gained power. However I still believe that due to
the underdevelopment of the producing countries allot of the power still lies with the buyers.
Competitive Rivalry: Competitive rivalry is relatively high as seen in previous competitor analysis.
There are many competitors in the local market and on the shelf within the mainstream markets.

Relationship Between The West And Iran
The relationship between the West and Iran has been notoriously rocky. Several main factors
accumulating at the beginning in the 20th century have led to a perfect storm of religion, imperialism
and radicalism that have come together to create the Islamic Republic of Iran that was built primarily
on anti Americanism. How did this happen and why is this republic so anti American? The Islamic
Republic is built upon a revolutionary type of anti Americanism that can be found among opposition
groups seeking to overthrow regimes closely identified with the United States; attacking such regimes
thus involves attacking the United States. Researcher and analyst, Ray Takeyh, a Senior Fellow for
Middle Eastern Studies on the Council on Foreign Relations, says Iran persistently puzzles Westerners
with its dualities, contradictions and paradoxes. He says the West constantly gets Iran wrong because
of its failure to understand Iran s factional politics and ideology. These dualities and contradictions,
for Takeyh, see Iran, in essence, as suffering from an identity crisis.
While the Persians continue to find themselves in the modern world, it is clear that Iran has been
shaped and manipulated by foreign regimes in the past that has left Iran encompassed in delusion,
paranoia and mistrust of the West. Adam Tarock, professor of Political Science, from the University of
Melbourne, elegantly noted the pattern of Iranian foreign policy showing the dualities and
inconsistencies of

Cattle Giants Research Paper
The Gentle Giants
Though there are many different types of elephant across the world, they are most commonly
classified as either African or Asian elephants then from there are broken down into different genuses.
Growing ten to twelve feet in height and weighing up to eleven tons, the biggest of all the elephants
and the largest land mammal is my personal favorite, the African bush elephant. These massive
animals are found walking the plains and grasslands in southern and central Africa, always on the
move searching for food and watering holes. Surprising as it may be, these giants are herbivores and
with the less protein intake, these mammals must eat three hundred pounds of vegetation, or more if
pregnant, each day to be able to maintain their bodies. The gestation period for these mammals is
twenty two to twenty four months and after birth the baby will stay with it s mother and her herd for
six years, nursing for the first two of those years. After six years the baby then is beginning to grow
their tusks showing they re nearing adulthood and will either join the herd, if a female, or go off on his
own if a male. The young males after reaching the age of ten will then be considered sexually mature
and will then return to one of the herds if he hears the powerful low ... Show more content on

Sadly those aren t the only dangers that elephants suffer from, this breed of elephant almost went
extinct due to poachers and forced the government to place a world wide hunting ban on them in 1989.
Along with the massive tusks, the elephant has a long extension of their nose called a trunk that they
also use in self defense. Because of it containing forty thousand muscles and tendons they also use
their trunk to pick up food, suck up water, and also to preform a sort of elephant sign

  • 2. Misogyny Reoccurs In Candide Voltaire, the pen name of François Marie Arouet, was very creative in his way of outing the pure ridiculousness of the ideas and morals of 18th century Europeans. In the mid 1700 s, Voltaire penned the adventures of Candide s quest to find his love, and how his innocence is corrupted along the way. Candide possesses many main ideas, including misogyny, the exploitation of women, the unholy acts that holy men perform, and the fatal flaws of optimism, which leads me to believe that 18th century Europe was doomed to a fate of death, terror, and violence. The theme of misogyny reoccurs throughout the entire story of Candide and scenes of violence and the rape of women imply that these were common occurrences at this time. As Candide deserts ... The old woman that nurses Candide back to health after he is whipped by the Inquisition slowly becomes a friend of Candide s and tells him that she is the daughter of Pope Urban the Tenth and the Princess of Palestrina. (19) Popes must solemnly promise to be celibate and Pope Urban breaks his promise by having a child. The fact that the highest figure of authority in the Catholic faith sinned by corrupts his vow of chastity conveys the message that nobody can be completely pure and honest. At the inn where Candide, Cunegonde, and the old woman stay while escaping punishment for killing the Grand Inquisitor and a Jew, all of Cunegonde s riches are stolen by the reverend Franciscan friar (17) who stayed at the inn with them. Franciscan friars make a vow to live life with nothing and this man ironically breaks this promise by stealing the gold and jewels from Cunegonde. This man who promised to live in poverty sins when he falls into the trap of thinking money equals happiness and becomes a thief. Voltaire proves that no matter who you are, sinning is inevitable; religion is shown to be full of hypocrisy as many religious authorities in Candide go against what they claim to believe ... Brahma is acknowledged as the creator as he periodically creates everything in the universe, periodically due to the Hindu cyclical belief of everything being created for a certain period of time and destroyed only to be renewed in a new form once again. Of the three greatest Hindu deities, Lord Brahma dominates the first position, that of the creator. As creator of all things, Brahma must have people of his own flesh; the most significant one, Goddess Saraswathy, consort and daughter of Brahma. Besides Saraswathy, there are four sages that roam the universe as Brahma s first mind born creations and sons; Sanaka, Sanatana, Sananadana and Sanatkumara. The four Kumaras were the only sons born out of Brahma s mind rather than his body and were the only ones who refused his order to procreate, therefore devoted themselves to Vishnu and celibacy. If we claim we are for family, then we have to pull together and resolve the outstanding issues around our broken immigration system. The American people support comprehensive immigration reform not just because it s the right thing to do and it is but because it will strengthen families, strengthen our economy, and strengthen our country. That s why we can t wait any longer, we can t wait any longer for a path to full and equal citizenship. • 21. Love Not Legalism By Madeleine L Engle Love Not Legalism Madeleine L Engle was a fierce thought provoking writer. She challenged me as both a believer and a writer. Her scatterbrained writing style was relatable to me and so were the things she talked about. She would have been a wonderful wise woman to grab a meal with. She did not shy away from controversial topics; but instead, she introduced them. In Walking on Water L Engle sought to share the freedom available to us if we allow Jesus Christ to break us free from our chains. One of the topics that L Engle humbly addressed was the topic of legalism. I greatly appreciated this because I find that many world renowned leaders shy away from talking about it, when in reality it may be one of the enemy s most disguised tools. When people see God as an unapproachable killjoy, it becomes natural to grow distant from Him, and I know that before becoming a Christian this was the biggest stumbling block for me and I know some of the most kindhearted people cannot grasp the fact that God loves them and that He sent His one and only son to save them. L Engle also tackled the major misconception that God does not know how to laugh. He created humor and is pretty humorous himself. George MacDonald said, It is the Heart that is not yet sure of its God that is afraid to laugh in His presence (131). I am learning that more and more every day. • 28. Analysis Of The Article Heart Of Darkness Essay determiner: Words such as a/an, the, some, and my are determiners, which are utilized to determine what nouns mean. A/an and the can be considered to be the most significant determiners. A/an and the also are known as articles. A more comprehensive list of determiners would include any, each, every, no, his, this/that, these/those, his, her, its, your, our, and their. A concept basic to articles is countability, and they pose difficult challenges for L2 learners regarding, for example, which nouns are countable or uncountable in English since countability, while very important, can be difficult to quantify. An example regarding the use of the article would be the novel Heart of Darkness. Not having an article at the beginning of this title appears to be more a matter of style than grammar, and also is a characteristic of headlines, titles, and names. So while conventionally a countable noun (such as heart) needs a determiner (the, a, this, or my), not applying this rule could be confusing to an L2 learner expecting an article. 2. perfective: In English, there are two aspects (see next entry for a definition of aspect ) perfect (also called perfective) and continuous (also termed progressive). • 32. Theme Of Love In The Canterbury Tales The idea of love in marriage is a reoccurring theme within British literature, and Chaucer s The Canterbury Tales is no exception. The Canterbury Tales consists of a multitude of short stories which offers a peek into what the social culture of England in the Middle Ages may have been like. Two stories, in particular, are The Millers Tale and The Knights Tale, which are two contrasting stories that juxtaposes each other s stance on love in marriage. From the very moment Palamon and Arcite lay eyes on Emily in The Knights Tale, they are struck with a love so intense that they feel sick to their stomachs. Although this may seem like a typical cliche, this behavior is also fairly typical within the courtly love genre. Palamon and Arcite view Emily as a goddess, even going as far as to potentially break the knight s oath. Soon after, Duke Theseus enters the scene and questions Palamon and Arcite s intense love. Theseus believes that love has the powerful ability to bend people s heart at will. This is evident between Palamon and Arcite as they are willing to break the oath which they are sworn into to fulfill their desires. Ironically, Theseus himself had committed silly acts for the name of love and believes that the wretch I am, now weeping, wailing thus, ( The Knights Tale 931). In a republican government the power resides in the elected officials chosen by the public whom they represent. It is common knowledge that the public s opinions will ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The idea that corporations and unions shouldn t be able to express themselves through independent expenditures directly violates the first amendment. The first amendment reads, Congress shall make no law... abridging the freedom of speech, or of the press, or the right of the people peaceably to assemble and to petition the Government for a redress of grievances, (Document C). Explicitly stating that no laws may be made to violate the people s freedom of speech the first amendment itself practically declares the denial of independent expenditures by corporations and unions unconstitutional. Both corporations and unions are formed by the people, they are simply groups of people with similar interests and by denying them the use of independent expenditures it is denying them of their freedom of speech. The concurring opinion in Citizens United v. FEC however argued that, The Framers didn t like corporations, the dissent concludes, and therefore it follows (as night the day) that corporations had no rights of free speech, (Document K). The idea that corporations should have no rights simply because the Framers felt it should be so on the grounds of an old grudge is preposterous. As previously stated, corporations, like unions, are composed of the people, and the people have undeniable rights allotted to them by the Constitution. ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 41. The Resolution of Conflicts To live anyhow is better than not at all (Chekhov 1) , the short story, The Bet commenced with the conflict when the person had no choice but to choose between the death penalty or life in prison. The Bet was originally written by Anton Chekhov, a profound Russian short story writer who concentrated a lot on human values and the reflection of the extravagantly selfish Russian nobility. And through The Bet he was able to express all those ideas in two sides, the banker and the lawyer with the conflict along the story line. The author introduced the story with a momentary flashback that the banker recalled at night what happened in the past instead of going directly to the party from fifteen years ago. Well, this flashback style for ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... With the banker s conspiracy, after finishing the elimination, he would blame all of the dirty works to the watchman. In the context He groped his way into a little passage and lighted a match. There was not a soul there (Chekhov, 4) even that the banker, a human being with soul was there. The author used this saying as an innuendo, alluding that the banker had sold his soul to the devil for the money. According to the Bible (1 Timothy 6:10), The love of money is the root of all kinds of evil . After the banker examined that the watchman and the lawyer were deeply asleep, he made up his mind to sneak in the imprisoned room. The banker saw the lawyer was sleeping in the desk with the note in front of his bowed head. Before killing the lawyer, the banker decided to read the notes. And surprisingly, on the contrary with the banker s thought he is asleep and most likely dreaming of the millions... (Chekhov, 4), the lawyer stated in the notes that he would renounce the money, break the contract by escaping before the stipulated time because he had achieved something more important than two million dollars and he was satisfied with that. The banker kissed the strange man on the head, got back to his room but could not stop crying for hours and hours until receiving the news from the watchman that the lawyer had fled through the windows. • 43. Reflection Paper On Reading Skills From working with Joe for the past few weeks, I noticed there were a few different reading skills that he could use some practice with. One of the first things I noticed while working with Joe was his fluency while reading. During the running records I had done with Joe, I was able to listen to his reading pace, and noticed that he only took pauses when he needed to take a breath. I also noticed that he used no expression while reading; not even when there was quotation marks present. Another reading skill that Joe lacked was good use of a decoding strategy. When Joe was presented with a word he didn t know, he would use picture cues, but when that didn t work, or when illustrations were minimal, Joe would simply skip over the word. When I asked Joe what he liked to do when he came across a word he didn t know he said, I don t know . I got a similar answer when I asked him if he knew what his teacher, and friends did when they came across a word they didn t know. This observation showed me that Joe could really benefit from having a decoding strategy presented to him in a minilesson. On the first day of co teaching; my partner and I focused on teaching a decoding strategy, so we could practice that strategy if needed while doing a fluency exercise the next time we met. Taberski mentions how working with words, and decoding strategy will help students move from hesitancy to fluency (pg 87). • 44. The Importance Of Teaching A Past Lesson One of the greatest aspects of teaching is having the opportunity to engage with students. Engaging in the practice requires that teachers are constantly reflecting and wondering how they can better enhance their performance. This is often done through reflecting on past lessons as well as actively seeking appropriate leadership roles and opportunities. Effective teachers are master reflectors who always understand how their actions contribute to the success of their students, their families and their communities. Effective teachers are also sure that they are using their reflections and new knowledge to inform their practice. In addition to reflecting on their own practice, new teachers are always reading to collaborate with superiors or colleagues in order to gain new and innovative information. My first piece of evidence I have included for Standard 9 is an analysis of a past lesson. In the analysis, I carefully reflect on the effects my choices and actions in the classroom have impacted my students. Despite how passionately teachers may feel about engaging with students, it is important that we are constantly wondering how we can improve our performance in the classroom. Little that happens in the classroom happens for no reason. Constant reflection allows for teachers and students alike to understand how classroom interactions can become more meaningful. In addition to my lesson analysis, I have also included a lesson plan and its subsequent reflection. The lesson ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Make sure you find the main point of your subject for your paper and try to summarize your thesis and the evidence you are using to support that point. You should always make sure you have your paper in the right format before you even begin on writing. Furthermore, always when you are writing a paper is to put as much in your own words as possible and try not to paraphrase that much and cite as much as possible. In addition, make sure that the citing matches your references. You then have to proofread your draft paper and to see that it is in proper format with a good introduction and conclusion then you can start writing your final paper. However, proofreading is important to go back and revise your paper (owl.english.purdue.edu). I think the easiest part of conducting a research paper is about what topic that interests me to write. Supplier Power: Supplier power is relatively low as the industry is fair trade coffee. From previous knowledge, coffee suppliers were being exploited and continued to produce. • 47. Relationship Between The West And Iran The relationship between the West and Iran has been notoriously rocky. Several main factors accumulating at the beginning in the 20th century have led to a perfect storm of religion, imperialism and radicalism that have come together to create the Islamic Republic of Iran that was built primarily on anti Americanism. How did this happen and why is this republic so anti American? The Islamic Republic is built upon a revolutionary type of anti Americanism that can be found among opposition groups seeking to overthrow regimes closely identified with the United States; attacking such regimes thus involves attacking the United States. Researcher and analyst, Ray Takeyh, a Senior Fellow for Middle Eastern Studies on the Council on Foreign Relations, says Iran persistently puzzles Westerners with its dualities, contradictions and paradoxes. He says the West constantly gets Iran wrong because of its failure to understand Iran s factional politics and ideology. These dualities and contradictions, for Takeyh, see Iran, in essence, as suffering from an identity crisis. While the Persians continue to find themselves in the modern world, it is clear that Iran has been shaped and manipulated by foreign regimes in the past that has left Iran encompassed in delusion, paranoia and mistrust of the West. Adam Tarock, professor of Political Science, from the University of Melbourne, elegantly noted the pattern of Iranian foreign policy showing the dualities and inconsistencies of ... Cattle Giants Research Paper The Gentle Giants Though there are many different types of elephant across the world, they are most commonly classified as either African or Asian elephants then from there are broken down into different genuses. Growing ten to twelve feet in height and weighing up to eleven tons, the biggest of all the elephants and the largest land mammal is my personal favorite, the African bush elephant. These massive animals are found walking the plains and grasslands in southern and central Africa, always on the move searching for food and watering holes. Surprising as it may be, these giants are herbivores and with the less protein intake, these mammals must eat three hundred pounds of vegetation, or more if pregnant, each day to be able to maintain their bodies. The gestation period for these mammals is twenty two to twenty four months and after birth the baby will stay with it s mother and her herd for six years, nursing for the first two of those years. After six years the baby then is beginning to grow their tusks showing they re nearing adulthood and will either join the herd, if a female, or go off on his own if a male. The young males after reaching the age of ten will then be considered sexually mature and will then return to one of the herds if he hears the powerful low ...
