Visual Illusions Essay
My project is over visual effects and how the eye works. This project was chosen because I have
always wondered how the human eye works and Visual trickery. Also because sometimes some visual
illusions are impossible to figure out and are really cool so I am very interested on how they work and
how to create one on my own. How do visual illusions work on the human eye? This paragraph is
going to be about to the receptive field. The receptive field is a term originally coined by Sherrington
(1960) to describe an area of the body surface where a stimulus could elicit a reflex (Alonso). The
receptive field is important because it helps explain what it is and how it works. Retinal ganglion cells

Symptoms And Diagnosis Of Psoriasis
Symptoms/ Diagnosis of the Pathology: Red, raised, dry, inflamed, scaly areas on the body and the
pitting of the nails describe the common appearance of the pathological disease of psoriasis. Doctors
often find it difficult to determine psoriasis because it is very similar to other skin disorders. There are
several ways to confirm its medical diagnosis, dermatologist may analyze your skin, nails, and scalp
(Langley, 2010). A dermatologist is a specialist trained in skin diseases. If not determined by the naked
eye, further investigations are needed to determine the type of psoriasis. It can be tested by a biopsy of
the skin which is performed by examining the skin under a microscope, x rays could determine joint
swelling or joint deformity, a blood test to determine arthritis, and medical history.
Physiological Basis of the Pathology: Psoriasis was copied from the Greek word psora, which means
to itch (Jean, 2011). Psoriasis is a chronic, long lasting autoimmune skin disease that disturbs the
speed of the growth cycle in skin cells (Stress Related Disorder Sourcebook, 2016). Normal, healthy
skin cells replace dead skin cells every twenty eight to thirty days (Langley, 2005). Skin is the largest
organ in the body. It protects from the environment, regulates body temperature, helps coordinate
immune system regulation, function of touch sensations, waterproof, and prevents toxin substances
from entering the body (Langley,2010). Psoriasis effects greater than three percent

San Ferville Research Paper
San Fermines is a religious and popular festival, which takes place in Pamplona, the capital of
Navarra. The festivities take place from 6 to 14 July, and are full of different activities, although the
best known are those that are related to bulls, such as confinement. The origin of the festival dates
back to the Middle Ages, celebrated as religious functions, in honor of San FermĂn. Legend has it that
San FermĂn was a Pamplona bishop settled in France, who worked several miracles throughout his
life. Because of the cult he was getting, he was ordered to be incarcerated and finally Degollaran. The
news about San FermĂn did not arrive in Pamplona until the 12th century, when the religious activities
began in his honor. The festival was held on November 10th, but it was requested to change the date
due to the temporary mal in autumn. It ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
It is a rocket that launches as the opening of the festivities, then, the people knot the famous red scarf
in the neck, representing the decapitation of San FermĂn. From that moment on they live 9 days of

July every morning at 8. This is a fast and tense race, which aims to move the Bulls, running ahead of
them, to the bullring, where they will deal in the afternoon. Due to the multitude of people who come
every year the security has been increased so that the closures and the parties can pass with tranquility.
We found during the nine days we found activities like the Fiesta del Toro; Composed of bullfights
every afternoon, religious acts; Vespers, procession and octave, festivals and music, sports and
children s activities ... And to all this you must add the constant main fiesta of the San Fermines, the

Impact Of Over Ten Years Of War On The Military
Impact of over ten years of war on the military
In October 2001, as a consequence of the attack on the twin towers in New York City, and the
Pentagon in Washington, DC. The President of the United States (POTUS) at the time George W.
Bush, declared the war against the Taliban, more precisely against Osama Bin Laden, Who was the
person responsible for the attack. For this reason the POTUS decided to send troops to the country of
Afghanistan, to fight and capture the Taliban s leaders, and bring them to justice. Two years after the
conflict in Afghanistan began, the invasion to Iraq started, and the purpose of this new fight was to
overthrow Saddam Hussein and his regime. These two engagements known as the Operation Iraqi
Freedom (OIF) and ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The service members are not the only ones that the feel pain of these injuries and illnesses alone. Most
of them are married and have dependent children. Some service members are married to another
service member, making more difficult for the children, when both parent are deployed. During the
past thirteen years these families have suffered extensive and multiple deployments, frequent
relocations, and the very real threat of harm occurring to their loved one. Adversities and stress do not
necessarily remit when service members return home. Dealing with with and managing a service
member s physical or psychological disability, occupational and financial challenges, and altered
family roles represent common and sometimes permanent stressors. Definitely, many of the children
in these families have never known life without the difficult realities of war.
Military Families face a number of challenges before, during, and after deployment. The issues start
when service member bring the news of a possible deployment to the spouse and the rest of the family.
It starts with emotions, such as fear because of the possibility of the service member no coming back
and anger for the reason that the spouse will have to stay at home dealing with everything alone. As
the day of the deployment gets closer, the service member start a period of detachment and pulling
out. This can happen to prepare the spouse and realize that the service member will be physically

Henry Viii And The Succession
From 1533 to 1553 the succession line in England dismembered itself into a churning goblet of
contrasting egos. (hook) One minute Henry VIII was declaring his first born child a Bastard and his
second child, the rightful ruler of England, the next minute he swore that both were bastards, and
therefore needed to make a formal will. By doing this, Henry VIII had the unusual opportunity to
choose his successor(s). First in line would be his new son, then his bastard daughters who would be
named legitimate heirs to the throne if needed. After them, Frances Grey would inherit the title. This
left Lady Jane Grey fourth in line to the throne. In the succession acts, that Henry VIII also passed
before Edward VI could declare his will, Henry made it very clear that if another person were to
interrupt his line of succession, he or she would be executed for treason. It appeared to England as if
Jane was digging her heels into Henry s succession in 1553 when she took the throne; disrupting the
succession and committing treason. They would execute her for this.(discussion) People today should
consider Lady Jane Grey to be just as heroic and brave as we have realized Joan of Arc to be. (thesis)
From Jane s exceptional dedication to learning, to how she compares to other rulers that came after
her, it becomes evident that Jane s parents, The Duke of Northumberland, and Henry VIII robbed their
country of another elegant lasting female ruler, rather than Jane being the one who was

George Orwell s Stance on Capital Punishment in Essay, A...
The essay A Hanging by George Orwell speaks to the reader about the author s stance on capital
punishment. I believe that Orwell was able to communicate his point, without actually saying I m
against capital punishment, through three steps. The first step is to set the mood and bring you into his
perspective. From the dreary description of the morning to the slow procession of the condemned man
to the gallows, Orwell puts the reader in a mood that conveys the experience of watching a man die.
The second step is to compare himself to the condemned man, showing how we are all equal. A life is
a life, whether you are a condemned man or not. The third step is to show how everyone tries to cope
with the aftermath of the execution. This ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
When he talks about the wrongness of taking a man s life, I get the sense that this was something that
shook him to the core. This was a basic human reaction to death. Death is unpleasant and generally
unwelcome, so why must we kill someone who is just as alive as we are? The condemned man feels,
sees, and thinks like us, an equal. The condemned man was considered equal by the dog in the essay. I
see the dog as symbolism for equality. It did not matter to the dog that the man was sentenced to
death. He was another human being, a potential friend that was alive and well. After the execution, the
dog seemed to know the wrongness of not only his misbehaving but that of taking a life as well. I
think that everyone is an equal and that life is something special. Everyone seems to deal with death
differently. As the essay concludes, Orwell mentions how everyone was laughing and that it was a
homely and jovial scene. I do not think that I would be laughing after the death of someone who was
hung right in front of me. Most people tend to be solemn and sad after someone dies but certainly not
laughing. I believe that for some laughing is just a coping mechanism used to deal with the gravity of
what just happened. They feel extremely relieved that the terrible situation is over, yet I think the
memory remains with them. Others perhaps are heartless and think that the man deserved

The True Power Of Music
Music is an important factor to the life of every human. It invokes the the strongest of emotions and
can trigger long forgotten memories, even after years of suppression. Humans tend to take the
mysterious power of music for granted, however after this paper I hope to reveal the true power of
music and how it could be the greatest things to have ever happen. All throughout history, music
follows and evolves with mankind to become a natural occurrence where without music, the world
would feel empty, why might that be? Ben Mauk, a contributor to Life s Little Mysteries, believes, As
stimulation for food and sex are important for an organism s survival, the fact that similar neural
activity is observed in responses to features in music suggests that there could be some evolutionary
advantage to the ability to hear or hum a good tune (Mauk). While Mauk s belief of music s existence
is because of instinctive stimulation, I believe music is popular because of the multitude patterns that
the human brain can follow. The human brain attempts to find patterns in everything it performs, for
example a worker performing their daily tasks but when they break that system they may be unsure
what to do with their extra time. Even though we might disagree in the invention of music but we
could both agree on that music brings people together. On the other hand, Tom de Castella, a writer for
BBC News Magazine, would argue, It can be lonely travelling through public space and using

William Shakespeare s Julius Caesar

trust in others and his love of Rome are his greatest faults. His tragic flaw is the trust he places in
others. Brutus is easily swayed to trust Cassius when he plots to kill Caesar. Cassius uses his cunning
to trick Brutus into believing Caesar is ambitious and that he is killing Caesar for the good of Rome.
Cassius says to Brutus, Why, man, he doth bestride the narrow world like a Colossus, and we petty
men walk under his huge legs...the fault, dear Brutus is not in our stars, but in ourselves, that we are
underlings (Shakespeare Act I. ii. 142 148). Cassius is speaking of how Caesar is becoming almost
like a tyrant or emperor in the aspect that he is becoming more powerful than everyone else. Brutus
love Rome dearly and does not want it destroyed or ruled by a tyrant or emperor. Therefore, Brutus is
manipulated by Cassius into murdering Caesar. Later on after Caesar is murdered, Antony makes a
speech that is full of irony. His speech tells of how Brutus says Caesar was an ambitious man, and that
Brutus is an honorable man. Antony says, Brutus says he was ambitious, and Brutus is an honorable
man... When the poor have cried, Caesar hath wept; ambition should be made of sterner stuff. Yet
Brutus says he was ambitious, and Brutus is an honorable man (Shakespeare Act III. ii. 95 103).
Throughout his speech, Antony says Brutus is an honorable man, and that Brutus said Caesar

Battle Of Somme Essay
Artillery s Impact of the Battle of Somme The Royal British Army at the time of the Battle of Somme
was 256 years old, and they had plenty of success as an Army. The French Army was 471 years old,
and shared in their own success as a military. The success of the Battle of the Somme would lean
heavily on artillery support. The British had 1,500 artillery pieces ranging from light artillery 18
pounder guns, to heavy artillery 15 inch howitzers. The French brought an equal amount of artillery to
support in the success of the mission. Throughout the Great War the British had great success in using
artillery to shape the battlefield, setting the conditions for battle and would do so again in the Battle of

Jabil wanted Muhammad to preach Gods will and he was afraid, but then his family and friends
convinced him to become a prophet. Mohammed was chosen to bring back the people to a religion of
only worshiping one god. Over time the orally taught text was written down to be the Quran. The
central theme of the Quran is monotheism. God is described as a living, eternal, and all powerful God.

Democratization Of The United States
Does people with criminal records should have the right to vote? My answer is NO. However, with the
development of industrial society and modern technology, the continuous improvement of the degree
of rationalization, democratization becomes a non stop inverse trend. In developed countries

When the reorganization of the airlines in operation occurred, the network of scheduled flights from

Omega 6 Fatty Acids
The purpose of the modification of the bacon was to make it more healthier. The researchers changed
the omega 6 fatty acids into omega 3 fatty acids because omega 3 is considered the healthy fat. So
instead of getting it from sources like fish and other sources they wanted to find a way to modify a
gene to change that omega 6 into omega 3 to make the bacon a healthier version of itself. This use of
technology scares me sometimes because many are cloning animals in ways they weren t meant to be
in the first place. They don t even know for sure that this method is completely safe so more research
and observation needs to be done before they start using this. I believe that if their is omega 3 in a
specific source we need to go and consume that source. We need to get our nutrients exactly where
they originate from and not by injecting specific genes into foods were they aren t meant to be. ...

Schematic Diagram For Izod And Charpy Impact Test
Izod and Charpy Impact Test Impact: The instant force or shock that is applied over a body when
another body collide with it for a short period of time is known as impact. Impact test: These test are
basically used to study the mechanical properties of materials as the result of impact produced by
instant high loading. The purpose of these test is to measure the ability of a material to absorb energy
as the result of the instant loading. This energy leads to further study of mechanical properties
(toughness, impact strength, fracture resistance, impact resistance etc.). Furthermore these properties
help in the selection of material for different applications. Types of Impact Test There are three types

A Reflection at the Center for Inclusion and Campus Involvement: Social Justice Pre Practicum
Unlike my mental health pre practicum which was an off campus endeavor at Aspire Health Partners,
my social justice, and advocacy prepracticum took place on the campus of Rollins at the Center for
Inclusion and Campus Involvement (CICI). Working this semester for CICI was an eye opening
experience. For over four months, I was able to abide by CICI s mission statement which consists of
the following values; inclusion, courageous leadership, authenticity, and social change. My endeavors
were directed towards the LGBTQ community at Rollins, but I was also able to work with incoming
students with Title IX and Buzz to help the new students understand how to be safe in campus. My
professional and personal values remained congruent with the social justice and social advocacy
mission values of CICI, and afforded me the chance to see the ethics of my mental health counseling
program in action. Accordingly, my values stand as self determination to encourage social justice and
social change on behalf of my clients. It behooves me to highlight how meaningful this value subsists
for me since this was one of the central purposes that inspired me to pursue a career in mental health
counseling. As a gay man, I realized that the LGBTQ community needs many advocates for their
rights and for society s acceptance, especially for the LGBTQ youth of today. Therefore, I recognized

No Place At Hide By Glenn Greenwald
No Place to Hide by Glenn Greenwald is about the National Security Agency (NSA), an agency of the
United States government. The primary purpose of the NSA is to gather and analyze information with
the intent of preserving the national security and the safety of the citizens, especially from terroristic
threats. In 2013, Edward Snowden, a contractor working for the NSA released classified information
which showed that the agency was spying on Americans and collecting information without a warrant,
which is against the law and Americans basic rights. Greenwald was one of the first journalists that
Snowden had contacted when he was looking to leak the information. No Place to Hide is an account
of all of the events leading up to, during, and after the news broke. An important basis of the book is
the Fourth Amendment and the significance that Americans place on their right to privacy:
The right of the people to be secure in their person, houses, papers, and effects, against unreasonable
searches, seizures, shall not be violated, and no warrants shall issue, but upon probable cause,
supported by oath or affirmation, and particularly describing the place to be searched, and the persons
or things to be seized (Greenwald, 3).
Many believed that their Fourth Amendment rights were being violated by the Patriot Act and the
mass overreaching of the information that the NSA collected. The Patriot Act was signed into action in
2001 shortly after 9/11 and was meant to protect the

9 709 448 REV: JANUARY 4, 2010 ANDREI HAGIU HANNA HAƁABURDA Responding to the
Wii? Kazuo Hirai, chief executive of Sony Computer Entertainment Inc. (SCEI), had just gotten off a
conference call with journalists. It was late August 2008, and the reporters were inquiring about
Afrika, a new safari videogame for Sony s PlayStation 3 (PS3) console that allowed players to watch
wild animals and take virtual pictures. Hirai could not help feeling frustrated. Most of the conversation
like many others with Sony outsiders in the past month had revolved around two questions: Was
Afrika Sony s answer to the casual games that were partly responsible for the runaway success of rival
Nintendo s Wii videogame console? And more generally, ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

Responding to the Wii? Market Birth, Collapse, and Rebirthb The videogame industry got off to an
uncertain start in 1972, when television maker Magnavox introduced Odyssey, the first home
videogame console. Priced at $100 (the equivalent of $516 in 2008 dollars),c Odyssey needed a
television screen to project its very limited action. The system came with 12 games, including versions
of tennis and ping pong, each on a printed circuit board.5 However, partly due to some uninspired
marketing and distribution decisions, Odyssey s appeal proved limited. Magnavox sold more than
100,000 game systems by year end, but sales quickly declined and Odyssey was pulled from the
market.6 Enter Atari Around the same time, a young entrepreneur named Nolan Bushnell was
developing arcade games with the use of then new microprocessor technology.7 In 1972, the company
he started, Atari, launched its first hit game an arcade version of ping pong.8 In Pong, two players
batted a ball of light back and forth between on screen paddles. The game instructions were simple:
Avoid missing ball for high score. 9 Pong was an immediate success: 8,500 arcade consoles were sold
in the first year.10 Bushnell

The Madness of War
War is the epitome of cruelty and violence, an experience that can prove maddening and strip away
some of the most intrinsic characteristics of humanity. Kurt Vonnegut s experiences as a prisoner of
war during World War II inspired his critically hailed novel Slaughterhouse Five (1969), in which
characters continually search for meaning in the aftermath of mankind s irrational cruelty ( Kurt
Vonnegut: 1922 2007 287). Both the main character, Billy Pilgrim, and Vonnegut have been in
Dresden for the firebombing, and that is what motivates their narrative (Klinkowitz 335). In his anti
war novel Slaughterhouse Five, Kurt Vonnegut expresses the adverse emotional effects of war through
the psyche of Billy Pilgrim.
Vonnegut s distinct style ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The emotional separation that Billy experiences is a direct result of the awfulness he faces in war.
Billy encounters countless atrocities and absurdities in his life and his war experiences that all
contribute to his mental withdrawal and deterioration. The horrors of Dresden, including death,
senseless cruelty, and absurd injustice, make up the panorama of violence and inhumanity that defines
Pilgrim s world (Broer 70). All of this violence and death around him leads to his descent into
schizophrenia and insanity. Billy becomes increasingly crippled by the psychologically damaging
blows he receives during the war causing him to withdraw from reality and ultimately lose his sanity
(Broer 70). Billy s prisoner of war experience is a nightmare of victimization and madness described
as an acrimonious madrigal, . . . everybody, seemingly, had an atrocity story of something Billy
Pilgrim had done to him in his sleep (Vonnegut 100). Broer states that Billy and everyone around him
exhibit some form of insane, mechanically conditioned behavior, that which is overtly aggressive, or
that which allows aggression to happen (73).
The most traumatic horrors of war to Billy, however, are the destruction of Dresden and the death of
his best friend, Edgar Derby. These events

The Daoist Outlook On Life
The Daoist Outlook On Life The Daodejing by Laozi is an eastern philosophical piece of literature; in
the Daodejing, the teachings of Daoism are taught. Daoism is a system of philosophical, ethical, and
religious Chinese teachings and practices that focus on living in harmony with the Dao and ones self.
The word Daodejing can be divided into three separate words; Dao, De, and Jing, which all have
different meanings. The Dao means way or path as the Dao helps guide the individual. The De means
virtue , personal character, or inner strength , which focuses on self realization, inner peace, and
balance; while the Jing means rules or instructions . Together, these three words can be translated to
mean Classic of the Way and Virtue or The Book of the Way and its Virtue . The practice of Daoism
and reading the Daodejing teaches individuals to flow with life while keeping a balance in all aspects
of the their daily life. Daoism does not make a distinction between metaphysics, epistemology, or
other ways of thinking. It also does not make a distinction between philosophy and religion. Instead,
both philosophy and religion are thought of as one in the Daodejing. For this reason, Daoism is an
exemplary type of philosophy for those who want to focus on their own self realization and
development while keeping in touch with those around them and nature. The Daoist outlook on life
focuses on the relationship between humanity and nature. In the Daodejing, there is a

a. Shareholders and investors. Because they are in the initial state of their business, they do not have
shareholders and investors right now. However, they are looking for an investors, and the future
investors and shareholders will be the most important stakeholders for Soselo Mello. To develop and
sell much better fuel items in the market they need more investment, but there is not enough
information who an investor can invest his money in their business on the official website. To
communicate the future investors, they have to improve the website.
b. Employees.
When they start to produce and sell their fuel in earnest, they have to hire more employees. They will
want to hire employees who can share same vision to make much safe and clean environment by using
Soselo Mello s fuels. Of course, they will hire a lot of local laborer as their employees, and the stable
job can change the laborer s life. The wage of African laborers is much cheaper than other
development countries, so they will be able to hire more employees.

To make a contract with local manufactures to produce their goods is can be a good business option.

The Hawthorne Pros And Cons
RE: The Manor (Mr. Quixotic Malicious Lullaby) Hawthorne s demeanour, along with the atmosphere
in the room had changed the moment Harper discovered the X on the wall, and the implements that
lay beside it on the board. From the moment she d arrived at the Manor, he d resisted his own arousal,
and attempted to gauge, internally, how far Harper would go, or what her fantasies entailed. Her
reaction, which demonstrated surprise and curiosity, to him, rather shock of fear, had eased any
concerns that she d flee, as reality hit. Harper Collin s seemed to relish what she d discovered, and that

They weren t spoken as question, or a challenge, but a statement of fact. Harper Collin s was going to

cheeky manner in which she reversed the pool cue. Because, let s be honest. Tonight, it won t matter if
you win or lose, the end result will be the same. You ll be bound, cuffed, whipped, flogged, and

the table to take the shot. His gaze drifted to the curve of her ass under the fabric of her dress, and
didn t rise again until she d completed the break. His eyes briefly flicked to the table to note that no

The Incarceration Of The Correctional Institution
The correctional institutions are established for correction of behaviors by law offenders. The society
expects that once an individual comes out of the correctional facility, he is a reformed person. In
addition, these facilities are always expected to warn the law abiding citizens to deter them from
committing a crime for fear of being in the correctional cells. However, the population in the
correction facilities especially prisons is contrary to this expectation. Over time, there is increased
number of offenders. This comprises of the new offenders and the repeat offenders. This causes
overcrowding in the correctional facilities which is a challenge to the society. The focus of this
problem is the social effect of overcrowding to the judicial system and ways of addressing the
challenge. Overcrowding in correctional institutions Crime is punishable for three reasons namely
retribution, prevention and deterrence. The main purpose of incarcerating offenders is to stop them
from repeating previous crimes they committed. Appraising the current American system using these
standards, the deterrence category has failed miserably, insufficient in prevention and providing
unsatisfactory retribution through detention. Attempts to deter released criminals who are convicted
are dismissed by the recidivism s high rate (Tish Burbank, 2009). This is evident through the rising
population of new offenders undeterred from crime. Many gangs and offenders recruit and carry out

The Rise of Modern Drama During the mid century of American theatre, the curtain rose to reveal a
new and different type of performance. Audience goers were used to the stylized works of Anton
Chekov and George Bernard Shaw, whose European classics were constantly being produced in the
United States. Actors, scenery, and costumes were limited to the refined themes of classical acting.
Theatre was growing bland with each revival. Nothing was being done to push the envelope, until
American writers claimed the stage. Authors including Arthur Miller, Lillian Hellman and Lorraine
Hansberry brought an element of reality to the theatre. Their works have gone down in history and

His profile of being white, heterosexual, and straight male, gave him great power during the mid
century. However, unsuspecting playwrights also gave birth to an era of modern performance these
being Lillian Hellman, a woman, and Lorraine Hansberry, a black woman. Hellman wrote plays that
explored themes of family and relationship. Her work also has inserts of her political activism which
remains a large element in the drama of today. Hellman was a new kind of playwright. Phillip
Schopper describes her personality and influence in About Lillian Hellman: Her political involvement
was integral in the fight against fascism at home and abroad. (Schopper 2001). Lillian Hellman wasn t
just a writer. She was a lover, a writer, and a woman who rose against the times. Hansberry revealed
the lives of black Americans in A Raisin in the Sun, which the theater had never seen before. The play
stayed on Broadway for 530 performances, and Hansberry received the New York Drama Critics
Circle Award for the work, making her the first African American and youngest American to ever
receive it. Kate Kelly writes in Lorraine Hansberry, Influential Playwright ...her literary god was Sean

something she succeeds at accomplishing with her characters as well. (Kelly 2014). Both women

Macroeconomics Essay on Aggregate Demand and Aggregate Supply
A. Fracking technology matures and significantly reduces the costs of producing oil and natural gas.
First of all, the fact that the overall costs of producing oil and natural gas will be reduced, then
companies will be able to produce more for the same costs or increase their profit margins. At higher
aggregate supply, the price is likely to decrease, compensating the fact that the companies have
reduced their costs and allowing them to produce at the same level for similar prices. Aggregate
demand will also increase, mainly because the products and services that are associated with oil and
natural gas will become more affordable. As aggregate demand increases, the price will also likely
increase in the short term, at least until aggregate supply and demand regulate themselves at a new
level. Ideally, however, new technologies will make oil and natural gas more affordable, which would
lower the overall price of products and services, since costs, including transportation costs, are lower.
B. The European Union disbands and individual European countries enact large tariffs on the
importation of American goods. There are several elements to be discussed about this event. First, the
European Union is a customs union, in the sense that all the member countries enact the same tariff on
a particular import of goods from the United States. This means that imports from the US of a
particular good has a tariff that ranges from 0 % to higher levels. Disbanding means mainly

Negative Argument on the Green Movement
Since the start of civilization, people have created large amounts of waste. It was during the prime of
the Roman Empire that people began to worry about where all of this waste was going, and how it
damaged the environment (ProQuest Staff). This was the birth of the Green Movement, which is the
pursuit of methods to positively impact the environment. According to A Rubbish Map, the world s
cities currently generate around 1.3 billion tonnes of [municipal solid waste] a year . This information
shows that there is still a very significant negative impact on the environment from human activity in
spite of the recent advance of the green movement. Along with this fact of excessive waste still
existing, there are many other reasons the green movement has not yet had a positive impact on the
environment. The three main restrictions to the green movement causing a positive impact from
humans to the environment are continuation of excessive waste in American cities, lack of effective
recycling around the world, and governments restricting the ability of individuals to live in accordance
with the green movement.
In America, according to the American Environmental Protection Agency, the average person
generates 4.4 pounds of solid waste daily (United States Environmental Protection Agency). This adds
up to 250 million tons of solid waste produced in America every year. This total continues to grow,
and it grows fast compared to the increase in American population. America reached

  • 2. Visual Illusions Essay My project is over visual effects and how the eye works. This project was chosen because I have always wondered how the human eye works and Visual trickery. Also because sometimes some visual illusions are impossible to figure out and are really cool so I am very interested on how they work and how to create one on my own. How do visual illusions work on the human eye? This paragraph is going to be about to the receptive field. The receptive field is a term originally coined by Sherrington (1960) to describe an area of the body surface where a stimulus could elicit a reflex (Alonso). Symptoms And Diagnosis Of Psoriasis Symptoms/ Diagnosis of the Pathology: Red, raised, dry, inflamed, scaly areas on the body and the pitting of the nails describe the common appearance of the pathological disease of psoriasis. Doctors often find it difficult to determine psoriasis because it is very similar to other skin disorders. There are several ways to confirm its medical diagnosis, dermatologist may analyze your skin, nails, and scalp (Langley, 2010). A dermatologist is a specialist trained in skin diseases. If not determined by the naked eye, further investigations are needed to determine the type of psoriasis. It can be tested by a biopsy of the skin which is performed by examining the skin under a microscope, x rays could determine joint swelling or joint deformity, a blood test to determine arthritis, and medical history. Physiological Basis of the Pathology: Psoriasis was copied from the Greek word psora, which means to itch (Jean, 2011). Psoriasis is a chronic, long lasting autoimmune skin disease that disturbs the speed of the growth cycle in skin cells (Stress Related Disorder Sourcebook, 2016). Normal, healthy skin cells replace dead skin cells every twenty eight to thirty days (Langley, 2005). Skin is the largest organ in the body. The festivities take place from 6 to 14 July, and are full of different activities, although the best known are those that are related to bulls, such as confinement. The origin of the festival dates back to the Middle Ages, celebrated as religious functions, in honor of San FermĂn. Legend has it that San FermĂn was a Pamplona bishop settled in France, who worked several miracles throughout his life. Because of the cult he was getting, he was ordered to be incarcerated and finally Degollaran. The news about San FermĂn did not arrive in Pamplona until the 12th century, when the religious activities began in his honor. The President of the United States (POTUS) at the time George W. Bush, declared the war against the Taliban, more precisely against Osama Bin Laden, Who was the person responsible for the attack. For this reason the POTUS decided to send troops to the country of Afghanistan, to fight and capture the Taliban s leaders, and bring them to justice. • 6. Henry Viii And The Succession From 1533 to 1553 the succession line in England dismembered itself into a churning goblet of contrasting egos. (hook) One minute Henry VIII was declaring his first born child a Bastard and his second child, the rightful ruler of England, the next minute he swore that both were bastards, and therefore needed to make a formal will. By doing this, Henry VIII had the unusual opportunity to choose his successor(s). First in line would be his new son, then his bastard daughters who would be named legitimate heirs to the throne if needed. After them, Frances Grey would inherit the title. This left Lady Jane Grey fourth in line to the throne. In the succession acts, that Henry VIII also passed before Edward VI could declare his will, Henry made it very clear that if another person were to interrupt his line of succession, he or she would be executed for treason. It appeared to England as if Jane was digging her heels into Henry s succession in 1553 when she took the throne; disrupting the succession and committing treason. They would execute her for this.(discussion) People today should consider Lady Jane Grey to be just as heroic and brave as we have realized Joan of Arc to be. (thesis) From Jane s exceptional dedication to learning, to how she compares to other rulers that came after her, it becomes evident that Jane s parents, The Duke of Northumberland, and Henry VIII robbed their country of another elegant lasting female ruler, rather than Jane being the one who was ... • 7. George Orwell s Stance on Capital Punishment in Essay, A... The essay A Hanging by George Orwell speaks to the reader about the author s stance on capital punishment. I believe that Orwell was able to communicate his point, without actually saying I m against capital punishment, through three steps. The first step is to set the mood and bring you into his perspective. From the dreary description of the morning to the slow procession of the condemned man to the gallows, Orwell puts the reader in a mood that conveys the experience of watching a man die. The second step is to compare himself to the condemned man, showing how we are all equal. A life is a life, whether you are a condemned man or not. The third step is to show how everyone tries to cope with the aftermath of the execution. This ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... When he talks about the wrongness of taking a man s life, I get the sense that this was something that shook him to the core. This was a basic human reaction to death. Death is unpleasant and generally unwelcome, so why must we kill someone who is just as alive as we are? The condemned man feels, sees, and thinks like us, an equal. The condemned man was considered equal by the dog in the essay. I see the dog as symbolism for equality. It did not matter to the dog that the man was sentenced to death. He was another human being, a potential friend that was alive and well. After the execution, the dog seemed to know the wrongness of not only his misbehaving but that of taking a life as well. I think that everyone is an equal and that life is something special. Everyone seems to deal with death differently. As the essay concludes, Orwell mentions how everyone was laughing and that it was a homely and jovial scene. I do not think that I would be laughing after the death of someone who was hung right in front of me. Most people tend to be solemn and sad after someone dies but certainly not laughing. I believe that for some laughing is just a coping mechanism used to deal with the gravity of what just happened. They feel extremely relieved that the terrible situation is over, yet I think the memory remains with them. Others perhaps are heartless and think that the man deserved ... • 8. The True Power Of Music Music is an important factor to the life of every human. It invokes the the strongest of emotions and can trigger long forgotten memories, even after years of suppression. Humans tend to take the mysterious power of music for granted, however after this paper I hope to reveal the true power of music and how it could be the greatest things to have ever happen. All throughout history, music follows and evolves with mankind to become a natural occurrence where without music, the world would feel empty, why might that be? Ben Mauk, a contributor to Life s Little Mysteries, believes, As stimulation for food and sex are important for an organism s survival, the fact that similar neural activity is observed in responses to features in music suggests that there could be some evolutionary advantage to the ability to hear or hum a good tune (Mauk). While Mauk s belief of music s existence is because of instinctive stimulation, I believe music is popular because of the multitude patterns that the human brain can follow. The human brain attempts to find patterns in everything it performs, for example a worker performing their daily tasks but when they break that system they may be unsure what to do with their extra time. Even though we might disagree in the invention of music but we could both agree on that music brings people together. On the other hand, Tom de Castella, a writer for BBC News Magazine, would argue, It can be lonely travelling through public space and using ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Brutus trust in others and his love of Rome are his greatest faults. His tragic flaw is the trust he places in others. Brutus is easily swayed to trust Cassius when he plots to kill Caesar. Cassius uses his cunning to trick Brutus into believing Caesar is ambitious and that he is killing Caesar for the good of Rome. Cassius says to Brutus, Why, man, he doth bestride the narrow world like a Colossus, and we petty men walk under his huge legs...the fault, dear Brutus is not in our stars, but in ourselves, that we are underlings (Shakespeare Act I. ii. 142 148). Brutus love Rome dearly and does not want it destroyed or ruled by a tyrant or emperor. Therefore, Brutus is manipulated by Cassius into murdering Caesar. Later on after Caesar is murdered, Antony makes a speech that is full of irony. His speech tells of how Brutus says Caesar was an ambitious man, and that Brutus is an honorable man. Antony says, Brutus says he was ambitious, and Brutus is an honorable man... When the poor have cried, Caesar hath wept; ambition should be made of sterner stuff. The genetically engineered rice had these new genes that contaminated this rice crop. These genes were extracted from bacteria which let the rice crop to survive the herbicide (liberty). This herbicide killed many plants including the red rice that was grown with this rice crop. Before this the herbicide would both kill the red rice and the good rice crop. Schematic Diagram For Izod And Charpy Impact Test Izod and Charpy Impact Test Impact: The instant force or shock that is applied over a body when another body collide with it for a short period of time is known as impact. Impact test: These test are basically used to study the mechanical properties of materials as the result of impact produced by instant high loading. The purpose of these test is to measure the ability of a material to absorb energy as the result of the instant loading. This energy leads to further study of mechanical properties (toughness, impact strength, fracture resistance, impact resistance etc.). Furthermore these properties help in the selection of material for different applications. Types of Impact Test There are three types of impact test that are commonly used ... Set free the striker, it will strike the specimen immediately behind a machined notch. Use the resultant energy (obtained by material failure) for further calculations. Breaking energy: The amount of energy absorbed by the specimen when it breaks is known as breaking energy. It is related to the height from which the load strikes the specimen. This energy calculations are same for both Izod and Charpy test. It is usually written as: E = mg (h0 hf) This breaking energy leads to further studies of properties of a material such as impact resistance, toughness etc. Impact energy (Breaking energy) vs Temperature When a graph is plotted between impact energy and temperature the resulting curve shows a rapid decrease in energy as the temperature decreases. A very sharp drop in energy can be used to evaluate the transition temperature Factors effecting Izod and Charpy impact energy Yield strength and ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

A Reflection at the Center for Inclusion and Campus Involvement: Social Justice Pre Practicum Unlike my mental health pre practicum which was an off campus endeavor at Aspire Health Partners, my social justice, and advocacy prepracticum took place on the campus of Rollins at the Center for Inclusion and Campus Involvement (CICI). Working this semester for CICI was an eye opening experience. For over four months, I was able to abide by CICI s mission statement which consists of the following values; inclusion, courageous leadership, authenticity, and social change. My endeavors were directed towards the LGBTQ community at Rollins, but I was also able to work with incoming students with Title IX and Buzz to help the new students understand how to be safe in campus. My professional and personal values remained congruent with the social justice and social advocacy mission values of CICI, and afforded me the chance to see the ethics of my mental health counseling program in action. Accordingly, my values stand as self determination to encourage social justice and social change on behalf of my clients. It behooves me to highlight how meaningful this value subsists for me since this was one of the central purposes that inspired me to pursue a career in mental health counseling. As a gay man, I realized that the LGBTQ community needs many advocates for their rights and for society s acceptance, especially for the LGBTQ youth of today. The primary purpose of the NSA is to gather and analyze information with the intent of preserving the national security and the safety of the citizens, especially from terroristic threats. In 2013, Edward Snowden, a contractor working for the NSA released classified information which showed that the agency was spying on Americans and collecting information without a warrant, which is against the law and Americans basic rights. Greenwald was one of the first journalists that Snowden had contacted when he was looking to leak the information. No Place to Hide is an account of all of the events leading up to, during, and after the news broke. An important basis of the book is the Fourth Amendment and the significance that Americans place on their right to privacy: The right of the people to be secure in their person, houses, papers, and effects, against unreasonable searches, seizures, shall not be violated, and no warrants shall issue, but upon probable cause, supported by oath or affirmation, and particularly describing the place to be searched, and the persons or things to be seized (Greenwald, 3). Market Birth, Collapse, and Rebirthb The videogame industry got off to an uncertain start in 1972, when television maker Magnavox introduced Odyssey, the first home videogame console. Priced at $100 (the equivalent of $516 in 2008 dollars),c Odyssey needed a television screen to project its very limited action. The system came with 12 games, including versions of tennis and ping pong, each on a printed circuit board.5 However, partly due to some uninspired marketing and distribution decisions, Odyssey s appeal proved limited. Magnavox sold more than 100,000 game systems by year end, but sales quickly declined and Odyssey was pulled from the market.6 Enter Atari Around the same time, a young entrepreneur named Nolan Bushnell was developing arcade games with the use of then new microprocessor technology.7 In 1972, the company he started, Atari, launched its first hit game an arcade version of ping pong.8 In Pong, two players batted a ball of light back and forth between on screen paddles. The game instructions were simple: Avoid missing ball for high score. 9 Pong was an immediate success: 8,500 arcade consoles were sold in the first year.10 Bushnell ... Both the main character, Billy Pilgrim, and Vonnegut have been in Dresden for the firebombing, and that is what motivates their narrative (Klinkowitz 335). Billy encounters countless atrocities and absurdities in his life and his war experiences that all contribute to his mental withdrawal and deterioration. The horrors of Dresden, including death, senseless cruelty, and absurd injustice, make up the panorama of violence and inhumanity that defines Pilgrim s world (Broer 70). All of this violence and death around him leads to his descent into schizophrenia and insanity. Billy becomes increasingly crippled by the psychologically damaging blows he receives during the war causing him to withdraw from reality and ultimately lose his sanity (Broer 70). Billy s prisoner of war experience is a nightmare of victimization and madness described as an acrimonious madrigal, . . . everybody, seemingly, had an atrocity story of something Billy Pilgrim had done to him in his sleep (Vonnegut 100). Broer states that Billy and everyone around him exhibit some form of insane, mechanically conditioned behavior, that which is overtly aggressive, or that which allows aggression to happen (73). The most traumatic horrors of war to Billy, however, are the destruction of Dresden and the death of his best friend, Edgar Derby. These events ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Daoism is a system of philosophical, ethical, and religious Chinese teachings and practices that focus on living in harmony with the Dao and ones self. The word Daodejing can be divided into three separate words; Dao, De, and Jing, which all have different meanings. The Dao means way or path as the Dao helps guide the individual. The De means virtue , personal character, or inner strength , which focuses on self realization, inner peace, and balance; while the Jing means rules or instructions . Together, these three words can be translated to mean Classic of the Way and Virtue or The Book of the Way and its Virtue . The practice of Daoism and reading the Daodejing teaches individuals to flow with life while keeping a balance in all aspects of the their daily life. Daoism does not make a distinction between metaphysics, epistemology, or other ways of thinking. It also does not make a distinction between philosophy and religion. Instead, both philosophy and religion are thought of as one in the Daodejing. • 29. The Incarceration Of The Correctional Institution The correctional institutions are established for correction of behaviors by law offenders. The society expects that once an individual comes out of the correctional facility, he is a reformed person. In addition, these facilities are always expected to warn the law abiding citizens to deter them from committing a crime for fear of being in the correctional cells. However, the population in the correction facilities especially prisons is contrary to this expectation. Over time, there is increased number of offenders. This comprises of the new offenders and the repeat offenders. This causes overcrowding in the correctional facilities which is a challenge to the society. The focus of this problem is the social effect of overcrowding to the judicial system and ways of addressing the challenge. Overcrowding in correctional institutions Crime is punishable for three reasons namely retribution, prevention and deterrence. The main purpose of incarcerating offenders is to stop them from repeating previous crimes they committed. Appraising the current American system using these standards, the deterrence category has failed miserably, insufficient in prevention and providing unsatisfactory retribution through detention. Attempts to deter released criminals who are convicted are dismissed by the recidivism s high rate (Tish Burbank, 2009). • 31. Macroeconomics Essay on Aggregate Demand and Aggregate Supply A. Fracking technology matures and significantly reduces the costs of producing oil and natural gas. First of all, the fact that the overall costs of producing oil and natural gas will be reduced, then companies will be able to produce more for the same costs or increase their profit margins. At higher aggregate supply, the price is likely to decrease, compensating the fact that the companies have reduced their costs and allowing them to produce at the same level for similar prices. Aggregate demand will also increase, mainly because the products and services that are associated with oil and natural gas will become more affordable. As aggregate demand increases, the price will also likely increase in the short term, at least until aggregate supply and demand regulate themselves at a new level. Ideally, however, new technologies will make oil and natural gas more affordable, which would lower the overall price of products and services, since costs, including transportation costs, are lower. Along with this fact of excessive waste still existing, there are many other reasons the green movement has not yet had a positive impact on the environment. The three main restrictions to the green movement causing a positive impact from humans to the environment are continuation of excessive waste in American cities, lack of effective recycling around the world, and governments restricting the ability of individuals to live in accordance with the green movement.
