A Study Of Rauschenberg s Erased De Kooning Drawing
A Study of Rauschenberg s Erased de Kooning Drawing
In 1953, Robert Rauschenberg had the idea of adding drawing to his All White Series. However,
drawing on these paintings, or anywhere, would defeat the purpose of this series, and so he came to
the conclusion that the only way he could achieve this would be through erasure. He began
experimenting with his own drawings, but still being a young artist it he didn t think it would be
considered art. For his idea to work, he thought, it had to be art that he erased. Having admiration and
respect for artist Willem de Kooning, Rauschenberg decided to buy a bottle of Jack Daniels, and go to
his house. Rauschenberg explained to de Kooning his idea, and asked if he could use a drawing of his.
Reluctant, de Kooning agreed, only because he understood the idea. After looking through his
portfolios, de Kooning handed Rauschenberg a drawing that he would miss, and that was almost
impossible to erase. A month later, Rauschenberg successfully erased de Kooning s drawing, and with
the help of Jasper Johns, titled the piece in ink, and framed it. Robert Rauschenberg s Erased de
Kooning Drawing can be seen as either a minimalist piece or conceptual piece. Through a clearer
understanding of both movements, the aim of this essay is to show how this piece could be seen as a
minimal piece or a conceptual piece, and to see which movement it leans more towards.
Minimalism has been described as the last of modernist styles and thus a

Critical Concepts Of Middle Adulthood
There are many emotions that coincide with middle adulthood. Three of the most critical concepts of
middle adulthood are midlife crisis, empty nest syndrome, and sandwich generation. Each concept and
stage are apparent in many people around the age 42 45 and can last from 2 5 years. However, these
ages can fluctuate for various environmental reasons and circumstances. Also, this can have gender
and culture variations that can affect the age and longevity. A midlife crisis is the event that happens in
a person 40 s where an emotional crisis occurs that involves identity, confidence, and depression.
Midlife crisis typically occurs because of external factors, these external factors can arise from
childhood issues that were never solved or newly ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The sandwich generation is when an adult is not only taking care of their own children, but also their
parents. In many cultures such as Asian tradition taking care of your parents is required and a mark of
adulthood. The generation is typically between the ages of 30 and 55. This number is so widely raged
because many environmental circumstance depend upon it. People in this stage may become stressed,
depressed, and have a loss of identity. Also, people in this generation have to be very patient and
empathetic towards others to withstand the difficulties and responsibilities of being in a sandwich
generation situation. As life expectancy is increasing this is much more common. It is very common in
developing countries because families are financially dependent on each other and may even live in
the same household. Sandwich generations are becoming more common throughout all

Why Is Dismissal Is Unfair
Dismissal can be known as being unfair for various reasons. Every employee has the entitled right to
not be unfairly dismissed. However if an employer does dismiss an employee they must provide a
reason for doing so. The reason for an employer dismissing an employee must fall under the
categories established in the Employment Rights Act 1996. Dismissal can occur by the arrangement of
a written document however there are situations where the employer terminates the contract either
with or without notice. If an employer has dismissed an employee the reasons must be evident and
produced, this could include; the conduct of an employee, the lack of capability, redundancy aswell as

How To Visit Central America
If I could visit three countries in Central America I would visit Belize, Costa Rica and Honduras.I
would like to visit these countries because these countries are very fascinating with very beautiful and
extraordinary sights to behold. These places have a ton of destinations with lots of history. These
countries also have different and interesting cultures.
The first country I would visit is Belize. The capital of Belize is Belmopan. One of the major cities in
Belize is San Ignacio. San Ignacio serves as the cultural economic hub of Cayo District. Belize also
has beautiful destinations within the country such as Crooked Tree Wildlife Sanctuary and Belize
Barrier Reef. The Belize Barrier Reef is a series of coral reefs straddling the coast of Belize. The
Crooked Tree Wildlife Sanctuary contains 16,400 acres of lagoons creeks, logwood swamps, broad
leaf forest and pine savanna. This place is also home to hundreds of species of wildlife. A important

The Ruins of Copan. These ruins are mostly famous for the intricate artwork of the stone carvings on
altars and buildings. Another monument is San Fernando de Omoa. This was the fortress of San
Fernando which was built between 1759 and 1775. A fact about Honduras s history is that Christopher
Columbus explored the country in 1502. Honduras s government is Democratic Constitutional
Republic. Honduras s cultural food is a fusion of Spanish cuisine, Caribbean cuisine and African
cuisine. The most populated religion in Honduras is Roman Catholic. Honduras interested me because

The Wrong Direction
Religion has convinced modern society to not only consider humanity s well being: what God wants
and our place in either Heaven or Hell in the afterlife (Sutter). Religion, even though there are billions
of followers, is based solely on what just a few important religious characters have said. For instance,
Islam was started by a man named Mohammed, who communicated with God and became a prophet.
Nobody saw him or the angel which visited Mohammed at this time, however, when Mohammed
came down from the mountain where he was praying, and began to spread the message, people who
had previously been polytheists converted to Mohammed s new religion: Islam. Over the course of
Mohammed s life, as depicted in the movie The Message , many ... Show more content on

The second purpose of religion is to instill hope, such as the concept of an afterlife. When a Christian
dies, others will believe that they will be able to see each other again when they die, based on the
concept that there is a Heaven, where all Christians go (given they prayed for forgiveness and didn t
commit any high level crimes, such as murder). However, if that person disobeyed the Christian rules,
that person will go to Hell, an eternal damnation. This specific element of religion is one of the main
reasons for joining a religion the hope of Heaven for Christians, and similar environments in other
religions. However, this isn t the only way the hope of religion is used. When a religious individual
prays, many times they will ask a favor of God, such as Please God, let me get an A on this paper , or
Please God, help me lose weight . This is where I personally begin to have problems rather than
focusing on achieving something personally, such as studying and working hard on a paper, or going
to the gym every day to lose weight, prayer is commonly used as a vehicle to hope that something will
come true with virtually no work put in. Another example of this hope is if one has a headache and
prays to God it will go away, there will be two outcomes: it goes away naturally, then God is
celebrated by the individual as their savior, or the headache persists and the individual believes that
God is simply testing one s faith. I would

Tattoos Of Ancient Egyptian Women Essay
One in every five Americans have a tattoo. It is no longer surprising to see people with markings on
their bodies. Many believed it is a form of self expression. Even though some cultures or religions
view tattoos as a negative thing, that does not stop people from getting them. To have a better
understanding about tattoos we must go back and trace how it all began. From the tools, they used to
the ink, it is incredible how tattooing has evolved over the years. Tattoos have been around since 3,000
B.C. The oldest discovery of a tattooed mummy was the Iceman . The frozen body was discovered by
hikers in 1991. The tattoos discovered on the body had no specific drawing there were just straight
lines and small crosses. This led to believed that tattooing was used as a therapeutic to relieve pain.
The Egyptians hold the true claim to fame regarding tattoos. It was common practice for Egyptian
women of high status to received tattoos for the same sort of therapeutic reasons. Tattooing of ancient
Egyptian women had a therapeutic role and function as a permanent form of amulet during the very
difficult time of pregnancy and birth (Line berry 2).
Tattoos were not always used as therapeutic. In ancient China, tattoos were considered barbaric
practice. Criminals were tattooed as a visible mark of

Reflection On Managing A Team
In the past I have worked for some really good managers and some not so good ones, however, what I
realized is that while they may have done the basic requirements to manage the people under them,
they did not do so efficiently and effectively. This is something that pricked me and then I realised that
I needed to learn and overcome this shortcoming and manage my team in a more effective and
efficient way. When this course was offered for the first time in our program it grabbed my attention
as it fit perfectly in what I wanted to tailor within myself as a future manager. These are my learnings
and how I wish to reform myself. Our first class focused on Forming Teams and Introductions It
started in a very friendly manner and through an introductory exercise, every individual had to talk
spontaneously about their positive qualities and how each of us could benefit from the other and bring
the same to the team. For me the question, what each individual could add to the team really stood out
because everyone had something unique to say about themselves and I will certainly use it in the
future while forming teams. Later, we had a small team exercise of making 15 paper airplane and this
exercise taught us the Forming part of the team model that is how to adapt quickly in a new team, help
each other and come up with a solution. During this entire process one team member was asked to
observe without giving any inputs. This technique deemed simple and creative as I felt it

the 5 companies agreed that diversity has contributed to their success. Some barriers were identified in
managing diversity like the difficulties faced by women in managing the work and family, fear of
discrimination, resistance to change, diversity is not seen as an organizational priority, resistance to
change and unsupportive working environment for diverse employees. Diversity contributes to more
productivity but if not properly managed could hinder success. Research 3 [3] Objective of research:
Why diversity matters? Coverage Area: 366 public companies in Canada, UK, Latin America and

management globally. The difference in performance of the companies in the same country and same
industry implies that diversity serves a competitive differentiator. Certain companies focus on gender
diversity and others focus on ethnic and racial diversity but no company in the top quartile focus on
both. Companies which have greater diversity are able to attract top talent, improve internal and

What Is My Favourite Memory Essay
Whenever you come to visit me in this hospital whilst i lie in this isolated, vegetative state memories
of our times together come rushing back to me.
These memories that I reminisce about are now my life, the only thing I can really, truly connect to.
I recall my favourite days in winter when the light of the day had been replaced by the unrelenting
blackness of the night, and we would sit in the little café. Sitting there with mugs of coffee cupped
between our stone cold hands, the warmth of the fire against our backs slowly warming us up. The
sweet smell of the cinnamon buns that would diffuse around us which made it difficult to resist the
temptation of eating anymore, despite the guilt we should have probably felt about the huge amount
we had already consumed.
The Café that once was filled with our bursts of loud uncivilised laughter from which people could
have probably heard from outside in the pouring rain, was now from what I can imagine just a lifeless
café. There was nothing fancy about this café, no fancy furniture, no white etching upon the glass, the
feeling of just being there together and feeling as if we were away from the loud intimidating noises of
London s streets was what made this café so great.
I recall meeting in the little cafe that was not far from where we both lived every day after our long
days at work.
Whatever the circumstance both of us would be there, so we could reminisce for hours and hours
about our days of chaoticness and madness.
This was until ten years ago, the day when I didn t turn up to the café, the day my life ended
physically and yours mentally.
Now I lie here in this hospital bed, my thoughts disattached from what was my body.
I am locked inside this body which was once mine but now it is a stranger to me and I have no control
over what happens to it and when.
At first all I could feel was frustration. Frustration because I couldn t respond to you when you would
talk to me, your hand in what used to be my hand, your fingers entwined in fingers that are now
unknown to me for i now have no feeling in this body you call mine.
There s no word for how I feel. I am now frozen, unable to do anything but listen to the world go by,
trying to live everyones

carbonite and the Empire having hit the rebellion hard. By delaying the resolution of the cliffhanger,
we are more invested in the story than at any other point of time when Return of the Jedi is viewed.
Machete order is the correct order to watch Star Wars Movies
The Machete Order, gives the best Star Wars experience as the saga starts with Episode IV,
establishing the Star Wars universe and ending with the most rewarding ending in Episode VI. This
order makes the epic saga a story of two characters, Luke and Anakin. Two movies of Luke s tale, two
movies of Anakin s story and final single film that brings both stories into one and giving a proper
closure to the saga.
The cliffhanger ending of The Empire Strikes Back creates a lot of tension, and the original trilogy act
as an framing device for the prequel trilogy. The relationship between Anakin and Padme or Obi Wan
and Anakin does not have the weirdness due to the convoluted story lines and age gaps from Episode

The Controversy Over Creationism And Evolution
Introduction The controversy over Creationism and Evolution is a widely debated topic, especially
when it comes to what is being taught in the biology classrooms in public schools today. It may be
hard to imagine, but just over 100 years ago the curriculum and beliefs would have looked
dramatically different. One central court case that created a spark of bringing evolution to public
schools was the infamous Scopes trial of 1925 in which science teacher John Scopes challenged
Tennessee state law and taught evolution in his high school science class. Tennessee state legislature
had passed a bill, known as the Butler Act just months before, banning the teaching of evolution. The
American Civil Liberties Union (ACLU) represented Scopes after his arrest in a case that riveted
public attention. Although at trial Scopes was ultimately found guilty, the Butler Act was no longer
enforced and laws prohibiting evolution being taught in the classroom continually were defeated over
the course of the next two years. In 1968, the ACLU went to the Supreme Court on behalf of Susan
Epperson to fight against the ban on teaching evolution in Arkansas. The Supreme Court ruled
unanimously that the ban as unconstitutional as the First Amendment under the Establishment clause
does not allow teachings to tailor to certain religions ( State of Tennessee V. Scopes, n.d.). For this
project, we ll take a deeper look at this controversy. With evolution being the commonly accepted

Writing Style Of Frankenstein
Mary Shelley writing style for the novel Frankenstein is very special as it is written in a creative
narrative point of view even though when reading it there are times when one can forget that Robert
Walton is the true singular narrator. Frankenstein is both a frame narrative and a story within a story,
the story within the story is seen through Walton telling of Victor s telling of the Creature s story.
Mary Shelley s writing style can clearly be seen in the novel with the letters from Robert Walton to his
sister in which you can see the narrative point of view, however as you continue to chapter one it
becomes hard to see that as it becomes the story within a story which then again happens when the
creature tell Victor about what he has been doing since he was created. All of theses events are told by
Walton yet it is hard to tell as the novel began to use words like I and my as if Victor was the narrator
for example I am by birth a Genevese, and my family is one of the most distinguished of that republic.
(19) which is describing Victor yet it seems as he is saying it. This can be seen throughout the main
part of the story but towards the end with You have read this strange and terrific story, Margaret...

is full of memorable quotes many of which have a much deeper meaning, one of the first ones is What

Relational Database Analysis
Relational database normalization is the process of decomposing relations with anomalies to produce
well structured relations. This paper delves into relational database normalization giving the reason
why a database schema in third normal form is considered to be of higher quality than an un
normalized database schema.
Relational database normalization entails organizing database and it includes the creation of tables as
well as relationships establishment between the tables using designed rules intended to protect the data
as well as make the database to be flexible. This is achieved through the elimination of redundancy as
well as inconsistent dependency. Redundant data is known to waste the space of the disk thereby

In this second normal form level, deficiencies which are transitive are removed. Third normal form
satisfies the condition which requires that the relation to be in the second normal form. Another
condition that it full is that it must not have transitive dependencies within the relations in the
database. Transitive dependency occurs if an attribute is found to be functionally dependent on the key
in an indirect manner. In this level, remaining functional dependency anomalies is removed. Boyce
Codd Normal requires that the relation to be in third normal form and that every determinant is
supposed to be a candidate key. In this level, multi valued dependencies are removed. A relation is in
fourth normal form is it has a composite key and its key attributes have no multi valued dependencies.
In the fourth normal form, the remaining anomalies are removed. Fifth normal form is a generalization
of the fourth normal form. It states that if a relation can be decomposed into the lossless join of several
relations, then it should be so decomposed. The fifth normal form concerns dependencies that are
obscure (Colomb, R. (2003)
A database schema in third normal form is considered to be of higher quality than an un normalized
database schema because the third normal form ensures that

What is a human life worth? To some it s priceless, and to others nothing at all. As humans we tend
not to think about it and just live, it s what we do. In the past however, it was a different story, the

Arabus. Daniel wishes to complete his father s goal of buying himself and his mother s freedom, so he

American Revolution. The story transpires in early May of 1787 on a plantation in Stratford,

Cognitive Theory
The cognitive restructuring theory commands that one s personal impractical philosophies are
precisely responsible for producing dysfunctional feelings and their subsequent behaviors, such as
anxiety, despair, and social extractions; and humans can be purged of such feelings and their validities
by demolishing the theories that give them life. The cognitive restructuring model is a proven model
in addressing behavioral issues concerning stroke victims and adolescents. Team A s focus will be
addressing the perceptions into these interventions. Behavioral changes can be difficult, but for a
stroke victim it can be even more challenging due to cognitive deficiencies after a stroke. These

An example of an exercise used to assist clients is documenting daily events that bring on unwanted
actions. Adolescents suffering from depression are often asked to record thoughts on situations
happening is day to day life. When a situation happens that furthers or intensifies the clients unwanted
behavior, thoughts are recorded, this is to monitor and change specific behaviors and thoughts. By
reporting ones thoughts and feelings the individual can document what has happened, what thoughts
are happening, and what changes need to be made to improve the unwanted behavior. By continuing
to document feelings and thoughts of depression, the adolescent will be able to notice a change in their
own behavior; they will be able to realize that emotions are dictating how they react to certain events.
With the documenting process of cognitive restructuring, many individuals will be capable of
changing their own thought process for the better. Each session with the depressed adolescent should
be well structured with feedback from the adolescent, frequent feedback allows the client to be heavily
involved and will bring about different emotions. Emotions are the overall goal, being aware of one s
emotional state during life events is a key to altering the depressive behavior. Further intervention
steps in cognitive restructuring for adolescents will include coping skills and scheduling. Depression

Reflection Paper On Color Culture
Red: warmth Blue: Night, calm
Orange: Evening Purple: Cold
Yellow: Fresh White: Clean, basic
Green: Soothing Black: Emptiness, bold
1) Compare your notes on color with the listings on the website for Color Culture.
It s eye opening to learn how color is interpreted around the world. As I compare my thoughts on color
to that of different cultures I am amazed at the variety of connections that are made through this
artistic aspect of life. It seems as if I have the closest connection to the psychological interpretations of
color. My thoughts on the color green for example perfectly fit with the psychology description of the
color which is: soothing, relaxing mentally and physically, helps with depression, anxiety and
nervousness. I think my connection to the psychological interpretations of color stems from my
emotional outlook on life, for example my bedroom is painted a deep blue because its calming to me
and sets the mood for rest.
2) What was the most interesting or surprising thing you discovered in the comparison?
Absolutely the most surprising thing I discovered in my comparison was just the extreme variety of
different interpretations of color. Before visiting the website, I thought color symbolism would be for
the most part universal. But what I learned is that each and every culture has its very own, unique
connections to color. The stark

My Daughters Have No Mother Summary
Recently, I read a blog in the Huffington Post written by Max Mutchnick, the co creator of Will and
Grace, entitled My Daughters Have No Mother. The title of the article immediately piqued my
curiosity. After all, how is it biologically possible to have a daughter without a mother? Sure, I have
heard of children enduring tragedies and losing a mother or even cases of mothers abandoning their
kids, but to have no mother―impossible. As I read on, I realized the point of Mr. Mutchnick s strange
blog post. To briefly summarize, he relentlessly attempts to gain the reader s sympathy as he explains
the travails of being a gay man who desires to have a child and their attempt to find a surrogate
mother. However, the blog is riddled with obvious fallacies, which include broad sweeping ... Show

Rise Of Julius Caesar Essay
The year 100 BC is when Julius Caesar was born in Rome to a well known, but not rich family. The
young Caesar left Rome for military service in Asia and Cilicia. When the dictator Sulla died, he
returned, and began his political career as a prosecuting advocate. He travelled to Rhodes for
philosophical studies and, on the way, was kidnapped by pirates. He convinced his captors to raise his
ransom, then organised a naval force, captured the pirates and put them to death.
Caesar held a number of government positions under Pompey, and was elected consul in 60 BC. In 59
BC he also became governor of Gaul and Spain. In 55 BC he attempted an invasion of Britain. Three
years later, in 52 BC, he defeated a union of Gauls. After defeating his former ally, Pompey, Caesar
went on to Egypt, where he involved himself in upholding the rule of Cleopatra, with whom he had a
son Caeserian .Caesar was made dictator for life in 45 BC and was called Father of his Country. The
month of Quintilis was renamed in his honour, and continues to be known as July. He was also the
author of a large body of important political writings.

Non Corporations And Its Impact On Fostering Change
Abstract
Despite the fact that many organizations have embraced the new management strategies in reflexivity,
there are still countless issues in the same regard. It is also vital to remember that for an entity to
remain competitive in the market, it must formulate workable management strategies. In this survey, it
is demonstrated that it is the sole responsibility of the reflexive managers to make sure that there is a
flow of communication pattern in the company. The models include the research the organization
undertakes to understand the ethnography behind the rationale of self reflexivity. The structures of the
society still control the management of public administration via a conclusive and elaborate
formulation of the reflexive ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Therefore, it is vital for public administrators to become vigilant in embracing reflexivity when
dealing with employees, business partners, and the entire stakeholders. Management should make a
habit of understanding self reflexivity so that it can help in realizing the realities and the critical nature
of the organizational processes. There are two levels of reflexivity including the self and the critical
decision of minds (Cunliffe and Jong, 2005).
Reflexivity in Organizations
In the philosophy of science, reflex and reflection have been used categorically to mean the same kind
of phenomenon. It is vital to differentiate the two processes so as to know the better one that suits the
functions and operations of an organization. Reflection is primarily the check up of the actual life
issues in the mirror of knowledge and differentiating it from the vague assumptions. Researchers look
at h reflex mode as a means to diversify the workplace and obtain a high standard of performance. The
professionals involved try to use their skills to maintain the situational improvement in the knowledge
and class of actions in the administrations (Adriansen and Hunne, 2013). The leadership of any
organization must embrace a further calculative and emotive approach to addressing public
governance. It only means that for an organization to govern their work professionally, an assessment
of the functions and legitimacy of

The Ironic Theories Of Mind
For centuries, inquisitive minds have struggled to comprehend the notion of a non physical soul. They
attempted to explain the soul using tangible, representative parts of the human body. Throughout
history, scientists and philosophers have explained the representative theories of mind using a variety
of logical and experimental techniques. The logical arguments produced cardiovascular and ventricle
theories of the mind, and the experimental techniques led to the encephalic theory of mind and
medical practices like phrenology and more recently MRI brain scanning.
The Greek philosopher Empedocles presented the first mind/soul theory, suggesting the heart and
blood were the physical embodiment of the mind/soul. Empedocles cardiocentric view was later
termed the cardiovascular theory. Empedocles believed the mind/soul resided in the heart and blood
because both were centrally located within the body. Another well known philosopher, Aristotle,
agreed with Empedocles belief, but used anatomical observation, instead of logic, to support his claim.
Aristotle observed a warm heart and a cold brain while conducting dissections of the deceased. During

Hippocrates strayed from the church s teaching, believing the disease could be explained by natural

Advantages And Disadvantages Of Hot Melte Extrusion
In hot melt extrusion, materials are heated, melted and dispersed to be cooled. This process is not
suitable for thermolabile products, and the excipients should be miscible in the molten state [12].
Large size particles are produced by hot melt extrusion. Process parameters such as temperature,
pressure and mixing rate determines product properties like density, particle morphology, size and size
distribution. Table 2 lists the advantages and disadvantages of hot melt extrusion technique [2,5].
The process typically consists of three phases (figure cxxx). First, feeding phase in which excipients
enters the heating chamber. Second, the excipients melts and a screw allows its mixing and transfer
into the extrusion station. Finally, Extrusion in which the extruder controls the shape and size of the
extrudate once is cooled down and cut [12,13].

The cooling rate has a direct effect on the co crystal s size, growth and shape. After co crystals
production, they are then filtered and washed to eliminate impurities. Finally, the crystals are dried,

Co crystallization involves two main steps: nucleation (the material starts its crystallization process on
a specific site) which can occur in labile zone that is a zone not optimal for crystal growth, and second
the crystal or co crystal growth. The solid crystals can be formed from liquid, melt or gas, and are
more stable than the individual initial materials and held together by non covalent forces. Compared to
the initial material, the co crystal has a different crystallinity, solubility and mechanical properties

Langston Hughes The Weary Blues Analysis
On Langston Hughes s The Weary Blues
Kevin Young, a graduate of Harvard University and one of the winners of the Guggenheim
Fellowship, writes the historical perspective of Langston Hughes. He discusses the flowering of the
African American literature and culture and how it is actually just the extension of the New Negro
movement. From the Harlem Renaissance, Langston Hughes is able to represent different things for
different men. The uprising of Hughes s poems are the result of their hardships that many people of
his time faced. The black cultural ferment found from the teens to the nineteen twenties and beyond
provided an opportunity to prove in culture things sometimes denied black folks in society namely,
their humanity. Young ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

What Langston Hughes Powerful Poem I, Too Tells Us About America s Past and Present
David C. Ward, a writer for the Smithsonian and historian, writes the lens of the African American
experience through the eyes of Langston Hughes s poem I, Too. He states that this poem embodies
that history at a particular point in the early 20th century when Jim Crow laws and other racial
segregations were heavily influenced. From the build up of lack of importance becomes a larger notice
of the presence that Langston Hughes brings. Ward brings the title into play when referring to the
secondary relationship that Hughes brings into play. It suddenly shifts the terrain to someone who is
secondary, subordinate, even, inferior. David Ward States. The African American lens that Ward
notices largely in Hughes s writing is that he speaks for the second class, also known as, the ones who
are excluded. The multi dimensional pun in the title are not only close and open the poem, but fill the
drama the poem portrays for the struggle of the African Americans. From moving out of sight, eating
in the kitchen, and then taking their place at the dining room table co equal with the company that is
dining. Ward includes the evolution of the message Hughes presents through his poem.

  • 2. A Study Of Rauschenberg s Erased De Kooning Drawing A Study of Rauschenberg s Erased de Kooning Drawing In 1953, Robert Rauschenberg had the idea of adding drawing to his All White Series. However, drawing on these paintings, or anywhere, would defeat the purpose of this series, and so he came to the conclusion that the only way he could achieve this would be through erasure. He began experimenting with his own drawings, but still being a young artist it he didn t think it would be considered art. For his idea to work, he thought, it had to be art that he erased. Having admiration and respect for artist Willem de Kooning, Rauschenberg decided to buy a bottle of Jack Daniels, and go to his house. Rauschenberg explained to de Kooning his idea, and asked if he could use a drawing of his. Reluctant, de Kooning agreed, only because he understood the idea. After looking through his portfolios, de Kooning handed Rauschenberg a drawing that he would miss, and that was almost impossible to erase. A month later, Rauschenberg successfully erased de Kooning s drawing, and with the help of Jasper Johns, titled the piece in ink, and framed it. Robert Rauschenberg s Erased de Kooning Drawing can be seen as either a minimalist piece or conceptual piece. Through a clearer understanding of both movements, the aim of this essay is to show how this piece could be seen as a minimal piece or a conceptual piece, and to see which movement it leans more towards. Minimalism has been described as the last of modernist styles and thus a ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 6. The Wrong Direction Religion has convinced modern society to not only consider humanity s well being: what God wants and our place in either Heaven or Hell in the afterlife (Sutter). Religion, even though there are billions of followers, is based solely on what just a few important religious characters have said. For instance, Islam was started by a man named Mohammed, who communicated with God and became a prophet. Nobody saw him or the angel which visited Mohammed at this time, however, when Mohammed came down from the mountain where he was praying, and began to spread the message, people who had previously been polytheists converted to Mohammed s new religion: Islam. Over the course of Mohammed s life, as depicted in the movie The Message , many ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The second purpose of religion is to instill hope, such as the concept of an afterlife. When a Christian dies, others will believe that they will be able to see each other again when they die, based on the concept that there is a Heaven, where all Christians go (given they prayed for forgiveness and didn t commit any high level crimes, such as murder). However, if that person disobeyed the Christian rules, that person will go to Hell, an eternal damnation. This specific element of religion is one of the main reasons for joining a religion the hope of Heaven for Christians, and similar environments in other religions. However, this isn t the only way the hope of religion is used. When a religious individual prays, many times they will ask a favor of God, such as Please God, let me get an A on this paper , or Please God, help me lose weight . This is where I personally begin to have problems rather than focusing on achieving something personally, such as studying and working hard on a paper, or going to the gym every day to lose weight, prayer is commonly used as a vehicle to hope that something will come true with virtually no work put in. Another example of this hope is if one has a headache and prays to God it will go away, there will be two outcomes: it goes away naturally, then God is celebrated by the individual as their savior, or the headache persists and the individual believes that God is simply testing one s faith. I would ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 7. Tattoos Of Ancient Egyptian Women Essay One in every five Americans have a tattoo. It is no longer surprising to see people with markings on their bodies. Many believed it is a form of self expression. Even though some cultures or religions view tattoos as a negative thing, that does not stop people from getting them. To have a better understanding about tattoos we must go back and trace how it all began. From the tools, they used to the ink, it is incredible how tattooing has evolved over the years. Tattoos have been around since 3,000 B.C. The oldest discovery of a tattooed mummy was the Iceman . The frozen body was discovered by hikers in 1991. The tattoos discovered on the body had no specific drawing there were just straight lines and small crosses. This led to believed that tattooing was used as a therapeutic to relieve pain. The Egyptians hold the true claim to fame regarding tattoos. It was common practice for Egyptian women of high status to received tattoos for the same sort of therapeutic reasons. Tattooing of ancient Egyptian women had a therapeutic role and function as a permanent form of amulet during the very difficult time of pregnancy and birth (Line berry 2). • 8. Reflection On Managing A Team In the past I have worked for some really good managers and some not so good ones, however, what I realized is that while they may have done the basic requirements to manage the people under them, they did not do so efficiently and effectively. This is something that pricked me and then I realised that I needed to learn and overcome this shortcoming and manage my team in a more effective and efficient way. When this course was offered for the first time in our program it grabbed my attention as it fit perfectly in what I wanted to tailor within myself as a future manager. These are my learnings and how I wish to reform myself. Our first class focused on Forming Teams and Introductions It started in a very friendly manner and through an introductory exercise, every individual had to talk spontaneously about their positive qualities and how each of us could benefit from the other and bring the same to the team. For me the question, what each individual could add to the team really stood out because everyone had something unique to say about themselves and I will certainly use it in the future while forming teams. Later, we had a small team exercise of making 15 paper airplane and this exercise taught us the Forming part of the team model that is how to adapt quickly in a new team, help each other and come up with a solution. During this entire process one team member was asked to observe without giving any inputs. This technique deemed simple and creative as I felt it ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 12. What Is My Favourite Memory Essay Whenever you come to visit me in this hospital whilst i lie in this isolated, vegetative state memories of our times together come rushing back to me. These memories that I reminisce about are now my life, the only thing I can really, truly connect to. I recall my favourite days in winter when the light of the day had been replaced by the unrelenting blackness of the night, and we would sit in the little café. Sitting there with mugs of coffee cupped between our stone cold hands, the warmth of the fire against our backs slowly warming us up. The sweet smell of the cinnamon buns that would diffuse around us which made it difficult to resist the temptation of eating anymore, despite the guilt we should have probably felt about the huge amount we had already consumed. The Café that once was filled with our bursts of loud uncivilised laughter from which people could have probably heard from outside in the pouring rain, was now from what I can imagine just a lifeless café. There was nothing fancy about this café, no fancy furniture, no white etching upon the glass, the feeling of just being there together and feeling as if we were away from the loud intimidating noises of London s streets was what made this café so great. I recall meeting in the little cafe that was not far from where we both lived every day after our long days at work. Whatever the circumstance both of us would be there, so we could reminisce for hours and hours about our days of chaoticness and madness. This was until ten years ago, the day when I didn t turn up to the café, the day my life ended physically and yours mentally. Now I lie here in this hospital bed, my thoughts disattached from what was my body. I am locked inside this body which was once mine but now it is a stranger to me and I have no control over what happens to it and when. At first all I could feel was frustration. Frustration because I couldn t respond to you when you would talk to me, your hand in what used to be my hand, your fingers entwined in fingers that are now unknown to me for i now have no feeling in this body you call mine. There s no word for how I feel. I am now frozen, unable to do anything but listen to the world go by, trying to live everyones ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 16. The Controversy Over Creationism And Evolution Introduction The controversy over Creationism and Evolution is a widely debated topic, especially when it comes to what is being taught in the biology classrooms in public schools today. It may be hard to imagine, but just over 100 years ago the curriculum and beliefs would have looked dramatically different. One central court case that created a spark of bringing evolution to public schools was the infamous Scopes trial of 1925 in which science teacher John Scopes challenged Tennessee state law and taught evolution in his high school science class. Tennessee state legislature had passed a bill, known as the Butler Act just months before, banning the teaching of evolution. The American Civil Liberties Union (ACLU) represented Scopes after his arrest in a case that riveted public attention. Although at trial Scopes was ultimately found guilty, the Butler Act was no longer enforced and laws prohibiting evolution being taught in the classroom continually were defeated over the course of the next two years. In 1968, the ACLU went to the Supreme Court on behalf of Susan Epperson to fight against the ban on teaching evolution in Arkansas. The Supreme Court ruled unanimously that the ban as unconstitutional as the First Amendment under the Establishment clause does not allow teachings to tailor to certain religions ( State of Tennessee V. Scopes, n.d.). For this project, we ll take a deeper look at this controversy. With evolution being the commonly accepted theory among ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Co crystallization involves two main steps: nucleation (the material starts its crystallization process on a specific site) which can occur in labile zone that is a zone not optimal for crystal growth, and second the crystal or co crystal growth. The solid crystals can be formed from liquid, melt or gas, and are more stable than the individual initial materials and held together by non covalent forces. Compared to the initial material, the co crystal has a different crystallinity, solubility and mechanical properties ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Langston Hughes The Weary Blues Analysis On Langston Hughes s The Weary Blues Kevin Young, a graduate of Harvard University and one of the winners of the Guggenheim Fellowship, writes the historical perspective of Langston Hughes.
