Boeing Mission Statement
The company I choose as my focus in this Marketing Management assignment is Boeing. Boeing was
founded by William Boeing and is the world s largest multinational aerospace company. Boeing is also
the leading manufacturer of commercial jetliners and defense, space and security systems ( Boeing,
1995 2015). With its headquarters in Chicago, Illinois, Boeing employs more than 165,000 people
across the United States in more than 65 countries. Moreover, Boeing s mission statement is being
committed to working in partnership to ensure that innovative/creative solutions are developed and
implemented to improve health and safety, employee development, and quality and productivity in the
workplace ( Boeing, 1995 2015). Nevertheless, in 2012, Boeing ... Show more content on

These prices start from 371 million for a commercial aircraft and 63 million for a freighter. As
previously mentioned, all Boeing aircrafts can be delivered to a location of choice and promotion is
done via television ads, photos, videos and sponsoring selective major events that resonates with the
company s business and brand strategies.
Still, customers will perceive quality based advantage as an advantage for Boeing s product over its
competitors because the Boeing Production System and the Boeing Quality Management System are
inextricably linked, as manufacturing and quality organizations work together to achieve total customer
satisfaction through a lean production system. All in all, research shows Boeing builds the best products
in the world, and its standards are second to none ( Boeing, 1995 2015).
Yet, Boeing has made certain that input from all significant stakeholders are factored into its products
lifecycle. Albeit challenging, Boeing must ensure that the systems and processed designated by the
company is integrated and used correctly by all employees. Therefore, it is always possible to make
changes and or modifications to a company s existing product lifecycle, but not necessary if it s not
needed or required at that given

The Life and Achievements of Margaret Eleanor Atwood Essay
Margaret Eleanor Atwood, one of the most acclaimed and idolized writers to date. Atwood was born in
Ottawa, Ontario, on November 18th, 1939 in the Ottawa General Hospital. Two and a half months after
the beginning of the Second World War (Atwood). She is a renowned novelist and poet; furthermore
writer of short stories, critical studies, screenplays, radio scripts and books for children (Gale).
Margaret Atwood is a living inspiration to many writers today. Atwood is a fiction, and non fiction
writer. She was born with an inspiration to write, and she grew with the potential to become one of the
most amazing Canadian writers today. Atwood is widely known for her emotional stance as a feminist,

Back in those days it was very unlikely for women to go to college. Likewise, Margaret s mother did;
she is a former college educated dietitian (Atwood). While learning that education was the key to the
future door in life, Margaret had been very interested in English literate. So she decided at the age of
five years old she was going to started writing comic books and many short stories (Gale). At the age of
sixteen years old she began to become very serious about her big goal in life, becoming a poet. Before
she started her dream, she fulfilled her wild side by exploring the wilderness with her father Carol
Atwood, an entomologist (insect scientist). Spending much time with her father, Margaret learned about
nature and the world around her (Gale). At one time she lingered back and forth about her future and
what she really wanted to do. Like most at her age, not knowing what they want their future to hold.
She knew it would be one of the two, nature scientist or writing. However, she chose to be a writer.
As an adolescent Margaret was homeschooled before going on to high school (Leaside High School) in
Toronto. It was their Atwood determined at the age of sixteen she wanted to become a poet (Benson
Findley). She had been walking home from school and in her mind she had a sudden thought she then
says she remembered, The day I became a poet was a sunny day. I was walking

Modern Food During The Medieval Era
Food is an essential need in order to survive. Medieval food took a turn during the Middle Ages.
Different foods were put in groups to be consumed according to the social rank of individuals. Noble s
diets would be unquestionably different than the peasants. Religion also played a significant role on
food during the Medieval Times. People celebrated large banquets and feasts during this Era. During
the Medieval Era, there was a difference in food that was consumed by the rich and poor. The diet of
the rich and the poor was not considered healthy and balanced. Rich individuals were called nobles or
royalty. The quality of food that was ingested by the rich and poor differed significantly. If you were
considered royalty, ingredients such as spices, sweet foods, and sugar was available to you. Upper and
lower classes both ate three meals a day. The upper class s food would be served from silverware and
gold dishes. Here in the United States, liquid food is generally eaten with spoons, but people during
medieval times drank liquid food from cups. Expensive spices such as pepper, cinnamon, cloves,
nutmeg, ginger and so on was put in most of the food consumed by the Upper class. The nobles drank a
variety of wines.
The poor were called peasants. Peasants had to eat food that came from the ground; these vegetables
consisted of cabbage, beets, onions, garlic, and carrots. Their diet was mainly bread, pottage, and dairy
products. Peasants consumed many carbohydrates daily. These

Children Of A Lesser God
The film Children of a Lesser God explores the relationship between a speech pathologist and deaf
custodian. James Leeds s perspective on his job s objective is challenged and Sarah Norman fights her
past s torments. James and Sarah start a romance wrought with arguments and misunderstandings. As
their bond progresses, James learns what it means to be deaf. James Leeds is a speech pathologist who
has worked in multiple top rated schools. In his classes, he tries to encourage his students to speak
instead of using sign language (Children of a Lesser God). He believes that to function successfully in a
hearing society, deaf people must be able to speak. James is an excited, encouraging teacher to his
pupils. He listens to music and other activities to make it easier for his students to speak (Children of a
Lesser God). With other students in his school, he encourages them to speak even if it is profanities
toward him. James is an active, positive teacher. He spends one on one time with his students and plays
basketball and other games with them (Children of a Lesser God). Although James wants what he
thinks is best for his students, Sarah Norman teaches him not everyone wants to speak aloud. Sarah
interests James because, although she has graduated, she remains a silent custodian (Children of a
Lesser God). As she is intelligent, James cannot understand why she only signs rather than speaks; how
can someone so smart not see the practicality of speaking in a hearing world?

Persuasive Essay On Cedar Lake Dnr
Cedar Lake has been known for years to be a swamp of pestilence that many are afraid to touch, and for
good reason. The Factories that surround the lake used to dispose of their waste directly into the water.
Most of the chemicals are no longer in the water system, and the water quality is now good enough to
harvest fish from the lake. The problems faced now are sedimentation that has made the lake shallow,
and people s perception of the lake. The Iowa DNR working alongside the Friends of Cedar Lake have
a plan to deal with those issues, and make the lake a healthy center of outdoor recreation for the city.
Restoring, and improving the lake will give the people what they need.
People want to enjoy the outdoors, but many don t have the time or money to travel to rural recreation
areas. In The Hamburg Case Study, results showed that people felt recreation areas within the city were
more important (Boll, et al 5). There are many variables, but driving for hours is not what most people
want to do on their day off. That is if all of the people can drive. Children would benefit most from
having a place they can go to enjoy the outdoors. If a nice lake is within walking distance, a Kid can
ask to go to the lake as easy as asking to go to the park after school. The people will be motivated to get
outside, and ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

impact on mental health, even more so than places like woodlands or gardens. This means that the
people who live here, and see that body of water every day will show improved mental health even
without using the lake directly. Then when people drive through the city, they will not only see a
beautiful lake that makes them think highly of the city, but they will also have improved mental

Geoffrey Chaucer Thesis Statement
Thesis Statement: Geoffrey Chaucer was one of the most influential writers of the
Medieval times.
Geoffrey was born in the early 1340 s and he died in 1400.
Geoffrey Chaucer was born later than 1340, but probably earlier than 1345. There aren t any records on
his actual date of birth (Theodore 1). Geoffrey Chaucer s family name was deprived from the French
Chaussier which implies that his family were shoemakers at one time. His father and grandfather were
wine merchants, so they were both successful and rising men (Theodore 7). Chaucer died in 1400 on
October 25th. He passed away of unknown causes in London, England. Chaucer was around the age of
60 when he died. Geoffrey was buried in Westminster Abbey, and his gravestone is now the center ...

Philippa had worked for Constance of Castile, John of Gaunt s second wife (Encyclopedia.com).
Chaucer and Philippa are usually credited with two sons and perhaps a daughter, Elizabeth Chacy
(Morrison 12). Chaucer received a yearly salary of ten pounds. Ten pounds was about the normal
income for a squire in an aristocratic or distinguished household. The city of London granted them a
home above Aldgate when he became Controller of Customs (Notablebiographies.com). Some
wardships in 1375 brought Chaucer a little over 175 pounds. He and Phillipa were financially secure
(Encyclopedia.com). None of Chaucer s poetry is addressed to Philippa, so it is assumed that they had
an arranged marriage. Almost none of Chaucer s work was complimentary towards marriage
(Historylearningsite.co.uk). When Philippa passed away in 1387 Chaucer stopped sharing her earnings.
Chaucer suffered from financial hardship and he would have to keep working in public service to earn a
living. He stayed in his work to help pay off his growing collection of

Behavior and Relationship Observation
Behavior observation Conformity is a general concept that refers to changing one s behavior which is
caused by another person or group.in other words it results to someone acting in some way due to the
influence they got from others (Kenrick, Neuberg, Cialdini, 2007). For the purpose of this paper, I have
made the assumption that the people I am observing are a couple taking into account the preformed
ideas of how couples do behave. I have also made an assumption that that they are in a love relationship
and they are married. For people who are in a relationship they have to try and understand each other.
They also have to conform their behaviors according to their partners so that they can understand each
other more in the relationship. Conformity is not an easy concept especially when one is required to
make major behavior changes in their lives. Therefore there are pre conformity behaviors that could be
observed in the man before he fully demonstrated a conforming behavior. The pre conforming behavior
was such as constantly forgetting what he was expected to do since this was a relatively new thing for
him. There were instances where he totally forgot or did what was expected of him halfway without
completion. There are several types of conformities which include; normative conformity. Normative
conformity involves an individual changing their behavior so that they can fit well into a particular
group (Kenrick, Neuberg, Cialdini, 2007). Normative influence comes

Whaling In Japan
Part III: What I Learned Whaling has become a popular topic with in the last few decades. It has been
going on for centuries and was finally band in 1931 (Matera 3). But this didn t stop the Japanese at all.
By researching my topic I found that I did not know a lot about whaling, which made me want to dig
even deeper. At the beginning of this process, I looked into Whaling. I already knew that there was a
war going on between Japan and the United States because of the show Whale Wars, but I didn t know
any background information. I was always curious before but now I actually had a reason to do
research. In Part I of this project it asked me to describe everything I knew, assumed, and imagined
about whaling. During Part one I knew that ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
I went to the Scottsdale Community College library website and searched whaling. All the sources I
chosen was through Academic Search Premier. Every thing that I read put me in a new perspective
about my topic. I learned that whaling has been going on since the eleventh century, and commercial
whaling became illegal in 1931 (Matera 3). I found out that the United States actually whaled at some
point but it was not for the meat, it was for the whale oil. During the eighteenth and nineteenth
centuries, whaling started to become a problem. During this time Japan started to be the main whaling
country, this is when everything flipped upside down ( Greenpeace Says Japan Ready for Whaling. ). In
another source I was reading, I found out that in the 1980s, eight countries joined the International
Whaling Commission (IWC) to stop the world from whaling (Hyder 10). I also looked more into the
Sea Shepherds. The Sea Shepherds are a full volunteer based program to go out into the artic and try
and save as many whales as they can. Every year they go out and face Japan s whaling fleet, which are
five boats against the SS three. I learned that Japan got very hostile in the last couple tours (Kita 3).
They were ramming into the SS boats, even the little speedboat, which was an eighth of the size of their
ship. When I was reading a different article called Whales , I learned that whales eat around forty
thousand krill a day and if whales

The Adventure Of The Second Stain Analysis
Though perhaps not one of the more popular stories in the series, The Adventure of the Second Stain is
just as literarily significant and interesting as any other Sherlock Holmes story, perhaps even more so.
With a storyline that twists and turns, this fast paced adventure is a worthy addition to any collection of
mystery fiction, and is certainly enjoyable to read. The story begins with a brief introduction from
Watson, a characteristic common to a great number of the Sherlock stories. In this introduction,
however, Watson explains that The Abbey Grange was meant to be the last of Holmes published stories,
and that the one to follow is sort of a bonus. Even this detail lends a feeling that the story will be unique
and outside of the ordinary in some way, as Watson would not otherwise share it with the audience.
This story, in typical Holmesian fashion, blends a story of grave importance with its own distinct
witticisms and humour, primarily demonstrated in Sherlock s interactions with Watson and others
involved. Another feature established in The Second Stain is Holmes tendency to lean towards a chaotic
good standpoint; In other words, his moral compass may differ from that of others, and his methods
may be unpredictable and untraditional, but he always strives to achieve justice and to maintain the
virtue of innocents. In this story specifically, Holmes recovers the letter and stops and possible
conflicts, but also ensures that Mrs. Hope remains innocent and above

The Economic Integration And Industrialisation Essay
In contemporary society, two broad standards of living define an individuals economic, political and
social status (Nayyar 2013, pp. 41). These are the developed and developing world, concepts that have
only originated in the last 150 years, which can be characterised by their success in global economic
integration and industrialisation (Nayyar 2013, pp. 41). Globalisation has led to an increasingly
connected and global economy, contributing to these often polar areas of the world. The capitalist
ideology has been a driving force in shifting economics to a global scale, and in pursuit of wealth and
competition can be attributed to the inequalities and differences observed in the developed and
developing world. Coupled with the post industrial era, Globalisation has resulted in the transition from
manufacturing centered to service oriented industries in the developed world, while manufacturing has
shifted to the developing world (Jovanovic 2015, p. 349). This process has led to disparity of wages,
inequality and uneven development across national, regional and individual levels (O Brien Leichenko
2008, p. 96). This essay identifies the importance of the social and geographical situation of consumers
in the developed or developing world in determining whether they are a beneficiary in the globalised
economy. The role of advanced countries in introducing and monitoring processes of trade, finance and
investment (Nayyar 2006, p. 138) to developing countries and how they are

Slippery Slope Argument
The slippery slope argument is based on the idea that once a healthcare service starts killing its own
citizens, a line is crossed and a dangerous practice has been set. The concern is that a society that
permits voluntary euthanasia will progressively change its stances to include non voluntary and then
involuntary euthanasia. Legal voluntary euthanasia could ultimately lead to a widespread range of
unanticipated consequences, such as very ill people who need endless care, or people with severe
disabilities, may feel pressured to request euthanasia so that they are not and do not feel as a problem to
their family and occasionally, doctors may be mistaken about an individuals diagnosis and position, and
the person may choose euthanasia after

In their quest to establish Rome as an important religious center, the popes goal was to destroy most
ancient ruins and erase the city s pagan history. In the efforts to prevent a complete destruction of Rome
s past, Raphael expresses his concerns and beliefs in the Report to Pope Leo X. In his letter, Raphael
tries to convince the Pope to put a stop to the destruction of the city by glorifying the work and

the town in the ancient times, which was due to the significant efforts and talents of its people. He also

Traffic Congestion In Hampton Roads
Although the Hampton Roads area is one of the biggest tourist destinations on the east coast, it faces a
problem of traffic congestion. Many residents spend hours stuck in traffic around the area everyday.
There are many elements in the area that develop the inevitable traffic congestion that plague the
Hampton Roads. The main reasons of traffic congestion are heavy military presence, bridges and
tunnels, and poor methods of alternate transportation. The consequences of heavy traffic are delays in
commute, more accidents on the road, and noise and air pollution. Norfolk is home to the largest Naval
Base in the world, along with five other bases for all branches of the military. As a result, the number of
cars commuting is increased. Another factor to consider is the tunnels and bridges that are in the
geographical area. Because this area is built around the Chesapeake Bay and many other rivers, there is
no avoiding the tunnels and bridges built to commute across the area. The ... Show more content on

The biggest effect that residents have is long delays in getting to and from work. Due to the expectation
of heavy congestion on the roads, residents must allow more time to commute to work and also spend
more time in traffic when they are trying to get home. The average time spent in traffic is 45 minutes
during rush hour. Another consequence of heavy traffic is an increase in automobile accidents. Because
drivers become frustrated or angry due to heavy traffic, drivers are more aggressive and are more likely
to cause an accident. Lastly, traffic causes noise and air pollution that make the city less attractive place
to live. Since the traffic on the interstates create a large amount of noise, the price of homes near the
interstate are reduced or become harder to attract homebuyers. Also, the amount of pollution created
from automobiles on the road, contaminated the air that sometimes lead to heath problems over

Southern Manifesto Argument Essay
The government can not change the rules if those rules are not in place in the first place. Southern
Manifesto is a very big argument whether or whether not racial segregation was in place in school.
Although it does not state that in the constitution Southern Manifesto was a document published in
1956 and written by Richard Russell Jr., Lyndon B Johnson, and Strom Thurmond. The Southern
Manifesto was a document about the attempt to rebel and push back the Brown vs Board of Edu.
Southern Manifesto s purpose was to have racial segregation in public areas. Brown vs Board of Edu.
states that it is illegal to have racial segregation in school. The argument was very strong because the
constitution does not state anything about education. Because the constitution did not state anything
about education there was not a whole lot that government could do to stop these actions from
happening. In the case, they bring up past cases like Plessy vs Ferguson to help back up their case.
Plessy vs Ferguson, this case was about having segregation laws. The Southern Manifesto used this to
help support their case by looking into the past and looking how it was a good time for them, not
looking how it was an awful time for some other people. In a way if I were to take my bias away from

Rightly Detected Truths In Sherwood Anderson s Hands

chemist John Dalton wrote, It s the right idea, but not the right time (online). Although Dalton was
profoundly incorrect in his analysis of the atom and its structure, his written words regarding the
importance of rightly ordered truths could not be of greater importance for making and sustaining
human connections throughout time. For the duration of human existence, romantic love and dating has
always remained one of the largest hurdles an individual must face in his or her lifetime. Often
considered a pivotal ingredient in any robust affinity between two parties, every relationship must be

Unfortunately for Wing Bittlebaum, most of his obsessions were incorrectly ordered. Although sexual

necessarily being an allegory for any modern problem in particular, Sherwood Anderson s Hands
provides incredible insight into human need and want, and the drive to fulfill one s desires while
ignoring a rightly ordered life in favor of an incorrect balance. Although many relationships can
flourish without necessarily being ordered perfectly, Wing Bittlebaum s many illegal and unwanted
relationships could never have succeeded due to his lack of understanding and empathy. Although not
considered to be the pinnacle of knowledge regarding poetry, John Dalton s famous expression, It s the
right idea; but not the right time (online) rings true in Sherwood Anderson s short story

Bateman Consumer Culture
Harron further depicts her version of 1980 s consumer culture by emphasizing the depth at which
materialism has invaded the minds of the all characters. The epitome of self absorption is Bateman
himself, and foreboding quality when combined with his lack of morality and aggressive tendencies.
Harron makes use of narration in order to introduce Bateman to the audience, something she employs at
the very start of the movie. After detailing his morning routine Bateman narrates that there is an idea of
a Patrick Bateman, some kind of abstraction, but there is no real me. Only an entity, something illusory.
And though I can hide my cold gaze, and you can shake my hand and feel flesh gripping yours and
maybe you can even sense our life styles are ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
It is through his narrations that the audience is shown the extent at which Belfort revels in his own
excessive debauchery. Towards the beginning of the film Belfort asserts that money doesn t just buy
you a better life, better food, better cars, better pussy, it also makes you a better person. You can give
generously to the church or political party of your choice. You can save the fucking spotted owls if you
want. I always wanted to be rich (Scorsese 4:20). Belfort s primary drive is to have more material
things in his possession, and this includes his wife and his children, because he believes that it will
make his life better and more fulfilling. But despite all of his debauchery, lies, and manipulation that he
executes in order to acquire more things, Jordan Belfort ultimately goes unpunished. Sure, he spends a
brief period of time in jail, but he ultimately never feels any psychological remorse for his actions, in
fact, in the last scene of the movie, he is teaching a gathering of willing pupils how to become an
amazing salesman like him(Scorsese 2:51:37). As one writer comments, he makes no efforts to explain
or justify his actions. On the contrary, he trusts that, vicariously at least, we are glad to participate in the
deception and debauchery. I want them to live like me, he says of his savages, and for three hours, that
includes us (Rollert).

The Feminine Touch
Chess (2011) continues examining the ad s contents by noting the presence of the feminine touch,
which Erving Goffman describes as a cradling or delicate sense of touch. This is particularly relevant
given the DS Lite s touch screen interface. As such, the content of the ad focuses on the woman
playing, not the game or the system itself. Instead of including the woman in the domain of play itself,
the ad resorts to presenting her as delicate and overtly feminine, thus dividing her from the rest of the
gaming audience.
A second case Chess (2011) examines is an advertisement for Wii Fit, a health centric game and
hardware addition to the Wii gaming system. The ad shows rows of models using the Wii Fit board,
placed against a green background, where green is the color representing health and natural living. The
white attire of the models contrast the background color, but supplement its meaning by representing
purity and simplicity Kama all values that one may strive for while using the Wii Fit (Chess, 2011).
In her analysis, Chess (2011) describes advertising attempt to tap into women s body conscious
aptitude. While Wii Fit seemed to posit itself as a product that anyone can use regardless of sex or
ethnicity, the fact that it appears in magazines such as O and Good Housekeeping clearly Target a
female audience and plays on the standardized value of healthy living (Chess, 2011). It is quite apparent
that this type of game does not fall in the traditional realm of games,

Iodine Clock Lab Report
Iodine Clock refers to a group of reactions which involve the mixing of two colorless solutions to
produce a solution which gives rise to an initial induction period, before a sudden change creates a deep
purple blue color (http://web.mst.edu/~gbert/IClock/discussion.htm)
For the reaction to occur, certain conditions must be met.
When starch is mixed with iodine in water, an intensely colored starch/iodine complex is formed
(http://antoine.frostburg.edu/chem/senese/101/redox/faq/starch as redox indicator.shtml).
This is because an iodine molecule slips into an amylose coil, part of starch, to create the blue black
color.
The time delay until the appearance of the blue color is inversely related to the rate of the
reaction(http://web.mst.edu/~gbert/IClock/discussion.htm).
This means that a faster reaction gives a shorter delay and a slower reaction lengthens the delay. This is
why the ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

Different Perspectives of Human Resource Departments
As I was doing my research and going through loads of articles and factsheet about Human Resource
Development, I came across these different perspectives about HRD. For example, DeS imone Harris
(1998:3) make the comment that Human Resource Development is a relatively new term, but not a new
concept . McGoldrick and Stewart (1996:1) tell us that HRD is a relatively new concept that has yet to
become fully established and accepted, either within professional practice or as a focus of academic
enquiry. The role of HR based from CIPD Personnel Standard Lead Body states: To contribute to the
short and long term success of organisations, by forming and managing the environment in which
people s individual and collective contributions are maximised . Human Resource Department is also
dependable for making human resource policies that will help an or ganisation demonstrate, both
internally and externally, that it meets requirements for diversity, eth ics and training as well as its
commitments in relation to regulation and corporate governance. For example, the correct allowable
leave of absence of an employee or other benefits, it will normally be necessary to meet provisions
within employment contracts. The establishment of an HR Policy, which sets out obligations, standards
of behavior and document disciplinary procedures, is now the standard approach to meeting these
obligations. HRD (Human Resource Development) also focuses on different psychological needs for

Analysis Of Joan Rivers By The New York Daily News
As per an article highlighting Joan Rivers prolific death in 2014 by the New York Daily News (NYDN)
(2015), Joan s daughter, Melissa Rivers, has filed a multimillion dollar lawsuit against both the clinic at
which her mother was falsely operated upon and the group of physicians who treated her. In her claims,
as noted by the NYDN (2015), her 81 year old mother s death was completely preventable and was due
to completely ambiguous, amateur mistakes committed by those who operated upon her. In the official
documents obtained by the New York Daily News, Melissa has filed accounts of malpractice against the
clinic Yorkville Endoscopy (the clinic where her mother was treated) and the five physicians involved
in the case. The clinic and the five physicians aforementioned have been recognized as the defendants
in this litigation. In Melissa s belief, according to the NYDN (2015), the coma that aroused her mother
s death was triggered by the negligent and impulsive behaviors of the physicians and the clinic that
housed her during her diagnostic procedure. According to reports, Joan Rivers, who incurred days of an
abnormal hoarseness of her voice, sought diagnosis of a possible medical condition at an outpatient
facility situated in the Upper East Side of New York City by the name of Yorkville Endoscopy (NYDN,
2015). For the procedure, three anesthesiologists (Dr. Renuka Bankulla, Koniuta ans Scarola) and two

Devereaux Code Switching
Michelle Devereaux wrote Code Switching and Language Ideologies: Exploring Identity, Power, and
Society in Dialectically Diverse Literature. An article found in the ncte.org. In the introduction, the
author explained how english teacher are expected to teach all students to read, write, and understand
English in its many forms and functions. The author then argued that students language can be as
diverse as the literature we bring to the classroom. Not all students come to the classroom with the
skills to write standardized English; even fewer students come with the skills to read vernacular texts
(93). Devereaux said that what almost all of us come to class equipped with are beliefs about language,
how it is and should be. In this article, ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The author gave examples of teaching students about authors and books as they code switch. The
author said that teachers help students understanding of character by teaching them to examine a text
for how the author code switch. Questions such as How does the character s language change
throughout the text? and How does the author s narrative writing or the character s language vary by
time, place and purpose? (96). Devereaux explained in his article that code switching offers a perfect
way to discuss language ideologies. By exploring languages shift, we can see that the place differs, the
people differ , and the purpose changes either in the community or at a job. The author argued that these
aspects such as place, people, and purpose, all affect the speaker or author choices. The author showed
a great example about code switching and how your language differs from one person to the other. For
example, you may decide that you want to tell your best friend and your teacher about your weekend.
The author explained the difference of the change in language(97). Language ideologies are very
important to consider, students explore outside forces affecting language choices, and how the character

Silent Tears Short Story
The Silent Tears
Have you ever being robbed? Being robbed is not about being brave, but being safe.
During the Christmas holiday season when I was 14, I woke up early on a beautiful Monday morning
trying to find my dad. My dad had a small business at the market place, and I wanted to go to work
with him that morning. I was in need of extra money for Christmas gifts. I was full of energy,
enthusiasm, confidence and a heart full of love and trust. When I finally found my dad who was outside
loading the car with the merchandise, I asked Dad can I go to work with you today? I want to help you,
so I can make some extra money for gifts. There was a long pause before he said Are you sure you can
handle it, remember it is Christmas time and people come from all over the place to shop, and we will
be very busy. I quickly replied Of course, I am good with math, and how hard it could be to sell the
famous chine melamine dishes? After all they sell own its own. Well my father continues Let s take
your sister to help you too.
On our way to the Market my dad said I will help you girls to set up and I need to head out to storage to
get more merchandise Before he left he reminded us of the prices of all the items we will be selling in
our little store. While we waited for my father to return, we practiced our math so we will be right on
with the money. As the time passed my sister and I became better at the small addition and subtraction
equations we were practicing. We felt more and more confident so we began to sell more and more. As
this beautiful Monday morning continued things took a turn for the worst. A pregnant women
approached us and bought more than 100 dollars of item. She had asked me to help her with her bags,
the woman had told me that she was incapable of lifting heavy things. Once we got to her house she
had promised me that she should pay and tip me. As the nice 14 year old I was I thought that this would
be a win win situation. As we began the short walk to her house, she began to compliment me and out
nice conversation had allowed for me to build a trust with the unknown woman, and did not suspect
anything would go wrong. Once we got to a certain ally which the woman said was on the way to her

Private Companies are companies that are either owned by non governmental organizations or by a
relatively small number of shareholders or company members which does not offer or trade its
company stock (shares) to the general public on the stock market exchanges, but rather the company s
stock is offered, owned and traded or exchanged privately (Google).
Private companies are very similar to independent companies; the only real difference is that private
companies can choose their shareholders. Private companies don t need to meet the strict exchange
commission requirements that public companies have to, like having to give a certain percentage of
their income to the government.
Independent companies are companies which work on their own; they can make decision on their own
and are free of influence by government or corporate interests. Independent companies are different to
subsidiaries as Independent companies are not owned by any conglomerate. An advantage of an
independent company is that all the money the company makes is its own profit instead of being shared
with other companies. A disadvantage of an independent media company is that they often find it
difficult to survive against competition from bigger companies that are owned by conglomerates as they
are better known, which reduces their source of income resulting in bankruptcy.
Although if an independent media company is

Loyalist Or Patriot Analysis
Shall I be Loyalist or Patriot? After the victory towards French in the Seven Years War, the political and
social relationship of the colonists and Great Britain had shifted to a different direction. The colonists
began to think of themselves as Americans. At that time, The British government felt that the colonies
had become quite independence, and they wanted their colonies to start paying tax in order to help
England pay the national debt. Not only were Americans forced to pay direct taxes, but they were also
obliged to involve in strict regulatory acts such as Sugar Act and Currency Act. Sugar Act (1764)
strongly affected American s trading in which their oceanic vessels and cargos could be inspected by
the British Navy and might be confiscated if the paper and the goods that being transported were in
disagreement. Currency Act (1764) restricted colonial governments to print their own paper money.
These two acts put some colonists in anger but they were not enough to result in civil disorder until the
Stamp Act was passed. The reason that the colonists resisted government authority with the passage of
the Stamp Act (1765) was because the Stamp Act collected taxes in all type of papers including
newspapers, playing cards, licenses, and stamps. This outraged many colonists especially the educated

Susan Bordo Never Just Pictures Summary
In the article Never Just Pictures, the author, Susan Bordo, addresses the cultural reasons behind the
rise in eating disorders. She asserts that modern media and advertising campaigns have played an
integral role in this increase. Though unfortunate, the media s focus is not on the well being of its
viewers, but on the level of cash flow they provide. The advertising moguls use their agencies as double
edged swords; they will make ads for McDonalds, then go in the next room and conduct a photo shoot
with a six foot two, eighty pound woman. The world of advertising needs to realize their work is being
seen by millions of people and is affecting some of those people in extremely negative ways. The
author of this article begins her analysis of the rise in eating disorders by acknowledging America s
obsession with being the ideal weight. From an extremely young age, American children are being
taught that women in movies and on the covers of magazines possess the ideal figure. The author states
Children are being taught...being fat is the worst thing one can be (Bordo 1). This is disturbing to say
the least. There many attributes worse than being overweight: dishonest, cruel, and murderous to name
a few. Bordo also uses an example in the first paragraph of her essay that is appalling. Alicia
Silverstone, the lead role in Clueless, was completely bombarded with insults about her weight, though
she had only gained a few pounds since her starring role. The advertisers did

Still, customers will perceive quality based advantage as an advantage for Boeing s product over its competitors because the Boeing Production System and the Boeing Quality Management System are inextricably linked, as manufacturing and quality organizations work together to achieve total customer satisfaction through a lean production system. All in all, research shows Boeing builds the best products in the world, and its standards are second to none ( Boeing, 1995 2015). Yet, Boeing has made certain that input from all significant stakeholders are factored into its products lifecycle. Albeit challenging, Boeing must ensure that the systems and processed designated by the company is integrated and used correctly by all employees. Therefore, it is always possible to make changes and or modifications to a company s existing product lifecycle, but not necessary if it s not needed or required at that given ... • 8. Persuasive Essay On Cedar Lake Dnr Cedar Lake has been known for years to be a swamp of pestilence that many are afraid to touch, and for good reason. The Factories that surround the lake used to dispose of their waste directly into the water. Most of the chemicals are no longer in the water system, and the water quality is now good enough to harvest fish from the lake. The problems faced now are sedimentation that has made the lake shallow, and people s perception of the lake. The Iowa DNR working alongside the Friends of Cedar Lake have a plan to deal with those issues, and make the lake a healthy center of outdoor recreation for the city. Restoring, and improving the lake will give the people what they need. People want to enjoy the outdoors, but many don t have the time or money to travel to rural recreation areas. In The Hamburg Case Study, results showed that people felt recreation areas within the city were more important (Boll, et al 5). There are many variables, but driving for hours is not what most people want to do on their day off. That is if all of the people can drive. Children would benefit most from having a place they can go to enjoy the outdoors. • 15. Behavior and Relationship Observation Behavior observation Conformity is a general concept that refers to changing one s behavior which is caused by another person or group.in other words it results to someone acting in some way due to the influence they got from others (Kenrick, Neuberg, Cialdini, 2007). For the purpose of this paper, I have made the assumption that the people I am observing are a couple taking into account the preformed ideas of how couples do behave. I have also made an assumption that that they are in a love relationship and they are married. For people who are in a relationship they have to try and understand each other. They also have to conform their behaviors according to their partners so that they can understand each other more in the relationship. Conformity is not an easy concept especially when one is required to make major behavior changes in their lives. Therefore there are pre conformity behaviors that could be observed in the man before he fully demonstrated a conforming behavior. The pre conforming behavior was such as constantly forgetting what he was expected to do since this was a relatively new thing for him. There were instances where he totally forgot or did what was expected of him halfway without completion. There are several types of conformities which include; normative conformity. • 16. Whaling In Japan Part III: What I Learned Whaling has become a popular topic with in the last few decades. It has been going on for centuries and was finally band in 1931 (Matera 3). But this didn t stop the Japanese at all. By researching my topic I found that I did not know a lot about whaling, which made me want to dig even deeper. At the beginning of this process, I looked into Whaling. I already knew that there was a war going on between Japan and the United States because of the show Whale Wars, but I didn t know any background information. I learned that whaling has been going on since the eleventh century, and commercial whaling became illegal in 1931 (Matera 3). I found out that the United States actually whaled at some point but it was not for the meat, it was for the whale oil. During the eighteenth and nineteenth centuries, whaling started to become a problem. During this time Japan started to be the main whaling country, this is when everything flipped upside down ( Greenpeace Says Japan Ready for Whaling. ). In another source I was reading, I found out that in the 1980s, eight countries joined the International Whaling Commission (IWC) to stop the world from whaling (Hyder 10). I also looked more into the Sea Shepherds. The Sea Shepherds are a full volunteer based program to go out into the artic and try and save as many whales as they can. Every year they go out and face Japan s whaling fleet, which are five boats against the SS three. I learned that Japan got very hostile in the last couple tours (Kita 3). • 17. The Adventure Of The Second Stain Analysis Though perhaps not one of the more popular stories in the series, The Adventure of the Second Stain is just as literarily significant and interesting as any other Sherlock Holmes story, perhaps even more so. With a storyline that twists and turns, this fast paced adventure is a worthy addition to any collection of mystery fiction, and is certainly enjoyable to read. The story begins with a brief introduction from Watson, a characteristic common to a great number of the Sherlock stories. In this introduction, however, Watson explains that The Abbey Grange was meant to be the last of Holmes published stories, and that the one to follow is sort of a bonus. Even this detail lends a feeling that the story will be unique and outside of the ordinary in some way, as Watson would not otherwise share it with the audience. This story, in typical Holmesian fashion, blends a story of grave importance with its own distinct witticisms and humour, primarily demonstrated in Sherlock s interactions with Watson and others involved. Another feature established in The Second Stain is Holmes tendency to lean towards a chaotic good standpoint; In other words, his moral compass may differ from that of others, and his methods may be unpredictable and untraditional, but he always strives to achieve justice and to maintain the virtue of innocents. In this story specifically, Holmes recovers the letter and stops and possible conflicts, but also ensures that Mrs. Hope remains innocent and above ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 18. The Economic Integration And Industrialisation Essay In contemporary society, two broad standards of living define an individuals economic, political and social status (Nayyar 2013, pp. 41). These are the developed and developing world, concepts that have only originated in the last 150 years, which can be characterised by their success in global economic integration and industrialisation (Nayyar 2013, pp. 41). Globalisation has led to an increasingly connected and global economy, contributing to these often polar areas of the world. The capitalist ideology has been a driving force in shifting economics to a global scale, and in pursuit of wealth and competition can be attributed to the inequalities and differences observed in the developed and developing world. Coupled with the post industrial era, Globalisation has resulted in the transition from manufacturing centered to service oriented industries in the developed world, while manufacturing has shifted to the developing world (Jovanovic 2015, p. 349). This process has led to disparity of wages, inequality and uneven development across national, regional and individual levels (O Brien Leichenko 2008, p. 96). This essay identifies the importance of the social and geographical situation of consumers in the developed or developing world in determining whether they are a beneficiary in the globalised economy. The concern is that a society that permits voluntary euthanasia will progressively change its stances to include non voluntary and then involuntary euthanasia. Legal voluntary euthanasia could ultimately lead to a widespread range of unanticipated consequences, such as very ill people who need endless care, or people with severe disabilities, may feel pressured to request euthanasia so that they are not and do not feel as a problem to their family and occasionally, doctors may be mistaken about an individuals diagnosis and position, and the person may choose euthanasia after ... Many residents spend hours stuck in traffic around the area everyday. There are many elements in the area that develop the inevitable traffic congestion that plague the Hampton Roads. The main reasons of traffic congestion are heavy military presence, bridges and tunnels, and poor methods of alternate transportation. The consequences of heavy traffic are delays in commute, more accidents on the road, and noise and air pollution. This is particularly relevant given the DS Lite s touch screen interface. As such, the content of the ad focuses on the woman playing, not the game or the system itself. Instead of including the woman in the domain of play itself, the ad resorts to presenting her as delicate and overtly feminine, thus dividing her from the rest of the gaming audience. A second case Chess (2011) examines is an advertisement for Wii Fit, a health centric game and hardware addition to the Wii gaming system. Iodine Clock Lab Report Iodine Clock refers to a group of reactions which involve the mixing of two colorless solutions to produce a solution which gives rise to an initial induction period, before a sudden change creates a deep purple blue color (http://web.mst.edu/~gbert/IClock/discussion.htm) For the reaction to occur, certain conditions must be met. When starch is mixed with iodine in water, an intensely colored starch/iodine complex is formed (http://antoine.frostburg.edu/chem/senese/101/redox/faq/starch as redox indicator.shtml). This is because an iodine molecule slips into an amylose coil, part of starch, to create the blue black color. She asserts that modern media and advertising campaigns have played an integral role in this increase. The advertising moguls use their agencies as double edged swords; they will make ads for McDonalds, then go in the next room and conduct a photo shoot with a six foot two, eighty pound woman. The world of advertising needs to realize their work is being seen by millions of people and is affecting some of those people in extremely negative ways.
