My Teaching Philosophy Statement
Statement of Teaching Philosophy
Stephanie Speicher, M.Ed.
I regard it as the foremost task of education to insure the survival of these qualities: an enterprising
spirit, tenacity in pursuit, readiness for sensible self denial, and above all compassion
Hahn, K. (1957, p.10). Outward bound. New York City: World Books.
Foundation The Sunrise I stood watching the sunrise on the final day of a weeklong backpack/rock
climbing training with my college orientation program. The tears streamed down my face, without
my knowledge, as I processed all that I had experienced that week. I spent much time immersed
learning HOW to teach in an outdoor environment. My tears came from knowing I was heading into

The environment the teacher creates is instrumental to encouraging or inhibiting learning. It is my
job to create a dynamic, exciting, and interconnected environment that encourages students to be
part of thought provoking conversation and potential learning opportunities. Specifically, when
teaching social studies, it is crucial I treat subject matter as interconnected, emphasizing that
everything students are learning fits together into a complete understanding of the world, from
which they develop their personal global perspective.
Finally, I believe the concept of respect must be present and felt by my students and colleagues. Not
only to respect and be open to the content presented in class, but also to motivate them to respect
themselves, each other and members of our global community.
Experience is the Key
I consider three overarching goals to each teaching moment I am presented with, each of them
embedded in my conception of teaching as a temptation to Experience. First, I ask students to
experience the specific course content. As a teacher of social studies, I see my task as creating
spaces for students to encounter and discuss at both a personal and professional level fundamental
questions of power, justice, identity, equity, and freedom. Asking my students to experience the
course content also means encouraging active and participatory learning.
Second, I ask students to experience moments with me and with each other. I model and clearly lay

Essay about The Americanization Of Canada
When the topic of Canada comes up among peoples, immediately the thought of ice hockey, the
Mounted Police, and beavers comes to mind. In fact, Canada has truly lost its true identity that we
once knew. It is slowly being assimilated and in fact Americanized ; in aspects of social identity,
national identity, and cultural identity.
First, Canada is being slowly Americanized ; in its social identity. When we talk about a country s
social identity, we examine a few areas. First is the media, which is constantly bombarding
Canadians with images and values of American culture. Through the images we see Americans
constantly fighting, either in aspects of global policing in their own backyard with Americans
killing Americans. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
First thought that comes to most peoples minds is that of the mounted police, beavers, ice hockey,
and wide land mass. In fact, our national identity has been brought about by the American way of
life. This buying spree essentially started when Walt Disney purchased the Mounted Police s
image o it could be displayed in the Ebcot center. The most powerful, stunning uniform is to be
adorned by some no account, flag waving, hillbilly yokel. Another national image wh8ich spans
all three topics of social, natural and cultural is that of Tim Horton s. The one place where we
all go almost every day, has been bought by an American, Dave Thomas. The image of hockey is
distorted as well for there are 28 teams in the NHL, and only 6 of those teams are based in
Canada. That means that Canada only has 21% of what is considered to be a national sport. The
government image is distorted in the Canadians mind as well. All of the American s television
shows and news would have some Canadians believe that our governments work the same, and all
courts operate in the same way as Judge Judy s and the People s Court. In summary, not only are
Canadians loosing the social identity but their national identity as well.
Third, not only is the Americanization of Canada taking place through the social and national
identities, but also through cultural identities. Canada is viewed as a mosaic and not a melting pot
such as in the States

Perspective Of Panchali
New Perspective of Panchali in Chitra Banerjee Divakaruni s The Palace of Illusion
Abstract: In The Palace of Illusion, Divakaruni portrays Panchali as a bold, powerful and
independent woman, an equal to the men and not subservient. She presents Panchali s life as a
series of choices made by her and giving her a voice in the overwhelmingly patriarchal society that
was ancient India. Divakaruni interprets the epic Mahabharat which provides a complete narrative.
She gives a stronger role to the women of the story, and portrays them as equals in society. This
paper aims at the new perspective given to Panchali by Chitra Banerjee Divakaruni. Draupadi has
been portrayed mostly negatively in Hindu society in India and we will fail to find girls being
named after her. Many believe that it was her headstrong actions that brought about the destruction
of the Third Age of Man. She is known to be a kritya one who brings doom to her clan. But
Divakaruni moves away from such interpretations to provide a new outlook of Panchali.
Key words: Perspective View point, Patriarchal Relating to a system run by male in society,
Subservient Submissive, Interpretation Explanation, Headstrong Determined.

But her only worry, at this point is, how the spotlight of history would fall on her when she was
leading a cloistered existence in the ―mausoleum of a palace‖. She does not want her life to
be recorded in the records of history as a mere victim of circumstances. It is significant to note that
in most constructions of Draupadi, in both literary and non literary texts, she is seen as a prey of
patriarchy which is perpetuated by the dominant discourses of the time. In Divakaruni s version,
Draupadi wants to be a maker of her own

Doctor-Patient Relationship Essay
More than just a diagnosis
To listen to personal stories of what it is like to be unwell is an incredible way for medical
students and doctors to learn about illness and gain firsthand insight into Whole person care .
Earlier this year, I got the opportunity as part of our ELM3 Healthcare in the Community (HIC)
group to meet and learn about a member of the community with a traumatic brain injury and her
interactions with healthcare professionals and personal journey towards recovery. An open
discussion allowed us to learn about her narrative, which provided many examples of the distinction
between disease and illness and the importance of a patient centered approach to healthcare.
This opportunity is one of many the Otago School of Medicine and its HIC programme have
organised to build a foundation and develop into becoming a well rounded and patient focused
doctor. It has allowed me to learn a vast amount about myself and certainly has expanded my
views on the importance of patient centered healthcare. This essay is a reflective piece where I
will expand on the story of Miss X and some specific learning experiences that have helped me
appreciate the integrated approach to the healing process of medicine as well as the importance of
the doctor patient relationship.
Approximately twelve years ago, at the age of twenty one, Miss X was involved in a motor
vehicle accident resulting in a traumatic brain injury and leaving her in a coma for nine and a half
weeks. Upon

The Flag On The Island Essay
binary oppositions in V.S. Naipaul s short story The Flag on the Island . This aim is achieved via
using Derrida s deconstruction and Bhabha s definition of these terms. Considering culture as a
means of domination to get possession of control over the instruments of collective self definition is
considered as a very significant policy in the political and cultural conflict for emancipation. This
article focuses on a tension between recently autonomous nation and former colonial beliefs which
results in binarism between modern and traditional values that led to the denigration of non Western
cultures. Therefore, the writer attempts to show how the characters of this story make effort to
abolish this idea and retrieve the local and native traditions that were destructed during colonialism.
This study concentrates on all characters and examines their contradictions and their effort for
consistency that can be discussed through a deconstructive analysis.
Key words: Mimicry, Colonialism, Post colonialism, Binary opposition, Culture.
Introduction
The Flag on the Island is one of the creative works of V.S. Naipaul which originates from his
experience from his own birthplace and challenges the concepts of Self and Other that have been
constructed during the colonialism. This story was written at the beginning of postcolonial period
when the Trinidad society was transferring from a colonial to a postcolonial society. Subsequently,

The Food Products By Michael Pollan
While most the food products that are out in the market today can barely be considered food to
some people, in my opinion, the majority of the people don t know what is in the food products
they buy but purchase these food products anyhow. I, myself being one of the people that don t
always know what is in the foodproducts I purchase. After listening to the TED Talks and reading
articles from Food Matters, my opinion of what can be considered real food has drastically
changed. Although I already spend most of my time in the peripheries of the market, I do not
spend all of my time there so I would like to challenge myself to following one of Michael Pollan
s rules and plan to shop the peripheries of the supermarket and stay out of the middle (15). I am
currently in charge of all the cookingand food shopping for my family so I feel a huge
responsibility to try to find healthy food for my family to eat. I did not grow with healthy food
and I wanted that to change now that I have a family of my own. I try to keep my son active in
our trips to the market by having him pick out at least one fruit and one vegetable that he would
like for that week as well as helping me pick healthy snacks that he can take to school. I have a
hope that in asking him to help me make healthy choices now, will help for him to make the
same healthy choices later in life. I try my best to have all of our meals home cooked which is

The Reasons for Britain s Relinquishment of Hong Kong
With martial and precision music played, the sovereignty of Hong Kong was returned from Britain
to China officially in a ceremony held on July 1st, 1997. The ceremony symbolized that Hong
Kong moved into a new era that is a dramatic change from capitalist territory to Communist control
and in the meanwhile, the colonial power of Britain in Hong Kongwas eventually declared the end.
The purpose of this research paper is to analyze the reasons for the relinquishment of Hong Kong
from three aspects that is historical background, the negotiation between British and Chinese
governments and the results.
Date back to 1800s in China, after the failure of two Opium Wars; Hong Kong entirely became a
colony of Britain according to two unequal treaties that are Treaty of Nanking and Convention of
Peking. As Hong Kong is a colony, it must be resumed over one day. After the foundation of People
s Republic of China, PRC needed to build up diplomatic development and this historical issue was
brought to the table. Although the relinquishment issue was complicated and the negotiation
between British and Chinese governments was back and forth, it was well solved in 1984 by
signing Sino British Joint Declaration. The declaration stated that Hong Kong must be handed over
with effect from July 1st, 1997; moreover, both two countries agreed on one country, two systems
this suggestive political principle. On July 1st, 1997, Hong Kong was returned to China and the
success of the relinquishment

Stormbreaker by Anthony Horowitz Essay
Stormbreaker by Anthony Horowitz
The book, Stormbreaker, by Anthony Horowitz is about a boy named Alex, whose uncle had
just died in a car crash (or so they say). He finds out that his uncle was really shot by a man named
Yassen Gregorovich. Alex s uncle, Ian Rider, really worked for MI6. He was a spy that was hired
by MI6 to figure out the secret behind Herod Sayle and his Stormbreaker computers that he was
donating to every school in England. Ian Rider had figured out the secret, but before he could
reveal it to MI6, he was shot and killed. Alex s uncle was the only family he had left, and so it
deeply affected him. MI6 decided that they were going to give Alex either the choice of becoming
a spy and taking the mission his uncle ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
192). Right when she said, I m feeling dizzy, you go on, I knew she was tricking him. But, of
course, Alex just happened to have the tool that can burn through metal in his pocket, so he used it
on the fish tank and it collapsed. I was also surprised that Sayle had implanted the small pox virus
into the Stormbreaker computers that he was sending out to every school (p. 186). That was how
he planned to harm everybody in England.
I really admire the character of Alex because he is very courageous and intelligent. At the
beginning of the book, Alex wanted to find out if the story about his uncle getting in a car
accident was true or not, so he went to the auto wreckage center nearest his house to search for
the car. Once he had been searching a lot for the vehicle, he ended up finding it to see it in
perfect condition except for bullet holes in the windshield (p. 19). He heard people coming, so
he hid inside the car. Then a big crane picked the car up and starting smashing it in a machine,
with Alex still inside! After all the struggling, he managed to get out of the car just before it went
through the part of the machine that totally crushes the car into a cylinder (p. 24). I felt pretty
bad for Alex. It must have been hard for him to have to go through a really brutal training camp
for something he didn t even want to do, especially since he had just lost his last family member.
He had no idea what was going to happen to him

Diversity Is The Human Race
DIVERSITY PAPER
Gay. Straight. Black. White. Male. Female. Wealthy. Poor. Modern society has systematically
sorted the human race into collections and communities of descriptive factors. Deeply embedded
within a systematical labeling system, diversity has fell victim to the harmful segregation and
prejudice of the past. Diversity is not about the inferior nor the morally corrupt. Diversity is not the
hallow substance of labels. Diversity is culture, pride, and heritage.
To rural South Dakotans, diversity amongst the human race is rare. In the agricultural state I call
home, variation lies not in the people but rather in the contrasting species of livestock and corn.
Hailing from a town population of 3,025, any kind of knowledge about a social world beyond
Hartford, South Dakota was limited. I set up my childhood moral system on a tainted blend of
inaccurate perceptions and assumptions. A moral system which would ring true until I found
myself as the diversity. I am my own diversity. I am the collection of the variant and the assortment
of different. I am gay.
To answer any impending questions which may be surrounding one s head at the current time, just
lean towards the answer no. While some individuals may be born with the innate sense of who
they are, I was not. Unfortunately, my sense of childhood identity came not from deep self
reflection and soul searching, but rather a combination of my restricted experiences and limited
knowledge of the social world. I was not

Arguments Against Abortion
Introduction Although, currently legalized, abortion continues to be a burdening ethical issue in
America. From 1973 to 2011 approximately 53 million legal abortions were performed in the
United States (Procon.org, 2015, p.1). Pro Choice supporters hail an abortion is a woman s choice
and a protected personal right that should not be limited by governmental or religious authority
(Procon.org, 2015, p.1). However, Pro Life supporters contend that a human life begins at the very
moment of conception and thus an abortionis the immoral killing of an innocent human being
(Procon.org, 2015, p.1). Thus, there are various arguments to be considered on both sides.
Pro Choice
Many contend that in attempting to delegalized abortions the government ... Show more content on

Pro Life supporters insist that a child is considered a human being at the very moment of
conception. Thus, abortion is murder and is unethical because the right to live was stripped
from the child. A child can be aborted up to 24 weeks of life and in some states later (Procon.org,
2015, p.1). Furthermore, a fetus does feel pain during the abortion procedure because by eight
weeks the most primitive response to pain, the spinal reflex, is developed (Procon.org, 2015,
p.1). Moreover, the psychological affects of an abortion can be overwhelming such as increased
depression and anxiety (Procon.org, 2015, p.1). A 2002 peer reviewed study published by the
Southern Medical Journal... found that women who aborted were 154% more likely to commit
suicide than women who carried to term (Procon.org, 2015, p.1). Pro Life supporters believe
women must not be able to use an abortion as a means of contraception. If one becomes pregnant,
one must be responsible for the child they have brought to the world. Thousands of families desire
to adopt children, thus abortion significantly reduces the number of adoptable babies (Procon.org,
2015, p.1). Lastly, abortion promotes a culture in which human life is disposable and it is
acceptable to rid of a life that inconveniences you (Procon.org, 2015,

Using Material from Item a and Elsewhere, Asses the View...
Using material from item A and elsewhere assess the view that social class differences in
educational achievement are the result of school processes such as labelling.
Social class is typically known as social grouping or hierarchy based on differences in wealth,
income or occupation. In the UK there are mainly two social classes; working class and middle
class.
33% of students who are currently on free school meals achieve 5A* C at GCSE, however 61% of
students who are not on free school meals also achieve 5A* C grades. 90% of the failing school are
from deprived areas, and 79% of children from a higher professional family are more likely to go

This can affect those less able because it foes against the main stream. This is backed up by
Gilbourn and Youdell have examined the role of educational policies in creating the context for
such school processes to take place (Item A) Gilbourn and Youdell shows how teachers notions of
ability conclude to their decisions of which pupils have the potential to achieve 5A* C grade gcse
s. Neil Keddie then argues that the more intelligent students get taught more complex and advanced
information and methods while the students in the lower sets are not recognised and being left
behind. However Rosenthal and Jacobson performed an experiment where they picked random
students from the class who were also working class and told teachers they are able to improve, this
later resulted in teachers spending more time with these selected students which made them
improve and achieve better. Therefore showing that self fulfilling prophecy can have an effect in
education underachievement. To conclude sub cultures, labelling, streaming and self fulfilling
prophecy can effect education underachievement, due to social class, gender and race.
Being labelled tends to be based on your social class, where you will be labelled between smart and
dumb. Streaming is typically based on your ability on whether you re smart or dumb. Also, sub
cultures and self fulfilling prophecy is known to go under all social class, gender and race as it is a

Analysis Of Arm Wrestling With My Father And Shooting...
The Inability to Recognize Different Types of Love
Both Arm Wrestling with My Father and Shooting Dad written by Brad Manning and Sarah Vowell,
respectively, portrays a damaged and rough relationship that a son and/or daughter holds with his
father. Although they both find themselves struggling, they are dealing with different things,
Manning is dealing with a physical bounding, while Vowell finds herself handling a more emotional
and communicative type of bonding. Eventually, both characters find themselves in a mature
relationship over time. The characters had similarities and also differences with their respective
father. Throughout the stories, both authors dig into the relationship between child and father and
how it can be shaped and changed over time.
The difference between the bounding and the way affection is shown it s critical. Manning find
himself with a physical and somehow of psychological while Vowell find herself with a more
emotional relationship with more communication. Manning mentions, We never communicated as
well in speech or in writing [...] (1, paragraph 2), the bounding between Manning and his father

What Are The Four Federal Safety Standards
4 Federal Safety Standards Your Company Must Follow to a Tee
The Occupational Safety Health Administration (OSHA) employs about 2,200 safety inspectors
that oversee over 130 million workers in eight million worksites. OSHA safety inspectors are tasked
with investigating accidents, performing surprise inspections and consulting with companies to
improve safety conditions. The last thing that any company needs is a surprise inspection that
results in hefty fines and safety citations. Read below to learn about four federal safety standards

According to OSHA, lack of fall protection is the most frequency cited violation. For example,
construction sites notoriously fail to provide adequate fall protection systems. As a result, this is
the leading cause of worker fatalities in the construction industry. On the other hand, any
company that requires employees to work on surfaces above six feet will be required to provide
adequate guardrail and personal fall protection systems. For example, a regular office based
business that requires maintenance personnel to fix roofing problems will be required to follow
federal fall protection standards.

Comparison of Hofffman’s work, The Sandman, and
Mosse’s,...
Hofffman s work, The Sandman, and Mosse s, From Romanticism to the Volk, share cohesive
concepts, each examine the dramatic cultural shift toward promoting nationalist thought in the
minds of the German people. Through the rootlessness of his characters, the cognitive disparity
between Nathanael and Klara, and the structure of The Sandman, Hoffman aptly uses the folktale
genre to effectively reveal his disdain for the tenets of enlightenment as they challenged the new
Volk ideology of Germany. Mosse s scholarly analysis critically examined this same shift and
sought to clarify how the groundwork laid for the return to Germanic roots, exemplified in the Volk
neo romantic movement, came as a direct reaction to the industrial revolution. In The Sandman, we
are introduced to the character Coppelius, who quickly becomes the root of all evil in the
protagonist, Nathanael s life (pun intended). From the Volk perspective, it becomes apparent that
Coppelius malevolent traits are due to his lack of allegiance to Germanic cultural identity.
Nathanael suspects that Coppelius is not a true German , which was problematic in the German
Volk conceptualization of an idyllic state (47). Mosse explained: need to block quote The term
rooted was frequently invoked by Volkish thinkers as it supported their primary self definition.

How Does Margaret Atwood Affect Society
Margaret Atwood, one of Canada s most respected authors, is inspired by science fiction. She

Atwood continues the same type of symbolism in Rat Song because she compares the speaker to a

Obey or Disobedience
AMO Obey Or Disobedience ROUGH DRAFT In the story by Fromm, his outlook on obedience
and disobedience is that we have the ability to obey but the capacity to disobey is something that
society has influenced us to do naturally. Obedience and disobedience has always been part of a
never ending cycle that is consistently going round and round. Throughout history it has been
evident that soldier s obey their commander s, that knights uphold the ruling of their king, and that
their disobedience is about the shifting of power. So, too, is our nation being part of that cycle
and repeating history. Our nation s soldiers obey orders given by the President. Whether they are

lovers and the haters, it is the opposites that make the stereotype of each other. In the Ashe
article, it talked about how we conform to the position we are given. If you were one of the
poisoners, you would imitate and believe that you are one. If you are a guard, you would play
the part and show the power you hold to those that are beneath you. That is society; those that are
on top would always look down upon those that are beneath them and those beneath would do
almost anything to bask in their glory. And then there are those that would do what they can to
bring them down. Society has naturally catered to those that are disobedient, it may be from fear
of their new found power and wealth, or it may be that they are righteous and know what their
actions are for the good of all. We are the one that put them on the pedestal of admiration. We
learned from a young age to honor and respect those that put themselves on the line for the good of
the nation. Being raised into the military lifestyles was hard and very obedient. My

Printing Organs And The Human Body
Printing organs has been talked about and attempted to be used for close to 40 years. Printing
organs can help with advancements in many ways because it could help many of the people that
are on the Organ Transplanting List, not to mention it could save countless lives as well. If organs
are able to be printed and executed for procedures and transplants, then we could reduce hospital
bills that increase during the time that you are waiting for an organ. Therefore, making a large
advancement in the healthcare field. Organ printingcan be very difficult and must be executed very
carefully considering that the body may reject the new organ. Three dimensional (3D) printing
is a manufacturing method in which objects are made by fusing or depositing materials such as
plastic, metal, ceramics, powders, liquids, or even living cells in layers to produce a 3D object
(Ventola, October 2014). It is incredible to see how such materials can be used to be put together
to make a living organism that can be used in a human s body. As a person ages this could be
very useful because organs tend to fail and become weak when a person gets older they could
potentially be used to replace the failing organs. There are many different types of 3D printing
and they do all come with some positives but at the same time they come with some negatives as
well. There is selective laser printing, an SLS printer uses powdered material as the substrate for
printing new objects. A laser draws the shape of

The Relationship Between Physical Geography And Human...
How do physical geography and human geography overlap?
NAME: Alva GRADE: 10X
Maybe some people will think human geography has no relation between physical geography. But I
think human geography has a great effect on physical geography, and physical geography has a
great effect on human geography too.
As an intellectual discipline, geography is divided into the sub fields of physical geography and
human geography, the latter concentrating upon the study of human activities, by the application of
qualitative and quantitative research methods.
Physical geography is that branch of natural science which deals with the study of processes and
patterns in the natural environment like the atmosphere, hydrosphere, biosphere, and geosphere, as
opposed to the cultural or built environment, the domain ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net

The earthquake made the nuclear leak, and the nuclear leak not only affected the human activities,
but also affected the environment as well. The nuclear radiation affects the soil and the sea around
the station. Many fish died and the sea was polluted.
It seems that the earthquake brought a trail of things that happen later. So we can learn for this that
physical geography and human geography are connected and affects each other almost every time.
And the third example is the population. If the population increase, people need more places to
live. They need more soil to grow the food. This will make the soil loose and the water may flood it
away. And the other activities of human will pollute the environment. However, the bad
environment will affect the human activities.
So, as we are human, we can do something to protect the environment. It is good to ourselves. We
can do a very small thing like using less disposable goods in our daily lives. Since we cannot
control the environment, we should make some safeguards before the disaster

The Nation of Islam Essay examples
The Nation of Islam: A Source of Hope
In the early 1930 s, in Detroit, when the Nation of Islam was initially founded it was not really
widely known. It was a very secluded and introverted religion and community. It was not until they
came under the leadership of Elijah Muhammad that the Nation of Islam became a household name
in the early 1960 s. The Nation of Islam, during the 60 s, was one of the forerunners for African
American unity. They strove for a separate black community. They wanted to be completely
separated from the white community only because, according to their beliefs, white people were all
devils. Elijah Muhammad being influenced by many people and factors in his life led the Nation of

However, Poole s ideals began to slowly change when he moved to Detroit in the 1920s at the
age of 22. During that time in Detroit, Marcus Garvey was an orator and leader to the black
community. Pool traveled to Chicago to hear one of Garvey s messages. Garvey s message
conveyed the ideas of the redemption of Africa, an independent black economy, the importance
of racial identity, and the pride and solidarity blacks should have for themselves. Of course Pool
was influenced by Garvey s words, along with other African Americans, because during the time
of the Depression those encouraging and uplifting words brought a lot of hope to people. Pool
was a perfect example of one in need of hope especially after he lost his job at the Cherokee Brick
Company in Macon. (Turner) One could come to the conclusion that the Depression itself was
another factor in the need for hope, which was produced by the Nation of Islam in later years.
During the 1920 s, the black population started to grow very fast in Detroit. In the second year of
the Great Depression, blacks and other European immigrants were in deep competition for jobs. As
a result, blacks feelings towards whites became more bitter. It didn t matter if it were the
immigrants that they were in competition with or even to the police to that matter. Blacks just
became more resentful toward white people, in Detroit. Another contributing factor to the conflict
between blacks and whites was

Spoon River Analogy Essay
Spoon River Analysis
Zilpha Marsh Of all the characters in Spoon River, only one has the key ingredient that makes the
book complete; that person is Zilpha Marsh. Even though Zilpha is mentioned only once within the
book, she represents a controversial issue debated everywhere and can be related to people in real
life. Zilpha represents mystery, supernatural, and spiritual beings, every word that is written about

Dental Ethical Issues
In a lot of ways, ethics can be very opinionated. Sure, there are guidelines such as code of
conduct, but, just like things such as religion, it can be based all in how you interpret it and how
you apply it. Unfortunately, many bad things are done for the greater good. As dentistry is gearing
more towards aesthetics, ethical issues have been becoming more on the raise than ever before.
Some ethical issues of concern in the dental chair would be things like patient autonomy or over
diagnosis/treatment. Now a days, more and more people have sought after that perfect hollywood

Most of the time the decision is made to oblige the patient. I have only mentioned a couple issues
here, but there are issues involving overtreatment for the gain of more money, under treatment,
violations to patient autonomy and violations to patient confidentiality. As a rising senior in the
dental hygiene program, I am faced with ethical issues probably every day. We sometimes have
patients come in who need treatment that is way past our scope of practice. What do we do?
We do what we can for them, that is within our scope of practice, and refer them out. However, I
ve heard plenty of stories from our instructors dealing with dentists who will perform oral
surgery and even orthodontics when they are not specialized in it. Is it legal? Actually, yes it is.
All dentists are provided with training in these areas while in school. The real question is: is it
ethical? Personally I would say no, because these dentists are not on the profession skill level of
a dentist who has specialized in that area. But, this does happen very often. I ve had time studying
some case studies in order to figure out what my ethical beliefs are in order to better place myself
when I graduate. Thanks to the American Dental Hygiene Association (ADHA), we are provided
with Principles of Ethics as well to help us navigate through some of the ethical issues that might
sit in our chair that day. However, the dilemmas will require us to dig down deep and make the

Scenario Between Arnold, Bertram, Charlie, And Patice
Scenario Explained
The scenario between Arnold, Bertram, Charlie and Doris is a classic issue of offer and
acceptance. These are two elements of a valid contract. The scenario also raises its potential of
being an invitation to treat as this is a stark contrast to that of an offer. That is, we must consider
whether the notice placed on the car constitutes a valid offer or if it was a mere invitation to treat. If
this notice does amount to a valid offer where Arnold outlines the terms and conditions (the price
at which he was willing to sell and his telephone number) by which he is willing to be legally
bound we must look at the possible issues that may arise and what possible steps Arnold can take to
deal with his situation.
Arnold appears to be the principal party who makes definite terms pertaining to the sale of his car,
from this we can conclude that the notice placed on his cars does in fact demonstrate a clear intent
to be legally bound. This is a unilateral offer where Arnold outlined the terms and condition to
which he is willing to be legally bound, he is inviting the public to ... Show more content on

Sport plays a crucial role for many people in improving quality of life. Sport in this day in age,
can promote social inclusion, providing opportunities for all regardless of age, sex, colour,
religion, age, physical ability, economic background with people and the world around them. As a
result of the large array of diversity in sport although, one in five people experience racism at sports

Due to sport being subject to a large audience, when racism does occurs in the stadia, the whole

doing it, it is acceptable for another person to copy them. As a consequence of racism in stadia, a
lower quality of life and mental health concerns can arise. Through this, sporting clubs and
organizations are impacted as it can lead people to not become involved in the sport out of fear of
being a target. It can also lead to individuals not performing to the best of their ability, thus creating
an unpopular environment for that player. An atmosphere of mistrust and hatred is therefore
created among the sporting clubs and organization if the issue is not tackled

During the late 19th century in Kansas there was a movement among the general population called

time the Populist Party engaged the Republican stronghold in a battle to win over the state,
however, in the end the Republicans pulled through. William Allen White, at this time, had become

Populism explains the rise of Populism in 1890 across Kansas as a response to the frustrations of
adapting crop selections and pest management routines to the sub humid environment. Farmers
raised hell in the fall of 1890, in part, because they had not yet formed the farm management
skills that could have prevented such a collapse of operating income. If Populist voters were
choked by monopoly power, the party should have done significantly worse in those townships
served by several competing railroad lines; but if Populist voters were motivated by a dispirited
hunt for capital gains on land through nearness to railway improvements, Populist candidates
should have prospered as they moved farthest away from a rail station. Therefore, if Populist
voters were motivated simply by bitterness over the fact that their township did not have a rail
station then Populist candidates should have done better in a township with no railway station at
all. What was most important was 1) whether a township had a railroad station and 2) how far the
average farmer had to travel to reach a railhead. The farmer s response to crop failures, insect
damage, and the realization that a township might never get a railway station varied. Populism has
become a movement precisely because of how the farm families of the central West adapted to the
sub humid agricultural conditions in hand with how a band of colorful political

Hard Work Should Pay Off
Hard work and dedication pays off for athletes but goes unnoticed for cheerleaders. The hard
work that is put in by cheerleaders needs to be recognized. Allowing cheerleaders to earn an
athletic letter but not be a part of the Chillicothe High School (CHS) C Club, like the other
athletic letter recipients, is being unjust to the cheerleaders. Cheerleaders should be able to be a
part of the CHS C Club because cheerleaders are able to receive an athletic letter, dedicate personal

Cheerleaders, along with athletes in varsity sports, receive an athletic letter at the end of the

(Quoted shortly after the inauguration of the VГ©lib system, July 2007.)
According to his inauguration, the VГ©lib system appoints the need of both personalized and
mobility and low carbon solutions for urban transport passenger system. The main modal for this
system is to provide low environments that reduce the impact of mobility service for large cities

common rationales cited by bike programs is that they provide an effective substitute for at least
some of the large numbers of short distance trips made by cars in urban areas, often with only one

them a heavy environmental burden.
If many passengers tend to use private vehicle, this objective cannot be achieved. However Paris

Impact Of Natural Resources On Economic Growth
QUESTION 9
Natural resource and its effect on economic growth and dynamics of conflicts.
1.0 Introduction
Natural resources are raw materials extracted from the earth. They are useful in many different
ways for its diversified opportunity of benefit and profit for economic development. Examples of
natural resources are mineral, oil, waterways, land, timber, diamonds, coals, coltan and genetic.
Majority of developing countries, distributions of natural resources vary from one geographic
location to another. The variability of location has caused greed and grievances in economic
development. This was attributed to more risk of conflict, weak governance, and poor economic
performance.
2.0 Effect of natural resources on economic growth.
According to Collier and Hoeffer (2003), there are three major factors that depend on the primary
commodity exports such as income per capita, rate of economic growth, and structure of the
economy, the higher the rate of primary commodities exports the higher the level of risk of conflict.
Developing countries that are dependent on natural resources are more liable to terms of trade
shocks, which leads to instability and dissatisfaction within the groups that suffer the shocks. Since
natural resources are wealth and unevenly distributed causes the rebel groups ventures in various
forms of extortion, exploitation, and trade of primary commodity. The best known types of conflict

Coming Of Age Films Essay
For this paper, I am going to be discussing gender in the institution of films. Specifically, I am
going to be discussing femininity in coming of age films. Coming of age movies set an expectation
for teens and young adults because it lays out what they should fear and what they should thrive
achieve in order to transition into adulthood successfully. The media defines cultural and gender
norms that are often very stereotypical. The cultivation theory suggests that exposure to stereotypes
in the media can lead to adopting these beliefs in their real lives (Giaccardi et al., 2016). In the
media, masculinityis often portrayed as aggression, power, dominance, status seeking, emotional
restraint, heterosexuality, and risk taking. (Giaccardi et al., 2016) In most films and media it is
hegemonic masculinity that is displayed rather than other types of masculinity (Giaccardi et al.,
2016.) In regards to femininity, it is often constructed as white suburban and focused on
consumerism (Bickford, 2015). When portraying women and young girls in films and TV shows a
common narrative is often the womandeciding between her career and personal happiness,
because women can not have it all (Bickford, 2015). In coming of age movies young people in
some way often tell the narratives of trying to achieve some form of femininity or masculinity. I

Comparing Ovid s The Myth Of Daedalus And Icarus
The myth of Daedalus and Icarus has been approached by many different artists with many
differing depictions of the event. Some artists such as Ovid, chose to focus on Daedalus and Icarus
and leave everyone else out. Other artists, for instance, Pieter Bruegel the Elder and W. H. Auden,
have much more panoramic views of the situation and include others in their works. Different
approaches can leave the readers with different understandings of this ancient myth.
In Ovid s The Myth of Daedalus and Icarus, the author uses a third person point of view to closely
follow Daedalus and Icarus. From this, readers are more tightly attached to the characters and
know more about them. Readers of this story witness the inventing and engineering of the wings
by Daedalus and know the conflicting desires of Daedalus to escape from prison and to protect

H. Auden, refers to the painting mentioned previously. Auden does not focus primarily on the fall
of Icarus, much like the painting, but chooses to concentrate more on artists and their depictions
of suffering. Auden says, the ploughman may Have heard the splash, the forsaken cry, But for
him it was not an important failure. The author is essentially verbalizing the painting Landscape
with the Fall of Icarus. Much like Icarus isn t a huge part of the painting, he is also given very
little mention in this poem. The underlying theme of this poem is that suffering is surrounded by
the busyness of everyday life. Even this poem is a perfect example of the overshadowing of
suffering by other things, itself overshadowing the tragic demise of Icarus with other mundane
events. This also places Icarus story in the hands of an outsider, leading readers to become less

Importance Of My High School Football Team
A High School Football Team is a community of students selected to play together in the school
team where all the students have the fair opportunity to join the team. There will be a lot of
students in the team including a student from different cultures. I was one of students who joined
the football teamin high school. As a Nepali refugee who had never heard of football until he came
to America, the transition to play for my school team was not easy. I entered a discourse
community of my High School FootballTeam by developing my knowledge about football,
communicating, and making friends with team members from different culture and social
group. My journey to the school team was hard, but it was worth. I became part of a football
team because students are taught to be responsible and mature in the team. Joining a football
team was a great opportunity for me to make a lifelong friendship with other players learning
about leadership, communicating, and working with a team. Just like other players, I played
with a hope of getting a scholarship for college. I began with desired to become a true member of
this community, but I was so determined that I end up leading a team by becoming a team
captain. Therefore, it is important for everybody to learn the experiences of others because there
might be somebody out there who wants to be part of any team, but maybe they are afraid to step
up to join that team thinking he or she is different among all. It doesn t matter who you are,

Family Structure In America
The family structure in America is intertwined with the experience of poverty; that not only affect
the people that are going through it but affects everyone and every country. Poverty is lack of
basic human needs, which commonly includes clean and fresh water, nutrition, healthcare,
education, clothing, shelter and influences how the families operate, how the child fits in and
their roles. +Single mothers are also more likely to be poor because of the lower income earners,
inadequate public assistance and lack of child support from fathers which leads to single women
headed households are more likely to be impoverished than traditional households. Literature

Naps In The Workplace
The young boys heavy eyelids flutter as he tries to finish his college application a few minutes
until the deadline. He had not had a nap that day and struggled through time trials at cross country
practice. A few hours later he glanced at the clock and he noticed that he was far past the deadline.
Had he taken a nap he would have finished his collegeapplication and would have the chance to
attend his dream college. Americans are afraid of naps because they are afraid that the world
around us will leave us behind and we don t have enough time. We just don t have time to nap is
a point that Bridgette Uhde elaborates on, As you age you don t need as many naps... And I just
don t have time. She tries to excuse her lack of naps for her... Show more content on Helpwriting.net

It s the culture of the USA where people feel required to put in a number of hours or work more
than others, Aaron Uhde states during his interview. Although this may be true, America is trying
to change this through major corporations such as Nike and Google. They have nap rooms and
encourage meditation and relaxation. Another reason that it is a good idea for the workplace to
be relaxed and not too structured so that when the employees do work, they are focused and not
messing around. Aaron Uhde states that A lot of people waste time on electronics, so my
observation is that someone is working 60 hours a week, they are probably not as productive as
they could be.
It has been proven by Holland, France lunched, and then slept. So did Spain. So did much of the
civilized world (Holland). Holland is trying to prove that civilized people should nap because it is
what everyone else does. It may be good to nap, but if the US has been doing so well without
them, is it really necessary? And what about the way adults sleep, does that affect the need for
naps? Adults have different sleep patterns and demands. Aaron mentions, opposing Holland s
passage.
In conclusion, naps scare americans because they think that time will pass them by. Even a short
nap can improve your ability to focus and pay attention. Although naps can be very helpful, in
America, they go against the competitive spirit because naps are relaxation. Additionally,
electronics take up

Summary Of Slavery In The Comedy Of Errors
In The Comedy of Errors Shakespeare adds a frame story. Egeon plays the doting father of the
lost twins, only appearing in the first and final acts, but is incredibly important as a device to
frame the action of the play. Though the play is a comedy, Egeon grounds the action in tragedy.
Subsequently, because the conceit of the play is so complicated, Shakespeare has the characters
speak to each other in an indirect way, so they don t get to the heart of all the confusion until the
play s resolution. Their content is not often relevant to their conversation partner, but it s usually
sharp and clever enough that they could be thought to be punning or otherwise joking around.
There s enough playfulness in what is said, that the confused character often dismisses the
confusing messages because of the light way in which they re communicated. This veiled style of
speaking allows the interactions to occur on different levels, one of which makes sense to each
conversation partner, even if it doesn t make for coherent conversation. In The Comedy of Errors,
Shakespeare adds vital social commentary regarding slavery. The rough treatment of the Dromios
and their ambiguous servant/slave status reflect similar features of Elizabethan servitude. In The
Comedyof Errors, Shakespeare constructs the Dromios so as to condense the potential slavishness
of sixteenth century English service. The play s focus on slavery widens to encompass the
institution of marriage and the individual s ordering

UK Government s Strategy to Imporve Workplace Proficiency...
The United Kingdom provides training for workers to improve their skills enabling them to expand
into the labour market. Buckley et al (2007) illustrate training as a planned and systematic effort to
modify... skills through learning... to achieve effective performance . It is explained as improving
technical capabilities of workers and embedding them further into occupational community (Green
et al, 2012). Gold et al (2010) further elucidates this by adding that training is essentially skill
orientated. The UK government have put forth new strategies aimed at developing the UK s
workforce proficiency (Stevens, 2013) for instance traineeship, apprenticeship, pre job training and
further education made vastly available for all. This essay... Show more content on Helpwriting.net

Out of the 24 countries studied upon, UK plummets to 22nd place for numeric skills and 21st place
for literature; holding top place is Netherlands (BBC, 2013).
The UK government has placed many strategies to help companies and individuals obtain skills
and necessary work training such as the Action Plan 2012 (CIPD, 2012); this was a strategy to
help people with necessary skills to join the job market and boost the economy. UK has also
introduced Job Centre Plus (2002) which is a government executive agency working to aid
individuals with employment providing training and skills and employers with obtaining desired
employees.
However; having just come out of recession there is the argument of the capability of the
government being able to fund all training for each individual (,). But the UK retains some of the
best organisations and agencies to help build further training and skills. For instance the
Department of Business, Innovations and Skills (BIS) brings together all the levels of the economy
including skills , higher education and trade (BIS,2012).Even though it is a UK department, much
of the skills policy and funding is set at devolved nation level.
On the other hand UK Commission for Employment and Skills (UKCES) is a non departmental
civic body functioning as part of a societal corporation. They are there to provide strategic
leadership on skills and employment issues (UKCES, 2012).Their mission is to ...raise skill
levels...create better jobs

The Dialect Of My Identity
The Language of Me The Dialect of My Identity Growing up right outside of Richmond means
that my dialect has strong influences of The Tidewater region. Although this area is where I was
raised, my dialect has strong influences from those I spend a lot of time with. My mother was
born and raised in North Carolina. Her dialect tends to lean more towards Classical Southern. My
father was born in Michigan, and while he has changed the way he spoke to match the more
southern region he lives in, he has strong influences from Inland North. A lot of my dialect ranges
from South East, all the way over to Southern California. This is because dialect travels, as people
and trends move. With the internet and social media becoming increasingly popular,

  • 2. My Teaching Philosophy Statement Statement of Teaching Philosophy Stephanie Speicher, M.Ed. I regard it as the foremost task of education to insure the survival of these qualities: an enterprising spirit, tenacity in pursuit, readiness for sensible self denial, and above all compassion Hahn, K. (1957, p.10). Outward bound. New York City: World Books. Foundation The Sunrise I stood watching the sunrise on the final day of a weeklong backpack/rock climbing training with my college orientation program. The tears streamed down my face, without my knowledge, as I processed all that I had experienced that week. I spent much time immersed learning HOW to teach in an outdoor environment. The environment the teacher creates is instrumental to encouraging or inhibiting learning. It is my job to create a dynamic, exciting, and interconnected environment that encourages students to be part of thought provoking conversation and potential learning opportunities. Specifically, when teaching social studies, it is crucial I treat subject matter as interconnected, emphasizing that everything students are learning fits together into a complete understanding of the world, from which they develop their personal global perspective. Finally, I believe the concept of respect must be present and felt by my students and colleagues. Not only to respect and be open to the content presented in class, but also to motivate them to respect themselves, each other and members of our global community. Experience is the Key I consider three overarching goals to each teaching moment I am presented with, each of them embedded in my conception of teaching as a temptation to Experience. First, I ask students to experience the specific course content. As a teacher of social studies, I see my task as creating spaces for students to encounter and discuss at both a personal and professional level fundamental questions of power, justice, identity, equity, and freedom. Asking my students to experience the course content also means encouraging active and participatory learning. Second, I ask students to experience moments with me and with each other. • 3. Essay about The Americanization Of Canada When the topic of Canada comes up among peoples, immediately the thought of ice hockey, the Mounted Police, and beavers comes to mind. In fact, Canada has truly lost its true identity that we once knew. It is slowly being assimilated and in fact Americanized ; in aspects of social identity, national identity, and cultural identity. First, Canada is being slowly Americanized ; in its social identity. When we talk about a country s social identity, we examine a few areas. First is the media, which is constantly bombarding Canadians with images and values of American culture. Through the images we see Americans constantly fighting, either in aspects of global policing in their own backyard with Americans killing Americans. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... First thought that comes to most peoples minds is that of the mounted police, beavers, ice hockey, and wide land mass. In fact, our national identity has been brought about by the American way of life. This buying spree essentially started when Walt Disney purchased the Mounted Police s image o it could be displayed in the Ebcot center. The most powerful, stunning uniform is to be adorned by some no account, flag waving, hillbilly yokel. Another national image wh8ich spans all three topics of social, natural and cultural is that of Tim Horton s. The one place where we all go almost every day, has been bought by an American, Dave Thomas. The image of hockey is distorted as well for there are 28 teams in the NHL, and only 6 of those teams are based in Canada. That means that Canada only has 21% of what is considered to be a national sport. The government image is distorted in the Canadians mind as well. All of the American s television shows and news would have some Canadians believe that our governments work the same, and all courts operate in the same way as Judge Judy s and the People s Court. In summary, not only are Canadians loosing the social identity but their national identity as well. Third, not only is the Americanization of Canada taking place through the social and national identities, but also through cultural identities. Canada is viewed as a mosaic and not a melting pot such as in the States ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 4. Perspective Of Panchali New Perspective of Panchali in Chitra Banerjee Divakaruni s The Palace of Illusion Abstract: In The Palace of Illusion, Divakaruni portrays Panchali as a bold, powerful and independent woman, an equal to the men and not subservient. She presents Panchali s life as a series of choices made by her and giving her a voice in the overwhelmingly patriarchal society that was ancient India. Divakaruni interprets the epic Mahabharat which provides a complete narrative. She gives a stronger role to the women of the story, and portrays them as equals in society. This paper aims at the new perspective given to Panchali by Chitra Banerjee Divakaruni. Draupadi has been portrayed mostly negatively in Hindu society in India and we will fail to find girls being named after her. Many believe that it was her headstrong actions that brought about the destruction of the Third Age of Man. She is known to be a kritya one who brings doom to her clan. But Divakaruni moves away from such interpretations to provide a new outlook of Panchali. • 6. Doctor-Patient Relationship Essay More than just a diagnosis To listen to personal stories of what it is like to be unwell is an incredible way for medical students and doctors to learn about illness and gain firsthand insight into Whole person care . Earlier this year, I got the opportunity as part of our ELM3 Healthcare in the Community (HIC) group to meet and learn about a member of the community with a traumatic brain injury and her interactions with healthcare professionals and personal journey towards recovery. An open discussion allowed us to learn about her narrative, which provided many examples of the distinction between disease and illness and the importance of a patient centered approach to healthcare. This opportunity is one of many the Otago School of Medicine and its HIC programme have organised to build a foundation and develop into becoming a well rounded and patient focused doctor. It has allowed me to learn a vast amount about myself and certainly has expanded my views on the importance of patient centered healthcare. This essay is a reflective piece where I will expand on the story of Miss X and some specific learning experiences that have helped me appreciate the integrated approach to the healing process of medicine as well as the importance of the doctor patient relationship. Approximately twelve years ago, at the age of twenty one, Miss X was involved in a motor vehicle accident resulting in a traumatic brain injury and leaving her in a coma for nine and a half weeks. This aim is achieved via using Derrida s deconstruction and Bhabha s definition of these terms. Considering culture as a means of domination to get possession of control over the instruments of collective self definition is considered as a very significant policy in the political and cultural conflict for emancipation. This article focuses on a tension between recently autonomous nation and former colonial beliefs which results in binarism between modern and traditional values that led to the denigration of non Western cultures. Therefore, the writer attempts to show how the characters of this story make effort to abolish this idea and retrieve the local and native traditions that were destructed during colonialism. This study concentrates on all characters and examines their contradictions and their effort for consistency that can be discussed through a deconstructive analysis. Key words: Mimicry, Colonialism, Post colonialism, Binary opposition, Culture. Introduction The Flag on the Island is one of the creative works of V.S. The Reasons for Britain s Relinquishment of Hong Kong With martial and precision music played, the sovereignty of Hong Kong was returned from Britain to China officially in a ceremony held on July 1st, 1997. The ceremony symbolized that Hong Kong moved into a new era that is a dramatic change from capitalist territory to Communist control and in the meanwhile, the colonial power of Britain in Hong Kongwas eventually declared the end. The purpose of this research paper is to analyze the reasons for the relinquishment of Hong Kong from three aspects that is historical background, the negotiation between British and Chinese governments and the results. Date back to 1800s in China, after the failure of two Opium Wars; Hong Kong entirely became a colony of Britain according to two unequal treaties that are Treaty of Nanking and Convention of Peking. As Hong Kong is a colony, it must be resumed over one day. After the foundation of People s Republic of China, PRC needed to build up diplomatic development and this historical issue was brought to the table. Although the relinquishment issue was complicated and the negotiation between British and Chinese governments was back and forth, it was well solved in 1984 by signing Sino British Joint Declaration. The declaration stated that Hong Kong must be handed over with effect from July 1st, 1997; moreover, both two countries agreed on one country, two systems this suggestive political principle. • 11. He was a spy that was hired by MI6 to figure out the secret behind Herod Sayle and his Stormbreaker computers that he was donating to every school in England. Ian Rider had figured out the secret, but before he could reveal it to MI6, he was shot and killed. Alex s uncle was the only family he had left, and so it deeply affected him. I was also surprised that Sayle had implanted the small pox virus into the Stormbreaker computers that he was sending out to every school (p. 186). That was how he planned to harm everybody in England. I really admire the character of Alex because he is very courageous and intelligent. At the beginning of the book, Alex wanted to find out if the story about his uncle getting in a car accident was true or not, so he went to the auto wreckage center nearest his house to search for the car. Once he had been searching a lot for the vehicle, he ended up finding it to see it in perfect condition except for bullet holes in the windshield (p. 19). He heard people coming, so he hid inside the car. Then a big crane picked the car up and starting smashing it in a machine, with Alex still inside! After all the struggling, he managed to get out of the car just before it went through the part of the machine that totally crushes the car into a cylinder (p. 24). I felt pretty bad for Alex. • 12. Diversity Is The Human Race DIVERSITY PAPER Gay. Straight. Black. White. Male. Female. Wealthy. Poor. Modern society has systematically sorted the human race into collections and communities of descriptive factors. Deeply embedded within a systematical labeling system, diversity has fell victim to the harmful segregation and prejudice of the past. Diversity is not about the inferior nor the morally corrupt. Diversity is not the hallow substance of labels. Diversity is culture, pride, and heritage. To rural South Dakotans, diversity amongst the human race is rare. In the agricultural state I call home, variation lies not in the people but rather in the contrasting species of livestock and corn. Hailing from a town population of 3,025, any kind of knowledge about a social world beyond Hartford, South Dakota was limited. To answer any impending questions which may be surrounding one s head at the current time, just lean towards the answer no. • 13. Arguments Against Abortion Introduction Although, currently legalized, abortion continues to be a burdening ethical issue in America. From 1973 to 2011 approximately 53 million legal abortions were performed in the United States (Procon.org, 2015, p.1). Pro Choice supporters hail an abortion is a woman s choice and a protected personal right that should not be limited by governmental or religious authority (Procon.org, 2015, p.1). However, Pro Life supporters contend that a human life begins at the very moment of conception and thus an abortionis the immoral killing of an innocent human being (Procon.org, 2015, p.1). Thus, there are various arguments to be considered on both sides. Pro Choice Many contend that in attempting to delegalized abortions the government ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Pro Life supporters insist that a child is considered a human being at the very moment of conception. Thus, abortion is murder and is unethical because the right to live was stripped from the child. A child can be aborted up to 24 weeks of life and in some states later (Procon.org, 2015, p.1). Furthermore, a fetus does feel pain during the abortion procedure because by eight weeks the most primitive response to pain, the spinal reflex, is developed (Procon.org, 2015, p.1). Moreover, the psychological affects of an abortion can be overwhelming such as increased depression and anxiety (Procon.org, 2015, p.1). A 2002 peer reviewed study published by the Southern Medical Journal... found that women who aborted were 154% more likely to commit suicide than women who carried to term (Procon.org, 2015, p.1). Pro Life supporters believe women must not be able to use an abortion as a means of contraception. If one becomes pregnant, one must be responsible for the child they have brought to the world. Thousands of families desire to adopt children, thus abortion significantly reduces the number of adoptable babies (Procon.org, 2015, p.1). Lastly, abortion promotes a culture in which human life is disposable and it is acceptable to rid of a life that inconveniences you (Procon.org, 2015, ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

In the UK there are mainly two social classes; working class and middle class. 33% of students who are currently on free school meals achieve 5A* C at GCSE, however 61% of students who are not on free school meals also achieve 5A* C grades. 90% of the failing school are from deprived areas, and 79% of children from a higher professional family are more likely to go to university, whilst only 15% of children from unskilled and manual backgrounds go to ... Neil Keddie then argues that the more intelligent students get taught more complex and advanced information and methods while the students in the lower sets are not recognised and being left behind. Hofffman s work, The Sandman, and Mosse s, From Romanticism to the Volk, share cohesive concepts, each examine the dramatic cultural shift toward promoting nationalist thought in the minds of the German people. Through the rootlessness of his characters, the cognitive disparity between Nathanael and Klara, and the structure of The Sandman, Hoffman aptly uses the folktale genre to effectively reveal his disdain for the tenets of enlightenment as they challenged the new Volk ideology of Germany. Mosse s scholarly analysis critically examined this same shift and sought to clarify how the groundwork laid for the return to Germanic roots, exemplified in the Volk neo romantic movement, came as a direct reaction to the industrial revolution. In The Sandman, we are introduced to the character Coppelius, who quickly becomes the root of all evil in the protagonist, Nathanael s life (pun intended). From the Volk perspective, it becomes apparent that Coppelius malevolent traits are due to his lack of allegiance to Germanic cultural identity. Nathanael suspects that Coppelius is not a true German , which was problematic in the German Volk conceptualization of an idyllic state (47). Obey or Disobedience AMO Obey Or Disobedience ROUGH DRAFT In the story by Fromm, his outlook on obedience and disobedience is that we have the ability to obey but the capacity to disobey is something that society has influenced us to do naturally. Obedience and disobedience has always been part of a never ending cycle that is consistently going round and round. Throughout history it has been evident that soldier s obey their commander s, that knights uphold the ruling of their king, and that their disobedience is about the shifting of power. So, too, is our nation being part of that cycle and repeating history. Our nation s soldiers obey orders given by the President. Whether they are right or wrong it is an order they obeyed countless of times.... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... We make necessary choices in order for us to be accepted in society, yet we challenge what we were taught and conform to our perspective of what society wants for us to be. You always hear the term, There are two types of people... Being that those two types are the Yin and Yang, the lovers and the haters, it is the opposites that make the stereotype of each other. In the Ashe article, it talked about how we conform to the position we are given. If you were one of the poisoners, you would imitate and believe that you are one. If you are a guard, you would play the part and show the power you hold to those that are beneath you. That is society; those that are on top would always look down upon those that are beneath them and those beneath would do almost anything to bask in their glory. And then there are those that would do what they can to bring them down. Three dimensional (3D) printing is a manufacturing method in which objects are made by fusing or depositing materials such as plastic, metal, ceramics, powders, liquids, or even living cells in layers to produce a 3D object (Ventola, October 2014). It is incredible to see how such materials can be used to be put together to make a living organism that can be used in a human s body. As a person ages this could be very useful because organs tend to fail and become weak when a person gets older they could potentially be used to replace the failing organs. There are many different types of 3D printing and they do all come with some positives but at the same time they come with some negatives as well. NAME: Alva GRADE: 10X Maybe some people will think human geography has no relation between physical geography. But I think human geography has a great effect on physical geography, and physical geography has a great effect on human geography too. As an intellectual discipline, geography is divided into the sub fields of physical geography and human geography, the latter concentrating upon the study of human activities, by the application of qualitative and quantitative research methods. So we can learn for this that physical geography and human geography are connected and affects each other almost every time. And the third example is the population. If the population increase, people need more places to live. They need more soil to grow the food. This will make the soil loose and the water may flood it away. Garvey s message conveyed the ideas of the redemption of Africa, an independent black economy, the importance of racial identity, and the pride and solidarity blacks should have for themselves. Of course Pool was influenced by Garvey s words, along with other African Americans, because during the time of the Depression those encouraging and uplifting words brought a lot of hope to people. That is, we must consider whether the notice placed on the car constitutes a valid offer or if it was a mere invitation to treat. If this notice does amount to a valid offer where Arnold outlines the terms and conditions (the price at which he was willing to sell and his telephone number) by which he is willing to be legally bound we must look at the possible issues that may arise and what possible steps Arnold can take to deal with his situation. Farmers raised hell in the fall of 1890, in part, because they had not yet formed the farm management skills that could have prevented such a collapse of operating income. If Populist voters were choked by monopoly power, the party should have done significantly worse in those townships served by several competing railroad lines; but if Populist voters were motivated by a dispirited hunt for capital gains on land through nearness to railway improvements, Populist candidates should have prospered as they moved farthest away from a rail station. Therefore, if Populist voters were motivated simply by bitterness over the fact that their township did not have a rail station then Populist candidates should have done better in a township with no railway station at all. What was most important was 1) whether a township had a railroad station and 2) how far the average farmer had to travel to reach a railhead. Auden says, the ploughman may Have heard the splash, the forsaken cry, But for him it was not an important failure. The author is essentially verbalizing the painting Landscape with the Fall of Icarus. Much like Icarus isn t a huge part of the painting, he is also given very little mention in this poem. The underlying theme of this poem is that suffering is surrounded by the busyness of everyday life. Even this poem is a perfect example of the overshadowing of suffering by other things, itself overshadowing the tragic demise of Icarus with other mundane events. This also places Icarus story in the hands of an outsider, leading readers to become less attached to Icarus and ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

There will be a lot of students in the team including a student from different cultures. I was one of students who joined the football teamin high school. As a Nepali refugee who had never heard of football until he came to America, the transition to play for my school team was not easy. I entered a discourse community of my High School FootballTeam by developing my knowledge about football, communicating, and making friends with team members from different culture and social group. My journey to the school team was hard, but it was worth. I became part of a football team because students are taught to be responsible and mature in the team. Joining a football team was a great opportunity for me to make a lifelong friendship with other players learning about leadership, communicating, and working with a team. Just like other players, I played with a hope of getting a scholarship for college. I began with desired to become a true member of this community, but I was so determined that I end up leading a team by becoming a team captain. Therefore, it is important for everybody to learn the experiences of others because there might be somebody out there who wants to be part of any team, but maybe they are afraid to step up to join that team thinking he or she is different among all. • 44. Naps In The Workplace The young boys heavy eyelids flutter as he tries to finish his college application a few minutes until the deadline. He had not had a nap that day and struggled through time trials at cross country practice. A few hours later he glanced at the clock and he noticed that he was far past the deadline. Had he taken a nap he would have finished his collegeapplication and would have the chance to attend his dream college. Americans are afraid of naps because they are afraid that the world around us will leave us behind and we don t have enough time. We just don t have time to nap is a point that Bridgette Uhde elaborates on, As you age you don t need as many naps... And I just don t have time. She tries to excuse her lack of naps for her... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... It s the culture of the USA where people feel required to put in a number of hours or work more than others, Aaron Uhde states during his interview. Although this may be true, America is trying to change this through major corporations such as Nike and Google. They have nap rooms and encourage meditation and relaxation. Another reason that it is a good idea for the workplace to be relaxed and not too structured so that when the employees do work, they are focused and not messing around. Aaron Uhde states that A lot of people waste time on electronics, so my observation is that someone is working 60 hours a week, they are probably not as productive as they could be. It has been proven by Holland, France lunched, and then slept. So did Spain. So did much of the civilized world (Holland). Holland is trying to prove that civilized people should nap because it is what everyone else does. It may be good to nap, but if the US has been doing so well without them, is it really necessary? And what about the way adults sleep, does that affect the need for naps? Adults have different sleep patterns and demands. Aaron mentions, opposing Holland s passage. In conclusion, naps scare americans because they think that time will pass them by. Even a short nap can improve your ability to focus and pay attention. Although naps can be very helpful, in America, they go against the competitive spirit because naps are relaxation. Additionally, electronics take up ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 45. Summary Of Slavery In The Comedy Of Errors In The Comedy of Errors Shakespeare adds a frame story. Egeon plays the doting father of the lost twins, only appearing in the first and final acts, but is incredibly important as a device to frame the action of the play. Though the play is a comedy, Egeon grounds the action in tragedy. Subsequently, because the conceit of the play is so complicated, Shakespeare has the characters speak to each other in an indirect way, so they don t get to the heart of all the confusion until the play s resolution. Their content is not often relevant to their conversation partner, but it s usually sharp and clever enough that they could be thought to be punning or otherwise joking around. There s enough playfulness in what is said, that the confused character often dismisses the confusing messages because of the light way in which they re communicated. This veiled style of speaking allows the interactions to occur on different levels, one of which makes sense to each conversation partner, even if it doesn t make for coherent conversation. In The Comedy of Errors, Shakespeare adds vital social commentary regarding slavery. The rough treatment of the Dromios and their ambiguous servant/slave status reflect similar features of Elizabethan servitude. In The Comedyof Errors, Shakespeare constructs the Dromios so as to condense the potential slavishness of sixteenth century English service. The play s focus on slavery widens to encompass the institution of marriage and the individual s ordering ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 46. UK Government s Strategy to Imporve Workplace Proficiency... The United Kingdom provides training for workers to improve their skills enabling them to expand into the labour market. Buckley et al (2007) illustrate training as a planned and systematic effort to modify... skills through learning... to achieve effective performance . It is explained as improving technical capabilities of workers and embedding them further into occupational community (Green et al, 2012). Gold et al (2010) further elucidates this by adding that training is essentially skill orientated. The UK government have put forth new strategies aimed at developing the UK s workforce proficiency (Stevens, 2013) for instance traineeship, apprenticeship, pre job training and further education made vastly available for all. Out of the 24 countries studied upon, UK plummets to 22nd place for numeric skills and 21st place for literature; holding top place is Netherlands (BBC, 2013). The UK government has placed many strategies to help companies and individuals obtain skills and necessary work training such as the Action Plan 2012 (CIPD, 2012); this was a strategy to help people with necessary skills to join the job market and boost the economy. UK has also introduced Job Centre Plus (2002) which is a government executive agency working to aid individuals with employment providing training and skills and employers with obtaining desired employees. However; having just come out of recession there is the argument of the capability of the government being able to fund all training for each individual (,). But the UK retains some of the best organisations and agencies to help build further training and skills. For instance the Department of Business, Innovations and Skills (BIS) brings together all the levels of the economy including skills , higher education and trade (BIS,2012).Even though it is a UK department, much of the skills policy and funding is set at devolved nation level. On the other hand UK Commission for Employment and Skills (UKCES) is a non departmental civic body functioning as part of a societal corporation. They are there to provide strategic leadership on skills and employment issues (UKCES, 2012).Their mission is to ...raise skill levels...create better jobs ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Although this area is where I was raised, my dialect has strong influences from those I spend a lot of time with. My mother was born and raised in North Carolina. Her dialect tends to lean more towards Classical Southern. My father was born in Michigan, and while he has changed the way he spoke to match the more southern region he lives in, he has strong influences from Inland North. A lot of my dialect ranges from South East, all the way over to Southern California. This is because dialect travels, as people and trends move.
